Joethelberht Research Paper
The eighth century monk Bede, in his Ecclesiastical History of the English People, lists Æthelberht as
the third king to hold imperium over other Anglo Saxon kingdoms. In the late ninth century Anglo
Saxon Chronicle Æthelberht is referred to as a bretwalda, or Britain ruler . He was the first English
king to convert to Christianity.
Æthelberht was the son of Eormenric, succeeding him as king, according to the Chronicle. He married
Bertha, the Christian daughter of Charibert, king of the Franks, thus building an alliance with the most
powerful state in contemporary Western Europe; the marriage probably took place before Æthelberht
came to the throne. The influence of Bertha may have led to the decision by Pope Gregory I to send
Augustine as a missionary from Rome. Augustine landed on the Isle of Thanet in east Kent in 597.
Shortly thereafter, Æthelberht converted to Christianity, churches were established, and wider scale
conversion to Christianity began in the kingdom. Æthelberht provided the new church with land in
Canterbury, thus establishing one of the foundation stones of what ultimately became the Anglican
Communion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kent was rich, with strong trade ties to the continent, and Æthelberht may have instituted royal control
over trade. Coinage probably began circulating in Kent during his reign for the first time since the
Anglo Saxon invasion. Æthelberht later came to be regarded as a saint for his role in establishing
Christianity among the Anglo Saxons. His feast day was originally 24 February, but was changed to

Canada s Power Regime Changes From New Face And New...
As Canada s power regime changes to a new face and new political party, the nation state receives a
new vision. A new movement is introduced for establishing Canada s name socially, economically, and
politically in its global relations. Canada has experienced this in the face of newly elected Prime
Minister Sr. Justin Trudeau. Particularly inquiring of the dialogues exchanged within the conversation
between Sr. Justin Treadeau and a press reporter in regards to a tax policy change that appeared to
have a concealed contentious issue. The PM s progressive plans aim to be for the wellbeing of
Canadian society and building the pavement for a prosperous economy. Although Trudeau s interior
motives may be for the common good, for example to combat inequalities and class hierarchies
between the Canadian citizens, his plan however may only be justice for some citizens and unfairness
for the others. Analyzing this argument in accordance to the Rawls principles of justice as fairness,
and Locke s interpretation of individual rights and liberty to identify the rudimentary flaw in this
exchange and the defense will be the aim of this paper.
The exchange addresses Trudeau s new policy plan, which is attempting to give a tax break to the
middle class by taking away from the upper class or high income citizens, which in essence seems to
be resulting in resentment. On your tax plans, you talk about bringing people together but in some
ways it seems it is divisive policy...... The reporter

Ethical And Ethical Issues Of Business Ethics
The work of setting a positive ethical climate starts at the top of the organization as positive ethical
attitudes filter down to employees. Ferrell et al. (2015) states, the more employees perceive an
organization s ethical culture to be the less likely they are to make unethical decisions (p.134).
Business ethics is not only about knowing what is right and wrong, or doing the right thing, ethics
involves acting with responsibility, being objective when making decisions, putting honesty in all
relationships, and maintaining employees fairness. According to Hughes, Ginnet, and Curpy (2012),
conflict over values can arise even when an organization has clearly published values because leaders
and employees have divergent perceptions of whether the leader s behavior embodies important
corporate values (p.177). Unfortunately, GM s ethical organizational culture has been seriously
disconnected from the policies stated in their company. In the past GM s culture has favored cover up
over openness and legal contemplation over customer safety. The values embedded in GM s
organization were not put into practice. Product defects were concealed from top management as well
as the public, not only hurting General Motor s reputation as a quality customer driven culture, but
also the owners of GM vehicles who were injured or died. A culture of secrecy seemed ingrained at
General Motors, which can be blamed on former CEO leaders, the organizations structure, and

Creationism and Public Schools Essay example
Creationism and Public Schools
The issue of whether creationism should be taught in public schools, rather than evolution, is a new
one. It has only been in the past fifty years that it has even been in debate. Public school science
classes, when discussing the origins of life on Earth, coincided with Sunday school classes. Students
learned that the Earth, universe and everything else was created in seven days, by God, as stated in the
Old Testament. It was not until recently with the rise of scientific reason and equal rights organizations
did these teachings become questioned. The argument spurs from each person s personal belief, and
that is where things get complicated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These principles include a basis in natural law, and science is guided by natural law. Science has to be
explanatory by referencing natural law, and scientific conclusions must lack finality. When they are
proven otherwise, they are open to alteration. In a science course, for something to be taught, as a
science, it must follow these guide lines, yet creationism does not. Creation Scientists will not adhere
themselves or their beliefs to these rules, and therefore creationism can not be taught as a science,
hence the name pseudoscience.
The next debate on why creationism should not be taught in schools is based on The First
Amendment. The First Amendment states that the government shall make no laws endorsing or
prohibiting any religious believe. Public schools are funded by the government. Requiring the Biblical
teachings of creationism to be taught in school promotes the Christian religion. According to the First
Amendment, a public organization that is funded by the government can not promote one religion
over another. For public schools to be able to comply with the First Amendment, they would have to
offer equal time to every religion s view on the creation of life on Earth, which would be impossible
and once again, turn a biology class into a theology class.
This idea was also approved by the US Supreme Court, in the 1987 case, Aguillard v. Edwards. In this
case, it was

The US Copyright Law
The US Copyright law
The US copyright law basically developed from statutory and English Common Law. Hence, types of
work and copyright protection are slightly similar to the UK copyright law. The copyright law of the
United States also provides copyright protection in literary work , dramatic work and musical work .
In section 102 (a)(2) stated that protection of the US copyright law cover musical work, including any
accompanying words, as same as section 102(a)(7) which protect the copyright of sound recording.
Another relevant topic with music copyright is performance or distributing to the public. In
accordance with the US copyright law, section101 explain that to perform a work means to recite,
render, play, dance, or act it, either directly or by means of any device or process or, in the case of a
motion picture or other audiovisual work, to show its images in any sequence or to make the sounds
accompanying it audible.

The Impact Of Dutch Imperialism In Indonesia
The Dutch trade of commodities influenced Indonesia s economy in the way that they introduced land
tax, made trade routes, and printed money. The Dutch first implemented land tax by telling farmers to
give them one fifth of what they harvested ( Colonial Period of Indonesia. ) This system was called the
cultivation system. After the farmers gave one fifth of their harvest they got a fixed amount of money
that has no relation to the value of the crops. The Dutch and Javanese officials received bonus when
their residency delivered more crops... ( Colonial Period of Indonesia.) This made encouraged them to
increase production so that they could get more money. This led to corruption ( 1820 1950 Indonesia
and Decolonization Timeline Dutch History .) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Dutch provided clean water, modern medicine, and education ( Dutch Imperialism in Indonesia ).
This education, however, was only for males, and females couldn t access education. The cultivation
system that was previously mentioned in the previous paragraph meant that if the villagers increased
production, then they would get more money. This led to the Javanese villagers trying to increase
production by reproducing so that there would be more people in the family (Muhlberger). This led to
overpopulation in Java. Before the Dutch didn t use the cultivation system, but instead they forced the
villagers to farm for them or else they would punish them. The Dutch may have influenced Indonesia
positively, but from what the author thinks he thinks that the Dutch influenced Indonesia negatively.
The Dutch bringing their technologies for water, medicine and education was positive socially, but the
cultivation system, and forcing the villagers to work for them was not a good thing socially.
Overpopulation made it harder for people to share resources equally since there is over 1000 people
every square kilometer (Java). There is a considerable social distance between the rich and the poor in
Java. This is evident in Jakarta, as there could be a high class housing, then a few kilometers away
there are slums.

The Impact Of Islamic Radicalism On The Middle East
One of the most pressing issues in modern geopolitics is the rise of a radical and violent terrorist sect
in the Middle East. Most prominently associated with Al Qaeda during the early half of the 21st
century and as of 2015 it s even more extreme splinter group The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
While many in the West are shocked by the violent motivations and anti Western philosophy of these
movements the truth is that Islamic Radicalism has roots that stretch far back through the fog of
history to the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the rise of European economic, social, and military
might in the region. With the partitioning of the old Ottoman territories after World War I and
subsequent occupation by Western European colonial powers, the historical strategy of colonization
came into play; place a foreign backed minority led government into power to serve as a puppet
regime acting for the benefit of the controlling foreign interest. This socially unsustainable colonial
strategy placed the majority of many countries, including Egypt and Syria, into conflict with the
empowered minority. Other more homogeneous countries, such as Iraq and Iran, discontent to live
under the oppressive de facto rule of a foreign power, grew embittered towards their colonial patrons
and puppet dictatorships and turned towards the perceived purity and social benefits of embracing
political movements based in Islam and Pan Arabism.
Prior to the First World War the Ottoman Empire, sitting at

The Current Hostilities Between Yemen And Saudi Arabia Today
What are the underlying factors, cultural differences, and outside intervention leading up to the current
hostilities between Yemen and Saudi Arabia today? To answer some of these fundamental questions, I
will use the relevant aspects of the five core ideas about the social conflict which are championed by
Louis Kriesberg and Bruce Dayton s book Constructive Conflicts. Kriesberg and Dayton posit that
that social conflicts are universal, and can be beneficial; social conflicts are waged with varying
destructiveness; social conflicts entail contested social constructions; social conflicts can be
transformed, and that social conflicts are dynamic and tend to move through stages.
In order for us to be able to understand the dispute, we must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The roots of the current conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemen stems from
sectarian, social political, and ideological differences which are identified as contested social
constructions in the core ideas. Moreover, these social constructions are moving in stages and are vital
to the accurate assessment as to what has led to the original cause of the conflict. Ideological
differences tainted with sectarianism seem to be one of the driving factors for conflict. The newly
unified Republic of Yemen kept its Ba athist loyalties, and it s somewhat tempered Marxist leanings in
its governance. One of the presumed crucial trigger points for the ongoing conflict between Yemen
and Saudi Arabia is the 1990 Gulf War. On August 2, 1990, the state of Iraq invaded the small state of
Kuwait and claimed it as their 19th province. This is taken, and not without unfounded rationalization,
as only a small stepping stone for Iraq to directly attack the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its
expansive oil fields to the south. Saudi Arabia claimed that Iraq s actions posed a serious threat to its
national security and sovereignty and asked the international community for assistance. The
international community quickly responded with an immediate session of the United Nations Security
Council (UNSC) and issued UNSC Resolution 660, which condemned the invasion and demanded the

Analysis Of My Neighbour Totoro
The adventurous, visually enchanting animated Japanese movie, My Neighbour Totoro, by Hayao
Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli released in 1988 in Japan, attempts to show the viewers the innocence and
the sense of community in Japan before the prevalent industrialization and economic boom. The
movie is set in the countryside away from the big industrialized cities. The main characters are the
schoolgirl, Satsuki Kusakabe, and her younger sister, Mei Kusakabe. Their days are brightened thanks
to the spirit of the forest, Totoro.
Hayao Miyazaki, who is born in 1941, is incorporating his own childhood in the film. Furthermore, he
focuses on the historical time the movie is set. Meanwhile, noting that the movie is made in 1988
which is during the period of the economic bubble, he reminds us of the simple Japan in the 1950s
before the economic boom occupied the people of this country. In contrast to the past, people who live
in the city area do not get involved with one another s business despite how Japan has practiced
chonaikai for having an intimate sense of community within the neighbourhood ever since the revival
of chonaikai after World War 2. Hayao Miyazaki is able to reveal this specific ambience of the
Japanese community in the movie when the Kusakabe s neighbours, a young boy, and grandmother,
come to help the Kusakabe family move into their new old rotten house. It is also seen when all the
neighbours nearby help Satsuki look for her lost sister. Although the neighbours do

patients. Some argue that sleep deprived clinicians threaten patient safety since medical residents were
originally allowed to work shifts of up to 30 hours straight. However, the Accreditation Council for
Graduate Medical Education updated its standards back in 2011, limiting residents in their first years
to work at a maximum of 16 hour shifts or 80 hour workweeks, and others to 24 hour shifts. This
study focuses on a clinical trial on work hours for medical students in residency that argue that there

The elderly Berkeley had some secret scheme in mind, having governing Virginia since 1641, he
wanted to maintain an alliances relationship with friendly neighboring Natives tribes and uses them as
the buffers while fighting the Susquehannocks war, and in fact maintaining his fur trade monopoly. On
the other side, Bacon and his followers, the discontented Virginians blamed the Natives, friendly or
not, for all their problems. Theirs viewed of the Susquehannocks war as an opportunity to solve all
their problems at once, for good.
Not being able to convince the Governor for the commission he felt warranted, Bacon secretly fled

Governor and the Council were in the meeting. In the meantime, the news flock Jamestown with more

Contract Transfer of Title to Real Property Essay
What advice R.J. is likely to give Padrina depends predominantly upon whether she and Orande have
an enforceable agreement. For a contract involving an agreement to transfer title to real property, as
here, to be enforceable, more than offer, acceptance and consideration must be present. The contract
must also comply with the Statute of Frauds. The Statute of Frauds requires that either the contract or
some memorandum of it is in writing and that writing is signed by the party to be charged. The writing
must also contain sufficient evidence of the contract s terms. Here, we are told to assume there is a
contract. However, there is no mention or evidence that the contract is in writing. So, we need to see if

In many cases where the parties did not specify some terms, the courts will presume they intended to
act according to a normative standard in the community. Here, the facts state the parties had a
contract. So, we do not need to address the formation issues. The property description does not have to
be a legal description if the evidence shows that, as between the seller and buyer, there was an
understanding of which property was involved. Here, there is no legal description. But, there is no
evidence Orande owned any other property known as CALIacre in Las Nachos. Therefore, this note
probably meets the property description test. The note refers to the parties by name. So, it provides
that term. The note refers to Orande s agreement to sell and Padrina s to buy CALIacre with the
attached apartment. As a result, it provides evidence of their agreement to sell and buy. The notes state
the price as $1,500,000. So, it meets that requirement. When, as here, the parties fail to state the terms
of payment, courts presume payment is in cash at the time of closing. Here, the note refers to a
mortgage amount and Padrina s having the rest of the money in cash. Therefore, a court would likely
presume they intended a cash payment to Orande at the time of closing. If the parties fail to state a
closing date, courts infer they intended to close within a reasonable time after they entered into their

Augustine On Free Will Analysis
In Augustine s On Free Choice of the Will he explains that the human soul is predisposed to have a
good will and that it is a will by which we desire to live upright and honorable lives and to attain the
highest wisdom (Augustine 19, 1993). Augustine believes that in order to be free we must live
according to our good will. To follow our good will we must live according to the four main virtues in
life: prudence, fortitude, temperance, and justice. He defines prudence as having the knowledge of
what is to be desired and what is to be avoided (Augustine 20, 1993). Augustine establishes fortitude
as the disposition of the soul by which we have no fear of misfortune or of the loss of things that are

that to be happy in life you must have more than just temporary possessions such as money or health,
Augustine defines these possessions as temporal objects. In order to have a good will we must make a

Gilded Age Essay
Gilded is defined as having a golden appearance concealing something that has little to no worth
underneath. During the Gilded Age, the wealthy companies were able to accumulate a surplus amount
of wealth and large profits. Since companies are trying to make as much profit as possible. Often
times, companies will try to cut corners and not spend money towards its employees that way the
industry can reep most the benefits from the profit. Although, this can usually make matters worse and
be counterproductive to solving the issues at hand regarding the employees. Many people were
dramatically affected by the changes made to ensure companies obtain the most profit. When an
individual person informed their employer of an issue it was often overlooked thus leading to the
creation of unions. These unions gave individuals the power of numbers. Laborers began standing
together to fight for their rights. The unions created specific strategies pertaining to each member to
help protect the laborers rights. The American Federation of Labor and the Industrial Workers of the
World created strategies to help their members obtain better treatment from the companies.
In 1886, the American Federation of Labor was created by combining 25 craft unions filled with only
skilled workers. The significance of only allowing skilled workers within the group was to ensure that
workers could keep their identity. The skilled workers identity was that they brought a skill to the table

Resource Leveling Issue Analysis Paper
When a project manager identifies that resources must be leveled within certain areas of the project he
or she should utilize resource leveling approaches. Resource leveling examines the unequal utilization
of resources and makes them equally available through the project. One of the risks associated with
resource leveling is the decrease in productivity as a result of resources shifting from one task or area
to another. In the case of the resources in question being people, teams from where these employees
will be coming from to support the other task might feel additional workloads which in turn could lead
to unhappiness in team members, and can result in decreased productivity (Damci, Arditi Polat, 2013,

accidents more likely. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
estimates that driving distractions, including the use of cell phones, contribute to 25% of
all traffic crashes. [14] 4. The radio frequency (RF) emissions from cell phones have been shown to
damage
genetic material in blood cells which is a common precursor to cancer. [15] 5. Driving while talking
on a cell phone is as dangerous as driving drunk. According to
researchers at the University of Utah people who drive while talking on their cell phones
are as impaired as drunk drivers with a blood alcohol level of 0.08%. [16] 6. Children are at an
increased risk for adverse health effects from cell phone radiation. One
study has shown that children under the age of eight absorb twice the amount of radiation
into their brain tissue as adults due to their lower skull thickness. [17] 7. The radiofrequency radiation
from cell phones can damage the DNA in sperm. Cell
phone storage in front pockets has been linked to poor fertility and an increased chance of
miscarriage and childhood cancer. According to the Cleveland Clinic Center for

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Argumentative Essay
When medication fails to relax the symptoms of mental illness, there are other options that are tried.
Brain stimulation techniques such as electroconvulsive therapy, for example, can be used to treat
illnesses that have not responded to standard treatments. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) has been
used to treat psychiatric patients since the late 1938. The main reason for ECT treatments in North
America and Europe were to treat mood disorders (bipolar depression, and unipolar depression) and
schizophrenia (Pitidhammabhorn et al. 5). Milos Forman s unrealistic portrayal of electroconvulsive
therapy (ECT) in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest negatively shaped the general public s
perceptions of this medical procedure. As a result, many unenlightened ... Show more content on

ECT was done in operating rooms by the psychiatric staff. Before the ECT was even administered, the
staff would make sure that the patient did not feel a thing during the procedure. Anesthetic drugs used
routinely are thiopental, or propofol and the typical muscle relaxant is succinylcholine
(Pitidhammabhorn, et al. 6). So, today s patients that receive ECT are given muscle relaxants and
anesthetic so they do not feel any pain. Also, patients are given electric shocks while they are
unconscious. With all of this said, the modified version of electroconvulsive therapy is completely
same and is not a brutal procedure because, the patients do not endure any pain throughout the whole
thing. ECT has become much safer than the dangerous past shown in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s
Nest. Electroconvulsive therapy has little resemblance to that depiction. ECT brings about fast results
compared to some other medications and treatments. After the shock, there is immediate relief to the
symptoms of many mental illnesses. The electric current only lasts for a few seconds and the seizure
lasts for about a minute. Many medications take weeks to become effective and ECT is an ideal option
for those people that need the relief right away. ECT has often worked when many other treatments

A Unique Approach
REA has been inspired by a unique approach called Reggio Emilia Philosophy and it is to develop a
unique, fun, and developmental appropriate program for our children. To our eyes, each child is seen
as a capable, powerful, inquiring, and creative individual; our school instructors trust that the play the
children engage in has value. Play is seen as a tool that children utilize daily to explore and to try to
make sense of their world. Here, Children are able to test their idea, interest and solve problems
through play. In addition, we have strong emphasize on expressive art. We believe that it gives
children the opportunity to look and experience the world in a unique way. We encourage children to
use all their senses in order to have a greater understanding of their environments. We find it so
interesting to see not only the child s final product of their work, but the whole process as well. The
relationship between teachers, parents and the children is a very important part of the educational
experience of a child. Our goal is not simply to build a warm and nurturing connection with each
child, but to extend that connection to another level by giving each child a sense of belonging. We
maintain an open door policy all year round, encouraging our parents to become involve with us and
help us create a better environment for the children. Furthermore, we encourage parents to provide us
with ideas of community service. We really like to work together as a family in

Communication Theory Of Identity In Advertising
Are you an Apple user or an Android user? I m sure you ve heard a similar debate of differing brands
in your lifetime. I, like others, usually don t put much thought into questions like these and quickly
reply I m an Apple user I love Apple . However, even the simplest questions of preference can have
root in our identities and how we communicate to others around us. Studies show that consumers often
chose brands that they feel align to their self image (Andreea Catalin, 2014). Advertising, along with
other communication industries, uses the concept of identity to promote messages. I would even go as
far to say that individual consumers have developed the image of themselves from what products they
use a very powerful tool in advertising. Scholars have stated similar saying that identity is a code that
consists of symbols (possessions), words (self description) and the meanings that you and others give
to these things (Littlejohn Foss, 2011). It is important to understand how we come to define ourselves
since identity effects many aspects of our life, such as what phone we will use to our overall health.
Michael L. Hecht has developed a theory that explains identity, known as the communication theory
of identity. CTI views identity in the sociocultural tradition, assuming that social relationships
prefigure individual differences, allowing for a unified yet flexible sense of self (Littlejohn Foss,
2011). CTI is set in the philosophical framework of ontology, or

The Social Security Act
Introduction
A. National Scale In the United States, child support is court mandated and requires the non custodial
parent of a minor or minors to make payments to ensure that their child is financially taken care of.
Title IV D of the Social Security Act requires that all States establish a comprehensive program which
works to locate non custodial parents of children receiving welfare and to obtain child support from
any parents located (Saltzman, Furman, and Ohman, 2014). Many incarcerated offenders are unaware
that their child support payments accrue while they are incarcerated, potentially leading to a financial
nightmare. A parent s incarceration may not allow deviation from the guidelines set forth by the state.

A downward modification petition, requests a hearing for a judge to. In 2010, the state enacted
changes to the New York Family Court Act and Domestic Relations Law. This new law specifically
states that incarceration shall not be a bar to finding a substantial change in circumstances as long as
the incarceration is not for nonpayment of support, or an offense against the custodial parent or child.
The amendment now allows the courts to modify support orders for incarcerated parents whenever
appropriate, preventing accumulation of uncollectible arrears (Child Support, 2015). Child support
orders prior to October 12, 2010 are subject to incarceration being treated as voluntary unemployment
and typically may not be modified. Child support orders after October 12, 2010, incarceration shall
not be a bar to finding a substantial change in circumstances provided such incarceration is not the
result of nonpayment of an order of support for child support, or an offense against the custodial
parent or the child who is the subject of the judgment (Child Support, 2015). Additionally,
incarcerated offenders can request enrollment in the Arrears Cap Program, which can limit child
support debt owed to the government, also known as the New York City Department of Social
Services (DSS) due to their income falling below the poverty line. Unfortunately, if an incarcerated
offender has missed payments on their child support order, the downward modification only

A Consensus On Our Policy Analysis Framework
In this paper I will be discussing how our class came to a consensus on our policy analysis framework.
To understand what we are attempting to accomplish, you need to understand the denotation of policy
analysis. Policy analysis is a technique used in public administration so individuals can evaluate and
scrutinize policies. Policy analysis is not only limited to policy s that are already enacted, policy
analysis can be used to analyze perspective policy s. There are already a handful of policy analysis
frameworks available for use. These include: Chambers 2009, Gilbert and Terrell 2009, Popple and
Leighninger 2004, and Dobelstein 2003. Many of the frameworks are heavily influenced by the work
of Eveline Burns, who was prevalent in the 1940 s and 1950 s. While these frameworks would have
been suitable to use for our analysis our class chose to create our own framework to help with
analysis. In these next few paragraphs I will explain how and why we chose what we did. The first
part of our policy analysis framework that we made was the goals and objectives section. We took this
specific concept from Chambers framework, although many of the other frameworks also use this
concept. The class came to a consensus as to what the definition would mean specifically. We all
chose to measure the policy s intended impact, as well as the policy s actual impact. We also agreed on
that participation in the program helps as a stepping stone for these individuals. What we mean by this

October 29, 2012 Question # 1 Create an environmental scan for the company indicating the most
significant environmental threats and discuss how the company should respond to each threat to
ensure that the impact to the business is minimal. Companies and industries are constantly impacted
by their surroundings. For example, all companies operate in a macro environment shaped by
influences [including threats] emanating from general economic conditions; population demographics;

The factors, issues, and occurrences that are found in a company s industry and competitive
environment should be considered the strongest of the external threats. However, the factors and
forces in a company s macro environment having the biggest strategy shaping impact typically pertain
to the company s immediate industry and competitive environment the actions of rivals firms, buyer
behavior, supplier related conditions, and so on (Thompson, et al., 2010, p. 57). Environmental
scanning is very important to the health and success of a business. This is especially true of SRI .
Since SRI is dealing a lot with the foreclosure and REO markets, environmental scanning will be
needed to keep the company abreast of constant and volatile changes in this market. SRI will
constantly need to use this process to be able to keep up with changes in different variations in their
macro environment. Babatunde, amp; Adebisi states that: Environmental scanning is the process of
dealing with the measurement, projection and evaluation of changes in the different environment
variables (Oladele, 2006). Most of the organization[s] today are developing different types of
strategies that will sustain them in their business environment, and this can only be achieved through
the analysis of the environment.(Opportunity and Threats). Oladele (2006) stated some importance to
environmental scanning as

The APhA Career Pathway Evaluation Program for Pharmacy Student was held on March 09, 2016 at
carver hall by Dr. G. Lawrence Hogue. The main goal of the program was to help students make
informed decision and to help them see what pharmacy practice setting would be a best fit. Even
before taking this program, I know I would have a bright future in my career because it can open up so
many doors. I have had an idea of the different opportunities that I would have once I earned my
Pharm D. But, I was surprised to learn that there are so many opportunities that I have not even
considered. The program was eye opening, I learned that with my personality and values, there are

How to Successfully Grow Peaches
Although growing peaches (Prunus persica) can be a rewarding venture, they re susceptible to mold
growth that, if neglected, can affect fruit development, tree growth and ultimately your success.
Peaches are hardy to U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 5 through 8, and
identifying the cause of the mold, which might be a fungal disease or insect infestation, should be your
first step to eliminating the problem. (See References 1)
Brown Rot
If your peaches have small, round, powdery tan spots that gradually seem to spread and get larger, and
eventually, turn black, you might be dealing with brown rot. This common stone fruit disease, which
starts at bloom and often affects fruit that s stuck together in clusters, is triggered by the fungus
Monilinia fructicola. This fungus overwinters in the yard in uncollected infected fruit and stems, and
as soon as the temperature reaches 40 degrees Fahrenheit, spores develop that are spread by wind and
rain to healthy tissue. Prevention and treatment of brown rot can include removal of infected fruit and
fungicide treatment before the infection occurs. (See References 2, 3 and 4)
Sooty Mold
When scales, aphids, and other sucking insect feed on your peaches, they secrete a sticky liquid
known as honeydew. Sooty mold, which is a name given to several species of fungi, can develop on
honeydew and is visible as a threadlike, dark layer that covers the effected plant parts including the
leaves and peaches. Although the

Brief History of the Nra
Brief History of the NRA
The National Rifle Association in its simplest form is the largest gun club in the world. The
organization was founded in 1871 by former Union Army officers to encourage sport shooting in order
to have a fine tuned militia in case of emergency. The Union officers believed that a well regulated
militia was integral for the security of a free state. It is an organization that opposes gun control, it
believes in the individual defense of the uses of firearms, and it is interested in all aspects of shooting
sports.1 Today, the organization stands with approximately 3.4 million members.
Within the NRA, there are four major organs. The Institute for Legislative

Eighteen states and the District of Columbia were exempt from the 5 day wait since they already had
gun delaying measures in place.
These states and D.C. account for 63% of all violent crimes; including 58% of all murders.9 California
which is exempt because it has a 15 day waiting period, has more murders and violent crimes than any
other state. New York which is also exempt due to a licensing law has the second greatest number of
murders and other violent crimes.10 Since the bill was enacted, only 22 states are subject to the 5 day
wait. The Brady bill serves to be irrelevant in most violent crimes anyway. Seven out of ten violent
crimes are not committed with firearms.
90% of rapes, 59% of robberies, and 76% of assaults are committed with knives, clubs, feet, or a
person s fists. According to the FBI, approximately 10,000 murders are committed each year without
firearms.11
Gun Control is Not the Answer
With the evidence that has just been documented, gun control is not the answer to stopping crime, it
only serves to delay one s constitutional right to possess a handgun. The Brady Act infringes one s
right to own a firearm according to the Second Amendment of the Constitution. It says that a well
regulated militia, being

  • 2. Joethelberht Research Paper The eighth century monk Bede, in his Ecclesiastical History of the English People, lists Æthelberht as the third king to hold imperium over other Anglo Saxon kingdoms. In the late ninth century Anglo Saxon Chronicle Æthelberht is referred to as a bretwalda, or Britain ruler . He was the first English king to convert to Christianity. Æthelberht was the son of Eormenric, succeeding him as king, according to the Chronicle. He married Bertha, the Christian daughter of Charibert, king of the Franks, thus building an alliance with the most powerful state in contemporary Western Europe; the marriage probably took place before Æthelberht came to the throne. The influence of Bertha may have led to the decision by Pope Gregory I to send Augustine as a missionary from Rome. Augustine landed on the Isle of Thanet in east Kent in 597. Shortly thereafter, Æthelberht converted to Christianity, churches were established, and wider scale conversion to Christianity began in the kingdom. Æthelberht provided the new church with land in Canterbury, thus establishing one of the foundation stones of what ultimately became the Anglican Communion. ... Coinage probably began circulating in Kent during his reign for the first time since the Anglo Saxon invasion. • 3. Canada s Power Regime Changes From New Face And New... As Canada s power regime changes to a new face and new political party, the nation state receives a new vision. A new movement is introduced for establishing Canada s name socially, economically, and politically in its global relations. Canada has experienced this in the face of newly elected Prime Minister Sr. Justin Trudeau. Particularly inquiring of the dialogues exchanged within the conversation between Sr. Justin Treadeau and a press reporter in regards to a tax policy change that appeared to have a concealed contentious issue. The PM s progressive plans aim to be for the wellbeing of Canadian society and building the pavement for a prosperous economy. Although Trudeau s interior motives may be for the common good, for example to combat inequalities and class hierarchies between the Canadian citizens, his plan however may only be justice for some citizens and unfairness for the others. Analyzing this argument in accordance to the Rawls principles of justice as fairness, and Locke s interpretation of individual rights and liberty to identify the rudimentary flaw in this exchange and the defense will be the aim of this paper. The exchange addresses Trudeau s new policy plan, which is attempting to give a tax break to the middle class by taking away from the upper class or high income citizens, which in essence seems to be resulting in resentment. On your tax plans, you talk about bringing people together but in some ways it seems it is divisive policy...... The reporter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ethical And Ethical Issues Of Business Ethics The work of setting a positive ethical climate starts at the top of the organization as positive ethical attitudes filter down to employees. Ferrell et al. (2015) states, the more employees perceive an organization s ethical culture to be the less likely they are to make unethical decisions (p.134). Business ethics is not only about knowing what is right and wrong, or doing the right thing, ethics involves acting with responsibility, being objective when making decisions, putting honesty in all relationships, and maintaining employees fairness. According to Hughes, Ginnet, and Curpy (2012), conflict over values can arise even when an organization has clearly published values because leaders and employees have divergent perceptions of whether the leader s behavior embodies important corporate values (p.177). Unfortunately, GM s ethical organizational culture has been seriously disconnected from the policies stated in their company. In the past GM s culture has favored cover up over openness and legal contemplation over customer safety. The values embedded in GM s organization were not put into practice. Product defects were concealed from top management as well as the public, not only hurting General Motor s reputation as a quality customer driven culture, but also the owners of GM vehicles who were injured or died. A culture of secrecy seemed ingrained at General Motors, which can be blamed on former CEO leaders, the organizations structure, and organizational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Creationism and Public Schools Essay example Creationism and Public Schools The issue of whether creationism should be taught in public schools, rather than evolution, is a new one. It has only been in the past fifty years that it has even been in debate. Public school science classes, when discussing the origins of life on Earth, coincided with Sunday school classes. Students learned that the Earth, universe and everything else was created in seven days, by God, as stated in the Old Testament. It was not until recently with the rise of scientific reason and equal rights organizations did these teachings become questioned. The argument spurs from each person s personal belief, and that is where things get complicated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These principles include a basis in natural law, and science is guided by natural law. Science has to be explanatory by referencing natural law, and scientific conclusions must lack finality. When they are proven otherwise, they are open to alteration. In a science course, for something to be taught, as a science, it must follow these guide lines, yet creationism does not. Creation Scientists will not adhere themselves or their beliefs to these rules, and therefore creationism can not be taught as a science, hence the name pseudoscience. The next debate on why creationism should not be taught in schools is based on The First Amendment. The First Amendment states that the government shall make no laws endorsing or prohibiting any religious believe. Public schools are funded by the government. Requiring the Biblical teachings of creationism to be taught in school promotes the Christian religion. According to the First Amendment, a public organization that is funded by the government can not promote one religion over another. For public schools to be able to comply with the First Amendment, they would have to offer equal time to every religion s view on the creation of life on Earth, which would be impossible and once again, turn a biology class into a theology class. This idea was also approved by the US Supreme Court, in the 1987 case, Aguillard v. Edwards. In this case, it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hence, types of work and copyright protection are slightly similar to the UK copyright law. The copyright law of the United States also provides copyright protection in literary work , dramatic work and musical work . In section 102 (a)(2) stated that protection of the US copyright law cover musical work, including any accompanying words, as same as section 102(a)(7) which protect the copyright of sound recording. Another relevant topic with music copyright is performance or distributing to the public. In accordance with the US copyright law, section101 explain that to perform a work means to recite, render, play, dance, or act it, either directly or by means of any device or process or, in the case of a motion picture or other audiovisual work, to show its images in any sequence or to make the sounds accompanying it audible. • 7. The Impact Of Dutch Imperialism In Indonesia The Dutch trade of commodities influenced Indonesia s economy in the way that they introduced land tax, made trade routes, and printed money. The Dutch first implemented land tax by telling farmers to give them one fifth of what they harvested ( Colonial Period of Indonesia. ) This system was called the cultivation system. After the farmers gave one fifth of their harvest they got a fixed amount of money that has no relation to the value of the crops. The Dutch and Javanese officials received bonus when their residency delivered more crops... ( Colonial Period of Indonesia.) This made encouraged them to increase production so that they could get more money. This led to corruption ( 1820 1950 Indonesia and Decolonization Timeline Dutch History .) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Dutch provided clean water, modern medicine, and education ( Dutch Imperialism in Indonesia ). This education, however, was only for males, and females couldn t access education. The cultivation system that was previously mentioned in the previous paragraph meant that if the villagers increased production, then they would get more money. This led to the Javanese villagers trying to increase production by reproducing so that there would be more people in the family (Muhlberger). This led to overpopulation in Java. Before the Dutch didn t use the cultivation system, but instead they forced the villagers to farm for them or else they would punish them. The Dutch may have influenced Indonesia positively, but from what the author thinks he thinks that the Dutch influenced Indonesia negatively. The Dutch bringing their technologies for water, medicine and education was positive socially, but the cultivation system, and forcing the villagers to work for them was not a good thing socially. Overpopulation made it harder for people to share resources equally since there is over 1000 people every square kilometer (Java). There is a considerable social distance between the rich and the poor in Java. This is evident in Jakarta, as there could be a high class housing, then a few kilometers away there are slums. ... • 8. The Impact Of Islamic Radicalism On The Middle East One of the most pressing issues in modern geopolitics is the rise of a radical and violent terrorist sect in the Middle East. Most prominently associated with Al Qaeda during the early half of the 21st century and as of 2015 it s even more extreme splinter group The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. While many in the West are shocked by the violent motivations and anti Western philosophy of these movements the truth is that Islamic Radicalism has roots that stretch far back through the fog of history to the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the rise of European economic, social, and military might in the region. With the partitioning of the old Ottoman territories after World War I and subsequent occupation by Western European colonial powers, the historical strategy of colonization came into play; place a foreign backed minority led government into power to serve as a puppet regime acting for the benefit of the controlling foreign interest. This socially unsustainable colonial strategy placed the majority of many countries, including Egypt and Syria, into conflict with the empowered minority. Other more homogeneous countries, such as Iraq and Iran, discontent to live under the oppressive de facto rule of a foreign power, grew embittered towards their colonial patrons and puppet dictatorships and turned towards the perceived purity and social benefits of embracing political movements based in Islam and Pan Arabism. • 9. The Current Hostilities Between Yemen And Saudi Arabia Today What are the underlying factors, cultural differences, and outside intervention leading up to the current hostilities between Yemen and Saudi Arabia today? To answer some of these fundamental questions, I will use the relevant aspects of the five core ideas about the social conflict which are championed by Louis Kriesberg and Bruce Dayton s book Constructive Conflicts. Kriesberg and Dayton posit that that social conflicts are universal, and can be beneficial; social conflicts are waged with varying destructiveness; social conflicts entail contested social constructions; social conflicts can be transformed, and that social conflicts are dynamic and tend to move through stages. In order for us to be able to understand the dispute, we must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The roots of the current conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemen stems from sectarian, social political, and ideological differences which are identified as contested social constructions in the core ideas. Moreover, these social constructions are moving in stages and are vital to the accurate assessment as to what has led to the original cause of the conflict. Ideological differences tainted with sectarianism seem to be one of the driving factors for conflict. The newly unified Republic of Yemen kept its Ba athist loyalties, and it s somewhat tempered Marxist leanings in its governance. One of the presumed crucial trigger points for the ongoing conflict between Yemen and Saudi Arabia is the 1990 Gulf War. On August 2, 1990, the state of Iraq invaded the small state of Kuwait and claimed it as their 19th province. This is taken, and not without unfounded rationalization, as only a small stepping stone for Iraq to directly attack the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its expansive oil fields to the south. Saudi Arabia claimed that Iraq s actions posed a serious threat to its national security and sovereignty and asked the international community for assistance. The international community quickly responded with an immediate session of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and issued UNSC Resolution 660, which condemned the invasion and demanded the ... • 10. Analysis Of My Neighbour Totoro The adventurous, visually enchanting animated Japanese movie, My Neighbour Totoro, by Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli released in 1988 in Japan, attempts to show the viewers the innocence and the sense of community in Japan before the prevalent industrialization and economic boom. The movie is set in the countryside away from the big industrialized cities. The main characters are the schoolgirl, Satsuki Kusakabe, and her younger sister, Mei Kusakabe. Their days are brightened thanks to the spirit of the forest, Totoro. Hayao Miyazaki, who is born in 1941, is incorporating his own childhood in the film. Furthermore, he focuses on the historical time the movie is set. Meanwhile, noting that the movie is made in 1988 which is during the period of the economic bubble, he reminds us of the simple Japan in the 1950s before the economic boom occupied the people of this country. In contrast to the past, people who live in the city area do not get involved with one another s business despite how Japan has practiced chonaikai for having an intimate sense of community within the neighbourhood ever since the revival of chonaikai after World War 2. Hayao Miyazaki is able to reveal this specific ambience of the Japanese community in the movie when the Kusakabe s neighbours, a young boy, and grandmother, come to help the Kusakabe family move into their new old rotten house. It is also seen when all the neighbours nearby help Satsuki look for her lost sister. Although the neighbours do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education updated its standards back in 2011, limiting residents in their first years to work at a maximum of 16 hour shifts or 80 hour workweeks, and others to 24 hour shifts. This study focuses on a clinical trial on work hours for medical students in residency that argue that there are conflicts and dangerous for patients and practitioners. Bacon s Rebellion Analysis The elderly Berkeley had some secret scheme in mind, having governing Virginia since 1641, he wanted to maintain an alliances relationship with friendly neighboring Natives tribes and uses them as the buffers while fighting the Susquehannocks war, and in fact maintaining his fur trade monopoly. On the other side, Bacon and his followers, the discontented Virginians blamed the Natives, friendly or not, for all their problems. Theirs viewed of the Susquehannocks war as an opportunity to solve all their problems at once, for good. Not being able to convince the Governor for the commission he felt warranted, Bacon secretly fled Jamestown only to returned later with five or six hundred armed men and marched directly to where Governor and the Council were in the meeting. In the meantime, the news flock Jamestown with more raids and murder of the settlers committed by the Natives. For a contract involving an agreement to transfer title to real property, as here, to be enforceable, more than offer, acceptance and consideration must be present. The contract must also comply with the Statute of Frauds. The Statute of Frauds requires that either the contract or some memorandum of it is in writing and that writing is signed by the party to be charged. The property description does not have to be a legal description if the evidence shows that, as between the seller and buyer, there was an understanding of which property was involved. Here, there is no legal description. But, there is no evidence Orande owned any other property known as CALIacre in Las Nachos. Therefore, this note probably meets the property description test. The note refers to the parties by name. So, it provides that term. The note refers to Orande s agreement to sell and Padrina s to buy CALIacre with the attached apartment. As a result, it provides evidence of their agreement to sell and buy. The notes state the price as $1,500,000. So, it meets that requirement. When, as here, the parties fail to state the terms of payment, courts presume payment is in cash at the time of closing. Here, the note refers to a mortgage amount and Padrina s having the rest of the money in cash. Therefore, a court would likely presume they intended a cash payment to Orande at the time of closing. Augustine believes that in order to be free we must live according to our good will. • 20. Resource Leveling Issue Analysis Paper When a project manager identifies that resources must be leveled within certain areas of the project he or she should utilize resource leveling approaches. Resource leveling examines the unequal utilization of resources and makes them equally available through the project. One of the risks associated with resource leveling is the decrease in productivity as a result of resources shifting from one task or area to another. In the case of the resources in question being people, teams from where these employees will be coming from to support the other task might feel additional workloads which in turn could lead to unhappiness in team members, and can result in decreased productivity (Damci, Arditi Polat, 2013, p 679). Brain stimulation techniques such as electroconvulsive therapy, for example, can be used to treat illnesses that have not responded to standard treatments. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) has been used to treat psychiatric patients since the late 1938. The main reason for ECT treatments in North America and Europe were to treat mood disorders (bipolar depression, and unipolar depression) and schizophrenia (Pitidhammabhorn et al. 5). Before the ECT was even administered, the staff would make sure that the patient did not feel a thing during the procedure. Anesthetic drugs used routinely are thiopental, or propofol and the typical muscle relaxant is succinylcholine (Pitidhammabhorn, et al. 6). So, today s patients that receive ECT are given muscle relaxants and anesthetic so they do not feel any pain. Also, patients are given electric shocks while they are unconscious. With all of this said, the modified version of electroconvulsive therapy is completely same and is not a brutal procedure because, the patients do not endure any pain throughout the whole thing. ECT has become much safer than the dangerous past shown in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest. Electroconvulsive therapy has little resemblance to that depiction. ECT brings about fast results compared to some other medications and treatments. After the shock, there is immediate relief to the symptoms of many mental illnesses. I, like others, usually don t put much thought into questions like these and quickly reply I m an Apple user I love Apple . However, even the simplest questions of preference can have root in our identities and how we communicate to others around us. Studies show that consumers often chose brands that they feel align to their self image (Andreea Catalin, 2014). Advertising, along with other communication industries, uses the concept of identity to promote messages. I would even go as far to say that individual consumers have developed the image of themselves from what products they use a very powerful tool in advertising. Scholars have stated similar saying that identity is a code that consists of symbols (possessions), words (self description) and the meanings that you and others give to these things (Littlejohn Foss, 2011). It is important to understand how we come to define ourselves since identity effects many aspects of our life, such as what phone we will use to our overall health. Michael L. Hecht has developed a theory that explains identity, known as the communication theory of identity. • 27. A Consensus On Our Policy Analysis Framework In this paper I will be discussing how our class came to a consensus on our policy analysis framework. To understand what we are attempting to accomplish, you need to understand the denotation of policy analysis. Policy analysis is a technique used in public administration so individuals can evaluate and scrutinize policies. Policy analysis is not only limited to policy s that are already enacted, policy analysis can be used to analyze perspective policy s. There are already a handful of policy analysis frameworks available for use. These include: Chambers 2009, Gilbert and Terrell 2009, Popple and Leighninger 2004, and Dobelstein 2003. Many of the frameworks are heavily influenced by the work of Eveline Burns, who was prevalent in the 1940 s and 1950 s. While these frameworks would have been suitable to use for our analysis our class chose to create our own framework to help with analysis. In these next few paragraphs I will explain how and why we chose what we did. The first part of our policy analysis framework that we made was the goals and objectives section. We took this specific concept from Chambers framework, although many of the other frameworks also use this concept. The class came to a consensus as to what the definition would mean specifically. We all chose to measure the policy s intended impact, as well as the policy s actual impact. We also agreed on that participation in the program helps as a stepping stone for these individuals. How to Successfully Grow Peaches Although growing peaches (Prunus persica) can be a rewarding venture, they re susceptible to mold growth that, if neglected, can affect fruit development, tree growth and ultimately your success. Peaches are hardy to U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 5 through 8, and identifying the cause of the mold, which might be a fungal disease or insect infestation, should be your first step to eliminating the problem. (See References 1) Brown Rot If your peaches have small, round, powdery tan spots that gradually seem to spread and get larger, and eventually, turn black, you might be dealing with brown rot. This common stone fruit disease, which starts at bloom and often affects fruit that s stuck together in clusters, is triggered by the fungus Monilinia fructicola. This fungus overwinters in the yard in uncollected infected fruit and stems, and as soon as the temperature reaches 40 degrees Fahrenheit, spores develop that are spread by wind and rain to healthy tissue. Prevention and treatment of brown rot can include removal of infected fruit and fungicide treatment before the infection occurs.
