Room 100 Creative Writing
It was a typical day in the Tatafu household, with my sister and I participating in a match of our
amateur version of basketball, my mother passionately gardening and the rest of the house basically
lounging around. I remember distinctly that the day was the 2nd of February, also known as the
aggravating first day of school. For odd some reason, I had sensed an unsettling feeling that blended
in with our borderline couldn t be bothered behavior as we foregathered in for dinner. The silence
that usually accompanied our dinners had transitioned into a newfound awkward hush, and I knew
immediately that something just wasn t right. I had heard the gossip slipping through the
occasional conversations within the disorderly familymeetings, however I just assumed they were
rumours. They had to be. She lost the baby. I introduce to you, ladies and gentlemen, the day my
world disintegrated.
The majority of the world s population would ve taken at least one day off to let everything fully
sink in, right? Room 100. Although, in the eyes of my mother, I am not a proportion of that... Show

Though, in contrast to the situation that morning, I was surrounded by my loquacious siblings
and first cousins or as we call ourselves, BRENIUKEN (a combination of the three firstborns of
the next generation). All I was thinking right then was, Why am I here? But the numerous shut
ups and silent cries descending down the hallway, reminded me of why we were all assembled in
that room for that specific night. It was time to say goodbye together. The footsteps of my sister in
law and my brother then enter the room, and I was distraught by what I had witnessed. There they
appeared, holding their stillborn child in their hands with puffy red eyes filled with tears. As they
walked towards their seat, everyone in that room started to sing to express our love and respect for

Difference Between Human Resources Management And Payroll...
Human Resources Management and Payroll Cycle The Human Resources Management (HRM)
and the Payroll Cycle, which represent two connected but autonomous subsystems, are one of the
five core transaction cycles inherent in every organisation. According to Romney and Steinbart
(2015) they can be defined as a recurring set of business activities and related data processing
operations associated with effectively managing the employee workforce (p.443). In this process
the HRM system conducts all tasks which can be grouped into recruiting, training, job assignment,
performance evaluation and discharge of employees. The major activities of the payroll system
concern compensation as well as allocation of personnel cost to products and departments. Since
both procedures require a different kind of knowledge and skills, the associated duties are often
segregated so that the HR department manages the HRM part whereas the Controlling is
responsible for the payroll system (Romney Steinbart, 2015). The whole construct is illustrated in

Although they contribute to the implementation of an effective and reliable internal control system,
both frameworks are subject to the same general limitations. First of all, they are not able to
eliminate every risk, but rather to ensure a reasonable assurance and control over the substantial
threats (Romney Steinbart, 2015). The reason for this is that not all events are under direct control
of the company. Moreover, there is always the pitfall of human mistakes and flawed decision
making, especially as the application of the frameworks requires some professional judgement.
Lastly, the resources of every organisation are limited and therefore cost benefit considerations
might affect the structure of the internal control system as well. (COSO,

pulmonary practice. Determination of a specific diagnosis can represent a major challenge.
Thoracoscopy is the investiga tion of choice in exudative pleural effusions where a diagnostic

Snider, Hill And Martin. (2003) Stated That“ Csr May Be
Snider, Hill and Martin. (2003) stated that CSR may be defined in general terms as the
obligation of the firm to use its resources in ways to benefit society, through committed
participation as a member of society, taking into account the society at large and improving
welfare of society at large independent of direct gains of the company (as cited in Kok et al.,
2001, p. 288). Since the growth of the corporations depend on the societal factors, corporations
should be responsible for the society for the corporation s own benefit in the long run. The
Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) construct describes the relationship between business and the
larger society (Snider et al., 2003). According to The Wall Street Journal (2013),

As Kline (2017) stated, Socially responsible companies can reduce their credit spread by 40%,
avoid market losses from crises (saving millions), double the probability of receiving investment
grade ratings, reduce share price volatility 2 10%, and reduce systematic or market risk by 4%.
More interestingly, Kline (2017) mentioned, ...the researchers found that corporate responsibility

Market value may grow even more to 40 80% higher than peers and competitors market value for

Similarly, Kline (2017) voiced, The study found several advantages on the human resources
front due to retention of talent attracted to CR. Staff turnover rates are 25 to 50% lower in
responsible companies, who can save around $3700 on average in wage increases to encourage

A Definition Of System Services Essay
System services
This chapter contains a definition of system services (SyS) which are both managed and
coordinated by ДЊEPS.
ДЊEPS is, according to the Energy Act, responsible for ensuring system services for the power
system at the transmission system level. The system services provided by ДЊEPS serve to ensure
both the secure and reliable operation of the power system and the quality of electricity
transmission and satisfy the various international obligations set out by the UCTE. ДЊEPS
provides the following system services:
1) Maintaining the quality of electricity
This service entails the use of the following technical organisational tools: o Management of the
summary power reserve for primary frequency control o Secondary f/P control o Secondary
voltage control o Tertiary voltage control o Ensuring the quality of the voltage sine wave o
Ensuring transmission stability
The criteria for the quality of electricity follow current technical standards пЂёV.3.
2) Real time active power balancing
This service requires the use of the following technical organisational tools: o Load frequency
control o Tertiary active power control o Dispatcher reserve
The criteria for evaluating the quality of active power balancing (the control of power interchange
at the planned level) are contained in recommendations provided by the UCTE (Ground rules
concerning primary and secondary control of frequency and active power within the UCPTE) and
in the Catalogue of requirements for

Michael Parenti s View On Human Nature And Why The Topic...
1. Discuss Michael Parenti s view on human nature and why the topic is important for our course:
Michael Parenti, author and political scientist, describes human nature as a topic deeply intertwined
with politics. The reason for this is because arguments for and against human nature being
unalterable and the cause of everything destructive are both ideologically motivated and have a
political implication. According to him, to say that human nature is accountable for our current
social relations is no different than what renowned thinkers of the past have asserted for their own
social circumstances. For instance, philosophers of the Classical Era such as Plato and Socrates
believed everyone belonged to their place in the hierarchy. That... Show more content on

The problem that Parenti proposes is that the worst of these qualities are acknowledged as central,
while the best treated as secondary. Parenti extends his argumentby saying that these qualities are
seen as basic and are associated with human instinct. For example, some argue that people have the
instinct to earn money and that this is evident in the fact that people earn money. Parenti discards
this as a cycle of post hoc ergo propter hoc, in which the existence of something is weakly
explained by holding the very thing s existence as its reason for existing.
Both arguments on the topic of human instinct, concludes Parenti, fails to acknowledge the
complex social processes that intertwine between innate proclivity and natural behavior. This topic
is important to discuss in a politics class because it is a fundamental argument that can potentially
give insight into how expansion of the capitalist system can produce political activity in the world.
Parenti emphasizes that the global division of labor between the rich and poor and military
coercion cannot be simply labeled as the outcome of the natural human way. For saying this is
declaring the inescapability of the situation and dismissing all possibilities of social justice in the
future.

Choice D is the best answer choice. Patients with restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM) often present
at an advanced stage of disease with the pronounced cardiopulmonary symptoms of CHF. Patients
usually complain of gradually worsening shortness of breath, progressive exercise intolerance, and
fatigue. Fatigue and weakness are results of decreased stroke volume and cardiac output.
Paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea may be reported. Right sided congestive features are often
prominent and patients may have distention of the abdomen secondary to ascites, and frequently
have profound bilateral peripheral edema. Abdominal discomfort or liver tenderness may be

Blood pressure may fall further on standing, particularly if autonomic neuropathy is present.
Hypertension is unusual, and in patients with a history of hypertension, spontaneous resolution of
hypertension over the preceding few months is common. Pulmonary exam reveals bilateral pleural
effusions, but rales are rarely present, even in association with advanced heart failure. The pleural
effusions in a patient with AL amyloidosis may simply represent heart failure, but patients with
cardiac amyloid may also have pleural infiltration with amyloid, resulting in disproportionately large
effusions that are diuretic resistant and rapidly recur after a pleural tap. Splenomegaly is rare,
whereas hepatomegaly is common and is due either to congestion from right heart failure or to
amyloid infiltration When extensive amyloid infiltration of the liver is present, the organ is rock
hard and not tender, often extending several centimeters below the costal margin and crossing the
midline. This contrasts with the firm, sometimes tender, liver of heart failure. Peripheral edema
may be profound, and if it appears disproportionate to the degree of heart failure, the possibility of
associated nephrotic syndrome should be considered. In addition to autonomic dysfunction,
amyloidosis may cause a sensory neuropathy, and the patient may complain of numbness or painful
extremities/ A history of weight loss is common, and proteinuria, frequently reaching nephrotic
range (≥3 g/24 h), coexists with cardiac disease in 30% to 50% of

Failure Vs. Success
Jason Williams Dr.Bess 9:25
Failure is much often a better teacher than success, Failure is practice towards becoming
successful if you always succeed you will never know what it feels like to fail and won t know
how to react whenever that time comes. It is everyone s dream to be successful, but success is very
rarely given to anyone. Everyone has obstacles to get over and their own set of trials and

listen more precise to what people have to say, and to also go out and give it my everything at
whatever I was doing. Being involved in sports for several years has helped me grow as an
individual and elevating my attitude not only towards life, but toward other people as well.
When playing a sport, you are taught to go out and win but to have fun at the same time. My
freshman year I was on the J.V football team and the season had just started. I was out on the
floor and once the game started, I was trying too hard and rushing my game. Being inexperienced
at this level, we were losing the football game. Since we were losing, we were not having fun. I
was told by coaches and by myself that I needed to slow down and regain my composure. As
soon as I got that into my head, we began creeping back into the game and we were on top by the
fourth quarter. We were winning, having fun, and enjoying all the glory. Ever since that football
game I have remembered that day and made myself slow down if I am hurrying things. I believe
that this factor will carry on through life and make me a better individual. All in all team sports
can help to teach valuable lessons throughout life. First impressions are very important to your

Alpha Male Stereotypes
The Stereotype of The Alpha Male
For past years to current times striking fear and rejection of society, has forced men to create a
stereotype that compensates their deep insecurities, low esteem, and incompetence to value women.
In the course of time, the Alpha Male has developed different characteristics which can easily
distinguish him from everybody else. If those characters are analyzed, it can be understood
furthermore more deep the reason behind this behavior. From a scientific definition, the Alpha Male
is considered in the animal kingdom the leader of his social group, although his leadership comes
with the benefits he is not driven by narcissistic purposes but for the well being of his pack. In
contrast with the social Alpha male, the just mentioned attributes are not present.
Media has portrayed this character in different ways, but for most researchers online, Ryan
Gosling in his portrayal of his character Jacob Palmer from the movie Crazy Stupid Love is the
perfect example of the modern Alpha Male. The famous scene that takes place in the bar in which
his character is set alone in a dark bar club with dimmed lights illuminating the bar counter, reclining

International Reputation Of Urban Transportation Planning
I. INTRODUCTION
Transportation infrastructure is not only regarded as the artery of massive urban system, but also
the cornerstone of urban growth as transportation advantages attract development opportunities.
However, in the 20th century, unprecedented urbanisation pressured transportation worldwide, as
population growth and rise of automobile ownership plagued various cities into chronic traffic
problems with subsequent social and environmental impacts. This report explores Curitiba that has
developed an international reputation of urban transportation planning, in order to understand how
increasingly urbanised city as Curitiba alleviates its traffic issues through urban design and creative
management. Critical analysis and implications in terms of the results of implemented solutions
will be provided.
II. HISTORY PROBLEMS Curitiba, capital of the state of Parana МЃ in Brazil, originated with a
strong emphasis on transportation, as the first patches of rail road constructions in 1880s between
the city and ports of its state upgraded Curitiba into a strategic location for business and trade
(Macedo 2004). Although the city experienced growth through capital investment in coffee
production since 1940s (Macedo 2013), the significant driver of Curitiba s expansion was the
mechanisation of agriculture and its emerging industrial and commercial importance since 1960s,
during which the resulting rural in migration of displaced labour force fueled urban

Scholarship Application for a Music Program Essay
Music is one of the most fascinating aspects of a civilization, and yet it s importance is often
overlooked by many in today s world. The existence of music dates well beyond any known
civilization, and its gradual evolution drastically varies from culture to culture. To me, the notion
that music is a mere reflection of society is a statement I used to take for granted. Although this
notion is true to some degree, mainly with some popular music, my research has led me to conclude
that all music influences society on a greater scale than one would assume. In ancient times, there
existed many correlations between changes in music followed by changes in society. These range
from the ushering of new eras of prosperity, to the conservation of... Show more content on

Having found a new direction in my life, I left everything in the hectic New York City behind. I
moved on my own to a rural area in Washington State in an effort to live a more peaceful and self
sufficient life, and pursue new experiences. Once I moved, my taste in music gradually became
more refined. I began to seriously practice the classical guitar and composed for it as well. Since
then, I also started experimenting with binaural beats and have used them extensively in
meditation and other disciplines. This led me to research the effects of particular frequencies
exerted on the brain, and how they could easily be used to induce different brainwave frequency
states. I discovered how playing music helps to create a lot of new neural networks, increase the
bridge between the two brain hemispheres (corpus callosum) and develop higher levels of
perception. But the rabbit hole was deeper than I thought.
I read books on the influence of music on society throughout the ages. Each specific type of music
has produced an effect on history, morals and culture. I found examples of drastic changes in
music that led to drastic changes in civilization. Different styles of music within a society led to
different coexisting ideals. Sometimes new popular music led to a social revolution. In places like
ancient China, where music varied very little, traditions were maintained for thousands of years.
The Chinese themselves believed it was because of the preservation of

Remembering Operation Overlord
The planning of Operation Overlord and the invasion were both effected by the lack of
equipment and landing crafts. Operation Overlord was a very advanced operation involving
Americans, Canadians, British, and other allies. The allied forces were going to attack the
beaches of Normandy in France, which was currently under Nazi Control. They attacked five
different Beaches: Juno, Gold, Sword, Utah, and Omaha beach. This operation could lead to the
end of World War 2 and the defeat of the Nazis. In 1943, a year before the invasion, the allies
chose
who would be in charge of the invasion. General Eisenhower was chosen to be in charge of the
operation. (Brohier) Allies had tight security in order to prevent the Germans from learning
details about the invasion. He chose Normandy to be the place of the invasion because it was in
reach of Bombers stationed in Britain. However, the planning did not go as well as expected
because of the lack of equipment and landing crafts because they were in use in other places.
The Allied forces sent out fake troops to Pas de Calais, the tightest place between Britain and
France, to make the Germans think the invasion was there instead of Normandy. They even led
Germany to think the invasion was in other place, for example Norway.
The last couple of Months and weeks before the invasion, British bombers began to soften up the
German defenses by wrecking railways and bridges (Brohier 1) so that the German troops could
not make their way to

Alicia Saathoff Case Study
In this assignment, I will review the funding proposal of Alicia Saathoff. I am the Committee
Chairperson for the Budget and Finance Committee for the City Council in Columbus Nebraska.
Alicia s funding proposal focuses on a non profit unarmed patrol service named Community Strong.
Community Strong s mission is to provide quality, responsible, and nonbiased protection service to
all Columbus residents by reducing crimeand building positive relationships throughout the
community. I will decide if Community Strong will help the city of Columbus as well as provide
capital funding to Alicia s proposal.
Alicia funding proposal is short and to the point. It is a reasonable expectation that an agency be
able to explain what it has done with the money, besides spend it, and explain what the public
can expect to receive from the planned operations of the agency in the upcoming year (Mikesell,
2017, pg. 111). Alicia s description of Community Strong is excellent. She thoroughly describes
what the public can expect from Community Strong. Her non profit agency will have a
prominent presence in Columbus, reduce crime, and provide additional safety and security to
Columbus residents. Her Community liaison officers will patrol areas by foot and bicycle from the

that dying for one s country would be romantic, noble and heroic. Brooke s poetrycontained
unintentionally misleading beliefs of what dying while serving your country was like. An example
of this was from his poem III The Dead where he writes that Dying has made us (soldiers) rarer
gifts than gold , deathdoesn t make you more valuable or rarer than gold , dying is dying. The only
difference between dying while in combat and dying peacefully is that in combat, you re

Death Of A Salesman American Dream
Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman shows us the necessity to keep the idea and hope of the
American Dream alive. Throughout the play, the character Willy shows us what happens when
the American Dream is at risk. When he starts to lose his ability to continue to live this dream it
puts him in a place of confusion because of all the years and time he has put in to live the dreamthat
people say he should.
One distinct way Miller shows how people stand by the notion of the American Dream. Miller
describes how Willy is living the dream. Willy had everything that is supposed to be a part of the
American Dream. He had a family, a house, and a job. The picturesque idea of what it means to
have the American Dream, but when he lost his job we saw

New Zealand s Constitutional Rules And Arrangements Essay
Firstly, the focus is on the fundamentals of New Zealand s constitutional rules and arrangements. A
constitution describes and establishes the major institutions of the government and endeavors to
regulate the power that they hold. The main constitutional institutions in New Zealand that are
subject to the constitution are the executive, the legislature, the judiciary and the Sovereign. The
main features of New Zealands constitution is that it is a monarchy, it is a parliamentary system of
government, and it is a democracy. New Zealand s constitution is identified as an unwritten
constitution because the key constitutional rules and arrangements aren t written in one document.
The rules and arrangements that make up New Zealand s constitution can be found in legislation
including, the Bill of Right 1688, the Electoral Act 1993, Constitution Act 1986, the New Zealand
Bill of Rights Act 1990, the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975, the Judicature Act 1908, in the Cabinet
Manual, judgments of the courts, the Treaty of Waitangi, and in broader constitutional principles,
doctrines, and conventions. Paine argued a constitution must possess four key features; it must be a
document, it is antecedent to government, it must be comprehensive, and it must have the status of
fundamental law. Whereas Morgan noted that a constitution, whether it is written or unwritten, can
only be authoritative if there is a broadly shared consensus around its authority and legitimacy.

The Influence Of Australian Canon
The canon is a collection or list of sacred books accepted as genuine. (Canon Define, 2013 Literature
included in the Canon, shapes values that are taught within society. With the influence that
literature has on society, why does Australia not have their own Canon? The answer to this; because
no traditional scholars recognise Australia as having their own identity. Literature could introduce
the idea of giving Australia an identity. Imagine the positive impact that having an Australian canon
will have on the Australian identity. A separate canon will define Australia as a country, different
from the European canon and create a wider sense of diversity. There are many recognised works in
the Western Canon, ranging from Romeo and Juliet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay about John Gotti
John Gotti If ever there was an incubator for crime it was the Italian Harlem tenements of the South
Bronx. In one of those crowded dirty apartments, a young John Gotti seeked an impoverished
existence with his parents and eleven sisters and brothers. His father rarely worked and then, only
at menial jobs, risking the money that the family did have on gambling.
Eventually the family moved to central Brooklyn, which was known as East New York. In East
New York, for a poor boy like John Gotti with nothing in the way of prospects, the Cosa Nostra
represented something to which he could realistic aspire to gain the power and respect he craved.
He started as many young boys did, running errands for the gangsters, ... Show more content on

With both Fatico and Dellacroce in the slammer, John Gotti was handed a lot of new
responsibilities. For one thing, he gained incredible visibility by reporting directly to Carlo Gambino
while Fatico was in jail. Before that opportunity, Carlo did not particularly value Gotti s crowd in
Ozone Park. To the sophisticated Carlo, they were just a bunch of hotheaded thugs. This was a
chance for Gotti to show himself in a different light.
Gotti brought home to the Ozone Park crowd Carlo s prohibition on drug dealing. But the
warnings fell on deaf ears. Many of the men very close to Gotti were dealing and using heroin and
cocaine. But Gotti kept the faith by warning them: If you re dealin, you re f..kin playin with fire,
and if you get caught, you re f..kin dead.
Through Neil Dellacroce, Gotti and his Ozone Park boys had a chance to vastly improve their
status under Carlo. Carlo had lost a nephew in 1973 to a kidnapper who collected the $100K
ransom and then murdered the boy. Gotti was given the opportunity to get revenge for Carlo.
The kidnapper was a man named James McBratney. Gotti, Angelo Ruggiero and another one of
the Bergin soldiers dressed up as cops and shot McBratney in a pub in front of several witnesses.
Angelo was arrested first and later, the police also arrested Gotti for the murder.
Fortunately for Gotti, Carlo gave the McBratney case to his talented lawyer Roy Cohn who was

Geroge Orwell Essay
Geroge Orwell
One of the things Orwell bequeathed us was the adjective Orwellian .... It is a frightening word,
generally applied to a society organized to crush and dehumanize the individual, sometimes
signifying the alienation of that individual if he dares to rebel (Lewis 13). George Orwell, the
pseudonym for Eric Arthur Blair, depicted the importance of the individual in society and the
danger of too much community in his literature. Through his personal experiences, however, he
explored the ideas of socialism and was torn between the individual and community ideals. In his
literature and his past, Orwell spoke against movements that remove the individual, but still
emphasized the importance of community. Thus, he advocated a... Show more content on

He enjoyed the idea that everybody was equal, but he still showed resentment towards it. His
inner conflict between these two ideas and his experiences as a member in the Spanish Civil War
caused him to choose a median between the community ideals which he saw and the individual
ideals which he missed: I have seen wonderful things and at last really believe in socialism, which
I never did before (qtd. in Chen).
With the start of World War II, George Orwellbegan his fight against Nazism, fascism, and
communism. In the eyes of many, communism became interchangeable with socialism, and he
criticized writers of his time that were in support of Stalin and his socialist movement: Why should
writers be attracted by a form of Socialism that makes mental honesty impossible (qtd. in Lewis
76)? In an attempt to pacify the radical communist movements and change imperialism, he spoke of
a third method to reform the British Empire a middle ground that would create a socialist
community in Britain. John Newsinger wrote, [He had a] call for a new socialist movement that
would reject both Communist style revolution and Labour Party reformism in favour of a third way
to socialism, a third way that he continued to call revolutionary but that was adapted to modern
conditions (qtd. in Chen). Through this, one can see that Orwell wanted to avoid such movements
as communism, which attempted to obtain control over the individual, and yet he had a need to
preserve the

Socrates Defense In The Apology
The Apology written by Plato, takes us on a journey of Socrates s trial. The City of Athens
presented charges accusing Socrates of impiety and for corrupting the youth of Athens. Socrates
defensive arguments take you on a trip, trying to show that the charges he s being charged with are
absurd. He goes on to defend himself by giving presumable facts as to why the prosecutors would
want to condemn him setting up the argument to automatically show that these charges are unjust.

Disadvantages Of Membrane Distillation
As time goes by, the fresh water supplement for living on the earth planet will become a serious
problem [1 3]. In addition, the Middle East is mentioned as one of the poorest regions in all over
the world in terms of water resources with less than 1% of the total available global freshwater per
capita [4, 5]. Therefore, one of the strategic options to satisfy the current and future request for fresh
water in countries established around Gulf is to build up desalination units. So, immediate need has
arisen to construct economic units for water desalination. Nowadays, it has been proved that
membrane separation processeshave several advantages for desalination and water reuse of
contaminated resources in comparison to the conventional separation methods [1, 6 8].... Show

MD is a thermally driven separation process that utilizes a hydrophobic, membrane as a contactor
media between two fluids kept at different temperatures where the separation is obtained by the
mass transfer of the vapor phase. The driving force of the process is given by a partial vapor

theoretical ability to reach 100% salt rejection [13, 18, 19]. There are commonly four types of
membranes arrangements for MD process: Direct Contact Membrane Distillation (DCMD), Vacuum

internal heat loss in comparison to AGMD [18, 25]. Therefore, these two arrangements are

Cherry Bomb Maxine Clair Analysis
Cherry Bombs, Hairy Man, and a Crazy summer Cherry bomb is a story about Maxine Clair s
crazy fifth grade summer. In the passage, Cherry Bomb, Maxine Clair characterizes key
memories of her fifth grade summer world. Clair uses symbolism, tone, and diction to
characterize her memories about her youthful, innocent, and happy fifth grade summer. Maxine
Clair uses symbolism throughout the passage to represent happiness and innocence of childhood
. For example, in the second paragraph Clair uses the word, hairy man as a symbol. Hairy man is
described as a symbol of fear. This represents the innocent part of the story, how she was afraid of
this imaginary monster. Another symbol that Clair discusses, cigar box. The cigar... Show more

Clair says, daddy said so, in the second paragraph. The puerile tone is evident when Clair uses
Daddy . It shows how the author is playful and childish. This adds to the characterizing of
memories in a happy way. My box of private things, is an excellent example of her restrained
tone. The author is trying to be reserve and private in the third paragraph. The restrained helps
capture the youthful mood of the story. It does this by not going into depth, which makes the
story seem like a child is telling it. I kept it in my cigar box as a sort of momento of good time, is
another example of Clair s tone. The tone Clair uses is melancholy, she uses this tone to describe
how things have changed, and is feeling a bit remorse. The melancholy makes the author seem less
innocent, by discussing how she doesn t want things to change. The different tones throughout each
paragraph contributes to the characterizing of memories. The tone also helps display the coming of
age part of the passage. In the beginning of the childhood children are happy and innocent, so Clair
uses a puerile tone. While growing up children become more private, and the author emphasizes this
with a restrained tone. During the time when children are becoming older they experience sadness,
and lose some of their innocence, so Maxine Clair uses a melancholy tone. Additionally the

Black Hat Or Devil s Advocate Process
Black Hat or Devil s Advocate Process
The best solution to the dissatisfaction that is caused when a title is held and not sent to the
payoff dealer in a timely manner is to create a dealer notification process. This process will consist
of contacting the dealer by phone, email or fax to notify them of the accounts that have a title on
hold for missing odometer statement. The solution should be implemented because it is quick to
implement, will have a low cost to implement and will have a big impact on the issue. If the
dealers are notified as soon as the title is placed on hold they can fax or email the odometer to the
Title Services and Support department immediately. The Title Services and Support department will
be able to deliver the title to the dealer a timely manner.
If this solution is implemented one impact that could go wrong is that the dealers could become
frustrated with BMW Financial Services if the Title Services and Support department does not
notify them of an account that is on hold or the dealer could become frustrated if the Title Services
and Support department contacts them to many times about an account that is on hold. A weakness
and risk of the solution are keeping the BMW dealer group contact information up to date. The Title
Services and Support department will need to be in constant communication with the BMW Group
dealers to ensure they are calling, emailing or faxing the request for odometer statements to the
correct contact.

Measure Of Crime And Crime
Measure of Crime
The U.S. is in a developing stage as to how to measure crime; however, there are different ways to
measure and gather criminal statistics, such as the FBI s Uniform Crime Report(UCR) that is
updated annually. The National Incident based Reporting System(NIBRS) which has been
developed to broaden the extent and depth of crime data gathered by police agencies (Dammer
Abanese, 2014). Throughout the globe and nations, there are different ways to gather criminal data
and measure crime and being consistent and reliable is costly and rigorous; surveys are formed and
people are encouraged to fill those surveys upon their personal desire and with many of them having
the opportunity of staying anonymous. International Crime Victim Surveys (ICVS) is coordinated
between the minister of justice in Netherlands and the United Nations Interrogated Crime and

of the executive branch on Colombia s congress (DANE, 2015). Crime measurement is highly
relied upon DANE and their collections, since it is a part of the legislative branch of congress is

In this project my aim is to develop a heartbeat sensing sensor using LED and LDR using a
technique called photoplethysmograph(PPG) which is simple and cost efficient, typically an emitter
and receiver combination (LED and LDR) is used to identify the heart beat changes occurred. The
light emitting diode is used to pass light through the skin the reflected back light(PPG signal) was
collected by the LDR to omit an heartbeat rate. Also the reflected light is determined as the blood

The overall threat is usually spun so that a majority of the citizens experience the fear it is meant
to create. A big part of creating this fear is deciding on what words to use when presenting the
enemy to the public. The language used to convey the nature of the threat is different in a
country such as Spain than it is in America (Wolf). For example, the citizens of Spain are told
that there is a grave security threat whereas American citizens are lead to believe, that we are
potentially threatened with the end of civilization. Of course, this makes us [Americans] more
willing to accept restrictions on our freedoms (Wolf). The tactic of using different words to feed
off larger fears of the public allows the leader to control a larger majority. It also allows them to
exaggerate the fears of the nation by using more frightening and drastic words.
Trump terrifies people into supporting him by preaching the horrors of the world and then

Environmental Issues In The Environment
There are many environmental issues that are affecting our planet which include air and water
pollution, devastation of oceans and forests, population growth, weakening of the ozone layer, and
global climate change. These environmental problems are becoming more and more of a concern to
political scientists and it will take cooperation from all states to resolve the issues. There are
different perspectives regarding environmental issues and how to address them; liberal,
constructivist, and realist.
Air pollution is due to industrialization. Since countries began to industrialize, the air has been
filled with pollutants from car exhausts, energy production, and factories. Air pollution causes
major health problems such as respiratory infections, heart disease, lung disease such as asthma,
and even cancer. Water pollution causes a shortage of drinking water and it is a sanitation problem.
Water pollution goes hand in hand with the destruction of oceans because we pollute the ocean with
trash, ship pollution, and oil spills. The destruction of the oceans also involves overfishing.
Population growth is one of the bigger environmental problems because it expands the other issues.
Population growth increases strain on the environment because we need more resources like food,
clean water, and clean air, which causes an overall resource reduction. Weakening of the ozone
increases the ultraviolet light that comes through which causes skin cancer, it can affect crops, and
it aids

Poetry Of Yeats s Poetry
Personally, I would have to strongly disagree with this statement as I find his poems interesting
and comprehensible. Right from the onset, Yeats became one of my favourite poets as I admire
his unique style and impressive language skills. I believe that his poems are a reflection of his
own life... An interesting and influential one that faced rejection from Maude Gonne, creating the
Abbey theatre in Dublin and winning the Nobel Prize for literature in 1923. I feel that he
captures a calm atmosphere in his nature poems using onomatopoeia and with a unique style
which draws me in as a reader. Yeats also portrays a powerful message in his political poems and
conveys his thoughts and emotions when he utilises clever similes coupled with alliteration or
assonance. The poems that I have studied are The Lake Isle of Innisfree , The Wild Swans at

He uses repetition which creates emphasis on what he is trying to convey. This is evident when
he opens with the line I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree . Yeats flaunts his poetic skills
once more through a rhyming pattern at the end of every second line. made...glade , slow...glow
etc. Also, I feel that Yeats depicts the core theme of the poem through vibrant imagery. The Lake
Isle of Innisfree is about an island that he finds personal solace on in Lough Gill and he
remarkably conveys this through conjuring the most vivid images possible and paints a picture
for me. This is evident when he states There midnight s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow
and I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore . Therefore, I firmly believe that Yeats
unique yet simple style lucidly conveys the main theme of this poem

Effects Training Has on Muscle Cell Hypertrophy
As discussed in paper one, readers can see the complexity that lies behind muscle fibers and the
contractile units that make up each muscle cell. At the normal physiology level, muscle fibers exist
as complex bundles of small muscle filaments. These filaments, known as actin and myosin bind in
such a way that allows for sarcomere contraction. In assistance with calcium flowing into muscle
cells, proteins known as tropomyosin and troponin ultimately allow cross bridging to occur.
Throughout the body three types of muscle fibers exist, these types of fibers are slow oxidative,
fast oxidative and fast glycolytic. Activation or recruitment of these fibers varies from person to
person depending on the muscle specificity needed to perform a given contraction. In other words
the innervation of each fiber depends solely on the muscle needed to engage in a specific exercise.
By first knowing the anatomy behind a muscle cell one can then have a better understanding of the
effects training has on muscle cell hypertrophy.
The two primary functions of skeletal muscle is to contract to cause force, and to provide stability
to the body. During exercise each muscle must be able to contract in response to the stress or
tension on that muscle. The idea behind muscle hypertrophy is that as a progressive overload of
stress is applied to the muscle, it is able to adapt by increasing the size and number of contractile
proteins making up the muscle fiber. Muscle growth or hypertrophy

King Lear Blindness
Literary Analysis: King Lear The Blinding
In the play, King Lear, vision and blindness are repeated allegories that relate to the characters,
Lear and Gloucester. This exemplifies the theme of self knowledge and consciousness that occurs
in the play. These classic allegorical is inverted in King Lear, producing a situation in which those
with well working eyes cannot see what is happening around them, and those without sight are
able to see clearly. What do I mean? Well, Lear is completely blind to the character of his
children, while Gloucester blindness is literal. Blindness is echoed through Gloucester and Lear to
explain Lear s metaphorical blindness with Gloucester s literal loss of vision.
Lear is a powerful man who does not see how genuine his youngest daughter, Cordelia s love is,
but believes the deceitfulness of her sisters, Goneril and Regan. Kent, one of Lear s most loyal
servants, sees the two facedness of Cordelia s sisters and tries to make him look pass the show
that Goneril and Regan put on and see them for who they truly are, and Lear refuses. Lear
commands to Kent get Out of my sight! The play echoes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Lear can see through a sympathetic lens, after having exchanged the pride for shame, revealing to
us that mental blindness can be more damaging than physical blindness. While Gloucester, who
willingly admits that [he] stumbled when [he] saw, is only able to see, though sightless, after he
has suffered (4.1.20). Only through the physical pain of losing his sight was Gloucester able to
see the truth of his sons. Unquestionably, the plots of Lear and Gloucester run similar courses.
However, Shakespeare employs Gloucester s plot to clarify Lear s plot. Through the physical
blinding of Gloucester, Shakespeare provides an equivalent, which contextualizes King Lear s
theme of consciousness and allows Lear s own metaphorical blindness to be fully

Women s Role In Lady Macbeth And The Witches
Lady Macbeth is the wife of Macbeth, a voice of action to Macbeth in the beginning to
approximately the end of the play. The Shakespeare play is about Macbeth who was a hero to a
nation, turns into a villain under the people noses. However, he did not do it alone. The verbal
abuse of his wife plays a sizeable start of the negative start of Macbeth. Though she is not the only
person to help Macbeth turn into a villain, the three Weird Sisters plays an important part also. The
wicked witches are another important female(s) role in the play, also giving Macbeth the push he
needs to start his plan. These two roles of important female cases are more alike than people would
think. Lady Macbethand The Witches is one of the main reasons... Show more content on

She is strong and independent she seems to control her husband at the beginning of the story and
talk sense to him when he starts to show weakness. In Act 2 section 3 She uses her women charms
to seem innocent at the death of the king, Meanwhile, she the one who makes the plan to kill the
king and she makes her husband do the killing. The witches present evil and darkness in
Shakespeare story, they are not human but evil creatures in the night. However, they are females,
even if Banquo makes an example on how people do not think they are. You should be women,
and yet your beards forbid me to interpret that you are so . (1.3.46 49) They are ugly and does not
seem feminine to others, they also break the stereotype of how females show be. Lady Macbeth is
beautiful and innocent on the outside but when she with her husband her true self shows. The
witches match the looks of how a wicked character should look and they are not afraid to show off
there connected to spirits. Even if these two characters show their evilness in different ways, they
both do have a greater evil inside them which females occasionally does not have, or what people
generally think.
The Weird Sisters and Lady Macbeth have very important roles in this

  • 2. Room 100 Creative Writing It was a typical day in the Tatafu household, with my sister and I participating in a match of our amateur version of basketball, my mother passionately gardening and the rest of the house basically lounging around. I remember distinctly that the day was the 2nd of February, also known as the aggravating first day of school. • 3. Difference Between Human Resources Management And Payroll... Human Resources Management and Payroll Cycle The Human Resources Management (HRM) and the Payroll Cycle, which represent two connected but autonomous subsystems, are one of the five core transaction cycles inherent in every organisation. According to Romney and Steinbart (2015) they can be defined as a recurring set of business activities and related data processing operations associated with effectively managing the employee workforce (p.443). In this process the HRM system conducts all tasks which can be grouped into recruiting, training, job assignment, performance evaluation and discharge of employees. The major activities of the payroll system concern compensation as well as allocation of personnel cost to products and departments. Since both procedures require a different kind of knowledge and skills, the associated duties are often segregated so that the HR department manages the HRM part whereas the Controlling is responsible for the payroll system (Romney Steinbart, 2015). The reason for this is that not all events are under direct control of the company. Moreover, there is always the pitfall of human mistakes and flawed decision making, especially as the application of the frameworks requires some professional judgement. Discuss Michael Parenti s view on human nature and why the topic is important for our course: Michael Parenti, author and political scientist, describes human nature as a topic deeply intertwined with politics. The reason for this is because arguments for and against human nature being unalterable and the cause of everything destructive are both ideologically motivated and have a political implication. According to him, to say that human nature is accountable for our current social relations is no different than what renowned thinkers of the past have asserted for their own social circumstances. For instance, philosophers of the Classical Era such as Plato and Socrates believed everyone belonged to their place in the hierarchy. That... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem that Parenti proposes is that the worst of these qualities are acknowledged as central, while the best treated as secondary. Parenti extends his argumentby saying that these qualities are seen as basic and are associated with human instinct. For example, some argue that people have the instinct to earn money and that this is evident in the fact that people earn money. Parenti discards this as a cycle of post hoc ergo propter hoc, in which the existence of something is weakly explained by holding the very thing s existence as its reason for existing. Both arguments on the topic of human instinct, concludes Parenti, fails to acknowledge the complex social processes that intertwine between innate proclivity and natural behavior. This topic is important to discuss in a politics class because it is a fundamental argument that can potentially give insight into how expansion of the capitalist system can produce political activity in the world. Parenti emphasizes that the global division of labor between the rich and poor and military coercion cannot be simply labeled as the outcome of the natural human way. For saying this is declaring the inescapability of the situation and dismissing all possibilities of social justice in the future. 3. The pleural effusions in a patient with AL amyloidosis may simply represent heart failure, but patients with cardiac amyloid may also have pleural infiltration with amyloid, resulting in disproportionately large effusions that are diuretic resistant and rapidly recur after a pleural tap. The existence of music dates well beyond any known civilization, and its gradual evolution drastically varies from culture to culture. To me, the notion that music is a mere reflection of society is a statement I used to take for granted. Although this notion is true to some degree, mainly with some popular music, my research has led me to conclude that all music influences society on a greater scale than one would assume. I moved on my own to a rural area in Washington State in an effort to live a more peaceful and self sufficient life, and pursue new experiences. Once I moved, my taste in music gradually became more refined. I began to seriously practice the classical guitar and composed for it as well. Since then, I also started experimenting with binaural beats and have used them extensively in meditation and other disciplines. This led me to research the effects of particular frequencies exerted on the brain, and how they could easily be used to induce different brainwave frequency states. I discovered how playing music helps to create a lot of new neural networks, increase the bridge between the two brain hemispheres (corpus callosum) and develop higher levels of perception. But the rabbit hole was deeper than I thought. I read books on the influence of music on society throughout the ages. Each specific type of music has produced an effect on history, morals and culture. I found examples of drastic changes in music that led to drastic changes in civilization. Different styles of music within a society led to different coexisting ideals. Sometimes new popular music led to a social revolution. • 25. Essay about John Gotti John Gotti If ever there was an incubator for crime it was the Italian Harlem tenements of the South Bronx. In one of those crowded dirty apartments, a young John Gotti seeked an impoverished existence with his parents and eleven sisters and brothers. His father rarely worked and then, only at menial jobs, risking the money that the family did have on gambling. Eventually the family moved to central Brooklyn, which was known as East New York. In East New York, for a poor boy like John Gotti with nothing in the way of prospects, the Cosa Nostra represented something to which he could realistic aspire to gain the power and respect he craved. With both Fatico and Dellacroce in the slammer, John Gotti was handed a lot of new responsibilities. For one thing, he gained incredible visibility by reporting directly to Carlo Gambino while Fatico was in jail. Before that opportunity, Carlo did not particularly value Gotti s crowd in Ozone Park. To the sophisticated Carlo, they were just a bunch of hotheaded thugs. This was a chance for Gotti to show himself in a different light. Gotti brought home to the Ozone Park crowd Carlo s prohibition on drug dealing. But the warnings fell on deaf ears. Many of the men very close to Gotti were dealing and using heroin and cocaine. But Gotti kept the faith by warning them: If you re dealin, you re f..kin playin with fire, and if you get caught, you re f..kin dead. Through Neil Dellacroce, Gotti and his Ozone Park boys had a chance to vastly improve their status under Carlo. Carlo had lost a nephew in 1973 to a kidnapper who collected the $100K ransom and then murdered the boy. Gotti was given the opportunity to get revenge for Carlo. The kidnapper was a man named James McBratney. Gotti, Angelo Ruggiero and another one of the Bergin soldiers dressed up as cops and shot McBratney in a pub in front of several witnesses. Angelo was arrested first and later, the police also arrested Gotti for the murder. Fortunately for Gotti, Carlo gave the McBratney case to his talented lawyer Roy Cohn who was ... • 26. Geroge Orwell Essay Geroge Orwell One of the things Orwell bequeathed us was the adjective Orwellian .... It is a frightening word, generally applied to a society organized to crush and dehumanize the individual, sometimes signifying the alienation of that individual if he dares to rebel (Lewis 13). George Orwell, the pseudonym for Eric Arthur Blair, depicted the importance of the individual in society and the danger of too much community in his literature. Through his personal experiences, however, he explored the ideas of socialism and was torn between the individual and community ideals. In his literature and his past, Orwell spoke against movements that remove the individual, but still emphasized the importance of community. Thus, he advocated a... His inner conflict between these two ideas and his experiences as a member in the Spanish Civil War caused him to choose a median between the community ideals which he saw and the individual ideals which he missed: I have seen wonderful things and at last really believe in socialism, which I never did before (qtd. in Chen). With the start of World War II, George Orwellbegan his fight against Nazism, fascism, and communism. In the eyes of many, communism became interchangeable with socialism, and he criticized writers of his time that were in support of Stalin and his socialist movement: Why should writers be attracted by a form of Socialism that makes mental honesty impossible (qtd. in Lewis 76)? In an attempt to pacify the radical communist movements and change imperialism, he spoke of a third method to reform the British Empire a middle ground that would create a socialist community in Britain. John Newsinger wrote, [He had a] call for a new socialist movement that would reject both Communist style revolution and Labour Party reformism in favour of a third way to socialism, a third way that he continued to call revolutionary but that was adapted to modern conditions (qtd. in Chen). Through this, one can see that Orwell wanted to avoid such movements as communism, which attempted to obtain control over the individual, and yet he had a need to preserve the ... In addition, the Middle East is mentioned as one of the poorest regions in all over the world in terms of water resources with less than 1% of the total available global freshwater per capita [4, 5]. Therefore, one of the strategic options to satisfy the current and future request for fresh water in countries established around Gulf is to build up desalination units. So, immediate need has arisen to construct economic units for water desalination. Nowadays, it has been proved that membrane separation processeshave several advantages for desalination and water reuse of contaminated resources in comparison to the conventional separation methods [1, 6 8].... Two advantages of MD are, the process performance is not highly affected by high feed salinity as see water, and has the theoretical ability to reach 100% salt rejection [13, 18, 19]. There are commonly four types of membranes arrangements for MD process: Direct Contact Membrane Distillation (DCMD), Vacuum Membrane Distillation (VMD), Air Gap Membrane Distillation (AGMD), and the Sweeping Gas Membrane Distillation (SGMD) [18, 20 22]. The author is trying to be reserve and private in the third paragraph. The restrained helps capture the youthful mood of the story. The tone Clair uses is melancholy, she uses this tone to describe how things have changed, and is feeling a bit remorse. The melancholy makes the author seem less innocent, by discussing how she doesn t want things to change. The different tones throughout each paragraph contributes to the characterizing of memories. For example, the citizens of Spain are told that there is a grave security threat whereas American citizens are lead to believe, that we are potentially threatened with the end of civilization. These environmental problems are becoming more and more of a concern to political scientists and it will take cooperation from all states to resolve the issues. There are different perspectives regarding environmental issues and how to address them; liberal, constructivist, and realist. Air pollution is due to industrialization. Since countries began to industrialize, the air has been filled with pollutants from car exhausts, energy production, and factories. Air pollution causes major health problems such as respiratory infections, heart disease, lung disease such as asthma, and even cancer. Water pollution causes a shortage of drinking water and it is a sanitation problem. Water pollution goes hand in hand with the destruction of oceans because we pollute the ocean with trash, ship pollution, and oil spills. The destruction of the oceans also involves overfishing. Population growth is one of the bigger environmental problems because it expands the other issues. • 44. Effects Training Has on Muscle Cell Hypertrophy As discussed in paper one, readers can see the complexity that lies behind muscle fibers and the contractile units that make up each muscle cell. At the normal physiology level, muscle fibers exist as complex bundles of small muscle filaments. These filaments, known as actin and myosin bind in such a way that allows for sarcomere contraction. In assistance with calcium flowing into muscle cells, proteins known as tropomyosin and troponin ultimately allow cross bridging to occur. Throughout the body three types of muscle fibers exist, these types of fibers are slow oxidative, fast oxidative and fast glycolytic. Activation or recruitment of these fibers varies from person to person depending on the muscle specificity needed to perform a given contraction. In other words the innervation of each fiber depends solely on the muscle needed to engage in a specific exercise. By first knowing the anatomy behind a muscle cell one can then have a better understanding of the effects training has on muscle cell hypertrophy. The two primary functions of skeletal muscle is to contract to cause force, and to provide stability to the body. During exercise each muscle must be able to contract in response to the stress or tension on that muscle. The idea behind muscle hypertrophy is that as a progressive overload of stress is applied to the muscle, it is able to adapt by increasing the size and number of contractile proteins making up the muscle fiber.
