It means says when a customer consistently rebus your product in the future unrespectable
situational influences it shows customer loyalty. Customer loyalty plays a vital role in organization
to achieving its profitability. Organizations should give preference to customer s feelings and their
needs should be the main concern in order to achieve customer loyalty (Akhter et al., 2011)
Most companies struggle for customer loyalty as the competition reaches at its peak in
telecommunication sector. Indeed, customer satisfaction is integral part in determining why
customers leave or stay with an organization. Therefore, organizations need to know how to keep
their customers. Every organization has come to realize that in order to survive, it has to acquire
and then retain profitable customers. Company should consider those customers which shows high
satisfaction which leads to customer loyalty .this result in increasing company s profitability.
Company should also focus on customers who are not satisfied in order to increase profitability.
Importance /significance

Three Colonial Groups In Colonial America
Beginning in 1625, the United Kingdom of Britain and the United Kingdom of Scotland started
their colonial dominance of the Americas in Massachusetts Bay. The two countries later joined to
form Great Britain. The colonies spread to other parts of America, including Georgia, Virginia and
Maryland. The French, on the other hand, colonized North America as the Spanish occupied
colonies in the south and, thus, all three colonial groups were in constant struggle to oust each other
and occupy greater territory in the Americas.
Equality was only a dream in America in from 1700 through 1750. Native Americans and
immigrants affiliated to each of the three colonial groups were subjected to slavery. Louisiana, for
example, was a French colony where about

William 18th Century Edinburgh s Court Of Session
Lord Monboddo, one of the most respected, eminent Judges at 18th century Edinburgh s Court of
Session, was definitely an oddball, passionately devoted to the ways of the Ancient Greeks and
disapproving of anything he considered modern. As a result he lived simply, because if the Ancient
Greeks didn t use it, neither did he
Brilliant lawyer, philosopher, leading figure in the Scottish Enlightenment and a striking, complex,
flamboyant character to boot. Not bad for a laddie who started his education at Laurencekirk
primary school.
Born James Burnett in October 1714 to a minor laird in Monboddo, Kincardineshire, an estate
described by James Boswell during his travels with Dr Johnson as a wretched place, wild and naked

When the case was finally to be decided before the bench, the new Lord gave a blisteringly
powerful closing argument when it looked to all that the case was lost. They should have known
better. Monboddo s five hour speech turned the tide for Douglas as well as gaining for his Lordship
a brilliant legal reputation.
His personal life was not without its personal tragedy though. He married beautiful, accomplished
Grace Farquharson. They had a son and two daughters but sadly, Grace died giving birth to child
number three. Arthur, his son, also died in childhood.
As he grew older he indulged his passion for writing and in 1773, published a massive tome, Of the
Origin and Progress of Man and Language , a study of evolution predating Darwinian theory.
Remarking on the humanoid features of the orang utang, then a little known primate, Monboddo
daringly suggested that the ape might be related to humans. Anticipating Charles Darwin by
generations, this offhand observation made him a laughing stock. Unsurprisingly this and other
offbeat ideas afforded endless matter for jest by the wags of the day although nowadays they are
understood to be related to the theory of evolution. In Boswell: Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides,
Samuel Johnson says, We talked of the Ouran Outan and of Lord Monboddo s thinking that he
might be taught to speak. Dr. Johnson treated this with ridicule and said, ..... it is as possible that
the Ouran Outang does not speak, as that

The Soviet Union s Nuclear Arms Race
Within four years of the United States bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Soviet Union
successfully tested its first nuclear weapon. Ultimately, this test would begin the arms race between
the US and the USSR, which would come to be one of the largest sources of political tension
between the two countries throughout the Cold War. While lack of information and historical bias
from an American point of view suggests that the USSR created its nuclear industry solely to beat
the west, further analysis shows that the Soviet Union had wide ranging purposes for the creation
of its nuclear industry. Therefore, while the United Statessuccesses in nuclear technology may have

The investment in alternate energy that the USSR made, especially for a highly industrial country
whose economic development largely relied on the production of fossil fuels, is unparalleled. The
Soviet Union had two main, long term incentives for investing in nuclear energy: One, 80% of the
countries fossil resources were located in the eastern half of the country while 75% of the
population lived in the western half, and two, nuclear power is less damaging to the local
environments than conventional fossil power. Interestingly, the USSR actually led the world in the
use of nuclear power to generate electricity, creating the world s first nuclear power plant at
Obninsk on June 27th, 1954. The success and speed of the Soviet Union s reactor production shows
both advantages and disadvantages of the country s political system, as the country was able to
allocate all resources to the research of various power generation methods without the limits of
waiting for individual company investment; however, this often incurred high costs both with safety
standards and economically. However, by 1985, the countries investments in nuclear energy
production appeared to have paid off, with nuclear energy

The Process Of Amending The Us Constitution
1.The process of amending the US Constitution is an intentionally difficult one. Yet those in each
branch of government have found ways in which the Constitution can be changed informally.
Describe the methods, both formal and informal, of constitutional change. Article V of the
Constitution was formed through a compromise that stated that congress or a convention of states
has amendment power. This is known as the formal process, in which two steps are utilized:
proposal and ratification. Any member of the House of Representatives or the Senate can propose
to amend the Constitution. If it is approved by two thirds of the originating house of congress,
whether is it the Senate or the House of Representatives, it is then sent to the other side for a vote.
If it again receives a two thirds vote it will be sent to the states for ratification. The convention of
states also has the ability to amend the Constitution, however this is very unlikely. To force
congress to hold a convention two thirds of the state legislatures would have to apply for such a
convention. Although many applications have been sent, never in history has a convention like this
been held. On the off chance that either happens, the proposed amendment will be required to have
a three fourths vote of the state to become part of the Constitution. Since this formal procedure is
extremely difficult to complete, the amendments delivered have an extensive impact. For example
the first 10 amendments, known as the

Gender, Gender And Gender Bias
Language and gender has become an increasingly popular topic of study over recent decades,
most likely due to the second wave of feminism in the 1960s and 70s. This can also be seen in the
fact that goals of linguistic studies shifted at this point, to not just look at grammatical differences
between males and females but to examine sexism and genderbias in language. The wording of
such studies becomes increasingly important in the modern era, as gender is now recognised as a
socially constructed concept of masculine and feminine features, based on biological sex but not
limited to that. Simone de Beauvoir (1952) believed that we gradually become more masculine or
feminine but we are not inherently gendered.
Language and gender was not developed as a serious subfield until the 1975 publication of Robin
Lakoff s Language and Woman s Place. Lakoff argued that women use particular language
features in order to deny themselves means of strong expression, which are stereotypically
reserved for males. These features include shows of uncertainty, such as hedging and indirect
requests. Indirect requests include making a statement in hope that it will elicit the desired
response from someone else without openly asking. Women s speech seems... to contain more
instances of well , y know ... words that convey the sense that the speaker is uncertain about what
[she] is saying (Lakoff, 1975:53). Dale Spender (1980) talks about gender power relations, but
disagrees with Lakoff as she

Residual Online Income and HubPages Essay
Residual Online Income and HubPages HubPages is a residual online income site that lets you
earn money from your writing. You do so by creating hubs (articles), which are just pages full of
written content, photos, videos, polls, quizzes and last but certainly not least advertising. When
you sign up and become a Hubber, as the members of HubPages are affectionately called, you are
allowed to start publishing hubs. The way you earn residual online income is by sharing a portion
of the ad revenue generated by these hubs. HubPages does not pay its members directly, however;
you receive payments by means of third party advertisers. And here s where its residual online
income program gets a little confusing. You must monetize... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

revenue. If someone clicks an ad during HubPages 40%, the site keeps 100% of the revenue and
you get zip. Perplexing. I don t know about you, but I would prefer a share of every ad click
rather than be subjected to this convoluted 60/40 system. It seems like Hubbers would need to
monitor their affiliate accounts very closely and perform due diligence. It s not that I don t trust
HubPages for residual online income, but I m no babe in the woods, either. It wouldn t surprise
me if HubPages were tilting the 40% in its favor during peak traffic times, etc. Rest assured that
I will scrutinize HubPages and its impression splits on my own accounts. When it comes to
residual online income, I confess to having a bit of a negative attitude toward HubPages. Yet I
knew from the beginning that I didn t understand why. Perhaps it was hearing the sob story about
my friend making zero money on her hubs, of which there are only four. Maybe it was reading
somewhere that HubPages recently got a Google smackdown and then noticing that the site
registered a lower PR (Google PageRank) than before. Or possibly it was the daunting, unfamiliar
territory of impression splitting and affiliate links: the comparatively byzantine approach to
generating money that the site doesn t directly pay. Whatever the reason, I must admit I never gave
HubPages a fighting chance. Recently, I ve done a bit

The Truth: The Reality of Alcohol s Effect on America
The term alcohol is such a casual term in America. Few people think twice about it. We Americans
think we know everything about it, but do we really? The truth is, alcohol is in fact a drug. It is not
one to take lightly either. Whenever an American sees a couple of guys drinking beers at a bar
or a couple in love having a glass of wine, those people are really just doing drugs and trying to
get a high. But few people see it like that; how it truthfully is. Alcohol has a lot of the same
characteristics and attributes as many illegal drugs that people consider so dire. Alcohol kills
people, ruins relationships, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because alcohol is legal and so pervasive, it plays a major role in the world of crime. According
to a recent article, Alcohol is a factor in 40 percent of all violent crimes today. According to the
Department of Justice, 37 percent of almost two million convicted offenders currently in jail, report
that they were drinking at the time of their arrest. (National Council on Alcoholism and Drug
Dependence) Sadly, alcohol is most frequently correlated with offenses of murder, rape, assault,
and child and spousal abuse. Aside from crime, alcohol takes a heavy toll on the American
economy. It is estimated that the cost of excessive alcohol consumption in the United States
totaled about $223.5 billion in 2006 (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). This equates to
about $1.90 per drink; meaning that for every drink bought, it is costing taxpayers about $1.90.
Further research indicates that in these $223.5 billion represent loss in workplace productivity,
health care expenses, criminal justice expenses, and motor vehicle crashes. It is now apparent that
the effects of alcohol not only impacts those who are directly affected by crime or physical
complications by the drug, but it strikes every single American in their bank

Minnesota Micromotors Competitive Marketing Strategy Essay
Minnesota Micromotors Competitive Marketing Strategy
Elibah Bey
Kaplan University
The purpose of this paper is to use Harvard Business Managing Segments Customers marketing
simulation for Minnesota Micromotors, Inc. (MM), and develop a business to business marketing
B to B (business to business) competitive marketing strategy by analyzing target markets and
generic competitors. This exercise requires the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of
Minnesota Micromotors, Inc. , to develop a competitive marketing strategy for the company by
making operational decisions based on using game theory to understand the interdependence
between the firm and its competitors (Winer Dhar, 2011, p. 151). In addition, this paper will
analyze the results based upon the marketing strategy decisions, which determines success or failure
for a particular quarter. Moreover, this paper will also provide the Standard Industrial Classification
(SIC code) for Minnesota Micromotors, Inc. (MM), and identify the limitations of the game theory
approach to understanding competitive strategy.
2013 Quarter 1 Marketing Strategy The marketing strategy for quarter 1 of 2013 is the
development of a competitive strategy which rests heavily on the notions of a game theory
approach (Winer Dhar, 2011, p. 151). Game theory is a mathematical approach of structuring likely
competitor moves, anticipating them, and developing preemptive moves (Winer Dhar, 2011, p.

Experimental Study About Rc Based Rfid Tracking System For...
Simulation enables researchers to construct models to understand and evaluate current systems and
alternatives for applying new processes or improving current processes in various areas (Greasley,
2004; Ingalls, 2008; Iqbal et al., 2012). The simulation method has been adopted in various
industries such as airline, port operation, banking, service, food and transportation (Robinson, 2004;
Kotachi et al., 2013). Although simulationraises quality concerns and does not provide absolute
answers, simulation is flexible to design simple and complex processes (Chung, 2003; Kotachi et
al., 2013). Researchers used different approaches to simulate returnable container (RC) models
such as agent approach, regression approach and discrete event simulation approach. Apparwal
(2014) used agent based system approach to study about RC based RFID tracking system for
logistic services provider. Kim et al. (2014) used regression simulation model to study about RC for
perishable products under stochastic return times.

This experimental study aims to execute model which displays RC system of a company in

Basketball Descriptive Speech
Tweet! the ref blew the whistle and the game started and we won the jump ball. The ball was
tipped up to me and I dribbled the ball up the court and I called a play. We were playing our
rivals, Chatham, who beat our team last year. This year is the year we are going to redeem
ourselves! It was Christmas Eve and this win would be the perfect early Christmas present.
X! , I shouted. This play was supposed to get the ball to me to shoot a three pointer in the corner.
We ran the play to perfection. I caught the ball, jumped up and shot it. I watched the ball as it
sunk through the hoop as I landed back down on the hardwood floor. I ran back on defense
guarding their best player. He called for a screen and drove to the hoop for an easy layup. The game
went back and forth like this for the entire time until they got the lead. Next time down the court it
was our ball. I fired the basketball like a gun at my teammate, pass the defense, who caught the ball
and threw up a bad shot. My coach called a timeout and scolded him and put him on the bench.
Johnny! We need to get the ball inside the paint to Nate! my coached belted with a look of worry
on his face.
Yes, coach! But what if it isn t executed correctly? I replied.
It will work if you guys focus and do what we practiced. he responded. I took his advice on it and
the next time our team was on offense I called the play and we successfully got the ball inside to
Nate (our center). He caught the ball and dribbled toward the hoop determined to lay the ball in the
basket. As he jumped off the ground he was tackled by the opposing center.
Tweeeet, he blared his whistle. Nate fell to the ground clutching his knee from the impact. Some
of my teammates and I hustled over to help him up but he couldn t get up. After a couple of
minutes of downtime, and trying to get Nate off the ground, we finally started up again. Nate
was a big part of the team. He led the team in blocks and rebounds. The game carried on until the
4th quarter. We were barely hanging on. There were 10 seconds left in the game and we were
down two points. I trotted up the court dribbling the ball in my left hand. As I passed half court I
looked at the clock and noticed there were only seven seconds

Gatsby Women
The simple life of the Gatsby women I m p paralyzed with happiness is just one of the
stereotypes of a woman in the 1920 s. In Scott F. Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, there is an often
ignored view of the women s perspective. It brings attention to how women have no
expectations to go far in life, or have a reason for life besides, to reproduce. The absurd thing is
that the women don t have any interest to break out of the stereotype, and try to make a life for
themselves. Throughout the story, Daisy Buchanan, Jordan Baker, and Myrtle Wilson are treated
as possessions rather than humans. The female character first mentioned is Daisy, a perfect
example of a woman in the 1920 s. She is married to Tom, and has a daughter Pammy, who doesn t
have a job, and is very flirtatious. In The Great Gatsby, Daisy has always been in the upper class
so to speak, so she doesn t know what it is like to not get her way, and has never settled for
anything less. When she sees Gatsby s shirts, Daisy says They re such beautiful shirts, she
sobbed, her voice muffled in the thick folds. It makes me sad because I ve never seen such such
beautiful shirts before. (Fitzgerald,118). What is meant by Daisy crying over the shirts, is that it
shows that she has finally found a lifestyle that is greater than her current one. It makes her sad
when she sees the shirts because she knows that it s a lifestyle that she has always wanted, but has
never had the chance to have until this point, so she is upset, because she knows that she would be
risking everything if she chose this life. It also shows, that women can be overdramatic in situations
that should have little to no effect on a male.
In addition, Daisy also believes it is better to be dumb than to be knowledgeable as a woman.
Growing up Daisy had come from a wealthy family, and has never known poverty. She says in
chapter 5 All right, I said, I m glad it s a girl. And I hope she ll be a fool that s the best thing a
girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool. (118). She hopes this is for her daughter because
she believes if you don t confront the issue, everything will be the same, and nothing will change.

Compulsory Voter Turnout In The United States
Voter turnouts in the U.S. are spectacularly low compared to most other democracies. Turnout has
not reached over 70% in the last century while other developing nations and quite a few third
world nations have registered higher turnouts. During the 2016 presidential election, only about
55.7% of the population cast their votes according to newly released Census Bureau figures. The
U.S. trails far below compared to the other developed nations hovering over 80% which were,
Belgium (87.2%), Sweden (82.6%) and Denmark (80.3%). How could this be? Is the U.S. political
system built in a way where many people believe that their votes don t matter or should compulsory
votingbe enforced? There are many factors that go into the results of voter turnouts in the U.S....

The U.S. uses a system called the electoral college to elect the president and each state has a
number of electors equal to the number of representatives they have in Congress. After the polls
close on election day, these electors decide who they are going to cast their votes for based on
the popular votes in that state. Most states will cast all of their electoral votes for only one
candidate but some will allow their electors to split their votes. Casting out one candidate is
unfair as it wipes out the votes of almost half of that state because one candidate did a little better.
Popular vote does not equal presidency because the choices are made by electoral colleges and not
the American people. For this reason, people have come to believe that, whether they vote or not, it

Are People Inherently Good Or Evil
The concept of whether or not humans are inherently good or evil is as complex and just as
regularly debated by philosophers as to whether or not there is an afterlife. Now if we
temporarily ignore the grey scale that is moral and immoral and the fluctuations it may have based
on individual morals and instead use a generalisation of what is good and bad, (this consisting of
the obvious murder, rape etc) we can freely debate if human nature is inherently good or evil. There
are some philosophers like Clancy Martin who argue that people are mostly good but there are
also others like Alan Strudler who are more pessimistic and comeback with The idea that people

This compelling piece of literature explores the idea of two worlds; the world of light and the
world of darkness. The world of light is described by Sinclair as The parental home...its name
was Mother and father, it was love and strictness, education and example. What belonged to this
world was gently shining radiance, clarity, and cleanliness; quiet friendly conversation; washed
hands, clean clothes, good behaviour. (Hesse 1919, p.3) To be direct this parental world
consisted of his home and the church; all that was seen as good, pure and moral. While the other
world was the opposite and everything outside the home on the streets and the public schools.
Sinclair firsts extends his hand to the other world when he lies about stealing apples in order to
impress a young boy named Kromer which causes Sinclair to torment himself and thus allows
Kromer to do the same when he blackmails him. This is where Sinclair meets his first mentor,
Max Demian. This mentor taught Sinclair many wonders and causes him to go into a bout of self
discovery. After years of switching between the two worlds, he discovers a godnamed Abraxas.
Damian had once discussed with Sinclair the God Jehovah and how everything that is pure and
sacred is given to him while everything that is sinful is seen as the devils. He explains that he
believes both worlds should be worshipped as a whole and you must either find a god that is
both the Father and the devil or have two gods. This is why the god Abraxas intrigues Sinclair to
such a degree as he is the god that reigns over both heavenly and demonic; the combination of the
two worlds. This ancient Greek and Egyptian deity shows Sinclair and the reader that a person
should not be so concerned and concentrated on immoral

Most Kenyans are heavy tea and coffee drinkers and do not consider a meal to be complete without
chai.
Nigerians generally have a wider variety of food than Kenyans, partly due to the Nigerian tropical
climate and vegetation that offers a larger variation of foods in comparison to the mostly dry and
unfertile land of Kenya. The common items on the Nigerian menu range from various finger foods
to more filling items. The finger foods include chin chin, crunchy little donuts cut into tiny
squares about one centimeter long and one centimeter wide, kose, little fried bean cakes with
onions and red peppers, suya, kabobs that are generously seasoned with cayenne pepper and
staked on sticks between slices of tomatoes, and fried sweet plantains lightly sprinkled with salt.
The more filling foods include pounded yams and egusi soup. Yams, the staple crop in Nigeria,
are like gigantic potatoes often the length of a grown man s arm. The yams are boiled and then
pounded in a mortar to create a dish dissimilar in taste but similar in looks to mashed potatoes.
Egusi soup is prepared from a melon seed that is ground into a powder and then combined with
palm oil, crayfish, fresh fish, stock fish, spinach leaves, and either chicken or beef. A choice of
pounded yam or rice is always offered. Rice in different forms will be prepared: plain white rice

Gender Imbalance Of Computer Science
Gender Imbalance in Computer Science
Introduction
In past many generations, men and women had distinct roles. In ancient times, the stereotype of a
woman was working as a housewife, taking care of children and doing housekeeping jobs, while
man were responsible for hunting or farming. As human civilization goes on, woman are no
longer restricted in household routines and have been widely accepted as an indispensable source
of labor force in a variety of occupations. However disparity of career preference between male and
female are fairly pronounced, particular in computer science. An undeniable fact is that employees
of tech companies that are typically related to computer science in Silicon Valley are
overwhelming male. 17 percent of Google tech workers are women, according to the diversity
data released by Google itself (Diversity at Google, 2014). In 2014, female tech workers make up
15 percent of Facebook s workforce (Constine, 2014). Also in 2014, Yahoo reports ratio of
female technical workers is 15 percent and Twitter reports only 10 percent of technical
workforce is female (CNNMoney, 2014). According to an evaluation published in 2014 by Anita
Borg Institute for women and technology, average ratio for female workers in bay area is
approximate 20 percent (Weise, 2014). We can trace the gender imbalance in workplace back to
the shortage of female computer science students in college. It is not a new topic that women are

A Research On European Banking Regulations And Their...
The following paper attempts to address the need for future research as mentioned in part A.
European Banks are not required to hold a capital buffer against the sovereign debt holding of
any European state, regardless of the risk involved. As a result European governments had
issued excessive debt, taking advantage of a sovereign subsidy of other EU member states in
the form of the 0 risk weight for their MFI. If such a risk finally materialises, MFI will be left
undercapitalised because they do not hold a capital buffer for their sovereign exposure. Therefore
0 risk represents a channel, through which sovereign risk can extend to any EU member state.
Thus, the focus of the paper is to develop a new measure that quantifies the banks risk... Show more

To support Korte and Steffen s empirical analysis there are Bolton and Jeanne (2011), who argue
how financial integration may lead to ex post contagion and oversupply of risky sovereign debt.
Further, Acharya et al. (2014) develop a model, which sees banks overleveraged because they
invest too much in low risk weighted instead of diversifying the risk. Korte and Steffen build on
this model to develop their hypothesis for the research paper. Korte and Steffen incorporate two
streams of literature, which are important to give evidence on how risk weight regulation impairs
financial stability in the Eurozone. The first stream focuses on both determinants and
interdependence of sovereign risk. These are Duffie et al. (2003); Bolton and Jeanne (2011);
Barth et al. (2012); Acharya, Drechsler, and Schnabl (2014). Examples are: Ang and Longstaff
(2013), evaluates the co movement of sovereign default risk. Chen (2013), finds that financial
linkages likely provide a channel for sovereign risk spillovers. Kallestrup et al (2013), evaluates
how banking sector variables, such as cross border exposure amplify the effect, that non domestic
sovereign has on domestic sovereign risk. The second stream of literature, evaluates the

Historical Anatomy And Scientific Anatomy
The history of anatomical illustration attracts the interest of both medical and art historians.
Ludwig Choulant published one of the earliest catalogues of anatomical illustrations in 1852. The
Geschichte und Bibliographie der Anatomischen Abbildung continued to attract attention as
Mortimer Frank revised and translated the catalogue in 1920 and in 1945 an expanded version was
published which remains a useful resource of early anatomical illustration. The 1852 edition
included 43 woodcuts and three chromolithographs to illustrate the entries which range from the
earliest Arabic manuscript illuminations to anatomical atlases published in Choulant s time.
Choulant understands the history of anatomic illustration to allow for an easy distinction between
artistic and scientific anatomy. Artistic anatomy according to Choulant idealises anatomical beauty
and overlooks particulars for the sake of perfection. Scientific anatomy and illustration has a
didactic purpose, while artistic anatomy is not intended to instruct anyone with the exception of
other artists. Without doubt, scientific anatomy must also generalise in order to teach anatomy,
though it would be better at displaying the functions and relative positions of organs than artistic
anatomy, where the primary concern lies in musculature. Choulant dedicates a large section of his
study not the social history of medical illustration, which is also included, but to specific examples
from artists books and medical textbooks.

Edward Taylor Huswifery
The literary period between the rise of the first English civilization in New England to the
Revolutionary period was focused on the Puritan authors of its time. Puritan lifestyle revolved
around their religion; God and the Bible were incorporated into nearly every aspect of their daily
lives. Because literature often reflects the values, culture, and history of its time period, much of the
writing during the Colonial or Puritan Era involved the Puritan religion. The Puritans relationship
with God is best reflected in the poem Huswifery by Edward Taylor. The author compares himself
to a housewife s spinning wheel, and God to the housewife. Using this extended metaphor, Taylor

If it is due to the lack of beds for the increasing amount of people coming into the Emergency
Room then I would seek to expand the Emergency Room department and add the amount of beds
that are allowed by the state and government. The staffing will have to be a top priority and
make sure that we have enough staff to cover and have the backup staff to cover people when
they are calling in sick. I would also concentrate on the admissions process of the patients and the
triage time and accuracy of these patients. Each step and specific need of the Emergency Room
patient intake and follow up may need a special worker to make sure that their stay at the
Emergency Room is fast and efficient. This would start with the first people to see you, which
is triage. The nurses must have a special room to take down the information and why the patients
are at the Emergency Room. These nurses also need to see how critical the visit is to the
Emergency Room and address them accordingly. For example if you have someone with a
broken arm you want to get their vitals and into the exam room as fast as possible. If you have a
patient who is coming in for a headache and is just seeking some medication then they would not
be as critical as the person who has a severe cut, heart attack, broken limb, etc. Then you have the

supporting it. Prescribed fire has been proven to reduce hazardous fuels, minimizes spread of
insects and disease, and recycling nutrients back into the soil furthermore helping promote the

burns is to help aid in Fire prevention and the renewal of our Forests.
Overtime without fire exclusion on an ecosystem will become unhealthy and trees will start to
become stressed by the overcrowding that is occurring this is one reason we should have
prescribed burns. The fires help in wiping out the over populated areas of trees, and also to help
wipe out high complexity level snags that certain fallers won t risk cutting down; snag is a term
for a dead tree in the forest service. As with taking out dead trees these fires help to take out and/or

Comparison Of Watson And Winslow Homer Portrayed In The...
The works of art, that John Singleton Copley portrayed in Watson and the Shark and Winslow
Homer portrayed in The Fog Warning, strike a sense of mystery and fear into the heart of the
viewer. With The Fog Warning, I wonder if the fisherman will meet his destination at the large
vessel before the looming ominous fog swallows him up. If the fisherman does not arrive at the
large vessel within the given time, he may be lost at sea forever. When I admire Watson and the
Shark, I contemplate if the blood running from the mouth of the shark (where it presumably
previously attacked Watson) and also pouring into the water (where Watson seems to have lost the
bottom portion of his leg in an attack) will be the final blood shared amongst the two. Will the
sailors save Watson from the ferociousness of the mighty beast or will he suffer a terrible fate and
perish at sea? While both compositions allow for mystery and contain a quite eerie sense of doom,
the artists portrayed these stories through painting them in quite opposite directions.... Show more

teachers must be flexible in order to modify and adjust instruction according to what students are.
Moreover, monitoring students progress can be accomplished by constant observations and

The Catcher Of The Rye, By F. D. Salinger
During the 1950 s, literature underwent a tremendous change in structure as well as philosophy.
J. D. Salinger s book The Catcher in the Rye helped contribute to this revolution by highlighting
new philosophies in literature. This is evident in pre 1950 writing as well as the changes that
persisted through the remaining part of the decade, especially in the writing style popularized
during the Great Depression. The Catcher in the Rye also contributed to a change in conflict.
This conflict started as an external object to overcome, but after the release of this book and
other, the conflict changed from external to internal and became a moral or philosophical
struggle to be thought about rather than something to overcome. Jerome David Salinger began
his life on January 1, 1919 in New York, New York. Salinger was born to Sol and Miriam
Salinger, and he was the younger of two children. Salinger s father was a rabbi who ran a
successful ham and cheese import business. Salinger mother was Scottish born and non Jewish,
but mixed marriages were looked at crudely. So Miriam decided to hide her heritage from almost
everyone and it was only after Salinger s bar mitzvah that he found out about his mother s
heritage. Salinger was shipped to Valley Forge Military Academy after flunking out of McBurney
School, even though he is intelligent. Valley Forge Academy was also some of the first exhibition

Is It Morally Permissible To Eat Meat Essay
Introduction
Is it morally permissible to eat meat? Much argument has arisen in the current society on whether it
is morally permissible to eat meat. Many virtuous fruitarians and the other meat eating societies
have been arguing about the ethics of eating meat (which results from killing animals). The
important part of the dispute is based on the animal welfare, nutrition value from meat,
convenience, and affordability of meat based foods compared to vegetable based foods and other
factors like environmental moral code, culture, and religion. All these points are important in
justifying whether humans are morally right when choosing to eat meat. This paper will argue that
it is morally impermissible to eat meat by focusing on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Like humans, animals also exhibit such reactions when killed. This evidence disputes the notion
that animals do not feel pain. It follows that no animal would be willing to terminate its life for
another animal s survival; that is, an animal will not kill itself for the benefit of another animal.
According to this argument, meat eating humans should understand that it is not morally
permissible to exterminate other animals for their survival. Additionally, some societies argue that
the pain that a human would experience is no equitable to the pain animals experience. This is a
misleading statement since all creatures experience pain when killed. Thus, meat eating is not
ethically accepted since it causes a lot of pain to animals (Singer and Mason, 2007).
Morals
It is crucial to apprehend the difference between moral agents and moral patients because this
difference is a foundation to the upcoming discussion. Moral agents have the ability to identify
what morally ought to be done hence, the ability to act or fail to act morally. In contrast, moral
patients lack the ability control their behavior (Singer and Mason, 2007). Owing to the fact that
moral agents have the capacity to make moral judgments, they should be accountable for their
actions. The community requires all animals to make ethical choices yet, animals are incapable of
making such decisions. Therefore, several people argue that

Mapping the human genome has been compared with putting a man on the moon, but I believe it is

Corruption In Culture
Why corruption is rampant in sport?
Corrupt Culture
Corruption has always existed in society and no country will get rid of it entirely. Many people
considered that political corruption is a cultural issue. Some of them also stated that gift giving is
part of our culture and often be used to quibble their corrupt acts (Larmour, 2012). However, people
should not confuse gift giving with bribery or corruption and culture should not long be the excuse
of culture. In fact, it is unreasonable to assume that political culture are inherently corrupt and
rooted in any society. Political leaders violate social and political norms do not mean that there are
no norms (Alatas, 1968). Corruption in politics is the result that political leaders rationally make
and economically calculated. In this situation, culture does not play a vital role in this decision.
Since corruption is not a cultural circumstance in politics, anti corruption programs might be
efficiently implemented. This is because the prevention will not focus on the changes of culture,
instead it could aim at the vulnerabilities of a particular moment in corruption history.
However, corruption in sport is different from political corruption that there exists a specific and
vulnerable environment for corruption. It is mentioned by Boniface (et al., 2012) that most players
are trained and live in a closed environment. Under the tremendous pressure from medical advisors
and sports management, their behavior are controlled and

He then sadly died on July 12. This is also very similar to the way his son died. Alexander
Hamilton has done many great things. If he didn t create some of the things that he did,our lives

States. Without a bank, it would be more likely for a person to get robbed. Alexander Hamilton
also made the first newspaper. Today we still use the same newspaper. This is how people still

very important in the creating of our country. He did many things to help and support us.
Alexander Hamilton helped George Washington in the Revolutionary War. If he didn t help, we

U.s. Foreign Tax Credit
The income earned by the U.S. individuals and corporations in the foreign countries or foreign
source are taxed by the U.S. government, even though other countries also tax any income earned
within their borders. To offset this double taxation of income by two different countries, the U.S.
grants both individuals and corporations a foreign taxcredit (FTC) that can be used to offset
income taxes assessed by a foreign country on the income earned there (Foreign Tax Credit, FTC,
n.d.). The FTC is allowable for foreign income taxes and other similar taxes, such as excess profit
and war profit taxes. However, only income taxes qualify for the credit. The Value Added Taxes
(VAT) and property, sales and severance taxes do not qualify, although they may be deductible.
Eligible FTC Income
The foreign tax credit can only reduce U.S. taxes on foreign source income; it cannot reduce U.S.
taxes on U.S. source income. It is generally better to take a credit for qualified foreign taxes than
to deduct them as an itemized deduction because credit reduces the tax liability dollar for dollar.
(Foreign Tax Credit Choosing To Take Credit or Deduction, n.d. ).
Claiming a deduction may be preferable to claiming the foreign tax credit if the foreign tax rate
and the proportion of foreign income to United States income is high. The tax should be computed
both ways to determine the larger benefit. Unless the de minimis exception applies, the FTC is
calculated on Form 1116. Corporations must file

Jersey Devil Myths
Over the past 275 years, over 2,000 witnesses have reported seeing the Jersey Devil according to
Nat Geo Wild. The myth originates from the eighteenth century in a forest called the Pine
Barrens which is located in New Jersey. The creature goes by many names such as Hoodle
Doodle Bird , Wozzle Bug and the Leeds Devil . The myth says a mother who was a witch was
having her thirteenth child. Thirteen is usually known as a unlucky number , and a witch is
someone with the ability to wield magic powers that are used for evil. She cursed the child and
cried out oh, let this one be a devil! . Many say this is what caused the child to become what it
became. When it was born it mutated into a what today is called the Jersey devil. It had a
kangaroo like body, batlike wings, and the head of a goat. It looked like something straight out of
hell. Frightened residents decided to have a local minister to exorcise the Jersey Devil in 1740. It
sounds like a scene straight out of a horror film. Since 1909, the Jersey Devil has continued to be
sighted by people all over New Jersey. There were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Legend has it that naval hero Commodore Stephen Decatur visited the Hanover Iron Works in
the Barrens in 1800 to test the plant s cannonballs. One day on the firing range, he saw a creature
flying above. Taking aim, he fired at the monster and while some say that his shot struck it, the
Devil continued on its path. The second sighting took place a few years later and this time the
Devil was seen by another respected witness. Joseph Bonaparte, the former king of Spain and the
brother of Napoleon, leased a country house near Bordertown from 1816 to 1839. He reported
seeing the Jersey Devil while hunting game one day in the Pine

The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), came into effect on January 1, 1994,
creating the largest free trade region in the world, generating economic growth and helping to
raise the standard of living for the people of all three countries participating. By strengthening
the rules and procedures governing trade and investment, the NAFTA has shown to be a great
base for adding to Canada s prosperity and has set a valuable example of the benefits of trade
liberalization for the rest of the world. NAFTA was designed with many economic results in
mind. Hopes were that not only trade would be easier, cheaper, and easier for all countries
involved, but economic wealth and growth would follow. The support for NAFTA was spilt among

That created a lot of pay cheques in Canada. (Marville)
Trade of commodities is not the only thing that has grown in response to NAFTA as Canada also
has benefited from an increase of trade in services. In Canada, NAFTA has helped to increase the
imports of goods over the past decade in these fields: machinery and equipment, communications
equipment, and automotive equipment. This has caused Canada s automotive industry to have a
noticeable rise, allowing the economy to increase positively. Exports of goods from Canada have
also grown significantly. Example being, in 1998, the increase in Canada s exports to the NAFTA
regions was approximately equivalent to the entire value of our exports to Japan and to the 15
nations of the European Union combined. These simple statistics can easily show how the North
American Free Trade Agreement has impacted the imports and exports to Canada positively. (Rolf
Mirus) Canada has benefited directly from NAFTA as every one in five jobs are in linked to
international trade. (GlobeRover) With the savings from tax and tariff extermination between the
three NAFTA regions, Canada is able to spend money on hiring more workers with more workers,
Canada receives more income and with more income, Canada receives more profit which in turn
leads to a better and stronger economy. Canada has added 4.7 million new jobs since 1993.

Reann And Barbie Song Analysis
1) Opening Credits You Can Tell She s a Princess by Reann
This upbeat melody takes me directly back to my childhood and all throughout high school. I am
a child at heart. Barbie movies have followed me from when I was first introduced to them in
Kindergarten all the way until my senior year of high school. This song in particular is my favorite
Barbie song because it comes from my favorite movie Barbie and the Princess Charm School. The
reason I chose this as my opening credits is because it exemplifies how every girl is a princess in
her own way. Which alone is a powerful message of its own, as well as sentimental value of
youthfulness. Barbie represents all girls and she is a positive role model for all. I always admired

of my hands. The line she s falling but she doesn t think he ll catch her is immensely emotion
evoking. When in a state of breaking down mentally, it feels as if no one is there to save or catch
you. It is also extremely difficult to break free from an emotional breakdown. High school has
definitely called for situations that I felt the pressure and broke from it. The slow paced melody
is created a trance like state that forced me to become aware that a mental breakdown is occuring.
While this song does not necessarily help me through a mental break down, it does strengthen my

The Cafe Window
In the early evening back at home Consuelo was still pacing in front of the cafГ© window.
Concerned for the safety of her only son, who had departed this morning wearing his sleepwear
and robe. Her jaw fell open when on the sidewalk before her appeared Stella and Sol, with much
audacity. Carrying up the path garment bags from a high end department store. Behind them was
Dr. Edwards who had just pulled in after his long shift at work. He walked towards Stella who
was standing in front of the door. He greeted her with a big, juicy, wet, kiss, then they all just
walked right in.
Consuelo, who was still owning her tantrum, was offended by their smiles and casual stances. Not
wanting to believe what she was seeing when she questioned, Are those really garment bags you
carrying? Calm and collect Sol put on her sarcastic tone and lifted her head and retorted You saw
the wedding invitation. My daughter gets married next Saturday. We will dress impeccably well
for the fiasco. Consuelo who was speechless regained her composure for a moment, I understand
that she became a loon, but did I miss something with you two? My son is going to be crushed,
while you are going to look your finest for the biggest mistake your daughter is going to make in
her life? I just don t understand.
Sol replied proud, You always put on a good face during bad weather, don t you go out in the rain
with makeup? Consuelo was so appalled she could only muster, You mean you are not going to
stop her?

Differences Of God s Desires In Genesis And The Book Of...
In the Book of Genesis and the Book of Jonah, God reveals His desires for His people and
expects obedience. These desires involve fulfilling His plan which includes, living in community,
behaving peacefully, obeying and respecting Him, and repenting of sins. God makes His desires
known, and in turn, His people obey and disobey these desires. More specifically, examples of this
arise in the stories pertaining to Adam and Eve, Noah, Cain and Abel, and Jonahand the people of
Nineveh. Noah as well as Jonah and the people of Nineveh show numerous examples of acting
on God s plans and desires in a positive way, while the other examples contrast this and provide
instances where God s desires are not followed. Although there are those who choose not to follow
His desires, the instances where His desires are followed hold the utmost focus and importance
because they represent God s plan coming to fruition through His creation. Beginning with the
Book of Genesis, as God has completed His creation, He explains what He desires for the people
that will reside on it and how he wants them to fulfill His creation. He explains, Let us make
humankind in our image, according to our likeness (Gen. 1:26). These words from God present
the idea that He wants to be one with His people and that He wants them to be alike to Him.
However, His people will go on to show that while they are created in His image and likeness, they
exhibit flaws and behaviors that are not associated with God. Another

Pros And Disadvantages Of Globalization And Globalization
Long gone the days in which we find products that are locally made. Many of the items we own
have been across seas. Our country has become much more of an importing company than an
exporting one. We consume so many of the goods that countries overseas provide. As a country
facing controversy on economic growth it is important to get back to the concept of
manufacturing our own goods. Our world now is to globalize everything, especially if it
increases our profits and lower our production costs. Introduction to Globalization and
Manufacturing Globalization refers to act on trade across other nations. It basically is
connecting with other markets to provide the goods. It is to make one s own economic growth
and make it global. It takes one business from being locally known to being a worldwide item.
Globalization has taken its shift to less developed countries. It has been given less developed
countries the chance to be part of the global market. The less developed countries in return
provide their services in production at a very low price. Every concept has a goal. In the case of
globalization it is primarily meant to take businesses a higher advantage of cutting their operating
costs and making more profit. Companies find alternative places that will provide the resources
needed to provide the final product. Globalization seems like a sweet deal to many businesses that
are trying to take their product worldwide. Many of the people that seem to be affected by this

Pornography, Erotica, and Nude Art – There Is a Difference...
Pornography is a subject that has always been argued and stirs up controversy almost anywhere it
may arise. There are people who are against it, and would like to ban all pornography for the
benefit of everyone, while there are those who defend it, claiming it is part of their guaranteed free
speech, to express themselves in a manner of their choosing. With the issue of pornographybeing
debated and spoken of, one major mistake people make is that they look at pornography according
to their own views. Different types of people look at pornography differently, and therefore create
their own definition of pornography in their minds. Usually, pornography tends to be mistaken with
nude art and erotica, so some people consider erotic as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So the students were then allowed to look at the subject s breasts and ponder the importance of
nude art as they made replicas of the woman in a graceful, artistic, position. The students
probably submitted a signed note from their parents to be involved in the sculpture session,
because I do not know of any public school that would allow its students to take part in this type
of class during school hours, on school grounds. The woman s nudity is considered as art
because she is posing for an art class, which was allowed by a public school, although I highly do
not think that it would actually happen. Nude art s purpose is to portray the human body as an art
form, and not an object of sexuality or arousal.
Both pornography and erotica have the main purpose to sexually stimulate people, but
pornography does not show the emotional connection between the individuals involved in the
sexual acts, while erotica does. Erotica is just like nude art, except that erotica possesses no
artistic value, and art does contain an artistic value that is accepted by everyone. There is a form
of art called erotic art that I guess is a mixture of erotica and nude art. But if guidelines were to be
set by the government, art forms that could be on the borderline of erotic art could be easier to
distinguish. Pornography is not classified as nude art at all, and nude art is not pornography.
Pornography just has the sole

Pros And Cons Of Sex Offender Registry
Even with threats at our nation s borders and innovation becoming stagnant in our race to be the
best, one of the most feared crimes committed in the United States is sexual abuse. The 2005
Gallup poll concluded that 36 percent of the polling group revealed their concerns about terrorism
in the United States. This percentage of people pales in comparison to the 66 percent, who were
very concerned about sexual offenders (Yoder). As far back as the late 1940 s, states such as
California have implemented sex offenderregistries. Agan describes the laws that required sex
offenders to provide their place of residence and to have annual checkups (Worley and Worley
335). Later in the 1990 s, these laws were revised, the most famous law being Megan s... Show

However, it was determined that in 2006, California s website for its sex offender registry was
visited over 180 million times (Wagner 266). Furthermore, the 2006 California Statistical
Abstract, the total population of California was approximately 37,444,000 (10). With this fact
present, statistically each registered resident of California would had to have searched for the
website about 5 times independently. These statistics seem to support that the people use these
websites for purposes they were not made for. An example of misuse of the sex offender registry
was in the case of a sex offender named Jeff (not his real name) who was assaulted by his former
friend who found him on the registry. Jeff s friend decided to bring two bikers to come and
abuse Jeff (Yoder). This specific incident is not isolated, but is widespread. A recent study found
that the overwhelming majority of respondents [sex offenders] reported that they had experience
significant levels of harassment as a result of having to publicly register as sex offenders
(Worley and Worley 342). The public registry allows for the sexual offender to be ridiculed and
assaulted even after their determined sentenced time for their misconduct is over. An even more
surprising study done by Caputo, Caputo and Brodsky, Zevitz et al., and Zevitz claimed that
notification [in the way of sex offender information online] can increase anxiety [to the public]
(Levenson et al. 589). The public registry is now failing at what it was made to do, make the
public have a sense of security. Instead, this security theater tactic has backfired for the
government, making people feel more uneasy. An even more revealing study showed that out of
232 sex offenders, 9% did not live at the address that the online database had presented (Worley
and Worley 337). These laws that sacrifice one s safety

Authority Is A Fundamental Part Of Life Essay
Authority is a fundamental part of life. It is utilized in both micro and macro ways, such as it
being used in a particular group of individuals or a mass society. In order for society to function,
some aspect of authority is required. Police officers use authority to maintain order and obedience
throughout communities. Parents possess characteristics of authority in order to teach children
right from wrong. As well as, teachers are considered authority figures since they need to control
and maintain obediencein the classroom.
Authority cannot exist without obedience. Society is developed on this notion. Without authority,
and its required obedience, disorder and disruption would occur. But how much obedience to
authority is necessary? When is it too much or too little? Authority figures hold such power, that it
quite often becomes abused. We can relate back to these questions by looking into the novel,
Crimes of Power and States of Impunity , and connecting it with the element of the chain of
command. Often, higher authority individuals abuse their powers, just like those involved in the
scandal at Abu Ghraib. The American Soldiers were ambiguously declaring to torture, punish,
interrogate, and harm the inmates prior to interrogation. Yet, these soldiers were following the
commands of their higher authorities, that exactly being the United States of America. Obeying the
authority can sometimes be perilous, especially, when one s morals are disrupted. When you are

Three Colonial Groups In Colonial America Beginning in 1625, the United Kingdom of Britain and the United Kingdom of Scotland started their colonial dominance of the Americas in Massachusetts Bay. The two countries later joined to form Great Britain. The colonies spread to other parts of America, including Georgia, Virginia and Maryland. The French, on the other hand, colonized North America as the Spanish occupied colonies in the south and, thus, all three colonial groups were in constant struggle to oust each other and occupy greater territory in the Americas. Equality was only a dream in America in from 1700 through 1750. Native Americans and immigrants affiliated to each of the three colonial groups were subjected to slavery. • 5. William 18th Century Edinburgh s Court Of Session Lord Monboddo, one of the most respected, eminent Judges at 18th century Edinburgh s Court of Session, was definitely an oddball, passionately devoted to the ways of the Ancient Greeks and disapproving of anything he considered modern. As a result he lived simply, because if the Ancient Greeks didn t use it, neither did he Brilliant lawyer, philosopher, leading figure in the Scottish Enlightenment and a striking, complex, flamboyant character to boot. Not bad for a laddie who started his education at Laurencekirk primary school. Born James Burnett in October 1714 to a minor laird in Monboddo, Kincardineshire, an estate described by James Boswell during his travels with Dr Johnson as a wretched place, wild and naked with a poor old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the case was finally to be decided before the bench, the new Lord gave a blisteringly powerful closing argument when it looked to all that the case was lost. They should have known better. Monboddo s five hour speech turned the tide for Douglas as well as gaining for his Lordship a brilliant legal reputation. His personal life was not without its personal tragedy though. He married beautiful, accomplished Grace Farquharson. They had a son and two daughters but sadly, Grace died giving birth to child number three. Arthur, his son, also died in childhood. As he grew older he indulged his passion for writing and in 1773, published a massive tome, Of the Origin and Progress of Man and Language , a study of evolution predating Darwinian theory. Remarking on the humanoid features of the orang utang, then a little known primate, Monboddo daringly suggested that the ape might be related to humans. Anticipating Charles Darwin by generations, this offhand observation made him a laughing stock. Unsurprisingly this and other offbeat ideas afforded endless matter for jest by the wags of the day although nowadays they are understood to be related to the theory of evolution. In Boswell: Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides, Samuel Johnson says, We talked of the Ouran Outan and of Lord Monboddo s thinking that he might be taught to speak. Dr. Johnson treated this with ridicule and said, ..... it is as possible that the Ouran Outang does not speak, as that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Soviet Union s Nuclear Arms Race Within four years of the United States bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Soviet Union successfully tested its first nuclear weapon. Ultimately, this test would begin the arms race between the US and the USSR, which would come to be one of the largest sources of political tension between the two countries throughout the Cold War. While lack of information and historical bias from an American point of view suggests that the USSR created its nuclear industry solely to beat the west, further analysis shows that the Soviet Union had wide ranging purposes for the creation of its nuclear industry. Therefore, while the United Statessuccesses in nuclear technology may have expedited the launch of the Soviet Union s nuclear program, ultimately,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The investment in alternate energy that the USSR made, especially for a highly industrial country whose economic development largely relied on the production of fossil fuels, is unparalleled. The Soviet Union had two main, long term incentives for investing in nuclear energy: One, 80% of the countries fossil resources were located in the eastern half of the country while 75% of the population lived in the western half, and two, nuclear power is less damaging to the local environments than conventional fossil power. Interestingly, the USSR actually led the world in the use of nuclear power to generate electricity, creating the world s first nuclear power plant at Obninsk on June 27th, 1954. The success and speed of the Soviet Union s reactor production shows both advantages and disadvantages of the country s political system, as the country was able to allocate all resources to the research of various power generation methods without the limits of waiting for individual company investment; however, this often incurred high costs both with safety standards and economically. However, by 1985, the countries investments in nuclear energy production appeared to have paid off, with nuclear energy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Process Of Amending The Us Constitution 1.The process of amending the US Constitution is an intentionally difficult one. Yet those in each branch of government have found ways in which the Constitution can be changed informally. Describe the methods, both formal and informal, of constitutional change. Article V of the Constitution was formed through a compromise that stated that congress or a convention of states has amendment power. This is known as the formal process, in which two steps are utilized: proposal and ratification. Any member of the House of Representatives or the Senate can propose to amend the Constitution. If it is approved by two thirds of the originating house of congress, whether is it the Senate or the House of Representatives, it is then sent to the other side for a vote. If it again receives a two thirds vote it will be sent to the states for ratification. The convention of states also has the ability to amend the Constitution, however this is very unlikely. To force congress to hold a convention two thirds of the state legislatures would have to apply for such a convention. Although many applications have been sent, never in history has a convention like this been held. On the off chance that either happens, the proposed amendment will be required to have a three fourths vote of the state to become part of the Constitution. Since this formal procedure is extremely difficult to complete, the amendments delivered have an extensive impact. For example the first 10 amendments, known as the ... • 8. Gender, Gender And Gender Bias Language and gender has become an increasingly popular topic of study over recent decades, most likely due to the second wave of feminism in the 1960s and 70s. This can also be seen in the fact that goals of linguistic studies shifted at this point, to not just look at grammatical differences between males and females but to examine sexism and genderbias in language. The wording of such studies becomes increasingly important in the modern era, as gender is now recognised as a socially constructed concept of masculine and feminine features, based on biological sex but not limited to that. Simone de Beauvoir (1952) believed that we gradually become more masculine or feminine but we are not inherently gendered. Language and gender was not developed as a serious subfield until the 1975 publication of Robin Lakoff s Language and Woman s Place. Lakoff argued that women use particular language features in order to deny themselves means of strong expression, which are stereotypically reserved for males. These features include shows of uncertainty, such as hedging and indirect requests. Indirect requests include making a statement in hope that it will elicit the desired response from someone else without openly asking. Women s speech seems... to contain more instances of well , y know ... words that convey the sense that the speaker is uncertain about what [she] is saying (Lakoff, 1975:53). Dale Spender (1980) talks about gender power relations, but disagrees with Lakoff as she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Residual Online Income and HubPages Essay Residual Online Income and HubPages HubPages is a residual online income site that lets you earn money from your writing. You do so by creating hubs (articles), which are just pages full of written content, photos, videos, polls, quizzes and last but certainly not least advertising. When you sign up and become a Hubber, as the members of HubPages are affectionately called, you are allowed to start publishing hubs. The way you earn residual online income is by sharing a portion of the ad revenue generated by these hubs. HubPages does not pay its members directly, however; you receive payments by means of third party advertisers. And here s where its residual online income program gets a little confusing. You must monetize... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, if someone clicks an AdSense ad during your 60% of the time, you get 100% of the revenue. If someone clicks an ad during HubPages 40%, the site keeps 100% of the revenue and you get zip. Perplexing. I don t know about you, but I would prefer a share of every ad click rather than be subjected to this convoluted 60/40 system. It seems like Hubbers would need to monitor their affiliate accounts very closely and perform due diligence. It s not that I don t trust HubPages for residual online income, but I m no babe in the woods, either. It wouldn t surprise me if HubPages were tilting the 40% in its favor during peak traffic times, etc. Rest assured that I will scrutinize HubPages and its impression splits on my own accounts. When it comes to residual online income, I confess to having a bit of a negative attitude toward HubPages. Yet I knew from the beginning that I didn t understand why. Perhaps it was hearing the sob story about my friend making zero money on her hubs, of which there are only four. Maybe it was reading somewhere that HubPages recently got a Google smackdown and then noticing that the site registered a lower PR (Google PageRank) than before. • 10. Alcohol In America Nick Martinez Mr. Likes Period 7 LA 9 November 2016 The Truth: The Reality of Alcohol s Effect on America The term alcohol is such a casual term in America. Few people think twice about it. We Americans think we know everything about it, but do we really? The truth is, alcohol is in fact a drug. It is not one to take lightly either. Whenever an American sees a couple of guys drinking beers at a bar or a couple in love having a glass of wine, those people are really just doing drugs and trying to get a high. But few people see it like that; how it truthfully is. Alcohol has a lot of the same characteristics and attributes as many illegal drugs that people consider so dire. Alcohol kills people, ruins relationships, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because alcohol is legal and so pervasive, it plays a major role in the world of crime. According to a recent article, Alcohol is a factor in 40 percent of all violent crimes today. According to the Department of Justice, 37 percent of almost two million convicted offenders currently in jail, report that they were drinking at the time of their arrest. (National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence) Sadly, alcohol is most frequently correlated with offenses of murder, rape, assault, and child and spousal abuse. Aside from crime, alcohol takes a heavy toll on the American economy. It is estimated that the cost of excessive alcohol consumption in the United States totaled about $223.5 billion in 2006 (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). This equates to about $1.90 per drink; meaning that for every drink bought, it is costing taxpayers about $1.90. Further research indicates that in these $223.5 billion represent loss in workplace productivity, health care expenses, criminal justice expenses, and motor vehicle crashes. It is now apparent that the effects of alcohol not only impacts those who are directly affected by crime or physical complications by the drug, but it strikes every single American in their bank ... Simulation enables researchers to construct models to understand and evaluate current systems and alternatives for applying new processes or improving current processes in various areas (Greasley, 2004; Ingalls, 2008; Iqbal et al., 2012). The simulation method has been adopted in various industries such as airline, port operation, banking, service, food and transportation (Robinson, 2004; Kotachi et al., 2013). Although simulationraises quality concerns and does not provide absolute answers, simulation is flexible to design simple and complex processes (Chung, 2003; Kotachi et al., 2013). Researchers used different approaches to simulate returnable container (RC) models such as agent approach, regression approach and discrete event simulation approach. • 14. Basketball Descriptive Speech Tweet! the ref blew the whistle and the game started and we won the jump ball. The ball was tipped up to me and I dribbled the ball up the court and I called a play. We were playing our rivals, Chatham, who beat our team last year. This year is the year we are going to redeem ourselves! It was Christmas Eve and this win would be the perfect early Christmas present. X! , I shouted. This play was supposed to get the ball to me to shoot a three pointer in the corner. We ran the play to perfection. I caught the ball, jumped up and shot it. I watched the ball as it sunk through the hoop as I landed back down on the hardwood floor. I ran back on defense guarding their best player. He called for a screen and drove to the hoop for an easy layup. The game went back and forth like this for the entire time until they got the lead. Next time down the court it was our ball. I fired the basketball like a gun at my teammate, pass the defense, who caught the ball and threw up a bad shot. My coach called a timeout and scolded him and put him on the bench. Johnny! We need to get the ball inside the paint to Nate! my coached belted with a look of worry on his face. Yes, coach! But what if it isn t executed correctly? I replied. It will work if you guys focus and do what we practiced. he responded. I took his advice on it and the next time our team was on offense I called the play and we successfully got the ball inside to Nate (our center). He caught the ball and dribbled toward the hoop determined to lay the ball in the basket. As he jumped off the ground he was tackled by the opposing center. Tweeeet, he blared his whistle. Nate fell to the ground clutching his knee from the impact. Some of my teammates and I hustled over to help him up but he couldn t get up. After a couple of minutes of downtime, and trying to get Nate off the ground, we finally started up again. Nate was a big part of the team. He led the team in blocks and rebounds. The game carried on until the 4th quarter. We were barely hanging on. There were 10 seconds left in the game and we were down two points. I trotted up the court dribbling the ball in my left hand. • 15. Gatsby Women The simple life of the Gatsby women I m p paralyzed with happiness is just one of the stereotypes of a woman in the 1920 s. In Scott F. Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, there is an often ignored view of the women s perspective. It brings attention to how women have no expectations to go far in life, or have a reason for life besides, to reproduce. The absurd thing is that the women don t have any interest to break out of the stereotype, and try to make a life for themselves. Throughout the story, Daisy Buchanan, Jordan Baker, and Myrtle Wilson are treated as possessions rather than humans. The female character first mentioned is Daisy, a perfect example of a woman in the 1920 s. She is married to Tom, and has a daughter Pammy, who doesn t have a job, and is very flirtatious. In The Great Gatsby, Daisy has always been in the upper class so to speak, so she doesn t know what it is like to not get her way, and has never settled for anything less. When she sees Gatsby s shirts, Daisy says They re such beautiful shirts, she sobbed, her voice muffled in the thick folds. It makes me sad because I ve never seen such such beautiful shirts before. (Fitzgerald,118). What is meant by Daisy crying over the shirts, is that it shows that she has finally found a lifestyle that is greater than her current one. It makes her sad when she sees the shirts because she knows that it s a lifestyle that she has always wanted, but has never had the chance to have until this point, so she is upset, because she knows that she would be risking everything if she chose this life. It also shows, that women can be overdramatic in situations that should have little to no effect on a male. In addition, Daisy also believes it is better to be dumb than to be knowledgeable as a woman. Growing up Daisy had come from a wealthy family, and has never known poverty. She says in chapter 5 All right, I said, I m glad it s a girl. And I hope she ll be a fool that s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool. (118). Most states will cast all of their electoral votes for only one candidate but some will allow their electors to split their votes. Sinclair firsts extends his hand to the other world when he lies about stealing apples in order to impress a young boy named Kromer which causes Sinclair to torment himself and thus allows Kromer to do the same when he blackmails him. This is where Sinclair meets his first mentor, Max Demian. This mentor taught Sinclair many wonders and causes him to go into a bout of self discovery. After years of switching between the two worlds, he discovers a godnamed Abraxas. Damian had once discussed with Sinclair the God Jehovah and how everything that is pure and sacred is given to him while everything that is sinful is seen as the devils. He explains that he believes both worlds should be worshipped as a whole and you must either find a god that is both the Father and the devil or have two gods. This is why the god Abraxas intrigues Sinclair to such a degree as he is the god that reigns over both heavenly and demonic; the combination of the two worlds. In ancient times, the stereotype of a woman was working as a housewife, taking care of children and doing housekeeping jobs, while man were responsible for hunting or farming. As human civilization goes on, woman are no longer restricted in household routines and have been widely accepted as an indispensable source of labor force in a variety of occupations. However disparity of career preference between male and female are fairly pronounced, particular in computer science. An undeniable fact is that employees of tech companies that are typically related to computer science in Silicon Valley are overwhelming male. 17 percent of Google tech workers are women, according to the diversity data released by Google itself (Diversity at Google, 2014). In 2014, female tech workers make up 15 percent of Facebook s workforce (Constine, 2014). Also in 2014, Yahoo reports ratio of female technical workers is 15 percent and Twitter reports only 10 percent of technical workforce is female (CNNMoney, 2014). According to an evaluation published in 2014 by Anita Borg Institute for women and technology, average ratio for female workers in bay area is approximate 20 percent (Weise, 2014). European Banks are not required to hold a capital buffer against the sovereign debt holding of any European state, regardless of the risk involved. As a result European governments had issued excessive debt, taking advantage of a sovereign subsidy of other EU member states in the form of the 0 risk weight for their MFI. If such a risk finally materialises, MFI will be left undercapitalised because they do not hold a capital buffer for their sovereign exposure. Therefore 0 risk represents a channel, through which sovereign risk can extend to any EU member state. Thus, the focus of the paper is to develop a new measure that quantifies the banks risk... Ludwig Choulant published one of the earliest catalogues of anatomical illustrations in 1852. The Geschichte und Bibliographie der Anatomischen Abbildung continued to attract attention as Mortimer Frank revised and translated the catalogue in 1920 and in 1945 an expanded version was published which remains a useful resource of early anatomical illustration. The 1852 edition included 43 woodcuts and three chromolithographs to illustrate the entries which range from the earliest Arabic manuscript illuminations to anatomical atlases published in Choulant s time. Choulant understands the history of anatomic illustration to allow for an easy distinction between artistic and scientific anatomy. Artistic anatomy according to Choulant idealises anatomical beauty and overlooks particulars for the sake of perfection. Scientific anatomy and illustration has a didactic purpose, while artistic anatomy is not intended to instruct anyone with the exception of other artists. Without doubt, scientific anatomy must also generalise in order to teach anatomy, though it would be better at displaying the functions and relative positions of organs than artistic anatomy, where the primary concern lies in musculature. Salinger s book The Catcher in the Rye helped contribute to this revolution by highlighting new philosophies in literature. This is evident in pre 1950 writing as well as the changes that persisted through the remaining part of the decade, especially in the writing style popularized during the Great Depression. The Catcher in the Rye also contributed to a change in conflict. This conflict started as an external object to overcome, but after the release of this book and other, the conflict changed from external to internal and became a moral or philosophical struggle to be thought about rather than something to overcome. Jerome David Salinger began his life on January 1, 1919 in New York, New York. Salinger was born to Sol and Miriam Salinger, and he was the younger of two children. • 34. Is It Morally Permissible To Eat Meat Essay Introduction Is it morally permissible to eat meat? Much argument has arisen in the current society on whether it is morally permissible to eat meat. Many virtuous fruitarians and the other meat eating societies have been arguing about the ethics of eating meat (which results from killing animals). The important part of the dispute is based on the animal welfare, nutrition value from meat, convenience, and affordability of meat based foods compared to vegetable based foods and other factors like environmental moral code, culture, and religion. All these points are important in justifying whether humans are morally right when choosing to eat meat. This paper will argue that it is morally impermissible to eat meat by focusing on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like humans, animals also exhibit such reactions when killed. This evidence disputes the notion that animals do not feel pain. It follows that no animal would be willing to terminate its life for another animal s survival; that is, an animal will not kill itself for the benefit of another animal. According to this argument, meat eating humans should understand that it is not morally permissible to exterminate other animals for their survival. Additionally, some societies argue that the pain that a human would experience is no equitable to the pain animals experience. This is a misleading statement since all creatures experience pain when killed. Thus, meat eating is not ethically accepted since it causes a lot of pain to animals (Singer and Mason, 2007). Morals It is crucial to apprehend the difference between moral agents and moral patients because this difference is a foundation to the upcoming discussion. Moral agents have the ability to identify what morally ought to be done hence, the ability to act or fail to act morally. In contrast, moral patients lack the ability control their behavior (Singer and Mason, 2007). Owing to the fact that moral agents have the capacity to make moral judgments, they should be accountable for their actions. The community requires all animals to make ethical choices yet, animals are incapable of making such decisions. Therefore, several people argue that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Corruption In Culture Why corruption is rampant in sport? Corrupt Culture Corruption has always existed in society and no country will get rid of it entirely. Many people considered that political corruption is a cultural issue. Some of them also stated that gift giving is part of our culture and often be used to quibble their corrupt acts (Larmour, 2012). However, people should not confuse gift giving with bribery or corruption and culture should not long be the excuse of culture. In fact, it is unreasonable to assume that political culture are inherently corrupt and rooted in any society. Political leaders violate social and political norms do not mean that there are no norms (Alatas, 1968). Corruption in politics is the result that political leaders rationally make and economically calculated. In this situation, culture does not play a vital role in this decision. Since corruption is not a cultural circumstance in politics, anti corruption programs might be efficiently implemented. This is because the prevention will not focus on the changes of culture, instead it could aim at the vulnerabilities of a particular moment in corruption history. However, corruption in sport is different from political corruption that there exists a specific and vulnerable environment for corruption. Foreign Tax Credit The income earned by the U.S. individuals and corporations in the foreign countries or foreign source are taxed by the U.S. government, even though other countries also tax any income earned within their borders. To offset this double taxation of income by two different countries, the U.S. grants both individuals and corporations a foreign taxcredit (FTC) that can be used to offset income taxes assessed by a foreign country on the income earned there (Foreign Tax Credit, FTC, n.d.). The FTC is allowable for foreign income taxes and other similar taxes, such as excess profit and war profit taxes. However, only income taxes qualify for the credit. These desires involve fulfilling His plan which includes, living in community, behaving peacefully, obeying and respecting Him, and repenting of sins. God makes His desires known, and in turn, His people obey and disobey these desires. More specifically, examples of this arise in the stories pertaining to Adam and Eve, Noah, Cain and Abel, and Jonahand the people of Nineveh. Noah as well as Jonah and the people of Nineveh show numerous examples of acting on God s plans and desires in a positive way, while the other examples contrast this and provide instances where God s desires are not followed. • 53. Pornography, Erotica, and Nude Art – There Is a Difference... Pornography is a subject that has always been argued and stirs up controversy almost anywhere it may arise. There are people who are against it, and would like to ban all pornography for the benefit of everyone, while there are those who defend it, claiming it is part of their guaranteed free speech, to express themselves in a manner of their choosing. With the issue of pornographybeing debated and spoken of, one major mistake people make is that they look at pornography according to their own views. Different types of people look at pornography differently, and therefore create their own definition of pornography in their minds. Usually, pornography tends to be mistaken with nude art and erotica, so some people consider erotic as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So the students were then allowed to look at the subject s breasts and ponder the importance of nude art as they made replicas of the woman in a graceful, artistic, position. The students probably submitted a signed note from their parents to be involved in the sculpture session, because I do not know of any public school that would allow its students to take part in this type of class during school hours, on school grounds. The woman s nudity is considered as art because she is posing for an art class, which was allowed by a public school, although I highly do not think that it would actually happen. Nude art s purpose is to portray the human body as an art form, and not an object of sexuality or arousal. Both pornography and erotica have the main purpose to sexually stimulate people, but pornography does not show the emotional connection between the individuals involved in the sexual acts, while erotica does. Erotica is just like nude art, except that erotica possesses no artistic value, and art does contain an artistic value that is accepted by everyone. There is a form of art called erotic art that I guess is a mixture of erotica and nude art. But if guidelines were to be set by the government, art forms that could be on the borderline of erotic art could be easier to distinguish. Pornography is not classified as nude art at all, and nude art is not pornography. Pornography just has the sole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. Pros And Cons Of Sex Offender Registry Even with threats at our nation s borders and innovation becoming stagnant in our race to be the best, one of the most feared crimes committed in the United States is sexual abuse. The 2005 Gallup poll concluded that 36 percent of the polling group revealed their concerns about terrorism in the United States. This percentage of people pales in comparison to the 66 percent, who were very concerned about sexual offenders (Yoder). As far back as the late 1940 s, states such as California have implemented sex offenderregistries. Agan describes the laws that required sex offenders to provide their place of residence and to have annual checkups (Worley and Worley 335). Later in the 1990 s, these laws were revised, the most famous law being Megan s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it was determined that in 2006, California s website for its sex offender registry was visited over 180 million times (Wagner 266). Furthermore, the 2006 California Statistical Abstract, the total population of California was approximately 37,444,000 (10). With this fact present, statistically each registered resident of California would had to have searched for the website about 5 times independently. These statistics seem to support that the people use these websites for purposes they were not made for. An example of misuse of the sex offender registry was in the case of a sex offender named Jeff (not his real name) who was assaulted by his former friend who found him on the registry. Jeff s friend decided to bring two bikers to come and abuse Jeff (Yoder). This specific incident is not isolated, but is widespread. A recent study found that the overwhelming majority of respondents [sex offenders] reported that they had experience significant levels of harassment as a result of having to publicly register as sex offenders (Worley and Worley 342). The public registry allows for the sexual offender to be ridiculed and assaulted even after their determined sentenced time for their misconduct is over. An even more surprising study done by Caputo, Caputo and Brodsky, Zevitz et al., and Zevitz claimed that notification [in the way of sex offender information online] can increase anxiety [to the public] (Levenson et al. 589). The public registry is now failing at what it was made to do, make the public have a sense of security. Instead, this security theater tactic has backfired for the government, making people feel more uneasy. An even more revealing study showed that out of 232 sex offenders, 9% did not live at the address that the online database had presented (Worley and Worley 337). These laws that sacrifice one s safety ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. Authority Is A Fundamental Part Of Life Essay Authority is a fundamental part of life. It is utilized in both micro and macro ways, such as it being used in a particular group of individuals or a mass society. In order for society to function, some aspect of authority is required. Police officers use authority to maintain order and obedience throughout communities. Parents possess characteristics of authority in order to teach children right from wrong. As well as, teachers are considered authority figures since they need to control and maintain obediencein the classroom. Authority cannot exist without obedience. Society is developed on this notion. Without authority, and its required obedience, disorder and disruption would occur. But how much obedience to authority is necessary? When is it too much or too little? Authority figures hold such power, that it quite often becomes abused. We can relate back to these questions by looking into the novel, Crimes of Power and States of Impunity , and connecting it with the element of the chain of command. Often, higher authority individuals abuse their powers, just like those involved in the scandal at Abu Ghraib. The American Soldiers were ambiguously declaring to torture, punish, interrogate, and harm the inmates prior to interrogation. Yet, these soldiers were following the commands of their higher authorities, that exactly being the United States of America. Obeying the authority can sometimes be perilous, especially, when one s morals are disrupted. When you are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
