Essay on My GatherfatherВґs History and Key Events in...
My grandfather turned 100 years old in 1875. On the night of his birthday he pulled me aside
and told me about his life; and significant moments in history which he found worth telling. He
was born in Pennsylvania in 1775, on the eve of the American Revolution . His father was from
Britain and his mother was from Ireland. They both came to the colonies because they saw
opportunities here. Their form of transportation was by boat. When they arrived they had no
money and had to become indentured slaves. They ended up working together, his mother said it
was love at first sight, and when his father had the chance to pick who his woman would be, when
he finished his contract with the owner, he chose her. They moved to a cottage and had a... Show

He also believed that the reason Britain wanted the colonies to be under their power was so that
Britain could make money off of the colonies by taxing them. Not too long before my
grandfather was born, patriots force[d] merchants to sign agreements prohibiting the importation
of British goods , if they refused they were probably tarred and feathered as punishment, (Hollitz
72). (This helped explain why he saw buckets of tar and bags of feathers here and there.) They
did this because of the Townshend Act, which were taxes put on a few British goods that were
imported. The colonies now had almost all the goods they needed and didn t need to rely on the
British anymore, further proving their independence. A few months before he was born, people
from the colonies saw their independence approaching and thought it was time to start drafting a
new framework for a national government (Hollitz 79). John Adams was a member of the Second
Continental Congress , which meant that he participated in drafting the Articles of Confederation
(Hollitz 79). So Abigail Adams (his wife) wrote to him about including women rights in the
Confederation. Even though she took this seriously, he didn t and saw it as a good sense of humor.
This was important to my grandfather, because it was important to his mother. He believed that
even though women aren t capable of doing of the same duties as men (such as hard labor), they do
have other things they could

The Interaction between the American and the Samoan...
Describe the interaction between the two leadership groups. What behaviors of the American
representatives could create conflict with the Samoan leaders? Are there similarities from this
meeting and the Blue Horizon Cruise simulation meeting?
At this tense meeting with considerable distrust and suspicion evident in the faces, speeches and
body language of the Samoan chiefs, the High Chief expressed considerable skepticism about
American plans for the island, such as providing more education in English, teaching the young
marketable skills, and developing the country. Being educated at the University of Hawaii, the
High Chief would have had very good reason to be suspicious of the intentions of the United States,
even when its representatives expressed their goodwill toward the Native peoples and desire to
bring progress; and modernization. He would have learned about the wars against the Native
Americans from the 17th to the 19th Centuries, for example, the annexation of Hawaii in 1898,
and the Philippines War of 1899 1902, if indeed he had not known all about these before.
American Samoa was annexed only nine years before Guam, the Philippines and Hawaii, when the
U.S. was in a particularly expansionist and imperial stage. At no time were the peoples of these
consulted about whether they wished to be annexed to the United States, although American policy
did grant them a large measure of autonomy and home rule. In addition the High Chief would have

Prescription Pharmaceutical Industry Analysis
Prescription drug prices are increasing and it is becoming much more difficult for people that
rely on healthcare to purchase them. Branded prescription drugs, specialty prescription drugs,
and even generic products like ibuprofen have been inflating in the last 7 years. There are a
number of reasons to attribute to the said inflation over the last 7 years. Newly approved branded
and specialty prescription drugs and the rising costs of existing branded and specialty prescription
drugs. Brand and specialty prescription drugs are having to sell at higher prices because of existing
prescription drugs that cost high amounts. Brand name prescription drugs rose 12.6% in 2013 and
specialty prescription drugs rose 10.6%. These percentages in monetary... Show more content on

In contrast to the newer prescription drugs, already existing prescription drugs cumulatively
increased 81% from 2005 to 2013. Of these prescription drugs, the ones that treat chronic
conditions have had a price increase of $4,336 in 2006 to $11,870 in 2013. These high price
points on drugs that have been on the market for several years are a significant factor in the
accelerating prescription drug inflammation. An example of rise in existing prescription drugs is
Jazz Pharmaceuticals Xyrem, a drug which purpose is to treat narcolepsy, was in 2007 priced at
$2.04 per 1 milliliter dose. In 2014, Jazz Pharmaceuticals Xyrem was priced at $19.40 per 1
milliliter dose. This means that there was 841% price increase over the course of seven years on
the same exact drug. Jazz Pharmaceuticals is not the only company increasing its prescription
drugs in such high amounts. Eli LIlly had a price increase of 350% over the course of 6 years
from 2007 to 2013, and Mylan hiked its epipen cost that treats anaphylaxis by 220% in the same
six years. Companies say these costs are higher due to a number of reasons. One being that the
high costs of these prescription drugs are being used to help find more efficient cures to disease,
saving money in the long run. Another being that everything in our economy is inflating so it is
only natural that prescription drugs increase as well.

Comparison of How Spain, France, Britian, and America...
In this essay, I will compare and contrast how Spain, France, England, and America viewed and
interacted with Native peoples differently as they colonized North America. It is reported that
roughly three hundred and fifty thousand Native Americans called the area known today as
Florida home, when Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon landed his fleet of ships on the coast in the
early 1500 s. As we have discussed and learned when the Native people were colonized by
outsiders it was not a great day. The Natives of Florida were not immune; war, slavery, disease,
and extremely low child birth rates took a devastating toll on the Florida tribes. A charter
penned by Ponce de Leon, known as the encomienda, granted Spain the ability to enslave the
Natives of Florida. Forcing them to work in the crop fields and essentially making them the
major labor force; constructing and designing the buildings occupied by the Spanish. The
oppression did not end there. Around the middle of the 16th century the Native people were
declared to be free, but only on paper. The Spanish royals felt that the Natives needed to educated
in the ways of Catholicism, and those that did not want to conform could be punished up to and
including death. Life was not easy for the Spaniards who tried to live in Florida. It was in fact,
very difficult; and they had no time to convert any of the Native people to Catholicism. However,
once they did get settled and started to become acclimatized to Florida s environment they

My Interest On Computer Science Essay
Google Essay What sparked your interest in computer science? How did this lead you to major
in computer science and what do you hope to accomplish with your degree? In your answer,
please describe how your experiences have influenced the goals you have for yourself. Every
human has a purpose and every purpose has an ordained path and beginning. My interest in
computer science came to light as soon as I began to walk, talk and think independently. I
always had the innate passion and desire to scrutinize electronic devices even though I was still
a child with little understanding. Being a little kid, my access to computers were constrained,
but nonetheless, I made the best out of every opportunity I had with them. Time flew by like a
dove as I suddenly began to grow in wisdom, and also began to understand what life is all about.
Immediately I graduated from high school, I applied for a 3 month full time computer training
before making any preparation for college. Unbeknownst to me, I was actually on a direct path to
discovering my true potential in computer science and engineering. Financially and physically, it
was a burden commuting from my home down to the computer training center, but the intrinsic
passion and desire to get my hands on electronic devices and to learn more about how computers
really work made me overlook the struggle. I did not think twice while applying for Computer
Engineering in the university, as I already had a clear glimpse of my future

Merit pay is a term describing performance related pay. Its primary focus is used for helping
teachers improve their performance by learning from each other. Merit Pay can take the form of
a bonus or a permanent teacher salary increased. This motivates many teachers because they
believe they are being evaluated more fairly than traditional evaluation. Merit pay is important
to study because it s a one of the most controversial issue in the field of education and it does
have an effect on school finance in the future. We should be concerned about using merit pay in
our school system because most professions offer bonuses and salary increases for their
exemplary employees why should the education profession be any different? Shouldn t we try
and use incentives as we do with our students to motivate teachers to give their very best in
educating our future leaders of tomorrow. Merit pay will recruit and retain some of the nation s
brightest mind. Many people who have the capability to teach our students refused to do so due to
teacher pay but with merit pay many of these individuals may consider working in the education
profession. Relation to the Problem to the Specialization Merit Pay is a topic of investigation
because even though it rewards great teachers many lawmakers, educators, and teacher s union are
opposed to it.

What Is Jane Austen Definition Of Nobility
There are many definitions of noble, from a gold coin to something of magnificent size. There are
two definitions that are particularly similar in the ways people view each other. The first is a
hereditary class of high social status and the second is showing fine personal qualities. In Jane
Austen s Pride and Prejudice, Austen believes that nobilityshould be defined through the latter
definition. Jane Austenbelieves that social rank should be determined by one s nobility, meaning
their personal qualities rather that their hereditary class and proves this through the way the
characters act, view each other, and view themselves. Austen believes that rank should not be
determined by hereditary class and demonstrates this through the characters ... Show more content

Mr. Bingley was unaffectedly civil in his answer, and forced his younger sister to be civil also,
and say what the occasion required (Austen 41). Mr. Bingley was able to be noble and polite and
realize his place even when he was in a difficult situation which shows that he views himself with
respect even if other people do not. Mr. Darcy says that women that can do simple tasks that they
all can do are not considered accomplished, and continues to say that he has not met more than
six women who he would believe are accomplished (Austen 35). This proves that women view
themselves as accomplished and view other women like themselves as accomplished despite
other people s harsh opinions which shows their nobleness. Mr. Darcy proposes to Elizabeth
Bennet for the second time but immediately thinks he does not deserve her and her feelings are
the same as the first time he asked her (Austen 346). Mr Darcy shows that he does not view
himself as worthy enough of Elizabeth because he was rude to her family and not a noble

The Paranormal By Benjamin Radford
This article by Benjamin Radford expresses err in belief of the paranormal by presenting the
argument that ghost hunters frequent mistakes in their investigations, thus rendering their results
invalid. Any belief in ghost like creatures cannot be considered as legitimate because the evidence
is not legitimate. He claims that ghosthunting does not require any kind of professional license, so
any results are a product of effectiveness rather than skill. Furthermore, when findings are
interpreted, investigators tend to disregard any alternative explanation and heed to the emotions of
the supposed victims, which injects bias into any evidence that is collected. In terms of collected
evidence, Radford asserts that it is gained unscientifically

strongly believe that as you write more and more about a character, that they begin to reveal more
and more about themselves, from the standpoint that two unintentionally related traits may
organically foster another by extension of themselves, in this way the characters are revealing parts
of themselves to the author before the author reveals them to the reader.

Descriptive Essay About A Plane
A plane descends from a high elevation to a leveled point and then ultimately softly landing on the
airport grounds.
Poof, bark, whir were all sounds that the plane made from the moment the pilot started the engine.
I looked around looking at how different people would react to these noises but they all seemed
quite used to everything. I took a glimpse of a few people that were on the plane and I saw that this
one bald white man who wore plaid had his laptop in front of him typing something that seemed
to be long. Maybe he was a reporter or even one of those weird writers who write stuff as a
profession. Two seats behind the man there was a woman probably in her early 30 s, pale skin,
coarse hair, squinting hard to read the newspaper. Hearing someone whispering something I turned
around in the back of my seat to see that there was an old lady praying something my mom
described as speaking in tongues. All I thought about is how this plane was able to fly in the air
without any strings attached to it like in the cartoons.

Personal Reflection Of My Personal Code Of Ethics
After investing 5 weeks in my Ethics 302 class, I ve learned that morals are, rules and attitudes
that we live by, or are expected to live by. Therefore, morals are related to my personal code of
ethics. My personal code of ethics or conduct plays an important part in my everyday life and
activities. This personal code of conduct promotes many virtues and qualities and produces my
moral character. Some results of my moral character is integrity, courtesy, dependability,
friendliness to name a few. Therefore, my moral character will gauge if I m a good person with a
solid moral compass. When I think about moralityand how it relates to my personal code of ethics, I
m constantly reminded that we have a free will to choose what is right and wrong and good or
bad. This free will or moral compass directs us which way to go when making decisions
concerning right or wrong. It will make a difference with the friends we choose, the profession
we try to obtain and also how we display our emotions such as happiness, anger and resilience.
Thinking back, I believe my personal code of ethics were influenced by my parents and my
religion. As a young man, I strive to live my life based on my christian upbringing. God is my
moral strength when things get challenging and difficult with the cares of life. He reminds me
when I m faced with wrong decisions what s right or wrong. In addition to my belief and
experiences, my parents have encouraged morality in our household since birth. Okay, maybe
not since birth but early childhood. With that being said, I think I can say that I have good moral
characteristics. The ethical theory that I closely follow is Divine Command Theory. Based on the
definition file distributed for this course, Divine Command Theory is, a theological theory that
God has created the laws of morality; in other words, something is right because God commands
it. Opposed to natural law theory, which claims that God commands something because it is right.
I try to hold this theory close because I know I can t control my moral compass without a higher
deity. For example, I try to practice integrity in my life. As I think back to one of the examples in
our discussion forum where we shared about

The Dred Scott Decision Case
The Dred Scott Decision was a famous Supreme Court case, deciding over the decision of
slavery was legal in the newly discovered territory. It debated over the decision of whether it was
legal for slaveholders to take their property into the newly formed territory or whether their
property should be freed in this process. The ruling concluded in 1857 and affirmed that
slaveholders should have the right to take their slaves to the west . The decision took three
attempts to finally reach a conclusion about whether an African American living in recently
developed land should be considered free or not. Below I will discuss the life of Dred Scott, the
Scott v. Emerson Case, the Scott v. Sandford Case, the eradicating of slavery, and the path to
black citizenship in the proceeding decades. Dred Scott was an enslaved African American who
was born in Southampton County, Virginia. He and his original owner, Peter Blow, moved from
Virginia to St. Louis to attempt farming. Shortly after his owner s death on June 23, 1832 in
Missouri, Scott believed that this transaction should entitle him to his freedom. However, an
assistant surgeon of the U.S. Army, named Dr. John Emerson, purchased Scott. In 1836, Emerson
moved to a fort in Wisconsin Territory and took Scott with him. After living in free soil with his
owner, who was an abolitionist, a test case was declared and Scott sued for his freedom, arguing
that his removal to Illinois should end his servitude, because slavery was not

Off Road Driving Maintenance
Off Road Driving Maintenance
Off road driving should be treated differently from city driving. Maneuvering in uneven and dirt
roads can be quite tough on your vehicle. Most drivers often push their cars to the limit when they
are driving off road. It helps them gauge how far they can stretch their vehicle.
In this case, you should always perform regular maintenance check ups on your car. After all, it is
more prone to wear and tear and constant exposure to heat, dirt, and other road contaminants can
cause your car parts to deteriorate faster.
Doing regular inspections on your car will allow you to address any new issues as soon as possible.
This makes it safer for you to travel on or off road.

4.Use the jack to lift the vehicle off the ground. Different car models may have different places to
put the jack; consult your owner s manual for specific locations. Once the jack is securely in the
correct spot, jack up the car until the tire is about 6 inches off the ground.
5.Remove the lug nuts and pull the tire off the car. Make sure to place the lug nuts together, and

Human Resource Management And How Does It Affect An...
One would ask the question, What is Human Resource Management and how does it affect an

practice of managing individuals in an organization through an organized and systematic method.
Human resource management affects an organization by executing the procedures and policies and

by the human resource management, it is vital to the attainment of an organization. Today, we will
be looking at three different ways in which human resource managementaffects an organization.
One, look at how human resource management influence an organizational performance. Next, I

improving efficiencies or contributing to revenue growth. This is to say that the effectiveness of
human resource management in an organization has the ability to bring about change, meet the
organizations goals, and be able to expand workers commitment, energy and accomplishments.
Another way HRM can influence an organization is through its talent philosophy.

Shall the Fundamentals Win by Harry Emerson Fosdick
Perhaps the most powerful, fluent, and forceful paper promoting liberal Christianity is indeed
Harry Emerson Fosdick s 1922 sermon Shall the Fundamentalists Win? . Fosdick seemed as if he
was a very captivating human being in history during his time of existence. He wrote one of the
most engaging papers that I have yet to read thus this far. It was definitely a wise decision to go
ahead and read the two articles discussing fundamentalismto catch me up so that I did not have
trouble keeping up with Fosdick s movement that he established in his sermon. Initially, I believe
that the arising church is, amongst other things, is a rectifying of liberalismfor a postmodern age.
And I m convinced that the same claims made by Fosdick in 1922 are just what we hear form
emergents today. There is nothing new that lies under the sun today. It is only natural that the
specifics argued for by the modernists are not those of the postmodern emergents. I m
dumbfounded that Fosdick s opening strategy is to compare and contrast fundamentalist with the
evangelical churches . Fortunately, Fosdick was writing during a time in period when liberals
were actually pleased with living up to their name. He does however accidentally refer to liberalism
within the body of his sermon but his opening comparison is between fundamentalist and the
evangelical churches , even before he introduces the reader to liberal opinions . Little had I realized
that his foundation to his strategy to camouflage

Pork was the popular meat in Kansas and some vegetables are available from the garden that can

withered land, where local farmers who were depending upon spring wheat were almost

Vladimir Putin, The Most Hated Man Of His Time
Vladimir Putin, who is the president of Russia, the man that is held responsible for tearing
Ukraine apart into a battlefield. The eastern region of Ukraine withheld a city (Crimea), which
became the headlines of all western and global war for its significant role in the Ukrainian Russian
Conflict. This was due to the city that was being fought over by the two countries. As Russias
president, Vladimir Putinwas bashed by the world for being the new modern Hitler; which Hilary
Clinton had compared Putin s strategical methods on this crisis to. She compared it to the
similar Nazi s of 1930; which she had said in her speech at the University of California.
Although, no one can really understand why Vladimir Putin was the most hated man of his
time. Later it became evident that it was because of the propaganda that was created by the
western media and news. We must really think the fundamentals as to why Putin really entered
Crimea, and who really is behind the new regime that has settled in Ukraine as well as which
part of the world is standing behind Ukraine. Former President Viktor Yankovich made a phone
call to Vladimir Putin seeking help. He had called while he was in hiding fleeing to Russia right
after that conversation, around a two years ago shortly after over a 100 people were killed in a 48
hour protest. He fled his own country for his own safety. The fact that he fled as president to a

Should Australia Have Written Constitution
Topic: It is some times said that average of Australian is unaware that this country has written

The Australian constitution was drafted and aiming at two main constitutional conventions in 1891.
These were the finance and trade arising from federation and how best to weigh the interests of the
smaller states against populous states in the new federal legislative.
Argument for:
In relations to the topic above, I would like to examine some of the themes that likely related to any

The Value Of Interpersonal Skills
The Value of Interpersonal Skills in Everyday Life and Business
Lisa Roberts Nicholas
University of the People
Assignment 6
Abstract
Thomas Malone of MIT Solan School discussed impersonal skills importance and his research,
measuring intelligence groups. He felt that interpersonal skill are more important than before
because it has become more important to think of businesses, and organizations not just in terms
of how efficient or how productive they are but also in terms of their intelligence. Findings to his
research lead to the discovery that for a group to be collectively intelligent it must have a lot of
people who are socially perceptive. So even though his test was done based on reading emotions
and eyes it must be completed with a much broader range of interpersonal skills, what you might
call intelligence. (H. (n.d.). Why Interpersonal Skills Are More Important Than You Think). The
following skills which we use in our personal and business communications are valuable to
interpersonal skills.
Listening is the ability to accurately receive and interpret messages during the communication
process. For there to be effective communication, listening must play the essential part. The inability
to listen effectively can contribute to easily misunderstanding messaged.
Example: A bosswho listens to his employees overheard his assistant complaint of feeling unwell

Twenty-Year Goal Research Paper
Twenty Year Goal
Background:
At the beginning of my high school journey (grade 6 onwards), I was very interested in becoming
a doctor. More specifically an orthopedic surgeon. Finding out that I could not go into my field due
to my hand tremors was difficult to take in at such a young age. Conducting more and more
research as I got older, showed me that coming into engineering would give me so many options to
continue my interest in biology, perhaps designing machines that could work more efficiently etc.
The last few years of high school made it obvious to me that engineering was the field I should go
into. Physics and math were my two favorite subjects, and I excelled in them. Aside from that, I

The one I am most interested in is the Clean Snowmobile Team, as it combines two things I am
passionate about, snow (and skiing) and protecting the environment. I am hoping that by 2B, I
will have enough work experience and sufficient knowledge about engineering, to come up with
creative, and lateral ideas that could solve the problem of tailpipe emissions and noise pollution
made by current snowmobiles. 2B and 3A will give me a lot of time to find out more about
myself. None of these terms are considered to be hard, and so, I can use my extra time throughout
the terms, to explore different fields of mechanical engineering that I had not previously thought
of. This would help me find out if biomechanics is the right choice for me. 3B is the toughest
term in undergraduate mechanical engineering at the University of Waterloo. This will mean
that I am going to have to focus on my academics a lot more than previous semesters. This may
eliminate my chance of joining student teams, and play as many sports. This term is also an
important one in terms of co op because I would be looking for my first of final two jobs. This can
help me decide my future, as many people return to one of their last two co op jobs after

Agricultural Subsidies In The United States
Agricultural subsidies have existed in the United States for over a hundred years. The 1916
Federal Farm Loan Act provided affordable loans to farmers. Several programs emerged during
the New Deal Era that supported the development of crop insurance, limited competition,
production controls and much more. A struggling finance industry in the 1980s led to an increase
in the government financial support of farms, despite calls from the Reagan administration to cut
subsidies. In 1996, the Freedom to Farm law drew away from the subsidies and support market
supply and demand. However, in the years following, Congress started to again funnel subsidies
to the agricultural industry. The original provisions of the 1996 law would have resulted in $47
billion in subsidy cost over 7 years; instead, spending reached well over $120 billion (Orden,
Paalberg, Roe, 1999).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only did the bill expand subsidies by 74% over 10 years, but it established a counter cyclical
price program that guaranteed prices for farmers (Government Printing Office, 2005). Then, in

it also instituted two subsidy programs; Agricultural Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage. The
bill was originally supposed to save taxpayers money; however, it is now clear that the new

Historical Significance Of The Steam Invention
Introduction:
In the real world, human beings always rely on various natural resources to survive over thousand
years. The ancients use water and woods mostly. As the time goes by, modern people considered
that oil and coal are the most important energy for people. In human history, people have been
experienced industrial revolutions over three times. The very first time industrial revolution
occurred at 1760s and ended at 1850s and it marks that mankind entered the age of steam. Without
any doubt, all kinds of steamer boomed at the market, steam locomotive, steam train and etc. It
proved that historical significance of the steam inventions, which ended the human dependence on
animal power, wind and water for over 4700 years, at the meantime, due to the steam things, some
human historian believed that 19th century European domination of the world is based on the
steam engine. After decades, a new type of energy source for human has been obtained natural
resources and people would develop the possession of the earth fossil fuels, namely oil and gas.
The second industrial revolution had changed the world operation mode, which means Mankind
entered the age of electricity and reach the peak in the information revolution. Oil and coal became
the major resources. Especially after 1870, all industries are subject to the impact of science. Due to
the use of electricity and the invention of the main use of oil and gasoline internal combustion
engine, the power industry has been

Coping With Loss, Mechanisms Of The Human Mind
Coping with Loss; Mechanisms of the Human Mind When one loses someone or something

the violence and moral anguish, which is accompanied by a loss to the protagonist. The plot shows
a process of events that ultimately leads to death and devastation. Both protagonists in Elie Wiesels

From then on, I had no other name (Wiesel 42). The minorities in the concentration camps are no
longer individuals, but are dehumanized into empty shells of themselves. The longer they remain in
camps, the more they are reduced to a mere physical presence, losing their selves to their self
preservation instinct, and eventually becoming just hungry, nearly dead bodies. Counting the days
until his liberation, Elie thought [He] was nothing but a body. Perhaps even less: a famished
stomach. The stomach alone was measuring time (Wiesel 52). The loss of the right to be an
individual confuses Elie, making him question whether he is too weak to survive, giving readers
their first glimpse into his change in personality. From a loyal son who fought his father s battles,
he becomes the betrayer, allowing his father to be killed right in front of his eyes. This change in
personality is derived from a Level 3 Defense Mechanism of the human mind known as
Dissociation. This Defence Mechanism involves the victim modifying their own identity to
avoid the suffering accompanied by a traumatic situation. Elie alters his characteristics to be
better suited for survival, as seen in how he sacrificed his father, something he claimed he would
never do, perhaps as a way of providing a reason for this sudden change in personality. By
dissociating himself to overcome trauma, Elie loses his sense of his identity and what he was
raised to believe in. Loss is understood as a natural part of

An Inappropriate Medication For Medical Patient Safety...
INTRODUCTION An inappropriate medication use that can harm a patient or no therapeutic effect
is considered as the pharmaceutical error, as according to the Malaysian National Patient Safety
Council. The pharmaceutical error can be caused by the mistakes done by physicians, pharmacists,
healthcare professionals, nurses or patients itself in either diagnosis or administration of drugs. The
pharmaceutical error is an event that can be prevented. Generally, every step in treating of a patient,
including diagnosis, dispensing of drugs and administration, should be done accurately without
estimation. The consequences of medication error can lead to complication or death in patients.
According to American Hospital Association, the medication error can be caused by incomplete
patient information (such as history of patient), unavailable information of drugs (which is lead to
wrong route of administration), miscommunication of prescription order, lacks of appropriate
labelling or even environmental factors. For instance, a patient complained that his skin began to
rash and itchy after taking certain drugs. After investigation, there was no error in diagnosis in his
disease, but the problem was the patient did not mention his allergy to certain drug contents and
there was no any drug allergy test such as blood test and skin test before dispensing the drug. From
this example, it had proven that how importance are the records and details of patients in dispensing
the medications.

Emergency Medicine
Only in the emergency department can yoga save a patient s life. People snicker when I begin
my story this way but it s true. Once, a fifty year old African American woman was brought into
our ED with one hour of facial droop and weakness. We were immediately concerned for a stroke,
and the neurology team agreed. Imaging ruled out a hemorrhage, and neurology cleared us to use
thrombolytics, but the patient s bloodpressure was a staggering 220/120. After maximum dose
nicardipine therapy, her pressures still hovered above the threshold for tPA. Time ticked away
and we grew anxious as the window for thrombolysis narrowed. I looked across to the patient s
room and noticed several of her family members bawling at the top of their lungs. That s not
helping, I thought. So I walked over to the howling family members and gently, diplomatically
ushered them to the waiting area. Then I approached the patient and noticed how panicked she
appeared. I asked her to follow along with me, and together we ran through a deep breathing
exercise I learned in yoga class. Five minutes later, I rechecked her pressures and they had finally
fallen below the threshold. The patient went on to receive her tPA and eventually left the hospital
with mild residual deficits. Stories like this are the reason emergency medicine motivates and
excites me: the patients acuity allows us to make an immediate... Show more content on

Acute Renal Failure Of The Urinary System

Acute Renal Failure
Although the function of the urinary system is used to filter and eliminate waste from the body, it
also contributes with maintenance of homeostasis of water and blood pressure, regulates
electrolytes, pH balance, and activates vitamin D. The urinary system consists of 2 kidneys which
extract wastes from the blood, balance body fluid, and converts it into urine. It also includes 2
ureters which conduct urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder via peristalsis, a urinary
bladder which serves as a reservoir for urine and finally a urethra which conducts urine from the
bladder to the outside of the body for elimination. The ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra together
form the urinary tract, which acts as a plumbing system to drain urine from the kidneys, store it,
and then release it during urination (Taylor, 1999).
As simple as this urinary system may sound there are also complication such as acute renal failure
or acute kidney failure, this occurs when the kidneys suddenly are unable to filter waste products
from the blood. When kidneys lose their filtering ability, dangerous levels of wastes may
accumulate and the blood s chemical makeup may get out of balance (mayo clinic, 1998). Acute
renal failure is categories into three different stages prerenal, intrarenal, and postrenal.
Prerenal is the most common type of acute renal

FINDING A BALANCE
Finding a Balance: Europa Universalis IV
In many ways, Europa Universalis 4 is less of a game about history, and more of a game about
understanding history. In this game, you play as any nation from 1444 until 1821, from the
dawn of the fall of the Western Roman Empire until the death of Napoleon, and your goals as a
state are only limited by your imagination and skill. Accomplishing a world conquest is
completely within the realm of possibility for a skilled player, or you could be the type of player
who simply wants to form Germany or unite the Holy Roman Empire.
The player can begin the game at any date during the period which the game takes place, with the
map of the world being representative of the actual world at that time, but players will often find
that their games do not come close to this accuracy even when the player has nothing to do with it.
Because every nation is played by an AI just as long as you have been playing your nation,
sometimes variation happens. From personal experience, I have seen
Venice control almost all of Greece when I was playing an Asian country. It is this variation
which gives the game excitement; if I knew how the game would progress every single time, I
would play one game and never play again.
On one hand, you have a serious, historical simulation of the world and how it progressed, and on
the other hand you have a game where Ulm, a German minor, can take over the entire European
continent within several hundred

Social Justice in its entire entity: The Final Countdown to Defining Social Justice
Kaylie Ines
ID 201: Social Justice
Dr. Jorsch Dr. Van Tassel Fear and cruelty are the weapons of animals, not humanity, and social
injustices derive from fear the masked ego of one who has sustained through power: white power.
It is only fair to continue to talk about social injustice by defining what is social justice. Social
justice embodies a framework (and certainly not limited to) a community, a united nation,
equitable in standing together in belief and acceptance of diversity; equality; freedom; and equal
opportunity to income and its privileges. Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United
States of America proclaims that a house divided cannot stand. I believe President Lincoln is
correct with his statement, if the house is not endowed in a universal cause and foundation, then
the infrastructure is faulty and will collapse. Here is how this connects to social justice, if that
same house is not socially just, separation will impel and will cause dilapidation within the
foundation. This paper will implement foci on Michelle Alexander s (The New Jim Crow)
approach of the social issue of a new Jim Crow system of mass incarceration in a colorblind
society, and Barbara Ehrenreich s (Nickle and Dimed) notion to the social injustice that derives
from a capitalistic driven society that undermines the working lower class men and women. With

The Safety Of Nascar Great Dale Earnhardt
NASCAR is one of the biggest sports in the United States. It is also one of the more dangerous
sports. Within the past 20 years alone we have lost NASCAR great Dale Earnhardt as well as
fourth generation driver Adam Petty to fatal crashes on the track just to name a few. Earnhardt s
death came as he hit the wall going at 160 miles per hour at the 2001 Daytona 500. Petty lost his
life in a fatal crash at the New Hampshire Speedway during a practice run. Petty lost control of his
car crashing head on into the turn three wall. Both of these accidents killed the drivers instantly
when they collided with the wall fracturing their skulls. From these tragedies rose many new
safety features such as the Steel and Foam Energy Reduction (SAFER) barrier and the Head and
Neck Support (HANS) device. But even with all of these safety improvements there still have
been drivers injured in crashes. So what can NASCAR do to further ensure the safety of their
drivers? Actually there is a lot that NASCAR can do and some of it is a lot simpler then what
we have anticipated. After Kyle Busch broke his leg in a wreck at Daytona in February of 2015.
NASCAR talked about increasing the amount of SAFER barrier walls on the track. Instead of
having the SAFER barrier in only the corners of the tracks NASCAR has started to talk about
putting it on every wall even in the infield of the track. Also they have considered getting rid of the

Where other religions start with man serving God for the hope of finally getting to satisfy self, the
beauty of Christianity is it starts with God seeking us and ends with us serving God. illy the USS
United States was ordered for construction in 1949 for 79 million (10 times that amount in todays
economy). It was the fasted ocean liner to cross the Atlantic and the largest designed to date (able
to carry 15,000 troops), but turned into a luxury liner solely for heads of state which reduced the
capacity to just 2000 VIP s. The Bible says, god is not willing that any should perish. Jesus died for
all people, not just the VIP s. Jesus is calling you to the road less traveled. Jesus died for you to
live but not on a Cruise ship of Christianity living the American dream.
2. The road less traveled is CLOSE (v10)

  • 2. Essay on My GatherfatherВґs History and Key Events in... My grandfather turned 100 years old in 1875. On the night of his birthday he pulled me aside and told me about his life; and significant moments in history which he found worth telling. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1775, on the eve of the American Revolution . His father was from Britain and his mother was from Ireland. They both came to the colonies because they saw opportunities here. Their form of transportation was by boat. When they arrived they had no money and had to become indentured slaves. They ended up working together, his mother said it was love at first sight, and when his father had the chance to pick who his woman would be, when he finished his contract with the owner, he chose her. They moved to a cottage and had a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also believed that the reason Britain wanted the colonies to be under their power was so that Britain could make money off of the colonies by taxing them. Not too long before my grandfather was born, patriots force[d] merchants to sign agreements prohibiting the importation of British goods , if they refused they were probably tarred and feathered as punishment, (Hollitz 72). (This helped explain why he saw buckets of tar and bags of feathers here and there.) They did this because of the Townshend Act, which were taxes put on a few British goods that were imported. The colonies now had almost all the goods they needed and didn t need to rely on the British anymore, further proving their independence. A few months before he was born, people from the colonies saw their independence approaching and thought it was time to start drafting a new framework for a national government (Hollitz 79). John Adams was a member of the Second Continental Congress , which meant that he participated in drafting the Articles of Confederation (Hollitz 79). So Abigail Adams (his wife) wrote to him about including women rights in the Confederation. Even though she took this seriously, he didn t and saw it as a good sense of humor. This was important to my grandfather, because it was important to his mother. He believed that even though women aren t capable of doing of the same duties as men (such as hard labor), they do have other things they could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Interaction between the American and the Samoan... Describe the interaction between the two leadership groups. What behaviors of the American representatives could create conflict with the Samoan leaders? Are there similarities from this meeting and the Blue Horizon Cruise simulation meeting? At this tense meeting with considerable distrust and suspicion evident in the faces, speeches and body language of the Samoan chiefs, the High Chief expressed considerable skepticism about American plans for the island, such as providing more education in English, teaching the young marketable skills, and developing the country. Being educated at the University of Hawaii, the High Chief would have had very good reason to be suspicious of the intentions of the United States, even when its representatives expressed their goodwill toward the Native peoples and desire to bring progress; and modernization. He would have learned about the wars against the Native Americans from the 17th to the 19th Centuries, for example, the annexation of Hawaii in 1898, and the Philippines War of 1899 1902, if indeed he had not known all about these before. American Samoa was annexed only nine years before Guam, the Philippines and Hawaii, when the U.S. was in a particularly expansionist and imperial stage. At no time were the peoples of these consulted about whether they wished to be annexed to the United States, although American policy did grant them a large measure of autonomy and home rule. In addition the High Chief would have learned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Prescription Pharmaceutical Industry Analysis Prescription drug prices are increasing and it is becoming much more difficult for people that rely on healthcare to purchase them. Branded prescription drugs, specialty prescription drugs, and even generic products like ibuprofen have been inflating in the last 7 years. There are a number of reasons to attribute to the said inflation over the last 7 years. Newly approved branded and specialty prescription drugs and the rising costs of existing branded and specialty prescription drugs. Brand and specialty prescription drugs are having to sell at higher prices because of existing prescription drugs that cost high amounts. Brand name prescription drugs rose 12.6% in 2013 and specialty prescription drugs rose 10.6%. These percentages in monetary... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast to the newer prescription drugs, already existing prescription drugs cumulatively increased 81% from 2005 to 2013. Of these prescription drugs, the ones that treat chronic conditions have had a price increase of $4,336 in 2006 to $11,870 in 2013. These high price points on drugs that have been on the market for several years are a significant factor in the accelerating prescription drug inflammation. An example of rise in existing prescription drugs is Jazz Pharmaceuticals Xyrem, a drug which purpose is to treat narcolepsy, was in 2007 priced at $2.04 per 1 milliliter dose. In 2014, Jazz Pharmaceuticals Xyrem was priced at $19.40 per 1 milliliter dose. This means that there was 841% price increase over the course of seven years on the same exact drug. Jazz Pharmaceuticals is not the only company increasing its prescription drugs in such high amounts. Eli LIlly had a price increase of 350% over the course of 6 years from 2007 to 2013, and Mylan hiked its epipen cost that treats anaphylaxis by 220% in the same six years. Companies say these costs are higher due to a number of reasons. One being that the high costs of these prescription drugs are being used to help find more efficient cures to disease, saving money in the long run. Another being that everything in our economy is inflating so it is only natural that prescription drugs increase as well. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Comparison of How Spain, France, Britian, and America... In this essay, I will compare and contrast how Spain, France, England, and America viewed and interacted with Native peoples differently as they colonized North America. It is reported that roughly three hundred and fifty thousand Native Americans called the area known today as Florida home, when Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon landed his fleet of ships on the coast in the early 1500 s. As we have discussed and learned when the Native people were colonized by outsiders it was not a great day. The Natives of Florida were not immune; war, slavery, disease, and extremely low child birth rates took a devastating toll on the Florida tribes. A charter penned by Ponce de Leon, known as the encomienda, granted Spain the ability to enslave the Natives of Florida. Forcing them to work in the crop fields and essentially making them the major labor force; constructing and designing the buildings occupied by the Spanish. The oppression did not end there. Around the middle of the 16th century the Native people were declared to be free, but only on paper. The Spanish royals felt that the Natives needed to educated in the ways of Catholicism, and those that did not want to conform could be punished up to and including death. Life was not easy for the Spaniards who tried to live in Florida. It was in fact, very difficult; and they had no time to convert any of the Native people to Catholicism. However, once they did get settled and started to become acclimatized to Florida s environment they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. My Interest On Computer Science Essay Google Essay What sparked your interest in computer science? How did this lead you to major in computer science and what do you hope to accomplish with your degree? In your answer, please describe how your experiences have influenced the goals you have for yourself. Every human has a purpose and every purpose has an ordained path and beginning. My interest in computer science came to light as soon as I began to walk, talk and think independently. I always had the innate passion and desire to scrutinize electronic devices even though I was still a child with little understanding. Being a little kid, my access to computers were constrained, but nonetheless, I made the best out of every opportunity I had with them. Time flew by like a dove as I suddenly began to grow in wisdom, and also began to understand what life is all about. Immediately I graduated from high school, I applied for a 3 month full time computer training before making any preparation for college. Unbeknownst to me, I was actually on a direct path to discovering my true potential in computer science and engineering. Financially and physically, it was a burden commuting from my home down to the computer training center, but the intrinsic passion and desire to get my hands on electronic devices and to learn more about how computers really work made me overlook the struggle. I did not think twice while applying for Computer Engineering in the university, as I already had a clear glimpse of my future ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many superintendents and school personnel were relieved of their professional responsibilities on the days they protested hoping that they could sway the governor and the lawmakers from passing the bill. Its primary focus is used for helping teachers improve their performance by learning from each other. Merit Pay can take the form of a bonus or a permanent teacher salary increased. This motivates many teachers because they believe they are being evaluated more fairly than traditional evaluation. Merit pay is important to study because it s a one of the most controversial issue in the field of education and it does have an effect on school finance in the future. We should be concerned about using merit pay in our school system because most professions offer bonuses and salary increases for their exemplary employees why should the education profession be any different? Shouldn t we try and use incentives as we do with our students to motivate teachers to give their very best in educating our future leaders of tomorrow. Merit pay will recruit and retain some of the nation s brightest mind. Many people who have the capability to teach our students refused to do so due to teacher pay but with merit pay many of these individuals may consider working in the education profession. There are two definitions that are particularly similar in the ways people view each other. The first is a hereditary class of high social status and the second is showing fine personal qualities. In Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice, Austen believes that nobilityshould be defined through the latter definition. Jane Austenbelieves that social rank should be determined by one s nobility, meaning their personal qualities rather that their hereditary class and proves this through the way the characters act, view each other, and view themselves. Poof, bark, whir were all sounds that the plane made from the moment the pilot started the engine. I took a glimpse of a few people that were on the plane and I saw that this one bald white man who wore plaid had his laptop in front of him typing something that seemed to be long. Personal Reflection Of My Personal Code Of Ethics After investing 5 weeks in my Ethics 302 class, I ve learned that morals are, rules and attitudes that we live by, or are expected to live by. Therefore, morals are related to my personal code of ethics. My personal code of ethics or conduct plays an important part in my everyday life and activities. This personal code of conduct promotes many virtues and qualities and produces my moral character. Some results of my moral character is integrity, courtesy, dependability, friendliness to name a few. Therefore, my moral character will gauge if I m a good person with a solid moral compass. When I think about moralityand how it relates to my personal code of ethics, I m constantly reminded that we have a free will to choose what is right and wrong and good or bad. This free will or moral compass directs us which way to go when making decisions concerning right or wrong. It will make a difference with the friends we choose, the profession we try to obtain and also how we display our emotions such as happiness, anger and resilience. Thinking back, I believe my personal code of ethics were influenced by my parents and my religion. As a young man, I strive to live my life based on my christian upbringing. God is my moral strength when things get challenging and difficult with the cares of life. He reminds me when I m faced with wrong decisions what s right or wrong. In addition to my belief and experiences, my parents have encouraged morality in our household since birth. Okay, maybe not since birth but early childhood. With that being said, I think I can say that I have good moral characteristics. The ethical theory that I closely follow is Divine Command Theory. Based on the definition file distributed for this course, Divine Command Theory is, a theological theory that God has created the laws of morality; in other words, something is right because God commands it. Opposed to natural law theory, which claims that God commands something because it is right. I try to hold this theory close because I know I can t control my moral compass without a higher deity. • 30. Coping With Loss, Mechanisms Of The Human Mind Coping with Loss; Mechanisms of the Human Mind When one loses someone or something valuable to them, the grief can be intense. But what happens when what they lose is actually a piece of them? Novels depicting a witness account of The Holocaust (1941 1945) paint a picture of the violence and moral anguish, which is accompanied by a loss to the protagonist. The plot shows a process of events that ultimately leads to death and devastation. Both protagonists in Elie Wiesels Night and Wladyslaw Szpilman s The Pianist gradually fall into the abyss of inhumane behaviour. Post Holocaust, they embark on a new life free from social restraints and become either unmindful or compliant to the losses they faced on their journey. Elie and Wladyslaw... The minorities in the concentration camps are no longer individuals, but are dehumanized into empty shells of themselves. The longer they remain in camps, the more they are reduced to a mere physical presence, losing their selves to their self preservation instinct, and eventually becoming just hungry, nearly dead bodies. Counting the days until his liberation, Elie thought [He] was nothing but a body. Perhaps even less: a famished stomach. The stomach alone was measuring time (Wiesel 52). The loss of the right to be an individual confuses Elie, making him question whether he is too weak to survive, giving readers their first glimpse into his change in personality. From a loyal son who fought his father s battles, he becomes the betrayer, allowing his father to be killed right in front of his eyes. This change in personality is derived from a Level 3 Defense Mechanism of the human mind known as Dissociation. This Defence Mechanism involves the victim modifying their own identity to avoid the suffering accompanied by a traumatic situation. Elie alters his characteristics to be better suited for survival, as seen in how he sacrificed his father, something he claimed he would never do, perhaps as a way of providing a reason for this sudden change in personality. By dissociating himself to overcome trauma, Elie loses his sense of his identity and what he was raised to believe in. Loss is understood as a natural part of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jonas Edward Salk was a medical doctor and epidemiologist, who aided in the manufacturing of the first vaccine to counteract poliomyelitis (polio). Most notably, Jonas Edward Salk was known for his work in the field of medicine, specifically the polio vaccine, his medical research institution, and the institution s fight against AIDS. When Jonas Salk was asked by Herb Meyer, a friend of Salk, what he thought of Intelligent Design vs. evolution, Salk responded by saying, Why do I have to choose? Why must it be one or the other? Of course evolution is real. DNA mutates and that makes evolution one of the most powerful forces in nature. But who set evolution into motion? Can t God have done that? (Aussiegirl 1) Based on this quote, Salk reveals his thoughts about God and accredits the creation of evolution, small mutations and not common ancestry, to God. Moreover, when the poliomyelitis vaccine was released in 1955, Jonas Salk was asked by Edward R. Murrow in an interview about who owned the patent for vaccine. Well, the people, I would say, Salk responded. There is no patent. Could you patent the sun? • 32. An Inappropriate Medication For Medical Patient Safety... INTRODUCTION An inappropriate medication use that can harm a patient or no therapeutic effect is considered as the pharmaceutical error, as according to the Malaysian National Patient Safety Council. The pharmaceutical error can be caused by the mistakes done by physicians, pharmacists, healthcare professionals, nurses or patients itself in either diagnosis or administration of drugs. The pharmaceutical error is an event that can be prevented. Generally, every step in treating of a patient, including diagnosis, dispensing of drugs and administration, should be done accurately without estimation. The consequences of medication error can lead to complication or death in patients. According to American Hospital Association, the medication error can be caused by incomplete patient information (such as history of patient), unavailable information of drugs (which is lead to wrong route of administration), miscommunication of prescription order, lacks of appropriate labelling or even environmental factors. For instance, a patient complained that his skin began to rash and itchy after taking certain drugs. After investigation, there was no error in diagnosis in his disease, but the problem was the patient did not mention his allergy to certain drug contents and there was no any drug allergy test such as blood test and skin test before dispensing the drug. From this example, it had proven that how importance are the records and details of patients in dispensing the medications. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once, a fifty year old African American woman was brought into our ED with one hour of facial droop and weakness. We were immediately concerned for a stroke, and the neurology team agreed. Imaging ruled out a hemorrhage, and neurology cleared us to use thrombolytics, but the patient s bloodpressure was a staggering 220/120. After maximum dose nicardipine therapy, her pressures still hovered above the threshold for tPA. Time ticked away and we grew anxious as the window for thrombolysis narrowed. I looked across to the patient s room and noticed several of her family members bawling at the top of their lungs. That s not helping, I thought. So I walked over to the howling family members and gently, diplomatically ushered them to the waiting area. Then I approached the patient and noticed how panicked she appeared. I asked her to follow along with me, and together we ran through a deep breathing exercise I learned in yoga class. Five minutes later, I rechecked her pressures and they had finally fallen below the threshold. The patient went on to receive her tPA and eventually left the hospital with mild residual deficits. Stories like this are the reason emergency medicine motivates and excites me: the patients acuity allows us to make an immediate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 38. Acute Renal Failure Of The Urinary System Diana Galeana MED 2049 Acute Renal Failure Instructor Michelle Earxsion Lamothe 7/25/2014 Acute Renal Failure Although the function of the urinary system is used to filter and eliminate waste from the body, it also contributes with maintenance of homeostasis of water and blood pressure, regulates electrolytes, pH balance, and activates vitamin D. The urinary system consists of 2 kidneys which extract wastes from the blood, balance body fluid, and converts it into urine. It also includes 2 ureters which conduct urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder via peristalsis, a urinary bladder which serves as a reservoir for urine and finally a urethra which conducts urine from the bladder to the outside of the body for elimination. The ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra together form the urinary tract, which acts as a plumbing system to drain urine from the kidneys, store it, and then release it during urination (Taylor, 1999). As simple as this urinary system may sound there are also complication such as acute renal failure or acute kidney failure, this occurs when the kidneys suddenly are unable to filter waste products from the blood. When kidneys lose their filtering ability, dangerous levels of wastes may accumulate and the blood s chemical makeup may get out of balance (mayo clinic, 1998). Acute renal failure is categories into three different stages prerenal, intrarenal, and postrenal. Prerenal is the most common type of acute renal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Finding A Balance 2 FINDING A BALANCE Finding a Balance: Europa Universalis IV In many ways, Europa Universalis 4 is less of a game about history, and more of a game about understanding history. In this game, you play as any nation from 1444 until 1821, from the dawn of the fall of the Western Roman Empire until the death of Napoleon, and your goals as a state are only limited by your imagination and skill. Accomplishing a world conquest is completely within the realm of possibility for a skilled player, or you could be the type of player who simply wants to form Germany or unite the Holy Roman Empire. The player can begin the game at any date during the period which the game takes place, with the map of the world being representative of the actual world at that time, but players will often find that their games do not come close to this accuracy even when the player has nothing to do with it. Because every nation is played by an AI just as long as you have been playing your nation, sometimes variation happens. From personal experience, I have seen Venice control almost all of Greece when I was playing an Asian country. It is this variation which gives the game excitement; if I knew how the game would progress every single time, I would play one game and never play again. On one hand, you have a serious, historical simulation of the world and how it progressed, and on the other hand you have a game where Ulm, a German minor, can take over the entire European continent within several hundred ... It is only fair to continue to talk about social injustice by defining what is social justice. Social justice embodies a framework (and certainly not limited to) a community, a united nation, equitable in standing together in belief and acceptance of diversity; equality; freedom; and equal opportunity to income and its privileges. Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United States of America proclaims that a house divided cannot stand. I believe President Lincoln is correct with his statement, if the house is not endowed in a universal cause and foundation, then the infrastructure is faulty and will collapse. Here is how this connects to social justice, if that same house is not socially just, separation will impel and will cause dilapidation within the foundation. This paper will implement foci on Michelle Alexander s (The New Jim Crow) approach of the social issue of a new Jim Crow system of mass incarceration in a colorblind society, and Barbara Ehrenreich s (Nickle and Dimed) notion to the social injustice that derives from a capitalistic driven society that undermines the working lower class men and women. • 41. The Safety Of Nascar Great Dale Earnhardt NASCAR is one of the biggest sports in the United States. It is also one of the more dangerous sports. Within the past 20 years alone we have lost NASCAR great Dale Earnhardt as well as fourth generation driver Adam Petty to fatal crashes on the track just to name a few. Earnhardt s death came as he hit the wall going at 160 miles per hour at the 2001 Daytona 500. Petty lost his life in a fatal crash at the New Hampshire Speedway during a practice run. Petty lost control of his car crashing head on into the turn three wall. Both of these accidents killed the drivers instantly when they collided with the wall fracturing their skulls. From these tragedies rose many new safety features such as the Steel and Foam Energy Reduction (SAFER) barrier and the Head and Neck Support (HANS) device. But even with all of these safety improvements there still have been drivers injured in crashes. So what can NASCAR do to further ensure the safety of their drivers? Actually there is a lot that NASCAR can do and some of it is a lot simpler then what we have anticipated. After Kyle Busch broke his leg in a wreck at Daytona in February of 2015. NASCAR talked about increasing the amount of SAFER barrier walls on the track. Instead of having the SAFER barrier in only the corners of the tracks NASCAR has started to talk about putting it on every wall even in the infield of the track. Also they have considered getting rid of the grass around the track simply because when drivers are sliding and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
