The Importance Of Censorship Content On The Internet
With the rise of the Internet, it has given everyone opportunities to stay better connected in the
world today and to be entertained. This has led to the creation of sites like Facebook, Youtube,
Twitter, Reddit, Google, and so many more. A lot of big companies have implemented the internet,
making them more successful and giving them a wider reach for business. With all this freedom,
however, this leads to inappropriate content being on the internet as well. There is an abundance of
violent and sexual content on the internet just like with older media, like movies and music. The
difference is that this unsuitable content is more accessible than before the invention of the
internet. This has caused discussion about whether or not the internet should be censored, and if so,
to what extent. While it is understandable why people do not want inappropriate content around
them in a more accessible way, allowing the bad content lets the good content be just as accessible
as well. The Internet should not be censored for violent and sexual content because this silences
voices that have the right to be heard and slows creativity and originality in art and entertainment.
Additionally, silencing freedom of speechtakes voices away from the people and gives it to the
richest and powerful.
Censoring the Internet would be taking away freedom of speech for the average internet user. The
largest internet censorship system is in China, which censors anything harmless to the Chinese

Critique Of Andy Pye s The Internet Of Things
Critique of Andy Pye s The Internet of Things: Connecting the Unconnected
What the Internet of Things is and how it works
The internet of things (IoT) is comparable to the internet in how it provides communication
connections over a large area public network. The internet is used to connect people to each
other using device connections to a main stream network. The IoT is currently a conceptual
construct of a network system working as a conduit to serve as a direct line of communication
for multiple electrical operated objects. In theory if an object has an on/off toggle switch, then
the object will eventually be able to be connected to the system. The purpose of the IoT is to
provide a medium to connect electrical devices allowing them to work in unison in effort to
improve the efficiency of their operations. Advanced algorithms drive these devices to complete
complex decision making tasks in real time scenarios to improve the efficiency of their operations
(Pye, 2014).
Conceptually the IoT is in the infancy stage, but the foundation for its realization has begun with
the development of the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). This upgrade from the Internet Protocol
version 4 (IPv4) corrects the issue of limited Internet Protocol (IP) Addresses. By expanding the
number of IP addresses available it ensures new objects will be able to connect and communicate
over the vast network (Pye, 2014).

Warrenties in Article Kia Offers HyundaiВґs Warrenty...
From the Los Angeles Times, the following article focuses on a relevant topic from Chapter
twelve in the textbook, Warranties. The article titled, Kia Offers Hyundai s Warranty Coverage (O
Dell, 2000), are relevant topic of Warranty. The article s main subject is focusing on both car
dealers, Kia and Hyundai, where Kia MotorsAmerica launched the longest warranty in the auto
industry, which is identical to Hyundai Motor Americas 10 year, 100,000 mile coverage warranty.
Such a long warranty provides assurance of potential clients that are thinking about buying a Kia,
that the quality of a Kia car is not only new and improved but this warranty signifies that they are

346) Such an explanation from the textbook when applied to the article is very helpful in
understanding that Kia is putting their confidence and character as a company into the warranty,
and any customer dissatisfaction of the product not only hurts the reputation of Kia but it breaches
an understanding of the warranty and thus puts the control in the customer s hands for the term of
that warranty.
Ultimately, in my opinion relative to the article and the topic of warranty in general discussed in
Chapter Twelve, brings to light how a warranty not only is a contract and a written agreement
between the buyer and the seller, but it is an agreement of having a good title, reputation and a
business etiquette that the seller is promising to the buyer. This article also brings to light how the
concept of warranty is not only putting the company s reputation on the line, it is promising
certain performances that if not lived up to would be a breaching of the warranty and thus a
breaking of the trust and reputation of the company between seller and buyer. As described in
Chapter Twelve of the textbook, a good title warranty seems to be what Kia is trying to establish for
its customers, which in my humble opinion is genius to copy Hyundai knowing that their sales
soared after initiating an identical warranty.
This type of warranty although puts the control in the hands of the consumer for the length of the

Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis Of My Existence
The Metamorphosis of Franz Kafka
A picture of my existence... would show a useless wooden stake covered in snow... stuck loosely
at a slant in the ground in a ploughed field on the edge of a vast open plain on a dark winter night .
Franz Kafka
The Metamorphosis (Die Verwandlung 1912), Franz Kafkas best known short story, is a master
work of incredible psychological, sociological and existential malaise. Although his points are
simple and straightforward, this richly layered and textured story is open to many interpreta tions,
making it complex, yet critical to decipher. There is an incredible amount of theories based off of
what this story could possibly symbolize or represent, but it is of the autobiographical in
terpretation that is undeniably the most enlightening. This interpretation allows the reader to gen
uinely understand the tale on an intense level that would not be able to be reached, otherwise. In
order to gain true insight on the autobiographical approach to The Metamorphosis, a brief
examination of his life is required; his thoughts, his beliefs, the acknowledgment of the cruel
circumstances of his life, especially his home life, must be made clear that the anguish of his own
world is the model for the themes in his stories. Born on July 3, 1883, in the Jewish ghetto of
Prague in the Czech Republic, Franz Kafka was the eldest son in his Jewish middle class, German
speaking, family. From the start he was shaping out to be an outsider which was

Dip the brush directly and down 2 or 3 times till the bristles are filled about a 3rd of their length.
Then, making sure your brush does not leak, put it versus the side of the container. Do not run the

After cutting in the corners, work in areas about 3 feet square. Hold the brush so that your thumb

Partition Action Research Paper
d.The Parties to a Partition Action
The parties that must be included in a petition to partition are every joint tenant or tenant in
common who holds an interest in the property, and their spouses. Life tenants, judgment creditors,
mortgage holders, and other lien creditors should also be brought into the proceeding, even though
they are not required parties.
A life tenant in the property may join in the partition proceeding and upon a partition sale will
receive the fair market value of his or her interest. This sum will be paid either in an annual
amount or a lump sum paid out of the proceeds, based on a value of the share of interest in the
land calculated in relation to his or her estimated life expectancy.
Joint tenants or tenants in common may still obtain partition, in kind or by sale, even with the
existence of a lien. If an actual partition is successful, any existing liens will follow the share
allocated to the co tenant who is the debtor and the other tenants will be able to hold their interest
unencumbered by the previously applied liens. If the partition occurs by forced judicial sale then
the purchaser will take the property subject to the liens. The better practice is to make creditors,
mortgagees, or lien holders a party to the petition proceeding so that upon sale of the land the liens
will be extinguished and satisfied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Substantial injury is defined as when the fair market value of each share after partition in kind
would be materially less than if the property was sold as a whole or if the in kind division would

states, will only evaluate pecuniary interest and economic factors alone where deciding which type

Essay on Classroom Observation Report
Classroom Observation
On Monday February 24, 2014 I visited Mrs. Randus third and fourth grade split class at Kline
Elementary. Her classroom consisted of a mixture of third and fourth grade students who were
tested and labeled as gifted in various subject matters. Mrs. Randus was responsible for teaching
the children language and reading skills. The class consisted of an equal number of boys and
girls, along with a wide variety of cultures. According to my observation, Cushner, McClelland, and
Safford (2000) were correct when they stated, Schools, in particular, are cultural crossroads in ...

The web page also contains a daily trivia question that is worth extra credit if answered correctly.
Mrs. Randus classroom exemplified a third wave school (Cushner et al., 2000). The technology
was very impressive and up to date. The students of her class are very lucky to be on the cutting
edge of technology.
When the children returned from recess some of them returned to their seats and began to work
on projects, while others crowded around the computers to view the new additions to their web
site. The children looked excited and eager to learn. It was obvious from the beginning of the
observation that Mrs. Randus practices progressivism (Clark, 2000). Her students were given the
free will to do as they pleased when first entering the classroom. By letting her students explore the
contents of the class web page, they were learning through discovery and working together in
communities around the computers. It was also evident when she started class with a vote that she
practices the progressivism theory of education (Clark, 2000). She asked the children if they
wanted to go to the library first or start class with a game of vocabulary bingo. The excited students
choose bingo, took their seats, and gave their full attention to Mrs. Randus.

Utopia
Utopia The Impossibility of Perfection
The latter end of [this] commonwealth forgets the beginning. ?William Shakespeare, The Tempest
From Plato s The Republic to Karl Marx s Communist Manifesto, the search for a perfect social
state has never stopped; its ultimate goal of achieving a human society that exists in absolute
harmony with all due social justice, however, has proved to be woefully elusive. The pure concept
of a utopia can be theoretically visualized as a perfect geometric circle: one that is seamless, all
inclusive, yet impossible to draw out in reality.
In 1516, Sir Thomas More depicted in his famed Utopia what he envisioned to be an ideal state?one

what else is this, I ask, but first making them thieves and then punishing them for it? (More 14)
What, then, is the root of all these evils? According to Hythloday, it is the economic system that
is built upon the fundamental principle of private ownership: So long as private property
remains, there is no hope at all of effecting a cure and restoring society to good health (More, 29)
Utopia has no currency, no use for precious metals or luxury of any sort, and most importantly
abolishes private ownership. The result, as Hythloday mythically describes it, is a perfect world
in which people leave in accord because they are cut off from the source of greed and envy. In this
world, people develop a complete detachment to the unnecessary material life because they do not
own anything except for their own bodies. Yet despite its apparent seamlessness, this theory is
doomed to fall apart when it is subjected to examination from the capitalistic perspective. When the
fictional More, the representation of the author s other philosophical half, raises the question

What Happens During A Preliminary Hearing In Federal Court
A criminal prosecution usually begins with an arraignment: A preliminary hearing (aka a prelim, a
probable cause hearing, PX and a preliminary examination) is very similar to an arraignment, but it
provides the defendant a greater opportunity for counter argument. In essence, a preliminary hearing
is a trialbefore the trial. It is during the preliminary hearing that the judgeor magistrate decides
whether there is enough evidence for the accused to stand trial. When making his or her
determination, the judge/magistrate uses what is referred to as the probable cause legal standard.
This standard helps him or her decide whether the prosecution has produced a sufficient amount of
evidence to convince a juryof the defendant s guilt.

During a preliminary hearing in federal court, the government s attorney (Prosecutor) will present
evidence to the judge/magistrate: The prosecutor may choose to present physical evidence and/or
call in witnesses to testify. The prosecutor s goal is to prove to the judge/magistrate that there is
enough evidence for the case to go to trial and convince a jury of the defendant s guilt. Once the
prosecution has presented all its evidence and its witnesses have testified, the defense is usually
given the opportunity to respond.
The defense typically has the chance to cross examine any of the witnesses the government has
presented. In addition, any other evidence against the defendant may be called into question. While
each case is unique, the defense usually has the right to call witnesses and provide evidence as
well. The goal of the defense is to show the judge/magistrate that the prosecution does not have a
strong enough case to take to trial and, therefore, convince the judge/magistrate that the case must

historical and contemporary figures, it can be said that Christian ethical teachings have a significant
influence on the lives of its adherents. A prime example of the effects of these teachings is the
nature and practice of Christian environmental ethics. The Stanford Encyclopaedia of Philosophy

The passage of John 10:11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the
sheep emphasises the importance of animals in the hierarchy of creation and Christian s
responsibility to protect and care for them. The issue of Deforestation has been high on the global
environmental agenda for many years, and remains a serious problem today. In the tropics and
many other parts of the world, nations continue to lose the valuable biodiversity, soil and water
conservation, and climate regulation that natural forests provide. Christianity can only address this
matter by continuing to combine an acceptance of the command to people to multiply and replenish
the earth (Genesis 1:28) with a balancing injunction to act as stewards of the environment. Charities
such as Christian Ecology Link and World Vision work to increase awareness of the current
ecological crisis and encourage adherents to live sustainably and make green consumption

How Did The Crusades Affect The Medieval World
IMPACT OF THE CRUSADES ON THE LATE MEDIEVAL WORLD. The Crusades greatly
impacted economic expansion as well as the expansion of Europe as a whole. Europe regained
contact with the outside world, and as it did so, trade with the Middle East, India, and China
brought goods as well as knowledge. Merchants in Italyconverted the ships used to carry crusaders
into trade ships that would sail to the Middle East. The Crusaders introduced textiles, spices, foods
products and many more goods to the Europeans from the Middle East, and through all of this
trade came the development of a money economy. The crusaders brought works from Greek
philosophers back to Europe, where Muslim scholars translated them to Latin which prompted
further learning in the West. Europeans learned new castle building... Show more content on

Christians were introduced to Arabic philosophy and science, and along with this came new
religious orders and practices. The church clashed with monarchs after their power increased, and
after the church did not reunite with the Byzantine empire, many started to question the church s
motives. Now that people had the knowledge and resources to read the bible, some felt as though
this clashed with the previous actions of the church. Although this seemed like a time for religious
tolerance after such a conflict fueled by faith, the Reconquista in Spain expelled Muslims out of
Spain and those who did not convert to Christianity were burned at the steak. The crusades set the
foundation for the Age of Exploration. While the Chinese had been traveling as far as Arabia and
Africa since 618 AD, the Crusades influenced nations such as Spain to explore new travel. The

What Is The Reflection Of African American Literature
Ever since I took Hip Hop Cinema last semester with Dr. Tani Sanchez I have been greatly
interested in African American writing and African American culture in general. This course has
allowed me to become a more cultured and informed person which I believe is a character trait that
is vital in current day society. This piece of writing will further explain why I have found this
African Americanliterature course so interesting and describe memorable things in this course
have made me have strong feelings and then I will relate those interests and feelings to pieces of
literature that we have read throughout the course of the semester in order to tie those interests
and feelings to some examples and personal memories. I believe that the things which I saw as
memorable throughout the course will stick with me long after finals week due to the fact that
they are vital to being an inclusive and understanding culture in my opinion. The most
memorable things that I will take away from this course are how poorly the views towards
African Americans have been and still tend to be, how the Harlem Renaissance was able to play
such a big part in the history of African American culture, and how African American writers
were able to showcase a sense of revolution within their specific pieces of writing. The most
memorable thing I took from this course was with regards to how African Americans have been
viewed throughout American history in popular culture, this course has really been able to
show me how poorly African Americans were viewed by people who were not part of the
diverse African American culture. Over the course of the semester as we saw this theme over
and over again, it was clear that I felt a sense of anger over learning about how poorly African
Americans have been viewed in society and that has led me to sad about how so many people
could have such a negative view on a group of people that live on the same streets in the same
cities as they do. The piece of writing which I would like to compare this memorable part of the
course is Going To Meet The Man by James Baldwin. This text is all about a Sheriff named Jess
who witnesses a lynching when he is taken there for what his father

Environmental And Environmental Challenges In The...
The aquaculture industry has been plagued issues such as water pollution, fish disease outbreaks,
destruction of coastal habitat and escapes that have tarnished its reputation and stimulated
significant backlash against the industry. In response, the industry turned to placing marine farming
systems miles offshore, in deeper waters with large currents to reduce the environmental risks
associated with conventional aquaculture. Studies have shown when cited properly with adequate
flushing rates, offshore aquaculture operations left a neutral nutrient impact on the water column
and had diminished water and benthic pollution. By producing fishin less polluted marine
environments, offshore operations can improve the quality of the product, improve market access,
and increase profit. However, offshore aquaculture still faces a number of sustainability challenges
that jeopardizes the ecological and economical integrity of the sector.
Fish Escapes
Although offshore systems are designed to prevent any escape events, it cannot be guaranteed that
escape will never occur as the sector expands to commercial and industrial scales, even with the
risk of massive escape events caused by extreme weather events are mitigated as submersible cages
are able to withstand and avoid storms. Escapes can occur from human error during cage
maintenance and harvesting, from collision of ships, and vandalism. Escaped fish can cause
potential harm to the marine ecosystem and native species by

Anne of Green Gables Research Essay
Anne of Green Gables Research Essay
Anne of Green Gables is an enchanting tale of a young orphan named Anne Shirley. Anne, who
happens to be an eleven year old orphan at the beginning of the story, eventually gets adopted
mistakenly by Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. Matthew and Marilla were simply looking for a
young male orphan who would be able to assist them with physical work around the house
because Matthew was getting older, and would need an extra hand. Despite having a little girl,
who was useless to them physically, they quickly fell in love with this young girl s goodness and
great qualities. It has recently been discovered that Lucy Maud Montgomery, the author of Anne of

In the novel we can see that Anne is not so fond of religion. When she gets asked to pray, she
simply does it to satisfy Marilla considering how she believes god gave her red hair on purpose.
This is another similarity found between Anne and L.M. Montgomery. At some point in
Montgomery s journals, she explains how she is against orthodox religion (DuVernet, Sylvia, p.7).
There are so many things that we can relate from the author to Anne s character, it may be
coincidental, but considering how Montgomery used writing as a therapeutic relief, it is quite
evident that some of her traits and beliefs such as the aspect of depression and

loneliness were meant to be poured into the book (Rubio, Writing a life: L.M. Montgomery).
Anne s imagination was certainly one of her greatest attributes. Although her imagination
sometimes led her to trouble, it is in fact what made her so special and successful throughout the
novel. A few times in the story, she would catch herself daydreaming and meanwhile accidentally
being the cause of problems. A good example of this was when she was baking the cake; she
ruined it due to being in her own little world. Another case which is actually worst then the
previously stated incident, is when Anne s imagination nearly causes her to drown while reenacting

It is not as hard to figure out as in Walk Two Moons. The story of Walk Two Moons is about a
girl going to her mother s grave and telling her grandparents about her life on the way there. Here
the foreshadowing is not evident until the end of the book, she mentions her mother as if she is
still alive and the author mentions her mother going to Idaho by bus, but not the crash, and that
the main character s father like Mrs. Cadaver, but she does not mention how main character s
mother sat in the seat next to Mrs. Cadaver, and that the father uses her as a connection to the
past. Of Mice and Men, on the other hand, uses foreshadowing in many instances. The many
remarks about what happened in Weed, how Lennie kills mice and dogs earlier in the book,
Curly constantly picking fights with Lennie, and George telling him to hide in the brush many
times, and Lennie saying the ranch is a bad place shows how he could possibly kill something
more intelligent, a human, and that how he will most likely have to hide in the brush eventually,
if you follow Georges thinking. These instances should make it clear that Lennie will eventually
mess up again and have to hide in the brush. The reactions of Curly to Lennie killing his wife is
also foreseeable, Curly dislikes Lennie and most probably uses this as an excuse to get rid of him,
even though is probably angry too. Using these scenarios, if the reader pays attention to

I was just 10 when more than 400 schools were destroyed. Women were flogged. People were
killed. And our beautiful dreams turned into nightmares. These all tie together because of the
emotion brought out. You start to realize just how lucky you are if you have a schoolto attend, a
book to read, or a pencil to write with. There are hundreds and thousands, if not millions of kids
around the world that want an education more than anything, but there are also people who take
it for granted which makes you appreciate how much you really have. In more ways than one,
logos is used here also. Malala has experienced first hand the struggles kids go through everyday
to try and receive and education. She mentions how women were flogged, beaten severely with
sticks, and even killed, just trying to receive and education. These are all first hand experiences
that Malala has gone through, as well as millions of other girls.
Throughout the reading, the authors tone stays the same, very serious and demanding. More than
anything Malala wants education to be available to everyone, not just people in countries who don

about this is serious, it is letting the audience know that you need education. When my world

illusion (Nicol, 2006, p. 67). Celebrities may appear magical or superhuman (Rojek, 2001, p. 13),
but that is often because they are cultural fabrications (Rojek, 2001, p. 10). This can be thanks to
the celebritys management and public relations team, but it is chiefly credited to the media, who
can build up a celebrities image or tear it down. Following Lennon s death, the media universally

somewhat tenuous (McCutcheon, Lange, Houran, 2002, p. 69). The act of stalking revolves
around desires and emotions we all share (Nicol, 2006, p. 13), so by criminalizing stalkers, society
absolves the rest of us from recognizing unreasonable, possessive tendencies with respect to stars in
our own habitual behaviour (Rojek, 2012, p. 50). Even though the MailOnline article had the
advantage of hindsight, it still criticizes Chapman for his inappropriate obsession, meanwhile,

Oodgeroo Noonuccal Gum Trees
Tone/Connotations: Somewhere in the city, the speaker of the poem crosses a gumtree in her
path, which stands in the street, the roots of the tree covered in hard, black bitumen, the sight of
which inspired the tone of this poem. In these surroundings, the gum tree does not belong here.
Rather in a forest where it can grow wild and be free. The phrase wild birds stresses the idea of
freedom in the wilderness. This contrasts with the trees situation; stuck in a prison of bitumen,
unable to be free. At the start of the poem, Oodgeroo Noonuccal develops a tone of despair and
hopelessness, using phrases like hard bitumen at your feet and like that poor cart horse . This tone
continues throughout the poem and leads up to a short and emotion evoking end. What have they

Traffic Congestion and the Pollution it Creates is...
According to the Toronto Environmental Office, vehicles are responsible for 35% of all
greenhouse gases (GHG) produced in Toronto (City of Toronto, 2011), and the Clean Air
Partnership estimates that idling in the GTHA wastes 90 million litres of fuel each year (ibid),
which further justifies the need to combat gridlockand traffic congestionwith effective government
policies. Air is a transboundary problem therefore no one jurisdiction, whether it is a municipality,

addition, each have their own authority to uphold air quality for its residents but cannot control the

Cooperation will be key in combating decreasing air quality as a result of gridlock and traffic
congestion.
Although air quality falls under different jurisdictions and is subject to various laws and
regulations that cross municipal and provincial jurisdictions, municipal governments can exert
control, even with their limited powers, by creating bylaws that help increase the air quality in
Toronto. On top of creating bylaws within the city, the municipalities must ensure that they work
with the different levels of governments to pass worthwhile laws and regulations across the
province that will help reverse the decreasing air quality in the GTHA and in the province in
general. Traffic Congestion has been a problem for those living in the city and those commuting
to the city for years now. The Toronto Region Board of Trade (2013) points out how investing in
the regional transportation plan, also known as The Big Move, which was developed by the
Province s regional transportation agency Metrolinx, is key to improving roads and highways for
drivers across the GTHA (p. 2) and therefore decreasing the negative affects from gridlock and
traffic congestion. There a number of ways improvements can be made including, but not limited
to, investing in public transportation, improving intraregional bottlenecks (ibid.) and increasing
tickets and fines (Heisey, 2013, p. 2), along with many other important changes, all of which will
require legal action and political cooperation.

To begin, Faust is a fictional scholar in literature who sells his soul to the Devil. The legend is
loosely based on an actual magician who lived in northern Germany during the fifteenth century.
Faust was once idealistic, but now disillusioned and bitter with despair. He foresakes God and
makes a perilous deal with the Devil in which he commits his soul to eternal damnation in return for
power and knowledgein this life (The legend of Faustfrom the Renaissance times, 2016). Faust has
studied for years without pleasing progress and loses his faith in his idealism. In his frustration,

Mordor s Rings Essay
I smell it in the air. Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it.
It began with the forging of the Great Rings. Three were given to the Elves, immortal, wisest and
fairest of all beings. Seven to the Dwarf Lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls.
And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power. For within
these rings was bound the strength and the will to govern each race. But they were all of them
deceived, for another ring was made. Deep in the land of Mordor, in the Fires of Mount Doom, the
Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret a master ring to control all others, and into this ring he poured
his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life. One ring to rule them all. ... Show more

What Is The Mood Of The Lady Of Shalott
In the poem The Lady of Shalott, we find a woman, who is trapped inside of her own home by a
curse. She is faced with the fact that she cannot experience reality due to this curse that for
whatever reason has been placed on her. The poet uses imagery and symbolism to portray the
feelings in the story as well as the hidden meanings within the poem. Imagery within the story
poses the mood of the setting. The poem states, Four gray walls, and four gray towers, overlook
a space of flowers (Part 1, Stanza 2). The poet describes the place in which the lady dwells as being

reality, what is seen is not the actual thing. The loom acts in a similar way. As the woman slaves

Chickpeas Temperature Experiment
According to Figure 1, the production of carbon dioxide changed based on the temperature the
chickpeas were placed in. It seemed that the chickpeas placed into the ice bucket at 5В°C
produced the most carbon dioxide; however, this is not the case since the figure is only showing
measuring the amount of ppm s recorded by the carbon dioxidesensor. To get an accurate
determination if temperatureaffected cellular respirationof chickpeas, finding the slopes of the
lines was necessary which was done in Table 1. This is done by using the mathematical formula
m=(y2 y1)/(x2 x1) with the y being the y coordinate and x being the x coordinate. To be consistent

The chickpeas in the hottest temperature tested produced the most amount of carbon dioxide
meaning that the cellular respiration rate of the chickpeas was increased. The coldest temperature
tested also produced the least amount of carbon dioxide meaning cellular respiration decreased in
those chickpeas. For the most part the experiment ran more smoothly than expected. A few time
during testing the test chamber was knock over but these accident had a minimal effect on the final
outcome. There were sudden jumps when testing the runs in Figure 1, but the jumps were never
major enough to cause a retrial. These jumps can be attributed to the fact that the carbon dioxide
production was taken every 10 seconds in the 240 second experiment so anything outside
disturbance during that time was reflected in the data. Overall the data completely supports the
hypothesis. The 42В°C run produced the highest slope, the 5В°C run produced the lowest slope,
and the room temperature (22В°) run was in between the two other slopes. The 5В°C run did have
the most amount of ppm s recorded, but this means nothing in the long run since the slope was still
the lowest meaning it produced the least amount of carbon dioxide over the 4 minutes. The results
obtained corresponded with other students in the class who also tested the relationship between
cellular respiration and temperature as well as the studies discussed in the introduction

Personal Statement On Self Confidence
learnt at university, to plan out my vision before expressing it. This will help others buy in to
my vision. To do this, I will need to improve my self confidence. Self confidence is an important
characteristic of successful leaders. Cavallo and Brienza (2006) explain that self confidence
assists in the imaging process. Having self confidence not only helps, when and how well you
explain your vision, but, can help in developing an advanced vision (Sosik Dinger, 2007). Sosik
and Dinger (2007) state that confident leaders are able to portray their idea in a way that
facilitates trust, necessary for implementation. This is something that I have always struggled
with, I have always doubted my ability and skills. This makes me shy a way of sharing ideas and
for fighting for them. On placement, I would often use language that was discouraging of
myself as a social work practitioner and my skill set. My supervisor stated, that I need to be
more confident in what I bring to the organization. From this, I realized as a future practitioner
near my final stages of my degree, self confidence is a characteristic that I need to really further
develop. This is because, there is a need as a professional, to be confident in my own practice, in
order for my future clients and colleagues to trust in my ability. According to Adams and Adams
(2008) there is a perception of power that clients feel. This perception, is that they assume that the

On Saturday September 21 the terror began and continued for eighty hours. Al Shabaab militants
brought chaos and confusion to the people of Nairobi and 67 people were counted as loss to the
lunacy that is thought to be heroic actions for Allah. Most people would say that suspicious
behavior is someone acting strangely trying to hide there appearance but the truth is certain for
both cases as this group of about seven cowards moved towards the mall with guns blazing.
Frank Musungu, who worked for the Kenyan navy was advised along with other military
personnel not to go to high profile malls like this one in case of a terrorist attack. Munsungu,
knowing this danger carried a hand gun with him to the little cafГ© near the entrance of the
mall where the terrorist arrived with guns blazing. The events that took place the day those
crazy people walking into the west gate mall were truly tragic and need to be assessed. Men who
were told not to go to this mall for security reasons did so anyway. The problem is not necessary
to the solution in this case because it is obvious that the reason to take action was before the events
took place. Suspicious behavior was already a factor concerning the safety of the west gate mall.
Why actions were not taken to detour this atrocity is beyond my knowledge and understanding as
to why precautions were not taken to neutralize the enemy before it happened.

Scene Analysis Of Goodfellas
For my scene analysis, I will be talking about the scenes in Martin Scorsese s film, Goodfellas
that take place inside the nightclub. The film portrays the true story of mobster Henry Hill
(played by Ray Liotta) who grows up in the mob and works hard to advance himself through the
ranks. He enjoys his life of money and luxury, but is oblivious to the horror that he causes.
During the film, the mobsters spend a lot of their time enjoying themselves at a nightclub they
frequent called the Copacabana . In Goodfellas, the Copacabana is a high class nightclub littered
with mafia gangsters and low key lighting with a red tint and a Hawaiian theme. The scenes were
shot by cinematographer, Michael Ballhaus. Inside the club, the lighting is primarily dark with a
tint of red which appears to be coming from the practicals seen within the shots. This is clearly to
give off a dark mafia vibe within the setting of the film. The DP wants the audience to have a
sense of slight discomfort within the nightclub and to foreshadow the dark events that take place
throughout the rest of the film. The style of lighting displays the mafia lifestyle as something that
is filled with murder, deception, and constant fear . Bright lighting is only used during happy
events during the film such as Henry and Karen s wedding and to give off positive vibes for that
moment. The scenes inside the nightclub seem to have a lighting ratio of around 8:1, so it s
accurate to say the setting appeared pretty

how she conveys her message. The opening lines of the poem show how strong her feelings are for

I m really surprised to learn that this was not common back for puritan women back then. In my
opinion, the author is very open about how she feels about her husband. You can tell that
throughout the poem she is repeating herself and stressing on the same idea over and over
again. She praises, adores, and loves her husband and is taking an initiative to show it by writing
this letter to him. It s interesting how she began the poem by using the word ever in the first two
lines and how she ended it with the same word on line 12. Then while we live, in love lets so
persevere That when we live no more, we may live ever. I would like to end my analysis of this
poem by stating a paradox that can be found at the end of the poem in lines 11 12. Her love for
her husband is on such a level that she wants to preserve it while they live and even after they die.
It s amazing to me how much love one can have for a person. The poem s main idea is not just
centralized on how much Bradstreet loves her husband, but also on a Puritan woman who takes the

Privatization Of The NHS
NHS PRIVATIZATION
INTRODUCTION
In the post war reconstruction, due to squalors and diseases. The National Health Service (NHS)
was established on 5 July 1948. It was thought that all sectors in health service should be under one
umbrella due to advancement in medicine and pharmaceutical industry, creating new drugs such as
Antibiotics, better Anaesthetic agents, Cortisone and drugs for the treatment of Mental illness and
other ailments. The creation of NHS was a momentous achievement despite earlier professional
opposition to some of the details.
Principles of NHS
The NHS was created out of the ideal that good healthcare should be available to all, regardless of
wealth. When it was launched by the then minister of health, Aneurin Bevan, on ... Show more

Believe that the NHS should not to be privatised but reformed to meet the challenges of the 21st
century while remaining in the public sector. She pointed out that across the country, the NHS is
selling off its land and buildings and closing its services. This is happening at an unprecedented
rate which is switching NHS funds and services away from NHS services to the private sector. The
total debt is ВЈ50bn rising to ВЈ90bn and will lock in future governments and future taxpayers for
many decades to come. The NHS currently pays ВЈ0.5bn pounds a year in PFI charges and this
debt is set to quadruple to ВЈ2.3bn a year by 2010. The beneficiaries are the banks, the shareholders
and the venture capitalists, the construction industry and facilities management. The losers are the
service users, staff and the British public. (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2007/oct

CONCLUSION
I believe the NHS should be privatised as the service (NHS) needs help. Partial or full privatisation
can provide the service with well deserve funds it needs to improve the service.
People are living longer, population is increasing by the day. Public spending is insufficient hence
the infusion of private funds can assist in providing the 1st class health service that the people
required.
Government must however put in place some safety net for check and balances. example protection

The Political Forces Of Colombia
Colombia has been struggling with internal conflict for most of its 204 year history. Since the
late 1800s the main reason for conflict would be divisions between bipartisan political forces.
Bloody civil wars dot the history of Colombia but perhaps the most significant period in
Colombian violence would be the clash between the Colombian Liberal Party and the Colombian
Conservative Party in the 1940s. This would culminate into one of the bloodiest civil wars in the
country s history, which would simply be called La Violencia (The Violence). The Colombian
Liberal Party had maintained hegemony in Colombiathrough the 1930s and 40s, politically
sidelining the Colombian Conservative Party. The presidential elections of 1946, however, would
change this. Liberal candidates, Gabriel Turbay and Jorge EliГ©cer GaitГЎn, would split the vote
and, therefore, cause the victory of Mariano Ospina PГ©rez, a member of the conservative party.
The conservatives had suffered condemnation from the liberals since 1930 and now that the latter s
power had manifested in Colombia the tides would shift toward conservative retaliation. Peasants
armed by the Colombian Liberal Party sprung up in order to wage war on the government. This
marked the beginning of a notable rise in political resentment toward either party by their
counterpart. The catalyst that would spark the intense period of violence was the assassination of
Jorge EliГ©cer GaitГЎn, a wildly popular liberal presidential candidate who was

Modern Heroes In Modern Society
Everyone has had an experience with a hero at least once in their life. People sometimes view
real people as heroes while others have fictional heroes. Whether a person s hero is fictional or
real, everyone has one. Having a hero plays an important role in a person s life. They help
provide children with support while they are growing and developing. Heroes are role models
to children. They look up to their heroes and aspire to be like them. That is why it is so
fundamental for children to have worthy heroes. The concept of heroes has been around for
hundreds of years, dating all the way back to Ancient Greece. Over time, heroes have drastically
changed. As society has evolved, our heroes have evolved with it. Their goals and motivations
have changed to coincide with the views of modern society. Modern day heroes are better role
models for children than ancient heroes because they have less selfish motives, better qualities, and
are portrayed
The word heroism brings to mind different things to different people. This is because people tend to
have different concepts of heroism and what it means. The definition of heroism has changed a lot
since ancient times and will continue to change. Despite these changes, there are a few things about
heroes that will never change. A herocan be described as a person who is admired for courage,
achievements, or noble qualities. Both ancient and modern day heroes are idealized for possessing
these traits. Heroes, no matter from what time period, will always be powerful, strong, brave, and
valued. Some people may argue that heroes have remained fundamentally the same, but there are
some key differences that show just how much our heroes have changed since Ancient Greece.
In ancient times, heroes had a different motivation for performing good deeds than they do now.
Life was a lot harder during these times because food, water, and timber for building was scarce.
This caused many ancient heroes to have selfish motives. They only did certain tasks to gain
something from it. An example of an ancient hero with selfish motives is Odysseus. The article
Myth of the Legendary Odysseus states that on his long journey home, Odysseus only completed
quests that would benefit him and

LUXURY BRAND MARKETING
What is LUXURY?
While the word luxury is used in daily lives to refer to certain lifestyle, the underlying construct s
definition is consumer and situation specific. If you earn less than 15000 a month, a pair of
reebok shoes would be a really big luxury item for you. On the other hand, if you are going to a
party with some big wigs a $100,000 car may not be a luxury. The word luxury originates from the
Latin term luxus signifying, soft or extravagant living, indulgence, sumptuousness or opulence
The meaning of luxury is extremely subjective and multidimensional in nature. It depends on

Diversifying Teaching Styles to Meet the Needs of All...
Diversifying Teaching Styles to Meet the Needs of All Learners When researching about education,
one often finds a great deal of literature and information about learning styles. Educators spend
countless hours studying their students in order to find out how they learn best. All students have
needs when it comes to how they learn and educators must be able to meet those needs in order to
promote successful learning in their classrooms. This (paper/article) will focus on teaching
strategies and how to vary them so that each learning style preference is addressed, therefore
increasing the level of achievement of each student and making learning a successful outcome in
the classroom. Strategies, or methods of instruction,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These suggestions will increase the amount of learning for students in your classroom. There
have been several publications written on the topic of teaching styles and sifting through all the
information can be tedious. The first, and most obvious, place to start would be to discuss a
little about how learning occurs. The brain is a complex organ that scientists are still studying.
Much has been learned about the brain, but much more needs to be researched. One thing that
has been studied a great deal is memory and how it works. All human beings use their memory to
learn. Information that has been learned was processed in the short term memory and stored in
the long term memory. We retrieve the information through recall, recognition, and encoding
specificity. Recall is a simple retrieval of information. Recognition involves a set of pre
generated stimuli presented to learners for a decision or judgment (Driscoll, 2000). For example,
when one hears the words Oh say can you see... one automatically recognizes it as the opening line
to the national anthem. The encoding specificity principle states that whatever cues are to facilitate
encoding will also serve as the best retrieval cues for remembering (Driscoll, 2000). For example,
wearing the same clothes to take a test as when studying for the test will increase the likelihood of
recalling the information

The trading of MP3 s or digital music over the Internet is all ways going to be prevalent part of the

over the Internet would cost record companies more money than what they are losing due to MP3

The main legal controversy involved with MP3 file s is that they are being traded around the Internet
without the artist consent of the artist or record companies.
Kimmel (1997) states the following:
It seem obvious that the use of MP3 technology does not for the most part, meet the requirements,
set by the Copyright Law of 1976, to clam fair use for educational purposes.
These arguments can include protection gaps, where copyright treaties only protect material for a
certain amount of time, thus making produced and distributed after this gap has expired legal.
Another legal justification of bootleg recordings is that the copyright is not owned by the artist,
publisher, or record company, though this defense has not been as successful as the protection gap
defense.
This is what is making it easy for sites to be around such as MP3.com and programs such as

Rhetoric Spirituality
Plastic Spirituality
The Hellenic world worshipped beauty. The cult of the body was born from the Greeks, as well
as rhetoric, the art of speaking pretty , the whole problem is when the appearance has no
essence. When the label does not match the content or the cries of the preachers are not cries of
the heart, but only expedients of those who want to call attention to themselves. I see so many
people today who play, sing and preach in the church trying to impress. They have the need for
people to see them. When I see falsettos, in order to demonstrate how well they can sing, and
preachers in need of self esteem trying to just promote themselves, I see the spirit of Greece. The
more impressive are the people that feed this pride disguised in good preaching. In the first century,
the Pharisees acquired a religion of rituals and outer manners, which was condemned by Jesus who
called them hypokrites (the actors) because they were staging a spirituality without internal content.
They were defined as whitewashed tombs, cute on the outside and rotten on the inside, that
represented a role, as many of their spiritual descendants today, whose ethics are just aesthetic. ...

Many take this expression to condemn the matter, the earth, and the planet. Now, Jesus refers to

Paul calls it, once we penetrate into what shows to be the surface, we find the true nature of
things. There are many Christians like that, with a plastic spirituality, an outer beauty that does not
have essence and does not reflect the true nature of what is seen. The Pharisees in those days, as
in our days, are those people that although they seem to be profound, are in fact pro funds. Have

Essay on Dr. Daedalus, Lauren Slater essay which depicts...
Human Into Animals
There are humans in the world that strive to become more animal like. Whether they just act like
ones, or have surgical operations to look more like one, they try to become more like an animal.
In her essay, Dr. Daedalus, Lauren Slater suggests that by altering our physical selves to emulate
something more animal, our brains, and possibly even our souls, we become somehow more
animal as well. She feels that we transform, and become more animal like every time we alter our
body into the form of an animal. Slater is correct to point out that when we change our self to look
more like animals we might have more in physical features in common with them, but she fails to
look at how our identities do not change. We look... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She straightforward states the assumption that we are different from animals because we have
this core is wrong. The reasoning is that we know that scientifically there is no center to the brain
where everything happens and all of our thoughts join. Each part works on its own; there is no
centralized part in the brain. We know enough about the brain for scientists to say that there is no
core of the brain where we can find the little me resides. Keeping all this in mind, we can base the
idea that when our bodies change, and we become more animal like, our mentality is affected
too. We might think we more like a lizard if we scale our skin, therefore we would act more like
a lizard. The problem is we think we re the lizard, but our brain doesn t become like a lizard s.
We don t start thinking like a lizard. Most importantly, we don t lose our meme; the meme isn t
even somewhat changed. We only show how versatile our power of meme is.
When we add a new part to our body, or change it is some form, our brain adopts to those
changes. Lauren Slater basis her idea on that we change who we are when our brain adapts these
new changes. She feels that when we get a procedure one on ourselves to look more like an
animal; we are in fact going to become a little more like that animal. Slater quotes Joe Rosen in
her essay, if I were to attach a third thumb, your brain would map it, absolutely. Our bodies change
our brains and our brains are

  • 2. The Importance Of Censorship Content On The Internet With the rise of the Internet, it has given everyone opportunities to stay better connected in the world today and to be entertained. This has led to the creation of sites like Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Reddit, Google, and so many more. A lot of big companies have implemented the internet, making them more successful and giving them a wider reach for business. With all this freedom, however, this leads to inappropriate content being on the internet as well. There is an abundance of violent and sexual content on the internet just like with older media, like movies and music. The difference is that this unsuitable content is more accessible than before the invention of the internet. This has caused discussion about whether or not the internet should be censored, and if so, to what extent. While it is understandable why people do not want inappropriate content around them in a more accessible way, allowing the bad content lets the good content be just as accessible as well. The Internet should not be censored for violent and sexual content because this silences voices that have the right to be heard and slows creativity and originality in art and entertainment. Additionally, silencing freedom of speechtakes voices away from the people and gives it to the richest and powerful. Censoring the Internet would be taking away freedom of speech for the average internet user. The largest internet censorship system is in China, which censors anything harmless to the Chinese Communist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Critique Of Andy Pye s The Internet Of Things Critique of Andy Pye s The Internet of Things: Connecting the Unconnected What the Internet of Things is and how it works The internet of things (IoT) is comparable to the internet in how it provides communication connections over a large area public network. The internet is used to connect people to each other using device connections to a main stream network. The IoT is currently a conceptual construct of a network system working as a conduit to serve as a direct line of communication for multiple electrical operated objects. In theory if an object has an on/off toggle switch, then the object will eventually be able to be connected to the system. The purpose of the IoT is to provide a medium to connect electrical devices allowing them to work in unison in effort to improve the efficiency of their operations. Advanced algorithms drive these devices to complete complex decision making tasks in real time scenarios to improve the efficiency of their operations (Pye, 2014). Conceptually the IoT is in the infancy stage, but the foundation for its realization has begun with the development of the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). This upgrade from the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) corrects the issue of limited Internet Protocol (IP) Addresses. By expanding the number of IP addresses available it ensures new objects will be able to connect and communicate over the vast network (Pye, 2014). The article titled, Kia Offers Hyundai s Warranty Coverage (O Dell, 2000), are relevant topic of Warranty. The article s main subject is focusing on both car dealers, Kia and Hyundai, where Kia MotorsAmerica launched the longest warranty in the auto industry, which is identical to Hyundai Motor Americas 10 year, 100,000 mile coverage warranty. Such a long warranty provides assurance of potential clients that are thinking about buying a Kia, that the quality of a Kia car is not only new and improved but this warranty signifies that they are more than confident that their vehicle is worth such a long warranty with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 346) Such an explanation from the textbook when applied to the article is very helpful in understanding that Kia is putting their confidence and character as a company into the warranty, and any customer dissatisfaction of the product not only hurts the reputation of Kia but it breaches an understanding of the warranty and thus puts the control in the customer s hands for the term of that warranty. Ultimately, in my opinion relative to the article and the topic of warranty in general discussed in Chapter Twelve, brings to light how a warranty not only is a contract and a written agreement between the buyer and the seller, but it is an agreement of having a good title, reputation and a business etiquette that the seller is promising to the buyer. This article also brings to light how the concept of warranty is not only putting the company s reputation on the line, it is promising certain performances that if not lived up to would be a breaching of the warranty and thus a breaking of the trust and reputation of the company between seller and buyer. As described in Chapter Twelve of the textbook, a good title warranty seems to be what Kia is trying to establish for its customers, which in my humble opinion is genius to copy Hyundai knowing that their sales soared after initiating an identical warranty. This type of warranty although puts the control in the hands of the consumer for the length of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis Of My Existence The Metamorphosis of Franz Kafka A picture of my existence... would show a useless wooden stake covered in snow... stuck loosely at a slant in the ground in a ploughed field on the edge of a vast open plain on a dark winter night . Franz Kafka The Metamorphosis (Die Verwandlung 1912), Franz Kafkas best known short story, is a master work of incredible psychological, sociological and existential malaise. Although his points are simple and straightforward, this richly layered and textured story is open to many interpreta tions, making it complex, yet critical to decipher. There is an incredible amount of theories based off of what this story could possibly symbolize or represent, but it is of the autobiographical in terpretation that is undeniably the most enlightening. This interpretation allows the reader to gen uinely understand the tale on an intense level that would not be able to be reached, otherwise. In order to gain true insight on the autobiographical approach to The Metamorphosis, a brief examination of his life is required; his thoughts, his beliefs, the acknowledgment of the cruel circumstances of his life, especially his home life, must be made clear that the anguish of his own world is the model for the themes in his stories. Born on July 3, 1883, in the Jewish ghetto of Prague in the Czech Republic, Franz Kafka was the eldest son in his Jewish middle class, German speaking, family. Partition Action Research Paper d.The Parties to a Partition Action The parties that must be included in a petition to partition are every joint tenant or tenant in common who holds an interest in the property, and their spouses. Life tenants, judgment creditors, mortgage holders, and other lien creditors should also be brought into the proceeding, even though they are not required parties. A life tenant in the property may join in the partition proceeding and upon a partition sale will receive the fair market value of his or her interest. This sum will be paid either in an annual amount or a lump sum paid out of the proceeds, based on a value of the share of interest in the land calculated in relation to his or her estimated life expectancy. Joint tenants or tenants in common may still obtain partition, in kind or by sale, even with the existence of a lien. If an actual partition is successful, any existing liens will follow the share allocated to the co tenant who is the debtor and the other tenants will be able to hold their interest unencumbered by the previously applied liens. If the partition occurs by forced judicial sale then the purchaser will take the property subject to the liens. When the children returned from recess some of them returned to their seats and began to work on projects, while others crowded around the computers to view the new additions to their web site. The children looked excited and eager to learn. It was obvious from the beginning of the observation that Mrs. Randus practices progressivism (Clark, 2000). Her students were given the free will to do as they pleased when first entering the classroom. By letting her students explore the contents of the class web page, they were learning through discovery and working together in communities around the computers. It was also evident when she started class with a vote that she practices the progressivism theory of education (Clark, 2000). Utopia Utopia The Impossibility of Perfection The latter end of [this] commonwealth forgets the beginning. ?William Shakespeare, The Tempest From Plato s The Republic to Karl Marx s Communist Manifesto, the search for a perfect social state has never stopped; its ultimate goal of achieving a human society that exists in absolute harmony with all due social justice, however, has proved to be woefully elusive. The pure concept of a utopia can be theoretically visualized as a perfect geometric circle: one that is seamless, all inclusive, yet impossible to draw out in reality. The result, as Hythloday mythically describes it, is a perfect world in which people leave in accord because they are cut off from the source of greed and envy. In this world, people develop a complete detachment to the unnecessary material life because they do not own anything except for their own bodies. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep emphasises the importance of animals in the hierarchy of creation and Christian s responsibility to protect and care for them. The issue of Deforestation has been high on the global environmental agenda for many years, and remains a serious problem today. In the tropics and many other parts of the world, nations continue to lose the valuable biodiversity, soil and water conservation, and climate regulation that natural forests provide. Christianity can only address this matter by continuing to combine an acceptance of the command to people to multiply and replenish the earth (Genesis 1:28) with a balancing injunction to act as stewards of the environment. Charities such as Christian Ecology Link and World Vision work to increase awareness of the current ecological crisis and encourage adherents to live sustainably and make green consumption choices.Significant contemporary and historical religious figures have also had been highly influential towards the ethical attitudes and practices of Christians. • 14. How Did The Crusades Affect The Medieval World IMPACT OF THE CRUSADES ON THE LATE MEDIEVAL WORLD. The Crusades greatly impacted economic expansion as well as the expansion of Europe as a whole. Europe regained contact with the outside world, and as it did so, trade with the Middle East, India, and China brought goods as well as knowledge. Merchants in Italyconverted the ships used to carry crusaders into trade ships that would sail to the Middle East. The Crusaders introduced textiles, spices, foods products and many more goods to the Europeans from the Middle East, and through all of this trade came the development of a money economy. The crusaders brought works from Greek philosophers back to Europe, where Muslim scholars translated them to Latin which prompted further learning in the West. • 15. What Is The Reflection Of African American Literature Ever since I took Hip Hop Cinema last semester with Dr. Tani Sanchez I have been greatly interested in African American writing and African American culture in general. This course has allowed me to become a more cultured and informed person which I believe is a character trait that is vital in current day society. This piece of writing will further explain why I have found this African Americanliterature course so interesting and describe memorable things in this course have made me have strong feelings and then I will relate those interests and feelings to pieces of literature that we have read throughout the course of the semester in order to tie those interests and feelings to some examples and personal memories. I believe that the things which I saw as memorable throughout the course will stick with me long after finals week due to the fact that they are vital to being an inclusive and understanding culture in my opinion. The most memorable things that I will take away from this course are how poorly the views towards African Americans have been and still tend to be, how the Harlem Renaissance was able to play such a big part in the history of African American culture, and how African American writers were able to showcase a sense of revolution within their specific pieces of writing. The most memorable thing I took from this course was with regards to how African Americans have been viewed throughout American history in popular culture, this course has really been able to show me how poorly African Americans were viewed by people who were not part of the diverse African American culture. Over the course of the semester as we saw this theme over and over again, it was clear that I felt a sense of anger over learning about how poorly African Americans have been viewed in society and that has led me to sad about how so many people could have such a negative view on a group of people that live on the same streets in the same cities as they do. The piece of writing which I would like to compare this memorable part of the course is Going To Meet The Man by James Baldwin. The aquaculture industry has been plagued issues such as water pollution, fish disease outbreaks, destruction of coastal habitat and escapes that have tarnished its reputation and stimulated significant backlash against the industry. In response, the industry turned to placing marine farming systems miles offshore, in deeper waters with large currents to reduce the environmental risks associated with conventional aquaculture. Studies have shown when cited properly with adequate flushing rates, offshore aquaculture operations left a neutral nutrient impact on the water column and had diminished water and benthic pollution. By producing fishin less polluted marine environments, offshore operations can improve the quality of the product, improve market access, and increase profit. However, offshore aquaculture still faces a number of sustainability challenges that jeopardizes the ecological and economical integrity of the sector. Fish Escapes Although offshore systems are designed to prevent any escape events, it cannot be guaranteed that escape will never occur as the sector expands to commercial and industrial scales, even with the risk of massive escape events caused by extreme weather events are mitigated as submersible cages are able to withstand and avoid storms. Escapes can occur from human error during cage maintenance and harvesting, from collision of ships, and vandalism. Anne, who happens to be an eleven year old orphan at the beginning of the story, eventually gets adopted mistakenly by Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. Matthew and Marilla were simply looking for a young male orphan who would be able to assist them with physical work around the house because Matthew was getting older, and would need an extra hand. In the novel we can see that Anne is not so fond of religion. When she gets asked to pray, she simply does it to satisfy Marilla considering how she believes god gave her red hair on purpose. This is another similarity found between Anne and L.M. Montgomery. At some point in Montgomery s journals, she explains how she is against orthodox religion (DuVernet, Sylvia, p.7). There are so many things that we can relate from the author to Anne s character, it may be coincidental, but considering how Montgomery used writing as a therapeutic relief, it is quite evident that some of her traits and beliefs such as the aspect of depression and Hurtubise 4 loneliness were meant to be poured into the book (Rubio, Writing a life: L.M. Montgomery). Anne s imagination was certainly one of her greatest attributes. Although her imagination sometimes led her to trouble, it is in fact what made her so special and successful throughout the novel. A few times in the story, she would catch herself daydreaming and meanwhile accidentally being the cause of problems. A good example of this was when she was baking the cake; she ruined it due to being in her own little world. In these surroundings, the gum tree does not belong here. Rather in a forest where it can grow wild and be free. The phrase wild birds stresses the idea of freedom in the wilderness. Air is a transboundary problem therefore no one jurisdiction, whether it is a municipality, province, country or continent, can completely control the air in which its residents breathe in. Although air quality falls under different jurisdictions and is subject to various laws and regulations that cross municipal and provincial jurisdictions, municipal governments can exert control, even with their limited powers, by creating bylaws that help increase the air quality in Toronto. On top of creating bylaws within the city, the municipalities must ensure that they work with the different levels of governments to pass worthwhile laws and regulations across the province that will help reverse the decreasing air quality in the GTHA and in the province in general. Traffic Congestion has been a problem for those living in the city and those commuting to the city for years now. There were sudden jumps when testing the runs in Figure 1, but the jumps were never major enough to cause a retrial. These jumps can be attributed to the fact that the carbon dioxide production was taken every 10 seconds in the 240 second experiment so anything outside disturbance during that time was reflected in the data. Overall the data completely supports the hypothesis. The 42В°C run produced the highest slope, the 5В°C run produced the lowest slope, and the room temperature (22В°) run was in between the two other slopes. When Beatrice s cousin, Rodolfo and Marco (two brother seeking refuge in the USA) appeared on the scene all things changed as the story finally unfolds in a tragic bloody death. Eddie s wife, Beatrice, was aware of the deeper, more disturbing reason for Eddie s protectiveness towards Catherine. Nevertheless, Catherine is very selfish in her behaviour, had Catherine listened to Eddie and retained respect for him, she might have not have fallen for Rodolfo and caused the chain of events leading to the tragedy. Catherine should have been more conscientious, more obedient and resisted Rodolfo s advance at Eddie s behest. Catherine was careless, absent minded and inattentive. In this article, Robert McCartney, a newspaper reporter from the Washington Post who also has his own radio show, interviews a Washington D.C. doctor about gun violence. Dr. Janis Orlowski, former chief medical officer of a D.C. area hospital, Medstar Washington Hospital Center, is all but a stranger to the effects of gun violence. Growing up in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, she was one of eight siblings, and her father loved to hunt. She stated that she had been around guns all of her life, not only at home, but throughout her community. While she does believe that something needs to be done about the gun laws, and she would support them, she also believes it is not the sole answer. This is coming from a doctor, who sees the awful, tragic effects of gunshot wounds every single day. As the chief medical officer, she is in charge of over 6,000 staff members. During a news brief following a shooting at a Navy yard, her sincere though trajectory had inadvertently made her a local and national celebrity. She said; Put my trauma center out of business.... • 35. Scene Analysis Of Goodfellas For my scene analysis, I will be talking about the scenes in Martin Scorsese s film, Goodfellas that take place inside the nightclub. The film portrays the true story of mobster Henry Hill (played by Ray Liotta) who grows up in the mob and works hard to advance himself through the ranks. He enjoys his life of money and luxury, but is oblivious to the horror that he causes. During the film, the mobsters spend a lot of their time enjoying themselves at a nightclub they frequent called the Copacabana . In Goodfellas, the Copacabana is a high class nightclub littered with mafia gangsters and low key lighting with a red tint and a Hawaiian theme. The scenes were shot by cinematographer, Michael Ballhaus. Inside the club, the lighting is primarily dark with a tint of red which appears to be coming from the practicals seen within the shots. This is clearly to give off a dark mafia vibe within the setting of the film. The DP wants the audience to have a sense of slight discomfort within the nightclub and to foreshadow the dark events that take place throughout the rest of the film. The style of lighting displays the mafia lifestyle as something that is filled with murder, deception, and constant fear . Bright lighting is only used during happy events during the film such as Henry and Karen s wedding and to give off positive vibes for that moment. The scenes inside the nightclub seem to have a lighting ratio of around 8:1, so it s accurate to say the setting appeared pretty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the late 1800s the main reason for conflict would be divisions between bipartisan political forces. Bloody civil wars dot the history of Colombia but perhaps the most significant period in Colombian violence would be the clash between the Colombian Liberal Party and the Colombian Conservative Party in the 1940s. This would culminate into one of the bloodiest civil wars in the country s history, which would simply be called La Violencia (The Violence). The Colombian Liberal Party had maintained hegemony in Colombiathrough the 1930s and 40s, politically sidelining the Colombian Conservative Party. The presidential elections of 1946, however, would change this. Liberal candidates, Gabriel Turbay and Jorge EliГ©cer GaitГЎn, would split the vote and, therefore, cause the victory of Mariano Ospina PГ©rez, a member of the conservative party. The conservatives had suffered condemnation from the liberals since 1930 and now that the latter s power had manifested in Colombia the tides would shift toward conservative retaliation. Peasants armed by the Colombian Liberal Party sprung up in order to wage war on the government. This marked the beginning of a notable rise in political resentment toward either party by their counterpart. The catalyst that would spark the intense period of violence was the assassination of Jorge EliГ©cer GaitГЎn, a wildly popular liberal presidential candidate who was ... The cult of the body was born from the Greeks, as well as rhetoric, the art of speaking pretty , the whole problem is when the appearance has no essence. When the label does not match the content or the cries of the preachers are not cries of the heart, but only expedients of those who want to call attention to themselves. I see so many people today who play, sing and preach in the church trying to impress. They have the need for people to see them. When I see falsettos, in order to demonstrate how well they can sing, and preachers in need of self esteem trying to just promote themselves, I see the spirit of Greece. The more impressive are the people that feed this pride disguised in good preaching. In the first century, the Pharisees acquired a religion of rituals and outer manners, which was condemned by Jesus who called them hypokrites (the actors) because they were staging a spirituality without internal content.
