Florida State University Scholarship Essay
Growing up in poverty meant always being in a pinch for money. This led me to my decision of
seeking a job within the first month of my freshman year in high school. Thankfully, this
decision led me to the precious self taught skill of time management. I was able to build my
skills until my sophomore year. I tried to take on more shifts at work than I could handle, in
aspiration of saving up for a car, and consequently my grades began to slip. I acquired my first C
in my favorite class: Chemistry. Being an aspiring student in the medical field, and a student
who prides themselves on their grades, I was devastated. As a result, I soon reached the
epiphany that one has to have priorities in life; I chose mine to be education. I discussed with
my boss my situation and she gave me a set schedule of a doable 4 days a week. This allowed me
to do my homework and studying in advance. This also permitted me to get enough sleep,... Show

The Essential Events of Adolf Hitler Essay
One of the utmost well known public figures in the record of the world is Adolf Hitler. Adolf
Hitler s influence on the twentieth century is far more than any other person. Several superiors
have had motivations of controlling the world, but limited have had the intensity or authority to
even endeavor world dominance. Even though, his acts were not explained, Hitler came to be the
most leading man in the world. Whether this effect is thought to be good or not, Hitler s impact on
the world, is unquestionable. Hitler was only the few people who had the capacity to halter a group

I think that this is at times is habitually true. In the case of Hitler he was mostly vicious to others;
verbally and physical later on when in power. I believe that the violence from his father may have
come within in his engagements and choices in the future. I do identify this to be an essential event
that influence his behaviors. However, I do think the circumstance that his family was poor and the
fact he was mistreated by his father, that this would urge Adolf to do things that was meaningful to
him.
Adolf, did well at primary school and was believed to have a sharp intellectual upcoming, and
even at his young age he was respected for his leadership potentials. Though, once he arrive at
secondary school his characteristic of misbehaving beginning to be reveal. When he discovered
that he was no longer the highest of his class he opted that if he was not going to be at the top that
there was no reason in attempting, hence he gave up. Adolf s father was deceased in 1903 when
Adolf was in his early teenage years. Adolf was influenced by his fathers passing but their
connection have been declining before he died. Adolf s father entrusted the household with

Metis Struggle for Self Identification Essay
Metis Struggle for Self Identification
One of the most contentious issues in Canada s history is that of the Metis. Some people feel this
unique group of people does not deserve any sort of recognition, whereas others believe their
unique history and culture is something to be recognized and cherished. The history of the Metis
people is filled with struggle; not only struggles against other powers, but also a struggle for self
identification. Despite strong opposition, the Metis people of Canada have matured as a political
force and have taken great strides towards being recognized as a unique people. The word Metis is
a French word that means: mixed race . Today it is often used for anyone who has European Indian

The most sought after reason for the envy was because of the jobs they were offered. If they
were able to read and write, they were in huge demand at one of the trading companies. Some
would follow in their fathers footsteps and become trappers and traders, a few Metis would even
become chiefs of Indian tribes , because of their knowledge of the white man. The circumstances
that existed at this time encouraged the Metis people to begin to formulate their own identity. In the
early parts of the 17th century, France created the Voyageur system . Voyageurs were labourers who
would transport trade goods between First Nations peoples and the French trading posts . They
functioned under very strict French and Church law. Eventually, several European and Metis
individuals and groups began to trade without the French state s approval. These traders were
called couriers de bois and were vilified by both France and the Church . Since the couriers de
bois acted as free agents, France, and later England, could not profit from transactions made by
the couriers. To counteract the loss in potential revenue, strict measures were created to prevent
the couriers de bois from doing any business. These strict measures were called the conge system,
this was a licensing system where by not more than seventy five traders would go to the west each
year . Many traders were arrested, and often, were saved only because of strong ties

Social And Economic Problems Faced By Michigan
Along with challenges and battles, Michigan has made it a long ways in a very diverse range of
areas. History is what brings us to where we are today. Throughout time, I believe that every
leader, politician, and good citizen strived to crate a better place to live. If this is true than the
strides that Michigan has made to become the best it can be are due to the love and devotion that
michiganders have to their sate and their country. Just because people try to do good and do their
best to promote a safe, equal, and problem free society, does not mean that it is possible. In this
essay I plan to explore the social and economic problems faced my Michigan as they entered the

In 1936 the orphanage was turned into a home for children with mental disabilities. A
reimbursement act (in which you are partially reimbursed) was placed in 1949 for the school
districts who held classes for the children with mental disabilities. Half of a decade later, a law
was passed in which allowed counties to collect tax money in order to implement programs
designed for children with handicaps. This groundswell of grassroots advocacy led to the more
recent history of special education in America, which commenced with Congressional approval of
the Education for All Handicapped Children Act(Public Law 94 142) on November 29, 1975. This
law was intended to support states and localities in protecting the rights of, meeting the
individual needs of, and improving the results for infants, toddlers, children and youths with
disabilities and their families . ( History of Special Education. ). This was a major stride that
Michigan took in which helped us reach where we are today with special education. Now, For
Michigan s 200,000 students with an Individualized Education Programs (IEP), it has been a long,
treacherous, and disappointing road to what we call a Free Appropriate Pubic Education (Bailey).

A Doll s House By Henrik Ibsen
A good book is a book that touches a reader s heart by either being relatable or with great character
development. Cheris Karmarae, a woman s rights activist, stated, Feminism is the radical notion
that women are human beings. This statement is relevant to A Doll s House and is relatable to the
female audience. Not only does A Doll s House incorporate relevant matters, it includes great
characterdevelopment in the protagonist, Nora. Her display of bravery moved many readers.
Unlike A Doll s House, Frankenstein, which is quite fictitious, may appear to not be relatable.
From the summer readings assigned for Sophomore World Literature, A Doll s House, a play
written by Henrik Ibsencaptures the reader s heart while the novel, Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley
was unappealing and uninteresting. Ibsen sets his play, A Doll s House, in an era that captures
the female audience as he shows the hardships of women that are relatable and brilliantly uses
those obstacles for character development while Frankenstein loses interest as it is lengthy due
to its tone and revels on details that are not relevant to the plot. A Doll s House is set in the late
1800 s when women s rights and roles in society was a controversial topic. Ibsen displays Nora as
an ordinary mother and wife going through every day life but incorporates obstacles relevant to the
time to show how they affect women. Women were often stay home mothers who catered to their
children s and husband s needs. HELMER. First

John Christopher Dep Essay
As we have discussed in class, star persona is when an actor or actress have been categorized into
specific roles because of previous similar characters they chose to perform as in multiple movies,
skits, and or television series. Obviously, as a new comer into the Hollywood acting business
coming from Kentucky with his wife, John Christopher Depp had the power to become anyone
he wanted to be, and even now he has the power to try to be the person he might not want to be,
but need to be for the better sake of his career. Starting off his career with such a strong force
really allowed Depp to be launched further into the television and filmindustry. As stated in IMDb,
Depp starred in a low budget horror film, The Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), roughly around
$1,800,000. And in 1987, Depp went onto the hit television show 21 Jump Street to replace Jeff
Yagher. Depp at first, you could argue, started off well with a mixture of genres in various movies

many others; these characters gripped the audience, the critics. Yet after watching several of Depp
s movies, people noticed he always had this dark aura towards him, and if not, he was too
immature and uncontrollable. Depp says in an article by Elizabeth Wagele called Johnny Depp,

Hobby Lobby
Hobby Lobby Practice what you Preach An organization, in its simplest form, is comprised of
people brought together to achieve a common goal whether it be solving a problem, selling a
product or providing a service. The existence of the organization is wholly dependent on the
collective body of individuals involved and it is these individuals that are the driving force behind
the success or failure of a company. The relationships that connect the people within the
organization dictate how the culture is developed and perceived. Organizational cultureis the
summation of the underlying organizational values manifesting as collective assumptions, attitudes,

Integrating Christian principles into the work environment can be a challenge in today s secular
climate however one avenue that Hobby Lobby uses to effectively demonstrate their values is
through their store hours. Signs posted at their stores state that they are closed Sundays to allow
employees time with their families and time to worship. This however is the only discernible
illustration of their core values. When asked about how they characterize biblical principles the
employee responses were varied and sometimes ambiguous. Of the few employees who were able
to define what biblical principles signified to them, a common theme appeared. More than one
employee referred to the biblical passage Mathew 7:12 the Golden Rule, roughly translated into do
unto others as you would have others do unto you. Other illustrations were doing the right thing and
having faith in the people around you .
Basic Assumptions The third and deepest level of organizational culture posited by Edgar Schein is
basic assumptions. Basic or underlying assumptions are the unconscious and intangible
mechanisms that become ingrained and provide a sense of security. Often taken for granted, these
assumptions are communicated through behavior and non verbal cues reflecting the enacted values
within the organization which may or may not correspond with espoused values expressed by
leadership (Nelson amp; Quick, 2011).

Biography of Muhammad Ali Essay
Biography of Muhammad Ali
Muhammad Ali is the Quintessential American. In his stand for religious and racial freedom, for
his humility, generosity, braggadocio, deep and abiding physical and mental courage, though
always larger than life Ali exhibited many typical and deep rooted
American traits. He struck a number of positively resonant notes in the American psyche, that make
him now a revered person (Walter). Muhammad Aliis a widely known person, not only for being
one of the all time greatest fighters in history, but also for being one of the most prominent and
influential persons of the twentieth century. Muhammad Ali was not always called by that name,

Americans, at this point, were not to fond of
Ali. They continued to call him Cassius Clay and rooted for him to lose in upcoming matches, but
Ali continued to be unstoppable in the ring. As the years went on Ali went on winning but the years
were passing and that was having some affect on him. In 1970
Muhammad fought against Jerry Quarry and even though Ali did win the fight it was noticeable
that he was moving slower than he did in the late 1960 s. He began taking more punches instead of
dodging and dancing from them like he used to do, but he was also stronger this time around. Out
to recapture the title of Heavyweight Champion, Ali jumped back into training camp to train. The
bout was one of three legendary fights between Ali and
Frazier. Since the title was taken from him and was not lost in the ring many people felt
Ali was still rightfully the Heavyweight Champion. Ali openly ridiculed Frazier showing lack of
fear for his opponent. Despite all of Ali s negative remarks, Frazier was a tough opponent. The
actual fight was even in the early rounds, but Ali was absorbing more punishment than he ever did
before. In the fifteenth round the unthinkable happened:
Frazier hit Ali on the jaw with a bone crushing left hook and that knocked him to the canvas. Ali
did bounce back up as fast as he went down, but when the fight ended, it was clear that Frazier
was the winner. It was Ali s first professional loss but he was not ready

Waterfall and Extreme Programming are two software project methods used for project
management. Although there are a number of opinions comparing the two methods regarding how
they should be applied, none have used project data to clearly conclude which one is better. In this

The faculty decided to use Extreme Programming as the method for the Foundations course
because it was an agile method, it had good engineering practices, and it was a safe sandbox
environment for engineers to try paired programming since many managers in industry were
initially skeptical about its benefits. In 2005, the faculty allowed three of the sixteen teams tried
our new curriculum to see if there were any serious issues in the switch, while other thirteen teams
continued to follow a start point in 2004. The feedback was extremely positive so in 2006, all
teams followed Extreme Programming. For the project plan duration, Waterfall teams needed
fifteen weeks to finish their tasks where as Extreme Programming teams were given only thirteen
weeks, a 13% reduction in time.

scratch would be easier than working with the existing code base. Team 30:1 decided to use the
latest in Java technologies including Swing and Hibernate. PET 1.1, the team s product became the
starting point for the students in the following year.
1.2.3. PET 1.2: In 2008, the faculty switched the core technology from Java to Ruby on

The Period of Enlightened Absolutism in Europe
The period of enlightened absolutism across all of Europe revealed a significant change in the
processes and objectives of rulers during this time period. The great philosopher, Machiavelli,
approached the reason that a ruler should present two qualities in order to drive a successful
community. A ruler needed to behave both like a lion and like a fox he believed. These two traits
can be seen clearly in two foremost rulers during this time period. Catherine the Great of Russia
and Elizabeth I of Englandhad clearly fulfilled the suggestion made by Machiavelli. These two
iconic rulers met the proposition made by Machiavelli by enforcing both aggressive, but yet clever
procedures against other countries and the poor in order to create a better country for themselves.
Catherine the Great had a very strong powerful army that she used to her advantage to expand her
empire while Elizabeth I avoided the wars and went behind the back to attack Spanish armadas. Sir
Francis Drake was an English Sea Captain who had undertaken a major voyage against Spanish
ports and ships to the Caribbean in 1585 and 1586, and in 1587 had made a successful raid on
Cadiz, destroying the Spanish fleet of war ships. It is seen here that Elizabeth I avoided the war
and hired Francis Drake to take over. Furious with this, Philip II had decided to take the war to
England. England defeated Spain greatly and sent them back home. Elizabeth was invited to give a
speech to her troops. She said, My loving

The Role Of The Anti-Church In The Late 19th Century
The first session of Vatican I was on the 8th of December 1869, in Saint Peter s Basilica in Rome
and was led by Pope Pius IX.
In the 1800s the world was changing. People wanted more control over their own lives. The French
Revolution saw the destruction of the monarchy and aristocracy. The people started to think for
themselves and wanted a say in who ruled them. They fought for Liberty, Equality and Brotherhood.
The industrial revolution in England brought great changes there as well, as people moved into the
cities and obtained jobs. People in America and a lot of European countries were gaining more
rights and freedoms. Encouraged by these changes, the people in the states in northern and southern
Italy also wanted more freedom and independence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rationalism used reason and knowledge rather than religious belief or emotional response to form
opinions and actions. Liberalism recognised the rule of law, individual rights and legislative law
over executive power. Materialism was when physical comfort and lots of possessions were more
important than spiritual values.
In 1864, Pope Pius IX wrote the Syllabus of Errors for the laity. This condemned about 80 different
reforms which were occurring in Europe, including the three already mentioned. The church
followed this document until the second Vatican Council.
It took about four years of secret planning with Bishops and Cardinals before the Council
assembled in 1869. For the first time, Bishops from countries outside Europe joined European
Bishops at Vatican I. The main purpose of Vatican I was to define the Catholic doctrine, establish
the Church beliefs and Papal infallibility, and denounce new ideas of the time such as rationalism,
liberalism and materialism. Pope Pius IX called for an Ecumenical Council to implement papal
authority and make clear Catholic beliefs which had come under attack by Enlightenment thinkers,
for example, the first Vatican Council (Vatican I) began in 1869 at Saint Peter s Basilica and was
attended by almost seven hundred bishops and other church leaders. At Vatican I, the bishops
officially proclaimed Papal infallibility, and raised the question of the authority of the bishops.
Interruption by Italian troops meant that the authority of the bishops was not finalised until Vatican
II in the

stayed in the same place for several days and did not stop. Social media had a huge effect on
how this tragedy played out. Where help was being sent, who was okay and who was not okay.
People resorted to using their phones to check on people and letting people know where help

After everything slowed down and recovery started, everyone stuck together as a community.
People posted GoFundMe pages on Facebook, started groups to start going out to neighborhoods
to help work on houses also on Facebook, fundraiser concerts were promoted on Instagram. The
local news stations showed where to go and what forms to fill out if they needed help with

Doug s Short Story
As Doug and I walked into the room, the old familiar smell of band crept around me. A smell
best described as a mix of dirty carpet and metal; the majority of my free time in middle/ high
school was spent within the realm. Now 18, and out of high school, I set out to help Doug with
his band s halftime show, due to his shortage of staff, a task which seemed very easy at the time.
Following the first day, however, I abruptly found out how difficult the task was and the degree of
perseverance needed to be a successful tech. Dougis my cousin s fiance and the band teacher at a
private catholic school. Slender in build, polite and talented, we hadn t spent much time together
prior to the upcoming week. But based off of past encounters, I sensed the two of us would
easily get along. Before the first day began, Doug had given me a folder containing the show
music. The brown cardboard folder, held about twenty pages of show music, with the titles:
Jurassic Park Fantasy , Indiana Jones , and Stars Wars/E.T , a playlist meant to honor the famous
composer: John Williams. But for the week, Doug noted, we would mainly focus on Jurassic Park.
And as I scanned through the pages, it definitely seemed reachable. The rhythms had been
simplified to accommodate a high schoollevel and the note ranges also seemed easier. Now sitting
in Doug s office, awaiting the arrival of the children, I asked Doug, What s the plan for today?
More importantly... when s lunch? . With a

Teen Pregnancy And Teenage Pregnancy
Teen pregnancy is something that affects over one million young teens in the United States. For
some, these pregnancies are planned but 85% of these teens the pregnancy is unplanned. This can
cause a lot of endless problems in the life of the teen and the newborn child. There are a lot of
things that can cause an unplanned teen pregnancy, such as teens experimenting with sexual
encounters at a young age. Another major cause is the lack of guidance due to guardians that are
blind or do not want to believe in such activities. These causes can have devastating effects on the
teen and the newborn in the household. Some effects of early pregnancy will include an
unexpected rise of responsibility for the teen and can cause many health concerns for both teen and
newborn child.
Teens experimenting are the leading cause in the unplanned pregnancies. As a teenager in high
school ages there are a lot of peer pressures. Such as experimenting with alcohol and unprotected
sexual intercourse. Drinking and the use of narcotics also largely have an impact on the judgment
of the teen before the pre pregnancy comes about. Experimenting can cause many effects on the
teen and the relationships at hand, including the relationships with the baby s mom or dad and also
the parents of the teens. Another way of experimenting is the pregnancy caused in the sequel of
either a long time dating of the boyfriend or the other case of those random one night stands or
hook ups. Experimenting can be well

The Criminal Justice System Is Fair And True
Most people in America believe that our criminal justice system is fair and true. The idea that any
free citizen could be unjustly sentenced to prison or executed by the state is thought of as false.
Unfortunately now a days the judicial process has been infiltrated with false confessions,
eyewitness misidentification, improper forensic science, perjury, ineffective defense counsels,
messy police investigations and prosecutorial misconduct. Our criminal justicesystem is based on
the concept that every wrong has a cause and effect, thus forcing us to punish any and all offenders,
but with all the faults in our system how do we know who s guilty of committing the crime? Most of
the time this is when wrongful convictions occurs. A simple definition of wrongful conviction is
when innocent defendants are found guilty in criminal trials. Frequently these innocent defendants
are forced to go as far as to plead guilty to avoid death penalties or long prisonsentences. The
Number of wrongly convicted persons cannot be known with certainty, because no federal or state
agency keeps track of exonerations, let alone wrongful convictions. Many news stories, reports and
books fairly describe wrongful convictions in detail, although not all of these wrongful convictions
resulted in formal exonerations. In some of these cases, prosecutors insisted that the original verdict
was accurate despite strong new evidence of factual innocence, further clouding an understanding of
wrongful

Christopher Columbus, Andrew Jackson, And President Van Buren
This war began when the White man crossed the Atlantic Ocean in search of independence. They
left Europe and slowly began fighting for a better life which eventually led to their break away
from the harsh brutalities of the British government. When, in all reality, their search for
independence led to the abolishment of the freedom of the Native Americans. Instead of placing
light onto this subject, it is swept under the rug in schools across America today. I believe that the
way the American government chose to gain territory was selfish and ignorant and led to the loss
of many cultures and precious lives. Some of the ways this happened was by the removal of rights,
battles, untruthful treaties, and confiscation of land. In many ways American history books and
movies portray Christopher Columbus, Andrew Jackson, and President Van Buren to be American
heroes, but these so called heroes are actually murderers, thieves, and liars. Jackson and Van Buren
believed that the Indians needed to become civilized and convert to Christianity, yet the actions
these two presidents practiced were opposite of what the religion boasts. Obviously, they were the
ones who needed to become civilized and remember where they came from and that what they were
taking away from the Indians is exactly what they had fought for. Whenever Jackson was elected
president, he implemented laws that did away with the tribe as a legal unit and made them subject
to militia duty and state taxes,

Argumentative Essay On Donald Trump
While Liu chooses his ten main ten things to be mostly politics, I will do almost the same. The
most important person in America is always the president, so naturally, I will include Donald
Trump on my list. Secondly, along the lines of politics will be Net Neutrality. I don t have a
strong opinion on it myself, but I do believe it is essential to know the ins and outs of it due to how
important the internet is. The third topic will be pure politics. Hirsh did not include the simple word
of politics, so I will add it myself. The fourth will be Elon Musk, a tech giant. Finally is video
games, which is something dear to my heart, and also ingrained in most of society. This should be
learned by any American or soon to be American due to their importance on America s culture.
Donald Trump, America s current president. He didn t come to power easily. But that is what
makes him so important. Trump s biggest feature was that he was never politically correct, and
still is not to this day. Many people saw this as a good thing to have in a president. He wouldn t
be pushed aside by some foreign country. Trump is also different from the previous president in
that he was a large businessman, he was a billionaire. This means he s probably well versed in
the political side of businesses. However, with this, he also lacks the knowledge of being a
politician. He never held an office anywhere else. He only shares this with five other presidents.
Everyone should know how Trump came to be,

Project Report On Green Water Management
The traditional water resources management mainly refers to the management of the blue water, but
the green water that closely related to food security is ignored (Li Yin 2014). Green water
management was first put forward by the ISRIC World Soil Information etc., which designed to
improve water production efficiency by green water managementmeasures to achieve the purpose of
eliminating the flood and drought disasters (Li Yin 2014). Green water management measures
including stone line, mulching, forest management, contour tillage, bench terraces and etc. (Li Yin

In contrast, water resources planners have often trivialized green water management in rain fed
agriculture (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Green water management often comes in the form of
effective use of rainfall (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Green Water management has great
conservation potential. For example, according to Liu, Zehnder, Yang (209), strengthening
rainfall management could possibly double or even quadruple maize yields in sub Saharan
Africa. Rainwater harvesting is a promising approach for green water management in the
semiarid tropics of Asia and Africa (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Experiments with rainwater
harvesting increased yield by a factor of 2 to 3 in Burkina Faso, Kenya, Niger, Sudan and
Tanzania as compared to the current yield levels (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Additional spending
in many of the rain fed areas allowed more poor people to rise above the poverty line than would
be expected with investments in irrigation infrastructure (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Green water
management is not only limited to infrastructure and management technologies, as biotechnological
advances can also be helpful (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). For example, a hybrid New Rice for
Africa, which was developed to grow in the uplands of West Africa, produces more than 50% more
grain than current varieties when cultivated in traditional

Types of Sports Fans
Professional sports has become one of the most popular industries in the world today. The media
spends billions of dollars on advertisements and teams spend millions of dollars on professional
athletes all for one reason, the fans. The fans ticket sales and merchandise purchases are what keeps
all the sport teams around and prevents professional athletes from losing their jobs. There are three
types of fans in the sports world, average fans, fanatics, and fair weather fans.
Fans that are fanatics are the ones who are diehard and will put their favorite team before almost
all other priorities. Their lives revolve around their favorite team and they will do ... Show more

Usually they will know all or the majority of the people on their team, but will not know every
aspect about them. This type of fan is the most common and will root on and follow their favorite
team, but their life is not completely consumed by it by any means. Other priorities still come
before their sports team and will not let their favorite team consume all of their time.
The last type of fan is a fair weather fan. This is the least liked fan and these fans irritate many
people. Fair weather fans will like one team one year and switch their favorite team the next year
because of recent success by the other team. These people are not truly sports fans, and will just
root for who is popular or whoever their peers like so they can fit in. Fair weather fans root for
teams that they do not follow because of excitement revolving around a team or because there are
some big names on the team that they have actually heard of. These people will like a team, but
will not follow them very closely and may only attend one or two sporting events a year at the most.
Fair weather fans will know the names of the star people on their team, but will not know the
majority of their favorite team. Usually they will not have much merchandise with their favorite
team on it either because they switch teams so much that they do not have tome to accumulate
many goods with their team on them.

Obama Care Disparities In Health Care
Health care reform has been a hot topic for decades now. In 2010, Obama signed into law, the
Affordable Care Act (ACA) or more commonly known as Obamacare. In short, the goal was to
provide more Americans with affordable quality health insurance and decrease the cost of health
care spending. Everyone is guaranteed (required) health insuranceor pay a penalty.
It has provided more Americans with health coverage, no denials for pre existing conditions,
insurance is more affordable for some but higher for others, no time limits on care, more
screenings are covered, and lower perspiration drug costs (Larrat, Marcoux, Vogenberg, 2012). The
negative effects, many have to pay higher premiums and out of pocket expenses than before, taxes
are rising to help offset the cost, longer wait times when seeing a physician, and employers are

The Resurrection Of Jesus Sparknotes
This paper is a review of the book The Resurrection of Jesus: A New Historiographical Approach
by Michael Licona. This book is comprised of pages that investigate the question of the historicity
of Jesus resurrection while providing unprecedented interaction with the literature of professional
historians outside of the community of biblical scholars on both hermeneutical and methodological
considerations. The book is separated into five long chapters: Chapter 1: Important Consideration
pertaining to Historical Truth , Chapter 2: The Historians and Miracles , Chapter 3: Historical
Sources Pertaining to the Resurrection of Christ , Chapter 4: The Historical Bedrock Pertaining to
the Fate of Jesus, and Chapter 5: Weighing Hypothesis . Licona tackles the research of world
historians who interpreted relevant data and draw their own conclusions. Evidence throughout the
book proves Licona s interest in horizons and objectivity. He outlines several strategies for
eliminating bias perspectives and public appeals. It is evident that knowing the past involves many
challenges. Therefore, since the past is forever gone, it can never be viewed directly nor
reconstructed. Chapter 1 deals with a significant considerations pertaining to historical truth. Licona
surveyed several topics on how historians gain the extent of knowledge and the validity of truth.

A Theory Of Ontology And A Position On The Problem Of...
To understanding how we use language to describe the world, we need theories to describe and
explain our reality. The title quote is taken from Willard Van Orman Quine s, On What There Is , in
which he presents a theory of ontology and a position on the problem of universals. The problem of
universals questions the existence of universals. Universals are properties and relations which are
held in common by shared qualities. In comparison, particulars are concrete entities. The debate is
centred around two opposing viewpoints nominalist and realists. Realists believe in universals,
nominalists do not. While realists endorse both universals and particulars, nominalists reject the
notion of universals and only accept the existence of particulars. Consequently, there is
disagreement among philosophers whether universals exist. Discussion of the titled quote follows
an examination of the One Over Many argument which leads to the problem of universals. In this
essay, I show that I agree with the title statement and will argue in favour of a nominalist account of
universals. I will focus primarily on Quine s argument for nominalist semantics. This argument will
be presented by questioning the universalredness and the role of meanings. In examining arguments
made by Armstrong and subsequently presenting a response to these critiques via the analysis of
Devitt, I will also discuss the infinite regress problem and the validity of the One Over Many
argument. My conclusion will be

Titus Andronicus Analysis
Titus Andronicus is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. Titus Andronicus is Shakespeare s
first tragedy. The play is considered by critics and fans alike to be Shakespeare s most distasteful
work that features excessive violence and spectacle. Julie Taymor s film adaption explores the
corruption of violence as she creates many visual parallels to our modern culture of entertaining
violence, paying close attention to the plays relish of spectacle. Both Shakespeare and Taymor treat
the spectacle and excess of the play in their own way which highlights small differences between the
two texts.
A spectacle can be defined as a visually striking performance or display . As Taymor s version is
an adaption, she was able to experiment with the excessive nature of the play and its spectacle.
She opened the film with a cold open showing a young boy playing with toy soldiers, violently
smashing them together and spraying ketchup all over them to create blood. His own fantasy
game becomes a reality when an explosion outside the kitchen window frightens him under a table
from which he is rescued just before it explodes. He is then transported to an area and the audience
cheers, but it feels artificial just like the opening scene of Shakespeare s play. This layering of
spectacle occurs throughout the film, because it has a combination of modern pop culture and
ancient Roman designs to give the impression that the Roman Empire survived into the modern era

Ruhl Pride And Prejudice
Sarah Ruhl s Eurydice presents a modern interpretation and extension of the classic Greek myth of
Orpheus and Eurydice while employing an untraditional and unique structure. There are in turn
several interconnected structural choices that are purposely done and have significant implications
on the play s meaning. For instance, Ruhl meticulously and shrewdly contrasts significant climactic
moments with trivial arguments and discussions. This is done in order to enhance the contrast
between the mythic and mundane elements of the play, allow the characters to avoid emotion, and
establish an untraditional structure that fails to move towards a climactic event. Yet the very fact
that Ruhl makes a conscious decision to avoid a clear climactic scene... Show more content on

African American Literature And Religion
Throughout history it can be easy to see that religion/faith and spirituality have been a big influence
on African American Literature. Religion and faith in African American Literature comes in many
forms depending on the author, but generally, this theme tended to relate to the desire for freedom.
Quite often authors wrote in prayer form, asking for God s assistance to help them make it through
their time of misery, to help them get through life as a slave. Faith in African AmericanLiterature
was vital to the unity of the African American slaves. Spirituality as well, as faith, brought a feeling
of community amongst the separated African American slaves. The African Americans religious
practices were an essential and foundational aspect of the world that the slaves created for
themselves inside the plantation, which was a cruel, cold, and unfair world forced upon the slaves....

during the lineage of the black Americans from the 1800s until now.
Religion and Spirituality was in continues to be such a prominent theme in African American

2 2 Microstrip Patch Antenna Array Fed by Substrate Integrated Waveguide
for Radar Applications
Chandan Baranwal, ME, BIT Mesra
Abstract A 2 2 microstrip patch antenna array fed by a sub strate integrated waveguide (SIW)
feeding network for 24 GHz radar applications is suggested in this paper. The microstrip patches
are aperture coupled with the feeding network comprising of a perpendicular coax to SIW transition
and two Y junction power dividers. The antennadesign is performed in the ANSYS HFSS using
finite element method for EM solutions and the procured results have been verified by
measurement in Lab. At the frequency 24.4 GHz, the prototype has a gain of 9.28 dBi.

In this paper, an AC MPA element fed by an SIW is used as a building block for the design of a
small antenna array. The proposed antenna combines the benefits of microstrip patch antennas with
the advantages of SIW technology. SIW is utilized in order to minimize transmission losses in the
feeding part. In addition, an SIW based feeding network does not radiate any spurious radiation that
could affect the radiation pattern of the antenna array. Therefore, any additional shielding of the
feeding part or the reflector is not required in comparison to the microstrip line feeding technique
for AC MPAs. The antenna array design is carried out for a 24 GHz radar system. The paper
presents the simulated and experimental results of the proposed antenna array.
II.ANTENNA ARRAY CONFIGURATION
The structure of the proposed antenna array is shown in Fig. 1. The antenna consists of 2 2
aperture coupled microstrip patch antennas fed by an SIW based feeding network. The in phase

Nigger. This word is one of the many other things the white man stole from other cultures. Used
as a derogatory, demeaning term. Over the years, we, the African American community, took the
word and turned into a word of endearment, something that we use to speak of or to another black

How To Improve Radiator Maintenance
Radiator Maintenance Keeps Your Car From Overheating And Breaking Down On The Road
Preventative maintenance is the most important thing you can do for your car whether it is
brand new or used. Fixing problems before they turn into malfunctions can save you from being
stranded on the road. It will also save you from expensive repairs. Every system on your car as well
as the tires needs to be cared for to keep them in top shape. The car s cooling system is no
exception because if it becomes worn or damaged, your car can overheat or freeze up. Here are
some things to know about maintaining the radiator in your car. Check The Fluid Level
Regularly You ll want to check the level of coolant in the radiator on a regular basis to make
sure it stays full. The level shouldn t drop, so if it does, you ll want to take your car to the shop
to find the leak and have it repaired. Checking the level of coolant is easy because you can see it
just by looking. There s no need to use a dipstick like when you check the oil. When you take
your car to the shop for regular service checks, the mechanic will also check the level of fluid in
your radiator to guard against potential problems.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can follow the recommendations of the car manufacturer since the guidelines vary
according to the model of the car. However, how you drive your car also affects how often you
need to change the fluid. If you pull a boat or camper, that puts a strain on the cooling system of
your car and may require the fluid to be changed more often. Your mechanic can test the quality of
the fluid to make sure it hasn t degraded and to make sure it is free from contaminants such as
rust. If the fluid is no longer high quality, it should be changed even if it is ahead of the

Peroxydisulfate And Iodide Clock Reaction
Individual Investigation
Title
Aim
To investigate the effects of changing the concentration of the reactants and catalysts in the
peroxydisulfate/iodide clock reaction. The six investigations differ by either changing the
concentration of reactants (potassium peroxydisulfate and potassium iodide), changing the
concentration of catalyst, changing the catalyst used, and by changing the temperature of the
solutions. The clock reaction method was used as a way of measuring the rate of reaction so I
could see how the varying concentrations and temperatures affected the rate of reaction.

The sum of x and y will give the overall reaction order. The orders of reaction are based on the
kinetics of the reactants and so can only be found after the experiments have been completed. The
can be worked out using the initial rate method, in which experiments are repeated using different
concentrations, then the initial rate of the reaction is calculated (using 1/time as shown above). The
initial rate is then plotted against the concentration on a graph, showing the order of the reaction.
There are four known orders of reaction; zero order, first order, second order, and third order.
Zero order reactions have a rate that is not dependent on the concentration of the reactants.
Therefore, this is easily identifiable on an initial rate against concentration graph as it is shown as
a straight, horizontal line (see Figure 1). So, if the concentration of the reactant/s is increased, the
initial rate of reaction will not change, and so the concentration of the reactant is proportional to
the time (Rate = k). If the orders of reaction with respect to each reactant used in the
peroxydisulfate/iodide clock reaction are zero order, they can be written as the

Organizations often say that their employees are their greatest asset. However, this statement is
only accurate if their employees are engaging in their work. Disengaged employees lead to high
attrition, low production, and poor company culture. Employee disengagement in the United States
is at its all time high. According to the most recent Gallup poll, seventy percent of American
workers are disengaged in their workplace (2013). However, this does not mean that our
organization s employees have to reflect this statistic. Based on my recent study, we can improve
employee engagement within this organization if we improve our communication efforts.
Purpose of the study
Good employees are considering to leave our organization due to the deficiency of downward
communication from upper management. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to examine how our
organization s deficiency in communication is effecting employee engagement. Then, determine the
most efficient communication tool to use to improve employee engagement and lower risks in high
attrition and low production. Furthermore, evidence will show that if you invest in town hall
meetings or video conferences, you can align your vision with your employees as you improve
employee engagement.
Methods and procedures used
This report combines academic research with primary research. My academic research investigates
the benefits of conducting town hall meetings or video conferences for a small company. Numerous

Homeless Veterans Thesis
The Detrimental Effects of Drugs on Homeless Veterans
Thesis: The usage of drugs in the homeless veteran community, has contributed to a challenging
recovery from the disadvantage of homelessness; the federal government needs to create more
programs in order to help these veterans. In America today, there are between 2.3 and 3.5 million
people experiencing homelessness, and nearly one quarter of all homeless adults have served in the
armed forces. There are about 200,000 veterans experiencing homelessness on any given night.
Considering that this number is so large, there should be several federal agencies helping, but there
is not. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is the only agency that works to resolve the issue
of homeless veterans.

Constitutional Right to Privacy and the Us Patriot Act...
Privacy Essay
Privacy. What do you think the average American would say if you told them they have no
Constitutional Right to Privacy, as privacy is never mentioned anywhere in the Constitution? That
the information they share over the World Wide Web has little if any protection by or from the
government. Of course our government is hard at work to modernize the form of weeding out the
unsanitary to which some cenacles might call censorship. But the main question still stands, do we
have a right to privacy and is the government violating our natural freedoms, or do we need
someone to monitor the actions of our society to keep order. The question is as old as government;
to what extent should the government influence our lives. When you ... Show more content on

This is a very debatable topic and many parents have different grounds for the extent of their child s
privacy. Some children are monitored by their parents, correcting every mistake and punishing
every misjudgment. Other parents promote more of a free spirit and trust, to teach their child
independence and develop experiences. Two are differing theories of parenting and both are
different theories of government. One assumes that humans are naturally reasonable creatures and
the other that humans are naturally emotionally driven and unreliable. So the question then goes to
nature or nurture, and are humans reasonable or erratic? So we assume that man is a combination
of both good and evil, and in doing so we assume that some level of privacy is in order but also the
government must control those who diverge from the law. The question then

arises, to what degree should citizens be left to themselves and what degree should they be
monitored? The two extrema of this argument include the State of Nature, which has been
previously described, and what is also known as the Big Brother structure. The idea that if man
were molded to be perfect from birth, they would in turn live perfect lives is an idea that has been
philosophized, debated, and dreamed of for generations of intellectuals. In almost every theorized
Utopia, there has been a certain level of censorship. Censorship in these hypothetical societies exists

Analysis Of Roald Dahl s Dahl
I use to love reading Roald Dahl when I was a younger, I was surprised to find out that Roald
Dahl even wrote short stories for adults. Skin was one of those books for the more mature
readers. I would recommend this book for its writing style. The model! cried Drioli. Come on,
Josie! He was in a bustle of enthusiasm now arranging everything, like a child preparing for some
exciting game. Where will you have her? Where shall she stand? The way Roald Dahlwrites allows
you to feel the same enthusiasm that Drioli experiences. Drioli is making the foolish mistake of
getting a tattoo while he is drunk. Roald Dahl has a way of making a simple scenario feel like
much more. I enjoyed witnessing Drioli, who was ironically making the worse... Show more content

The gallery owner was pushing through the crowd towards Drioli. Monsieur, he said, I will buy
it. I said I will buy it. Monsieur. How can you buy it? Drioli asked softly. I will give two hundred
thousand francs for it. Don t do it! someone 135 murmured in the crowd. It is worth twenty times
as much. I found it funny reading the debate and the hassle all the rich people were going
through for Drioli s priceless tattoo. Hence, I have come to conclude that money in today s
world has changed our behaviours and values; from the times when we valued helping and
sharing with people who are more needy than us. Those who have been winning in this world
been playing a sly, dishonest game; taking advantage of people like Drioli. Notwithstandingly, I
believe that these people are not the only one s to be blamed as Drioli tries selling himself for
money; he too wanted a part in this never ending rats race.
At first, I believed WW2 to be a devastating disaster that caused a number of humans to lose their
lives, due to weaponry allowing man to kill each other. Conversely, my opinion changed after
reading this short story. I realised that the loss of life was not the only problem, so was the
destruction of everything else including; properties, businesses, and jobs. The war was horrible, I
believe that the aftermath had an affect on everyone s jobs, livelihood, and the living conditions
degraded. Drioli was one such ordinary man,

Hate In Romeo And Juliet
Condemned by their households hate Who is responsible when you pay for mistakes and
problems you did not even make or create? Aren t the authors of that mistake or problem
responsible? Being enemies, the families of Romeo and Juliet were responsible for the deaths of
their children. Words spoken by the families servants proved the hatred between these two
families. Uncle, this is a Montague, our foe , Tybalt replied to lord Capulet. (I.v.71) His name is

The Flea By John Donne
Marriage is a social construct that technically has no meaning other than what the person engaging
in marriage puts to it. Yet, the idea of marriage is a concept that copious amounts of people hold
dear. It wormed its way into the importance of society early, and even dictates the movement in a
relationship, most notably that of intimacy. In John Donne s poem The Flea, extended metaphor is
used to explain that the act of intimacy does not matter whether it is performed before or after
marriage. Also, explicit imagery is noticeable through the poem and outlines the underlying taboo
topic being discussed. Another important detail, the flea within the poem is not only used as a
comparison in the extended metaphor, but also as a symbol of innocence. In The Flea, Donne
plainly spites the acceptance of traditional values by using extended metaphor, gross imagery, and
symbolism.
The Flea is commonly interpreted as indecent, and there is a reason behind the plain and indecent
language in the poem. The poem s central theme lies around the subject of premarital sex. It
challenges the traditional view that couples should only consummate after marriage. The
challenge is inadequately hidden on purpose through the tawdry situation that is a young man
trying to lie with a young lady. That being said, premarital sex is not a big deal in today s times, but
it was an extremely scandalous topic in the 1600s. If the readers in 1600s are considered, it d be an
audience of remarkably

Under the construction it involves the issue that revenue should be recognised continuously. Some
of the contracts are fixed price based contracts but they will not remain fixed as the contract extends
over a long period of time that s when the contract may include escalation clauses. At the stage of
completion that is determined by the reference of the contract costs incurred to date ,the cost will
reflect on the work performed that is in the costs incurred to date .Contract costs which are excluded
may involve the contract costs that applies to the future activities that is on the contract, this
includes the costs of the materials that have been brought to a contract site but not yet used during
the contract performance .Also the payments made to subcontractors in advance of work performed
under the subcontract.
Most of the businesses can recognise their revenue in a financial year but businesses like
construction are a long term thing and accounting books are done yearly. The accounting of long
term contracts have some complications and the IRS requires the contractors to have a way they
work out their contract and have to reach for an agreement. Normally a contract is a long term and
if not completed in the same tax year it is started, not considering the time that is needed to
complete the job, therefore a specific accounting method has to be used in the first year of the
contract start. There are two common

Analysis Of Satchmo Blows Up The World
ixty years ago, Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, became a flashpoint in the nascent
civil rights movement when Governor Orval Faubus refused to abide by the Supreme Court
decision in Brown v. Board of Education. Faubus famously deployed the state s National Guard to
prevent nine African American students from attending classes at the high school. In the midst of
the crisis, a high school journalist interviewing Louis Armstrong about an upcoming tour asked the
musician about his thoughts on the situation, prompting Armstrong to refer to the Arkansas
governor as several varieties of motherfucker. (In the interest of finding a printable quote, his label
for Faubus was changed to ignorant plowboy. ) Armstrong, who was scheduled... Show more

Kaepernick began his silent, kneeling protest at the beginning of last season, not as an assault
against the United States military or the flag but as a dissent against a system that has, with a great
degree of consistency, failed to hold accountable police who kill unarmed citizens. Since he did
this, forty one unarmed individuals have been fatally shot by police in the United States, twelve
of them African American, according to a database maintained by the Washington Post. The city
of St. Louis recently witnessed three days of protests after the acquittal of Jason Stockley, the
former officer who, while still working for the city s police force, fatally shot Anthony Smith, an
eighteen year old African American motorist who had led officers on a chase. Stockley emerged
from his vehicle, having declared that he would kill the motherfucker, then proceeded to fire five
rounds into the car. Later, a firearm was found on the seat of Smith s car, but the weapon bore only
Stockley s DNA. The issue is not imaginary.
Yet the belief endures, from Armstrong s time and before, that visible, affluent African American
entertainers are obliged to adopt a pose of ceaseless gratitude appreciation for the waiver that
spared them the low status of so many others of their kind. Stevie Wonder began a performance in
Central Park last night by taking a knee, prompting Congressman Joe Walsh to tweet that Wonder
was another ungrateful black multi millionaire. Ungrateful is

Summary Of Randle Mcmurphy
Randle McMurphy is moved from a prison to a mental institute and thinks that the rules will be
less strict in the mental institute than it was in the prison. He finds out that it is not what he
thought as the nurse of the psychiatric ward, Nurse Ratched, is very strict and keeps the patients
in order by abusing them, medicating them, and electrocuting them. McMurphy does not like the
way Nurse Ratched runs the psychiatric ward and all throughout the time that he is there, he
rebels against her commands. McMurphy s rebellious actions cause many conflicts in the ward
and harm on the other patients and himself. One particular night, McMurphy sneaks two women
into the psychiatric ward and they throw a party that goes on all throughout the night. This
party causes a lot of damage not only to the building itself, but to the workers and patients at the
ward. The night watchman of the ward, Mr. Turkle gets in trouble for allowing the women to
come into the ward. That night, Billy sleeps with Candy, one of the women that snuck into the
ward. The next day when Nurse Ratched came into work, she had seen and heard of what Billy
had done and threatened to tell his mother. The workers at the ward then locked Billy into a
room and while he in there, Billy killed himself. In addition to these effects of the party,
McMurphy was punished by getting electrocuted to the point where he could no longer function.
McMurphy s friend, Chief, sees that he can no longer function and does not want him to suffer
so he puts a pillow over his head and suffocates him to death. The movie ends with Chief escaping
the psychiatric ward and finally being able to be free. Throughout the movie, One Flew Over the
Cuckoo s Nest, there are many sociological terms that apply to the things that take place in the
movie. Firstly, mores, which are norms that are strictly enforced because they are thought essential
to the core values or the well being of the group, are demonstrated throughout the movie (Henslin,
2014, p. 60). Nurse Ratched is very strict and enforces mores, such as patients following the
schedule and taking their medications. She enforces these mores because she believes they will
help with the well being of the patients. In addition to

An Important Skill For First And Second Language Learners
1.INTRODUCTION
Reading is an important skill for first and second language learners. Failing to learn to read and
write in the early years results in poor self esteem for learners than any other cause (Casey, 2001).
Computer technology proved to have many advantages for students with learning difficulties,
including motivational aspects and development of fine motor skills (Casey, 2001).
A review of the reading research in L1 and L2 on the effect of a variety of technologies on students
achievement has shown two contradictory findings. The fist line of research found that use of
technology had no significant effect on students reading skill development. Computer assisted
instruction had no effect on the reading achievement of 3rd 6th grade students in a low socio
economic status community. No significant differences were also found between boys and girls
reading achievement (Hamilton, 1995). In another study, Martindale, Pearson, Curda Pilcher (2005)
found that 5th grade students who used computer based and web based software applications
(FCAT Explorer) scored significantly higher on the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment
Test) than elementary school students who did not use the FCAT Explorer. At the high schoollevel,
no significant differences in scores were found between students who used the FCAT Explorer and
those who did not use it. In a third study, Humble (2000) found that when 2nd grade students used

Rhetorical Devices In E. B. White s Coon Tree

he thinks that technology is taking over the american household. The analyzation of this essay
shows an informative style, which White merged using literary and rhetorical devices, such as

White comes back to his essay six years later to give us an update on how things have changed.
There are thoughts here about progress, and technology, all as that raccoon climbs up and down
the tree outside the window. Over the years, the raccoon has encountered some challenges,
weather and other mother raccoons, and the hole in the tree starts to get larger, disintegrating,
losing its integrity. Soon it will not be a proper raccoon nest anymore. But that will be the
raccoons problem to deal with. In the meantime, White and his wife are making improvements to
make sure that their home stays inhabitable, unlike the raccoon. As a result of the numerous
advancements in technology, White is practically forced to update his kitchen. Ultimately, as time
moves by, you must move along with it. He misses how simple his kitchen used to be and as a
result he makes the remark, Incidentally, I was pleased to learn, not long ago, that children in
unsanitary homes acquire a better resistance to certain diseases than children in homes where
sanitation is king. Whether or not our old drainboard was a guardian of out health I will never
know; but neither my wife nor I have enjoyed as good health since the back kitchen got renovated.

The most sought after reason for the envy was because of the jobs they were offered. If they were able to read and write, they were in huge demand at one of the trading companies. Some would follow in their fathers footsteps and become trappers and traders, a few Metis would even become chiefs of Indian tribes , because of their knowledge of the white man. The circumstances that existed at this time encouraged the Metis people to begin to formulate their own identity. In the early parts of the 17th century, France created the Voyageur system . Voyageurs were labourers who would transport trade goods between First Nations peoples and the French trading posts . They functioned under very strict French and Church law. Eventually, several European and Metis individuals and groups began to trade without the French state s approval. These traders were called couriers de bois and were vilified by both France and the Church . Since the couriers de bois acted as free agents, France, and later England, could not profit from transactions made by the couriers. To counteract the loss in potential revenue, strict measures were created to prevent the couriers de bois from doing any business. These strict measures were called the conge system, this was a licensing system where by not more than seventy five traders would go to the west each year . Many traders were arrested, and often, were saved only because of strong ties ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

History is what brings us to where we are today. Throughout time, I believe that every leader, politician, and good citizen strived to crate a better place to live. If this is true than the strides that Michigan has made to become the best it can be are due to the love and devotion that michiganders have to their sate and their country. • 7. A Doll s House By Henrik Ibsen A good book is a book that touches a reader s heart by either being relatable or with great character development. Cheris Karmarae, a woman s rights activist, stated, Feminism is the radical notion that women are human beings. This statement is relevant to A Doll s House and is relatable to the female audience. Not only does A Doll s House incorporate relevant matters, it includes great characterdevelopment in the protagonist, Nora. Her display of bravery moved many readers. Unlike A Doll s House, Frankenstein, which is quite fictitious, may appear to not be relatable. From the summer readings assigned for Sophomore World Literature, A Doll s House, a play written by Henrik Ibsencaptures the reader s heart while the novel, Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley was unappealing and uninteresting. Ibsen sets his play, A Doll s House, in an era that captures the female audience as he shows the hardships of women that are relatable and brilliantly uses those obstacles for character development while Frankenstein loses interest as it is lengthy due to its tone and revels on details that are not relevant to the plot. A Doll s House is set in the late 1800 s when women s rights and roles in society was a controversial topic. Ibsen displays Nora as an ordinary mother and wife going through every day life but incorporates obstacles relevant to the time to show how they affect women. Women were often stay home mothers who catered to their children s and husband s needs. HELMER. First ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of the few employees who were able to define what biblical principles signified to them, a common theme appeared. More than one employee referred to the biblical passage Mathew 7:12 the Golden Rule, roughly translated into do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Other illustrations were doing the right thing and having faith in the people around you . Basic Assumptions The third and deepest level of organizational culture posited by Edgar Schein is basic assumptions. Basic or underlying assumptions are the unconscious and intangible mechanisms that become ingrained and provide a sense of security. As the years went on Ali went on winning but the years were passing and that was having some affect on him. In 1970 Muhammad fought against Jerry Quarry and even though Ali did win the fight it was noticeable that he was moving slower than he did in the late 1960 s. He began taking more punches instead of dodging and dancing from them like he used to do, but he was also stronger this time around. Out to recapture the title of Heavyweight Champion, Ali jumped back into training camp to train. The bout was one of three legendary fights between Ali and Frazier. Since the title was taken from him and was not lost in the ring many people felt Ali was still rightfully the Heavyweight Champion. Ali openly ridiculed Frazier showing lack of fear for his opponent. Despite all of Ali s negative remarks, Frazier was a tough opponent. The actual fight was even in the early rounds, but Ali was absorbing more punishment than he ever did before. In the fifteenth round the unthinkable happened: Frazier hit Ali on the jaw with a bone crushing left hook and that knocked him to the canvas. Ali did bounce back up as fast as he went down, but when the fight ended, it was clear that Frazier was the winner. It was Ali s first professional loss but he was not ready to ... The Period of Enlightened Absolutism in Europe The period of enlightened absolutism across all of Europe revealed a significant change in the processes and objectives of rulers during this time period. The great philosopher, Machiavelli, approached the reason that a ruler should present two qualities in order to drive a successful community. A ruler needed to behave both like a lion and like a fox he believed. These two traits can be seen clearly in two foremost rulers during this time period. Catherine the Great of Russia and Elizabeth I of Englandhad clearly fulfilled the suggestion made by Machiavelli. These two iconic rulers met the proposition made by Machiavelli by enforcing both aggressive, but yet clever procedures against other countries and the poor in order to create a better country for themselves. Catherine the Great had a very strong powerful army that she used to her advantage to expand her empire while Elizabeth I avoided the wars and went behind the back to attack Spanish armadas. Sir Francis Drake was an English Sea Captain who had undertaken a major voyage against Spanish ports and ships to the Caribbean in 1585 and 1586, and in 1587 had made a successful raid on Cadiz, destroying the Spanish fleet of war ships. It is seen here that Elizabeth I avoided the war and hired Francis Drake to take over. Furious with this, Philip II had decided to take the war to England. Liberalism recognised the rule of law, individual rights and legislative law over executive power. Materialism was when physical comfort and lots of possessions were more important than spiritual values. In 1864, Pope Pius IX wrote the Syllabus of Errors for the laity. This condemned about 80 different reforms which were occurring in Europe, including the three already mentioned. The church followed this document until the second Vatican Council. It took about four years of secret planning with Bishops and Cardinals before the Council assembled in 1869. For the first time, Bishops from countries outside Europe joined European Bishops at Vatican I. The main purpose of Vatican I was to define the Catholic doctrine, establish the Church beliefs and Papal infallibility, and denounce new ideas of the time such as rationalism, liberalism and materialism. Pope Pius IX called for an Ecumenical Council to implement papal authority and make clear Catholic beliefs which had come under attack by Enlightenment thinkers, for example, the first Vatican Council (Vatican I) began in 1869 at Saint Peter s Basilica and was attended by almost seven hundred bishops and other church leaders. At Vatican I, the bishops officially proclaimed Papal infallibility, and raised the question of the authority of the bishops. Interruption by Italian troops meant that the authority of the bishops was not finalised until Vatican II in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A rain that came in harder than most hurricanes that have hit Louisiana. This down poor stayed in the same place for several days and did not stop. Social media had a huge effect on how this tragedy played out. Where help was being sent, who was okay and who was not okay. People resorted to using their phones to check on people and letting people know where help was needed with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, local news stations, and the radio. After everything slowed down and recovery started, everyone stuck together as a community. People posted GoFundMe pages on Facebook, started groups to start going out to neighborhoods to help work on houses also on Facebook, fundraiser concerts were promoted on Instagram. The local news stations showed where to go and what forms to fill out if they needed help with getting started on their homes. It was the second day of my senior year when I was woken up by rumbling thunder. My two younger sisters and I all got in my small convertible mustang and started to drive to school. I could not see through the window because my windshield wipers were not going fast enough to keep up with the rainfall. The country roads were flooded the second I started driving. A smell best described as a mix of dirty carpet and metal; the majority of my free time in middle/ high school was spent within the realm. Now 18, and out of high school, I set out to help Doug with his band s halftime show, due to his shortage of staff, a task which seemed very easy at the time. Following the first day, however, I abruptly found out how difficult the task was and the degree of perseverance needed to be a successful tech. Dougis my cousin s fiance and the band teacher at a private catholic school. Slender in build, polite and talented, we hadn t spent much time together prior to the upcoming week. But based off of past encounters, I sensed the two of us would easily get along. Before the first day began, Doug had given me a folder containing the show music. The brown cardboard folder, held about twenty pages of show music, with the titles: Jurassic Park Fantasy , Indiana Jones , and Stars Wars/E.T , a playlist meant to honor the famous composer: John Williams. But for the week, Doug noted, we would mainly focus on Jurassic Park. And as I scanned through the pages, it definitely seemed reachable. The rhythms had been simplified to accommodate a high schoollevel and the note ranges also seemed easier. Now sitting in Doug s office, awaiting the arrival of the children, I asked Doug, What s the plan for today? More importantly... when s lunch? . With a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Teen Pregnancy And Teenage Pregnancy Teen pregnancy is something that affects over one million young teens in the United States. For some, these pregnancies are planned but 85% of these teens the pregnancy is unplanned. This can cause a lot of endless problems in the life of the teen and the newborn child. There are a lot of things that can cause an unplanned teen pregnancy, such as teens experimenting with sexual encounters at a young age. Another major cause is the lack of guidance due to guardians that are blind or do not want to believe in such activities. These causes can have devastating effects on the teen and the newborn in the household. Some effects of early pregnancy will include an unexpected rise of responsibility for the teen and can cause many health concerns for both teen and newborn child. Teens experimenting are the leading cause in the unplanned pregnancies. As a teenager in high school ages there are a lot of peer pressures. Such as experimenting with alcohol and unprotected sexual intercourse. Drinking and the use of narcotics also largely have an impact on the judgment of the teen before the pre pregnancy comes about. Experimenting can cause many effects on the teen and the relationships at hand, including the relationships with the baby s mom or dad and also the parents of the teens. Another way of experimenting is the pregnancy caused in the sequel of either a long time dating of the boyfriend or the other case of those random one night stands or hook ups. • 20. The Criminal Justice System Is Fair And True Most people in America believe that our criminal justice system is fair and true. The idea that any free citizen could be unjustly sentenced to prison or executed by the state is thought of as false. Unfortunately now a days the judicial process has been infiltrated with false confessions, eyewitness misidentification, improper forensic science, perjury, ineffective defense counsels, messy police investigations and prosecutorial misconduct. Our criminal justicesystem is based on the concept that every wrong has a cause and effect, thus forcing us to punish any and all offenders, but with all the faults in our system how do we know who s guilty of committing the crime? Most of the time this is when wrongful convictions occurs. A simple definition of wrongful conviction is when innocent defendants are found guilty in criminal trials. Frequently these innocent defendants are forced to go as far as to plead guilty to avoid death penalties or long prisonsentences. The Number of wrongly convicted persons cannot be known with certainty, because no federal or state agency keeps track of exonerations, let alone wrongful convictions. Many news stories, reports and books fairly describe wrongful convictions in detail, although not all of these wrongful convictions resulted in formal exonerations. In some of these cases, prosecutors insisted that the original verdict was accurate despite strong new evidence of factual innocence, further clouding an understanding of wrongful ... • 21. Christopher Columbus, Andrew Jackson, And President Van Buren This war began when the White man crossed the Atlantic Ocean in search of independence. They left Europe and slowly began fighting for a better life which eventually led to their break away from the harsh brutalities of the British government. When, in all reality, their search for independence led to the abolishment of the freedom of the Native Americans. Instead of placing light onto this subject, it is swept under the rug in schools across America today. I believe that the way the American government chose to gain territory was selfish and ignorant and led to the loss of many cultures and precious lives. Some of the ways this happened was by the removal of rights, battles, untruthful treaties, and confiscation of land. In many ways American history books and movies portray Christopher Columbus, Andrew Jackson, and President Van Buren to be American heroes, but these so called heroes are actually murderers, thieves, and liars. Jackson and Van Buren believed that the Indians needed to become civilized and convert to Christianity, yet the actions these two presidents practiced were opposite of what the religion boasts. Obviously, they were the ones who needed to become civilized and remember where they came from and that what they were taking away from the Indians is exactly what they had fought for. Whenever Jackson was elected president, he implemented laws that did away with the tribe as a legal unit and made them subject to militia duty and state taxes, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I don t have a strong opinion on it myself, but I do believe it is essential to know the ins and outs of it due to how important the internet is. The third topic will be pure politics. Hirsh did not include the simple word of politics, so I will add it myself. The fourth will be Elon Musk, a tech giant. This should be learned by any American or soon to be American due to their importance on America s culture. Donald Trump, America s current president. He didn t come to power easily. But that is what makes him so important. Trump s biggest feature was that he was never politically correct, and still is not to this day. Many people saw this as a good thing to have in a president. He wouldn t be pushed aside by some foreign country. Trump is also different from the previous president in that he was a large businessman, he was a billionaire. Green water management often comes in the form of effective use of rainfall (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Green Water management has great conservation potential. For example, according to Liu, Zehnder, Yang (209), strengthening rainfall management could possibly double or even quadruple maize yields in sub Saharan Africa. Rainwater harvesting is a promising approach for green water management in the semiarid tropics of Asia and Africa (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Experiments with rainwater harvesting increased yield by a factor of 2 to 3 in Burkina Faso, Kenya, Niger, Sudan and Tanzania as compared to the current yield levels (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Additional spending in many of the rain fed areas allowed more poor people to rise above the poverty line than would be expected with investments in irrigation infrastructure (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). Green water management is not only limited to infrastructure and management technologies, as biotechnological advances can also be helpful (Liu, Zehnder, Yang 2009). • 32. A Theory Of Ontology And A Position On The Problem Of... To understanding how we use language to describe the world, we need theories to describe and explain our reality. The title quote is taken from Willard Van Orman Quine s, On What There Is , in which he presents a theory of ontology and a position on the problem of universals. The problem of universals questions the existence of universals. Universals are properties and relations which are held in common by shared qualities. In comparison, particulars are concrete entities. The debate is centred around two opposing viewpoints nominalist and realists. Realists believe in universals, nominalists do not. While realists endorse both universals and particulars, nominalists reject the notion of universals and only accept the existence of particulars. Consequently, there is disagreement among philosophers whether universals exist. Discussion of the titled quote follows an examination of the One Over Many argument which leads to the problem of universals. In this essay, I show that I agree with the title statement and will argue in favour of a nominalist account of universals. I will focus primarily on Quine s argument for nominalist semantics. This argument will be presented by questioning the universalredness and the role of meanings. In examining arguments made by Armstrong and subsequently presenting a response to these critiques via the analysis of Devitt, I will also discuss the infinite regress problem and the validity of the One Over Many argument. The play is considered by critics and fans alike to be Shakespeare s most distasteful work that features excessive violence and spectacle. Julie Taymor s film adaption explores the corruption of violence as she creates many visual parallels to our modern culture of entertaining violence, paying close attention to the plays relish of spectacle. Both Shakespeare and Taymor treat the spectacle and excess of the play in their own way which highlights small differences between the two texts. A spectacle can be defined as a visually striking performance or display . As Taymor s version is an adaption, she was able to experiment with the excessive nature of the play and its spectacle. She opened the film with a cold open showing a young boy playing with toy soldiers, violently smashing them together and spraying ketchup all over them to create blood. His own fantasy game becomes a reality when an explosion outside the kitchen window frightens him under a table from which he is rescued just before it explodes. He is then transported to an area and the audience cheers, but it feels artificial just like the opening scene of Shakespeare s play. For instance, Ruhl meticulously and shrewdly contrasts significant climactic moments with trivial arguments and discussions. Essay On Patch Antenna 2 2 Microstrip Patch Antenna Array Fed by Substrate Integrated Waveguide for Radar Applications Chandan Baranwal, ME, BIT Mesra Abstract A 2 2 microstrip patch antenna array fed by a sub strate integrated waveguide (SIW) feeding network for 24 GHz radar applications is suggested in this paper. The microstrip patches are aperture coupled with the feeding network comprising of a perpendicular coax to SIW transition and two Y junction power dividers. The antennadesign is performed in the ANSYS HFSS using finite element method for EM solutions and the procured results have been verified by measurement in Lab. At the frequency 24.4 GHz, the prototype has a gain of 9.28 dBi. Index Terms Antenna array, microstrip patch, power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this paper, an AC MPA element fed by an SIW is used as a building block for the design of a small antenna array. The proposed antenna combines the benefits of microstrip patch antennas with the advantages of SIW technology. SIW is utilized in order to minimize transmission losses in the feeding part. In addition, an SIW based feeding network does not radiate any spurious radiation that could affect the radiation pattern of the antenna array. Therefore, any additional shielding of the feeding part or the reflector is not required in comparison to the microstrip line feeding technique for AC MPAs. The antenna array design is carried out for a 24 GHz radar system. The paper presents the simulated and experimental results of the proposed antenna array. II.ANTENNA ARRAY CONFIGURATION The structure of the proposed antenna array is shown in Fig. 1. The antenna consists of 2 2 aperture coupled microstrip patch antennas fed by an SIW based feeding network. The in phase uniform feeding for the array consists of three SIW based power dividers. The antenna array is fed by a coaxial connector. The configuration of a single AC MPA element used for the antenna array design is shown in Fig. 2. • 37. Nigger Definition Essay What word makes you cringe but you use daily? A word with arguably the most negative connotation, but is used frequently by only one race. The word that comes to mind for me is Nigger. This word is one of the many other things the white man stole from other cultures. Used as a derogatory, demeaning term. Over the years, we, the African American community, took the word and turned into a word of endearment, something that we use to speak of or to another black man/woman. Growing up, I lived in two of the most diverse cities in America. Queens, New York and Houston, Texas, so I personally have never experienced racism in my life, until my family and I stopped at Vider, Texas for gas. As a young child, my older cousins would say the word nigger or niggaas frequently as the word bro or dude. It is a way to refer to your fellow African American. Every time the word was used, it was greeted with a smile and a nod signifying love and respect. I wasn t aware that the word was once used to demine blacks. We walked into to a gas station, and... He said the word nigger comes from his home land of Ethiopia. He told me the word was Negus , but the white man took it and distorted it. I asked him if it just meant black like negro and negre do. He told me no. The meaning of Negus is king, emperor, or ruler. They stole the word and turned it from a word of respect to a word of hate. How To Improve Radiator Maintenance Radiator Maintenance Keeps Your Car From Overheating And Breaking Down On The Road Preventative maintenance is the most important thing you can do for your car whether it is brand new or used. Fixing problems before they turn into malfunctions can save you from being stranded on the road. It will also save you from expensive repairs. Every system on your car as well as the tires needs to be cared for to keep them in top shape. The car s cooling system is no exception because if it becomes worn or damaged, your car can overheat or freeze up. Here are some things to know about maintaining the radiator in your car. Check The Fluid Level Regularly You ll want to check the level of coolant in the radiator on a regular basis to make sure it stays full. The level shouldn t drop, so if it does, you ll want to take your car to the shop to find the leak and have it repaired. Checking the level of coolant is easy because you can see it just by looking. There s no need to use a dipstick like when you check the oil. When you take your car to the shop for regular service checks, the mechanic will also check the level of fluid in your radiator to guard against potential problems.... Peroxydisulfate And Iodide Clock Reaction Individual Investigation Title Aim To investigate the effects of changing the concentration of the reactants and catalysts in the peroxydisulfate/iodide clock reaction. The six investigations differ by either changing the concentration of reactants (potassium peroxydisulfate and potassium iodide), changing the concentration of catalyst, changing the catalyst used, and by changing the temperature of the solutions. The clock reaction method was used as a way of measuring the rate of reaction so I could see how the varying concentrations and temperatures affected the rate of reaction. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sum of x and y will give the overall reaction order. The orders of reaction are based on the kinetics of the reactants and so can only be found after the experiments have been completed. The can be worked out using the initial rate method, in which experiments are repeated using different concentrations, then the initial rate of the reaction is calculated (using 1/time as shown above). The initial rate is then plotted against the concentration on a graph, showing the order of the reaction. There are four known orders of reaction; zero order, first order, second order, and third order. Zero order reactions have a rate that is not dependent on the concentration of the reactants. Therefore, this is easily identifiable on an initial rate against concentration graph as it is shown as a straight, horizontal line (see Figure 1). So, if the concentration of the reactant/s is increased, the initial rate of reaction will not change, and so the concentration of the reactant is proportional to the time (Rate = k). What do you think the average American would say if you told them they have no Constitutional Right to Privacy, as privacy is never mentioned anywhere in the Constitution? That the information they share over the World Wide Web has little if any protection by or from the government. Of course our government is hard at work to modernize the form of weeding out the unsanitary to which some cenacles might call censorship. This is a very debatable topic and many parents have different grounds for the extent of their child s privacy. Some children are monitored by their parents, correcting every mistake and punishing every misjudgment. Other parents promote more of a free spirit and trust, to teach their child independence and develop experiences. Two are differing theories of parenting and both are different theories of government. One assumes that humans are naturally reasonable creatures and the other that humans are naturally emotionally driven and unreliable. So the question then goes to nature or nurture, and are humans reasonable or erratic? So we assume that man is a combination of both good and evil, and in doing so we assume that some level of privacy is in order but also the government must control those who diverge from the law. The question then Domich 4 arises, to what degree should citizens be left to themselves and what degree should they be monitored? • 46. The Flea By John Donne Marriage is a social construct that technically has no meaning other than what the person engaging in marriage puts to it. Yet, the idea of marriage is a concept that copious amounts of people hold dear. It wormed its way into the importance of society early, and even dictates the movement in a relationship, most notably that of intimacy. In John Donne s poem The Flea, extended metaphor is used to explain that the act of intimacy does not matter whether it is performed before or after marriage. Also, explicit imagery is noticeable through the poem and outlines the underlying taboo topic being discussed. Another important detail, the flea within the poem is not only used as a comparison in the extended metaphor, but also as a symbol of innocence. In The Flea, Donne plainly spites the acceptance of traditional values by using extended metaphor, gross imagery, and symbolism. The Flea is commonly interpreted as indecent, and there is a reason behind the plain and indecent language in the poem. The poem s central theme lies around the subject of premarital sex. It challenges the traditional view that couples should only consummate after marriage. The challenge is inadequately hidden on purpose through the tawdry situation that is a young man trying to lie with a young lady. That being said, premarital sex is not a big deal in today s times, but it was an extremely scandalous topic in the 1600s. Computer technology proved to have many advantages for students with learning difficulties, including motivational aspects and development of fine motor skills (Casey, 2001). A review of the reading research in L1 and L2 on the effect of a variety of technologies on students achievement has shown two contradictory findings. The fist line of research found that use of technology had no significant effect on students reading skill development.
