Discount and Hawkins
Discount and Hawkins Case
Case Synopsis
The subject matter of the case is presented as a negotiation between a real estate developer,
Hawkins, and a possible anchor tenant, Discount Marketplace. Both parties are represented by
professional negotiators: Myra Hart is representing the Hawkins Company and Genia is
representing the Discount Marketplace. The Hawkins Company is a real estate developer, who is
operating across UK, offering different types of services, such as: Mortgages, Energy Performance
Certificates, Sales and Lettings. They are interested in having Discount Marketplace as a tenant in a
proposed shopping center. The Discount Marketplace is an innovative national retailer with the
main activity focused on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Developer wished that the Retailer would deal only with soft goods, and asked them to use
same product mix for all locations around the country. The proposal was declined because the
Retailer felt it was limiting to deal with only soft goods. Retailer wanted to be free in selecting
the type of goods and services. Their argument was that they needed to be more flexible
regarding their product mix in order to achieve innovation and to follow their advertising
strategy. Also the Retailer didn t agree to use the same product mix across country because their
main activity was based around a strategy of adapting the product mix. In order to get to an
agreement the Developer suggested limiting the activity to some percentage of the operation area.
They offered a limit of 10 15% for trial. The Retailer accepted the offer and issue was solved.
2. Operating Covenant Developer s concern about the contract duration was that the Discount
Marketplace would operate for only as long as the business would be viable. Their aspiration level
was to sign the contract for a period of minimum 15 years and their soft constrain was to sign the
contract for a minimum of 10 years. Developer needed to be sure that the retailer would perform
the best they can and they needed to be safe in case the Marketplace wanted to make sudden
changes after signing the contract, like changing the location too soon. The Retailer s aspiration
level was to have the contract

The Ethics Of The Bhopal Disaster
In the Business Ethics Foundation Terms class (September 2nd 2014), we discussed the ethical
implications of the Bhopal disaster on December 2nd and 3rd, 1983. A plant that belonged to
Union Carbide subsidiary had a chemical explosion, killing 10,000 lives (conservatively) and
affecting the livelihood of local and their descendants. Although many reasons have been offered up
to try to explain this disaster such as the poor establishment of the manufacturing plant, less
stringent labor laws, non exist environment laws, as well as the negligence in educating the public
and medical facilities in Bhopalabout the fatality of the pesticide. It is my opinion that the
government should also have placed strict boundary rules to limit populations moving into the
possible disaster zone. The government of Indias negligence lies in one or both of the following:
not assessing the risk of building a manufacturing plant close to a populated city, ignoring the
assessed risk inherent in the chemicals being manufactured, and jeopardizing the environment and
population of Bhopal. This is not to say that the Union Carbide and its subsidiary were blameless,
however the Government of India s lack of responsibility for its citizens can be proved when they
underrepresented the victims in the UCC s settlement actions in 1989. Due to these reasons, I will
argue in the following paragraphs that the Government of India has more responsibility than Union
Carbide in not only the tragedy but also for

Louis Armstrong Song Analysis
Summary: Louis Armstrong singing is remarkable. I can understand why he inspired so many
people in the music industry. What I love about this album is his singing and his form in trumpet
playing. Listening to Armstrong voice, as well as his lyrics, flushes away my sorrow when I
listen to What a Wonderful World and Sittin in the Sun. These types of songs help me appreciate
what I have. Armstrong duet with Bing Cosby is adorable. Gone Fishin song has humor, in
addition, both man scats singing makes me smile. Armstrong and Cosby voices work well in
numerous levels together. When you Smile (The World Smile with you) is one of my favorites. I
can never get enough of this song. The way Armstrong plays his trumpet is truly tremendous the
timing of his trumpet playing with his notes is on point.

National Security Is More Important Than Human Rights
National Security is More Important than Human Rights
The conception of human rights and freedoms is the cornerstone of American traditions, law and
the indicator of democracy. The approach of prevailing interest in personal privacy, property
privacy and non interference of state authorities in private affairs is the basic ground for modern
organization of American society. For centuries the courts have been standing safeguards of
protection of persons against unreasonable intrusion of the State, generally interpreting the
Constitution and the Bill of Rights with preference of personal human rights protection. Nonetheless
in the end of the 21st century there appeared several factors which so much influenced our society
that the matters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In most of the cases opposing the concept of human rights to national security is erroneous and
unreasonable construction because the national security is the concept which precludes the
physical and mental security of all members of the society, and therefore includes and
predetermines the possibility of exercising human rights and freedoms. Without security the well
being is impossible.
Looking at the national security vs. human rights question from the points of view of internal and
external national security, one should first examine what concrete human rights may be waived or
limited for the homeland security and protection purposes. Natural human rights like the right for
life are not the subject to address in this essay. The rights addressed in this essay are defined
primarily in the U.S. Bill of Rights. These are civil right for privacy, the right of peaceful protest,
the right to personal freedom, the right to a fair trial and the right of equal protection, usually in the
list of the rights which under certain conditions may be waived for the efficiency of homeland
security and protection.
The first argument supporting the statement that national security is more important than protection
of individual rights is the increased threat of terroristic attacks, which are very dangerous, carefully
planned, locally targeted and generously funded

Duel Language Learning English Language Research Paper
Nearly all schools in America serve students of different cultures, yet the way that we teach in
these schools does not reflect that at all. Schools are struggling to teach in ways that foster the
learning of all students, primarily because almost all teachers in American schools are White,
middle class females, who have never needed to teach diversely before. With an ever increasing
percentage of diverse people in the United States, this White European style of teaching needs to
be altered, so that all children are able to learn and feel comfortable in their schoolenvironment. The

As a future teacher of ELL students, I have learned some awesome techniques to help me
encourage the development of both of the languages that they are learning, as well as helping
them to be successful in school. One piece of information that I want to take away from this
chapter is that each culture views how American s teach in a different way, and as a future
educator, it is my responsibility to ensure that not only the children feel comfortable with the
way that I teach, but that the parents do also. I know that it is going to be impossible to make
sure that each parent feels comfortable with every teaching strategy that I use, but that they
know that I am trying to make an effort to include their culture in my classroom. One way that I
have thought about doing this is to do home visits before school starts. This will allow me to
explain to the parents what my goals are or the school year and ask for their opinion. I am a
huge advocate for parent feedback, so I would love to hear what they have to say! I love the idea
of teaching a culturally diverse classroom, and yes, it will bring its challenges, but I feel that I

Cultural Value Of Food As Representing Advertisements For...
Cultural Value of Food as Represented in Advertisements for Dr. Pepper
Yulisa Garcia, Vanessa Rodriguez, Erika Garcia
Texas A M International University
Abstract
In this rhetorical analysis, the value of uniqueness and the use of flavors are expressed in an ad
by Dr. Pepper, a well known and popular company. These values are found within the appeals of
logos, pathos, and ethos. It also states the history of how this soft drink was created, the creator, and
the year it was created. Logos is expressed when the brand states that it contains 23 flavors and
also includes an image of a bottle with the number 23 as well with other phrases. Pathos is used in
the ad when the company states that no other drink has these flavors, which ... Show more content

First was logos, a tool which helps the audience to trust a publication based on its facts. It uses real
information to support the use of logic. Next was pathos, which appeals to the emotions or what
people are feeling. It connects with the audience by showing or interpreting something the audience
relates to or shows interest in. Lastly, ethos is to what extent the audience trusts an author by
relying on their word and reputation. The author s credentials support what they are trying to
convey or the message they are trying to send to the audience about an ad or announcement.
Historical Context
Created, manufactured, and sold as a unique flavor, Dr. Pepper is the oldest in soft drinks in
American history. Charles Alderton, the creator of Dr. Pepper in 1885, was a pharmacist at
Morrison s Old Corner Drug Store, in the small town of Waco, Texas, where he was in charge of
giving medication to the people in Waco. In his free time, he liked to work at the soda fountain
where he would serve carbonated drinks.
His greatest invention came from the idea of the smell of the different kind of fruit syrups, and
the smell of the drug store he worked in. After giving a sample test of his new drink to the owner
of the drug store, and him liking the taste of it, Alderton gave his invention a greater opportunity to
expand by offering it at the soda fountain. His creation of this soft drink was exceptional, like no
other drink, making other soda fountain operators

Ww1 Austria-Hungary Essay
On June 28, 1914, a Serbian nationalist (Gavrilo Princip) murdered Franz Ferdinand causing this to
be the outbreak of World War I the Archduke of Austria. A month after this incident, Austria
Hungary declared War on Serbia. Not only did this war spread like a wildfire, but it soon reached
towards Germany, Russia, Great Britain, and France causing them to join this skirmish. Mostly
because they were tangled in treaties; therefore, obliging them to protect the nation they were tied
to. Alongside the borders of Germany and Austria Hungary, western and eastern fronts rapidly
opened. Combat along both fronts entailed of daring attacks and swift troop activities. In the west,
Germany made France their target after attacking Belgium. Located in the East, Russia took the

members of each country of the Central Powers signed the armistice agreements individually;
however, Germany was the last to sign it on November 11th, 1918. Hence, due to these agreements,
Austria Hungary was separated into a number of smaller countries. Under the Treaty of Versailles,

Political Risks Of A Country And Micro Analysis
One of the first steps in managing political risks is to analyze the political environment for risks
to the business. According to Luthans, the analysis of risk can be done with two types of
political risk analysis, Macro and Micro Analysis. Macro Analysis is an analysis of political
ideas and decisions that will impact all businesses in a country and Micro Analysis is an analysis
of governmental regulations and policies that affect a specific sector of on economy or market
such as the auto industry (Luthans, 2015). However, there are other risks that can be more
difficult to analyze such as terrorism especially in today s political unrest. Some major
corporations have spent thousands of dollars on macro and micro analyses just to have a world
event disrupt or completely destroy operations. Tata motorsdealt with political battles as well as a
terrorist event. In a USA Today article titled India s Nano goes on sale Sharon Silke reported
that the Launch of was Six weeks late after political battle over the land where the car was to be

would affect its future success. When the Nano was first unveiled the economy was in a good
state where gas prices were rising and the world economy was becoming more stable. This would

Informative Speech About Magic
Are you interested in magic? If you are interested in magic, you should read this amazing book
series called Harry Potter. I have been learning about Harry Potter for a couple of years now, and I

what he likes to study, and what his powers are. To start off let me tell you how Harry Pottergot into

means Harry Potter got his letter on July 24, 1991, a week before his birthday. In real life though
it actually is the Britain school law to get a letter by the age of 11. They also accepted Harry

The French Health Care System
Introduction France, a member country of the Organization for Economic Co operation and
Development (OECD), has the total population around 63 million and steady growth rate around
0.7% (OECD, 2013). France has great performance in a number of measures of well being. For
instance, according to the OECD statistics (OECD, 2013), the average household net adjusted
disposable income of France is 28,310 USD per year, which is much more than the OECD
average (23, 047 USD). Compared to the OECD average employment rate between 15 and 64
years age, which is 66%, French slightly lower (64%). However, the number is still better than
most of the OECD countries such as the USA (OECD, 2013). In terms of health, life expectancy
at birth in France is 82 years, which is higher than the OECD average (80 years). Specifically, life
expectancy for females is 86 years while the figure for males is 79 (OECD, 2013). In 2000, the
World Health Organisation (WHO) generated the annual report of which the theme was the health
care system performance all over the world (WHO, 2000). This report specifically analysed the
performance of the healthcare systems of 191 countries and ranked based on a lot of criteria.
Surprisingly, the French health care system was ranked the first place for the overall performance.

Greeks Roles In Ancient Greek Culture
Ancient Greek culture has many commonalities with modern western culture. They both value an
individualistic society that glorifies intellectual, artistic and athletic prowess. The Greeks highly
valued in developing citizens and attaining glory for oneself. However, like with most of the ancient
cultures at this time, only the men were allowed to take the active roles in society. They
participated in everything from the arts to the military while the women, in contrast, were restricted
to their homes. In consequence, many their myths were frequently about men. In ancient India,
where Hinduism was predominant, the Hindu culture differed significantly from that of the Greeks.
Most of what they stood for was written in sacred scriptures that defined how they should live.
They held a rigid caste system... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Currently trust is something big which gossip, inappropriate images, secrets and personal issues,
but in the book the Odyssey trust was about trusting the gods and trusting that someone, a leader
maybe would save someone s life. Nowadays trust is about trusting a friend or someone doesn t

Modernism In Music
Throughout the early twentieth century, music began to take on a new role as society started to
progress and change. In society, music is an important part of culture and the forming of culture,
where people can assert and preserve their histories and experiences when facing a change in social
conditions. Modernism is defying convention to an extreme degree, disregarding boundaries
completely in rhythm and tonality, opening up doors that would eventually redefine the notion of
what constitutes music. America and Europe, pre and post WWI, both experienced drastic social
changes and technological advances which all contributed to the progression of modernism in
music. From segregation and the Great Immigration in America to the deconstruction of traditional
culture in Europe, and even the shared rise popularity in folk musicin both countries, modernism
announces itself as a prevalent and powerful voice in music which is seen through composers such
as Schoenberg, Stravinsky, Copland, and Bartok. In Europe, modernism in music is vastly seen in
Schoenberg, Stravinsky, and Bartok. At the end of the 19th century, traditional compositional rules
and techniques were proving to be more of a strain in conveying extreme shades of emotion and
meaning. While some composers decided to continue along the path of more traditional and
accepted compositions, others decided that they needed to branch off in different directions. In
London, 1902, Debussy introduced the concept of

My problem is defining what healthy eating really is? After putting Healthy Diet in my Google
search engine and getting over 25 million results, all claiming to have the answer I decided to do
my own research. I chose to look at the oldest people I know to see if there were any common
traits among them. The oldest being just a few months shy of her 100th birthday and the others
in their eighties and nineties. Now even though I am by no means a health expert or would I say
my research was even close to being accurate or scientific, I did find out what I believe are the two
most important factors to living a long life. Before we move on to them though first let me tell you

Council Manager form of government also known as the City Manager plan (City of
Melbourne, About Melbourne ). The Council Manager form of government was developed in 1908,

The City Council members try to concentrate on policy issues that are responsive to those
throughout the community. The City Council also focuses on the communities goals, projects
throughout the city, and some long term factors such as community growth, land development and
many other factors that could be affected by past policies or ordinances. The City Council
members affect policy in the city by helping to make decisions on what would be good for the city
as a whole, and trying to protect everyone s rights and wishes at the same time. The Mayor in
Council Manager communities plays a key role . The mayor is responsible for sharing views of
the city s citizens, forming policies and interpreting them to the public, he or she is also a
ceremonial leader. The mayor shows up at council meetings to assist the council in setting goals,

Terrorism from Above vs.Terrorism from Below
Terrorism from above is known as state terrorism, state terrorism is not always a straightforward
process in fact it is usually a covert, secret policy that allows states to claim deniability when
accused of sponsoring terrorism. There are several ways to spot terrorism from above and can be
included many different aspects. Sponsors of terrorismin terrorism from above, this means the state
actively promotes terrorism and has been deemed what the U.S. call a rogue state. There are also
enablers of state terrorism, enablers are states that operate in a manner to which being part of the
problem means not just failing to cooperate fully in countering terrorism, but also doing some
things that help enable it to occur. Links between regims and terrorism can range from very clear
lines of sponsorship to indefinable associations. When a government is using terrorism as an
instrument of statecraft they can often control the degree of their involvement so that any incidents
of terrorism cannot be traced back to the government. We can then conclude that state sponsorship
of terrorism is not as straightforward as it seems. It is usually a covert policy that allows for the
state to claim plausible deniability when accused of sponsoring terrorism. Because of these
parameters a distinction must be made between state patronage and assistance. State patronage for
terrorism refers to either participation and/or encouragement of terrorism and terrorist behavior. It
basically means

Pranic Healing was developed by Master Choa Kok Sui as a result of 20 yrs of research he

The Failure Of The American Prison System
TheFailure of the American Prison System The subject of prison evokes fearful and violent images
seen in movies or on television; outdated clichГ©s consisting of men eating stale bread and
drinking dirty water that are intended to repulse people and deter them from committing crimes and
ending up in such a position. Unfortunately, the reality of the American prisonsystem is just as
troubling as the dated stereotypes surrounding it. Despite its success in keeping dangerous
offenders off the streets, the modern prison system fails in fulfilling its original design of restoring
criminals to being productive members of society. It has proven to be an inefficient and ineffective
system by focusing on punishment over rehabilitation, leading to issues such as overcrowding,
wasting taxpayers money and a high recidivismrate. As children, most people learn obedience
through punishment. When we do something wrong one or several privileges are taken away by
our parents. Depending on the severity of a mistake, such punishment may last for a very short time
or in some cases it may even be permanent. Many parents inflict the common punishment of not
allowing their children to watch television for a certain amount of time. Such disciplinary methods
often prove to be positive learning experiences that teach children right from wrong and instill them
with values that prevent them from doing it again. Similarly, the United States prison system was
initially designed with the same basic

Concert Critique #1 I have never been personally a fan of the romantic orchestra music but going to
listen to a concert live is breathtaking. I attended the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra,
Masterpieces concert with music director Fouad Fakhouri performing Igor Stravinsky s Symphony
of Psalms and Gustav Mahler s Symphony No.1 in D major. There was a full stage of musicians
and a complete choir to back it up.
The first half of the performance was a complete orchestra of woodwinds, strings, drums, brass,
excreta and a four part choir. Overall the performance took no longer than thirty minutes to play the
three part Symphony of Psalms. This Symphony was much shorter than I was ... Show more content

Mr. Fakhouri had also explained how this is one of his favorite pieces and just had to have his
orchestra perfect, as they did successfully.
After a minor wobble of the director stand, a few adjustments and giggles, Symphony No.1 in D
major began. The first movement started off with an eerie introduction, with the first two notes
morphing into a birdcall as well as main theme but a very magical sound. It made for a very
soothing, romantic time. Throughout the piece I felt as if it told a story as most music does,
what I came to believe it was a love story. The Allegro begins in the cello with the second
Wayfarer song, Ging heut morgen Ubers Feld, (I Walked this Morning over the Field). With a
light and happy tone in the beginning as if two lovers had just met, this was the main theme of
this movement. Suddenly there was a deep, heavy part maybe one of despair in paradise but that
only lasted for a short period as it came to a victorious ending of happily ever after. (Kahn)
The second movement Scherzo, gave more of an elegant, royal ball sound. Where the women dress
in gowns and the men in tuxedos, while drinking wine and dancing the night away. This movement
has the rhythm of the Landler, an Australian folk dance. It conforms to the classic minuet and trio
form though Mahler takes the first section beyond the standard repeat structure. The first three
notes of the Scherzo and the Trio recall the birdcall theme from the first movement. If

Driving under the influence
Even though people who drink regularly feel there is no issue with driving after one or two
drinks, people should think about the severe consequences that come from driving under the
influence. Numerous people die every year due to intoxicated drivers. There are ways of avoiding
these life changing risks. Appointing a designated driver before drinking or calling an uber is a
smart way to plan ahead. Unfortunately not everyone takes the initiative to prevent these avoidable
circumstances.
There are a large number of wrecks due to drunk drivers. For example, In 2015, 10,265 people
died in alcohol impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one third (29%) of all traffic
related deaths in the United States (Impaired Driving). These crashes are not only harmful, but
can also be very expensive. People who drink and drive typically do not consider the potential costs
that will be incurred if pulled over by police, state highway patrol or sheriff deputies as well as
being involved in an accident or fatal car crash. Drunk driving costs the United States $199 billion
per year (Snyder). This includes the expense of road clean up, medical services, court cases,
insurance and much more. These costs are leading indicators of how extensive and severe drunk
driving is making a devastating financial impact on the American economy.

Analysis of Peter SkryneckiВґs Migrant Hostel and 10 Mary...
Through an individual s intrinsic desire to develop meaningful connections with society, place or
heritage, they forge their own sense of self identity by overcoming the barriers in place. In Peter
Skrzynecki s poetry, particularly Migrant Hostel and 10 Mary Street we witness an individual s
experience of segregation to eventual connection in the world they live.
Skrzynecki s insightful poem Migrant Hostel explores the notion of impermanence and uncertainty
in an individual s experience where stability is essential to develop an identity and sense of
belonging. The poem illustrates the disorientating nature of a migrant hostel where the people
within yearn for sanctuary in the Australian community. This idea is instantly reflected through the
negative connotations in no one kept count representing a sense of anonymity in the atmosphere
through a lack of individual significance. The enjambment and juxtaposition of the comings and
goings highlights the transient and uncertain nature of the hostel environment where they were left
wondering who would be coming next . The intrinsic desire of human nature to develop meaningful
bonds with people that share similar adversities is displayed through simile and symbol of a homing
pigeon circling to get its bearings . Furthermore, the alliteration in memories of hunger and hate
convey their previous experiences hindering their search for harmony and permission into the
broader community. This notion is further

These have been hot topics for sometime now but little seems to have happened so far in
regards to legislation and actual action. In the eyes of many free college is nothing more than a
dream at the moment and who could blame them, for alas the government is taking their time, in
no hurry to swiftly respond to the pleas of citizens. However there was a plan in the works that
Catherine Morris describes in her article Pay It Forward . She states, Obama proposed funding
Americas College Promise to the tune of $60 billion and paying for it with a series of taxes
including one controversial and short lived proposal to tax 529 college savings plans (13). This
shows that the government has some willingness to approach the issue, but most likely they have
found that it is going to be more difficult than imagined to apply reform in this area. Another plan
that is currently in use and has a controversial funding method is the Tennessee Promise which
supports college students who are going to attend community colleges for shorter lengths such as
two years. The gray areas start to come in with the funding. Scholarships for four year students are
cut to help students who will be in college for less time and who will subsequently acquire more
debt. Despite these criticisms they are a step in the right direction even if they lay on some
unsteady framework.

respectively. This illness is characterized by gradual increase in changes of perception, thinking,

difference in outcome between genders including symptom severity, age at onset and functional
outcome (as cited in Gogos, Kwek and van den Buuse, 2011, p. 213). For example, schizophrenia
occurs on average 1.5 4.5 earlier in men compared to women. Further evidence suggests that

Different Approaches For Managing Information System
8.2 COMBINED DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE: Basically there are two approaches to
manage Information System (IS) Personnel. They are: пѓ Combining the development and
maintenance into one part and is sub divided by functional areas. пѓ Advancement and
Maintenance individually. Combining the development and maintenance of system: In this
approach both development and maintenance are combined to organize Information System
Personnel (ISP). Generally, functional area sub divides an area into teams. Each team is assigned
to a system to complete the requests of new development and maintenance. This approach appears
to be logical as the division between new development and adaptive maintenance is arbitrary. The
advantages in this approach includes: пЃ¬Specialized and specific knowledge of functional areas.
пЃ¬Management of systems is easy as each system is assigned to a team. пЃ¬The system
developers and maintainers are same in this approach. пЃ¬The development and maintenance
continuity is a major advantage to manage the ISP. пЃ¬The experience of maintainers with actual
development increases hence there is a decrease in maintenance expenditure. Besides the
advantages there are some disadvantages also for this approach. The main disadvantage is the
maintenance requests tends to be bottleneck to the development cycle. This is because that
maintenance is process of solving or omission of errors and defects which is considered as urgent
situation. At this point the development stage acts as

Reflective Essay On Self Esteem
Self acceptance is an extremely prevalent issue that numerous people struggle with. It is one of
the hardest to surmount, for it is something I still struggle with to this day. Overall, my journey
is a working progress as it will perpetuate to have its downfalls to test me. Like many of my
generation, social media has played an excessively paramount role in our lives, both negatively
and positively. Sources of harmless entertainment have also unintentionally encouraged self
judgment. Be that as it may, my perspective has been widely opened unexpectedly through a
speaker s presentation as she showed us how to recognize our self worth. Confidence and self
esteem are hard to acquire for some, but it should not be a quantity you divest yourself of. Self
acceptance of all insecurities and doubts is paramount since every individual has a unique beauty
that should be cherished in order to pursue a life full of loveand jubilance.
During my sophomore year in high school, we had a Career Day with several guest speakers.
They had split us up by gender, the girls stayed on the right side of the school while the boys
stayed on the left. We could not enter the opposite sides considering we had presentations
concretely for each group. As the boys had speakers to discuss the development of a gentleman,
we had speakers addressing topics relating to makeup and on how to be a lady. Towards the end
of the day, my friends and I decided to choose our last presentation randomly. As we entered the
room, there was this resplendent woman with a surprisingly cordial atmosphere. She addressed
us as if we were her own children; you could sense the love she had for positivity before she even
commenced to speak. She gave us a background story of her childhood during our age, for she too
had struggled with accepting herself with all her insecurities. She described her several encounters
with bullying and how it had impacted her self esteem even though she appeared so vigorous and
confident. I admired that about her the most, not once did she ever show the slightest bit of
weakness, yet she too had relatable problems. Then she mandated us to indite down the worst

Analysis Of Ethical Decision And Scandal
Analysis of ethical reaction to scandal Introduction The reputation of an organization is crucial.
Therefore, being a leader of an organization has to be able to react efficiently and effectively
when there is a threat to organization s reputation. Occasionally, a leader has to face a dilemma,
whereby one has to decide how to deal with the scandals in the organizations. On one hand, some
organizations treat their customers as a mean to gather the profits. On the other hand, other
organizations regard their customers as an end, whereby the organizations really consider about
customers interests as an ultimate goal of their services. Nonetheless, only the companies that
mad the ethical actions survived. Lacking a focus on the welfare of their customers, some
propaganda techniques, aiming to cover up the scandals, usually don t work well. Instead,
successful public relationship management techniques generally treat their customers welfare as
an end not just a mean. For example, a successful crisis management usually contains the honesty
and quick reaction. Enron Corporation is a great example to illustrate how damaging it is if
company leaders try to hide up the scandals and lie to the public. From Kant s perspective,
customers, who are human beings objected to the service provided by organizations, should be
treated with dignity, as every rational being exists as an end in himself and not merely as a means
to be arbitrarily used by this or that will (Kant 428). Indeed,

Kaonashi s Symbol Of Social Alienation In Spirited Away
Third, there is a symbol of the expression of social alienation in Spirited Away . The character
who represents the social alienation is Kaonashi. He is a transparent, so no one cares about him
before Chihiro bows him and lets him in the house. We can have questions who is Kaonashi and
why Kaonashi is transparent. Transparency of this world means the alienation of the world. At
the scene when Sen was trying to escape from the spirit world, Chihiro becomes transparent and
almost disappears, so she should eat the food from the spirit world to join the group of the spirit
and work in the Onsen because of the social existence of this world. If she chooses to escape from
the spirit world, she may also be the transparent person like Kaonashi. Therefore,

Correlation Between Males And Females On Average
The goal of this paper is to determine who is more motivated between males and females on
average in reading. In one study females were considered more motivated and exhibited higher
mastery in reading. There were several factors that contributed to this conclusion, some being
biological and distinctly different from genderto gender. Boys were usually assessed as less
developed mentally and developing in different sequences as their femalecounterparts. The corpus
callosum was 20% bigger in females than males. These connect the two hemispheres of the brain.
Couple this with these facts together explains why females tend to be better communicators than
males. Boys generally express their feeling with action whereas girls are able to... Show more

There have been mixed results on how it affects children s motivation and achievement. The
results from the study suggest that praising children can reduce disruptive behavior in class and
stimulate learning. It was difficult to narrow the result of this achievement to the praise itself or
to teacher s attention and special privileges. At the time of this publication no study has isolated
the effects of praise by itself with this type and setting. Praise has been noted to be varied and
exhibit different results at times praise has had an adverse effect on learning while in other
settings it has been a great catalyst. One study suggests that praise directed at an activity rather
than a person can be a factor for the different outcomes observed. That praising on activity gives
specific insight to overcoming problems and is beneficial for future situation that will require
problem solving skills. The reason for this maybe that children don t always experience success
and personal praise will have the opposite affect at this point. They will begin to equate non
success with being incompetent, bad and unworthy. Studies suggest that females maybe more at
risk for the adverse effects of personal praise following setback or failures. Research has found
that females tend to accept evaluative feedback more so than males. They perceive this feedback
as an accurate reflection of their abilities, while males rely more on their internal belief of their
abilities. In a

Egan s Explanation Of Oxygen
According to Egan s, ventilation is the process of moving gas (usually air) in and out of the lungs
Egan s 225). If a patient lungs sounds are normal, the respiratory care practitioner is not concerned
due to decrease in obstruction in the airway. Contrary, if the respiratory care practitioner listens to
sounds like wheezes, stridor, rhonchi, rales, the practitioner is mostly concerned due to the fact that
an increase in obstruction is either in the upper or lower airway. This increase obstruction could
lead to decrease tissue oxygenation by causing tissue hypoxia, cyanosis, stagnant or a disease such
as chronic bronchitis.
Oxygen is the part of the gases that is inhaled by mammals, even though it is not the most
abundant in the atmosphere. This oxygen is the function of the blood and the heart, and it is
dissolved in the plasma PaO2 and chemically bound to hemoglobin SaO2. In fact, for every 100 d/L
of blood, 0.003ml of oxygen is dissolved in the plasma, and 1.34 m l of oxygen is carried in every

When the oxygen molecule meets the hemoglobin, it bounds to the heme group of the
hemoglobin and cooperative binding allows the remaining oxygen molecule to bind to the heme

Oxygen is being inspired frim the air; the oxygen tension (Po2) in air is 21KPa (159 mmHg),
which is a concentration of 21%.When warmed air arrives in the lungs, it loses some pressure:
Po2 = 20 kPa (150 mm Hg). The oxygen pressure continues to decrease in the circulation: Pa2 = 13
kPa (100 mm Hg) in the averli and 5 kPa (40 mm Hg) in viens that reach the heart. The oxygen
pressure in the tissues then decreases with increasing distance from the blood vessuls: Po2 = 0.5

The Reflection Of Being A CURO Honor Scholar
As this semester draws to a close and I reflect upon it, I am grateful for having taken this class and
to be a CURO Honor Scholar. This semester was much different than my past two semesters taking
this class, but I think this difference has been beneficial. CURO 4970H entailed class lectures,
writing assignments, and presentation assignments. These assignments composed the class portion
while working in my researchlab 10 hours or more each week with Dr. Darold Batzer composed
the experiential portion. Overall, as a result of these assignments and experiences, I have able to
learn more about myself, my field of study, as well as what I would like to pursue career wise in
the future. The class portion this year has had the greatest impact on me academically and
personally. In class, we discussed how to write personal statements, resumes, and abstracts. In
addition to that, we also learned how to present ourselves through elevator speeches and how to
prepare for interviews. For all of the in class lectures, we had a writing assignment or presentation
assignment that not only helped to reinforce what we learned but also gave us usable drafts and
practices for any future opportunities in which their implementation may be useful. In doing so, I
was able to grasp more firmly the material we covered in class and I had a physical representation
of my work in the above mentioned formats that I could use for any future endeavors. The best part
of these assignments was that there

Discount and Hawkins Discount and Hawkins Case Case Synopsis The subject matter of the case is presented as a negotiation between a real estate developer, Hawkins, and a possible anchor tenant, Discount Marketplace. Both parties are represented by professional negotiators: Myra Hart is representing the Hawkins Company and Genia is representing the Discount Marketplace. The Hawkins Company is a real estate developer, who is operating across UK, offering different types of services, such as: Mortgages, Energy Performance Certificates, Sales and Lettings. They are interested in having Discount Marketplace as a tenant in a proposed shopping center. The Discount Marketplace is an innovative national retailer with the main activity focused on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Developer wished that the Retailer would deal only with soft goods, and asked them to use same product mix for all locations around the country. The proposal was declined because the Retailer felt it was limiting to deal with only soft goods. Retailer wanted to be free in selecting the type of goods and services. Their argument was that they needed to be more flexible regarding their product mix in order to achieve innovation and to follow their advertising strategy. Also the Retailer didn t agree to use the same product mix across country because their main activity was based around a strategy of adapting the product mix. In order to get to an agreement the Developer suggested limiting the activity to some percentage of the operation area. They offered a limit of 10 15% for trial. The Retailer accepted the offer and issue was solved. 2. Operating Covenant Developer s concern about the contract duration was that the Discount Marketplace would operate for only as long as the business would be viable. Their aspiration level was to sign the contract for a period of minimum 15 years and their soft constrain was to sign the contract for a minimum of 10 years. Developer needed to be sure that the retailer would perform the best they can and they needed to be safe in case the Marketplace wanted to make sudden changes after signing the contract, like changing the location too soon. • 3. The Ethics Of The Bhopal Disaster In the Business Ethics Foundation Terms class (September 2nd 2014), we discussed the ethical implications of the Bhopal disaster on December 2nd and 3rd, 1983. A plant that belonged to Union Carbide subsidiary had a chemical explosion, killing 10,000 lives (conservatively) and affecting the livelihood of local and their descendants. Although many reasons have been offered up to try to explain this disaster such as the poor establishment of the manufacturing plant, less stringent labor laws, non exist environment laws, as well as the negligence in educating the public and medical facilities in Bhopalabout the fatality of the pesticide. It is my opinion that the government should also have placed strict boundary rules to limit populations moving into the possible disaster zone. The government of Indias negligence lies in one or both of the following: not assessing the risk of building a manufacturing plant close to a populated city, ignoring the assessed risk inherent in the chemicals being manufactured, and jeopardizing the environment and population of Bhopal. This is not to say that the Union Carbide and its subsidiary were blameless, however the Government of India s lack of responsibility for its citizens can be proved when they underrepresented the victims in the UCC s settlement actions in 1989. Due to these reasons, I will argue in the following paragraphs that the Government of India has more responsibility than Union Carbide in not only the tragedy but also for ... • 4. Louis Armstrong Song Analysis Summary: Louis Armstrong singing is remarkable. I can understand why he inspired so many people in the music industry. What I love about this album is his singing and his form in trumpet playing. Listening to Armstrong voice, as well as his lyrics, flushes away my sorrow when I listen to What a Wonderful World and Sittin in the Sun. These types of songs help me appreciate what I have. Armstrong duet with Bing Cosby is adorable. Gone Fishin song has humor, in addition, both man scats singing makes me smile. Armstrong and Cosby voices work well in numerous levels together. When you Smile (The World Smile with you) is one of my favorites. I can never get enough of this song. The way Armstrong plays his trumpet is truly tremendous the timing of his trumpet playing with his notes is on point. 2. National Security Is More Important Than Human Rights National Security is More Important than Human Rights The conception of human rights and freedoms is the cornerstone of American traditions, law and the indicator of democracy. The approach of prevailing interest in personal privacy, property privacy and non interference of state authorities in private affairs is the basic ground for modern organization of American society. For centuries the courts have been standing safeguards of protection of persons against unreasonable intrusion of the State, generally interpreting the Constitution and the Bill of Rights with preference of personal human rights protection. Nonetheless in the end of the 21st century there appeared several factors which so much influenced our society that the matters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In most of the cases opposing the concept of human rights to national security is erroneous and unreasonable construction because the national security is the concept which precludes the physical and mental security of all members of the society, and therefore includes and predetermines the possibility of exercising human rights and freedoms. Without security the well being is impossible. Looking at the national security vs. human rights question from the points of view of internal and external national security, one should first examine what concrete human rights may be waived or limited for the homeland security and protection purposes. Natural human rights like the right for life are not the subject to address in this essay. The rights addressed in this essay are defined primarily in the U.S. Bill of Rights. These are civil right for privacy, the right of peaceful protest, the right to personal freedom, the right to a fair trial and the right of equal protection, usually in the list of the rights which under certain conditions may be waived for the efficiency of homeland security and protection. The first argument supporting the statement that national security is more important than protection of individual rights is the increased threat of terroristic attacks, which are very dangerous, carefully planned, locally targeted and generously funded ... Schools are struggling to teach in ways that foster the learning of all students, primarily because almost all teachers in American schools are White, middle class females, who have never needed to teach diversely before. With an ever increasing percentage of diverse people in the United States, this White European style of teaching needs to be altered, so that all children are able to learn and feel comfortable in their schoolenvironment. One piece of information that I want to take away from this chapter is that each culture views how American s teach in a different way, and as a future educator, it is my responsibility to ensure that not only the children feel comfortable with the way that I teach, but that the parents do also. I know that it is going to be impossible to make sure that each parent feels comfortable with every teaching strategy that I use, but that they know that I am trying to make an effort to include their culture in my classroom. One way that I have thought about doing this is to do home visits before school starts. This will allow me to explain to the parents what my goals are or the school year and ask for their opinion. Terrorism from Above vs.Terrorism from Below Terrorism from above is known as state terrorism, state terrorism is not always a straightforward process in fact it is usually a covert, secret policy that allows states to claim deniability when accused of sponsoring terrorism. There are several ways to spot terrorism from above and can be included many different aspects. Sponsors of terrorismin terrorism from above, this means the state actively promotes terrorism and has been deemed what the U.S. call a rogue state. There are also enablers of state terrorism, enablers are states that operate in a manner to which being part of the problem means not just failing to cooperate fully in countering terrorism, but also doing some things that help enable it to occur. Links between regims and terrorism can range from very clear lines of sponsorship to indefinable associations. When a government is using terrorism as an instrument of statecraft they can often control the degree of their involvement so that any incidents of terrorism cannot be traced back to the government. After a minor wobble of the director stand, a few adjustments and giggles, Symphony No.1 in D major began. The first movement started off with an eerie introduction, with the first two notes morphing into a birdcall as well as main theme but a very magical sound. It made for a very soothing, romantic time. Throughout the piece I felt as if it told a story as most music does, what I came to believe it was a love story. The Allegro begins in the cello with the second Wayfarer song, Ging heut morgen Ubers Feld, (I Walked this Morning over the Field). With a light and happy tone in the beginning as if two lovers had just met, this was the main theme of this movement. Suddenly there was a deep, heavy part maybe one of despair in paradise but that only lasted for a short period as it came to a victorious ending of happily ever after. (Kahn) The second movement Scherzo, gave more of an elegant, royal ball sound. Where the women dress in gowns and the men in tuxedos, while drinking wine and dancing the night away. This movement has the rhythm of the Landler, an Australian folk dance. It conforms to the classic minuet and trio form though Mahler takes the first section beyond the standard repeat structure. The first three notes of the Scherzo and the Trio recall the birdcall theme from the first movement. If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research Paper On Drunk Driving Madison McAlpine Mrs. Gallos English 3 21 November 2017 Driving under the influence Even though people who drink regularly feel there is no issue with driving after one or two drinks, people should think about the severe consequences that come from driving under the influence. Numerous people die every year due to intoxicated drivers. There are ways of avoiding these life changing risks. Appointing a designated driver before drinking or calling an uber is a smart way to plan ahead. Unfortunately not everyone takes the initiative to prevent these avoidable circumstances. There are a large number of wrecks due to drunk drivers. For example, In 2015, 10,265 people died in alcohol impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one third (29%) of all traffic related deaths in the United States (Impaired Driving). These crashes are not only harmful, but can also be very expensive. People who drink and drive typically do not consider the potential costs that will be incurred if pulled over by police, state highway patrol or sheriff deputies as well as being involved in an accident or fatal car crash. Drunk driving costs the United States $199 billion per year (Snyder). This includes the expense of road clean up, medical services, court cases, insurance and much more. • 31. Analysis of Peter SkryneckiВґs Migrant Hostel and 10 Mary... Through an individual s intrinsic desire to develop meaningful connections with society, place or heritage, they forge their own sense of self identity by overcoming the barriers in place. In Peter Skrzynecki s poetry, particularly Migrant Hostel and 10 Mary Street we witness an individual s experience of segregation to eventual connection in the world they live. Skrzynecki s insightful poem Migrant Hostel explores the notion of impermanence and uncertainty in an individual s experience where stability is essential to develop an identity and sense of belonging. The poem illustrates the disorientating nature of a migrant hostel where the people within yearn for sanctuary in the Australian community. This idea is instantly reflected through the negative connotations in no one kept count representing a sense of anonymity in the atmosphere through a lack of individual significance. The enjambment and juxtaposition of the comings and goings highlights the transient and uncertain nature of the hostel environment where they were left wondering who would be coming next . The intrinsic desire of human nature to develop meaningful bonds with people that share similar adversities is displayed through simile and symbol of a homing pigeon circling to get its bearings . Furthermore, the alliteration in memories of hunger and hate convey their previous experiences hindering their search for harmony and permission into the broader community. This notion is further ... In the eyes of many free college is nothing more than a dream at the moment and who could blame them, for alas the government is taking their time, in no hurry to swiftly respond to the pleas of citizens. However there was a plan in the works that Catherine Morris describes in her article Pay It Forward . She states, Obama proposed funding Americas College Promise to the tune of $60 billion and paying for it with a series of taxes including one controversial and short lived proposal to tax 529 college savings plans (13). This shows that the government has some willingness to approach the issue, but most likely they have found that it is going to be more difficult than imagined to apply reform in this area. Another plan that is currently in use and has a controversial funding method is the Tennessee Promise which supports college students who are going to attend community colleges for shorter lengths such as two years. The gray areas start to come in with the funding. Scholarships for four year students are cut to help students who will be in college for less time and who will subsequently acquire more debt. They are: пѓ Combining the development and maintenance into one part and is sub divided by functional areas. пѓ Advancement and Maintenance individually. Combining the development and maintenance of system: In this approach both development and maintenance are combined to organize Information System Personnel (ISP). Generally, functional area sub divides an area into teams. Each team is assigned to a system to complete the requests of new development and maintenance. This approach appears to be logical as the division between new development and adaptive maintenance is arbitrary. The advantages in this approach includes: пЃ¬Specialized and specific knowledge of functional areas. пЃ¬Management of systems is easy as each system is assigned to a team. пЃ¬The system developers and maintainers are same in this approach. пЃ¬The development and maintenance continuity is a major advantage to manage the ISP. пЃ¬The experience of maintainers with actual development increases hence there is a decrease in maintenance expenditure. Besides the advantages there are some disadvantages also for this approach. The main disadvantage is the maintenance requests tends to be bottleneck to the development cycle. This is because that maintenance is process of solving or omission of errors and defects which is considered as urgent situation. At this point the development stage acts as ... It is one of the hardest to surmount, for it is something I still struggle with to this day. Overall, my journey is a working progress as it will perpetuate to have its downfalls to test me. Like many of my generation, social media has played an excessively paramount role in our lives, both negatively and positively. Sources of harmless entertainment have also unintentionally encouraged self judgment. Be that as it may, my perspective has been widely opened unexpectedly through a speaker s presentation as she showed us how to recognize our self worth. Confidence and self esteem are hard to acquire for some, but it should not be a quantity you divest yourself of. Self acceptance of all insecurities and doubts is paramount since every individual has a unique beauty that should be cherished in order to pursue a life full of loveand jubilance. During my sophomore year in high school, we had a Career Day with several guest speakers. They had split us up by gender, the girls stayed on the right side of the school while the boys stayed on the left. We could not enter the opposite sides considering we had presentations concretely for each group. As the boys had speakers to discuss the development of a gentleman, we had speakers addressing topics relating to makeup and on how to be a lady. Towards the end of the day, my friends and I decided to choose our last presentation randomly. As we entered the room, there was this resplendent woman with a surprisingly cordial atmosphere. She addressed us as if we were her own children; you could sense the love she had for positivity before she even commenced to speak. She gave us a background story of her childhood during our age, for she too had struggled with accepting herself with all her insecurities. She described her several encounters with bullying and how it had impacted her self esteem even though she appeared so vigorous and confident. • 42. Analysis Of Ethical Decision And Scandal Analysis of ethical reaction to scandal Introduction The reputation of an organization is crucial. Therefore, being a leader of an organization has to be able to react efficiently and effectively when there is a threat to organization s reputation. Occasionally, a leader has to face a dilemma, whereby one has to decide how to deal with the scandals in the organizations. On one hand, some organizations treat their customers as a mean to gather the profits. On the other hand, other organizations regard their customers as an end, whereby the organizations really consider about customers interests as an ultimate goal of their services. Nonetheless, only the companies that mad the ethical actions survived. Lacking a focus on the welfare of their customers, some propaganda techniques, aiming to cover up the scandals, usually don t work well. Instead, successful public relationship management techniques generally treat their customers welfare as an end not just a mean. For example, a successful crisis management usually contains the honesty and quick reaction. Enron Corporation is a great example to illustrate how damaging it is if company leaders try to hide up the scandals and lie to the public. From Kant s perspective, customers, who are human beings objected to the service provided by organizations, should be treated with dignity, as every rational being exists as an end in himself and not merely as a means to be arbitrarily used by this or that will (Kant 428). At the time of this publication no study has isolated the effects of praise by itself with this type and setting. Praise has been noted to be varied and exhibit different results at times praise has had an adverse effect on learning while in other settings it has been a great catalyst. One study suggests that praise directed at an activity rather than a person can be a factor for the different outcomes observed. That praising on activity gives specific insight to overcoming problems and is beneficial for future situation that will require problem solving skills. The reason for this maybe that children don t always experience success and personal praise will have the opposite affect at this point. They will begin to equate non success with being incompetent, bad and unworthy. Studies suggest that females maybe more at risk for the adverse effects of personal praise following setback or failures. If a patient lungs sounds are normal, the respiratory care practitioner is not concerned due to decrease in obstruction in the airway. Contrary, if the respiratory care practitioner listens to sounds like wheezes, stridor, rhonchi, rales, the practitioner is mostly concerned due to the fact that an increase in obstruction is either in the upper or lower airway.
