2. USA s Involvement in the Vietnam War Essay
USA s Involvement in the Vietnam War
The USA had a colossal hatred for the strong spread of communism that seemed to sweep across
Eastern Asia. Although Vietnam, part of Indochina in South East Asia was many thousands of miles
away from the USA, due to obsessive paranoia and the threat of its national interest, America felt
threatened adequately enough to fight a war there. The USA s suspicion that the communists were
taking over the world was exceptionally strong. Their explanation for their most paranoid attitude lay
in the Korean War, the communist take over of China, the Cold War and also the communist success
over the French in Vietnam. The USA remained indirectly involved until 1965. ... Show more content

The earlier policy of isolationism was now over; containment was underway and it hoped to put an
end to the spread. The USA was determined that no more countries were to turn communist. Also The
Marshall Plan was set up. Marshall aid was offered to many countries including communist ones. The
aid included goods, loans, food and advisers. By helping communist countries also, it could perhaps
advise and persuade the benefits of capitalism, so not only was the USA using the method of
containment, they were attempting to switch those countries already made communist.
1949 was a appalling year for the USA. The USA was no longer the only nuclear power as the USSR
had exploded its very own atom bomb. Also, although the USA has spent around $2 billion supporting
anti communist countries China had become communist. This worried America immeasurably.
The Vietminh, regardless of assistance from China, were forced back from 1950 1951 when General
De Lattre De Tassigny inflicted a series of defeats on the Vietminh. The USA supported the French as
their opponents were communists. If the French won, Vietnam wouldn t be communist. The USA
began becoming indirectly involved by providing financial aid; $500 million a year was put into the
French war effort. Also the USA helped the French set up a non communist government in the south
of the country.

3. Analysis Of The Film Powder
Powder is an albino teenage boy who was very intelligent and shunned after the death of his last
relative. After the death, people began to judge powder, not even knowing what he looked like or the
kind of person he was. His special abilities make him an outcast. In the readings, it says, The stranger
in town becomes shrouded with suspension. Every action is scrutinized. Every inaction is a sign of
guilt. The writer s argument is, don t judge a book by its cover.
The Screen writer and director of the film is Victor Salva. He is a writer and director of over twenty
short and long films before he graduated from high school. According to IMDb, the movie Powder
was his first big studio picture. It received a lot of critical acclaims and was top ten of the year several
times. Article Bio states, Professionally his career started from the year 1986 and within today s
context of time he is able to obtain successful position within the industry. After his biological father
left the family he was brought up by stepfather who often whose to get drunk and disturb the family
mostly by physical abuse.
After the death of one of his grandparents, he is discovered and sent to state home where he has
trouble fitting in. His unusual appearance and abilities caused the people in the town to mock and fear
him. Sheriff Barnum s wife, Emma is sick and in a coma and sheriff is unsure of what he should to
help her. Jessie asks Powder to pay Emma a visit to see if he could help. He touches Emma and shares
her thoughts with sheriff. It becomes clear to Powder that he will fit in with the others, so he runs
away and goes back home. Had they not judged him, they would be able to see the good and potential
in him. The writer/director wants the audience to think that our judgements and criticism shields us
from seeing the good and beauty in someone or something. His point is that we only perceive what is
in front of us. We as people are afraid of strangers because we taught to. The word stranger has a
series of definitions. According to Dictionary.com, A stranger can be a person with whom one has had
no acquaintance, a newcomer in a place or locality. An outsider, or a person who is not a member of

When thinking of leaders that create a corporate culture that sparked long term innovation through an
organization it s hard not to think of Steve Jobs or Vineet Nayar. Corporate culture refers to the

5. Benefits Of Homeschooling Essay
The Benefits of Homeschooling
Picture a student who always excels in every subject, yet learns nothing in school because they have
already learned everything on their own. They constantly find themselves being far ahead of their
classmates and not having to put any effort into assignments because the work they are given is too
easy for them. There are other schools that teach at their level, but cost thousands of dollars to attend.
What would you do if you had to choose between going to an affordable school that taught you
nothing, or paying thousands of dollars to attend a school that taught material at your level? The only
other option would be homeschooling, or parent led education based in one s home. As of September

Parents choose homeschooling over public or private school for a number of reasons. What are those
reasons? First, homeschooling poses a customized learning system that grants students with the
chance to learn and develop at their own pace. Next, families that homeschool their children have a
stronger bond with each other, building a safe and caring learning environment for students. Lastly,
research has shown that homeschooled students are above average in terms of social levels. Public
schooling may be beneficial to some students, but until the system is further improved for
convenience and profit to all, homeschooling is a more effective method of education. To start off,
homeschooling offers many learning benefits to students because it allows them to learn and develop
at their own pace. Instead of being restricted from learning about certain things in public school,
students are given individualized education that fits their needs and interests. This allows them to
excel at subjects they are good at, and work on subjects that they are struggling in. According to
Camille DiMaio, author of Before the Rain Falls, and mother of four homeschooled students, Our

Clearly, the Medicaid program is ripe for a major overhaul, a task that the federal government has thus

sponsored program whose objective is to provide patients with health assistance upon meeting specific
criteria. Medicaid is an insurance program that is available for disadvantaged persons, including the

There is a widespread belief that drug company s overcharge for their medicines in order to increase
profits. Many middle class and poorer families do not have health insurance because it s too costly for
them. It s a risk not to have it though, because if a person gets sick or injured, the cost of a hospital
stay is thousands per day. One group that is most affected of the high cost of health care and medicines
are senior citizens. It s gotten to the point for many of them that they must choose between buying
medicine or food, because they only have enough money for one of them. The government needs to
pass legislation and to work closely with the health insurance and drug companies to develop a
healthcare plan that successfully addresses the needs of all Americans. This must include programs
that enable the poor and elderly to receive the necessary care needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The flaws in health care are a major priority that the government needs to reform now. Although the
government has already begun to change some of the major problems, there is a lot of work that still
needs to be done. Throughout history, both the American citizen and the American government have
often reacted to problems, crises, and social injustices by instituting reform through new laws and
practices. If America has done this before, why shouldn t we be able to do it again?

In the United States, the government and specific interest groups create public policies to solve
internal problems and protect their citizens. Public policies can include any action, plan, or rule, which
relates to issues of domestic national importance. Once a certain issue becomes a concern for a
significant amount of people, it becomes a component of the national agenda, which is what the public
wants the government to acknowledge. Many of these problems are addressed because they negatively
affect a significant amount of people (Sparknotes: How Policy Gets Made). For the past few years,
one of the major issues in the United States is illegal immigration. Unlike today, a person immigrating
illegally was not a major issue years ago. Today unfortunately, there are so many illegal immigrants
from all over the world that it has become an issue no one can completely control.

(China and Australia the most important) Xerox Company should analyze more deeply the idea of

more profitable for the group to produce and deliver products for this market through Fuji Xerox than
from RX as now being done.
The last question to asses would be: Is there conditions for the sustainability of the joint venture? We
can see by the increase of sales and processes improvement that this partnership could promote
stability in the long term, but we should focus in organize the internal problems the most important
issue is to align interest of the companies. Therefore we should align which markets should Fuji Xerox
can serve and agree on who will do what, after this agreements are clear there will be no more friction
between the companies and they can be focus on working against the competition.
Xerox had come to recognize Fuji Xerox as a critical asset and we get to the conclusion that Fuji
Xerox does create value. Xerox Should gives more autonomy in order to compete directly with our
principal threat Canon who is introducing twice as many products than Xerox with a lower
investment. Xerox should focus on the high end segment and impulse Fuji Xerox by leaving them the
responsibility of the mid and low end

21. Compare Electronic Mediated And Face-To-Face Communication
Compare Electronic Mediated and Face to Face Communication Communication is evolving quickly,
offering us more options than ever before. Cellphone calls, texting via short messaging (SMS), Skype,
teleconferencing, Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, and face to face communication all play a major role in
how people communicate with others around the world. Despite how I may fee, face to face
communication is the best way to communicate with people because a lot of things won t get taken out
of context and their won t be any misunderstanding.
People are now connected electronically to 24 hour news cycles, updates on all the movements and
activities of friends and celebrities, and even, in the case of physicians, with latest research findings on
diagnoses and treatments of illnesses. Even counseling has expanded thanks to the Internet where
some counselors now offer group sessions via chat, or provide treatment via instant messaging and
emails. Psychologists have expressed concern whether computer mediated communication (CMC)
will help or hinder those individuals who may be lonely and isolated from others. CMC has definitely
changed how we communicate with others and has had an equal amount of problems related to
misinterpretation.
When it came to choosing one form of computer or electronic mediated communication, I decided to
go with texting via short messaging system (SMS) due to many reasons with the main reason is
because in the generation I live in we are always on our phones

25. The Rise And Fall Of Troy Maxon
The Rise and Fall of Troy Maxon: An Analysis of August Wilson s play Fences In Fences, August
Wilson, the playwright, provides a believable and powerful examination of the African American
experience in the late 1950 s. It provides an apt portrayal of the mentality of African American men
going into the civil rights movement, as well as a well developed account of the friction that occurs
between a father and a son, and a husband and wife in the face of conflict. According to Wilson, his
play provides Caucasians with a view into an African Americans life to find similarities to their own
(Kennedy and Gioia 1883). Not only did Wilson accomplish this, but also provided a representation of
interfamily relationships that occurs in many cultures. For instance, Katz maintains that the father son
relationship contains ... inherent seeds of conflict (Katz). The relationship between Cory and Troy
mirrors the conflict between many young men and their fathers as they attempt to create their identity
and independence while the fathers are still attempting to shape their future based on their
experiences, creating conflict that transcends differences in race and culture. Similarly, the issue of
infidelity in a marriage is another issue that is common in a multitude of cultures (Hartnett), and
addressed in this play through Bono s accusations toward Troy, and Troy s subsequent admission to
Rose that he had an affair resulting in a child. Wilson puts the most effort into developing

26. Book Thief Author s Craft Quotes
Book Thief Author s Craft Essay by Sydney Paunan
World War II was one of the darkest periods of time in human history. This is a fact widely known and
accepted by most people, and this era of history is studied very often in schools so the horrors of the
past may be taught and not repeated. But how did this two front war affect young German children?
They were growing up in a wildly violent time whilst being told that the horrible crimes committed by
their country were justified, though this view of the war is often overlooked. Though The Book Thief
does not tell a true story, it is very possible that the events in the story were the reality for many young
children growing up in Nazi Germany. The novel follows an 11 year old girl named Liesel, ... Show

With The Book Thief, the mood created is a somber one, to exemplify the seriousness of the war era.
One example of a dark tone being used is when Max first arrives on Himmel Street, in Molching. The
town hall stood like a giant ham fisted youth, too big for his age. The church disappeared in darkness
the farther his eyes traveled upward. It all watched him. He shivered. He warned himself. Keep your
eyes open. (German children were on the lookout for stray coins. German Jews kept watch for
possible capture) (169). Although this quote could also be used as an example of descriptive language
as well, the intensity of the writing makes it more suitable for author s tone. Markus Zusak s tone
creates a nightmarish air to match the horrors that occurred during the war. Not only is physical
darkness exhibited here in Max s surroundings, but emotional and historical darkness as well. The
second and third forms go hand in hand with each other. Max s tension and wariness is a direct result
of all the darkness spawned from the time period. If the horrible events of the war weren t occurring,
Max would have had no reason to be fearful. He would have been safe. But the harsh reality is that the
war wreaked chaos on many people, a hailstorm of darkness destroying millions of lives across the
globe. The author uses a very appropriate tone

processes through technology. Before the company s new process was created in the early 90 s; the
industry s process was stagnant and paper intensive. Prior to eLoanDocs system the mortgage industy
consisted of a fax, mail, and an in person review. A mortgage loan and final closing procedure would
take around 90 days. It would also oblige a mortgage lender to generate final documents manually and
then send it over to a title company prior to the scheduled closing date. It was clear that as technology
was changing businesses also had to adapt. The company s Chief Technology Officer considered the
the cloud as a new system. He considered this system since it would be efficient and affordable in
comparison to the industries prior one. It was at this time where eLoansDocs had become the pioneer
in its industry. The company decided to differentiate themselves to other competitors in its market and
raise its market share. The company was growing at a fast rate. A few years had gone by and the

29. The Importance Of Music In Education
Music has always been and still is one of the greatest heritage that we have as a human being, that s
the reasons why people called it the universal language of humankind. No matter where we are music
is always there around us and that show s how important music is for us human beings. Without
music, we don t have the way to express our feeling with, technically life will be dulled without any
music.
By saying that, we need to understand that music is one of the essential tools for children development
and it also helps their brain function. Through music, children learn how to communicate their
thoughts and their feelings. According to (Cecil Fizdale 1991 in The Arts and Early Childhood) state
that Children s ability and need to express feelings fully and freely with their bodies makes movement
and dance a vital part of any educational program.
Young children love to sing, they love hearing their own voices by experimenting with different
melody, tone, and rhythm. That s one of many ways younger children learn how to play. When a softer
and soothing music is playing during the day, children tend to be more relaxed and quiet. Music is a
primary experience for us human. This is why music should be the important subject to have in early
childhood curriculum.
Greata (2006) talk about the ideas of Edwin Gordon, a researcher in music education, tells us that: if a
child is not stimulated in a particular area such as music, she will lose some of her natural potential in

30. The Most Important Aspects Of Family Values
Everyone has values that they consider to be the most important aspects of their life. For me, these
values are family and friendship. In many occasions, it is those who have less, but have strong familial
and friendship bonds that seem to be the happiest. Through family bonds and friendship, we are able
to have happy, fulfilling lives that money and success can not quite achieve. In the CASL building,
during the photowalk, I observed my surroundings to find the photos that I took. In the photos I took,
a Macbeth poster and a quinceañera, we can see why I feel that these bonds are of utmost importance.
The Macbeth poster shows that power comes with a price and cannot bring true happiness through the
facial expression and the skull being in the shape of a crown. While the quinceañera photo shows that
having family and friends surrounding you can bring you happiness. However, the music videos that
were viewed in class display different values from my own. In these, the core values displayed are
black empowerment and bringing awareness to discrimination that the African American community
face as a whole. Although these are vastly important, they do not connect fully with my values.
In the first photo taken, we are able to see why family and friendship are the most significant values.
The photo is of a quinceañera that is taking place at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church. In
the photo, we see the girl being blessed by the priest while all of her family and friends watch

Rhapsody In Blue
George Gershwin s Rhapsody in Blue is one of those timeless classics that is instantly recognizable to
many people s ears today, even ninety years after it was first introduced to the world. It is a piece that
has found its way into contemporary movies and advertisements, making it likely as recognizable as
Chopin s Funeral March or Beethoven s Fifth Symphony. But unlike these two pieces of iconic
classical music, Rhapsody in Blue resists classification. 1 In it are elements of classical music, blues

composition. 2 Indeed, while Rhapsody became a popular hit in the ... Show more content on

with even Leonard Bernstein writing for The Atlantic in 1955:
Rhapsody in Blue is not a real composition in the sense that whatever
