Sports Employee Retention
Volunteers are unpaid, free participation in the organisation in order to gain benefit to others,
environment and their self. (Hoye, 2008) Volunteers are the important and valuable part in many
aspects of the society. (Bang Ross, 2009) In addition, volunteers are an initial part of sports service
delivery and sports event management. (Giannoulakis et al., 2007) Cnaan Goldberg Glen (1991,
p.270) noted that volunteers enable administrators to sustain current services and expand both the
quantity and diversity of services without exhausting the agency s budget. In order to make the
event be successful, volunteers are the indispensable part of the event.
As Cuskelly et al. (2006) stated that between 8.2% and 10% of Australians and about 15% of the
English population are participating in sports volunteers. In regard to volunteered time per year,
Australians contributed 98 per volunteer per year as well as English volunteers are 208. (Cuskelly et
al. 2006) Therefore, sports organization and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, it will lead to the high cost of recruitment and training (Pauline, 2011) so that
understanding of how to retention of sports volunteers is very crucial to sports organisers and
organisations. In terms of retention of sports volunteers, three elements were identified such as
motives, meaningful work and satisfaction. (Hoye, 2008) Many researchers have been investigated
the relationship between motivation, satisfaction and retention in other countries but a little
research about this in Hong Kong. Furthermore, this type of research in other countries may not
apply in the situation of Hong Kong because of culture difference. As Hofstede (1994) indicated
that Masculinity is high in Australia as well as Hong Kong in a middle position. This difference may
result in the different motivation of sports

There were major problems that hindered the progress of the Yuma Project: Major flooding

Brazil s Independence Of Brazil
The people of Brazil gained independence from Portugal on September 7, 1822, and became
known as the Federative Republic of Brazil. With European, African, and Indigenous peoples
influences, Brazil has become a melting pot of ethnicities, religions, and cultures. It is made up
of 26 states and has a total population of 205,823,665 people. The two largest ethnic groups are
White at 47.7 percent and mulatto (mixed white and black) at 43.1 percent of the population. Most
of the population lives on the east coast, specifically the cities of Sao Paulo, Brasilia, and Rio de
Janeiro, and they live under a federal presidential republic government. The official language of
Brazilis Portuguese, but there are less common languages spoken such as Spanish, English,
German, Italian, and other Amerindian languages. The average age is 31.6 years old, and the
gender ratio is relatively equal throughout each age group. The birth rate is 14.3 births/1,000
population, and the death rate is 6.6 deaths/1,000 population. These statistics produce a population
growth rate of 0.75%. Surprisingly, 90% of the population has some religious association. There are
many different religions in Brazil, but the two largest religious groups are Roman Catholics that
make up 64.6% and Protestant that make up 22.2%. Other religions consist of Judaism, Buddism,
and Jehovah Witnesses (cia.gov, 2016).

Public Administration And The Public Sector
Old Public Administration was created to answer the questions to many unanswered problems.
President Woodrow Wilson said it was harder to run a constitution than to frame it because of the
difficult administrative tasks had to deal with. Sure enough, he was not the only person who felt
that way. President Wilson believed that in order to run an effective government, ideas from the
private sector should be incorporated into the public sector. He even went as far as to give input on
how the government would be able to implement ideas from the private sector to the public sector.
And that is to limit what hierarchical organization can do. Wilson believed that those in power
would not have control of creating the policy, but they will have a handle on how the policy is
implemented. Two themes stood out around the topic of Public Administrationthe distinction
between policy and administration, and the accountability of elected individuals who are a part of
an organization. The second theme was around the use of structures and strategies to ensure that
managementwork efficiency.
Many had much to say when it came Wilson s statement that Policy and Administration should be
separate entities. A few people argued that policy and administration could not be separated because
policy and administration depend on one another to work effectively. Frederick Taylor, a theorist
believed that in order to enforce efficiency within an organization, a scientific management

Whiplash is a film written and directed by Damien Chazelle. The film is set in New York City
and follows the story of Andrew Neiman, played by Miles Teller, a young man who wants to
pursue to be one of the greatest musicians in the 20th century like Buddy Rich. To help Andrew
attain his dream of becoming an elite musician, he enrolls at a musicschool where one of the top
music teachers in the business, Terence Fletcher, played by JK Simmons works. He is also the
composer of an elite student band, whose competition performances are seen by some of the top

He ends up moving his bed and brings in a drum set where his bed use to be. What follows is
Andrew practicing intensely in his room. He s practicing, trying to find a proper pace to play
while trying to play faster at the same time. It becomes so intense that his hands start to bleed.
Even after his hands were bloody and in pain, he continued to practice until he was exhausted
and both his drumsticks and drum set was covered in blood. This scene represents what it takes
for a novice performer to become an expert performer through the general models of skill
learning that is divided into three theories. The theory of deliberate practice by Anders Ericsson
is a vastly planned activity where the overt objective is to improve performance. Explicit tasks are
created to conquer weaknesses and help present signs for ways to progress it further. As stated in
class, deliberated practice is the type of practice that is effortful, purposeful, and not inherently
enjoyable. Individuals are prompted to practice because their performance improves. In addition,
engaging in deliberate practice does not create instant rewards and significance associated with
access to teachers and training atmospheres. However, Ericsson states becoming an

Remember The Alamo Symbolism
Remember the Alamo, Remember the Alamo! This is the cry repeated in remembrance as Sam
Houston s army of 800 men swept through Houston Texas to take revenge for the lives sacrificed
in the devastating defeat of Alamo. This sound was the emblem of respect throughout the States,
but also around the globe for the leadership and sacrifice displayed in this stand of valor. During
the Texasrevolution in 1836, the Battle of the Alamotook place, as a last standing defense and hope

This cry was repeated in honor of the shattering loss of the Alamo for Texas independence. The
Alamo was an emblem of leadership and sacrifice displayed in a stand of fearlessness. Though
under provisioned in all areas in men, in food, in arms, and especially in protection the men
standing in defense of the Alamo resolved to give their all and sacrifice their lives to secure
Texas independence. Despite their courage, bravery, and greatest efforts, the Alamo was a
demoralizing loss to both Texas and to the nation. In retaliation to this crushing overthrow, and
the loss in valor, Sam Houston and his army took revenge for the souls slain and the lives given
in defense of the Alamo in the following battle of the Runaway Scrape. Though outnumbered by
Santa Ana s army almost 6 1, Sam Houston and 800 men, each filled with reprisal, swept through
the Mexican army and slayed almost the entire force in a matter of nearly 18 minutes. Though
vengeance was taken and independence secured, nothing would fill the void of the souls lost in the
Alamo. The Alamo was and is a symbol: It is an icon of resistance and determination, of
generations past, and more importantly, to the generation of today s nation. It was the leadership, it
was the will, and it was the sacrifice of the Alamo, which gained true independence for Texas.

Comparison Between Merce Cunningham And Martha Grahame
The world of contemporary dance is one that is constantly developing and pushing the boundaries
of what makes dance more than just movement. However, it is questionable that it would be in this
diverse state if it was not for a few revolutionary choreographers. Along with Martha Grahame is
could be argued that Merce Cunningham was a pioneering, revolutionary choreographer who
questioned given standards and procedures creating the diverse contemporary style that we know
today. Revolutionary can be defined as something radically new or innovative; outside or beyond
established procedure and principles (Dictionary.com, 2017). In order for something to be
revolutionary it has to be in relation to something else, this is certainly true for Cunningham s

Ulyssess Grant Pros And Cons
Ulysses S. Grant Hiram Ulysses Grant was born on April 27, 1822, in Point Pleasant, Ohio. Born
into a middle class family, he was the first son of Jesse Root Grant, a tanner and businessman, and
Hannah Simpson Grant. A year after his birth, his family packed their bags and moved to
Georgetown, Ohio. Here Grant spent the majority of his childhood, one he deemed uneventful. The
son of an outgoing father and reserved mother, Grant took after the latter, characterized as shy in
his childhood. He was abhorrent toward the idea of taking over his father s tannery business, a fact
his father slowly came to realize. So rather than inheriting his father s business, Grant was arranged

Often times he seemed bewildered, looking to Congress for direction. As one visitor to the White
House said he possessed, a puzzled a pathos, as of a man with a problem before him of which he
does not understand the terms. Though quite honest, Grant had a knack of appointing people who
were not morally sound. Although he was successful in pushing through the 15th Amendment,
Ulysses S. Grant s double term was dominated by scandals and dishonor. After his retirement
from presidency, Grant encountered, again, hardship in his civilian life. He co owned a financial
firm with Ferdinand Ward, only to have his partner embezzle investors money. The firm went
bankrupt in 1884 along with Grant, and in the same year he was informed he was suffering from
throat cancer. After such disappointment and grief, Grant partnered with a friend named Mark

Hill Attack Schurz Summary
In Schurz s report he talked a decent amount on the treatment of slaves. He was talking about how
the terror against any colored person was definitely still going on. Schurz talks about how black
people were being; kidnapped, maimed, killed, and have been disappearing (M.P. Johnson pg.4).
The treatment was not going to get better because the southern whites have an ingrained feeling
that the blacks at large belong to the withes at large... (M.P. Johnson pg.5). He s pretty much saying
that the black peopleare still being looked down upon by the whites in the south. This ties in with
how Hill and many of his family were being treated. For example, Hill talks about how one night,
people came knocking at the door of his brother. These people were no other than the K.K.K.
They were looking for him and bludgeoned his sister in law to get the information about Hill s
whereabouts. When the woman couldn t handle the beating, she told them where Hill was. They
grabbed Hill out of his wooden shed and started to beat him, until one of the members started
talking. They threatened Hill and beat him some more before they left him alone. This was the
terror that newly freed slaves were facing, and the terror Schurz was talking about.... Show more

How I Enhanced My Citation Skills
The semester has been a learning experience and an adjustment. The Gender Bending in Rock, Pop,
and Hip Hop course was an eye opening and informative experience. It not only taught me about
gender bending, various talented artists, and styles of music but also a multitude of writing
techniques and elements. These writing elements have helped me further strengthen my writing
ability. There are two elements that I have found to be extremely helpful throughout numerous
writing assignments are citations and supporting paragraphs. In this essayI will talk about how I
enhanced my citationskills, learned the power of supporting paragraphs and can pass the knowledge
onto others.
To have a strong impact on a reader and really cause them to think, change their minds, or learn
something new, as the writer, it is important to have strong supporting paragraphs. This was
something that I had previous knowledge of before it was discussed in class. Supporting
paragraphs are used to help the reader get the point that is trying to be made. They provide the
thesis with the supporting evidence that it needs. The thesis is the road map and the supporting
paragraphs are the pit stops along the way to the final destination. Each pit stop, has an adventure
making the overall journey a true learning experience. I applied this concept to my own work
when writing the research blog. The goal of my blog was to inform people about some
misconceptions of feminism and what feminism is. The

Princess Diana As A Hero
Princess Diana is considered to be the most favored member of the Royal Family in the history
of the British Monarchy (biography.com editors 1). She is the former wife of Prince Charles, and
the mother of Princes William and Harry. Her charitable work with impoverished children has
formed her reputation as a role model for the people of Britain and much of the world. Much of
Dianas life has been devoted to traveling the world to help others. Her work in Africa with the
children injured by landmines brought her into the global spotlight (Wexford 3). Princess Diana
was more than just a public figure and royal, she was a loving person who brought light to social
issues and cared for those who are destitute. A hero, as defined in Webster s Online Dictionary, is
a person who a person admired for achievements or noble qualities or one who shows great
courage. However, a hero is not just a person with outstanding achievements. A hero is a person
who is philanthropic, generous, and kind. Heros fight for those who cannot fight for themselves,
and do not judge those who they are fighting for. They are charitable in ways other than donating
money, they give their time and effort in order to make the lives of others more pleasant. Heros
display bravery, as they are willing to go into a dangerous situation to help others that have been
aggrieved. Social pressures and judgements do not affect a hero s willingness to help others, and
they are willing to push through what others say

Our Lady Of Guadalupe Summary
Our Lady of Guadalupe is one of the most popular sacred icons in the hemisphere. Elizondo

Elizondo visited the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe at Tepeyac in Mexico City, the enforcement
of Spanish rule of Mexicos Aztec Empire, and the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupeto Juan

When Elizondo finally arrived at Tepeyac he felt like everything was sort of in slow motion and

to meeting her. The apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe will tell the people more about church
and God than what they had guessed. She, like Jesus, is absolute human but also absolutely divine.
The greatest thing about the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe to the natives was the fact that
she was not some statue or image, she was a person that looked like the natives, spoke their

important that her apparition was just a conversation and nothing more complex than

Electronic Commerce ( E Commerce )
The development of new technological innovations, such as the Internet, has brought on changes
for the market. The Internet offers a world wide network, which connects millions of individuals
and businesses and creates a global marketplace with huge business opportunities (E business,

communication tool to reach consumers at any place and at any time. This also enables consumers
to search and gather information about products and services online. The word e commerce refers

Thus, there is a need for promoting trust and confidence on the Internet. For consumers, security
and privacy issues are seen as barriers to shopping online (Windham Orton, 2000). They want
their identity and personal information to be confidential, due to fear of being exposed to online
fraud (Petrovic et al., 2003). People are more willing to take risks with people or organizations
which they trust. The potential risk in e commerce is greater because of the anonymity, distance
and lack of physical interactions (Cazier, Shao St. Louis, 2006). Many elements of personal
interaction that are used in the offline environment, for example, facial expression, gesture and
body language, are lost or not applicable in an online environment (Grabner Kräuter Kaluscha,
2003). Many consumers appreciate the real shopping experience of touching things and trying
items on. So, in order to understand why people do or do not engage in e commerce activities, it is
important to study online trust (Cazier et al., 2006).
Trust is an essential tool for a transaction to take place, both in an online and offline environment. In
e commerce, the Internet vendors as well as their websites can be trust building sources in
themselves. So, it is important for companies to learn how to manage consumers trust in e
commerce. Although, building consumer trust on the Internet is a challenge for online vendors.

Cesar Chavez Elegy
Great people are what make this world a better place just like these people I am going to write

Cesar s death and what the people did after his death. Another story is an informational text

and what they did during the fire. Both of these people made a big impact however I think Cesar
Chavez made the bigger impact because he didn t just bring attention to the problem he did
something to fix I think the people in the triangle fire made a lesser difference in the world
because they didn t do as much a Cesar Chavez did but the world wouldn t be the same without
them. One reason I think they did a good thing for the world is, Onlookers saw many dreadful
sights, none so more than the end of a love affair. [Marrin,13] This shows that the people watching
might of said something to fix the problem. Another quote is, Those who reached the ninth floor

One s socioeconomic and educational level is an important factor in the longevity of this aging
population s existence. Greene County is a relatively poor community with only 11.3% of
individuals holding a B.A. or higher degree of education (Stats, 2014). The ability for self pay or
likelihood of one in this age group having private health insurance is decreased. Therefore, the
financial burden for this age group falls back on government agencies in the form of Medicare
for qualifying older adult or the older adult fails to seek medical attention due to the lack of
funding. People 65 and older make nearly twice as many physician office visits per year than
adults 45 to 65. However, an estimated two thirds of older people are unable to understand the
information given to them about their prescription medications. (AMA, 2014) According to the
CDC, by 2030, 71.5 million adults aged 65 years of age or older will be living in the United

Research Paper On Baldness
Baldness is a common occurrence among men. It is typically regarded as something normal and
not indicative of any kind of health condition, although it may cause psychological distress in the
affected. However, scientists have discovered positive correlations between baldness and several
pathologies. Male pattern hair loss, as it is formally known in the medical realm, affects at least
50% of men in old age. Its causes are believed to be largely genetic. Recent studies have finally
shed some light on the genetic underpinnings of the condition, revealing several complex
relationships with other diseases and innate traits.
Shortness and baldness
According to scientists at the University of Bonn, Germany, short men are more likely to
experience hair loss prematurely. They studied the genetic material of more than 20,000 men from
around the world. Slightly less than half were bald men. After analyzing the data, the team of
scientists led by geneticists Dr. Stephanie Heilmann Heimbach and Prof. Markus Nöthen
discovered that prematurely bald men carried 60 genomic alterations. These genetic signatures
meant that prematurely bald males are more likely to undergo puberty earlier, to have small body
size, and to develop several types of cancer (including prostate cancer). Associations between bone

In order to accumulate emergency funds, several tips I need to take into account and apply them
in my daily life. First, I need to set up an automatic deduction from my paycheck that goes directly
to saving account. By doing so, it will allow me to forget and ignore the deduction amount and only
focus of the remaining of my paycheck. Second, eliminate any impulse buying that could affect my
paycheck (Allebrand, C). Third, maintain a spending book that would help in keep recording of my
spending to eliminate any overspending. Fourth renegotiation almost everything, from internet bill,
phone bill, asking for discount on stores to even asking for less interest rate on credit card and
reduction on insurance rates (Peterson, L).
However, most employers provide health insurance, which is part of the premium, is paid by
employees. So, having health insurance is mandatory to avoid any risk of high cost of medical
expenses. Medical cost is expensive and it can hurt me financially if health problems arise. Also
renter insurance is important as well since for at least 7 10 year I ll be living in rental apartment.
Renter insurance will allow me to insure all my personal belongings in case of fire or burglary.
Auto insurance is mandatory since almost everywhere is required to get auto insurance, which it
is a wise choice in case of accidents. When it comes to life insurance I think it s too early to get

than the second metatarsal. Metatarsals are the bones that attach to the toes or known as
phalanges. Individuals often mistake Morton s toe of the second toe being longer than the first,
but it is actually the second metatarsal that is longer than the first metatarsal; therefore, the
second toe seems longer than the big toe. Morton s toe was discovered and named by Dr. Dudley
J. Morton who was a physician, orthopedic surgeon, researcher, and author in the 1920 s ( Fehrs).
It could also be referred to as Morton s Foot Syndrome and Greek Foot. ... Show more content on

It is congenital meaning it is present at birth. Also, Morton s toe may be caused when the first
metatarsal bone is abnormally short compared to the second metatarsal bone and when the first
metatarsal bone has more motion, which means it is unstable. This instability is known as
Hypermobility of the First Metatarsal Bone (Schuler). Additionally, Morton s toe can be simply
recognized without an X ray. Some symptoms are more noticeable than others. For instance, if
one looks at his feet and notices that his second toe is longer than the first, he has Morton s toe.
If the space between your first and second toe appears to be deeper, not wider, but deeper than
the space between your second and third toes, you have Morton s Toe ( Morton s Toe ). An
individual can also detect Morton s toe by holding down his toes and finding bumps where the
metatarsal bones end. He will mark the location of the bumps and compare the lines. The first
metatarsal bone is shortened if the line for the second toe is closer to the leg than the line for the
big toe ( Morton s Toe: Symptoms and Treatments ). Excess skin between the toes is another
possible sign for Morton s toe. More symptoms of Morton s toe include pain in areas of the foot to
the neck, callus formation, and musculoskeletal

The Failure To Obey The Law
The law is a system of rules that govern the people in the country or community making them
responsible for their actions. Failure to oblige by these rules is punishable, and a penalty is
always enforced on the people who do not obey the law. The law also consists of the procedures
that should be followed for the people to live responsibly and also what should be done on those
who do not follow the rules. As provided in the U.S Constitution under the Eight Amendment, a
bail consists of the amount of money that a defendant should pay in order to be released out of the
custody until the day of his or her trial. The bail is not used as a punishment to the defendant. The

People mostly have a right to bail except capital cases in 40 state constitutions. There are a few
reasons why bail is significantly important to a defendant. First, it gives the individual time to
wait for their trial outside the jail cell. Without bail, the defendant would have to await their trail
but stay in jail for a number of months. It wouldn t seem fair for someone to spend time in jail if
they are presumed not guilty in the near future. Second, bail gives the defendant time to spend
with their lawyer, so they carefully prepare for the upcoming trial. Statistically, people generally
are convicted and sentenced more when they don t make bail compared to the ones that do make
bail (Lippman 2015). Families with a low income suffer the most because they may not have
enough to pay 10 percent fee. Most importantly, bail gives the individual time to spend with their

European Economics Since The Single European Act
If the Euro fails, then not only the currency fails... Europe will fail, and, with it, the idea of
European unity. Merkel s words preclude the diminishing consensus within European Union, no

This was meant to create a spill over into other, weaker areas of the economy, helping all who

The Issue Of Paper Mill Closures And A Bad Reputation For...
Paper, Pollutants, Politics, and Precaution
The paper industry here in Maine is struggling with mill closures and a bad reputation for being
wasteful or bad for the environment. The issue of paper mills being an added stress to the
environment is not unique to Maine. Mills in Wisconsin are also very wasteful, producing toxins in
the air, soil, and water. In one river in Wisconsin, two hundred fifty thousand pounds of sediment is
said to have been contaminated with manufactured organic chemicals used by the paper mills
(Environmental Impacts of the Paper Industry, 2016). The Environmental protection agency has
become involved in the issue by estimating the movement of about one hundred sixty thousand
pounds of sediment from that river to adjoining lakes, river, and bays (Environmental Impacts of
the Paper Industry, 2016). Restricting access from these locations would be pointless if a natural
disaster occurred, possibly washing the contaminated soil to populated areas (Environmental
Impacts of the Paper Industry, 2016). Not only does the paper industry s chemical waste enter the
water systems, it also enters the air. The particulate matter entering the air includes carbon dioxide,
nitrous oxides, sulfur dioxides, carbon monoxides and particulates. These contribute to ozone
warnings, acid rain, global warming and respiratory problems (Environmental Impacts of the Paper
Industry, 2016). The paper making process also consumes huge amounts of energy, drawing from

Disneyland is one of the businesses that need to deal with culture changes all the time.
Disneyland has opened to North America, Latin America, Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong since
1955 (David 2006). However, Disneyland suffers a big loss in Paris while reaches a big success
in Tokyo. How could this happen? Disneyland has considered demographics, geographic and
customer behaviors into strategy making for Paris, but it did not provide alcohol in theme park
in the country where drinking wine for lunch. Disney invested money to set up grand hotels for
visitor without thinking about that Europeans visit Disneyland only for day excursions (Barnett
Cavanagh 1994). By contrast, Disney in Tokyo designed Cinderella s Castle Mystery Tour for
Japanese specially and provided part time and full time jobs which were suitable for Japanese
employees instead of inflexible working hours in Paris. It can be seen that Disney s failure in Paris
was caused by resistance of American views . Thanks to the good understanding of culture
differences, Disney got a success in Tokyo. Accordingly, Disney should attach strong importance to
learning the culture in the place to which it want to expand. 1.3 Cultural Considerations Disney

Essay on Environmental Economics and Government Policy
Economists often talk about letting the economy work through the mechanism of the free market
versus government control and regulation. Some believe that if the market is allowed to do its
thing unprohibited and without government interference, then resources will be allocated
efficiently, equilibrium will be found, and so on... However, this is not always possible. Of course,
government controlis not perfect either. Thus, it would seem that at times the market may be more
appropriate than the government; other times the government may be needed because the market is
not able to function properly; and other times a combination of the two working in unison may
provide the best and most effective and efficient answers.

Property rights that would lead to efficient allocations have four main characteristics: universality,
exclusivity, transferability, and enforceability. Universality is when all resources are privately
owned and the entitlements are specified. Exclusivity refers to the fact that all benefits and costs
due to owning and using the resource should be directed solely at the owner. Transferability refers
to the fact that all property rights should be transferable from one owner to another in voluntary
exchange. And finally, enforceability simply means that all property rights should be secure from
involuntary seizure by others. With all of these in place, one would certainly use a resource
efficiently because a decline in the value of the resource would represent a personal loss.
Furthermore, individuals will only buy as much of something so that the marginal cost is equal to
the marginal benefit that they receive from purchasing it. And thus, with these defined property
rights in place the market indeed would prevail.
Environmental problems are one important class of circumstances in which the market economic
system is not always efficient. This occurs most especially because of the presence of externalities,
and the fact that the agents making the decisions do not bear

Suicide And Stereotypes
Over the past several decades, suicide has been a topic of great concern amongst researchers and
psychologists who continue to see a rise in the number of annual suicides. According to the
National Institute of Mental Health, suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the United
States. However, it is the third leading cause of death among individuals between ages 10 14 and
the second leading cause of death among 15 34 year olds (Piscopo 2). Just over the last forty years,
suiciderates for all ages have been on a steady incline, which has pushed researchers to investigate
possible causes. Particular attention has been paid to the possible influence news and television
coverage of suicide may have on the general populous. The theory that media stories can cause a
spike of imitative suicides is known as The Werther Effect, obtained from the belief that Goethe s
novel The Sorrows of Young Werther
in 1774 triggered an increase in the number of suicides,
leading to its ban throughout Europe (Gould 1269). Since then, there has been extensive research
into the way suicide is portrayed in the news, on television, in plays, music literature and social
media. In more recent years, researchers have found a strong relationship between suicide
portrayals in newspapers or on television and a subsequent increase in suicide rates (Hawton 1374).
However, one form of mass communication that has not been properly investigated is suicide
portrayals in fashion advertisements. Today, the

Four Dimensionssions Of Film Sound In The 1960 s Film Psycho
Answer 1:
There are four dimensions of film sound that can be found in this clip from the 1960 s film Psycho,
these are rhythm, fidelity, space, and time. When directing this scene Alfred Hitchcock had to make
a lot of decisions regarding sound in it. Each of these choices has different implications and will
affect the audience differently.
Let s start with fidelity, I believe Hitchcock purposely implemented a lot of fidelity in this scene. I
think he used common and familiar environmental sounds in the background while Marion was
completing mundane tasks before entering the shower. This is apparent when Marion ripped a
piece of paper out of a notebook, tore it up, and then flush it down the toilet. Hitchcock chose to
allow the audience to hear these sounds for a few reasons. First, it provides the viewer with a more
complete experience. Second, it keeps the viewer s attention more present because the scene is
more realistic and natural. Lastly, Hitchcock used these sounds as the camera followed Marion to
the shower, this allows time and action to continue smoothly over a series of shots making the
temporal duration rhythmic.
Next is space and how sound affects the viewer s perspective of it. While in the shower the loudest
noise is the water falling, after a few seconds the viewer gets used to the tranquil sound of the
water falling. By making the sound of the water so loud it makes the viewer feel like they are
close, maybe even in the shower. Loudness is related to

Importance Of Friendship In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The Epic of Gilgamesh is an epic of friendship, death, and immorality. Gilgamesh was arrogant and
selfish, who abused his power as a ruler. The friendship between Enkidu and Gilgamesh changed
the mindset of Gilgamesh and the way he treated people for the better. Gilgamesh met his perfect
match when Enkidu came along, Enkidu was half man half beast, but looked and was strong like
Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh began to change his personality when he realized he isn t the only strong
warrior anymore. Enkidu is the hero in this epic poem because he helped Gilgamesh to alter his
cruel ways as a leader. Enkidu and Gilgamesh are the epitome of the saying, opposites attract.
Enkidu and Gilgamesh needed each other, and it showed towards the end of the epic when Enkidu
passed away.
Enkidu was as powerful and mighty as Gilgamesh. In the epic, Enkidu says, At these words
Enkidu turned white in the face, I will go to the place where Gilgamesh lords it over the people, I
will challenge him boldly, and I will cry aloud in Uruk, I have come to change the old order, for I
am the strongest here (The Epic of Gilgamesh, 122). Enkidu initiated the rivalry, but when he
faced Gilgamesh, he lost the battle. The Gods created Enkidu to challenge Gilgamesh to change
his presumptuous ways as leader. The epic poem states, When Enkidu was thrown he said to
Gilgamesh, There is no not another like you in the world. Ninsun, who is as strong as a wild ox
in the byre, she was the mother who bore you ... So Enkidu and Gilgamesh embraced and their
friendship was sealed (The Epic of Gilgamesh, 123). The fight allowed Gilgamesh to embrace
Enkidu as a warrior, thus, allowing them to become friends. They went on many adventures
together, Enkidu gave Gilgamesh advice on their journey but always stayed with Gilgamesh, even
if he thought it was a bad idea.
Throughout the epic poem, Enkidu and Gilgamesh grew closer and closer together, their
friendship turned deeper, and they acted like they were brothers. The epic states, Because of my
brother, I am afraid of death, because of my brother I stray through the wilderness. His fate lies
heavy upon me. How can I be silent, how can I rest? He is dust, and I too shall die and be laid in the

Difference Between Renewable And Non Renewable Energy
Renewable vs non renewable energy
Energy comes in the form of renewable or non renewable energy. Renewable energy resources
include wind, solar, water, biomass and geothermal. These resources are some of which will not
run out because they are natural resources of the earth. Solar energy comes from the sun, wind
energy from the wind geothermal from deep within the earth and so on. Non renewable resources
are fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gases. These cannot be replaced so eventually we will
run out and have to rely on renewable energy. Non renewable energy makes up 86 percent of
Australia s energy with the other 14 percent being renewable energy. 73 percent of Australia s
energy is using coal while, 13 percent is natural gases, 7 percent is hydropower, 4 percent is wind,
2 percent is rooftop solar and 1 percent is biomass.
There are a few major advantages with non renewable energy. There are plenty of fossil fuels,
such as coal, oil and gas in Australia so this means they are a relatively cheap fuel and readily
available. Australia has enough fossil fuel resources to last for years. Also very large amounts of
electricity can be generated from fossil fuels. Non renewable energy is cost effective and easier to
product and use. According to National Geographic, there are reservoirs of non renewable energy
sources throughout the world. However, there are some disadvantages to non renewable energy.
Fossil fuels are non renewable and will eventually run out because

College Essay On Paying College Athletes
Paying College Athletes
Many people believe that college athletes should be paid for how much revenue they bring to their
school. However, there are also people who think they should not get paid because they already
have numerous advantages that other students do not have. Student athletes at the Division 1 level
that play men s basketball and football should not necessarily be paid a salary but should be able
to make money off of their accomplishments, especially if we hold them on a high pedestal as we
do now. It may seem unfair only to pay those who play men s basketball and football, but the
reason why these two sports are the most reasonable is that they bring in the most revenue for the

Because of this, they say it would provide an unfair advantage to the other students if these
athletes get both a free education as well as get paid at the same time to play a sport (Yankah).
Others say that they are just kids and do not need that kind of financial pressure at such a young
age. Furthermore, athletes should not be paid because there just is not enough money in the
school, and there would be an uneven pay between sports based on general revenue (time). People
even say that if the NCAA were to pay athletes, it would take away from the importance of an
education and these players would not take their education seriously(lemmons). All these reasons
and much more support why college athletes should NOT be paid. However, there are just as
many points to argue why they should be paid. First of all, college athletes at the Division 1 level
spend more than 43.3 hours per week to his sport which is 3.3 more hours than the average
American work week (Edelman). Secondly, while the NCAA claims these athletes are just students,
the NCAA s tournament schedules require college athletes to miss classes for nationally televised
games that bring in revenue (Edelman). Thirdly, the play of teams and players can help bring in
more students to the school. For example, the year that Boston College quarterback Doug Flutie
won the Heisman Trophy as the nation s outstanding college football player, Boston College s

sociological behaviour by looking at the patterns created by individuals that commit crime. The

According to Becker deviance is a consequence of the application by others of rules and
sanctions to an offender . Becker came to the conclusion that people are criminalised through the
process of negotiation, known to be social constructionism for example the Crown Prosecution
Service may drop the charge of murder to manslaughter if there is not enough evidence to
convict for murder. By doing this the defendant becomes labelled for the crime of manslaughter
even though he may truly be guilty of murder. By introducing what could be regarded as petty
legislation more people will be labelled criminals, which in turn may lead the offender to act
further on this basis. Lemert referred to this as secondary deviance as when a person is labelled
criminal they change their view of themselves and this then becomes their master status . On the
other hand primary deviance is when someone violates a social code, but does not get labelled.
Therefore a person is only labelled a criminal if he is caught and since ethnic minorities are subject
to much more scrutiny than the white population this puts black people at an automatic
disadvantage. Following the inquiry into the death of Stephen Lawrence it was uncovered that the
police are institutionally racist. Institutional racism can be defined as the collective failure of an
organisation to provide an appropriate and professional service to the people

have helped America in more ways than one and it would have been great to have seen what he
would have accomplished. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald on

approached to question him. He was arrested for killing Officer Tippet and it was not until later
JFK 5 that he was linked to the assassination of Kennedy. He claimed he was innocent on the
accounts of shooting both President Kennedy and Officer Tippet. On November 24, 1963 Oswald
was shot and killed by Jack Ruby. There are theories that Ruby shot Oswald because Ruby didn t
want Oswald selling him out if they were accomplices in the assassination (IMDb.com, Inc., 2008).
There are witnesses that can testify that they saw a man fire a weapon from the sixth floor of the

Morality In Antigone
Uniqueness is a feat all on its own. Oftentimes, many feel as though they will be judged or
ostracized from society for being different from others. In Antigone, a play written by Sophocles,
the main protagonist encounters opposing forces that try to cease her chances of morally
accomplishing an honest and just deed. Antigone, the main protagonist, is left to essentially fend
for herself against the woes of society and their beliefs. As Antigone refuses to comply, revelations
are made about herself and others that contribute to the morals and ethics of the conflicts made.
Morality plays a significant part in the play; it is emphasized greatly by Antigone as she attempts
to bury the body of her brother, Polyneices. She emphasizes her reasons

How Did Alexander The Great Influence Hellenism
Hello, my name is Kavauri Mckinnon. Today i will be writing a report on Alexander the Great.
More specifically, his influence on Hellenism. To give a brief insight on what Hellenism is, it is
the culture of ancient Greece. This term can be traced back to the Hellenistic period. The
Hellenistic period is a the time between the death of Alexander the Great and the annexation of
the classical Greek heartlands by Rome. Speaking of Alexander the Great, I believe I should start
this off by describing exactly who he was. Alexander the Great was born on July 20, 356 B.C., in
Pella, in the Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedonia. During his reign as king, from 336 to 323
B.C., he united the Greek city states and led the Corinthian League. He also became... Show more

Lysimachus had the areas of Thrace and much of Asia Minor, Cassander received Macedonia and
Greece, Ptolemy seized Egypt, Palestine, Cilicia, Petra, and Cyprus, and Seleucus took control of
the rest of Asia. Hellenic influence continued to spread throughout the lands ruled by the generals
and Greek dedications, statues, architecture and inscriptions have been found in abundance in every
locale. Greek language introduced Greek literature into the former Persian Empire, thereby
influencing the philosophical thought and writing of the region. The Great Library at Alexandria,
Egypt, which is said to have been started by Ptolemy I, became the most important center for
learning in the ancient world. Greek theater flourished throughout the lands conquered by
Alexander and the amphitheaters built during the Hellenistic Period show markedly Greek features
no matter the nationality of the architect nor the country of construction. The spread of Greek
influence and language is also shown through coinage. Portraits became more realistic, and the
obverse of the coin was often used to display a propaganda image, commemorating an event or

Analysis Of Liverpool
Original piece
Liverpool were back in premier league action for a mouth watering clash against an always
entertaining Arsenal side. Surprising news broke before the match which meant that current first
choice Simon Mignolet had been dropped or Rested in the words of Liverpool manager JГјrgen
Klopp replaced my Loris Karius.
And when team news was announced the always nervous looking Karius entrance was confirmed
as one of only two changes made by the Liverool manager, who also introduced Joe Gomez for
Nathan Clyne. Goals were expected at Anfield where the Reds supported the Owen McVeigh

However the full flowing Salah did finally find the net when he bolted on to Joel Matip s clearing
header, ran the length of the pitch, and slotted coolly into the bottom corner for a magnificent
break away goal which gave the Reds a two goal lead at the half time.
Sadio Mane had a massive chance to end the contest once and for all with 25 minutes remaining, but
the Senegalese saw his finish battered off the line as it was heading in the net. A phenomenal fourth
did arrive seven minutes later, when substitute Daniel Sturridge joined was in on the act, heading
home Salah s pin point cross only minutes after coming on.
With Arsenal by now well and truly deflated, the Reds then saw out the last 13 minutes untroubled
to earn an important and crucial victory at Anfield . It was a sensational performance from the
Reds, and one which saw a third straight win recorded over Wenger s side for the first time since
1997.

The Curse Of The Poisened Pretzel Analysis
In the story, The curse of the poisened pretzel, the author develops his point of views in many
ways. He does this without actually stating that Skidmore is guilty. There are many rumors
about why they think he killed his brother and this is why. One of the most promising rumors is
the fact that skiddmore was extremely jelous of his older brother. The majority of the reasoning
behind this is the fact that he was allergic to bubble gum and he saw his older brother flaunting it
as an insult. The fame and riches it brought made the ordeal even worse. Another reason that
people think Skidmore killed his brother was because he wasnt as liked by everyone. His older
brother was a very well liked man that everyone loved. Unlike his bro he gave people

Sallie Smith s Anti-Mexican Sentiment
We cannot speak about anti Mexican sentiment without first knowing what it is. The Anti Mexican
sentiment refers to the dislike from the Americans for the people considered to be of Mexican
descent; A type of racism of sorts. The Confederate Flag is said to be part of this movement, even
targeting Mexican culture in a speech revealing it in 1861 given by Sallie Smith in Marshall, TX. In
this speech Smith made statements calling Mexicans dastardly and demonic . Sentiments did not
actually begin in the United States. It was something started in England for those against people
who were Spanish and Catholic fueled by false assumptions of the actions of Latin America.
Americans received word of what had been established in England the decision had been made to
carry the same thought, deeming those with Mexican culture with accents as such to be evil and
less pure than those without. A land who worked well together at one point, the United States and
Mexicohad become at war with each other. Much different from present day, it was the Americans

citizens learning to speak the Spanish language and adopting the ways of the Mexican culture.
Rules were not followed, and with Americans out numbering Tejanos the settlers of Texas instead

Difference Between Endothtermic And Exothermic
The goal of this experiment was to preform a series of reactions to determine the change in
temperature that which would conclude whether the chemical reactions were endothermic or
exothermic. The original hypothesis was that each of the reactions, except for the reaction between
solid magnesium and hydrochloric acid, would be endothermic, and the remainder would be
exothermic. This hypothesis was disproven during laboratory experiments to conclude that each of
the reactions were exothermic except for the reaction between water and ammonium chloride which
was endothermic. In Table 1, the heat of solution data collected from ammonium chloride and
sodium carbonate are indicative of how acid base and dissolution reactions yield certain results. The
reaction between ammonium chloride and water is a dissolution reaction in which ammonia and
hydronium is produced from the breaking of ionic bonds in ammonium chloride from the water. In
this reaction, the breaking of ionic bonds in the reactants released more energy than the formation
of new bonds in the products, thus causing a negative temperature change characteristic of an
endothermic reaction. The reaction between sodium carbonate and water was an acid base reaction
in which the water acted as a base to neutralize the acid, sodium carbonate. The energy that was
released in the reactants was less than that absorbed in the products, causing for a positive
temperature change to show an exothermic reaction. The types of reactions

Arthurian Women Research Paper

Arthurian Women
Women have always been the driving force behind the greatest and worst decisions in history.
Best shown in Arthurian times, where women controlled the actions of great and evil men, and
where essential in the deciding of their honorable and evil choices; some of these women were
Morgan Le Fay, Queen Gwynevere, and Queen Margawse. Morgan Le Fay the sister of Arthur and
his greatest adversary, Queen Gwynevere the women who s love toppled Camelot, and Queen
Margawse who s constant affairs she never rued and who raised the child that would one day kill
King Arthur. These womanthrough their love and betrayal shaped the destiny of the Arthurian era.

Queen Margawse was a daughter of Avalon and sister to Igraine. Margawse was married to King
Lot at the age of fifteen and bore him four sons Sir Gawain, Sir Gareth, Sir Aggrvayne, and Sir
Gaheris, all knights of the Round Table. Margawse was power hungry and always wanted to be
a queen of something more than a land in the middle of nowhere. Becoming dissatisfied with her
lot she was instumental in the planning and arranging of Sir Modred s take over and divide of
the court of Camelot, and the killing of King Arthur. Maragawse however was killed before her
plans became reality, by her son when he discovered her in bed with her young lover, Sir
Lamerok; in her later life she had became famous or infamous for her constant affairs with beautiful
young men, especially with Sir Lamerok.
All these women through different types and use of power helped to make and break the
legendary court of King Arthur. Morgaine by stealing the scabbard of excalibur and rendering King
Arthur no longer invincible. Queen Gwnevere by unwittingly dividing the court over her scandal
with Sir Lancelot. Queen Margawse by helping plot and plan with Sir Modred to kill Arthur and
take over Camelot. These women all possessed immense power over the men around them and used
it to help them make evil and honorable decisions that crumbled Camelot and brought Arthur to his

Discover Your Strength And Execute
Discover your Strength and Execute We live in a world, where people are busy focusing on each
other s weak spots. Today s societies are revolving around fixing our weakness rather than
focusing on our strength (Rath, 2007). According to research, it has been discovered that people
progress more when they invest their energy to build their strength rather than fixing their
weakness (Rath, 2007). Gallup, the writer of the book says the book strengths finder actually
measures our talent, not strength because the goal is to help us find our true talents and build
them as our strength (Rath, 2007). In the book strengths finder 2.0, the writer talks about 34
most common talents which help us find the areas where we have the greatest capacity to
develop our strengths (Rath, 2007). All 34 themes can be our greatest strength if we apply in a
right way in right time. In this paper, I will be talking about mainly three strengths that I chose
from the book to apply in nursing career as well as in my daily life practice. Three talents that
will help build our strengths are focus, empathy and responsibility. Focus, is when we set goals,
we must stay on track with timelines and measurements (Rath, 2007). Because, staying focused is
very important as a leader in order to achieve our goal. Staying focused means we need to set a
clear destination because focus is a powerful theme where it helps us to filter our goal and
instinctively make us to decide whether that action will

Rewarding College Athletes Benefits Essay
The Benefit of Rewarding College Athletes
A typical college Coach makes a seven figure salary, and what do the college athletes get
(LoTemplio)? College athletes are unpaid because of a rule called amateurism. According to
Merriam Webster Dictionary, amateurism is when somebody does an activity or hobby without
being paid, such as a college athlete. Many college athletes struggle financially during their years
attending college. Some believe that if they would have had a much easier time if they were
lucky enough to receive some sort of stipend. One former collegiate athlete, Steve Christoff,
claimed that if a person wanted to live in an apartment instead of the dorms, food was hard to pay
for (LoTemplio). Playing a college level sport takes up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People believe the only important thing in college is the education and not what people love to
do. Those same people believe that the athletes are getting paid by free education, and for these
athletes to want more money is outrageous (Lotshaw). Yes, college is for education, but it is also
for people to have fun and do what they love. People who play sports wear their bodies down
each time they step out on the field. Even though it is what they love, it also becomes tiring and
painful. The point of athletes playing in college is for them to eventually, hopefully, move on to
go into the pro level. They themselves have a dream of being a legend to the next generations to
come (Lotshaw). The everyday grind to be better drives a person to do more. These athletes are
giving it their all to one day be a legend. All they care for is the possibility of one day providing
their family with a better life. If having college is not affordable then getting through it is near
impossible. Therefore providing a better life for their families with their success is not very likely.
They work hard for everything they earn and they deserve to finally get something in

searching for a school to study at, it almost seems as hard to find a school then actually being in
college. Researching for a college takes a lot of effort and determination. The school should offer
the classes required for the dream career of the student. The school should also have an outstanding

The university is located in a large urban area in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Attending a college that
is located in a large area can have positive effects and negative effects to the learning environment.
A positive effect is all the options for different clinical jobs required to take while working towards
a physical therapy degree. Negative effects are the noises at night that could distract students
from focusing on learning. Milwaukee offers many opportunities to be a part of the campus
environment by encouraging students to be a part of activities. The University often offers live
music and art shows, put on by some students, for students to go and enjoy. Being a part of
things such as activities and clubs are all a part of the college experience. Some of the category

Deaf Culture

I was interested in immersing myself with this group because they are a community of people
that I ve often wondered about. I ve always wondered about the way they communicate with
others and was it hard being deaf or hearing impaired in some ways. As myself, I learned that
most people feel uncomfortable when meeting a Deaf person for the first time and this is very
normal. When we communicate with people, we generally don t have to think about the process.
When faced with a Deaf person, we are uncertain which rules apply. We don t know where to

The deaf culture/community stands for shared beliefs, values, and behaviors of deaf or hard of
hearing people who use sign language as a primary means of communication and who are members
of local deaf communities. Historically, communities of deaf people have existed in most countries
of the world, each with a unique cultural heritage, and often, a distinct sign language.
In the United States, culturally deaf people are joined together by a common language
(American Sign Language, or ASL), a common history, and many common traditions. Most
culturally deaf people are deaf or hard of hearing from birth or a young age. They also grow up
using sign language for most of their lives. Between 21 million and 28 million people in the
United States are hard of hearing or deaf. However, only a relatively small number of people
(between 100,000 and 200,000) consider themselves culturally deaf. Most other deaf people either
lose their hearing after childhood or grow up without using sign as their primary language.
Culturally deaf people live throughout the United States. Particularly large communities of
culturally deaf people are found in and around such cities as Chicago, Illinois; New York City; San
Francisco, California; and Washington, D.C. Although they may not live together in the same
neighborhoods, they frequently socialize with one another and meet together at sign language
events. Culturally deaf people are recognized by the

  • 2. Sports Employee Retention Volunteers are unpaid, free participation in the organisation in order to gain benefit to others, environment and their self. (Hoye, 2008) Volunteers are the important and valuable part in many aspects of the society. (Bang Ross, 2009) In addition, volunteers are an initial part of sports service delivery and sports event management. (Giannoulakis et al., 2007) Cnaan Goldberg Glen (1991, p.270) noted that volunteers enable administrators to sustain current services and expand both the quantity and diversity of services without exhausting the agency s budget. In order to make the event be successful, volunteers are the indispensable part of the event. As Cuskelly et al. (2006) stated that between 8.2% and 10% of Australians and about 15% of the English population are participating in sports volunteers. In regard to volunteered time per year, Australians contributed 98 per volunteer per year as well as English volunteers are 208. (Cuskelly et al. 2006) Therefore, sports organization and ... In addition, it will lead to the high cost of recruitment and training (Pauline, 2011) so that understanding of how to retention of sports volunteers is very crucial to sports organisers and organisations. In terms of retention of sports volunteers, three elements were identified such as motives, meaningful work and satisfaction. (Hoye, 2008) Many researchers have been investigated the relationship between motivation, satisfaction and retention in other countries but a little research about this in Hong Kong. Furthermore, this type of research in other countries may not apply in the situation of Hong Kong because of culture difference. As Hofstede (1994) indicated that Masculinity is high in Australia as well as Hong Kong in a middle position. This difference may result in the different motivation of sports ... • 5. Public Administration And The Public Sector Old Public Administration was created to answer the questions to many unanswered problems. President Woodrow Wilson said it was harder to run a constitution than to frame it because of the difficult administrative tasks had to deal with. Sure enough, he was not the only person who felt that way. President Wilson believed that in order to run an effective government, ideas from the private sector should be incorporated into the public sector. He even went as far as to give input on how the government would be able to implement ideas from the private sector to the public sector. And that is to limit what hierarchical organization can do. Wilson believed that those in power would not have control of creating the policy, but they will have a handle on how the policy is implemented. Two themes stood out around the topic of Public Administrationthe distinction between policy and administration, and the accountability of elected individuals who are a part of an organization. The second theme was around the use of structures and strategies to ensure that managementwork efficiency. Many had much to say when it came Wilson s statement that Policy and Administration should be separate entities. A few people argued that policy and administration could not be separated because policy and administration depend on one another to work effectively. Frederick Taylor, a theorist believed that in order to enforce efficiency within an organization, a scientific management ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even after his hands were bloody and in pain, he continued to practice until he was exhausted and both his drumsticks and drum set was covered in blood. This scene represents what it takes for a novice performer to become an expert performer through the general models of skill learning that is divided into three theories. The theory of deliberate practice by Anders Ericsson is a vastly planned activity where the overt objective is to improve performance. Explicit tasks are created to conquer weaknesses and help present signs for ways to progress it further. As stated in class, deliberated practice is the type of practice that is effortful, purposeful, and not inherently enjoyable. Individuals are prompted to practice because their performance improves. In addition, engaging in deliberate practice does not create instant rewards and significance associated with access to teachers and training atmospheres. However, Ericsson states becoming an ... This is the cry repeated in remembrance as Sam Houston s army of 800 men swept through Houston Texas to take revenge for the lives sacrificed in the devastating defeat of Alamo. This sound was the emblem of respect throughout the States, but also around the globe for the leadership and sacrifice displayed in this stand of valor. During the Texasrevolution in 1836, the Battle of the Alamotook place, as a last standing defense and hope for the security of the independence of the state of Texas from Mexico. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This cry was repeated in honor of the shattering loss of the Alamo for Texas independence. The Alamo was an emblem of leadership and sacrifice displayed in a stand of fearlessness. Though under provisioned in all areas in men, in food, in arms, and especially in protection the men standing in defense of the Alamo resolved to give their all and sacrifice their lives to secure Texas independence. Despite their courage, bravery, and greatest efforts, the Alamo was a demoralizing loss to both Texas and to the nation. In retaliation to this crushing overthrow, and the loss in valor, Sam Houston and his army took revenge for the souls slain and the lives given in defense of the Alamo in the following battle of the Runaway Scrape. Though outnumbered by Santa Ana s army almost 6 1, Sam Houston and 800 men, each filled with reprisal, swept through the Mexican army and slayed almost the entire force in a matter of nearly 18 minutes. Though vengeance was taken and independence secured, nothing would fill the void of the souls lost in the Alamo. The Alamo was and is a symbol: It is an icon of resistance and determination, of generations past, and more importantly, to the generation of today s nation. It was the leadership, it was the will, and it was the sacrifice of the Alamo, which gained true independence for Texas. Remember the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparison Between Merce Cunningham And Martha Grahame The world of contemporary dance is one that is constantly developing and pushing the boundaries of what makes dance more than just movement. However, it is questionable that it would be in this diverse state if it was not for a few revolutionary choreographers. Along with Martha Grahame is could be argued that Merce Cunningham was a pioneering, revolutionary choreographer who questioned given standards and procedures creating the diverse contemporary style that we know today. Revolutionary can be defined as something radically new or innovative; outside or beyond established procedure and principles (Dictionary.com, 2017). • 10. Ulyssess Grant Pros And Cons Ulysses S. Grant Hiram Ulysses Grant was born on April 27, 1822, in Point Pleasant, Ohio. Born into a middle class family, he was the first son of Jesse Root Grant, a tanner and businessman, and Hannah Simpson Grant. A year after his birth, his family packed their bags and moved to Georgetown, Ohio. Here Grant spent the majority of his childhood, one he deemed uneventful. The son of an outgoing father and reserved mother, Grant took after the latter, characterized as shy in his childhood. He was abhorrent toward the idea of taking over his father s tannery business, a fact his father slowly came to realize. Often times he seemed bewildered, looking to Congress for direction. As one visitor to the White House said he possessed, a puzzled a pathos, as of a man with a problem before him of which he does not understand the terms. Though quite honest, Grant had a knack of appointing people who were not morally sound. Although he was successful in pushing through the 15th Amendment, Ulysses S. Grant s double term was dominated by scandals and dishonor. After his retirement from presidency, Grant encountered, again, hardship in his civilian life. He co owned a financial firm with Ferdinand Ward, only to have his partner embezzle investors money. The firm went bankrupt in 1884 along with Grant, and in the same year he was informed he was suffering from throat cancer. After such disappointment and grief, Grant partnered with a friend named Mark Twain in order to publish his memoirs, a piece of business that earned his family $450,000. Ulysses S. • 11. Hill Attack Schurz Summary In Schurz s report he talked a decent amount on the treatment of slaves. He was talking about how the terror against any colored person was definitely still going on. Schurz talks about how black people were being; kidnapped, maimed, killed, and have been disappearing (M.P. Johnson pg.4). The treatment was not going to get better because the southern whites have an ingrained feeling that the blacks at large belong to the withes at large... (M.P. Johnson pg.5). He s pretty much saying that the black peopleare still being looked down upon by the whites in the south. This ties in with how Hill and many of his family were being treated. For example, Hill talks about how one night, people came knocking at the door of his brother. These people were no other than the K.K.K. They were looking for him and bludgeoned his sister in law to get the information about Hill s whereabouts. When the woman couldn t handle the beating, she told them where Hill was. They grabbed Hill out of his wooden shed and started to beat him, until one of the members started talking. They threatened Hill and beat him some more before they left him alone. This was the terror that newly freed slaves were facing, and the terror Schurz was talking about.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 12. How I Enhanced My Citation Skills The semester has been a learning experience and an adjustment. The Gender Bending in Rock, Pop, and Hip Hop course was an eye opening and informative experience. It not only taught me about gender bending, various talented artists, and styles of music but also a multitude of writing techniques and elements. These writing elements have helped me further strengthen my writing ability. There are two elements that I have found to be extremely helpful throughout numerous writing assignments are citations and supporting paragraphs. In this essayI will talk about how I enhanced my citationskills, learned the power of supporting paragraphs and can pass the knowledge onto others. To have a strong impact on a reader and really cause them to think, change their minds, or learn something new, as the writer, it is important to have strong supporting paragraphs. This was something that I had previous knowledge of before it was discussed in class. Supporting paragraphs are used to help the reader get the point that is trying to be made. They provide the thesis with the supporting evidence that it needs. The thesis is the road map and the supporting paragraphs are the pit stops along the way to the final destination. Each pit stop, has an adventure making the overall journey a true learning experience. I applied this concept to my own work when writing the research blog. The goal of my blog was to inform people about some misconceptions of feminism and what feminism is. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Princess Diana As A Hero Princess Diana is considered to be the most favored member of the Royal Family in the history of the British Monarchy (biography.com editors 1). She is the former wife of Prince Charles, and the mother of Princes William and Harry. Her charitable work with impoverished children has formed her reputation as a role model for the people of Britain and much of the world. Much of Dianas life has been devoted to traveling the world to help others. Her work in Africa with the children injured by landmines brought her into the global spotlight (Wexford 3). Princess Diana was more than just a public figure and royal, she was a loving person who brought light to social issues and cared for those who are destitute. A hero, as defined in Webster s Online Dictionary, is a person who a person admired for achievements or noble qualities or one who shows great courage. However, a hero is not just a person with outstanding achievements. A hero is a person who is philanthropic, generous, and kind. Heros fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, and do not judge those who they are fighting for. They are charitable in ways other than donating money, they give their time and effort in order to make the lives of others more pleasant. Heros display bravery, as they are willing to go into a dangerous situation to help others that have been aggrieved. This reading tells about the first time Elizondo visited the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe at Tepeyac in Mexico City, the enforcement of Spanish rule of Mexicos Aztec Empire, and the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupeto Juan Diego. When Elizondo finally arrived at Tepeyac he felt like everything was sort of in slow motion and every one moved as a procession up to see the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. He felt like her image seemed to be moving toward him rather than him moving toward it. He described it as a core moment of his life. The appreciation of Our Lady of Guadalupe can only ... Thus, there is a need for promoting trust and confidence on the Internet. For consumers, security and privacy issues are seen as barriers to shopping online (Windham Orton, 2000). They want their identity and personal information to be confidential, due to fear of being exposed to online fraud (Petrovic et al., 2003). People are more willing to take risks with people or organizations which they trust. The potential risk in e commerce is greater because of the anonymity, distance and lack of physical interactions (Cazier, Shao St. Louis, 2006). Many elements of personal interaction that are used in the offline environment, for example, facial expression, gesture and body language, are lost or not applicable in an online environment (Grabner KrГ¤uter Kaluscha, 2003). Many consumers appreciate the real shopping experience of touching things and trying items on. So, in order to understand why people do or do not engage in e commerce activities, it is important to study online trust (Cazier et al., 2006). • 18. Research Paper On Baldness Baldness is a common occurrence among men. It is typically regarded as something normal and not indicative of any kind of health condition, although it may cause psychological distress in the affected. However, scientists have discovered positive correlations between baldness and several pathologies. Male pattern hair loss, as it is formally known in the medical realm, affects at least 50% of men in old age. Its causes are believed to be largely genetic. Recent studies have finally shed some light on the genetic underpinnings of the condition, revealing several complex relationships with other diseases and innate traits. Shortness and baldness According to scientists at the University of Bonn, Germany, short men are more likely to experience hair loss prematurely. They studied the genetic material of more than 20,000 men from around the world. Slightly less than half were bald men. After analyzing the data, the team of scientists led by geneticists Dr. Stephanie Heilmann Heimbach and Prof. Markus NГ¶then discovered that prematurely bald men carried 60 genomic alterations. Morton s toe is a skeletal disorder, in which the first metatarsal is shorter than the second metatarsal. Metatarsals are the bones that attach to the toes or known as phalanges. Individuals often mistake Morton s toe of the second toe being longer than the first, but it is actually the second metatarsal that is longer than the first metatarsal; therefore, the second toe seems longer than the big toe. Paper, Pollutants, Politics, and Precaution The paper industry here in Maine is struggling with mill closures and a bad reputation for being wasteful or bad for the environment. The issue of paper mills being an added stress to the environment is not unique to Maine. Mills in Wisconsin are also very wasteful, producing toxins in the air, soil, and water. In one river in Wisconsin, two hundred fifty thousand pounds of sediment is said to have been contaminated with manufactured organic chemicals used by the paper mills (Environmental Impacts of the Paper Industry, 2016). The Environmental protection agency has become involved in the issue by estimating the movement of about one hundred sixty thousand pounds of sediment from that river to adjoining lakes, river, and bays (Environmental Impacts of the Paper Industry, 2016). However, this is not always possible. Of course, government controlis not perfect either. Property rights that would lead to efficient allocations have four main characteristics: universality, exclusivity, transferability, and enforceability. Universality is when all resources are privately owned and the entitlements are specified. Transferability refers to the fact that all property rights should be transferable from one owner to another in voluntary exchange. And finally, enforceability simply means that all property rights should be secure from involuntary seizure by others. With all of these in place, one would certainly use a resource efficiently because a decline in the value of the resource would represent a personal loss. Four Dimensionssions Of Film Sound In The 1960 s Film Psycho Answer 1: There are four dimensions of film sound that can be found in this clip from the 1960 s film Psycho, these are rhythm, fidelity, space, and time. When directing this scene Alfred Hitchcock had to make a lot of decisions regarding sound in it. Each of these choices has different implications and will affect the audience differently. Let s start with fidelity, I believe Hitchcock purposely implemented a lot of fidelity in this scene. I think he used common and familiar environmental sounds in the background while Marion was completing mundane tasks before entering the shower. This is apparent when Marion ripped a piece of paper out of a notebook, tore it up, and then flush it down the toilet. Hitchcock chose to allow the audience to hear these sounds for a few reasons. First, it provides the viewer with a more complete experience. Second, it keeps the viewer s attention more present because the scene is more realistic and natural. Lastly, Hitchcock used these sounds as the camera followed Marion to the shower, this allows time and action to continue smoothly over a series of shots making the temporal duration rhythmic. Next is space and how sound affects the viewer s perspective of it. While in the shower the loudest noise is the water falling, after a few seconds the viewer gets used to the tranquil sound of the water falling. By making the sound of the water so loud it makes the viewer feel like they are close, maybe even in the shower. Loudness is related to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Renewable energy resources include wind, solar, water, biomass and geothermal. These resources are some of which will not run out because they are natural resources of the earth. Solar energy comes from the sun, wind energy from the wind geothermal from deep within the earth and so on. Non renewable resources are fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gases. These cannot be replaced so eventually we will run out and have to rely on renewable energy. Non renewable energy makes up 86 percent of Australia s energy with the other 14 percent being renewable energy. 73 percent of Australia s energy is using coal while, 13 percent is natural gases, 7 percent is hydropower, 4 percent is wind, 2 percent is rooftop solar and 1 percent is biomass. There are a few major advantages with non renewable energy. There are plenty of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and gas in Australia so this means they are a relatively cheap fuel and readily available. Australia has enough fossil fuel resources to last for years. Also very large amounts of electricity can be generated from fossil fuels. Non renewable energy is cost effective and easier to product and use. According to National Geographic, there are reservoirs of non renewable energy sources throughout the world. • 35. College Essay On Paying College Athletes Paying College Athletes Many people believe that college athletes should be paid for how much revenue they bring to their school. However, there are also people who think they should not get paid because they already have numerous advantages that other students do not have. Student athletes at the Division 1 level that play men s basketball and football should not necessarily be paid a salary but should be able to make money off of their accomplishments, especially if we hold them on a high pedestal as we do now. It may seem unfair only to pay those who play men s basketball and football, but the reason why these two sports are the most reasonable is that they bring in the most revenue for the schools out of the major sports that are ... Because of this, they say it would provide an unfair advantage to the other students if these athletes get both a free education as well as get paid at the same time to play a sport (Yankah). Others say that they are just kids and do not need that kind of financial pressure at such a young age. Furthermore, athletes should not be paid because there just is not enough money in the school, and there would be an uneven pay between sports based on general revenue (time). People even say that if the NCAA were to pay athletes, it would take away from the importance of an education and these players would not take their education seriously(lemmons). All these reasons and much more support why college athletes should NOT be paid. However, there are just as many points to argue why they should be paid. First of all, college athletes at the Division 1 level spend more than 43.3 hours per week to his sport which is 3.3 more hours than the average American work week (Edelman). Secondly, while the NCAA claims these athletes are just students, the NCAA s tournament schedules require college athletes to miss classes for nationally televised games that bring in revenue (Edelman). Theorists have tried to explain sociological behaviour by looking at the patterns created by individuals that commit crime. The August 2011 riots are pivotal in explaining criminological behaviour since official statistics show that 865 individuals were put in prison by the 9th September 2011 for offences related to the disorder between 6th and 9th August 2011. This is not to say that others were not involved, but that they have simply not been identified to date and may never be identified, however the evidence we do have about the recent riots gives us plenty to talk about. Becker came to the conclusion that people are criminalised through the process of negotiation, known to be social constructionism for example the Crown Prosecution Service may drop the charge of murder to manslaughter if there is not enough evidence to convict for murder. By doing this the defendant becomes labelled for the crime of manslaughter even though he may truly be guilty of murder. By introducing what could be regarded as petty legislation more people will be labelled criminals, which in turn may lead the offender to act further on this basis. Lemert referred to this as secondary deviance as when a person is labelled criminal they change their view of themselves and this then becomes their master status . On the other hand primary deviance is when someone violates a social code, but does not get labelled. Therefore a person is only labelled a criminal if he is caught and since ethnic minorities are subject to much more scrutiny than the white population this puts black people at an automatic disadvantage. One of the boys named Faraj began to cry when it was time for the children to depart back to their homes. Difference Between Endothtermic And Exothermic The goal of this experiment was to preform a series of reactions to determine the change in temperature that which would conclude whether the chemical reactions were endothermic or exothermic. The original hypothesis was that each of the reactions, except for the reaction between solid magnesium and hydrochloric acid, would be endothermic, and the remainder would be exothermic. This hypothesis was disproven during laboratory experiments to conclude that each of the reactions were exothermic except for the reaction between water and ammonium chloride which was endothermic. In Table 1, the heat of solution data collected from ammonium chloride and sodium carbonate are indicative of how acid base and dissolution reactions yield certain results. The reaction between ammonium chloride and water is a dissolution reaction in which ammonia and hydronium is produced from the breaking of ionic bonds in ammonium chloride from the water. In this reaction, the breaking of ionic bonds in the reactants released more energy than the formation of new bonds in the products, thus causing a negative temperature change characteristic of an endothermic reaction. The reaction between sodium carbonate and water was an acid base reaction in which the water acted as a base to neutralize the acid, sodium carbonate. The energy that was released in the reactants was less than that absorbed in the products, causing for a positive temperature change to show an exothermic reaction. The types of reactions ...
