Essay on The Role of the Chorus in Ancient Greek Tragedies
The chorus s perspective of justice works differently in Euripides Medea and Aeschylus The
Libation Bearers. In both The Libation Bearers and Medea, the driving force of vengeance links
the chorus to each of the play s protagonists. For both plays, the choruses begin with a strong
support of their heroes with a belief that the course of action that those characters are pursuing for
the sake of avenging the wrongs done to them or their families is just and right. The chorus of
Medea, however, moves away from that original conviction in the moral justification of revenge.
Over the course of The Libation Bearers, the chorus also begins to express doubt in the validity of
the true value in the cycle of deaths that the system of revenge... Show more content on

The chorus supports Orestes revenge against his mother Clytemnestra for killing his father
primarily because a successful outcome of an action against Clytemnestra and Aegisthus would
eliminate some of their cause for suffering. However, Orestes revenge against his mother and
Aegisthus also meets the justice of the law of retribution, which the chorus defines: Justice turns the
wheel.
Word for word, curse for curse be born now, Justice thunders, hungry for retribution,
stroke for bloody stroke be paid. The one who acts must suffer. (Libation Bearers 192)
The law of retribution describes true justice as revenge, without very much in the way of logical
moderation or consideration. This concept of justice shows the reasoning of Medea s actions. By
this system, the pain that Jason s betrayal gave her necessarily must be repaid by an equal or
greater pain that Medea would inflict on Jason.
The chorus of both The Libation Bearers and Medea experience similar shifts in perspective once
their protagonists have properly decided to take action against those characters who have wronged
them in some manner. Directly following the prayers of Orestes and Electra in The Libation
Bearers, the chorus says, The flesh crawls to hear them pray./ The hour of doom has waited long
(Libation Bearers 197), clearly showing that the chorus, despite having urged Orestes on in taking

The Great Depression Of 1929 Essay
It is almost nine decades since the outbreak of great depression of 1929 and it still haunts the
economy of America today. The Great Depression was a time of financial hardships and misery
for the Americans. America experienced a time of wreckage and terror. The Great Depression was
not a sudden collapse. Many events led up to the most traumatic economic period of modern times.
World War I, the Roaring Twenties and unequal distribution of wealth among the people were all
origins of the Great Depressionbut a specific cause to this disaster stills remains a mystery
today. After World War I ended Americans wanted a change in their country. Women wanted more
rights and were given the right to vote by 1920. Women became more independent and worked to
help their family and ease the burden of the men at house. Americans wanted to improve their
country. Americans spent their money on improving their roads, bridges and real estate. New
technologies like refrigerators, televisions, radios and cars were mass produced to make life
easier. With the development of new technologies accessibility were endless. Radios covered news;
music and other forms of entertainment, middle class were able to afford cars due to Henry Ford s
method of assembly line. Technology improved productivity in the manufacturing area to an extent
that raised living standards for many. Not every Americans were able to afford the latest appliances,

Unit 2 P5,M2,M3,D1,D1
Unit 2 Equality, Diversity and Rights within Health and Social Care P4 For this task, I am going to
explain how two national initiatives promote anti discriminatory practice. Sex discrimination act
1975 This act applies for both men and women. It promotes that both men and women should be
treated equally. For example, in transport, education, jobs etc. It promotes anti discriminatory
practice by making sure those men and women are treated equally, if this act applies didn t exist,
men and women may be deprived of certain choices. This act includes any discrimination against
homosexual marriages or civil partnerships, any discrimination against pregnant women and
maternity leave, also about equal pay for both men and women.... Show more content on

This act however does not cover any discrimination within the community but still covers it
when admitted into hospital. This also connects to the equality act 2010 as it makes it illegal to
discriminate directly or indirectly against someone with a mental health condition within public
services and functions, access to any premises, work, education, associations, and finally
transport. D1 For this task, I am going to evaluate the success of the recent initiative in
promoting anti discriminatory practice. I am going to evaluate the mental health act 1983 and
how the act s initiatives promotes anti discriminatory practice and I am also going to compare
the amended version in 2007 and how this has promoted anti discriminatory practice and how it
has improved people s lives. The mental health act was created in 1983 to make society as fair
as possible but it also has had some negative areas. The act says about the removal of people with
mental disorders. This could be seen as discrimination e.g. marginalisation because you would be
making someone feel isolated from society and feel as if they could not be part of that certain part
of the community. This act is purely to help and protect those with mental health issues and
safeguard those around them. This act was updated from 2001 and finalised in 2007 because the
language used in the act was changed. Also issues, treatments on different conditions

A Survey On The Healthcare System Essay
Introduction Some believe the healthcare may be the most scrutinized industry out there today
(Ashrafi, Kelleher Kuiboer, 2014). As the government continues to reform the U.S. healthcare
system away from a fee for service to a value based model, many institutions are turning to business
intelligence (BI) and analytics for assistance. Moving forward providers of healthcare are
responsible for the overall care of patients from admission, discharge and now if the patient returns
for the same issue. According to Graaff and Austin, the push by the Center for Medicare and
Medicaid organization for meaningful use stage 2 requirements, was one of the first changes to
place emphasis in the area of BI within the industry. Although healthcare continues use utilize BI to
aid with improving quality of care, operational efficiencies, controlling costs and staying ahead of
competitors to name a few. Per a study conducted by Deloitte, health system analytics may be the
missing key to unlock value based care (Morris, Mittal, Chang Shukla, 2015). A survey by
Teksystems conducted in 2014, stated that roughly 58 percent of physician practices and hospitals
stated their organization has not yet implement a BI solution. Regardless of the numbers, many
healthcare organizations have experienced success with the adoption of BI. Not to mention
enabling better decision making throughout the entire organization. Per the Deloitte Center for

Administration
Windows Server Advantages There are many administration advantages for Windows Servers.
One aspect is domain operations which are an important resource available on the network
through Window Server. Making Window Server a domain controller adds security and the
ability to add local and group policies to the network (Garza, 2010). If Window Server is not
promoted to the status of a domain controller, then it can run simple network operations using peer
to peer structures (Garza, 2010). These are workgroups, and they can only block or allow access
but do not provide control features for the network. The numbers of ... Show more content on

Disadvantages One of the biggest disadvantages is that it does not have a specific organization
which updates and provides services, or software tweaks in a regular manner as Windows does.
Another disadvantage is that the lack of graphical user inters faces, or the absence of free tools and
software when compared to Windows (Host wisely, 2011).
Performance
Windows Server Advantages Windows server offers anywhere access with great flexibility, which
allows a company to build, deploy, and manage applications and websites on premises, in the
cloud, or in hybrid environments using a consistent set of tools and framework Windows server
also offers frameworks, services, and tools to help increase scalability. (Microsoft, 2012).
Disadvantages Windows servers are notorious for being vulnerable to worms while there have been
basically no worms affecting UNIX in the past ten years. Any server running on windows should
really have anti virus software on it just like a desktop would. While window servers are
unaffected by this they are just as susceptible to malicious and mischievous hackers as window

The Drinking Age Should Not Be Lowered
Most people would concur that alcohol should not be given to teenagers. Despite the fact that we
concede to this essential truth, underage drinking is still a noteworthy issue in our nation. Since
adolescents need development and information with regards to liquor, they put themselves, as well
as others in incredible danger when they decide to consume. Regardless of the risk, there are
individuals out there who believe that the drinking age should be lowered. However, their argument
is weak, and when taken into consideration, I still firmly believe that the drinking age should not be
lowered. Underage drinking can prompt an extensive assortment of issues including health
problems, addiction, sexual assault, drunk driving accidents, and death. Granting all this, the legal
drinking agehas been lowered and raised again. Underage drinking should not be allowed in this
country. The risks are far too great and the pros are way too few. Young people have been
attracted to alcohol since the early 1820 s, and it ...has rattled authorities around the world for
centuries (Clark 5). Through the 1800 s and into the 1900 s, ...anti saloon activists helped to pass

Coconut Oil Vs Alzheimer s Disease
Although the coconut is one of the few foods that can be identified as a superfood today, its oil
guarantees an array of health related medicinal and dietary benefits.
For generations, coconut oil has held a number of medicinal claims. Of its more recent claims,
studies show that it can actually fight Alzheimer s disease (Schardt). According to Schardt, coconut
oil is unusual because it contains a high percentage of medium chain triglycerides or MTCs . This
chemical is what essentially helps to increase the brain function of demented individuals.

Symbolism, Allusions And Imagery In Gary Soto s The Jacket
In Gary Soto s short story The Jacket Gary Soto uses symbolism, allusions, and imagery to
convey the theme to be thankful for what you have. In The Jacket by Gary Soto, the nameless
main character asks his mother for a biker jacket, instead he received a guacamole colored
jacket. Gary Soto states I stared at the jacket, like an enemy, thinking awful thoughts before I
took off my aged jacket whose sleeves climbed halfway to my elbow. I put the large jacket on.
He hates the jacket, puts it on anyways. This is a conflict in the story, he hates the jacket, puts it

One event that illustrates this is when the main character has a small montage in the story. In The

that the boy s jacket starts to fall apart, but he still wears it, which only contributes to the idea that
you should be thankful for what you have. The point is that Soto uses imagery to convey the theme

Comparing Herodotus And De Vaca s Writing Styles
A Comparison of Styles
Herodotus versus de Vaca Throughout the course of the world, there have been many great
civilizations that have risen and fallen from power. Many of these civilizations are remembered not
only through the texts or works that they themselves produced, but through the writings of later
historians. Herodotus was an example of a later historian, because he wrote about a civilization of
old, de Vaca was a historian of the moment because he covered a civilization as he experienced it.
The contrast in the two styles is plainly evident for the most part in the two literary pieces.
Herodotus has a very distinct style compared to de Vaca and as de Vaca s works came later it
can be assumed that he was partially influenced by Herodotus. The three main areas that
Herodotus and de Vaca s works differ are the time period in which they wrote their pieces, how
they regarded their subject matter, and who they were writing about. As before mentioned, one of
the biggest differences between Herodotus and de Vaca is the time period in which they wrote their
pieces. Herodotus was a later historian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Herodotus was writing his passage mainly on the Egyptian people, but he did have references to his
native people the Greeks. De Vaca mainly covered the Avavares, a tribe in modern day Texas who
existed from 1527 1534 according to most historians. The Avavares were short lived as they
were often conquered by more powerful tribes in their area, where the Egyptians were the ones
who were often doing the conquering in the Middle East. The two subjects themselves could not
be more different as the Egyptians owned slaves and the Avavares ended up as slaves. Because of
this discrepancy, there can be no mistaking who is who in the two passages. Herodotus and de
Vaca come from similar backgrounds, but the backgrounds of their two chosen subjects could not

Justice What s The Right To Do Analysis
In the book, Justice What s The Right To Do by Michael Sandel. Michael Sandel brings up the
free market and asks those reading whether or not the free market is fair. He asks if we should be
able to sell anything we have on our body to sell, or that we shouldn t due to moral reasons such
as selling body parts, or sex. Why is it that donating a kidney is looked at with with praise while
some argue selling your kidney is seen as morally wrong, Is selling body parts or even sex for
payment unethical or ethical, at what point do we cross the line between immoral and moral. I
agree, though with some reservations. For instance only allow the selling of certain body parts
if the body is born with a pair of it for instance kidneys. Both kidneys are healthy and you can
spare one without damaging your own health. Even liver transplants won t damage your health as
the liver heals fairly quickly and leaves nothing but a scar, bone marrow transplants are also safe
since bone marrow and liver are regenerative. Selling of body parts would need to be heavily
regulated to protect the health of the donor and the receiver, the government must regulate this
heavily and determine a reasonable compensation for the donor.... Show more content on

Imagery In Farenheit 451
Imagery is describing an author s use of vivid description that evokes the reader to feel as if they
can visualize the scene. In the book, imagery is portrayed by the author to make people feel like
they are in the character s shoes, specifically where Samantha is drifting off to sleep in her mom
s car. The in depth description of Samantha dozing off to sleep looking out of the window is
described in this quote, I watch the highway lights, my eyelids sinking, then the summer

In the book, exaggeration is used by the author to create a dramatic or hilarious phrase to
communicate the emotions to the reader. When Tim was describing the size of the pool at the
community center, Tim said, There s a lake in the middle of this community center (Fitzpatrick

creating a humorous joke. From this, we can identify that Tim is surprised about the new pool and
has a funny sense of humor. This is an exaggeration because the reader knows that there s not a lake

must be massive. The author may have included this technique to develop the characters
personalities further and to help the reader understand the characters thoughts and emotions. (165

Abstract
Android is becoming the most used smartphone operating system all over the world since the first
version of Android was released at 2008. In this research paper, I systemize most important
milestones from Android 1.0 to Android 6.0 based on the description from Google Inc. During the
collection of Android versions, I highlight the most influential changes for Android s development.
Keywords: Android, feature, history

According to Kidman. A (2014), the most popular smartphone operating system globally is
Android, and it has about 80.6% of market share. People may want to know how Android becomes

2.1.1 Quick Search Box. As people all know, the major character of Google is its searching
function. Android s Quick Search Box is ubiquitous. User can use this function to get search results
from both phone local content and website at once. It highly improves processing efficiency. Quick
Search Box created the idea that make smartphone as a convenient device.
2.1.2 Screen Size Diversity. People are more likely to use big screen phones than small screen
phones. Before the period of big screen phones, people used to use screen size around 2.4 inches.
After iPhone comes, people seem like to use big screen phones than before. However, the phone s
featuring displays was limited by 320*480 portrait. Because of the featuring displays limitation, it is
hard for manufactories to make big screen phones. Thanks to capabilities launched with Donut
which allowed Android to run on a variety of screen resolutions and aspect ratios. This opened the
door for phones featuring displays other than 320*480 portrait. With the higher portrait,
manufacturers can design bigger screen phones with an acceptable and distinct definition.

The Eruption Of The Korean War Era
The eruption of the Korean War brought the abrupt requirement for the expansion of aviation.
Helicopters and the Army were very limited in their capabilities, acquisitions of aircraft, laws in
place, and industry could not keep up with the demand. These limitations ultimately were
overcome because the need was required during the war. Army Aviation saw expansions of their
force structure and how operations were conducted on the battlefield. The Aviation Center at Fort

With the acquisition of new aircraft, the training requirements increase as well. The Aviation
Center at Fort Rucker, Alabama was created to train Army aviators in flight training as well as
develop a standard for Aviation a cross the force. Through all of these challenges, the foundation
was set for Army Aviation to grow into the fighting force we know now.
Helicopter Advancement
The Korean Warforced many changes on the way helicopters were used. Most importantly, the
medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) function was a pivotal function Army Aviation could provide
to the ground commanders. The potential of helicopters on the battle field were huge, but there
were some hurdles that needed to be overcome. The Army largely depended on the Marine Corps
experiences in Korea to develop programs of their own (Kreisher, 2011). This inspired the Army
to field the Bell YH 13 as a replacement for the light, fixed wing, observation aircraft. In 1950, less
than two months before the Korean War, the Army approved five transportation rotary wing
companies to begin producing aircraft.
Limitations of Army Helicopters In September, 1950, General J. Lawton Collins asked the Air
Force to remove weight restrictions of 3,500 pounds, limiting what the Army could do with their
helicopters. After a year of debates and meetings, a formal agreement between the Air Force and the
Army removed the weight limitations. The United

James Brown Monument Dbq
In today s society, we try to remember every little thing that happens, from the first day of school
to the graduation of college. One of the ways we try to remember things is through photos.
However, photos and just natural memory are not enough. In our lives extraordinary events are
done by extraordinary people, and tragedies strike our nation. Those people and events deserve to
get recognized by more than a simple photo or a hazy memory. The process that is used to select a
memorialare proper place, sensitivity of memorial, materials used, and the design itself.
A major question to ask is if the monument is being put in the proper place. Would you want a statue
of George Washington in the middle of a Native American Reserve? I think not. Having the proper
place is essential to making sure that the person/event is being respected properly. A great example
of this is the James Brown Statue that is located in downtown Augusta. It is placed in the walkway
that is breaks up Broad Street. As far as the statue being in Augusta that is the proper... Show more

Sensitivity affects how people feel and view memorials, and it is chanced upon in some cases
what is politically correct. An example of this the Savannah Memorial Park which dedicated to
pioneers. Many feel as though it brings bad luck (Source D). This is a superb example because
the whole reason they wanted to get rid of it is purely based on how they feel, and there appears to
be no other apparent reason. Another example is Mount Rushmore, yes the great Mount Rushmore.
Before Mount Rushmore, that land belonged to the Sioux (Native Americans). They were driven
from their land. That mountain is considered sacred and holy to them. The American people have
just defaced the property that initially belonged to them. How do you think they felt? They would
be extremely hurt not only from having to leave their land, but also an import at part of their
culture was destroyed (Source

The Garden Of Eden In The Book Of Genesis
The Book of Genesis offers a simple and straightforward creation of the universe; over the period
of just seven days, God creates life on Earth with several elements: the sky, heaven, dry land and
living creatures. This philosophical creation story finds itself ingrained in countless Christians. The
Book of Genesisshould be respected because it shapes how we think our godlooks at us and how we
think of our god. On the other hand, these chapters are utterly unreasonable especially when one
considers the metaphors. These chapters tried to brainwash my mind with subtle fallacies of how
authority should be unquestionable. How is this established through the punishment of Adam and
Eve? Well, God is irrational when punishing them; contextually, one understands that God has
created the Garden of Eden to place Adam and soon reward him with Eve. Before developing the
significance of this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They perhaps deserved to be punished as God explicitly told Adam not to eat from the Tree of
Knowledge. However, this punishment is far too dreadful; this is because numerous Christians
believe that this original must be redeemed from birth, and this implies that we are born into sin
that we must redeem and that our level of life was at its peak when living in the Garden of Eden.
How misguided! A more logical philosophy is that we are born without sins. Yes, they deserved
punishment, but no, they did not deserve lifelong pain. Frankly, one can see Genesis as out dated
in modern society; we are far too advanced to believe this story. In a moral sense, we know that
humankind is far too equal now in comparison to the centuries of harsh patriarchy and social
classes. Even the Indian Caste System has now been abolished legally and we are making

The NFL is investigating whether the New England Patriots intentionally deflated footballs during
their victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Sunday s rain soaked AFC Championship Game.
A league spokesman confirmed the investigation, which was first reported Sunday by television
station WTHR in Indianapolis, to ESPN on Monday morning.
More from ESPN.com
Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Monday afternoon that the organization will cooperate fully with
whatever questions they ask us and whatever they want us to do. He added that the first time he
heard about the issue was Monday morning.

NFL rules stipulate that footballs must be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch
and weigh between 14 and 15 ounces.
Former NFL official Jim Daopoulos, in an interview with ESPN on Monday morning, explained
the process in which footballs are managed. Two hours and 15 minutes before each game, officials
inspect 12 footballs from each team and put a mark on them to indicate they meet the proper
requirements and are good for usage. Then those footballs are given to the ball attendant.
There also is a second set of six footballs, used specifically for the kicking game, that are marked
appropriately and remain in the possession of officials at all times.
Officials check balls as they go into the game, and if the ball doesn t feel perfect, they can throw it
out, Daopoulos said. There is always the possibility that balls can lose air due to the conditions.
A team can be fined if it is found to be knowingly altering the weight of the football.
The NFL s game operations manual states: Once the balls have left the locker room, no one,
including players, equipment managers, ball boys, and coaches, is allowed to alter the footballs
in any way. If any individual alters the footballs, or if a non approved ball is used in the game, the
person responsible and, if appropriate, the head coach or other club personnel will be subject to
discipline, including but not limited to, a fine of $25,000.

Culture Values
Texts reflect the culture and values of their eras by presenting and addressing perspectives of the
composers on the issues of the context. The poem The End and the Beginning by Wislawa
Szymborska and the Austrian film 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance by Michael Haneke
accomplish this by exemplifying issues in 1990s society such as the increasing influence of media
and the breakdown of interpersonal communication.
The End and the Beginning is a Polish poem by Wislawa Szymborska which captures a wars
aftermath on its innocent citizens and how, in time, both the war and its origins are forgotten. It
thus shows how the values of a country or society may change over time as the views and opinions
of its citizens change.
The overall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This fragmentation is also visually portrayed through the jigsaw like paper game. Part way through
the film, a student fails to solve the puzzle leading to an outburst of anger, foreshadowing his final
act of violence.
Haneke has also used subtle film techniques to add to the sense of a breakdown of communication.
The camera is always positioned in such a way that makes the audience feel detached from the
characters. Rather than connecting emotionally with the characters, the audience is made to
analyse them, thus reflecting the emotionless state which our society has assumed with changing
values. The characters themselves are not named, allowing them to become representative of types
within society. The use of media is also present throughout the film with Haneke showing the
increasingly invasive presence of media within society as values change and mankind becomes
more technological and industrialised. By repeating the same articles at the end with the
embedding of the films event as another story, Haneke comments on how the media subsumes any
disturbance into the even surface of society and integrates it into the unending stream of trivialised
information.
The film also serves a didactic purpose, as Haneke highlights and criticises the blatant use of
violence in Hollywood action films, saying that his films are intended as polemical statements
against the American

Kevin Spacey Research Paper
The star of House of Cards, Kevin Spacey, is well known as a famous screen actor and film
director. In 2003, he eventually branched off from film and found his way becoming the artistic
director of the Old Vic, one of London s oldest theatres. Although it may seem like his transition
from film to theatre was arbitrary, you could actually say it was something of familiar territory
for him. In his early years, Spacey was originally sent to military school. However, after being
expelled for bad behavior he transferred to Los Angeles Chatsworth High School. There is where
his interest in acting really began, and it is also where he started his inexpert drama career.
According to biography.com, Spacey actually ended up graduating as co valedictorian. He was then
encouraged to go to Juilliard, a performing arts conservatory... Show more content on

He performed in Richard III, a Shakespeare production directed by Sam Mendes. Through all the
experience and training Spacey received in his lifetime, in this production he took his character
to the next level so to speak. In Richard III, Spacey used technique acting to precisely portray his
character as Richard. He worked on his outward appearance, like a humped back and twisted leg,
in order to help the audience visualize Richard and understand how his scarred personality
develops. As much as technique acting is the way to describe Spacey s acting development for
Richard III, he also didn t fall short in exposing Richards s emotional side during the production. I
would say Spacey is somewhat of an in between of method and technique acting. I say this because
during the time of Richard III death in the production, Spacey let the emotions of Richards sadness
and loneliness prevail. This actually plays a major part in completing one of the themes of the
show, which was Richard s entitlement of being the

Industrialization Dbq Essay
During the nineteenth century, the Industrial Revolution began to replace agriculture goods with
those of manufactured goods. With this revolution came the implementation of new technology,
new social classes, and social theories. In England, the Industrial Revolution had taken root much
faster than continental Europe, particularly in Manchester. A leading textile manufacturing center,
Manchester soon attained a mechanized cotton mill in 1780. With this increased capacity for
workers, Manchester s population increased quite significantly. The census of 1851 revealed there
to be over 300,000 citizens were previously in 1750 there were 18,000 citizens. The increase in
population mostly came from immigrants and the working class. The rapid growth... Show more

Manchester was overcrowded and cramped. Manchester grew rapidly from the 1750 s to the 1850
s population and infrastructure wise. Manchester during the 1750 s was relatively small compared
to the size of the city during the 1850 s. The city had nearly quadrupled in size (Doc. 1).
Assuming Manchester circa 1750 could support 18,000 people comfortably but circa 1850 the
city has to support 300,000 people without nearly enough space. This suggests the population per
area density increased substantially resulting in overcrowding. Robert Southey, an English
Romantic poet describes Manchester as a crowded city with buildings packed together. He also
notes Manchester is the second largest city in England both size and population wise (Doc. 2).
This gives an account of how cramped living conditions were in the cities from a person s
perspective. Southey has a negative view of city life and thus goes on to write about it in
Colloquies on the Progress and Prospects of Society. This is later refuted by Thomas B.
Macaulay, a member of Parliament and historian. Macaulay states Southey has an unrealistic view
of the world where peasants frolick in the countryside without a care in the world. Macaulay
believes city life is better for people because they have food, shelter, and healthcare (Doc. 3).
Macaulay is a member of Parliament and as such he must come from a certain income group mostly
represented in the upper quartile of

Examples Of Id Ego And Superego In Lord Of The Flies
Sigmund Freud created the structural model of personality that describes the id, ego, and
superego parts of a person. Id is represented as the devil and based on the pleasure and benefiting
themselves. Ego is the angel and devil together, where there is balance of good and bad. Lastly,
superego is shown as the angel with good behavior and morals. In Golding s book Lord of the
Flies, he uses Jack, Ralph, and Piggy to represent Sigmund Freuds theory of the three personalities:
id, ego, and superego.
Throughout the book, it can be noticed that Jack has the id personality. He wants to kill the pigs
not for the benefit of the group, but for himself. He can also be seen as the devil because of how
he acts. When Ralph and Jack were talking to each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the group were discussing about the fire, Piggy says, Cos the smoke s a signal and we
can t be rescued if we don t have smoke (173). Piggy is working to help out the boys by trying to
inform them about their situation, and how they can fix it together. Piggy is the voice of reason
out of all the boys by telling them how things will affect them as a group, and that is just like
how the superego tells the ego on how the action will influence society. Piggy always wants what
is best for the group, and wants them all to get off the island safely. When the group decided to
move the fire from the mountain, Golding describes, Piggy was so full of delight and
expanding liberty in Jack s departure, so full of pride in his contribution to the good of society,
that he helped to fetch wood (129). Piggy wants to guide the boys on the right path of survival,
and enjoys when he is able to help. His involvement in book by helping Ralph and the other boys
is based on the focus of the superego to help the needs of society.
Golding s Lord of the Flies takes the structural model of personality and uses it to represent Jack,
Ralph, and Piggy in the novel. He uses them to show how they interact with each other in society.
He wants the readers to understand that the id makes decisions and actions that feels good for
themselves, and not for others. The superego wants to help out society, and follow good morals,
but often gets overpowered and ignored by the id. Lasty, the ego is a balance of the two, and
listens to both the superego and the

The Man Who Was Almost a Man
I am going to write a sequel to the short passage, The Man Who Was Almost A Man, which was
written by Richard Wright. I am going to start from the time where Dave received the pistol, to
the time where he got in trouble. After buying the pistol, Dave walks around the fields with it,
admiring the gun but too scared and unsure of how to fire it. He is very anxious about firing the
gun. He waits until it s dark and he s sure everyone has already fallen asleep before going home,
and he puts the gun underneath his pillow instead of giving it to his mother as he d promised.
Mrs. Saunders approaches him in the middle of the night and quietly asks for the gun, but Dave
tells her that he stashed it outside and will give it to her in the morning. When he wakes up,
Dave removes the gun and holds it in his hands, realizing that he now has the power to actually
kill someone. He quietly gets out of bed and hides the pistol in his clothes. He then heads out to
the fields where he works, and he accidentally runs into his boss, Mr. Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins
knows this is very suspicious of Dave being out s early and Dave tells him he is just out trying to

Why Is Individual Liberty Important
I believe in individual liberty it is extremely importance to any society. One thing that is
important to an individual liberty is freedom, which I value the most today. Freedom give people
the opportunity to speak, the right to their own opinion and pursue happiness. Freedom is very
important to every human being because it gives you a chance to express yourself and give you

I feel that the laws for personal liberty go too far when a woman who is experiencing an unwanted
pregnancy and decide not to carry the baby to full term by terminating the pregnancy by utilizing
a safe and affordable abortion, society has been against abortion for years and have been trying
to stop legalizing abortion. This is a woman rights and should stay a woman chose to decide
whether she want to carry a baby full term or not. Stop legalizing abortion in my opinion would
not be in the best interest of the women. There could be several reasons why a woman doesn t
want to continue her pregnancy, it could be for reason like she was rape, not financially ready, to
young or to old, not marry, and not stable to start a family. I personally feel that having an abortion

Application At Queens University At The University Of...
Order and structure gives me a sense of direction. Process makes me comfortable. The steps and
process taught in Intro to Coaching Theories and Application at Queens University provided me
a logical path for taking a client through a productive coaching conversation. Truthfully, while the
process is straight forward and simple, the execution was not as easy as it looked. But I trusted
the process and with a help of a gracious volunteer coaching client, I m growing into a better
coach. Finding a coachable client made the following the process easier and perhaps a better
experience for the client. My client, Geneva, is a Project Manager in the Human Relations
Department at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. She s a co worker of
my daughter, Kathleen, who suggested that Geneva would be a good volunteer coachee for this
project. Kathleen made a brief introduction and then I followed up with an email to Geneva
explaining the project and asking about her interest in participation. She eagerly accepted my
invitation and we set up our first coaching session. The first meeting laid some important ground
work for our future interactions. In advance of that first session, I sent Geneva some thought starter
questions. These questions were designed to help me get to know Geneva a little better and
customize my coaching style in ways that would benefit her. What had been her experience with
coaching? What were her strengths? How did she

The Ultimate Test For Any Idea
EPR Paradox
The ultimate test for any idea, ranging from abstract philosophical concepts to objective
scientific theories, is the reality. What makes us to believe whether something is right or wrong
is how much that thing is compatible with reality. In physics, reality is the direct result of an
experiment; thus, we are forced to think about reality as observable reality . In fact, the
distinction between reality and observable reality is extremely important, since as a consequence
of this distinction, a logically correct theory may not necessary be correct while a logically non
satisfying theory may be completely correct (if it is also able to predict the result of a series of
experiments). Reality can encompasses any logical idea whether observable or unobservable, but
observable reality consist of only observable phenomena whether or not they seem logical. In the
case of Einstein s gedanken experiment concerning Quantum Mechanics known as EPR or EPR
Paradox we face the exact same difficulty; either taking EPR s word for believing in logically
desirable physical explanations, or just relying on experiments results and their consistency with
quantum mechanics which are far from being logically satisfying. In this paper, I shall tackle both
EPR gedanken experiment and the results of an experiment that contrasts EPR logical statements
in order to see if I can address the EPR paradox once for all. In Can Quantum Mechanical

Reflection Of The Film Corner In Wheat
Corner in Wheat Reflection Paper Corner in Wheat is a film created by D.W. Griffith in 1909. The
film focuses on the three divisions of the wheat market, which was rare at the time because most
films during the early twentieth century focused on people. The first division showcases the
farmers who grow the wheat. The next division portrays the Wheat King, a wealthy businessman
who controls the wheat market. The last division follows the bakery, the place that distributes the
wheat, and the consumers who purchase the bread that is made from the wheat. The filmhas a
variety of elements within the shots of the film. The depth of field is one of the elements that can
be viewed in Corner in Wheat. One of the last shots in the film is the farmersprinkling wheat on the
field. This shot shows how the camera moves from background to the front ground, which
presents deep space. The farmer is shown walking from a distance sprinkling the wheat,
eventually, as he continues walking he moves closer to the camera as he goes about his business.
The depth of the field of the farmer s field is different than the depth of field in the grain elevator.
D.W. Griffin emphasizes space with the background because of the layout which, directly extends
straight back to a door, making this shot have deep space. Moreover, the movement of the people
goes left to right. The staircase is on the left and stands near the hole where the wheat is falling into
the hole and the people are told to continue

Forensic Dentistry
Forensic dentistry, also known as forensic odontology is an important ,reliable source of
evidence in a criminal investigation which is both accessible and unique. One of the early
applications of forensic dentistry was in the death of Agrippa, the mother of Roman Emperor

forensic dentistry is not a new occurrence. ( Freeman). Forensic dentistry is related to my Shop

In these cases, accurate dental records can often help to make a positive identification on
unknown damaged bodies. In addition, dentures help to find victims without identification due
to some bone melting and what, not dentures do not damage that easily. In cases like this, dental
records indicate if the person had dentures or what other easily identified characteristics there are
within a person s jaw. In some cases, it is naturally easier to identify a person with dentures, as
they are custom made for the wearer.Tooth structure is very durable due to enamel ,which
provides a strong coating over the teeth. Similarly, dentures are durable enough to survive a lot
of wear and tear. Dental records were most likely the primary source of identification after the
911 attacks in New York in 2001 ( Mady). In horrific cases like 9/11 dental records often have to
be used, because every other source of DNA, like hair, will burn in the disaster. When a body
burns it is completely demolished in minutes , and this is a good reason to use forensic dentistry
to identify bodies which are burned, traumatized, or in other ways made to be difficult to identify,

Similarities Between The American Society In The 1950s And...
American society today has been shaped by years past. After the Second World War, U.S.
inhabitants dedicated their lives and time to shape and improve America s culture to the way it is
today. Through the decades of the 1950s and today, the society has changed through scientific and
technological advances. On the other hand, aspects of the culture have not changed because its
citizens have yet to advance in those areas. American culture in 1950sand today have numerous
similarities In the 50s, cars were flashier and more luxurious than ever...and used as a symbol of
status. Similarly, today, upscale vehicles are still flashy and sleek...and upper class consumers use
them to show the status of their wealth. Depending on the income that people earn, cars that
contain more features are of better quality and class. Secondly, in the 1950s, ads had begun to
seek out the attention on marketing for children. The products sold have cartoon characters and
bright colors. In the modern era, citizens use similar tactics, using bright colors that are put at eye
level. Children appeal to bright colors and characters when a company advertises on T.V. or in
stores. Next, huge department stores became popular due to middle class increased power on
spending. Now, the large chain department stores of Dillard s and Macy s are still very popular.
People enjoy going out and just spending their money on the inventories that each department store
has. Then in the 50s, fast food became a

Re:WRITING SAMPLE 1
Its been quite a long time here I have been interning at one of the most prestigious and reputed
company, Google and I am proud that its code of conduct is designed around the motto Don t be
evil , emphasizing challenging ethical scenarios and rigorous service policy. Google made this
motto a central pillar of its corporate identity, outlining various ethical issues relating to workplace
and environment.
Information privacy can be stated as a choice of an individual person to share his/her personal
information with others and with advancements in technology, its becoming unmanageable to
regulate it. Customers have chosen to trust many companies with their information in trade for
the services they have to offer. Google also provides various services that store large amount of
data about its users. Google s first product was the search engine where privacy issues began to
surface as it caches a users previous search. Google states in its privacy policy, We use cookies to
improve the quality of our service by storing user preferences and tracking user trends, such as
how people search. These cookies were initially thought to be accessed by the websites only;
however, with increased advertising they can be accessed by all those who want it. This does not

  • 2. Essay on The Role of the Chorus in Ancient Greek Tragedies The chorus s perspective of justice works differently in Euripides Medea and Aeschylus The Libation Bearers. In both The Libation Bearers and Medea, the driving force of vengeance links the chorus to each of the play s protagonists. For both plays, the choruses begin with a strong support of their heroes with a belief that the course of action that those characters are pursuing for the sake of avenging the wrongs done to them or their families is just and right. The chorus of Medea, however, moves away from that original conviction in the moral justification of revenge. Over the course of The Libation Bearers, the chorus also begins to express doubt in the validity of the true value in the cycle of deaths that the system of revenge... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chorus supports Orestes revenge against his mother Clytemnestra for killing his father primarily because a successful outcome of an action against Clytemnestra and Aegisthus would eliminate some of their cause for suffering. However, Orestes revenge against his mother and Aegisthus also meets the justice of the law of retribution, which the chorus defines: Justice turns the wheel. Word for word, curse for curse be born now, Justice thunders, hungry for retribution, stroke for bloody stroke be paid. The one who acts must suffer. (Libation Bearers 192) The law of retribution describes true justice as revenge, without very much in the way of logical moderation or consideration. This concept of justice shows the reasoning of Medea s actions. By this system, the pain that Jason s betrayal gave her necessarily must be repaid by an equal or greater pain that Medea would inflict on Jason. The chorus of both The Libation Bearers and Medea experience similar shifts in perspective once their protagonists have properly decided to take action against those characters who have wronged them in some manner. Directly following the prayers of Orestes and Electra in The Libation Bearers, the chorus says, The flesh crawls to hear them pray./ The hour of doom has waited long (Libation Bearers 197), clearly showing that the chorus, despite having urged Orestes on in taking ... Sex discrimination act 1975 This act applies for both men and women. It promotes that both men and women should be treated equally. For example, in transport, education, jobs etc. It promotes anti discriminatory practice by making sure those men and women are treated equally, if this act applies didn t exist, men and women may be deprived of certain choices. This also connects to the equality act 2010 as it makes it illegal to discriminate directly or indirectly against someone with a mental health condition within public services and functions, access to any premises, work, education, associations, and finally transport. D1 For this task, I am going to evaluate the success of the recent initiative in promoting anti discriminatory practice. I am going to evaluate the mental health act 1983 and how the act s initiatives promotes anti discriminatory practice and I am also going to compare the amended version in 2007 and how this has promoted anti discriminatory practice and how it has improved people s lives. The mental health act was created in 1983 to make society as fair as possible but it also has had some negative areas. The act says about the removal of people with mental disorders. This could be seen as discrimination e.g. marginalisation because you would be making someone feel isolated from society and feel as if they could not be part of that certain part of the community. This act is purely to help and protect those with mental health issues and safeguard those around them. This act was updated from 2001 and finalised in 2007 because the language used in the act was changed. Also issues, treatments on different conditions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Survey On The Healthcare System Essay Introduction Some believe the healthcare may be the most scrutinized industry out there today (Ashrafi, Kelleher Kuiboer, 2014). As the government continues to reform the U.S. healthcare system away from a fee for service to a value based model, many institutions are turning to business intelligence (BI) and analytics for assistance. Moving forward providers of healthcare are responsible for the overall care of patients from admission, discharge and now if the patient returns for the same issue. According to Graaff and Austin, the push by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid organization for meaningful use stage 2 requirements, was one of the first changes to place emphasis in the area of BI within the industry. Although healthcare continues use utilize BI to aid with improving quality of care, operational efficiencies, controlling costs and staying ahead of competitors to name a few. Per a study conducted by Deloitte, health system analytics may be the missing key to unlock value based care (Morris, Mittal, Chang Shukla, 2015). A survey by Teksystems conducted in 2014, stated that roughly 58 percent of physician practices and hospitals stated their organization has not yet implement a BI solution. Regardless of the numbers, many healthcare organizations have experienced success with the adoption of BI. Not to mention enabling better decision making throughout the entire organization. Despite the fact that we concede to this essential truth, underage drinking is still a noteworthy issue in our nation. Since adolescents need development and information with regards to liquor, they put themselves, as well as others in incredible danger when they decide to consume. Regardless of the risk, there are individuals out there who believe that the drinking age should be lowered. However, their argument is weak, and when taken into consideration, I still firmly believe that the drinking age should not be lowered. Underage drinking can prompt an extensive assortment of issues including health problems, addiction, sexual assault, drunk driving accidents, and death. • 11. Comparing Herodotus And De Vaca s Writing Styles A Comparison of Styles Herodotus versus de Vaca Throughout the course of the world, there have been many great civilizations that have risen and fallen from power. Many of these civilizations are remembered not only through the texts or works that they themselves produced, but through the writings of later historians. Herodotus was an example of a later historian, because he wrote about a civilization of old, de Vaca was a historian of the moment because he covered a civilization as he experienced it. The contrast in the two styles is plainly evident for the most part in the two literary pieces. Herodotus has a very distinct style compared to de Vaca and as de Vaca s works came later it can be assumed that he was partially influenced by Herodotus. The three main areas that Herodotus and de Vaca s works differ are the time period in which they wrote their pieces, how they regarded their subject matter, and who they were writing about. As before mentioned, one of the biggest differences between Herodotus and de Vaca is the time period in which they wrote their pieces. Herodotus was a later historian ... Why is it that donating a kidney is looked at with with praise while some argue selling your kidney is seen as morally wrong, Is selling body parts or even sex for payment unethical or ethical, at what point do we cross the line between immoral and moral. I agree, though with some reservations. For instance only allow the selling of certain body parts if the body is born with a pair of it for instance kidneys. Both kidneys are healthy and you can spare one without damaging your own health. Even liver transplants won t damage your health as the liver heals fairly quickly and leaves nothing but a scar, bone marrow transplants are also safe since bone marrow and liver are regenerative. The process that is used to select a memorialare proper place, sensitivity of memorial, materials used, and the design itself. A major question to ask is if the monument is being put in the proper place. Would you want a statue of George Washington in the middle of a Native American Reserve? I think not. The Garden Of Eden In The Book Of Genesis The Book of Genesis offers a simple and straightforward creation of the universe; over the period of just seven days, God creates life on Earth with several elements: the sky, heaven, dry land and living creatures. This philosophical creation story finds itself ingrained in countless Christians. The Book of Genesisshould be respected because it shapes how we think our godlooks at us and how we think of our god. On the other hand, these chapters are utterly unreasonable especially when one considers the metaphors. These chapters tried to brainwash my mind with subtle fallacies of how authority should be unquestionable. How is this established through the punishment of Adam and Eve? NFL rules stipulate that footballs must be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch and weigh between 14 and 15 ounces. Former NFL official Jim Daopoulos, in an interview with ESPN on Monday morning, explained the process in which footballs are managed. Two hours and 15 minutes before each game, officials inspect 12 footballs from each team and put a mark on them to indicate they meet the proper requirements and are good for usage. Then those footballs are given to the ball attendant. There also is a second set of six footballs, used specifically for the kicking game, that are marked appropriately and remain in the possession of officials at all times. Officials check balls as they go into the game, and if the ball doesn t feel perfect, they can throw it out, Daopoulos said. There is always the possibility that balls can lose air due to the conditions. A team can be fined if it is found to be knowingly altering the weight of the football. The NFL s game operations manual states: Once the balls have left the locker room, no one, including players, equipment managers, ball boys, and coaches, is allowed to alter the footballs in any way. If any individual alters the footballs, or if a non approved ball is used in the game, the person responsible and, if appropriate, the head coach or other club personnel will be subject to discipline, including but not limited to, a fine of $25,000. The poem The End and the Beginning by Wislawa Szymborska and the Austrian film 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance by Michael Haneke accomplish this by exemplifying issues in 1990s society such as the increasing influence of media and the breakdown of interpersonal communication. The End and the Beginning is a Polish poem by Wislawa Szymborska which captures a wars aftermath on its innocent citizens and how, in time, both the war and its origins are forgotten. This fragmentation is also visually portrayed through the jigsaw like paper game. Part way through the film, a student fails to solve the puzzle leading to an outburst of anger, foreshadowing his final act of violence. Haneke has also used subtle film techniques to add to the sense of a breakdown of communication. The camera is always positioned in such a way that makes the audience feel detached from the characters. Rather than connecting emotionally with the characters, the audience is made to analyse them, thus reflecting the emotionless state which our society has assumed with changing values. The characters themselves are not named, allowing them to become representative of types within society. The use of media is also present throughout the film with Haneke showing the increasingly invasive presence of media within society as values change and mankind becomes more technological and industrialised. By repeating the same articles at the end with the embedding of the films event as another story, Haneke comments on how the media subsumes any disturbance into the even surface of society and integrates it into the unending stream of trivialised information. The film also serves a didactic purpose, as Haneke highlights and criticises the blatant use of violence in Hollywood action films, saying that his films are intended as polemical statements against the American ... In 2003, he eventually branched off from film and found his way becoming the artistic director of the Old Vic, one of London s oldest theatres. Although it may seem like his transition from film to theatre was arbitrary, you could actually say it was something of familiar territory for him. In his early years, Spacey was originally sent to military school. However, after being expelled for bad behavior he transferred to Los Angeles Chatsworth High School. There is where his interest in acting really began, and it is also where he started his inexpert drama career. According to biography.com, Spacey actually ended up graduating as co valedictorian. He worked on his outward appearance, like a humped back and twisted leg, in order to help the audience visualize Richard and understand how his scarred personality develops. As much as technique acting is the way to describe Spacey s acting development for Richard III, he also didn t fall short in exposing Richards s emotional side during the production. I would say Spacey is somewhat of an in between of method and technique acting. With this revolution came the implementation of new technology, new social classes, and social theories. In England, the Industrial Revolution had taken root much faster than continental Europe, particularly in Manchester. A leading textile manufacturing center, Manchester soon attained a mechanized cotton mill in 1780. With this increased capacity for workers, Manchester s population increased quite significantly. The census of 1851 revealed there to be over 300,000 citizens were previously in 1750 there were 18,000 citizens. The increase in population mostly came from immigrants and the working class. Manchester during the 1750 s was relatively small compared to the size of the city during the 1850 s. The city had nearly quadrupled in size (Doc. 1). Assuming Manchester circa 1750 could support 18,000 people comfortably but circa 1850 the city has to support 300,000 people without nearly enough space. This suggests the population per area density increased substantially resulting in overcrowding. Robert Southey, an English Romantic poet describes Manchester as a crowded city with buildings packed together. He also notes Manchester is the second largest city in England both size and population wise (Doc. 2). This gives an account of how cramped living conditions were in the cities from a person s perspective. Southey has a negative view of city life and thus goes on to write about it in Colloquies on the Progress and Prospects of Society. This is later refuted by Thomas B. Macaulay, a member of Parliament and historian. Macaulay states Southey has an unrealistic view of the world where peasants frolick in the countryside without a care in the world. Macaulay believes city life is better for people because they have food, shelter, and healthcare (Doc. 3). Id is represented as the devil and based on the pleasure and benefiting themselves. Ego is the angel and devil together, where there is balance of good and bad. Lastly, superego is shown as the angel with good behavior and morals. In Golding s book Lord of the Flies, he uses Jack, Ralph, and Piggy to represent Sigmund Freuds theory of the three personalities: id, ego, and superego. Piggy always wants what is best for the group, and wants them all to get off the island safely. When the group decided to move the fire from the mountain, Golding describes, Piggy was so full of delight and expanding liberty in Jack s departure, so full of pride in his contribution to the good of society, that he helped to fetch wood (129). Finding a coachable client made the following the process easier and perhaps a better experience for the client. My client, Geneva, is a Project Manager in the Human Relations Department at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. She s a co worker of my daughter, Kathleen, who suggested that Geneva would be a good volunteer coachee for this project. Kathleen made a brief introduction and then I followed up with an email to Geneva explaining the project and asking about her interest in participation. She eagerly accepted my invitation and we set up our first coaching session. The first meeting laid some important ground work for our future interactions. In advance of that first session, I sent Geneva some thought starter questions. These questions were designed to help me get to know Geneva a little better and customize my coaching style in ways that would benefit her. What had been her experience with coaching? What were her strengths? How did she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Ultimate Test For Any Idea EPR Paradox The ultimate test for any idea, ranging from abstract philosophical concepts to objective scientific theories, is the reality. What makes us to believe whether something is right or wrong is how much that thing is compatible with reality. In physics, reality is the direct result of an experiment; thus, we are forced to think about reality as observable reality . In fact, the distinction between reality and observable reality is extremely important, since as a consequence of this distinction, a logically correct theory may not necessary be correct while a logically non satisfying theory may be completely correct (if it is also able to predict the result of a series of experiments). Reality can encompasses any logical idea whether observable or unobservable, but observable reality consist of only observable phenomena whether or not they seem logical. In the case of Einstein s gedanken experiment concerning Quantum Mechanics known as EPR or EPR Paradox we face the exact same difficulty; either taking EPR s word for believing in logically desirable physical explanations, or just relying on experiments results and their consistency with quantum mechanics which are far from being logically satisfying. In this paper, I shall tackle both EPR gedanken experiment and the results of an experiment that contrasts EPR logical statements in order to see if I can address the EPR paradox once for all. In Can Quantum Mechanical Description of Physical Reality Be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Reflection Of The Film Corner In Wheat Corner in Wheat Reflection Paper Corner in Wheat is a film created by D.W. Griffith in 1909. The film focuses on the three divisions of the wheat market, which was rare at the time because most films during the early twentieth century focused on people. The first division showcases the farmers who grow the wheat. The next division portrays the Wheat King, a wealthy businessman who controls the wheat market. The last division follows the bakery, the place that distributes the wheat, and the consumers who purchase the bread that is made from the wheat. The filmhas a variety of elements within the shots of the film. The depth of field is one of the elements that can be viewed in Corner in Wheat. One of the last shots in the film is the farmersprinkling wheat on the field. This shot shows how the camera moves from background to the front ground, which presents deep space. The farmer is shown walking from a distance sprinkling the wheat, eventually, as he continues walking he moves closer to the camera as he goes about his business. The depth of the field of the farmer s field is different than the depth of field in the grain elevator. D.W. Griffin emphasizes space with the background because of the layout which, directly extends straight back to a door, making this shot have deep space. Moreover, the movement of the people goes left to right. The staircase is on the left and stands near the hole where the wheat is falling into the hole and the people are told to continue ...
