Q3) What kind of media institute might distribute your media product and why?
The first media institute that I thought could produce my music magazine was
Bauer this is because they are very successful and are known very well for the
magazines that they distribute. But after looking in more depth I realized they
already sell 2 very successful rock magazines (Kerrang! & Q). I then decided to
look for a different institute to use because I did not feel this was appropriate
after knowing that they sell magazines that are already similar to mine. I then
decided to use Time ink. UK this is because they are also very well known and
distribute very successful magazines, but this institute only has one other
magazine that operates in a similar market to mine and that is NME. This would
mean there would be little competition from within the media institution as
there would only be 2 magazines in a similar area, which is something that Bauer
has done successfully with Kerrang! And ‘Q’. I believe this would allow me to
appeal to my target audience because it allows me to get a big named distributer
to distribute my magazine and so it will be able to go nationwide and so there
will be a huge range of people that could buy my magazine.

I then decided to look for a different institute to use because I did not feel this was appropriate after knowing that they sell magazines that are already similar to mine. I then decided to use Time ink. UK this is because they are also very well known and distribute very successful magazines, but this institute only has one other magazine that operates in a similar market to mine and that is NME. This would mean there would be little competition from within the media institution as there would only be 2 magazines in a similar area, which is something that Bauer has done successfully with Kerrang! And ‘Q’. I believe this would allow me to appeal to my target audience because it allows me to get a big named distributer to distribute my magazine and so it will be able to go nationwide and so there will be a huge range of people that could buy my magazine.
