sin by the people of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Her act of adultery seemed to be the highest crime

constant humiliation in the presence of every citizen of the colony, they assured that she would live

Because of Hester s incrimination and her treatment, we can see the morals of the colony. When we
see the women waiting for Hester outside the prison, they gather in a group and think up horrible and
cruel punishments for Hester s sin saying, they should have put the brand of a hot iron or her forehead
(Hawthorne 30). They remark that the letter was stitched well but it is meant to laugh in the faces of
the noblemen (Hawthorne 32). Their view on the letter and rejection of Hester based on it is ironic
when she was later requested to make clothes for many in the town, including these women
(Hawthorne 47 137). The clothing Hester stitched was elaborate, much like the letter, and their
willingness to wear it shows that there is sin in everyone, and the Puritans way of dealing with theirs
was to demonize Hester in order to feel as if they were holy (Hawthorne 47). We also notice that in
some minds, there is no way to recover from sin. Hester goes out of her way to provide care to those
around her by nursing them when they were sick, but was sometimes met with a gibe in requital of
food brought regularly to his door, (Hawthorne 90). One might think that Hester has escaped the

In order to be successful, the students must fully dive in and give themselves to writing. Though her
students say that yes they do want to be writers, Dillard questions if they understand what the choice
really means. She asks herself why do I want them to mean it? ; perhaps because just as she can

baroque and romantic era. Although Brahms is considered to be a romantic composer, his music is
unique from others because you can hear both the style of older era composers and features of

My observation that I did was at Biron Head in Kari s toddler room.
Space and furnishing: The classroom I observed has appropriate lighting and has a good room
temperature. I overall did not see any repairs that needed to be done. This classroom and center in
general seems to be well maintained.
Furniture for routine care This classroom has child sized furniture but does not have highchairs at all.
The children eat as group. The classroom is easily accessible having a nice layout making it easy to
get around. The classroom itself is split in half so there is another group of kids on the other side. Due
to the classroom being shared I do think space wise it does seem a bit tight in areas. The classroom has
adult sized chairs that are accessible.
Provision for relaxation: In the classroom, it has a safe zone that contains pillows with breathing
techniques on it. This area is easily accessible to the children always.
Room arrangement: The classroom I am has a child sized bathroom right in it making toileting easy.
The children can get around the room easily as there is open walk spaces and the room is arranged
well. The room itself is not very large as it is shared so there isn t much room to engage in active play.
Display for children: The classroom has different photos and posters displayed there could be more
photos of things such as the children s families and what not. I also did not see a lot of diversity
