The Australian Textile, Clothing And Footwear Essay
The Australian Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) industry operates in a global environment and
the role of transportation management is an important component that must be explored. Therefore,
this report will set out to analyse its function within the TCF framework and in particular its
pertinence to Billabong International, one of the industry s largest companies. An overview of the TCF
industry and Billabongs role within it, will need to be given, to explain the context in which the
transport function operates. Secondly, it is important to identify the optimal transport modes and
clarify reasoning behind those choices with comparison to industry best practice. Importantly,
technological advantages in Billabongs transport partners and the benefits to its entire supply chain are
to be explored. It is also important to analyse risks and challenges involved in choosing transport
modes and finally conclusions will be made on the findings of this report. Additionally, any alterations
required to assist the future transport choices of Billabong will be recommended. 2. The Textile,
clothing and footwear supply chain in Australia: The Australian Textile, Clothing and Footwear
industry is a diverse and highly competitive marketplace. Over recent decades competition has
increased from commercial pressures of large retailers and the growth of imports. As a result, the
value of Australia s TCF industry has decreased in relation to Gross Domestic Product from 1.6

Brokeback Mountain Psychology
Brokeback Mountain is a film that describes a tragedy surrounding forbidden love. The love is
between two men, Ennis and Jack and the setting is Wyoming for twenty years from the 1960 s to the
1980 s. This was a time of conservative values that looked at homosexuality in a negative light. These
values caused Ennis and Jack to create a life that was what was expected in spite of what they wanted.
From this came a great deal of frustration and pain for the two men, their wives, and families. The
movie also related to a common issue of today s society and that is the continued discrimination of the
LGBT community. There are signs of change in modern society, but also much needed work to be
done to allow an individual to live a life with freedom to express their sexuality. When the viewer
looks at the film from a sociological perspective, the issue of societal norms is seen and the abnormal
relationship in a homosexual relationship is the focus. When you think of the western part of the
United States, the wild west comes to mind. Settlers moving across our country during the 1800 s to
start a new life and look for adventure. With that comes the roles of the men and women who were
involved in the movement. Men were considered real men , that were in charge of their lives, law,
women, and the land. These men conquered all that was put in front of them and never backed away
from what was put in front of them. Their sexuality was seen as a dominate male who loved and

Personal Narrative About Yosemite
When my dad first talked to me about Yosemite, he described it as the most epic place on earth. I
thought it would be pretty, but I never predicted how unreal it would actually be. My experience there
was one I can never fully put into words. It was liberating, refreshing, and calming. I felt like a light
inside of me had been lit again. When I was staring out at the valley, all my problems seemed to drift
away. Standing at the top of Glacier Point, I take in a panoramic view of my surroundings. Huge
bundles of tourists walk around, taking photos and gasping at the breathtaking view. I stand with my
sister, 25 lb backpacking backpacks sit heavily like a bag of rocks on our backs as we chew our green
apple sour gum. My dad leads us down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As we get closer to the floor of the valley, I get a better look at illilouette falls. The falls shoot out of
the granite rock and swim down into a small lake. We stop here and dip our feet in the cold, but
refreshing, water. I sit down on the side of the lake and splash a bit. I also take the time to chew on a
piece of spicy jerky and crunchy apple. The food recharges my body, and I feel energy flood my body.
Once back on the trail, I drag myself up a set of switchbacks going up the steep rock face. The sun is
beating down at this point, and I wipe the sweat beading up on my forehead. I feel as if I have been
walking forever on the rocky path, small bushes, and plants around me when we finally reach the top.
The wind blows around me like a tornado, helping me. As we start the descend down, it feels as if it
takes forever until we reach the Nevada Falls. They are loud and powerful and tumble down until it
becomes a stream with huge rocks poking out. Around the stream are green trees and lots of plants. At
the top of the falls, there is a footbridge which you are able to cross. I myself cross it, peering at the
falls, intrigued by how turbulent it is. Although the falls are fast and tremendous, they have a calming

The Pros And Cons Of Privatizing Social Security
Social Security is in need of reform as the Social Security Trust Fund is predicted to deplete between
2033 and 2037. Some economists and politicians suggest that taking the social insurance program to
the free market is the answer. What they mean is to privatize the program, where it would be
mandatory for one to put funds in a private retirement investment account. Social Security began to
run a deficit in 2010, meaning that the amount of money collected from taxes was not enough to cover
the cost of the program. Privatizing Social Security has its advantages and disadvantages according to
empirical findings and theoretical simulations. I will summarize what economists have collected from
Chile and Mexico, these are just a few countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chile is the pioneer for social security going from the public sector to the private sector. The
reformation to privatizing social security has been a success for Chile, but one must also consider the
other factors that were present at the time. One has to consider that the country became decentralized,
where much of the businesses were owned by the public sector. They shifted to the private sector and
stopped being a closed economy. They opened up to globalization and lowered tariffs which helped
the country grow. The reason they reformed their social security program was due to social security s
burden on the Chilean economy. The systems failure was due to an unchanged requirement to receive
benefits. Much contribution to the failure was due to demographics. With people living longer the old
system was offset where in the 1955 the contributor to beneficiary ratio was 12 to 1 and in 1979 2.5 to

Shortest Life Expectancy
There are several factors that effect a person s life expectancy and where you live could put you more
at risk. One factor is physical environment. Some people are more likely than others to be exposed to
the potentially harmful effects of physical, chemical, and biological agents. Another factor is social
environment, which can effect a person depending on whether or not their environment is more
stressful than others. Differential susceptibility is another factor meaning that physical appearance or
height could gain you more benefits over a shorter person who is less attractive. A very important
factor is individual lifestyle. This includes a person s diet and physical activity and research shows
that those who live in a safe neighborhood get more exercise than those who live in an unsafe
neighborhood. Lastly, differential access to/response to health care services. ... Show more content on

prevalence of obesity, and had a high geriatrician shortfall.

1.8 Connection
Connections Report 1.8 Connections
The theme of love connection between people is a very important part of life. I choose this theme as it
is a very relevant and relatable subject for many people in our society. The four texts I chose were: the
fictional novel Delirium , by Lauren Oliver, the song Blank Space by Taylor Swift, song Same Love
by Macklemore and fictional novel Girl Online , by Zoe Sugg. There was a strong connection of love
between two people in all of these texts.
The first text that I looked at that showed the connection of love was Delirium. This novel discusses
the connection of love. Love is the main theme of this novel. The main character ... Show more

This song is about the struggles society creates for people identifying as a homosexual and discusses
equality and discrimination of people that like the same sex. Macklemore was driven to write this song
because of the issue of equal marriage right and the use of gay as degrading word in society and in the
hip hop industry. He wanted to set an example for others in the music industry, and help change the
stereotypes of homosexuality. As Macklemore writes in his song a bunch of stereotypes all in my head
this shows that society riddles our brains into thinking that it isn t alright to be gay, when really it is.
These stereotypes make it hard for people to feel accepted about their sexuality. This song discusses
how gay is used in an insultive way as quoted in the lyrics; If I was gay I would think hip hop hates
me, Have you read the YouTube comments lately, Man that s gay Gets dropped on the daily, We ve
become so numb to what we re sayin These examples show the connection of love, but in a different
way to what we would usually expect. This song has a different view on the connection of love
compared to other books with the theme of love, as it is about homosexuality rather than
heterosexuality. In my opinion I think what Macklemore is trying to convey is very smart, and I
believe that there should be equality on who you love. I also thing that the words such as gay shouldn t
be used with such negative connotations, and I m sure many others in our society would

The Second Example Of The Benefits Of Military Intervention
The second example of the benefits of military intervention is shown during World War II which
started in 1931 when Japan Invaded Manchuria. The War involved virtually every part of the world,
split up into two groups, the Axis, and the Allies. The Axis consisted of Germany, Italy, and Japan, and
the Allies consisted of France, Great Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union, and China. During
this time Germany was under the power of dictator Adolf Hitler, who was determined to invade and
occupy Poland because of the number of infantry divisions it had. Though invading Poland would be

Speech About Birthdays
Do you ever think to yourself that some of you birthdays are more valuable than others? Personally, I
happen to thinks some of my birthdays aren t as fun as when I was six years old. Currently I am
eighteen years old and as the years have gone I ve realized how different things have been. I must say
I don t remember all of my birthdays from when I was a kid, although I do remember a few of them.
When I was five I had a birthday party and my mom hired a clown. I guess the lady was very friendly
she handed out prizes and played with the children. It was like having a sister for the first time.
Although I have to say I m not a big fan of clowns, this woman made my fifth birthday party an
outstanding time! Her name was Betty, and clown Betty had paint with her, so she painted all the
children s faces. I believe she had painted a pink butterfly on my face and my father had painted his
face as Spider Man. I also recall playing many games, it just happened to be musical chairs that I won
on. For my prize I had to pick out of a huge surprise box, I was very happy with my prize I had won
myself a Snow White game for my Gameboy. Some of the girls got a bit jealous and would say that
the clown would only let me win because it was my birthday. In my opinion I think they were just
upset that I had won and they didn t. I also remember turning six, my mom and dad had taken me to
Disney for the very first time. I was extremely excited to meet Cinderella and all the other characters

Research Paper On My Sister s Keeper
From a young age, everyone is planning for their futures; whether is it a little girl planning her
wedding or parents having a college tuition account for their children. However, they never put into
perspective that they might never make it to their wedding day or that their children might not make it
to college. In My Sister s Keeper by Jodi Picoult she shows how life is unpredictable and tomorrow
may never come. As Sara says, There are no guarantees about anything, least of all one s future
(Picoult 167). When this quote is said in the novel everyone thinks of Kate most likely will not make
it to her wedding day, but no one ever thinks about Anna not making it either. Sara has this perspective
on how she treats her children also. She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of Jesse being neglected at the young age of ten is when Sara will not take Jesse to his
orthodontics appointment and she says, I d think that since you re ten, you might be able to grow up
enough to realize that the whole world doesn t always revolve around you... [However, Jesse argues
back saying,] Why don t you grow up? Why don t you figure out that the world doesn t revolve around
[Kate]? (166). This shows Jesse s frustration with Sara s lack of attention to him and how she is
always choosing Kate before himself. On the other hand, Anna is tired of only getting attention when
she is needed to save Kate. She feels used and unlistened to by her parents. This is illustrated when
she is talking to Campbell about being an organ donor and says, They don t listen to me... They don t
really pay attention to me, except when they need my blood or something (22). Both of these
examples displays the lack of attention given to Jesse and Anna. The favoritism given to Kate by Sara
is not only because of her illness, but the thought of losing her before her other children. However,
this is ironic because Anna dies in the car crash before Kate giving Sara less time with Anna than Kate
showing there are no guarantees for your future and Sara should ve

Steroids and Sports Essay
Steroids and Sports Steroids, ever since their introduction into the sports world five decades ago, they
have been a controversial issue (WebMD medical news). Anabolic performance dates as far back as
the original Olympic Games. Today walking into any gym you will find some one who is using
steroids or some kind of enhancement supplement. Anabolic steroids are so popular with athletes from
high School level all the way up to the top. For the past fifty years, athletes around the world use

The use of steroids by athletes to gain muscle mass is rapid and effective. Each individual user makes
a decision based on the activity they participate. Some athletes desire to jump higher, others to run
faster, or to throw the farthest and hit home runs, yet others desire to bench the highest weight
possible; and football players want to improve on lean body mass and have a comparative edge,
whether in high school, collage, or the pros. Andrew Rensik, of 9BNEWS reports that, national
statistics show that as much as ten percent of high school athletes are involved in steroids
(9NEWS.com). A university of Michigan report by the Monitoring Future Study puts steroid use at 4
percent in 2002, up from 25 percent in 2000. In 1992 71 percent of high school seniors felt that steroid
use wasn t worth risking their health, that number dropped to 51 percent in 2002 (www.nsba.org, Ron

percent), in 2000 and 2002 for 10th graders (2.2 percent). Eighth graders reported significant decrease
in lifetime and annual steroid use in 2004, as well as a decrease in perceived availability of steroid
drugs. A significant decrease was also measured among 10th graders for 2004 (Infofacts 2). Athletes

Long-term Recall of Traumatic Experiences Essays
On the morning of September 11, 2001, exactly at 9:22 a.m., I woke up to start my day and turned my
television on. Instantly, Fox News had reported that a commercial plane had smashed into the Twin
Towers of New York City, just minutes earlier. While the story was certainly shocking, I wanted to
know more and watched the horrific aftermath unfold, as it continued to happen. I remember an
incredible feeling of sadness that I could do nothing to help the people in these buildings, as well as a
great concern that more attempts could be made to create further tragedy elsewhere.
As time went on that morning, sketchy pieces of information about rescue plans and other efforts

As mentioned earlier, for example, the images of the second plane flying into the building will surely
stay with me; however, smaller details of the incident, which have become generalized over the years,
are not nearly as clear or in order like they were on the day they happened. This is not at all surprising,
since according to Perina (2002), flashbulb memories do, in fact, degrade over a short period of time
(para. 1). The extent to which these events fade or change in our thoughts can vary in degree, and is
generally believed to be directly proportionate to a person s level of involvement in the events that
occurred.
How accurate is this memory now? Although, according to my recollections, much of that morning
seems to be more precisely recorded and recalled than other events I have experienced, further
indications are that this may not be so, for research shows that... supposed flashbulb memories are not
necessarily any more accurate than other memories (ScienCentral, 2007, para. 6). To easily illustrate
these findings, minor details, which were a part of my memory during or shortly after the attacks, have
since been forgotten. Examples of such information are: names of rescuers and firemen mentioned
during broadcasts, flight numbers of the planes used in the tragedy, and the identities of the passengers
aboard each plane. On the other hand, disasters do seem to affect a person s ability to remember a
number of significant details, which under

Toxic Shock Syndrome Research Paper
Toxic shock syndrome is a rare, life threatening complication that is the outcome of certain types of
bacterial infections. It is caused by the release of poisonous substances due to an overgrowth of the
bacteria Streptococcus aureus, or strep, which is found in the bodies of most women. Toxic shock
syndrome has historically been associated primarily with the use of superabsorbent tampons.
However, due to this fact most manufacturers have pulled certain types of tampons off the market;
which has caused the incidence of toxic shock syndrome in menstruating women to decline. Toxic
shock syndrome can also affect men, children, and postmenopausal women. Risk factors for toxic
shock syndrome include skin wounds and may even lead to surgery. If there is someone at risk for

As of 2009, studies conducted by the CDC have shown that asthma impacts approximately one in
every twelve people, and the numbers only continue to grow (CDC, 2011). Some of the most common
symptoms can range anywhere from coughing (especially at night or during exercise), wheezing and
chest tightness, to shortness of breath. Asthma is often a chronic condition and while many times it
can present itself as being mild, it can also sometimes lead to death if a person suffers an asthma
attack. Asthma can be genetic, but it can also be caused, as well as exacerbated by, environmental
factors such as air pollution. Studies have shown that children living in the Bronx are experiencing
asthma at levels eight times higher than the national average. In addition, rates of death from asthma
are a whopping three times higher than the national average, and hospitalization rates at about five
times higher. (Ruppell, 2000). Asthma is not a disease that targets only one group of people, yet the
Bronx still exhibits disproportionately high levels of asthma especially in neighborhoods that are

Roe v. Wade (1973): Second Draft Norma McCorvey was a young woman who had dropped out of
high school, divorced from her husband, and was raising her five year old daughter with very little
money. She tried to obtain an abortion but was unable to under Texas law in 1969. At the time, Texas
did not allow women to have abortions unless the mother s life was in danger. McCorvey had no
choice but to carry the baby full term and give up the baby she wanted to abort. Her lawyer also

Academic Integration Into Career Technical Education
The purpose of this problem of practice is to investigate successful programs and curricula that

Technical Centers that lack teachers academically certified The constructivist paradigm emphasizes
the importance of exploring how different stakeholders in a social setting construct their beliefs
(Mertens, 2015). It also suggests that learners develop a theory and gain knowledge from their

This aligns to my problem of practice, since I plan to use the case study design, conduct interviews
and review other relevant documents during the data collection phase of my research.
On the other hand, the post positivism paradigm is comparative to my problem of practice as well.
Post positivists believe that researchers can be influenced by previous knowledge or background as
they seek to verify information. Objectivity must be adhered to and procedures strictly followed so
that personal bias does not influence outcomes during the research process (Mertens, 2015). Verifying
information about academic integration and increased student achievement in my problem of practice
could lead to the identification of relationships and prove or disprove the what questions. For example,
what evidence exists that the integration of academics into CTE courses at shared time centers has
resulted in positive educational outcomes? Does the information related to the question need to be
verified? Or does it just make logical sense that academic integration improves student achievement?
If the phenomenon is verified, who will benefit? With my background and experience in CTE and
academic integration as a teacher and administrator, true objective knowledge may be difficult to
achieve, but I believe it can be done with careful planning and by following strict procedures. Also,
the quantitative method for research and data collection is normally predominant in the

Essay on Hawthorne s The Scarlett Letter
Hawthorne s The Scarlett Letter
Works Cited Missing
He is the complete type of man of the world, the social ideal, courteous, quiet, well informed,
imperturbably. Nevertheless, his moral nature is a poisonous and irreclaimable wilderness, in which
blooms not a single flower of heavenly parentage. (J. Hawthorne) Over the course of seven years,
Roger Chillingworth changes from a calm, scholarly, and kind person to an evil, corrupt, and satanic
being.
Roger Chillingworth s life in England with Hester was happy. He studied alchemy, and was scholarly
and well learned. Although Hester and Chillingworth did not share love, they were happy together.

These are the first hints of the evil that would soon consume him.
The following three years bring many negative changes to Chillingworth. Hester Pryne was startled to
perceive what a change has come over his features how his dark complexion seemed to have grown
duskier, and his figure more misshapen... (108) He had established himself as a doctor in Boston.
People felt it was Divine providence that Chillingworth came to Boston to tend for their loved
Minister Dimsdale. Chillingworth became acquaintances with Dimsdale and eventually moved in with
him. Chillingworth studied the Minister closely and tore through his ideas and thoughts. He now dug
into the poor clergy man s heart like a miner searching for gold; or, rather, like a sexton delving into a
grave, possibly in quest of a jewel that had been buried on the dead man s bosom, but likely to find
nothing save mortality and corruption. (125) Chillingworth is now almost completely consumed with
evil. He still is calm, but was never released from his horrible fascination with learning the identity of
Pearl s father. In the presence of so much wickedness over the course of three years changed
Chillingworth.
Chillingworth is being consumed by evil gradually; consequently, when he finds the marking on
Dimsdale s chest, assuring him his victim, he is completely overcome by devilry knowing at last that
he has found his victim. Had a man seen old Roger Chillingworth, at that moment of his ecstasy, he

Persuasive Essay Wrestling
Many argue that wrestling should be excluded out of the olympics. Some say wrestling is a boring
sport to watch, unhealthy, causes injuries and leads to children being violent. I find this to be very
false. I think that wrestling is one of the most important sports, mentally physically and just all
around. Wrestling is a sport that creates character and has children and young adults working hard for
what they want to achieve.
As a wrestler myself, I want to be the best I can be. Therefor I have to commit to it. Employers often
look to hire wrestlers because we are dedicated and do anything we need to do to the best of our
ability. If a wrestler chose to be a ditch digger for a living, he would be the best and most dedicated
ditch digger ever.

I cut back on high calorie, sugary foods. I also eat healthier and drink more water to stay hydrated. I
condition myself so i won t be tired during matches, so that means lots of running, which is great for
anybody. When wrestlers cut weight to drop to a lower weight class, it s not the sports fault, it s
simply the determination brought on by the athlete.
Some say that wrestling also influences kids to be aggressive or have anger issues. Studies show that
kids who wrestle tend be be more calm and also more caring than any regular person. I personally let
everything out at practice so I don t take it out on other people outside of the training room. Wrestling
gets things off of my mind and all you re really focused on every day during those few hours at

Wrestling is one of the oldest sports known to man. It was also the first sport to be brought into the

Analysis Of The Poem The Of Mendoza Utilises Onofre...
It is fair to say that Mendoza utilises Onofre Bouvila as a character to be portrayed as a direct parallel
to the development and aspirations of Barcelona. This is expressed in the novel, since; it is irrelevant
how rich and powerful Onofre becomes. This is due to the fact that, he can never be on the top table of
the social ladder literally and figuratively, due to his impoverished upbringing and working class
background. corrió hacia la mesa presidencial... Al llegar a la mesa advirtió que no quedaba una sola

Therefore, one can surmise that Barcelona will never be able to consider it as the most significant and
influential city in Spain. This is mainly due to the fact that, it has the smaller population and is not the
capital city.
This is further illustrated with Onofre at the end of the book. When Onofre disappears on his flying
machine it is Mendoza s method to demonstrate to the reader that Onofre has given up on his
aspiration of achieving the highest echelons of the social ladder in Spain. This could be Mendoza s
intention to show that Barcelona s aspiration to escape the suppression by the hands of Madrid is
dissipating. Los que alertados por el ruido de los motores habían salido a los balcones o habían subido
a los terrados vieron cómo la máquina voladora desviaba sur umbo hacia el mar, como si la empujara
un viento repentino de poniente. This shows us that Mendoza is trying to tell the reader that what
happened to Onofre is not important to us. This could be a criticism by Mendoza, about the vociferous
nature of which Barcelona and Catalonia attempt to gain independence from Spain. He achieves this
denigration by displaying Catalonia s cries for independence as falling on deaf ears. Hence Mendoza
uses the character of Onofre to express his point of view that the objectives Catalonia

New Believer Research Paper
In today s society, there is an impending question amongst many Christians. Should Christians read
the bible every day? I believe it is necessary to read the bible most of the time. Although, when it
comes down to the how often you read, this is based on a person s overall walk with God. Whether the
person is a new believer, a weak believer, or strong believer the amount they read the bible is based
upon this.
As a new believer, I believe it is a must that a person reads the bible as close to every day as possible.
I remember when my parents first came to Christ, they would read the bible. Not just because they
wanted to, but they were hungry for the word and wanted to dive head first into it. This is not bad at
all don t get me wrong. With them being new believers, they are going to try to soak up the Word like
someone sipping out of a straw. They want to read this life changing book that Christians talk about so
much. Compare it to this, a little boy walks into a candy store and buys some candy. The Mom says
that he can eat it right away, so the kid rips the wrapper off as quickly as he can and shoves the candy
in his mouth. That is kind of how a new believer is with the bible. They shove their whole face into
the bible to taste its sweet joy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a person is truly strong in christ then they could get by with reading the Bible two or three times a
week. So what is a strong believer? To me, a strong believer is someone who has the Word in their life
and uses the Word to help with everyday things. The Word of God is so strong in them that they can
quote whatever scripture they need to help them or help others in a time of need. These people would
be like the candy store worker. Their job in the store is to help that kid that is super shy or to help the
eager kid. Those strong believers won t only be helping more people achieve a better life with Christ
but always practicing what the Word

Tone:
Since there are many authors in Freedom Writers Diary , There are different tones to different entries.
One entry, when the author is talking about his friend getting shot, the tone is shocked, that his friend
was shot, and nobody seemed to care. In other chapters, like the one when a girl is talking about how
she will be the first in her family to go to college, the tone is excited. Throughout the book, the tone is
mostly reflective, because the authors are reflecting on their past choices.
Irony:
The only irony that is in this book, is when many students are saying that Mrs.Gruwell will not last
more than a few weeks, but she ends up lasting multiple years.

Sexually Transmitted Disease Essay
Sexually Transmitted Diseases Sex is a popular subject; it is on television, in advertisements, in
magazines, and practically everywhere. One very serious side effect of an increase of sexual activity is
the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases. They affect more than twelve million Americans
each year. Sexually transmitted diseases are becoming common and widely spread throughout
Americans because of unprotected sex, permiscuity, and multiple sex partners. Some of the most
commonly found sexually transmitted diseases are gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV/AIDS, and syphilis.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates there are three million new infections in the
United each year. (Ultimate Guide: Chlamydia par.2) Chlamydia is a bacterial sexually transmitted
disease. This organism, a very small bacterium, gets its name from the Greek word chlamys, meaning,
cloak. It must cloak itself inside a cell to multiply. The infection is often persistent and relatively silent
for long periods, because the cell provides camouflage for the germ. (Jackson 73) Chlamydia is
mainly transmitted through anal and vaginal sex with an infected partner. It is also possible, but not
very common to spread chlamydia through oral sex. Another way it can be transmitted is from an
infected mother to her newborn child during birth. People can get eye infections from chlamydia if an
infected bodily fluid reaches the eye during sex. (Ultimate Guide: Chlamydia par.3) Symptoms of the
infection appear in seven to twenty one days. Chlamydia, often called the silent sexually transmitted
disease, does not show any symptoms at all. Symptoms can include abnormal fluid discharge from the
penis or vagina, pain or burning during urination, testicular pain, vaginal bleeding, bleeding after or
pain during intercourse, rectal inflammation, rectal discharge, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain.

Wonderland Satire
In Carroll s Alice s Adventures in Wonderland, Alice falls down a rabbit hold and attempts to navigate
a nonsensical world within in her own imagination. Carroll s children s tale, written during the
Victorian period and published in 1865, incorporates parodied features of Victorian society and culture
that Carroll disagreed with and found to be nonsensical. The author contested the sanctimonious and
preachy moralizing that was taught to children through literature and adult instruction. In Carroll s
Alice s Adventures in Wonderland, the author uses Alice s encounters with the creatures in
Wonderland to critique and explore the weaknesses in Victorian values and the education system
through his parody of didactic poetry geared towards the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By ordering Alice to repeat poetry, the demanding creatures remind Alice of the teachers she has been
instructed by, as Alice has become accustomed to associating learning with the regiment of having her
knowledge tested based on memorization and recitation. The poem Alice recites is a parody of another
moralistic Isaac Watts poem titled The Sluggard. Carroll s version, Tis the Voice of the Lobster
completely alters the original poem aside from the rhyme and meter. While the moral of The Sluggard
teaches children about the negative effects of leading a sluggish, unproductive lifestyle, Carroll s
parodied version is a tale about a lobster who acts as if he is not terrified by sharks yet his voice has a
timid and tremulous sound when sharks are near (80). Carroll s poem does not retain any of the moral
elements that are included in Watts s poem. Alice hardly knew what she was saying (80) during
another failed attempt at the recitation of a poem she has worked to memorize. Following Alice s
recitation, the Mock Turtle says, What is the use of repeating all that stuff...if you don t explain it as
you go on? (82). The Mock Turtle s question is reflective of Carroll s critique on the Victorian style of
educational technique that Alice and presumably other Victorian children had trouble utilizing outside
of the classroom, which is finding meaning in the lessons being taught. Carroll makes clear his view
on the Victorian period learning technique of memorization and recitation being ineffective at
educating children

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Blantching In Cooking
3.3 BLANCHING
Blanching is a cooking process in which the food substances, usually a fruit or vegetable, is immersed
in boiling water at temperature ranging approximately from 70°C to 100°C , removed after a brief,
period of time, and finally poured into iced water or placed under cold running water to half the
cooking process. The outer part of the fruit will easy to peel off as putting vegetables or fruits in
boiling water for a minute before putting them into ice water will making the outer part of the fruit
become soft. For an example, when almonds or pistachios are blanched, the skin of the nut softens and

This cooking method usually contains more than one utensils and equipment. When the water is
heated or boiled until it has passed 2120F, the water will turn into steam.
Steaming has more advantages compared to other similar cooking method such as boiling, simmering
or blanching because it doesn t involve agitation so it is actually gentler on delicate items like fish,
prawn, etc. Besides that, steaming cooking method doesn t require the food to be submerged
completely into the water so it prevents the nutrients loss.
When a food is steamed, it also cooked quite fast. The heat of the steam depends on how hot the water
temperature is. The higher the temperature of water, the hotter the steam becomes. Cooking with
steaming method can be done by putting a pot containing sufficient water on the stove and another
layer of pot such as basket above it so that the food will not drowned inside the water and then the pot
is covered. This technique is also called as compartment steaming . The hot steam that circulates
throughout the pot will cook the food quickly. Besides, the bamboo basket steamers used in Asian
Cuisine that we can usually see in dim sum restaurant or pao restaurant is also an example of a

Most contemporary scholars and historians dismiss this source as unreliable and in many places
entirely wrong, in any event, there is no mention of King Arthur in Gilda s writings. This absence of
early written sources pertaining to King Arthur suggests three hypotheses:
1)There is a document or written account that historians have not found or do not have access to;
2)The history of King Arthur was an oral tale, passed down verbally through a number of generations
before it was recorded in written form; or,
3)King Arthur is solely a creation of Medieval, romantic literature.
Cadbury was inhabited as a military strong hold, in the Dark Ages, in Britain.
Whether it was occupied by King Arthur is not proven, what is proven is that the site Camelot was

that attempts to identify Camelot are pointless. The name and the very concept of Camelot are

fact that Lulu Spencer found a body that was wearing jewelry she felt looked like her dads had
everyone thinking that he might be back again. There is a lot of speculation that he could come back
for a time during the fall sweeps. They are on Cassadine Island and you never know who will show up
there. Could Luke Spencer come back as himself or possibly as a ghost? You never know what will
happen, and General Hospital could decide to get Anthony Geary back on the show for a week or two.
The fact that he made this big decision to sell his house shows that Geary doesn t have any plans of
coming back for more than a few episodes. When he left last time, Geary said that he was retiring, but

  • 4. Brokeback Mountain Psychology Brokeback Mountain is a film that describes a tragedy surrounding forbidden love. The love is between two men, Ennis and Jack and the setting is Wyoming for twenty years from the 1960 s to the 1980 s. This was a time of conservative values that looked at homosexuality in a negative light. These values caused Ennis and Jack to create a life that was what was expected in spite of what they wanted. From this came a great deal of frustration and pain for the two men, their wives, and families. The movie also related to a common issue of today s society and that is the continued discrimination of the LGBT community. There are signs of change in modern society, but also much needed work to be done to allow an individual to live a life with freedom to express their sexuality. When the viewer looks at the film from a sociological perspective, the issue of societal norms is seen and the abnormal relationship in a homosexual relationship is the focus. When you think of the western part of the United States, the wild west comes to mind. Settlers moving across our country during the 1800 s to start a new life and look for adventure. With that comes the roles of the men and women who were involved in the movement. Men were considered real men , that were in charge of their lives, law, women, and the land. These men conquered all that was put in front of them and never backed away from what was put in front of them. Their sexuality was seen as a dominate male who loved and ... • 5. Personal Narrative About Yosemite When my dad first talked to me about Yosemite, he described it as the most epic place on earth. I thought it would be pretty, but I never predicted how unreal it would actually be. My experience there was one I can never fully put into words. It was liberating, refreshing, and calming. I felt like a light inside of me had been lit again. When I was staring out at the valley, all my problems seemed to drift away. Standing at the top of Glacier Point, I take in a panoramic view of my surroundings. Huge bundles of tourists walk around, taking photos and gasping at the breathtaking view. I stand with my sister, 25 lb backpacking backpacks sit heavily like a bag of rocks on our backs as we chew our green apple sour gum. My dad leads us down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As we get closer to the floor of the valley, I get a better look at illilouette falls. The falls shoot out of the granite rock and swim down into a small lake. We stop here and dip our feet in the cold, but refreshing, water. I sit down on the side of the lake and splash a bit. I also take the time to chew on a piece of spicy jerky and crunchy apple. The food recharges my body, and I feel energy flood my body. Once back on the trail, I drag myself up a set of switchbacks going up the steep rock face. The sun is beating down at this point, and I wipe the sweat beading up on my forehead. I feel as if I have been walking forever on the rocky path, small bushes, and plants around me when we finally reach the top. The wind blows around me like a tornado, helping me. As we start the descend down, it feels as if it takes forever until we reach the Nevada Falls. They are loud and powerful and tumble down until it becomes a stream with huge rocks poking out. Around the stream are green trees and lots of plants. At the top of the falls, there is a footbridge which you are able to cross. I myself cross it, peering at the falls, intrigued by how turbulent it is. Although the falls are fast and tremendous, they have a calming effect on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Pros And Cons Of Privatizing Social Security Social Security is in need of reform as the Social Security Trust Fund is predicted to deplete between 2033 and 2037. Some economists and politicians suggest that taking the social insurance program to the free market is the answer. What they mean is to privatize the program, where it would be mandatory for one to put funds in a private retirement investment account. Social Security began to run a deficit in 2010, meaning that the amount of money collected from taxes was not enough to cover the cost of the program. Privatizing Social Security has its advantages and disadvantages according to empirical findings and theoretical simulations. I will summarize what economists have collected from Chile and Mexico, these are just a few countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chile is the pioneer for social security going from the public sector to the private sector. The reformation to privatizing social security has been a success for Chile, but one must also consider the other factors that were present at the time. One has to consider that the country became decentralized, where much of the businesses were owned by the public sector. They shifted to the private sector and stopped being a closed economy. They opened up to globalization and lowered tariffs which helped the country grow. The reason they reformed their social security program was due to social security s burden on the Chilean economy. The systems failure was due to an unchanged requirement to receive benefits. Much contribution to the failure was due to demographics. With people living longer the old system was offset where in the 1955 the contributor to beneficiary ratio was 12 to 1 and in 1979 2.5 to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some people are more likely than others to be exposed to the potentially harmful effects of physical, chemical, and biological agents. Another factor is social environment, which can effect a person depending on whether or not their environment is more stressful than others. Differential susceptibility is another factor meaning that physical appearance or height could gain you more benefits over a shorter person who is less attractive. • 8. 1.8 Connection Connections Report 1.8 Connections The theme of love connection between people is a very important part of life. I choose this theme as it is a very relevant and relatable subject for many people in our society. The four texts I chose were: the fictional novel Delirium , by Lauren Oliver, the song Blank Space by Taylor Swift, song Same Love by Macklemore and fictional novel Girl Online , by Zoe Sugg. There was a strong connection of love between two people in all of these texts. The first text that I looked at that showed the connection of love was Delirium. This novel discusses the connection of love. Love is the main theme of this novel. The main character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This song is about the struggles society creates for people identifying as a homosexual and discusses equality and discrimination of people that like the same sex. Macklemore was driven to write this song because of the issue of equal marriage right and the use of gay as degrading word in society and in the hip hop industry. He wanted to set an example for others in the music industry, and help change the stereotypes of homosexuality. As Macklemore writes in his song a bunch of stereotypes all in my head this shows that society riddles our brains into thinking that it isn t alright to be gay, when really it is. These stereotypes make it hard for people to feel accepted about their sexuality. This song discusses how gay is used in an insultive way as quoted in the lyrics; If I was gay I would think hip hop hates me, Have you read the YouTube comments lately, Man that s gay Gets dropped on the daily, We ve become so numb to what we re sayin These examples show the connection of love, but in a different way to what we would usually expect. This song has a different view on the connection of love compared to other books with the theme of love, as it is about homosexuality rather than heterosexuality. In my opinion I think what Macklemore is trying to convey is very smart, and I believe that there should be equality on who you love. I also thing that the words such as gay shouldn t be used with such negative connotations, and I m sure many others in our society would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personally, I happen to thinks some of my birthdays aren t as fun as when I was six years old. Currently I am eighteen years old and as the years have gone I ve realized how different things have been. I must say I don t remember all of my birthdays from when I was a kid, although I do remember a few of them. When I was five I had a birthday party and my mom hired a clown. I guess the lady was very friendly she handed out prizes and played with the children. It was like having a sister for the first time. Although I have to say I m not a big fan of clowns, this woman made my fifth birthday party an outstanding time! Her name was Betty, and clown Betty had paint with her, so she painted all the children s faces. I believe she had painted a pink butterfly on my face and my father had painted his face as Spider Man. I also recall playing many games, it just happened to be musical chairs that I won on. For my prize I had to pick out of a huge surprise box, I was very happy with my prize I had won myself a Snow White game for my Gameboy. Some of the girls got a bit jealous and would say that the clown would only let me win because it was my birthday. In my opinion I think they were just upset that I had won and they didn t. Research Paper On My Sister s Keeper From a young age, everyone is planning for their futures; whether is it a little girl planning her wedding or parents having a college tuition account for their children. However, they never put into perspective that they might never make it to their wedding day or that their children might not make it to college. In My Sister s Keeper by Jodi Picoult she shows how life is unpredictable and tomorrow may never come. As Sara says, There are no guarantees about anything, least of all one s future (Picoult 167). [However, Jesse argues back saying,] Why don t you grow up? Why don t you figure out that the world doesn t revolve around [Kate]? (166). This shows Jesse s frustration with Sara s lack of attention to him and how she is always choosing Kate before himself. On the other hand, Anna is tired of only getting attention when she is needed to save Kate. She feels used and unlistened to by her parents. This is illustrated when she is talking to Campbell about being an organ donor and says, They don t listen to me... They don t really pay attention to me, except when they need my blood or something (22). Both of these examples displays the lack of attention given to Jesse and Anna. The favoritism given to Kate by Sara is not only because of her illness, but the thought of losing her before her other children. Instantly, Fox News had reported that a commercial plane had smashed into the Twin Towers of New York City, just minutes earlier. While the story was certainly shocking, I wanted to know more and watched the horrific aftermath unfold, as it continued to happen. I remember an incredible feeling of sadness that I could do nothing to help the people in these buildings, as well as a great concern that more attempts could be made to create further tragedy elsewhere. This is not at all surprising, since according to Perina (2002), flashbulb memories do, in fact, degrade over a short period of time (para. 1). The extent to which these events fade or change in our thoughts can vary in degree, and is generally believed to be directly proportionate to a person s level of involvement in the events that occurred. How accurate is this memory now? Although, according to my recollections, much of that morning seems to be more precisely recorded and recalled than other events I have experienced, further indications are that this may not be so, for research shows that... supposed flashbulb memories are not necessarily any more accurate than other memories (ScienCentral, 2007, para. 6). To easily illustrate these findings, minor details, which were a part of my memory during or shortly after the attacks, have since been forgotten. Examples of such information are: names of rescuers and firemen mentioned during broadcasts, flight numbers of the planes used in the tragedy, and the identities of the passengers aboard each plane. It is caused by the release of poisonous substances due to an overgrowth of the bacteria Streptococcus aureus, or strep, which is found in the bodies of most women. Toxic shock syndrome has historically been associated primarily with the use of superabsorbent tampons. However, due to this fact most manufacturers have pulled certain types of tampons off the market; which has caused the incidence of toxic shock syndrome in menstruating women to decline. Toxic shock syndrome can also affect men, children, and postmenopausal women. Risk factors for toxic shock syndrome include skin wounds and may even lead to surgery. Some of the most common symptoms can range anywhere from coughing (especially at night or during exercise), wheezing and chest tightness, to shortness of breath. Asthma is often a chronic condition and while many times it can present itself as being mild, it can also sometimes lead to death if a person suffers an asthma attack. Asthma can be genetic, but it can also be caused, as well as exacerbated by, environmental factors such as air pollution. Studies have shown that children living in the Bronx are experiencing asthma at levels eight times higher than the national average. In addition, rates of death from asthma are a whopping three times higher than the national average, and hospitalization rates at about five times higher. (Ruppell, 2000). Asthma is not a disease that targets only one group of people, yet the Bronx still exhibits disproportionately high levels of asthma especially in neighborhoods that are poorer areas of the city. Therefore, one can surmise that Barcelona will never be able to consider it as the most significant and influential city in Spain. This is mainly due to the fact that, it has the smaller population and is not the capital city. This is further illustrated with Onofre at the end of the book. When Onofre disappears on his flying machine it is Mendoza s method to demonstrate to the reader that Onofre has given up on his aspiration of achieving the highest echelons of the social ladder in Spain. This could be Mendoza s intention to show that Barcelona s aspiration to escape the suppression by the hands of Madrid is dissipating. Los que alertados por el ruido de los motores habían salido a los balcones o habían subido a los terrados vieron cómo la máquina voladora desviaba sur umbo hacia el mar, como si la empujara un viento repentino de poniente. Whether the person is a new believer, a weak believer, or strong believer the amount they read the bible is based upon this. The poem Alice recites is a parody of another moralistic Isaac Watts poem titled The Sluggard. Carroll s version, Tis the Voice of the Lobster completely alters the original poem aside from the rhyme and meter. While the moral of The Sluggard teaches children about the negative effects of leading a sluggish, unproductive lifestyle, Carroll s parodied version is a tale about a lobster who acts as if he is not terrified by sharks yet his voice has a timid and tremulous sound when sharks are near (80). Carroll s poem does not retain any of the moral elements that are included in Watts s poem. Alice hardly knew what she was saying (80) during another failed attempt at the recitation of a poem she has worked to memorize. Following Alice s recitation, the Mock Turtle says, What is the use of repeating all that stuff...if you don t explain it as you go on? (82). The Mock Turtle s question is reflective of Carroll s critique on the Victorian style of educational technique that Alice and presumably other Victorian children had trouble utilizing outside of the classroom, which is finding meaning in the lessons being taught.
