Media Coursework Evaluation
Question 3
Bauer Media distribute music magazines such as Kerrang, Mojo and Q. Kerrang is a
rock magazine, Mojo covers rock, punk and soul and Q covers all different genres of
music. However, my music magazine specifies in one genre which is Indie, which
would be a perfect reason to add my magazine to their portfolio. By adding my
music magazine to the ones that they already distribute, it would attract a new
audience with different music tastes, therefore increasing Bauer media’s profits. By
attracting new customers, there could be a possibility that they would take a look at
all of the other magazines that Bauer already produce as my music magazine would
be an advertisement for them.
If Bauer media did decide to start distributing my music magazine, it would be highly
beneficial for the magazine as it would give it an opportunity to be sold in places where
the more popular magazines are sold too, therefore customers might see my front cover
which stands out, placed next to Q magazine for example and want to have a read. Also,
even if people were not interested to buy the magazine, they could buy it for one of their
friends who could be interested or even just pass the word on that there is a new indie
magazine on the scene. My magazine would get to the audience by being sold in
newsagents, music shops such as HMV and Head, Supermarkets, and book shops, such as
WH Smith and Waterstones.

  • 2. Bauer Media distribute music magazines such as Kerrang, Mojo and Q. Kerrang is a rock magazine, Mojo covers rock, punk and soul and Q covers all different genres of music. However, my music magazine specifies in one genre which is Indie, which would be a perfect reason to add my magazine to their portfolio. By adding my music magazine to the ones that they already distribute, it would attract a new audience with different music tastes, therefore increasing Bauer media’s profits. By attracting new customers, there could be a possibility that they would take a look at all of the other magazines that Bauer already produce as my music magazine would be an advertisement for them.
  • 3. If Bauer media did decide to start distributing my music magazine, it would be highly beneficial for the magazine as it would give it an opportunity to be sold in places where the more popular magazines are sold too, therefore customers might see my front cover which stands out, placed next to Q magazine for example and want to have a read. Also, even if people were not interested to buy the magazine, they could buy it for one of their friends who could be interested or even just pass the word on that there is a new indie magazine on the scene. My magazine would get to the audience by being sold in newsagents, music shops such as HMV and Head, Supermarkets, and book shops, such as WH Smith and Waterstones.
