Examples Of Format A Resume
1 Format your resume. It is vital to make the right first impression to your prospective employers
because the first thing that will jump into their sight is how well organized your resume is. In most
cases, your resume will not get a thorough reading at the first time no matter how well written.
Therefore, it is a good idea to make your resume attractive and readable by formatting. There are some
useful tips for you to format your resume. First, keep your resume short and simple. Most people do
not need more than two pages unless you have extensive related skills and experience. Second, invite
employers attention by using wide margins and a logical format. A logical format contributes to the
effect of the overall design and wide margins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3 Make your content shine. The description of your education and work experience is the core of your
resume, which is also the section that employers will mainly focus on. Therefore, making your content
interesting and descriptive will enable your resume to stand out from competitors. Here are some ways
that can help your resume gets noticed. First, use active voice and expressive verbs to describe the
specific things that you have done. These can highlight your ability and skills, and spice up your
resume to make it stand out. For example, if you were an administrative assistant, you might want to
use words such as scheduled and coordinated . You can use them by writing Scheduled and
coordinated appointments. Another good way to make your content shine is to put more emphasis on
your achievements and accomplishments. By emphasizing the results you have delivered with specific
facts and highlighting the ways you have added value in the past, you will be able to demonstrate your
ability and skills for solving problems with convincing evidence. The last effective way is to choose a
descriptive title for your previous job position. For instance, instead of saying you were a secretary,
say you were an administrative assistant. In addition, think about how well the title can describe the
job. For example, manager is a vague concept

Case Analysis On Brainiac University Law School Essay
Case #1 Case one is based on Nesbitt, who graduated from Brainiac University Law School. He
applied for a job at Dewey, Getem and Howe , and was granted an interview. Dillan Dewey, who was
part of the interviewing process, was so impressed with Nesbitt s overall interview that at the end they
shook hands and he stated We are very impressed with you young man! How would you like a
position with our firm? To which he replies I d be honored! . After the interview, when Nesbitt was
leaving the office, a conversation concerning the upcoming provincial election. The firm was closely
connected to the People s Party, and thus did a vast amount of work for that party. Where as Nesbitt,
was never one to shrink from political debate , supported the Freedom Party. Which lead to the men
became immersed in a political discussion . Leaving the office, Nesbitt was concerned about where he
now stood with the law firm after their heated discussion. One week after the interview he received a
letter informing him that although he impressed them, the could not hire him because of his strong
affiliation with the Freedom party . Also, stating that if they were to hire him they would stand to lose
upwards of 50% of our valued clientele, should we begin courting ties with the Freedom Party. The
first, and most obvious course of action that Nesbitt is likely to try and take would be to sue for
discrimination. They denied him a job that he had an extremely successful interview for, and

Day and Night through a Mother s Eyes Essay
In Alice Walker s Everyday Use the reader is introduced to three main characters, a mother and her
two daughters. The first daughter, Maggie, still lives at home with her mother and is her companion.
Dee, however, moves on with life and goes out to make something of herself in the world. The story is
an account of one of Dee s visits, but the narrator, the mother, makes a very obvious comparison
between Dee and Maggie s looks, intelligence, behaviorism, and values. The reader has a lesson to
learn since the story is told through the mother s eyes. It is amazing that two siblings can grow up in
the same environment and turned out so differently. Dee and Maggie are like day and night, each with
her own strengths and weaknesses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although she is jealous of her sister, Maggie more admires her than anything. It is, however, upsetting
that the narrator never suggests Dee has any admiration or respect for Maggie or herself, for that
matter. The story never even suggests that Dee feels sorry for Maggie, instead it can be interpreted that
Dee just looks down on her sister, as she does the rest of her family.
The reader can also learn about the girls from how they treat others. Just like everything else, they are
opposites. Dee would always look anyone in the eye. Hesitation was no part of her nature (92) while
Maggie walks chin on chest, eyes on ground, feet in shuffle (94). Mama also knows that while her
sister is there Maggie will be nervous and stand hopelessly in corners, homely and ashamed of the
burns scars down her arms and legs (92). While Maggie has always felt inferior, Dee seems haughty
and kind of has a superiority complex. Dee is also implied to be manipulative. Dee would read to her
mother and Maggie knowing it was literature beyond their comprehension just so she could show off.
She used to read to us without pit; forcing words, lies, other folks habits, whole lives upon us two. She
washed us in a river of make believe, burned us with a lot of knowledge we didn t necessarily need to
know (94). The phrase She read to them is repeated when talking about Dee around her friends and
boys that wanted to date her (95). However, in this context, it is hardly

Phillis Wheatley Letter To General G Washington Summary
In Phillis Wheatley s letter to General G. Washington, she discusses her admiration for America.
During the beginning of the Revolutionary War, Phillis Wheatley decided to write a letter to General
G. Washington, to demonstrate her appreciation and patriotism for what the nation is doing. Wheatley
speaks in a patriotic tone, in order to address General Washington and show him how important
America and what it stands for, is to her. Wheatley uses personification, tone, and diction, so that she
can prove her loyalty to the U.S. and also to her appreciation for a wise leader such as General
Washington. First, Wheatley uses personification to emphasize her fidelity to the U.S. and what it
symbolizes in her eyes. Wheatley states, The goddess comes, she moves divinely fair (Wheatley).
When Wheatley mentions the goddess Columbia, she is personifying the U.S, because the goddess
Columbia was an important image created very early on. The goddess Columbia was established
shortly after Christopher Columbus discovered the New World. Wheatley was saying that like the
Goddess Columbia, America was also just and known for its liberty. She uses personification in order

Wheatley not only speaks highly of the U.S, but she understands how important General Washington
is, and how she needs to inspire him to continue what he is doing. She knows that a great patriotic
letter can boost his confidence. However, she is also being proper because she was taught to speak in
such a manner to higher authorities as an African American woman. In the name of the poem she
sends to the General, he is called your excellency, because she respects his position and authority.
Enough thou know st them in the fields of fight (Wheatley). She is discussing how he receives praise
on the battlefield. Wheatley recognizes that Washington receives a lot of praise, and that her letter

Assess The Difference Between Globalisation And...
Deindustrialisation in London Over the past 50 years, the UK s employment structure has changed in
line with the Clark Fisher Model. 50 years ago, the UK s secondary sector was of fairly high
importance with 38% of people employed in it, but since 1960, it has been in decline with the UK
experiencing deindustrialisation. In 2010, only 18% of of people were employed in the secondary
sector while 80% of people were employed in the tertiary sector. The main reason for this is
globalisation. Since goods can now be transported a lot easier, many companies prefer to hold their
manufacturing units offshore in LEDCs such as China, India, Bangladesh etc. Land and labour in
these countries are a lot cheaper, allowing more goods to be manufactured ... Show more content on

This would result in the government needing to spend more on social security for these workers.
Additionally most of these people would need to be re trained and re skilled to perform other tasks.
This would again require a large amount of funds to do so.Sheffield used to be UK s steel industry
until the 1980s when the industry declined dramatically with deindustrialization. As a result of
industrialisation 120,000 people lost their jobs between 1971 2008, a 74% loss. On the other hand the
deindustrialisation of Sheffield has improved the water and air quality in the area. During the
industrial period the factories would expel large amounts of industrial waste and exhaust fumes. Since
these industries have shut down no waste is being dumped into the waters and the air quality has
improved as there are no exhaust fumes being released. In addition old industrial sites are now
available for regeneration to be made into apartments or shopping centres. These are known as
brownfield sites. In conclusion deindustrialisation in UK has both its positive and negative effects.
The movement toward the tertiary and quaternary sector has allowed the country s economy to grow
drastically over the last few year. It has also allowed the carbon emissions to reduce and water quality
to increase. Due to these factors the quality of life and standard of living for many people has also
risen in the last few

my study I have developed and grown more than I thought possible. Business Case Analysis has not
only given me great experience, but also helped me boost my skills and knowledge through the
semester through interactive learning and teamwork. In this course, I have learned how to approach a
problem, particularly in business sector, while also professionally maintaining collaborative work in
teams. This reflection will firstly analyse my experience in solving cases, and as I go along, I
recognized my strengths and weaknesses from my team members and myself. After that, I will discuss
my skills that have developed during the course and its impact to my future career as business
practitioner. At the end of the reflection, further improvement of the course will be considered. I
remember the first and second class, the feeling of being hit with the harsh and abrupt reality that I
need to work absolutely hard this semester. But at that time, I was not afraid. Instead, I feel challenged
and enthusiastic for what I need to overcome in this subject. I read several cases from international
case competition and compare the best solutions from the winner of that competition, with an
intention to be more prepared for the first case. For the first case, our group faced a difficult challenge

An Antagonist Of Vitamin And Its Effect On The Formation...
All three of the drugs being studied do to some degree affect fundamental processes within a
coagulation cascade .
If one of the in vivo processes is altered within the cascade the cycle cannot complete with the
formation of Thrombin. [Figure 2]
Warfarin is an antagonist of vitamin K used to treat reoccurrence of DVT and pulmonary embolisms.
Stenflo Nelsestuen, 1974 showed prothrombin the precursor to thrombin to contain a number of
glutamate residues relating to the amino acid γ carboxyglutamic acid (Gla). Antagonism in the
production of this residue by Warfarin is the key reason for its anticoagulant action and is shown in
red in [Figure 1].

Enoxaparin is a parenteral low molecular weight heparin used in the treatment of venous
thromboembolisms. (Hirsch et al, 2001) Its mode of action is to increase the rate of antithrombin
(ATlll) a suicide substrate for proteases. Inhibition is brought about as protease cleaves select Arg Ser
peptide bonds in the centre becoming fixed in a stable 1:1 complex. This in turn renders (Factor Xa)
which sits at the junction of the extrinsic and intrinsic pathways inactive. This further disrupts the
cascade cycle as Xa can no longer separate prothrombin into the desired thrombin needed for fibrogen
formation.
Apixaban is an oral reversible medicament taken primarily for prevention of stroke and systemic
embolisms for those with atrial fibrillation. It is used commonly in post operative orthopaedic surgery
(AHFS, 2014). Similarly to Enoxaparin, Apixaban is a direct inhibitor of Xa and follows the same
process of inhibition as Enoxaparin.
Both Enoxaparin and Apixaban affect the coagulation cascade much later on in the mechanism than
that of Warfarin and thus have a faster onset of effect: Enoxaparin (Tmax)= 15mins and Apixaban
(Tmax)= 1 3 hours, with Warfarin (Tmax)= 24 48 hours. (BMA, 2008) This is particulary useful in
emergencies to prevent further clotting when a clot has already reached the lungs or brain for example.

Oskar Schindler Hero
When you think of a World War II hero, you might think of a soldier who fought for his country and
our freedom. Of course, anyone who fought in World War II should be considered a hero but there are
many non military heroes from that time too. Oskar Schindler is one of those people. He was a
German industrialist, a spy, and member of the Nazi Party who is responsible for saving 1,200 Jews
lives during the Holocaust by giving them jobs in his enamelware and ammunitions factories.
Schindler was born April 28th, 1908, into a Sudeten German family in Zwittau, Moravia, Austria
Hungary. His father was Johann Hans Schindler, who owned a farm machinery business. His mother
was Franziska Fanny Schindler. He had a sister named, Elfriede, who was born in 1915. After

in 1924 for forging his report card. He later graduated, but did not take the Abitur exams that he would

The Invention Of Torture In Medieval Time
The word torture comes from the Late Latin tortura, which is a past participle of torquere. Torture is,
in law, defined as the infliction of severe bodily pain; either as punishment, or as a means of receiving
a confession. There are millions of ways to torture someone, to inflict pain until the person becomes
unhinged mentally, until finally they give you what you want; however, I will only be explaining a few
devices and methods. The Rack, although used in medieval times, was not invented in that era. It
invented in 1420, by the Duke of Exeter, John Holland. Several types of the rack existed, one being
the version that the Duke made and introduced, and were used; however, they were all designed
similarly. The ankles of a sufferer were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tarring and Feathering was a physical punishment to enforce formal justice. Tarring and feathering

of feathers. They were often paraded around town on a cart or rail; the purpose being to cause pain and

American Culture Vs Vietnamese Culture
The United States and Vietnam have almost opposite cultural systems under Hofstede s cultural
dimensions. There are four main categories which is a power distance, uncertainty avoidance,
masculinity or feminine, and individualism or collectivism. Vietnamese has a high power distance
when the US have much lower power distance. For instance, they respect others by their ages because
of their culture. Usually an elder man is the most powerful person in a family and a decision maker.
Parents didn t used to allow to speak up anything from their children and also some physical violence

They don t call other s name without Mr. Ms. in Vietnamese. Even for younger people, they have a
word for it. They have very interesting verbal communication style which is they avoid to say no in
their conversation because it would be disrespectful. For instance, if someone invites you to a party
and you won t be able to go, but still you should say yes at the moment. Even if they said yes, they
might not show up. The host won t get mad or upset in a situation. In their culture, it s better for them
just not showing up with yes answer instead of saying no in person because they want to keep their
face positively. They highly use an indirect communication method. Indirect communication method
is common culture in Asia. Still, yes answer which means no would not be acceptable in Japan.
Vietnamese also avoid to correct others mistake or praise only one person in front of others. They rely
on more non verbal communication than vernal communication. Men use handshake and bowing
slightly, but women are not very comfortable to handshake with a man, but it has changed for a
younger generation. It s not necessary to have eye contact like the US. They don t also use hand

The functionalists approach explains or support the idea that each part is important for the progress
and function of the society as a whole. The Interactionist Perspective mainly focuses in the individual
actions with each other in a daily basis and what their actions means. The emphasis on everyday
behavior is the focus on Interactionist perspective which offers two explanations of crime; Cultural
Transmission and Routine Activities Theory. (Schaefer, 2010, p175) Cultural Transmission could be
interpreted as the way that humans passes their culture and set of values from one generation to next
one within a society, since the culture is something that is learn through the interaction of individuals
in social situations. Cultural transmission does not have anything to do with genetics instead it is the
way in which people interact with others. The term Differential Association was used by Edwin
Sutherland to describe the process through which exposure to attitude leads to the violations of rules
Research also adds to non criminal deviant acts such as smoking, truancy and early sexual behavior
(Schaefer, 2010, p175). For instance, if a girl meets with other girls that demonstrate bad habits like

The Issue Of Substance Abuse Essay
It is well known that any form of substance use can be fatal, but so can a lot of other things: choking,
accidents, health issues, and sheer bad luck. However, there is something special about substance
abuse fatalities from substance use are considered preventable. Take deaths associated with driving
under the influence of alcohol, lung cancer brought on by smoking, or heart attacks associated with
cocaine use. A person could die in a car crash, from lung cancer, or a heart attack without ever
touching alcohol, cigarettes, or cocaine respectively. However, there is an increase in death associated
with these items. The most curious part of this is the legal versus illegal categorization of substances.
According to the Center for Disease Control, tobacco is considered the leading cause of preventable
death (CDC, 2016). Yet, not only is it legal, a person in the U.S. can purchase cigarettes as young as
18, which is three years earlier than the legal age to drink alcohol. This knowledge leads to questions
about addiction and prevalence of substance use. Besides being readily available and highly addictive,
are there other factors in the use and abuse of legal substances and are they good indicators of illicit
drug use? There is clear evidence to support that children, adolescents, and adults learn and emulate
what they see on television. The American Academy of Pediatrics has done research and come to the
conclusion that the causes of adolescent substance use are

Evolution Of Jazz And Blues. The Music Styles Of Jazz And
Evolution of Jazz and Blues The music styles of Jazz and Blues are both considered to be great
American musical art forms (Covach, 2015). These styles are also two very important roots of music
and have evolved from the late 19th century and early 20th century to lead to the development of
Rock and Roll. Jazz and Blues both originated from African American communities when slaves were
brought over to North America from Africa (Schuller, 1986). As time passed and the culture of
America was constantly changing, so was the music of that time period. The country was starting to
recover from slavery and many Caucasians and African Americans were beginning to emerge in the

The Classic Blues were established by female vocalists like Ma Rainey, Mamie Smith, and Bessie
Smith (Ferris, 2009). The Urban Blues were basically the Delta Blues but enhanced with electric
guitars (Covach, 2015). This form of Blues helped to spark the Great Northern Migration. This
migration resulted in many African American musicians moving north to escape slavery and find
better jobs (Covach, 2015). A few of the artists that we get in the Blues genre are B.B. King, Muddy
Waters, and Bo Diddley (Ferris, 2009). These artists began producing music that followed the twelve
bar form and mimicked the call and response style of old field hollers (Covach, 2015). The Blues
paved the way for the up and coming form of the Jazz genre called Rhythm Blues and eventually it
will lead to the creation of Rock Roll. The Blues had an influence on many of the bands and artists in
the Rock Roll era. One of the most famous being The Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones are a British
band that rose to fame during the British Invasion in the United States (Covach, 2015). They have
referenced The Blues as being a huge influence if their music.

Relationship Between Elphaba And Glinda
Stacy Wolf s main argument is that the Wicked was about queer romantic relationship of Elphaba and
Glinda that why the young generation connected with it. Stacy compare Wicked to movies and TV
shows that teens loves. She mention how Wicked went even farther that just portraying women as
powerful and friendship by a queer romance between Elphaba and Glinda.
One evidence is when she bring expert opinions of the Scholars of musical theatre and film and also
gay/lesbian/queer studies to use their research of the multiple ways in which musicals signify queerly.
Then she determine that the logo of the dresses and their position is evidence of queerly between
Elphaba and Glinda. (Page 5)

Methodological And Practice Based Evidence Based Practice
Methodological Issues While there are many people that think that evidence based practice and
practice based evidence should stay the way that they are. If you took both of these and used them
together it could provide the appropriate treatments and meet the needs of the patients. Evidence based
practice and practice based evidence play a big part in the treatment of a patient and their mental
health. Evidence based treatment would be a lot better if the research was focused on each patient and
what their needs are. There a many mental disorders that require different treatments and most of them
are evidence based, but this does not look at each patient individually, and there a many people with
health problems that could use both of the research and evidence to help them get better. Evidence
based practice and practice based evidence are a big part of a treatment process. These two can
provide appropriate treatment that is needed to make advances in health care practices. Having enough
evidence helps people determine whether to do something or not. To provide the best possible
treatment for each patient you have to take information and see what will work best for each of your
patients. Some will work and some will not work. Methodological issues can arise with in any type of
research and some are more controversial than others. In the article Practice Based Evidence: Back to
the Future (2011) the point of view was that research comes from evidence and that

How Did Paul s Culture Influence Greek Culture
The influences on Paul s Jewish background and the Greco Roman Culture. Per Hawthorne, Paul, one

Henry Ford Biography
Henry Ford was born July 30, 1863 in Dearborn, Michigan. Ford had a knack for putting stuff together
from an early age. When he was thirteen he received a pocket watch, he then proceeded to take it
apart, and then reassemble it. People heard about his skill with watches, and started asking him to fix
theirs. He even made his own tools out of nails, and a corset stay. When he got a little older he got a
few boys together to build simple water wheels and steam engines. He gained a lot of his knowledge
about steam engines by becoming friends with the men that ran them.
When he was 16, he realized farming just wasn t for him, and left home to become an apprentice to a
machinist who manufactured railroad cars. He quickly realized that he didn t ... Show more content on

together a group of businessmen to help him with this. He learned how to do everything he did by
using trial and error. His experience with his new business was the same way, but with this method
comes failure which Ford soon learned. He didn t give up easily though, the more he failed the bigger
the risk that he wanted to take. Which is why he began building, and driving race cars. This brought
just the right kind of attention in from the right kind of people. A few tries later and, Ford established
his own company in 1903, Ford Motor Company. In 1907, he created a four cylinder, known as the
Model N. It was $600, and soon became the best selling car in America. That wasn t enough for him.
He wanted to make a better, cheaper vehicle, in 1908 he released the Ford Model T. This model was
made with nine different body styles. Soon, half of all the cars in America would be the Model T s.
Later, the company would move to a bigger factory. He wanted to increase production and lower cost.
He began observing many different kinds of jobs, and combined the ideas he got from them with his
own, and soon got the idea of a moving assembly line for automobiles. He wasn t the first to think of

The Benefits Of Genetic Engineering
The article is based on the fact that microbes are capable of changing carbon dioxide into biomass. In
most cases, the organism derives energy from sunlight, photoautotrophy and also from inorganic
electronic donors, chemolithoautotrophy. It is by this that the authors claim that the potential for this
organism to be used for the large scale industrial production of biofuels and other useful chemicals
remains largely untapped. The employment of genetic engineering to augment the autotrophic host s
productivity pathways offers hope for improved and increased productivity. Other techniques entail
the transfer of the processes to heterotrophic organisms.
Autotrophic production is said to be more efficient as a source of fuel than that from ... Show more

This has given rise to microbial electrosynthesis where chemolithoautotrophs are used to generate
chemicals and biofuels are generated from electron donors. Non carbon electron donors include H2,
Fe2+, NH4 and all are produced and mobilized by electrical energy.
A suitable host physiologically, genetically and biochemically forms the basis for efficient autotrophic
production. The heterotrophs Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae have so far been ideal.
However, these organisms will have to be transformed to full autotrophs using sophisticated and
complex engineering methods. The use of mixotrophy where autotrophs systems are incorporated into
heterotrophs seems to give better outcomes.
The natural photoautotrophic microorganism is categorized into oxygenic and anoxygenic groups.
Oxygenic photoautotrophs such as Cyanobacterial Synechocystis species and Synechococcus species
have been used in conjunction with metabolic engineering to produce isobutyraldehyde, l lactic acid
and 2,3 butanediol. Eukaryotic microalgae such as Chlamydomonas reimnhardtii can produce lipids
and alkanes. Oxygenic photoautotrophs possess water splitting oxygen producing photosystems.
These systems can produce reducing power and a proton gradient for ATP energy production.
The photosystems of anoxygenic photolithoautotrophic microorganisms cannot split water. They rely
on inorganic electronic donors to generate reducing power. An example is Rhodabacter

Research Techniques Including Research Design
Introduction A sample is a set of data drawn from the population, it is considered as a subset.
Populations are defined as the set of all items or individuals of interest. Samples are less time
consuming than a census, less costly to administer than a census and it is possible to obtain statistical
results of a sufficiently high precision based on samples. There are two types of sampling techniques,
probability and non probability sampling. Probability Sampling A probability sampling method is any
method of sampling that utilizes some form of random selection. In order to have a random selection
method, you must set up some process or procedure that assures that the different units in your
population have equal probabilities of being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That does not mean that non probability samples do not represent the population. But it does mean
that nonprobability samples cannot depend upon the rationale of probability theory. At least with a
probabilistic sample, we know the odds or probability that we have represented the population well.
With nonprobability samples, we may or may not represent the population well and it will b difficult
to find out to what extent. We can divide nonprobability sampling methods into three types:
convenience, judgement or quota. Most sampling methods are purposive in nature because we usually
approach the sampling problem with a specific plan in mind. The most important distinctions among
these types of sampling methods are the ones between the different types of purposive sampling
approaches. Convenience sampling occurs when the sampling units are selected to suit the
convenience of the researcher. Respondents are included in the sample if they happen to be in the right
place at the right time. In a study on employment practices in the textile industry, a researcher may
find it more convenient to interview employees within one clothing manufacturing company, instead

Analysis Of Doctored Vision By Wole Soyinka
Doctored Vision is an extract from Wole Soyinka s collection of poem Mandela s Earth and other
poems (1988). The poem is originally written in English. Politically, the 80 s were historical and
monumental to Nigerians. There was a major economic crisis (National Economic Emergency in
1986) due to military coups, extensive dependency on oil for income and unemployment. A writer is
always affected by the political environment around them. So was Soyinka. Stories emerge from a
place going through severe crisis and change. Doctored vision is a narrative style poem. The
protagonist, an aging poet, goes to a Doctor to correct his vision. While the tests are being performed,
the poet struggles to see the letters. Baffled at first, the Doctor is ... Show more content on

The Theme The poem juxtaposes two concepts of Science and Magic. We see the medical jargon such
as, Myopia, Astigmatism, Bi Focal, prescription and transplant are used. Then again, the word magic
is used by the doctor himself when he cannot explain the poet s condition. Science and Magic are
looked at as contradicting disciplines. No one would expect a Doctor to describe a condition as
magical. Science is orderly, tested and researched. Magic defies logic and reason. Soyinka skillfully
weaves them into one another. The poem feels more magical than scientific. Since the protagonist is a
poet, it is possible Soyinka is talking about his views. Not only this is about magic or science, it is
about perspective. The poet like Soyinka can see mundane and normal things in a poetic way. That
makes him different from other people. If looked at with a postcolonial perspective, the mistrust of the
poet in the doctors can also reflect how the elderly generally are skeptic of modern treatments. They
are also usually content with placebos. Scientist are often portrayed as curious and sinister
experimenters; they want to experiment on a patient rather than treating them. The Setting The entire
poem is set in the Doctor s clinic. A clinic can seem like a scary place; an omen for something bad.
Indication of a year or a country are not given. Which leaves it open to interpretation. Since Soyinka is
Nigerian, it is difficult to read the poem without associating

What is the probable genetic causation of excessive cardiovascular disease in the Family pedigree
presented? Are any lifestyle issues causing an exacerbation or alleviation of this disease?
An assessment of a pedigree tracking as much assessable patient information to 4 generations was
completed. The assessment was undertaken to see if a discernable genetic abnormality and/or trait
may be responsible for the excessive cardiovascular disease in this particular family. Also where ...

The higher associated levels of Lp(a) the more increased risk of disease at an early age.
Lp(a) being a known autosomal dominant genetic trait the expected familial pattern would be around
50% as it is in this family. Some family members may be avoiding disease from various interventions
and lifestyle choices such as niacin therapy, weight loss, and physical activity as well as lack of
concomitant disease. Discussion
The pedigreed family shows an excessive portion of family members with cardiovascular disease
(coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease) in one half of the
subjectssubject s lineage. The paternal side of the target subject has a sibling, first cousin, uncle, three
great uncles, two aunts and great great grandfather with some form of cardiovascular disease. The
maternal side has only a grandfather with cardiovascular disease. If the trait in question Lp(a) were
autosomal dominant one would expect around a 50% gene expression in the studied group. Nine of
twenty in this particular lineage currently show or have shown disease and two subjects are unable to
assess (UTA). This would suggest autosomal dominant inheritance in the paternal half of the target
subject lineage with a suspected two subject incidence yet to be found or attributed.

Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Gap Among Working Women
Critical Analysis Template
PRINCIPLE:
The gender pay gap is defined as a discrepancy in the average level of wages, salaries, and income
received by two group, such as men and women (Lawrence Weber, 2014, p. 548).
There is a 21% pay gap between women ($0.79) and men ($1.00). Full time working women are paid
79% of their male counterparts pay (AAUW, 2016).
Pay gap grows as worker age, is in public sector work, and widen among married workers than singles
(Plantenga Remery, 2006). The gender pay gap effects women in almost all fields of work and in all
racial or ethnic categories (Lawrence Weber, 2014). Pay inequality also negatively affects the families

Movements for Social Change in an Integrated Global...
Income inequality between the rich and the poor continues to be a significant concern in the United
States, prompting national headlines and serious political debate regarding governmental policy.
Historically, economies based on capitalism tend to have a pro business stance, implementing pro
business policies to spur economic growth (Zinn, 2010). The typical role of the labor union has been
to help improve economic equality between workers and the companies that employ them; however,
unions have also helped their members pursue political action and influence the electoral process to
achieve their aims as well (Hodson Sullivan, 2008). Beyond unions, non governmental organizations
also pursue political action to address broad social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, child labor produces goods in sweatshops located in developing countries; goods that
make their way into the supply chains of major multinational retailers (McDougall, 2008). In addition,
when work moves to developing countries, there is an impact on the workers in developed countries
that lose their jobs to lower cost labor pools; namely costs that are transferred to the public sector like
unemployment or retraining for workers (Bibby, 2004). To more effectively deal with issues raised by
multinationals operating in an integrated global economy, there are a growing number of international
labor organizations including UNI Global Union, a global union that represents 900 trade unions and
20 million workers ( UNI Global Union, 2011). There are several advantages in using a global,
federated approach to labor unions, namely a larger pool of workers that provide the basis for union
influence, greater coordination on issues that span national boundaries and the resulting ability to
influence the policy and business decisions of large multinationals. The most significant disadvantage
to a global, federated approach to unions is the increased scope and complexity of problem that arises
from the requirement to represent a large diverse constituency with diverse needs. For instance, in the
case of outsourced jobs, the recipients of new jobs may not

Opera Buffa Genre
Opera buffas break the stereotype that other operas had set. The plots follow common folk rather than
heroes and noblemen. They incorporated comedy as an essential element to the plot and connotation
of the opera. At first, intellectuals hated this. They believed it broke tradition and made opera look
impractical. As time went on, critics and general audiences began to accept opera buffas. There was a
lot more depth to comic operas than some would believe. I aim to look at the opera buffa and how the
emergence of this sub genre may or may not have contributed to the opera genre. I specifically look at
three different sources to that contribute towards opera buffa; The Culture of Opera Buffa in Mozart s
Vienna: A Poetics Entertainment written by Mary Hunter, Francesco Izzo s Comedy Between Two
Revolutions: Opera Buffa and the Risorgimento, 1831 1848, and finally an article by Caryl Clark
titled Reading and Listening: Viennese Frauenzimmer Journals and the Sociocultural Context of
Mozartean Opera Buffa. By looking into these three specific sources, audiences can fully understand
opera buffas and what kind of ideologies they represent.
Mary Hunter s book, The Culture of Opera Buffa in Mozart s Vienna: A Poetics Entertainment,
discusses Mozart s opera buffas that were performed in Vienna from around 1770 to 1790, the height
of opera buffas success. Hunter investigates the connection that forms between the different works of
opera buffa and the audience. She explores the idea of

Chapter 2:
1. This was an example of Folkways because in the first segment of the eight, the natives showed
talked about how they do stuff in their island. While they were talking about coming to the U.S., I saw
the way they were all dressed by only covering their groin area and having the rest of their body
exposed especially their buttocks. Even the women only had their groin area cover not even the breast
area was cover. While they were getting ready to come to America, they realized that they would have
to wear clothes to cover their whole body and they were not use to that and the other natives were
laughing. This is part of a Folkway because it shows the way their culture is and how they live day to
day. 2. This is an example of Non material Culture because in all the segments, you can see that when
the Natives talk about how they have chickens and a few pigs that they own and that they feed off of
the plants or stuff that they grow in the garden. Their custom idea that they have in their culture is to
have joy and peace and love. 3. This is a example of Cultural Diffusion because when the Natives
arrive to the ranch in Montana that they will be staying at for a while in segment 2 and 3, they see how
the couple in Montana has different cultural elements than they do because the women just don t do all
the cooking, the men also help out the grown women told

How Did Marie Curie Contribute To Research
The pair were both very dedicated scientists and at first worked on separate projects. Marie was very
interested in the work of a French physicist named Henri Becquerel. He discovered that uranium casts
off rays. Marie Curie took Henri Becquerel s work a little further and conducted experiments on
uranium rays. She discovered that the rays remained the same despite the condition or form of the
uranium. This idea created the field of atomic physics and Madame Curie invented the term
radioactivity to describe the occurrence. Later, in 1897, Marie and Pierre had a daughter. The birth of
their daughter didn t slow down their work. In order to help Marie with her exploration of
radioactivity, Pierre decided to put his work aside. In 1898 they both discovered a new radioactive
element. They named it polonium in honor of Marie s country, Poland. The pair also discovered the
existence of another radioactive material in the pitchblende, they named it radium. In 1902, the pair
announced that they made a decigram of pure radium and demonstrated its existence as a special
chemical element. In 1903 Marie Curie made history when she became the first woman to receive the
Nobel Prize in physics. She won the award along with Pierre and Henri Becquerel. The award was

  • 5. Day and Night through a Mother s Eyes Essay In Alice Walker s Everyday Use the reader is introduced to three main characters, a mother and her two daughters. The first daughter, Maggie, still lives at home with her mother and is her companion. Dee, however, moves on with life and goes out to make something of herself in the world. The story is an account of one of Dee s visits, but the narrator, the mother, makes a very obvious comparison between Dee and Maggie s looks, intelligence, behaviorism, and values. The reader has a lesson to learn since the story is told through the mother s eyes. It is amazing that two siblings can grow up in the same environment and turned out so differently. Dee and Maggie are like day and night, each with her own strengths and weaknesses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although she is jealous of her sister, Maggie more admires her than anything. It is, however, upsetting that the narrator never suggests Dee has any admiration or respect for Maggie or herself, for that matter. The story never even suggests that Dee feels sorry for Maggie, instead it can be interpreted that Dee just looks down on her sister, as she does the rest of her family. The reader can also learn about the girls from how they treat others. Just like everything else, they are opposites. Dee would always look anyone in the eye. Hesitation was no part of her nature (92) while Maggie walks chin on chest, eyes on ground, feet in shuffle (94). Mama also knows that while her sister is there Maggie will be nervous and stand hopelessly in corners, homely and ashamed of the burns scars down her arms and legs (92). While Maggie has always felt inferior, Dee seems haughty and kind of has a superiority complex. Dee is also implied to be manipulative. Dee would read to her mother and Maggie knowing it was literature beyond their comprehension just so she could show off. She used to read to us without pit; forcing words, lies, other folks habits, whole lives upon us two. She washed us in a river of make believe, burned us with a lot of knowledge we didn t necessarily need to know (94). The phrase She read to them is repeated when talking about Dee around her friends and boys that wanted to date her (95). However, in this context, it is hardly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Deindustrialisation in London Over the past 50 years, the UK s employment structure has changed in line with the Clark Fisher Model. 50 years ago, the UK s secondary sector was of fairly high importance with 38% of people employed in it, but since 1960, it has been in decline with the UK experiencing deindustrialisation. In addition old industrial sites are now available for regeneration to be made into apartments or shopping centres. These are known as brownfield sites. (Hirsch et al, 2001) Its mode of action is to increase the rate of antithrombin (ATlll) a suicide substrate for proteases. Inhibition is brought about as protease cleaves select Arg Ser peptide bonds in the centre becoming fixed in a stable 1:1 complex. This in turn renders (Factor Xa) which sits at the junction of the extrinsic and intrinsic pathways inactive. This further disrupts the cascade cycle as Xa can no longer separate prothrombin into the desired thrombin needed for fibrogen formation. Apixaban is an oral reversible medicament taken primarily for prevention of stroke and systemic embolisms for those with atrial fibrillation. It is used commonly in post operative orthopaedic surgery (AHFS, 2014). Similarly to Enoxaparin, Apixaban is a direct inhibitor of Xa and follows the same process of inhibition as Enoxaparin. Both Enoxaparin and Apixaban affect the coagulation cascade much later on in the mechanism than that of Warfarin and thus have a faster onset of effect: Enoxaparin (Tmax)= 15mins and Apixaban (Tmax)= 1 3 hours, with Warfarin (Tmax)= 24 48 hours. There are millions of ways to torture someone, to inflict pain until the person becomes unhinged mentally, until finally they give you what you want; however, I will only be explaining a few devices and methods. The Rack, although used in medieval times, was not invented in that era. It invented in 1420, by the Duke of Exeter, John Holland. However, there is something special about substance abuse fatalities from substance use are considered preventable. Take deaths associated with driving under the influence of alcohol, lung cancer brought on by smoking, or heart attacks associated with cocaine use. A person could die in a car crash, from lung cancer, or a heart attack without ever touching alcohol, cigarettes, or cocaine respectively. However, there is an increase in death associated with these items. The most curious part of this is the legal versus illegal categorization of substances. According to the Center for Disease Control, tobacco is considered the leading cause of preventable death (CDC, 2016). Yet, not only is it legal, a person in the U.S. can purchase cigarettes as young as 18, which is three years earlier than the legal age to drink alcohol. This knowledge leads to questions about addiction and prevalence of substance use. Besides being readily available and highly addictive, are there other factors in the use and abuse of legal substances and are they good indicators of illicit drug use? There is clear evidence to support that children, adolescents, and adults learn and emulate what they see on television. The American Academy of Pediatrics has done research and come to the conclusion that the causes of adolescent substance use are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The heterotrophs Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae have so far been ideal. However, these organisms will have to be transformed to full autotrophs using sophisticated and complex engineering methods. The use of mixotrophy where autotrophs systems are incorporated into heterotrophs seems to give better outcomes. • 30. Opera Buffa Genre Opera buffas break the stereotype that other operas had set. The plots follow common folk rather than heroes and noblemen. They incorporated comedy as an essential element to the plot and connotation of the opera. At first, intellectuals hated this. They believed it broke tradition and made opera look impractical. As time went on, critics and general audiences began to accept opera buffas. There was a lot more depth to comic operas than some would believe. I aim to look at the opera buffa and how the emergence of this sub genre may or may not have contributed to the opera genre. I specifically look at three different sources to that contribute towards opera buffa; The Culture of Opera Buffa in Mozart s Vienna: A Poetics Entertainment written by Mary Hunter, Francesco Izzo s Comedy Between Two Revolutions: Opera Buffa and the Risorgimento, 1831 1848, and finally an article by Caryl Clark titled Reading and Listening: Viennese Frauenzimmer Journals and the Sociocultural Context of Mozartean Opera Buffa. By looking into these three specific sources, audiences can fully understand opera buffas and what kind of ideologies they represent. Mary Hunter s book, The Culture of Opera Buffa in Mozart s Vienna: A Poetics Entertainment, discusses Mozart s opera buffas that were performed in Vienna from around 1770 to 1790, the height of opera buffas success. Hunter investigates the connection that forms between the different works of opera buffa and the audience. She explores the idea of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Chapter Questions On Non Material Culture Catrina Parrott Christopherson Jolene Sundlie Chapter 2 and 4 Homework Assignment September 22nd, 2014 Chapter 2: 1. This was an example of Folkways because in the first segment of the eight, the natives showed talked about how they do stuff in their island. While they were talking about coming to the U.S., I saw the way they were all dressed by only covering their groin area and having the rest of their body exposed especially their buttocks. Even the women only had their groin area cover not even the breast area was cover. While they were getting ready to come to America, they realized that they would have to wear clothes to cover their whole body and they were not use to that and the other natives were laughing. This is part of a Folkway because it shows the way their culture is and how they live day to day. 2. This is an example of Non material Culture because in all the segments, you can see that when the Natives talk about how they have chickens and a few pigs that they own and that they feed off of the plants or stuff that they grow in the garden. Their custom idea that they have in their culture is to have joy and peace and love. 3. This is a example of Cultural Diffusion because when the Natives arrive to the ranch in Montana that they will be staying at for a while in segment 2 and 3, they see how the couple in Montana has different cultural elements than they do because the women just don t do all the cooking, the men also help out the grown women told ... • 33. How Did Marie Curie Contribute To Research The pair were both very dedicated scientists and at first worked on separate projects. Marie was very interested in the work of a French physicist named Henri Becquerel. He discovered that uranium casts off rays. Marie Curie took Henri Becquerel s work a little further and conducted experiments on uranium rays. She discovered that the rays remained the same despite the condition or form of the uranium. This idea created the field of atomic physics and Madame Curie invented the term radioactivity to describe the occurrence. Later, in 1897, Marie and Pierre had a daughter. The birth of their daughter didn t slow down their work. In order to help Marie with her exploration of radioactivity, Pierre decided to put his work aside. In 1898 they both discovered a new radioactive element. They named it polonium in honor of Marie s country, Poland. The pair also discovered the existence of another radioactive material in the pitchblende, they named it radium. In 1902, the pair announced that they made a decigram of pure radium and demonstrated its existence as a special chemical element. In 1903 Marie Curie made history when she became the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize in physics. She won the award along with Pierre and Henri Becquerel. The award was towards their work on radioactivity. Both Marie and Pierre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
