Socialization Of Homeschool
Parents have the right to choose the path for their child education. They should take the time to
consider the long term effect it could have on their child. Home schooled children could be missing
out on valuable lessons in life and the opportunity to participate in school activities and sporting
events. Socialization plays an important part of a child s growth and understanding of the real world.
Children must learn to respect people in authority outside of the home setting. Just anyone can not
teach education; there should be some guidelines for homeschool just as there are for public schools.
There are many memories made from public or private school settings. As one smart person once
stated, If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the time, the insane
asylums would be filled with mothers. (Howe). Children and parents need separation periods to
develop and understand different people s perceptive.
Socialization is an important development tool. Every interaction your child has helped him learn
language skills, ways to cope with emotions and how to work within social norms. Once your child is
in school, teachers and peers start to be a major part of socialization, which impacts development by
helping your child feel competent. During early school years, a teacher provides structure and
discipline in a child s day. Homeschool children may not have a structured schedule due to what may
be going on at home. Maybe due to a sibling or

Differences Between Fanon And De Tocqueville
Despite the fact that one cannot force a national identity, the drive to mold and create one runs deep in
both Fanon s and de Tocqueville s writings. At this point, the differences in background and the
purposes of writing between our two authors becomes apparent. De Tocqueville s project with Algeria
aims to investigate the best way to colonize with the least detriment to the French. Given that the
colonists had already deposed the old government to install their own at the time of his writings, de
Tocqueville identifies a few sources of danger for the French in Algeria and proposes a path forward.
At the time, the French had plans to unseat a remnant government in Constantine in the east of Algiers
and ally with Abd el Kader in the west of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both believe that the identity has to flow from the bottom up (that is to say that it must be based on the
desires and cultures of the people), realize that a shared identity is paramount to the security of a
nation, and even share the opinion that violence creates new and strengthens old identities. Even
moreover, both recognize that one state with two strong national identities cannot be beneficial for all
people: de Tocqueville in his analysis of Abd el Kader, and Fanon explicitly writing that the two
confront each other, but not in the service of a higher unity... there is no reconciliation possible, one of
them is superfluous (Fanon 4). The two only theoretically diverge on the ease of establishing a unified
culture. Furthermore, they practically diverge on the end goals of of national identity and the resulting
class structure. It clearly follows, then, that the primary difference between Fanon and de Tocqueville
s take on national identity stems purely from their respective positions in life, the anti colonialist
against the

The Goal, by Eliyahu Goldratt- book report
February 23, 2014
QUAN 6610 Book Report
The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement by Goldratt and Cox
KEY IDEA
The Goal centers around the protagonist Alex Rogo, who is a manager at a manufacturing and
production plant for UniCo that is performing badly and is given three months to improve or face
closing. His old physics professor, Jonah, is his guide and mentor through the story, using the Socratic
Method, as Alex and his team learn to formulate what later becomes the Theory of Constraints to turn
the plant around and eventually earn him a promotion to division manager.
SUMMARY
The story begins with outlining the problems Alex Rogo is facing. His plant is incredibly late on
shipments because of inefficient processes. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fivestep process consists of: 1. IDENTIFY the system s constraint(s). 2. Decide how to EXPLOIT
the system s constraint(s). 3. SUBORDINATE everything else to the above decision. 4.
ELEVATE the system s constraint(s). 5. WARNING!!!! If in the previous steps a constraint has been
broken, go back to step 1, but do not allow INERTIA to cause a system s constraint.
Lastly, Alex applies the Socratic method to his marriage problems with his wife Julie.
This side story makes the book more realistic to its audience, all the while showing real life stresses of
balancing work and personal struggles and how these methods of problem solving can be applied
universally, not just in a business setting.
LESSONS LEARNED (1‐1 ½ PAGES)
The lessons learned in The Goal are not strictly relevant to manufacturing business, they are about life
and any problem you approach. The techniques of questioning taught through the Socratic Method
allow you to draw your own questions and conclusions about problems encountered. Furthermore, the
book outlines techniques on the creation of clear metrics on improvements and productivity in any
business. By asking what the goal(s) of the business is/are, and how throughput (the rate at which the
system generates money through sales), operational expenses (all the money the system spends in
order to turn inventory into throughput), and inventory (all the money that the system has

Cerebellum Vs Cerebrum Research Paper
The cerebrum is the largest portion of the human brain. It takes up about 4/5 of the weight of the brain
and has what is described as a wrinkled cortex. Wrinkled cortex increases the surface area of which
increases the number of neurons. This makes human brain to be more efficient than other vertebrates (
Cerebrum vs Cerebellum, n.d.). The cerebrum in divided by the cerebral fissure, which separates it
into two hemispheres, the left and right which is being further discussed by a fellow classmate. The
two hemispheres are connected by the corpus callosum. Both hemispheres can also be divided into
four lobes which we know as the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occiptal lobes. The frontal lobe helps

Wilma Rudolph is a real definition of a legend. Wilma went through so many hard phases as a child.

Research Paper On Aladdin Jr.
Aladdin Jr: A Personal Response Aladdin Jr. is the 13th play I have been in. Being in this show is a
very bittersweet experience for a couple of reasons. One of the reasons is that I am about to age out of
being able to perform with the company, Alamance Childrens Theater (ACT). The second reason is
this will be the last play that I will ever get to work on with my best friend again. That being said, I
have been giving my all to this show to make it the very best it can be. In this play I am one of the

Oppression In Native American Culture
Native Americans, the true founders of America, are best known for having a tight grip on tradition
throughout the years. Tradition is a way that Native Americans have been able to coexist for so long,
and is also a way that natives have found stability from tribe to tribe. As Native Americans graciously
welcomed colonists into the new world years ago, they did not receive equal respect in return. The
colonists invading America gave natives a harsh ultimatum, to either leave America, or conform to the
new society that would soon destroy the teepees and farmlands the natives considered home. The
oppression from the colonists, gave natives the incentive that being any race other than white was not
something to be proud of. Through the use of narrative writing done by Native Americans, readers are
given an opportunity to see history through the lens of the oppressed. This further gives an opportunity
for readers understand the very situation that many people who may even look like them once had to
deal with. This allows us to not only draw specific conclusions about this period of oppression, but it
displays how easy it can be for people to fall into very specific standards, and conform to societies that
do not protect their values, and lives.
Growing up, children are regularly told to be themselves, because everyone else is taken. This advice,
however, is quite controversial. I hated Tonto Still Do, written by Sherman Alexie, expresses how

Ricon Annex: Indians by the Golden Gate Anton Refregier was well known for his artistry due to the
simple fact that all his work represented meaningful, significant, powerful plastic statement based on
the history and lives of the people. This simple concept is why his beautiful and powerful murals have
influenced artists for generations. The murals within the Ricon Annex illustrated how Anton was able
to atest to his principles and showcase the history of California as well as the struggles that
accomponied the devlopment of this amazing state. The murals, some noted as controversioal, also
displayed the negative moments throughout the history of the state. Specifically, the mural Indians by

The effort put in the creation of the mural can be immeditley be conveyed by the precise details of all
three natives on the boat. Furthermore, Anton s style of simplicity by primarly painting in a one

red to evoke emotions is very apparent in this mural. Rather than focusing on the mural itself, the
viewer is forced to anaylze the subject matter. In this mural the matter revolves around the death of
almost 250,000 natives due to general mistreatment, massacere, disiese, disposesssion, and other
indigitinieites. The mistreatment of natives throughout American history has always been problemtic.

Articles of Capitulation The Articles Of Capitulation was written on July 3rd, 1754 at 8pm, in an area
in present day Western Pennsylvania. This area was known at the time as the Ohio Valley and was an
area that was in dispute by the French and English. French Canadian military Captain, Louis Coulon
de Villers, composed the Articles Of Capitulation. This document was written in the aftermath of a
short one day battle, in which Coulon had surrounded Washington s Fort Necessity, and subsequently
asked for the surrender of the Virginian troops led by George Washington. Although Washington

Consider the good of the expedition without the least regard to us. For my part, I would die ten
thousand deaths to have the pleasure of possessing this fort but one day, they are so vain of their

the English forces. He was later convicted of spying after this paper fell into French hands and later
the French cited it as evidence of British aggression towards them in the Ohio Valley. He sentenced to
a death in Quebec, but then escaped and re joined the English forces. (Alberts)

Abortion, Poverty, and Rights Abortion was legalized in the United States of America on January 22,
1973 with the help of Roe v. Wade, giving women the freedom of choice and with the help of privacy
to seek the termination of an unwanted pregnancy. Before this life changing court case, abortion was
illegal in the United States of America. It was during the 1850s, that the heads of the American
Medical Association (AMA) that made abortions illegal in the first place to assert their authority as the
head doctors of the United States (Reagan 2012). For over one hundred and twenty years, American

It leaves the risk or either looking for an illegal abortion or having to raise a child with difficulties
surrounding you. Women denied abortions are more likely to go on welfare assistance, starting or
continuing the cycle of poverty. Research revealed that one of the main reasons women seek out for
abortions in the first place was for monetary reasons. Not every woman like Sarah has the means to
travel to a place to get a legal abortion and not everyone can afford an abortion. Most women seeking
are unemployed, on public assistance, or making below the poverty line (Sankin, 2012). Having this
rejection of an abortion would leave women unable to have an abortion with the choice of either
adoption, done by eleven percent of women, raising another child digging deeper into debt, or having
to rely on the government for more monetary assistance. Why would the government deny someone
the right to have an abortion if not having the child would save America the extra of not having to take
care of another? Not regarding the one who wants to keep his or her pregnancy in the first place, why
force a woman to raise a child she does not want? Unless the government feels that if they are
providing welfare, it gives them a reason to intervene into personal

strong and healthy. They can make shelter depending on what they are going through. Some domiciles
that they have made are the traditional Native American teepee which they only used for their
nomadic trips in which they are following their prey, bison and other animals. Their more permanent
homes were called earth lodges and were extremely simplistic in design, yet functioned sufficiently.
The earth lodges were just holes in the ground with a kind of dome covered with dirt and materials of
that type. In the 19th century the Mandan lived in dome shaped earth lodges clustered in stockaded
villages; their economy centred on raising corn (maize), beans, pumpkins, sunflowers, and tobacco
and on hunting buffalo, fishing, and trading with nomadic Plains tribes (Source C). To make things
easier and more efficient the Mandans also were able to create weapons and tools. They were usually

different weapons were shields, clubs, and lances. Mandan hunters used bows and arrows. In war,
Mandan men fired their bows or fought with war clubs and hide shields (Source A) Clothing was also

Notes On Sumo Style Deadlift
Sumo Style Deadlift
The sumo style deadlift is easier to learn than the conventional style and although the concept is the
same, the exercise works different body parts. In this lift style, the lifter grabs the grip bar with arms
placed on the inside of legs and maintains a wider stance than the conventional lift. A sumo style lift
may not be the best way to pick up the most weight, but it is an easier position to learn the basics of
deadlifting (Roberts). Sumo style lifters need groin flexibility because in this stance, the hips are
closer to the bar and many push their knees out to get to the bar, rather than pushing the hips back. The
sumo stance also requires lifters to be much more upright, this adds an extra layer of muscle
engagement. In addition to the muscles worked out by a conventional deadlift, which include the
hamstrings, quads, and gluts, the sumo style lift also adds muscle engagement in the lower back and
some adductors (Roberts). Each stance comes with its problems and benefits for different body types.
In the sumo stance, there is a lower starting hip position. The sumo position allows for a more rounded
back to get the bar off the floor, but lifters often struggle at lockout in this position. Also, the sumo
deadlift has a smaller back angle compared to the conventional deadlift, which allows for more weight
to be lifted with a lesser degree of lower back strength. In the sumo lift, the barbell travel is minimized
because there is a shorter stroke. This

What Happened To Hannah Baker s 13 Reasons Why
Have you ever been so depressed and upset that you feel like you can not live anymore? Like
everything is just a waste of time? Everything anyone does wrong just pushes you over the edge. That
is exactly what happened to Hannah Baker in 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Hannah is about 16 or
17. Just a normal girl in a normal town. Until she commits suicide. The town is in shock when they
heard she did it. No one understood it. Until one day Clay Jensen opened his front door to 13 cassette
tapes just sitting on his porch. He had no clue where they came from. They were all clearly marked in
the order they should be listened to. He put the first one in not knowing what would happen. Out of
the speakers Hannah s voice is heard. He is in shock. Hannah is dead. How could this happen? Did she
make these tapes before she killed herself to tell people why? Through the speaker was 13 peoples
names, each on a separate tape. They were claimed to be the reasons she did what she had done. She
said to keep what was on the tapes only between these 13 people. She made it clear to make sure you

someone right now were to come up to just about any girl in high school right now and smack their
butt, of course they will be super angry. I do not think anyone would think of committing suicide over

disasters are made by dominant individuals and cliques which refuse to move beyond the autistic
confines of partisan interest. In this excerpt from Towards a True Refuge, Kyi is saying that these

Famine has lead these people on to seek refuge in multiple different countries. This is usually done
illegally, by sneaking through borders, creating fake passports, and lying. What the author in this story
is trying to get at is everyone from the richest of the rich to the poorest of the poor deserve a safe,
secure, place to call home. No one will have a safe place to call home if we can t learn to collaborate
and try honestly to make peace with one another. Syria may be this way due to the fact that putting
weaponry above resources is habit, the leaders of Syria were raised to believe this is the way it should
be and this habit will be passed down for generations and generations just like it has in the past. Any

trying get across. In interpreted words, the author mentions the Soviet Union tearing down the Berlin

only going to get somewhere by making an effort, you re only going to solve a problem if you make
an effort to fix it.

Sexism In The Handmaids Tale
Books that are banned or challenged often have controversial topics but many don t consider the
positive effects of these books. The Handmaid s Tale is an example of this because despite including
uncomfortable topics, it also offers meaningful themes and ideas. Atwood s focus on sexism shows
readers the importance of feminism and equality. For example, on page 72, the author writes, This
week Janine doesn t wait for us to jeer at her. It was my fault, she says. It was my fault. I led them on.
I deserved the pain. This quote shows that the women are being conditioned into blaming themselves
if something such as sexual assault were to happen to them. It s important because readers should
recognize the unjust way of thinking and oppose sexism such as this. Continually, in the novel it says,
Women can t hold property anymore, she said. It s the new law (178). In the story, when society
abruptly changed, women had their rights taken away as displayed in the quote. This illustrates how
sexist the society is in the novel and how Atwood believes life would turn out if people were to
disregard equality. Finally, the job and treatment of the handmaids throughout the story is very unjust.
The handmaids are used for couples who can t have children on their own and must follow strict rules
and complete their job or else they face severe consequences. This conveys, yet again, the inhumane
way a lot of the women are treated and the wrongs of sexism. Ultimately, this theme of sexism

The Decline Of British Bees
The Decline of British Bees There are over 1500 insect species that are thought to help with
pollination in the UK. Virtually any insect that visits flowers can carry out pollination. This includes
the best known, the bees along with butterflies, hoverflies, a few beetles and moths. Bees are a
massive component in ecological systems with 78 94% of wild plant species and 75% of crop species
pollinated by animals and provide important social and economic aids to humans through crop
pollination and maintaining the biodiversity and character of the British landscape. It is generally
accepted that pollinator figures are in deterioration. Most Garden plants and agricultural/horticultural
crops rely on bees to bring about fertilisation by transferring pollen from the flowers anthers to the
stigmas. These include most tree and soft fruits, and many vegetables including marrows, courgettes
runner beans, tomatoes and broad beans, Allowing the decline of pollinators means that plants that are
not pollinated will not produce seeds or fruits, this is a problem if not remedied will affect the whole
of the world and civilization as we know it as an abundance of unfertilised plants could eventually
lead to food shortages and environmental destruction through the loss of vegetation. (Rhs.org.uk,

The University of the People s Intellectual Property policy requires we respect individual property

Everyone has created Intellectual Property at some point in his or her life and no one wants it stolen.
Innovation flourishes when ideas can flow, but stealing from the author will only lead to stifled

Pretty How Town By E. Cummings
Anyone lived in a pretty how town, a ballad by E. E. Cummings, was first published in 1940.
Cummings is commonly associated with his peculiar ideas about punctuation; he lacked punctuation
and structure frequently. Being one of the best known poets of all time, Cummings creates a language
that is relatable to just about anyone. I think this poem is about a small community where everyone is
concerned with his or her own actions, never caring about neighbors or other members of the
community. Cummings does not clarify the names of his characters in story. Instead, he uses anyone
and someone. In doing this, he creates ambiguity for his characters. This furthers the idea that

The expected outcome was that I would understand the process group dynamics and the 11 curative

track group experience in my current research project at the clinic. This also has helped me as a
counselor in training to see if what I am doing is working within the group setting. By doing my own

Heterosexua s Argument Against Homosexual Adoption
A child enters foster care every two minutes. Meaning by the end of this speech, at least three children
will have entered. In 2012 there were about 397 thousand children in foster care. In 2014 there was
almost 416 thousand. And the number keeps rising. In 2016 the number is supposed to rise 4%. While
it may not seem much a 4 percent rise will make it almost 432 thousand. Almost twenty thousand
more children will be in foster care. Which is why Homosexual couples should be allowed to adopt.
With this many children in foster there is a need for parents that only straight parents cannot fill.
While straight parents may have oops babies, or accidents , this does not occur with homosexual
parents. Most gay couples have a plan to have babies, whether chose to try and adopt, find surrogates
or sperm donors, or use other methods. After having to go through such acts, gay couples tend to be

Many people are close minded and think the only acceptable home is one with a mother and a father
that are married to each other, they may think that children need a mother and father for proper male
and female role models, or even children raised by gay parents are more likely to be gay themselves.
Whether you believe this to be true or not, the children that need to be adopted do not have parents at
all. While many may say that being in foster care is better than being adopted by a homosexual family
that is not true. Not all foster care families are warm and fuzzy. In many cases, foster families will
abuse the children or take the money given to them by the state for the children and use it for
themselves. And over the matter of whether they turn gay or not, isn t it better for them to have
families and homes than that they stay in foster care until they are lucky and a couple adopts them or
until they turn 18 and are forced out of foster

Stereotypes In Billy Elliot
In the film Billy Elliot directed by Stephen Daldry, Michael is a thought provoking character because
he is portrayed as both gay and a cross dresser. With the film being set during the 1984 1985 coal
miners strike. Michael lives in Everington, Durham, a small town in north eastern England where you
re either a straight girl or a straight man and the community is very black and white and there is no
grey area in between area for people like Michael.
In the film Billy Elliot Michael is seen to be interested in cross dressing and frequently dresses up in
his sister s dresses and puts on his mother s makeup (most notably her lipstick). The long shot of him

Along with the struggles of growing up in a community where he doesn t fit the expected norm for
male behaviour, Michael has an alcoholic and abusive father who believes heavily in the gender
stereotypes perpetuated throughout the film and disapproves heavily of Michael s behaviour. All this
strain on Michael makes it hard for him to have a normal childhood as he struggles with the
challenges of growing up in a community where you don t fit the mold of what a man should be like.
This is shown in the scene when he and Billy are wearing tutus and dancing in the boxing hall and get
caught by two angry parents who then proceed to call them both poofs and sissies for dancing
together. Michael is also seen at the end of the film to have his male partner sitting next to him. This
relates to the audience because at some point in their life everyone feels like they don t fit in with the
majority of their community, whether it is a small difference or a large one people are all unique but
sometimes can feel like they are the only one fighting against the world. In Michael s case he has to
grow up hiding his true self and not being able to express his feelings as the community he lives in is
heavily embedded in traditional gender roles and stereotypes and does not accept people who don t fit
within the black and white

Willis carrier
The invention of Willis Carrier is timeless and a major breakthrough in the engineering field. The air
conditioner is applied almost in all engineering systems like computers, vehicles, factories and all
machines where heat is involved. Conditioners are also applied in domestic homes and institutions like
hotels and hospitals. It is, therefore, evident that this invention has created a revolution in the present
working environment and so deserves great praise and honor to the hard work and commitment of
Willis Carrier are to be emulated. Carrier was a mechanical engineer who was quick to identify a fault
in the nature of work he did and his skill in engineering compelled him in the invention of a
mechanism that would impact the world to the present age. He would soon come up with a set of
designs and drawings that would be adopted by many other manufacturing companies and set up a
ground for the establishment of his own enterprise. Willis life is a motivation to all engineers in terms
of critical thinking and innovation and the ability to persist on a given course despite the challenges on
the way. His knowledge and curiosity of engineering design is to be admired which is a wakeup call to
many that may not have yet found a purpose for their study. His business and entrepreneurship skills
should also be proof to us that we are meant to be all round and not just fixed minded to what revolves
closest around us.

To be the person that I am now, I had to reflect and accept accountability of my past actions. My past

Values Of Anglo Saxon Values
Anglo Saxon Values that still hold true Today. What are values? Values are things which are important
to one, and will determine one s priorities. During the Anglo Saxon era, there were values which
remain the same till this day. Loyalty and courage play a big roll in today s values, as much as it did
during the Anglo Saxon time. One of the Anglo Saxon values still holding true today will have to be
loyalty. One might wonder, what exactly is loyalty? Loyalty is being faithful to something or
someone, or in shorter words, always sticking to a person or thing no matter what the situation is.
Beowulf shows his loyalty when he states he will not shift a foot (2524) because he cannot break his
word. Wiglaf understands this loyalty to one s reputation and how it is linked to being a warrior. (2890
1) A warrior will sooner die than live a life of shame Beowulf hands Wiglaf his collar of gold, his war
shirt, and his helmet and tells him to use them well showing an act of loyalty. Is the public loyal? Do
the people show loyalty? If the people think about it, the public can all relate to Beowulf. Every
person must have a person or a thing who they are loyal to. It doesn t even have to be between people,
one can be loyal to what they put their self into, maybe school or work. If a person gives all his loyalty
to their career or job then it will all pay off. For example, in the Dream of the Rood, (123 124) I
prayed to that tree with ardent zeal, where I was alone with few

Memory Vs Human Memory
1. The purpose of memory, whether it be in humans or machine, is to store information for a period of
time. Both human memory and the memory used in artificial devices are capable of doing so but they
differ in many ways; two differences being discussed will be on how memory is encoded, and how
memory is stored.
There are endless stimuli in the world meaning we humans are constantly feeling, hearing, smelling,
tasting, and touching; at any given point in time, our brain is working and processing this into our
sensory memory. Information encoded in our sensory memory will only last a very short amount of
time (A few seconds sometimes even shorter) before it is either forgotten or transferred to the next
memory store, short term (Also known as working memory). The main factor in whether information
is further retained to short term memory, is attention. The three main ways information can be encoded
is through visual, auditory, and semantic coding. Visual coding enables information to be stored as
pictures, auditory stored as sounds, and semantic stored as meaning.
Memory encoding in machines can be stored as pictures and sounds but meaning is exclusive to
humans. Computer memory does not depend on attention; whatever is captured/experienced by the
machine will be encoded in the artificial device. Unlike human memory, the information will not be
forgotten if there is not enough attention and will be stored; bringing us to our next difference.
The memory used in artificial devices uses complex systems such as primary/secondary memory,
RAM, caches, etc. However, machine memory can explained described as black or white ; they either
know something or they don t, and when they do learn something they generally don t forget (Unless
they re programmed to do so).
This is where memory storage differs in the human system. As previously mentioned information is
stored in the short term/working memory with attention heavily factoring it s retention. Now for
information to stay in the active working memory, it must rehearsed over and over. Once mental
activity stops it is either forgotten or goes further into the long term memory. The long term memory
store is similar to memory storage system in computers in the sense

Premarital sex is sexual intercourse engaged in by persons who are unmarried. It is generally used in
reference to individuals who are presumed not yet of marriageable age or between adults who will
presumably marry eventually, but who are engaging in sexual activity prior to marriage (Wikipedia,
2009). Premarital Sex is so common nowadays because of the messages we receive from most TV

According to Vogt J. amp; S., (2009), The Church calls single people to chastity because human
sexual expression carries with it the power of intimate union and of creating new life. It s not to be
taken lightly. If a man and woman aren t committed to each other for the long haul, the bond created
by their sexual union isn t a total gift of self and is thus conditional. In context, Hansen H.R. says that
sex should be a sacred expression of love between a husband and wife and that both men and women
should abstain from sexual activity until their marriage. It teaches that sex before marriage is an
expression of lust, not love, and admonishes its members not to participate in it or in any other kinds
of activities that excite sexual desires.
Pope John Paul II spoke extensively about the holiness of our bodies and the meaning of sexual
intimacy in his Theology of the Body lectures. Theologian Mary Shivanadansums up his thinking: The
body constitutes an expression of the entire person and thus calls us to responsibility (
The Living Light
, Spring 2001). This is a sexual responsibility for married couples as well as for single men and
women. Premarital Sex is often seen as a recreation. People look at it in a shallow way that they only

Police Enforcement And The Security Of The Virtual City...
Abstract
This essay is an examination of community policing as it relates to the interests of the Virtual City
Police Department. Advances in technology has changed police work, officers are incorporating
technology and sophisticated investigative techniques to solve crimes. This essay will focus on the
pros and cons of community policing in a modern society, where police officers must rely more on
technology and forensics than citizens to solve crimes and apprehend criminals.
Introduction
Police have been linked to citizens since the reform era redefined the nature of the relationship
between police and citizens (Kelling, Moore, 1988). The new model demanded an impartial law
officer who related professionally, neutrally, and in distant terms to citizens. Weaknesses in the model
were displayed through a decentralized organizational structure which failed to provide supervision to
patrol officers, resulting in a rise in police corruption (Kelling, Moore, 1988). Continuing reformations
put officers in automobiles reasoning that the automobile would increase the extent of the patrol and
give the officers a greater advantage over criminals (Kelling, Moore, 1988). As more officers patrolled
in automobiles the rapport of community relations was lost, officers were no longer an intimate part of
the community structure. The decline in contact between the citizens and police was not helped by the
centralization of precincts, as smaller

Sino Soviet Relations
To what extent was the deterioration in Sino Soviet relations in the years 1958 69 due to personal
rivalries?
The deterioration in Sino Soviet relations between 1958 1969 is due to a number of different
factorssome historians argue that conflicting personal rivalries between Mao and Khrushchev
contributed to the split until 1964, however other historians argue that other factors influenced the
deterioration. For example both sides were ideologically different, this can be seen as they were both
pursuing different methods of achieving communism, and during many occasions they disagreed with
each other. However the most significant factor causing the split was their conflicting national
interests, as although without the existing personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows a clear confliction in national interests, and a cause for a deterioration in Sino Soviet
relations was the invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968. Due to this, Mao introduced his policy of active
defence towards the USSR and this was because of his paranoia that the USSR could try to assert
dominance over China. This shows a clear confliction of national interests as the USSR was
preventing China from expansion and this added to the initial ideological and personality disputes
stated above. Therefore the deterioration in Sino Soviet relations was due to conflicting national
interests more than personality and ideological clashes as from this, both sides clearly wanted different
things, conflict between them was inevitable.
Finally another argument that some historians put forward is the Ussuri River dispute in 1969 where
both sides shared a common border. This was one of the most important reasons for the deterioration
in relations because it was the first time both sides came into direct conflict with the other during this
in which on the first day, over 30 Soviet soldiers died. This showed a direct cause for deterioration in
relations, because two countries cannot be allies if they are constantly at fighting with one another.
These border disputes had been ongoing for many years, showing that a fundamental cause for the
deterioration in relations between the

Theme Of Rape Of The Lock
Mock epic is a narrative poem which aims at mockery and laughter by using almost all the
characteristic features of an epic but for a trivial subject. In the The Rape of the Lock there is an
invocation to Muses, intention of subject, battles, supernatural machinery, and journey on water,
underworld journey, long speeches, feasts (coffee house), Homeric similes and grand style but all for a
simple family dispute instead of a national struggle. The grand action of a low subject produces
comical laughter and makes the story more absurd. Instead of magnificent passions and great fights
between heroes in which the immortals take part, we see the theme of The Rape of the Lock as a
minor passionate quarrel assisted by the spirits of the air. The ... Show more content on

In the poem Rape of the Lock, Pope has introduced the episodes of the game of Omber which suggests
the powerful battle and the cards involve the soldiers described in great detail. There is also the battle
between lords and ladies just like the battle in epic poem. But in mock epic this battle is fought with
fans and snuff instead of with swords and spears. There are single fight between Belinda and Baron
and between Clarissa and Sir Plume. Another very important element of an epic is the active
participation of supernatural machinery like god and goddesses. In The Rape of the Lock, there are
sylphs and gnomes. These aerial spirits are small and unimportant things and are therefore, exactly in
keeping with the triviality of the theme. These aerial spirits guards the person of the heroine that is
Belinda and when there is fight between the flowers of Belinda and those of the Baron, they take part
in the fight like god and goddesses in war. Pope described the protecting sylph under Ariel. In that the
sylphs are the lampoon of epic deities. A long dangerous journey on water is a must in an epic. Here in
the poem The Rape of the Lock , Belinda takes a relaxed journey on water without any stress and
danger. She travels up the Thames in a boat to join Hampton Court to play the game of card Omber

the fact that the government regarded the immediate problems of the First Nations as a matter of
indifference. The efforts of Canada persistently indicated that unless the First Nations held any benefit
to the expansion of the economical, political or social aspects of their government, they would be
overlooked merely because of their cultural origins.
Often times, when it came to the discussion on equality within Canada, the actions of Canada were
compared to those of the United States, and often times, a comment is made stating that the United
States could learn from Canada s example when it came to racial harmony. However, this idea was
often criticized as the racial problems within Canada were just as severe. The respect and the
livelihood of the First Nation were violated for years even before the start of the twentieth century.
However, the issues of the First Nations were hardly ever brought to light by other Canadians because
these issues were often hidden deep within the reserves that these First Nations were forced into. From
taking their land away to disregarding their cultures, the government rarely ever acknowledged the
needs of the First Nations until they could no longer be ignored. The government continuously
stressed assimilation, especially with the Indian Act , and expected the First Nations

Forgiveness And Reconciliation In The Movie Pay It Forward
Forgiveness and Reconciliation:
In the film Pay It Forward Arlene forgave her mother by going to the homeless place where her
mother was living and forgave her for all of the bad things that happened to her when she was a child.
She tried to repair the damage done by sin by inviting her mother to Trevor s birthday party but only if
she was sober. Arlene gave Grace a penance that she needed to complete and by doing this, their
relationship was healed. The relationship was healed because Grace respected her wishes and had
contrition for what had happened in the past so she gave up drinking and was also able to heal the
relationship with Trevor in the process. The result of Arlene and Grace sorting out their issues by

Sacrament of reconciliation:
The second rite of reconciliation is a celebration that is split into two parts: communal celebration and
individual confession. During communal celebration, they would have a ceremony which included
homily, prayers and readings from the gospel. They would then all say together the examination of
conscience which is a reflection of their sins and then each person would have an individual
confession with the priest to clear their sins that they had committed. Individual confession gives
people a chance to reconnect with God by seeking guidance and forgiveness from a priest. Through
this process the penitent would ask for reconciliation, confess their sins and promise not to sin again.
To complete, the priest would need to give them a penance which is something the person would need
to do to repair the damage done by sin.
If Arlene had attended the second rite of reconciliation, she would have felt like she had finally
overcome her drinking problem. By knowing that she has been forgiven for her actions she will be
able to love herself more which means she will be able to love others in return. This would put her in a
better mental state and be able to help her through the tough time in her life and wouldn t need to go
through it all alone. It would have given her more strength which would make the tough journey a lot
easier knowing that someone has forgiven her.
If the Ricky had attended the second rite of reconciliation, this

The disillusionment of American dream in the Great Gatsby and Tender is the night
Chapter I Introduction
F. Scott Fitzgerald is the spokesman of the Jazz Age and is also one of the greatest novelists in the
20th century. His novels mainly deal with the theme of the disillusionment of the American dream of
the self made young men in the 20th century. In this thesis, Fitzgerald s two most important novels
The Great Gatsby(2003) and Tender is the Night(2005) are analyzed. Both these two novels tell us the
story of the pursuit and failure of the American dream of the young men in the twenties. Jay Gatsby is
the central character of The Great Gatsby and Dick Diver is the counterpart of Tender Is the Night and

She is the daughter of a millionaire, but unfortunately she is the victim of the incest and has a serious
mental disease. As a doctor, Dick is sympathetic with her and wants to cure her to realize his
American dream that s to get the admission and acceptance of the upper class, so he marries her and
devotes more than his decade of life to curing her. But Nicole leaves him after her recovery and turns
to her new lover, Tommy Barban. Dick goes back to his hometown quietly. Dick s weaknesses and his
identity as a spoiled priest are rooted in his personality his egotism and desire to please and be loved
that transform him into a social climber whose natural idealism is finally corrupted by the amoral
values of his flock. (Stavola 1979:148) We are not allowed to forget that both Jay Gatsby and Dick
Diver are the representative figures of the American dream of the 20th century. Both these two men
come from a family with little or no money, but they manage to attend a famous university Oxford to
raise their social positions. When the rising young men are halfway

to the top, they fall in love with the rich and beautiful girls from the upper class, and they win the rich
girls but at last are destroyed by their wealth or their relatives. Their real dream was that of achieving
a new status and a new essence, of rising to a loftier place in
the mysterious hierarchy of human worth. 4

  • 2. Socialization Of Homeschool Parents have the right to choose the path for their child education. They should take the time to consider the long term effect it could have on their child. Home schooled children could be missing out on valuable lessons in life and the opportunity to participate in school activities and sporting events. Socialization plays an important part of a child s growth and understanding of the real world. Children must learn to respect people in authority outside of the home setting. Just anyone can not teach education; there should be some guidelines for homeschool just as there are for public schools. There are many memories made from public or private school settings. As one smart person once stated, If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers. (Howe). Children and parents need separation periods to develop and understand different people s perceptive. Socialization is an important development tool. Every interaction your child has helped him learn language skills, ways to cope with emotions and how to work within social norms. Once your child is in school, teachers and peers start to be a major part of socialization, which impacts development by helping your child feel competent. During early school years, a teacher provides structure and discipline in a child s day. Homeschool children may not have a structured schedule due to what may be going on at home. • 3. Differences Between Fanon And De Tocqueville Despite the fact that one cannot force a national identity, the drive to mold and create one runs deep in both Fanon s and de Tocqueville s writings. At this point, the differences in background and the purposes of writing between our two authors becomes apparent. De Tocqueville s project with Algeria aims to investigate the best way to colonize with the least detriment to the French. Given that the colonists had already deposed the old government to install their own at the time of his writings, de Tocqueville identifies a few sources of danger for the French in Algeria and proposes a path forward. At the time, the French had plans to unseat a remnant government in Constantine in the east of Algiers and ally with Abd el Kader in the west of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both believe that the identity has to flow from the bottom up (that is to say that it must be based on the desires and cultures of the people), realize that a shared identity is paramount to the security of a nation, and even share the opinion that violence creates new and strengthens old identities. Even moreover, both recognize that one state with two strong national identities cannot be beneficial for all people: de Tocqueville in his analysis of Abd el Kader, and Fanon explicitly writing that the two confront each other, but not in the service of a higher unity... there is no reconciliation possible, one of them is superfluous (Fanon 4). The two only theoretically diverge on the ease of establishing a unified culture. Furthermore, they practically diverge on the end goals of of national identity and the resulting class structure. It clearly follows, then, that the primary difference between Fanon and de Tocqueville s take on national identity stems purely from their respective positions in life, the anti colonialist against the ... • 9. Oppression In Native American Culture Native Americans, the true founders of America, are best known for having a tight grip on tradition throughout the years. Tradition is a way that Native Americans have been able to coexist for so long, and is also a way that natives have found stability from tribe to tribe. As Native Americans graciously welcomed colonists into the new world years ago, they did not receive equal respect in return. The colonists invading America gave natives a harsh ultimatum, to either leave America, or conform to the new society that would soon destroy the teepees and farmlands the natives considered home. The oppression from the colonists, gave natives the incentive that being any race other than white was not something to be proud of. Through the use of narrative writing done by Native Americans, readers are given an opportunity to see history through the lens of the oppressed. This further gives an opportunity for readers understand the very situation that many people who may even look like them once had to deal with. This allows us to not only draw specific conclusions about this period of oppression, but it displays how easy it can be for people to fall into very specific standards, and conform to societies that do not protect their values, and lives. Growing up, children are regularly told to be themselves, because everyone else is taken. This advice, however, is quite controversial. • 15. Notes On Sumo Style Deadlift Sumo Style Deadlift The sumo style deadlift is easier to learn than the conventional style and although the concept is the same, the exercise works different body parts. In this lift style, the lifter grabs the grip bar with arms placed on the inside of legs and maintains a wider stance than the conventional lift. A sumo style lift may not be the best way to pick up the most weight, but it is an easier position to learn the basics of deadlifting (Roberts). Sumo style lifters need groin flexibility because in this stance, the hips are closer to the bar and many push their knees out to get to the bar, rather than pushing the hips back. The sumo stance also requires lifters to be much more upright, this adds an extra layer of muscle engagement. In addition to the muscles worked out by a conventional deadlift, which include the hamstrings, quads, and gluts, the sumo style lift also adds muscle engagement in the lower back and some adductors (Roberts). Each stance comes with its problems and benefits for different body types. In the sumo stance, there is a lower starting hip position. The sumo position allows for a more rounded back to get the bar off the floor, but lifters often struggle at lockout in this position. Also, the sumo deadlift has a smaller back angle compared to the conventional deadlift, which allows for more weight to be lifted with a lesser degree of lower back strength. In the sumo lift, the barbell travel is minimized because there is a shorter stroke. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Sexism In The Handmaids Tale Books that are banned or challenged often have controversial topics but many don t consider the positive effects of these books. The Handmaid s Tale is an example of this because despite including uncomfortable topics, it also offers meaningful themes and ideas. Atwood s focus on sexism shows readers the importance of feminism and equality. For example, on page 72, the author writes, This week Janine doesn t wait for us to jeer at her. It was my fault, she says. It was my fault. I led them on. I deserved the pain. This quote shows that the women are being conditioned into blaming themselves if something such as sexual assault were to happen to them. It s important because readers should recognize the unjust way of thinking and oppose sexism such as this. Continually, in the novel it says, Women can t hold property anymore, she said. It s the new law (178). In the story, when society abruptly changed, women had their rights taken away as displayed in the quote. This illustrates how sexist the society is in the novel and how Atwood believes life would turn out if people were to disregard equality. Finally, the job and treatment of the handmaids throughout the story is very unjust. The handmaids are used for couples who can t have children on their own and must follow strict rules and complete their job or else they face severe consequences. This conveys, yet again, the inhumane way a lot of the women are treated and the wrongs of sexism. Ultimately, this theme of sexism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bees are a massive component in ecological systems with 78 94% of wild plant species and 75% of crop species pollinated by animals and provide important social and economic aids to humans through crop pollination and maintaining the biodiversity and character of the British landscape. In 2012 there were about 397 thousand children in foster care. In 2014 there was almost 416 thousand. And the number keeps rising. In 2016 the number is supposed to rise 4%. While it may not seem much a 4 percent rise will make it almost 432 thousand. Almost twenty thousand more children will be in foster care. Which is why Homosexual couples should be allowed to adopt. With this many children in foster there is a need for parents that only straight parents cannot fill. While straight parents may have oops babies, or accidents , this does not occur with homosexual parents. While many may say that being in foster care is better than being adopted by a homosexual family that is not true. Not all foster care families are warm and fuzzy. In many cases, foster families will abuse the children or take the money given to them by the state for the children and use it for themselves. During the Anglo Saxon era, there were values which remain the same till this day. Loyalty and courage play a big roll in today s values, as much as it did during the Anglo Saxon time. One of the Anglo Saxon values still holding true today will have to be loyalty. One might wonder, what exactly is loyalty? Loyalty is being faithful to something or someone, or in shorter words, always sticking to a person or thing no matter what the situation is. Beowulf shows his loyalty when he states he will not shift a foot (2524) because he cannot break his word. Wiglaf understands this loyalty to one s reputation and how it is linked to being a warrior. (2890 1) A warrior will sooner die than live a life of shame Beowulf hands Wiglaf his collar of gold, his war shirt, and his helmet and tells him to use them well showing an act of loyalty. Is the public loyal? Do the people show loyalty? If the people think about it, the public can all relate to Beowulf. Every person must have a person or a thing who they are loyal to. It doesn t even have to be between people, one can be loyal to what they put their self into, maybe school or work. If a person gives all his loyalty to their career or job then it will all pay off. For example, in the Dream of the Rood, (123 124) I prayed to that tree with ardent zeal, where I was alone with few ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Memory Vs Human Memory 1. The purpose of memory, whether it be in humans or machine, is to store information for a period of time. Both human memory and the memory used in artificial devices are capable of doing so but they differ in many ways; two differences being discussed will be on how memory is encoded, and how memory is stored. There are endless stimuli in the world meaning we humans are constantly feeling, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching; at any given point in time, our brain is working and processing this into our sensory memory. Information encoded in our sensory memory will only last a very short amount of time (A few seconds sometimes even shorter) before it is either forgotten or transferred to the next memory store, short term (Also known as working memory). The main factor in whether information is further retained to short term memory, is attention. The three main ways information can be encoded is through visual, auditory, and semantic coding. Visual coding enables information to be stored as pictures, auditory stored as sounds, and semantic stored as meaning. Memory encoding in machines can be stored as pictures and sounds but meaning is exclusive to humans. Computer memory does not depend on attention; whatever is captured/experienced by the machine will be encoded in the artificial device. Unlike human memory, the information will not be forgotten if there is not enough attention and will be stored; bringing us to our next difference. The memory used in artificial devices uses complex systems such as primary/secondary memory, RAM, caches, etc. However, machine memory can explained described as black or white ; they either know something or they don t, and when they do learn something they generally don t forget (Unless they re programmed to do so). This is where memory storage differs in the human system. As previously mentioned information is stored in the short term/working memory with attention heavily factoring it s retention. Now for information to stay in the active working memory, it must rehearsed over and over. Once mental activity stops it is either forgotten or goes further into the long term memory. The long term memory store is similar to memory storage system in computers in the sense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s not to be taken lightly. If a man and woman aren t committed to each other for the long haul, the bond created by their sexual union isn t a total gift of self and is thus conditional. In context, Hansen H.R. says that sex should be a sacred expression of love between a husband and wife and that both men and women should abstain from sexual activity until their marriage. It teaches that sex before marriage is an expression of lust, not love, and admonishes its members not to participate in it or in any other kinds of activities that excite sexual desires. • 36. Police Enforcement And The Security Of The Virtual City... Abstract This essay is an examination of community policing as it relates to the interests of the Virtual City Police Department. Advances in technology has changed police work, officers are incorporating technology and sophisticated investigative techniques to solve crimes. This essay will focus on the pros and cons of community policing in a modern society, where police officers must rely more on technology and forensics than citizens to solve crimes and apprehend criminals. Introduction Police have been linked to citizens since the reform era redefined the nature of the relationship between police and citizens (Kelling, Moore, 1988). The new model demanded an impartial law officer who related professionally, neutrally, and in distant terms to citizens. Weaknesses in the model were displayed through a decentralized organizational structure which failed to provide supervision to patrol officers, resulting in a rise in police corruption (Kelling, Moore, 1988). Continuing reformations put officers in automobiles reasoning that the automobile would increase the extent of the patrol and give the officers a greater advantage over criminals (Kelling, Moore, 1988). As more officers patrolled in automobiles the rapport of community relations was lost, officers were no longer an intimate part of the community structure. The decline in contact between the citizens and police was not helped by the centralization of precincts, as smaller ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The deterioration in Sino Soviet relations between 1958 1969 is due to a number of different factorssome historians argue that conflicting personal rivalries between Mao and Khrushchev contributed to the split until 1964, however other historians argue that other factors influenced the deterioration. This shows a clear confliction in national interests, and a cause for a deterioration in Sino Soviet relations was the invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968. Due to this, Mao introduced his policy of active defence towards the USSR and this was because of his paranoia that the USSR could try to assert dominance over China. This shows a clear confliction of national interests as the USSR was preventing China from expansion and this added to the initial ideological and personality disputes stated above. Therefore the deterioration in Sino Soviet relations was due to conflicting national interests more than personality and ideological clashes as from this, both sides clearly wanted different things, conflict between them was inevitable. Finally another argument that some historians put forward is the Ussuri River dispute in 1969 where both sides shared a common border. This was one of the most important reasons for the deterioration in relations because it was the first time both sides came into direct conflict with the other during this in which on the first day, over 30 Soviet soldiers died. This showed a direct cause for deterioration in relations, because two countries cannot be allies if they are constantly at fighting with one another.
