Aims and Objectives
Healthy Drinking
How much should we
drink?
In groups:
Fill the cups provided with the amount
of fluid you think women and men
should drink per day.
• To stay healthy, it's important to replace the
fluid we lose when we breathe, sweat or
urinate.
• We get some fluid from our food but most
comes from drinks.
http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell
The European Food Safety Authority
recommends:
• Women should drink about 1.6 litres of fluid
that’s eight glasses of 200ml.
• Men should drink about 2.0 litres of fluid per
day, that’s 10 glasses of 200ml.
Let’s measure your estimations.Let’s measure your estimations.
Make a poster
• Have you met any lesson objectives yet?
What are recommended fluids for our
body?
What drinks should we have less of?
All drinks count as fluid including hot drinks such
as tea and coffee, but water, milk and fruit
juices are the healthiest. Alcohol should be
avoided.
How does drinking keep us healthy?
Feed your ideas to the person on the end of the string then they move to the
back of the ideas line.
• We need water so that our blood can carry
nutrients around the body and get rid of
waste.
• Drinking encourages the passage of waste
through your digestive system and helps
soften stools.
• Water Helps Energize Muscles.
• Water Helps Your Kidneys.
• Drinking helps brain function
• Have you met any lesson objectives yet?
The effects on health of an adult is not
