Using Trademe As My Case
I have chosen to use TradeMe as my case. TradeMe is an online website that connects sellers to buyers
and also buyers to sellers. TradeMe is the middle man or connection between both parties. The selling
of goods or services works through an auction system instead of the classic, one price and that is it.
This system benefits both buyers and sellers, the buyer can get products for cheap and sellers could
also get a lot more than anticipated from their goods or services. TradeMe is a New Zealand based
website and has quickly became a very popular site, having over 3.9 million active users, and 7.7
thousand people visiting the site every day (TradeMe, April 2016).
New New media is communication channels that have been created recently. These channels interact
with the user and give the user the ability to talk and communicate between other users in real time.
Social networking is a prime example of new new media, blogs, Twitter or even YouTube all fall into
the category of new new media, were as emails would fall into new media due to their introduction
times and limiting factors. New new media summed up is users interacting with other users on a
massive scale. Let us single out YouTube as an example, YouTube gives users with massive
interaction through: likes, dislikes, shares, favourites or even reports. The content creators can get
feedback in many different forms on their creations, the biggest feedback tool being the comments
section, were users can share their ideas,

Informational Constraints
1. Chapter eight describes three broader goals of one s audience in addition to those discussed earlier
in the textbook. One of these is security. Another is professional growth. As the textbook notes, people
want to develop and grow on the job...they want to learn more skills and assume new duties...and they
want to work for an organization that is developing and growing (Markel, 2012). 2. Constraints within
technical writing are things such as the amount of information that can be gathered for a paper, the
required length and format, the due date, etc. (Markel, 2012), that impact the writing process. These
often help a writer compose a document however they also can be a hindrance as well. An example of

A commonsense argument is one that appeals to a person s understanding and experience of how the
world works. The textbook notes, if your audience s commonsense arguments match yours, your
argument is likely to be persuasive. Often, people can act in mysterious ways, and this is an effective
way to present an argument. Like the University of Maryland s University College notes on their
website, Clear thinking requires that you state your claim and support it with concrete, specific facts.
This approach appeals to our common sense... ( Writing Arguments, 2011). 7. One type of argument is
one that argues against the writer themselves, instead of against the writer s argument. This is known
as a ad hominem argument, or an argument against the speaker (Markel, 2012) according to the
textbook. Ad hominem arguments are useful in convincing someone to do something or of a side of
something because of a characteristic they possess. These arguments are logical fallacies that are
colloquially known as mistakes in reasoning ( What is..., n.d.) that are often not mistakes that can help
writers and speakers win persuasive

Comparison Of Apple s IOS And Android OS
Comparison of Apple s IOS and Android OS Nowadays, smartphones have been an irreplaceable and
indispensable part of people s daily life. What makes the smartphones so smart is the OS, in other
words, the operation system. The OS is the basic and soul of a smartphone, which means if the phone
is the body, then the OS is the neural network and intellectual system to control the body. Among
diverse operation systems, Apple s IOS and Android OS are the most outstanding, they have occupied
about 96 percent of the whole global smartphone market together. They are both widely used and liked
by individuals but they also have own advantages and disadvantages. The first difference is in
Customizability. Accessing and completing control over the devices is available the bootloader can
also be unlocked by Android users while that is not available for IOS users. Users of IOS are highly
limited to customize it unless jailbreak, but after jailbreak, the Apple Company will be no longer and
no need to keep its promise on the products because jailbreak is banned by the official. The OS of
Android is totally different, users can change almost everything if they want to. This difference comes
from the different source model, which is closed, with open source component in IOS and open in
Android. The iOS kernel is not an open source but is based on the open source Darwin OS while the
Kernel, UI, and some standard apps of Android are all open source. As a result, Android can be more

Examples Of Multiple Intelligences
Theoretical Framework
The theory related in this study is the Gardner s multiple Intelligences focusing on the Bodily

forms of intelligences about the eightprimary intelligences proposed by Dr. Howard Gardner last 1983
from his book Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences. That includes visual/spatial,
verbal/linguistic, logical/mathematical, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalist, existentialist
and bodily kinesthetic. In this study the intelligence includes is Bodily Kinesthetic. Gardner (1999)

intelligences provided a new definition of human nature, cognitively speaking (Gardner, 1999).

Utilitarianism In Movie
Decisions, Decisions
We all have seen how in the movies, the main characters decide to take on the situation presented in
front of them. Some of would think I would of have it differently, or ask why would you do that?
These actions can be defined through the term Utilitarianism. In detail, on Utilitarianism, it is a theory
in which it is a concern action that will result the utmost amount of pleasure, or happiness, to the vast
numbers of persons. (pg.138) In the most part, Utilitarianism can be connected with Consequentialism
an action is morally required just because it produces the best overall results. (pg.121) This is simply
defined as good actions results in happiness. (pg.119) However, a better understanding follows the

Plato indicates that I) Either God has reasons or lacks them for His commands. II) If God lacks
reasons that support His commands, then God s commands are arbitrary and that renders God
imperfect, undermining His moral authority. III) If God has reasons that supports His commands, then
these reasons rather than the divine commands, are what makes action right or wrong, thereby refuting
the Divine Command Theory. IV) Therefore, either God is imperfect, or the Divine Command Theory
is false. V) God is not imperfect. VI) Therefore, the Divine Command Theory is false.

The Pros And Cons Of An Entrepreneur
Entrepreneur is the individual who starts a business with new products or services with lots of
freedom and faces different risk of failures. On the other hand intrapreneur is the individual who
works under the entrepreneur as an employee. Though the intrapreneur is given the authority of
creating new product, he does not faces any risk of failure of generating revenue and profit by those
products.
According to a research body entrepreneur bears all risk of a business because he collects necessary
resources or capital from various sources and also gives guarantees to repay whereas the intrapreneur
does not bears any risk because he does not have any responsibility to raise fianace and to repay those

During the time of generating idea of new products or services or formation of the firm, an
entrepreneur must think about the culture of a country. To establish or to operate any business in a
country the entrepreneur must follow that country s culture. Without considering the culture if he
produces any product, that product will not be sold in the market (Diederichs, 2008). And usually the
company will make loss. Research department says that, culture is a sympathetic part of the
consumers. Though they sometime accept other culture, most of the time they try to follow it. Another
argument is the entrepreneur should government s rule and regulation to launch a business firm.
Governments have different rules and regulation to different kinds of business such as tax regulation,
laws for employee, etc. So, to launch a business entrepreneur must follow the government s rules and
regulations. James Dyson has followed government s rules when he launched his business named
Dyson Company. Dyson Company pays tax to the government. It also follows the employee laws and

The Boom in Robotic Population
Introduction According to the report of International Federation of Robotics in 2008 the world s robot
population has reached 8.6 million. That is a little less than the population of New Jersey (Guizzo,
Erico). From this data it is clear that lots of people do not realize how much they are surrounded by
robots already at the present time. Additionally from year to year number of these robots is growing as
technology and science are developing faster than it seems. This essay will discuss drawbacks and
benefits of using robots in the future, by evaluating negative and positive impacts of robotics.
Research will begin by evaluating the economic factors of using robots. It will then proceed to
investigate the social factors and will analyze the judgments of society. Main body Economic factors
of using robots From the economic point of view using robots is not advantageous. Firstly in the
future some jobs will become extinct. According to Rob Rawson, co founder of Staff.com, after
serious crashes caused by a human operated air traffic controller, in 2034 the government will
mandate that all air traffic must be controlled by Artificial Intelligence agents. Moreover in 2028
Google is going to produce perfect audio translator, indistinguishable from the best bi linguists. It
means that human translators and interpreters will lose their working places. Similarly as self driving
cars become main stream, there will be no need for taxi drivers by 2038 (Rawson, Rob). To conclude

Papers On Child Sexual Abuse
Child sexual abuse is a subject that has received much attention in recent years and has caused some
concern s in our society. Sexual abuse is when one person dominates and exploits another person by
the means of suggestion or sexual activity. This form of abuse continues to pose serious and pervasive
mental health complications to the victim and their family. There is increasing documentation that a
child and adolescent victims of sexual abuse and their non offending parents and siblings are in need
of mental health services (Putnam, 2003). Majority of sexual abuse occurs during childhood; however,
incest is the most common form of sexual abuse. The counselor must understand that child sexual
abuse goes beyond touching and must be aware there is many forms of sexual abuse to a child. The
perpetrator can exploit a child by assaulting them through the internet, introducing a child to
pornography, or convince the child to take inappropriate pictures. The severity of the sexual act may
cause more serious impact, several other factors may influence the degree of damage to the survivor s
experiences. Factors may include the perspective of the individual, the individual s internal resources,
and the individual s level of support (Ratican, 1992). After the abuse has occurred the families face
multiple challenges like change of residence, loss of income, loss of caregiver and no support from the
community. Once those challenges arise these challenges can be accompanied

Residential Schools And The Effect On The Development Of...
This paper is focusing on Residential Schools and the effect they had on the development of the
individuals who attended the schools. The thought behind the Residential Schools was that,
Residential schools were the institutions, in operation from the 19th century to the late 20th century,
which Indigenous children in Canada were forced to attend (Ross, Dion, Cantinotti, Collin VĆ©zina,
Paquette, 2015, p. 184). Residential Schools have caused intergenerational hardship and trauma to
Indigenous People s that has affected their well being and development. Being First Nations myself
and having family members who suffered the Residential Schools, I have seen the effects on our
people. Residential Schools had negative impacts on the individuals who attended these schools by
removing them from their communities and placing the children in these schools, the effects of the
Residential Schools still impact some of the survivors to this day. It needs to be remembered that
these, children did not choose to attend these schools, they were forced into attending. Those who are
different tend to stand out. As Ranzjin (2010) explained ... exclusion occur[s] when people are
systematically excluded from meaningful participation in... social, political, cultural and other forms

Although every investigation case is unique, the investigation process is similar for most cases and
usually consists of four stages: Goal Setting, Planning, Investigation and Evaluation. The investigation
process starts with goal setting. Goal Setting sets the expectation and identifies the complainant s
goals as well as obtainable results and acceptable outcomes. The effectiveness of every fraud
investigator, in pursuing either criminal or civil fraud investigations, is ultimately judged by how
closely and consistently she reaches or exceeds her investigative goals.
Once the goals and expectation have been clearly defined, then an investigative plan is developed.
Financial fraud investigations usually involves large amounts of data and information, an investigative

Benefits Of Genetically Engineered Food
The alteration of plant and animal genetic codes for the ultimate purpose of increasing food abundance
is an increasingly popular, yet controversial practice in the 21st century. Genetic engineering of food is
done for a number of reasons, the biggest of which is increasing food supplies in the world, especially
for the third world countries. However, there are arguments and even activist movements against
genetic engineering of food, which begs the question why is genetically engineered food so
controversial? The pro and con arguments of the genetic engineering of food cannot be overlooked.
Although it is a controversial practice, genetically engineered food is more useful than harmful to
people and the planet.
The Benefits of Genetically Engineered Food
Food security is one of the biggest concerns in the world today given the rate at which climate change
is crippling the planet s natural ability to sustain humanity. Forman and Silverstein (2012) note that
should the current rate of global warming and climate change persist for the next ten years, the planet
not just the developing world will officially be in a food crisis. This information can be backed by the
fact that the world is already struggling to stay fed (Qaim Kouser, 2013). Genetic engineering of food,
therefore, is a relevant topic as it is a means through which hunger and famine can be avoided
permanently. It is only through genetic engineering that droughts, pests, weed resistant crops, and pest

American Imperialism In Cambodia
The Cambodia of the late 19th and 20th century was a far cry from the once great Khmer Empire
famous for its engagement in ambitious state projects such as the building of Angkor Wat. In 1884,
France integrated Cambodia into its Indochinese colony. France lost its grip on Cambodia in 1941 to
Japanese invasion during World War II but attempted to gain it back at the war s end. At the
conclusion 1954 Geneva Accords that concluded the eight year long First Indochina War, Cambodia
gained its independence. During the conflict, Cambodian elites such as Saloth Sar (Pol Pot) were

The agrarian reorganization of society was the main concept taken directly from Mao s Great Leap
Forward. Pol Pot hoped to overcome Cambodia s lack of materials and technology through
exploitation of the population s labor potential on collectivized farms. This program also tied in an
extreme level of xenophobia, as Pol Pot saw Cambodia s cities as exhibition centers for unholy
western ideals of capitalist commerce and industry, and education. In its exile of Cambodians from
cities, the Khmer Rouge killed all intellectuals and civil servants of the former western aligned
regime, as the Party saw them as people likely to have absorbed western ideas, and therefore, as
threats to the Communist society. People were forced onto to collectivized farms on the countryside
with the intention of creating a self sufficient one class state society of peasants, which in turn would
free Cambodia from international interference. However, in practice, those already living in the
countryside at the onset of this program, the so called base people, enjoyed a higher societal ranking
as the Khmer Rouge viewed them as model citizens for the new order. Loung Ung describes this class

The Black Of Black Crimes
Black crimes in America are caused solely by the actions of black people. The previous statement is
said throughout both rural and urban American, and it is based off of uneducated and racist ideologies.
The criminal actions of blacks are partly contributed to their own decision making, though the same
holds true for criminals of all races. However, black people in America have the longest lasting and
most destructive history of racism towards them in modern American history, and this has led them to
be the most poverty stricken race in America. Black people in America are the most poverty stricken
race by percentage, with 27.2 percent of the racial population in 2012 and 2013 (U.S. Census).
However, in order to discuss why nearly one third of blacks are in poverty, then the history of racism
towards blacks must be discussed. Additionally, how racist actions of oppression has placed many
blacks in a degrading, and devaluing situation that continually promotes poverty and crime shall be
discussed too (Grabbidon and Grenne, 177). From 1641 up until 1865 Africans were captured by
slavers and sold into slavery on Southern American plantations. British colonials viewed them as no
more than personal property, as the Africans were not under British rule and were not protected under
British law (History). Thus, during this time period blacks in slavery did not hold any rights at all

The Problem Of The Subprime Crisis
Currently, we are recovering from one of the worst recessions the United States and the world
economies have ever seen. Known as The Great Recession, the period of falling employment,
spending, saving and rising interest rates, officially lasted from December 2007 June of 2009.
However, the effects were felt severely numerous years after, and are still being resolved and learned
from today. Normally, the housing sector of the United States market leads the economy out of a
recession, being one of the few forms of spending almost exclusively domestic. Also, housing leads to
a spur of other jobs including raw material distribution, construction, contracting, and real estate. The
subprime mortgage crisis is argued to be the cause of the Great Recession and one of the main
inhibitors of finding a solution quickly. What caused the subprime crisis, and why was it so
detrimental even on a world scale? There are many hypotheses, some are proven through economic
law and some are ideas based off of human nature. The Subprime Crisis is known as the fall of the
housing market resulting in a record number of foreclosures and families declaring bankruptcy. This
was a direct result of banks being able to produce money too quickly. Due to an influx of loans and
high interest rates, banks were able to create enough money for mortgage loans for people with weak
credit, a subprime mortgage. If interest rates remained at the current price and the value of the housing
market remained high,

The Industrial Revolution And The Evolution Of The...
Katie Rose Knoblock Professor Taylor AMH 2010 O1M 6 November 2017 Evolution of the Industrial
Revolution Many factories did this by targeting women and children as they could be paid less than
men with no repercussions. The workers that were hired to these positions, especially women, were
subject to some very harsh work conditions. They were subject to terrible work environments
including buildings called sweatshops, which were poorly lit and ventilated for maximum
productivity. They were forced to work in dangerous conditions where a person could easily be
maimed or even killed if they mishandled the equipment they used for their work. It was not unheard
of for the workers to be expected to work as much as 16 hours a day under threats of being fired or
even physically abused if they did not complete their work with great speed. Even after all their effort
in the workplace, it was not uncommon for a person to be paid as little as a single dollar for their day s
efforts. These poor working conditions gave rise to labor unions in the 19th century to insure proper
working conditions for all laborers. The labor unions aided in workplace safety and fairness by using a
large group of people to sway greedy business owners in the right direction. The major advancement
in the factory system occurred in the early 20th century with what was called the assembly line. The
assembly line enabled a product being assembled to pass on a mechanized conveyor from one

The Importance Of The Media Influence Public Debate
The first thing one must prove is that the media is an effective vehicle to influence public discussion
in a democracy. This is key before examining the motives behind any bias that exists. The reach that
different mediums have is the main thing that shows how media can influence public discussion. For
example, according to the Pew Research Center, in the United States, 93% of adults get their news
from digital sources.1 This includes online only news outlets along with the digital arms of traditional
news outlets. The ease of accessing media outlets is unprecedented when one compares it to previous
generations. With the number of people with smartphones growing exponentially in recent years,
people are having an easier and easier time to access the news right at their fingertips. It s not just
digital sources that are seeing an increase. News watching on TV s has also grown over previous
years. Neilson Media Research has found that news consumption through television has grown by
45% in 2016 compared to the year before. This also far surpassed previous presidential election
years.2 This prevalence of news in the daily lives of citizens is the main reason why media can
influence public discussion. Since there are so many people viewing so many different sources, that
fall across the political spectrum, there will many different points of view. This difference in
perspective will lead to people discussing their differences of opinion, hence encouraging healthy

Airlines might cut down on services to Las Vegas and other vacation destinations if the economy
doesn t recover quickly. This would hurt tourism and revenues on the Las Vegas Strip. With less
people traveling it becomes more expensive for airlines to fly back an forth to destinations. 7.
Government Intervention
Government intervention could put downside pressure on the stock. Possible government intervention
increases risk, because the government is a big customer and has a history of making adverse changes
to the operating ability of companies in every industry. A government regulated industry increases
political risk, because government actions may not be in the best interest of citizen of that particular
country. Governments are usually inefficient with spending money.
Regulations are meant to protect the environmental and consumers. They take the form of permits,

Essay about Child Development, Nature vs Nurture
.
The nature versus nurture debate is one of the oldest issues in psychology. The debate centers on the
relative contributions ofgenetic inheritance and environmental factors to human development. Some
philosophers such as Plato and Descartes suggested that certain things are inborn, or that they simply
occur naturally regardless of environmental influences. Other well known thinkers such as John Locke
believed in what is known as tabula rasa, which suggests that the mind begins as a blank slate.

Babies begin to take in sensory experiences from the world around them from the moment of birth,
and the environment will continue to exert a powerful influence on behavior throughout life.
Geneticscan have a powerful influence on development, but experiences are equally important. For
example, while the genetic code contains the information on how a child s brain may be pre wired, it
is learning and experience that will literally shape how that child s brain grows and develops.
Final ThoughtsClearly, genetics have an enormous influence on how a child develops. However, it is
important to remember that genetics are just one piece of the intricate puzzle that makes up a child s
life. Environmental variables, including parenting, culture, education and social relationships also play
a vital role.
Nature versus Nurture is a popular debate about whether our genetics, or environmental influences

The Social Darwinism Of The World War I
American Social Darwinism
For their point of view does not permit of a live and let live kind of carrying on. It is a point of view
that justifies itself by a whole hearted acceptance of the worst of Neo Darwinism, the Allmacht of
natural selection applied rigorously to human life and society and Kultur (p.22, Headquarters Nights
by Vernon Kellogg).
In the years following World War I, the Social Darwinist movement lost some of its momentum due to
the unpopularity of Germany s Neo Darwinism. Support for an individualistic and nationalistic based
Social Darwinism died and was replaced by the state enforced Social Darwinism of eugenics. Despite
the widespread Christian attack on Darwinian tenets, Christians did not fight the eugenics movement
in an effective way. Eventually, even legislatures controlled by Christians fell to the false promises of
eugenics. Despite poignant criticism of eugenics among scientists in the United States, more than
30,000 individuals were forcibly sterilized. In an ironic twist of fate, the Nazis Party s adoption of
American Eugenics programs led to the virtual extinction of Social Darwinism in the United States.
Social Darwinism stems from a misapplication of Darwin s theory of evolution. In 1859 Charles
Darwin published On The Origin of Species, which describes the mechanism for changes in the traits
of a population over time. This mechanism, called natural selection, favors the survival, and hence the
reproduction, of those

The Zika Virus When people think of the word epidemic , they generally imagine a widespread

As of now, there is no official vaccine for Zika. Instead, a patient that has the contagion must undergo
certain treatments. Fortunately, the remedies for the virus are simple and cheap. If infection occurs, it
is vital to get an abundance of rest and liquids; medication is also advised to assist in alleviating pain.
The treatments for Zika are straightforward because the disease itself is rather mild. In fact, in most
reported cases of the virus in the United States, the illness only lasted approximately two to seven
days prior to the first set of symptoms ( World Health Organization ). It is evident that the fear
associated with the Zika Virus is slightly exaggerated. Currently, there is only one recorded fatality in
the United States that is directly related to Zika ( The Washington Post ). This is mainly because first
world countries medical programs are advanced enough to effectively treat the virus. The standard of

Battle Of The Marne Essay
The First Battle of the Marne was one of the most significant battle in the first stages if the emerging
war to later be known as the Great War . It was conducted by the Allied French and British forces
against the German advance emerging from Belgium. The Germans had major successes in previous
battles against the French in France s north east until finally being slowed to a halt at the Marne River.
New tactics and techniques were utilized at this time in order to gain any upper hand against the
opposing forces; tactics such as radio signal interception and aerial reconnaissance. This battle also
forced the German into fortifying themselves into series of elaborate trenched in order to maintain the
front, which became typical of the western front until the end of the war.
On 6 September 1914, the First Battle of the Marne was an offensive conducted by the French army
and the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) against advancing Germans who had, at this time, already
invaded Belgium and northeastern France. Allied forces were becoming desperate by this time

Rhetorical Analysis Of The American Crisis By Thomas Paine
In the cold winter months of 1776, a group of colonial soldiers experience the perils of the
Revolutionary War. They had lost New York City to British troops in August, and 11,000 American
volunteers had given up the fight to return home to their families between September and December.
Morale is low, and the service contracts of George Washington s troops are about to expire on
December 31 (history.com, par. 1). Thomas Paine s pamphlet, The American Crisis, puts some fuel
back in the fight. Paine s use of rhetorical devices helps him achieve his purpose of encouraging
laymen to join the fight and soldiers to continue the fight against Great Britain.
During a time of remorse among the colonial people, Thomas Paine uses connotative language ...

Joey, I suggest Max Charles, a 13 year old young man who has been featured in everything from
Spiderman to The Three Stooges. He has the looks, and the talent along with who we have selected to
play Emily. Bella Thorne is a tall, 19 year old woman with red hair and fair skin, she has starred in the
hit show, Shake It Off and comedy, Blended. For Janey we believe that 12 year old Mackenzie Zeigler
would be the perfect choice with her brown hair and dimples, and her experience being featured on
Nicky Ricky Dicky and Dawn along with a full time star on dance moms. Lastly, for Lonnie, we have
chosen Robert Downey Jr. a 51 year old man with a small beard, but a big personality and role on Iron
man. Ben affleck and Kate Beckinsale would play as the parents of Josh, both over the age of 40, they
are very experienced actors and have starred in some of the most popular movies. This we strongly

The Roles Of Language And Harish Trivedi s Communication...
Communication through language performs a pivotal role in a human life as it sustains it and therefore
essential. Of course, various means of communication like gestures and others can never replace the

Partly because of the oral traditions and partly due to the destructions of innumerable texts because of
weather conditions, several problems arise when the earlier history of translation is attempted. The
history of translation in India has, according to Ritā Kothāri, three stages: oral, written and printed
with no mechanism for tracing the oral tradition of translation . Further, she adds that The written
tradition. . . is rooted in medieval India, around the fourteenth and fifteen centuries, when excerpts
from the Sanskrit scriptures began to travel into the regional languages (Kothāri 2003: 6 7). However,
it is believed that, as Krishnamurthy notes, the first requirement for inter language communication in
the subcontinent probably arose through trade (Krishnamurthy 1998: 464). Kautilya, known as
Chānakya (c. 370 283 BC), a minister to Chandragupta Maurya (c. 340 298 BC), in the 4th century
BC wrote a treatise on statecraft indicating the status that the translator might have had during this
period without the use of a word translator but scribes (Ibid: 465). Thus, this activity of translation as
a discourse offers India more opportunities due to its multilingual status, whereas the possibility of
translation in the West is less due to its monolingual status. Thus, it is noticeable that multilingualism
offers benefits to the practice of translation simultaneously

Aristophanes View Of Love
Our human nature was not what we always thought of it to be, in simpler times two were made as one.
We roamed the earth in unity with our other halves without the burden of trying to find them.
However, Zeus did not find this to be in his best interest because of how we behaved so he split each
being in two. As a result of this split we must now go about our lives in search of our other half. This
is the speech that Aristophanes gave in Plato s Symposium a book composed of various speeches from
many different famous Greek people. Aristophanes view of love is compelling because it describes our
very human nature to find our love, it justifies the reasoning of why there are different sexualities, and
it gives an explanation as to why our bodies are the way that they are today. The main idea of
Aristophanes speech is that humans were not the way that they are today mentally, physically or
emotionally. Each of us, then, is a matching half of a human whole, because each was sliced like a
flatfish, two out of one, and each of us is always seeking the half that matches him (p.27, 191E). What
is most compelling about this is that here Aristophanes explains the yearning that people have for love
in their lives. Due to this split many may feel as if a piece of them is missing and they may only find it
once they find that person who they were once in union with. As stated previously this is where
Aristophanes puts into perspective the notion that everyone truly has their other

After Dagny s resignation from Taggart Transcontinental, James randomly without any consideration

Charles Morrison to travel on a diesel engine train to an important business meeting. The president of
Taggart Transcontinental, James, did not inquire in any means about this schedule, and was abruptly
awoken in the middle of the night by Dr. Morrison himself through an angry telegram. James was
highly intimidated by Morrison s words and called Locey to tell him to fix the situation immediately
as well as to tell Locey that he was never called in the night when Dagny was in control. These words
from James support, once again, the concept that he relies on more competent individuals of society,
and how he does not take responsibility when it is necessary. The words that James said to Locey also
imply that the success of Taggart Transcontinental was completely due to Dagny, and how she ran the
company. This point is magnified in the following actions taken by James once he finds out that the
Taggart Tunnel has collapsed, as well as the explosion between the diesel engine train and the Army
Munitions killed everyone on board. James immediately contacts Dagny though her assistant Eddie,
and then he destroys Dagny s resignation letter once she arrives at Taggart Transcontinental. James
actions are seen as highly manipulative, as well as irresponsible. James ignored the extreme situations
that were occurring at the company and used it to entice Dagny to return to Taggart Transcontinental.

which implied his evasion of his obligations, and his destructive and selfish

Sophocles Oedipus Play ( B )
Oedipus play (c. 430 B.C.) by Sophocles pictures an Ancient Greek tragedy in which the main
character usually dies and there is intervention towards the main character s destiny; or the main
character is presented as a good person in the play, but oracles caused them to do bad things. A classic
Greek play such as Oedipus can be perceived not only as an art in literary work but also as an analysis
of Foucault s theory of power and power relations between the king and the seer of the kingdom.
Phillip and Huntley (1995) elaborates that character is a person, animal, initiate object on group
representing a unique approach to dealing with the story s problem. Meanwhile, Klarer (1999)
declared that character is the most important part such as a figure and a personality who plays role in a
literary work particularly novel, short story and play. In Sophocles Oedipus Rex, there are Oedipus,
Creon, Teiresias, Iocaste, Priest, Messenger, Shepherd of Laios, Second Messenger, and Chorus of
Theban Elders as the characters. The character that plays the most important part in the story is called
main character while the other characters that interact and communicate with the main character are
called minor characters. Thus, this essay will employ only two characters which are the king or so
called Oedipus as the main character and the seer who is named Teiresias as the minor character.

The Importance Of Voter Participation In Canada
Elections are the most vital mechanism for a democracy since it is the role of the citizens to elect the
representatives of their government. As one of the most established democracies, Canada had been
experiencing decreasing participation in its elections. In 2008, voter turnout in Canada hit its lowest
point at an average of 58.8%, keeping in mind that the average voter turnout in Canada has been
70.7% (Canada, 2017). Even though there may not be one coherent explanation, there are a few
predictors that could justify the decline in Canada s voter turnout. Firstly, political interest is essential
in motivating citizens to participate in politics, and the least informed citizens are the less motivated
they are to participate. Secondly, personal barriers such as age, gender, race, language and socio
economic status play a major role as a determinant for the participation in elections. Finally, Canada s
current electoral process the system in which citizens use to cast their votes is a factor that may deter
participants from voting because of its cited weaknesses. For instance, the current system has brought
into question its lack of democracy and representation. Therefore, while participation in federal
elections is essential to a functioning democracy, there has been a decline in voter turnout due to lack
of political interest, personal barriers, and the electoral process.
Political interest is a highly important motivator for the participation in federal elections.

values include maximum torque, maximum mechanical power, maximum power factor, maximum
efficiency, and maximum electric power. It will be shown that the torque and mechanical power
extrema can be expressed in analytical forms while the power factor, efficiency and electric power
extrema need to be solved numerically. It will then be shown that these extrema can also be
determined graphically using the circle diagram method. The circle diagram method is an old method
but can still be found in some textbooks (e.g., [3] [4]). The research into graphical methods for
induction motor analysis is still active (e.g., [5][11]). One may consider that the circle diagram method
is limited to qualitative evaluation because it cannot give accurate results. In fact, if the circle diagram
method is carried out by a modern computer drawing tool that allows the user to draw geometric
diagrams with parameters (i.e., coordinates, lengths, angles, etc.) to the accuracy of four decimal
places, then the circle diagram method is able to give all the aforementioned performance extrema
with required accuracy. Unlike the circle diagram method used in [10] and [11] that is based on the
approximate equivalent circuit of induction machine and is limited to motoring mode of operation, the
circle diagram method used in this paper is based on

How Did The Meiji Restoration Improve The Government Of...
The top to bottom Japanese revolution known as the Meiji Restoration occurred in 1868 and it
completely changed the system of government of Japan, which had been under the strict control of the

also kept Japan, for the most part, isolated from the rest of the world believing that they had no need

The Principle Of Separation Of Powers
The method of separation of powers was a very important addition to the constitution for the founders
of the document. After years of struggling under Great Britain s regime then finally getting freed, they
wanted to make sure they avoided every way of a totalitarian government arising. Thus forth, the
founders developed the idea of separation of powers. However, this was the 18th century. Although
the creators of the constitution did a great job at developing a long lasting agreement between
government and citizens, there was no way for them to be 100% aware of the future consequences
with would have in the 21st century. Britain s totalitarian rule over the colonies was one of the main
reasons for the idea of separation of powers. The king of Great Britain was a very harsh ruler. Two of
the biggest problems was that, he imposed outrageous taxes on the colonist and they also had close to
no rights. He could do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted to. To avoid this after the colonies
declared themselves free, they split up the government in a way that one branch cannot become too
powerful and take over all of the country. The three branches that were created were the; legislative

House of Representatives. They are in charge of passing federal laws, approving treaties and

In modern times, a couple usually does not plan to get married less than a week after meeting. Yet in
the small Italian town of Messina in William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing, the young
Claudio and Hero plan to get married as soon as possible. That is, until Claudio is fed false
information that Hero is not a virgin and slanders her at the altar. During the Elizabethan era when this
play was written, most female roles and women in general were treated without respect as Hero was
and were only prized on their physical characteristics. Much Ado About Nothing was an important
play in the Elizabethan era because it dealt with social class boundaries and the roles of women.

Elizabethan women were being taught that they were practically property of men. They could be
forced into arranged marriages in order to create bonds between families and were taught to be
dependent on their male relatives (Alchin). Social class and one s status in society could also coincide
with how they were treated on an everyday basis (Alchin). With these many events that would change
the world forever came changes in the theater that would change it forever, too. James Burbage, a
prominent Elizabethan actor, built the first Elizabethan playhouse and called it the Theatre (Yancey
25). The Theatre, built in 1576, would go on to set a precedent in the design of all playhouses of the
era (Senn). The building was probably round or octagonal and had no ceiling so as to let in natural
light since no efficient artificial lighting had been invented at this point in time (Yancey 25). Because
of the need for natural light during plays, most performances took place during the afternoon (Yancey
29). On the inside of the Theatre, the stage extended to be a raised rectangle that took up about half of
the ground floor (Yancey 30). Above it was a balcony on which acting could occur, such as the
balcony scene from Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet (Yancey 31). Finally, past the back end of the
stage was a concealed room called the Tiring House that served as storage for props and a dressing
room for any actors during a performance (Senn).

  • 2. Using Trademe As My Case I have chosen to use TradeMe as my case. TradeMe is an online website that connects sellers to buyers and also buyers to sellers. TradeMe is the middle man or connection between both parties. The selling of goods or services works through an auction system instead of the classic, one price and that is it. This system benefits both buyers and sellers, the buyer can get products for cheap and sellers could also get a lot more than anticipated from their goods or services. TradeMe is a New Zealand based website and has quickly became a very popular site, having over 3.9 million active users, and 7.7 thousand people visiting the site every day (TradeMe, April 2016). New New media is communication channels that have been created recently. These channels interact with the user and give the user the ability to talk and communicate between other users in real time. Social networking is a prime example of new new media, blogs, Twitter or even YouTube all fall into the category of new new media, were as emails would fall into new media due to their introduction times and limiting factors. New new media summed up is users interacting with other users on a massive scale. Let us single out YouTube as an example, YouTube gives users with massive interaction through: likes, dislikes, shares, favourites or even reports. The content creators can get feedback in many different forms on their creations, the biggest feedback tool being the comments section, were users can share their ideas, ... • 3. Informational Constraints 1. Chapter eight describes three broader goals of one s audience in addition to those discussed earlier in the textbook. One of these is security. Another is professional growth. As the textbook notes, people want to develop and grow on the job...they want to learn more skills and assume new duties...and they want to work for an organization that is developing and growing (Markel, 2012). 2. Constraints within technical writing are things such as the amount of information that can be gathered for a paper, the required length and format, the due date, etc. (Markel, 2012), that impact the writing process. These often help a writer compose a document however they also can be a hindrance as well. An example of an informational constraint ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A commonsense argument is one that appeals to a person s understanding and experience of how the world works. The textbook notes, if your audience s commonsense arguments match yours, your argument is likely to be persuasive. Often, people can act in mysterious ways, and this is an effective way to present an argument. Like the University of Maryland s University College notes on their website, Clear thinking requires that you state your claim and support it with concrete, specific facts. This approach appeals to our common sense... ( Writing Arguments, 2011). 7. One type of argument is one that argues against the writer themselves, instead of against the writer s argument. This is known as a ad hominem argument, or an argument against the speaker (Markel, 2012) according to the textbook. Ad hominem arguments are useful in convincing someone to do something or of a side of something because of a characteristic they possess. These arguments are logical fallacies that are colloquially known as mistakes in reasoning ( What is..., n.d.) that are often not mistakes that can help writers and speakers win persuasive ... What makes the smartphones so smart is the OS, in other words, the operation system. The OS is the basic and soul of a smartphone, which means if the phone is the body, then the OS is the neural network and intellectual system to control the body. Among diverse operation systems, Apple s IOS and Android OS are the most outstanding, they have occupied about 96 percent of the whole global smartphone market together. They are both widely used and liked by individuals but they also have own advantages and disadvantages. The first difference is in Customizability. Accessing and completing control over the devices is available the bootloader can also be unlocked by Android users while that is not available for IOS users. Users of IOS are highly limited to customize it unless jailbreak, but after jailbreak, the Apple Company will be no longer and no need to keep its promise on the products because jailbreak is banned by the official. The OS of Android is totally different, users can change almost everything if they want to. This difference comes from the different source model, which is closed, with open source component in IOS and open in Android. The iOS kernel is not an open source but is based on the open source Darwin OS while the Kernel, UI, and some standard apps of Android are all open source. As a result, Android can be more ... Genetic engineering of food is done for a number of reasons, the biggest of which is increasing food supplies in the world, especially for the third world countries. However, there are arguments and even activist movements against genetic engineering of food, which begs the question why is genetically engineered food so controversial? The pro and con arguments of the genetic engineering of food cannot be overlooked. The Benefits of Genetically Engineered Food Food security is one of the biggest concerns in the world today given the rate at which climate change is crippling the planet s natural ability to sustain humanity. The previous statement is said throughout both rural and urban American, and it is based off of uneducated and racist ideologies. However, black people in America have the longest lasting and most destructive history of racism towards them in modern American history, and this has led them to be the most poverty stricken race in America. Black people in America are the most poverty stricken race by percentage, with 27.2 percent of the racial population in 2012 and 2013 (U.S. Census). • 17. The Problem Of The Subprime Crisis Currently, we are recovering from one of the worst recessions the United States and the world economies have ever seen. Known as The Great Recession, the period of falling employment, spending, saving and rising interest rates, officially lasted from December 2007 June of 2009. However, the effects were felt severely numerous years after, and are still being resolved and learned from today. Normally, the housing sector of the United States market leads the economy out of a recession, being one of the few forms of spending almost exclusively domestic. Also, housing leads to a spur of other jobs including raw material distribution, construction, contracting, and real estate. The subprime mortgage crisis is argued to be the cause of the Great Recession and one of the main inhibitors of finding a solution quickly. What caused the subprime crisis, and why was it so detrimental even on a world scale? There are many hypotheses, some are proven through economic law and some are ideas based off of human nature. The Subprime Crisis is known as the fall of the housing market resulting in a record number of foreclosures and families declaring bankruptcy. This was a direct result of banks being able to produce money too quickly. Due to an influx of loans and high interest rates, banks were able to create enough money for mortgage loans for people with weak credit, a subprime mortgage. Katie Rose Knoblock Professor Taylor AMH 2010 O1M 6 November 2017 Evolution of the Industrial Revolution Many factories did this by targeting women and children as they could be paid less than men with no repercussions. The workers that were hired to these positions, especially women, were subject to some very harsh work conditions. They were subject to terrible work environments including buildings called sweatshops, which were poorly lit and ventilated for maximum productivity. They were forced to work in dangerous conditions where a person could easily be maimed or even killed if they mishandled the equipment they used for their work. It was not unheard of for the workers to be expected to work as much as 16 hours a day under threats of being fired or even physically abused if they did not complete their work with great speed. Even after all their effort in the workplace, it was not uncommon for a person to be paid as little as a single dollar for their day s efforts. These poor working conditions gave rise to labor unions in the 19th century to insure proper working conditions for all laborers. The labor unions aided in workplace safety and fairness by using a large group of people to sway greedy business owners in the right direction. This is key before examining the motives behind any bias that exists. The reach that different mediums have is the main thing that shows how media can influence public discussion. For example, according to the Pew Research Center, in the United States, 93% of adults get their news from digital sources.1 This includes online only news outlets along with the digital arms of traditional news outlets. In the years following World War I, the Social Darwinist movement lost some of its momentum due to the unpopularity of Germany s Neo Darwinism. Support for an individualistic and nationalistic based Social Darwinism died and was replaced by the state enforced Social Darwinism of eugenics. Despite the widespread Christian attack on Darwinian tenets, Christians did not fight the eugenics movement in an effective way. While most of the hysteria associated with pandemics stem purely from fiction, it can be understandable why people always fear the worst. That is why when an outbreak of the Zika Virus was reported in the United States, an overall feeling of malaise set in. As of September 21, 2016, a total of 3,358 cases of the Zika Virus have been reported ( Center for Disease Control and Prevention ). Instead, a patient that has the contagion must undergo certain treatments. Fortunately, the remedies for the virus are simple and cheap. If infection occurs, it is vital to get an abundance of rest and liquids; medication is also advised to assist in alleviating pain. The treatments for Zika are straightforward because the disease itself is rather mild. In fact, in most reported cases of the virus in the United States, the illness only lasted approximately two to seven days prior to the first set of symptoms ( World Health Organization ). It is evident that the fear associated with the Zika Virus is slightly exaggerated. Currently, there is only one recorded fatality in the United States that is directly related to Zika ( The Washington Post ). This is mainly because first world countries medical programs are advanced enough to effectively treat the virus. The standard of living in these countries are also higher compared to third world countries. It was conducted by the Allied French and British forces against the German advance emerging from Belgium. The Germans had major successes in previous battles against the French in France s north east until finally being slowed to a halt at the Marne River. New tactics and techniques were utilized at this time in order to gain any upper hand against the opposing forces; tactics such as radio signal interception and aerial reconnaissance. This battle also forced the German into fortifying themselves into series of elaborate trenched in order to maintain the front, which became typical of the western front until the end of the war. • 30. Rhetorical Analysis Of The American Crisis By Thomas Paine In the cold winter months of 1776, a group of colonial soldiers experience the perils of the Revolutionary War. They had lost New York City to British troops in August, and 11,000 American volunteers had given up the fight to return home to their families between September and December. Morale is low, and the service contracts of George Washington s troops are about to expire on December 31 (history.com, par. 1). Thomas Paine s pamphlet, The American Crisis, puts some fuel back in the fight. Of course, various means of communication like gestures and others can never replace the use of a language in a human life. A human being is a God s creation, but a language is a human creation. The same information in one language can be communicated differently through different languages depending on culture, region, religion, politics and above all the society of the speaker of a particular language. Partly because of the oral traditions and partly due to the destructions of innumerable texts because of weather conditions, several problems arise when the earlier history of translation is attempted. The history of translation in India has, according to Ritā Kothāri, three stages: oral, written and printed with no mechanism for tracing the oral tradition of translation . Further, she adds that The written tradition. . . is rooted in medieval India, around the fourteenth and fifteen centuries, when excerpts from the Sanskrit scriptures began to travel into the regional languages (Kothāri 2003: 6 7). However, it is believed that, as Krishnamurthy notes, the first requirement for inter language communication in the subcontinent probably arose through trade (Krishnamurthy 1998: 464). Kautilya, known as Chānakya (c. 370 283 BC), a minister to Chandragupta Maurya (c. 340 298 BC), in the 4th century BC wrote a treatise on statecraft indicating the status that the translator might have had during this period without the use of a word translator but scribes (Ibid: 465). Thus, this activity of translation as a discourse offers India more opportunities due to its multilingual status, whereas the possibility of translation in the West is less due to its monolingual status. • 33. Aristophanes View Of Love Our human nature was not what we always thought of it to be, in simpler times two were made as one. We roamed the earth in unity with our other halves without the burden of trying to find them. However, Zeus did not find this to be in his best interest because of how we behaved so he split each being in two. As a result of this split we must now go about our lives in search of our other half. This is the speech that Aristophanes gave in Plato s Symposium a book composed of various speeches from many different famous Greek people. Aristophanes view of love is compelling because it describes our very human nature to find our love, it justifies the reasoning of why there are different sexualities, and it gives an explanation as to why our bodies are the way that they are today. The main idea of Aristophanes speech is that humans were not the way that they are today mentally, physically or emotionally. Each of us, then, is a matching half of a human whole, because each was sliced like a flatfish, two out of one, and each of us is always seeking the half that matches him (p.27, 191E). What is most compelling about this is that here Aristophanes explains the yearning that people have for love in their lives. Due to this split many may feel as if a piece of them is missing and they may only find it once they find that person who they were once in union with. As stated previously this is where Aristophanes puts into perspective the notion that everyone truly has their other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The president of Taggart Transcontinental, James, did not inquire in any means about this schedule, and was abruptly awoken in the middle of the night by Dr. Morrison himself through an angry telegram. James was highly intimidated by Morrison s words and called Locey to tell him to fix the situation immediately as well as to tell Locey that he was never called in the night when Dagny was in control. These words from James support, once again, the concept that he relies on more competent individuals of society, and how he does not take responsibility when it is necessary. The words that James said to Locey also imply that the success of Taggart Transcontinental was completely due to Dagny, and how she ran the company. This point is magnified in the following actions taken by James once he finds out that the Taggart Tunnel has collapsed, as well as the explosion between the diesel engine train and the Army Munitions killed everyone on board. James immediately contacts Dagny though her assistant Eddie, and then he destroys Dagny s resignation letter once she arrives at Taggart Transcontinental. James actions are seen as highly manipulative, as well as irresponsible. A classic Greek play such as Oedipus can be perceived not only as an art in literary work but also as an analysis of Foucault s theory of power and power relations between the king and the seer of the kingdom. Phillip and Huntley (1995) elaborates that character is a person, animal, initiate object on group representing a unique approach to dealing with the story s problem. Meanwhile, Klarer (1999) declared that character is the most important part such as a figure and a personality who plays role in a literary work particularly novel, short story and play. • 39. The Importance Of Voter Participation In Canada Elections are the most vital mechanism for a democracy since it is the role of the citizens to elect the representatives of their government. As one of the most established democracies, Canada had been experiencing decreasing participation in its elections. In 2008, voter turnout in Canada hit its lowest point at an average of 58.8%, keeping in mind that the average voter turnout in Canada has been 70.7% (Canada, 2017). Even though there may not be one coherent explanation, there are a few predictors that could justify the decline in Canada s voter turnout. Firstly, political interest is essential in motivating citizens to participate in politics, and the least informed citizens are the less motivated they are to participate. Secondly, personal barriers such as age, gender, race, language and socio economic status play a major role as a determinant for the participation in elections. Finally, Canada s current electoral process the system in which citizens use to cast their votes is a factor that may deter participants from voting because of its cited weaknesses. For instance, the current system has brought into question its lack of democracy and representation. Therefore, while participation in federal elections is essential to a functioning democracy, there has been a decline in voter turnout due to lack of political interest, personal barriers, and the electoral process. Political interest is a highly important motivator for the participation in federal elections. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It will then be shown that these extrema can also be determined graphically using the circle diagram method. The circle diagram method is an old method but can still be found in some textbooks (e.g., [3] [4]). The research into graphical methods for induction motor analysis is still active (e.g., [5][11]). Although the creators of the constitution did a great job at developing a long lasting agreement between government and citizens, there was no way for them to be 100% aware of the future consequences with would have in the 21st century. Britain s totalitarian rule over the colonies was one of the main reasons for the idea of separation of powers. The king of Great Britain was a very harsh ruler. Two of the biggest problems was that, he imposed outrageous taxes on the colonist and they also had close to no rights. He could do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted to. To avoid this after the colonies declared themselves free, they split up the government in a way that one branch cannot become too powerful and take over all of the country. With these many events that would change the world forever came changes in the theater that would change it forever, too. James Burbage, a prominent Elizabethan actor, built the first Elizabethan playhouse and called it the Theatre (Yancey 25). The Theatre, built in 1576, would go on to set a precedent in the design of all playhouses of the era (Senn). The building was probably round or octagonal and had no ceiling so as to let in natural light since no efficient artificial lighting had been invented at this point in time (Yancey 25).
