A Brief Note On Arthritis And Its Effects On The Body

Gouty Arthritis

Gouty arthritis, more commonly known as gout, is a very painful condition that primarily affects the
joints especially those of the great toe, ankles, wrist, and fingers. Gout is most commonly seen in men,
particularly those between the ages of 40 and 50 (Bradford, 2014 ). Gout is not a disease that is new to
society; it has been around for centuries. The first recorded incidence of gout was in Egypt in 2640
BC, to the Egyptians gout was called podagra (Nuki, 2006). Gout is highly linked to one s diet and in
history gout was known to affect the affluent population more than any other. Humans are the only
living organisms that seem to have the problem of gout. The reason this is so is most likely due to the
fact that in other organisms, such as reptiles, fish, dogs, have an enzyme, uricase, that is responsible
for the breakdown of uric acid. The leading cause of gout is due to the ineffective metabolism of
purines. When purines are ingested in the body it is converted into urate. Gout leads to hyperuricemia,
which is high blood uric acid levels. For a person who ingests a normal and balanced amount of
purines, the body is able to handle it and filter it out of the body via the kidneys. If a person has a
decreased function of their kidneys their chances of getting gout, alongside many other things,
significantly increases. The kidneys are responsible for

Writing Out Notes And Homework On A Computer
With technology s new advancements, students are getting their homework done a lot sooner than they
used to by writing their notes out on the computer instead of on paper. Is getting homework done
faster worth having to study longer later? Writing out notes and homework by hand has more
educational benefits than typing notes and homework on a computer. Various studies have proven that
writing notes have a variety of benefits that exceed those of typing notes on a computer; retention rate,
distractions, and higher grades.
In an experiment done by Mueller and Oppenheimer, students were instructed to take notes, some
students did so by hand, others by laptops. Afterwards, they were given a test on what they took notes
on. Students who wrote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The results were that those who took the standard class had considerably higher marks than those who
took the hybrid class. Those in the hybrid course earned an average of only 69.2% while the students
in the lecture earned an average of 77.9%. According to the researchers, students in the hybrid course
were less engaged with the material than those in the traditional section. (Adams) This is why they
believe that those who took the standard class were more successful in earning better grades than the
other students. In a different study by Robert Williams and Allan Eggert, Notetaking aids one s ability
to recall noted information and do well on exams related to that information. This is why it is so
important for students to take notes in class. When you write out notes in class while the teacher is
talking, you are forced to listen and summarize the key points of the lecture because writing notes are
significantly slower than typing the notes. When students take notes on computers, they generally tend
to type exactly what is being said instead of focusing on why it is important. When these students go
back and read their notes, they don t have a decent conceptual understanding of what was written
beforehand. COnsequently, these students need to spend more time studying to get the same results as

Mephastophilis Quotes
Mephastophilis is a great substance to Marlowe s play. With being a servant to Lucifer,
Mephastophilis enlists people willing to pledge their souls to the Devil. With Dr. Faustus,
Mephastophilis convinces Faustus to pledge his soul for years worth of necromantic magic. The
dynamic character he is, Mephastophilis is sympathetic towards Faustus, has the sophistication, and
provides Faustus with a clear image of Hell. Mephastophilis befriends Faustus and gains his trust, this
friendship gives Mephastophilis the guarantee that Faustus soul will end up in Hell. Mephastophilis
manipulates Faustus s feelings towards God.
In his first appearance, Mephastophilis reveals that he s forever a servant to Lucifer and must do
nothing without his master s permission. In scene three line 47 49, Mephastophilis states his intentions
about collecting souls for the devil. For when we hear one rack the name of God, Abjure the
scriptures, and his savior Christ, We fly in hope to get his glorious soul . All he wants to do is enlarge
his master s kingdom. Faustus, informs Mephastophilis how he is willing to serve Lucifer given he
gets to rule and explore the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am instance to prove the contrary, For I am damned and now in hell (Scene 5. 136 136).

Race, Class and Gender
Franklin (1987) also alluded that patriarchy did not serve black men; the notion of black men being
domineering over groups is questionable. Besides, Pleck (2008) claimed that the male heterosexual
homosexual dichotomy is used as the main symbolic tool defining the rankings of masculinity.
Highlighting racial politics, it would be interesting to have a study focusing on the power relations
between white gay men and black heterosexual men. This is premised on the stance that the racial
hierarchy, regardless of its dismissal, seems to continue to characterise socio economic relations. ????
stated that race remains a factor because it is deeply embedded within the subconscious, a discussion
on this shall follow suit.

Erasmus (2008) stated that apartheid discourse merged race, class, culture and nation together. While
MacDonald (2006) argued that apartheid is rightly perceived as racism, it was also racialist. Racialists
view race as a source of identity which marks difference between human beings. They regard
identities as axes of political institutions and then urge states to be organized on the basis of race.
Whitehead and Barret (2001) stated that in white supremacist contexts, black masculinities play
symbolic roles for white gender constructions whereby whiteness and white men and women are the
norm and blackness is the Other.
Seekings (2008) buttresses this viewpoint as he argued that apartheid was a system aimed at ordering
society and explicitly according to racial categories and this was achieved utilizing state power and its
apparatuses. Apartheid entrenched radicalized identities and fostered racial division at the same time
as exacerbating inequality in the distribution of income (Seekings, 2008: 5). Seekings (2008) also
cited that the apartheid regime had three broad objectives. The first one was ideological in effort to
maintain racial purity; policies prohibiting inter racial marriage were formulated. Residential
segregation was also enacted as part of this endeavour. Another objective cited by Seekings (2008) is
that apartheid was utilized to establish and maintain economic privilege for the white

How I Taught My Friend Essay
My friend Ling asked me to help her with her English pronunciation at the beginning of this year. I
tutored her for two weeks and we did not have very official tutoring time; so mostly, we
communicated in English and I corrected her whenever I spotted a mistake. She is a Chinese girl who
comes from Chengdu, and she has problems producing some of the sounds. For example, she always
pronounces six as sex , which ultimately made her come to me since it kept embarrassing her. I first
taught her some basic pronouncing rules, and then we began the spotting then correcting session. After
reading Wiggins (2012) article about feedback, I think the way that I taught my friend was to have her
learn from the feedback. For example, one day when we were in Mexico City, we were talking about
how to make her pronunciation better.
She said, I don t know why I cannot prolounce (pronounce) certain sounds .
Then I corrected her, it s pronounce, not prolounce. It s an n not an L .
Then she tried, pro~l~oun~ce .
No, it s pro~n~oun~ce , I corrected her again.
Pronounce? Pronounce? , she looked at me with her eyes widely opened.
Yeah , I said.
But I cannot figure it out. What s the difference? she asked.
People in southern China always have difficulty differentiate N from L . So I taught her the two
sounds different tongue positions in the mouth. Then she became better but there were still times she
mispronounced them. I told her to be careful with these sounds for the

The Pros And Cons Of Banning NFLAthletes
Many NFl teams had players with criminal records including Minnesota Vikings, New
England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins and many more teams have players that have
gotten arrested, has done community service, and had have game suspension and are still playing.
Some NFL players will plead not guilty and win, or plead no contest and get put on probation, they
could get suspended and they will play again. NFL Athletes should never get banned from football
because jail time and community service is enough, it gives athletes a platform for second chances,
and it is discrimination against the NFL profession.

He pleaded no contest and got put on probation and suspended for one game. He then thought about
his decisions and is now playing for Seattle. For these reasons, NFL athletes should never be banned
from football for bad choices because jail and community service is enough.
When NFL players make a bad decision and they still get to play it gives athletes a platform for
second chances. There are an estimated twelve active players with domestic violence arrest. One for
example is Brandon Marshall. He has three charges and served a three game suspension for personal
conduct violation. But from there on his story changes. Brandon
Marshall got treatment and then decided to be an outspoken voice against domestic violence and is
now a success on and off the field. As a result, when NFL players make a bad decision and they still

If NFL players are banned for making one bad decision it is discrimination against the

The Susie Scenario Essay
For most people, anxiety is something that occurs occasionally throughout their lives such as, right
before a big meeting, presentation, tests, or a simple medical procedure. Other people are facing
challenges daily due to anxiety; some are diagnosed while others are not. Anxiety includes,
distressingly unpleasant and maladaptive feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and physical reactions.
Students with anxiety often worry about their competence, even when they are not being evaluated
(Durwin, 467). These struggles affect the performance of adults in their everyday lives and more
specifically; a child s performance in academics. It is the role as an educator, to aid students with
anxiety and other disorders with coping with these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this circumstance, Susie feels over stimulated due to her need for perfection; inevitably causing her
to fall behind on assignments. Someone with severe anxiety splits their attention between their anxiety
and the task, instead of focusing solely on the assignment. This is made apparent through Susie s lack
of assignment completion. She is going through something known as the vicious cycle. Essentially,
Susie becomes fixated on a specific part of her assignment which distracts her from completing the
full project, leading to a poor grade and disappointment from Susie; causing more anxiety and another
incomplete assignment due to the lack of focus. Therefore, Susie cannot perform at the optimal level.
A simple task as mentioned earlier, notetaking; provides everyone with a tolerance for a higher arousal
level. Notetaking is something that can be performed with less thought, effort, and stress which allows
someone with anxiety to partake in the activity more easily. Provided that Susie s main problems are
anxiety, disorganization, and perfectionism; it is important to design a modification plan that will
reduce these symptoms and create an environment that is more conducive to her learning. To begin, an
educator can use the shaping method, inclusive of a cognitive behavioral treatment and token
economy, as a way to control Susie s disorder. Shaping involves reinforcing small steps that move
toward the behavior until the entire behavior is displayed (Durwin

events and dates in this time period but also people. The top five people of this periodization include
Muhammad Ibn Abdullah, Charlemagne, Zheng He, Chinggis Khan, and Ibn Battuta. This people

[edit] Reduced risk of Alzheimer s disease
Several studies comparing moderate coffee drinkers (about 2 cups a day) with light coffee drinkers
(less than one cup a day) found that those who drank more coffee were significantly less likely to
develop Alzheimer s disease later in life. [2][3]
[edit] Reduced risk of gallstone disease
Drinking caffeinated coffee has been correlated with a lower incidence of gallstones and gallbladder
disease in both men[4] and women[5] in two studies performed by the Harvard School of Public

Aside from keeping you alert and awake, coffee can also keep you young and fighting cancer. So,
continue reading for answers to some frequently asked questions about coffee and its antioxidants.
What are antioxidants?
Antioxidants are any vitamin or nutrient that can help prevent cancer or damage to the heart and other
tissues caused by free radicals. By neutralizing free radicals, they prevent cell degradation.
Antioxidant rich foods include blueberries, raspberries, dates, chocolate and, of course, coffee.
What type of antioxidants are in coffee?
The antioxidants found in coffee are called polyphenols. More specifically, the compound is
methylpridinium. The antioxidant isn t present in raw, green coffee beans, but is actually created
during the roasting process.
How much coffee is enough?
Research has shown that people who drink one to two coffees a day have half the risk of developing
liver cancer when compared to people who didn t drink coffee. Meanwhile, drinking 4 to 6 cups of
coffee can reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes by as much as 50 percent.
However, despite the reduced risk for these diseases and other cancers, like oral, esophageal, and
pharyngeal cancer, doctors don t recommend you start drinking 10 cups a day. Coffee is still a
stimulant and a diuretic and if drunk in excess can cause heart problems, anxiety and possible
dangerously elevated blood pressure.
Can I get these antioxidants from other sources?

Nacl Affects on Enzymatic Reaction Essay
The Effects that 1%, 4%, and 16% Sodium Chloride (NaCl) Concentration Had on the Rate of
Reaction of Catecholase Enzymes in a Potato (Solanum tuberosum).
Abstract
Enzymes are a key component of a cell. They make chemical reactions happen faster because they
lower the activation energy to make the chemical reaction occur. Most of the time, it is best if enzymes
produce as efficiently as possible, but in some cases it is better if they do not, when dealing with
potatoes (Solanum tuberosum). If the catecholase enzyme of the potato is hindered, it is less likely to
brown when it is cooked. To see how efficient sodium chloride is at slowing down these enzymes, the
experiment measured the rate of reaction when the enzymes were exposed ... Show more content on

There are three factors that will alter an enzyme: temperature, pH and salt. All three will change the
structure of the enzyme by denaturation and rendering it useless when a drastic change occurs from
levels that are normal. A slight alteration can speed up reaction to certain saturation or slow the
process of reaction. Enzymes have a substrate: the substrate for the catecholase enzyme is catechol
and oxygen. When the substrate combines with the catecholase enzyme of a potato, the product is a
reddish brown color called benzoquinone. This product is what turns fruits and vegetables brown
(Briggs and others 2010). Therefore, slowing or stopping the process of would increase shelf life of
some food, or at least make the foods appearance appetizing much longer. The equation for this
chemical reaction is:
Enzyme Substrate Product Catechol + Oxygen Catecholase Benzoquinone The hindering of the
Benzoquinone could alter the production, and could lower the cost of produce. Nathalie Santis and
others (2005) preformed an experiment to see the effects of various NaCl solutions on thin slices of
potato that were fried. The potatoes were sliced 3mm thick and 30mm in diameter, fourteen slices in
all. All fourteen were blanched at 70°C for five minutes. Seven were placed in pure water at 26°C and
the other seven went into several NaCl solutions (0.6%, 1.2%, 1.8%, 2.4%, 3.0%, 6.0% and

The RMS (Royal Mail Ship) Titanic was the middle child in a series of three ships: the Olympic, the
Titanic, and the Britannic. These unprecedentedly large ships were built in Belfast, Ireland, in the
shipyard of Harold and Wolff for the White Star Line company. The Titanic and her sister ships were
built 269.1 meters long, 28.2 meters wide, 53 meters from the keel to the top of the funnels, and
weighing in at a whopping 46,000 tons (Felkins, Leighly Jr., Jankovic, 1998). On April 2, 1912, The
Titanic finally sets sail to Southampton, England, where it was to start its maiden voyage to New
York. Finally, on April 12, 1912, Titanic commenced its infamous voyage. Just four days into the
journey, tragedy had struck. Despite receiving multiple warnings of dangerous ice sections and
icebergs throughout the day, the Titanic continues on its course through the frigid Atlantic waters

Heart Of Darkness Figurative Language Essay
The wicked accepts a bribe in secret to pervert the ways of justice. (ESV Prov. 17:23). Man will take
anything if it can result in something positive. In the novel, Heart of Darkness, leaving civilization can
lead to depravity, furthermore creating corruption amongst the company in the Congo. Throughout the
novel, depravity is a key element in people and the company, constructing exploitation. In Conrad s
novel, he uses the literary elements of figurative language, symbolism, and Biblical allusions to
demonstrate the theme of human depravity when removed from civilization. The literary element of
figurative language is used to help create a better picture for the reader and provide a better
understanding of the novel. One of the literary elements used in Heart of Darkness is the appearance

The depravity of the company shows the Biblical allusion of how the mind dictates how we live
according to the mind and/or flesh. The men in the Congo collecting all of the ivory are living
according the mind by living in the moment and not what the end result could be. Heart of Darkness
also displays Biblically that the men of the Company are living between light and darkness. . . . too
dull even to know you are being assaulted by the powers of darkness. (Conrad 45). Darkness hovers
over the Congo and what the Company has brought to it. The men evidently have no idea how they re
living and what is actually taking place around them other than the fact that they are gaining ivory.
They are bestowing upon the flesh and not remaining aware of what is taking place around them. For
those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh. . . (ESV Rom. 8:5). All

The Relationship Between Antigone And Ismene
Mauricio Posos P.5 Antigone Questions 1 5
1. The relationship between Antigone and Ismene is close because they are both sisters but at the same
time their relationship isn t that strong. One of reasons they are foils to each other is because of their
disagreement about burying the body of their brother Polyneices. Antigone already knows that she is
willing to die to let her brother rest in peace but Ismene on the other isn t on her side, instead she
doesn t want to help Antigone because she want to face the consequences that come with burying
Polyneices. Antigone and Ismene are foils to each other because on one hand Antigone is willing to

3. Haemon s role in the play is to be the peacemaker, as he questions his father s decision on punishing
Antigone for putting her brother to rest. You can tell that Haemon has feelings for Antigone since he is
trying to defend her against his father but Antigone doesn t have the same feelings for him. Another
reason to why Haemon was the peacemaker in the play is because he threatened his father that if
anything happened to Antigone he was going to kill himself and his father didn t take him seriously. I
would say that the lesson is to not hold any grudges against people who are trying to make an unjust
thing into a just thing and to also not be stubborn. To also be flexible and be willing change your
decision if other people don t agree completely with you.
4. The Greeks would consider Antigone more virtuous than Creon because she is breaking a law and is
willing to die for her brother while Creon is letting the animals eat his body and scatter the bone far,
far away. The Greeks would not see Creon as virtuous because the sentence given to Antigone is
devastating, sealing her in a vault where she will forever stay until she dies. Antigone values family
more than anything else, unlike Creon who values the obedience of his people more than having
mercy on someone who is trying to make the unjust into just by defying the law of the king. Even
though Antigone

Globalization Makes Society Better
Globalization benefits society as a whole because it expands markets, increases profits, creates new
jobs and has also lifted people in poor countries out of poverty.
According to Robert O Brien and Marc Williams globalization in terms of liberalization is:
the removal of restrictions to cross border flows, such as the elimination of trade or investment
barriers (O Brien and Williams:27).
Globalization has also transformed the way the world is viewed today. As technology has improved
the production of goods are made faster and cheaper as well as the transportation of goods. As you can
see in the global division of labor, certain countries specialize in different things. For example, in the
automotive industry, different parts are made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though the manufacturing and agriculture industry have declined in the United State due to
globalization, it has produced growth in other industries. Scheve and Slaughter also argue that the free
movement of trade and capital has also benefited countries such as China and India because it has
removed millions of people out of poverty. How is globalization bad? If markets are expanding, new
jobs are being created and people are being lifted off from poverty.
Globalization has also increased competition among countries by removing regulation laws that are
undermining corporations to increase profit as well the faster and cheaper production of goods. For
example, a country that has strict labor and environmental laws will engage a Multinational
Corporation to move to a country that have these laws set at a bare minimum; this is because they
want to gain as much profit as possible with low production costs. This is where the term race to the
bottom comes into play.
Spar and Yoffie define race to the bottom as
the progressive movement of capital and technology from countries with relatively high levels of
wages, taxation, and regulation to countries with relatively lower levels (Spar

Wuthering Heights Childhood
The presentation of childhood is a theme that runs through two generations with the novel beginning
to reveal the childhood of Catherine and Hindley Earnshaw, and with the arrival of the young
Liverpudlian orphan, Heathcliff. In chapter four, Brontë presents Heathcliff s bulling and abuse at the
hands of Hindley as he grows increasingly jealous of Heathcliff for Mr. Earnshaw, his father, has
favoured Heathcliff over his own son, my arm, which is black to the shoulder the pejorative modifier
black portrays dark and gothic associations but also shows the extent of the abuse that Heathcliff as a
child suffered from his adopted brother. It is this abuse in childhood that shapes Heathcliff s attitudes

Rejection In The Grapes Of Wrath
By not being accepted by those who were closest to them, Joseph and Jesus were able to make a
difference in the lives of many more people than if they had not gone through the extra steps rejection
took them.
Rejection does not feel good. Often times, rejection is a lonely place. Rejection caused Joseph to
become a slave and a prisoner. He lived in a pit and he was left in prison for several years on more
than one occasion. While in each of these places, Joseph never forgot his dream. Joseph was faced
with being called a liar and a rapist but he never forgot his dreams. I am certain that Joseph did not
understand what was going on or why his dream was not coming to fruition but he never gave up.
While in prison Joseph still exercised

Gangs in Prison Essay
Introduction
Prison gangs are originally formed by inmates as a way of protecting themselves from the other
inmates. These gangs have turned out to be violent and thus posing a threat to security. This paper will
have a look at the different gangs in prisons, their history, beliefs and missions, and the differences
and similarities in these gangs.
The Aryan Brotherhood
The Aryan Brotherhood started in 1964 was founded by Tyler Bingham and Barry Mills who were
white supremacists and Irish American bikers. It started at the San Quentin state prison. The prison
group was created to protect white prisoners from the black inmates. The cause changed into revenue

The Black Guerrilla Family
The Black Guerrilla Family was started in the year 1966 by W.L. Nolen, Lester Jackson, James Carr
and other racist who were black in the San Quentin state prison in California. The founders adopted
the militia structure and ideology of the Symbionese Liberation Army. The gangs were started so as to
unite the black prisoners and get rid of a violent uprising. This uprising was believed to be from a
racist prison administration that was white. The gang attracted thousands black American offenders,
and was listed for a number of staff assaults and the murder of Marin County judge in 1970. Its
territory is in California and some selected areas in the United States. It also has a paramilitary kind of
structure. It has around 50,000 members. If one wants to join the gang, one has to be black and must
be nominated by an existing member. They have a symbol of a dragon that is attacking a gun tower of
a prison. This gang is still growing in most of the American prisons with some of its members outside
the confinement.

Brovs Vs Romanovs
On the absolutist side you had the leaders of Spain, France, and Russia all laying claim on their areas,
and they were saying that they had absolute power and answered to no one besides themselves and
God.Then, in England there was constitutional side where there was a leader who was either voted in
or was born in to play. In England, the leader most commonly came from a royal line. The difference
in England was that the king didn t have the absolute power or say. Most events would be put up for a
vote where the parliament would have a say in what happened as they were the financial backers. In
the absolutist monarchy the disadvantage was with the peasants as they got little reward while the
biggest advantage was with the king. Take for example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

an absolutist monarchy by being in control until 1917. In a constitutional monarchy one could say a
great advantage came in that normal people had a voice. In comparison, there is the absolutist
monarch who doesn t take anyone s vote while the constitutional monarch will hear from the
nobleman what one may hear from the peasants. Charles I felt the true strength of parliament when he
needed financial backing, and the backing would only be given when he agreed that parliament would
have a vote in ordinary taxing and unfair imprisonment. The parliament itself was made up of
nobleman as well as landowners and merchants who all wanted a say in that the parliament couldn t be

Tasmanian Devils are small marsupials that possess rat like features such as sharp teeth, black or
brown fur and are roughly 20 to 31 inches tall. These creatures possess poor temperament, growling,
baring teeth and lunging when provoked or under threat. Because of their aggressive behavior, they
are solitary creatures, only interacting with one another during the mating seasons of March. They
give birth to up to 20 young during this time, however the female as only four teats, meaning only four
of the imps can survive. The general lifespan of a Tasmanian devil is 5 6 years, and within that time

Many scientists have expressed their own opinions, but none have been found to be officially accurate
on the matter. Many researchers including A M Pearse, K.Swift, after much research, came to the
conclusion that DFTD spread through Allograft, the means of cancerous cells spread from one animal
to another through physical interactions such as biting, fighting or mating. This process of spreading is
much like that of a transplant, and once the cancer cell has entered the devil s body, it develops the
mechanism to go through and resist the attacks of the immune system. For this particular reason, a
proper vaccine as not been discovered yet and the Tasmania devils have no actual cure to save them
from this widespread disease. The Allograft theory has not been confirmed to be the case yet as it does
not apply to the rules of normal cancerous cells and diseases sparked from those cells. However, once
more information regarding this cancerous disease has been established, scientists can work towards
finding some form of medical treatment for the devils. Having said that, more scientific mechanisms
to save the devils has been proposed, including one of which may be what saves the Tasmanian
Devils. In recent years, an authorized project known as the Maria Island Devil Translocation has taken

species. The Maria Island project, which started in 2012, is a rehabilitation program that selects both

Vertical integration is where firms in a company are working at different stages but on the same
production path . For example Disney own Walt Disney studios, Sky walker sound, Disney digital post
and Touch stone pictures. All of these companies will work on the same production but only in the
area they are equipped for. For example the new Stars Wars film, Walt Disney studios will work on

The World Of World History
Glimpse of World History, features a span of perspective of the world as it develops throughout time
to where it was presented. Nehru, while in prison, tried to find a bond with his daughter. In order to
connect to the outside world and be close with his daughter, he decided to share his vast knowledge of
the world through letters with his daughter. Nehru explores how time chases, how civilizations grow
and prosper, and how different leaders shape the world in negative and positive view points and in
many other ways. Nehru wants his daughter and ultimately others reading his book to have an open
mind to the different perspective.
A theme that stood out to me is that men are greedy and only look out for their own well beings. I
agree with Nehru that people will always try to exploit each others weakness. People are so self
centered that they forget that their decisions impact more than themselves. Whatever you do will
shape history as you know it. It is a problem that some say the past generations were better that the
current generations. The reason for that is because it s like as time goes on we get worse or go
backwards instead of improving ourselves.
Another point to add is when people are content with what they have and with the current situation
that they are in, they refuse to think beyond the circumstances . I agree with a powerful statement that
Nehru made, Fresh waters run on, and if you stop it, it becomes stagnant. People tend to go with the

Lise Meitner s Fission Research
When men claim the glass ceiling was shattered with Rosie the Riveter, I can t help but laugh. The
structure is transparent to them, by its very nature. They see women struggling beneath the barrier but
attribute it to a lack of work ethic or skill set, instead of a societal ill. Qualified women are demeaned
by men when they encounter roadblocks, ones they never had to face. Gender based discrimination no
longer prevents female suffrage, but norms and socialization encourage male superiority. It is the duty
of women who succeed to cultivate future female success. I firmly believe women can lead change in
any field, but too often their achievements are ignored or underplayed. Lise Meitner s groundbreaking
fission research was passed over, the Nobel Prize presented to her colleague instead. Textbooks

Everybody loves to have a donut every once in a while. It s a tasty desert that nobody can deny;

While if the producers were to depend on producing round donuts, the donut box would not be
completely filled at the corners, leaving empty spaces at the corner and between two consecutive
donuts. The percentage increase in the amount of donut found per donut suggests as well that it is
better for the producers to make square donuts, which in this case benefits the consumer as well. One
thing that must be taken into consideration when finding the volume of a square donut is that the
corners of this donut are not perfectly edged, which means that even though it fits into a rectangular
box better than a round donut, there are still very minimal empty spaces that are not covered.
Overall, my aim in this experiment is to prove how it will be efficient to produce a square donut and
depend on it, because it will be a new trend that everyone wants to try, there will be more dough per

Equifax Data Breach
An analysis of the Equifax and Yahoo data breach
Introduction
A recent increase in large scale data breaches has exposed a multitude of cybersecurity vulnerabilities
that pose a definite risk to consumers (Lorio, 2017). In some cases, a data breach can distress an
establishment so much that other organizations experience a backlash from the repercussions (Kosseff,
2011). The Equifax data breach of 2017 is a perfect example of this kind of event as it caused an
overwhelming economic repercussion that affected other major corporations and more than 143
million credit card customers worldwide (Janakiraman, Lin, Rishika, 2018).

The findings described in a report prepared by the Office of Senator Elizabeth Warren list several
reasons for the Equifax data breach. The report states that Equifax had a defective cybersecurity
system in place to mitigate data security (Franke Ruta, 2018). This included deficient patch
management practices, inadequate end point email monitoring, a weak network segmentation
structure, insubstantial credentialing procedures, and fragile logging methods (Franke Ruta, 2018).
The warning came in an attack on the Apaches Struts application software used to protect consumer
data in the Equifax cybersecurity systems on May 13, 2017 (Franke Ruta, 2018). However, Equifax
did not notice signs of the malicious activity until July 29, 2017 (Franke Ruta, 2018). Officials at
Equifax emailed staff members asking them to repair the weakness in the system, yet they did not
follow up on the request and confirm the repairs (Franke Ruta, 2018). Because the company failed to
patch the Apache Struts vulnerability, command injection attacks occurred that allowed an

Jean-Jacques Rousseau s The Mission
The Mission, a film set in 1507, reflects on a Jesuit mission settlement, torn apart by Spanish and
Portuguese government. With the papacy caught in the midst of this turmoil, conflicting ideas of
injustice and moral sense drive the message of the film. In connection to the Enlightenment, an era of
new philosophical ideas from the 1400s up until the 1600s, Jean Jacques Rousseau s ideas of
individuality, human nature and corruption are best represented through the films.
As a philosopher in France, Rousseau focused heavily on human nature and what led human beings to
change. From innocence to malice, Rousseau believed people became corrupted by society; their
impure actions resulted from societal expectations. In one of his works, Rousseau ... Show more

He felt that people lived too naively, listening to everything Church and state told them was right and
obliged. He says, ...in the midst of so much philosophy, humanity, and civilization, and of such
sublime codes of morality, we have nothing to show for ourselves but a frivolous and deceitful
appearance, humor without virtue, reason without wisdom, and pleasure without happiness. () To him,
government expected everyone to present themselves as copies, with little room for originality and
individuality. Those in positions of power had crooked values, only wanting to benefit themselves.
Because the government was power hungry and constantly feening for more land and power, they held
too much control. In the film, as the Cardinal visits the missions, he sees their beauty and falls in love
with their complexity and peaceful structure. Even though he sees the good in the missions and
understands that they protect and convert Indians to his religion, he feels as if money is more
important. Caught in the middle of a dispute between the Spanish and the Portuguese, the Cardinals
tears peaceful living apart, all for an expansion of territory. Rousseau had caught on to the game the
Church and government played, he urged people to speak out. One of the most corrupt figures in the
film was Don Cabeza, a slave only. Yearning for more land and riches, Don Cabeza actively tried to

The Brigadier General Ephraim Bracha Affair
Yet another development has surfaced in the Brigadier General Ephraim Bracha affair . Following
information revealed on Sunday, the Ometz movement petitioned the High Court today demanding
that it order the Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein to explain why it does not address the suspension
of Bracha from his post as commander of the National Fraud Unit and why it does not address open a
criminal investigation against him. The petition was filed by attorney Avinoam Magen of the Ometz
movement, who argues that the evidence and the evidence found by the PID require an overt
investigation against Bracha. Furthermore, Magen stated, suspension should be ordered, in addition to
a complete overt investigation. There can be no dispute that the police

Gentrification And Income Inequality
The classism that gentrification brings into communities cannot be understated, simply because it is
one of the negative driven byproducts of it, because when individuals are forced to see homes in their
respective communities go for 2 to 3 times the market value for what they were previously going for,
it sends the message that those within a higher income bracket are able to dictate the set prices in real
estates. Furthermore, this financial inequality goes beyond just the housing market. Areas that have
seen the wholesale installment of the businesses that stem from gentrification are often overlooked
and not taken in consideration when it comes to the prices set by them. It is almost as if these

Business Plan: Starting an Independent Record Label Introduction First of all I am setting down the
employees of Les Incompetents™ . There are three of us: The Label manager (who is responsible for
running the label), an A R (the talent scout who mentors the artist through to final recording) and a
business developer (who is responsible for the business deals). Although every one of us has a specific
title, being a small independent label, we all work on every issue. The funding of the label came from
our personal funding (representing 85% of our funding). I, the head of the label brought 55% of the

The contract can be found at the end of the document, Appendix A. So we own the copyright in the
recordings for a minimum of five (5) years. RECORDING The album will be recorded at Urchin

without letting go of the quality side. They are operating with Strokes producer Gordon Raphael. As
past clients they have had Emmy The Great, Skin, Jeremy Warmsley, Transgressive Records. We will
operate on a daily fee of £200 for a 9 hour day inclusive of all equipment and engineer; we have to
look at problems such as overtime which will cost us £30 per hour or such as additional cost hours
after 9pm which are at engineer s discretion. It would be lovely to work in Pinna Studios
(www.pinnaproductions.com) but much more expensive. Lately these studios have seen the likes of
the Kills, Razorlight, MTV, Endemol but the costs are much higher so they will be hopefully used as
future reference. Just to se the differences, their daily rate is 350£ all services included but only for an
eight hour day. Another solution would be recording the album in Paris as the Band is French at
studioras (http://studioras.free.fr/). They are a new studio and the daily costs would be 28O€ with
engineer for an eight hour day which roughly represents 220£. I thought that recording was going to

The Amber Room Three hundred years ago, there was a great treasure, which was built by human
hands. It is called the Amber Room. Art experts from Germany said it should be the 8th wonder of
world due to its beauty. History, when recorded, is evidence that shows that the past actually
happened. However, the Amber Room did not have the fate to stay in a physical form and became one
of the interesting mysteries of the century. Many researchers are interested to discover the mystery of
the Amber Room, however the mystery is still under the veil of mystery. It is because of misplacing

walls out of 20 walls of the Petersburg Winter Palace. Queen Zarin thought the Winter Palace was too
spacious for the Amber Room and therefore relocated the Amber Room to the Summer Palace. The
Summer Palace room was perfectly fit for the Amber Room because the Summer Palace Room was
smaller in size and would make the Amber Room stand out and look even more amazing. Now the
Summer Palace of Zar is also called The Catharine Palace in honor of Queen Catharine I. Later
Catharine II chose the Amber Room as her favorite place. Therefore she gave the order to the
architect, Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, and his team to do some additional pieces for the Amber
Room. Bartolomoe was born in Italy, and he was the major architect of the Russian Winter Palace and
Catherine Palace. Bartolomoe added 24 large mirrors that were placed between the 12 Amber panels.
The Amber Room originally came with 3 doors. Above the 2 main doors, there was a wooden

Essay On Interracial Dating
Interracial and Cross Cultural Dating of Generation Y Interracial romance has been an issue in the
United States since the first English settlers established colonies during the seventeenth century. Over
the years, views toward interracial relationships in America have changed greatly. The interracial
dating trend among today s teenagers is increasing at a steady rate (Grapes 49). However, there are
still many biases facing Gen Y youth who choose to date someone of another race. A look at the
history of interracial romance in the United States will shed light on today s attitudes.
In the 1600s, Maryland banned interracial relationships between whites and slaves due to the
questions over whether the offspring would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On one occasion, the man was mobbed and nearly lost his life (Landau 3).
Even decades later, white society seemed determined to prevent interracial romances in most
instances. A variety of obstacles were used to prohibit these relationships. Many social scientists in the
past focused on the supposed pathological aspects of the interracial relationship, and they assumed
that anyone involved in such a relationship must be disturbed in some way. In one case, a young white
woman s grandmother had her placed in a mental institution after the young woman announced her
engagement to an African American (Landau 5). When a young black man named Leroy Gardner
enrolled in Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1943, he had to sign a formal agreement
promising not to socialize with the white females on campus. Social scientists have observed many
justifications for black white relationships, such as the need to rebel against parents or society; a
passion for the exotic or forbidden fruit, the blacks desire to get even with the dominant culture, or
whites desire to atone for past racism (Majete 10).
In 1967, Loving v. Virginia cleared all legal barriers to interracial marriages and relationships. This
legislation made it legal to marry interracially, but many people weren t willing to accept these
relationships. For instance, in 1994 a white principal named Hulond Humphries caused uproar at
Teaneck High in Wedowee, Alabama that caught the

Attachment Styles Influence Relational Patterns Between A...
Attachment styles influence relational patterns between a married couple and their children. These
attachment relational patterns known as anxious, avoidant, and secure base styles are a product of the
interactions experienced in early childhood with their caregivers. It affects people s
intercommunication with others all through their life span. Individuals attachment style involves a
systematic pattern of relational assumptions, emotions, and behavior that develop from the subjective
constructs definitive of attachment experiences throughout their lives. Negative relational patterns
increase the likelihood of marital violence in the home. When experiencing stress related life issues,
conflicts may arise due to substandard communication skills leading to physical violence,
aggressiveness, resulting in harsh spousal disputes. A positive upswing in marital and family harmony
occurs when healthy communication skills develop along with secure based attachment
characteristics, such as, humility, gratitude, and forgiveness of self and others. These characteristics
provide coping mechanisms that establish a positive self identity and healthy social interaction with
others. As the anxious and avoidant relational styles exercise these positive characteristics, in time,
they develop a positive view of self and others while learning to work through life stressors, which
benefit the marriage and family. Introduction Relationships between marital couples and children

Essay on Fear in Cellar Stairs
Fear in Cellar Stairs
Poetry is about emotion not only the emotion displayed in the many layers
of a poem s language, but also the emotional layers created in the reader.
Some poetry can be light and happy, other poetry can be ecstatic and ethereal;
and at the opposite extreme, poetry can be dark and downright threatening. Such
a poem is Cellar Stairs by the contemporary poet Thomas Lux.
It s rickety down to the dark, states the first line. The poem starts out with
an image of darkness, compounded by the feeling of instability ( rickety ). The
lack of any physical room or area leaves us feeling disoriented and groundless.

But we are still
afraid.
Lines five through nine describe the normally harmless objects that reside on the shelf.
This time, though, the objects are dangerous. Everything has an edge the shears, the weed
hacker, the ice pick except the poison, which can kill both kinds of vermin, rats and
bugs (6 7). A triple threat, the shelf: we can be poisoned either of two ways or stabbed.
The landing, normally a safe area on any flight of stairs, is also trapped: the keg of
roofing nails that beckons your face to slam into it (8 9). This describes another level
of emotion, as well. We have progressed from being afraid of the dark to being scared for
our life. The specific threats have been identified and we are under attack.
Lines ten through eighteen become globally symbolic of torture, while maintaining the
chilling level of personal threat. The fuse box goes from a damning symbol of sin (the
slot machine gambling is a sin) (11) to a symbol of death (the switch for the electric
chair that the warden pulls ) (12). The author speaks of the boots, singular, on every
stair, alone (14 16). The dead left them there, short legged on their way down to the
Hell at the bottom of the stairs (16 17).

Scott Vlasek Case
The Client This project allowed me to work with Scott Vlasek, Director of the Aviation Institute (AI)
of the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). Mr. Vlasek first arrived at the AI in 1995 as a student
working towards becoming a professional pilot. However, Mr. Vlasek soon found out that, due to
color blindness, he would never be able to pursue a career in professional aviation. It was at this point
he decided to make a career in some sort of leadership position in the aviation field. Upon receiving
his undergraduate degree, Mr. Vlasek accepted a position as a graduate assistant in the program while
working on his Master s of Public Administration (MPA) with an aviation concentration. He
mentioned that he always thought he would end up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The AI is a relatively small group within the larger organization of the College of Public Affairs and
Community Service (CPACS) at UNO. As a separate department within CPACS, the AI offers two
tracks of study for undergraduates: aviation administration and professional pilot. Making up the AI
are five faculty members responsible for teaching the core courses, two full time staff members, three
graduate students and simulator instructors. On the surface, the AI appears to be a typical department
nestled within a larger collegiate system, however, there is some qualities that make the AI unique.
The most important distinction is the flight training program. This is because of the various
stakeholders that are involved with flight training. One of the key stakeholders is the Federal Aviation
Association (FAA). The FAA heavily dictates the ground and flight training curriculum. There is a
specific list of standards and training time that must be met in order to reach compliance, and in
addition, the AI prepares for an annual inspection by a designated principle operation inspector (POI)
who ensures compliance. This poses a challenge for the AI being that the requirements set forth by the
FAA do not always lend themselves to the traditional collegiate structure. In addition to the FAA, the
AI works with two independent flight schools that are contracted to provide service for the students of
the AI. Each flight school is a separate business with a separate organizational culture, yet they partner
with the AI students who are in pursuant of their flight certificates. Finally, on the airport
administration side of the AI, there is an equal amount of external stakeholders made up of
organizational leaders and alumni that assist in the development of the aviation administration

The Importance Of Advertising And Marketing
The main goal of advertising and marketing is delivering the right message to the right person at the
right time. Having a strong an e commerce brand is vital for an e commerce business to be successful.
Marketing and advertising is almost as important as a brand. A major part to branding is how the
message is delivered. Advertisers have new and ingenious ways to get their advertising messages to
the consumer. Using the world wide web, social medias sites, display ads, video advertisements along
with mobile technology will increase visits and earnings to any e commerce site.
The number one way for e commerce sites to advertise is the world wide web. A website is a major
tool for launching the initial connection with a consumer. Google for example, is a major source of
online advertising. This site alone has over 3.5 billion searches per day and 1.2 trillion searches per
year worldwide. To get an idea of companies advertising on the internet, there are close to one billion
websites on the Internet (Internet Live Stats, n.d. c).
Another ingenious way for an e commerce site to advertise is social media. Utilizing social media as a
marketing and advertisement involves promoting the brand and images directly to the consumers that
results in sales and services directly. With over 1 billion members, Facebook has a membership equal
to one sixth of the global population.
Mobile technology marketing and advertising tools involve the use of displays, banners, ads, search
engines,

Theme Of Prejudice In Pride And Prejudice
In contrast, Mrs. Bennet views the same subject oppositely. A lady s imagination is very rapid; it
jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony in a moment, (Austen 35). She wishes her
daughter to become the matter of the society s interest, and bask all the external glory. The marriage
with Mr. Darcy tickles Mrs. Bennet s thought into associating it her daughter s life with fame. There is
no evidence of her concerning about Elizabeth s emotional assurance toward the marriage. Oh! My
sweetest Lizzy! How rich and how great you will be! What pin money, what jewels, what carriages
you will have!...Ten thousand a year! (Austen 535). In a period where a divorce was inconceivable, he
had no choice but to deal with his own mistakes. Prejudice is a risky act that disables one s ability to
distinguish the truth.
True love arises when one eliminates the pride and prejudice. Throughout the novel, it was rare to
pinpoint a couple, who married out of true love. Both males and females were in a constant
suppression by the societal standards. The rare exception is Elizabeth and Darcy. Initially, neither of
Elizabeth nor Darcy were moral. As the story progressed, they gradually dismissed one s ill habits
pride and prejudice. In case of Elizabeth, she experienced a life changing moment, going inside out.
At the ball, Elizabeth had a one dimensional judgment. Her interaction with Darcy was highly
dependent on prejudice. It became furthermore intense as George Wickham s ill rumours supported
her poor judgment skills. She was not able to be filter the information she percieved through Wickham
in a deeper level. She only relied on the external elements, such as what she heard and saw. Darcy, on
the other hand, was drowned in arrogance, and also believed in the reliability of prejudice. At their
first meeting Darcy bluntly commented on Elizabeth s appearance.``She is tolerable; but not
handsome enough to tempt me; (Austen 13). Accordingly, Darcy s narcissism offended Elizabeth,
causing her to develop a stronger feeling of hatred. It was only when Darcy broke the distorted wall
between them, and approached her with a pure letter. The letter, composed of Darcy s honest reflection
on his internal life, enlightened

  • 2. A Brief Note On Arthritis And Its Effects On The Body Jacob Hunnicutt MED 2047 Gouty Arthritis Instructor: Michelle Earixson Lamothe 3/16/15 VNFT031 Gouty arthritis, more commonly known as gout, is a very painful condition that primarily affects the joints especially those of the great toe, ankles, wrist, and fingers. Gout is most commonly seen in men, particularly those between the ages of 40 and 50 (Bradford, 2014 ). Gout is not a disease that is new to society; it has been around for centuries. The first recorded incidence of gout was in Egypt in 2640 BC, to the Egyptians gout was called podagra (Nuki, 2006). Gout is highly linked to one s diet and in history gout was known to affect the affluent population more than any other. Humans are the only living organisms that seem to have the problem of gout. The reason this is so is most likely due to the fact that in other organisms, such as reptiles, fish, dogs, have an enzyme, uricase, that is responsible for the breakdown of uric acid. The leading cause of gout is due to the ineffective metabolism of purines. When purines are ingested in the body it is converted into urate. Gout leads to hyperuricemia, which is high blood uric acid levels. For a person who ingests a normal and balanced amount of purines, the body is able to handle it and filter it out of the body via the kidneys. If a person has a decreased function of their kidneys their chances of getting gout, alongside many other things, significantly increases. The kidneys are responsible for ... • 3. Writing Out Notes And Homework On A Computer With technology s new advancements, students are getting their homework done a lot sooner than they used to by writing their notes out on the computer instead of on paper. Is getting homework done faster worth having to study longer later? Writing out notes and homework by hand has more educational benefits than typing notes and homework on a computer. Various studies have proven that writing notes have a variety of benefits that exceed those of typing notes on a computer; retention rate, distractions, and higher grades. In an experiment done by Mueller and Oppenheimer, students were instructed to take notes, some students did so by hand, others by laptops. Afterwards, they were given a test on what they took notes on. Students who wrote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The results were that those who took the standard class had considerably higher marks than those who took the hybrid class. Those in the hybrid course earned an average of only 69.2% while the students in the lecture earned an average of 77.9%. According to the researchers, students in the hybrid course were less engaged with the material than those in the traditional section. (Adams) This is why they believe that those who took the standard class were more successful in earning better grades than the other students. In a different study by Robert Williams and Allan Eggert, Notetaking aids one s ability to recall noted information and do well on exams related to that information. This is why it is so important for students to take notes in class. When you write out notes in class while the teacher is talking, you are forced to listen and summarize the key points of the lecture because writing notes are significantly slower than typing the notes. When students take notes on computers, they generally tend to type exactly what is being said instead of focusing on why it is important. When these students go back and read their notes, they don t have a decent conceptual understanding of what was written beforehand. COnsequently, these students need to spend more time studying to get the same results as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mephastophilis Quotes Mephastophilis is a great substance to Marlowe s play. With being a servant to Lucifer, Mephastophilis enlists people willing to pledge their souls to the Devil. With Dr. Faustus, Mephastophilis convinces Faustus to pledge his soul for years worth of necromantic magic. The dynamic character he is, Mephastophilis is sympathetic towards Faustus, has the sophistication, and provides Faustus with a clear image of Hell. Mephastophilis befriends Faustus and gains his trust, this friendship gives Mephastophilis the guarantee that Faustus soul will end up in Hell. Mephastophilis manipulates Faustus s feelings towards God. In his first appearance, Mephastophilis reveals that he s forever a servant to Lucifer and must do nothing without his master s permission. In scene three line 47 49, Mephastophilis states his intentions about collecting souls for the devil. For when we hear one rack the name of God, Abjure the scriptures, and his savior Christ, We fly in hope to get his glorious soul . All he wants to do is enlarge his master s kingdom. • 5. Race, Class and Gender Franklin (1987) also alluded that patriarchy did not serve black men; the notion of black men being domineering over groups is questionable. Besides, Pleck (2008) claimed that the male heterosexual homosexual dichotomy is used as the main symbolic tool defining the rankings of masculinity. Highlighting racial politics, it would be interesting to have a study focusing on the power relations between white gay men and black heterosexual men. This is premised on the stance that the racial hierarchy, regardless of its dismissal, seems to continue to characterise socio economic relations. ???? stated that race remains a factor because it is deeply embedded within the subconscious, a discussion on this shall follow suit. McClintock (1992: 5) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Erasmus (2008) stated that apartheid discourse merged race, class, culture and nation together. While MacDonald (2006) argued that apartheid is rightly perceived as racism, it was also racialist. Racialists view race as a source of identity which marks difference between human beings. They regard identities as axes of political institutions and then urge states to be organized on the basis of race. Whitehead and Barret (2001) stated that in white supremacist contexts, black masculinities play symbolic roles for white gender constructions whereby whiteness and white men and women are the norm and blackness is the Other. Seekings (2008) buttresses this viewpoint as he argued that apartheid was a system aimed at ordering society and explicitly according to racial categories and this was achieved utilizing state power and its apparatuses. Apartheid entrenched radicalized identities and fostered racial division at the same time as exacerbating inequality in the distribution of income (Seekings, 2008: 5). Seekings (2008) also cited that the apartheid regime had three broad objectives. The first one was ideological in effort to maintain racial purity; policies prohibiting inter racial marriage were formulated. Residential segregation was also enacted as part of this endeavour. Another objective cited by Seekings (2008) is that apartheid was utilized to establish and maintain economic privilege for the white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. How I Taught My Friend Essay My friend Ling asked me to help her with her English pronunciation at the beginning of this year. I tutored her for two weeks and we did not have very official tutoring time; so mostly, we communicated in English and I corrected her whenever I spotted a mistake. She is a Chinese girl who comes from Chengdu, and she has problems producing some of the sounds. For example, she always pronounces six as sex , which ultimately made her come to me since it kept embarrassing her. I first taught her some basic pronouncing rules, and then we began the spotting then correcting session. After reading Wiggins (2012) article about feedback, I think the way that I taught my friend was to have her learn from the feedback. For example, one day when we were in Mexico City, we were talking about how to make her pronunciation better. So I taught her the two sounds different tongue positions in the mouth. Then she became better but there were still times she mispronounced them. I told her to be careful with these sounds for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some NFL players will plead not guilty and win, or plead no contest and get put on probation, they could get suspended and they will play again. He pleaded no contest and got put on probation and suspended for one game. He then thought about his decisions and is now playing for Seattle. For these reasons, NFL athletes should never be banned from football for bad choices because jail and community service is enough. When NFL players make a bad decision and they still get to play it gives athletes a platform for second chances. There are an estimated twelve active players with domestic violence arrest. One for example is Brandon Marshall. He has three charges and served a three game suspension for personal conduct violation. But from there on his story changes. Brandon Marshall got treatment and then decided to be an outspoken voice against domestic violence and is now a success on and off the field. As a result, when NFL players make a bad decision and they still get to play it gives athletes a platform for second chances. The Susie Scenario Essay For most people, anxiety is something that occurs occasionally throughout their lives such as, right before a big meeting, presentation, tests, or a simple medical procedure. Other people are facing challenges daily due to anxiety; some are diagnosed while others are not. Anxiety includes, distressingly unpleasant and maladaptive feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and physical reactions. Students with anxiety often worry about their competence, even when they are not being evaluated (Durwin, 467). In this circumstance, Susie feels over stimulated due to her need for perfection; inevitably causing her to fall behind on assignments. Someone with severe anxiety splits their attention between their anxiety and the task, instead of focusing solely on the assignment. This is made apparent through Susie s lack of assignment completion. She is going through something known as the vicious cycle. Essentially, Susie becomes fixated on a specific part of her assignment which distracts her from completing the full project, leading to a poor grade and disappointment from Susie; causing more anxiety and another incomplete assignment due to the lack of focus. Therefore, Susie cannot perform at the optimal level. A simple task as mentioned earlier, notetaking; provides everyone with a tolerance for a higher arousal level. Notetaking is something that can be performed with less thought, effort, and stress which allows someone with anxiety to partake in the activity more easily. Provided that Susie s main problems are anxiety, disorganization, and perfectionism; it is important to design a modification plan that will reduce these symptoms and create an environment that is more conducive to her learning. To begin, an educator can use the shaping method, inclusive of a cognitive behavioral treatment and token economy, as a way to control Susie s disorder. Shaping involves reinforcing small steps that move toward the behavior until the entire behavior is displayed (Durwin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

More specifically, the compound is methylpridinium. The antioxidant isn t present in raw, green coffee beans, but is actually created during the roasting process. How much coffee is enough? Research has shown that people who drink one to two coffees a day have half the risk of developing liver cancer when compared to people who didn t drink coffee. Meanwhile, drinking 4 to 6 cups of coffee can reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes by as much as 50 percent. However, despite the reduced risk for these diseases and other cancers, like oral, esophageal, and pharyngeal cancer, doctors don t recommend you start drinking 10 cups a day. Coffee is still a stimulant and a diuretic and if drunk in excess can cause heart problems, anxiety and possible dangerously elevated blood pressure. Can I get these antioxidants from other sources? • 11. Nacl Affects on Enzymatic Reaction Essay The Effects that 1%, 4%, and 16% Sodium Chloride (NaCl) Concentration Had on the Rate of Reaction of Catecholase Enzymes in a Potato (Solanum tuberosum). Abstract Enzymes are a key component of a cell. They make chemical reactions happen faster because they lower the activation energy to make the chemical reaction occur. Most of the time, it is best if enzymes produce as efficiently as possible, but in some cases it is better if they do not, when dealing with potatoes (Solanum tuberosum). If the catecholase enzyme of the potato is hindered, it is less likely to brown when it is cooked. To see how efficient sodium chloride is at slowing down these enzymes, the experiment measured the rate of reaction when the enzymes were exposed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are three factors that will alter an enzyme: temperature, pH and salt. All three will change the structure of the enzyme by denaturation and rendering it useless when a drastic change occurs from levels that are normal. A slight alteration can speed up reaction to certain saturation or slow the process of reaction. Enzymes have a substrate: the substrate for the catecholase enzyme is catechol and oxygen. When the substrate combines with the catecholase enzyme of a potato, the product is a reddish brown color called benzoquinone. This product is what turns fruits and vegetables brown (Briggs and others 2010). Therefore, slowing or stopping the process of would increase shelf life of some food, or at least make the foods appearance appetizing much longer. The equation for this chemical reaction is: Enzyme Substrate Product Catechol + Oxygen Catecholase Benzoquinone The hindering of the Benzoquinone could alter the production, and could lower the cost of produce. Nathalie Santis and others (2005) preformed an experiment to see the effects of various NaCl solutions on thin slices of potato that were fried. The potatoes were sliced 3mm thick and 30mm in diameter, fourteen slices in all. All fourteen were blanched at 70°C for five minutes. These unprecedentedly large ships were built in Belfast, Ireland, in the shipyard of Harold and Wolff for the White Star Line company. The Titanic and her sister ships were built 269.1 meters long, 28.2 meters wide, 53 meters from the keel to the top of the funnels, and weighing in at a whopping 46,000 tons (Felkins, Leighly Jr., Jankovic, 1998). On April 2, 1912, The Titanic finally sets sail to Southampton, England, where it was to start its maiden voyage to New York. Finally, on April 12, 1912, Titanic commenced its infamous voyage. Man will take anything if it can result in something positive. In the novel, Heart of Darkness, leaving civilization can lead to depravity, furthermore creating corruption amongst the company in the Congo. Throughout the novel, depravity is a key element in people and the company, constructing exploitation. In Conrad s novel, he uses the literary elements of figurative language, symbolism, and Biblical allusions to demonstrate the theme of human depravity when removed from civilization. The relationship between Antigone and Ismene is close because they are both sisters but at the same time their relationship isn t that strong. One of reasons they are foils to each other is because of their disagreement about burying the body of their brother Polyneices. Antigone already knows that she is willing to die to let her brother rest in peace but Ismene on the other isn t on her side, instead she doesn t want to help Antigone because she want to face the consequences that come with burying Polyneices. Haemon s role in the play is to be the peacemaker, as he questions his father s decision on punishing Antigone for putting her brother to rest. You can tell that Haemon has feelings for Antigone since he is trying to defend her against his father but Antigone doesn t have the same feelings for him. Another reason to why Haemon was the peacemaker in the play is because he threatened his father that if anything happened to Antigone he was going to kill himself and his father didn t take him seriously. I would say that the lesson is to not hold any grudges against people who are trying to make an unjust thing into a just thing and to also not be stubborn. To also be flexible and be willing change your decision if other people don t agree completely with you. 4. The Greeks would consider Antigone more virtuous than Creon because she is breaking a law and is willing to die for her brother while Creon is letting the animals eat his body and scatter the bone far, far away. The Greeks would not see Creon as virtuous because the sentence given to Antigone is devastating, sealing her in a vault where she will forever stay until she dies. According to Robert O Brien and Marc Williams globalization in terms of liberalization is: the removal of restrictions to cross border flows, such as the elimination of trade or investment barriers (O Brien and Williams:27). Globalization has also transformed the way the world is viewed today. As technology has improved the production of goods are made faster and cheaper as well as the transportation of goods. Globalization has also increased competition among countries by removing regulation laws that are undermining corporations to increase profit as well the faster and cheaper production of goods. For example, a country that has strict labor and environmental laws will engage a Multinational Corporation to move to a country that have these laws set at a bare minimum; this is because they want to gain as much profit as possible with low production costs. Many researchers including A M Pearse, K.Swift, after much research, came to the conclusion that DFTD spread through Allograft, the means of cancerous cells spread from one animal to another through physical interactions such as biting, fighting or mating. This process of spreading is much like that of a transplant, and once the cancer cell has entered the devil s body, it develops the mechanism to go through and resist the attacks of the immune system. For this particular reason, a proper vaccine as not been discovered yet and the Tasmania devils have no actual cure to save them from this widespread disease. The Allograft theory has not been confirmed to be the case yet as it does not apply to the rules of normal cancerous cells and diseases sparked from those cells. However, once more information regarding this cancerous disease has been established, scientists can work towards finding some form of medical treatment for the devils. Having said that, more scientific mechanisms to save the devils has been proposed, including one of which may be what saves the Tasmanian Devils. Nehru explores how time chases, how civilizations grow and prosper, and how different leaders shape the world in negative and positive view points and in many other ways. Nehru wants his daughter and ultimately others reading his book to have an open mind to the different perspective. A theme that stood out to me is that men are greedy and only look out for their own well beings. I agree with Nehru that people will always try to exploit each others weakness. One thing that must be taken into consideration when finding the volume of a square donut is that the corners of this donut are not perfectly edged, which means that even though it fits into a rectangular box better than a round donut, there are still very minimal empty spaces that are not covered.
