There are a few steps to take to verify End-Of-Year data
Your tracker should have a finalized roster
Note: All new students who joined the class should be added to the roster, and all
students who have missed more than 50% of instructional time should be removed.

You Should Have Data For ALL students
Note: If you are missing data for even one student, your data are not complete! When
students are absent they should make up the assessment!
If a student missed a round of assessment because they were not enrolled at that
time, use the NETR code.
All standards should be assessed
Note: All standards should be assessed with the adequate rigor and at-bats necessary
to make a valid inference about student learning
Another way to check that all standards have been
assessed is that these two values are the same
Note: These values are not the same, which means not all standards were assessed!

  • 8. There are a few steps to take to verify End-Of-Year data
  • 9. Your tracker should have a finalized roster Note: All new students who joined the class should be added to the roster, and all students who have missed more than 50% of instructional time should be removed.

Indicate here that you wish to remove a student from the roster You must produce a compelling rationale for any request to remove a student from your tracker See the SGA Handbook for more info
  • 11. You Should Have Data For ALL students Note: If you are missing data for even one student, your data are not complete! When students are absent they should make up the assessment! If a student missed a round of assessment because they were not enrolled at that time, use the NETR code.
  • 12. All standards should be assessed Note: All standards should be assessed with the adequate rigor and at-bats necessary to make a valid inference about student learning
  • 13. Another way to check that all standards have been assessed is that these two values are the same Note: These values are not the same, which means not all standards were assessed!
  • 14. Your tracker should be error-free Oops!
  • 15. And finally, you should check your progress to Goal! Note: This class achieved an average standards mastery of 75.66%. The class met the Proficient Goal, but not the Ambitious Goal.
  • 16. Great. You’ve Verified Outcomes. But What Does It All Mean?
  • 17. Did all students achieve 80% standards mastery? Did all students perform equally well?
  • 18. How Did Students Do Individually? Look down the rows to see how students performed individually.
  • 19. Was 80% standards mastery achieved for all standards? Did students perform equally well across all standards?
  • 20. What Was Average Performance By Standard? Look across the columns to see average performance by standard.
  • 21. Overall, what do these results signify for these students going forward?
  • 22. What Do These Results Signify Going Forward? You’ve helped Romeo all year to better understand the meaning of a number. The best part? He now understands what it means for his students. That’s why we do this work.

  5. Ask questions from IH: At this point, give away NOTHING! Let people make suggestions and offer ideas. Don’t show any right or wrong responses. Some expected comments: “I can’t tell. I don’t know this content. I teach high school social studies.” Possible response (for later): As a teacher, you will need to be savvy with all sorts of content that you never taught before. This is 3rd grade math. You can do it! “They know everything but they don’t understanding how to solve an equation with an unknown in the form of a box symbol.” Possible response (for later): How do we state that in the language of the standard? The word “box symbol” are not explicit in the language of the standard. “I can’t tell. The assessment is crap.” Possible response (for later): What do you mean ‘crap’? Can you pick a question and give us a specific critique of it? (note: these are great questions) “Next step is to reteach the content on which students struggled.” Possible response (for later): That’s our generic advice. What specifically needs to be retaught, and in what way?
