Black Masculinity
Growing up in a city with a lot of crime and illegal activity, it is hard to stay focused on what is
important. Morehouse College is one of the top ranked institutions in the country that focuses on the
issue of black masculinity. Notable alumni, including Martin Luther King Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, and
Spike Lee once sat in the same chairs and walked the same halls. Morehouse College strives to turn
boys into men. Within four years of constant work, some transform and others cannot take the
pressure. Even though not all black men abuse and/or look down on women, Black men in today s
generation are constantly being stereotyped based upon past situations because not all black men are
criminals and not all Caucasian men are preachers. Being an

Office Space Facts
1. Gather the Facts The premise of the movie Office Space is about a group of workers, Peter,
Michael, Samir, Tom, and Milton, work at Initech who are fed up with their jobs. The movie starts
with Peter, the protagonist, going through his typical day of work at Initech. Various annoyances have
been accumulating and Peter views his days at work as a waste of time and has no motivation to do
anything productive. In addition to these brewing issues, Peter s boss, Bill Lumbergh, is known for
being a stickler to rules, however trivial they may be. For example, when Peter forgets to include the
cover sheet to a TPS report, not only does Lumbergh personally talk to Peter to remind him about the
cover sheet for future reports, but also sends the next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

William Shakespeare Character Analysis
I m a huge nerd about Shakespeare.William Shakespeare is someone who has had a profound impact
upon the consciousness and culture of the entire English speaking world. His plays are the foundation
for some of the greatest movies and TV shows that we have including many of our english words and
many phrases and ideas that we commonly use come directly from Shakespeare. However, there are
many who wonder who he really is and many people speculate that the man they call William
Shakespeare is not actually the author of the plays and sonnets attributed to his name. I do not agree
and I am in firm belief that William Shakespeare is the one who wrote the plays.
William Shakespeare as we know him was born in Stratford, a village on the Avon river in the county
of Warwickshire in England. We have no actual records of when he was born, however we do have a
record of when he was baptized, which was on April 26 1564. He was the eldest surviving son of a
glove maker, John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. At the age of eighteen he married Anne Hathaway
and until 1592, when he resurfaced again in the London theatre scene.
The first point of evidence in the authorship conflict is that Shakespeare s name is on the plays and
poems he wrote. Tom Kathman and David Reedy point this out in their book. How We Know That
Shakespeare Wrote Shakespeare: The Historical Facts. In 1593, the narrative poem Venus and Adonis
was published by Stratford native Richard Field, with a dedication to the Earl of

Kodak Options Memo
In my March 6 memo, I discussed the need for Kodak to revamp its core strategy and regain
popularity. Eastman Kodak has been the leader of photography and printing products for nearly 130
years. Over the last few years Kodak has been in distress due to its poor fundamental shift into the
digital age. Lack of strategic creativity led Kodak to misunderstand the industry in which it was
operating. This lack of strategic creativity was costly for Kodak.
This memo will explore the options I briefly discussed in the previous memo, in order to find a
solution to this problem. Each option will be assessed based on the same criteria. The options to
consider are:
* Hire a new CEO new bolder leadership * Enter into a new aggressive ... Show more content on

These profits can be achieved through tracking consumer needs and maintaining efficiency within the
value chain.
The option can revamp its line of attack to surpass current expectations. Though this option has a high
level of risk, if successful, would implement a drastic change to Kodak s strategy and overall
performance for the good of company leaders, employees, and stakeholders. The new CEO will be
evaluated after one year by leaders, employees, and stakeholders.
Option 2: Enter into a new aggressive market
Kodak currently has no position within the ink market. The ink business is a $45 billion a year sector
that could regenerate Kodak s position in the printing sector. The market for ink is dominated by HP,
followed by Epson, Canon, and Lexmark. Entering a complete new market may be beneficial in its
current position. According to Kodak, the greatest obstacle to printing at home is the cost of ink and
supplies. Kodak can develop a cost efficient solution that will be more appealing to consumers. With
the launch of this product, Kodak must focus on several sectors of business: marketing, pricing,
distribution, and production. Onesource (2011). * Marketing Kodak is the world s foremost imaging
innovator. Its reputation in the film printing business is dominant. Introducing a new line of cost
efficient printer ink will be effective and popular. Kodak s target market will include anyone with a
household printer. Kodak s goal will focus

Judith Beheading Holofernes
The artist Artemisia Gentileschi, the year 1598 99, painted on canvas with oil paint. This painting
called Judith Beheading Holofernes is know as a baroque painting because of its use of shading the
background completely black to draw focus to characters, it also displays a wide variety of emotions.
The subject of Judith Beheading Holofernes is simple and is right in the title, it s about Judith over
powering Holofernes, choking him with ribbon and later taking his head off. This is a very powerful
statement that can hold meaning even today. Now I do not know much of the history behind this
painting but I can tell that what ever Holofernes did was wrong and Judith was manipulated, or at least
pushed, to kill him in his sleep by the old lady ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The eye starts on Judith s face and moves down her left arm on to Holofernes face then travel up her
right arm and into the old lady s face, which lets the viewer mover through the whole painting. Next is
contrast: the dark background lets the view know that the background is not important and the bright
characters are what they should focus on and this correlates witch the Von Restoff effect. Judith s face
also falls on an intersection in the rule of thirds, and the different texture of skin, and fabrics are
realistic. The viewer can really tell what is cloth, silk, wool, yarn, and what kind of hair everyone in
the painting has. However, what does it for me is the colors, the deep red curtain that s about to fall on
Holofernes body when he is dying shows more of the symbolism that he is dying than the action of
Judith choking him. The darker skin tone of the old lady and darker tone in her clothes to show her
age but also says that she not one of wealth. The vibrant coloration of Judith showing her purity, also
the brown of her clothing being not of a bright color gives me the feeling that she is a housewife or a
plain Jane. The colors do more than tell whom the characters are it also shows every fold and defines
the human body with the differences in tone. It gives shape to the agonizing pain in Holofernes face,
the questioning face of Judith, and the assured face of the old lady. This

Finding Nemo Father
In a large variety of media, characters face both internal and external conflicts, an everyday
occurrence that is experienced by all. Typically, protagonists are given a superficial challenge to
overcome. However, as the story progresses, some characters undergo an unforeseen expedition within
themselves. Classic movies, such as Finding Nemo, exhibit this common phenomenon. Finding Nemo
follows the quest of a clownfish as he embarks on the journey to find his son. Even though Marlin
originally sought out to locate his lost child, he soon began his internal journey of trust.
Marlin, one of the protagonists, is the standard overprotective parent. He most likely inherited his
vigilant behaviors following the tragic incident of losing a great portion of his family. One night,
Marlin and his wife were attacked by a barracuda, leaving Marlin unconscious. When he woke up, he
discovered that both his wife Coral and the majority of their eggs had vanished, with the exception of
Nemo. The son, being Marlin s only source of family, formed a strong and slightly ... Show more

throughout the storyline. In this case, Marlin is the quester (a) and his place to go (b) is Sydney,
Australia in hopes to find his son (c). Along the way, he and Dory encounter many strenuous
challenges, including near death confrontation with sharks, jellyfish, and a killer whale (d). Once
reunited with Nemo, it can then be inferred that Marlin fought to find Nemo to preserve what was left
of his precious family (e). Overall, the journey positively impacted Marlin as he learned to instill trust

The Association Between Worker Prosperity And...
Introduction In today s developing world, a great association between the representative and the
association is essential. For the association s profitability in each field, representatives ought to be
prosperity. The associations opposition for giving best in business is high. Thus, to pick up the upper
hand viability of the firm is imperative. This can just be achieved when there is a decent connection
between the workers and association. In this exposition, I will depict about the association between
worker prosperity and authoritative viability. The five components which are affecting on worker
prosperity and giving illustration for every element. Likewise disclose how to execute those variables
on representatives to take compelling work from them. Worker prosperity is characterized as that bit
of a representative s general wellbeing that they see to be determined basically by work and can be
influenced by workplace intercessions in the organisation. (John P. Meyer, 2010)The employee
satisfactions depends upon the happiness and working environment of an employee. The fundamental
point is that the representative prosperity absolutely relates with emotions, perspectives and
impression of the worker about their work and their firm. On the off chance that the worker is content
with their occupation and their executive means they get the correct admiration about their position
than just the representative can give their best to the organisation (Allisey, 2011). This

Key Elements For Fedex Corporations Success From...
The FedEx Corporation has been the world s leading express shipping and distribution company
almost three decades. In its time frame, it has expanded into five companies that is spread across 211
counties. The purpose of this paper is to introduce some of the key elements to FedEx corporations
success from strategy, innovation, planning, and ethics. This paper will also examine and compare the
four types of innovation theories in relation to innovation, planning, strategy, and business ethics.
Innovation Theories Innovation is defined as a method to doing or creating something different or

Value innovation can be achieved by implementing a focus on innovation and creation of new market
possibilities (Value Innovation, 2015). Kim and Mauborgne explains how innovative companies beat
their competitors by creating products or services for which there aren t any present. With value
innovation it doesn t mean that a company develops or creates new goods or services. The goal of
value innovation is to create new demands in efforts to change the market as well as make competitors
irrelevant. Value innovation can improve existing services as well as lower the cost for the company
and their customers. The Blue Ocean Strategy is a strategy that companies use as an opportunity for
quick profitable growth. It focuses on those markets within the same industry that have not been in
existence; therefore, competition is not an issue. The Blue Ocean Strategy is different from the
traditional strategy in that the traditional strategy focuses on value and cost as a trade; however, for
Blue Ocean Strategy, companies pursue the expansion of a current product and low cost at the same
time (Kim W. and Mauborgne, R., 2004). The key elements of the Blue Ocean Strategy are: value
proposition, profit proposition, and people proposition; however, if one of these propositions is not
addressed properly, then it causes an imbalance in an effort to execute the strategy. (Kim, W.

Designing A Different Operating System
You can t know where you re going unless you know where you been, this saying rings true when
thinking of Lunix. In order to know the start of Lunix one would have to travel back in time quite a
bit. In this paper, I will research the start of Linux, the growth, and the future. When thinking of
computers imagine they are as big as the tallest building or stadium. While the size of those computers
posed problems, there was the one thing that made them worse: every computer had a different
operating system. Software was customized to serve a certain purpose, and software didn t run from
one system to another. This was painful for both the system administrators and users alike. Computers
were so expensive back then, and so many sacrifices had to made even after the original big purchase
just to get the users to understand how the parts worked together. Technology at that time was not so
advanced, so this was the way of life for another decade or so. In 1969, the beginning of finding a
solution to the software problem began. The first developer Ken Thompson is an American pioneer in
computer science. He started out working at Bell Labs for most of his career. Dennis Richie is the
second developer who was a computer scientist that created the C programming language and, with
Ken Thompson and created the Unix project. Thompson and Richie came together to address the
compatibility issues and develop a new operating system. The key points that they wanted to instill

The Republic, By Plato Essay
In one of his most widely read texts, the Republic, Plato sets out to explore the very nature of the
concept of Justice, the various forms it takes in the world, and its relevance to the lives of men. As
Socrates states, it is about the way we ought to live (I 352d). The dialogue begins by introducing the
commonly held view of justice, via Thrasymachus, Glaucon and Adeimantus, as the non performance
of certain types of unlawful or antisocial acts. However, the entire treatise quickly moves on to
concentrate on a different meaning of justice, as a form of moral virtue. He wishes to demonstrate that
justice and morality are interconnected because humans can only achieve a good life which he claims
is the best way to live if they have those things that are desirable in themselves (II 357b). Therefore
Plato s argument, as it sets out to prove the intrinsic value of living a just life, is neither deontological,
nor consequentialist. In the Republic, Plato is arguing for the transcendent value of justice as a human
good, or virtue, which informs and guides moral conduct. Plato bases his argument on a new and
unique understanding of what justice is and how morally sensitive people are able to learn about the
real nature of justice, morality and other virtues. He believes that it is necessary to grasp the true or
intrinsic nature of certain virtues in order to make accurate judgements about the appropriate way to
act in relation to others, justice and the collective good.

Eleanor Roosevelt s Book Of Common Sense Etiquette
True Patriotism springs from a belief in the dignity of the individual, freedom and equality not only
for Americans but for all people on Earth, universal brotherhood and good will, and a constant and
earnest striving toward the principles and ideals on which this country was founded. This is a snippet
from Eleanor Roosevelt s Book of Common Sense Etiquette. This line describes what I believe my
responsibility to America is. We, as American citizens, have a responsibility to be good people.
Samuel Adams once said, Honesty, honor, godliness, industry, respect for the law, morality, and
truthfulness are the wheels on which our entire republic rides. If the American people are no damn

One way to put America first would be staying informed on issues affecting our community. Most
teenagers mindset on issues in their community is if it doesn t involve me I don t care. But what they
don t realize is just because it doesn t influence them now it will affect them in the future. The
president that is elected this year will still be in office when we are old enough for it to affect us. Laws
that are passed in the next few years that we, as teenagers cannot vote on yet, will still Influence us
later in life. Just because we, personally can t vote on it yet doesn t mean that we can t change others
opinions that can vote. If we follow things that are happening in our community and we talk about it
or debate it we might be able to enlighten some people with information that they weren t privy to
before. This, in fact, just might change their minds on certain things, which in turn could change how
they vote, or who they vote for. Let us not be afraid to help each other let us never forget that
government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not
a President, Senators, Congressmen and Government officials but the voters of this country. This was
said during Roosevelt s speech at Marietta, Ohio, July. 8, 1938. Staying informed in what is happening

Explaining the Gospel of Mark
When I read Mark during church we would read the long ending, at the time I didn t know the
difference between the endings. I was confused to why there were three different parts to it and they
were broken up as if they were supposed to be a new verse. When I asked the leader of the class she
couldn t give me an explanation. With the research I have done I feel that I have come to a conclusion
as to which ending is the most correct and why there are multiple endings.
When the Sabbath was over, Mary the mother of James, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb where
Jesus had been buried. A large stone closed off the entrance and when they arrived the stone had been
moved. An angel appeared to them and told them not to be alarmed for Jesus had risen. But, they were
alarmed and when the angel told them to go tell the disciples and Peter that Jesus had risen they were
afraid, ran away, and didn t tell anyone.
The gospel of Mark ends rather abruptly at verse 16:8, in the middle of a sentence but according to
Mann the beginning also started very abruptly means it could still have been written by Mark. In this
ending Mary and Mary the mother of James are headed to the tomb where Jesus has been buried, they
are bringing spices to anoint the body of Jesus. According to Harrington this is rather odd because it is
not custom for someone to anoint a deceased person a day and two nights after the death. Also the fact
that they were bringing the spices to anoint him means that they

For being over eight hundred years, the Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists

Catalan chapel in Spain, have faded. Portions, especially along the bottom, have disappeared over
time. Even though historians moved it to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, it has not been fully
restored. The artist identified each of the apostles in the Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four

key factor in the overall story represented has faded one of the lamps or incense holders beneath

The Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists uses an interesting technique in its apse,
compared to previous Byzantine decorations in apses. It incorporates the technique of fresco painting,
where artists painted pigments into the plaster and wood on the walls so the paint would become one
with the walls similar to methods used in ancient Greece, compared to exercising mosaics as
decorations in apses. The artist mostly employed primary pigments in the Christ in Majesty with
Symbols of the Four Evangelists to make the figures stand out. A repetition occurs in the pigments
with red, gold like yellow, and blue with the occasional purple and the hair colors vary with tones of
brown and grayish white. The style portrayed in the Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four
Evangelists follows previous rules with the representation of divine figures in churches. The
proportions of the piece utilizes the hierarchy scale with the most important figure Christ. The figure
of Christ is the largest image shown in the apse, and other figures such as the apostles, the four
symbols of the evangelists, and the scenes from the New Testament are roughly the same size. The
smallest figures appear in the windows the sacrifice scenes with Cain and Abel. The artist employed a

Narrative Essay On The Eiffel Tower
I woke up thinking about the contest again, but I pushed it aside and got ready to go touring again and
today we were going to the Eiffel Tower. We headed out at 10:00am and drove there in a cab, we
arrived and the view from our room was no match to the real deal, it was outstanding and a lot bigger
than I imaged too. We got in line for tickets and it didn t take to long, so we found our tour guide, so
that she could take us up in it, I was nervous and excited at the same time because I don t like heights,
but I do love scenery. We went up in an elevator to the first floor or the first platform and let me tell
you,it was as beautiful as a thousand roses, literally, there was thousands of roses everywhere, it was
magnificent. After a while we got back on the elevator to go to the top and on the way up the tour
guide told us that it is about 108 floor tall, twice the size of the one is Vegas. The elevator stopped and
we stepped out. The breeze was perfect and so was the weather, we walked out to a telescope and
plopped in a quarter. All I could say was wow, my mom and dad were almost speechless too. Once we
got up there I realized i wasn t afraid anymore, hopefully the contest was going to be the same way, I
took it all in, along with a thousand photos my mom took of us and everything else. We kept looking
at everything, it was like nothing I ve ever experienced before, it was perfect and so delicate, words
were not enough to explain it. The city was busy and all the cars and people looked like ants, the park
around us was perfect, the grass, the trees everything seemed so perfect around us, at least until it
started to pour rain. We ran into the elevator and luckily there was enough room for all of us because
there were people who didn t get in and i was sure they were drenched by now. After some time we
got to the bottom and ran to our cab as fast as cheetahs, but it didn t matter, we were drenched as well.
We got in our cab and drove to our hotel to change and dry off. We wandered the hotel after we
changed, to look at all the paintings and statues. It stopped raining after a little while and we decided
to go shopping around the boutiques, the look of the boutiques made me think that everything was

Methodology For Children Related Public Expenditure And...
Methodology for Children Related Public Expenditure and Institutional Reviews
There are a number of events that have increased attention on the allocation of public expenditure
(public finance) in the last few years, but the most important factors that have affected developing
countries are:
Overall, the global economic and financial crisis has put pressure on governments around the world to
cut spending, deficits and debts, and allocate scarce public resources more effectively and efficiently
to achieve the goals of poverty reduction, economic growth and sustainable development.

This work has spawned various specialized PERs such as UNDP s Climate Public Expenditure and
Institutional Reviews (CPEIR) which focus on climate change finance and UNICEF s Child Focused
Public Expenditure Reviews which focus on child related public expenditure (I have been able to
identify only three Child focused PERs which have been conducted in Macedonia, Gabon and the
Republic of Central Africa).
Despite the heightened concern, there is no standard or unified framework or methodology for
carrying out public expenditure analysis. A review of the WB s PERs has found that there is no
consistency in PER s methodology and quality. Many PERs did not use explicit criteria for analyzing
public spending or did not analyze relevant expenditure categories (i.e. major programs within
sectors). More importantly, many of them did not analyze institutional processes and did not follow up
to build government capacity. Over time, the WB has strengthened the PER methodology and their
quality has substantially increased. UNDP (in cooperation with ODI) is also trying to strengthen the
methodology for the conduct of CPEIRs and their ownership by client governments.
Given the increased attention and funding that children issues have received over time, public
spending directly or indirectly related to the achievement of children s rights and wellbeing has
become an important part of public expenditure. Therefore, a detailed analysis of children related
expenditures in national

Albert Durer s Whore Of Babylon
Albert Durer s Whore of Babylon, from the Apocalypse
The Whore of Babylon woodcut by Albert Durer was one of fifteen woodcuts in his famous series,
The Apocalypse which was published in 1498. This woodcut series portrays scenes from the book of
Revelation in the bible, concerning the end of the world. It was created at a time when Europe
anticipated the Last Judgement , as Germany was experiencing plagues, religious debates, and peasant
movements towards the end of the 15th century. Durer became wealthy and rapidly well known across
Europe because of this series. He began working on these woodcuts on his trip to Italy in 1494 1495,
and the first two editions were published in 1498 in Nuremberg, Germany, in both German and Latin.

This is due to the use of a tool, a burin, to create extremely thin and subtle lines in an engraving. The
medium used for an engraving is metal and is created using an intaglio method. Unlike the relief
process of printmaking, this process is a positive one. The artist scratches the image onto the metal
plate, inks the surface of it, and wipes it clean. As a result, ink is placed into the carved out drawing.
Next, the plate is run through a roller press which causes the ink to absorb to the paper. The difference
in appearance between a relief print and an intaglio print is because of essentially drawing the image
to be created onto the metal plate for an intaglio print. Also cross hatching, the use of fine parallel
lines to create the illusion of shade, allowed for more subtle shading in the engraving. This engraving
portrays the melancholy personality of artists and Durer, himself. It is suggested that the winged figure
represents Durer because of the location of his monogram or logo underneath the bench that figure is
sitting on. Her pondering stance represents an artistic genius who is looking for inspiration, but cannot
find it, therefore experiences despair in her/himself. The winged child sitting to the left of the winged
female, represents anxiety that the uninspired artist could be experiencing. In addition, in the upper
left corner, a bat is found with the words melencholia beside it. The bat represents melancholy because
it only appears or comes out at night and is linked with the darkness. Durer contrasts melancholy and
the light of inspiration by associating this bat in the dark sky with rays of light. Essentially, because of
the wood medium used in the Whore Of Babylon, lines appear broader, whereas using metal as a
medium allowed the Melencollia engraving to display more subtle lines and

William Brickman and Paulo Freire
William Brickman and Paulo Freire were two famous educators that brought their own ideas and
contributions to the education field. They shared some similarities, differences, challenges, and an
overall positive impact on education that is with us today.
The contribution of Brickman and Freire
Brickman s Contribution
Brickman thought it was essential to have comparative education, which is the idea that professionals
in the education field be exposed to different cultures, living in a different country, learning to speak
the language, sharing and gaining knowledge with their counterparts, and gaining insight in the
diversity of education.( Silova Brehm,2010) Brickman founded the Comparative education society. He

decide what they will teach and what the learner will learn. Dialogue is the term used to describe a

one another. (Flanagan, 2005)
Similarities between Brickman and Freire
Both men were raised in lower socioeconomic neighborhoods. Brickman was raised in the Lower East
side of New York, where he was exposed to a variety of multilingual languages, media, and parents
who spoke a variety of languages. Brickman as a young child was exposed to different cultures and
history. (Silova Brehm, 2010). Freire s family found themselves in financial crisis after the Wall Street
crashed in 1929 and his father took a financial loss that resulted in the family moving to a lower
socioeconomic area in Brazil. (Flanagan, 2005). This financial crisis allowed Freire to witness
firsthand the poverty of the peasants and the effect it had on their education. (Flanagan, 2005). The
similarities of both educators living in poor conditions seemed to be a motivator for both men s
contribution to the education field.
The differences between Brickman and Freire
Brickman focused on comparative education, and promoting the idea of professionals in education to

The Concept Of Cardinal Change
Legal Research Assignment
My legal research paper is on the concept of Cardinal change. Cardinal change is one of three legal
classifications of change. A change is define as followed; Any alteration to a contract permitted by the
Changes clause of a contract. (Nash, Scooner, O Brien, 2007). Most construction contracts contain a
clause governing changes that allows the owner to change or modify the work required under the
contract documents. (Loulakis Santiago, 2001). When clause mentioned above is included in the
contractor it means the contractor is typically required to perform the change. Now a cardinal change
is considered a major change to the contract. A Cardinal change is define as followed; A change that is

contract with the Army Chemical Corps to make over 1100 smoke generators which were designated

Yes, the contain the clause governing changes that allowed Army Chemical Corps to change or modify
the work required but Air A Plane Corporation did not expect such a large number of changes. This
belief was based principally on the fact that the contract, by way of detailed and comprehensive
specifications and drawings, described the contract items minutely. This belief was apparently also
based in part upon the fact that the contract was a fixed price contract. (Justia, 1969). For the first
issue the board found that a large number of changes were made after the contract was awarded.
Whether they look at the number Air A Plane Corporation submitted or the one Army Chemical Corps
submitted, the number was still large. The first change

The Assyrians and Cyrus Essay
INTRODUCTION At its height, the ancient Assyrian Empire stretched from the north in the upper
Tigris river valley, south to the northern tip of the Persian Gulf including Babylon, along the
Mediterranean Sea from Tarsus to Jerusalem and all the way down into Egypt to the city of Thebes.
This vast empire took several thousand years to build. Early settlements can be traced back to the
northern city of Nineveh around 5000 B.C. The success of this nearly 2000 year empire had a lot to do
with the way the rulers divided up the empire into states with local governors; a radical idea during
that time. The advances they made in the area of science and architecture were extremely important as
well. Unfortunately, the great Assyrian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

CONQUERORS The Assyrians were considered brutal conquerors that conducted their wars with
shocking ferocity. The leaders of these conquered cities were often interrogated, tortured, mutilated
and then finally killed. Everyone seemed to be generally frightened by the Assyrians when they saw
them on the horizon. Although their military and usurping tactics were greatly feared, they never
conquered a civilization to destroy it. They were in the business of acquiring cultures to enrich their
dynasty. They would conquer an area, secure it and start setting up local government. The government
would be responsible for re educating the subjects in their newly acquired heritage. This gave these
subjects a sense of belonging and pride. This also allowed for the greatest achievement of the Assyrian
Empire; the cultural unification of the Middle East. Not an easy task as can be seen today by the
turbulent violence and unrest. The Assyrians were very viscous to any group who revolted and tried to

The Temple Of Jupiter Optimus
Like the Etruscans and Greeks before them, the Romans are known for having constructed
monumental temples in highly visible locations. Situated atop the Capitoline Hill in the heart of the
ancient city of Rome, the Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus, shared with Juno Regina, and
Minerva, represented this tradition well. Before the iconic Temple became known as the Temple of
Jupiter Optimus Maximus, the site came to symbolize Rome s position as Caput Mundi, which
literally means head of the world . Unfortunately, neglect, spoliation, and eventual site adaptation
means that very little of the temple of Jupiter remains for us to study. Despite its disappearance over

powers without Saturn being able to find him. After he gets older, Jupiter returns home and battles
Saturn, freeing his brothers and sisters in the process. The gods overthrow the titans, making Jupiter
the king of the gods, Optimus Maximus.
Jupiter was praised under many names at the temple on Capitoline. He was known as Jupiter
Imperator, Jupiter Invictus, and Jupiter Triumphator. Jupiter Imperator meant Supreme General.
Leaders would visit the temple and make sacrifices for Jupiter to lead them into battle. Jupiter Invictus
meaning to be unconquerable or undefeated and Jupiter Triumphator meaning to be triumphant in
battle. These three epithets of Jupiter go hand in hand with his title Jupiter Optimus Maximus.
Optimus Maximus means Best and Greatest which is the only way to describe the king of the gods
who is a supreme general who is undefeated and triumphant. Jupiter also was worshipped as Jupiter
Victor which is pretty similar to the other epithets when it comes to battle. Before any battle, the
Roman Senate would wait for Jupiter s blessing so they could achieve victory. The Romans centered
their heart and soul around the worship of Jupiter and prayed that he would lead them into many
successful battles like he had done with his brothers and sisters against the titans many moons ago.

Analysis Of John Updike s A P
John Updike is viewed by his readers as a progressive voice in his work that promotes feminist issues.
He makes these issues stand out more evidently, rather than hidden, in order for the reader to realize
how women are viewed in society. From reading Updike s A P, the story sends the message to readers
of genders working together to strive for equality. If readers do not carefully and actively read A P
they may miss key messages about the power men hold over women, not just in society but in
literature as well. Even though Updike s A P seems to be a story about a teenager finally standing up
to his boss and quitting the job he hates, the tone used reveals the hidden message on how women are
in a male oriented world. The relationship between both men are women are shown as unequals, men
on the top and women always below them, Updike makes sure to open up the reader s eyes in
realizing the way females are being treated unfairly.
The first bathing suit girl who walks into the A P and catches Sammy s immediately looks at the
chunky girl with a two piece plaid bathing suit on that showed off her sweet broad soft looking can

Paula Hawkins, a well known British author, once said, I have lost control over everything, even the

Offred feels she is losing control over everything in her life. Offred lives in the Republic of Gilead. A
group of fundamentalists create the Republic of Gilead after they murder the President of the United

women s freedom. As a result, each woman is assigned a specific duty to perform in society. Offred s

quickly the time is passing. I am a wife of a loving husband and a mother of five children ranging in
age from 23 to 12 years. I have been serving the Lord since 1993. I currently work as an educational
therapist for a private center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
In August of this year, Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas were partially destroyed by the Great
Flood of 2016. More than 100,000 homes were flooded, and my family, along with thousands of
others, has been displaced. Our home is soon to be repaired (we pray!), which is a blessing
considering that many other homes received water in depths up to the ceiling rafters and cannot be
repaired. Students served by our center have been displaced, with some families relocating to other
states to seek shelter with extended family and friends. Yet, even with all of this devastation, I can see
that the Lord has used to flood waters to wash away much of the dissention that had come to the
forefront in our city. Nearly everyone is pulling together and showing the love of Christ as never
before to others... those with whom we share commonalities and those who are different from us. In

Drug Abuse In America Essay
Drug Abuse in America
Every citizen of the United States has been affected by drug abuse. Be it directly or indirectly we have
all felt the negative effects on our society, our economy, and our safety. Why do Americans abuse
drugs? There seems little progress toward an answer considering illicit drug use has gone from 8.3%
to 9.4% since 2002. Clearly, we are no closer to a solution than we were fourteen years ago. One
reason so many Americans use illicit drugs is the ease of availability. There is a near unlimited supply
of drugs and people willing to sell them, especially in low income areas. Additionally, it is easy to
purchase narcotics anonymously on the deep web. Another cause of drug abuse is self medication.
People with depression or who are in pain often medicate their symptoms with illicit drugs. It is
estimated that over 52% of drug related deaths in the U.S. are due to prescription drugs. While some
deaths can be attributed to suicide, many result from incorrect dosage. People often take drugs with

deaths from opioid overdose is alarming, said CDC Director Tom Frieden. The opioid epidemic is
devastating American families and communities. To curb these trends and save lives, we must help
prevent addiction and provide support and treatment to those who suffer from opioid use disorders.

Abstract: Incidence rate of skin cancer are increasing day by day. Skin cancer is one of the deadliest
forms of cancer but detected earlier can save the life time of the human being. An automated screening
system is introduced to identify the presence of skin cancer in advance. In this paper, texture
distinctiveness lesion segmentation algorithm is used. Experience and training based characteristics of
back propagation neural network is used with texture distinctiveness lesion segmentation algorithm,
for identifying the normal and abnormal portions of skin .The most commonly occurring skin cancers
are Melanoma, Basal and squamous cell carcinoma and actinic keratosis. The proposed system is to
diagnose the presence of these skin cancers with high segmentation accuracy.

Ever since I was a child, I have harbored a wholehearted passion for mathematics. Whether it was

Gender And Gender Roles In The Media
Media plays a huge role in creating social norms. There are several forms of media: Press, radio,
films, internet and television that are all contributing factors in creating gender roles. Television is
probably the most developing medium, with the internet on its heels. Television, with its sitcoms,
advertisements and children s shows, have a huge influence on manipulating people s attitudes and
opinions on how we view the world. People tend to believe what they continuously see, and with time
people think it s the normal way of life and the way it s supposed to be. It is essential to ensure that
what the media shows and the message it sends, is appropriate.
In media, especially television, there is a way that each gender is represented, based on the
stereotypical nature that society has classified as male and female. Men on television are strong, tough
and powerful, both academically and physically as expected by society and represented on Television.
Men are predicted to come out victorious and conquer everything in its path. Females, on the other
hand are supposed to be submissive, caring and emotional as well as supportive to those around them
and their male counterparts. Females generally make life more comfortable in their television roles.
Gender roles are generally neither positive nor negative; they are simply inaccurate generalizations of
the male and female attributes. Since each person has individual desires, thoughts and feelings
regardless of their gender,

Compare And Contrast The Movie And Beowulf Essay
Comparative Essay: Beowulf The Book and The Movie
Beowulf, a hero, which is a savior figure. He stands up for a cause and belief against great odds. When
Beowulf was composed, England was changing from a pagan to a Christian culture. Beowulf reflects
both pagan and Christian traditions. In this essay, I will compare the 2007 British American 3D
motion film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Neil Gaines And Roger Avary, and also the
book version mentioning the personality of Beowulf, Grendel, Grendel s mom and the battle with the
dragon. In the movie and poem Beowulf s personality is shown differently and expressed in a different
form. In the movie and poem Beowulf there was many differences and similarities that were
noticeable such as the portrayal of Grendel s mother, Grendel being the son of Hrothgar, and Beowulf
s battle with the dragon.
In the 2007 movie, other than the setting and plot, it was totally different from the original poem, It
was very entertaining but didn t follow the original poem. Grendel s mother was a beautiful Angelina
Jolie while in the book she was very often described as a grimy slimy monster. The similarities were
when Beowulf s heroic characteristics and the severing of Grendel s arm ; however, the movie
mentioned the seductive scene of Grendel s mother and how the product of this sin is his son the
dragon, while in the text this beast is regarded as a rogue monster. As mentioned in the poem, Beowulf

Cenozoic era, that the conspicuous fold and thrust belt of the central and southern
Appalachians formed as the result of the mid carboniferous collision of Euroamerica with

At the point of impact between the Euroamerica and Gondwanaland plates, immense pressure turned
igneous and sedimentary rock into metamorphic rock which proceeded to break in numerous places.
The resulting fold and thrust belt were exceedingly susceptible to weathering and erosion by means of
wind and water. Streams began to flow along weak layers that define the folds and faults and carved
the resistant folded rocks of the mountain core creating karst geologic structures.
The karst regions of Virginia exist today in a stillmountainous region is a zone of low temperature

The Food And The Dining Program
Food, in the end, in our own tradition, is something holy. It s not about nutrients and calories. It s
about sharing. It s about honesty. It s about identity (Louise Fresco). Most humans, including myself,
enjoy eating good food. When food is less than satisfactory and people have to eat that same food on a
regular basis, they tend to get sick of it. That is the problem I am currently facing in my second
semester at MNU. The food was decent for a while, but the dining program lacks variety and quality.
Though the dining program is below average now, I believe that it can be greatly improved by adding
new items to the menu, serving the fan favorites more often, and increasing the quality of the food.
By far, food is one of the most important things in this world. Most living things cannot survive
without it. Not only is it necessary for life, but it something that is universally loved by everyone and
everything. Some animals kill for food and some humans are even willing to fight and kill for it. All

  • 2. Black Masculinity Growing up in a city with a lot of crime and illegal activity, it is hard to stay focused on what is important. Morehouse College is one of the top ranked institutions in the country that focuses on the issue of black masculinity. Notable alumni, including Martin Luther King Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, and Spike Lee once sat in the same chairs and walked the same halls. Morehouse College strives to turn boys into men. Within four years of constant work, some transform and others cannot take the pressure. Even though not all black men abuse and/or look down on women, Black men in today s generation are constantly being stereotyped based upon past situations because not all black men are criminals and not all Caucasian men are preachers. • 3. Office Space Facts 1. Gather the Facts The premise of the movie Office Space is about a group of workers, Peter, Michael, Samir, Tom, and Milton, work at Initech who are fed up with their jobs. The movie starts with Peter, the protagonist, going through his typical day of work at Initech. Various annoyances have been accumulating and Peter views his days at work as a waste of time and has no motivation to do anything productive. In addition to these brewing issues, Peter s boss, Bill Lumbergh, is known for being a stickler to rules, however trivial they may be. For example, when Peter forgets to include the cover sheet to a TPS report, not only does Lumbergh personally talk to Peter to remind him about the cover sheet for future reports, but also sends the next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were angry and frustrated by the way the company had treated them throughout their employment and especially during the layoff process. Instead of seeking revenge by skimming from the company s bank account, they could have chosen alternative methods to resolve their frustrations and dissatisfactions. For example, they could have filed suit against the company for wrongful termination. The men also could have chosen to write a letter to the higher level managers at the company to inform them about the waste of resources and general mismanagement they came across while working under Bill Lumbergh. Additionally, the men may have chosen to take the high road and begun looking for other employment opportunities. Lastly, since technically only Samir and Michael were being fired and Peter was being promoted, Peter could have hired them back at a later date, were they to be needing jobs and the company needing ... • 4. William Shakespeare Character Analysis I m a huge nerd about Shakespeare.William Shakespeare is someone who has had a profound impact upon the consciousness and culture of the entire English speaking world. His plays are the foundation for some of the greatest movies and TV shows that we have including many of our english words and many phrases and ideas that we commonly use come directly from Shakespeare. However, there are many who wonder who he really is and many people speculate that the man they call William Shakespeare is not actually the author of the plays and sonnets attributed to his name. I do not agree and I am in firm belief that William Shakespeare is the one who wrote the plays. William Shakespeare as we know him was born in Stratford, a village on the Avon river in the county of Warwickshire in England. We have no actual records of when he was born, however we do have a record of when he was baptized, which was on April 26 1564. He was the eldest surviving son of a glove maker, John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. At the age of eighteen he married Anne Hathaway and until 1592, when he resurfaced again in the London theatre scene. The first point of evidence in the authorship conflict is that Shakespeare s name is on the plays and poems he wrote. Tom Kathman and David Reedy point this out in their book. How We Know That Shakespeare Wrote Shakespeare: The Historical Facts. In 1593, the narrative poem Venus and Adonis was published by Stratford native Richard Field, with a dedication to the Earl of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Kodak Options Memo In my March 6 memo, I discussed the need for Kodak to revamp its core strategy and regain popularity. Eastman Kodak has been the leader of photography and printing products for nearly 130 years. Over the last few years Kodak has been in distress due to its poor fundamental shift into the digital age. Lack of strategic creativity led Kodak to misunderstand the industry in which it was operating. This lack of strategic creativity was costly for Kodak. This memo will explore the options I briefly discussed in the previous memo, in order to find a solution to this problem. Each option will be assessed based on the same criteria. The options to consider are: * Hire a new CEO new bolder leadership * Enter into a new aggressive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These profits can be achieved through tracking consumer needs and maintaining efficiency within the value chain. The option can revamp its line of attack to surpass current expectations. Though this option has a high level of risk, if successful, would implement a drastic change to Kodak s strategy and overall performance for the good of company leaders, employees, and stakeholders. The new CEO will be evaluated after one year by leaders, employees, and stakeholders. Option 2: Enter into a new aggressive market Kodak currently has no position within the ink market. The ink business is a $45 billion a year sector that could regenerate Kodak s position in the printing sector. The market for ink is dominated by HP, followed by Epson, Canon, and Lexmark. Entering a complete new market may be beneficial in its current position. According to Kodak, the greatest obstacle to printing at home is the cost of ink and supplies. Kodak can develop a cost efficient solution that will be more appealing to consumers. With the launch of this product, Kodak must focus on several sectors of business: marketing, pricing, distribution, and production. Onesource (2011). * Marketing Kodak is the world s foremost imaging innovator. Its reputation in the film printing business is dominant. Introducing a new line of cost efficient printer ink will be effective and popular. Kodak s target market will include anyone with a household printer. Kodak s goal will focus ... • 6. Judith Beheading Holofernes The artist Artemisia Gentileschi, the year 1598 99, painted on canvas with oil paint. This painting called Judith Beheading Holofernes is know as a baroque painting because of its use of shading the background completely black to draw focus to characters, it also displays a wide variety of emotions. The subject of Judith Beheading Holofernes is simple and is right in the title, it s about Judith over powering Holofernes, choking him with ribbon and later taking his head off. This is a very powerful statement that can hold meaning even today. Now I do not know much of the history behind this painting but I can tell that what ever Holofernes did was wrong and Judith was manipulated, or at least pushed, to kill him in his sleep by the old lady ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The eye starts on Judith s face and moves down her left arm on to Holofernes face then travel up her right arm and into the old lady s face, which lets the viewer mover through the whole painting. Next is contrast: the dark background lets the view know that the background is not important and the bright characters are what they should focus on and this correlates witch the Von Restoff effect. Judith s face also falls on an intersection in the rule of thirds, and the different texture of skin, and fabrics are realistic. The viewer can really tell what is cloth, silk, wool, yarn, and what kind of hair everyone in the painting has. However, what does it for me is the colors, the deep red curtain that s about to fall on Holofernes body when he is dying shows more of the symbolism that he is dying than the action of Judith choking him. The darker skin tone of the old lady and darker tone in her clothes to show her age but also says that she not one of wealth. The vibrant coloration of Judith showing her purity, also the brown of her clothing being not of a bright color gives me the feeling that she is a housewife or a plain Jane. The colors do more than tell whom the characters are it also shows every fold and defines the human body with the differences in tone. It gives shape to the agonizing pain in Holofernes face, the questioning face of Judith, and the assured face of the old lady. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Typically, protagonists are given a superficial challenge to overcome. However, as the story progresses, some characters undergo an unforeseen expedition within themselves. Classic movies, such as Finding Nemo, exhibit this common phenomenon. Finding Nemo follows the quest of a clownfish as he embarks on the journey to find his son. Even though Marlin originally sought out to locate his lost child, he soon began his internal journey of trust. Marlin, one of the protagonists, is the standard overprotective parent. He most likely inherited his vigilant behaviors following the tragic incident of losing a great portion of his family. One night, Marlin and his wife were attacked by a barracuda, leaving Marlin unconscious. Kim and Mauborgne explains how innovative companies beat their competitors by creating products or services for which there aren t any present. With value innovation it doesn t mean that a company develops or creates new goods or services. The goal of value innovation is to create new demands in efforts to change the market as well as make competitors irrelevant. Value innovation can improve existing services as well as lower the cost for the company and their customers. When thinking of computers imagine they are as big as the tallest building or stadium. While the size of those computers posed problems, there was the one thing that made them worse: every computer had a different operating system. Software was customized to serve a certain purpose, and software didn t run from one system to another. This was painful for both the system administrators and users alike. Computers were so expensive back then, and so many sacrifices had to made even after the original big purchase just to get the users to understand how the parts worked together. • 12. The Republic, By Plato Essay In one of his most widely read texts, the Republic, Plato sets out to explore the very nature of the concept of Justice, the various forms it takes in the world, and its relevance to the lives of men. As Socrates states, it is about the way we ought to live (I 352d). The dialogue begins by introducing the commonly held view of justice, via Thrasymachus, Glaucon and Adeimantus, as the non performance of certain types of unlawful or antisocial acts. However, the entire treatise quickly moves on to concentrate on a different meaning of justice, as a form of moral virtue. He wishes to demonstrate that justice and morality are interconnected because humans can only achieve a good life which he claims is the best way to live if they have those things that are desirable in themselves (II 357b). Therefore Plato s argument, as it sets out to prove the intrinsic value of living a just life, is neither deontological, nor consequentialist. In the Republic, Plato is arguing for the transcendent value of justice as a human good, or virtue, which informs and guides moral conduct. Plato bases his argument on a new and unique understanding of what justice is and how morally sensitive people are able to learn about the real nature of justice, morality and other virtues. He believes that it is necessary to grasp the true or intrinsic nature of certain virtues in order to make accurate judgements about the appropriate way to act in relation to others, justice and the collective good. ... I was confused to why there were three different parts to it and they were broken up as if they were supposed to be a new verse. When I asked the leader of the class she couldn t give me an explanation. With the research I have done I feel that I have come to a conclusion as to which ending is the most correct and why there are multiple endings. When the Sabbath was over, Mary the mother of James, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb where Jesus had been buried. A large stone closed off the entrance and when they arrived the stone had been moved. An angel appeared to them and told them not to be alarmed for Jesus had risen. But, they were alarmed and when the angel told them to go tell the disciples and Peter that Jesus had risen they were afraid, ran away, and didn t tell anyone. The gospel of Mark ends rather abruptly at verse 16:8, in the middle of a sentence but according to Mann the beginning also started very abruptly means it could still have been written by Mark. In this ending Mary and Mary the mother of James are headed to the tomb where Jesus has been buried, they are bringing spices to anoint the body of Jesus. The medium used for an engraving is metal and is created using an intaglio method. Unlike the relief process of printmaking, this process is a positive one. The artist scratches the image onto the metal plate, inks the surface of it, and wipes it clean. As a result, ink is placed into the carved out drawing. Next, the plate is run through a roller press which causes the ink to absorb to the paper. The difference in appearance between a relief print and an intaglio print is because of essentially drawing the image to be created onto the metal plate for an intaglio print. Also cross hatching, the use of fine parallel lines to create the illusion of shade, allowed for more subtle shading in the engraving. This engraving portrays the melancholy personality of artists and Durer, himself. It is suggested that the winged figure represents Durer because of the location of his monogram or logo underneath the bench that figure is sitting on. Her pondering stance represents an artistic genius who is looking for inspiration, but cannot find it, therefore experiences despair in her/himself. The winged child sitting to the left of the winged female, represents anxiety that the uninspired artist could be experiencing. In addition, in the upper left corner, a bat is found with the words melencholia beside it. The bat represents melancholy because it only appears or comes out at night and is linked with the darkness. Durer contrasts melancholy and the light of inspiration by associating this bat in the dark sky with rays of light. Although their military and usurping tactics were greatly feared, they never conquered a civilization to destroy it. They were in the business of acquiring cultures to enrich their dynasty. • 25. The Temple Of Jupiter Optimus Like the Etruscans and Greeks before them, the Romans are known for having constructed monumental temples in highly visible locations. Situated atop the Capitoline Hill in the heart of the ancient city of Rome, the Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus, shared with Juno Regina, and Minerva, represented this tradition well. Before the iconic Temple became known as the Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus, the site came to symbolize Rome s position as Caput Mundi, which literally means head of the world . Unfortunately, neglect, spoliation, and eventual site adaptation means that very little of the temple of Jupiter remains for us to study. After he gets older, Jupiter returns home and battles Saturn, freeing his brothers and sisters in the process. The gods overthrow the titans, making Jupiter the king of the gods, Optimus Maximus. Jupiter was praised under many names at the temple on Capitoline. He was known as Jupiter Imperator, Jupiter Invictus, and Jupiter Triumphator. Jupiter Imperator meant Supreme General. Leaders would visit the temple and make sacrifices for Jupiter to lead them into battle. Jupiter Invictus meaning to be unconquerable or undefeated and Jupiter Triumphator meaning to be triumphant in battle. These three epithets of Jupiter go hand in hand with his title Jupiter Optimus Maximus. Optimus Maximus means Best and Greatest which is the only way to describe the king of the gods who is a supreme general who is undefeated and triumphant. Jupiter also was worshipped as Jupiter Victor which is pretty similar to the other epithets when it comes to battle. Before any battle, the Roman Senate would wait for Jupiter s blessing so they could achieve victory. The Romans centered their heart and soul around the worship of Jupiter and prayed that he would lead them into many successful battles like he had done with his brothers and sisters against the titans many moons ago. 3) Worshippers The temple of ... • 26. Analysis Of John Updike s A P John Updike is viewed by his readers as a progressive voice in his work that promotes feminist issues. He makes these issues stand out more evidently, rather than hidden, in order for the reader to realize how women are viewed in society. From reading Updike s A P, the story sends the message to readers of genders working together to strive for equality. If readers do not carefully and actively read A P they may miss key messages about the power men hold over women, not just in society but in literature as well. Even though Updike s A P seems to be a story about a teenager finally standing up to his boss and quitting the job he hates, the tone used reveals the hidden message on how women are in a male oriented world. The relationship between both men are women are shown as unequals, men on the top and women always below them, Updike makes sure to open up the reader s eyes in realizing the way females are being treated unfairly. The first bathing suit girl who walks into the A P and catches Sammy s immediately looks at the chunky girl with a two piece plaid bathing suit on that showed off her sweet broad soft looking can (Updike 157). I have learned so much in this short time and cannot believe how quickly the time is passing. I am a wife of a loving husband and a mother of five children ranging in age from 23 to 12 years. I have been serving the Lord since 1993. I currently work as an educational therapist for a private center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In August of this year, Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas were partially destroyed by the Great Flood of 2016. More than 100,000 homes were flooded, and my family, along with thousands of others, has been displaced. Our home is soon to be repaired (we pray!), which is a blessing considering that many other homes received water in depths up to the ceiling rafters and cannot be repaired. Students served by our center have been displaced, with some families relocating to other states to seek shelter with extended family and friends. Yet, even with all of this devastation, I can see that the Lord has used to flood waters to wash away much of the dissention that had come to the forefront in our city. Be it directly or indirectly we have all felt the negative effects on our society, our economy, and our safety. Why do Americans abuse drugs? There seems little progress toward an answer considering illicit drug use has gone from 8.3% to 9.4% since 2002. Clearly, we are no closer to a solution than we were fourteen years ago. One reason so many Americans use illicit drugs is the ease of availability. There is a near unlimited supply of drugs and people willing to sell them, especially in low income areas. Additionally, it is easy to purchase narcotics anonymously on the deep web. Another cause of drug abuse is self medication. People with depression or who are in pain often medicate their symptoms with illicit drugs. It is estimated that over 52% of drug related deaths in the U.S. are due to prescription drugs. There are several forms of media: Press, radio, films, internet and television that are all contributing factors in creating gender roles. Television is probably the most developing medium, with the internet on its heels. Television, with its sitcoms, advertisements and children s shows, have a huge influence on manipulating people s attitudes and opinions on how we view the world. People tend to believe what they continuously see, and with time people think it s the normal way of life and the way it s supposed to be. It is essential to ensure that what the media shows and the message it sends, is appropriate. In media, especially television, there is a way that each gender is represented, based on the stereotypical nature that society has classified as male and female. Men on television are strong, tough and powerful, both academically and physically as expected by society and represented on Television. Men are predicted to come out victorious and conquer everything in its path. Females, on the other hand are supposed to be submissive, caring and emotional as well as supportive to those around them and their male counterparts. In this essay, I will compare the 2007 British American 3D motion film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Neil Gaines And Roger Avary, and also the book version mentioning the personality of Beowulf, Grendel, Grendel s mom and the battle with the dragon. In the movie and poem Beowulf s personality is shown differently and expressed in a different form. In the movie and poem Beowulf there was many differences and similarities that were noticeable such as the portrayal of Grendel s mother, Grendel being the son of Hrothgar, and Beowulf s battle with the dragon. In the 2007 movie, other than the setting and plot, it was totally different from the original poem, It was very entertaining but didn t follow the original poem. Grendel s mother was a beautiful Angelina Jolie while in the book she was very often described as a grimy slimy monster. The similarities were when Beowulf s heroic characteristics and the severing of Grendel s arm ; however, the movie mentioned the seductive scene of Grendel s mother and how the product of this sin is his son the dragon, while in the text this beast is regarded as a rogue monster. At the point of impact between the Euroamerica and Gondwanaland plates, immense pressure turned igneous and sedimentary rock into metamorphic rock which proceeded to break in numerous places. • 39. The Food And The Dining Program Food, in the end, in our own tradition, is something holy. It s not about nutrients and calories. It s about sharing. It s about honesty. It s about identity (Louise Fresco). Most humans, including myself, enjoy eating good food. When food is less than satisfactory and people have to eat that same food on a regular basis, they tend to get sick of it. That is the problem I am currently facing in my second semester at MNU. The food was decent for a while, but the dining program lacks variety and quality. Though the dining program is below average now, I believe that it can be greatly improved by adding new items to the menu, serving the fan favorites more often, and increasing the quality of the food. By far, food is one of the most important things in this world. Most living things cannot survive without it. Not only is it necessary for life, but it something that is universally loved by everyone and everything. Some animals kill for food and some humans are even willing to fight and kill for it. All that being said, it s clear that food is important to people and it should be treated accordingly. At the moment, the dining program at MNU is not getting the job done, and it could definitely use some changes. One change that the dining hall could benefit from is adding new items to the menu. Currently, MNU serves the same things for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast consists of either pancakes or french toast, hash browns or potato wedges, and eggs. Then lunch comes ...
