Introduction
Wind power:
Wind is a clean, powerful renewable energy source which can be used to convert the mechanical
energy into electrical energy. Wind power uses large wind turbines rotated by air flow in turn rotates
power generators to generate electricity. Many individual wind turbines can be connected to an
electrical grid to transmit the power. Wind is an inexhaustible energy resource and environmental
friendly compared to fossil fuel which has disastrous effects and finite [2].
Wind Power in Hawaii:
In unites states Hawaii is one of the state that depends mostly on fossil fuels for power generation. As
fossil fuels are limited and have hazardous effects to environment, we have started to look at using
renewable energy sources which are endless and produce clean energy. Hawaii has ample amount of
wind to establish wind power generation plants which can generate power in megawatts to power the

The Iran Iraq War Necessary
It was in 1980, a massive attack was headed Iran s way, from its neighboring Middle Eastern country
Iraq. This war between the two bordering countries was nothing less than a deadly fight that did not
benefit either side more than the other. Costing hundreds of thousands of lives and damages that to
this day never be fixed. The question asked by many people still remains the same; was the Iran Iraq
war necessary? The war was arguably the longest and most conventional war in the twentieth century.
Before shots were ever fired the two countries had their dislikes in the past. For starters, Iran as well
as Iraq both wanted to claim the Shatt Al Arab River which was jointly located in between the pair.
The Ottoman Empire claimed both sides although the Persian side was not ruled by the Ottomans.
Based on the strength of this, Iraq claimed the east bank (Iranian side) of the river, a critical piece of
property, since the Shatt al Arab is its only outlet to the Persian Gulf. Iraq agreed to the share Shatt al
Arab with Iran in a treaty in 1975, which Saddam Hussein claimed was not true in 1980, just before
the war commenced. Iraq also claimed many of the disputed islands in the Persian Gulf. Saddam
Hussein was to be unwilling to change his mind, lacked military training, was a careless planner,
overestimated his troops, and executed generals who retreated.
Iran s government change is noted to be one of the most striking changes in history. Before leader

Civil Liberties And Civil Rights
Throughout history, society has pushed the envelope with civil liberties and civil rights by tackling
Supreme Court decisions. The attempts to manipulate civil rights and civil liberties occurred without a
clear understanding of neither of the two. While civil rights and civil liberties regulate collective
action, they differ by providing freedoms from the government and by providing freedoms to act; their
shift in history has been denoted by racial and gender discrimination, nationalization, and rights of the
accused. Civil liberties, as denoted in the Bill of Rights, had limited the government s actions by
providing freedoms from the government. Because the government could not take away the people s
rights, the Bill of Rights listed thou shalt nots, which limit[ed] its [the government s] jurisdiction
(Lowi pg. 107). A famous substantive limitation, or a restriction against what Congress could do, was,
and is, the establishment clause, or the separation between Church and State. As the first component of
the First Amendment, the establishment clause impedes the government s ability from establishing a
national Church; consequently, due to religious persecution in England in the 1700 s, the
establishment clause serves to protect the citizens from the possible tyranny of religion by permitting
the accommodation of all religions through assistance and by not allowing the government to show no
favoritism . Therefore, the United States refers to God on U.S. currency

Sound Connections Chapter Summary
Chapter 3 TONAL AND RHYTHM SYLLABLE SYSTEMS
Amber Hall
MUSE 100
Dr. Palmer
RT 2
The third chapter of Don P. Ester s book, Sound Connections, introduces many systems for teaching
pitch and rhythm. The chapter discusses the benefits and disadvantages of the many systems, such as,
Ester starts by introducing his idea of the criteria for selecting effective syllable systems. One of his
many points is, The syllables must connect very efficiently with the aural syntax of music, allowing
the learner to easily link syllables to patterns before encountering notation. The next being The
syllables must eventually link to musical symbols in a practical and intuitive manner. The last being,
The syllables should be appropriate for use with all ages. Ester also outlines specific guidelines for
tonal and rhythmic systems that vary from each other. The most successful systems chosen by Ester
meet these criteria points, and are outlined as to why they are the most successful. ... Show more

As Ester explains both of these methods, he is quick to point out the flaws and show why they are no
longer used today. The first method does not cover the primary focus of reinforcing specific letter
names, while the second method allows incorrect rhythm. There is a German version that has single
syllables, but it does not correlate with English flats or sharps. Another flaw quickly mentioned by
Ester, is the fact that a different syllable pattern has to be sung for each tonic triad associated with the
fifteen key signatures, making it nearly impossible for beginner level students to comprehend. This
clearly does not meet the criteria of being appropriate for all

Ethics Case Study Summary
Summary In this case study a view of ethics or social responsibility is presented. The case study
addresses what some applicants are willing to do in order to obtain the job being pursued or to get
ahead. A few applicants are willing to change or misrepresent a small fact on their application or
resume (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Some alterations are to conceal information that is
protected by law such as date of birth (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Other times the alterations
are made to make an applicant appear more qualified in order to obtain a job being sought (Gomez
Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Reasoning for the alterations aside, misrepresentations on resumes by
applicants happens about 30% of the time (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Resume/Job
Application Fraud Misrepresentations, on resumes or applications, no matter the size or issue are
considered fraud. While at the time the applicant may deem the actions harmless, the actions really are

Online Music Is Changing Mp3 Players
Perhaps one of the greatest innovations in the early nineties for music was the mp3 player. This may
be due to the fact that the mp3 has had a huge impact upon both the music industry and societies
listeners. Weinstock stated that, the world of the mp3 is a fast growing music technology available to
anyone with Internet access. Fan are promoting the mp3 as the most personalized music form ever
created that will propel music into the next millennium (9). The invention of the mp3 is notable for
producing and changing the music industry s role through the changed in the copyright and ownership
issues. In what follows, I will argue how the face of online music is changing mp3 players. Firstly,
through examining the numerous ways people can download and transfer music onto their mp3
handheld player. Through drawing upon the concepts of YouTube; a website for posting video clips,
iTunes; a digital media player application, Spotfiy; a music streaming service and mp3.com ; a
company to emerge around the idea of free music. Secondly, I will discuss the mp3 player not as
software, but as an object that is constantly connected between our body and new media. I will
formulate the notions of remediation and analogue to digital media as key terms that have allowed the
mp3 to become such a prominent form that was crucial to the experience of music.
Technologies are cultural objects that are created by other people, which give information about the
creator and its users. Every

Summary Of Id, Ego, And Superego In Fablehaven
The book series Fablehaven accurately portrays the three parts of the psychic apparatus, id, ego, and
superego, created by Sigmund Freud amongst the three main characters. Kendra, the first main
character introduced, represents the ego because at times she must determine to follow the rules and
play it safe or break the rules to help her family. Seth, the second main character introduced,
represents the id as he constantly acts on his own impulses without any regard to the rules which
usually lands him in trouble. The last main character introduced, Grandpa, represents the superego
since he always follow the rules of the preserve, as well as teaching them to Kendra and Seth, to
ensure the safety of them all from the fable creatures. Kendra, Seth, and Grandpa create perfect
examples of Sigmund Freud s id, ego, and superego.
Kendra, the first character revealed to the reader, demonstrates the psychic apparatus the ego by
representing the reason in situations that commonly occur between the Id and the Superego. The ego
must make a choice between listening to the id or following the superego. Depending on the situation,
if the ego sides with the id the superego can make the ego feel guilty. In the story Kendra, after
weighing the odds and letting her personal id get the better of her, decides to follow Seth into the
woods even though it stands against their grandfather s will. Upon the return of their sneaky adventure
they think that they made it back without anyone noticing they left; however, that night at dinner their
grandfather openly asks What do you suppose makes people so eager to break rules? (pg.59). Which
in turn made Kendra feel guilty. Kendra felt a jolt of guilt (pg.59). In Contrast, Kendra could also
represent the superego in place of the grandparents because she mostly follows the rules without
thoughts of breaking them. Unlike her little brother, Kendra was not a natural rule breaker (pg.53) and
If you don t get back in bed, warned Kendra, I m telling grandpa in the morning. (pg.167) represent
great supporting quotes from the text to offer significant support that Kendra could represent the
superego as well. With Kendras main personalities being her ego and superego it shows how rare

Analysis Of The Health Care Industry
The health care industry has the highest percentage of occupational hazards of any workforce industry
(SIC division structure, 2015). To control these numbers, several state and federal agencies were
established to regulate risks to health and personal safety. (OSHA) is one such agency was established
to cover all workforce industries, including health services and insurance. The regulatory authority of
OSHA is ranged to cover many types of occupational hazards and hazard communication. OSHA
procedures are intended to be carried out quickly and decisively in order to ensure and maintain the
safest possible working environment and to expose and halt any activities which cause risk.

trades that have associated risks. Trades such as housekeeping, food service, mechanical, building, and
grounds maintenance, and administration, each with their own unique set of risks (SIC division

A Brooklyn medical facility experienced OSHA firsthand as they were investigated in 2014 for failing
to adequately protect against workplace violence. During their investigation, OSHA found that
between the dates of February 7th and April 12, 2014, around 40 individual incidents of workplace
violence had occurred, the most serious of which resulted in brain injuries sustained by a nurse who
was attacked by a patient. All of the incidents involved staff members being verbally and physically
attacked by patients and visitors, or staff members being injured when breaking up fights between
patients. A witness for the investigation stated that the administration was aware of the violence and
threats, but did nothing to improve the effectiveness of its ineffective workplace violence program or
to increase security for employees. The medical center was found to have committed willful violation
of OSHA workplace safety regulation and fined $78,000. The medical facility was given fifteen days

Edward Kennedy Ellington Research Paper
Great American Composers
Over the course of history, the arts have played an important role in aspects of people s lives. More
specifically, music is something that has been around for centuries and will continue to play a part in
shaping people into who they are. There have been numerous talented composers in America, but
some worth mentioning are Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin.
Though music has been around for generations, during the 1900 s, Duke Ellington was a famous
composer in the Americas. Edward Kennedy Ellington was born on April 29, 1899 in Washington
D.C. to a religious family; his mother was a Baptist and his father was a Methodist ( Duke, n.d.).
Ellington had a passion for piano during his childhood; he had started taking piano at the age of seven

He also won numerous Grammy Awards as well as the Spingarn Medal from the National Association

music until he died from lung cancer in May of 1974. He will always be remembered for the daring
innovations that came to mark his music the strange modulations (changing from one key to another)
built upon lush melodies that ramble into unexpected places, the unorthodox (untraditional)
construction of songs.... ( Duke, n.d.).
Not only was Duke Ellington well known for his involvement in jazz during the 1900 s, George
Gershwin was also popular during that time. Gershwin was born in Brooklyn in 1898 to a family of
immigrants. He left school at the age of 15 in order to work as a song plugger (a pianist that
demonstrated songs) on Tin Pan Alley (Hingley, 2013). He soon began to write his own pieces, and his
first published song was When You Want Em, You Can t Get Em ; although this song was composed

The Great Migration Essay
As the world moved throughout the time of 1890 1945, the United states experienced a myriad of
events that moved it closer to the founding ideals. However, the main ideal, which was supported by
plenty of actions, became evident to be opportunity . Some of the events that brought the United States
closer to the American ideals was the great migration, women in WWII, and African Americans in
WWII. Each of these happenings/positions opened doors to other people allowing them to explore
new possibilities, hence why they support the forward movement to the ideal of opportunity . The

Immigration Policy And The Immigration Sector
Immigration
PAD 3034
Juan Sarmiento

July 9th, 2015
Abstract
In this paper, I decided to analyze the immigration policy. The immigration policies have had a deep
history. The policies have been twisted, in the long run, to meet the demands of the time. However,
most of the times, the policies have been unfair especially in regard to the immigrants. The overview
contains a rich history of the policy progression and advancements in the immigration sector. In this
paper, I decided to extrapolate on some few contemporary issues that are as a result of the immigration
policies and laws. One of the contentious issues is the Visa policy. This is a system that is widely used
by the US government. Though formulated with a good purpose, the formulation did not cater for
everything that is associated with immigration. For instance, the immigrants who are on transit for
employment are not selected based on the employment demand in the market, hence, they end up
being stranded and thus are forced to accept low paying jobs with poor working conditions. The
solution to this is also discussed in the paper. I have also discussed on the open door policy and its
implications which include overpopulation. Overpopulation on its part has directly affected both the
immigrants and natives with many adverse effects. I was able to do research, and I consequently came
up with a set of alternative methods that could be of help. However, I have also discussed

How Does Sarty Change
Even though young Sarty despises his father s (Abner) crimes, why does he keep these crimes to
himself and not expose his father? Throughout the text of Barn Burning , Sarty seems to have
repetitive feelings of grief and despair, yet he hesitates to out his father for his crimes. Sarty is hesitant
to out his father for his crimes because he hopes his father will change, he fears his father will harm
him physically or emotionally, and he places a priority on his family s wellbeing before his own. First,
Sarty hesitates to reveal his father s crimes to others because he hopes that his father may change.
Sarty is hoping that his father will change, but without him having to act against his father. This can be
seen when Sarty is astonished by the gargantuan house of Mr. De Spain. There, Sarty thinks; Maybe
he will feel it too. Maybe it will even change him now from what maybe he couldn t help but be.
(Faulkner, 40) He wants his father to change because he is tired of the life that his father is making
him and his family live. Sarty and his family have moved 12 times within the past year. Each move,
based on the past two moves, is more than likely based off the fact that Sarty s father has either burned
another barn or damaged someone else s property again. Plus, on top of that, Abner never seems to get
his family out of this pit of despair. It s a never ending cycle. Although Sarty is trying to convince
himself that his father will change without force, his father s

Standardization in the 1920s Essay
The 1920s became known as an era memorable for being a time when new products, new ways of
marketing and advertising, and standardization gave the country new ways to interact, enjoy
themselves, and introduce them to new products. Although very common today, standardization of
mass culture like magazines, radio, movies, music, and sports were exciting new innovations to the
people of this time. Not only did they distract from the monotony and stresses of work but they
created celebrities that people aspired to be like. Similar to businesses standardizing in making and
advertising consumers goods, the practice of mass producing culture standardized and sped up in the

Magazines flourished. One in particular was Reader?s Digest which presented condensed pieces of
writing formerly published elsewhere. Book publishers not only sold books though bookstores but in
departments stores or through the Book of the Month Club and the Literary Guild. Jazz was a new
type of music that took the country by storm spreading by live performances, phonograph records, and
the radio. During this time the work environment of many businesses changed drastically. Businesses
began using assembly lines to speed up production and gave employees repetitive tasks to do all day
long. However, workers were getting treated a lot better. In addition to cafeterias and other employee
associations, workers were getting paid more which allowed them to have extra money to put back
into leisure time activates. Many used the time they weren?t at work to seek fulfillment in what they
lack in the workplace. Because workers were not allowed to interact with each other, the time spent
out of work was used as time to socialize with others. Celebrities became idols in American society as
a result of media promotion. Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb were both glorified as outstanding baseball
players. Although Ruth was a heavy drinking womanizer and Cobb an ill tempered racist, nicknames
like ?the Sultan of Swat? and ?the Georgia Peach? made them heroes in public eye. Charles Lindbergh

Atkinson Shiffrin Theory Essay
Memory providing the awareness of our existence among people is a skill that needs to fulfil its
function. It is a cognitive process and there is no possibility of having the acquisition of information
from our environment and drawing on our past experiences without memory. The first studies about
memory are conducted in the field of philosophy and it was related to improve memory in general.
Memory has become a very important element in philosophy when we look at some researches carried
out in the last century. The fact that many philosophers such as Socrates, Plato and Aristoteles
concentrated on memory densely is still a mystery to be solved.
One of the most important models for memory is Atkinson Shiffrin theory. In 1968, the theory created

Security And The OSI Model Essay
Security and the OSI Model Network security is a topic that reaches far beyond the realm of firewalls,

ARP is a simple protocol that was never designed for authentication. Any end station that has access to
the layer two environment can claim any IP address if the proper security measures are not taken. ARP
spoofing or ARP poisoning occurs when an attacker s computer forges its credentials to allow the host
to believe that it is the intended recipient. If the attackers computer forwards all of the data that is to
be sent to the intended host it is very likely that the man in the middle would go undetected. At any
time the attacker can make changes to the data that is forwarded, copy and use the data, or flood the
network with erroneous packets that cause data collisions and effectively bring network traffic to a
halt. The process of wardriving is a new threat that has surfaced with the popularity of 802.11 style
wireless connections. Poor security with these devices allows an attacker virtually unrestricted access
to the data link layer and beyond. It is not very difficult to walk around various areas in a busy
metropolitan area and pick up unsecured wireless signals and gain access to private networks where
the owner has little idea of you presence. The third layer is the network layer. In the network layer
data is routed through various physical networks while traveling to a known host. Information
contained in the network layer allows routers to make decisions on how the data gets to its destination.

Corporal Punishment In Canada
To what extent should society adhere to the justifications of corporal punishment? In this modern era,
corporal punishment or simply known as physical punishment, is no longer considered the norm as it
once used to be. Even though in this modern western civilization many do not justify corporal
punishment, it is still legal in some countries for parents to physically punish their children; one of
those countries is Canada. Due to the Spanking Law: Section 43 still being in effect, parents have the
right to raise their kids in any manner desired, which includes spanking if necessary. (Barnett) Even

Drug Drugs And The New Zealand Party Scene
PHARM111G Drugs Society
Assignment 2: Legal Highs
Pre 2008 Legal Highs were the crux of the New Zealand party scene. Legal highs like Party Pills and
Synthetic cannabis have since been reclassified as class C drugs and have been pulled off the shelves
of all retailers in New Zealand. Since the psychoactive substances act 2013 there has always been the
looming suspicion that the drugs will make their way back onto the shelves, by bending their way
around the law or in the underground scene. The 2013 psychoactive substances act states the new legal
high drugs must have limited regulation in the form of licensing and pre release human
experimentation to test substance effects proving that they are safe or unsafe. Prior to this legal highs
were posed as an experimental way to try cull the sale of illicit drugs; but after such drugs as BZP
showed their harmful effects, this had to be restricted.

Essay about The Grade Inflation Epidemic
The Grade Inflation Epidemic
It s June, and another graduating class is hoping, among other things, to achieve high grades. Of
course, high is a subjective target. Originally a C meant average; today however, the expectations and
pressures to give and receive A s and B s takes its toll on teachers and students alike. This nullifies the
value of the traditional grading scale and creates a host of entirely new problems. The widespread
occurrence of grade inflation seriously affects the credibility of secondary and post secondary
education in America.
The definition of an acceptable grade has changed significantly over the years. Grade inflation seemed
to begin in earnest in the late 1960s after the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gary Coe, principal and athletic director of Mary Walker High School in Springdale, agrees. He says
that he has definitely seen a rise in the average grades. Some students are maintaining much higher
grades with the same work that would have earned much less even five years ago. He further notes
many recent valedictorians of his small school have received well below the average on their SAT
scores. Coe attributes his top student s higher grades and low test scores to qualities possessed in a
student such as: willingness to work and good attitude which aren t always apparent at test time. He
believes that even some of the best students take classes now just to get a grade and not to maximize
their learning. Interestingly, Coe doesn t feel parents put any particular pressure on the teachers to
bestow high grades on their children.
Teachers, on the other hand, have a startlingly different perspective. Kevin Jacka, the high school s
school to work coordinator, head football coach, and PE instructor for the past ten years, says he sees
now that the C grade is not acceptable to most people, and it no longer represents the average student.
The school s policy to make D a failing grade has limited the range of marks to three. He states that he
feels the pressure of parents and their children to give A s and B s , even when students do F work.
Incentives such as weekly sports grade checks, have

Calvin Johnson Research Paper
Calvin Johnson has been the best wide receivers in the NFL in his whole career being 6 5 240 he is the
toughest receiver to cover and his stats prove it. As seen in the picture from CBS sports. In 2012 he
had 1,964 yards which is the most ever in a season in the entire history of the NFL and with his stats
not dropping that much a lot of people thought he still has a lot of time left to make an impact in his
career. Except he announced a couple weeks ago saying that he was retiring at only age 30. Many
people have there opinions on why he is retiring although he has not completely said why he is
retiring. Granted, retiring at younger ages is becoming more popular in the NFL but there has never
been a player of Calvin s caliber to retire early. Many experts say that he is retiring just because of
how much he got hit during his career, being the only good wide receiver in detroit for half of his
career. Many of his teammates have spoken on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion I feel that Calvin could still play maybe one more year. Just because he doesn t have an
team wins like a super bowl although that probably won t happen with the Lions i feel that he should
give him one last effort. When I interviewed my father and he said I respect Calvins decision because
he s looking ahead in life because life isn t just about football this is a good point because Johnson has
been hurt every season he s played with just minor injuries keeping him out 2 or 3 games a season. To
sum up Calvin Johnson is one of the greatest football players to ever play in the NFL along with Jerry
Rice. Many people have their own feelings on Calvin s retirement from his teammates to random
people in the world like my dad and I. In conclusion hopefully Johnson will come back for a couple
more years or even one but if he doesn t he will still be one of the greatest of all time to play

Lloyd George Contribution
David Lloyd George was a British prime minister during World War I. During this time period,
countries involved in the war went through rough times. This essay will discuss George s early life,
education, his political life, highlights of his ministership during the war, and his life after his
ministership and the war.
On Saturday the 17th day of January, in the year of our Lord, 1863, in Chorlton on Medlock,
Manchester, David Lloyd George was born to William George and Elizabeth Lloyd. Unfortunately,
when Lloyd George was only one, his dad died of pneumonia, forcing his family to move to his uncle
s house. George s uncle, Richard Lloyd, was both a shoemaker and a minister who served at local
churches. Along with being a shoemaker and a minister, Richard Lloyd was also a strong liberal who
influenced George in his political life and his later life. Shortly after moving, George went to
Llanystumdwy National School for educational purposes. After going to Llanystumdwy Nation
School for a few years, he and his family decided that tutors would have more of an educational
influence on him.
In 1884, Lloyd George became a solicitor; he started his practice in 1885. It was also this year he
became politically active; he had campaigned as a Liberal in the 1885 election. On January 24, 1888,
David Lloyd George married Margaret Owen. She was from a family of farmers. Lloyd George also
founded a newspaper, the Ugdorn Rhyddid, and won the Llanfrothen burial case. In 1889, he joined

Essay on Clinical Practice Have Been Revolutionised by PCR
Summary: Two decades after its discovery PCR have completely changed clinical practice. PCR is a
gold standard method for detecting and identifying pathogen. By observing viral load it allows to
predict disease progression and therefore design a better treatment. It is allowing non invasive prenatal
diagnosis of many genetic defects. There are few limitations however at the rate PCR is advancing, no
doubt in future whole clinical practice will be dependent on PCR.
Background: Polymerase Chain reaction (PCR) is an in vitro process that enables exponential
amplification of the define target DNA sequence. The process involves three steps: denaturation,
annealing and elongation. In the first step, the reaction mixture containing target ... Show more

But one of its greatest contributions has been in clinical practice. The purpose of the essay is to
discuss how PCR have revolutionised clinical practice.
Method: PubMed Central (The U.S. National Institution of Health) has been used predominantly as a
source of primary literature. Some secondary literature has been used for definitions and to advance
the understanding the methods of PCR. Search engine also have been used throughout the essay for
other journal and websites.
Discussion: Prenatal diagnosis of sickle cell anaemia is one of the applications of PCR with high
sensitivity and specificity. Before the advancement of PCR, it used to take several weeks to perform
hybridization with a probe by using southern blot but now this is done within 24 hours.(3) PCR also
can be employed for the prenatal diagnosis of β thalassemia , phenylketouria, haemophilia and cystic
fibrosis.
The existence of foetal DNA in maternal plasma was first discovered in 1997 which provided the
opportunity to develop a non invasive method to detect foetal genetic abnormality. It have been

Analysis Of The Book Colorado Essay
This project was intended to show and persuade the audience to appreciate and enjoy the outdoors in
Colorado. But if not that then the purpose was to help understand the importance of wilderness to
some people and how it affects people s lives for the better. My main rhetorical appeals are, pathos,
logos, and a bit of ethos. The photo essay, the memoir, the film review and the editorial all appeal to
pathos more than the others. The instructional essay appealed to logos. The editorial and the
instructional essay also contain pieces of ethos. Also the photo essay gives the entire project an appeal
to ethos because it shows that I ve actually been on many mountains and that helps with what I say in
my other pieces.
Photo Essay:
The purpose of this photo essay is to tell the audience the story of my most recent climb and show
them that being out on the mountain is an amazing experience. I feel that my photos do a good job
with this. With a small amount of editing the photos accurately show what it looks like to be on a
climb. The order of these photos show the grueling physical challenge it is to climb a 14er. Photo after
photo of the peak getting closer and closer helps to convey not only the obvious physical challenge but
also the great mental capacity it takes to keep moving up the peak. The one thing that lacks in the
photo essay is some of the captions are more informative instead of telling a story. The caption on the
6th photo reads The terrain becomes less

A Separate Peace is more than just a book about war and stressful times. It is about maturation; in the
case of Gene and Phineas, this couldn t be truer. The two best friends who attend Devon Boarding
School have to deal with a stressful time in their lives, growing up and having responsibilities, and the
looming idea that draft age is not far. Throughout the book, the two go through a chain of events
leading to loss of innocence, building up anger and stress, and eventually: accepting the reality of the
situation. Their lives, dreams and ideals won t be same afterwords. Gene and Finny are often depicted

and is a nice sendoff because Finny dies not long after. Gene s acceptance is much more complex than
Finny s, after all he didn t die. It may seem odd, but Gene too was running away from the conflict, he
too did not want to believe he pushed Finny off the limb. This makes his acceptance harder, because it

Ancient Penguin Discoveries and Evolution Essay
Ancient Penguin Discoveries and Evolution
In a recent BBC News article, Ivan Noble discusses the possibility that ancient penguins may hold the
key to unlocking the mysteries behind the complicated molecular clock of evolution. Although a
seemingly unlikely animal to research, prehistoric penguin remains in the Antarctic often have been
the basis for study, research, as well as debate in the modern science world. Because the prehistoric
relatives of the cute and cuddly modern day birds have colonies that are characterized by high
densities and high mortality , large deposits of the subfossil bones have been serially preserved in the
cold Antarctic environment (Lambert Ritchie), making the animals prime candidates for ... Show more

The distinctive mutations, which are thought to occur at a steady rate (Noble), can then be traced,
tracked, and recorded in the fossil record.
Determining the age of the remains proved critical in the discovery. In this study, ancient penguin
guano (an accumulation of dung) was radio carbon dated to ensure accurate sequencing. Ages also
were assigned to nucleotide sequences from bones, either because the bones themselves were directly
dated or strata from which they were isolated were dated (Lambert Ritchie). The radiocarbon ages of
Adélie penguin bones demonstrate that both mitochondrial lineages were present at least 6082 years
ago, and possibly as far back as 8000 years ago.
Surprisingly, it is not the fossils themselves, or even the fossils old age, that makes the discovery
unique. The DNA samples from these bones, however, offer valuable insight into the same molecular
clock that scientists use to investigate the evolutionary history of animals. Because the ancient DNA
extracted from the frozen Adélie penguin bones was of high quality (Lambert Ritchie), scientists were
able to analyze any and all major splits between the two discovered lineages. By comparing the DNA
of ancient bone samples to samples from modern day living animals, researchers constructed median
networks in order to display relationships

Why Is Thomas Paine Important
Thomas Paine once said, Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state,
an intolerable one. Thomas Paine, the author of not just Common Sense but also The American Crisis ,
was one of the greatest journalists of the Revolutionary times.
So to start, Thomas Paine was born January 29th, 1737 in Thetford, England. Even as a little boy his
father had high expectations, so when Paine failed out of school at age 12 his father was very
disappointed. At age 19, he set out to sea, but eventually failed at that too. Paine became a tax officer
by 1768, but he was fired twice. After many career failures he met Benjamin Franklin, who

Allusions In A Separate Peace
A Separate Peace by John Knowles about a boy named Gene, who returns to his boarding school after

Finny fall from the tree on the bank of the Devon river is one of the many religious references in A

friends decide to investigate Finny s accident by holding a trial after hours, in the First Building.
When the truth begins to come out from the people present that day, and Finny does not want to hear
it. He becomes angry, not wanting to believe that his best friend could sabotage him this way. He
storms out of the First Building onto the marble staircase where every footstep can be heard, and
everyone inside the building heard his body fall clumsily down the steps. Finny s leg breaks again but
this time it is a much cleaner break...a simple fracture (180). This event to some extent is a religious
symbol because when Gene s loss of innocence causes the break it is disastrous but when no one
maliciously causes the break it is much cleaner. Finny undergoes the surgery to repair his leg but
marrow from his bone escapes and stops his heart. Gene says, I did not cry then or ever about Finny...
I could not escape the feeling that this was my own funeral, and you do not cry in that case (194).
Finny s death is a religious symbol because Finny dies through no fault of his own. Finny is pure with
a good heart and does not cause his own death. Like Jesus, Finny dies for others, and the things they

Privacy In 1984 Essay
In the novel 1984, George Orwell uses imagery and word choice to demonstrate how much people
value their privacy. This is proven when the citizens learn that the Police Patrol and the government
are spying on them in their homes without them knowing. George Orwell states that he knows there is
someone snooping in his windows all the time. Night or day, it does not matter. He knows for a fact
they are watching his every move. This goes to show that the Police Patrol and government have no
boundaries and do not respect their citizens privacy in any way. They are trying to catch them doing

They are always paranoid they are being listened to or watched, or both. This rings true when Google
and Gmail users found out a very important thing. Google and Gmail do not give much privacy when
it comes to the popular emailing server called Gmail. Google and Gmail have been reading into your
emails for years. From an article I read, the author stated, that Google s servers were reading all the
emails received and sent by Gmail uses.. (Jacob 3). This statement is showing how Google and Gmail
can access your private and personal information without you even knowing they are doing it, which
is a very scary thing to think about. In addition to the invasion of privacy and Gmail reading into your
emails, have you ever thought about the Police Patrol and government hiding microphones within
your home, school, or work?
The uncertain tone of the novel underlines how much the government listens in to their citizens. This
is true when citizens wonder if they are being watched and also listened to at all times. George Orwell
has always been paranoid of there being microphones where ever he went. He always talks in a
whisper because he thinks the Police Patrol and government are out to get him for something he is
involved in. These thoughts that Orwell are having are scary but true. It also shows that the Police
Patrol and government are trying to catch you

Fairytales are not what they seem. Essay
INTRO
Sex. Pure unadulterated sex. When we think of sex, it is not usually in the context of a fairytale.
Fairytales are for children, virgin ears. Over the years, fairytales have been cleaned up for young ears
we have become accustomed to the bland Disney versions of tales. How many of us can recount a
version separate from the animated classics of our childhood? It is truly hard to believe that sometimes
there are much more racy versions of these same tales.
Today, I d like to share one such variation of Little Red Riding Hood called In the Company of
Wolves, written by Angela Carter. I will recount ancient folklore of werewolves, introduce the
sexually charged characters as I walk with you through the seemingly familiar yet much ... Show more

She has been loved too much to know how to be scared.
It was the middle of winter, and the silence of the woods seemed to close down upon our heroine like
a pair of jaws. Suddenly she heard a distant howl of a wolf, and she sprang to the handle of a well
concealed knife, but nobody was there. Suddenly, a clamor among the bushed produced a fully clothed
and very handsome young man holding a very large rifle. They walked along the worn path for some
time together laughing like old friends. It was only a mere half mile to go till the warmth and safety of
her grandmother s house when the dashing young stranger proposed a bet. He insisted that with the
help of a compass, he would surely make it to the grandmother s house before she would on the path.
A game was made of it, and if he won, he was to have a kiss. At the mention of the kiss, Little Red
lowered her eyes and blushed, commonplace of rustic seduction. Although it was getting dark, she
wanted to dawdle on her way so that the handsome gentleman would win his wager. She forgot to be
afraid of the beasts.
TR*: It was this wager that was to signal the end of innocence for our young heroine.
The handsome young man arrived at grandmother s house first with a trace of blood on his chin. He
knocked on the door with his hairy knuckles and announced himself in high soprano as her
granddaughter. After entering he removed his disguise, and granny could see his matted hair streaming
down his white shirt, lice moving within it.

Dunkin Brand Has Transformed Its It Security Department Of...
The Security department of any company can be seen as the department that says no because they are
the ones who usually put the axe down on ideas. As stated in the article about Dunkin Brands, Security
departments have long been thought of as a place where ideas go to die, This idea has been planted
well into the minds of workers in every division of almost any business. Security departments go by
the book, sometimes can lack innovation, and tend to do things in order to maintain protection for the
business vs building the business. Dunkin Brand has reinvented its IT security department for this
reason. Jack Sullivan has it right when coming up with an idea to reimage and rebuild the security
world. He changed the chain s vision by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the ways that Sullivan knows that this new way of thinking is working is by the reception he is
receiving from other departments within Dunkin. We are now at the table for every decision as it
pertains to risk mitigation globally... he says. Security departments can also add value to an
organization by sharing knowledge within the company to better build a place for its customers. With
so many aspects of a person s daily life going digital, understanding how cyber security is vital to
every person is important. An example of this would be Apple s value of personal security through its
value of corporate security. In order to understand how to keep a customer s information secure, it is
imperative to understand how to keep an organization s information secure. Apple bases its decisions
off of the innovations of its workers. iCloud and ApplePay would not be at the forefront of technology
without the help of its security department. Through the idea of building privacy into everything
Apple makes, it is thinking of ways to protect the privacy of their customers. When you pay for
groceries, message a friend, track a workout, or share a photo, you shouldn t have to worry about your
information falling into the wrong hands. The personal data on your devices should be protected and
never shared without your permission. That s why we build strong, innovative safeguards into the
things we make , says the company s website. This

Biblical Explanations Regarding A Global Flood
The biblical passages regarding the flood make it clear that it was global. Genesis 7:11 states that all
the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. Genesis 1:6 7
and 2:6 tell us that the pre flood environment was much different from that which we experience
today. Based on these and other biblical descriptions, it is reasonably speculated that at one time the
earth was covered by some kind of water canopy. This canopy could have been a vapor canopy, or it
might have consisted of rings, somewhat like Saturn s ice rings. This, in combination with a layer of
water underground, released upon the land (Genesis 2:6) would have resulted in a global flood. The
clearest verses that show the extent of the flood are Genesis 7:19 23. Regarding the waters, They rose
greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. The waters
rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet. Every living thing that moved on
the earth perished birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all
mankind. Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. Every living thing on
the face of the earth was wiped out; men and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Noah to move and causing the animals to migrate? And why did He instruct Noah to build an ark large

global, there would have been no need for an

Economic Variables And Asset Returns Using Monte Carlo...
1. Introduction
Economic trends vary from time to time. No one ensures today s gain will lead to the consequence that
I will still profit tomorrow. Therefore, it is truly crucial to generate scenarios for various economic
variables and asset returns using Monte Carlo technique across multiple time periods. Moreover, many
economic variables such as equity returns, credit transitions and exchange rates are stochastic
processes. As a simple illustration for equity scenarios, we can use the basic Geometric Brownian
Motion, which is given by: , which is unpredictable random shocks . In order to deal with the
randomness, Economic Scenario Generators produce the forward looking situations for a specified set

2.2 Annuity valuation
When the policyholders retire, they can choose to buy an annuity from an insurance company using
the previous lump sum. The annuity will offer 20 annual payments paid at the end of each year. The
payment amounts depend on interest rate at retirement and can be formulated by solving: for the
unknown , where represents the lump sum and means the price of a zero coupon bond maturing at
time t as seen at time 15. Prove that if the interest rates at retirement are 6% per year, then the annual
payment are approximately £43,600, and then calculate the annual payments if the interest rates were
to fall to 1%.
Firstly, we can demonstrate using the given annual payment £43,600 to calculate the lump sum. The
lump sum is £500,088.5651 £500,000.
Next, we will use the £500,000 to calculate the value of X.
As known before, the lump sum is £500,000, which is the present value at time 15.
Using the annuity paid annually in arrears equation to find the accumulated value of all cash flows
received, , where is the annual cash flow, is the interest rate and denotes years. Substituting with what
we have already known, , we get

History And Culture Of The Cook Islands
History of Culture
The history behind the culture of the Cook Islands came from the various sources of ancient
migration, and early land settlement. The islands got its name from a British man named Captain
James Cook. He landed on the island in 1773. It was in the 19th century is when missionaries started
to come to the islands. They brought with them many sicknesses as well as churches and schools to
share the gospel. Through this, the island s dominate religion is Christianity.
In the Cook Islands culture, all the islands employed a chiefly system based on traditional legends of
migration and settlement (Cook Islands: Art and Culture). Born to power as chiefs and inheritors,
Polynesian culture before Europe s involvement, falls nothing short to that in comparison to Greece s
heroic period. Like Homer s concept in early 1200 BC, islanders adopted a similar and identical
concept of belief known as, Mana , or power. This concept consisted of: connection, feasting, dancing,
offerings of food, attitudes toward females, and the absence of individualism (Cook Islands: Art and
Culture).
Cook Islands culture is based on family and celebration. Since the Cook Islands are made up of many
smaller islands, it is relevant that Cook Islanders choose to identify first with their individual island
and secondarily with the country as an entirety.
Uniqueness of the Culture
Differing from other regions and their cultures, Polynesian culture is unique due to having their own

Jordan Dbq Essay
Introduction: Fighting and finishing Israel is of most importance to maintain our position in the Arab
world. The republic of Jordan after the six day war against Israel had lost a lot of territory including
the west bank, which was a big chunk of land, which Jordan had. According to new testaments Jordan
s King Hussein made it clear to Prime Minister Golda Meir that he must do so as to preserve his
position in the Arab world, and asked Israel not to attack Jordan.
Since Jordan was a part of the Arabic community of countries it had to make a decision to fight with
them or to let this war pass. Jordan making the correct decision made a final decision and decided that
they were not going to attack Israel because they came to a conclusion that if they did they would
loose more land. When Syria went at war Jordan had no other choice but to send men to aid and help
out his brother countries. But as soon as Jordan took the action of sending 500 men and artillery to
Syria and Egypt but every time their men were going take some kind of action they would acted
slowly and cautiously if they could. Jordan as a whole really did want to get into a war with Israel they
just had to pretend they were so, so they would be still in the Arabic community.
Argument Number One: The point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

just to die. The Delegation of Jordan does wants to make clear though that Jordan does not want to

  • 3. The Iran Iraq War Necessary It was in 1980, a massive attack was headed Iran s way, from its neighboring Middle Eastern country Iraq. This war between the two bordering countries was nothing less than a deadly fight that did not benefit either side more than the other. Costing hundreds of thousands of lives and damages that to this day never be fixed. The question asked by many people still remains the same; was the Iran Iraq war necessary? The war was arguably the longest and most conventional war in the twentieth century. Before shots were ever fired the two countries had their dislikes in the past. For starters, Iran as well as Iraq both wanted to claim the Shatt Al Arab River which was jointly located in between the pair. The Ottoman Empire claimed both sides although the Persian side was not ruled by the Ottomans. Based on the strength of this, Iraq claimed the east bank (Iranian side) of the river, a critical piece of property, since the Shatt al Arab is its only outlet to the Persian Gulf. Iraq agreed to the share Shatt al Arab with Iran in a treaty in 1975, which Saddam Hussein claimed was not true in 1980, just before the war commenced. Iraq also claimed many of the disputed islands in the Persian Gulf. Saddam Hussein was to be unwilling to change his mind, lacked military training, was a careless planner, overestimated his troops, and executed generals who retreated. Iran s government change is noted to be one of the most striking changes in history. Before leader Ayaollah Ruhollah Khomeini, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Civil Liberties And Civil Rights Throughout history, society has pushed the envelope with civil liberties and civil rights by tackling Supreme Court decisions. The attempts to manipulate civil rights and civil liberties occurred without a clear understanding of neither of the two. While civil rights and civil liberties regulate collective action, they differ by providing freedoms from the government and by providing freedoms to act; their shift in history has been denoted by racial and gender discrimination, nationalization, and rights of the accused. Civil liberties, as denoted in the Bill of Rights, had limited the government s actions by providing freedoms from the government. Because the government could not take away the people s rights, the Bill of Rights listed thou shalt nots, which limit[ed] its [the government s] jurisdiction (Lowi pg. 107). A famous substantive limitation, or a restriction against what Congress could do, was, and is, the establishment clause, or the separation between Church and State. • 5. Sound Connections Chapter Summary Chapter 3 TONAL AND RHYTHM SYLLABLE SYSTEMS Amber Hall MUSE 100 Dr. Palmer RT 2 The third chapter of Don P. Ester s book, Sound Connections, introduces many systems for teaching pitch and rhythm. The chapter discusses the benefits and disadvantages of the many systems, such as, Ester starts by introducing his idea of the criteria for selecting effective syllable systems. One of his many points is, The syllables must connect very efficiently with the aural syntax of music, allowing the learner to easily link syllables to patterns before encountering notation. The next being The syllables must eventually link to musical symbols in a practical and intuitive manner. The last being, The syllables should be appropriate for use with all ages. Ester also outlines specific guidelines for tonal and rhythmic systems that vary from each other. The most successful systems chosen by Ester meet these criteria points, and are outlined as to why they are the most successful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Ester explains both of these methods, he is quick to point out the flaws and show why they are no longer used today. The first method does not cover the primary focus of reinforcing specific letter names, while the second method allows incorrect rhythm. There is a German version that has single syllables, but it does not correlate with English flats or sharps. Another flaw quickly mentioned by Ester, is the fact that a different syllable pattern has to be sung for each tonic triad associated with the fifteen key signatures, making it nearly impossible for beginner level students to comprehend. The case study addresses what some applicants are willing to do in order to obtain the job being pursued or to get ahead. A few applicants are willing to change or misrepresent a small fact on their application or resume (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Some alterations are to conceal information that is protected by law such as date of birth (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Other times the alterations are made to make an applicant appear more qualified in order to obtain a job being sought (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). Reasoning for the alterations aside, misrepresentations on resumes by applicants happens about 30% of the time (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). In what follows, I will argue how the face of online music is changing mp3 players. Firstly, through examining the numerous ways people can download and transfer music onto their mp3 handheld player. Through drawing upon the concepts of YouTube; a website for posting video clips, iTunes; a digital media player application, Spotfiy; a music streaming service and mp3.com ; a company to emerge around the idea of free music. Secondly, I will discuss the mp3 player not as software, but as an object that is constantly connected between our body and new media. I will formulate the notions of remediation and analogue to digital media as key terms that have allowed the mp3 to become such a prominent form that was crucial to the experience of music. • 8. Summary Of Id, Ego, And Superego In Fablehaven The book series Fablehaven accurately portrays the three parts of the psychic apparatus, id, ego, and superego, created by Sigmund Freud amongst the three main characters. Kendra, the first main character introduced, represents the ego because at times she must determine to follow the rules and play it safe or break the rules to help her family. Seth, the second main character introduced, represents the id as he constantly acts on his own impulses without any regard to the rules which usually lands him in trouble. The last main character introduced, Grandpa, represents the superego since he always follow the rules of the preserve, as well as teaching them to Kendra and Seth, to ensure the safety of them all from the fable creatures. Kendra, Seth, and Grandpa create perfect examples of Sigmund Freud s id, ego, and superego. Kendra, the first character revealed to the reader, demonstrates the psychic apparatus the ego by representing the reason in situations that commonly occur between the Id and the Superego. The ego must make a choice between listening to the id or following the superego. Depending on the situation, if the ego sides with the id the superego can make the ego feel guilty. In the story Kendra, after weighing the odds and letting her personal id get the better of her, decides to follow Seth into the woods even though it stands against their grandfather s will. Upon the return of their sneaky adventure they think that they made it back without anyone noticing they left; however, that night at dinner their grandfather openly asks What do you suppose makes people so eager to break rules? (pg.59). Which in turn made Kendra feel guilty. Kendra felt a jolt of guilt (pg.59). The immigration policies have had a deep history. The policies have been twisted, in the long run, to meet the demands of the time. However, most of the times, the policies have been unfair especially in regard to the immigrants. The overview contains a rich history of the policy progression and advancements in the immigration sector. In this paper, I decided to extrapolate on some few contemporary issues that are as a result of the immigration policies and laws. One of the contentious issues is the Visa policy. This is a system that is widely used by the US government. Though formulated with a good purpose, the formulation did not cater for everything that is associated with immigration. For instance, the immigrants who are on transit for employment are not selected based on the employment demand in the market, hence, they end up being stranded and thus are forced to accept low paying jobs with poor working conditions. The solution to this is also discussed in the paper. I have also discussed on the open door policy and its implications which include overpopulation. Overpopulation on its part has directly affected both the immigrants and natives with many adverse effects. I was able to do research, and I consequently came up with a set of alternative methods that could be of help. However, I have also discussed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is allowing non invasive prenatal diagnosis of many genetic defects. There are few limitations however at the rate PCR is advancing, no doubt in future whole clinical practice will be dependent on PCR. But if not that then the purpose was to help understand the importance of wilderness to some people and how it affects people s lives for the better. My main rhetorical appeals are, pathos, logos, and a bit of ethos. The photo essay, the memoir, the film review and the editorial all appeal to pathos more than the others. The instructional essay appealed to logos. The editorial and the instructional essay also contain pieces of ethos. Also the photo essay gives the entire project an appeal to ethos because it shows that I ve actually been on many mountains and that helps with what I say in my other pieces. Photo Essay: The purpose of this photo essay is to tell the audience the story of my most recent climb and show them that being out on the mountain is an amazing experience. I feel that my photos do a good job with this. With a small amount of editing the photos accurately show what it looks like to be on a climb. The order of these photos show the grueling physical challenge it is to climb a 14er. Photo after photo of the peak getting closer and closer helps to convey not only the obvious physical challenge but also the great mental capacity it takes to keep moving up the peak. • 33. Ancient Penguin Discoveries and Evolution Essay Ancient Penguin Discoveries and Evolution In a recent BBC News article, Ivan Noble discusses the possibility that ancient penguins may hold the key to unlocking the mysteries behind the complicated molecular clock of evolution. Although a seemingly unlikely animal to research, prehistoric penguin remains in the Antarctic often have been the basis for study, research, as well as debate in the modern science world. Because the prehistoric relatives of the cute and cuddly modern day birds have colonies that are characterized by high densities and high mortality , large deposits of the subfossil bones have been serially preserved in the cold Antarctic environment (Lambert Ritchie), making the animals prime candidates for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The distinctive mutations, which are thought to occur at a steady rate (Noble), can then be traced, tracked, and recorded in the fossil record. Determining the age of the remains proved critical in the discovery. In this study, ancient penguin guano (an accumulation of dung) was radio carbon dated to ensure accurate sequencing. Ages also were assigned to nucleotide sequences from bones, either because the bones themselves were directly dated or strata from which they were isolated were dated (Lambert Ritchie). The radiocarbon ages of Adélie penguin bones demonstrate that both mitochondrial lineages were present at least 6082 years ago, and possibly as far back as 8000 years ago. Surprisingly, it is not the fossils themselves, or even the fossils old age, that makes the discovery unique. The DNA samples from these bones, however, offer valuable insight into the same molecular clock that scientists use to investigate the evolutionary history of animals. Because the ancient DNA extracted from the frozen Adélie penguin bones was of high quality (Lambert Ritchie), scientists were able to analyze any and all major splits between the two discovered lineages. By comparing the DNA of ancient bone samples to samples from modern day living animals, researchers constructed median networks in order to display relationships ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Biblical Explanations Regarding A Global Flood The biblical passages regarding the flood make it clear that it was global. Genesis 7:11 states that all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. Genesis 1:6 7 and 2:6 tell us that the pre flood environment was much different from that which we experience today. Based on these and other biblical descriptions, it is reasonably speculated that at one time the earth was covered by some kind of water canopy. This canopy could have been a vapor canopy, or it might have consisted of rings, somewhat like Saturn s ice rings. This, in combination with a layer of water underground, released upon the land (Genesis 2:6) would have resulted in a global flood. The clearest verses that show the extent of the flood are Genesis 7:19 23. Regarding the waters, They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet. Every living thing that moved on the earth perished birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; men and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, if the flood was localized, why did God instruct Noah to build an ark instead of merely telling Noah to move and causing the animals to migrate? And why did He instruct Noah to build an ark large enough to house all of the different kinds of land animals found on the earth? If the flood was not global, there would have been no need for an ... • 45. Economic Variables And Asset Returns Using Monte Carlo... 1. Introduction Economic trends vary from time to time. No one ensures today s gain will lead to the consequence that I will still profit tomorrow. Therefore, it is truly crucial to generate scenarios for various economic variables and asset returns using Monte Carlo technique across multiple time periods. Moreover, many economic variables such as equity returns, credit transitions and exchange rates are stochastic processes. As a simple illustration for equity scenarios, we can use the basic Geometric Brownian Motion, which is given by: , which is unpredictable random shocks . In order to deal with the randomness, Economic Scenario Generators produce the forward looking situations for a specified set of risk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using Time Value of Money calculation, , which is the present value, DF is the discount factor and is the future value. Under the continuously compounded hypothesis, we get , where can be either stochastic or deterministic processes. 2.2 Annuity valuation When the policyholders retire, they can choose to buy an annuity from an insurance company using the previous lump sum. The annuity will offer 20 annual payments paid at the end of each year. The payment amounts depend on interest rate at retirement and can be formulated by solving: for the unknown , where represents the lump sum and means the price of a zero coupon bond maturing at time t as seen at time 15. Prove that if the interest rates at retirement are 6% per year, then the annual payment are approximately £43,600, and then calculate the annual payments if the interest rates were to fall to 1%. Firstly, we can demonstrate using the given annual payment £43,600 to calculate the lump sum. The lump sum is £500,088.5651 £500,000. Next, we will use the £500,000 to calculate the value of X. As known before, the lump sum is £500,000, which is the present value at time 15. Using the annuity paid annually in arrears equation to find the accumulated value of all cash flows received, , where is the annual cash flow, is the interest rate and denotes years. Substituting with what we have already known, , we get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. History And Culture Of The Cook Islands History of Culture The history behind the culture of the Cook Islands came from the various sources of ancient migration, and early land settlement. The islands got its name from a British man named Captain James Cook. He landed on the island in 1773. It was in the 19th century is when missionaries started to come to the islands. They brought with them many sicknesses as well as churches and schools to share the gospel. Through this, the island s dominate religion is Christianity. In the Cook Islands culture, all the islands employed a chiefly system based on traditional legends of migration and settlement (Cook Islands: Art and Culture). Born to power as chiefs and inheritors, Polynesian culture before Europe s involvement, falls nothing short to that in comparison to Greece s heroic period. Like Homer s concept in early 1200 BC, islanders adopted a similar and identical concept of belief known as, Mana , or power. This concept consisted of: connection, feasting, dancing, offerings of food, attitudes toward females, and the absence of individualism (Cook Islands: Art and Culture). Cook Islands culture is based on family and celebration. Since the Cook Islands are made up of many smaller islands, it is relevant that Cook Islanders choose to identify first with their individual island and secondarily with the country as an entirety. Uniqueness of the Culture Differing from other regions and their cultures, Polynesian culture is unique due to having their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Jordan Dbq Essay Introduction: Fighting and finishing Israel is of most importance to maintain our position in the Arab world. The republic of Jordan after the six day war against Israel had lost a lot of territory including the west bank, which was a big chunk of land, which Jordan had. According to new testaments Jordan s King Hussein made it clear to Prime Minister Golda Meir that he must do so as to preserve his position in the Arab world, and asked Israel not to attack Jordan. Since Jordan was a part of the Arabic community of countries it had to make a decision to fight with them or to let this war pass. Jordan making the correct decision made a final decision and decided that they were not going to attack Israel because they came to a conclusion that if they did they would loose more land. When Syria went at war Jordan had no other choice but to send men to aid and help out his brother countries. But as soon as Jordan took the action of sending 500 men and artillery to Syria and Egypt but every time their men were going take some kind of action they would acted slowly and cautiously if they could. Jordan as a whole really did want to get into a war with Israel they just had to pretend they were so, so they would be still in the Arabic community. Argument Number One: The point ...
