2. Paul Bogard s Argument For The Preservation Of Darkness
In his commentary, Paul Bogard builds an argument for the preservation of natural darkness. He
strongly believes people are overusing artificial luminescence at night, and should reduce their usage
to preserve darkness. To substantiate his opinion, Bogard utilizes factual evidence and appeal to
emotion.
Bogard employs factual evidence as a means of improving his argument. In his second paragraph,
Bogard utilizes evidence provided by the WHO in saying the night shift is a probable human
carcinogen. . . Sleep disorders have been linked to diabetes, obesity, depression. . . one main cause of
short sleep is long light . Bogard emphasizes that as the use of artificial lighting at night increases,
more and more people are falling victim to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He begins by reminiscing about his childhood spent at a lake, nostalgically speaking of the scenes he
saw in the sky. Later, he says Even the northern lake where I was lucky enough to spend my summers
as seen its darkness diminish . Bogard uses his own past as a means of accessing the reader s past,
forcing him or her to think about how much they value their childhood. By stating how even his
childhood memories are being blown away by artificial lighting, Bogard instills fear that their
memories will face the same fate in the reader. As a result of this fear, the reader is left only to agree
with Bogard. He then goes on to state night s darkness can provide solitude, quiet and stillness. . . In a
world awash with electric light . . . how would Van Gogh have given the world his Starry Night ? As
humans, peace and solitude is an inherent part of who we are; no matter how mush of a social
butterfly we are, quiet is something we all crave. Within this peacefulness, we can get away from the
bustle of life and even find inspiration in darkness much like Van Gogh did. To lose this independence
and quiet would be a shocking blow to everyone, and the reader is convinced by Bogard. Through his
or her own emotions and experiences, the reader is compelled to agree with

6. The World Is Bias Analysis
The world is biased whether some want to believe it or not. My own essay is biased.Whenever
someone is one sided we automatically accuse him or her of being quite prejudice. Humans are always
inclined to interpret situations in an individual way. People perceive each other in society fairly
critically and diminish traits by looking at someone s flaws. Although bias can be detectable, some
types of bias are hard to point out. We consistently categorize the world attempting to lose threats.
There is a variety of bias that is used in print media and also in person but why is that? How would we
be able to conquer this biases we have in society as it is? Firstly Homo sapiens especially are prone to

7. Aerosols Of Rain Case Study
Nature of Aerosols Effect on Cloud Cover and Precipitation over Central Gangetic Plain during 2012
2015 Indian Summer Monsoon Rainfall: A Case Study by using Satellite observations
Abstract: The effect of aerosol on cloud cover and precipitation is one of the hot topics in the current
environmental scenario, especially during the drought conditions. The study presents the qualitative
assessment of microphysical and radiative effects of aerosols on cloud cover during the Indian
summer monsoon rainfall (ISMR) months of 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 over the highly polluted
central gangetic plain by using the Absorption Fraction Feedback (the AFF) model. The years of 2012

The results from the ancillary data analysis were also in agreement with results of the AFF model.
Introduction Aerosols are one of the key factors responsible for the climate change and influencing the
radiation budget of the earth. Columnar Aerosol loading (amount in the atmosphere) is usually
quantified by mass concentration (PM Particulate Matter) or by an optical measure (AOD Aerosol
Optical Depth). The effects of aerosols on atmosphere are mainly categorized into four types (Lau et
al., 2008). They are 1) aerosol direct effects, 2) aerosol Semi direct effects, 3) first Indirect effects and
4) the second Indirect effects. Direct effect of aerosols is the manifestation of dimming of solar
radiation by aerosols due to scattering and absorption. Due to blockage of incoming radiations, the
temperature in the lower levels of the atmosphere decreases and therefore, the convection process is
weakened which results in a thermodynamically stabilized atmosphere layer. This in turn, reduces the
humidity in the lower layers delaying the cloud formation (semi direct effect). The first indirect effect,
which is also called Twomey Effect, explains the aerosol and cloud interactions at microphysical scale
(Twomey, 1977). The changes in aerosol concentrations (aerosols act as cloud condensation nuclei
(CCN)) can also alter the cloud albedo and reflectivity. The second indirect effect deals with the

8. Dental Implant Informative Speech
What You Should Know About Getting A Dental Implant For Your Teen
If your teen loses a front tooth participating in sports or playing around, he or she will want to replace
it as soon as possible since teens are usually self conscious about their appearance. The best way to
replace a missing tooth is with a dental implant. However, your teen may have to wait for this
procedure until growth of the skull and jaw stops. Here are a few things to know about teens and
dental implants.
Why Dental Implants Are Best
A dental implant is a good choice for your teen because it helps prevent bone loss. Losing a tooth at
any age is a bad situation, but it is especially unfortunate for a teen with a long life ahead. An implant
stimulates the bone so no loss occurs that could affect the smile or facial appearance. Plus, an implant
lasts a lifetime. While the crown portion may chip or crack, the implant is deep in the bone so it is
strong and protected. Having an implant is about as good as having a natural tooth, since your teen
will be able to chew normally, and the tooth surface looks like normal enamel.
When Teens Are Ready For Implants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s necessary for the jaw to stop growing first. The age this happens varies from child to child. It is
usually in the late teens, but your dentist will make the determination through x rays and other tests. It
s necessary to wait because implants won t grow along with your child s jaw like a normal tooth does.
A real tooth connects to the bone with a ligament. Because of this, real teeth shift in place and change
their alignment as the jaw grows. This is also why teeth can be adjusted with braces. An implant
actually fuses with the bone, so it stays firmly in place. If an implant is put in too early, the tooth may
jut out by the time your child is an adult. That would affect his or her appearance in a negative way,
and may require expensive dental work to

LEADERS ARE BORN NOT MADE There have been an age long debate, and humans since
beginning of time, have tried to come up with an answer to this question Are Leaders born or are they
made?. This question has generated an age long debate, which in turn has resulted in various school of
thoughts, some believe that leaders are born, while others think otherwise. My contribution to this
lifelong debate will serve as a pointer to my position on this issue. I strongly believe that leaders are
born and not made. Who is a Leader? A leader is a person who guides others toward a common goal,

involved in the entire process. A leader is not the boss of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe creativity is one of the top qualities that born leaders posses, its the ability to tap into the
subconscious to bring out great ideas. Creative leaders have the ability to re think their business
models and come up with ideas to drastically change their enterprise . (Stephen 2011) Although
Creativity is considered as one of the most prominent qualities that great leaders possess, another key
innate ability is Confidence. Confidence is among the traits of great leaders, confidence cannot be
taught; confidence for most great leaders is inborn. Francisco Dao in his article wrote Without
Confidence there is no leadership; leadership is about having the confidence to make decisions. If
someone is afraid to make and commit to decisions, all of the communication and empowerment in
the world won t make a squat of difference . (Dao 2008) Another quality that great leaders are born
with is Passion. Leaders always exhibit this quality in any area they find themselves. Being passionate
about an idea, a project, a business is just learnt in the confines of the four walls of a classroom, it s a
trait that is inborn. Passionate leaders spread passion to others
through their love of life, doing new things, taking risks, being motivated, having a sense of
urgency, and reinventing

When the Separatists bordered the ship, the Mayflower, with other individuals seeking different lands,
such as Captain Myles Standish, a popular soldier, the ship missed its destination and landed in New
England. Upon arriving, the group chose leaders that would effectively lead the group, such as
William Bradford, a self taught scholar who could speak many languages and communicate with
many different types of people and was later discovered to be elected 30 times as governor for the
Pilgrims. The chosen leaders of this group of people, the Pilgrims, created a brief Mayflower Compact
which signified an agreement to form a crude government and always submit to the regulation of
majority rules . This pact was a step towards the idea of America s self government. Since the Pilgrims
wisely chose educated leaders, the population usually got along well, and its colonization made it one
of the most moral and spiritual at the time. The Pilgrims fought through harsh winters and celebrated

13. Essay On Personal Reflection
Introduction Learning and participating in workshops provides one with an opportunity to gain
knowledge. The knowledge gained is beneficial to the individual when put into practice, otherwise,
that knowledge is futile. However, one can only apply the information gained through better
information processing and synthesis. One of the approaches used in evaluating the effectiveness of
the information gained involves undertaking an in depth personal reflection. The purpose of this
investigation is to conduct an in depth personal reflection on one area of personal strength emanating
from the workshops carried out throughout the year. Definition of Personal Strength To evaluate one s
strengths, one needs to undertake a range of tests. Already, there exist a plethora of approaches to
evaluate the strengths within oneself. Some of these tests include personal intuitions and preferences.
However, undertaking a professional evaluation is important to ensure consistency. One of the most
important tools to evaluate one s personal strengths is the Myers Briggs Type Indicators (Bower 2015;
Culp Smith 2009; Das Sharma, 2015). In particular, this evaluation protocol allows an individual to
see the person within other than the behavior. Primarily, the inner personality influences the outward
behavior. Moreover, the environment plays an important role in the behavioral approach.
Consequently, performing a focused investigation provides a better evaluation metric. Furthermore,
the Myers Briggs Type Indicator allows an individual to conceptualize both internal and external
factors and the decisions made under such environments. After a careful evaluation, I have realized
that organization or orderliness is my personal strength. In part, planning plays a central role in most
of the decisions made (Cui Wu 2016). Essentially, I feel that whenever the time is spent on the
planning stage, the implementation and evaluation of a process become easier. However, failure to
plan leads to delays in the implementation process. Particularly, a lot of delays in the implementation
process are attributable to the order of activities. In other cases, people try to undertake more than one
activity simultaneously as a time saving strategy.

Key differences between Client Server network and Peer Peer network:
1. Data path: The prominent difference between client to server network and peer to peer network is
that in a client to server network, the designated clients request for services and the servers provide
them (data flows from server to client), but in peer to peer network, peers act as service providers and
service consumers and service providers at the same time (data flows within peers).
2. Configuration: The Client server network requires a central security database which stores blocks of
shared data as a backup, but the peer peer network does not contain the central security database as
each peer contains its own data.

In March 2012, Spotify removed a feature that non U.S. residents couldn t play a song more than five
times but the restriction continued in the United Kingdom and in France. What makes Spotify
different from other programs is that it allows you to access 20 million songs that you can stream on
your computer and play. The basic services are free while the premium gives the more advanced
features. Spotify provides more access to thousands of albums and artists and allows people to listen
to some of their favorite songs for free. It has changed the way music platforms are hosted on the
internet and provides easier access to artist s music online. A strategy that Spotify uses to help achieve
their position is by selling premium services to people and using advertisements from third parties. If
people enjoy the website enough, they will pay to get even better services from the website. They also
offer to pay artists and copyright holders royalties if they stream their music on the website. This helps
them get their revenue. The company pays 70% of revenue to the copyright holders. Spotify tries to
push for people to pay for the music which is the source of most of their revenue. The subscription
usually removes advertisements and limits on the songs. It also allows free phone usage, offline and
online. In 2012, a report declared that Spotify lost $59 million in revenue costs due to high staffing

19. Analysis Of The Novel American Psycho By Bret Easton...
In the novel American Psycho written by Bret Easton Ellis, the protagonist Patrick Bateman uses his
wealth and violence which are exemplified in scenes involving the murder of his ex girlfriend
Bethany. As well as appealing to the idea to maintain his image by any means such as purchasing
expensive merchandises and taking the initiative to attend upscale restaurants. His actions with the
implications of those elements reveal the consumptions of status and privilege. The detailed narration
of Bateman s intense violent acts and purchases of expensive products creates imaginary and conflict
for readers to accept as true the impression he is trying to demonstrate to the general public and
associates. This may result in readers rejecting the character and concluding that Bateman does not
deserve/worthy of the position in society he desires to achieve. This plays a significant part in how to
read the novel because it demonstrates the obsession of acknowledgement and the measurements
individuals are prepared to carry out. The most attention Bateman receives from the other characters in
the novel is compliments on his tan instead of his success or presence. Experiencing treated like, can
possibly understand his motives for preying on women. Feeding off the vulnerability and weakness of
women provides him with the confidence and authority that he lacks. Overall, the consumption of

20. Music Therapy And Its Effect On Children
Music plays an important role in everyone s life and, although the majority of people nowadays have
heard of music therapy, not many are exactly sure of what it is nor are they aware of its beneficial
effects (Peters 2). Children, in particular, have shown significant improvement in their disabilities
when subjected to musical therapy. Music therapist Ulla Holck s studies show that music therapy can
meet the basic needs of children with special needs, such as behavioral problems, attention skills,
social skills, emotional needs and intersubjective skills. In addition cognitive skills can be
strengthened if the basic needs are fulfilled (45). Music therapy is a process in which music is utilized
to meet or enhance the individual s mental and physical health. The introduction of music therapy has
always brought many benefits, no matter if in general settings or in schools and families; it is
documented to ameliorate the relationship between a child and the family, as well as aid children with
disabilities, such as autism, and special needs. Because of the proven effectiveness of music therapy
for children with disabilities and not, parents should be encouraged to make music apart of their
children s lives.
There is plenty of evidence that proves that music has been utilized in therapy and healing practices
since ancient times. Among the earliest people to practice music therapy before it even became a
profession were the shamans, who originated in the primitive civilizations

21. Black Masculinity And The Hip Hop Culture
In the predominantly patriarchal history of the world masculinity and what it means to be a man have
differed from culture to culture. When it comes to African American history and culture, particularly
what it has meant to be a man has no clear set of universal rules or guidelines. There are a few
different sources such as hip hop and television many young black men across America draw their
sense of masculinity from. On the other hand, there are role models in black communities that many
young black men also draw their sense of masculinity from. With so many different sources to draw a
sense of what it means to be a black man in today s society from what is the true definition of black
masculinity. In black media today the hip hop culture is often referred to when defining what it means
to be a black person in society. In particular the hip hop culture is where many young black men pull
both positive and negative aspects of black masculinity. Many mainstream hip hop songs often create
a common misogyny by objectifying and stereotyping women. An example of this can be heard in the
song Nasty Girl by The Notorious B.I.G. where he states: Conversate. Sex on the first date. I state,
You know what you do to me? She starts off, Well I don t usually. Then I, whip it out, rubber no doubt.

23. Francois Boucher s The Toilette Of Venus
Art is a medium for exploring a culture s characteristics during a specific time. Understanding an art
piece s content and historical significance can reveal key details about different civilizations.
Following the time period of the Renaissance, European artists experimented with styles to separate
their works from the prior time period. They strayed away from even lighting, stillness, and symmetry
to form a new artistic style that differed from the Renaissance. This type of style was labeled the
Baroque, a European aesthetic focused on movement, emotion, and drama. Francois Boucher was a
French artist from this time that embraced the rising Baroque style. In the 17th century, the Royal

Art is able to evoke different feelings and emotions to each person that sets their eyes on it. The act of
looking is simple, but a lot comes from it. Where the eyes are first drawn to, the duration that the eyes
are focused on a specific detail, and the thoughts that flood one s brain when viewing art is all
significant. These actions say more than the piece itself, it reveals emotions of both the artist and the
audience. Art can be expressed through infinite forms, but the underlying importance is not with the
art itself. It represents a place in time, displaying what was noteworthy to an individual in their own
life. It serves as a lasting creation representative of human imagination with the ability to bring out a
multitude of emotions from whoever views it. When art is created it represents the creativity of the
human mind compacted into a physical object. Art has little usage aside from pure observation, yet it
has prevailed throughout time, showing its importance to humanity. Art provides a lens into humanity,
showcasing the human ability over time. When studied through history, art is a view into the
development of humans and their interests. Through something as basic as commonly using symmetry
to transitioning to asymmetry, the European s perspective following the Renaissance is revealed. The
making of art is solely up to one individual and their creativity. It is the pinnacle of

24. Comparing Pascal s Wager In Catholicism And The Christian God
Pascal s Wager is often considered one of philosophies weakest religious arguments to date. Pascal
invents a wager to persuade the one who questions God into attending church, following the Ten
Commandments, and following any other traditions in the Catholic Church. The wager is, if a person
is a believer and after departing from this earth they find that they are correct, then their rewards are
infinite. They will receive eternal life and a relationship with God in heaven. On the other hand if a
person is a non believer and after death they find that they are incorrect, then their loss is infinite.
Meaning they have the possibility of eternal damnation and separation from God. There are another
two possibilities, in which God does not exist and the believer is incorrect and the non believer is
correct. Both of these scenarios have finite rewards or finite losses. Depending on matter of opinion,
one could say that a life doing good works and being part of a community is a reward in itself whether
or not God actually exists but to someone else it could be a restriction or a loss of freedom. None the
less, if God turns out to not exist the atheist and the theist would only have finite consequences. Pascal
s Wager is rooted in Catholicism and the Christian God. Making the wager apply to much broader
terms would take away the many Gods criticism and make the argument stronger. Restructuring the
Wager and offering the possibility of evidence, which is what Pascal should have

Urinary frequency can be defined as the necessity to urinate multiple times throughout the day
including night (nocturia). Simply stated urinary frequency is voiding at abnormally brief intervals
within a 24 hour period1. Additionally, urinary frequency has also been described as urinating more
than usual. Typically adults will urinate 4 6 times per day2. There have been surveys and diary studies
in the United States and Europe that state the upper limit for bouts of urination is eight times per 24
hour period3. Every case should be evaluated thoroughly and urinating eight times per day does not

Important findings to look for are any discharge or lesions consistent with sexually transmitted

procedures that can be ordered. All patients will require a urinalysis and culture that can easily be

Wozzeck−perhaps the most frequently performed theatrical work in the atonal idom represents Berg s
first attempt to deal within the framework of opera ( Alban Berg 1). He gained recognition as a
composer of international standing but also a degree of financial stability (Jarman 319). A well known
work for the violin was the Kammerkonzert. This song demonstrates Berg s love for intricate formal
designs and his interest in using apparently abstract, mathematical schemes as structural determinants
(Jarman 319). The Lyrische Suite for the string quartet was also one of Berg s compositions. It is the
most completely documented demonstration of the extent to which such extra musical considerations
act as compositional determinants (Jarman 319). Jarman says that Kammerkonzert and the Lyrische
Suite are songs that mark Berg s gradual adoption of the 12 note sytem (319). Another famous opera

The Scientific Management Theory (Taylorism)
In 1911, Frederick Winslow Taylor published his work, The Principles of Scientific Management, in
which he described how the application of the scientific method to the management of workers greatly
could improve productivity.
Scientific management methods called for optimizing the way that tasks were performed and
simplifying the jobs enough so that workers could be trained to perform their specialized sequence of
motions in the one best way.

The Human Relations Theory (The Hawthorne Effect)
The Hawthorne Studies (or experiments) were conducted from 1927 to 1932 at the Western Electric
Hawthorne Works in Chicago, where Harvard Business School professor Elton Mayo examined
productivity and work conditions.
Elton Mayo started these experiments by examining the physical and environmental influences of the
workplace (e.g. brightness of lights, humidity) and later, moved into the psychological aspects (e.g.
breaks, group pressure, working hours, managerial leadership) and their impact on employee
motivation as it applies to productivity.
28. The Hawthorne Effect can be summarized as Employees are more productive because the employees
know they are being studied. Elton Mayo s experiments showed an increase in worker productivity
was produced by the psychological stimulus of being singled out, involved, and made to feel
important.
Specifically, Mayo wanted to find out what effect fatigue and monotony had on job productivity and
how to control them through such variables as rest breaks, work hours, temperature and humidity. In
the process, he stumbled upon a principle of human motivation that would help to revolutionize the
theory and

anything from the streaming services diverse content catalog, and they can rate and write a review of

The Enlightenment was a wide spread movement in philosophical thinking within Europe throughout
the 1700s. Prior to the Enlightenment, the Scientific Revolution in the 15 and 1600s set up the basis of
secular and introspective thinking that is characteristic to the enlightenment. During the age of
Enlightenment, many philosophers began to question the power and goals of the government as well
as the powers and rights of the people. These philosophers came together just as scientific thinkers had
come together during the Scientific Revolution in order to discuss and build on each others ideas in
the search of perfection. Critical thinking changed during the enlightenment in several ways: first,
political thought became less secular and sought to find the actual purpose of a government; next,
philosophes attempted to determine what rights were given to governments and to people; and finally,
during this time ideas on toleration and the rights of individuals were expanded greatly. In medieval
times, most European civilians followed laws based on the church. Their compliance of the law was
based on fear of governmental and religious punishments. Throughout the Renaissance, the Scientific
Revolution, and the eventual Enlightenment, people s views on government began to become more
secular. Many people began to view their leaders as less of a tool to punish them for sin and tried to
determine the actual purpose of their government. In his Second Treatise on Government, John

The Tang and the Song Dynasties were considered the Golden Age of China. These two dynasties
came just after the Han, which is another very successful Dynasty, but somehow these two seem to top
it. It was due to many reasons that the Tang and the Song were considered the Golden Age, one main
reason being the Silk Road. The Silk Road was a transcontinental trade network connecting China to
the Empires living in the Western part of Asia, Africa, and Europe. It was an extremely successful part
of the Chinese economy, and improved communication tremendously with China and its Western
neighbors. For China, the Silk Road allowed them to gain different things like horses, persian rugs,
and tapestries, while they exported things such as textiles, porcelain, silk, and paper. Other reasons
these Dynasties were considered the Golden Age included the rising economy, advanced government,
and the rising population specifically in cities. The Silk Road and trade include the people of one of
the social classes of China during this time: merchants. Merchants in the Song dynasty were
considered to be the lowest social class, besides slaves, due to the idea that they took advantage of
other s labor for their own profit.
These two very successful dynasties also relied heavily on their religion to keep the people together,
and to also regulate the social classes. During this time period Neo Confucianism was the main

Finally, these energy sources have very negative affect on the environment when they are mined or

Importance of Non renewable Energy Sources
Before discussing about the disadvantages of non renewable sources of energy let s look on some
important uses of them. According to Richards (as cited in Fossil Fuels, 2004), fossil fuels are the
most common fuels used from a long time since they were discovered. Everything that involves
transportation is utilizing fossils fuels in some or the other way. Coal, the other most common form of
non renewable energy source is used to produce electricity. Moreover coal is also used to refine
metals. Natural gas, which is the result of decomposing plants and animals, is mainly used in home for
cooking. Nuclear fuels also come under non renewable sources but they are cleanest of all of them.
They are used when large amount of energy has to be extracted.
Coal, oil and natural gas, which come under natural resources, took millions of years to form.
Therefore, it is impossible to replace them once we consume them. The main energy sources used by
humans are non renewable; renewable resources, such as solar, tidal, wind, and geothermal power,
have so far been less exploited.
Fossil fuels are the most important components of non renewable sources of energy energy. They

41. Educators Struggle with Philosophy
As an educator we all struggle with philosophy and where to go from there once we decide what our
set of beliefs are. Once we put our philosophy in place, we then struggle with changing our
philosophy. I believe that philosophies can be always changing any given situation and in order for
growth as an educator we have to be aware to the situations that can change our philosophy, as well as
being true to our core beliefs. However, in order for this to happen we must understand what
philosophy is, and what it is not and how it fall in line with ideology and theories. For this assignment,
I will compare and contrast philosophy, ideology, and theory.
Philosophy is the most beliefs about what is true or real according to individual values (Gutek, 2009).
Philosophy is our beliefs that will determine what we do professionally and personally. Not having a
philosophy set in place, it will be difficult to make decisions within the classroom, creating
curriculums and evaluate progress. Although a person can set goals without having a philosophy
implemented, not having the foundation of a set philosophy (core set of beliefs) achieving the goals
can be a very difficult challenge.
Educators need a starting point to understand why we think and act the way we do in our classrooms.
Having a philosophy allows an educator to reflect on how to make classroom actions consistent with
our beliefs related to learning. However, before we list our beliefs we need to delve deeper into what
makes
