Frederick Douglass s Response To The Abolishment Of...
At first, Frederick Douglass was apprehensive about speaking in front of a large audience on slavery,
but once he gathered his courage, he received a warm welcome. This encouraged Douglass to speak
freely for the abolishment of slavery. He felt addressing the overall principle was more pertinent at
that moment than the solutions to end slavery.
Since British Christians were directly affiliated with the British, Douglass first thought their
opposition to slavery might hinder efforts to abolish slavery given their close ties. However, Douglass
later changed his views, as he thought given the prevalence and severity of slavery, it would take the
influence of England to help combat slavery, as their dominance rose above any authorities in the ...

He suggested that slaves should question why they should obey their masters aside from being
commanded to do.
Douglass told the group about the outcome of Sambo, a slave who was disobedient and did not
complete his work within two and a half hours as directed by his slave owner. As a result, Sambo
received lashings from his slave owner. Douglass contrasted this with reasons why obedience is
necessary in the words of slave owners. In other words, if slaves wanted to be well fed, cared for, and
receive favors from their masters, then they should be obedient. However, in Sambo s example, he
took a nap and was given a lashing, which is quite the opposite of being well cared for or receiving
favors.
Douglass discussed how owners sought to convince slaves why they should obey their masters. Slave
owners informed their slaves that the Lord brought them to the Christian country to experience the
kingdom of heaven because the Lord saw their desperation in Africa, as they worked intensely to
make ends meet. According to slave owners, the Lord empowered Bishop Newton to take the slaves
from Africa to relieve them from their despair. In return, owners expected the slaves to be thankful and
obedient to their slave masters for being in the Christian country, as they would not have the
opportunity to enter the kingdom of heaven without

Short-term Memory Affects Color Perception in Context...
Short term Memory Affects Color Perception in Context The purpose of the experiment was to study
the effects of short term memory on perceptual observations, determine whether there is actually an
independence between color memory and surface color assessment, and to discuss the differences
between perception and memory characteristics. Another goal of this study was to estimate surface
reflectance of an object from a general measurement of incoming light signals and figure out how it
affects memory with realistic scenes and tasks. Perception is defined as the ability to see, hear, or
become aware of something through senses and memory is defined as the faculty by which the mind
stores and remembers information. Both of these are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our brain relies on spatial frequency, bistable figures, motion direction, and structure from motion to
help aid in the determination of surface color, scene complexity, and context color. All of those plus
previous knowledge about encounters can affect how the brain stores the information. The interaction
implies that during information processing, memory and perception must be studied jointly. There are
three steps that our brains take in order for us to make a decision based on the task given to us. Step
one consists of a person observing both surface reflectance and illumination. Step two happens when
the background color dominates the observes illumination based on spatial length. Step three, the
person will use prior experiences of reflectance and illumination. Step four takes step three, but
compares and updates the observation based on whats being displayed in the trials. This allows the
observer to make a precise conclusion. One major issue that arose during this study was bias.
However, in this case, more bias indicates better consistency. Bias was defined as PSEcondition
PSEbaseline. Positive biases showed a shift toward bluer hues and a

The Age Of The Robot Warrior Machine
The age of the robot warrior machine is looming, and it will represent monumental changes in the
future conduct of war. Increased precision and decreased risk make the automation of warriors
politically and militarily attractive. Government and military leaders will have to address the
numerous moral and ethical questions about when, where and how to utilize these lifeless soldiers. To
answer similar questions in the past, many leaders relied on the military theory from the Prussian
theorist Carl Von Clausewitz book On War . Even though his theories have proven helpful in the past,
can the ideas written in the 1800 s, truly be useful when applied to such drastic changes in the future
conduct of war?
Clausewitz military genius is immutable. Even though his writings are almost two hundred years old,
the application of Carl Von Clausewitz theories on war are relevant for today and in the future.
Technological advancements will present unique challenges, but as long as the true nature of war
remains unaffected, his paradoxical trinity will continue to provide visionary insight and value to
future leaders attempting to address wars most difficult questions. The distinction between absolute
vs. real war and his theories on the relationship between war and politics, and the concept of friction
remain timeless. What we are really dealing with is another change in the character of war which
Clausewitz has helped leaders deal with in the past and will again in the future.

Negative Impression And Negative Impressions Essay
Fpositive impression and negative impression. Positive impressions are known as an impression that
results in accumulating dirt underneath the sole of the shoes and then depositing on a clean surface.
Negative impressions are known as impressions that are made by clean shoe stepping on a dirty
surface, thus removing dust from the surface where the shoe sole made contact (1, 4). In figure 1, you
can see the footwear impression on a hard surface and soft surface resulting from positive and
negative impressions. The first area of comparison is the design on the outsole that is produced, but
there are thousands of outsole designs that are being produced. The details on each sole vary from
each other and each design has different sizes. Meaning, different types of shoes are made with a
different style of an outsole and each size has its own outsole design, which gives further distinct
characteristics to the outsole design even if the shoe is in the same size. The resulting physical
differences in the size and shape qualities of the sole is of additional comparative usefulness in
connecting or disassociating scene impressions with suspect s footwear. In case, if a shoe has a plain
outsole, then the physical size and shape is taken into account and can still associate the suspect by
comparing it with the impression lifted off from the crime scene. In contrast, if a shoe s outsole has a
design, physical size and shape can be taken into account to compare the impression with the

A Research Study On Business Research
CHAPTER 3
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
1. Introduction
Business research is considered as a truth seeking function that collects, analyses and reports
information which enables decision makers to become more effective in their decision making
(Alvesson and Deetz, 2000). Conducting primary research is inevitable as far as the aim of this
research is concerned. However it is vital that the right kind of methodology be adopted which helps
the researcher to achieve the research aim properly. In the selection of right methodology, this study
seeks to identify the possible ways by which a research of this nature can be conducted and the
reasons behind the selection of particular philosophy, methods, data collection, sampling and analysis
techniques.

This in fact enabled the researcher to select the philosophy which best suits to achieve the research
aim. Saunders et al. (2000) state that two views pertaining to philosophy dominate the literature. They
are positivism and phenomenology. They add that both of the philosophies are important as far as
business and management research is concerned. It can be found that Saunders et al. (2009) divided
the research philosophy into different clusters. They are positivism, interpretivism, pragmatism and
realism.
1.2.1 Positivism
The positivistic approach is the traditional approach of the natural scientist. This approach is
considered as independent and also objective where research is undertaken in a value freeway and
only the observable phenomena provide credible data (Saunders et al. 2009). Therefore in positivistic
research the influence of the researcher on research is kept at the minimum possible way and the
instruments and methods used for this should be enabling the researcher in this regard. The
methodological underpinning of survey research and experimental studies is positivism. Scientific
rigour of doing research is thus one of the characteristics of positivistic research (Jupp, 2006).
Easterby Smith et al. (2012) state that positivist methods is usually based on the assumption that there
is the presence of true

H.G. Wells Novel The War Of The Worlds Successfully Creates A Thrilling Climate Of Terror Which
Often Reflects Late Victorian Insecurities. Discuss This Statement With Reference To The Purpose
And Craft Of The Author 1994 Words H.G. Wells novel The War Of The Worlds depends upon late
Victorian insecurities to generate a thrilling climate of terror. Wells feeds off of the politics at that
point in time, the ethics and beliefs of his contemporaries and also the sense of false pride and
arrogance that white Victorians had considering that they were top of the natural selection hierarchy.
He produces this climate of terror not only through the content of his writing, but by his use of
language, structure and imagery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many Britons feared this idea of a technologically advanced war at the time, as Britain was in a naval
race with Germany. Germany was challenging Britain s navy because Britain s navy was the best in
the world, and one of the main causes of Britain having such a vast empire. Britain were aware of the
envy that Germany had, and were therefore fearing the fact that Germany may be secretly planning a
war, much like the Martians silently planned an attack on Earth. Wells also wrote about Victorians
losing their faith in religion and the church. Some Victorians believed that god was punishing them as
a world war was looming and some even doubted his existence, as there was no proof for it. To
illustrate this, Wells created the curate as a highly religious character who had faith in god and also
questioned why god had brought this war upon them. The following quote illustrates this, when the
curate said The end! The great and terrible day of the Lord! When men shall call upon the mountains
and the rocks to fall upon them and hide them hide them from the face of Him that sitteth upon the
throne! . This may have been an attempt by Wells to voice his opinion, saying that

In learning about The Beatles over the past few months, I have gained great appreciation for them as a
band. Particularly, I really enjoyed learning about and listening to the many love songs written by The
Beatles. It was a difficult task to choose just three songs to write about, however I chose the three
songs I enjoyed most. They are each love songs from a different era of The Beatles work throughout
their years. I Should Have Known Better , Michelle , and Dear Prudence have all left great
impressions on me. I Should Have Known Better was issued on the B side of A Hard Day s Night in
1964 (Wikipedia, 2016). It was composed by Lennon was released on July 13, 1964 as a single along
with A Hard Day s Night as the Soundtrack to the film also called A Hard Day s Night, which was
released on July 10, 1964 (Wikipedia, 2016). This song was one of many inspired by Bob Dylan as we
learned he left quite the impression on the Beatles, especially Lennon. This inspiration led Lennon to
write more meaningful lyrics (Benitez, 2016). It is easy to understand why this song was popular
reaching the top Billboard charts at number 53 as Lennon s harmonica playing skills are capturing
(Wikipedia, 2016). The song opens with Lennon playing the harmonica and it has a very upbeat, light
tune and melody. This song is the first song since I m a loser including the use of a harmonica

There s A Certain Slant Of Light And William Blake s London
Emily Dickinson s There s a certain slant of light and William Blake s London are two poems that
contain the same theme about despair, yet express that theme very differently. Both poems contain the
theme about how despair causes people to be trapped in a constant cycle of pain and loss, and that
there is no way to break this cycle. The way that the author expresses this theme is very different.
Dickinson s poem presents despair that seems to come from heaven, and with this despair her life has
no meaning. Blake s poem presents despair only through people in society, and that despair comes
from oppression and confinement. These two poems are similar in that they express the theme of how
despair corrupts all, yet they differ in how they present despair in society and provide an insight to
how each author view the world. Both There s a certain slant of light and London contain the central
theme that despair corrupts the mind, and makes people believe that their lives have no meaning.
These poems tell how outside forces oppress society, and that these forces continually beat down the
people into making them feel worthless. This feeling of worthlessness expressed through the speaker
of each poem. Each poem expresses the belief that society cannot escape this feeling of despair, and
that there is no hope for a better life. Both poems create this theme through their dark settings of
hopelessness and misery. The setting in each poem reinforces that there is no escape

Descriptive Essay On Horses
I have been riding horses for 5 years and over the course of the five years, I have ridden at 3 different
barns and ridden nineteen different horses. I have finally found the horse love of my life and found the
best friends anyone could ever ask for at the last barn that I find myself there as much as I can and
spend almost everyday I have there in the summer. The horse I am currently riding is the craziest but
one of the sweetest horses you ll ever meet. This past year me and Stormy competed in the waupaca

friends and it s not a memory to forget like playing in the corn pit with Kendra and Carlee and finding
out me and my horse are really good at pole bending.
The course of our show was five days horses got there on Wednesday and left on Sunday. But our
show day was friday. On wednesday me and my mom had to work the 4 H food and didn t get done
until like 2:00 PM and had to rush to get my brother from his friends house and rush over to Connie s

time we got there it was like 5:30 . Than got everything organized and rode until it was dark out. The

Symptoms And Treatment Of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Today, there are many diseases people have to deal with. Some of them are treatable and some of them
are permanent. One of the visible autoimmune diseases is vitiligo. Vitiligo occurs when melanocytes
die or stop producing the pigment that gives a skin, hair, and eyes color. When people have vitiligo the
skin becomes whiter, and it usually occurs on skin on both sides of the body. The exact trigger is not
known but it relates to immune system to attack, destroy the melanin forming cells because of the
family history, sunburn, stress, or exposure to chemicals. It can happen at any age but usually occurs
before the age 20. In the article For Vitiligo Patient, Arthritis Drug Restores Skin Color from June 24,
2015 says that a medication for treating rheumatoid arthritis has given the color back to the skin in a
patient with vitiligo. It is reported that steroid creams and light therapy are not as effective in reversing
the pigmentation. Yale investigators decided to use FDA approved medication (Janus kinase
inhibitors). The patient was given tofacitinib, before this medication the patient s white spots were
increasing. After two month the results were seen, patient had repigmentation on the face, arms, and
hands. After five months, this white spots were almost gone; the patient had only several white spots
left on the body. There were no negative results seen using tofacitinib. The scientists believe that this
could be a breakthrough in the treatment of vitiligo. Brett

The Mistreatment Of Animals In Tolkien s Middle Earth
Just like Yavanna s words of defending nature and punishing wrongs, the Ents are roused by the
mistreatment of the trees and march upon Isengard to take on Saruman. They destroy Saruman s dam
in the River Isen, subsequently putting out his forging fires. I find it imperative to take note that
characters who love and respect trees and nature are on the side of good; those who cause harm to the
trees of Middle Earth are on the side of evil and typically do so for the sake of industry. Typically
peaceful and wise, not very drawn to adventures or wars, if they are roused they can be terrible and
they will fight fearlessly to protect the trees and forests. So it was in the War of the Ring, where the
least expected stroke that fell on Saruman was given by the Ents who flooded Isengard and revenged
their dead kin, trees that Saruman had fallen and thrown into the fires of Isengard. ... Show more

among everyone and there is cooperation among them. The same cannot be said of the evil beings of
Middle Earth. For characters such as Saruman, nature is a tool to further his needs; this is the only

Changes in Web Standards
Throughout the last decade web developers have been experiencing changes in Web Standards as well
as a different markup language called HTML5. HTML5 a markup language used for structuring and
presenting content for the World Wide Web. HTML, or Hyper Text Markup Language forms the
backbone of almost every site on the internet. The most important technologies right now are HTML

language today, it has many advantages and disadvantages when it comes to web development.
HTML4, the last major iteration of the language, debuted in 1997 and has been subsequently poked
and prodded so that it can handle the demands of the modern Web (O Brien). In order for web
developers to fully understand the meaning behind HTML5, throughout this article I will be

milestones that everyone must encounter one of the largest and most important ones is the teenage
stage of people s life. During our teen years we usually figure out who we are and who we want to be.
Do you want to be the gamer who stays home all day and play video games or go out with friends?
Some people would rather spend a beautiful weekend inside playing video games instead of going out.

Impulsive And Immature In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare characterizes Romeo s character to be both impulsive and
immature in things that include love and things that don t include love. Romeo s rash behavior and
hasty decisions are one the reasons for the downfall of Romeo and Juliet. Despite Romeo and Juliet
both being the heirs of two enemies, they fall in love rather quickly, forgetting hardships that would
come, proving that it s better to think before you act. Before Romeo meets Juliet, he is in love with
Rosaline, so much so that when she rejects him, he mourns for her, acting unhappy and downhearted.
As a result of that, he creates a depressed environment around him as Montague says, Shuts up his
windows, locks fair daylight out, and makes himself an artificial night (1.1.142 143). Revealing just

United States and the reactions of Turkey s against that policies will take part in this paper.

The Soviet Union and the United States, after World War II, began a military competition. The Soviet

Also The Truman Doctrine was the first message that America prepared to global leadership and also
this doctrine shows that the isolationism policy of America has ended.
The Truman Doctrine
At the present moment in world history nearly every nation must choose between alternative ways of
life. The choice is too often not a free one. One way of life is based upon the will of the majority, and
is distinguished by free institutions, representative government, free elections, and guarantees of
individual liberty, freedom of speech and religion, and freedom from political oppression. The second
way of life is based upon the will of a minority forcibly imposed upon the majority. It relies upon
terror and oppression, a controlled press and radio, fixed elections, and the suppression of personal
freedoms. I believe that it must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are
resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures. I believe that we must
assist free peoples to work out their own destinies in their own way. I believe that our help should be
primarily through economic stability and orderly political process.
President Harry S. Truman, March 12, 1947
After this policy United States of America started to apply three main missions. These missions are;
1) Try to provide military, economic and political stabilization of Europe.
2) Cover the Europe

Alternate Ways of Measuring Performance Essay
Balanced Scorecard Alternate Ways of Measuring Performance Abstract
Many organizations are usefully viewed as a web of relationships between and among various
stakeholder groups. An organization may be defined as a nexus of contracts, where said contracts are
relationships that are marked by contributions from the various stakeholders in return for inducements
provided by the organization. Over the long haul, the success of an organization is a function of the
extent to which the needs and requirements of its various stakeholders can be integrated and balanced,
without sacrificing any one to the other. There is, in this arrangement, mutual influence and
accountability. It is the main thesis of this paper that many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A successful balanced scorecard implementation must also incorporate a communication mechanism,
which allows management to communicate its strategic vision and goals to the employees, who, in
return, can also report their processes and progress back to management.
Multidimensional Architecture
Since an organization is composed of multiple levels, a scorecard must support different levels and
perspectives from strategic business units and divisions, to departments, teams and individuals. To
accommodate this architecture, the scorecard is structured as multiple, aggregated cubes. Each layer a
nesting of the ones below. In general, the highest level cube defines the measures and dimensions that
apply to the corporate level, and these drill through to divisional and departmental cubes that have a
more detailed level of information (Nickols, 1999). This artery of the cubes lets the strategy
communicate down the organization, while performance is aggregated up through the organization
like blood through vein.
Cubes are an ideal vehicle to implement a hierarchical architecture. You can have both logical and
physical separation of the data; i.e., data can reside in one cube where different views are offered to
different users, or alternately data can be maintained in completely separate cubes. In cases where the
data is inconsistent, it may be allocated to provide managers with more

Literature In The Canterbury Tales By Geoffrey Chaucer
Middle Ages Essay Literature in the Middle Ages is very different from the literature today, most
stories back then were written in a style called Medieval Romance and were often about chivalry and
morals. These stories were also written as poems and often had rhymes within the text. One story
written back then was The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, it s about a group of people on a
journey to Canterbury and along the way each character tells a story, each with its own moral.
Although these tales were written back in the 14th Century, many of its morals still hold up to this day,
specifically the Pardoner s Tale , the Nun s Priest s Tale , and the Manciple s Tale . The moral of the
Pardoner s Tale was that money and greed is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unsurprisingly the fox is tricked by this and opens his mouth enough for Chanticleer to escape. This
shows that the fox s pride caused him to starve that night and probably get killed by the rest of the
pack as a sacrifice to the Food Gods. Pride can make people say and do crazy things, just look at
North Korea, they have militaristic and power hungry manchild as a dictator who believes he is a God
and that he can destroy the U.S., as a result the entire country is starving and under heavy surveillance.
People in power will do anything to keep their ego high and have people below them to rule. The
lesson of the Manciple s Tale is to not spread gossip as it will eventually lead to conflicts. The tale is
about a man named Phoebus whose wife is having an affair with another man. One day his white crow
sees this man with his wife and tells Phoebus By a man of little reputation, one not worth you, in
comparison, not even worth a gnat, by my life! for on your bed I saw him have your wife. (149 152).
This angers Phoebus and leads him to kill his own wife, afterward he feels remorseful and turns his
crow black as a way to punish him. Gossip spreads around controversy and can eventually lead to
death, as it is in the Manciple s Tale. This type of thing happens all the time in the modern times
especially in High School, people hear rumors and gossip about others, in serious cases it could end in
fights or worse. Although The

The Minister s Black Veil
How can a pair of eyes bring death to its owner? How can a black veil bring alienation to its wearer?
These are examples of the power of symbols. The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe and The
Minister s Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne both use symbols to convey the dark human nature,
which is a Gothic motif. Also, the symbols are representative of Gothic tradition because they relate to
elements like dark settings, supernatural events, a gloomy mood, and unexplainable mysteries
(Harris). Through the utilization of symbolism along with Gothic elements, both The Tell Tale Heart
and The Minister s Black Veil explore people s dark side and their reactions toward fear; thus
revealing the underlying themes. To begin with, the eye in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pyramidal Cells (PC)
Pyramidal cells(PC) are the source of excitatory input to the cortex, similarly the granule cell in the
cerebellum, core and matrix thalamocortical cells in the thalamus, and by STN in the basal ganglia.
GABA is responsible for keeping a tab on excitatory activity in the brain and prevent the occurrence
of a seizure (9). The process of surround inhibition occurs at every station(i.e. in the spinal cord,
brainstem, thalamus, somatosensory cortex) for discriminative active touch and is regulated by GABA
interneuron. These interneurons allow only the strongest input to go through resulting in precision and
make it possible for two distinct points stimulated on the skin to be interpreted by adjusting the
effective receptive field size(23).This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The inhibitory control is provided by basket cells which are GABA ergic. The GABA release is
activated by incoming glutamate activity (7). Inhibition mediated by basket cells is enhanced when
excitability increases during preparation prior to movement(motor set)(7). Basket cell activity helps
control the output of PC and describing the discharge pattern of these cells. Double bouquet
cells(DBC) are responsible for restricting the activity of minicolumn and preventing a spread of
activity(7). They also inhibit basal and apical dendrites of the CM cell (7,11). Top down influence
mediated by thalamocortical connections and cortico cortical connections result in activation of local
GABA ergic interneurons and glutamatergic neurons, inhibition of the basket cells/chandelier/DBC
results in disinhibition of the CM cells leading to the conversion of No Go to Go (7). The position of
DBC enables its role in controlling the horizontal influence of overlapping PC(7). Recent studies
indicate critical role of inhibitory interneurons located in L1 a)single bouquet cell which inhibits local
interneuron that has an effect on dendrites, soma, axon hillock of L5 pyramidal cell but not the
pyramidal cell itself(disinhibition effect on few PC) and b) Neurogliaform cells inhibition of apical
dendrites of numerous PC(widespread inhibition)(7). The disinhibition circuit is established in the

Why Go Tankless
Why Go Tankless? There are two basic types of water heater storage and tankless. They both work as
their names imply. With a storage water heater, the water is kept and heated on site in a tank. The
water in the tank is kept hot continuously by a heater. As you might guess, once the tank is empty it
can take some time for it be full of hot water again. A storage water heater does have some advantages
at first glance, but these are all minor or eradicated over time. For instance they are cheaper to buy and
install but this saving is soon lost due to higher energy costs. That need to always keep and great big

This is the big one. You ll save a lot of money with a tankless water heater. It uses much less energy

arguments over somebody using all the hot water. Cold showers aren t fun. Long hot showers are. *
Constant water pressure. Storage heaters start out with good pressure but as the tank empties the
pressure can drop. Tankless heaters offer constant pressure. * Less physical space * May qualify for a

disadvantage with tankless and that is they are a little more expensive to buy and install. But since that

The Effect of World War II on the Lives of People at Home World war two was officially started with
the invasion of Poland, September 1939 where the British being an ally of Poland and disagreeing

It managed to involve most of Europe and Asia, America, Canada, Australia, Africa. Debatably more
the 30 million perished as a direct result of the war and generally it was the war that the world
collectively lost more in than any other through out history. Not surprisingly it was proclaimed to be

Organisations like the local defence volunteers, first aid post and the home guard provided people
with opportunities to help the community in the times of trouble. Many communities rallied together
for church and town hall meetings in order to discuss the organisation of blackouts and the suitable

people of air attacks by going through their street and shouting the message. The war opened new
opportunities for women, who suddenly realised they could be independent and faced responsibilities
like earning money for the family and being in control. The government still did not treat women
equally and were reluctant to give them jobs, but they realised they needed the extra employees so
paid them 2/3 the men s wage, most women accepted their duties and many jumped at the chance to

The Tragedy of Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe is a timeless figure, known for her sensual yet innocent charm. Her platinum blonde
hair continues to be a popular trademark today, with other celebrities continuing to imitate her. She is
the image of Hollywood and American perfectibility. However, she was not just a beauty queen who
seemingly had the world wrapped around her finger. She was also a vulnerable woman, who severely
struggled with mental illnesses, neuroticism, and high expectations. Marilyn Monroe is an epitome of
a tragic hero, as she was the victim of a downfall caused by irreparable flaws. Monroe was born as

These titles may sound flattering to some, and maybe at times she enjoyed them. But her restrictive
Hollywood image only seemed to add to her insecurity and troubles. The sexual glorification of
Monroe stems from the constant exploitation that she has described from her earlier days in the

a not too smart sex symbol and would fight a very hard but ultimately losing battle to get the public to
believe that she was smarter (and less man hungry) than the women she portrayed on the silver screen
( Ten Things You Might Not Know About Marilyn Monroe. ). But why did a part of her also accept
this? Why did she have this overwhelming need to satisfy the same people who held her down? She
feared disappointing the public who put her on this pedestal and seeming imperfect. She was said to

Critical Analysis Of The Heart Of Emily
The story is divided into five sections. In section I, the narrator recalls the time of Emily Grierson s
death and how the entire town attended her funeral in her home, which no stranger had entered for
more than ten years. In a once elegant, upscale neighborhood, Emily s house is the last vestige of the
grandeur of a lost era. Colonel Sartoris, the town s previous mayor, had suspended Emily s tax
responsibilities to the town after her father s death, justifying the action by claiming that Mr. Grierson
had once lent the community a significant sum. As new town leaders take over, they make
unsuccessful attempts to get Emily to resume payments. When members of the Board of Aldermen
pay her a visit, in the dusty and antiquated parlor, Emily reasserts the fact that she is not required to
pay taxes in Jefferson and that the officials should talk to Colonel Sartoris about the matter. However,
at that point he has been dead for almost a decade. She asks her servant, Tobe, to show the men out.
In section II, the narrator describes a time thirty years earlier when Emily resists another official
inquiry on behalf of the town leaders, when the townspeople detect a powerful odor emanating from
her property. Her father has just died, and Emily has been abandoned by the man whom the townsfolk
believed Emily was to marry. As complaints mount, Judge Stevens, the mayor at the time, decides to
have lime sprinkled along the foundation of the Grierson home in the middle of the night. Within a
couple of weeks, the odor subsides, but the townspeople begin to pity the increasingly reclusive
Emily, remembering how her great aunt had succumbed to insanity. The townspeople have always
believed that the Griersons thought too highly of themselves, with Emily s father driving off the many
suitors deemed not good enough to marry his daughter. With no offer of marriage in sight, Emily is
still single by the time she turns thirty.
The day after Mr. Grierson s death, the women of the town call on Emily to offer their condolences.
Meeting them at the door, Emily states that her father is not dead, a charade that she keeps up for three
days. She finally turns her father s body over for burial.
In section III, the narrator describes a long

The Similarities And Differences Of Basketball Vs....
There are many similarities and differences between pro basketball and college. There are many
different rules between pro and college level. The NBA consist of 32 professional teams, but the
college level has 347 division 1 schools that develop players and make them grow into being a
professional athlete. When coming out of high school, you get to choose what school you want to play
for. Most athletes pick the biggest school with the biggest fan base. That way these players will be
noticed and scouted before going pro. The professional level is completely different because you enter
the draft. You don t get to choose where or who you play for after the draft. There are so many
differences and similarities between the two. A difference between the two are that in the NBA you
can foul six times before fouling out but in the NCAA you get only 5. Fouling out results in you sitting
on the bench for the rest of the game without playing but just watching. In the NBA after five fouls the
opposing team is put in the bonus, but in the NCAA it takes seven fouls to be put into the bonus. The
bonus for the NBA is when you get fouled you get two free throws. In the NCAA you get a term
called One and one . It s where you shoot one free throw and make it you get a chance at another, but
if you miss the first shot you don t get another shot. The tenth foul in college basketball results in the
double bonus where you will be allowed to shoot two free throws in a row even if you miss one.

Misconceptions Of Depression Essay
Depression can present itself in many ways depending on the person it is effecting. The most
commonly known symptoms of depression are persistent sad moods, loss of interest or pleasure in
activities, change in weight or appetite, difficulty sleeping or oversleeping, agitation, loss of energy,
feelings of worthlessness or unneeded guilt, difficulty thinking or concentrating, and thoughts of death
or suicide. A common misconception is that all people with depression are suicidal. While there are
many cases of suicidal thoughts in sufferers of depression, not every person with depression has
suicidal thoughts. The type of depression one is diagnosed with depends on how many of the
symptoms the person is showing. Major depressive disorder, also known as unipolar major depression,
is diagnosed if the patient has five or more of the symptoms during a two week period. Bipolar
disorder, also known as manic depressive illness, is diagnosed through the symptoms of major
depression episodes, abnormal and constant elevated moods or irritability. Bipolar disorder also
presents in symptoms such as lack of need for sleep, increased talkativeness, racing thoughts,
increased physical agitation, increased involvement in activities that have a high risk of painful
consequences. Dysthymic disorder is the next most common depression disorder next ... Show more

How Does Temperature Affect The Rate Of Reaction
A chemical reaction is a process that involves the movement of the molecules in a substance. All
chemical reactions involve both reactants and products. Reactants are substances that cause a chemical
reaction, and products are substances that are generated in the reaction. The reaction rate for a reactant
or product in a particular reaction is defined as how quickly or slowly a reaction takes place. In
general, the reactions between covalent compounds are slow. For example rusting of iron. In the same
way weathering of rocks takes place in millions of years. An example of a fast reaction rate is in an
explosion when the reaction has to happen quickly. In general, the reactions between ionic compounds
are fast. This reaction is also called neutralisation reaction. Reaction rates can be altered in four ways
these are; The temperature is increased, the concentration of a dissolved reactant is increased, the
pressure of a reacting gas is increased, solid reactants are broken into smaller pieces and if a catalyst is
used or added. In this investigation it was tested if a chemical reaction would occur faster if the
surrounding temperature was hotter.
Aim
The aim of this experiment was to find out how temperature affects the rate of reaction between
Sodium thiosulfate (hypo) and hydrochloric acid.
Hypothesis It is believed that if the temperature is hotter then the reaction rate will occur faster. This is
because the heat will make the particles move faster.

Misrepresentation In Doctorow s Ragtime
The renowned image of the Ragtime era is principally based on the exclusion of large portions of
reality. This idea is explained in Jesus Benito Sanchez s A Breach in the Frame of History , an article
strongly focused on the relationship between fiction and history in E. L. Doctorow s Ragtime. Sanchez
expands on different examples of popular culture of the Ragtime era that frequently recurs in the
novel, and how they produce a misrepresentation of the past. The misrepresentation of the Ragtime era
shown in Doctorow s Ragtime is supported by false images of popular culture including photographs,
Tateh s silhouettes and films which come together to reach the novel s goal to unmask the fictional
construction of the past. Ragtime by E. L. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, Baron Ashkenazy, a filmmaker in the novel, is a simulacrum of Tateh, the Jewish
immigrant that created silhouettes as a living in New York. The films that Baron Ashkenazy/Tateh
creates misrepresents Tateh s dark past during his struggle for survival as an artist by making a
flawless society. Tateh s films erases racial, ethnic, and class tension by presenting a peacefully
pluralistic social order in which all antagonism has been reconciled (Sanchez, 19). Through his films,
Tateh completely erases his old life as a street artist to create an unrealistic world where there is no
struggle and only happiness. His films conform to the official version of American society (Sanchez,

Clustering Or Cluster Analysis Is Defined As The Process...
CLUSTERING TECHNIQUES
Clustering or Cluster analysis is defined as the process of organizing objects into groups whose
members are similar in some way. Therefore, a cluster is the collection of objects which are similar to
each other and are dissimilar to the objects belonging to other clusters. The objects in one cluster are
more related and have high similarity when compared to the objects that are in other cluster. So, we
can also define clustering as The process of grouping a set of data objects into clusters or various
groups so that the objects within the clusters have high similarity, but very dissimilar to objects that
are in other clusters . Based on the attribute values that interpret the objects and distance measures the

In the case of Image Recognition the concept of clustering can be applied to identify the clusters in
handwritten character recognition systems. Many applications of clustering are also found in Web
search. Clustering can be utilized to organize the query results in groups and present the outcomes in a
concise and effectively available way. We can distinguish and sparse regions in object space by
automated clustering and from that we can find general interesting correlations and overall distribution
patterns among data attributes. Cluster analysis has been broadly utilized as a part of various
applications, like market research, pattern recognition, data analysis, and image processing. In
business, clustering can offer marketers some assistance with discovering distinct groups in their
client bases and portray client groups taking into account the purchasing patterns. In science, it can be
utilized to determine plant and animal scientific categorizations, order qualities with similar
functionality, and addition knowledge into structures inborn in populations. For the identification of
the same land use in the earth observation database we use clustering. It can also be used for finding
groups of houses in a city based on the house type, value and the geographic location. It will be
helpful in identifying the groups of the policy holders with the highest average claim cost of the
automobile insurance.

The Pros And Cons Of The Whaling Ban
Despite the whaling ban in 1986 by the International Whaling Commission, some countries are
refusing to stop doing this practice especially Japan. After the 1986 ban, Japan launched their
supposed scientific whaling program which is widely known as their cover for their commercial
whaling practice. Supporters of the whaling ban claim that reversing the ban will cause whale
populations to become endangered or even extinct. Also, supporters of the IWC whaling ban say that
the IWC should maintain the ban and establish stricter rules regarding the ban. Proponents also claim
that the whale populations have yet to return to its former population before the excessive hunting
happened. Anti whaling groups such as Greenpeace point to species such as the West Pacific gray
whale, of which, according to some estimates, there are only about 100 left. According to Palumbi and
Roman s whale population study, the North Atlantic humpback whale population before commercial
whaling was more than 20 times what it is now.( ) Even with IWC whaling ban Japan, Iceland, and
Norway continue to hunt illegally.
Additionally, supporters of ban suggest that it is completely idiotic to risk lifting the ban for countries
who claim that whaling is a part of their culture. And that banning whaling, a practice that whale
hunters were doing for centuries is cultural imperialism and is totally unacceptable. In response to the
accusations of cultural imperialism, advocates of the whaling ban countered the

  • 2. Frederick Douglass s Response To The Abolishment Of... At first, Frederick Douglass was apprehensive about speaking in front of a large audience on slavery, but once he gathered his courage, he received a warm welcome. This encouraged Douglass to speak freely for the abolishment of slavery. He felt addressing the overall principle was more pertinent at that moment than the solutions to end slavery. Since British Christians were directly affiliated with the British, Douglass first thought their opposition to slavery might hinder efforts to abolish slavery given their close ties. However, Douglass later changed his views, as he thought given the prevalence and severity of slavery, it would take the influence of England to help combat slavery, as their dominance rose above any authorities in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He suggested that slaves should question why they should obey their masters aside from being commanded to do. Douglass told the group about the outcome of Sambo, a slave who was disobedient and did not complete his work within two and a half hours as directed by his slave owner. As a result, Sambo received lashings from his slave owner. Douglass contrasted this with reasons why obedience is necessary in the words of slave owners. In other words, if slaves wanted to be well fed, cared for, and receive favors from their masters, then they should be obedient. However, in Sambo s example, he took a nap and was given a lashing, which is quite the opposite of being well cared for or receiving favors. Douglass discussed how owners sought to convince slaves why they should obey their masters. Slave owners informed their slaves that the Lord brought them to the Christian country to experience the kingdom of heaven because the Lord saw their desperation in Africa, as they worked intensely to make ends meet. According to slave owners, the Lord empowered Bishop Newton to take the slaves from Africa to relieve them from their despair. In return, owners expected the slaves to be thankful and obedient to their slave masters for being in the Christian country, as they would not have the opportunity to enter the kingdom of heaven without ... Short term Memory Affects Color Perception in Context The purpose of the experiment was to study the effects of short term memory on perceptual observations, determine whether there is actually an independence between color memory and surface color assessment, and to discuss the differences between perception and memory characteristics. Another goal of this study was to estimate surface reflectance of an object from a general measurement of incoming light signals and figure out how it affects memory with realistic scenes and tasks. Perception is defined as the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through senses and memory is defined as the faculty by which the mind stores and remembers information. Both of these are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our brain relies on spatial frequency, bistable figures, motion direction, and structure from motion to help aid in the determination of surface color, scene complexity, and context color. All of those plus previous knowledge about encounters can affect how the brain stores the information. The interaction implies that during information processing, memory and perception must be studied jointly. There are three steps that our brains take in order for us to make a decision based on the task given to us. Step one consists of a person observing both surface reflectance and illumination. Step two happens when the background color dominates the observes illumination based on spatial length. Step three, the person will use prior experiences of reflectance and illumination. Step four takes step three, but compares and updates the observation based on whats being displayed in the trials. This allows the observer to make a precise conclusion. One major issue that arose during this study was bias. However, in this case, more bias indicates better consistency. Bias was defined as PSEcondition PSEbaseline. • 5. The Age Of The Robot Warrior Machine The age of the robot warrior machine is looming, and it will represent monumental changes in the future conduct of war. Increased precision and decreased risk make the automation of warriors politically and militarily attractive. Government and military leaders will have to address the numerous moral and ethical questions about when, where and how to utilize these lifeless soldiers. To answer similar questions in the past, many leaders relied on the military theory from the Prussian theorist Carl Von Clausewitz book On War . Even though his theories have proven helpful in the past, can the ideas written in the 1800 s, truly be useful when applied to such drastic changes in the future conduct of war? Clausewitz military genius is immutable. Even though his writings are almost two hundred years old, the application of Carl Von Clausewitz theories on war are relevant for today and in the future. Technological advancements will present unique challenges, but as long as the true nature of war remains unaffected, his paradoxical trinity will continue to provide visionary insight and value to future leaders attempting to address wars most difficult questions. The distinction between absolute vs. real war and his theories on the relationship between war and politics, and the concept of friction remain timeless. What we are really dealing with is another change in the character of war which Clausewitz has helped leaders deal with in the past and will again in the future. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Negative Impression And Negative Impressions Essay Fpositive impression and negative impression. Positive impressions are known as an impression that results in accumulating dirt underneath the sole of the shoes and then depositing on a clean surface. Negative impressions are known as impressions that are made by clean shoe stepping on a dirty surface, thus removing dust from the surface where the shoe sole made contact (1, 4). In figure 1, you can see the footwear impression on a hard surface and soft surface resulting from positive and negative impressions. The first area of comparison is the design on the outsole that is produced, but there are thousands of outsole designs that are being produced. The details on each sole vary from each other and each design has different sizes. Meaning, different types of shoes are made with a different style of an outsole and each size has its own outsole design, which gives further distinct characteristics to the outsole design even if the shoe is in the same size. The resulting physical differences in the size and shape qualities of the sole is of additional comparative usefulness in connecting or disassociating scene impressions with suspect s footwear. In case, if a shoe has a plain outsole, then the physical size and shape is taken into account and can still associate the suspect by comparing it with the impression lifted off from the crime scene. In contrast, if a shoe s outsole has a design, physical size and shape can be taken into account to compare the impression with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. A Research Study On Business Research CHAPTER 3 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY 1. Introduction Business research is considered as a truth seeking function that collects, analyses and reports information which enables decision makers to become more effective in their decision making (Alvesson and Deetz, 2000). Conducting primary research is inevitable as far as the aim of this research is concerned. However it is vital that the right kind of methodology be adopted which helps the researcher to achieve the research aim properly. In the selection of right methodology, this study seeks to identify the possible ways by which a research of this nature can be conducted and the reasons behind the selection of particular philosophy, methods, data collection, sampling and analysis techniques. 1.2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This in fact enabled the researcher to select the philosophy which best suits to achieve the research aim. Saunders et al. (2000) state that two views pertaining to philosophy dominate the literature. They are positivism and phenomenology. They add that both of the philosophies are important as far as business and management research is concerned. It can be found that Saunders et al. (2009) divided the research philosophy into different clusters. They are positivism, interpretivism, pragmatism and realism. 1.2.1 Positivism The positivistic approach is the traditional approach of the natural scientist. This approach is considered as independent and also objective where research is undertaken in a value freeway and only the observable phenomena provide credible data (Saunders et al. 2009). Therefore in positivistic research the influence of the researcher on research is kept at the minimum possible way and the instruments and methods used for this should be enabling the researcher in this regard. The methodological underpinning of survey research and experimental studies is positivism. Scientific rigour of doing research is thus one of the characteristics of positivistic research (Jupp, 2006). Easterby Smith et al. Discuss This Statement With Reference To The Purpose And Craft Of The Author 1994 Words H.G. Wells novel The War Of The Worlds depends upon late Victorian insecurities to generate a thrilling climate of terror. Wells feeds off of the politics at that point in time, the ethics and beliefs of his contemporaries and also the sense of false pride and arrogance that white Victorians had considering that they were top of the natural selection hierarchy. He produces this climate of terror not only through the content of his writing, but by his use of language, structure and imagery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many Britons feared this idea of a technologically advanced war at the time, as Britain was in a naval race with Germany. Germany was challenging Britain s navy because Britain s navy was the best in the world, and one of the main causes of Britain having such a vast empire. Britain were aware of the envy that Germany had, and were therefore fearing the fact that Germany may be secretly planning a war, much like the Martians silently planned an attack on Earth. Wells also wrote about Victorians losing their faith in religion and the church. Some Victorians believed that god was punishing them as a world war was looming and some even doubted his existence, as there was no proof for it. To illustrate this, Wells created the curate as a highly religious character who had faith in god and also questioned why god had brought this war upon them. The following quote illustrates this, when the curate said The end! The great and terrible day of the Lord! When men shall call upon the mountains and the rocks to fall upon them and hide them hide them from the face of Him that sitteth upon the throne! . Analysis Of The Beatles Music 109 The Beatles Katherine McGreevy Creative Written Paper In learning about The Beatles over the past few months, I have gained great appreciation for them as a band. Particularly, I really enjoyed learning about and listening to the many love songs written by The Beatles. It was a difficult task to choose just three songs to write about, however I chose the three songs I enjoyed most. They are each love songs from a different era of The Beatles work throughout their years. I Should Have Known Better , Michelle , and Dear Prudence have all left great impressions on me. I Should Have Known Better was issued on the B side of A Hard Day s Night in 1964 (Wikipedia, 2016). This song was one of many inspired by Bob Dylan as we learned he left quite the impression on the Beatles, especially Lennon. This inspiration led Lennon to write more meaningful lyrics (Benitez, 2016). It is easy to understand why this song was popular reaching the top Billboard charts at number 53 as Lennon s harmonica playing skills are capturing (Wikipedia, 2016). • 12. There s A Certain Slant Of Light And William Blake s London Emily Dickinson s There s a certain slant of light and William Blake s London are two poems that contain the same theme about despair, yet express that theme very differently. Both poems contain the theme about how despair causes people to be trapped in a constant cycle of pain and loss, and that there is no way to break this cycle. The way that the author expresses this theme is very different. Dickinson s poem presents despair that seems to come from heaven, and with this despair her life has no meaning. Blake s poem presents despair only through people in society, and that despair comes from oppression and confinement. These two poems are similar in that they express the theme of how despair corrupts all, yet they differ in how they present despair in society and provide an insight to how each author view the world. Both There s a certain slant of light and London contain the central theme that despair corrupts the mind, and makes people believe that their lives have no meaning. These poems tell how outside forces oppress society, and that these forces continually beat down the people into making them feel worthless. This feeling of worthlessness expressed through the speaker of each poem. Each poem expresses the belief that society cannot escape this feeling of despair, and that there is no hope for a better life. One of the visible autoimmune diseases is vitiligo. Vitiligo occurs when melanocytes die or stop producing the pigment that gives a skin, hair, and eyes color. When people have vitiligo the skin becomes whiter, and it usually occurs on skin on both sides of the body. The exact trigger is not known but it relates to immune system to attack, destroy the melanin forming cells because of the family history, sunburn, stress, or exposure to chemicals. It can happen at any age but usually occurs before the age 20. It is reported that steroid creams and light therapy are not as effective in reversing the pigmentation. Yale investigators decided to use FDA approved medication (Janus kinase inhibitors). The patient was given tofacitinib, before this medication the patient s white spots were increasing. After two month the results were seen, patient had repigmentation on the face, arms, and hands. After five months, this white spots were almost gone; the patient had only several white spots left on the body. There were no negative results seen using tofacitinib. They destroy Saruman s dam in the River Isen, subsequently putting out his forging fires. I find it imperative to take note that characters who love and respect trees and nature are on the side of good; those who cause harm to the trees of Middle Earth are on the side of evil and typically do so for the sake of industry. Typically peaceful and wise, not very drawn to adventures or wars, if they are roused they can be terrible and they will fight fearlessly to protect the trees and forests. Impulsive And Immature In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare characterizes Romeo s character to be both impulsive and immature in things that include love and things that don t include love. Romeo s rash behavior and hasty decisions are one the reasons for the downfall of Romeo and Juliet. Despite Romeo and Juliet both being the heirs of two enemies, they fall in love rather quickly, forgetting hardships that would come, proving that it s better to think before you act. Before Romeo meets Juliet, he is in love with Rosaline, so much so that when she rejects him, he mourns for her, acting unhappy and downhearted. As a result of that, he creates a depressed environment around him as Montague says, Shuts up his windows, locks fair daylight out, and makes himself an artificial night (1.1.142 143). Revealing just how much Rosaline s rejections affects him. Rosaline has taken an oath of chastity, this plays a big role in his sadness as this leaves her uncharmed by Romeo, making her, in strong proof of chastity well armed, from love s weak childish bow she lives uncharmed (1.1.218 219). One way of life is based upon the will of the majority, and is distinguished by free institutions, representative government, free elections, and guarantees of individual liberty, freedom of speech and religion, and freedom from political oppression. The second way of life is based upon the will of a minority forcibly imposed upon the majority. It relies upon terror and oppression, a controlled press and radio, fixed elections, and the suppression of personal freedoms. An organization may be defined as a nexus of contracts, where said contracts are relationships that are marked by contributions from the various stakeholders in return for inducements provided by the organization. Over the long haul, the success of an organization is a function of the extent to which the needs and requirements of its various stakeholders can be integrated and balanced, without sacrificing any one to the other. To accommodate this architecture, the scorecard is structured as multiple, aggregated cubes. Each layer a nesting of the ones below. In general, the highest level cube defines the measures and dimensions that apply to the corporate level, and these drill through to divisional and departmental cubes that have a more detailed level of information (Nickols, 1999). This artery of the cubes lets the strategy communicate down the organization, while performance is aggregated up through the organization like blood through vein. One story written back then was The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, it s about a group of people on a journey to Canterbury and along the way each character tells a story, each with its own moral. Her platinum blonde hair continues to be a popular trademark today, with other celebrities continuing to imitate her. She is the image of Hollywood and American perfectibility. However, she was not just a beauty queen who seemingly had the world wrapped around her finger. She was also a vulnerable woman, who severely struggled with mental illnesses, neuroticism, and high expectations. Marilyn Monroe is an epitome of a tragic hero, as she was the victim of a downfall caused by irreparable flaws. Monroe was born as Norma Jean Baker on June 1st, 1926. These titles may sound flattering to some, and maybe at times she enjoyed them. But her restrictive Hollywood image only seemed to add to her insecurity and troubles. The sexual glorification of Monroe stems from the constant exploitation that she has described from her earlier days in the business. While she both despised and played to this, Marilyn Monroe would resent being typecast as a not too smart sex symbol and would fight a very hard but ultimately losing battle to get the public to believe that she was smarter (and less man hungry) than the women she portrayed on the silver screen ( Ten Things You Might Not Know About Marilyn Monroe. ). But why did a part of her also accept this? Why did she have this overwhelming need to satisfy the same people who held her down? She feared disappointing the public who put her on this pedestal and seeming imperfect. She was said to wash her face up to 15 times a day in fear of blemishes and sweat ( Marilyn s Beauty and Style. ), and at the 1950s Academy Awards, she burst into tears. It seems that she failed to give herself the love and appreciation that she needed. As a result, she mistakenly turned to the camera for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Critical Analysis Of The Heart Of Emily The story is divided into five sections. In section I, the narrator recalls the time of Emily Grierson s death and how the entire town attended her funeral in her home, which no stranger had entered for more than ten years. In a once elegant, upscale neighborhood, Emily s house is the last vestige of the grandeur of a lost era. Colonel Sartoris, the town s previous mayor, had suspended Emily s tax responsibilities to the town after her father s death, justifying the action by claiming that Mr. Grierson had once lent the community a significant sum. As new town leaders take over, they make unsuccessful attempts to get Emily to resume payments. When members of the Board of Aldermen pay her a visit, in the dusty and antiquated parlor, Emily reasserts the fact that she is not required to pay taxes in Jefferson and that the officials should talk to Colonel Sartoris about the matter. However, at that point he has been dead for almost a decade. She asks her servant, Tobe, to show the men out. In section II, the narrator describes a time thirty years earlier when Emily resists another official inquiry on behalf of the town leaders, when the townspeople detect a powerful odor emanating from her property. Her father has just died, and Emily has been abandoned by the man whom the townsfolk believed Emily was to marry. As complaints mount, Judge Stevens, the mayor at the time, decides to have lime sprinkled along the foundation of the Grierson home in the middle of the night. Within a couple of weeks, the odor subsides, but the townspeople begin to pity the increasingly reclusive Emily, remembering how her great aunt had succumbed to insanity. The townspeople have always believed that the Griersons thought too highly of themselves, with Emily s father driving off the many suitors deemed not good enough to marry his daughter. With no offer of marriage in sight, Emily is still single by the time she turns thirty. The day after Mr. Grierson s death, the women of the town call on Emily to offer their condolences. Meeting them at the door, Emily states that her father is not dead, a charade that she keeps up for three days. She finally turns her father s body over for burial. In section III, the narrator describes a long ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many different rules between pro and college level. The NBA consist of 32 professional teams, but the college level has 347 division 1 schools that develop players and make them grow into being a professional athlete. When coming out of high school, you get to choose what school you want to play for. Most athletes pick the biggest school with the biggest fan base. That way these players will be noticed and scouted before going pro. The professional level is completely different because you enter the draft. You don t get to choose where or who you play for after the draft. There are so many differences and similarities between the two. A difference between the two are that in the NBA you can foul six times before fouling out but in the NCAA you get only 5. Fouling out results in you sitting on the bench for the rest of the game without playing but just watching. In the NBA after five fouls the opposing team is put in the bonus, but in the NCAA it takes seven fouls to be put into the bonus. The bonus for the NBA is when you get fouled you get two free throws. In the NCAA you get a term called One and one . It s where you shoot one free throw and make it you get a chance at another, but if you miss the first shot you don t get another shot. • 48. How Does Temperature Affect The Rate Of Reaction A chemical reaction is a process that involves the movement of the molecules in a substance. All chemical reactions involve both reactants and products. Reactants are substances that cause a chemical reaction, and products are substances that are generated in the reaction. The reaction rate for a reactant or product in a particular reaction is defined as how quickly or slowly a reaction takes place. In general, the reactions between covalent compounds are slow. For example rusting of iron. In the same way weathering of rocks takes place in millions of years. An example of a fast reaction rate is in an explosion when the reaction has to happen quickly. In general, the reactions between ionic compounds are fast. This reaction is also called neutralisation reaction. Reaction rates can be altered in four ways these are; The temperature is increased, the concentration of a dissolved reactant is increased, the pressure of a reacting gas is increased, solid reactants are broken into smaller pieces and if a catalyst is used or added. In this investigation it was tested if a chemical reaction would occur faster if the surrounding temperature was hotter. Aim The aim of this experiment was to find out how temperature affects the rate of reaction between Sodium thiosulfate (hypo) and hydrochloric acid. Hypothesis It is believed that if the temperature is hotter then the reaction rate will occur faster. This is because the heat will make the particles move faster. Materials Dilute ...
