The Jacksonian Democratic Party And The Whig Party
The Jacksonian Democratic Party and the Whig Party each, exemplified different beliefs on the
role of the federal government in the economy and towards westward expansion in the 1830s and
1840s. However, the Jacksonian, laissez faire supporting Democrats and the economic nationalistic
Whig party shared almost no beliefs except for the removal of American Indians in the areas their
supporters wished to settle. The lack of similarities is because the Whigs formed their own party to
oppose President Jackson s strong armed leadership style and policies which earned him the
nickname King Andrew. The Jacksonian Democratic Partyevolved out of the Democratic
Republican Party in the early 1800s, the core of its membership was composed of farmers,
immigrants, and white Southerners. The Whigs formed in 1834 and lasted for 20 years, they were
the major political party that opposed Andrew Jackson. The Whigs were created based upon the
Federalist beliefs in a strong federal government and adopted many Federalist and National
Republican policy ideas, including federal funding for internal improvements, a central bank, and
high tariffs to protect the growth of manufacturing enterprises. Overall, the Jacksonian Democratic
agrarian Party and the industrialization supporting Whig Party had different beliefs toward the role
of the federal government in the economy and towards westward expansion. The role of the federal
government in the economy was a heated dispute between the Jacksonian

Why I Want To Become A Nail Technician
Growing up in a single parent household can be tough in terms of pleasing your parent. You re
not able to go and get a second opinion from another parent when making decisions. If he/she
doesn t agree with your decision it leaves a bad taste in your mouth because you don t want to
disappoint him/her. My mother probably expected me to graduate college with my associate s
degree and land a job at IBM. Introducing the idea of me becoming a nail technician to her was
nerve wrecking. I expected rejection followed by a lecture about what would be a better career
path for me. Surprisingly after explaining to her why I chose the beauty industry, my long term
goals, and how nail carewill pay a role in my future career she was just as excited as I... Show more

Kalea from k_bossnails, who is not only a celebrity nail stylist but an instructor, changed my
way of thinking. Since I followed her on Instagram and snapchat I ve been inspired and it
motivated me to start my own career. It s amazing how much expression can be put into a full
set of nails. Nails have become a part of a female s wardrobe. Everywhere I go someone
compliments my nails and my nail selfies always receive a lot of likes. I m on social media every
day and I keep up with the latest trends. It s only right that I join the beauty industry.
Not only am I surrounded by beauticians but a few of them are successful salon owners. I too
hope to own a nail studio. I didn t just choose to be a part of this industry but I set goals for
myself once I receive my license. Before I become a salon owner I have to prepare myself for
the responsibility that comes with it. One of my friends offered me a position at her salon after
I obtain my certificate. This is the perfect opportunity because I ll be able to see firsthand the
responsibilities of being an owner, and I will still get the experience of paying booth rent. I notice
that the nail salons in my area rarely do promotions. At my friend s salon not only do the
beauticians have promotions, but they offer packages for the clients. We talked about adding
manicures to the packages which could build my clientele. I d be able to attract girls in high school

How Did Robespierre Justify The French Revolution
Kate Connolly
Mrs. Collesano
AP Global Period 1
12/3/2017
Maximilien Robespierre played a significant role in the French Revolution that changed the
course of the restructuring of France. He was a leading political figure that gained more power
and influence throughout the events leading to the development of the revolution. The events
that led to his domination were history altering events for the history of France. Robespierre s
goal was to rid France of anyone who seemed like a threat to him by using terror and death. He
had many points that were used to justify why exactly the Terror was used to help the revolution.
Robespierre s goal for the Terror was not the outcome he saw, as his plan led to corruption by too
much bloodshed, and eventually his downfall. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of Robespierre s ideas included that virtue was necessary to reach goals. One must show
righteousness in order to accomplish what they came for, and he believed virtue, without which
terror is baneful, and terror, without which virtue is powerless (Corzine, p. 97). The idea of
virtue was used by Robespierre in order to justify the use of terror. It is only fair that it is
acceptable to use both virtue and terror because without either the revolution is not guaranteed
success (Halsall). Another justification for the Terror was that certain trials were open to the
public so citizens were encouraged to come and listen in. They were seen to be educational
towards the people of France, where they could learn about government, trials, and law ( The Reign
of Terror ). Maximilien Robespierre was looking out for the better of the revolution and what the
stakes were. Withy possible counter revolutionary revolts that could take place, he was trying to
avoid as many bumps in the road as possible. Terror was used in order to frighten the possible
enemies from causing any problems and

Education in America Essays
Education in America
Education in the United States is a very crucial part of a person s life. Going to school opens doors
and facilitates the pathway for future individual achievement and economic success. Formal
education is a conscious effort by human society to convey the skills and modes of thought
considered essential for social functioning.
According to the census 2000, the total number of people in school between nursery and high
school is approximately 57 million. Out of those 57 million, roughly 49 million are in public school.
In students 15 17 years old, 30.8 % are below the modal grade. Furthermore, between 10 through 12
graders the annual dropout rate is 4.7%. Continuing education to the college level is a very ... Show

Today, however, it seems as if the public has lost track of the importance of a great educational
system. The main issue today s public schools faces are funding problems. There is not enough
money allocated to support the growing needs of school across the nation.
Most of the other problems the schools face are directly related to the funding issue. Buildings
are run down and sometimes mobile because of the lack of finances. No child wants to go to
school in a dreary building that smells bad. It makes it hard to concentrate and hard to study in
buildings such as this. Every school has some type of sport being played by the students. For
some, sports are the only reason they do not drop out of school. However, if finances are not
available then the school should focus mostly on the education of all of its students as a whole,
not just a few who think they cannot make it without sports. Without the financial issues, schools
have even more problems. School violence is becoming more and more common. School should
be a place where children come to learn and be with their peers, in a very good environment. It
should not be a place where children are afraid to go because of the anger or hurt of other children.
This is probably the major issue of the public today.
No matter what the issue, schools have important issues that they have to work around and with

The Decade Known as The Great Depression
The decade known as the Great Depression was an era filled with both hardship and tribulation.
Historians continue to debate the root causes of the collapse of the stock market which led the
country into depression. Other deride the ineptitude of the Canadian government s response to the
crisis. At any rate, the Dirty Thirties was a period of time unlike any other. While those who
suffered through it are largely gone, the memory of those dark days remains to this day.
Firstly, there are many factors that contributed to making the Great Depression start. Over
production and expansion was a problem because almost every industry was expanding in the 1920

All the ranks on the social class had dropped. The poor became poorer than the poor. Finding
work was sporadic at best and it was impossible for men to pay for their homes which led to
people having to move into their cars, piano boxes and anything they could possibly find shelter
in. The Great Depression got farmers the worst as severe dust storms hit the prairies. Temperature
raised immensely in 1936 making wind storms hotter and drier, and with no rain there was no
crops. Western prairies became almost completely dependent on the export of wheat but grass
hoppers and plant diseases cause the last few crops destroyed. Farmers had to sell their farms as
debts raised because they couldn t afford their families as the drought prolonged. The school boards
had to decrease the number of teachers and increase the amount of students. Even marriage was
effected, while Canada experienced the Great Depression, many couples refrained from marrying
due to economic uncertainty and high unemployment. These causes of the Depression impacted the
everyday Canadian.
Moreover, the Canadian government took many measures to pull Canada out of the Depression
they tried, monthly relief rates, vouchers, governments money, relief camps, buying Canadian,
make work projects and tariffs. Monthly relief rates were when people would have to go to a
welfare office to prove that they were unemployed too get a certain amount of money

Is Space Exploration Worth The Cost Essay
Your world is as big as you make it . Georgia Douglas Johnson once said in her poem Your World
. Space exploration allows America to generate a great amount of money. If America continues
space exploration, new discoveries can be made. Greater wealth and new discoveries could and
will better America. This is why space explorationis worth the cost.
To start with, space exploration generates great wealth for America. Economic, scientific, and
technological returns of space have far exceeded the investment , said Dr. Joan Vernikos ( Is Space
Exploration Worth the Cost 29 31). Space exploration does cost quite a bit but, the benefits greatly
out number the cost. In 2007, NASA s budget of $16.3 billion is a minute fraction of the $13
trillion total G.D.P. , said Dr. Joan Vernikos. Space explorations budget is so limited, yet so much
comes out of it. So in other words, Space exploration is risky and does cost money but the benefits
are phenominiall. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

may be wanting to live forever, wanting to be rich. Each have different motives to make a deal

queen wants to live eternally and always be the fairest of them all by continuing to suck the
youth from the young. She has to do this every once in a while to stay the fairest . One day she
asks the mirror on the wall who the fairest of them all is and it replies saying that actually there is
another girl that is more fair then her. The mirror tells her if she also takes the girl s youth then she

The Political Of Political Socialization
The process of political socialization is vital in the developing of how one views politics, the way
they act or choose not to act, and how they identify within the political system. Although countless
influences sway or attract us to a given political view, party, or identification, there are undoubtedly
certain factors that play a bigger role in this process. Some of the most prominent agents of
political socialization are as follows; family, media, peers, education, religion, faith, race, gender,
age, geography, and socioeconomic status. We know these develop or determine our views of
politics but now we ll look at how and why they have such an impact.
Family is the first and most important agent of political socialization. Mothers and fathers, or
legal guardians, siblings and grandparents, as well as members of an extended family, all teach a
child what he or she needs to know in order to function successfully within society including the
political process. The family is a powerful influence because the structure of the family and the
child wanting to please his or her parents encourage conformity not only to the parents basic life
views and beliefs but also to their political values. In particular, children will often identify with the
parents political party while those who don t register usually support some of the views of the
party which their parents favored or have no interest in politics typically because their parents didn
t show interest in politics. I

Greek Civil War Research Paper
The Kingdom of Greece
Following the Second World War, Greece was plunged into decades of strife and political turmoil.
The Kingdom of Greece falls somewhere in the middle of the superpower confrontation during the
Cold War. Originally, Stalin and Churchill had agreed to let Britain run a non communist Greece,
yet the nation struggled between the Western and Eastern blocs and their respective superpowers
influence [1]. This struggle originates from the German and Italian occupation of the Kingdom of
Greece during the Second World War. During this occupation, many resistance groups of different
ideologies began to emerge. Following the war, while the Greek government was still taking refuge
in Egypt, the occupational government dissolved, leaving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

More people died in the Civil War than in the occupation of the Second World War [1].
Consequently, the nation became extremely polarized, and with the Kingdom s victory in the
Civil War, many Greeks sought refuge in communist countries. The Kingdom of Greece
experienced a coup d Г©tat in the following years, by a group of rightist and non communist
officials in 1977 [2]. The latter coup was led by George Papadopoulos, who installed a military
regime in the Kingdom of Greece. When this fell apart, a conservative government led by
Constantine Karamanlis dissolve the monarchy and legalize the KKE. Later, in 1981, the center left
government of the Panhellenic Socialist Movement allowed former DSE to return to Greece after
taking refuge in other communist nations [3].
Although Greece officially aligned itself with the United States and its Western Bloc allies, the
nation was tremendously split between the influences of the Soviet Union and the United States.
The lack of a stable government in the immediate aftermath of the war led to a brutal Civil War.
Furthermore, decades of political strife between the leftist and rightist wings of society led to an
increasingly unstable nation. Greece truly was caught between the two superpowers spheres of

Free the Children from Child Labour
Free The Children from Child Labour:
The Disadvantageous of Child Labour
Two hundred million children are suffering in the world! the world has an estimated 186 million
child labourers 5,7 million in forced and bonded labor, 1.8 million in prostitution, and 0.3 million
in armed conflict .( Basu amp; Tzannatos, 2003, p.147). In Africa, Asia and the Middle East, a huge
number of children are child labourers, and most of them under 14 years old. However, they are

Thus, child labour only can cause poor education to children, and can not give them any benefits.
Be abused People think work doesn t harm children, but the truth is children sometimes are
abused by their employers such as work as slaves and they may get sexual abuse. Children are
easy to exploit through manipulation and psychological control mechanisms. They fear of
violence and punishment. Also, they are inexperienced in life, so they only can trust adults.
Thus, children easily get abuse from employers and are controlled by adults. For instance, in the
coffee farm in Africa, a worker told a boy about a child who tried to escape, but failed. The child
was caught and badly beaten. This made the boy afraid and scared. Therefore, fear of punishment
make children keep working as slaves for employers. (Kielland amp; Tovo, 2006). Sexual abuse is
really common in African child labourers. It causes some serious problem to children such as HIV
/AIDS. Working children get sexual abuse more than non working children. For instance, according
to Kielland and Tovo. (2006). In their article, child labour in the commercial labormarket , girls

Theme Of Materialism In The Rocking Horse Winner
In D.H. Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner, many symbols are used throughout the story in
order to further develop the theme of materialism wreaking havoc on personal relationships, as well
as to draw attention to certain plot elements that contribute to the theme. The most obvious symbol
is the rocking horse. The rocking horse that the story centers around is multifaceted and calls
attention to many different things. From an emotional standpoint, it can be said that the rocking
horse represents Paul s intense craving for the loveof his mother. Paul s mother, Hester, is most
importantly characterized by her inability to love her children, feeling as if they had been thrust
upon her, and she could not love them. Hester, being a materialistic woman, is constantly
concerned with her family s financial standing, as well as her family s ability to furnish the
lavish lifestyle that she and her husband desire. The symbolism in Paul s rocking horse heavily
ties into her materialistic ways. The rocking horse itself, a Christmas gift to Paul, is an item that
shows them living beyond their means, as expensive and splendid toys filled the nursery. The way
in which Paul uses the rocking horse, to bring money to his mother through betting, shows the
detriments of materialism, as this frenzied riding leads to Paul s death. Though Paul s riding is
often assumed to merely be his attempt to forge a relationship with his mother, it can also be seen
as Paul exploring his sexuality, whether this be directed toward his mother or otherwise. Paul is
described as madly surging on the rocking horse among other descriptors, which can evoke sexual
imagery in the mind. Paul s rocking horse can be interpreted as a sexual symbolfor masturbation.
Paul s age puts him within the prime window to begin exploring his sexuality, something that is
often done through masturbation. The exploration of his sexuality could suggest the existence of
an oedipal complex between Paul and his mother, especially due to her evident sexual
dissatisfaction and lack of intimacy, as she married for love, and the love turned to dust. However,
it isn t ever explicitly made clear that this is the case. While Paul s rocking horse is a strong symbol

Analysis Of Martin Luther King Jr. s Letter From...
A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral law, or the law of God. An unjust law
is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. (3) In 1963 in this particular statement made
by Martin Luther King Jr. in his Letter from Birmingham Jail, he explained how man made (white
men) laws were created to persecute the black race, and how it is his duty to fight against such
laws. He was the one who articulated the progressive hope of many African Americans along with
other colored Americans to have civil rights. At that time, African Americans were battling against
racial segregation and discrimination and they fought it continually and solely until they achieve
the freedom they want. His main goal was to achieve justice and peace amongst colored people,
including white Americans. The civil rights movement in 1964 has led to remarkable forward
advances for individuals rights for African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics, and Asian
Americans. Today in this country, individual rights are highly valued and this was because of the
four racial groups who had fought and faced the different struggles for this movement. However,
African Americans suffered more than the other groups in terms of political, social, and economic
roles while making progress for the advancement of the civil rights movement. During the slave
trade era (1619 1863), millions of Africans were brought to the U.S. to be sold as slaves. The need

Essay about Racism in Family Guy Supports Stereotypes
In today s society, a minstrel show would unquestionably be pointed out as a racist act. However,
if stereotypes were used in comedic TV shows it becomes more uncertain as to whether or not it is
appropriate. With the popular use of satire in the current pop culture, the line between racism and
harmless satire is harder to define. Shows like Family Guyplay on a lot of racial stereotypes but do
not always receive attention on those jokes. The show is often written off as just a raunchy
animated show, so people expect the outrageous humor and take the jokes less seriously. Racist
jokes has been muddled with satire by putting it in a comical context and in a different medium

Ahsan Haque of IGN criticized that the episode was not an instant classic but still praised it for
its moments of creative genius (Haque). The episode received multiple reviews similar to this
one. This demonstrates how the offensive humor is often brushed aside. There were no
comments made about the portrayal of the Native Americans because of the fact that Family
Guy is presented as a comedic animated show; its irreverence is what attracts audiences. The
episode was not making a comment on a social issue. The satirization of Native Americans
served no other purpose than for being the punch line of every joke. This sort of humor is not as
upfront as something like blackface so it is not recognized immediately that it is offensive. Due
to the fact that it is a comedic animated show it is not taken as seriously. For a show with millions
of viewers making these sort of jokes makes it seem like it is acceptable to make fun of other races.
In doing so these stereotypes are going to persist in society.
The racist jokes that are often made in Family Guy obviously does not bother its viewers. Family
Guy has garnered such a huge fan base that when the character Brian was killed off it caused a
huge uproar on social media. An article written by Danielle Cox asked if the fans attachment to a

The flowmap denoted $phi_{t,t_{0}}in Diff(R^{N})$ where $Diff(R^{N})$ denotes the group of
diffeomorphisms of $R^{N}$ is defined as a map that takes the initial solution, that is the solution
at $t_{0}$ to the solution at any time $t$, this can be expressed mathematically by
egin{center}
$phi_{t,t_{0}}: Y_{t_{0}}longmapsto Y_{t}$ end{center} That is to say, given any initial data
$Y_{0}in R^{N}$, the solution $ Y_{t}$ at any later time can be easily specified. This can be
done by applying the action of the flowmap to the initial data $Y_{0}$ in order to
$Y_{t}=phi_{t,t_{0}} circ Y_{t_{0}}$.
Consider a function $fin Diff(R^{N})$, by using the chain rule, we obtain
$ frac{d}{dt}(f(Y))=V(Y).partial_{Y} f(Y)$
This means that action of the vector fields on $Diff(R^{N})$ is as first order partial differential
operators since $V(Y).partial_{Y} f(Y)$ is considered as first order partial differential operators.
vspace{0.5cm}
The evolution of $fcircphi_{t}$ is given by
egin{center}
$ frac{d}{dt}(fcircphi_{t})=Vcirc fcircphi_{t}$ end{center} The above equation is an autonomous
linear functional differential equation for $fcircphi_{t}$. Such equation has a solution
$fcircphi_{t}=exp(tV)circ fcircphi_{t}$ as $phi_{0}=id$
Setting $f=id$ provides the representation of the flowmap as follows
egin{center}
$phi_{t}=exp(tV)$ end{center} Hence, in this considered case, the flowmap is the exponential of
the vector field. By compositing the above equation

Essay on Buddhist Meditation
Meditation is very difficult to describe and can only truly be explained once experienced. It is the
practice of mental concentration leading ultimately through a sequence of stages to the final goal of
spiritual freedom, nirvana. The purpose of Buddhist meditation is to free ourselves from the
delusion and thereby put an end to both ignorance and craving. The Buddhists describe the
culminating trance like state as transient; final Nirvana requires the insight of wisdom. The
exercises that are meant to develop wisdom involve meditation on the true nature of reality or the
conditioned and unconditioned elements that make up all phenomena. The goal of meditation is to
develop a concept in the mind.

Meditation helps Buddhists to understand that the Buddha should be treated as their example, and
the attachment on things and how to cope with the feelings of unselfishness and desiring. It helps
Buddhists to develop genuine emotions, rejoice in the happiness of others, and do everything they
can to free others from suffering. It can help you become a more loving person in daily life.
br
br Meditating on love creates loving feelings to beings; meditating on loving kindness is to
embrace the whole universe with love and help you become a more loving person. Meditating on
compassion helps wish to free beings from suffering and doing everything you can to help them.
Meditating on sympathetic joy is rejoicing in the happiness of others, developing a genuine
gladness. Meditating on even mindedness develops an even love for all beings and controlling
one s emotions, having a clear and genuine goodwill to all. It helps focus on others and detach
from the world, which is key to attain Nibbana. Meditation is also important as in the mental
training of our mind to reach the real goal.
br
br In addition, meditation helps one understand various concepts of Buddhism. For instance,
meditating on impermanence, such as decomposing bodies, helps dislodge attachment of worldly
pleasures and show how everything is impermanent. The two types, Vipassana and Samatha , both
teach the Buddhist how they should behave and in what state of mind.

Similarities Between Don Quixote And Sancho Panza
The relationship between Don Quixote and Sancho Panza have various interesting points of
similarity and differences between the two main characters in the story of The Epic of Gilgamesh.
When analyzing both stories, one may see how the relationship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu
compares to the relationship between Don Quixoteand Sancho Panza. The Epic of Gilgameshis an
epic poem from ancient Mesopotamia, and is often regarded as one of the earliest texts of
literature. However, the main characters in the poem are both Gilgamesh and Enkidu. In Don
Quixote, Sancho Panza and Alonso Quijano (Don Quixote) have a similar bond. The relationship
between Don Quixote and Sancho Panza have various interesting points of similarity and contrast
with The Epic of Gilgamesh. How do the characters from Don Quixote contrast from the two main
characters in The Epic of Gilgamesh? Don Quixote is a middle aged man from the region of La
Macha in Spain. In addition, he began to be obsessed with the chivalrous ideas that appeared in the
books he read. Throughout his adventures his trusting sidekick, Sancho Panza, accompanies him on
his journeys. Sancho Panza first began to be the neighbor of Alonso, and throughout time Sancho
began to be his personal attendant. At first Sancho is quite timid, or bashful. Sancho Panza was
known to be Don Quixote s correct lens for what the world considered Quixote s distorted vision.

Jacksonian Democrats Dbq Analysis
The Constitution has had many people who were guardians and people who were not throughout
the history of the United States. Reforms and major events under the administration of Jackson
were huge turning points in history. Women were starting to have a voice, property qualifications
died off, and the nullification crisis are examples. Although these reforms make it seem Jacksonian
democrats were guardians, Jacksonian democrats were not guardians of the United States
Constitution, political democracy, individual liberty, and the equality of economic opportunity.
With the dissipating property qualifications, Jackson did little to help others who needed rights
for which the Constitution was created. We hold these truths self evident that all men are created
equal (Doc. A). Yes, it does say all men, but Jackson did nothing to help men who needed it the
most. He did not help men such as blacks and native americans and did nothing about women s
rights. During his presidency, women were petitioning for rights and jobs besides factory workers,
stay at home mothers, and school teachers and yet he did nothing about it. Also, he did not help
workers who wanted labor unions. Instead, he stated that the employer has full control over them

the way of how I live and what happens to my life. Changes happen as you grow up, and there
are many factors that induce changes, whether it is from daily habits, social interactions,
influence from parents, and many more. In my case, I have probably changed the most due to
social influence and the environment around me. One of my most noticeable changes I the way I

The Rise Of Consumerism During World War II
In today s times, Americans are never too far from a drive through fast food restaurant or a
shopping mall. Products such as televisions, microwaves, and cars are necessities in homes in 2014.
America was not always the consumerist nation it is now. With thousands of American servicemen
returning home after World War II, the United Stateswas filled with an energy that had long been
repressed by an economic depression in the 1930 s. By the 1950 s, Americans were ready to move
on from the war and start families. Thousands of jobs were created to accommodate all those
retuning home, which caused the United States economy to flourish. Since more people were
working and receiving higher wages, they were eager to start spending. Because of this,
consumerismskyrocketed in the 1950 s. Along with positive post war attitudes, suburbanization and
the development of new products can also be attributed to the rise of consumerism during this
period.
As many American men fought in World War II, the United States economy had slowly started to
pick itself up after a devastating crash in 1929 that lasted over a decade. Most men were drafted
into the war, which left many jobs open back in the States. To fill these jobs women and African
Americans were recruited to fill them, thus making unemployment nearly nonexistent during this
period. After World War II had ended, Americans came home with a determination to keep the
recovery going. A key way to achieve this was to spend money.

1) According to Jared Diamond, the factor that allowed Europeans to develop the forces necessary
to conquer vast portions of the world was the geography of the land Europeans lived on.
2) The Europeans who settled in the South African cape were very successful. One reason this
happened was because the African cape and Europe sit at a similar distance from the equator. This
means the climate of the two areas were similar, allowing for crops and domesticated animals from
Europe to survive in the South African cape. Another reason the Europeans were successful was
because of germs. The Africans did not have the same immunity as the Europeans to diseases that

Choosing a child care provider is a difficult question for many consumers. In surveying a group

What Does The Cat In The Sky Mean
In THE GOLDEN CAT, Gabriel King continues the enchanting quest that began with The Wild
Road the novel the San Francisco Chronicle crowned mythical, and Richard Adams, author of
Watership Down, deemed absolutely magical. . .
The ancient prophecy speaks of a golden cat whose coming will heal the troubled world. But the
Queen of Cats has three golden kittens and when two are stolen away, the distraught parents turn to
Tag, the brave young cat who is the protector of the magical Wild Road.
The desperate search moves from the water lit Oceanarium and sun dappled Tintagel to the distant
Louisiana bayous and the pyramids of Egypt. As Tag and his friends struggle on, so does a
terrifying, unearthly force a preternatural vortex threatening the Wild Road, tearing at the very
fabric of existence. But Tag is disastrously unprepared for the powerful darkness that threatens to

Essay Is Thucydides a Realist
The human condition and its significance to International Relations have been in debate for
centuries. Classical Realist thought has focused on the inherently aggressive and selfish nature of
man and assumed that it is these qualities that ensure war and conflict are inevitable aspects of
human society. Alternatively, neo realismemphasises the system structure of international politics.
R.J. McShea discusses the significance of the human nature tradition throughout the study of
international relations. The endeavour to rid the world of the evil of war and the advancement of
the conditions for peace have been developed from the assumption that the interaction of the states,

I will include a discussion on man s desire for glory, divine favour and immortality, and its relevance
to modern international relations theory. Finally, I will conclude that, although the History
discusses many realist assumptions and politics, Thucydides himself was not a realist. It is my
theory that Thucydides intended his History to be the prescription for man to drag himself from the
miserable condition of war. The History is a model of idealist ideology encompassing the three
components: description, prescription and objective.
I
Thucydides intended his History as a source for all time, a general insight into conflicts that answer
future questions on all conflict because events which happen in the past and which (human nature
being what it is) will, at some time or other and in much the same ways, be repeated in the future.
Thucydides opened with the claim that, as many wish to consider, clearly, both the things that have
happened and the things that will happen in the same or similar way, in accordance with that which
is human, will consider his work on the Peloponnesian war as a valuable possession for all time.
Human nature, according to Thucydides, is the same wherever it is to be found and it explains and
justifies human conduct. It is an appeal to human nature that is invoked throughout many of the
debates in the History, in order to justify Athenian imperialism on the grounds of expediency,
ambition, security and man s

The Wide Spread Problem Of Graffiti Culture
Graffiti art is a world wide spread problem, it does not just occur in one part of the world. As
stated, Professor Snyder, 40, argues that while graffiti culture emerged around the same time as
hip hop, in the early 1970s, graffiti in fact comes from a variety of cultural sources (Chan, 2009,
p.1). For a fact, it is not a specific type of person doing it either, these petty crimes. It could be
anyone around you: Whatever their class, race, ethnicity religion, or age, writers define themselves
not by what they look like, or what language they speak, or what clothes they wear, but by what
they do. Their identities are as writers first, and as members of ethnic, religious, and other
subgroups second (Chan, 2009, P.1).

[t]he sociality of shared peer activity is another important reason why writers are attracted to graffiti
culture ( Halsey Young, 2006, p.4). Academic writing on graffiti has approached it in a number
of ways, encompassing its analysis as sociological subculture, as juvenile delinquency, as a
historical phenomenon and as a regulatory problem (Halsey Young, 2006, p.2). There is said that
many young adults like to do graffiti art because it causes a rush through there body they get. A
reaction that feels good enough for them to express themselves over graffiti. A theory was
shared, [b]roken windows theory, which holds that low level and petty crimes, if not addressed,
create an atmosphere conductive to more serious and violent crimes (Chan, 2009, p.2). Many
believe if they do not stop crimes young or discipline kids at a young age it cause more violent
people in the future. Graffiti is not just a crime in many ways it is more than people see it as just

The Pros And Cons Of Human Genetic Engineering
With the advent of Darwin s theory of evolution came curiosity; What would the next stage of
human evolution look like? Then came the discovery of genes, and mankind s curiosity was
piqued; What if we could alter our genes to our liking? However, now that we are finally on the
verge of cracking the genetic code, we must ask ourselves; Should we use this technology? This
single question has fueled a fiery debate among a variety of groups in modern times, but where
does the heart of the debate lie? One could argue that there is an issue of fact, as we don t know all
the potential applications humangenetic engineering (henceforth called HGE) could have, but many
uses of the technology have already been identified. Therefore, the heart of the debate lies in the
quality of these applications and whether we should allow the research of HGE to continue.
But who are the interested parties in this debate? While this is an issue that affects our entire
species, there are a few groups who hold certain values and beliefs that have an impact on their
opinion of HGE. A major group involved in HGE discussion are the geneticists themselves, who
generally seek to defend their work. One such geneticist is Dr. George Church, a professor at

This drive for her to feel like an American was drove from money. This ultimately put her on the
street after her landlord saw the good work that she did. Money the landlord knew he could
charge extra because the apartment was now in much better shape. In The Gilded Six Bits Joe,
sees himself in a similar situation which involved money. Joe had met a man by the name of
Otis D. Slemmons who had opened up an ice cream parlor down the street. Joe was quite
impressed of the heavy set man with hit gold teeth. Joe was talking about the man s big gut in
quote: All rich mens is got some belly on em. (Hurston 1521). Joe wanted the dream so bad that
he even wanted a gut because all rich men had them. This shows how money influences people
to do whatever they can to make themselves higher in society. The American dream is all about
money, money is opportunity and money is accomplishment. Joe was also later devastated by
this monster of a dream, when he caught Otis in bed with his wife. Is this what the dream is
about tearing down everything you worked hard for all your life? Did Hanneh really dream of
being thrown into the street? Did Joe really dream of a big fat rich man sleeping with his wife? In
the end the power that both drove these people to realize what the American dream is was money.
They both wanted money and they both dreamed of money, and in the end it got the best of Hanneh

Why Did Tsar Nicholas II Survive The 1905 Revolution
Tsar Nicholas II and 1905 Revolution
The Tsar (Nicholas II) survived the 1905 revolution. However, the revolution in 1917 did remove
him from power. When asking why Nicholas II survived 1905 there are numerous factors to
examine. Both revolutions had extremely similar conditions. Levels of dissatisfaction, strikes and
the country moving towards a wartime economy are all examples. It is also important to see small
differences which gave the two events such contrasting outcomes and determined the survival and
the fall of the Tsar.
In February 1904 war broke out between Russia and Japan over a town called Manchuria situated in
Northern China. After suffering a humiliating defeat in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They are cheating thee concerning the real state of affairs. The people believe in thee.
Following this act the city started going on strike, the Tsar tried to reason with the workers by
saying he would establish an elected assembly to assist the government in their decisions. The
strikes continued until Nicholas was forced to act. The people realised, after being fired upon, that
their faith in the Tsar was ill founded.
The same conditions did not exist in 1917. The people were under no illusion as to how the Tsar
felt about them. During the February Revolution, strikers carried slogans such as Down with the
autocracy written on them. With no support from the masses, Nicholas II had lost a key ally in his
battle to remain in power.
On the 30th of October he issued the October Manifesto , this proved enough to satisfy many,
especially the middle class who withdrew their support for the strike leading to its collapse. The
apparent release of some of his total power proved to be crucial to the Tsar s survival, as the
people would not have rested had there been concessions. The October Manifesto promised the
following:
1) Guaranteed freedom of speech
2) Freedom from arrest without due cause
3) An elected Duma (parliament) with power to make laws
4) Legal political parties were allowed
Though the promised elections did take place, the

QUESTION 2
Compare the market structures of perfect competition and monopolistic competition.
What are the main differences?
Monopolistic competition differs from perfect competition in the fact that production does not take
place at the lowest possible cost. Because of this, firms are left with excess production capacity.
Monopolistic competition is a type of competition within an industry where all firms produce
similar substitutable products, all firms are able to enter the industry, all firms are profit
maximizers and finally where all firms have some market power, which means none of them are
price takers. Whereas perfect competition is a market structure where all the firms have to follow
those five criteria: sell identical products, be price takers, have small market share, buyers have full
knowledge, freedom of entry and exit.
Choose an industry with various producers. Draw a positioning map for these companies and
explain how they differentiate their products.
I choose the chocolate industry because it is an industry where they a lot of different brands and

Alcohol And Its Effects On Alcohol
Abstract
Alcohol has long been a subject of controversy. Long before man understood the indications and
contraindications of alcohol there has been laws against this drug. Classifying alcohol as a drug
may not be suited for a majority of the population because people like to partake in drinking.
Imbibing in alcohol is a tradition in many parts of the country. We use alcohol for celebrations,
traditions, socialization and combining food flavors with specific alcohols. Forgetting that too
much can lead to many issues and problems like alcoholism, liver disease and contraindications with
other medications. Alcohol was extremely detrimental to the native Americans of this land.
Keywords: alcohol, tradition, addiction, indications, contraindications, liver disease, native
Americans.
Alcohol Abuse and its Indications
Alcohol has been around for many centuries, involving tradition, religion, and social gatherings.
For many using alcohol is not a problem because they fall into the categories listed above. In
some churches, the use of wine is used to represent the blood of Christ, although many have
turned to grape juice now. Others use alcohol as a custom for watching football or perhaps
traditionally within some cultures like the Irish, who drink daily for continued health. And lastly,
social gatherings are also an excuse to drink up and celebrate any event in one s life. What most
people fail to realize is that drinking can lead to health issues and dependence.

International Trade Is An Effective Stimulation Of...
Engaging in international trade is an effective stimulation of economic growth. David Ricardo s
principle of comparative advantage argues while nations involved in international trade, a country
will become specialised in producing a product that has the lowest relative costs. (Economist, 2015)
By focusing on the production onto a limited scope of product or industries, firms or the nation will
experience rise in productivity due to higher efficiency in allocation and utilisation of resources. As
the process of specialisation will cause reallocation of other less efficient resources, nations, as a
result, will import products that are less efficiently produced from other countries. While different
nations specialising in different goods and services, a greater variety and cheaper products will
become available for consumption, improving the quality and quantity of consumption by all
nations. To determine whether developing nations are experiencing disadvantage in the
international trade, it requires a careful examination with Porter s Diamond factor endowments. It
analysis a nation s competitiveness under four categories: factor endowments, demand condition,
related and supporting industries and firm strategy, structure and rivalry.
Factor endowments meaning the availability of resources and skills, which can further categorise
into basic and advanced factor. To fully utilise the potentials within a nation (Basic factor), it
requires policy set by different parties such

Music Compare and Contrast
Since the beginning of time, many bands and artists have helped shape the way people live.
Thirty Seconds to Mars, with lead singer Jared Leto, is a very successful pop rock band. Starting
in 1998, the members of this band did not have it easy. Neither did Ludwig van Beethoven who
grew to be one of the most successful composers of all time. Taking in the world and challenges
around them, both of these artists overcame many obstacles to become what they are known for.
Their fans have followed and have been inspired by them. The band Thirty Seconds to Mars and
Ludwig van Beethovencame from two different eras and have rough times in their youth but

When Mozart saw him perform he exclaimed, Keep your eyes on him; some day he will give the
world something to talk about. This great artist was right, but shortly after coming to Vienna,
Beethoven rushed back home for his mother fell ill. She died a few months later which sent her
son into depression. The depression however, did not last and Beethoven continued carrying on
as a young musician. In 1790, Beethoven, just 19 years old, received a remarkable honor of
composing a musical memorial for the death of the Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II. With no
reasons known, this piece was never played. However, more than a century later, Johannes
Brahms discovered that Beethoven had in fact composed a beautiful and noble piece of music
entitled Cantata on the Death of Emperor Joseph II. It is now considered his earliest
masterpiece ( Biography ). Just under two decades old, this man was pronouncing himself in the
world. As Mozart said before, he was giving the world amazing music to talk about. It took the
band Thirty Seconds to Mars and lead singer, Jared Leto a little longer to give the modern day
world music to talk about. The band took a year to find a studio to support them. In 1998, the
band signed a contract with Immortal and Virgin. Their first album was set to be released in 2002,
but before that the band, Puddle of Mud, asked for them to join their six week tour around the
country in the spring. Thirty Seconds

  • 2. The Jacksonian Democratic Party And The Whig Party The Jacksonian Democratic Party and the Whig Party each, exemplified different beliefs on the role of the federal government in the economy and towards westward expansion in the 1830s and 1840s. However, the Jacksonian, laissez faire supporting Democrats and the economic nationalistic Whig party shared almost no beliefs except for the removal of American Indians in the areas their supporters wished to settle. The lack of similarities is because the Whigs formed their own party to oppose President Jackson s strong armed leadership style and policies which earned him the nickname King Andrew. The Jacksonian Democratic Partyevolved out of the Democratic Republican Party in the early 1800s, the core of its membership was composed of farmers, immigrants, and white Southerners. The Whigs formed in 1834 and lasted for 20 years, they were the major political party that opposed Andrew Jackson. The Whigs were created based upon the Federalist beliefs in a strong federal government and adopted many Federalist and National Republican policy ideas, including federal funding for internal improvements, a central bank, and high tariffs to protect the growth of manufacturing enterprises. Overall, the Jacksonian Democratic agrarian Party and the industrialization supporting Whig Party had different beliefs toward the role of the federal government in the economy and towards westward expansion. How Did Robespierre Justify The French Revolution Kate Connolly Mrs. Collesano AP Global Period 1 12/3/2017 Maximilien Robespierre played a significant role in the French Revolution that changed the course of the restructuring of France. He was a leading political figure that gained more power and influence throughout the events leading to the development of the revolution. The events that led to his domination were history altering events for the history of France. Robespierre s goal was to rid France of anyone who seemed like a threat to him by using terror and death. He had many points that were used to justify why exactly the Terror was used to help the revolution. One of Robespierre s ideas included that virtue was necessary to reach goals. One must show righteousness in order to accomplish what they came for, and he believed virtue, without which terror is baneful, and terror, without which virtue is powerless (Corzine, p. 97). The idea of virtue was used by Robespierre in order to justify the use of terror. It is only fair that it is acceptable to use both virtue and terror because without either the revolution is not guaranteed success (Halsall). Another justification for the Terror was that certain trials were open to the public so citizens were encouraged to come and listen in. They were seen to be educational towards the people of France, where they could learn about government, trials, and law ( The Reign of Terror ). Maximilien Robespierre was looking out for the better of the revolution and what the stakes were. The main issue today s public schools faces are funding problems. There is not enough money allocated to support the growing needs of school across the nation. Most of the other problems the schools face are directly related to the funding issue. Buildings are run down and sometimes mobile because of the lack of finances. No child wants to go to school in a dreary building that smells bad. It makes it hard to concentrate and hard to study in buildings such as this. Every school has some type of sport being played by the students. For some, sports are the only reason they do not drop out of school. However, if finances are not available then the school should focus mostly on the education of all of its students as a whole, not just a few who think they cannot make it without sports. Without the financial issues, schools have even more problems. School violence is becoming more and more common. School should be a place where children come to learn and be with their peers, in a very good environment. • 12. The Political Of Political Socialization The process of political socialization is vital in the developing of how one views politics, the way they act or choose not to act, and how they identify within the political system. Although countless influences sway or attract us to a given political view, party, or identification, there are undoubtedly certain factors that play a bigger role in this process. Some of the most prominent agents of political socialization are as follows; family, media, peers, education, religion, faith, race, gender, age, geography, and socioeconomic status. We know these develop or determine our views of politics but now we ll look at how and why they have such an impact. Family is the first and most important agent of political socialization. Mothers and fathers, or legal guardians, siblings and grandparents, as well as members of an extended family, all teach a child what he or she needs to know in order to function successfully within society including the political process. The family is a powerful influence because the structure of the family and the child wanting to please his or her parents encourage conformity not only to the parents basic life views and beliefs but also to their political values. In particular, children will often identify with the parents political party while those who don t register usually support some of the views of the party which their parents favored or have no interest in politics typically because their parents didn t show interest in politics. • 16. Theme Of Materialism In The Rocking Horse Winner In D.H. Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner, many symbols are used throughout the story in order to further develop the theme of materialism wreaking havoc on personal relationships, as well as to draw attention to certain plot elements that contribute to the theme. The most obvious symbol is the rocking horse. The rocking horse that the story centers around is multifaceted and calls attention to many different things. From an emotional standpoint, it can be said that the rocking horse represents Paul s intense craving for the loveof his mother. Paul s mother, Hester, is most importantly characterized by her inability to love her children, feeling as if they had been thrust upon her, and she could not love them. Hester, being a materialistic woman, is constantly concerned with her family s financial standing, as well as her family s ability to furnish the lavish lifestyle that she and her husband desire. The symbolism in Paul s rocking horse heavily ties into her materialistic ways. The rocking horse itself, a Christmas gift to Paul, is an item that shows them living beyond their means, as expensive and splendid toys filled the nursery. The way in which Paul uses the rocking horse, to bring money to his mother through betting, shows the detriments of materialism, as this frenzied riding leads to Paul s death. Though Paul s riding is often assumed to merely be his attempt to forge a relationship with his mother, it can also be seen as Paul exploring his sexuality, whether this be directed toward his mother or otherwise. Paul is described as madly surging on the rocking horse among other descriptors, which can evoke sexual imagery in the mind. Paul s rocking horse can be interpreted as a sexual symbolfor masturbation. Paul s age puts him within the prime window to begin exploring his sexuality, something that is often done through masturbation. The exploration of his sexuality could suggest the existence of an oedipal complex between Paul and his mother, especially due to her evident sexual dissatisfaction and lack of intimacy, as she married for love, and the love turned to dust. However, it isn t ever explicitly made clear that this is the case. While Paul s rocking horse is a strong symbol ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. He was the one who articulated the progressive hope of many African Americans along with other colored Americans to have civil rights. At that time, African Americans were battling against racial segregation and discrimination and they fought it continually and solely until they achieve the freedom they want. His main goal was to achieve justice and peace amongst colored people, including white Americans. The civil rights movement in 1964 has led to remarkable forward advances for individuals rights for African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics, and Asian Americans. Today in this country, individual rights are highly valued and this was because of the four racial groups who had fought and faced the different struggles for this movement. However, African Americans suffered more than the other groups in terms of political, social, and economic roles while making progress for the advancement of the civil rights movement. With thousands of American servicemen returning home after World War II, the United Stateswas filled with an energy that had long been repressed by an economic depression in the 1930 s. By the 1950 s, Americans were ready to move on from the war and start families. Alternatively, neo realismemphasises the system structure of international politics. R.J. Finally, I will conclude that, although the History discusses many realist assumptions and politics, Thucydides himself was not a realist. It is my theory that Thucydides intended his History to be the prescription for man to drag himself from the miserable condition of war. The History is a model of idealist ideology encompassing the three components: description, prescription and objective. I Thucydides intended his History as a source for all time, a general insight into conflicts that answer future questions on all conflict because events which happen in the past and which (human nature being what it is) will, at some time or other and in much the same ways, be repeated in the future. Thucydides opened with the claim that, as many wish to consider, clearly, both the things that have happened and the things that will happen in the same or similar way, in accordance with that which is human, will consider his work on the Peloponnesian war as a valuable possession for all time. Human nature, according to Thucydides, is the same wherever it is to be found and it explains and justifies human conduct. What are the main differences? Monopolistic competition differs from perfect competition in the fact that production does not take place at the lowest possible cost. Because of this, firms are left with excess production capacity. Monopolistic competition is a type of competition within an industry where all firms produce similar substitutable products, all firms are able to enter the industry, all firms are profit maximizers and finally where all firms have some market power, which means none of them are price takers. Whereas perfect competition is a market structure where all the firms have to follow those five criteria: sell identical products, be price takers, have small market share, buyers have full knowledge, freedom of entry and exit. Choose an industry with various producers. Draw a positioning map for these companies and explain how they differentiate their products.

  • 49. International Trade Is An Effective Stimulation Of... Engaging in international trade is an effective stimulation of economic growth. David Ricardo s principle of comparative advantage argues while nations involved in international trade, a country will become specialised in producing a product that has the lowest relative costs. (Economist, 2015) By focusing on the production onto a limited scope of product or industries, firms or the nation will experience rise in productivity due to higher efficiency in allocation and utilisation of resources. As the process of specialisation will cause reallocation of other less efficient resources, nations, as a result, will import products that are less efficiently produced from other countries. While different nations specialising in different goods and services, a greater variety and cheaper products will become available for consumption, improving the quality and quantity of consumption by all nations. To determine whether developing nations are experiencing disadvantage in the international trade, it requires a careful examination with Porter s Diamond factor endowments. It analysis a nation s competitiveness under four categories: factor endowments, demand condition, related and supporting industries and firm strategy, structure and rivalry. Factor endowments meaning the availability of resources and skills, which can further categorise into basic and advanced factor. To fully utilise the potentials within a nation (Basic factor), it requires policy set by different parties such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
