A small publisher like Future would be best for distributing the author's indie/rock magazine, as it focuses on a specific genre. A larger publisher like Bauer already distributes similar magazines like Kerrang! and Mojo that are more popular and would overshadow the new magazine. In contrast, Future distributes magazines like Rock Sound and Metal Hammer that the author's magazine could differentiate itself from by challenging their conventions. Distributing through a small publisher, radio station targeting students, and having an online website would help the magazine reach its core student audience.

2. A Media Institution is any of the organisations responsible for the production, marketing,
distribution of media texts.
Institutions are business structures that produce media texts and regulate and structure
media activities. They are collectives within which individuals are encouraged to work towards
a common goal and to develop working practices based on assumptions about their aims and
ethos of the institutions. Institutions assume the shared values of all employees and have a
status and power relationship with other institutions and the wider public.

3. I believe that a small publisher is best for my media
product as it is a very focused and specific genre. I
wouldnt want my magazine to be published by a publisher
that already publishes bigger magazines that are similar to
mine because readers are more likely to buy the more
popular one, therefore my magazine wouldnt sell very
well. My magazine overall develops the forms and
conventions of a usual indie/rock magazine, i believe this
is what could make it sell.
I would not like to be published by the institution
‘BAUER’ because they already distribute Kerrang! And
Mojo. These are two magazines that are similar to
mine. I would rather be published by ‘Future’ as they
distribute rock sound and metal hammer. My magazine
challenges the forms and conventions of these two
magazines so it would be different, and would get as
popular as these magazines.

4. My magazine could also go into other aspects of media
such as the radio or could sponsor headline acts at
major festivals. My magazine radio would be listened
to mainly students that are looking forward to summer
and the festival months. They could relate to my
magazine as we mainly focus on indie/rock genres, not
many other radio stations play this sort of music that
students can enjoy.
My magazine could also relate to its audience through
a website. My magazine mainly focuses on students as
its main audience, and students like to go on the
internet, infact, over 85% of students will log onto the
internet everyday, therefore this magazine would do
really well with its own website.
