Career Goals Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Career Goals" can be both challenging and introspective.
The difficulty lies not only in the articulation of your aspirations but also in presenting them in a
coherent and compelling manner. You find yourself navigating through the delicate balance of
ambition and realism, trying to convey your passion while remaining grounded in the practicality
of your goals.
Expressing your career objectives requires a deep self-reflection, forcing you to confront
questions like where you see yourself in the future, what milestones you hope to achieve, and
how you plan to make a meaningful impact. It demands a thoughtful exploration of your skills,
values, and experiences that have shaped your professional aspirations.
Moreover, the challenge extends to the need for precision in language and organization. You
must carefully choose your words to convey sincerity and determination without sounding
clichГ©d or overly grandiose. The structure of the essay becomes crucial, as you strive to create
a logical flow that guides the reader through your past, present, and future, illuminating the path
you wish to traverse in your career.
Additionally, there's the pressure to differentiate yourself from others who may share similar
ambitions. The essay becomes a unique canvas where you paint a vivid picture of your
individuality and the distinctive journey that has led you to formulate these specific career goals.
However, despite the challenges, this essay is an opportunity for self-discovery and growth. It
compels you to refine your vision, setting the stage for actionable steps toward your professional
objectives. While it may be a daunting task, the process itself is invaluable in clarifying your
ambitions and fostering a deeper understanding of your own aspirations.
In conclusion, navigating the intricacies of a "Career Goals" essay is no small feat. It requires a
delicate balance of self-reflection, articulate expression, and strategic presentation. Yet, it's in
overcoming these challenges that you not only produce a compelling essay but also gain a clearer
understanding of your own path forward.

The American Dream In Finding Forrester
Dreams are what drive people to better themselves and force them to move past
difficulties in pursuit. For many of the characters in Finding Forrester, dreams are
a pillar, just as they are for Jamal, a young man at risk of becoming another statistic
in his neighborhood despite hidden writing potential. His polar opposite, William
Forrester, realizes this when a break in turns into a writing lesson. Forrester is the
author of the great book of the 20th century called Avalon Landing, the only book he
ever publishes. Robbie Brown, who plays Jamal, describes Jamal s feeling of having
guidance in Movielocity s review of Finding Forrester, No one has ever read his work
with a critical eye before Forrester. It s like a dream, having someone he... Show more

For Jamal this dream is to write. A simple ambition with little direction to begin,
encouragement from an unexpected, but beneficial friend, leads to a blossoming
of potential in Jamal. This skill is especially prominent when Jamal s test scores
come back. Everyone is surprised at the excellence they show from a student who
does just enough to get by, but they open doors Jamal had never considered for
himself. A full scholarship to the prestigious private school, Mailor Callow, being
at the top of the list. Having this opportunity presented to him is a shock to Jamal,
who simply knew he loved to read and write. Now, having to consider his options,
Jamal reflects upon them. Either he can either continue at his present school and
maintain his status with the same assumptions involving his race and economic
status to be made about him or he can pursue his dreams. But the decision and how
he will use the opportunity are left up to the only person that can truly impact his
dreams, Jamal himself. In the end, opportunity wins out and Jamal chooses to attend
the school and begin his new path. Such a path may not have been possible at all
without the help of William Forrester. Forrester brings out Jamal s intelligence and
Jamal brings Forrester back into life, says Rob Brown. They need each other in a way
they never imagined, (Movielocity, 2001, p. 2). Both individuals assist and
encourage each other s dreams. Forrester s method and help is obvious throughout
the movie while Jamal s effect on Forrester is more subtle. The one instance of
Jamal directly influencing Forrester is when, on Forrester s birthday, Jamal attempts
to take him to a basketball game. Hundreds of people are in attendance and after
years of isolation, the crowd is frightening to Forrester. Jamal redeems the evening by
taking him to an empty Yankee Stadium, where some of Forrester s better memories

The Dangers of Cell Phone Use
Emily Schneider Mr. McBride CP English 11 10 January 2011 Cell Phones
Negatively Impacting High School Life Two forty p.m. is probably the most
anticipated time of the day for students during the school year. As soon as the final
bell rings, students immediately reach into their pockets, backpacks, or purses and
pull out their cell phones. One day, while leaving school, I witnessed a student
furiously texting as she walked down the hallway, unaware of the door opening
towards her. The door then slammed into her and knocked her off her feet, all
because she was paying attention to her cell phone and not to where she was going.
While most teenagers can probably relate to this story because of a similar
experience, the utility and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is therefore affecting their performance in school because students are
overtired during the school day. (Hafner, Texting 1). Overall, psychologists and
physicians are concerned about this phenomenon saying that it is leading to
anxiety, distraction in school, sleep deprivation, and most of all, declining grades
(Hafner, Texting 1). What will our future look like in 10 or 20 years? At the end of
2009, the number of cell phone users around the world increased to 4.6 billion. By
the end of 2010, the counts were projected to hit 5 billion (Whitney, 5 Billion ).
With this many people using cell phones, the risks associated with driving
distracted, health issues, and declining grades will certainly become more
prominent. Driving will become even more dangerous until official laws are
passed, causing increased anxiety for parents of teens getting ready to drive on
their own. Also, over the next decade or so, it is projected that health issues linked
to cell phones use will become more common and may prove to be life threatening.
Finally, our generation and future generations will most likely have a lower success
rate in not only high school, but possibly even the completion of college. Unless
major limitations are put on cell phone usage, our universe may be in for many
challenges regarding health and safety in future years to come. Works Cited Car
The Pros And Cons Of The Camp Israel
The threat of radical Islam and the deadlock in the Washington conferences forced the
Rabin govt. to change the Israeli rejection to negotiate with the Palestine Liberation
Organization (PLO). Subsequently, secret negotiations talks initiated between the
Israel and the PLO, which were held in Oslo, Norway. On 13 September 1993, in
Washington both the Israeland the PLO singed the Declaration of principles. In the
declaration both states mutually recognized each other. It stated that during the 5
year period Israel would withdraw its military from the Jericho and the Gaza Strip,
also with its additional withdrawals from unspecified areas of the west bank. The
declaration also stated the other key issues like territories to be surrendered by Israel,
the status of Jerusalem, water rights, nature of Palestinian entity to be created, the
refugee problem and the future of Israeli settlers were kept aside for the final status
talks.
In 1994 Palestinian Authority (PA) was formed by the PLO, which had the self
governing powers in the areas, which were being redeveloped by the Israeli forces.

The Palestinians and most of the Muslim world did not accept this stance. Arafat left
the Camp David among his constituents, as he did not bend to the American and
Israel pressure. When Barak returned home he faced political crisis in his own
government, also the departure of coalition partners as they felt that Barak had
offered too much to the Palestinians. The Israelis came to realize that they would not
achieve peace if they kept insisting on imposing the terms on the Palestinians;
majority of the population began to believe that if this were the case, they would
have to learn to live with the conflict
Doublethink In George Orwell s 1984
1984 It was not easy to preserve inscrutability when you did not know what your
face looked like. In any case, mere control of the features was not enough. For the
first time he perceived that if you want to keep a secret you must also hide it from
yourself. You must know all the while that it is there, but until it is needed you must
never let it emerge into your consciousness in any shape that could be given a name.
From now onwards he must not only think right; he must feel right, dream right. And
all the while he must keep his hatred locked up inside of him like a ball of matter
which was part of himself and yet unconnected with the rest of him, a kind of cyst

The mental change from unorthodoxy to orthodoxy that arose in Winston as a
result of the torture he underwent could serve as an another example of the Party s
power over its citizens. Who controls the past ... controls the future: who controls
the present controls the past...We, the Party, control all records, and we control all
memories (Orwell, 205 206). Because of all the power the Party amassed, it was
able to control the minds and memories of its citizens, altering their perceptions of
the past. However, unlike his comrades, Winston was occasionally able to rely on
his memories and realize all the lies the Party was telling; for example, while many
citizens believed the Party s claim that it had invented the airplane, Winston was able
to draw on a memory from his childhood (before the Party took over) and conclude
that the Party had not invented the airplane. The fact that the Party was able to
completely change his mind and remove his orthodoxy (ultimately resulting in
Winston s profession of love for Big Brother), shows the non consensual intimacy
between the Party and its
Amazon Warrior Women Research Paper

The Accounting Firm Hatchet And Co
A) The accounting firm Hatchet Co ( Hatchet ), could be sued by Giant plc. ( Giant
), as in their audit, the company accounts has been overstated, causing initially a rise
in the shares value but then naturally a drastic fall when Giant was found to be
making losses. The accounting firm is also thought to be liable towards some
shareholders as Gloria and Henry, which lost the money they invested in the
company. Hatchet, being an Accounting firm and thus treated in the low of torts as a
professional entity has a duty of care towards the public limited company Giant under
the United Kingdom company law, and it could be sued for professional negligent
misstatement. Hatched might also be sued by Gloria and Henry which relied on the
accounts for their investments. The profit was accounted to be ВЈ10 million while
Giant was truly making losses, that drove the investments up and the director of
Giant invested $2 millions in a new venture while Henry and Gloria bought
respectively 10 000 and 1 000 shares more. Here, the claimants in order to succeed
have to show: The existence of a duty of care, which was owed to him by the
defendant Then they have to prove the breach of that duty by the defendant At the
end a damage caused by the negligent action, has to be proved by the claimants.
Now I will analyse if those three cases are likely to be happened in this situation. In
relation to the duty of care, it is fundamental to know that it depends on the judges to

Gail Sheehy s The Merry Adventures Of Robin Hood
Gail Sheehy said, If we don t change, we don t grow. If we don t grow, we aren t
really living. Robin Hood starts as a character that gets picked on and pressured by
others who has trouble understanding jokes and being warm and empathetic, but
when he finally shows that he can be warm, make friends and take risks, he begins
to change into an independent yet kind leader. These changes eventually lead to him
to realizing that life as a yeoman in the forest is the best, and that is the life he wants
to live. In The Merry Adventures of Robin Hoodby Howard Pyle, the protagonist
Robin Hood goes through many changes influenced by the experiences he has in

Studying The Chemistry And The Types Of Macro
Invertebrates
In previous studies, studying the chemistry and the types of macro invertebrates that
live in a pond or stream can indicate how clean the water is; according to the North
Carolina State university water quality group, stoneflies like water rich in dissolved
oxygen, cold in temperature and flowing through rocks (Osmond watersheds page 1).
In this lab, we went to two streams, cherry creek and bear creek. We took physical
Measurements like the width, depth, description of substrate and the site. This was
done for the upper, middle, and lower transect. and chemical measurements of the
streams like measuring pH, temperature, phosphate, nitrite, nitrate, ammonia,
dissolved O2, and dissolved solids. We also counted the macro invertebrates we
found and then we Identified the ones we found. With the data that we collected, we
hope to find out how does the water affect the types of macro invertebrates found in
the streamwhich brings up my hypothesis which is The more dissolved O2 found in
the water, we will find bioindicators that indicate clean water. I predict if there is
high amounts of O2 dissolved, then there will be presence of bio indicators that only
live in clean water. Our variables are water quality as our independent and our
dependent is the macro invertebrates.

Thank You for Our Project, Jessica
Hello again Jessica. I know I haven t exactly been keeping my promises on the due
dates and I m only fortifying the stigma that I touched on in my last email but I ve
still got a few questions. (Did you get my last email, by the way?) Anyway, would
you just like me to submit what I have? I have well over two minutes and way
more than five angles. Sound has also been added and mixed. The entire movie,
however, is not finished. It should give you enough to grade or at least be a worthy
placeholder until I can really submit a product I m not totally disappointing with. I
know it may be hard to even fathom what could possibly be taking so long but I ve
been mulling over several other things regarding this project.
One of the reasons I can t seem to get anywhere and one of the areas I m constantly
getting hung up on is the nature and tone of the project itself.
I wanted to establish a sort of creepy and unsettling mood for the project and I can t
achieve what I was originally visioning in my head. Some of the animations
employed simply seem to make their scene seem frivolous, silly, and awkward. I may
spend up to an hour or two just trying to figure out how to make the seemingly
insignificant feel right.
Another issue that I m having is that there are several frame rate and frame jump
mishaps that have occurred during the initial picture taking. Sometimes the character
will jump from one shot to another and, subsequently, the scene appears
Pituitary Adenomas
RATIONALE AND JUSTIFICATION OF STUDY
Pituitary adenomas are one of the most common intracranial tumors and constitute
10% to 20% of all primary brain tumors. They are generally classified as either
functioning or nonfunctioning, with functioning (secretory) adenomas representing
approximately 70% of all pituitary tumors1, 2.
Clinically, pituitary adenomas present with a classic semiologic triad related to
hypersecretion, hypopituitarism, mass effect (headache, visual disturbances, and
hydrocephalus) or as incidentalomas discovered during neuroimaging for the
management of other disorders; occasionally pituitary apoplexy, or rarely as

Current therapeutic options include medical, surgical and radiotherapeutic methods
with the latter being rapidly replaced by radiosurgery. Pituitary tumors are well
suited for radiosurgery, since radiation can be focused on a well circumscribed
region, while adjacent neural structures in the suprasellar and parasellar regions are
spared 1, 2, 4 8.
Stereotactic radiosurgery uses sophisticated 3 D computerized imaging to precisely
target an ionizing ray and deliver a high concentrated dose of radiation to the lesion.
Stereotactic radiosurgery differs and is advantageous over conventional surgery
because there is no incision involved and general anesthesia is not required for adults,
and short treatment duration amongst others4, 5.
The expected dominance of the time honoured microscopic pituitary surgery
technique as the gold standard for pituitary surgery seems to be fading out while the
endoscopic techniques are on a rise. Microsurgical resection alone provides a long
term tumor control rate of only 50% to 80% and a long term remission rate of
endocrinologic normalization after surgical resection that often falls short of
expectations. Reoperation for residual or recurrent tumors is associated with the more
difficult complete resection and the endoscopic method alone is insufficient to solve
all problems associated with these cases6. Hence the need for a complementary
Characteristics Of North America
North Americas topography consists of mountain ranges, coast and beaches, large
lakes, and volcanoes. Our mountain ranges are the Appalachian mountians in the
East and the Rockies in the west. Our east coast is mainly flat. The Mississippi and
Missouri river flow through a lot of North America and flow out into the Gulf of
Mexico. Large lakes are mainly in the midwest or central area. Lastly, the volcanoes
that are apart of North Americaare founded in California, Oregon, and Washington
State. South America is very similar in many ways with mountain ranges, beautiful
coast and beaches, and lastly rivers. They also have the Pacific Ocean and Atlantic
Ocean, but the also have the CaribbeanSea. Their main mountain is the Andes. With
many highlands surrounding like the Brazillan and Guiana. They are most famous
for their river, The Amazon, which is the largest in the world. Although, Eruope is
over the ocean is also consists of many mountains, but has many beaches, seeing it
is bordered by five different oceans/seas. They are the Atlantic to the West, Arctic
to the North, Mediterranean to the South, and lastly the Black and Caspian sea
which are at the eastern borders. They also have a major river as well the Volga.
The topography of these countries are very similar, but their historical is different.
The history behind North America goes way back and has been told in many
different ways. But it was originally inhabited by Native Americas. These people
migrated during the end
Congress Rule 1937
Government of India Act, 1935:
The Government of India Act, 1935 was formulated after long deliberations but was
not fully promulgated but the only provincial part was introduced in the country, the
central part was not introduced. The British govt deliberated on it and then the British
parliament passed this law and then the king signed this law and this became the govt
of India Act of 1935, under which the elections of 1937 would be held elections
were held. The Muslim League criticized this law for a number of reasons and the
same was the case with the Congress party but agreed to contest provincial elections
to make advantage of the opportunities being provided under the govt of India Act.

[edit]The Muslim League
The election results were a blow to the League. After the election,Muhammad Ali
Jinnah of the League offered to form coalitions with the Congress. The League
insisted that the Congress should not nominate any Muslims to the ministries, as it
(the League) claimed to be the exclusive representative of Indian Muslims. This was
not acceptable to the Congress, and it declined the League s offer.
Projection of Congress:
The Congress projected itself as an all India force representing all religions and
factions of the society. The Muslim League contested for the Muslim seats. The ML
focused only on the Muslims because it claimed to be the sole representative of the
Muslims. There was a tough competition from the other Muslim organizations in
different provinces which were also claiming to be the representatives of the
Muslims. In this way the ML was not only competing with the Congress only but
with a number of other Muslim groups and political parties at the provincial level.
The elections were completed in February 1937. And if we look at the results of
these elections we
Essay on Pepe le Moko
Julien Duvivier s film PГ©pГ© le Moko is a remarkable story, and a powerful
personal account of French colonial life. The socio political subtext of the story is an
important one, which brings to the forefront the particular allure of
Casbah and the idiosyncrasies of its inhabitants. This subtext of the narrative connotes
the desire and fascination with the exotic. Jean Gabin s character is a thief, who while
running from the law becomes immersed in the maze of the city of Casbah. In light of
Edward Said s ideas of Orientalism, specifically in terms of the cultural exchanges
that take place in the affiliation of colonialism, the foreign element (as an other ) can

The intersection of this similarity is in the fact that the girlfriends taken by most of
the members of his gang are native women, and correspondingly the way that the
native women are shown occasionally as prostitutes. The magnetism that is created
around PГ©pГ© and Gaby is related to this. His fascination with her is an
exhibition of his longing for the familiarity of Paris and the sanctity of his past, a
familiarity that is distant to him in Casbah. In her, PГ©pГ© is reminded of life
outside the walls of Casbah. His gradual rejection of Ines in favor of Gaby suggests
his shifting disposition and his consuming desire for Paris, possibly even a disgust
of the colonialist enterprise on a deeper level. Gaby s jewelry is a constant
reminder of these ideas. The diamond is one of the most readily identifiable symbols
of the colonial process, a reminder of the exploitation of resources by the British in
South Africa. Gaby is attracted to PГ©pГ© in a similar way. The radical distinction
that he embodies as a gangster differentiates him from the upper class, mainland
Frenchmen that she would typically be acquainted with.
The fragility of PГ©pГ© s relationship with Gaby is that it is on the verge of
intangibility. On the average day she could just as easily be his victim, as the cash
value of her jewels are the main focus of the gang.

Four Poems Analysis For the duration of this essay I will be analysing four poems
by looking at the speaker, diction, imagery, tone, and message in each of the four
poems. The poems are: Cross by: Langston Hughes; Desert Places by: Robert Frost;
Up Hill by: Christina Rossetti; and Fire and Ice by: Robert Frost.
Cross, by Langston Hughes, is about a son who has a white father and a black
mother. The son, who is the narrator, tells the story of his mother and father and
different worlds they came from. The author employs imagery to compare how his
mother and father lived and died and to convey to the reader his alienation from both
of them. He refers to his father as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem is a first person narrative, where the author is the speaker. Frost uses
words such as fire and ice to as a metaphor to describe the different manners in
which the world will end; through the fire of passion or the ice of hatred. Frost
uses a unique rhyme scheme to help lighten the subject and disguise the
conversation as playful. The imagery in the poem helps Frost tell the reader about
how he would hold with those who favor fire. / But if it had to perish twice/... that
for the destruction of ice/... would suffice. By answering, if the world would end
two times, ice would suffice shows how Frost treats even the most serious issues as
if they were nothing but a grain of sand. This response also leads to the tone of the
story, which is cynical and dark. The message of the poem, to me, is that it does not
really matter how the world will end, and to speculate about it is
Indian Steel Industry
INTRODUCTION
Indian Steel Industry
India s economic growth is very much dependent upon the growth of the Indian steel
industry. One of the major indicator of economic development has always been the
consumption of steel. Steel is an essential element in sectors such as housing,
construction and land transportation, special steel s use is growing in engineering
industries such as power generation, petrochemicals and fertilizers. India is at the
central position on the global steel map, with the establishment of new steel mills,
continuous modernization and upgrading old plants, improving backward integration
and energy efficiency.
Steel production in India has increased by a compounded annual growth rate
(CAGR) of 8 % over the period 2002 03 to 2006 07. Growth in India is subjected to
be higher than the world average, as the per capita consumption of steel in India, at
around 46 kg, whereas the world average (150 kg) and that of developed countries
(400 kg). Indian demand is projected to rise to 200 million tonnes by 2015.
Considering the strong demand scenario, most global steel players are aiming for a
major expansion, either through Brownfield or Greenfield route. By 2020, steel
production capacity in India is expected to touch 275 million tones. Greenfield
projects and Brownfield projects are estimated to add 28.7 million tones and 40.5
million tones respectively to the existing capacity of 55 million tonnes.

Compression Stockings Affect The Clothes On The Body
Compression hose also called compression stockings are specialized hosiery that is
designed to help improve the circulation in the legs to prevent venous disease such
as swelling, varicose veins and blood clots. They are made from elastic, and
compress the legs to help the muscles keep the blood flowing back to the lungs and
heart.
Venous insufficiency occurs when there is too much pressure on the veins in the
legs so that the wall of the vein becomes weak and the tiny valves inside the veins
stop working properly. This results in the bloodpooling in the vein causing it to bulge
and twist. Compression hose helps reduce the pressure in the veins and prevents the
veins from shutting down. They force the blood to pass through narrower channels, ...

They are prescribed to treat lymphatic and venous drainage of the leg. They also
have distributed pressure from the ankle to the thigh, and are most often prescribed
for people who do not walk.
Compression stockings are also used by athletes in the hope they will improve the
efficiency of the muscles. While this may or may not be true, many athletes have
anecdotal evidence that they benefit from the stockings.
Both types of compression hose come in knee high or thigh high length. Knee high
is considered the best choice for prevention of deep vein thrombosis. They are also
more comfortable. However, this is a decision that may be made by our specialist.
Compression stockings may have a circular knit that is more attractive or a flat knit
that has a seam and is mostly used for high compression purposes. Compression
stockings may also be custom made for a specific individual. Support hose has mild
compression that is more for prevention than therapy and is sold over the counter.
If you believe you are beginning to develop varicose veins or have any symptoms of
venous insufficiency, compression stockings may be right for
Rachel Giese Article Analysis
In Rachel Giese s article, How Energy Drink Companies Prey on Male Insecurities
(2015), she addresses that energy drinks companies are using different kind of tactics
such as using super athletes who drink energy beverages to fool insecure men into
using their products to make them feel manlier. However, these energy drinks had a
bad influence on people s health both psychologically and physically. In fact, drinking
energy beverages can cause sleep disturbance in the long run. Giese is a deputy editor

her career. She had written many articles of men uncertainties, which made her have

I think this kind of supporting ideas makes this article more effective on the reader
and makes them agree with the author because it gives something for the reader to
relate to. For example, according to Giese (2015) a fourteen year old boy in
Norway was hospitalized with kidney failure after consuming four liters of energy
drinks during a sixteen hour Call of Duty session (para.10) This example proves
the fact that energy drinks have bad effects when drinking it in big doses. Her
usage of this particular event is very effective because it made other people feel
really angry at these companies because they are risking young men s health just to
gain a little profit. This event made the readers sympathetic toward the family of that
child and all the other victims of those outrageous acts which made them willing to
join this cause with the author. Moreover, after approaching sixteen companies, she
found out that only four of them avoid marketing their products to children (Giese,
para 10, 2015). This fact made the author very disappointed with the industry since
they are willing to risk these children s lives just to gain profit. This made her more
determined to aware people and parents about the dangers of drinking energy drinks,
especially for children and their
Medical Marijuana Argumentative Analysis
Abstract: The time has come for marijuana to be legalized throughout the United
States. Marijuana sales bring in millions of dollars. Medicinal marijuana has been
shown to slow down or even sometimes stop the growth of lung cancer cells. In the
case of marijuana, the benefits far exceed the risks.
Marijuana is the dried leaves and flowers of the hemp plant that are smoked as a
drug. It is one of the most controversial topics in the United States but it should be
legalized everywhere. Some states have legalized marijuana in some fashion
whether it is for recreational or medical use. There are still numerous states where it
has not been legalized which is mind boggling to me. Marijuana sales can bring

How To Build A Fence Analysis
In the play Fences, everyone had their different perspective on how to build a
fence. To me it is actually not a fence. A fence i Fs either to keep someone in or to
keep something out. Cory wants to build a fence to keep his daddy in the house
because he is heavily on his back about things. Wilson said Troy says the garbage
sitting in there overflowing you aint done none of your chorus . Troy is saying
that the only thing cory wants to do is play football. He wants too keep Cory in.
Wilson states, All they wants is money . Cory wants to get a scholarship to go play

The Sustainability Of A Building
Politics is related to almost everything, and therefore, the economy also relates to
almost everything. Many things are done and decided based on the benefits received.
Either through the great profit they can make by using the limited resources we have
or by using the resources we have excessively and wastefully, without thinking of the
consequences it will have on us and for later generations. It is hard to find a balance
between sustainabilityand our economy. Economic growth however, also depends on
a sustaining and functional environment. LEED is an organization that does not
successfully evaluate the sustainability of a building. Instead some other
organizations does better at evaluating in detail and continuously of how it is
sustainable and how it has continued to be more eco friendly.
Politics is connected to natural resources, the issue of global warming, and
sustainability. In order for the economy to grow, it feeds on natural resources that
produces waste and pollutes the earth and the air. This threatens the environment and
the eco system in which our lives depend. The use of natural resources exceeds the
amount the earth can undertake and recover. And the foundation of all our economic
growth is built upon the counterbalance of the resources spent and recovered.
Therefore, it can be taken away anytime; when our planet can t supply and take the
amount we are asking from anymore, we would have lost everything, the economy,
environment and our lives.

Sociological Research On Social And Class Differences
Various statistical techniques are used in sociological research in order to study the
social world. These may include measures to describe data dispersion, as well as
analytical methods such as latent class analysis. Each technique can provide distinct
approaches to answering a research question, as they may emphasize specific factors
or lead to different ways to structure results. Consequently, it becomes particularly
important to consider one s choice of measures and methods, as depending on the
ones used, both the conclusion itself and interpretations of it may be affected, along
with wider understandings of social reality. To begin, quantitative social research
will often employ statistical measures to determine the central tendency of a given
dataset. These measures, including mean, median, and mode, are used to calculate
typical values of the center of a probability distribution. Since they are focused on
average values, measures of central tendency are useful tools in understanding the
typical situations or experiences of social groups. This makes them especially
helpful in understanding social inequality and class differences because they
facilitate comparison of data for multiple groups. For instance, to determine levels of
economic inequality in relation to gender, one could calculate the mean incomes of
males and females in a given city and compare them. However, it is crucial to
consider the effects of these different measures of central tendency, as the
Consumer Debt
U.S. consumers remain addicted to credit. Consumer debt continues to rise to record
levels and a significant number of households have lost control of their finances.
Credit cards can be a useful financial tool when used appropriately. However,
research clearly indicates that consumers are not using credit cardswisely and
consumers do not understand the terms and conditions of the credit cardcontract.
Adding to this public dilemma, the practices of numerous credit card issuers have
been described as predatory. The Credit CARD Accountability Responsibility and
Disclosure Act of 2009, also known as the Credit CARD Act of 2009, is the first
major reform of the credit card industry since the Truth in Lending Act of 1968. The

The Federal Reserve statistics indicate that the average U.S. household has a credit
card balance of $7,283 while the average indebted household has an outstanding
balance of $15,611 (Bricker, et al., 2014). Only home mortgages and student loans
exceed credit card balances. If consumers hope to create an appropriate level of
wealth to support themselves in the latter years of life and avoid counting on
government programs as their primary source of income, consumers will need to
save more of their income. Servicing credit card debt required approximately 13.9%
of consumer s disposable income in the fourth quarter of 2008 (Wilcox, Block,
Eisenstein, 2011). If these dollars were available as contributions into a retirement
account on behalf of the consumer, countless people would be confident about
their ability to save for an appropriate lifestyle in retirement. The abuse of credit
card usage may be caused by a lack of spending discipline, lack of information or a
lack of financial literacy, or a combination of the three. These shortfalls are
examined to determine if policy makers can intervene to motivate consumers to
generate improved decisions regarding the use of credit cards. The first step in this
process is having a basic understanding or knowledge of financial matters. The need
for improving financial literacy in America continues to grow as financial products
and services continue to become evolve in complexity. The Great Recession has
recently proved that financial literacy in this country has room for improvement at
all economic levels. The CARD Act required The Secretary of Education and the
Director of the Office of Financial Education of the Department of the Treasury to
coordinate with the President s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy to develop a
strategic plan to improve, expand and support financial

According to The Demise of Disciplinary Authority by Louis Menand academic
literary studies is more important than one may think. Menand claims that there is
two background categories condition for the academic. The first one is that
knowledge accumulates brick by brick. The second is the discipline of literary
studies. The author goes on to say that the literacy studies have existed since 1960.
There was a time in society when literature was not known as its own genre. The
author wants the readers to learn and understand that literature is itself genre.
Literature studies can be understood as an independent discipline. An author named
Levine argues in this article that the future does lie in interdisciplinary work. There
was a research done that showed that academic literacy studies became disconnected
from the institutional structure it inhabited. The American university was covering
up and enjoying a pergola of rapid expansion. The challenge of literacy studies was
that it could have simply been put in the existing system.
There were authors who will write about literature and their work would be looked
as if it had an influence on science. Derrida and Kuhn s were a big influence on
English professor because they open one mind that literature does not have essence
and that literary criticism is not science. The author also believes that people outside
the profession are not interested in literature and

going in clueless. Fortis college was my greatest experiance, with the most amazing

pharmacy that is needed. Being fast at what you do with know mistakes is a major
task to know in a pharmacy world. In retail pharmacy there are many prescriptions

commonality of innocence. The Romantic Child is the idea that children should have
the freedom to play, the love for childhood, to explore, and to imagine. They are

idea that children see what adults can t. As for the Sacred Child, the child is viewed as

Difference Between Pinned And Welded Brake
Removing pinned and welded muzzle devices with basic tools is not a difficult
process as long as you take the time to do it right. One of the first steps is to
determine whether the barrel has a pinned and welded muzzle brake. With the laws
set if you have a barrel shorter than sixteen inches then the muzzle break must be

Example if your barrel is fourteen and a half inches and you want to attach an inch

Weapons of the American Civil War Essay
Weapons of the American Civil War
Amongst the most lasting of factors stemming from the Civil War are the weapons
that were developed. Before the Civil War, the weapons used were highly unreliable,
and were not advanced enough to provide the needed defense for a young nation such
as our own. Innovative minds created many interesting ways to demolish their
enemies without ever having to fire a shot or go into full combat through different
types of bombs that were in disguise. Among the advancements in the Civil War were
the torpedo, the carbine rifle, the minie` ball, several models of rifle muskets, rocket

A few years of development and a patent later, the minie` ball was ready for combat.
In the 1850 s, James H. Burton, a master of arms, made a few alterations such as
slightly lengthening the bullet and thinning the walls of the hollow base. These
alterations made the minie` ball much easier and cheaper to mass produce; this is
what was used by the blue and gray s out on the battlefields.
The Union soldiers were more likely to carry the U.S. Model 1861 Springfield
Rifle Musket than any other weapon. These guns were not the easiest or most
convenient weapons even if they were the most common. The Model 1861 was a
.58 caliber gun, was 58.5 inches long, and weighed in at a heavy 9.25 pounds. This
rifle was nicknamed The Widow Maker. This nickname was made with great

Although she makes a somewhat valid argument, I find that there is much more to
this topic. Yes, body image is becoming more of an issue in today s world,

Raina Kelley comes off as very negative. Rather than invoking positive
reinforcement on the topic of beauty. She uses such context as yes, people can be
vicious in their categorization of women s looks; insult them back or ignore them.
I think it is fair to say most people are not going to agree with that statement. Most
of us grew up with our parents saying that two wrongs don t make a right. So if she
is trying to convince the audience to be on her side and agree I believe the way
she is going about it is completely wrong. In addition, one would believe that being
negative would hurt one s beauty standard. I find rude, and negative to be very
ugly because my view of beauty is that not only do looks have part to do with
beauty but what makes you up as a person in values is very important as well. Also,
she goes on to say in her article that most of the world s women aren t Vogue
approved hotties and still so many to manage to kick ass in law school, business
school and or medical school, and not by sitting in a plastic surgeon s office or the
gym all day. . I find that she has very little emotion towards the people she is writing
to nor just she care about what they think. So that alone may make the people not
want to read or even hear what she has to say. Additionally, she begins her article
talking about race, saying that as a rounded black woman with curly hair, the best she
can hope for is moderately
Analysis Of Allen Ginsberg s Howl
Hold back the edges of your gowns, Ladies, we are going through hell, (Sullivan 1)
as William Carlos Williams put it, in introducing the first edition of Allen Ginsberg
s Howl. Most famously known for Howl, Ginsberg was recognized for his obscene
and exaggerated writing style. With Edgar Allen Poe being a form of influence and
admiration in Ginsberg s eyes, it s understandable to see where he gets his inspiration.
Allen Ginsbergs work of literature is important because it challenges mainstream
societal values and gives a voice to those who struggle with repression by a
patriarchal agenda. Howl, Allen Ginsberg s best known poem was his most popular
and most controversial work of literature. This poem is separated into three
different parts. The title Howl is in reference to protest and cry for all exploitation
and repression. The poet asks the reader to cry against capitalism (Howl 7 8).
Ginsberg was a headstrong social and political activist during his time. He related to
the free spirited hippie generation and the make love, not war movement. He also
revolted against mainstream American culture as a way to challenge other civilian s
mindsets. Calling Howl a story isn t accurate, its more Ginsberg describing his
environment and his subjects on paper. The first line begins with, I saw the best
minds of my generation destroyed by madness.... (Ginsberg Howl 1). The minds that
he is writing about are that of his fellow friends, acquaintances and literary

Snake Island Manipulation
Manipulation is the crux of fiction; the Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio are no
different. The manipulation in Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio, specifically in
the stories of Rouge and Snake Island, occurs as characters manipulate each other.
This manipulation follows societal classes, as those othered by society manipulate the
virtuous and elite, thus setting up a societal struggle defined by manipulation. The
marginalized and elite form classes of people, thus making this societal struggle
synonymous with a class struggle. Furthermore, through literary devices, including
sentence syntax and alliteration, the tales of Rouge and Snake Island celebrate

When initially describing Big Mao, Pu says that Big Mao is disreputable character
who had already made several fruitless attempts to seduce Madame Wang, and a an
unscrupulous rogue, the worst kind of street thug, both of which directly assert
that Big Mao is flawed character (411, 418). In addition to the direct descriptor that
proves he is disreputable, the author uses an alliteration and lengthens the sentence
to emphasize Big Mao s flaws. First, when initially describing him, the author says
there lived in the district a disreputable character, which alliterates d to emphasize
Big Mao s reputation (411). Also, in the same sentence, Pu Songling introduces
Big Mao by first describing where Big Mao lived and his nature and then
awkwardly adding that he goes by the name of Big Mao. (411) This strange
sentence syntax stresses the importance of Big Mao s nature which when coupled
with the alliteration prove that Big Mao, the other man who manipulates Rouge, is
not virtuous; because Big Mao lacks virtue, he is flawed character, and thus he
differs from the societal norms and, when compared to Rouge, a member of the
lower class. Since, Rouge symbolizes the upper class and conflicts with Big Mao and

History Of Roman And Greek Culture
It is the constant aim of the management to prevent the use of a single word,
expression, or situation that will offend the intelligent, refined and cultured classes
(Stein 23). This is the motto of Mr. Chase s Original Idea: Polite Vaudeville, a then
unheard of yet soon widely popular subcategory of vaudeville theater in the early
1900s until the 1930s. In many places and in many time periods in the world, it is
found that theater is not only considered prominent in culture but is often integral.
This can be seen especially in ancient Roman and Greek culture, as the combination
of theater, music, and dance were significant.
Rome has been a place of passionate, bustling life for more than 2,000 years. This
trend started when the huge city was founded in 753 B.C.E. Theater has been an
essential part of Roman culture since this time, and expressive plays and musicals
were performed regularly. Roman plays were often performed in temporary wooden
theaters in earlier times, until Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus, better known as Pompey
the Great (a military and bureaucratic leader), built the first stone theater in Rome.
This theater, known as the Theatre of Pompey, could hold up to 11,000 spectators
and was hugely popular during its high point. The theater was built in 55 B.C.E. and
is considered the first permanent theater built in Rome. Two stone theaters were built
after that: the Theater of Balbus and the Theater of Marcellus, both built in 13 B.C.E.

In Oregon, Beriso Tusse and his associates at BTL Company, P C, Tax and
Accounting, help self employed tax payers receive all of the deductions that they
are due. Filing your income taxes as a self employed worker can be difficult, and
many cost saving deductions can be missed. By finding a Tax Preparer or accountant
in your state who understands self employment, your owed taxes can decrease each
year.
What is the Self Employed Health Insurance Deduction?
More than tn million tax payers in the United States are self employed, and most of
them have access to specific deductions and benefits that were created for their
unique income tax filing status. The Self Employed Health Insurance Deduction is
one of those money saving tools that all self employed workers should be taking
advantage of. Those who are self employed, and file their taxes accordingly, may
claim the expenses of health insurance that they incurred for themselves and their
spouse or children.
Who Can Use this Tax Deduction?
If you are self employed, it is likely that you either report your income on a
Schedule F Form for farming and agriculture, or a Schedule C Form for non
agricultural income. Both of these types of tax payers may use the Self Employed
Health Insurance Deduction.

Gender Diversity Case Study
Introduction
Diversity can be defined as the differences among the people working in the same
workplace. Those differences can be related to gender, race, religion, marital status,
sexual orientation, culture or personalities.
Managing diversity within organisation is about recognising this range of
differences in people and valuing people as individuals, respecting their differences
and their differing needs. It is also about accommodating differences wherever
possible so that an individual can play a full part in the working environment
(Daniels and Macdonald, 2005)

from higher education has resulted in a movement of change within businesses, ...

Send forth the boys, said Golda Meir in,1972. The Munich Massacre had just
happened and all around the world people were in hysteria and disbelief. The Israeli
people were in shock, but it didn t take long to retaliate. When Meir said these words
it set in motion the operation, Operation Wrath of God. Operation Wrath of God gave
justice to the Jews after the Munich Massacre.
Israel is a small country formed in 1948, after World War II ended. David Ben

There was eight Palestinian terrorists who killed two members of the Israeli
Olympic team; because they were Jewish. This attack started at five in the
morning. Eight Palestinian members jumped a six foot fence to where the Israeli
contingent were staying. At about 4:30am the terrorist entered the building that
the Israelis stayed in; apartment one and three. A few Israelis put up a fight, the
two lost in the men and were killed right away. Some escaped from the terrorist, but
nine were taken hostage. Around 5am police arrived and the news spread across
the world like a burning fire in a dead forest. At about 5:30 the terrorist decided to
state their demands to the world, by dropping a list out of the window, to the
police down below. Their demands were high and were not going to be meet. They
wanted 234 prisoners released from Israeli prison and two from a German prison by
9am that day. The terrorist soon started extending the deadline until 5pm, by 5pm
they realized their demands would not be met. They then decided to ask for two
planes to Cairo, Egypt. German officials thought of the idea as fine until the decided
that they could not leave Germany. After a couple of ideas they came up with
Operation Sunshine; they would storm the apartment. But, being ignorant they
announced the plan on TV and the terrorist figured it out, by watching the TV in the

The And Of A Bernoulli Random
Abstract
Abstract here
Humans, and animals, often perceive events as being random. Many lab oratory and
controlled studies have been conducted over the last half century to determine human
ability to detect whether a particular string of events is random. Often, these studies
consist of detecting whether some binary sequence has the properties of a bernoulli
random variable. From the re sults of these studies, we can conclude experimental
subjects hold the Law of
Small Numbers (Tversky Kahneman, 1971) to be true. Particularly, many studies
have found humans have a skewed perception of and researchers do not understand
randomness. In this paper, we seek to answer three focused questions: 1. Can
randomness be defined, and if so, how can humans determine whether a sequence
is random?
2. What have previous studies concluded with regard to decision makers skill in
determining whether a sequence is random?
3. Are we able to develop a rigorous, mathematical argument regarding randomness?
Before we begin to answer these questions, we will present definitions from the
literature to facilitate the discussion.
1
1 Definitions
Two ubiquitous concept used in studies of randomness are the gambler s fal lacy and
the hot hand. Using the definitions from Oskarsson, van Boven,
McClelland, and Hastie (2009), we will define the gambler s fallacy as the
judgement the streak will end. The gambler s fallacy is also known as neg ative
recency. The hot hand is the judgement that a streak will
Butler s Argumentative Analysis
Butler finished last season with seven tackles for a loss and three sacks. With the
departures of Caleb Azubike and Stephen Weatherly, that makes him the second
highest returning Commodore behind only Zach Cunningham.
Adam Butler has been willing to move around to help the team where needed. After
a true freshman season on the offensive line, he moved to defensive tackle in 2013
and earned five starts in 13 games. As a redshirt sophomore, he played in all 12
games, including nine starts at defensive end. Last year Butler moved back to
defensive tackle where he finished with 18 tackles and three sacks against SEC
competition.

Sure Thing Essay
Sure Thing In David Ives short one act comedy play Sure Thing he examines a
number of variations in which a conversation between a guy and girl could take
place. Theme, setting, plot, characters all of these things are essential to the
understanding and captivation of the audience. With every exchange of
conversation there is the ability to regain a fresh start by getting a second chance
to make a good impression. The setting of this play is simple, a coffee shop. The
setting is perfect for what Ives is trying to portray. Most people have had a
conversation in a coffee shop with a stranger that they walk away from and wish they
had said something different. Coffee shops are small, quite and conversation inviting.

Unit 13 P1:
Security:
Security protects organisation or properties from an individual without authorisation.
Security protects your computer from assault, theft and fraud etc. In business there
needs to be a document stating how the company can protect their information
technology and the company s material. This all needs to be written down. The
company s security policy is always updated because of the employee and
technology. There are many security threats on the internet, here are a few of them:
Identity theft:
Identity theft is when a criminal gets hold of your personal information. For example
bank account details.
Virus:
Virus is a code that attacks the network system and computer. This happens because
the data files are contaminated and this is done on a system through the internet or
disk. The virus tries to hid it self and send it self to others. The virus is harmful to
your computer.
Trojan:
Trojan is a virus that makes the user believe that it is good for their computer and this
virus is hard to remove this treat.
Trend analysis:
Trend analysis predicts the potential movements of a stock that is based on past
data. There are different types of charts that you can create. For instances you can
make a chart Traders get an idea of what might happen in the future, they get this
idea from what has happened before in the past. The three types of trends are long,
short, and intermediate term. Trend analysis is good because it does not go against
them but rather it

memories, I wouldn t mind forgetting this one.
One night, my aunt invited my family and me to the circus. Most of the show
consisted of a man, dressed up as different characters, performing skits; I wasn t
impressed but the ringmaster had promised that he would perform hypnosis on
audience members later in the show. The ringmaster, Professor Alfa , was taking
volunteers that would be willing to be hypnotized. My loving, considerate family told
him that I d like to be hypnotized. Being a skeptic, I was willing to risk getting
embarrassed to prove to my family that the ringmaster s
Film Review of Her
Is love a capability unique to humans, or are there no restrictions? And if there are no
restrictions, what determines whether that love can last? Her is a quirky, truly 21st
century story that breaks barriers by asking not who, but rather what we can love. Set
in Los Angeles in the unspecified near future, Theodore, a lonely writer in the midst
of a divorce, stumbles into an unprecedented romance with his Operating System,
Samantha. The film raises scientific, philosophical, and even moral questions, while
never straying from its true purpose, which is to examine not only the way we love,
but the way we interact with other people in a world that seems to rely more and
more on technology to function. Writer and Director Spike Jonzeinvites the audience
to have open mind and undergo an individual exploration to these questions through
the eyes of the characters. The film showcases the infusion of technology into our
lives and the challenges it creates for the way we look at the world.
The unconventional nature of Theodore and Samantha s relationship is what drives
them both together and apart. It sets limitations on their abilities as a couple, but
creates a bond that is extremely personal. The main limitation is the fact that
Theodore is only able to get to know Samantha by hearing her speak, since there is
no ability to see her or touch her. Samantha s voice is the perfect blend of innocence
and coy sexuality. There is certain rawness in the way she speaks that makes
What Is The Significance Of Frankie In The Housemaids
In part one of the book, the main character of the book is revealed. Her name is
Frankie, and she is a twelve year old girl who is struggling with growing up.
Frankie is at the point in her life where she is hitting puberty, yet she does not
understand she what exactly in going on with her body. All the years of her life
before, she had been like other people, but in the summer the story is set in, Frankie
began to feel and look different than her peers (20). In this summer, she hit a growth
spurt which has made her five feet five and three quarter inches tall (16). The
children in her neighborhood took notice of this change, and began to tease her for
being so much taller than them. This persistent teasing caused Frankie s self esteem
to quickly diminish.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of her low self esteem, Frankie holds on to even the slightest complement
someone gives her. This was exhibited by Frankie when she was retelling Bernice
what her brother s fiancГ©, Janice, said about her. Janice had simply complimented
Frankie s height by stating she was a lovely size and would probably not grow any
taller (31). Instead of retelling the compliment as it was stated, she elaborated it by
adding more than what was actually said. Bernice caught this serious fault, and told
Frankie that she was constantly building on to any little complement [she] hear[s]
about [her]self (31). I think Frankie elaborates compliments because she wants
people to think and feel certain things about her. She wants someone to tell her she is
pretty, picturesque, or kind, so she claims that people have said these things in hopes
of believing them herself. This is an effort to subconsciously make herself feel better
without directly admitting to herself that she feels
Homestuck Research Paper
Andrew Hussie: Taking Comics to a Different Level As someone who loves bright,
colorful visuals and dramatic design, graphic novels and comic books are some of
my favorite things to read. Web comics are one of the more accessible types of
comics, since they are generally free and can be read entirely online, and they
usually take the same form paper comics have taken for years: images arranged in
a grid on one standard size page. While this layout of comics is perfectly fine and
has been for decades, it doesn t take full advantage of the web format. Coded
webpages present a nearly endless number of ways to manipulate the images,
allowing artists to tell their stories in new and exciting ways, and yet most people
stick to the same format that s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That process is more than exemplified in his making of his most successful comic,
Homestuck. At over 8000 pages long, with over 800,000 words of narration and
dialogue, Homestuck is the longest web comic in existence, and according to Hussie
was started with little more planning than the thought it s a story about kids in houses
. Along with this, Homestuck is a story that goes beyond the traditional comic format,
becoming a truly multi media experience spanning the entire internet and beyond,
influenced by the massive community that became involved with it over its 7 year
span. Besides just still images, Hussie s comic is filled with colorful animations in
many of its panels, along with videos and interactive games accompanied by a
wide array of music. In fact, over 26 albums total were produced by Hussie s web
store turned record label for the comic. This is something that, while other artists had
likely attempted it in some way, no other comic had had such a large success with,
and in turn had such a wide influence on the web comic community. Beyond just the
images on the page, Hussie also manipulates webpages themselves, going as far as to
completely change the color and format of the page to manipulate the narrative
mechanic and add to the story, as shown in the pictures
The Purpose Of Al-Ghazali The Niche Of Lights
Al Ghazali, The Niche of Lights
Introduction
The understanding and explanation of God and who He is, is a task that many
philosophical and religious scholars have tried without much success. This is because
questions keep arising. Several approaches have been used by scholars and
philosopher to explain about God. Even so, most of these attempts to teach about God
encompass around his manifestation since none describes his physical appearance.
Additionally, in the Biblical texts as well as the Quran where Bible characters have
seen God, they have often used personifications to explain their encounter with God.
In this discussion, the study looks at understanding God as a manifestation of light.
Moreover, the study also looks at how impossible it is to understand God. The entire
review will be based on the Al Ghazali s statement that, So glory be to Him who is
hidden from creatures through the intensity of His manifestation and veiled from
them because of the radiance of His light! (I.65, p. 24 in our PDF). From this
statement, the study proves three things: God is manifestation since he can only be
described as such. God is light since He cannot be seen through human understanding
(eyes). And God is intensely manifested to the point that He is hidden because His
reality cannot be comprehended through human knowledge.
How God is manifestation or light, In the words of Al Ghazali, two things are
mentioned that characterizes God. The first is the manifestation of God. In this case,
he says that Glory should be to whom is hidden through His extreme manifestation.
In this case, what the text tends to suggest is that God can only be known or
described through his manifestation which hides his true self since his true self is
like a light that cannot be beheld or else it will hurt the eyes. The truth of this phrase
is in the fact that human ability cannot know God. It is because God is not easy to
comprehend. As such, the much that man can use to explain God, or the much that
God can use to reveal Himself to man is through manifesting Himself. The best
illustration to support this assertion can be found in the description in the Qur an
24:35 ( the Light verse ). This phrase states, God is the Light of
The Success of Stephanie Meyer Essay
I d never given much thought to how I would die, but dying in the place of
someone I love seems like a good way to go. Those are the famous words that
started it all, The Twilight Saga Phenomenon. The Twilight Saga consists of four
novels: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. Stephanie Meyer,
author of the popular saga, majored in English literature at Brigham Young
University. After graduating in 1997, Meyer chose to be a stay at home mother to
her three sons. The concept of the whole saga came to her in a dream one night.
When she woke up, she took a pen and paper and documented everything that
occurred in her dream. She then based all four novels on that dream because she had
a gut feeling that it was going to make a great... Show more content on

No one besides her sister knew that she was writing a novel, little known at the time,
but the masterpiece known as Twilight. Since Meyer is a mother of three, and is busy
with her kids needs and wants all day, she would take time late at night to work on
writing her novel. And in three short months, she completed Twilight, regardless of
her insignificant amount of experience in writing. In all four works, Bella Swan in the
protagonist. The story is centered around her life. All four books are written in her
perspective. Meyer usually tends to write all her stories as first person narratives,
including books that are not related to the Twilight Saga like The Host. When
Meyer writes, she becomes completely engrossed in the characters. The main
reason why she writes is because of the characters she creates. She envisions them
in her brain. She talks to them all day, and they talk back. Coming up with the
perfect names for the two main characters was a very tough process. She wanted a
name that was popular decades ago, but at the same time, she wanted a name that
was romantic for the vampire. Since Meyer grew up reading Charlotte Bronte and
Jane Austen, she used the characters Mr. Ferrars and Mr. Rochester from their
works as an inspiration; thus leading her to choose the name Edward. After coming
up with the names for the twosome, and was still in the process of creating their
story, they would constantly talk to her. She heard their voices all day, so Meyer
would
Arguments Against Aristide In Haiti
Aristide was the person that denounced the Duvaliers. It was previously stated that
Francois Duvalier created the private army, the Tonton Macoutes, whose purpose
was to get rid of the country s opposition. This army also cleared the streets usually
by robbing and killing the people at random times thus having the people of Haiti
living in constant fear. The Duvaliers and the military governments felt threatened
by Aristide because at the time he was a priest and was such a charismatic man; his
kind heart was very apparent to the hundreds of people that crowded his church
services. This man was being heard across the country and because of this his
followers bean growing in thousands. As time passed by his sermons became more
radical he made... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the end of February these rebels controlled the second largest city, Cap Haitien
which cause Haiti to split in half. Aristide tried to get his army, known as,
Chimeres to battle the army but they also clashed with any group that opposed the
president. Hundreds of people who caught in the middle were killed. (Biography)
During peace negotiations the rebels told Aristide that they only want him to
resign but Aristide refused to step down till the end of his term. In February 27,
2004 on the CNN website, U.S secretary of state Colin Powell made a plea: I know
Aristide has the interest of the Haitian people at heart. I hope that he will examine
carefully considering the interests of the Haitian people. Aristide this took it to the
heart and the next morning signed the documents to resign. (Biography) In 2004
Haiti was not a peaceful country. By April, about four thousand troops from the US,
Canada, France, and Chile were sent to the country to keep the peace. They believed
that the elections would result in a new democratic government but looking at the
history of this it doesn t seem likely.

  • 1. Career Goals Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of "Career Goals" can be both challenging and introspective. The difficulty lies not only in the articulation of your aspirations but also in presenting them in a coherent and compelling manner. You find yourself navigating through the delicate balance of ambition and realism, trying to convey your passion while remaining grounded in the practicality of your goals. Expressing your career objectives requires a deep self-reflection, forcing you to confront questions like where you see yourself in the future, what milestones you hope to achieve, and how you plan to make a meaningful impact. It demands a thoughtful exploration of your skills, values, and experiences that have shaped your professional aspirations. Moreover, the challenge extends to the need for precision in language and organization. You must carefully choose your words to convey sincerity and determination without sounding clichГ©d or overly grandiose. The structure of the essay becomes crucial, as you strive to create a logical flow that guides the reader through your past, present, and future, illuminating the path you wish to traverse in your career. Additionally, there's the pressure to differentiate yourself from others who may share similar ambitions. The essay becomes a unique canvas where you paint a vivid picture of your individuality and the distinctive journey that has led you to formulate these specific career goals. However, despite the challenges, this essay is an opportunity for self-discovery and growth. • 2. The American Dream In Finding Forrester Dreams are what drive people to better themselves and force them to move past difficulties in pursuit. For many of the characters in Finding Forrester, dreams are a pillar, just as they are for Jamal, a young man at risk of becoming another statistic in his neighborhood despite hidden writing potential. His polar opposite, William Forrester, realizes this when a break in turns into a writing lesson. Forrester is the author of the great book of the 20th century called Avalon Landing, the only book he ever publishes. Robbie Brown, who plays Jamal, describes Jamal s feeling of having guidance in Movielocity s review of Finding Forrester, No one has ever read his work with a critical eye before Forrester. It s like a dream, having someone he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Jamal this dream is to write. A simple ambition with little direction to begin, encouragement from an unexpected, but beneficial friend, leads to a blossoming of potential in Jamal. This skill is especially prominent when Jamal s test scores come back. Everyone is surprised at the excellence they show from a student who does just enough to get by, but they open doors Jamal had never considered for himself. A full scholarship to the prestigious private school, Mailor Callow, being at the top of the list. Having this opportunity presented to him is a shock to Jamal, who simply knew he loved to read and write. Now, having to consider his options, Jamal reflects upon them. Either he can either continue at his present school and maintain his status with the same assumptions involving his race and economic status to be made about him or he can pursue his dreams. But the decision and how he will use the opportunity are left up to the only person that can truly impact his dreams, Jamal himself. In the end, opportunity wins out and Jamal chooses to attend the school and begin his new path. Such a path may not have been possible at all without the help of William Forrester. Forrester brings out Jamal s intelligence and Jamal brings Forrester back into life, says Rob Brown. They need each other in a way they never imagined, (Movielocity, 2001, p. 2). Both individuals assist and encourage each other s dreams. Forrester s method and help is obvious throughout the movie while Jamal s effect on Forrester is more subtle. The one instance of Jamal directly influencing Forrester is when, on Forrester s birthday, Jamal attempts to take him to a basketball game. Hundreds of people are in attendance and after years of isolation, the crowd is frightening to Forrester. Jamal redeems the evening by taking him to an empty Yankee Stadium, where some of Forrester s better memories of the past
  • 3. The Dangers of Cell Phone Use Emily Schneider Mr. McBride CP English 11 10 January 2011 Cell Phones Negatively Impacting High School Life Two forty p.m. is probably the most anticipated time of the day for students during the school year. As soon as the final bell rings, students immediately reach into their pockets, backpacks, or purses and pull out their cell phones. One day, while leaving school, I witnessed a student furiously texting as she walked down the hallway, unaware of the door opening towards her. The door then slammed into her and knocked her off her feet, all because she was paying attention to her cell phone and not to where she was going. While most teenagers can probably relate to this story because of a similar experience, the utility and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is therefore affecting their performance in school because students are overtired during the school day. (Hafner, Texting 1). Overall, psychologists and physicians are concerned about this phenomenon saying that it is leading to anxiety, distraction in school, sleep deprivation, and most of all, declining grades (Hafner, Texting 1). What will our future look like in 10 or 20 years? At the end of 2009, the number of cell phone users around the world increased to 4.6 billion. By the end of 2010, the counts were projected to hit 5 billion (Whitney, 5 Billion ). With this many people using cell phones, the risks associated with driving distracted, health issues, and declining grades will certainly become more prominent. Driving will become even more dangerous until official laws are passed, causing increased anxiety for parents of teens getting ready to drive on their own. Also, over the next decade or so, it is projected that health issues linked to cell phones use will become more common and may prove to be life threatening. Finally, our generation and future generations will most likely have a lower success rate in not only high school, but possibly even the completion of college. Unless major limitations are put on cell phone usage, our universe may be in for many challenges regarding health and safety in future years to come. Works Cited Car
  • 4. The Pros And Cons Of The Camp Israel The threat of radical Islam and the deadlock in the Washington conferences forced the Rabin govt. to change the Israeli rejection to negotiate with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). Subsequently, secret negotiations talks initiated between the Israel and the PLO, which were held in Oslo, Norway. On 13 September 1993, in Washington both the Israeland the PLO singed the Declaration of principles. In the declaration both states mutually recognized each other. It stated that during the 5 year period Israel would withdraw its military from the Jericho and the Gaza Strip, also with its additional withdrawals from unspecified areas of the west bank. The declaration also stated the other key issues like territories to be surrendered by Israel, the status of Jerusalem, water rights, nature of Palestinian entity to be created, the refugee problem and the future of Israeli settlers were kept aside for the final status talks. In 1994 Palestinian Authority (PA) was formed by the PLO, which had the self governing powers in the areas, which were being redeveloped by the Israeli forces. Arafat left the Camp David among his constituents, as he did not bend to the American and Israel pressure. When Barak returned home he faced political crisis in his own government, also the departure of coalition partners as they felt that Barak had offered too much to the Palestinians. The Israelis came to realize that they would not achieve peace if they kept insisting on imposing the terms on the Palestinians; majority of the population began to believe that if this were the case, they would have to learn to live with the conflict
  • 5. Doublethink In George Orwell s 1984 1984 It was not easy to preserve inscrutability when you did not know what your face looked like. In any case, mere control of the features was not enough. For the first time he perceived that if you want to keep a secret you must also hide it from yourself. You must know all the while that it is there, but until it is needed you must never let it emerge into your consciousness in any shape that could be given a name. From now onwards he must not only think right; he must feel right, dream right. And all the while he must keep his hatred locked up inside of him like a ball of matter which was part of himself and yet unconnected with the rest of him, a kind of cyst (Orwell, 231). After his arrest and subsequent torture, Winston is left... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mental change from unorthodoxy to orthodoxy that arose in Winston as a result of the torture he underwent could serve as an another example of the Party s power over its citizens. Who controls the past ... controls the future: who controls the present controls the past...We, the Party, control all records, and we control all memories (Orwell, 205 206). Because of all the power the Party amassed, it was able to control the minds and memories of its citizens, altering their perceptions of the past. However, unlike his comrades, Winston was occasionally able to rely on his memories and realize all the lies the Party was telling; for example, while many citizens believed the Party s claim that it had invented the airplane, Winston was able to draw on a memory from his childhood (before the Party took over) and conclude that the Party had not invented the airplane. The fact that the Party was able to completely change his mind and remove his orthodoxy (ultimately resulting in Winston s profession of love for Big Brother), shows the non consensual intimacy between the Party and its

  • 7. The Accounting Firm Hatchet And Co A) The accounting firm Hatchet Co ( Hatchet ), could be sued by Giant plc. ( Giant ), as in their audit, the company accounts has been overstated, causing initially a rise in the shares value but then naturally a drastic fall when Giant was found to be making losses. The accounting firm is also thought to be liable towards some shareholders as Gloria and Henry, which lost the money they invested in the company. Hatchet, being an Accounting firm and thus treated in the low of torts as a professional entity has a duty of care towards the public limited company Giant under the United Kingdom company law, and it could be sued for professional negligent misstatement. Hatched might also be sued by Gloria and Henry which relied on the accounts for their investments. The profit was accounted to be ВЈ10 million while Giant was truly making losses, that drove the investments up and the director of Giant invested $2 millions in a new venture while Henry and Gloria bought respectively 10 000 and 1 000 shares more. Here, the claimants in order to succeed have to show: The existence of a duty of care, which was owed to him by the defendant Then they have to prove the breach of that duty by the defendant At the end a damage caused by the negligent action, has to be proved by the claimants. Now I will analyse if those three cases are likely to be happened in this situation. In relation to the duty of care, it is fundamental to know that it depends on the judges to decide

Robin Hood starts as a character that gets picked on and pressured by others who has trouble understanding jokes and being warm and empathetic, but when he finally shows that he can be warm, make friends and take risks, he begins to change into an independent yet kind leader. These changes eventually lead to him to realizing that life as a yeoman in the forest is the best, and that is the life he wants to live. Before he learns that Will Scarlet is his nephew and he came to meet him, he states, Describing Will Scarlet, the sight of such a fellow doth put a nasty taste into my mouth! Look how he doth hold that fair flower betwixt his thumb and finger, as he would say, Good rose, I like thee not so ill but I can bear thy odor for a little while. Robin Hood later learns the talent that Will Scarlet has when his friends pressure him to fight Scarlet and Scarlet shows his strength, and when at his welcoming feast the Merry Men get Scarlet to show off his singing skills. This shows when Robin s friends, like when Will Stutely said, Wipe thine eyes, man! I do hate to see a tall, stout fellow so sniveling like a girl of fourteen over a dead tomtit, (118; ch 10) are jesting Allan a Dale, but Robin is polite and figures out why Allan a Dale is crying. Robin turns from criticizing those just because they look funny, to being kind and understanding, no matter how someone seems at first, so he can accept any man who needs a helping

Studying The Chemistry And The Types Of Macro Invertebrates In previous studies, studying the chemistry and the types of macro invertebrates that live in a pond or stream can indicate how clean the water is; according to the North Carolina State university water quality group, stoneflies like water rich in dissolved oxygen, cold in temperature and flowing through rocks (Osmond watersheds page 1). In this lab, we went to two streams, cherry creek and bear creek. We took physical Measurements like the width, depth, description of substrate and the site. This was done for the upper, middle, and lower transect. and chemical measurements of the streams like measuring pH, temperature, phosphate, nitrite, nitrate, ammonia, dissolved O2, and dissolved solids. We also counted the macro invertebrates we found and then we Identified the ones we found. With the data that we collected, we hope to find out how does the water affect the types of macro invertebrates found in the streamwhich brings up my hypothesis which is The more dissolved O2 found in the water, we will find bioindicators that indicate clean water. I predict if there is high amounts of O2 dissolved, then there will be presence of bio indicators that only live in clean water. Our variables are water quality as our independent and our dependent is the macro invertebrates. MATERIALS AND METHODS To start off the lab, we went to cherry creek first, which is located on Speer and larimer. Then the following week, went to bear creek which was located on Estes St. The controlled
  • 10. Thank You for Our Project, Jessica Hello again Jessica. I know I haven t exactly been keeping my promises on the due dates and I m only fortifying the stigma that I touched on in my last email but I ve still got a few questions. (Did you get my last email, by the way?) Anyway, would you just like me to submit what I have? I have well over two minutes and way more than five angles. Sound has also been added and mixed. The entire movie, however, is not finished. It should give you enough to grade or at least be a worthy placeholder until I can really submit a product I m not totally disappointing with. I know it may be hard to even fathom what could possibly be taking so long but I ve been mulling over several other things regarding this project. One of the reasons I can t seem to get anywhere and one of the areas I m constantly getting hung up on is the nature and tone of the project itself. I wanted to establish a sort of creepy and unsettling mood for the project and I can t achieve what I was originally visioning in my head. Some of the animations employed simply seem to make their scene seem frivolous, silly, and awkward. I may spend up to an hour or two just trying to figure out how to make the seemingly insignificant feel right. Another issue that I m having is that there are several frame rate and frame jump mishaps that have occurred during the initial picture taking. Sometimes the character will jump from one shot to another and, subsequently, the scene appears

They are generally classified as either functioning or nonfunctioning, with functioning (secretory) adenomas representing approximately 70% of all pituitary tumors1, 2. Pituitary tumors are well suited for radiosurgery, since radiation can be focused on a well circumscribed region, while adjacent neural structures in the suprasellar and parasellar regions are spared 1, 2, 4 8. Stereotactic radiosurgery uses sophisticated 3 D computerized imaging to precisely target an ionizing ray and deliver a high concentrated dose of radiation to the lesion. Stereotactic radiosurgery differs and is advantageous over conventional surgery because there is no incision involved and general anesthesia is not required for adults, and short treatment duration amongst others4, 5. The expected dominance of the time honoured microscopic pituitary surgery technique as the gold standard for pituitary surgery seems to be fading out while the endoscopic techniques are on a rise. Microsurgical resection alone provides a long term tumor control rate of only 50% to 80% and a long term remission rate of endocrinologic normalization after surgical resection that often falls short of expectations. Reoperation for residual or recurrent tumors is associated with the more difficult complete resection and the endoscopic method alone is insufficient to solve all problems associated with these cases6. Hence the need for a complementary

The socio political subtext of the story is an important one, which brings to the forefront the particular allure of Casbah and the idiosyncrasies of its inhabitants. This subtext of the narrative connotes the desire and fascination with the exotic. Jean Gabin s character is a thief, who while running from the law becomes immersed in the maze of the city of Casbah. The intersection of this similarity is in the fact that the girlfriends taken by most of the members of his gang are native women, and correspondingly the way that the native women are shown occasionally as prostitutes. The magnetism that is created around PГ©pГ© and Gaby is related to this. His fascination with her is an exhibition of his longing for the familiarity of Paris and the sanctity of his past, a familiarity that is distant to him in Casbah. In her, PГ©pГ© is reminded of life outside the walls of Casbah. His gradual rejection of Ines in favor of Gaby suggests his shifting disposition and his consuming desire for Paris, possibly even a disgust of the colonialist enterprise on a deeper level. Gaby s jewelry is a constant reminder of these ideas. The diamond is one of the most readily identifiable symbols of the colonial process, a reminder of the exploitation of resources by the British in South Africa. Gaby is attracted to PГ©pГ© in a similar way. The radical distinction that he embodies as a gangster differentiates him from the upper class, mainland Frenchmen that she would typically be acquainted with. The fragility of PГ©pГ© s relationship with Gaby is that it is on the verge of intangibility. On the average day she could just as easily be his victim, as the cash value of her jewels are the main focus of the gang.

Diction In Desert Places Michael Laumakis Ms. Obermeier English 10 December 15, 2014 Four Poems Analysis For the duration of this essay I will be analysing four poems by looking at the speaker, diction, imagery, tone, and message in each of the four poems. The poems are: Cross by: Langston Hughes; Desert Places by: Robert Frost; Up Hill by: Christina Rossetti; and Fire and Ice by: Robert Frost. Cross, by Langston Hughes, is about a son who has a white father and a black mother. The son, who is the narrator, tells the story of his mother and father and different worlds they came from. The author employs imagery to compare how his mother and father lived and died and to convey to the reader his alienation from both of them. He refers to his father as a ... Frost uses words such as fire and ice to as a metaphor to describe the different manners in which the world will end; through the fire of passion or the ice of hatred. Frost uses a unique rhyme scheme to help lighten the subject and disguise the conversation as playful. The imagery in the poem helps Frost tell the reader about how he would hold with those who favor fire. / But if it had to perish twice/... that for the destruction of ice/... would suffice. By answering, if the world would end two times, ice would suffice shows how Frost treats even the most serious issues as if they were nothing but a grain of sand. This response also leads to the tone of the story, which is cynical and dark. The message of the poem, to me, is that it does not really matter how the world will end, and to speculate about it is

They are made from elastic, and compress the legs to help the muscles keep the blood flowing back to the lungs and heart. Venous insufficiency occurs when there is too much pressure on the veins in the legs so that the wall of the vein becomes weak and the tiny valves inside the veins stop working properly. This results in the bloodpooling in the vein causing it to bulge and twist. Compression hose helps reduce the pressure in the veins and prevents the veins from shutting down. Many things are done and decided based on the benefits received. Either through the great profit they can make by using the limited resources we have or by using the resources we have excessively and wastefully, without thinking of the consequences it will have on us and for later generations. It is hard to find a balance between sustainabilityand our economy. Economic growth however, also depends on a sustaining and functional environment. Instead some other organizations does better at evaluating in detail and continuously of how it is sustainable and how it has continued to be more eco friendly. Politics is connected to natural resources, the issue of global warming, and sustainability. In order for the economy to grow, it feeds on natural resources that produces waste and pollutes the earth and the air. This threatens the environment and the eco system in which our lives depend. The use of natural resources exceeds the amount the earth can undertake and recover. • 22. Sociological Research On Social And Class Differences Various statistical techniques are used in sociological research in order to study the social world. These may include measures to describe data dispersion, as well as analytical methods such as latent class analysis. Each technique can provide distinct approaches to answering a research question, as they may emphasize specific factors or lead to different ways to structure results. Consequently, it becomes particularly important to consider one s choice of measures and methods, as depending on the ones used, both the conclusion itself and interpretations of it may be affected, along with wider understandings of social reality. To begin, quantitative social research will often employ statistical measures to determine the central tendency of a given dataset. These measures, including mean, median, and mode, are used to calculate typical values of the center of a probability distribution. Since they are focused on average values, measures of central tendency are useful tools in understanding the typical situations or experiences of social groups. This makes them especially helpful in understanding social inequality and class differences because they facilitate comparison of data for multiple groups. For instance, to determine levels of economic inequality in relation to gender, one could calculate the mean incomes of males and females in a given city and compare them. However, it is crucial to consider the effects of these different measures of central tendency, as the

If consumers hope to create an appropriate level of wealth to support themselves in the latter years of life and avoid counting on government programs as their primary source of income, consumers will need to save more of their income. Servicing credit card debt required approximately 13.9% of consumer s disposable income in the fourth quarter of 2008 (Wilcox, Block, Eisenstein, 2011). If these dollars were available as contributions into a retirement account on behalf of the consumer, countless people would be confident about their ability to save for an appropriate lifestyle in retirement. Burton, a master of arms, made a few alterations such as slightly lengthening the bullet and thinning the walls of the hollow base. These alterations made the minie` ball much easier and cheaper to mass produce; this is what was used by the blue and gray s out on the battlefields. The Union soldiers were more likely to carry the U.S. Model 1861 Springfield Rifle Musket than any other weapon. These guns were not the easiest or most convenient weapons even if they were the most common. The Model 1861 was a .58 caliber gun, was 58.5 inches long, and weighed in at a heavy 9.25 pounds. This rifle was nicknamed The Widow Maker. This nickname was made with great thanks to the minie` bullet which was an integral part of this rifle musket. The combination of the rifle musket and the minie` bullet forever changed the face of warfare; thus because for the first time ever, men could aim at a distant target, and have a decent chance of hitting it. This luxury allowed the gun bearers to hide in a safe place, yet still be able to knock down their target. Everyone has a different opinion on beauty. Raina Kelley makes an argument over beauty in an article called Beauty Is Defined, and Not By You. Although she makes a somewhat valid argument, I find that there is much more to this topic. Yes, body image is becoming more of an issue in today s world, especially within young girls and women. In a study that was done by the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 1999 found that twenty percent of nine year olds and over forty percent of fort teen year olds reported wanting to lose weight. She uses such context as yes, people can be vicious in their categorization of women s looks; insult them back or ignore them. I think it is fair to say most people are not going to agree with that statement. Most of us grew up with our parents saying that two wrongs don t make a right. So if she is trying to convince the audience to be on her side and agree I believe the way she is going about it is completely wrong. In addition, one would believe that being negative would hurt one s beauty standard. I find rude, and negative to be very ugly because my view of beauty is that not only do looks have part to do with beauty but what makes you up as a person in values is very important as well. Also, she goes on to say in her article that most of the world s women aren t Vogue approved hotties and still so many to manage to kick ass in law school, business school and or medical school, and not by sitting in a plastic surgeon s office or the gym all day. . I find that she has very little emotion towards the people she is writing to nor just she care about what they think. So that alone may make the people not want to read or even hear what she has to say. Additionally, she begins her article talking about race, saying that as a rounded black woman with curly hair, the best she can hope for is moderately

Analysis Of Allen Ginsberg s Howl Hold back the edges of your gowns, Ladies, we are going through hell, (Sullivan 1) as William Carlos Williams put it, in introducing the first edition of Allen Ginsberg s Howl. Most famously known for Howl, Ginsberg was recognized for his obscene and exaggerated writing style. With Edgar Allen Poe being a form of influence and admiration in Ginsberg s eyes, it s understandable to see where he gets his inspiration. Allen Ginsbergs work of literature is important because it challenges mainstream societal values and gives a voice to those who struggle with repression by a patriarchal agenda. Howl, Allen Ginsberg s best known poem was his most popular and most controversial work of literature. This poem is separated into three different parts. The title Howl is in reference to protest and cry for all exploitation and repression. The poet asks the reader to cry against capitalism (Howl 7 8). Ginsberg was a headstrong social and political activist during his time. He related to the free spirited hippie generation and the make love, not war movement. He also revolted against mainstream American culture as a way to challenge other civilian s mindsets. Calling Howl a story isn t accurate, its more Ginsberg describing his environment and his subjects on paper. The first line begins with, I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness.... In addition to the direct descriptor that proves he is disreputable, the author uses an alliteration and lengthens the sentence to emphasize Big Mao s flaws. First, when initially describing him, the author says there lived in the district a disreputable character, which alliterates d to emphasize Big Mao s reputation (411). Also, in the same sentence, Pu Songling introduces Big Mao by first describing where Big Mao lived and his nature and then awkwardly adding that he goes by the name of Big Mao. History Of Roman And Greek Culture It is the constant aim of the management to prevent the use of a single word, expression, or situation that will offend the intelligent, refined and cultured classes (Stein 23). This is the motto of Mr. Chase s Original Idea: Polite Vaudeville, a then unheard of yet soon widely popular subcategory of vaudeville theater in the early 1900s until the 1930s. In many places and in many time periods in the world, it is found that theater is not only considered prominent in culture but is often integral. This can be seen especially in ancient Roman and Greek culture, as the combination of theater, music, and dance were significant. Rome has been a place of passionate, bustling life for more than 2,000 years. This trend started when the huge city was founded in 753 B.C.E. Theater has been an essential part of Roman culture since this time, and expressive plays and musicals were performed regularly. Roman plays were often performed in temporary wooden theaters in earlier times, until Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus, better known as Pompey the Great (a military and bureaucratic leader), built the first stone theater in Rome. This theater, known as the Theatre of Pompey, could hold up to 11,000 spectators and was hugely popular during its high point. The theater was built in 55 B.C.E. and is considered the first permanent theater built in Rome. Two stone theaters were built after that: the Theater of Balbus and the Theater of Marcellus, both built in 13 B.C.E. and capable of holding up to

  • 43. The And Of A Bernoulli Random Abstract Abstract here Humans, and animals, often perceive events as being random. Many lab oratory and controlled studies have been conducted over the last half century to determine human ability to detect whether a particular string of events is random. Often, these studies consist of detecting whether some binary sequence has the properties of a bernoulli random variable. From the re sults of these studies, we can conclude experimental subjects hold the Law of Small Numbers (Tversky Kahneman, 1971) to be true. Particularly, many studies have found humans have a skewed perception of and researchers do not understand randomness. In this paper, we seek to answer three focused questions: 1. Can randomness be deп¬Ѓned, and if so, how can humans determine whether a sequence is random? 2. What have previous studies concluded with regard to decision makers skill in determining whether a sequence is random? 3. Are we able to develop a rigorous, mathematical argument regarding randomness? Before we begin to answer these questions, we will present deп¬Ѓnitions from the literature to facilitate the discussion. 1 1 Deп¬Ѓnitions Two ubiquitous concept used in studies of randomness are the gambler s fal lacy and the hot hand. Using the deп¬Ѓnitions from Oskarsson, van Boven, McClelland, and Hastie (2009), we will deп¬Ѓne the gambler s fallacy as the judgement the streak will end. The gambler s fallacy is also known as neg ative recency. The hot hand is the judgement that a streak will

Her is a quirky, truly 21st century story that breaks barriers by asking not who, but rather what we can love. Set in Los Angeles in the unspecified near future, Theodore, a lonely writer in the midst of a divorce, stumbles into an unprecedented romance with his Operating System, Samantha. The film raises scientific, philosophical, and even moral questions, while never straying from its true purpose, which is to examine not only the way we love, but the way we interact with other people in a world that seems to rely more and more on technology to function. Writer and Director Spike Jonzeinvites the audience to have open mind and undergo an individual exploration to these questions through the eyes of the characters. The film showcases the infusion of technology into our lives and the challenges it creates for the way we look at the world. The unconventional nature of Theodore and Samantha s relationship is what drives them both together and apart. While this layout of comics is perfectly fine and has been for decades, it doesn t take full advantage of the web format. Along with this, Homestuck is a story that goes beyond the traditional comic format, becoming a truly multi media experience spanning the entire internet and beyond, influenced by the massive community that became involved with it over its 7 year span. Besides just still images, Hussie s comic is filled with colorful animations in many of its panels, along with videos and interactive games accompanied by a wide array of music. In fact, over 26 albums total were produced by Hussie s web store turned record label for the comic. This is something that, while other artists had likely attempted it in some way, no other comic had had such a large success with, and in turn had such a wide influence on the web comic community. Beyond just the images on the page, Hussie also manipulates webpages themselves, going as far as to completely change the color and format of the page to manipulate the narrative mechanic and add to the story, as shown in the pictures

The Purpose Of Al-Ghazali The Niche Of Lights Al Ghazali, The Niche of Lights Introduction The understanding and explanation of God and who He is, is a task that many philosophical and religious scholars have tried without much success. This is because questions keep arising. Several approaches have been used by scholars and philosopher to explain about God. Even so, most of these attempts to teach about God encompass around his manifestation since none describes his physical appearance. Additionally, in the Biblical texts as well as the Quran where Bible characters have seen God, they have often used personifications to explain their encounter with God. In this discussion, the study looks at understanding God as a manifestation of light. Moreover, the study also looks at how impossible it is to understand God. The entire review will be based on the Al Ghazali s statement that, So glory be to Him who is hidden from creatures through the intensity of His manifestation and veiled from them because of the radiance of His light! (I.65, p. 24 in our PDF). From this statement, the study proves three things: God is manifestation since he can only be described as such. God is light since He cannot be seen through human understanding (eyes). And God is intensely manifested to the point that He is hidden because His reality cannot be comprehended through human knowledge. How God is manifestation or light, In the words of Al Ghazali, two things are mentioned that characterizes God. The first is the manifestation of God. In this case, he says that Glory should be to whom is hidden through His extreme manifestation. In this case, what the text tends to suggest is that God can only be known or described through his manifestation which hides his true self since his true self is like a light that cannot be beheld or else it will hurt the eyes. The truth of this phrase is in the fact that human ability cannot know God. It is because God is not easy to comprehend. As such, the much that man can use to explain God, or the much that God can use to reveal Himself to man is through manifesting Himself. The best illustration to support this assertion can be found in the description in the Qur an 24:35 ( the Light verse ). This phrase states, God is the Light of
  • 53. The Success of Stephanie Meyer Essay I d never given much thought to how I would die, but dying in the place of someone I love seems like a good way to go. Those are the famous words that started it all, The Twilight Saga Phenomenon. The Twilight Saga consists of four novels: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. Stephanie Meyer, author of the popular saga, majored in English literature at Brigham Young University. After graduating in 1997, Meyer chose to be a stay at home mother to her three sons. She then based all four novels on that dream because she had a gut feeling that it was going to make a great... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No one besides her sister knew that she was writing a novel, little known at the time, but the masterpiece known as Twilight. Since Meyer is a mother of three, and is busy with her kids needs and wants all day, she would take time late at night to work on writing her novel. And in three short months, she completed Twilight, regardless of her insignificant amount of experience in writing. In all four works, Bella Swan in the protagonist. The story is centered around her life. All four books are written in her perspective. Meyer usually tends to write all her stories as first person narratives, including books that are not related to the Twilight Saga like The Host. When Meyer writes, she becomes completely engrossed in the characters. The main reason why she writes is because of the characters she creates. She envisions them in her brain. She talks to them all day, and they talk back. Coming up with the perfect names for the two main characters was a very tough process. She wanted a name that was popular decades ago, but at the same time, she wanted a name that was romantic for the vampire. Since Meyer grew up reading Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen, she used the characters Mr. Ferrars and Mr. Rochester from their works as an inspiration; thus leading her to choose the name Edward. After coming up with the names for the twosome, and was still in the process of creating their story, they would constantly talk to her. She heard their voices all day, so Meyer would
