State Of The Essay
State of the Essay
The thing about these essays is that the problems I encounter with them are twofold. It s like that
scene in Jurassic Park where they realize that they have all the problems of a major zoo and a major
amusement park. First, I have to worry about the time managment piece. When students wait until the
last minute to do the work it s generally not very good or it s incomplete or both...probably both. That
is a self discipline issue that is completely removed from what I m actually trained to teach my
students. My hands are tied when I m confronted with this.
The second problem is the problem that I actually enjoy dealing with; writing. This problem is
multifaceted and fascinating. Working together at the task of becoming better writers is actually fun. I
ve seen it become fun for other people. It s not just me. As I stated, the writing problem is multi
faceted but those facets generally reside in one of three categories: content, form, and technicality. The
content of a 110 student s paper includes the personal narrative, the universal, and the academic. I ve
tried to explain the prompt a dozen different ways , but the one that has the best track record is this
one: Think of a moment where you had an epiphany about life and what it meant to live it...what it
meant to be you and why it meant that...something you learned about yourself that may benefit others
in the telling. It sounds pretty good, but it s still inadequate. It still elicits

Final essay Trumps new world order Krysteena Rodriguez Western Connecticut State University
History 149 American history May 12, 2017 With last year being the first election that I could vote in,
I took particular interest in keeping up with politics as much as I could. It was truly sad to see Obama
leave office, being that he was a symbol of hope for so many, regardless of the critiques on how well
he did his job. When our current president, something that is still hard for me to face the reality of,
Donald Trump, announced his campaign I thought he had no chance. I did not see it possible for a man
with no political background, who is only known for being a wealthy businessman along with reality

It would be beneficial for the president to meet with the founders of the movement, to discuss what
they are advocating for and how the president can intervene. Let s look back at the early 1900s. Our
countries history of slavery is no secret. Although slavery was abolished decades prior, the mindsets of
those who lived during those times were stagnant. While they were freed from slavery, for long after,
African Americans were not privileged with the same freedom of white Americans. It is common
when racism is discussed that people mention when slavery was abolished however limitations were
still put on ex slaves that limited their possibility of growing and achieving more. Foner stated, Nor
could blacks, the majority desperately poor, participate fully in the emerging consumer economy,
either as employees in the new department stores (except as janitors and cleaning women) or as
purchasers of the consumer goods now flooding the marketplace. It is important that the struggles
faced even after abolition be recognized. When blacks did not abide by Jim Crow laws created to keep
black and whites divided they were met with violence. Foner mentioned a riot that resulted in the
death of 39 people, leaving 500 others injured that took place due to a black male accidently
overstepping a line that divided beaches between

Fourteen Points by Woodrow Wilson Essay
World War I was a period when countries faced economic, political, social, and cultural problems,
which threatened the survival of democracy and freedom and needed a fast and effective resolution
which was presented to the world by Woodrow Wilson called the Fourteen Points. The Fourteen
Points offered the world a democratic resolute, that was effective, reliable and a basis for long lasting
peace, unlike the Treaty of Versailles which was a non democratic approach to the problem since it
contained a war guilt clause which forced Germany to admit sole responsibility for starting World War
I, although other European nations had been guilty of provoking diplomatic crises before the war, also
the treaty excluded Russia which was a major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last way that the 14 Points would make the world safe for democracy was the 14th point which
stated that a League of Nations was to be formed where all the countries of the world would have a
say in political decisions like territorial boundaries of big and small states alike, and would try to keep
world peace.
The first way that the Fourteen Points were to make the world a safe place for democracy was that
they would give the nations and people of Europe a say in the boundaries of their countries and would
allow the creation of new nations like Serbia and Montenegro, Romania, and Poland, the points would
also allow lost territory to be given back to the countries who lost it. By doing this the Fourteen points
would have set up a base for democracy to expand because the new nations would then willingly
accept democracy and would expand it even further. An example of this is the Vietnamese people who
after the introduction of democracy were beginning to demand the same political rights enjoyed by
people in Western Nations. The problem that the Fourteen Points were facing was the European
leaders of England, France, and Italy who didn t want to have a peaceful resolution, but wanted to
make the

Collective Identity Within The Gay Community And Women s...
Collective Identity within the Gay Community and Women s Liberation Movement
The gay community and women s liberation movement were both formed through collective identities
and political/oppositional consciousness. Moreover, both groups were discriminated against by
external social structures and yet, succeeded due to internal factors. Whittier and Taylor describe
collective identity as the shared definition of a group that derives from member s common interests,
experiences, and solidarity (Whittier 105). The gay community was being oppressed for their sexuality
while women were being suppressed based on their gender. Although both communities formed
collective identities, they experienced numerous obstacles in unifying their movements, the most
notable being race and ethnicity. Since both groups were being discriminated against due to factors out
of their control, they formed collective identities and created communities, which propelled their
movements forward.
The shift from agricultural economy to capitalism changed family dynamics, and was directly linked
to the appearance of a collective gay life (D emilio 102). In an agricultural society, families used to
work together to produce food, clothing and other goods (D emilio 103). There was, quite simply no
social space in colonial systems of production that allowed men and women to be gay (D emilio 104).
In essence, survival was structured around a nuclear family until the emergence of the free labor

Same Sex Couples Adoption Rights
Building Families
A child is known to have a mom and a dad; growing up with knowing mom is a woman and dad is a
male, but realizing a child can be adopted by a same sex couple. A child can have two dads or two
moms and would still grow up normal just any other kid in the world. Adoption laws vary state by
state, some other states do not allowed homosexual couples such as Florida. Actually USA TODAY
explains thirteen states Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri,
Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee and Texas prohibited same sex marriage
before the Supreme Court decision. Even though the LGBT community has been represented in

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics illustrated children with gay parents and children
with heterosexual parents show no differences in gender identity or gender role behaviors. A research
carried out by Cambridge University consisted of finding differences and similarities between same
sex couples and heterosexual of adoptive families. Researchers discovered The differences that did
emerge relate to levels of depressive symptoms in parents, which are especially low for gay fathers,
and the contrasting pathways to adoption which was second choice for many of the heterosexual and
some lesbian parents but first choice for all but one of the gay parents. Not only does adoption rights
for same sex couples help create families but also Gay adoption increases the pool of couples who are
able to adopt, which can move more children out of the child welfare system into a stable family. This
is a pro not only for the child, but it also reduces the financial burden to taxpayers. (Child warfare
System). Another Research study was taken in Australia, Dr. Simon Crouch notes that in same sex
couple parents have to take on roles that are suited to their skill sets rather than falling into those
gender stereotypes. This leads to a more harmonious family unit and therefore feeding on to better
health and wellbeing. (Kids raised by same sex couples are Healthier and Happier ). Through these
studies there are positive responses that demonstrate same sex couples adoption does not cause any
harmful insecurities to the child, they are found to be the same as a child raised by a heterosexual
couple. Furthermore, same sex parents can provide shelter and love just like any other pair of parents,
yet children still need a

The Importance Of Cursive Writing
Should cursive writing still be taught in school? In the fifth century, cursive writing was established by
the Romans Empire in Europe. Because before they don t have phone or computer with them to get
information and they stated cursive writing to get information and share. Cursive writing is more
important. Cursive writing should taught in school because it s helps kids to write fast, helps kids
brian make more storage, kids will be able to read when other people write cursive. Cursive writing
connects student to the past. William said children may teach to read more sasaki especially dyslexia
(William 2013). They read cursive writing and would be able to read historical documents. We should
be focusing on keyboarding skills and other computer based communication (Cindi 2014). Many
teacher have increased in class writing assignments and these essays must be legible. People also say
that print is easier to read that cursive, but again graham say the research isn t definitive on this either.
Cursive writing is a faster way of writing than printing. Because kids brain involved in thinking
language and working memory (William 2014). It is important that student writer at a speed that will
enable them to finish their lask. Copying text like a poem helps kids to internalize (Cindi, 2014). It can
improve if they write what they are reading addition to them learning. There s also some research that

Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness
Chinua Achebe s controversial essay published in 1977 focuses on the racist views woven into Joseph
Conrad s 1899 novella, Heart of Darkness. Achebe claims that Conrad uses many western stereotypes
of Africa and subtly weaves them below the surface of his writing. However, due to the popularity of
the novella and the skill of Conrad, his racist views go undetected. The most obvious indicator of
Conrad s racist views is the depictions of the people. They are described as savage creatures, yet
Conrad s novella is noted for its excellence and not its horrible racist claims. Conrad s novella is full
of parallels, such as the River Thames, which is peaceful and calm contrary to the Congo River, which
is depicted as being a rough and dangerous place. By creating these parallels Conrad is representing
the differences between the European people and the Natives of Congo because he fears the thought of
having anything in common with them. Achebe declares that the racist views in the novella come from
Conrad s own beliefs but to conceal them he hides behind multiple narrators. Achebe puts forth a
compelling article that delves deep into the depths of Heart of Darkness.
Although Chinua Achebe s essay brings forth some convincing points highlighting the racism within
Heart of Darkness, he makes too many assumptions about Conrad s true intentions and beliefs that are
not concrete enough to prove that Heart of Darkness is a racist novella. Achebe focuses largely on the
language that

Procedural Programming And Object Oriented Programming
PROCEDURAL PROGRAMMING
(https://neonbrand.com/website design/procedural programming vs object oriented programming a
review/ )
Procedural Programming which has been referred to as inline programming takes a more top down
approach to solving problems. When a program starts with a problem then that problem is broken
down into smaller sub problems or sub procedures. These sub problems are further broken down until
they get simple enough to be solved. The demerit with procedural programming is that if an edit is
needed to the program, we have to edit every line of it that corresponds to the original change in the
code. For example, a variable was set equal to 1 and if other sub procedures of the program rely on
that variable to function ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

RESEARCH FINDINGS ON OBJECT ORIENTED PROGRAMMING
(http://www.buyya.com/java/Chapter1.pdf)
System engineering principles and techniques such as model building, simulation, estimation, and
measurement are used to build software products through the Software Development Life Cycle
(SDLC). The software development life cycle is a stepwise and systematic process where each step
depends on the successful completion of the previous step all arranged in a sequential order. It can be
observed that the maintenance of software is 60% of overall cost, whereas all the other costs are only
40%. High maintenance costs are because of poor reuse of software components which is a critical
factor in system development. Hence, maintenance is an important factor to be considered in the
software development process. Also, earlier programming languages did not support reuse because of
the dependence of the program on its environment. Thus, Software maintenance and Software reuse
are the two major problems that demanded a new programming approach. The software required for
advanced applications are very complex and evolving and developing them is an equally challenging
task. The complexity of software requires a programming methodology that should have the

European Attitudes Towards Native Americans
European settlements in North America varied in their attitude towards Native Americans, even as
time went on European view of Native Americans changed. Each European state had different goals
when first coming to North American i.e. different political and economical goals. While some of the
settlements had some similarities i.e. the French and Dutch having similar relationships with the
Native Americans other like the Spanish differed greatly. The Spanish came of America for several
different reasons like search of precious metals i.e. gold Hernan Cortez and Francisco Pizarro, short

Congress Is The Most Powerful Group Of Politicians Within...
The United States congress is the most powerful group of politicians within the Governmental system
under the United States Constitution. Congress is the glue that holds the United States together

power Congress members are held in high regard for what they do, Congress main responsibly stems
from making laws to declaring war. With all this power and responsibility you would assume that

Another major issues is party dominance in each house and its relation to the President. Congress
members are elected individually and not by party. For example, If many Democratic s win seats in
the Senate, then the Senate is controlled by the Democrats and Vice Versa for the Republicans.
However, the issue is deeper than just one House being controlled by one specific party. Imagine a
Democratic Controlled Senate and a Republican controlled House of Representatives all under a
Democratic President. This is precisely the issue that President Barack Obama has been faced with
over the past 8 years, but he had to deal with both chambers being Republican Controlled. This made
his job a whole lot harder, he was constantly faced with having to fight Congress to pass bills and laws
under which he oversaw legislature. To this day Congress continues to beat him down and is
determined have him as merely a statistic by not passing his ObamaCare Act. Congress can also be
seen as dysfunctional due to the constitution. When the constitution was drafted it was to govern the
country for that period of time, to this day some of the same rules of the constitution are being
enforced many consists of the procedures in which congress functions. These procedures sometimes
make it difficult to pass laws through the House and Senate as they cause a blockage in a modern
system. But in order to modify it, majority of the members have to be in agreement of the amendment.

Essay on The Invisible Man s Identity
Upon opening Ralph Waldo Ellison s book The Invisible Man , one will discover the shocking story of
an unnamed African American and his lifelong struggle to find a place in the world. Recognizing the
truth within this fiction leads one to a fork in its reality; One road stating the narrators isolation is a
product of his own actions, the other naming the discriminatory views of the society as the
perpetrating force infringing upon his freedom. Constantly revolving around his own self destruction,
the narrator often settles in various locations that are less than strategic for a man of African American
background. To further address the question of the narrator s invisibility, it is important not only to

This distance seems to lessen as the narrator is introduced to the brotherhood, but this does not last for
long. Handed a new identity in order to maximize his protection, the narrator continues to walk away
from his true self. A new name, but a false name at that, the narrator continues to increase his sense of
invisibility. In due course, the narrator once again deals with the reality that he does not move by his
own accord. Exploited for evangelism, the narrator is left with the single option of leaving the
brotherhood. Once again he is left disposing of a fantasy that seemed tangible.
Holding a belief that opposes the advice his Grandfather once gave him, the narrator welcomes others
to exploit him. His Grandfather had once warned him of the tricks that the white would play, a sense
of trickery that the narrator becomes part of time and time again. For example, at the university he is
one of many African American males, but as he incorporates his own values into his work with Mr.
Norton he makes a huge mistake. The mistake itself being, bringing Mr. Norton to a a bar less than
suitable for a man of his color and standing. While at this bar he encounters a veteran who warns him
about Dr. Bledsoe and society as a whole. Dr. Bledsoe, an African American man with a role of
authority becomes intertwined with the fate of the narrator as misplaced trust is once again exploited.
This time taken advantage of by those of the same race and background,

Essay on THE SOVIET-AFGHAN WAR
Introduction
The Soviet Afghan War spanned nine years from late 1979 to early 1989 encompassing the terms of
two Soviet premiers and two United States presidents. Known also as the Soviet Union s Vietnam War
it too was a war of technology and power against a hardened and adaptive guerilla militia know as the
Mujahedeen (people doing jihad) that lead to an undetermined victor and a withdrawal of Soviet
forces.
In 1978 the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan was a poor, agrarian and socialist government. With
close ties to the Soviet Union the Afghan government became a concern to the United States by
summer 1979 due to issues of instability and the loss of key U.S. allies in the region. Under President

That same year the Saur Revolution ended the rein of the ruling monarchy and transformed
Afghanistan into a socialist based democratic republic and friendship treaties were signed with both
the United States and Russia. In early 1979 middle east unrest reached a culminating point and a key
U.S. ally, the Shah of Iran, was ousted by the Islamic Revolution and the U.S. Ambassador to
Afghanistan was kidnapped and subsequently killed in a raid carried out by Afghan police and Soviet
advisors, this led to a breakdown in U.S. Afghan relations.
With radical Soviet influenced changes to the current Islamic culture encompassing land ownership,
marital law, education and social rights by the new Afghan regime tens of thousands of people in
traditional Islamic society fled Afghanistan or were imprisoned and executed by the government. This
began an Afghan civil war and the rise of the Mujahedeen in 1979. The United States took this as an
opportunity to coerce the Soviet Union into war by covertly arming the Mujahedeen in order to fight
the communist backed government. With the Afghan government losing credibility with the Afghan
people and control of the Afghan military by the desertion of soldiers willing to join the Mujahedeen
they called on their Soviet allies to provide military assistance. During the summer of 1979 Moscow
responded by sending enough men and equipment to provide security for the government in Kabul,

Bog Bodies
This book informs the reader about bog bodies and how crucial they are to scientists because they re a
journey to the past. Bog bodies are bodies that were deposited in a bog shortly after death, they were
then naturally preserved in the bog. To clarify why they re so important, bog bodies are usually so well
preserved that their skin, intestines and other parts of their body remain. Scientists study them and
they are able to find when they died, using radiocarbon analysis, and how they died which is only
possible it s not a skeleton because certain wounds can only be seen on skin and not on bones. There

Scientists look at only a few apparatus to discover additional information about the past, they analyze
fossils, artifacts, preserved bodies, and ancient architecture. With bog bodies gone, that leaves a
miniscule amount of items to study. Artifacts or items belonging to ancient people don t provide
tremendous amounts of information. Additionally, fossils belong to a whole other category, animals
and plants from prehistoric times. Consequently, this doesn t provide information about primitive
culture and don t assist scientists seeking data on primeval civilization. Furthermore, bog bodies are
probably the most complex sources of enlightenment because they can provide clothing, weapons, and
materials of specific eras, as well as informing us about their actions. For instance, of scientists
suspected the person was sacrificed we can conclude that whatever civilization they were from
practiced human sacrifice. In all honesty, bog bodies would be a grand loss because they re far more
intriguing than other artifacts. Considering this, bog bodies supply insight about someone s life and it
simulates reading an autobiography because you find out multitudes of information about the person,
even if they re dead. Another bog body they studied was the Yde Girl, she was found in 1987 in the

she had scoliosis, which impairs how you walk because it s a mild spinal curvature. The toes of her
right foot also signified that she might ve been slightly pigeon toed. Scientists also noticed that she
was stabbed and strangled with her on belt, which was left on her neck after death. Perhaps she was

Caravaggio And The Caravaggesque
Caravaggio, arguably one of the best Baroque artists of all time. Best known for his extremely
detailed, and realistic style of Baroque art, which, when paired together with Annibale Carracci (1560
1609 ) classical style, allowed for him to overshadow the almost mundane style of Mannerism.
Though he was not considered the best artist of his time, when he was alive, he managed to
reinvigorate religious art in both Rome and Naples, allowing for wide spread change in the religious
art world, that, after spreading through Rome, reached almost all corners of Europe. Though
Caravaggio was acursed with a violent hand, he is considered to be one of the most influential artists
of the 17th century, as his style revolved around taking certain characteristics from previous afamed
artists, thus allowing for him to create his own unique style that was recognized nationwide, leading to
the term caravaggesque, meaning, when a painting mimics the style of his works, it is deemed as
being caravaggesque . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to Rome in order to further pursue his career as an artist, and indeed, this is when Cardinal Francesco

Capacity Management And Resource Planning
.0 Introduction
Medic Call is an organisation which provides 24 hour reassurance to the elderly and vulnerable
through a personal alarm system which can contact their family and neighbours and should any
problems arise.
There are many issues facing operations managers within Medic Call while ensuring they keep their
focus on customer service. These issues include, staff training this is very lengthy and costly which is
large issue they need to deal with, this interlinks with the fact they have a very high level of staff
turnover. Furthermore Medic Call need to address their staff productivity issues and ensure all their

Armistead et al (1994 p 6), states they are as follows;
1. The limited ability of the organization to alter capacity in terms of both the extent of the change and
response time to make the change while having to deal with rapid fluctuations in demand.
2. The need to deliver consistent levels of customer service.
3. The varying degrees of uncertainty in demand.
2.2 Importance of Capacity Management
There is a connection associated between, capacity management, resource productivity and quality
management which, Armistead et al (1994), argued is at the heart of the control and planning process
within operations management in the service industry.
Capacity management and all its elements including, staff, delivery systems and processes is such a
large part of any organisation it is vital to its success. For any organisation being able to manage
capacity is critical to the simple business function of providing a service to meet the demand set by
customers. (Hill et al, 2011)
3.0 Capacity Decisions
It is to be expected that more insightful capacity decisions can be made when demand can be
forecasted accurately. Nonetheless, demand can fluctuate through unpredictable factor, such as,
weather conditions. When faced with these circumstances even forecasting techniques of the highest
standard may not be sufficient enough to provide enough detailed information. (A Betts et al 2000) 3.1

Transgressive Humor In Matt Stone s South Park
Satirical comedy is a form of aggressive humor that attacks its target from a sense of outrage and with
hope of some reform. In contrast, transgressive humor has no such moral desire. Transgressive humor
does not expect or desire change and is childish in nature. Though not in its nature, transgressive
humor does have the ability to playfully criticize ignorance, prejudice or stereotypes. Such is the case
in the most successful, transgressive comedy based show to date, South Park. Created by Trey Parker
and Matt Stone, South Park is a half hour show, purposefully animated poorly, and focuses on the
adventures of four nine year old boys in a small, redneck mountain town. The boys, Stan, Kyle,

Riot Grrrl Sociology
These three readings offer some insight into how music is not only used as a means of entertainment,
but in other ways such as self expression and as a voice for the audience. In Julia Downes s journal
article (The expansion of punk rock: Riot Grrrl challenges to gender power relations in British indie
music subcultures) she discusses and explores how the punk feminist movement, Riot grrrl, provoked
young woman and girls to stand up and rebel against the norm of culture, such as how punk was a
male dominated genre. Hector Qirko agrees with this thesis as in his article, (Consumer authentication

Persuasive Essay On Prison Reform
Today, it seems almost incomprehensible that so many people with serious mental illnesses reside in
prisons instead of receiving treatment. Over a century and a half ago, reform advocates like Dorothea
Dix campaigned for prison reform, urging lawmakers to house the mentally ill in hospitals rather than
in prisons. The efforts undertaken by Dix and other like minded reformers were successful: from
around 1870 to 1970, most of the United States mentally ill population was housed in hospitals rather
than in prisons. Considering reformers made great strides in improving this situation over a century
and a half ago. Granted, mental hospitals in the late 19th and early 20th century were often badly run
and critically flawed, but rather than pushing for reform of these hospitals, many politicians lobbied
for them to close their doors, switching instead to a community based system for treating the mentally
ill. Although deinstitutionalization was originally understood as a humane way to offer more suitable
services to the mentally ill in community based settings, some politicians seized upon it as a way to
save money by shutting down institutions without providing any meaningful treatment alternatives.
This callousness has created a one way road to prison for massive numbers of impaired individuals
and the inhumane warehousing of thousands of mentally ill people. Nevertheless, there are things that
can be done to lower the rate mentally ill persons are being incarcerated. Such

Theme Of Foreshadowing In A Doll House
A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen, is a play that follows Nora Helmer and her husband Torvald Helmer
through the holiday season and the fall of their marriage. Within the two acts there are many figurative
language devices used to help further the story along, however, there are a few in specific that stand
out. The play s foreshadowing, symbolism, and irony all contribute the most to the play s overall
development of Nora s self affirmation. Foreshadowing in A Doll House is present from the beginning
of the story. Much of which is not noticeable until later events. In the beginning of Act 1 Nora hides
her macaroons from Torvald, HELMER: Hasn t Miss Sweet Tooth been breaking rules in town today?
... taken a bite at a macaroon or two? NORA: No, Torvald. (Ibsen, 1657). Although it is minor in
nature, it reveals Nora s character of being rebellious despite Torvald s wishes. The effect this
characterization has on the story is that she is not the obeying wife that many were in the Victorian
Era. Through this foreshadowing the reader can begin to identify the conflicts of Nora and Torvald s
relationship that get developed on as the play progresses. Another example of foreshadowing is in Act
2 when Nora is getting ready to leave out to town, when she engages in a conversation with Anne
Marie about the children asking, Do they ask for me much? . To which Anne Marie responds, They re
so used to having Mama around, you know. . This is important because Nora replies with, Yes, but
Anne Marie, I can t be together with them as much as I was. (Ibsen, 1675). This hints towards Nora
abandoning her role as a mother, which in the end occurs when she leaves Torvald to find herself and
become independent. The foreshadowing throughout the play contributed to the dramatic ending.
Symbolism in A Doll House is another key element in the development of the play. The setting of the
play was during Christmas Eve throughout December 26th. Typically, this is the ending of the year
and represents family being together. However, as the play progresses, the optimistic outlook on
Christmas that is expected changes. In the opening description of the setting in Act 1 Nora tells
Helene, Hide the tree well... The children mustn t get a

Essay on Designer Babies
Designer Babies
I ve been poked and prodded at ever since I can remember, but what I didn t know was that I was
actually a poked and prodded at individual even before my existence. Transplanted DNA is what they
should have named me instead of Wang. I find my existence to be not as real or as wanted as others
who were conceived naturally with both loving parents and even the idea of other loving parents
adopting their children. It just seems unfair that my parents would make decisions for me before I was
even born. The idea of someone wanting to create their child is absurd. Our bodies own process of
getting rid of the bad genes is something we can not control. We can not begin to have the same
instinct as our bodies. Allowing this to go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sure the genes come from the birth parents, but altering the outcome of both the mother and father
combined defeats the whole point of making a baby together. What is more, we know from tracking
the life of the adult exactly what the designer baby will look like at the age of two, ten, twenty, thirty
and so on (Dixon). The idea of knowing what ones child will look like when it grows up defeats the
whole purpose of life itself. There are no surprises, no set backs, just this steady ongoing nothingness
forming a society where there is no more emotions.
Parents should love their child for the person they become, no matter what decisions they make in
their lifetime. Decisions only they themselves can make, based on their own thoughts. Thus, piecing
together the person and their identity, like a puzzle of who they want to grow up to be. Not being able
to choose hair and eye color is like taking away that persons right as an individual, freedom of choice.
The unborn child will grow up to make their own choices, regardless of the way nature intended them
to look like. This is inevitable, and the way of life. Otherwise the child exists as a trophy in the eyes of
its parents. A life created against the beauty of traits that make each person unique in their own, one of
a kind self made image. Life is a precious commodity, the only thing we ourselves have full control
over. The twists

Graffiti And Street Art
Until the late 1960s, art was demonstrated mostly within the closed doors of museums, galleries or
homes, however art experienced a change during the 1970s when graffiti and street art movements
came into view. Despite the differences between graffiti and street art, the history of street art was
derived from graffiti. Graffiti movement, aka style writing (Blanché, 2015, p. 32), emerged during the
1960s 1970s in New York City and Philadelphia as a rebellious movement and became synonymous
with hip hop culture during the 1980s (Waclawek, 2008, p. 2). Graffiti initially involved tagging,

The Value Of Fair Value
The fair value option allow all entities to select and measure eligible items at a fair value at a specified
date. The decision involved in whether to elect the fair value option have following conditions. The
conditions include that it could be applied instrument by instrument, could be irrevocable which
means it cannot be changed and the last condition is applying only to instrument and not to only

business entities to use fair value to measure specific financial assets and financial liabilities in

One of the main advantages of fair value accounting is that it provides a basis for reporting financial

Similarities Between Antigone And Thomas King
Society plays a crucial role in everyone s lives as it directs the way one behaves, observes, and

roles and decisions executed by the protagonists according to societal expectations. To briefly
describe, Antigone is a play set in the ancient Geek era where the protagonist, Antigone, breaks a law
that holds the punishment of death, to give her traitorous brother a respectable funeral. On the other

To emphasize, the phrase we had nowhere to go, that neither the Americans nor the Canadians would

making the trip difficult not only for herself but her son as well (King 312). Not to mention, it also
illustrates that the mother is trying to dismiss her motherly characteristics like being nurturing and
affectionate and put up a hardened exterior because she wants acceptance for herself. However, she
did express some hope for her son to ensure him that they will gain justice eventually, which
demonstrates that even if she tries to venture out of the societal norms, her motherly instincts will
always be there (King 312). Moreover, it establishes that mother is willing to push until she gets her
way which is again typical of male qualities. Therefore, the violation of the societal expectations
reveals the narrator s mother s strong will to surpass the fear of the aftermath by not complying to

necessarily incurred to bring it to the condition and location necessary for its intended use, in
principle, the cost incurred in financing expenditures for an asset during a required construction or

relationship between acquiring an asset and the incurrence of interest cost makes interest cost
analogous to a direct cost that is readily and objectively assignable to the acquired asset. Failure to

Summary Of The NovelSpill, Simmer Falter, Wither
In the award winning novel Spill, Simmer, Falter, Wither by Sara Baume there is lots of detail using
imagery and a strong unbreakable bond between a man and his dog. During this novel there will be
two characters a 57 year old bitter man named Ray and an eager one eyed dog named One Eye. While
these two are very similar in many ways they also have differences and challenges that unfold during
the novel. Both Ray and One Eye are similar in that they both share sadness. They both didn t have
moms growing up. Ray s mom abandoned him when he was just a baby. Ray states I d like to believe
the house itself gave birth to me (page 12 13). One Eye also didn t have any parents he was all alone
abandoned in the pound and still would be if it wasn t for Ray (page 6). They also share the same
sadness on page 47 Ray says, Sometimes I see the same sadness in you, the same sadness that s in me.

Analysis Of Katha Pollitt s The Hunger Games Feral...
In Katha Pollitt s essay entitled The Hunger Games Feral Feminism, Pollitt writes about what reality
television might look like if taken to extremes. Reality television is a huge part of our culture today,
and I not only agree with Pollitt s views and ideas of what reality TV would look if taken to the
extremes, but I believe that we have already gotten to that point. Today s reality TV shows such as
Keeping up with the Kardashians , The Bachelorette or any of the Real Housewives are among many
of today s popular shows that focus on extreme aggression, bullying, physical beauty, and sex appeal.
These TV shows teach us that it is not only ok to compromise morals and values, but that type of
behavior accepted and rewarded. In today s age, reality TV generally has to go negative and go to the
extreme in order for it to be interesting despite the lasting impact that it may have on viewers. Reality
TV has an impact on the values of their viewers and alters how they may perceive real life situations.
Therefore, it s important to take a look at some of the standards portrayed by reality TV.
Reality television is a huge part of our television viewing culture and the line between right and wrong
is not always clear to many of the viewers. The fact is, the extreme behaviors displayed are not real or
normal in the world that exists outside of reality TV. Many reality shows depict women idealizing

Difference Between Human Resources Management And Payroll...
Human Resources Management and Payroll Cycle The Human Resources Management (HRM) and
the Payroll Cycle, which represent two connected but autonomous subsystems, are one of the five core
transaction cycles inherent in every organisation. According to Romney and Steinbart (2015) they can
be defined as a recurring set of business activities and related data processing operations associated
with effectively managing the employee workforce (p.443). In this process the HRM system conducts
all tasks which can be grouped into recruiting, training, job assignment, performance evaluation and
discharge of employees. The major activities of the payroll system concern compensation as well as
allocation of personnel cost to products and departments. Since both procedures require a different
kind of knowledge and skills, the associated duties are often segregated so that the HR department
manages the HRM part whereas the Controlling is responsible for the payroll system (Romney
Steinbart, 2015). The whole construct is illustrated in Figure 1. The main ... Show more content on

resources of every organisation are limited and therefore cost benefit considerations might affect the

Student Loans Argumentative Essay
As educational cost has altogether expanded in the course of the last 20 30 years, it has turned out to
be extremely prevalent for college students to support their financial costs through student loans.
Higher educational costs have turned out to be so expensive that it is nearly impossible for students to
accommodate these expenses by just working alone. Education loan debt in the United States now
stands at approximately $ 1.2 trillion, and some thirty nine million Americans, nearly 20% of U.S.
households, owe student loans (Austin, 2015). As a result, countless numbers of college students hold
a large obligation to pay off these student loans once they graduate. Obligation from such student
loans has turned into a classic reality and something students of this generation expect when being

his beliefs of Universal Health Care System, affordable education, better social security and welfare,
the right for a woman to choose what she wants for her body, cares for the environment, but most
importantly, Bernie Sanders believes in America.

One of his greatest challenges as Mayor of Burlington was the Lake Champlain waterfront; he faced
against Tony Pomerleau, a developer backed by corporations who wanted to build apartment
complexes, office buildings, and hotels. Bernie Sanders campaigned against this with the slogan
Burlington is not for sale and created a plan to revitalize the waterfront. Sanders succeeded and
created a lively waterfront that brought the community together with public beaches and parks, a
boathouse, community gardens, and campsites; this area is now home to many events and
conservation efforts and is a tourist destination to visiting Vermont. In 1987, Bernie Sanders was voted
as one of the best mayors in America by the U.S. News World Report. Bernie Sanders success in
politics did not end there as he became the first socialist member of the House of Representatives and
the first independent member of the House of Representatives in 40 years. He was often ostracized
and misunderstood during this period as he did not belong to one party. Bernie Sanders, though he
became a successful member of the government still maintains his ideals from his youth. He fought

The Evolution of TCPIP and The Internet Essay
The Evolution of TCPIP and The Internet The Evolution of TCP/IP (and the Internet)
While the TCP/IP protocols and the Internet are different, their evolution are most definitely parallel.
This section will discuss some of the history.
Prior to the 1960s, what little computer communication existed comprised simple text and binary data,
carried by the most common telecommunications network technology of the day; namely, circuit
switching, the technology of the telephone networks for nearly a hundred years. Because most data
traffic transmissions occur during a very short period of time, circuit switching results in highly
inefficient use of network resources. In 1962, Paul Baran, of the Rand Corporation, described a robust,

The original ARPANET gave life to a number of protocols that were new to packet switching. One of
the most lasting results of the ARPANET was the development of a user network protocol that has
become the standard interface between users and packet switched networks; namely, ITU T (formerly
CCITT) Recommendation X.25. This standard interface encouraged BBN to start Telenet, a
commercial packet switched data service, in 1974; after much renaming, Telenet is now a part of
Sprint s X.25 service.
The initial host to host communications protocol introduced in the ARPANET was called the Network
Control Protocol (NCP). Over time, however, NCP proved to be incapable of keeping up with the
growing network traffic load. In 1974, a new, more robust suite of communications protocols was
proposed and implemented throughout the ARPANET, based upon the Transmission Control Protocol
(TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP). TCP and IP were originally envisioned functionally as a single
protocol, thus the protocol suite, which actually refers to a large collection of protocols and
applications, is usually referred to simply as TCP/IP. The original versions of both TCP and IP that are
in common use today were written in September 1981, although both have had several modifications
applied to them (in addition, the IP version 6, or IPv6, specification was released in December 1995).
In 1983, the DoD mandated that all of their computer systems would use the TCP/IP protocol suite for

Essay Marijuana Should Not Be Legalized
Marijuana Should Not Be Legalized Marijuana should not be legalized at all because it will have a
very negative effect on most people and the society overall in the U.S. Marijuana has a huge negative
impact on the youth of America. The adverse effects of marijuana have been well documented, and
research has demonstrated the negative effects of short and long term use of marijuana. These
consequences include impaired short term memory and decreased concentration, attention span, and
problem solving ; which all interfere with learning. Coordination, judgement, and reaction time has
also been documented as negative effects. Research has also shown that the adolescent brain is not
fully developed until the mid 20s. The younger an adolescent begins using marijuana; the more likely

This was a big problem in places like Colorado because they had all these people getting sick from
marijuana in the form of food. This was because the potency of the food was way too high to be
consumed all at once. These people had to go to emergency rooms and get their stomachs pumped out
in order to even be responsive. This wasn t too big of a problem because people weren t actually
dying, but we still need to get a better understanding of this drug nationwide before we legalize it.
Marijuana has a major impairment on societies just like every other drug does. The cost of legalizing
this drug would not only be a financial problem, it would be a big problem for the society of the
nation. Other than alcohol, marijuana is the leading cause of substance dependence. Statistics show
that about â…” of people suffering from substance dependence are suffering from marijuana dependence.
If the U.S. was to legalize marijuana then there would be a great increase in users and

Results Overall Characteristics of Selected Trials and Quality Assessment A total of 1736 articles were
initially identified. Of these, 1687 were excluded according to the exclusion criteria listed above. The
49 remaining articles with full texts that met the inclusion criteria were assessed.11, 14, 17 19, 25 A
total of 4 studies were included in this review. One study compared aflibercept with bevacizumab and
ranibizumab for centre involved DMO using a standardized follow up and retreatment regimen.17, 18
Due to there being only one study comparing aflibercept with other anti VEGF agents, it was not
included in the meta analysis. Figure 1 provides a flow diagram of the search process. In total, there
were 661 patients included in this meta analysis: 331 patients in the aflibercept group and 330 patients
in the photocoagulation group. The characteristics of the studies included and risk of bias assessment
are summarized in Tables 1 and 2. The DA VINCI study compared photocoagulation with monthly,
bimonthly and as needed or pro re nata (PRN) intravitreous aflibercept regimens. The PRN regimen
was selected for data extraction because this is the current practice with other anti VEGF drugs. The
VISTA and VIVID studies compared photocoagulation with 4 weekly intravitreous aflibercept (2q4)
and a regimen of five initial 4 weekly intravitreous aflibercept followed by 8 weekly injections (2q8).
The 2q8 regimen was selected for data extraction as the total number of injections in

Informative Essay On Wright Flyer
Wilbur Wright invented The Wright Flyer on December 17,1903 in Kitty Hawk,North Carolina. They
went to Kitty Hawk because it had strong winds. In 59 seconds it flew 852 feet in the air. To make the
airplane they tested birds on how they flew and they angled there wings. They invented the airplane
because they heard of a German glider pilot Otto Lilienthal and he died in a glider crash and The
Wright Brothers were wanting to decide to start experimenting about flying in 1899. The Wright
brothers did not have any money to make the Wright flyer. They also invented aircraft, and fixed wing
aircraft. In 1905 they were proud of The Wright Flyer because they sold a airplane to The United
States Army. In 1900 and 1901 they flew 2 gliders and they

President Executive Officer Director Chief Officer Essay
Overview
After thirty years at the helm of Fortuga Artisans, Inc., a home décor manufacturing company,
founded Peter Fortuga in 2011 announced his retirement to his staff. Expeditiously, the search for a
replacement commenced and the board of directors found Doug Jeffers, a well known interior
designer, to replace Fortuga as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). A charismatic, hard working, and well
connected individual, Jeffers appeared qualified through his innovative approach to lead the company
to new heights.
Analysis of Leadership Strategies
Due to his past success, one could presume Jeffers management approach would be inspirational, and
his community profile renders him as an authentic and charismatic leader. In fact, he degraded
employees, ignored other s sentiments and notions, determined strategic decisions unaided,
disregarded company policies, and discounted the need for work and life balance. As a result, Jeffers
personified the negative characteristics of charismatic leaders, and he is the antithesis of the positive
attributes. However, the public s perception of Jeffers did not translate over to the team at Fortuga. In
fact, he was distal to feedback and disregarded company policies these traits embody a charismatic
leader (Spahr, 2016). If Jeffers were a charismatic leader, he would be an effective communicator,
build trust, and influence those around him to become devout followers (Riggio, 2012). In this case,
his employees perceived Jeffers as a

Summary of the Book Hunger of Memory and Response to It.
Public or Private: Why not both? There exists in the majority of people a schism between their public
lives and their private lives. People should desire to have their public selves match their private selves
as closely as possible. A rift between the two causes nothing but pain and suffering for everyone
around those people and places a heavy burden on the spirit of the ones responsible. Trust and honesty
are essential to our society and the truth should be complimentary, not earned. Richard Rodriguez, a
writer and public speaker, expertly illustrates his own experience with this type of double life in his
autobiography, Hunger of Memory. In the last section of Hunger of Memory Mr. Secrets , Rodriguez
paints an intimate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later, Rodriguez s mother asks what Psychiatry is. His answer involves Freud, analysis, and clinically
trained listeners to which she replies, You mean that people tell a psychiatrist about their personal
lives? (183). Would that be so bad? The key to being completely open and honest is to not have any
regrets. Since the past can not be undone, no good can come from regret, people need only to learn
from it and move on. If nothing is regretted then no secrets are necessary and honesty comes naturally.
This simple idea, commonly practiced, can literally change the world. Rodriguez goes on to say, There
are things so deeply personal that they can be revealed only to strangers (185). Why is that? Why is it
often easier to speak of personal things with complete strangers? Perhaps Rodriguez believes that
strangers do not know him well enough to judge him, and should a judgment come regardless, he does
not know them well enough to care. That seems likely. However, this implies that he believes those
close to him will judge him and that he is self conscious enough to care. Is it any wonder that
Rodriguez has adopted the same insecure and secretive attitude of his mother? Thus, the cycle
continues. If Rodriguez would only let go of his regrets, he could get over his perceived loss and draw
his family and friends a closer than they have ever been before. In Hunger of Memory, the chapter

Little Italy Research Paper
Little Italy is unique because it is no longer the ethnic enclave it was 115 years ago. When comparing
Little Italy to other ethnic neighborhoods, we can immediately see differences. In Chinatown, for
example, there are many Chinese restaurants, businesses, and structures scattered throughout the
neighborhood. In addition, many Chinese people can be found visiting, working, and even living in
the enclave. When you see these Chinese individuals, they are often speaking the Chinese language.
Little Italy, however, is quite different from Chinatown. Unlike Chinatown, Little Italy has lost its
ethnic flavor. While Little Italy was once a neighborhood thriving with a heavy Italian immigration
base, overtime it has lost its identity.
The rapid growth of industry in Chicago created many opportunities for unskilled labor. These
industries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are Indians, Mexicans, Asians and many others diverse businesses established in Little Italy.
Chicago is known for its diversity. In Chicago all sorts of food, clothing, and music reflect numerous
cultures. There are numerous ethnic enclaves that have put Chicago on the map for its diversity.
However, not every ethnic enclave is what it seems. Compared to most ethnic enclaves in Chicago,
Little Italy is no longer what it was 115 years ago. You will not find a Chinatown or a Paseo Boricua
atmosphere you will not see Italians you will not hear the language and you will not have much access
to authentic Italian foods. Little Italy is Italian in name only as it no longer fits the definition of an
ethnic enclave. Italians, like other immigrants living in enclaves, feel the need to celebrate their
culture and history. Although they no longer live in the area, many return in August to celebrate their
roots. Even though Little Italy is a mix of ethnic diversity, Italian Americans still share the sense of
cultural pride shared by other ethnic

The Importance Of Post Clinical Trial Results In The...
Background Information
From 21 July 2014 it became compulsory to post clinical trial results in the European Clinical Trials
Database (EudraCT) which is managed by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and it is essential
for clinical study information to be made more reachable and accessible. By saying Clinical Trial the
agencies are referring to any trials on new drugs that are in preparation for a regulatory submission,
drugs, devices or procedures on any medical interventions and any other investigations that involves
of participants for research purposes, for example psychology studies. All of these clinical trials may
generate numerous amounts of result or data. Traditionally only a few results were published in
journals and they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also avoids excessive research and expands the accessible evidence on an intervention.
Four sets of information are needed:
Whether the trial has actually happened, which means it is necessary for the trial to be registered.
Information such as the study protocol, analysis plan and possible completion date of the trial could be
registered before the trial starts. This means the final result could be checked against the protocol and
would be easier to find out about any non published trials.
Summary of the method and results brief summary and result for every trial that was conducted.
Clinical Study Reports (CSR) to see whether there were any amendments to the protocol during the
course of the trial, which could mean that somebody has noticed something in the result and they want
to change the analysis in a way that is more flattering. Often information on adverse events is very
incompletely reported in journal articles but much more completed in CSR.
Clinical Study Report (CSR) is a lengthy and comprehensive document that gives information in
regards with the methods and results of a clinical trial. This document is submitted to regulatory by a
company who is looking for approval to market a novel drug . It is a source that addresses efficacy and
safety.
Individual Patient Data (IPD) this can be defined as the raw data from a clinical trial that has been
treated to

  • 2. State Of The Essay State of the Essay The thing about these essays is that the problems I encounter with them are twofold. It s like that scene in Jurassic Park where they realize that they have all the problems of a major zoo and a major amusement park. First, I have to worry about the time managment piece. When students wait until the last minute to do the work it s generally not very good or it s incomplete or both...probably both. That is a self discipline issue that is completely removed from what I m actually trained to teach my students. My hands are tied when I m confronted with this. The second problem is the problem that I actually enjoy dealing with; writing. This problem is multifaceted and fascinating. Working together at the task of becoming better writers is actually fun. I ve seen it become fun for other people. It s not just me. As I stated, the writing problem is multi faceted but those facets generally reside in one of three categories: content, form, and technicality. The content of a 110 student s paper includes the personal narrative, the universal, and the academic. I ve tried to explain the prompt a dozen different ways , but the one that has the best track record is this one: Think of a moment where you had an epiphany about life and what it meant to live it...what it meant to be you and why it meant that...something you learned about yourself that may benefit others in the telling. It sounds pretty good, but it s still inadequate. It still elicits ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Final essay Trumps new world order Krysteena Rodriguez Western Connecticut State University History 149 American history May 12, 2017 With last year being the first election that I could vote in, I took particular interest in keeping up with politics as much as I could. It was truly sad to see Obama leave office, being that he was a symbol of hope for so many, regardless of the critiques on how well he did his job. When our current president, something that is still hard for me to face the reality of, Donald Trump, announced his campaign I thought he had no chance. I did not see it possible for a man with no political background, who is only known for being a wealthy businessman along with reality star to become the leader of ... It would be beneficial for the president to meet with the founders of the movement, to discuss what they are advocating for and how the president can intervene. Let s look back at the early 1900s. Our countries history of slavery is no secret. Although slavery was abolished decades prior, the mindsets of those who lived during those times were stagnant. While they were freed from slavery, for long after, African Americans were not privileged with the same freedom of white Americans. It is common when racism is discussed that people mention when slavery was abolished however limitations were still put on ex slaves that limited their possibility of growing and achieving more. Foner stated, Nor could blacks, the majority desperately poor, participate fully in the emerging consumer economy, either as employees in the new department stores (except as janitors and cleaning women) or as purchasers of the consumer goods now flooding the marketplace. It is important that the struggles faced even after abolition be recognized. When blacks did not abide by Jim Crow laws created to keep black and whites divided they were met with violence. Foner mentioned a riot that resulted in the death of 39 people, leaving 500 others injured that took place due to a black male accidently overstepping a line that divided beaches between ... • 4. Fourteen Points by Woodrow Wilson Essay World War I was a period when countries faced economic, political, social, and cultural problems, which threatened the survival of democracy and freedom and needed a fast and effective resolution which was presented to the world by Woodrow Wilson called the Fourteen Points. The Fourteen Points offered the world a democratic resolute, that was effective, reliable and a basis for long lasting peace, unlike the Treaty of Versailles which was a non democratic approach to the problem since it contained a war guilt clause which forced Germany to admit sole responsibility for starting World War I, although other European nations had been guilty of provoking diplomatic crises before the war, also the treaty excluded Russia which was a major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The last way that the 14 Points would make the world safe for democracy was the 14th point which stated that a League of Nations was to be formed where all the countries of the world would have a say in political decisions like territorial boundaries of big and small states alike, and would try to keep world peace. The first way that the Fourteen Points were to make the world a safe place for democracy was that they would give the nations and people of Europe a say in the boundaries of their countries and would allow the creation of new nations like Serbia and Montenegro, Romania, and Poland, the points would also allow lost territory to be given back to the countries who lost it. By doing this the Fourteen points would have set up a base for democracy to expand because the new nations would then willingly accept democracy and would expand it even further. An example of this is the Vietnamese people who after the introduction of democracy were beginning to demand the same political rights enjoyed by people in Western Nations. The problem that the Fourteen Points were facing was the European leaders of England, France, and Italy who didn t want to have a peaceful resolution, but wanted to make the ... • 5. Collective Identity Within The Gay Community And Women s... Collective Identity within the Gay Community and Women s Liberation Movement The gay community and women s liberation movement were both formed through collective identities and political/oppositional consciousness. Moreover, both groups were discriminated against by external social structures and yet, succeeded due to internal factors. Whittier and Taylor describe collective identity as the shared definition of a group that derives from member s common interests, experiences, and solidarity (Whittier 105). The gay community was being oppressed for their sexuality while women were being suppressed based on their gender. Although both communities formed collective identities, they experienced numerous obstacles in unifying their movements, the most notable being race and ethnicity. Since both groups were being discriminated against due to factors out of their control, they formed collective identities and created communities, which propelled their movements forward. The shift from agricultural economy to capitalism changed family dynamics, and was directly linked to the appearance of a collective gay life (D emilio 102). In an agricultural society, families used to work together to produce food, clothing and other goods (D emilio 103). There was, quite simply no social space in colonial systems of production that allowed men and women to be gay (D emilio 104). In essence, survival was structured around a nuclear family until the emergence of the free labor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics illustrated children with gay parents and children with heterosexual parents show no differences in gender identity or gender role behaviors. A research carried out by Cambridge University consisted of finding differences and similarities between same sex couples and heterosexual of adoptive families. Researchers discovered The differences that did emerge relate to levels of depressive symptoms in parents, which are especially low for gay fathers, and the contrasting pathways to adoption which was second choice for many of the heterosexual and some lesbian parents but first choice for all but one of the gay parents. Not only does adoption rights for same sex couples help create families but also Gay adoption increases the pool of couples who are able to adopt, which can move more children out of the child welfare system into a stable family. This is a pro not only for the child, but it also reduces the financial burden to taxpayers. (Child warfare System). Another Research study was taken in Australia, Dr. Simon Crouch notes that in same sex couple parents have to take on roles that are suited to their skill sets rather than falling into those gender stereotypes. This leads to a more harmonious family unit and therefore feeding on to better health and wellbeing. (Kids raised by same sex couples are Healthier and Happier ). Through these studies there are positive responses that demonstrate same sex couples adoption does not cause any harmful insecurities to the child, they are found to be the same as a child raised by a heterosexual couple. • 9. Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness Chinua Achebe s controversial essay published in 1977 focuses on the racist views woven into Joseph Conrad s 1899 novella, Heart of Darkness. Achebe claims that Conrad uses many western stereotypes of Africa and subtly weaves them below the surface of his writing. However, due to the popularity of the novella and the skill of Conrad, his racist views go undetected. The most obvious indicator of Conrad s racist views is the depictions of the people. They are described as savage creatures, yet Conrad s novella is noted for its excellence and not its horrible racist claims. Conrad s novella is full of parallels, such as the River Thames, which is peaceful and calm contrary to the Congo River, which is depicted as being a rough and dangerous place. By creating these parallels Conrad is representing the differences between the European people and the Natives of Congo because he fears the thought of having anything in common with them. Achebe declares that the racist views in the novella come from Conrad s own beliefs but to conceal them he hides behind multiple narrators. Achebe puts forth a compelling article that delves deep into the depths of Heart of Darkness. Although Chinua Achebe s essay brings forth some convincing points highlighting the racism within Heart of Darkness, he makes too many assumptions about Conrad s true intentions and beliefs that are not concrete enough to prove that Heart of Darkness is a racist novella. • 10. Procedural Programming And Object Oriented Programming PROCEDURAL PROGRAMMING (https://neonbrand.com/website design/procedural programming vs object oriented programming a review/ ) Procedural Programming which has been referred to as inline programming takes a more top down approach to solving problems. When a program starts with a problem then that problem is broken down into smaller sub problems or sub procedures. These sub problems are further broken down until they get simple enough to be solved. The demerit with procedural programming is that if an edit is needed to the program, we have to edit every line of it that corresponds to the original change in the code. For example, a variable was set equal to 1 and if other sub procedures of the program rely on that variable to function ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 4. Problems in procedural programming need to be individually addressed as the program is executed whereas in object oriented programming objects and classes can be referenced throughout the program. RESEARCH FINDINGS ON OBJECT ORIENTED PROGRAMMING (http://www.buyya.com/java/Chapter1.pdf) System engineering principles and techniques such as model building, simulation, estimation, and measurement are used to build software products through the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The software development life cycle is a stepwise and systematic process where each step depends on the successful completion of the previous step all arranged in a sequential order. It can be observed that the maintenance of software is 60% of overall cost, whereas all the other costs are only 40%. High maintenance costs are because of poor reuse of software components which is a critical factor in system development. Hence, maintenance is an important factor to be considered in the software development process. Also, earlier programming languages did not support reuse because of the dependence of the program on its environment. Thus, Software maintenance and Software reuse are the two major problems that demanded a new programming approach. The software required for advanced applications are very complex and evolving and developing them is an equally challenging task. The complexity of software requires a programming methodology that should have the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, If many Democratic s win seats in the Senate, then the Senate is controlled by the Democrats and Vice Versa for the Republicans. However, the issue is deeper than just one House being controlled by one specific party. Imagine a Democratic Controlled Senate and a Republican controlled House of Representatives all under a Democratic President. This is precisely the issue that President Barack Obama has been faced with over the past 8 years, but he had to deal with both chambers being Republican Controlled. This made his job a whole lot harder, he was constantly faced with having to fight Congress to pass bills and laws under which he oversaw legislature. To this day Congress continues to beat him down and is determined have him as merely a statistic by not passing his ObamaCare Act. Congress can also be seen as dysfunctional due to the constitution. When the constitution was drafted it was to govern the country for that period of time, to this day some of the same rules of the constitution are being enforced many consists of the procedures in which congress functions. With bog bodies gone, that leaves a miniscule amount of items to study. Artifacts or items belonging to ancient people don t provide tremendous amounts of information. Additionally, fossils belong to a whole other category, animals and plants from prehistoric times. Consequently, this doesn t provide information about primitive culture and don t assist scientists seeking data on primeval civilization. Furthermore, bog bodies are probably the most complex sources of enlightenment because they can provide clothing, weapons, and materials of specific eras, as well as informing us about their actions. For instance, of scientists suspected the person was sacrificed we can conclude that whatever civilization they were from practiced human sacrifice. Best known for his extremely detailed, and realistic style of Baroque art, which, when paired together with Annibale Carracci (1560 1609 ) classical style, allowed for him to overshadow the almost mundane style of Mannerism. • 26. Persuasive Essay On Prison Reform Today, it seems almost incomprehensible that so many people with serious mental illnesses reside in prisons instead of receiving treatment. Over a century and a half ago, reform advocates like Dorothea Dix campaigned for prison reform, urging lawmakers to house the mentally ill in hospitals rather than in prisons. The efforts undertaken by Dix and other like minded reformers were successful: from around 1870 to 1970, most of the United States mentally ill population was housed in hospitals rather than in prisons. Considering reformers made great strides in improving this situation over a century and a half ago. Granted, mental hospitals in the late 19th and early 20th century were often badly run and critically flawed, but rather than pushing for reform of these hospitals, many politicians lobbied for them to close their doors, switching instead to a community based system for treating the mentally ill. Although deinstitutionalization was originally understood as a humane way to offer more suitable services to the mentally ill in community based settings, some politicians seized upon it as a way to save money by shutting down institutions without providing any meaningful treatment alternatives. This callousness has created a one way road to prison for massive numbers of impaired individuals and the inhumane warehousing of thousands of mentally ill people. Nevertheless, there are things that can be done to lower the rate mentally ill persons are being incarcerated. Such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Theme Of Foreshadowing In A Doll House A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen, is a play that follows Nora Helmer and her husband Torvald Helmer through the holiday season and the fall of their marriage. Within the two acts there are many figurative language devices used to help further the story along, however, there are a few in specific that stand out. The play s foreshadowing, symbolism, and irony all contribute the most to the play s overall development of Nora s self affirmation. Foreshadowing in A Doll House is present from the beginning of the story. Much of which is not noticeable until later events. In the beginning of Act 1 Nora hides her macaroons from Torvald, HELMER: Hasn t Miss Sweet Tooth been breaking rules in town today? ... taken a bite at a macaroon or two? NORA: No, Torvald. (Ibsen, 1657). Although it is minor in nature, it reveals Nora s character of being rebellious despite Torvald s wishes. The effect this characterization has on the story is that she is not the obeying wife that many were in the Victorian Era. Through this foreshadowing the reader can begin to identify the conflicts of Nora and Torvald s relationship that get developed on as the play progresses. Another example of foreshadowing is in Act 2 when Nora is getting ready to leave out to town, when she engages in a conversation with Anne Marie about the children asking, Do they ask for me much? . To which Anne Marie responds, They re so used to having Mama around, you know. . This is important because Nora replies with, Yes, but Anne Marie, I can t be together with them as much as I was. (Ibsen, 1675). This hints towards Nora abandoning her role as a mother, which in the end occurs when she leaves Torvald to find herself and become independent. The foreshadowing throughout the play contributed to the dramatic ending. Symbolism in A Doll House is another key element in the development of the play. The setting of the play was during Christmas Eve throughout December 26th. Typically, this is the ending of the year and represents family being together. However, as the play progresses, the optimistic outlook on Christmas that is expected changes. In the opening description of the setting in Act 1 Nora tells Helene, Hide the tree well... Obligation from such student loans has turned into a classic reality and something students of this generation expect when being admitted to a university. Individuals trust that an education from a university is justified regardless of the sticker price. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are nonfederal loans issued by a lender such as a bank or credit union. Private education loans require students to pass a credit check in order to obtain the best rates, unlike Stafford loans. Due to the fact that most first time college students lack a lengthy credit history, this usually implies enrolling a co signer, particularly one who s prepared to tackle the obligation if the student abandons repayments. When black, white and Hispanic people stand together for justice, we win. Bernie Sanders started as a young activist fighting to desegregate and end the Vietnam war, As he got older he dwelled into politics and became a self identified socialist; he competed against corporate backing and a corrupt political system yet remained true to his beliefs of Universal Health Care System, affordable education, better social security and welfare, the right for a woman to choose what she wants for her body, cares for the environment, but most importantly, Bernie Sanders believes in America. Sanders succeeded and created a lively waterfront that brought the community together with public beaches and parks, a boathouse, community gardens, and campsites; this area is now home to many events and conservation efforts and is a tourist destination to visiting Vermont. • 43. The Evolution of TCPIP and The Internet Essay The Evolution of TCPIP and The Internet The Evolution of TCP/IP (and the Internet) While the TCP/IP protocols and the Internet are different, their evolution are most definitely parallel. This section will discuss some of the history. Prior to the 1960s, what little computer communication existed comprised simple text and binary data, carried by the most common telecommunications network technology of the day; namely, circuit switching, the technology of the telephone networks for nearly a hundred years. Because most data traffic transmissions occur during a very short period of time, circuit switching results in highly inefficient use of network resources. In 1962, Paul Baran, of the Rand Corporation, described a robust, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The original ARPANET gave life to a number of protocols that were new to packet switching. One of the most lasting results of the ARPANET was the development of a user network protocol that has become the standard interface between users and packet switched networks; namely, ITU T (formerly CCITT) Recommendation X.25. This standard interface encouraged BBN to start Telenet, a commercial packet switched data service, in 1974; after much renaming, Telenet is now a part of Sprint s X.25 service. The initial host to host communications protocol introduced in the ARPANET was called the Network Control Protocol (NCP). Over time, however, NCP proved to be incapable of keeping up with the growing network traffic load. In 1974, a new, more robust suite of communications protocols was proposed and implemented throughout the ARPANET, based upon the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP). TCP and IP were originally envisioned functionally as a single protocol, thus the protocol suite, which actually refers to a large collection of protocols and applications, is usually referred to simply as TCP/IP. The original versions of both TCP and IP that are in common use today were written in September 1981, although both have had several modifications applied to them (in addition, the IP version 6, or IPv6, specification was released in December 1995). In 1983, the DoD mandated that all of their computer systems would use the TCP/IP protocol suite for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Expeditiously, the search for a replacement commenced and the board of directors found Doug Jeffers, a well known interior designer, to replace Fortuga as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). A charismatic, hard working, and well connected individual, Jeffers appeared qualified through his innovative approach to lead the company to new heights. Analysis of Leadership Strategies Due to his past success, one could presume Jeffers management approach would be inspirational, and his community profile renders him as an authentic and charismatic leader. In fact, he degraded employees, ignored other s sentiments and notions, determined strategic decisions unaided, disregarded company policies, and discounted the need for work and life balance. As a result, Jeffers personified the negative characteristics of charismatic leaders, and he is the antithesis of the positive attributes. However, the public s perception of Jeffers did not translate over to the team at Fortuga. In fact, he was distal to feedback and disregarded company policies these traits embody a charismatic leader (Spahr, 2016). • 48. Summary of the Book Hunger of Memory and Response to It. Public or Private: Why not both? There exists in the majority of people a schism between their public lives and their private lives. People should desire to have their public selves match their private selves as closely as possible. A rift between the two causes nothing but pain and suffering for everyone around those people and places a heavy burden on the spirit of the ones responsible. Trust and honesty are essential to our society and the truth should be complimentary, not earned. Richard Rodriguez, a writer and public speaker, expertly illustrates his own experience with this type of double life in his autobiography, Hunger of Memory. His answer involves Freud, analysis, and clinically trained listeners to which she replies, You mean that people tell a psychiatrist about their personal lives? (183). Would that be so bad? The key to being completely open and honest is to not have any regrets. Since the past can not be undone, no good can come from regret, people need only to learn from it and move on. If nothing is regretted then no secrets are necessary and honesty comes naturally. This simple idea, commonly practiced, can literally change the world. Rodriguez goes on to say, There are things so deeply personal that they can be revealed only to strangers (185). Why is that? Why is it often easier to speak of personal things with complete strangers? Perhaps Rodriguez believes that strangers do not know him well enough to judge him, and should a judgment come regardless, he does not know them well enough to care. That seems likely. However, this implies that he believes those close to him will judge him and that he is self conscious enough to care. Is it any wonder that Rodriguez has adopted the same insecure and secretive attitude of his mother? Thus, the cycle continues. If Rodriguez would only let go of his regrets, he could get over his perceived loss and draw his family and friends a closer than they have ever been before. In Hunger of Memory, the chapter ... In addition, many Chinese people can be found visiting, working, and even living in the enclave. When you see these Chinese individuals, they are often speaking the Chinese language. Background Information From 21 July 2014 it became compulsory to post clinical trial results in the European Clinical Trials Database (EudraCT) which is managed by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and it is essential for clinical study information to be made more reachable and accessible. By saying Clinical Trial the agencies are referring to any trials on new drugs that are in preparation for a regulatory submission, drugs, devices or procedures on any medical interventions and any other investigations that involves of participants for research purposes, for example psychology studies. This also avoids excessive research and expands the accessible evidence on an intervention. Four sets of information are needed: Whether the trial has actually happened, which means it is necessary for the trial to be registered. Information such as the study protocol, analysis plan and possible completion date of the trial could be registered before the trial starts. This means the final result could be checked against the protocol and would be easier to find out about any non published trials.
