My Career As A Purpose Of A Zoologist
The career I am pursing is Zoology, which requires a degree in Biology. I chose this career due to
my passionate interest in wildlife and my personal character. I have not chosen what career branch
I would like to partake in because of the numerous options. But that requires additional research
that will be sought out during the upcoming years of college. A Zoologist is a person who studies
wildlife, the habitat of wildlife and how animals adapt to it. In addition, they also study the
behavior of animals, animal characteristics, and how they react to human activity. The purpose of a
Zoologist is to experiment, researchand study animals. This could mean in the wild itself or in a
controlled area. Overall, Zoologist overlook the large picture of animal communities and how
specieswork in life. The skills you need to become a well practiced zoologist are traits I have
found in myself. Of course, the interest of researching animas is the most important. But you
also need communication skills, a strong logical problem solving approach, keen observation
skills, and can independently or as a team. Majority of those skills I possess but could continue
to improve on. The profession appeals to me because of my love for animals mostly. I have been
interested in animals as a young child and I actually prefer animals over people. I m caring
enough to dedicate my time when I m older to wildlife and wildlife projects. What else interests me
about animals is how they

An Evaluation Of An Anterior Cruciate Ligament ( Acl ) Tear
An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear occurs in one of the knee ligaments that join the bones of
the upper and lower leg, keeping the knee stable. After reconstructive surgery patients need
extensive rehabilitation and healing time before even considering any physical activity. ACL
reconstructions are common amongst people, it has been difficult for surgeons and physicians to
come to an agreement on rehabilitation regarding these patients returning back to health. Many
physicians are trying to come to a consensus as to what rehabilitation criteria is necessary and what
will most benefit their patients, providing them with a quick, yet efficient recovery. The objective
in question, is whether an accelerated approach is more efficient than the traditional rehabilitation
techniques. Using an accelerated program has show developmental progress with extreme
improvement in flexion of the knee, while bypassing a traditional approaches time span of recovery.
As far as traditional rehabilitation goes, studies have shown that there is a significant decrease in re
ingury of the knee. Observed in theses four articles, is randomized test that concise a professional
opinion on what program physicians find more effective. In support of Preventing re injury after

The Pros And Cons Of A Hero
Superman, Batman, Ironman, Hulk, Thor, etc. These superheroes were all heroes in the world
with a superpower; however, in reality a hero is much more than having an amazing superpower.
All people have the potential to become a hero, and the traits and actions that make up a hero
are inside each and every one of us. Heroes are all around us in both the modern and past world.
These heroes are created in many ways, but it doesn t take a risky moment, or it doesn t take
saving the world to be a hero. A hero isn t always the strongest human being that risks their life, a
hero is someone who makes a positive impact in someone else s life and overcomes challenges.
To begin, Bob Riley said, Hard times don t create heroes. It is during the hard times when the
hero within us is revealed. This quote proves how a hero faces hard times, and a hero defeats
these obstacles that face him or her. In addition, there are many examples of heroes in the
modern world. These unique heroes in the world are regular people like you and me. The only
difference is, these unique heroes take an extra step and make a footprint in the world. To make
this print, there were, and are many situations and natural disasters in the word that help bring out
these heroes. For example, during the 9/11 attacks there were dozens of heroes. People from all
different backgrounds became a hero saving others lives or having a positive impact in a random
stranger s life. One hero during this troublesome time in

Steve Jobs Comparison
Apple product is one of the most inventions that changed the world history in the touch technology,
which is invented by a man who did not finish his college degree. In the first hand, Steve jobs
invented the first Macintosh computer in 1948 and people can see that was the beginning of Apple
Company. On the other hand, Bill Gates invented the Microsoft software which the software that

both of them did not finish his college degree. Therefore, Apple products are enhanced and

Moreover, iCloud is a feature in Apple iOS that astonished most people with it capability,
because it does a lot of work to make it easier on the customer. For example when people bought
a new cellphone it need a lot of work to transfer their personal information to the new
smartphone, yet with iCloud it just one whole step and all your personal information, contact,
massages, banks accounts will moved forward to the new cellphone. While, in Android they do
not have exactly such iCloud feature, they only have an online data storage associated with
Google drive. Lastly, the touch screen is major part of apple technology and that what makes
people like Apple more than Android products, according to the author Sebastian says, Where an

My American Journey By Wes Moore

the two Wes Moores had such different friends, they ended up becoming separate people and

at school, but even outside of friends, individuals education alters their mentalities. Without a
doubt, actions like conquering challenging subject matter and overcoming academic struggles
cause some parts of this educational effect, but one s teachers have some of the greatest influence
in education. The instructor teaches with a personal worldview, one which will incidentally
impact the students. For example, some private schools teach the religion of Christianity, where
a living God designed the universe, while public schools are required to teach the religion of
evolution, where everything exists due to a chance clash of lifeless chemicals. This disparity in
beliefs about the universe s origin fosters strongly opposing ideas about topics such as morals and
the meaning of life that are fundamental to how a person decides to handle any given situation.
The teacher can also inspire a growth or a fixed mindset in students. Psychology professor Carol
Dweck invented this idea of

Rude Customers In The Workplace
My job is fairly simple, but it can also be challenging at times when I have to deal with certain
rude customers. I work as a cashier at Thriftway in Mt.Vernon balancing and counting a cash
drawer, ringing customers items up, bagging groceries, cleaning my workspace and around my
workspace, taking my register trash out, stocking the baby/medicine aisle, and being nice and
friendly to all of my customers. At my job, I have to be sure to treat all of my customers with
respect and fairness no matter the age, size, or relationship you may have with a certain person.
Once I ring up a customer, I must cash them out, help with bagging if needed, and then clean my
register if no other customer is in line. When there are no customers at all, I am

The Agency Wishes To Provide A Summary Of The Current An
The Agency wishes to provide a summary of the current an ongoing situation with the rapid
deterioration of Syria s Civil War, which now includes multi international coalitions supporting
both sides of the civil war. This civil war also includes the spread and growth of ISIS aka ISIL
aka Daesh s influence across the globe and its continued spread of terror against all that oppose it.
This briefing is designed to prepare the office of the Executive Chief to make well educated and
decisive decisions for potential issues that will present themselves in coming days and over the next
several years within the region.
The Syrian Civil war has its foundation rooted in civil protest, against the current government led

To gain favorable support from the already war tired public, the United States presented the
situation in Syria as that of a dictatorship denying basic civil rights to its people, democracy. The
United States was trying to support the survival of democracy and to support the oppressed. This
explanation provided to the general public to gain favorable support mirrors that of the Vietnam
War, where the reason provided was to provide support to South Vietnam to prevent the spread of
communism and maintain basic rights of democracy. The United States eventually committed to
providing basic support of supplies and armament with very vague objectives in its commitment and
limitations of said support.
Eventually, advisors would be sent in to provide the rebels with guidance and training to fight the
better trained and armed Syrian Government. With the introduction of advisors into the civil war
we again see a parallel in this action to that of in the Vietnam War s introduction of advisors. This
now placed American personnel on the ground in an active combat zone with the potential of being
attacked or caught in the cross fire between the rebels and government troops. The United States
escalation of advisors required the Syrian Government to also seek aid and support from other
nations that were willing to stand against the United States. This opened the door for Russia, Iran
and Hezbollah to back the Syrian Government to deny the United States further

Objective:
We will determine the acceleration of the weights of an Atwood s Machine, both experimentally
and theoretically. We will attempt to verify Newton s Second law which is a mathematical
statement relating force, mass, and acceleration. Newton s Second law states that acceleration, a, is
directly related to net force, F, and inversely related to mass, m. Naturally this give F=ma. Using
the Atwood s Machine experimental acceleration data (for 10 different runs with 10 different
combinations of masses) will be gathered and compared to the theoretical acceleration which is
predicted by Newton s Second Law using a modified version of F=ma. The only two variables in
this system system that we will control are the the two masses. We ... Show more content on

The inversely proportional relationship between total mass and acceleration is also shown in
our graph. I took the liberty of plotting the non constant mass by F vs. aexp. Which clearly
showed that with an increase in total mass resulted in a gradual decrease of the acceleration of
the system. There were several sources of error in our experiment. But none affected the ability
for a relationship between mass, acceleration, force to be drawn. The largest error was the one
mentioned above. But its source was the easiest to account for. We mis imputed the value of the
spoke length into DataStudio. Luckley this mistake was easily remedied due to the design of
the pulley. The electronic eye was recording a time that was exactly half of what it should have
been. This time data produced an acceleration that was exactly double what it should be.
Therefore this was issue was easily remedied by dividing the times by 2. Other sources of error
were due to the frictional forces in the pulley system, also the masses of the weights might not
have been perfect. Air resistance was a major player when the difference in masses was large,
therefore acceleration was high. The weights could have been verified to eliminate that error, and
more advanced physics could have been used to take into account the friction of the pulley and the
air resistance.

Beatrice and Benedick as a Couple in William Shakespeare s...
Beatrice and Benedick as a Couple in William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing
Much Ado About Nothing is a Shakespeare play set in Mecina. It is a comedy, about Don Pedro
and his friends. The play focuses on the relationships of the characters, especially that of Beatrice
/Benedick and Claudio/Hero. The two romances follow two different ideas, one an average
romance in Shakespeare s day, the other a not so average romance. Beatrice and Benedick s
history together is made clear from the start, when Beatrice tells the messenger bringing news of
Benedick s return, that he is no less than a stuffed man , implying that he is very full of himself.
This shows right from the start that any romance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This all happens in the first scene, so their relationship is established from the beginning.
Hero and Claudio s relationship gets established near the beginning as well. However, this one is
much more simple. Claudio comments on how the world cannot buy a jewel as great as Hero, and
after Don Pedro woos her for him they are set to get married, without any serious problems.
The two main relationships the play focuses on are now set, and the two audiences have different
views on them. For an audience today to see Hero and Claudio decide to get married so simply
would be boring. However, a Shakespearian audience would see this relationship as ordinary, and
not be bothered that it was so simple. Although Beatrice and Benedick are not yet shown as in love,
a Shakespearian audience would not have thought it usual for a woman like Beatrice to be
speaking as she was about Benedick. However, today it is perfectly normal for Beatrice to be
talking like she is, so at the moment, the two relationships are more satisfying to the different
audiences.
Beatrice and Benedick s relationship has another problem. They both like to use their wit and
intelligence to try and outsmart people, and mainly themselves. Because of this they are constantly
going to be trying to outsmart the other, and this

Genesis: Chapters 11 20
Chapter 11
Characters:LORD, the family tree of Shem
Main Theme(s):This chapter shows the family tree of Shem to Abram.
Major Events/Teachings:This chapter talks about the family from Shem s family all the way to
Abram, which is the son of Terah. The chapter ends with the wife of Abram, Sarai, having no
children and how they traveled from Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan. Once they got to
Canaan, they settled there and lived there.
Impressions:I do not know what to think about chapter 11 of the book of Genesis. This is so
because the entire chapter is a long family line that starts with Shem and goes all the way to
Abram. It also talks about the family of Abram, such as his wife, Sarai, and how she could not ...

and Lot is arrested an put in prison. The people of Canaan invaded Sodom. Melchizedek eventually
blesses Abram in the name of the Lord. Abram finds stolen goods and returns them to the town.
Impressions:My impression of this chapter is that the kingdom arrested Lot and stole all of his

When Cultures Collide Essay
Mergers and acquisitions has become an important part of the American commerce, which
communication plays an important role in reducing the negative impacts. While Schweiger agrees
that failure to communicate with employees during a merger will increase employee uncertainty
and anxiety, he highlights that previous researchers (Napier et al., 1989) did not measure
uncertainty nor any of the supposed dysfunctional outcomes said to follow uncertainty.
Communication is also suggested by others to be avoided, as it might alert competitors or cause
employees to leave an organization rather than endure painful changes (Buono Bowditch, 1989). It
can also threaten management s ability to respond flexibly to changes during a merger or acquisition

The preview of the experiment was deemed effective that the vice president of the human resource
immediately introduced it to the control plant at the end of the experiment. As opposed to Buono
Bowditch s worry that employees will be unable to cope with the change and thus resign, only two
employees resigned from both plants, out of the 126 employees employed in the experimental plant
and 146 employees in the control plant.
Schweiger concluded that communications can help employees cope with the effects of mergers
and acquisitions to reduce the negative impacts to the organizational effectives, as should it be left
unchecked, it could become costly to an organization and undermine the initial aspects and
objectives of the merger or takeover.

History of relationship A problem of trust
The plan for the Australia China FTA was first crystallised in 2003 upon Chinese President Hu
Jintao s visit to Australia in October 2003.
Australia and China agreed to commence negotiations on the FTA soon after on 18 April 2005,
following consideration of a joint FTA Feasibility Study. The study was completed in March 2005,
and concluded that there would be significant economic benefits for both Australia and China as the
political conditions were mature enough, and because Beijing and Canberra did not have
fundamental differences .
This study however did not foresee a global financial crisis or stable strength of the Australian
dollar and thus the real effect the FTA may have is still unclear. Regardless, China valued Australia
as offering first world goods and services without the political baggage that comes with Americans
and Europeans. While the FTA negotiations have taken a fitful stop start routine over the
intervening years and despite Clive Palmer s recent criticism towards the Chinese suggesting that
they were mongrels who shoot their people and haven t got a justice system , Australia s Abbott
Government has recognised the importance of Australia s relationship with China. Prime Minister
Abbott has been a quick learner in areas of international trade negotiations. He supported views

The Characteristics Of Nurses In The Media
In the media, nurses are portrayed as if they are self centered, uncaring, unprofessional, and
unintelligent. All of these characteristics are against the CNO standards. CNO standards indicates
that nurses should not act how the media has portrayed. They are expected to act and treat their
patients with respect and care. It is very hard to find a place where the media portrays nursesare
hard working people who demonstrate clinical skill, compassion and diligence. The setting of
where nurses work is very often limited. Many shows and movies place nurses usually into
hospital settings and disregard places like long term care and home care. The CNO standardfor
professionalism that would best relate to confidentiality, leadership and use of social media would
be privacy confidentiality.
Each nurse is required to follow the CNO s Ethics Practice Standard. Values that are included are
client well being, client choice, respect for life, privacy confidentiality, maintaining
commitments, truthfulness, and fairness. The media portrays nurses as if they do not respect
their clients, they are rowdy outside of their workplace, and share information everywhere. That
is opposite of what nurses are really. Every nurse tries their hardest in order to change how the
media has presented them. They do not share client information to anyone, anywhere. If they did
share, they are automatically breaking the privacy confidentiality value of the CNO Ethics
Practice Standard. If every nurse followed the CNO standards precisely and the media
acknowledged that then we would be viewed differently. The society forms its opinions based on
its own observations. The behavior of some nurses can easily trigger a stereotype for all nurses.
The society hears and sees things and that shows them how to think about what they saw and heard.
Shows like Scrubbing In would ve never been created if there had been no hints that some nurses
behave like heart breakers, attention seekers and fun seekers. Traditionally, nurses were as angelic,
helpers to physicians yet low skilled. The media portraying nurses negatively could produce doubt
in a patient about whether their information will be confidential or accidentally announced
somewhere. Other

Martin Luther King Rhetorical Analysis
Entitled Hierarchy We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to
do right, petitioned Nelson Mandela. Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. knew the essence of time in
Birmingham Alabama, 1963. He brought to his audience ideals of abolishing segregation that
thrived in the South and proactively sought to make change. Using a library of rhetorical
devices, such as allusions, pathos, and similes, King connected his reader to the things he had to
address. King felt it very vital to address the wrongdoing s of the prejudice South. In so, he
makes a lot of allusions to religious ideals, to connect these people with their religious
wrongdoing. With religious allusions, Doctor king was able to put a new take on segregation. In
paragraph 3, he timed this phrase, Injustice anywhere is a threat to injustice everywhere. Making
the point, just because in one part of the country there is racism, segregation, prejudice, etc., this
could lead to something much worse: Segregation everywhere. Stopping the prejudice now could
make a positive impact on future generations, which king petitioned and managed to do. In
paragraph 3, king dedicates the entire paragraph to comparing himself to the apostles, carrying
the word of God. He uses this to not only compare himself to these prophets, but to show he too
will carry his word. King s word is not only of God, but to abolish the old prejudice and
segregation of the South; also to go at any length to fulfill this dream. In

My Mother Served As Minister Of Music
Eleven years ago I walked into a church. From the outside it looked like your ordinary, everyday
church, but on the inside...on the inside it felt like coming home. I went from a young girl
wounded by the hypocrisy of well meaning church goers, to a woman on fire for God and ready to
step out in my Godgiven destiny as a warrior for the Lord.
I have been a believer since the age of seven. I can remember the exact feeling as the Holy Spirit
filled me with such longing to be a part of the family of God that I could barely sit still until the
invitation to come forward was given. But even before that, I had been in church from infancy.
My mother served as minister of music for many years, and church functions were as natural to
me as breathing. But it does not take much for the tender heart to be wounded by those that no
matter how well intentioned think they know better than God, and manage to impose their
judgement and harsh words on others. I was too new to my walk, and too stuck at my traditional
faith maturity level, to understand I should not confuse the people of God with the heart of
God. I stopped going to church, and, often with the exception of times of struggle I did not even
pray. I had no idea the relationship I was missing out on because, you see, the church I grew up
in knew the Word of God but they failed to share the heart of God. Therefore, I saw the Lord only
as my judge and jury, I did not understand the grace, mercy and goodness of God. I couldn t

Junk Food Should Be Banned In Schools
Long live junk food, a child s best friend who has stuck with them throughout all these years.
Schools are considering to erase these long term companions from a student s educational lives
once and for all. The question we are asking here is whether or not this is going to be a choice that
is worth it. Junk foodshould not be banned in schools because banning junk food in school cannot
guarantee restrictions on junk food outside of school, cutting out junk food greatly decreases
school revenue, and the availability of healthier foods does not ensure proper intake of calories.
When junk food is banned in school, it does not guarantee a ban everywhere else outside of
school. As Radford states, Whether or not junk food is available to them at school may not have
much bearing on how much junk food they eat (7). This could be due to multiple reasons.
Outside of school, junk food is an inexpensive source that is widely available and any student
would have access to them because of how conveniently located they are. Not only are they
conveniently placed, they are also served in large portions (Reyman 1). If junk food was banned,
these outside locations could then serve as escapes for students from the policies that have been
placed. There will also be students who would be exempt from the policies once they are set in
stone students who like to pack their own lunch (Jaonick and Cass 17). These students still have the
chance to pack the unhealthiest foods from home, giving

Unexamined Life Research Paper
Both Plato and Socrates seen philosophy not as an occupation, but a way of life. Socrates believed
there were different kind of lives to live, the unexamined and the examined. The unexamined life
focused on material things. Such as, wealth, power, possessions and the wants of the body. The
examined life chases truth, justice, betterment of the city and lasting things. In the examined life,
the soulis the most important thing. To Socrates, a life filled with chasing after material things, the
unexamined life, is not worth living. Socrates is seen as the image of an examined life. He lived
and died justly and chose to further his examined life even if it meant he would be put to death.
Socrates also believed that we should not fear death.

Did you learn to swim as a child? If so, ask your parents why they made sure you learned to swim.
If you did not, ask your parents why you never learned to swim. What role (if any) did your race,
class, or gender play in you learning or not learning to swim as a child? As a child I never learned
how to swim, but I was always so fascinated by swimmers. My mother said that learning to swim
was just never a priority for us. I think the role race played in my case was, since I am hispanic

Memory Retention Research Paper
Research: Memory retention is essential to all human beings. It is a fundamental function of our
brain: whether it be memorizing people s names, memorizing math formulas, or memorizing the
location of the car keys. We all recognize the importance of memorization and we all seek ways to
improve our memory retention skills. Many different parts of the brain control a person s memory,
but the most important part is the frontal lobe. It controls working and short termmemory. Due to
the processes of stimulus of the sensory memory which transmits to the frontal lobe, people can, on
average, recall 7 items after looking at them for 15 seconds. Neuroscience journal In the frontal

The beneficial activity of walking also causes an improvement of creativity according to Dr.
Oppezzo of Stanford University. Dr. Oppezzo created a matched pair experimental design using
undergraduate student volunteers as subjects that tests the variable of walking versus sitting and
inside walking versus outside walking. he conducted 3 experiments in which she compared tests
of GAU (creative divergent thinking) and CRA (convergent thinking) using the variables of
walking on a treadmill, sitting, walking then sitting, sitting then walking, sitting twice, and
outdoors walking. For her last test she compared tests of creative analogy generation with the
variables of sitting inside, walking on a treadmill inside, walking outside, and rolling on a
wheelchair outside. In all of her findings, she saw an increase in creativity following or during the
physical activity of walking. The increase in creativity she found was also independent of location
of the test, meaning that being outdoors did not help or hinder memory retention skills when
compared to results from indoors. This suggests that some physical aspect of walking stimulates
the brain s memory system. But, more research needs to be conducted to understand the biological
cause of this effect, which Dr. Oppezzo calls acute. She is unable to provide any scientifically
based answers to the results of her experiment because it is still unclear

Hickory Dickory Dock Analysis
Hickory Dickory Dock
Nursery rhymes are poems that have an underline meaning. Nursery rhymes were used in a way to
relay a hidden message that spoke out against the British government. However, guardians and
educators communicated the significance of nursery rhymes to children at a youthful age, asserting
that they are critical for them to build up an urge for dialect, syllables, and rhythm. Individuals
would think that nursery rhymes were sweet and innocent, but in between those lines was a hidden
message that was derogatory. Nursery rhymes originated in Britain roughly around the seventeenth
hundreds. Many nursery rhymes were popular poems like Hickory Dickory Dock. Be that as it
may, does Hickory Dickory Dock have a mischievous significance behind its snappy tune?
Hickory Dickory Dock is a straightforward nursery rhyme about a mouse and a clock. However, it
presumably alludes to one of Britain s minimum rulers who showed up on the political scene in
the seventeenth century. This nursery rhyme initially published in 1743; yet, is thought to allude
to previous events in the earlier century. England was a republic between the execution of King
Charles I in 1649 and the reclamation of the government, under King Charles II, in 1660. Richard
was given power because his brother died which led him to take his throne. As a result, Richard
Cromwell went on for nine months as Lord Protector before offering his resignation. Richard was

Essay The Gospel of Mark
INTRODUCTION
At the risk of being judgmental this book is very complicated. The points are many and varied.
In his lead up to his commentary proper Myers makes many points as he expounds the many
topics that would influence that commentary. The World of Jesus and the World of Mark, the
filters and models of that social world, the cross cultural history and the socio economic tensions
of both worlds are all considered. The Jewish War is also a point to consider in that it occurs
around the time of writing and most of the historicity comes from the works of Josephus. The
major point to consider however is Myers self confessed socio historical hermeneutic.

The hypotheses on how this Gospel originated are many and varied. The continuity of the actual
message of the story of the life of Jesus seems, it would be generally agreed, to hinge on the Gospel
of Mark being a source for the other Synoptic gospels at least. Much argument has also gone on
about the place and time of writing of Mark and how this influences the traditioning or the handing
on of the story. How the original written version came to be from the oral process is also a cause
for the concern as regards continuity of the story. Was it faithfully translated?
Nineham states that Jesus very character was determined by the particular circumstances in which
the tradition was handed down. Those who kept it shaped the tradition itself. They had their own
motives and beliefs and these have influenced the tradition that has brought out the character of
Jesus as we know today (Nineham 1986: 21).
This traditioning was a process that began by orally recounting the story at private or public
gatherings. The public gatherings being more favoured because preachers or teachers, that is those
entrusted with the traditioning process, would have told the story at worship or catechumen
gatherings (Nineham 1986: 22).
As is sometimes the practice with preaching today so it may have been in the first century. Anyone
telling the story would be driven by a particular need of the time, for example if a message on good
neighbours was needed then the

Descriptive Vacation In The Rainforest
It s summer vacation and I m riding the gondola with my family up to the top of a rainforest in
Costa Rica. My brother and I are preparing ourselves mentally, to zip line across the monstrous
tree tops of the rainforest. I was feeling more and more frightened every time someone in gondola
mentioned how high we were. Going up to the top, I felt the atmosphere change and suddenly the
air was really moist, and I was almost immediately covered in sweat. We were at the top of the
rainforest, overlooking all the brightly colored trees, Lake Arenal(the biggest lake in Costa Rica) at
the bottom, and the clear bright blue sky. As we walked out the door to get off the gondola, you
could instantly hear the frightened screams of the people who just got launched down the zip
line. Even though my mom was not zip lining, she was the most uncomfortable and nervous out
of us all, because she was scared to watch my brother and I zip line. As we were putting our
helmets and harnesses on, you could smell the sweat of the previous owner of the used gear. The
harness was extremely heavy almost to the point where you could barely walk. The gloves were
very rough and smelled absolutely terrible. The helmet was very large and almost too tight for
my head. Waiting in line, two kids behind me thought it was funny to bump helmets constantly,
and the noise bothered my brother a lot, but not me, because all I could think about was how I
was going to survive this. Waiting for my turn to jump, only made me more nervous. I was
shaking heavily, gripping the railing really tight, and swatting away all the enormous and exotic
bugs that I had never seen before. Suddenly it was my turn to get strapped in. I could feel every
inch of my body shaking, and I could even sense the fear coming from my mom, who was watching
from the ledge above. I could tell my dad and my other siblings weren t scared for my brother and I,
because all they were doing was taking pictures of us and admiring the view. The employee who
was strapping me in was giving me tips like, keep you legs up , and brake as you come into the
landing port , but I couldn t hear a thing he was saying because I was so nervous and focused on

Alicia Donovan s My Life Essay
Alicia Donovan leans causally against the railing of her grandmother s porch, smoldering
cigarette in hand, watching the cars and passerbys going up and down Mount Pleasant Avenue in
Providence. A beat up Chevrolet with blasting rap music slows down and Donovan exchanges
good natured insults with the four or five boys inside. Teasingly, she makes and obscene gesture
and the car takes off up the street, leaving the air thick with the distinct smell of muffler smoke
and the fading strains of DMX. As they disappear out of sight, she shakes her head and chuckles
slightly, obviously struck by some funny thought that she s not about to share. Watching this
nonchalant blonde, no one would ever guess she carries the stigma of a childhood marked my
tragedy and trauma. Alicia looks right at home in front of the shabby, grey tenement which she
shares with her grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Unlike most of the girls today, she s not
trying to be trendy or fashionable. She has on a plain white T shirt, worn from unsuccessful
attempts to get out its numerous stains, and a pair ofjeans which are slightly ripped in the knees.
Turning her attention away from the view, she runs her hands through her tousled hair and drops
into one of the porch s slightly rusted aluminum chairs. Well let s do this, she says with a good
natured shrug, so whatcha got for me? Alicia wipes the trademark grin off her face and gains a
serious, thoughtful expression as she begins to listen. It s

Nuclear War And The Cold War Essay
The vast majority of the American public know the Cold War as a period of political and state
tension between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. This era is often associated with the advancement
of scientific research and arms build up as a result of the competition between these world
superpowers, especially through the development of the nuclear bomb. Aside from the actual
politics of the Cold War, Joseph Masco, professor of anthropology at the University of Chicago,
argues in his novel, The Theater of Operations, that the Cold War provided a psychological platform
for the U.S. security state to transform everyday American s perceptions of mass death. Through
multiple government operations during the Cold War, the idea of nuclear disaster was presented as
an undeniable threat to the American people, and instilled to a certain extent a sense of nuclear
fear. Masco believes that the current state of mind in the counterterror state is merely just a
continuation of the effects of the Cold War s psychological conditioning. Additionally, Masco
argues that the nuclear projects during the Cold War helped initiate the advancement of earth
science research. He feels that through the increased knowledge in these fields, the Cold War
nuclear projects were linked to environmental concerns. Through these examples, Masco
demonstrates his view on how the Cold War has influenced the U.S. cultural understanding of
nuclear threats. Masco argues that the psychological efforts during the decades

Learning Principles Classical Conditioning And...
Reading skills are essential to learning all other subjects taught in school. The sharper the reading
skills children have and the earlier they accumulate them will determine how rapidly and how well
they will achieve in school. That is why it is very crucial to get students motivated to read at a
young age. Research has consistently shown that children who are exposed to reading or who read
regularly gather long term benefits such as better academic performance, a mastery of language,
better communication skills and more logical thinking, Nevertheless many parents struggle with
generating ideas to encourage or motivate their children to read. There are three learning principles
that can be used to help parents help their children get motivated to read. Those learning principles
are Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioningand Observational Learning.
Classical conditioning is the association of two stimuli and thus we learn to anticipate events.
Classical conditioning is a learning procedure that involve reflexes. Reflexes consist of the
following: Unconditioned Stimulus (US) a stimulus that evokes an unconditioned response without
any prior conditioning. Unconditioned Response (UR) an unlearned response to an unconditioned
stimulus that occurs without prior conditioning. Neutral Stimulus(NS) which is a stimulus that
produces no specific response. Conditioned Stimulus (CS) is the neutral stimulus after it has
acquired the ability, through conditioning, to elicit a

Starting a Spa Business in Singapore
Starting a Spa Business in Singapore
Despite the economic crisis, health and wellness sector in Singapore has always recorded a
steady growth starting from S$140 million a year. The factor causing the high amount of revenue
is due to high tourist arrivals and the increase in wealth of individuals. People are more willing to
part with their money in return for exotic treatments and multiple treatment packages. There has
also been a 63% increase in the number of spas since 2003. Due to the potential gains, big players
and new companies are setting up shop in Singapore.
The Massage Establishment Act requires a Massage Establishment (ME) License to allow the
company to operate its massage, foot reflexology services, spa baths, manicure and similar

Global Energy Consumption And The State Of Infrastructure
This essay evaluates the targets of goal seven in terms of measurability, current measurements, and
the effectiveness of these targets in the realization of the goal.
Measurability
To effectively measure improvement on targets 7.1 7.3, source and levels of global energy
consumption must be accounted for. These assessment procedures have been carried out for years
by national and international organizations such as the International Energy Agency(IEA) or the US
Energy Information Administration (EIA). They use indicators (aggregate and disaggregate) in
different sectors (transport, commercial, industrial) to estimate trends and evaluate progress
(Taylor, d Otigue, Francoeur, Trudeau, 2010). It is also important to gather publications from
multiple organizations around the globe to generate well rounded reports from many perspectives.
For target 7.a, the volume of knowledge being shared must be measured. This might involve
tracking the number of translated publications, international collaborations between institutions and
the number of exchanges between researchers. To measure target 7.b, types of energy consumption
and the state of infrastructure can easily be documented, but international cooperation is necessary
for information to be shared.
Current Measurements
A global concern for the limitations and consequences of burning fossil fuels came into existence
decades ago, catalyzed by events such as the oil shock of 1973 and increasing CO2 emissions
(Lovejoy 1994).

English essay Explore the ways in which John Steinbeck presents power in the fight scene.
The 1930 s was hard time for most people who lost their money in the Wall Street crash. John
Steinbeck tries to portray how tough life was back then in his novel mice and men. Mice and
men also portray how power was abused and the way that it was used in the 1930 s. In the fight
scene power is portrayed in many different ways physical power, financial power, collective
power, emotional blackmail, status power and people who are disempowered. In this essay I will

In the fight scene Lennie shows that he has a lot a physical power and strength. John Steinbeck
uses alliteration in the description where Lennie lets go of his hold he crouched cowering
against the wall. He crouched cowering is a brilliant use of alliteration because it adds suspense
to the scene they were in and it emphasis the point that he is cowardly and abuses his financial
power over the men and tries to use them but fails. These words makes Curley look like the bad
guy and reminds us of how over confident he was the first time that George and Lennie met him.
In conclusion power is portrayed in many different ways in of mice and men but there are many
occasions where people abuse their power in the one scene I have been writing about . This is
one of the reasons that life was so tuff in the 1930 s a people didn t have relationships like
George and Lennie s. The abuse of power eventually drove George to killing Lennie because he
knew what life would be like if he didn t kill him. The power and status of people back then
meant the difference of being controlled by someone s abuse of power or controlling someone. I
wouldn t like to be on either end because in the end it destroyed the great relationship that two men

Gender Stereotypes In The L Word
The L Word in one of the rare examples of a television show that centers itself on characters that fall
outside of the straight male hegemony; this is true from the introductory shots of the show. After
doing a series of setting establishing shots of LA, the camera pans across a typical suburban street,
and image that immediately invokes the idea of the typical mom and with with their kids, American
nuclear family. The next scene introduces the first character, a muscular, straight, white, cis manin a
white t shirt movie furniture within a room that one would expect to find in such a suburban scene.
The typical male character is the type of protagonist that viewers are typically asked to identify

By allowing the viewer to see this character once again, it gives them a familiar face to identify
with. As Mulvey suggests, most visual media is meant for white men to identify with, this type of
character gives the short allusion that the television show is going to be this same type of
experience: a show directed at straight white men. However, it quickly flips the script on this as
the next scene, in which we receive the shows first dialogue, depicts one of the women from the
bed, named Tina, standing in front of a mirror, looking at an ovulation test. Mulvey writes about
what is called the mirror phase, The mirror phase occurs...with the result that his recognition of
himself is joyous in the he imagines his mirror image to be a more complete, more perfect than
he experiences his own body. Recognition is thus mislaid with mis recognition: the image
recognized is conceived as the reflected body of self, but its mis recognition as superior projects
(60). This quote describes a stage of identity in psychoanalysis in which a child first recognizes
themselves in a mirror, and can therefore imagine themselves as more than a reflection of their
mother s face even though the image is a misrepresentation in it s incompleteness (Mulvey 60).
This concept is directly applicable to this scene, as the character standing in front of the mirror
represents a stage of identification for the viewer. By seeing the character reflected in the mirror the
viewer receives a more complete image of her, is forced into this step of self identification; thus, the
audience directly cued that they are supposed to identify with this character, rather than the male
character that was shown

Symbolism And Symbolism In The Great Gatsby
Throughout this novel we see many symbolic meanings, the author Scott. Fitzgerald intended it
this way in order to send a message to the audience. We see many colors showing symbolism some
of this colors are green, yellow, white, red, and gold. I am going to talk about the color green and
how the author showed its impact and symbolism throughout this novel. These coloroften can be
associated with people from the novel, for example the greencan be associated with Gatsby, the red
can be associated with Myrtle, yellow and white can be associated with Daisy, and blue can be
associated with T.J. Eckleburg. This symbolic colors give great importance to the novel and it
entertains the reader with this symbolic meanings throughout the novel. Green is the color of
spring, which symbolizes confidence, vitality and hope. In the Great Gatsby, the color green is
closely associated with the green light at the end of Daisy s dock. It symbolizes Gatsby s deep
love to Daisy and his American Dream. But as the green light is always feeble and far away, it
also indicates the disillusionment of his dream. In other words, the green light symbolizes hope.
It symbolizes hope because, Gatsby sees this light as the hope of him and Daisy being together
at one point. It shows Gatsby s love towards her because you can see how he really feels about
her when he tries to grab the light by stretching his arm as far as he can. This shows how Gatsby
desperately tries to get Daisy s heart but her heart is too far away from him. This light also
signifies how close he is to Daisy, he think he can just grab her of how close he think he is to
her, but this can also be a disillusionment to his dreams because the light is always distant and far
from him and he will never grab it just like he could never have Daisy. Throughout this novel we
can see Gatsby s affection towards this light, this light is very important and we see it being
reference back and forth throughout the whole book. This color made the novel more vivid, more
colorful, more dreamlike, more visionary and more profound. It helps the reader connect with the
book. You can relate to Gatsby s feeling when he sees the light and he tries to grab it and it makes

Legal status of early year framework
Developed countries has made early year framework for child development with respect to their

Similarly, some parts of America have its own early year framework for the child development,
as Victoria has its own early year framework for child development. World health organization has

In actively managed funds the manager tries to beat the market by selling and buying assets.
Passively managed funds consist of a large number of assets and try to by diversification to
perform as well as the market. The passively managed funds are much cheaper as they require
less work and transactions. This research tries to address the problem from an investor s point of
view, which kind of funds are the best ones to invest in? If the active funds would constantly
outperform the market the effective market hypothesis should be questioned. Still there might be
some funds that can beat the market due to luck or skill of the fund manager. There is evidence
going both ways depending time period or researcher. By using risk measures and performance we
will try to give some more insight in the discussion and the
Finnish market situation at the moment.

THE FINNISH FUND MARKET
Most of the investments made by private investors in Finland are made via local banks, like in the
rest of Europe. The Finnish banks charge high expenses in comparison to other banks for managing
a mutual fund, which is most likely due to the fact that the private households in Finland are loyal
customers to one bank and

Waukesh My Impression Analysis
When I saw this question I immediately knew where I would find this type of information. I was
attending UW Waukesha, I live in Milwaukee so it was a long drive. I would often listen to the
radio while I was driving, there are two radio stations that play Spanish music one has been
around for a while now and the other one just started about 2 years ago. These radio stations
have programs that are local meaning the that the DJ/broadcaster is from Milwaukee, but they
also have programs that are very popular in other states which most of the time are from
California. I was listening to the radio personalities, which includes two women one from El
Salvador and one from Mexico and five men their ages go from maybe late 20 s to late 40 s.This

violence is Jerry Springer because they often have women fighting each other for entertainment.
We often don t realize that violence is not only physical abuse, but it can also be sexual abuse,
social abuse, psychological or/and emotional abuse, verbal abuse and there are many other ways
that consider violence against women. We often don t realize that a simple post about someone can
be hurtful and can hurt the person in many ways, we have seen how social media bullying had

Salmonella Research Paper
INTRODUCTION
Salmonellosis is a disease caused by the bacteria salmonella. Characterised usually by acute onset
of fever, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea and sometimes vomiting. Onset of disease symptoms
occurs 6 72 hours (usually 12 36 hours) after ingestion of salmonella, and illness lasts 2 7 days.
Symptoms of salmonellosis are relatively mild and patients will make a recovery without specific
treatment in most cases (WHO). Salmonella being a foodborne illness pathogen causes severe
debilitating infections including meningitis.

Prevention, Interventions and Health Promotion
Prevention requires control measures at all stages of the food chain, from agricultural production, to
processing, manufacturing and preparation of foods in both commercial establishments and at
home. Ensuring food is properly cooked and still hot when served. Washing hands thoroughly and
frequently using soap, in particular after contact with pets or farm animals, or after having been to
the toilet (WHO). Both professional and domestic food handlers to be vigilant while preparing food
and observing hygienic rules of food preparation. Protecting fields from animal faecal
contamination.
Poultry Vaccination to be carried out and thorough reheating of food.
However, having a grasp of the burden of a disease would imply integrating the different health
effects of foodborne illnesses such as short and long term complication and their impact on daily
life and mortality. A public health indicator which combines the effects of morbidity and mortality
is the disability adjusted life years (DALYs) as previously demonstrated in the WHO Global

Role of Women in the Book Persepolis Essay
Role of Women in Persepolis
In the book, The Complete Persepolis written by Marjane Satrapi every woman had a prescribed
role. The role of Marji s maid was to show that social class differences do exist and to show what
happens within these social class differences. Marji s mother s role was to support Marji and
make sure that she was well off, while her grandmother s role was also to support her and give
her words of wisdom. Her school teachers role was to make sure that the female children,
attending the school, wore their veils, while the guardians of the revolution s role were to arrest
females that were improperly veiled. The younger Marji s role was to show us how the Iranian
Revolution/ the mandatory wearing of the veil affected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of these things the guardians were going to take her in, but Marji rebelled against that by
crying her eyes out and also by lying.
There are many ways in which Iranian cultural expectations are different from the western cultural
expectations. They are different in regards to citizens rights and gender norms.
According to Farhad Kazemi article in the Iran Chamber Society, an important difference between
the Islamic world and the West in regard to citizenship rights is how these rights are formally
categorized. In the West, non gender based citizenship is the norm, even though in practice, full and
complete citizenship rights and equality are not always the case. In the Islamic world, however, the
norm is to grant different categories of people different citizenship rights. Hence, women and
religious minorities enjoy a different category of citizenship rights than males and Muslims.
The picture on the next page illustrates how in the Islamic world, the norm is to grant different
categories of people different citizenship rights. This is a picture of Marji and her family eat at
one table and her maid eating at another. Because her maid is on a lower class level than Marji
and her family, she didn t had the right or may I say she couldn t eat on the same table as them.
Because of this she didn t have the same amount of equality and citizenship rights as Marji and her
family.
Relating to gender norms, Iranians view women s hair as erotic,

Impact of Fire on the Geology of Soils Essay
Fires are an important and healthy process in many ecosystems. The lack of fires can cause new
plant communities to invade an area . The regular occurrence of fires can keep one plant
community dominate, like oak savannas. Fires can leave burnt sticks the size of trees and
clumps of charcoal where bunch grass use to grow, but not for long. An area that was burned
will re grow, grasslands will be green the next growing season and forests will typically show new
growth soon after. Somewhere in the process of a fire the soil it travels over is effected. Alterations
happen immediately after a fire passes over a soil and can continue years after a fire has gone. Soils
are impacted in two main ways; by the entering of nutrientsform the brunt... Show more content on

The differences between the two may effect how the alterations of soil are disturbed, but both will
undergo the same general processes.
The heat of a fire has many effects on the properties of a soil. The effects are not the same for every
soil type because it depends on what is present in the soil before the fire. In my paper, I will be
exploring different types of alterations a soil may undergo as a result of a fire. The three main
areas I am going to look at are; change in color and structure, hydrophobic properties after a fire,
and the alteration in nutrient cycles, in particular nitrogen. In conjunction with what changes occur
to the properties of a soil, I will also be looking at management practices that can lessen the
undesirable changes in soil.
Effects on soil color and structure
In heating most substances, change in color and texture or structure occurs, this generally holds
true in the case of soils. A. L. Ulery and R. C. Graham (1993) did a study on how fire alters both
color and texture of soils. The color of the burned soils tended to redden in hue and have higher
chromas and values after burning, than did the unburned soil of the same type (Ulery and Graham,
1993). One reason that the color changed is most likely due to the translocation and transformation
of nutrients and minerals in the soil. As the soil burns the heat alters individual minerals in the
soil. The redder color in the soil was caused by an

He was then considered as a controversial figure. With the rise of Islamism all over the world, and
with al QaraбёЌДЃwД« s central position in contemporary Sunni Islamist movement, many
warnings about the threat of Islamism have been centred around his statements and activities. In
2001, for example, he was banned from entering the United States because of his support for
suicide attacks in Palestine in the course of the second intifada . However, all of that has not
eliminated his role in the Islamic discourse. Many Muslims especially young Muslims admire
him. It is not surprising if he has been nominated as one of the top twenty public intellectuals in
the world and also has accepted a number of international awards. For example: he received The
Saudi Arabian Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in Islamic Economics and Banking in 1991 ,
King Faisal International Prize for Islamic studies in 1994 , The Islamic University of Malaysia
award for excellent academic service in 1996 , Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah (Sultan of Brunei) Award

Harry Strains By Jk Rowling Summary
The author J. K. Rowling wrote a book called Harry Potter. He intrigued his audience by having
different uses of imagery. J. K. Rowling describes various different ideas in his book to create
imagery, the tastes and smell of food, sounds from the forest, sights Harry Potter saw at Hogwarts,
and the feelings Harry got from his scar, therefore these are all unlike examples of different types
of imagery. The imagery used by Rowling including senses of taste, smell, hearing, sight, and touch.
The authors writingstories as Indian literature, use many various forms of structure and more to get

This imagery helps readers imagine dark, gross, and scary events. The author, Faiz Ahmed Faiz,
wrote a poem called Three Quatrains, which gives an example, through his third paragraph, of
dark imagery that can be gross, I dip my fingers into my heart s blood, (Faiz 550). By imagining
the hearts blood, one can infer that the person is dying and this shows how this imagery is dark.
Dark imagery also expressed the pain through words, as the author has used pain from the tree
that gives a scary and dark image, This night is the tree of pain, (Faiz 552). Both of the words
night and pain is a start to a horror movie, but it could scare the reader, when they imagine the
same dark place. Dark imagery is also used as a confliction to confuse the readers. In the poem, Be
Near Me, the author contradicts the writing, which may confuse the audience, My tormentor, my
love... darkness comes With the balm of musk in its hands, (Faiz). This confusion between torment
and love is conflicting to be a dark image, therefore, one s mind might ultimately imagine hate.
Imagery is a strong part of Indian and Pakistan literature to ensure the audience is engaged and

  • 2. My Career As A Purpose Of A Zoologist The career I am pursing is Zoology, which requires a degree in Biology. I chose this career due to my passionate interest in wildlife and my personal character. I have not chosen what career branch I would like to partake in because of the numerous options. But that requires additional research that will be sought out during the upcoming years of college. A Zoologist is a person who studies wildlife, the habitat of wildlife and how animals adapt to it. In addition, they also study the behavior of animals, animal characteristics, and how they react to human activity. The purpose of a Zoologist is to experiment, researchand study animals. This could mean in the wild itself or in a controlled area. Overall, Zoologist overlook the large picture of animal communities and how specieswork in life. The skills you need to become a well practiced zoologist are traits I have found in myself. Of course, the interest of researching animas is the most important. But you also need communication skills, a strong logical problem solving approach, keen observation skills, and can independently or as a team. Majority of those skills I possess but could continue to improve on. The profession appeals to me because of my love for animals mostly. I have been interested in animals as a young child and I actually prefer animals over people. I m caring enough to dedicate my time when I m older to wildlife and wildlife projects. What else interests me about animals is how they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. An Evaluation Of An Anterior Cruciate Ligament ( Acl ) Tear An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear occurs in one of the knee ligaments that join the bones of the upper and lower leg, keeping the knee stable. After reconstructive surgery patients need extensive rehabilitation and healing time before even considering any physical activity. ACL reconstructions are common amongst people, it has been difficult for surgeons and physicians to come to an agreement on rehabilitation regarding these patients returning back to health. Many physicians are trying to come to a consensus as to what rehabilitation criteria is necessary and what will most benefit their patients, providing them with a quick, yet efficient recovery. The objective in question, is whether an accelerated approach is more efficient than the traditional rehabilitation techniques. Using an accelerated program has show developmental progress with extreme improvement in flexion of the knee, while bypassing a traditional approaches time span of recovery. As far as traditional rehabilitation goes, studies have shown that there is a significant decrease in re ingury of the knee. Observed in theses four articles, is randomized test that concise a professional opinion on what program physicians find more effective. • 4. The Pros And Cons Of A Hero Superman, Batman, Ironman, Hulk, Thor, etc. These superheroes were all heroes in the world with a superpower; however, in reality a hero is much more than having an amazing superpower. All people have the potential to become a hero, and the traits and actions that make up a hero are inside each and every one of us. Heroes are all around us in both the modern and past world. These heroes are created in many ways, but it doesn t take a risky moment, or it doesn t take saving the world to be a hero. A hero isn t always the strongest human being that risks their life, a hero is someone who makes a positive impact in someone else s life and overcomes challenges. To begin, Bob Riley said, Hard times don t create heroes. It is during the hard times when the hero within us is revealed. This quote proves how a hero faces hard times, and a hero defeats these obstacles that face him or her. In addition, there are many examples of heroes in the modern world. These unique heroes in the world are regular people like you and me. The only difference is, these unique heroes take an extra step and make a footprint in the world. To make this print, there were, and are many situations and natural disasters in the word that help bring out these heroes. For example, during the 9/11 attacks there were dozens of heroes. People from all different backgrounds became a hero saving others lives or having a positive impact in a random stranger s life. One hero during this troublesome time in ... Author Wes Moore wrote the book The Other Wes Moore, both an autobiography and a biography about a man who shares his name and has a similar backstory, to demonstrate how people s destinies are primarily influenced by the environment into which they are born. Because the two Wes Moores had such different friends, they ended up becoming separate people and experienced differing levels of success in their lives. Most people form many of their friendships at school, but even outside of friends, individuals education alters their mentalities. Without a doubt, actions like conquering challenging subject matter and overcoming academic struggles cause some parts of this educational effect, but one s teachers have some of the greatest influence in education. The instructor teaches with a personal worldview, one which will incidentally impact the students. For example, some private schools teach the religion of Christianity, where a living God designed the universe, while public schools are required to teach the religion of evolution, where everything exists due to a chance clash of lifeless chemicals. This disparity in beliefs about the universe s origin fosters strongly opposing ideas about topics such as morals and the meaning of life that are fundamental to how a person decides to handle any given situation. The teacher can also inspire a growth or a fixed mindset in students. Psychology professor Carol Dweck invented this idea of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This civil war also includes the spread and growth of ISIS aka ISIL aka Daesh s influence across the globe and its continued spread of terror against all that oppose it. This briefing is designed to prepare the office of the Executive Chief to make well educated and decisive decisions for potential issues that will present themselves in coming days and over the next several years within the region. The Syrian Civil war has its foundation rooted in civil protest, against the current government led by President Bashar al Assad. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To gain favorable support from the already war tired public, the United States presented the situation in Syria as that of a dictatorship denying basic civil rights to its people, democracy. The United States was trying to support the survival of democracy and to support the oppressed. This explanation provided to the general public to gain favorable support mirrors that of the Vietnam War, where the reason provided was to provide support to South Vietnam to prevent the spread of communism and maintain basic rights of democracy. The United States eventually committed to providing basic support of supplies and armament with very vague objectives in its commitment and limitations of said support. Eventually, advisors would be sent in to provide the rebels with guidance and training to fight the better trained and armed Syrian Government. With the introduction of advisors into the civil war we again see a parallel in this action to that of in the Vietnam War s introduction of advisors. This now placed American personnel on the ground in an active combat zone with the potential of being attacked or caught in the cross fire between the rebels and government troops. The United States escalation of advisors required the Syrian Government to also seek aid and support from other nations that were willing to stand against the United States. This opened the door for Russia, Iran and Hezbollah to back the Syrian Government to deny the United States further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Atwoo Objective: We will determine the acceleration of the weights of an Atwood s Machine, both experimentally and theoretically. We will attempt to verify Newton s Second law which is a mathematical statement relating force, mass, and acceleration. Newton s Second law states that acceleration, a, is directly related to net force, F, and inversely related to mass, m. Naturally this give F=ma. Using the Atwood s Machine experimental acceleration data (for 10 different runs with 10 different combinations of masses) will be gathered and compared to the theoretical acceleration which is predicted by Newton s Second Law using a modified version of F=ma. The only two variables in this system system that we will control are the the two masses. We ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The inversely proportional relationship between total mass and acceleration is also shown in our graph. I took the liberty of plotting the non constant mass by F vs. aexp. Which clearly showed that with an increase in total mass resulted in a gradual decrease of the acceleration of the system. There were several sources of error in our experiment. But none affected the ability for a relationship between mass, acceleration, force to be drawn. The largest error was the one mentioned above. But its source was the easiest to account for. We mis imputed the value of the spoke length into DataStudio. Luckley this mistake was easily remedied due to the design of the pulley. The electronic eye was recording a time that was exactly half of what it should have been. This time data produced an acceleration that was exactly double what it should be. Therefore this was issue was easily remedied by dividing the times by 2. Other sources of error were due to the frictional forces in the pulley system, also the masses of the weights might not have been perfect. Air resistance was a major player when the difference in masses was large, therefore acceleration was high. The weights could have been verified to eliminate that error, and more advanced physics could have been used to take into account the friction of the pulley and the air resistance. ... Beatrice and Benedick as a Couple in William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing Much Ado About Nothing is a Shakespeare play set in Mecina. It is a comedy, about Don Pedro and his friends. The play focuses on the relationships of the characters, especially that of Beatrice /Benedick and Claudio/Hero. The two romances follow two different ideas, one an average romance in Shakespeare s day, the other a not so average romance. Beatrice and Benedick s history together is made clear from the start, when Beatrice tells the messenger bringing news of Benedick s return, that he is no less than a stuffed man , implying that he is very full of himself. This shows right from the start that any romance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This all happens in the first scene, so their relationship is established from the beginning. Hero and Claudio s relationship gets established near the beginning as well. However, this one is much more simple. Claudio comments on how the world cannot buy a jewel as great as Hero, and after Don Pedro woos her for him they are set to get married, without any serious problems. The two main relationships the play focuses on are now set, and the two audiences have different views on them. For an audience today to see Hero and Claudio decide to get married so simply would be boring. However, a Shakespearian audience would see this relationship as ordinary, and not be bothered that it was so simple. Although Beatrice and Benedick are not yet shown as in love, a Shakespearian audience would not have thought it usual for a woman like Beatrice to be speaking as she was about Benedick. However, today it is perfectly normal for Beatrice to be talking like she is, so at the moment, the two relationships are more satisfying to the different audiences. Beatrice and Benedick s relationship has another problem. They both like to use their wit and intelligence to try and outsmart people, and mainly themselves. The chapter ends with the wife of Abram, Sarai, having no children and how they traveled from Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan. Once they got to Canaan, they settled there and lived there. • 13. When Cultures Collide Essay Mergers and acquisitions has become an important part of the American commerce, which communication plays an important role in reducing the negative impacts. While Schweiger agrees that failure to communicate with employees during a merger will increase employee uncertainty and anxiety, he highlights that previous researchers (Napier et al., 1989) did not measure uncertainty nor any of the supposed dysfunctional outcomes said to follow uncertainty. Communication is also suggested by others to be avoided, as it might alert competitors or cause employees to leave an organization rather than endure painful changes (Buono Bowditch, 1989). As opposed to Buono Bowditch s worry that employees will be unable to cope with the change and thus resign, only two employees resigned from both plants, out of the 126 employees employed in the experimental plant and 146 employees in the control plant. Schweiger concluded that communications can help employees cope with the effects of mergers and acquisitions to reduce the negative impacts to the organizational effectives, as should it be left unchecked, it could become costly to an organization and undermine the initial aspects and objectives of the merger or takeover. The case study talks about the proposed takeover of Bushwhacker Mining Pty. Ltd. by Coongan River Ltd. (CRL). This move will put Sydney on the map as a prominent financial centre globally and deepen financial ties prior to the likelihood of the Free Trade Agreement ( FTA ) between Australia and China being signed in November this year. History of relationship A problem of trust The plan for the Australia China FTA was first crystallised in 2003 upon Chinese President Hu Jintao s visit to Australia in October 2003. Australia and China agreed to commence negotiations on the FTA soon after on 18 April 2005, following consideration of a joint FTA Feasibility Study. The study was completed in March 2005, and concluded that there would be significant economic benefits for both Australia and China as the political conditions were mature enough, and because Beijing and Canberra did not have fundamental differences . This study however did not foresee a global financial crisis or stable strength of the Australian dollar and thus the real effect the FTA may have is still unclear. Regardless, China valued Australia as offering first world goods and services without the political baggage that comes with Americans and Europeans. While the FTA negotiations have taken a fitful stop start routine over the intervening years and despite Clive Palmer s recent criticism towards the Chinese suggesting that they were mongrels who shoot their people and haven t got a justice system , Australia s Abbott Government has recognised the importance of Australia s relationship with China. • 15. The Characteristics Of Nurses In The Media In the media, nurses are portrayed as if they are self centered, uncaring, unprofessional, and unintelligent. All of these characteristics are against the CNO standards. CNO standards indicates that nurses should not act how the media has portrayed. They are expected to act and treat their patients with respect and care. It is very hard to find a place where the media portrays nursesare hard working people who demonstrate clinical skill, compassion and diligence. The setting of where nurses work is very often limited. Many shows and movies place nurses usually into hospital settings and disregard places like long term care and home care. The CNO standardfor professionalism that would best relate to confidentiality, leadership and use of social media would be privacy confidentiality. Each nurse is required to follow the CNO s Ethics Practice Standard. Values that are included are client well being, client choice, respect for life, privacy confidentiality, maintaining commitments, truthfulness, and fairness. The media portrays nurses as if they do not respect their clients, they are rowdy outside of their workplace, and share information everywhere. That is opposite of what nurses are really. Every nurse tries their hardest in order to change how the media has presented them. They do not share client information to anyone, anywhere. If they did share, they are automatically breaking the privacy confidentiality value of the CNO Ethics Practice Standard. If every nurse followed the CNO standards precisely and the media acknowledged that then we would be viewed differently. The society forms its opinions based on its own observations. The behavior of some nurses can easily trigger a stereotype for all nurses. The society hears and sees things and that shows them how to think about what they saw and heard. Shows like Scrubbing In would ve never been created if there had been no hints that some nurses behave like heart breakers, attention seekers and fun seekers. Traditionally, nurses were as angelic, helpers to physicians yet low skilled. The media portraying nurses negatively could produce doubt in a patient about whether their information will be confidential or accidentally announced somewhere. Other ... • 16. Martin Luther King Rhetorical Analysis Entitled Hierarchy We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right, petitioned Nelson Mandela. Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. knew the essence of time in Birmingham Alabama, 1963. He brought to his audience ideals of abolishing segregation that thrived in the South and proactively sought to make change. Using a library of rhetorical devices, such as allusions, pathos, and similes, King connected his reader to the things he had to address. King felt it very vital to address the wrongdoing s of the prejudice South. In so, he makes a lot of allusions to religious ideals, to connect these people with their religious wrongdoing. With religious allusions, Doctor king was able to put a new take on segregation. In paragraph 3, he timed this phrase, Injustice anywhere is a threat to injustice everywhere. Making the point, just because in one part of the country there is racism, segregation, prejudice, etc., this could lead to something much worse: Segregation everywhere. Stopping the prejudice now could make a positive impact on future generations, which king petitioned and managed to do. In paragraph 3, king dedicates the entire paragraph to comparing himself to the apostles, carrying the word of God. He uses this to not only compare himself to these prophets, but to show he too will carry his word. King s word is not only of God, but to abolish the old prejudice and segregation of the South; also to go at any length to fulfill this dream. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. My Mother Served As Minister Of Music Eleven years ago I walked into a church. From the outside it looked like your ordinary, everyday church, but on the inside...on the inside it felt like coming home. I went from a young girl wounded by the hypocrisy of well meaning church goers, to a woman on fire for God and ready to step out in my Godgiven destiny as a warrior for the Lord. I have been a believer since the age of seven. I can remember the exact feeling as the Holy Spirit filled me with such longing to be a part of the family of God that I could barely sit still until the invitation to come forward was given. But even before that, I had been in church from infancy. My mother served as minister of music for many years, and church functions were as natural to me as breathing. But it does not take much for the tender heart to be wounded by those that no matter how well intentioned think they know better than God, and manage to impose their judgement and harsh words on others. I was too new to my walk, and too stuck at my traditional faith maturity level, to understand I should not confuse the people of God with the heart of God. I stopped going to church, and, often with the exception of times of struggle I did not even pray. I had no idea the relationship I was missing out on because, you see, the church I grew up in knew the Word of God but they failed to share the heart of God. Therefore, I saw the Lord only as my judge and jury, I did not understand the grace, mercy and goodness of God. I couldn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Junk Food Should Be Banned In Schools Long live junk food, a child s best friend who has stuck with them throughout all these years. Schools are considering to erase these long term companions from a student s educational lives once and for all. The question we are asking here is whether or not this is going to be a choice that is worth it. Junk foodshould not be banned in schools because banning junk food in school cannot guarantee restrictions on junk food outside of school, cutting out junk food greatly decreases school revenue, and the availability of healthier foods does not ensure proper intake of calories. When junk food is banned in school, it does not guarantee a ban everywhere else outside of school. As Radford states, Whether or not junk food is available to them at school may not have much bearing on how much junk food they eat (7). This could be due to multiple reasons. Outside of school, junk food is an inexpensive source that is widely available and any student would have access to them because of how conveniently located they are. Not only are they conveniently placed, they are also served in large portions (Reyman 1). If junk food was banned, these outside locations could then serve as escapes for students from the policies that have been placed. There will also be students who would be exempt from the policies once they are set in stone students who like to pack their own lunch (Jaonick and Cass 17). These students still have the chance to pack the unhealthiest foods from home, giving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For her last test she compared tests of creative analogy generation with the variables of sitting inside, walking on a treadmill inside, walking outside, and rolling on a wheelchair outside. In all of her findings, she saw an increase in creativity following or during the physical activity of walking. The increase in creativity she found was also independent of location of the test, meaning that being outdoors did not help or hinder memory retention skills when compared to results from indoors. This suggests that some physical aspect of walking stimulates the brain s memory system. • 25. Hickory Dickory Dock Analysis Hickory Dickory Dock Nursery rhymes are poems that have an underline meaning. Nursery rhymes were used in a way to relay a hidden message that spoke out against the British government. However, guardians and educators communicated the significance of nursery rhymes to children at a youthful age, asserting that they are critical for them to build up an urge for dialect, syllables, and rhythm. Individuals would think that nursery rhymes were sweet and innocent, but in between those lines was a hidden message that was derogatory. Nursery rhymes originated in Britain roughly around the seventeenth hundreds. Many nursery rhymes were popular poems like Hickory Dickory Dock. Be that as it may, does Hickory Dickory Dock have a mischievous significance behind its snappy tune? Hickory Dickory Dock is a straightforward nursery rhyme about a mouse and a clock. However, it presumably alludes to one of Britain s minimum rulers who showed up on the political scene in the seventeenth century. This nursery rhyme initially published in 1743; yet, is thought to allude to previous events in the earlier century. England was a republic between the execution of King Charles I in 1649 and the reclamation of the government, under King Charles II, in 1660. The continuity of the actual message of the story of the life of Jesus seems, it would be generally agreed, to hinge on the Gospel of Mark being a source for the other Synoptic gospels at least. Much argument has also gone on about the place and time of writing of Mark and how this influences the traditioning or the handing on of the story. How the original written version came to be from the oral process is also a cause for the concern as regards continuity of the story. Was it faithfully translated? Nineham states that Jesus very character was determined by the particular circumstances in which the tradition was handed down. Those who kept it shaped the tradition itself. They had their own motives and beliefs and these have influenced the tradition that has brought out the character of Jesus as we know today (Nineham 1986: 21). This traditioning was a process that began by orally recounting the story at private or public gatherings. The public gatherings being more favoured because preachers or teachers, that is those entrusted with the traditioning process, would have told the story at worship or catechumen gatherings (Nineham 1986: 22). This era is often associated with the advancement of scientific research and arms build up as a result of the competition between these world superpowers, especially through the development of the nuclear bomb. Aside from the actual politics of the Cold War, Joseph Masco, professor of anthropology at the University of Chicago, argues in his novel, The Theater of Operations, that the Cold War provided a psychological platform for the U.S. security state to transform everyday American s perceptions of mass death. Through multiple government operations during the Cold War, the idea of nuclear disaster was presented as an undeniable threat to the American people, and instilled to a certain extent a sense of nuclear fear. Masco believes that the current state of mind in the counterterror state is merely just a continuation of the effects of the Cold War s psychological conditioning. Additionally, Masco argues that the nuclear projects during the Cold War helped initiate the advancement of earth science research. He feels that through the increased knowledge in these fields, the Cold War nuclear projects were linked to environmental concerns. Through these examples, Masco demonstrates his view on how the Cold War has influenced the U.S. cultural understanding of nuclear threats. The sharper the reading skills children have and the earlier they accumulate them will determine how rapidly and how well they will achieve in school. That is why it is very crucial to get students motivated to read at a young age. Research has consistently shown that children who are exposed to reading or who read regularly gather long term benefits such as better academic performance, a mastery of language, better communication skills and more logical thinking, Nevertheless many parents struggle with generating ideas to encourage or motivate their children to read. There are three learning principles that can be used to help parents help their children get motivated to read. Those learning principles are Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioningand Observational Learning. Classical conditioning is the association of two stimuli and thus we learn to anticipate events. Global Energy Consumption And The State Of Infrastructure This essay evaluates the targets of goal seven in terms of measurability, current measurements, and the effectiveness of these targets in the realization of the goal. Measurability To effectively measure improvement on targets 7.1 7.3, source and levels of global energy consumption must be accounted for. These assessment procedures have been carried out for years by national and international organizations such as the International Energy Agency(IEA) or the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). They use indicators (aggregate and disaggregate) in different sectors (transport, commercial, industrial) to estimate trends and evaluate progress (Taylor, d Otigue, Francoeur, Trudeau, 2010). It is also important to gather publications from multiple organizations around the globe to generate well rounded reports from many perspectives. For target 7.a, the volume of knowledge being shared must be measured. This might involve tracking the number of translated publications, international collaborations between institutions and the number of exchanges between researchers. To measure target 7.b, types of energy consumption and the state of infrastructure can easily be documented, but international cooperation is necessary for information to be shared. The 1930 s was hard time for most people who lost their money in the Wall Street crash. John Steinbeck tries to portray how tough life was back then in his novel mice and men. Mice and men also portray how power was abused and the way that it was used in the 1930 s. In the fight scene power is portrayed in many different ways physical power, financial power, collective power, emotional blackmail, status power and people who are disempowered. In this essay I will explore the ways that John Steinbeck presents power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the fight scene Lennie shows that he has a lot a physical power and strength. John Steinbeck uses alliteration in the description where Lennie lets go of his hold he crouched cowering against the wall. He crouched cowering is a brilliant use of alliteration because it adds suspense to the scene they were in and it emphasis the point that he is cowardly and abuses his financial power over the men and tries to use them but fails. These words makes Curley look like the bad guy and reminds us of how over confident he was the first time that George and Lennie met him. In conclusion power is portrayed in many different ways in of mice and men but there are many occasions where people abuse their power in the one scene I have been writing about . This is one of the reasons that life was so tuff in the 1930 s a people didn t have relationships like George and Lennie s. The abuse of power eventually drove George to killing Lennie because he knew what life would be like if he didn t kill him. The power and status of people back then meant the difference of being controlled by someone s abuse of power or controlling someone. I wouldn t like to be on either end because in the end it destroyed the great relationship that two men ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gender Stereotypes In The L Word The L Word in one of the rare examples of a television show that centers itself on characters that fall outside of the straight male hegemony; this is true from the introductory shots of the show. After doing a series of setting establishing shots of LA, the camera pans across a typical suburban street, and image that immediately invokes the idea of the typical mom and with with their kids, American nuclear family. The next scene introduces the first character, a muscular, straight, white, cis manin a white t shirt movie furniture within a room that one would expect to find in such a suburban scene. By allowing the viewer to see this character once again, it gives them a familiar face to identify with. As Mulvey suggests, most visual media is meant for white men to identify with, this type of character gives the short allusion that the television show is going to be this same type of experience: a show directed at straight white men. However, it quickly flips the script on this as the next scene, in which we receive the shows first dialogue, depicts one of the women from the bed, named Tina, standing in front of a mirror, looking at an ovulation test. Mulvey writes about what is called the mirror phase, The mirror phase occurs...with the result that his recognition of himself is joyous in the he imagines his mirror image to be a more complete, more perfect than he experiences his own body. Recognition is thus mislaid with mis recognition: the image recognized is conceived as the reflected body of self, but its mis recognition as superior projects (60). This quote describes a stage of identity in psychoanalysis in which a child first recognizes themselves in a mirror, and can therefore imagine themselves as more than a reflection of their mother s face even though the image is a misrepresentation in it s incompleteness (Mulvey 60). This concept is directly applicable to this scene, as the character standing in front of the mirror represents a stage of identification for the viewer. By seeing the character reflected in the mirror the viewer receives a more complete image of her, is forced into this step of self identification; thus, the audience directly cued that they are supposed to identify with this character, rather than the male character that was shown ... We see many colors showing symbolism some of this colors are green, yellow, white, red, and gold. I am going to talk about the color green and how the author showed its impact and symbolism throughout this novel. These coloroften can be associated with people from the novel, for example the greencan be associated with Gatsby, the red can be associated with Myrtle, yellow and white can be associated with Daisy, and blue can be associated with T.J. Eckleburg. This symbolic colors give great importance to the novel and it entertains the reader with this symbolic meanings throughout the novel. Green is the color of spring, which symbolizes confidence, vitality and hope. In the Great Gatsby, the color green is closely associated with the green light at the end of Daisy s dock. It symbolizes Gatsby s deep love to Daisy and his American Dream. But as the green light is always feeble and far away, it also indicates the disillusionment of his dream. In other words, the green light symbolizes hope. It symbolizes hope because, Gatsby sees this light as the hope of him and Daisy being together at one point. It shows Gatsby s love towards her because you can see how he really feels about her when he tries to grab the light by stretching his arm as far as he can. This shows how Gatsby desperately tries to get Daisy s heart but her heart is too far away from him. This light also signifies how close he is to Daisy, he think he can just grab her of how close he think he is to her, but this can also be a disillusionment to his dreams because the light is always distant and far from him and he will never grab it just like he could never have Daisy. Throughout this novel we can see Gatsby s affection towards this light, this light is very important and we see it being reference back and forth throughout the whole book. This color made the novel more vivid, more colorful, more dreamlike, more visionary and more profound. It helps the reader connect with the book. There are many ways in which Iranian cultural expectations are different from the western cultural expectations. They are different in regards to citizens rights and gender norms. According to Farhad Kazemi article in the Iran Chamber Society, an important difference between the Islamic world and the West in regard to citizenship rights is how these rights are formally categorized. In the West, non gender based citizenship is the norm, even though in practice, full and complete citizenship rights and equality are not always the case. In the Islamic world, however, the norm is to grant different categories of people different citizenship rights. The regular occurrence of fires can keep one plant community dominate, like oak savannas. An area that was burned will re grow, grasslands will be green the next growing season and forests will typically show new growth soon after. The heat of a fire has many effects on the properties of a soil. The effects are not the same for every soil type because it depends on what is present in the soil before the fire. In my paper, I will be exploring different types of alterations a soil may undergo as a result of a fire. The three main areas I am going to look at are; change in color and structure, hydrophobic properties after a fire, and the alteration in nutrient cycles, in particular nitrogen. In conjunction with what changes occur to the properties of a soil, I will also be looking at management practices that can lessen the undesirable changes in soil. Effects on soil color and structure In heating most substances, change in color and texture or structure occurs, this generally holds true in the case of soils. A. L. Ulery and R. C. Graham (1993) did a study on how fire alters both color and texture of soils. The color of the burned soils tended to redden in hue and have higher chromas and values after burning, than did the unburned soil of the same type (Ulery and Graham, 1993). One reason that the color changed is most likely due to the translocation and transformation of nutrients and minerals in the soil. As the soil burns the heat alters individual minerals in the soil.
