Introduction Price is all around us. You pay accommodation fee for your hostel, tuition for your
education. You pay transportation fee such as airline, railway, taxi, and bus. And the bank charges you
interest for the money you borrow, the price for parking your car at shopping mall. Your hairdresser
asks charge for cover his service. The price of an executive is a salary, the price of a salesperson may
be a commission, and the price of a worker is a wage. Price is the amount of money ... Show more

Most importantly it leaves them with very little reaction time. So in the initial phase not much
competition is faced.
Good will among early customers
Happy at having struck a profitable deal the customers are ready to come back to the manufacturer in
future. This goodwill created also leads to further promotion of the product through word of mouth .
Cost efficiency
The emphasis on keeping the price low helps in controlling the cost thereby cost efficiency is
achieved.
Competitors are kept at bay
If a manufacturer adopts penetration pricing and lowers the price of his products or services he may
stop competitors from entering the market. This happens because now the competitors will have to
enter the market at lower than existing prices. This reduces their profit not to mention the risk they
face as new entrants in acquiring market share.
Channel benefit
As this technique creates a quick turnover it keeps its retailers and distributers happy.
Disadvantages of predatory pricing The customer expects the prices to remain low for a long term.
They are not ready for the subsequent rise in the price and when it happens they might switch to a
competitor s product. Thus subsequent price hike leads to loss of market share

Context In The Old Testament
Context is the influence of circumstances around a setting, event, or situation. In our understanding of
the Old Testament, context has played a tremendous role. Whether it is literary, geographical, or
social, each one strongly affected the writing of the Old Testament. Artifacts found from the time of
the Old Testament, such as old tools or early forms of writing, like the Mesha Inscription and the
Merneptah Stele, also provide context, helping our understanding of the way in which the Israeli
people lived. Many of the stone tools discovered show us that humans have lived in the Palestinian
region for millions of years; however, the tools found of the Israelites show us they settled on the hills
of Palestine instead of on the Coastal plain.

Uterine Hysterectomy
Magnetic Resonance Guided High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (MRgHIFU) as Alternate Treatment
to Uterine Fibroids in African American Women.
Uterine leiomyoma also known as uterine fibroids are non cancerous tumors in women during
childbearing age. The tumors come from smooth muscle cells of the myometrium within the uterus
that changes in size and cellular properties during the reproductive years of a woman. The change in
size and cellular property with hypertrophy of the smooth muscle cells normally happen during
pregnancy and also occur with uterine fibroids. The development of the tumors is dependent upon
estrogen and progesterone and interaction with growth factors, cytokines and extracellular matrix
components (Taylor, Holthouser, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The regulation of COMT activity could modify the biological effect of estrogen and may play a role in
leiomyoma (uterine fibroid) formation (Al Hendy et al., 2013). The genotypes are Met/Met, which
causes deceased enzymatic activity, Val/Val, which causes high enzymatic activity, and Val/Met,
which causes intermediate enzyme activity (Al Hendy et al., 2013). Comparisons were done with the
genotypes and its function in relation to ethnicity and a study shows great association between COMT
1581 Met allele and large fibroids (Al Hendy et al., 2013). They also found that 47% of African
American women have COMT Val158Met genotype as compared to 19% of Caucasian women and
30% of Hispanic women (Al Hendy et al., 2013). Polymorphism of estrogen receptors and gene
expression in myometrium and leiomyoma is the main difference in the frequency and volume of
uterine fibroids within different ethnicities. A study was done where 1,470 genes were identified to be
expressed differently in leiomyoma compared with myometrium (Al Hendy et al., 2013). Out of the
1,470 genes, 268 genes were either overexpressed (177 genes) or under expressed (91 genes) in
leiomyoma in African American women (Al Hendy et al., 2013). The density of 34 protein spots in
leiomyoma was also found to be significantly different among African American women

Social Media Public Sphere
Through the emergence of the Internet, the last 20 years have seen a transformation in the way the
society communicates with one another. There is no doubt that the Internet has changed the way the
world interacts with one another on a democratic scale. Can it be said that with the emergence of the
Internet, a new public sphere has been created? If so, is this new public sphere capable of embodying
the theory that Habermas constructed? Petros Iosifidis article The Public Sphere, Social Networks and
Public Service Media (2011) examines reasons that hinder social networks from becoming a seamless
public sphere, and why Public Service Broadcasting should change over to Public Service Media.
Social Networks
Summary
Iosifidis starts the article by discussing in detail his first topic social networks as a new public sphere.
His main argument is that while social media spaces create new public spheres of both democratizing
and empowering functions (2011), the Internet is also capable of both informing individuals and
manipulating them. He argues that the public sphere is still a strong analytical instrument in today s
societies, as it helps us help us make sense of the relationship between the media and democracy
(civic engagement) (2011). Iosifidis brings up several interesting and debatable reasons why social
media is mostly overstated and represents hopefulness in the ability to be a public sphere. His six
reasons are: open participation of social media may turn

Cuba in the Cold War Essay
On April 17, 1961 one of the greatest foreign policy mistakes of the Cold War was made, the
attempted invasion of the Bay of Pigs, Cuba. The failed invasion happened under the administration of
John F. Kennedy and caused the deaths and imprisonment of over 1500 Cuban exiles fighting to over
throw the rule of Fidel Castro. The aftermath caused much larger impacts towards United States
foreign policy. The invasion made the United States look imperialistic to the rest of the world and
allowed the Soviet Union to portray America as an aggressive and hostile country to its neighbors,
which in turn allowed the Soviet Union to aid Cuba even more for future affairs. The Bay of Pigs also
caused President Kennedy to distrust many of his advisers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The United States attempted to assassinate Castro eight times between 1960 and 1965. These attempts
involved putting chemicals in his cigars to get him sick, poison pills, even using thallium salts to make
his beard fall out. These attempts made relations with Castro even worse, he became even more anti
capitalist and resulted in his alliance with the USSR to strengthen. Only two months after Kennedy
took office in 1961 the CIA, specifically Allen Dulles the CIA s director, came to him with the plan to
train hundreds of Cuban exiles to invade Cuba and occupy the capitol Havana. This plan was already
approved by Kennedy s predecessor Eisenhower. The exiles had already been training in Florida in
guerilla warfare for months and over thirteen million dollars had already been allocated for the
mission. The plan according to a report by the CIA s director, Allen Dulles, was to bring about the
replacement of the Castro regime with one more devoted to the true interests of the Cuban people and
more acceptable to the U.S. in such a manner to avoid any appearance of U.S. intervention . It was
important at the time that the U.S would not be known behind any attacks on Cuba. One of the main
downfalls of the attack was the failure to execute the pre invasion plans. The United States painted old

Approaches to Inclusion
1 Introduction In this report the researcher aims to demonstrate a critical understanding of the
principle that early years settings should provide for the needs of all children, including those with
sensory and learning needs, gifted children, and children from remote and nomadic populations,
children from linguistic, ethnic or religious minorities and children from other disadvantaged or
marginalised areas or groups. For the purpose of this report, the researcher will use the term Children
with Special Educational Needs to refer to the above groups. The researcher will provide a critical
awareness on how theoretical models have changed ways of thinking about inclusive practice and the
implications of this on legislation and policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All educational policies, says the Framework, should stipulate that disabled children attend the
neighbourhood school, that would be attended if the child did not have a disability. (UNESCO, 1994.,
p.24) There is seemingly little doubt that the catalyst for inclusion within the English system lies in
the sentiments outlined in the Salamanca Statement. As Hornby, (2002)., asserts, The statement has
resulted in what, at times, appears to be a tidal wave of inclusion intent preached with overpowering
zeal by the church of inclusion. (p.7) It is observable, though, that despite this missionary zeal the
implementation of inclusionary practices, within the English system, began slowly. Although some
might argue that the last Conservative government, through the Code of Practice (DFE, 1994),
encouraged children with special educational needs to join fully with their peers in the curriculum and
the life of the setting (p.11), others contended that: the code only addressed identification and
standardisation in an attempt to end the vagueness of special educational needs, previously delivered
through a postcode lottery of provision. (Clough, 1998. p.2) 2.3 Theoretical Models It is commonly
accepted that there are two contrasting models or views of disability currently present within modern
day

The Chrysalids Joseph Strorm Character Sketch Essay
Written by John Wyndham, The Chrysalids tells the reader about Joseph and his life, which revolves
around religion. Joseph, as the reader learns, is an extremely religious, authoritive, and temper mental
man. As the story progresses, Joseph s character traits begin to show more and more. Joseph s
character traits become more prominent, and Joseph begins to choose his religion over his family.
Towards the end of the novel we learn that Joseph is out to kill two of his children. Joseph is a man
with many problems, which would get the best of him in the end.
Living in Waknuk makes it extremely easy to be controlled by your religion. Joseph was a very
religious man towards his family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aunt Harriet comes over one day to exchange her deviated baby with Mrs. Strorm s baby for an
inspection. This is against the law, so Joseph suddenly takes control. He has to prove that he is in
power. To prove his authority, he has Aunt Harriet killed the next day. Another example of authority is
the tail less cat incident. Joseph finds out that the cat has no tail, and tries to control the situation. He
kills the cat, only to later find out that the cat was perfectly legal. These examples all show that Joseph
has the power in most situations. If he doesn t have the power, or is proven wrong, he is extremely
ashamed. Joseph Strorm is very authoritive in the community of Waknuk.
Throughout the novel The Chrysalids Joseph s temper showed and caught the reader s thoughts. There
were many times when Joseph s temper got the best of him. For example, when David and Petra were
caught as being blasphemies. Joseph quickly joins the search party for them. He does not even care if
they are his own family. His temper gets the best of him in this situation because he does not take the
time to think about his family. David is caught holding a secret about a blasphemy. This sends Joseph
into a mad rage. Joseph does not stop to think or calm down. He whips David until David lets the truth
slip. This shows Joseph is extremely temper mental. He does not let any blasphemies get away
without punishment. In the past, Joseph was caught

Theodicy And Suffering
Many of us question why we live in a universe full of sin and evil? We question if our god is good
why is our natural world filled with suffering, violence and destruction? This is where the theodicy
problem comes into play, Theodicy is an attempt to explain why a good god would have created evil
and suffering. Atheists don t believe in God for this matter, since evil exists they assume God must
not. I believe that we were all blessed with the ability to choose and we can still make our own
choices. What God did was he created mankind with free will, it can t be logical for a man to remain
sin free when they are making their own choices. So we can make our choices moral, immoral, or
amoral. Immoral acts result in evil, if God intervened it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I had to search this question because I am too wondering why good people suffer and why bad people
don t seem to. I came across an article and it basically explained that our Lord clearly taught that his
blessings should fall upon all people regardless of the evil they commit. And it later explained that we
often only witness and know of the good that happen to bad people rather than the entire situation. We
don t entirely know what the person has been dealt with. For example, I sometimes question those
who don t have money problems. I always thought to myself they are so blessed to not have money
issues and there life is probably less stressful and they don t know what its like to struggle. What we
would give right? Well I started to notice that most people with money were miserable. They had
problems in other departments such as commitment, relationships and family. We aren t all blessed
with the same things. God s blessings apply to all people. So we need to stop questioning why bad
things happen to good people? God has a plan and Instead of questioning God s fairness or justice, we
are called to trust in His love and ultimate justice. Those who are persecuted or reviled for their faith
in God in this life are considered blessed (Matthew 5:11 12) yet the reward in eternity will be great.
(CT) We are all blessed to live through our Lord Jesus Christ, and his eternity far outweighs any
situation that is unfair or unjust in this

The Problem Of Child Labor Laws Essay
i. In developing countries, such as in India, child are are forced to work, often as the result of a system
of debt bondage where their family trades a small amount of money with an individual and in return,
their child is sent away to work, and some of these families will never see their child again. Many of
these children, due to the either the lack of regulation or as a result of a country simply turning a blind
eye to the reality of child labor that violates child labor laws . As we saw in the video from class about
the chocolate child labor farmers, many of these children engage in backbreaking work, from sunrise
to sunset, and as a result lose their childhood, their ability to go to school, their ability to play with
other kids, because of the debt bondage their family agreed to. This is what was experienced by Iqbal
Masih. As a four year old boy, his parents sold him into debt bondage for 600 rupees, or less than $6,
to an employer who owned a carpet weaving business. Corsaro explains that child labor is especially
desired in the carpet weaving business because they can squat easily, and their nimble fingers can
make the smallest, tightest knots . He woke up before dawn and made his way, bound in chains, down
to the factory for work. He worked at that faculty for 6 years, working 12 hours a day, everyday. At the
age of ten, he found out that bonded labor was illegal, and tried to escape. After escaping, he made a
decision to help others like him, and as a result,

The Great Recession Of 2008-9
The Great Recession of 2008 9 was the deepest and longest capitalist economic slump since the Great
Depression of 1929 32. The recent financial crisis is known as the Great Recession of 2008 9. Its
downturn was sparked by the collapse of the US housing market. In 2006, the prices of home began to
rise and the banks began to encourage potential homebuyers to take out larger loans. There were lower
interest rates at the time, and this seemed like a good idea for most individuals who were searching for
a new home. Then, in mid 2007, the interest rates began to rise. The values of the homes decreased
and the amount of money a house was worth declined significantly. Many homeowners were stuck
with large loans, increasingly high interest rates, and a decreased price of their home. Many
homeowners went into foreclosure or were evicted. This eventually led to large financial institutions
and banks to become bankrupt, which lead to an overall fall in the US economy. Stocks dropped,
consumer spending declined significantly, and companies began to go out of business (Athanasiu, 43).
This financial crisis has impacted the economy tremendously during that period. Businesses have been
drastically impacted, as have the lives of workers in the United States. Many articles have been
published about different aspects of the recession. One question that has not been completely
addressed is how the Great Recession has affected small business and unemployment rates. The
reason for addressing

of an initial issue of either debt or equity. The IPO process is also referred to as a private company

enlarging and diversifying a company s equity base, allowing cheaper access to capital, improving

Go on a road show (with the underwriter) to present and market the information about the IPO to key
institutional investors and attempt to create interest.
Decide on the IPO price based on the degree of success of the road show and the current market
conditions.
Complete the final step of the IPO process and publicly issue securities in the stock market and collect
the capital from investors.
IPO Valuation
The process of determining the IPO share price as an indicator of value is extremely significant for a
company. Determining the share price target range depends on a number of factors, including the
success of the road show, demand from investors, and comparison with other IPO valuations from
similar companies. The final IPO share price will be somewhere within the target range and the
market response to the IPO is a measure of whether the share price was correctly valuated.

Raising A Child Discipline
Not a single parent will ever say raising a child is easy. In fact, raising a child is, indeed, difficult. It
costs money, and a great deal of emotional, psychological and physical energy; just to name a few.
Most importantly, parenting never seems to happen as many parents have imagined or wished.
However, the intention of this paper is not to greaten the sufferings of the parents by provoking their
frustrations. It is rather to provide an insight or an option to make parenting less painful and more
enjoyable as it should have been in the first place. Out of many adjustments a parent can make for the
betterment of his/her child and their relationship, one major component is discipline. There are already
many cases of failures of either over discipling or under discipling a child. However, with a well
balanced and prepared methods of disciplining, one s child can maximize to his/her potential.
One of the most significant element of discipline is the consistency of rules. Parents should clearly
elaborate on what the rules are and both the positive and negative consequences following certain
actions. Statistics show that children whose parents are strict with rules are less likely to be
noncompliant and to become a juvenile delinquent compared to children raised by parents with a lack
of consistent rules. Studies further indicate that children s self esteem and send of self efficacy directly
correlate with their family s control in their lives. Such positive influence on the

Society Versus the Individual Essay
Society Versus the Individual
The adage, the proper study of man is man , aside from its obvious gendered exclusion, describes
mounds of writing and thought about society and its components. Debates rage on in virtually all
fields with variations on the same theme: society versus the individual. In the writings of Durkheim,
Sahlins, and Foucault, the individual as coherent, persistent, and in control dissolves and is subsumed,
to different extents, within society. For the first two, society dominates the individual to a large degree
but not entirely. For Foucault, however, the entire terms of the debate seem meaningless, as both are
constructs of one larger mode of discursivity: the power/knowledge game that creates the ... Show

Obviously, these philosophical distinctions do not necessarily preclude subjectivity or make one feel
any less free , but the move is important strategically. If the subject is, while not an illusion (Foucault
29), fabricated by discourse, it becomes a politicized space that can have various destructive or
productive effects.
Beyond being merely arbitrary, Foucault offers some solid reasons the individual may be politically
undesirable. On the one hand, the concept of an individual subject with relative autonomy, coherence,
persistence, and so forth is far from internally cogent. If the subject is partially determined, and
partially free, the theory doesn t say much at all because free remains undefined. If the freedom has
behavior, patterns, or rules then it is not free, but if it is random, it is just as meaningless to call it free.
Further, if the subject is only free in certain cases, but is not free to determine what those cases are,
then it cannot control its own freedom, and is thus again unfree. Even if the self were considered
entirely free, which can only be established of course by non falsifiable decrees such as the Sartrean
insistence

Kent is playing an important role in King Lear s play by William Shakespeare. Kent has a unique
character with some wonderful qualities. Kent s character is the most loyal, brave, truthful, wise, and

Uveitis Is An Eye Disease That Mainly Affects Golden...
Pigmentary Uveitis is an eye disease that mostly affects Golden Retrievers. Pigmentary Uveitis is also
known as Golden Retriever Uveitis, cystic glaucoma, or the shortened name of PU. PU is thought to
have originated from the Northeastern part of the United States, and was mostly in Golden Retrievers.
PU also affects crossbred dogs with Golden s such as Goldendoodles. Although it is present in
crossbreds, the disease still mainly affects Golden Retrievers. This is a genetic disease that affects the
eye, and the eye only. Uveitis is an inflammation of the uveal tract, which includes the iris (Golden
Retriever Uveitis). PU is usually diagnosed around the age of 8.6 years. Which means if they were
breeding dogs, they would have already passed it on to their offspring. This genetic disease could
spread very quickly, considering the signs are not visible until after they have had offspring. Since
breeding programs outside of the United States have different certification standards, researchers do
not know if PU has spread to other countries at this time. Pigmentary Uveitis is usually diagnosed
around the age of 8.6 years, although there are cases that have reported as early as 2.5 years old
(Sullivan, T., DVM) and the oldest was 14.5 years old (Sapienza, J., DVM). Most breeding dogs get
diagnosed at one of their eye tests, called CERF (Canine Eye Registry Foundation), and then go for
further testing. Other non breeding dogs get diagnosed by concerned owners that

R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company Case Study
1. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company was founded in 1875 and has grown to become one of the largest
operating tobacco countries in the world. This company was founded by Richard Joshua Reynolds,
who was a 25 year old who started his own chewing tobacco manufacturing operation in North
Carolina. Reynolds was the first to introduce pipe tobaccos and went on to revolutionize the entire
cigarette industry.
Reynolds American have always had a focus on innovation and transforming the tobacco industry,
which is prevalent not only in their business now, but also in their past success. For example, in 1931,
they were the first company to package cigarettes with a moisture proof, sealed cellophane outer wrap
which worked to preserve freshness. This had not been done before but helped them break away from
competitors as it was more enticing for consumers to purchase.
R.J. Reynolds has been acquiring multiple large companies in their industry so that their own
company can grow and continue to develop. In 1970, Reynolds Industries was formed as the new
parent company of R.J. Reynolds, then in 1985 they followed on to acquire Nabisco Brands and were
renamed to RJR Nabisco. Through 2002 to 2006, they acquired both Santa Fe Natural Tobacco
company and Conwood Company, giving Reynolds American incredible scale and strength within
their industry.

The biggest thing that stands out to me when I read that question is the Parallax assignment. When we
started that assignment I was so confused, and lost I just didn t understand it. But when we were done
with it I took the most out of that assignment than any other one. My first example is the answer to the
question we answered at the beginning, and I had no idea what to put so I answered with one word,
again hoping out of pure luck I would be right. If you were to ask me what is parallax? I would
probably stare blankly with no idea what it was, and at the end of the assignment I could tell you
almost anything about it. My second example is how well my parallax summary turned out, and even
my graph. I completely understand how when the distance to an object increases the observed parallax
decreases. I think the moment I understood everything was when I held up my thumb straight out in
front of me, closed one eye and then the next. I know, it sounds dumb but that intrigued me into the
assignment, when a little part of me finally understood it. My notebook helped me have everything

Open source is an approach to the design, development, and distribution of software, offering practical
accessibility to a software s source code. Some consider open source as one of various possible design
approaches, while others consider it a critical strategic element of their operations. Before open source
became widely adopted, developers and producers used a variety of phrases to describe the concept;
the term open source gained popularity with the rise of the Internet, which provided access to diverse
production models, communication paths, and interactive communities. Software is a general term for

The Importance Of My Identity
There are status and symbols that are associated with ethnic people. These status or symbols are
sometimes positive and others are negative. Therefore, these labels only hinder us from achieving our
potential. Stereotypes about minorities are imposed by other cultures. This is also true of gender
expectation. I was born in Mexico, but at six years old I came to the United States. Fortunately, within
a year I learned English. This is the dilemma I faced with regards to my identity. My appearance is
Hispanic and I identify my ethnicity as Mexican. However, my identity is actually a combination of
the Mexican and the American culture. On one hand, Hispanics did not completely accept me, because
they said I am not Mexican enough, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One status people associate with being Mexican, is being poor or of a lower economic status.
According to the Center for Immigration Studies legal and illegal immigrants are twice as likely to be
in poverty or nearly poverty, versus their native born counterparts in America. When I first came to the
United States my family and I were poor which, perpetuated the ideas that people had of me. They
judged me for the clothes I wore, because they were not brand names and I brought my own food from
home. However, this was also in part due to the cultural differences. In my country for the most part,
the food was natural and in the American school system the food was usually processed. At first the
food made me sick, but it changed as time went on. Eventually, my family circumstances change as
well due to my mother s hard work. Thus, we moved up to middle class status. However, people
always associate with, a lower economic status despite my actual economic status or what I wore.
Another prejudice, which I endured was that Mexicans were lazy, because we came from a third world
country. Despite always being on the honor roll, since I was a child my peers were shocked when they
said how I could possibly get that and not them. However, people did not understood that I had to
work harder than everyone else since, English was not my native language. Additionally, my family
has a long lineage of teachers and education is held in the highest regard in

The Death Ratio And Crash
Maybe you re afraid of snakes being on your plane? Nah, Im just kidding. Do you know what causes
plane crashes? Small things such as birds, wind, and weather can take a 430 ton airplane to the
ground, yet statistics actually show that air travel is the safest way to travel. In the following research
paper the reader will learn how plane crashes happen and how they can be prevented. The death ratio
and crash ratio both have descended over the following 20 years. There are thousands of car fatalities
each year, along with deaths. You have a one in one million chance to crash while being present on an
plane. Statistics? Or in other words facts. These are the things that we lean on in life. If something has
good credibility or statistics, then its the way to go. Plane crashes can frighten you even if you re not
on board. In fact, we live in an era where plane travel is the safest and quickest way to travel. Just last
year, 2014 had the lowest amount of plane deaths. The Year 1972 had the highest crash ratio. Planes
have advanced since then and now are more efficient and safer. In 2014 there were only 761 plane
fatalities.Statistics show that six percent of plane crashes were weather related during the 2000 s.
Another twenty percent of plane crashes statistics says that crashes during the 1970 s were mechanical
issues. Also, 34 percent of plane crashes were pilot errors during the 2000 s. In 1950, three percent of
plane fatalities were sabotaged. Believe it or not , plane

to The Bulgarian Borderland by L. Melishkevich SUMMARY Main Claim of Paper: Religious
divisions in Madan (and other Bulgarian towns in the Rhodope region) are produced by a religious
borderland in which individuals grapple with ideological conflict and tension, characterized by
Eastern vs. Western influences. Support: Factual information and quotes from Muslim Lives in
Eastern Europe; Supportive information (for comparisons) from other books/places examined this
semester. CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK (with some complimentary questions) Argument: Pushing
back against Ghodsee s notion that Madan is unique due to the combination of its large Muslim
populations and the collapse of GORUBSO, the paper builds off past discussions of borderland (with
Where the World Ended and Consecution and Social Change) to argue that a religious borderland is
responsible for divisions in the Bulgarian Muslim population. I have little critique of the broad
argument (I think it s rather brilliant!) BUT I think it suffers from organizational and evidence
deficiencies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Crazy. Insane. Nuts. All words to describe someone who is mentally ill. But the thing about mental
illness is that it is not physically apparent. In our world it is easier to have a broken bone than a broken
mind. Past and present methods of treating people with mental illness are barbaric, impersonal and a
gross mixture of over and under diagnosing. We as humans have complex brains so it shouldn t come
as a surprise that things sometimes go wrong. But from lobotomies to mental asylums and turning

Essay about Father Roles Heaney
Father Roles Heaney Father Roles
There are many factors that will shape a young boy s life, but possibly none more important than the
role of that boy s father. Seamus Heaney and Theodore Roethke both have shown the importance of
the father role in their poems Digging and My Papas Waltz. Although the roles of the fathers in these
poems were different, the respect and admiration shown by their sons is one in the same. Weather it is
Heaney s father digging under his window, or Roehtke s father dancing him around as a little boy, the
love shown in these two poems, shows a direct relation on the lives they shared with their fathers.

Corked sloppily with paper. This shows that while Heaney decided not to follow in his fathers
footsteps, he loved and cared for his father regardless (Glover 543). Overall, Heaney s love for his
father was a powerful factor in his deciding to become a writer.
Roethke s peom, My Papas Waltz , shows us a completely different relationship among the father and
son. In the opening line, we read The whisky on your breath/could make a small boy dizzy; this, to
some, arises suspicion as to weather this is a happy dance, or a violent one. Many will debate over
weather or not this represents a happy time or a violent relationship, but this is further clarified when
Roethke writes But I hung on like death this shows that the boy was in fact having fun dancing with
his father (Magill 1453). You can sense the anger in the mother as you read My mothers
countenance/could not unfrown itself. This shows that despite the mothers feelings of anger towards
the dance, the son was enjoying it, so they went on (Malkoff 344). The last two lines of the poem
further illustrate the boys love for the dance with his father; Then waltzed me off to bed/still clinging
to your shirt. This shows that after a long day of work, the boys father would come home and have a
drink, and then waltz Theodore around the kitchen. The love between Roethke and his father is shown
throughout the poem, and can be seen in many ways, some wish to view

The Involvement Of Psychologists And The American...
In my analysis paper I will be discussing the issues in the involvement of psychologists in
interrogations. Many of the current issues resort to an ethical or unethical question in regards of the
American Psychological Association s Code of Conduct. Are the practices of using inhumane
techniques to gain enemy intelligence ethical or unethical? The use of psychologists in military
interrogations has led to crossing the lines of being inhumane, which is against the Code of Conduct.
This has been explained in many incidents in today s interrogations against foreign enemies and
detainees. The current controversy of this issue is not only a debate psychologically, but this also

You further begin using techniques that are against your ethics to yield the enemy of hiding
information. How would you feel? What would you do? Let the enemy contain his intelligence, or
interrogate against your ethics, using techniques that are well known for accomplishing your tasks?
Psychologists have been involved in military interrogations for an extended time. Psychologists have
been used in many different ways in the military, such as questioning detainees, enemy combatants,
and even our own military members to decide whether they would fit into certain career fields. The
current debate on psychologists involved with military interrogations is focused on whether this
activity is violating codes. Many people are arguing the fact that these interrogations can be abusive
towards detainees and unethical while a vast selection of people also agree that many psychologists
stay within their code and regulations and maintain a safe approach. Psychologists have a fine line
when it comes to breaking the guidelines and staying in them. There are many different issues to bring
up on this topic and I will be discussing both point of views related to military interrogations.
In the current issue of the involvement of psychologists in military interrogations there is a conflict in
taking a side of either being ethical or unethical. Prominent members of the American Psychological

the main three technology would had help Christopher Columbus with his journey to Asia are global

knowledge, he could settle many more lands than just America. Columbus could gain control of any
unclaimed territory. Columbus could have made his journey much easier by turning it into a flight
instead of a voyage. The Concorde is the fastest passenger plane in the world, reaching an astonishing
700 miles an hour. This plane could easily carry all of Columbus s crew. This would also shorten the
trip down to around three hours at most and provide a much more comfortable ride. As this plane
relied on jet fuel, there would also be the invention of today s modern aircraft, which would not only
affect the people in Portugal, but in other civilizations too, such as the peoples of Britain, the Dutch,
and the Spaniards. With the addition of a plane there also led to a place where all materials could be
easily kept safe and did not leak. On the Santà Maria, food was easily perishable. Because of the high
pressure surrounding the plane and less oxygen, food did not perish easily. Planes also came at another
advantage, and that was the emptiness of the sky at the time. No other planes were present, so air

Satire In Mark Twain
1. What is the issue Twain is satirizing?
Mark Twain is satirizing the advice young people are given by authoritative figures on different issues
in life. The words of wisdom used to guide youth usually promote the same ideals and are repeated so
often that in some sense they lose their strength. That does not mean though that the issues they touch
upon are not important. Twain uses humor to actually make young people go beyond the banality and
conformity and ask questions of importance.
2. What techniques does Twain use to create his satire?
Mark Twain uses hyperbole by saying that he is giving his advice beseechingly and urgingly. He is
also being ironic in the beginning by saying that he is supposed to say something suitable for young ...

respect and appreciation as we do. He also demonstrates that we need to live life for the better of
ourselves and others equally because that will bring us true satisfaction.
7. How are the messages communicated by Twain and McCullough similar?
These speeches manage to deliver an important message for young people through humor. Both Mark
Twain and McCullough satirize one extreme to reinforce the truth behind their concepts.
8. Which message could you relate to more? Explain why in a minimum of three sentences.
I relate more with Mark Twain s message because there is a certain point in a young people s lives
when we start to see our parents and teachers more as humans and not as authority figures. This
contradiction between words and actions is something that can lead to confusion. I believe that young
people should more often be challenged to explore things, and ask questions. Rules and norms are
there for a reason, but so are contradictions. But there is much more than just saying what is wrong

Montessori Method Of Education
Montessori Method of Education is one of the unique methods of the education which stimulates the
child s natural curiosity to learn. Culture and creativity area an integral part of the Montessori
curriculum. Every area of the Montessori curriculum is interrelated and follows the same foundations.
Each area of curriculum has special purpose of education and helps the child in stimulating their
imaginative powers. Montessori Method strongly believes that imagination is based on the reality
based experiences and creativity is directly related to exposing the children to real life situations. So,
we can say that in order to be more imaginative and creative, child must have real and concrete
experiences with the real objects.
According to Maria Montessori, The true basis of the imagination is reality, and its perception is
related to exactness of observation. It is necessary to prepare children to perceive the things in their
environment exactly, in order to secure for them the material required by the imagination. Intelligence,
reasoning, and distinguishing one thing from another prepares a cement for imaginative constructions

technological innovation. Ten years ago, the company was first to market with a highly successful
coated air bubble packaging protection product, AirCap. However, market trends indicate a rapid
displacement of coated bubble by a technologically inferior yet inexpensive uncoated product.
Burgeoning demand for uncoated bubble poses a direct threat to the long term viability of the

As a result, larger distributors typically carry competitive products. Margins on product resale is
generally higher than 10%. The proliferation of packaging products and poor product education has
caused confusion among end users. US consumers have traditionally viewed packaging supplies as a
cost saving resource. Consequently, packaging engineers are accorded high status and influence
roughly 40% of material purchase decisions. The US market is experiencing strong growth, driven in
part by the growth of the coated and uncoated bubbles segment. However, AirCap s market share
remains stagnant (Appendix A). It is apparent that a growing segment of end users are willing to forgo
product quality for a lower price. European firms, in particular, are price conscious and less

Rhetorical Devices In The Coquette
Meghan Michalski 19 October 2017
From a scene of constraint and confinement, ill suited to my years and inclination, I have just
launched into society. My heart beats high in expectation of its fancied joys. My sanguine imagination
paints, in alluring colors, the charms of youth and freedom, regulated by virtue and innocence. Of
these, I wish to partake. While I own myself under obligations for the esteem which you are pleased to
profess for me, and in return, acknowledge, that neither your person nor manners are disagreeable to
me, I recoil at the thought of immediately forming a connection, which must confine me to the duties
of domestic life, and make me dependent for happiness, perhaps too, for subsistence, upon a class of
people, who will claim the right of scrutinizing every part of my conduct; and by censuring those
foibles, which I am conscious of not having prudence to avoid, may render me completely miserable
(Foster, 29).
Through rhetorical devices, dramatic language, and tone, Foster manipulates the readers perspectives
and opinions of her characters and provides them with the information to predict Eliza s inevitable
demise before she knows it herself.

First the argument for Post season playoffs leading up to the National Championship could replace the
human or computer polls with the objective of winning or losing a game. A 2007 Gallup poll showed
that 85% of college football fans supported a change to a playoff system of some kind. 69% of fans
surveyed preferred the idea of a playoff tournament involving the top four, eight, or 16 teams to
replace bowl games while 16% favored a one game playoff between the top teams emerging from
bowl games. A Team that loses one game during the season is probably out of contention for the
National Champion; If it has two losses or more, there is a good chance the team will not qualify to
play for national title. Therefore, if a team fails early in the season, then they must win their remain
games to have a chance to play for the title. The playoff system should give every school in division 1
opportunity to earn a chance to make it in the playoff picture, all 11 conferences in the FBS. Since the
BCS conference automatically qualifies for BCS bowl games, power five conferences will only play
for New Year s bowl game. According to Wetzel (2009), the BCS human polls are subject to bias
which has cited as one reason, the University of Utah was held out of the 2008 championship game.

Reflection Paper On Language And Emotions
1. Using the chapters on language and emotions to help frame your answer, suggest two ways that Ken
could open this conversation more productively, beyond clearly expressing his emotions and using I
language.
Two ways in which Ken could have opened this conversation productively would include 1) owning
his current feelings and 2) taking responsibility for his own actions (Wood, 2012). Instead of his
current opening, Ken could have said something like,
Jan, I really need to speak with you. I completely understand that what happened between Katie and
me was wrong, but by you telling Shannon, it has not only created issues between Shannon and me,
but also has me feeling a bit uneasy about confiding in you.
2. How do you perceive Jan s effort to convince Ken to forgive her? Based on what you have learned
in this chapter, suggest two ways she might more effectively seek Ken s forgiveness.
Firstly, Jan could have completely owned her actions and asked if there was any way to make it up to
him. Secondly, Jan should stay on topic. By her bringing up Ken telling her dad on her, and comparing
it to this situation, she effectively negated Ken s feelings and engaged in cross complaining. Cross
complaining is described as When a person s complaint is met by aa countercomplaint (Wood, 2012,

start of Operation Anaconda, estimates of enemy composition, disposition, capabilities, and intentions
would have been known and could have drastically reduced the amount of casualties Coalition Forces
incurred. Second and third order effects of realizing this intelligence would have shattered the enemy s
ability to conduct major combat operations and set the conditions for stability operations to take place.
Operation Anaconda was a joint effort between elements of the 10th Mountain Division, 101st
Airborne Division, Special Operations Forces from multiple nations, and local Afghan fighters to
drive out al Qaeda and Taliban fighters from the Shahikot Valley in order to set the conditions for
successful stability operations in Afghanistan. The battle took place in late February

3 Forms Of Conformity
Have you ever been at a social gathering and acted in a particular way in order to feed in? This is
called conformity, it means a change in behaviors or beliefs due to real or imagined group pressure.
Conformity occurs all the time, whether we are aware of it or not. There are three forms of
Conformity. The first form is compliance, the second form is obedience, and last but certainly not
least, the third form is acceptance. This subject matter relates to me because the three types of
conformity has happened to me numerous of times with lack of awareness at the time. The first type of
conformity is compliance, this means when we are publicly agreeing with social pressure, while we
are disagreeing privately. For example, When I go out with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I had a struggle with driving on my own due to experiencing accidents that occurred while my mother
was driving and I was the passenger, which led to an irrational fear of driving. This left an impact on
my self confidence, and self esteem which effected me both socially and mentally. To overcome these
obstacles my desire to accomplish the skill of driving was a challenge, but I decided to overcome this
irrational fear in order to be an independent. The isolation that was a representation of the limits of not
driving handicapped me from friends, and places that I would like to have gone. These strong
motivations enabled me to reach the goal of being an independent. I felt limited because of my mental
state at that time seemed awfully impossible to overcome the lack of confidence that was so deeply
imbedded in my thought process and felt the lack of self esteem. I recall feelings of worthlessness as
so many others drove with so little difficulties, and I kept thinking repeatedly I could not make this
happen for myself. I also experienced thoughts of being left out as I was not included in places that
others were which made me feel lonely and isolated. All these obstacles and my thoughts that blocked
me from enjoyment and so I realized that I better make some changes in my life which enhanced a
more rewarding and satisfying lifestyle. With reaching out to a counselor, driving instructor, and the
support of my parents, I overcame the irrational fear of driving. I conquered these negative reactions
which enabled me to feel like a winner and triumph. Being able to drive on my own exemplifies self

Using Open Data For Business Choices
Helping Consumers It is safe to assume that the use of open data would effectively boost the strength
of businesses. (Manyika, Chui, Farrell, Van Kuiken, Groves, Almasi Doshi, 2013) And while this is
true, the McKinsey Global Institute makes the bold claim that open data benefits consumers even
more than businesses. (Manyika, Chui, Farrell, Van Kuiken, Groves, Almasi Doshi, 2013) They go on
to discuss the reasoning behind this, and it makes a lot of sense. While the data provided can be used
by providers to make effective business choices, the same data can also be presented to customers on a
platform that is not the company, giving them the chance to receive less biased information. This
allows them to make informed choices with their purchasing, whether it is choosing a different form
of the product they are seeking, or another brand or company all together. Improved Education
Choices The information provided by open data has the potential to increase the ability to make
informed choices when it comes to education and learning. (Park Shelton, 2012) The documented
highlighted provides many examples of how the information gained can be effectively used by schools
and individuals. It also highlights examples of the goals for the future of its growth. One of the
concepts that stood out was making students own data available to them in a form that allows them to
see where they are struggling, and subsequently tying that to data that shows how to improve in these

Comparisons were done with the genotypes and its function in relation to ethnicity and a study shows great association between COMT 1581 Met allele and large fibroids (Al Hendy et al., 2013). They also found that 47% of African American women have COMT Val158Met genotype as compared to 19% of Caucasian women and 30% of Hispanic women (Al Hendy et al., 2013). Polymorphism of estrogen receptors and gene expression in myometrium and leiomyoma is the main difference in the frequency and volume of uterine fibroids within different ethnicities. A study was done where 1,470 genes were identified to be expressed differently in leiomyoma compared with myometrium (Al Hendy et al., 2013). Out of the 1,470 genes, 268 genes were either overexpressed (177 genes) or under expressed (91 genes) in leiomyoma in African American women (Al Hendy et al., 2013). • 6. Social Media Public Sphere Through the emergence of the Internet, the last 20 years have seen a transformation in the way the society communicates with one another. There is no doubt that the Internet has changed the way the world interacts with one another on a democratic scale. Can it be said that with the emergence of the Internet, a new public sphere has been created? If so, is this new public sphere capable of embodying the theory that Habermas constructed? Petros Iosifidis article The Public Sphere, Social Networks and Public Service Media (2011) examines reasons that hinder social networks from becoming a seamless public sphere, and why Public Service Broadcasting should change over to Public Service Media. Social Networks Summary Iosifidis starts the article by discussing in detail his first topic social networks as a new public sphere. His main argument is that while social media spaces create new public spheres of both democratizing and empowering functions (2011), the Internet is also capable of both informing individuals and manipulating them. He argues that the public sphere is still a strong analytical instrument in today s societies, as it helps us help us make sense of the relationship between the media and democracy (civic engagement) (2011). Iosifidis brings up several interesting and debatable reasons why social media is mostly overstated and represents hopefulness in the ability to be a public sphere. His six reasons are: open participation of social media may turn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Cuba in the Cold War Essay On April 17, 1961 one of the greatest foreign policy mistakes of the Cold War was made, the attempted invasion of the Bay of Pigs, Cuba. The failed invasion happened under the administration of John F. Kennedy and caused the deaths and imprisonment of over 1500 Cuban exiles fighting to over throw the rule of Fidel Castro. The aftermath caused much larger impacts towards United States foreign policy. The invasion made the United States look imperialistic to the rest of the world and allowed the Soviet Union to portray America as an aggressive and hostile country to its neighbors, which in turn allowed the Soviet Union to aid Cuba even more for future affairs. The Bay of Pigs also caused President Kennedy to distrust many of his advisers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The United States attempted to assassinate Castro eight times between 1960 and 1965. These attempts involved putting chemicals in his cigars to get him sick, poison pills, even using thallium salts to make his beard fall out. These attempts made relations with Castro even worse, he became even more anti capitalist and resulted in his alliance with the USSR to strengthen. Only two months after Kennedy took office in 1961 the CIA, specifically Allen Dulles the CIA s director, came to him with the plan to train hundreds of Cuban exiles to invade Cuba and occupy the capitol Havana. This plan was already approved by Kennedy s predecessor Eisenhower. The exiles had already been training in Florida in guerilla warfare for months and over thirteen million dollars had already been allocated for the mission. The plan according to a report by the CIA s director, Allen Dulles, was to bring about the replacement of the Castro regime with one more devoted to the true interests of the Cuban people and more acceptable to the U.S. in such a manner to avoid any appearance of U.S. intervention . It was important at the time that the U.S would not be known behind any attacks on Cuba. One of the main downfalls of the attack was the failure to execute the pre invasion plans. Approaches to Inclusion 1 Introduction In this report the researcher aims to demonstrate a critical understanding of the principle that early years settings should provide for the needs of all children, including those with sensory and learning needs, gifted children, and children from remote and nomadic populations, children from linguistic, ethnic or religious minorities and children from other disadvantaged or marginalised areas or groups. For the purpose of this report, the researcher will use the term Children with Special Educational Needs to refer to the above groups. All educational policies, says the Framework, should stipulate that disabled children attend the neighbourhood school, that would be attended if the child did not have a disability. (UNESCO, 1994., p.24) There is seemingly little doubt that the catalyst for inclusion within the English system lies in the sentiments outlined in the Salamanca Statement. As Hornby, (2002)., asserts, The statement has resulted in what, at times, appears to be a tidal wave of inclusion intent preached with overpowering zeal by the church of inclusion. (p.7) It is observable, though, that despite this missionary zeal the implementation of inclusionary practices, within the English system, began slowly. Although some might argue that the last Conservative government, through the Code of Practice (DFE, 1994), encouraged children with special educational needs to join fully with their peers in the curriculum and the life of the setting (p.11), others contended that: the code only addressed identification and standardisation in an attempt to end the vagueness of special educational needs, previously delivered through a postcode lottery of provision. Joseph finds out that the cat has no tail, and tries to control the situation. He kills the cat, only to later find out that the cat was perfectly legal. These examples all show that Joseph has the power in most situations. If he doesn t have the power, or is proven wrong, he is extremely ashamed. Joseph Strorm is very authoritive in the community of Waknuk. Throughout the novel The Chrysalids Joseph s temper showed and caught the reader s thoughts. There were many times when Joseph s temper got the best of him. For example, when David and Petra were caught as being blasphemies. Joseph quickly joins the search party for them. He does not even care if they are his own family. His temper gets the best of him in this situation because he does not take the time to think about his family. David is caught holding a secret about a blasphemy. This sends Joseph into a mad rage. Joseph does not stop to think or calm down. He whips David until David lets the truth slip. We question if our god is good why is our natural world filled with suffering, violence and destruction? This is where the theodicy problem comes into play, Theodicy is an attempt to explain why a good god would have created evil and suffering. Atheists don t believe in God for this matter, since evil exists they assume God must not. I believe that we were all blessed with the ability to choose and we can still make our own choices. And it later explained that we often only witness and know of the good that happen to bad people rather than the entire situation. We don t entirely know what the person has been dealt with. For example, I sometimes question those who don t have money problems. I always thought to myself they are so blessed to not have money issues and there life is probably less stressful and they don t know what its like to struggle. What we would give right? • 11. The Problem Of Child Labor Laws Essay i. In developing countries, such as in India, child are are forced to work, often as the result of a system of debt bondage where their family trades a small amount of money with an individual and in return, their child is sent away to work, and some of these families will never see their child again. Many of these children, due to the either the lack of regulation or as a result of a country simply turning a blind eye to the reality of child labor that violates child labor laws . As we saw in the video from class about the chocolate child labor farmers, many of these children engage in backbreaking work, from sunrise to sunset, and as a result lose their childhood, their ability to go to school, their ability to play with other kids, because of the debt bondage their family agreed to. This is what was experienced by Iqbal Masih. As a four year old boy, his parents sold him into debt bondage for 600 rupees, or less than $6, to an employer who owned a carpet weaving business. Corsaro explains that child labor is especially desired in the carpet weaving business because they can squat easily, and their nimble fingers can make the smallest, tightest knots . He woke up before dawn and made his way, bound in chains, down to the factory for work. He worked at that faculty for 6 years, working 12 hours a day, everyday. At the age of ten, he found out that bonded labor was illegal, and tried to escape. After escaping, he made a decision to help others like him, and as a result, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Great Recession Of 2008-9 The Great Recession of 2008 9 was the deepest and longest capitalist economic slump since the Great Depression of 1929 32. The recent financial crisis is known as the Great Recession of 2008 9. Its downturn was sparked by the collapse of the US housing market. In 2006, the prices of home began to rise and the banks began to encourage potential homebuyers to take out larger loans. There were lower interest rates at the time, and this seemed like a good idea for most individuals who were searching for a new home. Then, in mid 2007, the interest rates began to rise. The values of the homes decreased and the amount of money a house was worth declined significantly. Many homeowners were stuck with large loans, increasingly high interest rates, and a decreased price of their home. Many homeowners went into foreclosure or were evicted. This eventually led to large financial institutions and banks to become bankrupt, which lead to an overall fall in the US economy. Stocks dropped, consumer spending declined significantly, and companies began to go out of business (Athanasiu, 43). This financial crisis has impacted the economy tremendously during that period. Businesses have been drastically impacted, as have the lives of workers in the United States. Many articles have been published about different aspects of the recession. One question that has not been completely addressed is how the Great Recession has affected small business and unemployment rates. The reason for addressing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are already many cases of failures of either over discipling or under discipling a child. Debates rage on in virtually all fields with variations on the same theme: society versus the individual. In the writings of Durkheim, Sahlins, and Foucault, the individual as coherent, persistent, and in control dissolves and is subsumed, to different extents, within society. For the first two, society dominates the individual to a large degree but not entirely. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Obviously, these philosophical distinctions do not necessarily preclude subjectivity or make one feel any less free , but the move is important strategically. If the subject is, while not an illusion (Foucault 29), fabricated by discourse, it becomes a politicized space that can have various destructive or productive effects. Beyond being merely arbitrary, Foucault offers some solid reasons the individual may be politically undesirable. On the one hand, the concept of an individual subject with relative autonomy, coherence, persistence, and so forth is far from internally cogent. If the subject is partially determined, and partially free, the theory doesn t say much at all because free remains undefined. If the freedom has behavior, patterns, or rules then it is not free, but if it is random, it is just as meaningless to call it free. Further, if the subject is only free in certain cases, but is not free to determine what those cases are, then it cannot control its own freedom, and is thus again unfree. Pigmentary Uveitis is also known as Golden Retriever Uveitis, cystic glaucoma, or the shortened name of PU. PU is thought to have originated from the Northeastern part of the United States, and was mostly in Golden Retrievers. PU also affects crossbred dogs with Golden s such as Goldendoodles. Although it is present in crossbreds, the disease still mainly affects Golden Retrievers. This is a genetic disease that affects the eye, and the eye only. Uveitis is an inflammation of the uveal tract, which includes the iris (Golden Retriever Uveitis). PU is usually diagnosed around the age of 8.6 years. Which means if they were breeding dogs, they would have already passed it on to their offspring. This genetic disease could spread very quickly, considering the signs are not visible until after they have had offspring. Since breeding programs outside of the United States have different certification standards, researchers do not know if PU has spread to other countries at this time. One status people associate with being Mexican, is being poor or of a lower economic status. According to the Center for Immigration Studies legal and illegal immigrants are twice as likely to be in poverty or nearly poverty, versus their native born counterparts in America. When I first came to the United States my family and I were poor which, perpetuated the ideas that people had of me. They judged me for the clothes I wore, because they were not brand names and I brought my own food from home. However, this was also in part due to the cultural differences. In my country for the most part, the food was natural and in the American school system the food was usually processed. At first the food made me sick, but it changed as time went on. Eventually, my family circumstances change as well due to my mother s hard work. Thus, we moved up to middle class status. However, people always associate with, a lower economic status despite my actual economic status or what I wore. Another prejudice, which I endured was that Mexicans were lazy, because we came from a third world country. Small things such as birds, wind, and weather can take a 430 ton airplane to the ground, yet statistics actually show that air travel is the safest way to travel. In the following research paper the reader will learn how plane crashes happen and how they can be prevented. The death ratio and crash ratio both have descended over the following 20 years. There are thousands of car fatalities each year, along with deaths. You have a one in one million chance to crash while being present on an plane. Statistics? Or in other words facts. These are the things that we lean on in life. If something has good credibility or statistics, then its the way to go. Plane crashes can frighten you even if you re not on board. In fact, we live in an era where plane travel is the safest and quickest way to travel. Just last year, 2014 had the lowest amount of plane deaths. The Year 1972 had the highest crash ratio. Planes have advanced since then and now are more efficient and safer. In 2014 there were only 761 plane fatalities.Statistics show that six percent of plane crashes were weather related during the 2000 s. Another twenty percent of plane crashes statistics says that crashes during the 1970 s were mechanical issues. Also, 34 percent of plane crashes were pilot errors during the 2000 s. Melishkevich SUMMARY Main Claim of Paper: Religious divisions in Madan (and other Bulgarian towns in the Rhodope region) are produced by a religious borderland in which individuals grapple with ideological conflict and tension, characterized by Eastern vs. Western influences. Support: Factual information and quotes from Muslim Lives in Eastern Europe; Supportive information (for comparisons) from other books/places examined this semester. CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK (with some complimentary questions) Argument: Pushing back against Ghodsee s notion that Madan is unique due to the combination of its large Muslim populations and the collapse of GORUBSO, the paper builds off past discussions of borderland (with Where the World Ended and Consecution and Social Change) to argue that a religious borderland is responsible for divisions in the Bulgarian Muslim population. Essay about Father Roles Heaney Father Roles Heaney Father Roles There are many factors that will shape a young boy s life, but possibly none more important than the role of that boy s father. Seamus Heaney and Theodore Roethke both have shown the importance of the father role in their poems Digging and My Papas Waltz. Although the roles of the fathers in these poems were different, the respect and admiration shown by their sons is one in the same. Weather it is Heaney s father digging under his window, or Roehtke s father dancing him around as a little boy, the love shown in these two poems, shows a direct relation on the lives they shared with their fathers. In the opening line, we read The whisky on your breath/could make a small boy dizzy; this, to some, arises suspicion as to weather this is a happy dance, or a violent one. Many will debate over weather or not this represents a happy time or a violent relationship, but this is further clarified when Roethke writes But I hung on like death this shows that the boy was in fact having fun dancing with his father (Magill 1453). You can sense the anger in the mother as you read My mothers countenance/could not unfrown itself. This shows that despite the mothers feelings of anger towards the dance, the son was enjoying it, so they went on (Malkoff 344). The last two lines of the poem further illustrate the boys love for the dance with his father; Then waltzed me off to bed/still clinging to your shirt. This shows that after a long day of work, the boys father would come home and have a drink, and then waltz Theodore around the kitchen. My heart beats high in expectation of its fancied joys. My sanguine imagination paints, in alluring colors, the charms of youth and freedom, regulated by virtue and innocence. Of these, I wish to partake. While I own myself under obligations for the esteem which you are pleased to profess for me, and in return, acknowledge, that neither your person nor manners are disagreeable to me, I recoil at the thought of immediately forming a connection, which must confine me to the duties of domestic life, and make me dependent for happiness, perhaps too, for subsistence, upon a class of people, who will claim the right of scrutinizing every part of my conduct; and by censuring those foibles, which I am conscious of not having prudence to avoid, may render me completely miserable (Foster, 29). Through rhetorical devices, dramatic language, and tone, Foster manipulates the readers perspectives and opinions of her characters and provides them with the information to predict Eliza s inevitable demise before she knows it herself. (Manyika, Chui, Farrell, Van Kuiken, Groves, Almasi Doshi, 2013) They go on to discuss the reasoning behind this, and it makes a lot of sense. While the data provided can be used by providers to make effective business choices, the same data can also be presented to customers on a platform that is not the company, giving them the chance to receive less biased information.
