Quiznos is diversified fast food restaurant or eatery spot that first began situated in Denver,
Colorado that spends significant time in offering toasted submarine sandwiches. It was
established in 1981 by Jimmy Lambatos who wasi a Denver food industry veteran who got his
start in the early 1970s as executive chef at the storied Colorado Mine Co. steakhouse in
Glendale. After cooking meals for local celebrities and visiting stars including Elvis Presley and
the Rolling Stones, Lambatos left to start his own northern Italian restaurant in 1978 called
Footers. He then created Quiznos with a friend of his named Todd Disner.and sold to Rick and
Richard Schaden ten years after the fact, before developing to about 5,000 eateries a while later.
There are several reasons why a organization such as quiznos are failing and are very close to
ending, the organization had developed to 5,000 units. While the organization offered delectable
subs, Metro could without much of a stretch purchase toasters. By presenting toasted subs in 2005,
Metro copied Quiznos blueprint in creating the sub but making it much better. After one year,
Quiznos started to go through a downfall in their franchise. It has shed more than 60% of its units
to its present tally of under 2,000. Quiznos diversified plan of action had a genuine defect: it was
near inconceivable for a franchisee to turn a

Racial Tensions In The United States
For centuries, many political and civil rights activist have taken a stance against the growing racial
tensions that have persisted with in the United States. Even though the racial problems facing this
country today are not as transparent as in the past, the underlying prejudice still remains. For
instance, President Trump s campaign used disapproving religious and racial views to gain support
which subsequently escalated the already strained racial relations. Even though political elections
are anonymous in the eye of the public, society has shaped anyone out who voted for Donald
Trump to essentially be Caucasian. Therefore, this presidential election has caused for any progress
regarding racial relations to be questioned due to the blatant

The Yellow Press Book Summary
1. The Yellow Press as defined in our book was a battle to sell more newspapers that pitted the
New York World owned by Joseph Pulitzer and the New York Journal owned by William
Randolph Hearst against one another (book p. A 70). Hearst used the color yellow to print his
comics mixing facts with sensationalizing accounts of crime and political corruption with
aggressive appeals to patriot sentiments (book p. 667). Pulitzer and Hearst send reporters to Cuba.
They sent back reports of Spanish cruelty some of which are factual and some that were not. These
stories begin to rile the American people. Also at this time, Thomas Edison invents the motion
picture camera and people are shown newsreels of the Cuban struggles. Atrocities are shown...

The Filipinos had been fighting the Spanish prior to the arrival of the U.S. Aguinaldo knew he
needed a major power to help him with his struggle. Aguinaldo met with Dewey in Hong Kong
and sailed with him to the Philippines. After Dewey s naval victory in the Manila Bay,
Aguinaldo believed he could begin Filipino independence so he formed his government based
on the U.S. Constitution. However, the U. S. turned against him when they annexed the island
nation. McKinley justified his position saying it would take them 100 years to understand what
true freedom means (book, p.672). At the time of the insurrection, America was becoming
aware of the atrocities committed by American troops such as the burning of villages, torture of
POW s, and rape and execution of civilians (book, p.677). Aguinaldo was not treated fairly at all.
If the U.S. was not so short sighted, he could have founded his government. We could have had a
stronger ally during WWII. We were lucky the Japanese were more brutal than we were.
However, in our defense, we did our best to Americanize the island nation by modernizing their
infrastructure, education and medical treatment systems (book, p. 672). Why was this war so
little remembered by the American people? I believe this had a lot to do with Douglas McArthur.
He loved the Filipino people and it about killed him to leave them to the Japanese. He vowed to
return and return he did. He along with his Filipino guerillas defeated the Japanese. After winning
WWII, the Philippines were granted their independence. I believe this is why no one knows about

the fastest growing airlines and is known for consistently turning a profit. Though Emirates is
owned by the UAE government, is has evolved into a globally influential travel and tourism
conglomerate known for its commitment to the highest standards of quality in every aspect of the
business (The Emirates Story).
History
In March of 1985, Emirates airlines was created with support from Dubai s royal family. With an
investment of 10 million US dollars, Emirates was able to lease a Boeing 737 300 and an Airbus

Emirates has chosen not to join any alliance but it does offer code sharing with various airlines.
By remaining an independent airline, it is able to react without consensus from other alliance
members (Lone Emirates still flying high on luxury). With all these destinations, Emirates has
been able to have 101098 available seat miles. Business Model Emirates airlines is known for its
sound business strategy and unique ability to plan for the future. One of the first steps taken to
cut costs and maximize exposure is in the preparation for the post travel agent era. By offering
online ticketing, having a YouTube channel and frequently updating its customers using social
media, Emirates is able to eliminate the need for travel agents and generate revenue from
advertising placed on its websites (Annual review by the chairman). Emirates current ratio of
direct vs transfer flights is a well balanced 50:50. However this should change once all A 380s are
delivered. By focusing on cargo operations more intensely than its competitors, it is able to generate
20% of its revenue from freight operations. The airline also has a strong presence in secondary
markets that are currently not served by its competitors (British Airways, Air France and
Lufthansa). By almost completely saturating these secondary markets (Middle East, Indonesia, and
south eastern Asia) with its own fleet, the

Why Is Louis Xiv Important In The 1600s
From 1500 1700, there were multiple European monarchs that were beneficial to their country, but
there were also many other monarchs that were detrimental to their country. During this time
period, certain European countries also had their own governmental issues, whereas other countries
were thriving. Throughout the 1600 s, numerous European leaders were fighting internal and
external wars, having social and economic problems, and losing faith in their people. On the other
hand, some leaders were also providing support for their people and creating a strong government.
There are several European monarchs who were beneficial and detrimental, but five key people
control the discussion. King James I of England, Peter I of Russia, Louis XIV of France, Pierre
Patel, and Queen Elizabeth I of England are all royals who had a substantial influence over their
countries.
In the early 1600 s, King James I was the monarch of England. He was a member of the Stuart

cause of them. In 1694, an anonymous source reported that Louis XIV had consumed half the
wealth and vitality of France on costly wars, and now France was a vast hospital, desolate and
without provisions (Document H). From the author s perspective as a French citizen, the conditions
in France were deplorable and most of it was Louis XIV s fault. The author s background as an
anonymous citizen allowed them to tell the honest truth because they wanted to inform their
monarch of the conditions in their country. In 1694, an anonymous source informed Louis XIV that
the cultivation of the earth in France is almost abandoned, the towns and the countryside are
depopulated; all the industry languishes and no longer supports the workers. (Document H).

My Culture Of Trinidad
The culture of Trinidad is very different from my home culture of Findlay, Ohio. However, I did
observe a few similarities including the language. Although you may not be able to tell at first, the
native language in Trinidad is english. The people can be hard to understand because they talk
really fast with a strong dialect. On the other hand, I could go on and on about the differences of
the culture of Trinidadfrom my own. For instance, the locals are very aggressive drivers who
only use road signs as a suggestion. In Trinidad, cutting off other people, driving in and out of
traffic, and occasionally stopping at stop signs and red lights is completely normal. Their
driving is very aggressive, yet every driver that I rode with was very calm. They didn t have the
typical road rage like we do in America. There is always a lot of traffic in Trinidad, especially in
the morning and in the late afternoons. The reason for this traffic is due to the amount of people
that live on the island Trinidad is populated with about 1.2 million people. The island can fit into
Ohio over 22 and a half times. At night, the island is covered in lights. At first, it looked like a big
city with lights everywhere, but it turned out that it was a bunch of houses. There are numerous
houses everywhere to house the population that I was amazed by the amount of light on the island.
My culture back home could greatly benefit from the laid back lifestyle of Trinidad. In America, we

Martin Luther Essay
Martin Luther
Martin Luther was a German theologian and religious reformer, who started the
Protestant Reformation, and whose vast influence during his time period made him one of the
crucial figures in modern European history. Luther was born in
Eisleben on November 10, 1483 and was descended from the peasantry, a fact that he often
stressed. Hans Luther, his father, was a copper miner. Luther received a sound primary and
secondary education at Mansfeld, Magdeburg, and Eisenach. In
1501, at the age of 17, he enrolled at the University of Erfurt, receiving a bachelor s degree in 1502
and a master s degree in 1505 . He then intended to study law, as his father had wished. In the
summer of 1505, he abandoned his studies and his law plans, ... Show more content on

Both the exact date and the location of this experience have been a matter of controversy among
scholars, but the event was crucial in Luther s life, because it turned him decisively against some of
the major tenets of the Catholic church. Luther became a public and controversial figure when he
published his Ninety Five Theses on October 31, 1517.
His main purpose of writing the theses was to show his opposition for the corruption and wealth of
the papacy and to state his belief that salvation would be granted on the basis of faith alone rather
then by works. Although it is generally believed that Luther nailed these theses to the door of All
Saints
Church in Wittenberg, some scholars have questioned this story, which does not occur in any of his
own writings. Regardless of the manner in which his propositions were made public, they caused
great excitement and were immediately translated into German and widely distributed .
Luther s spirited defense and further development of his position through public university debates
in Wittenberg and other cities resulted in an investigation by the Roman Curia that led to the
condemnation of his teachings and his excommunication. Summoned to appear before Charles V at
the Diet of
Worms in April 1521, he was asked before the assembled secular and ecclesiastical rulers to recant.
He refused firmly,

milk was an upcoming technology from the Swedish firm Tetra Pak, making Parmalat an

Milan. During the nineties, the Parmalat Group followed a strategy to expand its reach through

important role as Tanzi was placing relatives in important positions and boards of the holding.
The Parma football club was acquired and Tanzi s son Stefano became the club s president while
his daughter, Stefania, became the CEO of the tourism firm, Parmatour (Buchanan Yang, 2005).
By the end of 2002, the group was a world leader in the markets of milk, diary products and

Noninfective Fluid Occur In The Middle Ear
The middle ear, which can be referred to as the Tympanic membrane, is responsible for transmitting
sound waves from the outer ear into the inner ear. It accomplishes this by using three bones which
are called the auditory ossicles. The three bones involved are the Malleus, the incus and stapes.
These bones connect the tympanic membrane (eardrum) to the oval window of the inner ear. Each
bone has a special function in the transmission of vibrations that will be discussed below. Although,
the middle ear is usually good at maintaining balance and free from organisms; it can also be
infected from other factors and complications. The middle ear can be easily infected when foreign
matter enters the canal or the Eustachian tube, which connects to the nasopharynx. This can also
lead to ear infections even if the patient has sinus infection or any upper respiratory infection that
can contribute. Since the nasopharynx connects to the middle ear, drainage and bacteriacan invade

A Personal Assessment Of Dasani, The Invisible Child Essay
Introduction This paper will be the second personal assessment of Dasani, the invisible child,
through four different theories. These theories include Fowler s Stages of Faith Development,
Stimulation Theories, Control Theories and the Practice Orientation versus Culture of Poverty.
Each theory will be broken down into it s own section of synopsis and then assessment of Dasani to
give a better understanding of her spiritual and cultural dimensions and her physical environment.
Fowler s Stages of Faith Development Synopsis James Fowler developed his stages of faith after
conduction in depth interviews of 359 people. The sample subjects were predominately white,
with equal numbers of males and females and included a wide range of ages, from three and a half
to 84 years old. Fowler s interviews consisted of 30 plus questions regarding the subject s life
experiences, relationships, values, commitments and religion. After analyzing the responses, Fowler
placed each subject in one of six faith stages. The responses indicated that as the subject s age
increased, so did their stage of faith (Hutchison, 2015). Fowler saw faith as greater than religious
faith and viewed it as a universal aspect of human existence (Hutchison, 2015). The ultimate
environment is an important element of Fowler s theory. He saw faith as not only an internal image
but also how one relates to that image. Faith is not an unchangeable image or idea, but a way of
being. The six stages of

driveway at front yard of their contact s residence. But just as they were about to make their way
to the front yard s porch, thinking they were going to head inside the house, Eagle Eye suddenly

wonder what is inside those footlockers. Well, now we re in a place relatively safe from audible
hearing, I think it s now my turn to uphold my end of the bargain, Eagle Eye said, recalling the
agreement he made with Siegfried and Brenda. He calmly headed toward the footlockers that lay
in the middle of the garage, with the two Jackbooters following him from behind. Not too long
after, Eagle Eye then proceeded to open the two footlockers, revealing its contents. Thus, the
contact allowed the two Jackbooters to see what was inside. Brenda got closer toward the

she pulled out what appeared to be the male and female uniforms of the Catholic high school Eagle

Mussolini s rise to power
How far do you agree, that the Bienno Rosso was the most important reason for Mussolini and
Fascism s rise to power in Italy, 1919 22?
Mussolini and the fascists managed to rise to power and take control of Italy in 1922. Mussolini
s rise to power took place mainly due to a combination of conditions that characterized the liberal
Italian state, which existed before his take over. The main factors that led to Mussolini s rise to
power were the impact of the First World War, the weaknesses of the Risorgimento, the Biennio
Rosso , the elite s support for the Fascist Party, and the March on Rome. All of these factors
contributed to Mussolini and the fascist s rise to power.

The main political alignments of the newly unified Italy were the liberalists, socialist and the
Catholic Church supporters and they all had different views and opposed each other. When
Giolitti was in power he tried to win over all the key groups in order for them to accept and
support the liberal state, however he was unable to do so because in trying to please one section he
would end up alienating the other.
During the years of the liberal system the development of industry in the North led to the founding
of trade unions and cooperative organizations, which then resulted in a significant growth of
socialism.
The First World War had started reinforcing nationalism, and a desire of great achievements and
glory for the nation. These sudden nationalist beliefs created among the Italians of the Risorgimento
were made stronger by the fear of a possible socialist revolution. The conditions of growing industry
of the Risorgimento had caused the growth of the socialist movement, which then helped Mussolini
gain power due to his anti communist beliefs.
As a result of how Italy was created but not fully unified, the new Italian state suffered from a
variety of weaknesses which the new liberal state was unable to tackle these. This made Italy
susceptible to the appeal of fascism, and therefore aided Mussolini s rise to power.
Another reason that led to Mussolini s rise to power was the Biennio Rosso which took place in

Compare and Contrast Watching a Movie at Home vs. Going to...

CHOOSING TO WATCH A MOVIE AT HOME OR IN THEATRES.
Watching a film on TV is better than watching in theaters this how I m going to prove my
comparisons. It s annoying when you hear from friends what happens in the movie and it ruins
the whole thing. It just isn t the same! It depends on, how good your surround system is and how
big your TV is, and economic hardships today. It does not mean that the enjoyment of watching
movies needs to be sacrificed. There is something to be said for big screen viewing; however, the

Being comfortable is another big factor for me in determining whether watching a movie at home
or at a movie theater? At the theater, comfort ability is not an option. All chairs in the theater are
made in a certain way only allowing you to sit in a position in which the chair is made. Comfort
ability at home is another story. When watching a movie at home, you have the choice of sitting on
the floor, couch, and soft chairs or lay down.
When one goes to watch a movie at the theater, they have to plan which theater to go too, the cost
of the movie, and visiting the concession stand, which is over rated and over priced, but I do love

Cost of Concessions for two people= $10.00

The Is The Thought Of Mind Control Of People

People will naturally have different opinions. I believe these events have to exist. There are too

Assignment On Divine Law
STUDY QUESTIONS
Chapter 4: On Divine Law
1.What does it mean to know the divine law?
Basically, divine law is the kind of law that is not forced by any punishment or rewards in order
to follow them. Knowing divine law means acting good and behaving in a way that follows the
nature and how thing are; as an example, serving in the interest of nature which is understanding
that all and every human are free and every person should have their own freedom and choice and
not abusing others and doing your best to follow everything in nature in its own way. Following
the divine law automatically is following the law of God because law of nature is exactly the law
of God and how he made everything. Therefore, people who follow the divine law do not need
any force to act and behave correctly because they truly believe in their heart and mind to the law of
nature and law of God and they would not do anything but all the stuff that are correct in nature
/God law.
2.What is the difference between joy and suffering?
Difference between joy and suffering as its explained in the text is that when God gave us the law
of nature and also gave us the free choice which is the freedom that we can choose between good

cloves garlic, 1 whole onion, ginger, star anise, and 14 cups water, cooked on high temperature

The Benefits Of Car Buying And Buy A Car
When deciding if it s best to lease or buy a car, there are considerations you should make based on
your personal situation. For example, the monthly payments and whether you drive the car for
business will factor into the process. These questions should help you answer the question of
whether car leasingor car buying is right for you.
How Long Will You Keep the Car?
If you want to trade in for a new car every 2 years, leasing would be the better option for you. You
re essentially paying to rent the vehicle long term before trading it in for another. A car owner who
purchased a car then turned it in within a few years wouldn t get much money for the car since it
would have depreciated significantly. The depreciation for a leased car isn t the concern of the
person who does the leasing. The monthly payments for use of the car have depreciation costs
factored into it.
Are You Rough on Your Vehicles?
A driver who doesn t ding or scratch their car is a driver who should consider a leased car. If you
are constantly finding unexplained scratches or dents, you ll end up paying a lot of money for
the repair of the car. While you might be able to ignore scratches on a car you own, a leasing
company will charge you for those kinds of repairs.
What is Your Available Savings for Fees versus a Down Payment
?
The upfront costs for buying a car include the massive down payment, registration and insurance
fees as well as the title costs. You ll also have to make the first payment on

Sanlu Milk Crisis Essay
Synopsis
There were many reasons why the Sanlu milk crisis occurred. Between 2000 and 2007, China s
dairy consumption increased an average of 23% per year. This large increase put pressure on the
dairy industry, which was having difficult time meeting consumer demand. The shortage of raw
dairy product prompted many companies to source from dairy farmers without properly conducting
due diligence and fully vetting their operations. Also, the cost structure of the dairy industry and
lack of government regulations incentivized dairy farmers to dilute their milk so they could sell
more of their product. The dairy industry adopted a crude protein test as a quality control measure;
however, many dairy farmers were able to cheat this test by ... Show more content on

This incentivized the dairy farmers to find ways to stretch their product further and increase
margins. Dairy farmers must be properly compensated for their product if the quality of the milk is
to be maintained.
The dairy industry must also do a better job at ensuring the quality of the product it receives from
its milk providers. Obviously the dairy farmers found a way to get around the protein test. The dairy
companies should instead follow the lead of their French and Australian counterparts and conduct a
true protein test prior to payment. This would eliminate the ability of the dairy farmers to cheat the
test as they had in the past.
The government also has a responsibility to fix this issue the dairy industry is facing. The
government failed to adequately monitor the quality of the milk being sold by dairy companies.
The Chinese government knew as early as 2004 that there was an issue with the milk supply when
the big head disease occurred yet there was little government action to determine the scope of this
problem. The government should have regulations the dairy industry must meet to protect its
citizens, similar to what is prevalent in developed countries today.
Conclusion
In order to regain consumer confidence and prevent another dairy crisis from occurring, there are
many issues the dairy industry along with the Chinese government need to resolve. Key to ensuring
this crisis does not occur in the future is

Persuasive Essay About Thanksgiving Food
nimals, I think it s kind of gross, but I don t have the commitment to say I m a vegetarian.
Anyway, I don t enjoy eating animals that much, it s just not for me but that s a personal
problem. But that s the main focus of Thanksgiving! People just call is Turkey Day, sometimes!
So, there s one holiday food, OUT! Next in line, we have stuffing. Mmm don t you just love good
old fashioned wet bread to fill your genetically modified turkey s carcass? Ew! What? Why is that
a thing? I don t need to argue this further, I think you get it. The only other key player in the
Thanksgivingmeal that comes to mind is pumpkinpie. Pumpkin spice is a fan favorite, starting
early September people go wild over everything flavored to taste like that festive squash. That s
another one of those foods that I just don t like, I m a picky eater, it s fine. So, I ll let everyone
have that, but that does not make Thanksgiving more enjoyable to me. The only Thanksgiving
food that I can thoroughly enjoy, are mashed potatoes. Those are glorious, I m not mad at them
but my family gets a little upset at me when that s all I eat for Thanksgiving dinner so it doesn t
even count. Major portion of Thanksgiving celebration is the food, and I m not into it. Boom!
Holiday ruined! I mean, if I m going to overeat, it might as well be foods I enjoy! But, it gets worse.
Starting in like Kindergarten, we re taught that the first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the
pilgrims and WampanoagIndians. That s cute and

Lab # 3 Predicting Maximal Oxygen Uptake
30 October 2014
KINE 3153: Physiology of Exercise and Human Performance
Dr. Murat Karabulat
INTRODUCTION: The energy to perform exercise for periods of more than 10 minutes comes
mainly from aerobic metabolism (1). VO2max is a reproducible measure of an individual s
cardiovascular system s ability to deliver the required oxygenated blood to a large muscle mass
involved in exercise (1). The determination of an individual s VO2max is commonly used to assess
levels of physical fitness, as well as develop and monitor training programs for athletes. The
submaximal tests have an error of plus or minus 10% which makes them invalid for the purpose
of long term training studies. For clinical screening purposes the use of submaximal prediction
tests is a viable option. There are three main advantages to using submaximal testing. Submaximal
testing does not take and individual to his or her maximal limits, which greatly reduces the chance
of a cardiovascular accident, especially in older subjects. In addition expensive laboratory
equipment is not needed, and more subjects can be screened in a given period of time.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this laboratory #3 it to acquaint the class with different methods to
estimate VO2max, and to see how these predictions compare to VO2max values acquired during
Lab #2. Laboratory #2 was canceled due to inoperative equipment, so those comparisons cannot be
made.

The Stanford Prison Experiment
The Stanford prison experiment was conducted at Stanford University on August 14th through
August 20th in 1971, by a team of researchers headed by psychology professor Philip Zimbardo.
This experiment used college students and was funded by the U.S. Office of Naval Research.
The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps were both very interested in this particular experiment due to
the many violent outbreaks and conflicts between military guards and prisoners. In 2010
Hollywood produced a movie on the events of the Stanford prison experiment. The movie was
all about a study on how people would behave in a simulated setting of a prison. It starts off with
an advertisement in the newspaper looking for subjects to be a part of an experiment, where
participants assume the identities of inmates and prison guards in an empty jail, the subjects are
promised a payment of $1,000 a day for two weeks. After several interviews were conducted
measuring the test subject s responses to a number of different violent scenes, twenty six
subjects are finally chosen and are split into two categories: six of them as guards and twenty of
them as prisoners. All of these men are considered to be the most psychologically stable and
healthy of all of the applicants. The groups were deliberately selected to exclude those with
criminal backgrounds, psychological impairments, or medical problems. They then are driven to an
isolated building set up as a prison. The research conductor outlined basic rules of the

Blue Jays Case Study
The Toronto Blue Jays recent success, shown in large by the team s first playoff berth in
22 years, has boosted ticket prices at an exponential rate. Through the use of economic concepts and
the book Cocktail Party Economics, the change in prices can be explained further in depth.
While any Blue Jays enthusiast could tell that the price boost is due to the increase in the team s
popularity, one with a working knowledge of economics could explain that the price increase is a
factor of scarcity, demand equilibrium.
Scarcity, simply put, is the underlying reason why economics and markets exist: the fact that there
is not enough of a good for everyone who wants one to have one. In Cocktail Party
Economics, the author gives an example of having 10 stones that 20 different ... Show more content

There is a limited number of seats in a stadium, and thus there is a limit to the number of tickets to
sell, resulting in only the most dedicated and faithful fans paying large prices to see the playoff
games.
After the Jays improved performance in the regular season and the increased popularity of the
team, it would be easy to simply say that playoff tickets are in higher demand. However, we must
turn to economics to explain why demand has increased. Demand refers to how much of a good
the market will buy at any given price. For this reason, it is important to understand that price
changes, whether they be increasing or decreasing, do not change demand В they change the
quantity demanded. During the first half of the baseball season, the Blue Jays had a worse record
and were not expected to be in the playoff team for that simple reason that they rarely sold out
their games, despite the tickets being at a lower price point than present. However, today tickets
sell out mere hours after being put to market as consumer preferences changed in favour of the
team. Cocktail Party Economics gives the example of grocery stores stocking products with

Pascal s Triangle And The Triangle
Pascal s Triangle is named after the seventeenth century mathematician and philosopher, Blaise
Pascal. However, several other mathematicians knew about and utilized the triangle before Pascal s
birth in 1623. In the twelfth century, both Persian and Chinese mathematicians were trying to
create an arithmetical triangle that is easy to construct and that gives the coefficients of the
expansion of the algebraic expression expression (a + b)n for different integer values of n. Pascal s
Triangle was first discovered by Chinese mathematician, Yang Hui, and rediscovered 500 years later
by the French mathematician, Blaise Pascal (1623 62). The Chinese mathematician, Chu Shih
Chieh, depicted the triangle and indicated its use in providing coefficients for the binomial
expansion of (a + b)n in his 1303 treatise The Precious Mirror of the Four Elements. Chinese
mathematician, Chia Hsien (circa 1050) used the triangle to extract square and cube roots of
numbers. In addition, after Chia Hsien s discovery of the relationship between extracting roots
and the binomial coefficients of the triangle, work continued on this topic by several Chinese
algebraists to solve higher than cubic equations. Pascal s work on the triangle emanated from the
popularity of gambling. The triangle came to be known as Pascal s Triangle with Blaise Pascal s
completion of TraitГ© du triangle arithmГ©tique in 1654. Making use of the already known array
of binomial coefficients, Blaise Pascal developed many of the

Out of this Dayton relationship and a partnership with Norman Bartlett came the great Flying

for the city of Mexico (Throgmorton 72 93).
Miller held over 100 patents, and he invented many of the safety devices used in today s

backward if the lift chain breaks. Miller patented this ingenious device, which is the cause of the
clanking sound heard when the train is pulled up the hill, in 1910. Two years later, Miller
patented the brilliant invention of the under friction wheels. Coaster cars have three sets of
wheels: a weight bearing set riding on top of the track; a set inside the track keeping the cars on
course; and a third set the under friction wheels under the track, which lock the cars to the track
(Harris).
The next pioneer to be looked at would be Fredrick Church, who along with Harry Traver created
two of the most terrifying and extreme rides ever built, the Cyclones and the Bobs. These two
coasters became notorious and most feared due to their killer reputation because of all the injuries
and fatalities that occurred on them, but society was still enthused with the rides in light of the
tragedies. There is not much print out

Life and Work of Sam Shepard
Student Name Professor Name Class/Section 11 December 2012 Sam Shepard A Review
Summary Sam Shepard has undoubtedly established himself as one of the greatest living
American playwrights of this time, if not for the duration of American history. His upbringing
and experiences, both before and since his stardom erupted, have shaped his work and how he is
perceived and there is a litany of examples of this that can be easily culled and analyzed. This
report has several sections. The first section looks at what has shaped Mr. Shepard and what he
has become as it pertains to theater and the American lexicon. Second, Mr. Shepard s work
known as Buried Child will be compared to another one of Mr. Shepard s works. Third, a look at
the script of Buried Child will be under taken. Fourth, the production of Buried Child will be
assessed. The report will conclude with a character analysis of a character from Buried Child
and this will include some visual research of the same character assessed on the rest of this
section. Life of Sam Shepard In looking at what Mr. Shepard experienced growing up, it is not
hard to ascertain why he has such a unique and atypical perspective of life and America in
general. A son in a military family, he (like most military brats ) moved around a lot. However,
the common moves from place to place were fused with an alcoholic father that no doubt

DUNE 9th Grade Essay
DUNE Often there comes a book that I enjoy or never heard of before, yet there comes one book
that is both known for its legacy and impact on the world of literature. However, one book comes
along that is both a classic and legend in a certain genre. That one book in particular is the 1965
classic DUNEby Frank Herbert. Before I ever read the book, I already had some preexisting
knowledge thanks to the video games, the 1984 movie version by David Lynch, and a
documentary about a version by Alejandro Jodorowsky that never got made. So after reading the
book, my response is that DUNE is both remarkable and good.
The story of DUNE is set in a far future where humanity has evolved into a galactic empire that
expands all over the universe, but the main setting is set on a barren desert called Arrakis also
known as DUNE. Every noble house and a company try to gain control of the planet all because

creates the characters and their motivation along with their outcomes. An example of this is the
hero Paul Atreides, in the story he is considered to be The One who would lead about great
change to a tribe called the Freman. The reason for this is because the author leaves cryptic

Healthcare Technology of Today
Introduction
Healthcare technology has come a long way. I remember the days of putting my fingers on
patients wrists to take their pulse and looking up at the clock while counting, using manual blood
pressure cuffs and looking at their chest rise and fall to count for respirations. Today that picture is
very different, now, almost everything nurses do depends on the information they get from
electronic devices, and Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) professionals, are responsible
for the majority of those devices (Hayhurst, 2015). In the last four weeks we covered many topics
on nursing leadership and styles. First, I learned that time management, leadership theories, learning
styles, leadership and management are all essential parts of nursing. Second, I learned that
everyone has different types of personalities and what seems right to me, is not the only way. Third,
I learned about change theories, conflict theories and leaders as change agents. Also, the conflict
resolution questionnaire analysis showed me that my style of conflict resolution is Collaboration.
Last, I learned about emotional intelligence, communication styles, and the body language quiz
showed me that I have a strong ability to read other people. Nursing informatics and Healthcare

The Epidemic Of Ebola Virus Ebola
The virus Ebola, or formally known as Ebola haemorrhagic fever, is something most, if not all,
Americans have heard of in these past few months since it has taken American media by storm.
Ebola is a severe, often fatal illness, with an astonishingly high case fatality rate. It is considered
one of the world s most virulent diseases and is transmitted by direct contact with the blood, body
fluids and tissues of infected animals or people ( EbolaVirus Disease ). This, however, is not the
only aspect of Ebola that should be considered. Even though it is often difficult to accept that
humanity has an innate stereotypical attitude and a dormant racism that surfaces in times of
distress (like the Ebola outbreak), it is crucial to recognize that the virus Ebola has not only the
power to evoke physiological harm, but also political and social harm. It is slowly worsening an
already fragile Western society, weakened from previous years of blatant racism and constant fear.
Therefore, the naive American public should care to examine the virus Ebola from a sociological
viewpoint, in addition to a medical one. Western culture has peculiar views on global disease in the
twenty first century, especially since geographical location largely contributes to a global public
health inequality. Consequently, the American media s portrayal of people of color, specifically
Thomas Duncan and President Barack Obama, contributes to and sheds light on the healthcare
disparity in the United States.

not the main criteria in China. As a man, I think idealized feminine bodies are black long hair,

men work in the fields, the women with her dexterous hand weaving handmade goods. This
picture appears in the textbooks, because in a long time ago is the agricultural economy era, men
s main task is to do manual labor, and women in the lack of strength, they pay more attention to
detail, such as embroidery and weaving clothes. That era is a feudal society, they do not know what
feminism is, but men and women with different physical characteristics do a different division of
labor, make the greatest efforts to achieve

Justice In The Dreyfus Affair
The Dreyfus Affair is the most striking examples of a complex miscarriage of justice, and often
seen as a modern and universal symbol of injustice. Alfred Dreyfus, the youngest of nine
children born to RaphaГ«l and Jeannette Dreyfus, was born in Mulhouse, Alsace in 1859. As he
stated in his book called Five Years of my Life, Dreyfus first sorrow was the Franco Prussian
War, a war that never faded his memory. When peace was declared upon the Franco Prussian War,
Dreyfus states that my father chose the French nationality, and we had to leave Alsace (1). Once in
Paris, Dreyfus continued his studies. Seeing his family uprooted by the war with Germany
prompted Dreyfus to decide on a career in the military. Following years of experience in the... Show

This collaboration was the revenge of the nationalist right wing elements that had failed to
overthrow the government. Also Colonel Paul Gaujac s discharge in February 1994 after
submitting reports of Dreyfus s innocence, was also a repercussion of the Dreyfus Affair. This
latent anti Semitism that the French population had been storing finally burst out on every scale
of society. This outburst was due to discontent triggered by various social and economical
changes decreed by the government in the final quarter of the 19th century. Before the affair,
France had been one of the least anti Semitic countries in Europe, but anti Semitism only started
to seriously appear in an article written by Drumont in 1886 claiming that a Jewish invasion was
occurring. At the time only an insignificant fraction of France was anti Semitic, but this seed of
hatred spread throughout France, playing a major role in the division of French politics; as well
as being a major reason why the Dreyfus Affair politically divided France in such drastic way. The
day after the government had mentioned that a Jewish officer was suspected of treason, outbursts
of anti Semitism eventuated. Anti Semitic newspapers display Dreyfus as a traitor, while others
decided to wait for the verdict before publishing their opinions. On December 22nd, 1884, the juries

Working Capital Financing and Credit Appraisal
I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The project brings out various aspects of working capital
management and the means to get it financed from banks. It starts with explanation of the
concept of working capital, description of working capital cycle, management and financing of
working capital. This is supplemented by a brief explanation of the working capital financing of
M/s Paras Organics Private Limited. It should be noted that business transactions are generally
carried on credit with a number of days elapsing subsequent to the sale being affected for
realization of sale proceeds. While part of the raw materials may be purchased on credit, the

Thus, Gross Working Capital = Total Current Assets. * Net Working Capital: It refers to the
difference between current assets and current liabilities. Current liabilities refer to those claims
which are expected to mature for payment within an operating cycle and include creditors, bills
payable, outstanding expenses and bank overdraft. It can be positive or negative. A positive net
working capital occurs when current assets exceed current liabilities and a negative working
capital occurs when current liabilities exceed current assets. Net Working Capital = Gross
Working Capital or Current Assets Current Liabilities Net working capital can alternatively
defined as that part of the current assets which are financed with long term funds. Now, let us have
a look at some of the other interesting concepts of working capital: * Zero Working Capital: Zero
Working Capital = Inventories + Receivables Payables. The rationale behind this concept is that
inventories and receivables are the major constituents of current assets which affect sales. Further,
suppliers finance inventories through accounts payable. * Permanent Working Capital: It refers to a
certain minimum level of current assets which is essential for the firm to carry on its business
irrespective of the level of operations. This is the irreducible minimum amount necessary

The Snowstorm And The Burning Of The Houses Of Parliament
The first passage analyzes two of Turner s late paintings, The Snowstorm and The Burning of the
Houses of Parliament. The second passage critiques Turner s early painting style. A comparison
of the two passages shows the evolution of not only Turner s painting style but also his goals in
painting. In the second passage, John Berger describes Turner s early landscape paintings as
having far more to do with art than nature (215). His art has a kind of restlessness or desperation
(215). Turner s early paintings emulate the style of great artists before him, such as Claude Lorrain
and the first Dutch landscapists. This imitation or pastiche of the masters, gives his paintings a
contrived feeling, as Turner attempted to paint not what he saw,

Narrative Essay On Try America
Try America. Who knew that this foreign land would be where a girl, sixteen years of age,
would be living, maybe, for the rest of her life. It had always been her dream to live in a house
where it almost looks like a palace compared to the houses back in her motherland. It had always
been her dream to stroll the streets of an unfamiliar place in luck to quench the burning thirst of
adventure within her. She loves the thought of adventure. She loves the thought of exploring a
new world where many are unfamiliar to her. To see a world where there are no dust rising from
the filthy grounds like of those of her former neighborhood. To see a world where the roads are
as clean and smooth as a polished obsidian. To see a world where the trees are as green as a
peridot. That sixteen year old girl is me. Strolling the streets of my former neighborhood had
been fun and was an epic adventure. An adventure to see children playing happily in the streets,
conversations between mothers over their worn down wooden fences, and fathers who are lazily
sitting on a chair under a tree smoking a cigarette. Those were the image that are embedded in
my brain. From this neighborhood, I learned how even in some troublesome circumstances,
everyone helps each other. Considering everyone knows who is who. Everyone is polite to each
other. Everyone is kind. Their are some occasional fights from idiotic hooligans but it always ends
about an argument over a bottle of beer. Gazing at stars had always been

The Effects Of Coral Bleaching On Coral Reefs
Coral reefs are unique and diverse underwater marine ecosystems that are found in many parts of
the world. Today these tropical reefs suffer a great deal of environmental stresses and are projected
to decline over the next century due to global warming. In Grottoli s article: The cumulative impact
of annual coralbleaching can turn some coral species winners into losers, she elaborates on the
effects of annual bleaching on three species of coral. Grottoli took three species of coral such as
O. Faveolata, P.asreoides P.divaricata and exposed the treatment groups to high temperatures of
31.5 В°C for 15 days while control groups remained at a normal temperature of 30.6 В°C for the
same amount of days. After treatment species were then weighed and... Show more content on

Such high level of energy reserve is a good indication of over all health and ability to acclimate to
harsh environments. An endosymbiont level is a measurement of other beneficial cells that lives
on the coral and forms a symbiotic relationship. Researchers recorded their results and then
repeated the experiment on the same corals a year later to see the effects of repeated high
temperatures as a model for annual coral bleaching as a result of global warming. Upon completion
of the experiment Grottoli and her team of researchers noted, yearly bleaching can dramatically
alter the thermal tolerance of corals (Grottoli s, 2014). Interestingly enough, while the majority of
the species decreased in all variables compared to controls, P.divaricata increased in energy
reserves at about 20 45% higher than controls after the second treatment. This increase in total
energy reserve lead to a reduction in the susceptibility to coral bleaching for that species. Thus,
suggests that this species of coral can adapt to high temperatures after the first event of bleaching
occurs. Conversely, due to its low energy reserves and its low potential to increase endosymbiont
levels, P.asreoides is not likely acclimatize to higher temperatures thus resulting in low abundance
of the species in future

The Socialization Of Lesbian Clients
One of the issues that should be addressed in treatment is the socialization that lesbian clients
participate in. In treatment, it is necessary to give any client tools for recovery. These tools should
include alternative activities that do not revolve around the getting and using of alcohol and drugs.
This may be a difficultly task when dealing with LGBTclients especially since there are not many
options for socialization besides bars, clubs, or parties. In Oklahoma there are about 333 thousand
same sex couples per the 2010 Census (The Williams Institute, 2011). Oklahoma has some
programs and organizations that give the LGBT community different opportunities where they can
meet other members without being surrounded by alcohol and drugs. Two main organizations are
specific geared towards lesbians. Herland offers social and educational services that focus on
lesbian issues but is offer to all women (Herland, 2008). Herland is an excellent organization to
recommend to lesbian clients located in Oklahoma. The second organization is known as
OKCLesbian. Additionally, OKCLesbian offers substitutions for socializations at bars, clubs, and
church. They often have large dinner events called Lez Eat where local lesbians can get together,
have fun, and enjoy a nice meal together. Giving clients different choices to socialize in sobriety
may perhaps increase their likelihood of staying sober and finding new friends to enjoy it with.

Although a consultant was brought in, during the interviews the situation got even worse.
Important negotiations about the JV did not advance. The four key central points on which the
problem is based were the following: Firstly, in Mr. Meier`s view the negotiations just did not
advance. Secondly, Mr. Meier thought the negotiations were not being conducted effectively.
Thirdly, the Headquarter in Germany puts a lot of pressure on Mr. Meier to get it done very
quickly. And finally Mr. Meier was angry with Mr. Wang and screamed at him that he was no
longer prepared to be kept waiting. 3 Analysis and solutions of the case 3.1 Problems and
underlying cultural differences Concerning the interviews there seem to be a number of cultural
differences. The first key issue is Responsibility. While the German Manager Mr. Meier thinks that
the Chinese don t take responsibility, the Chinese Manager Mr. Wang doesn t feel they are given
any. For the German side, taking responsibility means acting independently within a predefined

Derek Fullerton, RS/REHS,CHO
Director of Public Health healthdirector@townofmiddleton.org 978 777 1869
The public health director would be an excellent person to have on the committee team, because the
director would know of current issues within the town that relate to public health. They would have
the training on health impact assessments, and they would be able to consider both environmental
and social determinant factors when discussing the public health for the town.
Traci Mello, RN, BSN
Public Health Nurse phn@townofmiddleton.org 978 777 1869
The public health nurse has the extra medical training and understanding of human health that
would bring a more clinical aspect to the committee team. It makes sense to ask this person the
chronic health issues and what choices would help improve the quality of life for the citizens.
Mello worked on the Hiking for Health History of Middleton brochure that promoted hiking and
walking to improve health.

Truth and Goodness in Immanuel Kant and St. Thomas...
Immanuel Kant and St. Thomas Aquinas account for the existence of truth in sharply contrasting
ways. Kant locates all truth inside the mind, as a pure product of reason, operating by means of
rational categories. Although Kant acknowledges that all knowledge originates in the intuition of
the senses, the intelligibility of sense experience he attributes to innateforms of apperception and to
categoriesinherent to the mind. The innate categories shape the phenomena of sensible being, and
Kantclaims nothing can be known or proved about the noumena, the presumed world external to the
mind.1 Aquinas agrees that all knowledge comes through the senses, but disagrees with Kant in
arguing that categorical qualities do not originate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two views of truth have divergent consequences for ethics. Aquinas philosophy produces a
tradition of moral clarity that endures to the present, while the philosophy of Kant leads ultimately
to the cultural relativism and moral skepticism that are widespread in the modern world.
For Immanuel Kant, truth is accessible to the mind only because it derives from rational categories
already in the mind. Although knowledge begins in the senses, Kant claims, besides what is given
to the sensuous intuition, special concepts must yet be superadded concepts which have their origin
wholly a priori in the pure understanding, and under which every perception must be first of all
subsumed and then by their means changed into experience. 6 The sources of such synthetic a
priori concepts are categories inherent in reason, and Kant supplies a table of such categories,
including in it: Unity (measure), Plurality (magnitude), Totality (whole), Reality, Negation,
Limitation, Substance, Cause, Community, Possibility, Existence, and Necessity.7 Thus, the
understanding of any perceived thing as a whole entity, or as having an independent material
existence, or as being caused by anything, or as itself the cause of anything has its origin in rational
categories in the mind and is not traceable to any essential quality or state of being that can be
attributed to the thing in itself, according to Kant.

Beowulf Vs Dante The Pilgrim
What is a hero? Maya Angelou believed that a hero is any person really intent on making this a
better place for all people. When the word hero comes to my mind, I see someone who is noble in
character and is respected for his or her brave actions. A Christian hero is someone who displays
qualities of a regular herobut has qualities that are similar to characteristics of Jesus Christ. Jesus
was a man who was humble, courageous, and a man who helped others. Beowulf is a better
example of a Christian hero than Dante the Pilgrim because Beowulf exemplifies the characteristics
of humbleness, being courageous, and helping others more than Dante the Pilgrim does. For a hero

There are 3 occasions that Beowulf helps others. The first occasion is when Beowulf goes to
visit King Hrothgar and the king begs him to help and to fight Grendel for him and his kingdom
(Beowulf, 455 458). The second occasion is when King Hrothgar beseeched Beowulf to go and
battle Grendel s mother (Beowulf, 2131). The third occasion is when King Hygelac is killed and
his wife wants Beowulf to take over as king because she believes that her son is too young to lead
and protect the kingdom. But instead Beowulf honors, guides and provides support for the prince
(Beowulf, 2365 2378). In contrast, Dante the Pilgrim does not help others. Yes, he is seen as a
character who pities the sinners at first but he does not help them. Instead, he wants to know their
names and stories so he can put it into his notes (Inferno, XXXII). Dante the Pilgrim is using the
sinners for their stories and does not care to help them at least feel better. A Christian hero is
characterized for helping others because that is what Jesus did. Beowulf was a helpful person to
others, while Dante the Pilgrim did not seem to help no one that asked for his

Compare American and Chinese Universities
Compare American and Chinese Universities
American universities and Chinese universities have very different admission requirements.
American universities, most of them, offer fall term and spring term enrollments, and some schools
even offer winter term or summer term enrollments as well. When they make a decision of whether
to admit an applicant, they consider the applicant s GPA and SAT score, and sometimes give
privileges to students who demonstrate their achievements on extra curricula activities. Because
most of American universities accept both types of freshman and transfer students, students who
are not able to enroll at a four year university right after they graduate from high school can still

By this system, students have flexibility to choose a class and schedule a course roadmap that
outlines the courses students take within the terms. Students can take courses on fall term and
spring term at semester system schools, and fall term, winter term and spring term at quarter
system schools. Many schools offer a summer session for students as well. Therefore, each student
would have their unique class schedule and course roadmap based on their own preference. On the
contrary, Chinese universities have a very different system called academic year system, which
means students graduate when they finish certain years of study. By this system, students are
required to declare their majors very early in which on the application form when they apply for
the school. Since the major is decided, students have to follow the school made course roadmap to
take most of the courses. Students in Chinese universities may have a few choices on choosing a
different instructor or different class time for the general education classes, but they have very
limited choices for the major classes. Moreover, all the universities in China do not offer summer
session. Consequently, in most circumstances, same major students who enrolled in the school in
the same year probably have same class schedule each semester, especially on junior and senior
level. Therefore, based on the education system, American university students and Chinese

Analysis Of The Yellow Wall-Paper And The Fall Of The...
Can architecture truly shape the mental healths of an individual? This question has been
brought into light from the novels The Yellow Wall Paper and The Fall of the House of Usher.
The relationship of the main character s mental health to the architecture of the setting in both
novels shows a deterioration in character health. The Yellow Wallpaper novel is taken place in a
nursery and the wallpaper is described as irritating and provoking. In Fall of the House of Usher,
the novel is taken house where you feel a sense of insufferable gloom. The health of the
characters can be depicted from these areas and creates a scene of disorder and insanity. In the
novel, The Yellow Wall Paper, the narrator is introduced to the audience as someone who seems
normal. She has a husband and a child as well. The narrator begins writing her journal and
explaining to us that she has been taken into a summer vacation home wit her husband. She at
first describes the house to be an more expensive place and questions their ability to purchase the
house. However, she soon begins to explain to us her disorder and how her husband John and her
brother as well, doesn t believe in her disorder. John gives her a simple treatment and solution to
her issues, he explains to his wife that the treatment she will receive is to do nothing active and
that she will get better if she stays in her room in the attic. This room is described as It was nursery

Summer Caning
The Summer Caning happened 1856, in Washington D.C. Only three main people were involved in
this event, Charles Sumner, Preston Brooks, and Andrew Butler.
What started the caning was Charles Sumner s speech on, Crime Against Kansas In his speech he
also insulted Andrew Butler by comparing prostitutes to slavery. The prostitute being Andrew
Butler s wife. many people told Sumner not to, but he did anyway. Since he did this Andrew
Butler s cousin goes to the Senate and beats Sumner with a cane. His cousin Preston Brooks beat
Sumner so severely, that he didn t come back to the senate for 3 more years. The northerners

rebellion, by giving weapons the slaves, so they would kill their owners with the weapons from
the arsenal. Local citizens and federal troops quickly stopped them, Brown himself was
convicted of treason and murder and was sentenced to be hung. An uproar in the North started,
some northerners disliked what Brown had done. While many of the others thought he was a
hero for his act of bravery. He was later called a martyr, a person who dies for what he believes in,
by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
His death became a very big controversial topic, and both north and south had split extremely. The
south was now scared that the abolitionist that favored John Brown, were going to start a

Quiznos is diversified fast food restaurant or eatery spot that first began situated in Denver, Colorado that spends significant time in offering toasted submarine sandwiches. It was established in 1981 by Jimmy Lambatos who wasi a Denver food industry veteran who got his start in the early 1970s as executive chef at the storied Colorado Mine Co. steakhouse in Glendale. After cooking meals for local celebrities and visiting stars including Elvis Presley and the Rolling Stones, Lambatos left to start his own northern Italian restaurant in 1978 called Footers. He then created Quiznos with a friend of his named Todd Disner.and sold to Rick and Richard Schaden ten years after the fact, before developing to about 5,000 eateries a while later. There are several reasons why a organization such as quiznos are failing and are very close to ending, the organization had developed to 5,000 units. While the organization offered delectable subs, Metro could without much of a stretch purchase toasters. By presenting toasted subs in 2005, Metro copied Quiznos blueprint in creating the sub but making it much better. After one year, Quiznos started to go through a downfall in their franchise. • 3. Racial Tensions In The United States For centuries, many political and civil rights activist have taken a stance against the growing racial tensions that have persisted with in the United States. Even though the racial problems facing this country today are not as transparent as in the past, the underlying prejudice still remains. For instance, President Trump s campaign used disapproving religious and racial views to gain support which subsequently escalated the already strained racial relations. Even though political elections are anonymous in the eye of the public, society has shaped anyone out who voted for Donald Trump to essentially be Caucasian. • 4. The Yellow Press Book Summary 1. The Yellow Press as defined in our book was a battle to sell more newspapers that pitted the New York World owned by Joseph Pulitzer and the New York Journal owned by William Randolph Hearst against one another (book p. A 70). Hearst used the color yellow to print his comics mixing facts with sensationalizing accounts of crime and political corruption with aggressive appeals to patriot sentiments (book p. 667). Pulitzer and Hearst send reporters to Cuba. They sent back reports of Spanish cruelty some of which are factual and some that were not. These stories begin to rile the American people. Also at this time, Thomas Edison invents the motion picture camera and people are shown newsreels of the Cuban struggles. Atrocities are shown... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Filipinos had been fighting the Spanish prior to the arrival of the U.S. Aguinaldo knew he needed a major power to help him with his struggle. Aguinaldo met with Dewey in Hong Kong and sailed with him to the Philippines. After Dewey s naval victory in the Manila Bay, Aguinaldo believed he could begin Filipino independence so he formed his government based on the U.S. Constitution. However, the U. S. turned against him when they annexed the island nation. McKinley justified his position saying it would take them 100 years to understand what true freedom means (book, p.672). At the time of the insurrection, America was becoming aware of the atrocities committed by American troops such as the burning of villages, torture of POW s, and rape and execution of civilians (book, p.677). Aguinaldo was not treated fairly at all. If the U.S. was not so short sighted, he could have founded his government. We could have had a stronger ally during WWII. We were lucky the Japanese were more brutal than we were. However, in our defense, we did our best to Americanize the island nation by modernizing their infrastructure, education and medical treatment systems (book, p. 672). Why was this war so little remembered by the American people? I believe this had a lot to do with Douglas McArthur. He loved the Filipino people and it about killed him to leave them to the Japanese. He vowed to return and return he did. He along with his Filipino guerillas defeated the Japanese. After winning WWII, the Philippines were granted their independence. I believe this is why no one knows about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the other hand, I could go on and on about the differences of the culture of Trinidadfrom my own. For instance, the locals are very aggressive drivers who only use road signs as a suggestion. In Trinidad, cutting off other people, driving in and out of traffic, and occasionally stopping at stop signs and red lights is completely normal. Their driving is very aggressive, yet every driver that I rode with was very calm. They didn t have the typical road rage like we do in America. There is always a lot of traffic in Trinidad, especially in the morning and in the late afternoons. The reason for this traffic is due to the amount of people that live on the island Trinidad is populated with about 1.2 million people. The island can fit into Ohio over 22 and a half times. At night, the island is covered in lights. At first, it looked like a big city with lights everywhere, but it turned out that it was a bunch of houses. There are numerous houses everywhere to house the population that I was amazed by the amount of light on the island. My culture back home could greatly benefit from the laid back lifestyle of Trinidad. In America, we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Martin Luther Essay Martin Luther Martin Luther was a German theologian and religious reformer, who started the Protestant Reformation, and whose vast influence during his time period made him one of the crucial figures in modern European history. Both the exact date and the location of this experience have been a matter of controversy among scholars, but the event was crucial in Luther s life, because it turned him decisively against some of the major tenets of the Catholic church. Luther became a public and controversial figure when he published his Ninety Five Theses on October 31, 1517. His main purpose of writing the theses was to show his opposition for the corruption and wealth of the papacy and to state his belief that salvation would be granted on the basis of faith alone rather then by works. Although it is generally believed that Luther nailed these theses to the door of All Saints Church in Wittenberg, some scholars have questioned this story, which does not occur in any of his own writings. Regardless of the manner in which his propositions were made public, they caused great excitement and were immediately translated into German and widely distributed . Luther s spirited defense and further development of his position through public university debates in Wittenberg and other cities resulted in an investigation by the Roman Curia that led to the condemnation of his teachings and his excommunication. Summoned to appear before Charles V at the Diet of Worms in April 1521, he was asked before the assembled secular and ecclesiastical rulers to recant. He refused firmly, ... Each theory will be broken down into it s own section of synopsis and then assessment of Dasani to give a better understanding of her spiritual and cultural dimensions and her physical environment. Fowler s Stages of Faith Development Synopsis James Fowler developed his stages of faith after conduction in depth interviews of 359 people. The sample subjects were predominately white, with equal numbers of males and females and included a wide range of ages, from three and a half to 84 years old. Fowler s interviews consisted of 30 plus questions regarding the subject s life experiences, relationships, values, commitments and religion. After analyzing the responses, Fowler placed each subject in one of six faith stages. The responses indicated that as the subject s age increased, so did their stage of faith (Hutchison, 2015). Fowler saw faith as greater than religious faith and viewed it as a universal aspect of human existence (Hutchison, 2015). The ultimate environment is an important element of Fowler s theory. He saw faith as not only an internal image but also how one relates to that image. Faith is not an unchangeable image or idea, but a way of being. The six stages of ... Mussolini s rise to power took place mainly due to a combination of conditions that characterized the liberal Italian state, which existed before his take over. The main factors that led to Mussolini s rise to power were the impact of the First World War, the weaknesses of the Risorgimento, the Biennio Rosso , the elite s support for the Fascist Party, and the March on Rome. The First World War had started reinforcing nationalism, and a desire of great achievements and glory for the nation. These sudden nationalist beliefs created among the Italians of the Risorgimento were made stronger by the fear of a possible socialist revolution. VO2max is a reproducible measure of an individual s cardiovascular system s ability to deliver the required oxygenated blood to a large muscle mass involved in exercise (1). The determination of an individual s VO2max is commonly used to assess levels of physical fitness, as well as develop and monitor training programs for athletes. After several interviews were conducted measuring the test subject s responses to a number of different violent scenes, twenty six subjects are finally chosen and are split into two categories: six of them as guards and twenty of them as prisoners. All of these men are considered to be the most psychologically stable and healthy of all of the applicants. The groups were deliberately selected to exclude those with criminal backgrounds, psychological impairments, or medical problems. They then are driven to an isolated building set up as a prison. • 32. Blue Jays Case Study The Toronto Blue Jays recent success, shown in large by the team s first playoff berth in 22 years, has boosted ticket prices at an exponential rate. Through the use of economic concepts and the book Cocktail Party Economics, the change in prices can be explained further in depth. While any Blue Jays enthusiast could tell that the price boost is due to the increase in the team s popularity, one with a working knowledge of economics could explain that the price increase is a factor of scarcity, demand equilibrium. Scarcity, simply put, is the underlying reason why economics and markets exist: the fact that there is not enough of a good for everyone who wants one to have one. In Cocktail Party Economics, the author gives an example of having 10 stones that 20 different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a limited number of seats in a stadium, and thus there is a limit to the number of tickets to sell, resulting in only the most dedicated and faithful fans paying large prices to see the playoff games. After the Jays improved performance in the regular season and the increased popularity of the team, it would be easy to simply say that playoff tickets are in higher demand. However, we must turn to economics to explain why demand has increased. Demand refers to how much of a good the market will buy at any given price. For this reason, it is important to understand that price changes, whether they be increasing or decreasing, do not change demand В they change the quantity demanded. During the first half of the baseball season, the Blue Jays had a worse record and were not expected to be in the playoff team for that simple reason that they rarely sold out their games, despite the tickets being at a lower price point than present. However, today tickets sell out mere hours after being put to market as consumer preferences changed in favour of the team. • 33. Pascal s Triangle And The Triangle Pascal s Triangle is named after the seventeenth century mathematician and philosopher, Blaise Pascal. However, several other mathematicians knew about and utilized the triangle before Pascal s birth in 1623. In the twelfth century, both Persian and Chinese mathematicians were trying to create an arithmetical triangle that is easy to construct and that gives the coefficients of the expansion of the algebraic expression expression (a + b)n for different integer values of n. Pascal s Triangle was first discovered by Chinese mathematician, Yang Hui, and rediscovered 500 years later by the French mathematician, Blaise Pascal (1623 62). The Chinese mathematician, Chu Shih Chieh, depicted the triangle and indicated its use in providing coefficients for the binomial expansion of (a + b)n in his 1303 treatise The Precious Mirror of the Four Elements. Chinese mathematician, Chia Hsien (circa 1050) used the triangle to extract square and cube roots of numbers. In addition, after Chia Hsien s discovery of the relationship between extracting roots and the binomial coefficients of the triangle, work continued on this topic by several Chinese algebraists to solve higher than cubic equations. Pascal s work on the triangle emanated from the popularity of gambling. The origins of the roller coaster will probably never be a settled issue, historians and coaster enthusiasts could argue where it all began (Harris). One of his contributions was the safety chain dog, which prevents the train from rolling backward if the lift chain breaks. Miller patented this ingenious device, which is the cause of the clanking sound heard when the train is pulled up the hill, in 1910. Two years later, Miller patented the brilliant invention of the under friction wheels. Coaster cars have three sets of wheels: a weight bearing set riding on top of the track; a set inside the track keeping the cars on course; and a third set the under friction wheels under the track, which lock the cars to the track (Harris). The next pioneer to be looked at would be Fredrick Church, who along with Harry Traver created two of the most terrifying and extreme rides ever built, the Cyclones and the Bobs. These two coasters became notorious and most feared due to their killer reputation because of all the injuries and fatalities that occurred on them, but society was still enthused with the rides in light of the tragedies. His upbringing and experiences, both before and since his stardom erupted, have shaped his work and how he is perceived and there is a litany of examples of this that can be easily culled and analyzed. Before I ever read the book, I already had some preexisting knowledge thanks to the video games, the 1984 movie version by David Lynch, and a documentary about a version by Alejandro Jodorowsky that never got made. So after reading the book, my response is that DUNE is both remarkable and good. The Epidemic Of Ebola Virus Ebola The virus Ebola, or formally known as Ebola haemorrhagic fever, is something most, if not all, Americans have heard of in these past few months since it has taken American media by storm. Ebola is a severe, often fatal illness, with an astonishingly high case fatality rate. It is considered one of the world s most virulent diseases and is transmitted by direct contact with the blood, body fluids and tissues of infected animals or people ( EbolaVirus Disease ). This, however, is not the only aspect of Ebola that should be considered. Even though it is often difficult to accept that humanity has an innate stereotypical attitude and a dormant racism that surfaces in times of distress (like the Ebola outbreak), it is crucial to recognize that the virus Ebola has not only the power to evoke physiological harm, but also political and social harm. It is slowly worsening an already fragile Western society, weakened from previous years of blatant racism and constant fear. Therefore, the naive American public should care to examine the virus Ebola from a sociological viewpoint, in addition to a medical one. Western culture has peculiar views on global disease in the twenty first century, especially since geographical location largely contributes to a global public health inequality. Consequently, the American media s portrayal of people of color, specifically Thomas Duncan and President Barack Obama, contributes to and sheds light on the healthcare disparity in the United States. ... At the time only an insignificant fraction of France was anti Semitic, but this seed of hatred spread throughout France, playing a major role in the division of French politics; as well as being a major reason why the Dreyfus Affair politically divided France in such drastic way. The day after the government had mentioned that a Jewish officer was suspected of treason, outbursts of anti Semitism eventuated. Such high level of energy reserve is a good indication of over all health and ability to acclimate to harsh environments. An endosymbiont level is a measurement of other beneficial cells that lives on the coral and forms a symbiotic relationship. Researchers recorded their results and then repeated the experiment on the same corals a year later to see the effects of repeated high temperatures as a model for annual coral bleaching as a result of global warming. Upon completion of the experiment Grottoli and her team of researchers noted, yearly bleaching can dramatically alter the thermal tolerance of corals (Grottoli s, 2014). Interestingly enough, while the majority of the species decreased in all variables compared to controls, P.divaricata increased in energy reserves at about 20 45% higher than controls after the second treatment. This increase in total energy reserve lead to a reduction in the susceptibility to coral bleaching for that species. Thus, suggests that this species of coral can adapt to high temperatures after the first event of bleaching occurs. Kant locates all truth inside the mind, as a pure product of reason, operating by means of rational categories. Although Kant acknowledges that all knowledge originates in the intuition of the senses, the intelligibility of sense experience he attributes to innateforms of apperception and to categoriesinherent to the mind. The innate categories shape the phenomena of sensible being, and Kantclaims nothing can be known or proved about the noumena, the presumed world external to the mind.1 Aquinas agrees that all knowledge comes through the senses, but disagrees with Kant in arguing that categorical qualities do not originate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two views of truth have divergent consequences for ethics. Aquinas philosophy produces a tradition of moral clarity that endures to the present, while the philosophy of Kant leads ultimately to the cultural relativism and moral skepticism that are widespread in the modern world. For Immanuel Kant, truth is accessible to the mind only because it derives from rational categories already in the mind. Although knowledge begins in the senses, Kant claims, besides what is given to the sensuous intuition, special concepts must yet be superadded concepts which have their origin wholly a priori in the pure understanding, and under which every perception must be first of all subsumed and then by their means changed into experience. 6 The sources of such synthetic a priori concepts are categories inherent in reason, and Kant supplies a table of such categories, including in it: Unity (measure), Plurality (magnitude), Totality (whole), Reality, Negation, Limitation, Substance, Cause, Community, Possibility, Existence, and Necessity.7 Thus, the understanding of any perceived thing as a whole entity, or as having an independent material existence, or as being caused by anything, or as itself the cause of anything has its origin in rational categories in the mind and is not traceable to any essential quality or state of being that can be attributed to the thing in itself, according to Kant. ...
