Ritalin And Abortion
She would take Ritalin to help her stay up at night to finish papers, and the first she did was in college
to help her relax and focus. She knew she was addicted to drugs in college, but still graduated with
from a top university, with a dual Masters. She secured a great job after graduation, and moved in with
her boyfriend. It was around a year later she found out she was pregnant. Her boyfriend was also using
drugs and was controlling. He insisted that she have an abortion, because what was he going to do
with a child . She mentioned, killing her baby was the hardest thing she has ever had to do. After the
abortion, she fell deeper into drug use, and after a certain point she was unable to stay at her job. She

Case Study 3: Carlson Companies
Carlson Companies is known for being one of the leading privately held organizations in the United
States. Carlson Enterprises has an existence in the business, marketing, travel, and hospitality
industries. The IT division known as Carlson Shared Services, works as a service provider to all of the
internal customers (Welcome to the World of Carlson, 2012). Carlson Shared Services supports a
range of user applications and services. The IT division also uses a centralized data processing model
that is designed to exceed the business operational requirements. The central computing environment
contains an IBM mainframe and more than fifty (50) networked HP and Sun servers (Welcome to the
World of Carlson, 2012). The mainframe promotes a broad range of applications. These include the
Oracle financial database, e mail, Microsoft Exchange, Web, PeopleSoft, and a data warehouse

A range of storage devices can be added in order to store many terabytes of data without interrupting
the flow of business operations. Storage is completely independent when it comes to the applications

attained when storage processing is relocated from the systems to a separate network. A well
configured SAN with mirroring and redundant servers can greatly reduce any downtime (Vacca,
2002). A SAN is not physically attached to any particular server or network and can be readily shared

The Human Good Analysis
When a person is treated as a disease rather than an actual human being, it exposes a symptom of an
even bigger illness within our own society. The LGBTQ+ community has become more accepted in
modern times, however, there s is still hate, and stereotyping that dwells within. Often, when a person
comes out they are met with the bright light of self acceptance, but also, they must now face possible
danger from others who cannot accept them, especially in the workplace. A person should not have to
face discrimination from the workplace from the people they serve due to sexual orientation, society
must learn how to overcome their hate and instead value the person for who they are and not for
whom they love. I will dive into a case of discrimination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The easier said than done act to stand up against the discriminator is often never done. In this case, no
one stood up for Jimenez, not even Jimenez herself. When I say to stand up against, I don t mean to
yell, overreact, or use that as a reason to discriminate others. To me, to stand up against discrimination
is to inform the discriminator that their actions are discriminatory and instead ask them why they are
stating such statements. I feel that opens a conversation, and helps to get to the root of why he or she
feels that way, which in turn helps to educate. The great philosopher Rumi, was tolerant of people
from other cultures because he traveled and was able to learn about these different cultures, customs,
and people. He preferred to learn than to judge. Education is such an important aspect in the
progression against discrimination, and we should model ourselves to learn rather than judge, like
Rumi. As Rumi states, If you are irritated by every rub, how will you be polished? (Rad, 2010). I
interpret this as if a person is not willing to learn, how will you ever grow? If that man would have
been able to try to learn about my friend and about homosexuality, maybe he would have gotten a lot
closer towards being

The Current Idea Of Intelligence
Paper 1
Intelligence has been identified in many different ways throughout history and varies between
different cultures. The current idea of intelligence consists of intangible properties that include, but are
not limited to, knowledge based thinking, apprehending, adaptive purposeful striving, fluid analytic
reasoning, mental playfulness, and idiosyncratic learning (Krishnamurthy, 2015).
Progression of Intelligence Testing Through the Ages
The notion that Caucasians were superior to other races (e.g., African Americans, Native Americans,
etc.) was a well accepted notion that preceded, and even influenced, early intelligence testing (Gould,
1996). Research conducted by Samuel Morton on human skulls began in the 1820 s attempted to set
up a scientifically based racial ranking system of intelligence through the use of Craniometry.
However, Morton s research was heavily biased, although it appeared his biases were unintentional
and lacked conscious manipulation (p. 101). Even though data from Morton s research acknowledged
that brain size was relative to body size, he failed to correct for differences in sex or body size (p. 94).
Morton also made errors that favored his prejudices which included inaccurate measurements (e.g.,
unequal rounding cranial circumference measurements, over packing skulls) and sampling biases (e.g.,
including unequal female to male ratios in particular samples, over representing certain groups
samples) (p. 86 101).

The Awakening And Literacy Analysis
When you walk down Main Street in Fort Morgan, Colorado, a small farming town, you will see signs
that say there are no bikes allowed on the sidewalk. A part of me believes they were put up in my
honor. My parents had a local shop on Main Street and, when I was not stuck inside working with my
parents, I was riding my bike while trying to avoid the police officer who walked down the street
giving tickets to cars who overstayed their welcome.
From an early age, I learned the ropes of how to interact with customers, and by the third grade, I
thought of myself as the most business savvy person in my class. In order for me to navigate in a
business setting, I was required to develop a more grown up demeanor while at the store because it

patrolled the sidewalks during my youth continues to walk down Main Street, letting my younger

Analysis Of The 17th And 17th Centuries By Ben Jonson
Plagiarism in the 17th and 18th Centuries
A line that appears on the cover page of Poetaster: A Comical Satyr, written in 1601 by Ben Jonson
(1572 1637), the English dramatist and poet, had appeared earlier in Martial s Book VII, Verse 12, an
epigram consisting of 99 verses. We know that Jonson used ideas taken from Ovid (Publius Ovidius
Naso, 43 BCE CE 17), Horace, and Seneca and that his name appears in investigations of plagiarism
in English literature. According to one source, Jonson invented the pejorative term playwright in 1687
to describe someone who had put together the work of others. Jonson alluded to the works of Horace
and Virgil and to Rome. Jonson wrote that the name Canidia was but a borrowed name and that the
ditty was borrowed. The words were Horace s, he stated, Hang him plagiary. This use of the term
plagiary appeared in 1601. It referred to someone who forcefully possessed another. It had appeared
earlier, in 1555, as plagiaire (French), and, in 1577, as plagium (Latin), translated as a net to entangle
game, but was used in English Civil Law when referring to kidnapping or man stealing. It appeared
also in July 1607, when Thomas Legge, Master of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, referred to
the fact that someone had kidnapped his ideas for a play, The Destruction of Jerusalem. The use of
Latin or French was common among the educated and upper classes of that time, many of whom
would have been familiar with one or both languages. Alexander Pope

Analysis Of Samuel Taylor Coleridge s Kubla Khan
Experts widely regard Samuel Taylor Coleridge as one of the few major leaders of British
Romanticism. His poems, both individual works and collaborations with another Romantic leader,
William Wordsworth, are proof of this. His works incorporated ideas that are often found in Romantic
poetry, such as a reverence for nature, emphasis on emotion and imagination over reason and logic,
and other themes that contradicted thinkers of the Age of Reason. Coleridge assisted in the change
from Enlightenment ideals favoring rationality and deduction to a thinking with your heart style.
Coleridge had a strange childhood as the last of ten children and largely isolated from the world, and
therefore had few companions other than the books he so loved to read. This exposed him to the ideas
that eventually made him into the renowned Romantic poet readers view him as today. Coleridge s
upbringing in 18th century England and close association with other poets, including the co authoring
of Lyrical Ballads with William Wordsworth, helped form his worldview and poetic style, evidenced
in his poem Kubla Khan, which in turn shaped English Romanticism and the way readers would look
at poetry forever.
One of the largest influences on Coleridge was his unusual adolescence and the people he met, as a
child and later on. It is said best as, For Coleridge, childhood is the shaper of adult destiny
(Gradesaver). The youngest child of ten, he had his father die when he was not even nine years

De Lima believed this method understated the true value of her efforts, because it did not take into
account that 25 per cent of customers who bought a car today would also buy their next car from the

Conroy was also very concerned with quantifying the return on marketing. He had seen more than his
share of creative marketing ideas that did not produce a tangible financial return. Although brand
building and general recognition were important to him, his dealership was now well known in the

return on his marketing investment. T
Sales could be broken down into two types: sales to new customers and sales to previous customers.

Taking a Look at Miracles
What are miracles? Who would be able to do these miracles? A miracle is an
event which the force of nature including the natural powers of man cannot of
themselves produce, and which must therefore, referred to a supernatural agency
(Fisher1900,9). The existence of the miracles in hand of human still a debatable idea
everywhere. Regarding to some religious perspective, perfuming miracles is an
ability that given by God to holy persons such as prophets and so on. It has
also, different perspectives for religious people for whom who have the ability to
perform miracles. In my study about miracles in the Bible, I found that, miracles
takes place in many chapters, mainly in the four gospels. It has been recorded in
seven different categories. In this paper, I will focus on two of the prophetic miracles
that has performed by Jesus. In this paper I will show that Luke uses of prophetic
miracles of Jesus was to prove that he has special power make him the son of God
as well as the idea of incarnation.
Jesus performed numerous miracles occurrences throughout his earthly
ministry. While these super natural efforts extend it s benefits to the ones who need
it and, therefore showed Jesus sympathy on humankind, their primary reasons was
to affirm his claim to being the Chosen Son of God. These super natural powers
represented with Jesus in several forms. He showed his ability over health problems

Gender In Second World War
This book collects fifteen articles to integrate gender into the politics, military, economy, culture, and
social values in the first half of the 20th century in Germany, where home and front were separated by
a porous line. The articles focus on the creation of gender notion in three phases of wars. Firstly, they
study the building of gender images and relations in the military and the civilian society in the context
of WWI and WWII. Secondly, they investigate the approaches to restore or to reconstruct the concept
of gender after both world wars by reflecting upon men s and women s respective roles during the war.

Germany, the colonial soldiers were described as bloodthirsty, uncivilized and uncivilizable barbarians

One huge technological breakthrough that has directly impacted the field of homicide investigation is
DNA fingerprinting. DNA fingerprinting can be very helpful, especially in rape and murder cases. It
was first used in 1984 to solve a double rape and murder case of two girls, three years apart. The first
victim was Lynda Mann, a fifteen year old girl from Narborough, England. She was walking from one
friend s house to another, when she noticed someone standing by a lamppost close to the entrance gate
of the Carlton Hayes psychiatric hospital. (McCrery, x) Lynda s father called the police when she

worried. The next morning, a hospital orderly on his way to work stumbled across what he thought to
be a partially clothed mannequin, but was actually the rigid, pale body of Lynda Mann. While at the
time there was not the technology to completely solve the case, the technology that was to prove
decisive in solving it [the case] was developed only a few miles from Narborough, at the University of
Leicester, roughly a year after Lynda s tragic death. (McCrery, xi) On September 10, 1984, a

MARFAN SYNDROME

Abstract
Marfan syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects the body s connective tissue. Connective tissue
holds all the body s cells, organs and tissue together. It also plays an important role in helping the
body grow and develop properly. About 1 in 5,000 people have Marfan syndrome, including men and
women of all races and ethnic groups. There is no cure for Marfan syndrome. To develop one,
scientists may have to identify and change the specific gene responsible for the disorder before birth

People with Marfan syndrome are born with it, but features of the disorder are not always present right
away. Some people have a lot of Marfan features at birth or as young children including serious
conditions like aortic enlargement. Others have fewer features when they are young and don t develop
aortic enlargement or other signs of Marfan syndrome until they are adults. Some features of Marfan
syndrome, like those affecting the heart and blood vessels, bones or joints, can get worse over time.
This makes it very important for people with Marfan syndrome and related disorders to receive
accurate, early diagnosis and treatment. Without it, they can be at risk for potentially life threatening
complications. The earlier some treatments are started, the better the outcomes are likely to be.
There is no cure for Marfan syndrome. To develop one, scientists may have to identify and change the
specific gene responsible for the disorder before birth. However, a range of treatment options can
minimize and sometimes prevent complications. The appropriate specialists will develop an
individualized treatment program; the approach the doctor s use depends on which systems have been
affected. Annual evaluations are important to detect any changes in the spine or sternum. This is
particularly important in times of rapid growth, such as adolescence. A serious malformation not only

Descriptive Essay On A Rainy Season
Cumulus clouds gather in the east and stand towering like pillars from a mythological age. Crashing
together, the friction causes the huge clouds to glow eerily from the inside out. They quickly grew
angrier, launching their bolts of lightning toward earth. The air becomes thick with humidity and the
wind starts to blow. The ground trembles from the claps of thunder that echo past and reverberate back
off of the mountains; it s a deafening roar. Here in the Southwestern United States in late summer; the
days are brutally long, scorching hot, and the ground is cracked and dry. This is the monsoon season.
On a hot day, cooling off by the lake is what I like to do. It seems as though everyone else has the
same idea. The boaters are out in full force skimming along the water in their crafts. Families are
camped by the water s edge under tarps for shade. They mindfully watch their little ones play and
splash in the water. As the day wears on, the boaters leisurely find their way back to the launch ramps.
The families round up the kids, pack up their gear and head back to the homestead. Everything was
calm and tranquil, and the only sounds were the gentle waves breaking on the shore. Then a flash of
light catches my eye, I turn to look and I see a monster approaching.
Moments later, everything went silent and still. The birds are no longer singing their joyful song. The
lake became wave less and serene. I could feel the pressure of the atmosphere weighing down on me
like a heavy burden. This is what is called the calm before the storm. Like a whisper the wind gently
blew across my face and rustled my hair filling it with static electricity. Then the wind started its fury
the hot blowing sand stung as it hit my skin. It burned my eyes and filled my nose. I could taste the
grit in my mouth. The trees bent over without mercy and whiplashed back the other way. The lake
turned a dark electric green and the waves rolled violently with caps of white. And not too far off in
the distance, cells of rain kicked up the dust and made steam rise as the speeding rain reached the
parched ground. The sky grew black as the imposing clouds illuminated a glowing white. They were
filled with flashes of light that danced erratically

The Importance Of English As A Communication For Business...
Introduction
Last Night I was reading the newspaper while drinking some tea and eating a biscuit. The paper really
gave me insight into the tragic realities of the world. There are a plethora of countries that don t have
the opportunity to read Garfield because they cannot understand English. Due to this, English should
be the global lingua franca. It is assumed that wherever anyone goes in the world, someone will speak
some sort of English. It may be extremely choppy and broken but it is English nonetheless. English is
one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Many people speak it as a primary or
secondary language. In fact, an estimated 1 billion people speak English (PBS). There are two sides to
having English as the lingua franca of the world. On one side, there is easier communication for
business as well as innovation. On the contrary, the influence of English can destroy small languages
and cultures.
Background History
The English language can be divided into three main periods which consists of Old, Middle and
Modern English. Old English was mainly composed of the Germanic languages of the Angles, Jutes,
and Saxons all mixed together. In fact, Old English resembles modern German more than Modern
English. The Germanic people added words from Latin into the English language. People also put
words into more regular order. During the Middle age of English, French was prevalent because
England was conquered by Normandy. In this time period,

The Importance Of Oral Reading Assessment
Throughout this process of giving assessments, I came to the conclusion that some assessments are
more time efficient than others, while other assessments that take more time provide more useful
information that allow a teacher to provide individualized instruction for each student. The assessment
that took the most time was the Informal Phonics Survey, which required nearly twenty minutes for an
individual child to take the assessment; however, because of the time commitment for each individual
child, this assessment would not be an ideal source of information for an entire class. In contrast, the
DIBELS Oral Reading Fluency assessment only required ten minutes to assess an individual child,
and this assessment would be ideal for testing an entire class. I also realized that the Informal Phonics
Survey provides more detailed information than the DIBELS Oral Reading Fluency assessment does,
and although the IPS takes more time to administer, the information gives a teacher more insight into
the specific strengths and weaknesses of each child in their classroom by breaking the test into smaller
sections (letters, sounds, initial/final consonants, blends and digraphs, long and short vowels, closed
syllables, soft c/g generalization, open syllables, special vowels, syllabication, and common syllables).
This breakdown of the assessment allows the teacher to see the phonics skills each student is
struggling with and allows for individualized instruction. The DIBELS assessment,

History of Ballet Essay
The History of Ballet
The first experience of watching a ballet, for me or any little girl, can be fascinating and exhilarating.
Wondering how a dancer can be so steady on her toes as she spins in circles and leaps through the air.
Watching a ballet, there is a feeling of wanting to be graceful, as well as the warm sensation felt by a
little girl as she slips into dream land. My mom had taken me to my first ballet when I was 11 years
old. When we returned home home, she signed me up for classes at the local dance center. The
expectations to become a prima ballerina would involve much hard work and concentration. I knew
when I started it would take years of steady practice and commitment. Learning the history of ballet

The history of ballet dates back to the 18th century starting with Baroque dance. Fabritio Caroso da
Sermoneta was a famous Italian Renaissance dancing master. He was born around 1526 1535 and died
around 1605 1620. His dance manual quot;Ballarino quot; was published in 1581, with a subsequent
edition, significantly different, Nobiltà de dame, printed in 1600 and again after his death in 1630. In
the 19th century there was the pre romantic, romantic and the classical ballets. Anthony Tudor
deserves an honorable mention for his choreography and teaching. Pre romantic ballet occurred
sometime circa ?? up to 1831. The romantic period covered the early to mid 1800 s. This era also
introduced the calf length dress. A few of the great Romantic dancers were Marie Taglioni, Fanny
Elssler and Carlotta Grisi. The tequnique became more developed, but the role

My Last Day Of School
Summer The last day of school was a good day. Instead of having to take an ELAR exam, we did PSP.
On the last day I had ELAR for 4th and 5th period. I didn t have to do anything. Since we didn t have
to take a test we got to play games and mess around. The day went by really slow, but I was fine with
that. I was having fun messing around and playing board games with my friends. At last, I heard the
bell ring. I walked outside of the classroom and heard a lot of noise. Everyone was so excited that
school was over. People were chanting things such as, FREEDOM! FREEDOM! and SUMMER!
SUMMER! After school, I went to Top Golf with my friends. I had a blast and then went back to my
friends house and swam. The next day was my birthday party. My friend, Grant, and I have birthdays
around the same time, so we decided to have a birthday party together. I was turning 13 and Grant was
turning 14. I had my birthday party at a place called Group Dynamixs, it is a big indoor area where
you can play a ton of different games/sports and do indoor ropes courses. I had a lot of fun, but I was
super tired after. The next days of summer went by pretty slow which was good. It seemed like each
day was 48 hours. A month later, time started to go by a little bit faster. I felt like July decided to have
25 days instead of 31 days. I went to Austin, Texas from 7/1/17 to 7/6/17 which was fun. I go to a
place in Austin called Lakeway every year with my family. The hotel is on Lake

Primary diagnosis
Malignant neoplasm of head neck (ICD 10 CM C76.0) The head and neck cancers start in the mucosal
surfaces involving the squamous cells. The cancers are predominant in the mouth, nose and throat.
Some of the symptoms include lumps, sore throat, hoarse voice and trouble swallowing. It is noted
than head and neck cancers are more common in men that in women. Tobacco use, alcohol intake and
infection by human papilloma virus increase the risk of head and neck cancer (Woźniak et al., 2012).
Rationale: The patient has a history of head and neck cancer that has been managed for the last one
year and has had chemotherapy and radiotherapy for 6 weeks. There is a report of cancer
metastasizing indicating that it has not been treated yet. Being a male, the risk for this cancer,
considered he smoked until when diagnosed with the disorder, is high.

in a rape trial, the witness can not be cross examined while testifying. This bill was an important

The Plant Of A Pipeline
Introduction
Pigging is a critical activity in the commissioning and operation of a pipeline; oil, gas, water or
otherwise. For flow assurance the pipeline needs to be cleared of debris and checked for defects, tasks
pigs were designed for. The pig needs a method of entering and exiting the pipeline, so a mobile or
fixed launcher and receiver are utilised depending on the exact requirements.
Pig Launching and Receiving Basics
A pig launcher and receiver, also known as a pig trap, are equipment designed to pump in the pig
through the pipeline system and to retrieve the pig at the end of the operation. They can be mobile
(pigging of construction section) or fixed in the pipeline system. The location of the launcher is
located at the upstream end of the pipeline system, near the pump or compressor, while the receiver is
at the end of the system.
The launcher can be installed in a horizontal, vertical or inclined position. Most are installed
horizontally to ease the operation and it is therefore the most preferable. However, due to space limits,
vertical or incline pig traps are often considered. The launcher, receiver and all related equipment are
designed, manufactured and tested according to the pipeline and vessel code standards e.g.; NACE,
ASME VIII, BS 5500, ANSI, ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, etc.
A pig trap is essential to get a potential result of product saving. It means that there is no requirement
for adding an extensive line flushing as the pig cleaned out the

Factors That Influence Professional Practice When Working...
With the reference to at least two theories of learning, discuss how differing theoretical perspectives,
and our interpretation of these, might influence professional practice when working with children and
young people. There are many different ways in which children can learn, for instance, behaviourism,
cognitive learning theory, humanism, emotional literacy, brain based learning. These theories have an
impact on children s holistic development and professionals have to ensure they meet children s
physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. First the essay will focus on the
behaviourism theory and then cognitive learning theory and will outline the background and basics of
these theories and then the essay will look at how these theories can benefit and influence
professionals practice when working with children and young people in an infant school setting (aged
4 7). Professional practice is ensuring service, responsive to government and needs of public,
accountability, fairness and effectiveness these principles are fundamental to good professional
practice and inform us of the expectations. Early childhood educators are required to demonstrate an
understanding of children s development and the ways of learning and how to implement these
relevant theories into children s learning experience. Behaviourism is a theory of learning established
in the 1920 s to 1950 s and was founded by John B. Watson (1978 1958) based on the idea that

Essay on Reproductive and Therapeutic Cloning
There are two types of cloning, one of them is reproductive cloning which is when a whole organism
is cloned and therapeutic cloning is the cloning of cells, organs or tissues. Cloning is when two cells
decide or are forced to duplicate into two cells to replicate each other. Cloning can be done
deliberately or naturally; and it results in two copies having identical cells, DNA, genes, organs and
organisms. Cloning is a common, ongoing, debatable topic among society today. Many people argue
about how future scientific advances in cloning will affect society. Most often people dislike the idea
of cloning because it goes against their ethical beliefs, or because they are in fear of it ending up in the
wrong hands. But sometimes when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who do not have enough confidence in the matter might argue that someone could create super
soldiers for war, but with everything comes limitations and law. No matter how many laws are put into
place, there will always be people there to either abide by them or to break them. As long as the
limitations keep such horrible things from happening and there are officers and the government to aid,
then there is no issue.
Also, because there are many benefits to cloning and since not everyone believes in a god why should
religion be used in making decisions for people where religious morality is not even an issue? The
beliefs of some people should not deprive others of the benefits of cloning. There are those with
religious beliefs who think that taking antibiotics or receiving blood transfusions is wrong, but this
does not stop the rest of the world from receiving the benefits from them. Science is based on
experimentation and observation, while religion is based on faith and things that can not be proven.
Making a law based on a religious belief goes against our Constitution. A human clone is and should
be thought of as a regular human, they are entitled to have the same basic rights as everyone else.
Whether the government bans cloning or not, it is inevitably going to take place. The discovery has
been made and curious scientists are not just going to leave it alone. Decisions on

The Cyclical Teen Musical Film
The Cyclical Teen Musical Film Considered by Jane Feuer to be the only form of musical that retains
widespread popularity (123), the teen musical film is a cyclical sub genre of the musical film that
keeps coming back again and again since the 1960s, proving that it is a sub genre here to stay. And
since this is a cyclical sub genre, its historical development is also cyclical in matter: it develops
slightly throughout the cycle, as per many other film genres, but always seems to return back to its
original narrative structure and conventions, even through the stylistic and sociocultural changes
throughout the decades. Each time the teen musical film has come back into mainstream popularity,
the films are always characterized by their dual focus structure primarily a male female main character
pairing and the two thematic elements typical of youth films, as described by Timothy Shary: the
growing up theme, and a conformity/rebellion binary. The only changes are caused by sociocultural
means, including, but not limited to, the Rock n Roll musicals of the 70 s, the Punk musicals
beginning in the late 70 s, and the female centered narratives of the 80s. Ever since the introduction of
sound in the late 1920s and 1930s, the film musical has been a prominent genre. However, up until the
end of the Golden Age of the film musical, the majority of these musical films produced were geared
towards an adult audience to help raise morale during the depression, World War I, and

Mind Brain By John Searle Summary
In his essay, Minds, Brains, and Computers, John Searle attempts to prove that Strong AI does not
exist. He still believes that there is some merit to weak AI, as a means for understanding how certain
elements of the brain function, but using computers as a way of not only mimicking the brain but
actually being a mind. The most concrete example that Searle used in support of his claim was that
computers cannot understand, and he demonstrated this through the Chinese Room experiment. In the
Chinese Room Experiment, a person can functionally answer questions in a language that they do not
understand, as long as they are given the tools to match certain words to words that they understand in

that they score higher test scores is caused by the academy has a deeper curriculum. This explains why
they hold greater test scores since they are focusing a greater narrow path, not a broad path like public

Essay on Liberal Media Bias in the United States
People rely on journalist to report factual news and to make political points in helping the American
citizen in making their decision when it comes time to vote. Since American s do not have time to
research every side to all the stories that have been published, they count on the media to portray both
sides. However, you cannot believe everything that the media reports. If you were to pay attention to
the reports given by journalists, you will find that they report on the stories that they feel they want to
get out. And when it comes to politics, they have a way of leaning more towards a democratic view.
The American media has a way of portraying the news in a bias way, which has been studied,

Many journalists are predominately liberal and are considered more liberal that the general public.
They have a way of manipulating news to help Democrats and the liberal agenda. Strong
conservatives and Republicans are more likely to distrust the media news (Lee Tien Tsung). Although
the media deny being bias, there are ways to prove that it does exist without the proof of studies and
research. When journalist only report from one side of the story and use phrases from witnesses or
experts from the one side that they are reporting on, media bias is presented. If the journalist fails to
report on the conservative side of the story, or the conservative part is either barely mentioned or
comes at the end of the story instead of mentioning it during the liberal view, this is another example.
Another way to identify this type of reporting would be looking for the journalist to put a spin on the
story. This happens when journalist make one side of the story more appealing than the other. (Baker)
Since the general public is able to spot bias in the media, they no longer trust the news. Back in 2001,
when four major networks starting running evening news broadcasting, the ratings had dropped
significantly (Alterman 7). Other means of bias stories in the media have been proven with the help of
studies, research, and by taking polls and surveying the general public. Surveys can be insightful to
see how the public views things. Many journalists take a

Comparison Of Heroism In El Dorado
When one thinks of heroism, they tend to think of great acts of bravery, such as when someone goes
into battle against a beast and when it prevents some type of catastrophic tragedy from occurring. At
least that is what one tends to think of when referring to the act of heroism in literature. However,
there is also a different, less glorified version of heroism that is sometimes expressed in literature, but
is present in our daily lives. This form of heroism is deeply connected to the human experience in
accomplishing a life s purpose. Edgar Alan Poe s El Dorado shows a speaker who views a challenge
and makes it his life mission to go after this accolade no matter what the odds are. While, a poem
called The Lotus Eaters by Alfred Lord Tennyson shows the direct opposite in our human nature
depicting a story of those who rather settle for comfort. One is focused on the optimistic possibility of
the risk they are taking and the other is focused on the pessimistic possibility as to why they rather not
take the risk. When analyzing the psychology behind heroism, the key difference is that the knight in
Edgar Alan Poe s poem was optimistic about becoming a hero, while in Alfred Lord Tennyson s poem
the sailors completely eliminated that from being an option. Those who are optimistic about achieving
a goal have at least a chance at reaching that point, however those who are pessimistic only find
themselves with one outcome and can never reach the ultimate goal. The

respiratory therapists comes in. Job Description Respiratory therapists eat, sleep, and work mainly in
hospitals. It is common to work in nursing homes or even travel to patients homes. From the time
babies are born to the adults reaching old age, they assist anyone who has breathing difficulties.
Typically, RT s interview/examine patients, perform diagnostic tests, treat patients, monitor/record the
progress of treatment and teach patients how to use treatments ( Occupational Outlook Handbook ).
The environment in which they work in is extremely clean to prevent patients from catching bugs that
can put their health in more danger. Though the salary ranges from state to state, Indiana s respiratory
therapists are able to make around $50,000 a year ( Occupational Outlook Handbook ). Depending on
the shifts that are worked, therapists can make a bit more by working on holidays and even night shifts
since hospitals are always open. Qualifications The more education experienced, the greater chance
applicants will successfully obtain the job of a respiratory therapist. At minimum, an associate s
degree is needed. Many colleges and universities, vocational technical institutes, and the Armed
Forces offer training most

Argumentative Essay On Blackfish
The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than
black people were made for whites, or women created for men (Walker).
Blackfish: Going Beneath the Surface
The idea of animals being under the dictation of humans is morally wrong. Animals are not to be kept
in captivity for whatever reason it may be. Animals should have the free will to just be and do as they
were intended to just be and do. According to PETA the world s largest animal rights organization a
study conducted shares that Animals who would shun contact with humans in nature have no way to
escape routine contact with them. Many develop neurotic and self harming behavior (called
stereotypies or zoochosis ) that are rarely, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, throughout the past few decades, the once seemingly acceptable domestication of killer
whales, moving them from their wild habit of the open ocean to the man made environment of small
concrete pools, seems to have raised some controversial discussion from people of every spectrum.
This very distinct species of whales are shown to be extremely kind and gentle creatures, not vicious
and bloodthirsty as some might think. Many people doubt these studies based on the account of all the
injury and fatality claims SeaWorld and other aquatic theme parks have faced throughout their years in
business. Nevertheless, the idea that all orca whales are aggressive was disputed in a certain scene
where Howard Garrett, an orca whale researcher, is interviewed. This scene, while shocking to some
viewers, supports part of the producers purpose of the film: And to this day there is no record of any
orca doing any harm to any human in the wild (Blackfish). To even further this note, footage shown in
the film depicted vacationers being visited by these friendly creatures as if they were wanting to be
petted, just as if dog were to run up to a stranger in hopes for affection. For someone to say that killer
whales are cruel is

Contemporary Sociological Theory Final Exam
Contemporary Sociological Theory Final Exam
Section I, Question 1: In Shearing and Stenning s From the Panopticon to Disney World, the world
renowned fantasy amusement park is revealed to be a compelling embodiment of Michel Foucault s
ideas regarding the disciplinary society. In Foucault s writings on the prison panopticon his idea of a
perfected disciplinary institution of a disciplinary society Foucault describes how inmates (or Disney s
guests) behavior and movements is overseen and tightly controlled (Dillon, p. 371). This level of
control is clear from the moment you enter Disney: barriers, guardrails, and directions guide you to
preordained locations, and Disney employees and rides reinforce those restrictions and guidances at
numerous points throughout your visit (Shearing, p. 301 302). More significantly, in the panopticon
design, inmates are always under surveillance. Further, inmates are aware they are always under
surveillance even if they cannot see their supervisor so that they begin monitoring their own actions to
conform with rules and restrictions (Dillon, p. 371). At Disney, once a guest breaks the rules or
regulations, they quickly become aware that they are being surveilled. Park employees in unassuming
costumes seemingly unrelated to security or rule enforcement are trained to enforce rules and hold
guests accountable as soon as they act out of line, making clear to guests that they are always being
surveilled even if they cannot see the supervisors

A Text Message From My Life
One dark stormy night I got a text message from my boyfriend saying get dress we going out. When
he arrived at my house we went to dinner and then back at his house. As we was sitting on the sofa,
we was talking about how each other day went until his phone goes off and then he starts replying
back to text message. I kept talking to him and he wasn t paying me no mind so then I sent him a text
while he was sitting a couple inches from me to get his attention. It s likely you ve done this, too.
Then he looked at me because he knew I was mad by my facial expression, so he put his phone away
in his pocket. When a person is spending alone time with their mate or just anyone in general it s a
place when one gets to enjoy ones company, not a place where one get to enjoy what s going on ones
side of the phone. This illustrates that there is little empathy towards people if they can t even get a
face to face conversation with each other for a couple hours without one person looking at their phone.
Nobody should have to send a text message to get ones attention or make them feel empathy towards
them.
Technology has become an important part of our daily lives and is gradually affecting the way we feel
for others. As the years go on, it becomes faster, smaller. Everywhere we go we see technology or
someone using it and many people would say it s a second you. Technology has made as lazy and self
aware of the world around us. We re missing out on the important conversation with others

Bodies and Minds
How do our bodies and minds change from early to late adulthood?
Joshua Lansberry

PSY 304 Lifespan Development
Prof. Pamela Vincent
May 18, 2015
How do our bodies and minds change from early to late adulthood?
As we age does our mind simply begin to deteriorate in the same fashion as our body does in regards
to it physical capabilities? Have you wondered what affect does peri and post menopause have in
relation to memory decline in women? Is dementia directly related to cognitive aging? All of these
conditions have one thing in common, they all occur as the human body starts to age into late
adulthood. Aging from early to late adulthood has an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the body ages into middle adulthood which is forties to sixties other physical changes take place.
Physical change become noticeable, disease becomes more prevalent, reaction time slows, eyesight
diminishes, height begins to slowly decline, and menopause occurs in women and the male
reproductive system starts to slowly change. In late adulthood which is sixties and beyond, height
continues to decline, the senses continue their gradual decline and become more noticeable, bone
diseases, cancer, cardiovascular diseases become prevalent and dementia eventually affects a large
proportion of adults. Under normal conditions a person cannot be prevented from experiencing
predetermined physical changes (Mossler, 2013). Another aspect that changes with aging is cognitive
development.
Cognitive development is a broad domain that refers to the development of the mind. Cognitive
processes are connected to the growth and decline of memory. Cognition includes the basics of how
we learn, make decisions and use language. Mental cognitive development is effected by age as well.
One of the reasons many think all older people are in rapid decline is due to the availability heuristic.
The availability heuristic is a mental shortcut that causes people to make quick, incorrect judgments
based on limited information. Older people in decline get more attention than those who are
independent, so the available information

Devdas Metaphor Essay
Devdas as the word comes to mind it conjures up the visage of a haggard, world weary, lovelorn soul,
driving himself to drink and hurtling on relentlessly on the path to self destruction. The Devdas
Metaphor , a time honoured, enduring tragic symbol of unfulfilled love, has captivated readers and
film going audiences for the better part of a century now. Devdas has several adaptations and
translations and therefore it is good to look at the specific ways in which the Devdas metaphor has
engaged our imagination over several generations. Saratchandra Chattopadhyay s Devdas was
published in Bengali in 1917. It was also a time when the forty year old writer has just experienced his
meteoric rise to fame. Saratchandra Chattopadhyay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fermentation is undoubtedly the most important stage to achieve the taste of the beer, because while
sugar transformation into alcohol and carbonic gas takes place, yeast produces other substances in
very small quantities, which are responsible for the aroma and flavor of the beer. The development of
chemical analysis procedures that took place during recent years allowed a more comprehensive
understanding about beer composition. It is therefore during the fermentation process that the beer
style is created. This process normally will take a month.
These two steps are shown by figure 1.
Figure 1
The packaging process occurs after the fermentation. The beer flows to the keg, canning, and bottling
lines when it our of the government cellar. There are five canning lines, three bottling lines, and a keg
line can be run in the Winston Salem brewery. The capacity for can lines is 1300 cans per minute, for
bottle lines is 900 bottles per minute, and for keg line is 340 half barrels per hour. For the five can
lines, all the brands of beer can be canned at the same time, or one brand of beer can be canned with
two different types at the same time. For three bottle lines, different bottle shapes and sizes can be
filled at the same time, and new bottles and returnable bottles can be separated when filling and
packaging. The packaging process also can be divided into two steps: 1. filling and capping and 2.
pasteurizing. The packaging will

  • 4. The Human Good Analysis When a person is treated as a disease rather than an actual human being, it exposes a symptom of an even bigger illness within our own society. The LGBTQ+ community has become more accepted in modern times, however, there s is still hate, and stereotyping that dwells within. Often, when a person comes out they are met with the bright light of self acceptance, but also, they must now face possible danger from others who cannot accept them, especially in the workplace. A person should not have to face discrimination from the workplace from the people they serve due to sexual orientation, society must learn how to overcome their hate and instead value the person for who they are and not for whom they love. I will dive into a case of discrimination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The easier said than done act to stand up against the discriminator is often never done. In this case, no one stood up for Jimenez, not even Jimenez herself. When I say to stand up against, I don t mean to yell, overreact, or use that as a reason to discriminate others. To me, to stand up against discrimination is to inform the discriminator that their actions are discriminatory and instead ask them why they are stating such statements. I feel that opens a conversation, and helps to get to the root of why he or she feels that way, which in turn helps to educate. The great philosopher Rumi, was tolerant of people from other cultures because he traveled and was able to learn about these different cultures, customs, and people. He preferred to learn than to judge. Education is such an important aspect in the progression against discrimination, and we should model ourselves to learn rather than judge, like Rumi. As Rumi states, If you are irritated by every rub, how will you be polished? (Rad, 2010). I interpret this as if a person is not willing to learn, how will you ever grow? If that man would have been able to try to learn about my friend and about homosexuality, maybe he would have gotten a lot closer towards being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Current Idea Of Intelligence Paper 1 Intelligence has been identified in many different ways throughout history and varies between different cultures. The current idea of intelligence consists of intangible properties that include, but are not limited to, knowledge based thinking, apprehending, adaptive purposeful striving, fluid analytic reasoning, mental playfulness, and idiosyncratic learning (Krishnamurthy, 2015). Progression of Intelligence Testing Through the Ages The notion that Caucasians were superior to other races (e.g., African Americans, Native Americans, etc.) was a well accepted notion that preceded, and even influenced, early intelligence testing (Gould, 1996). Research conducted by Samuel Morton on human skulls began in the 1820 s attempted to set up a scientifically based racial ranking system of intelligence through the use of Craniometry. However, Morton s research was heavily biased, although it appeared his biases were unintentional and lacked conscious manipulation (p. 101). Even though data from Morton s research acknowledged that brain size was relative to body size, he failed to correct for differences in sex or body size (p. 94). Morton also made errors that favored his prejudices which included inaccurate measurements (e.g., unequal rounding cranial circumference measurements, over packing skulls) and sampling biases (e.g., including unequal female to male ratios in particular samples, over representing certain groups samples) (p. 86 101). Furthermore, scientists such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A part of me believes they were put up in my honor. • 8. Analysis Of The 17th And 17th Centuries By Ben Jonson Plagiarism in the 17th and 18th Centuries A line that appears on the cover page of Poetaster: A Comical Satyr, written in 1601 by Ben Jonson (1572 1637), the English dramatist and poet, had appeared earlier in Martial s Book VII, Verse 12, an epigram consisting of 99 verses. We know that Jonson used ideas taken from Ovid (Publius Ovidius Naso, 43 BCE CE 17), Horace, and Seneca and that his name appears in investigations of plagiarism in English literature. According to one source, Jonson invented the pejorative term playwright in 1687 to describe someone who had put together the work of others. Jonson alluded to the works of Horace and Virgil and to Rome. Jonson wrote that the name Canidia was but a borrowed name and that the ditty was borrowed. The words were Horace s, he stated, Hang him plagiary. This use of the term plagiary appeared in 1601. It referred to someone who forcefully possessed another. It had appeared earlier, in 1555, as plagiaire (French), and, in 1577, as plagium (Latin), translated as a net to entangle game, but was used in English Civil Law when referring to kidnapping or man stealing. It appeared also in July 1607, when Thomas Legge, Master of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, referred to the fact that someone had kidnapped his ideas for a play, The Destruction of Jerusalem. The use of Latin or French was common among the educated and upper classes of that time, many of whom would have been familiar with one or both languages. Alexander Pope ... • 9. Analysis Of Samuel Taylor Coleridge s Kubla Khan Experts widely regard Samuel Taylor Coleridge as one of the few major leaders of British Romanticism. His poems, both individual works and collaborations with another Romantic leader, William Wordsworth, are proof of this. His works incorporated ideas that are often found in Romantic poetry, such as a reverence for nature, emphasis on emotion and imagination over reason and logic, and other themes that contradicted thinkers of the Age of Reason. Coleridge assisted in the change from Enlightenment ideals favoring rationality and deduction to a thinking with your heart style. Coleridge had a strange childhood as the last of ten children and largely isolated from the world, and therefore had few companions other than the books he so loved to read. This exposed him to the ideas that eventually made him into the renowned Romantic poet readers view him as today. Coleridge s upbringing in 18th century England and close association with other poets, including the co authoring of Lyrical Ballads with William Wordsworth, helped form his worldview and poetic style, evidenced in his poem Kubla Khan, which in turn shaped English Romanticism and the way readers would look at poetry forever. One of the largest influences on Coleridge was his unusual adolescence and the people he met, as a child and later on. It is said best as, For Coleridge, childhood is the shaper of adult destiny (Gradesaver). The youngest child of ten, he had his father die when he was not even nine years ... What do I aspire to do in my stewardship? Connective tissue holds all the body s cells, organs and tissue together. It also plays an important role in helping the body grow and develop properly. About 1 in 5,000 people have Marfan syndrome, including men and women of all races and ethnic groups. There is no cure for Marfan syndrome. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People with Marfan syndrome are born with it, but features of the disorder are not always present right away. Some people have a lot of Marfan features at birth or as young children including serious conditions like aortic enlargement. Others have fewer features when they are young and don t develop aortic enlargement or other signs of Marfan syndrome until they are adults. Some features of Marfan syndrome, like those affecting the heart and blood vessels, bones or joints, can get worse over time. This makes it very important for people with Marfan syndrome and related disorders to receive accurate, early diagnosis and treatment. Without it, they can be at risk for potentially life threatening complications. The earlier some treatments are started, the better the outcomes are likely to be. • 21. Descriptive Essay On A Rainy Season Cumulus clouds gather in the east and stand towering like pillars from a mythological age. Crashing together, the friction causes the huge clouds to glow eerily from the inside out. They quickly grew angrier, launching their bolts of lightning toward earth. The air becomes thick with humidity and the wind starts to blow. The ground trembles from the claps of thunder that echo past and reverberate back off of the mountains; it s a deafening roar. Here in the Southwestern United States in late summer; the days are brutally long, scorching hot, and the ground is cracked and dry. This is the monsoon season. On a hot day, cooling off by the lake is what I like to do. It seems as though everyone else has the same idea. The boaters are out in full force skimming along the water in their crafts. Families are camped by the water s edge under tarps for shade. They mindfully watch their little ones play and splash in the water. As the day wears on, the boaters leisurely find their way back to the launch ramps. The families round up the kids, pack up their gear and head back to the homestead. Everything was calm and tranquil, and the only sounds were the gentle waves breaking on the shore. Then a flash of light catches my eye, I turn to look and I see a monster approaching. Moments later, everything went silent and still. The birds are no longer singing their joyful song. The lake became wave less and serene. I could feel the pressure of the atmosphere weighing down on me like a heavy burden. This is what is called the calm before the storm. Like a whisper the wind gently blew across my face and rustled my hair filling it with static electricity. Then the wind started its fury the hot blowing sand stung as it hit my skin. It burned my eyes and filled my nose. I could taste the grit in my mouth. The trees bent over without mercy and whiplashed back the other way. The lake turned a dark electric green and the waves rolled violently with caps of white. And not too far off in the distance, cells of rain kicked up the dust and made steam rise as the speeding rain reached the parched ground. The sky grew black as the imposing clouds illuminated a glowing white. They were filled with flashes of light that danced erratically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. The Importance Of English As A Communication For Business... Introduction Last Night I was reading the newspaper while drinking some tea and eating a biscuit. The paper really gave me insight into the tragic realities of the world. There are a plethora of countries that don t have the opportunity to read Garfield because they cannot understand English. Due to this, English should be the global lingua franca. It is assumed that wherever anyone goes in the world, someone will speak some sort of English. It may be extremely choppy and broken but it is English nonetheless. English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Many people speak it as a primary or secondary language. In fact, an estimated 1 billion people speak English (PBS). There are two sides to having English as the lingua franca of the world. On one side, there is easier communication for business as well as innovation. On the contrary, the influence of English can destroy small languages and cultures. Background History The English language can be divided into three main periods which consists of Old, Middle and Modern English. Old English was mainly composed of the Germanic languages of the Angles, Jutes, and Saxons all mixed together. In fact, Old English resembles modern German more than Modern English. The Germanic people added words from Latin into the English language. People also put words into more regular order. During the Middle age of English, French was prevalent because England was conquered by Normandy. In this time period, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. The Importance Of Oral Reading Assessment Throughout this process of giving assessments, I came to the conclusion that some assessments are more time efficient than others, while other assessments that take more time provide more useful information that allow a teacher to provide individualized instruction for each student. The assessment that took the most time was the Informal Phonics Survey, which required nearly twenty minutes for an individual child to take the assessment; however, because of the time commitment for each individual child, this assessment would not be an ideal source of information for an entire class. In contrast, the DIBELS Oral Reading Fluency assessment only required ten minutes to assess an individual child, and this assessment would be ideal for testing an entire class. I also realized that the Informal Phonics Survey provides more detailed information than the DIBELS Oral Reading Fluency assessment does, and although the IPS takes more time to administer, the information gives a teacher more insight into the specific strengths and weaknesses of each child in their classroom by breaking the test into smaller sections (letters, sounds, initial/final consonants, blends and digraphs, long and short vowels, closed syllables, soft c/g generalization, open syllables, special vowels, syllabication, and common syllables). This breakdown of the assessment allows the teacher to see the phonics skills each student is struggling with and allows for individualized instruction. The DIBELS assessment, ... • 29. The Plant Of A Pipeline Introduction Pigging is a critical activity in the commissioning and operation of a pipeline; oil, gas, water or otherwise. For flow assurance the pipeline needs to be cleared of debris and checked for defects, tasks pigs were designed for. The pig needs a method of entering and exiting the pipeline, so a mobile or fixed launcher and receiver are utilised depending on the exact requirements. Pig Launching and Receiving Basics A pig launcher and receiver, also known as a pig trap, are equipment designed to pump in the pig through the pipeline system and to retrieve the pig at the end of the operation. They can be mobile (pigging of construction section) or fixed in the pipeline system. The location of the launcher is located at the upstream end of the pipeline system, near the pump or compressor, while the receiver is at the end of the system. The launcher can be installed in a horizontal, vertical or inclined position. Most are installed horizontally to ease the operation and it is therefore the most preferable. However, due to space limits, vertical or incline pig traps are often considered. The launcher, receiver and all related equipment are designed, manufactured and tested according to the pipeline and vessel code standards e.g.; NACE, ASME VIII, BS 5500, ANSI, ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, etc. A pig trap is essential to get a potential result of product saving. These theories have an impact on children s holistic development and professionals have to ensure they meet children s physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. Also, because there are many benefits to cloning and since not everyone believes in a god why should religion be used in making decisions for people where religious morality is not even an issue? The beliefs of some people should not deprive others of the benefits of cloning. • 32. The Cyclical Teen Musical Film The Cyclical Teen Musical Film Considered by Jane Feuer to be the only form of musical that retains widespread popularity (123), the teen musical film is a cyclical sub genre of the musical film that keeps coming back again and again since the 1960s, proving that it is a sub genre here to stay. And since this is a cyclical sub genre, its historical development is also cyclical in matter: it develops slightly throughout the cycle, as per many other film genres, but always seems to return back to its original narrative structure and conventions, even through the stylistic and sociocultural changes throughout the decades. Each time the teen musical film has come back into mainstream popularity, the films are always characterized by their dual focus structure primarily a male female main character pairing and the two thematic elements typical of youth films, as described by Timothy Shary: the growing up theme, and a conformity/rebellion binary. The only changes are caused by sociocultural means, including, but not limited to, the Rock n Roll musicals of the 70 s, the Punk musicals beginning in the late 70 s, and the female centered narratives of the 80s. Ever since the introduction of sound in the late 1920s and 1930s, the film musical has been a prominent genre. When journalist only report from one side of the story and use phrases from witnesses or experts from the one side that they are reporting on, media bias is presented. If the journalist fails to report on the conservative side of the story, or the conservative part is either barely mentioned or comes at the end of the story instead of mentioning it during the liberal view, this is another example. A few months before the Fort Hood shooting Hasan, was promoted to Major and he was transferred to the U.S. Army base in Fort Hood, Texas. The Group Responsible for the Attack It is still undetermined if Al Qaeda was directly responsible to the Fort Hood Shooting. It is known that Hasan was in contact with Anwar al Awlaki, a known Al Qaeda supporter/member for months before the Fort Hood attack. The FBI Agents in San Diego had been investigating Awlaki, a former San Diego resident, for his possible connections to the 9/11 hijackers. During their investigation is when agents discovered the emails that Hasan had sent Awlaki (http://abcnews.go.com). Although Russia formally denied any military involvement in Ukraine, soldiers in unmarked Russian fatigues entering the Crimean peninsula and the accidental placement of artillery pieces beyond the Russo Ukrainian border didn t make it very hard to figure out who was responsible for the invasion of Crimea. Everyone s theories were proven true when Russian President Vladimir Putin officially announced that the Russian Federation was annexing the Crimean Peninsula from the Ukrainian government. In this paper, I will discuss the Russian military involvement in Ukraine and the actions taken by the United States and Canada in response to these activities from the perspective of Mearsheimer s five tenets of offensive neorealism. Protests and violence continue until mid February, when the leaders of both the government and the opposition agreed to create a new government, resulting in the diminishing of Yanukovich s powers and his escaping out of Kiev when the protesters took control of the city and the former Prime Minister, Yulia Tymoshenko, is installed as the interim leader. After these events, Aleksey Chaly, a pro Russian leader, was elected as the new mayor of Sevastopol and supporters of the Russian Federation began to take control of buildings around the Crimean Peninsula and set in motion movements for Crimean separation. On February 28th, men in unmarked fatigues took control of the Simferopol airport and a Military airfield near Sevastopol, following which, the Russian government claimed that these military actions were in order to protect their fleet in the Black Sea. In March, Russian troops continued to spread across Crimea and the Crimean Parliament declared their wishes to join with Russia. At this time, the EU and the US gave their support to the Ukrainian government by creating trade agreements and rejecting the Crimean Referendum. On March 13th, the Ukrainian Parliament voted to create a national guard of 60,000 men that was whole heartedly supported by the United Nations. • 42. Comparison Of Heroism In El Dorado When one thinks of heroism, they tend to think of great acts of bravery, such as when someone goes into battle against a beast and when it prevents some type of catastrophic tragedy from occurring. At least that is what one tends to think of when referring to the act of heroism in literature. However, there is also a different, less glorified version of heroism that is sometimes expressed in literature, but is present in our daily lives. This form of heroism is deeply connected to the human experience in accomplishing a life s purpose. Edgar Alan Poe s El Dorado shows a speaker who views a challenge and makes it his life mission to go after this accolade no matter what the odds are. While, a poem called The Lotus Eaters by Alfred Lord Tennyson shows the direct opposite in our human nature depicting a story of those who rather settle for comfort. One is focused on the optimistic possibility of the risk they are taking and the other is focused on the pessimistic possibility as to why they rather not take the risk. When analyzing the psychology behind heroism, the key difference is that the knight in Edgar Alan Poe s poem was optimistic about becoming a hero, while in Alfred Lord Tennyson s poem the sailors completely eliminated that from being an option. Those who are optimistic about achieving a goal have at least a chance at reaching that point, however those who are pessimistic only find themselves with one outcome and can never reach the ultimate goal. Ferguson starts with an attempt to answer the questions; what is money, how is it used, and how has it evolved over time? He argues that the evolution of credit and debt is as important as technological innovation. The specific interest to military leaders is how money, or the lack there of, played pivotal roles throughout history. Money to generals is the sinews of war .1 Niall Ferguson is well qualified to discuss this as a renowned British historian and professor of history at Harvard University. • 44. Respiratory Therapy Essay The Path of Respiratory Therapy Introduction About a year ago, I came home from work one night and walked into the kitchen to where my mother was standing. There was a feeling of uneasiness and the panic began to clench my stomach. She looked so sad, so stressed; maybe it was the frizzy hair, the bags beneath her eyes, the way her back slouched in a low negative curve, or her eyes. Her eyes looked at me before she turned them away, but in that fragment of a second, it s almost like I could look inside her narrow eyes and search until I would come upon this thing. This thing has no name, but it scares her. She wouldn t exactly explain to me what it was but I felt the sudden movements of uncertainty with the way she shifted her body and ... They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for whites, or women created for men (Walker). Blackfish: Going Beneath the Surface The idea of animals being under the dictation of humans is morally wrong. Animals are not to be kept in captivity for whatever reason it may be. Animals should have the free will to just be and do as they were intended to just be and do. Specifically, throughout the past few decades, the once seemingly acceptable domestication of killer whales, moving them from their wild habit of the open ocean to the man made environment of small concrete pools, seems to have raised some controversial discussion from people of every spectrum. This very distinct species of whales are shown to be extremely kind and gentle creatures, not vicious and bloodthirsty as some might think. Many people doubt these studies based on the account of all the injury and fatality claims SeaWorld and other aquatic theme parks have faced throughout their years in business. Nevertheless, the idea that all orca whales are aggressive was disputed in a certain scene where Howard Garrett, an orca whale researcher, is interviewed. This scene, while shocking to some viewers, supports part of the producers purpose of the film: And to this day there is no record of any orca doing any harm to any human in the wild (Blackfish). • 46. Contemporary Sociological Theory Final Exam Contemporary Sociological Theory Final Exam Section I, Question 1: In Shearing and Stenning s From the Panopticon to Disney World, the world renowned fantasy amusement park is revealed to be a compelling embodiment of Michel Foucault s ideas regarding the disciplinary society. In Foucault s writings on the prison panopticon his idea of a perfected disciplinary institution of a disciplinary society Foucault describes how inmates (or Disney s guests) behavior and movements is overseen and tightly controlled (Dillon, p. 371). This level of control is clear from the moment you enter Disney: barriers, guardrails, and directions guide you to preordained locations, and Disney employees and rides reinforce those restrictions and guidances at numerous points throughout your visit (Shearing, p. 301 302). More significantly, in the panopticon design, inmates are always under surveillance. Further, inmates are aware they are always under surveillance even if they cannot see their supervisor so that they begin monitoring their own actions to conform with rules and restrictions (Dillon, p. 371). At Disney, once a guest breaks the rules or regulations, they quickly become aware that they are being surveilled. Park employees in unassuming costumes seemingly unrelated to security or rule enforcement are trained to enforce rules and hold guests accountable as soon as they act out of line, making clear to guests that they are always being surveilled even if they cannot see the supervisors ... • 47. A Text Message From My Life One dark stormy night I got a text message from my boyfriend saying get dress we going out. When he arrived at my house we went to dinner and then back at his house. As we was sitting on the sofa, we was talking about how each other day went until his phone goes off and then he starts replying back to text message. I kept talking to him and he wasn t paying me no mind so then I sent him a text while he was sitting a couple inches from me to get his attention. It s likely you ve done this, too. Then he looked at me because he knew I was mad by my facial expression, so he put his phone away in his pocket. When a person is spending alone time with their mate or just anyone in general it s a place when one gets to enjoy ones company, not a place where one get to enjoy what s going on ones side of the phone. This illustrates that there is little empathy towards people if they can t even get a face to face conversation with each other for a couple hours without one person looking at their phone. Nobody should have to send a text message to get ones attention or make them feel empathy towards them. Joshua Lansberry Ashford University PSY 304 Lifespan Development Prof. Pamela Vincent May 18, 2015 How do our bodies and minds change from early to late adulthood? As we age does our mind simply begin to deteriorate in the same fashion as our body does in regards to it physical capabilities? Have you wondered what affect does peri and post menopause have in relation to memory decline in women? Is dementia directly related to cognitive aging? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the body ages into middle adulthood which is forties to sixties other physical changes take place. Physical change become noticeable, disease becomes more prevalent, reaction time slows, eyesight diminishes, height begins to slowly decline, and menopause occurs in women and the male reproductive system starts to slowly change. In late adulthood which is sixties and beyond, height continues to decline, the senses continue their gradual decline and become more noticeable, bone diseases, cancer, cardiovascular diseases become prevalent and dementia eventually affects a large proportion of adults. Under normal conditions a person cannot be prevented from experiencing predetermined physical changes (Mossler, 2013). Another aspect that changes with aging is cognitive development. Cognitive development is a broad domain that refers to the development of the mind. Cognitive processes are connected to the growth and decline of memory. Cognition includes the basics of how we learn, make decisions and use language. Mental cognitive development is effected by age as well. One of the reasons many think all older people are in rapid decline is due to the availability heuristic. The availability heuristic is a mental shortcut that causes people to make quick, incorrect judgments based on limited information. Older people in decline get more attention than those who are independent, so the available information ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fermentation is undoubtedly the most important stage to achieve the taste of the beer, because while sugar transformation into alcohol and carbonic gas takes place, yeast produces other substances in very small quantities, which are responsible for the aroma and flavor of the beer. The development of chemical analysis procedures that took place during recent years allowed a more comprehensive understanding about beer composition. It is therefore during the fermentation process that the beer style is created. This process normally will take a month. These two steps are shown by figure 1. Figure 1 The packaging process occurs after the fermentation. The beer flows to the keg, canning, and bottling lines when it our of the government cellar. There are five canning lines, three bottling lines, and a keg line can be run in the Winston Salem brewery. The capacity for can lines is 1300 cans per minute, for bottle lines is 900 bottles per minute, and for keg line is 340 half barrels per hour. For the five can lines, all the brands of beer can be canned at the same time, or one brand of beer can be canned with two different types at the same time. For three bottle lines, different bottle shapes and sizes can be filled at the same time, and new bottles and returnable bottles can be separated when filling and packaging.
