Essay about Book Analysis of World War Z by Max Brooks
World War Z was written by Max Brooks and published in 2007. Max has two other books that
are also about surviving a zombie apocalypse. The general maxim about zombie apocalypse books
is that they are for pure entertainment; however, his books carry hidden messages that pertain to
modern society. World War Z is an exceptional book of entertainment and knowledge. The book
was created into a motion picture starring Brad Pitt because of the much kudos that Max Brooks
received from readers.
No book has captivated the zombie apocalypse better than World War Z. Max Brooks creatively
presents a worldwide zombie pandemic from outbreak to aftermath (Boyd, Tristan). His book
encompasses many social and political themes in the world today. The book... Show more content

The social layout completely changes as the outbreak consumes the world.
A major contributing factor to this great change is the fear and uncertainty that is instilled by the
zombies. I believe that Brooks defined fear through people s reactions to the outbreak. He
explains how fear is the most basic emotion and how fear is the reasoning to perform an act. In
one of his stories, he writes, fear is the most valuable commodity in the universe (Brooks). This is
true because we buy products and services based on the fear of not having those products and the
results of not having that commodity.
Combining all these serious themes into a very entertaining book should attract many readers.
However, there was some confusion with the story line. Since this book is a collection of
interviews, it wasn t a conventional story. When I first started the book, I wasn t sure why I was
jumping from country to country and why each story was completely different. As I continued to
read the book, I was able to understand that these were a collection of eyewitness accounts of the
war. Also, Max Brooks uses a rife amount of vulgar language which I think could have been kept
out. However, it made it real and that s what this book is about.
Breaking that long held axiom about zombie books, Max Brooks was able to bring a new
definition to the zombie apocalypse. His talent to bring a well rounded novel to the

The World Wildlife Fund ( Wwf ) Essay
Media Audit The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has launched several campaigns in the past few
years, all focused on several endangered species and natural habitats to try and save the
extinction of the planet s biodiversity. Although WWF has had success in their campaigns and
received a plethora of positive feedback, the non profit organization has also received negative
comments in the media. Strengths Goals. WWF s work has evolved from saving species and
lands to addressing the larger global threats and forces that impact them. Recognizing that the
problems facing the planet are increasingly more urgent and complex, they have refined the way
in which they work around a new, ambitious strategy. Their new strategy puts people at the center
and organizes their goals around six key areas: marine, forests, wildlife, freshwater, climate, and
food. By linking those six areas in an integrated approach, they receive better leverage for their
unique assets and direct all the fund s resources to protecting vulnerable places, species, and
communities worldwide. In the WWF s Manifesto campaign, the organization states that even the
most ordinary people have an impact. From the government to large corporations, WWF
demonstrates that with the start of one person any goal can be achieved. An article from Spiegel,
an English based magazine, said: Even with the littlest impact from someone is still an impact, and
WWF finally recognizes that it only takes one person. Goals start with one

A New Framework For Training And Placement Services Using...
A New Framework for Training and Placement Services using Mobile
Abstract
Training and Placement is important part of any educational institute in which most of the work
will carried out using automated tools. Hence the service of these can be given in mobile to
increase the efficient data connection on hand held devices. So the mobile can be used as later
device to fill the gap between students and companies visiting the campus for recruitment.
Therefore our proposed framework can be aimed to reduce human efforts and errors by automating
important tasks of cell such as displaying notices, maintaining info regarding students, student
eligibility, company criteria, training sessions, preparation seminars, interview schedule, etc. ...

When it involves the Placement and Training Cell it plays a vital role in locating job opportunities
for Under Graduates and Post Graduates passing out from the college by keeping in touch with
reputed firms and industrial establishments. The Placement Cell operates around the year to
facilitate contacts between companies and graduates. The increasing benefits of automated system
now are at highest position thus many manual processes are automated. Since the automated system
is demanded now a days, educational infrastructures like colleges needed their manual system to
function on computer system. One of such system which is of major importance is training and
placement automation for campus recruitment. Though some manual functioning systems of
faculties are automated like maintaining attendance record, library management. The colleges have
more to do like observance and maintaining student s presence in the campus, that necessary data
for their parents or guardians.
2. Importance of Placement and Training Cell Placement and Training cell provides more facilities
to the user such as visited company in college campus, and take the information about company and
selected students. And also the Placement Cell works together as a team in moulding the students
to the requirements of various industries. In today scenario the Training and Placement Officer
(TPO) is the key person in any professional organization. The TPO has the responsibilities of

The Colonization Of Indonesia And Indonesia
As a Junior in high school, my history teacher taught us that our native country, Indonesia, was
colonized by the Dutch for 350 years beginning in the year 1595. The Netherlands is one of the
European countries that established itself over other countries in order to take advantage of them,
in this case to take advantage of Indonesia s rich land and resources. Indonesia is a land rich in
spices, rice, sugar, tea, coffee, and other products desirable for export. The Dutch colonized us with
the purpose of monopolizing our trade. Because of the profits obtained from Indonesia s most
important resource, that of its spices, the Netherlandstook tremendous wealth from our land.
During the Colonial era, the United State of America and Great Britain maintained a good rapport
with their colonies and respected their laws. Both countries allowed more independence for their
colonies. On the other hand, European countries such as the Netherlands, Spain, and France were
very restrictive toward their colonies, for example, they limited education for certain social groups.
Also, Southeast Asia was not allowed to engage in economic activities. This caused a great deal of
corruption as well as huge problems in these European countries. These more oppressive colonial
rulers did not support the rules of law in the indigenous countries, in this case in Indonesian. They
levied laws on the Indonesians but not on the Dutch immigrants there. They put controls on our
people but not their people.

The Factors Of Food Waste In Public Schools
Growing research shows steady increase in food waste throughout the globe. One largely
contributing factor is food waste produced from the public schools. The amount of food wasted in
schools, according to the USDA, has ranged between 10 37% of calories served (Buzby, J.,
Guthrie, J., 2002). It is difficult to compare public schoolwasteto global amounts due to the scarcity
of specific data this would depend on region, economic status and additional factors associated with
how and why foodis wasted in schools. Having said that, this is a large enough problem that it is
actively noticed and prompting intervention. With these numbers rising, food waste negatively
impacts costs for the community, carbon emissions, water use and more.
However, students in the public schools are not completely to blame, as some factors affect food
waste after the implementation of some lunch programs, which are targeted to increase encourage
students to reach their recommended adequate intake of nutrients, such as the Healthy, Hunger
Free Kids Act of 2010 (Hakim, S., Meissen, G., 2017). Likewise, food serving methods have also
played a role in the amount of food wasted by students, by using the offer model and serve model
approaches in cafeterias. A non exclusive list of other issues affecting food waste in schools are:
socioeconomic status, accessibility of food at home, the time of day food is consumed, the amount
of time given to eat, student activity level, health limitations or

Frailty Syndrome As Elderly Individuals Essay
Life expectancy has increased dramatically in the last century due primarily to the control of
infectious diseases, especially in the younger cohorts and the improvement of medical care and
nutrition. This has, however, resulted in a large percentage of the older population suffering
chronic diseases.
The population within Canada is aging and we are living longer than we have in the past.
According to Statistics Canada (2012), from 1920 1922, a man s average lifespan was 59 years
of age and a woman s average lifespan was 61 years of age; in 2012, this has now increased to 79
for men and 83 for women. This increasing lifespan has created a new frontier in the health and
wellbeing of the elderly as it has resulted in a consequent increase in complex health care needs of
elderly people with Frailty Syndrome. Fried et al. (2005) identify Frailty Syndrome as elderly
individuals meeting three out of five phenotypic criteria indicating compromised energetics: low
grip strength, low energy, slowed walking speed, low physical activity, and/or
Health care systems across Canada are becoming strained by this aging cohort and will continue
to become even more so in the coming years. It is estimated that the number of frail elderly in
Canada will double to well over 2 million within the next 20 years (Young, 2015, pg. 1) and it is
imperative that we look at how we are going to be able to support this through changes in our
healthcare system. One means of doing this is to create more

Persuasive Essay About Ufos
The ongoing wonder on whether or not extraterrestrial life exists is not going to go away after this
news. UFO researchers unveiled yet another NASA image of the sun that they claim is a
spacecraft. However, NASA, who usually never comments on this kind if stuff, talked a little bit
about the supposedly new discovery.
YET ANOTHER SUPPOSED UFO SPOTTED
NASA has the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory satellite that is constantly monitoring the sun.
This satellite is orbiting the sun 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with absolutely no interruptions.
The researchers showed the newest image that the satellite took, and there certainly looked like
there was something around it. However, considering how hot the sun is, that seems very unlikely.
However, that is not stopping the researchers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In one story there was a reported UFO that was the size of the moon. As a matter of fact, there was
two such instances that were reported. Another researcher claimed that they saw around one
thousand rockets near the sun. This is an ongoing claim that will seemingly never stop.
WHAT NASA IS SAYING ABOUT THIS
NASA usually does not like talking about UFO sightings, but they did talk a little about this latest
claim. However, NASA is not quite sold on the fact that these are indeed UFO sightings. The
members of NASA state that images like this are most likely hot spots. Hot spots make it look like
something is there, but in actuality it is just emanating extreme brightness. NASA also stated how
in the past they have been accused of covering up UFO sightings, and that people won t accept their
explanations.
WILL NASA LOOK INTO THIS MORE?
The more times that this comes up, the more interested NASA is going to become. It seems fairly
clear that NASA does not believe these are alien spacecrafts. However, eventually they might have
to take a further look just to make sure they are

What Is Long Term Growth In A City
Designing a layout for a brand new city being developed would have its difficulties but would all be
structured around its geographic location. Developing a city along the coastline would be
extremely different than developing a city in the mountains with reference to reducing traffic within
the central business district. Navigating a mountain range can potentially restrict routing options
when constructing a highway system, whereas being on the coast give you access to plenty of
more public transit options. I believe that long term growth in a cityalong the coastline has the
opportunity to be more prosperous and effective in reducing traffic in the central business district
than a city in any other geographic location. Most major cities have sport teams for baseball,
basketball, football and soccer and a majority of these teams play their games in an arena located
within their given central business district. These teams generate billions of dollars of revenue for
not only their organization, but the businesses that surround them as well. I believe these sport
teams are essential for the long term growth of the cities in the United States. The complexes for
these teams will be located at the north, south, east, and west side of the central business district....

A major problem with traffic among large cities is that their central business district is located too
close to their airport or that the airport is in a location where there is only one major route to
navigate there. The perfect location for this airport would be a few miles away from the central
business district along the location where multiple highways along with the interstate intertwine;
giving multiple entry points to the airports entrance. These highways will lead to different locations
around the city where suburban areas are located giving the traveler multiple regions to easily
navigate in the city upon

Women Should Not Be A Mandatory Procedure For Chinese Women
Throughout history, women have tried many different ways to make themselves as beautiful as
possible to be accepted into their society. In the eleventh century, Foot Binding seemed to be a
mandatory procedure for Chinese Women. It was an excruciating process that women would go
through to please their husbands. Footbinding became popular as a means of a flaunting status
because women from wealthy families who did not need them to work could afford to have their
feet bound The practice became so established that a womanwho did not have bound feet would
have difficulty finding a husband, for most families they demanded a woman with tiny feet
when selecting a wife for their son. The woman who refused to bind her feet was known to
become an outcast and even punished to death. There are a thousand buckets of tears for one
who binds her feet and 5,000 more for the one who unbinds. ( ) Many young girls did it because
it was a mark of beauty and Chinese women with the smallest feet were given the best chance of
living a luxurious life style. This time in history was known to have lasted for at least one
thousand years. Although, Foot Binding was appreciated by Chinese men, but for women it didn
t seem like something to look forward too. This was an excruciating method of women folding all
of her toes, except for the big toe, into the sole of her foot. It was so that her foot appeared smaller
and pointier. This tradition began in the north, later spreading to all parts of

Archaeology Research Paper
Archaeology looks at the whole of human history and prehistory. It is widely accepted that this
period of time spans millions of years, which archaeologists have been able to interpret through the
artifacts, ecofacts, and features which humankind has left behind in their millions of years of
evolution and development. While it may seem like this view is far too broad to succinctly discuss
the historyof our species, every year, which archaeologists have catalogued helps the rest of the
world to understand not just our past, but also our present and future. This long view of history is
a relevant and useful way of looking at our history through an archaeological lens because
archaeologycan tell us where we are from, where we are going, and our cultural heritage. Through
archaeology, we can see the origins of our species and track where we have been and what we
have done. The ability to track our own species and its predecessors allows us to see, in fairly great
detail, the spread and evolution of humans around the globe. Through archaeology, it has been
confirmed that humans originated in Africa, a fact which has long been debated. Archaeologists
can then track human movement... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Futures Markets Reflect People s Expectation About...
Futures markets reflect people s expectation about future prices. However, it has been shown that
models based on single oil futures spot spread tend to be less accurate in the mean squared
prediction error sense than forecasts from simpler models such as no change model or futures
forecast (forecast the h month ahead spot price as the current futures price that matures in h
month). This paper shows that the term structure of oil futures prices also fails to improve on the
forecast performance of the simple no change forecast. Moreover, scenario analysis shows that the
conclusion is insensitive to the length of the initial estimation window or the length of the sample
period.
JEL Code: C53, Q47
Key Words: Oil price, futures, forecast, term structure, spread.
section{Introduction}
The forecast of the spot prices of commodities such as crude oil has played an important role in
modern economics and finance. Accurate predictions of crude oil price will provide tremendous
help since they are also often used as inputs by policymakers such as governors of the central
banks for the decision of monetary policies. Since oil futures prices reflect the prices that both the
buyer and seller agree will be the price of oil upon delivery, they provided information about
investor s expectations about the future price of oil. Recently people have found out that using the
oil futures spot spread can help predict future oil spot prices under certain samples (Wu and
McCallum, 2005),

How Does Pink Floyd Represent Money
Pink Floyd s song Money explains the deeper and darker side of money and how it can be used for
temptations, lust and, greed. The first line of the song says Money get away, I perceive this as a
way of saying money was doing evil things to David Gilmour (or the song writer) and needed to be
pushed away from money. Obviously Pink Floydwas not pushed to far away from money because
this album sold 34 million copies, but that s beside the point. Regardless song makes you believe

Cochlea-Personal Narrative Analysis
Analysis
Researchers have made an exciting connection, they have tested several approaches to improve the
discernment of the electrical stimulation within the cochlea, one of them includes using current
focusing techniques to create more confined electrical fields and using therapies that are drug
centered to help improve the electrode neural interface. Shepherd and Wise discuss how Pinyon
described several different techniques to deliver the needed neurotrophins into the cochlea of
someone who is deaf by using the close field electroporation (CFE) gene therapy. (Shepherd)
Another means of transferring the gene constructs into the cells is electroporation, this is done by
increasing the permeability of the cell membrane through a series of momentary but powerful
electric pulses. Shepherd and Wise were able to transduce mesenchymal cells that were coating the
scala tympani of the cochlea with a complementary DNA the gene construct designed to drive the

Thomas Jefferson A Hypocrite Analysis
The Declaration of Independence states how we as the Thirteen Colonies declared independence
from Great Britain. One of the major arguments made by Thomas Jefferson that supported the
colonies right of independence was how, All men are created equal . However, some question
Jefferson s choice to put forth that statement, and find him a hypocrite, since he himself was a
slave owner. On the contrary, Jefferson should not be seen as a hypocrite, because we can not
judge Jefferson from a modern perspective, as well as Jefferson supported blacks, thus he
included a passage regarding slavery in his draft of the Declaration of Independence, which was
later deleted by congress. One reason why Thomas Jeffersonshould not be seen as a hypocrite is
because we can not pass judgment on Jefferson from a present day point of view. One example
from Thomas Jefferson and the Character Issue by Douglas L. Wilson that highlights this is, the
question of why Jefferson didn t free his slaves only serves to illustrate how presentism involves us
in mistaken assumptions about historical conditions (Wilson pg 6). This quote highlights how we

The Significance Of The Four Noble Practices In Western...
1. Various things echo practices in Western religion. The Noble Eightfold Path for instance, echoes
the Ten Commandments of the Christianity. They both instruct people on what and whatnot to do,
and give them a guideline for everyday life. For example, the Noble Eightfold path instructs
people to have Right Conduct, which is similar to the Ten Commandments saying not to kill or
steal. The Four Noble Truths tell about the evils of the World and how to avoid them, just like the
Bible. Also, the Bible tells Christians how to please God and eventually reach Heaven, just as the
Four Noble Truths leads Buddhists to Nirvana. Buddha tells the Bhikkhus, Since I possessed, O

bodies of food and sleep, and some of them would even practice self mortification. The Middle
Way is a balance between asceticism and over indulgence in the pleasures of the World. It allows a
person to eat, drink, and sleep according to their needs. Buddha states that the Middle Path Keeps

The Pros And Cons Of The Right To Voting
As citizens of the United States, individuals have the ability to participate in their government. In
various countries, political outcomes are more controlled and their citizens have little to no say in
government decisions. In the U.S. however, as part of a representative democracy, citizens eighteen
and older are granted the right to elect politicians to represent them. From local, to state and then on
to the national level, voters may partake in elections. Although U.S. citizens have the right to vote,
as displayed in the low voter turnout, many American voters do not exercise this right due to an
array of reasons.
In more recent national elections, of the registered voters, only about sixty percent actually
participated in the election by casting a vote. Various aspects affect voting turnout. Some people
are more likely to vote than others because they are registered. While in other democratic countries
citizenship automatically enables people to vote, the U.S is one of the few world democracies that
require registration for individuals who wish to vote (Black). Those that are not registered may be
less encouraged to participate in an election. Although some may argue that registering to vote is a
process that requires only a few steps, numerous amounts of individuals fail to take the first step,
thus they do not end up voting (Black). Another aspect that affect the likelihood of an individual
voting include conflicts in schedules. In the U.S., elections are held on

Bed Bath And Beyond Pest Analysis
Bed Bath and Beyond is struggling in the current market. This PEST analysis is aimed at
determining what the major Political, Economic, Social, and Technological are in current business
environment, and how these factors are affecting the Home Goods Retail industry. The modern
polarized political sphere, especially in the United States, can mean that elections result in a
massive change in policy, especially regulatory reforms on businesses. With an increasingly global
and fluctuating economy, modern businesses need to be aware of everything from regional tax
rates to international tariffs. Social norms are changing rapidly and are different from region to
region, meaning that modern business needs to be aware of the social landscape they are operating
in. Finally, the rate of technological growth is the highest it has been in the history of the Earth. All
of these rapidly changing and nuanced factors need to be studied and well understood in order to
run an efficient and effective modern business. All of these four factors are imperative in
understanding why Bed Bath and Beyond is in its current financial situation.

Analysis of Mattel vs Hasbro
Mattel vs Hasbro
Mattel:
History:
Mattel was founded in 1945 by Matt Matson and Elliot and Ruth Handler as a picture frame
manufacturing company. The name Mattel was derived from a combination of the two names, Matt
and Elliot. They operated out of a garage in Southern California. Handler then recognized an
opportunity and began to manufacture dollhouse furniture with scrap material from the picture
frame business. Matson quickly sold out to the Handlers who then changed the focus of the
business to toys. In 1955 Mattel changed the way toy companies advertise. Up until this point, toy
manufacturers relied on retailers to showcase and sell their ... Show more content on

They also currently have the licensing rights to Warner Brothers including Harry Potter, Batman,
Superman, and Looney Tunes as well as the Disney Princesses and Sesame Street. Mattel divides
their operating segments on a geographic basis between Domestic and International. The Domestic
segment is then divided into 3 categories:
1. Mattel Girls and Boys Brands, US. This includes the Barbie line, Polly Pocket, Hot Wheels,
WWE, etc.
2. Fisher Price Brands, US. This includes the Fisher Price brand, Dora the Explorer, Power Wheels,
etc.
3. American Girl Brands. Including the American Girl Doll brand and Bitty Baby.
The International segment sells products from all categories except for American Girl Doll brands.
They are not available overseas.
Internationalization:
Mattel prides itself on their ability to bring play to children around the world. International business
represents more than 50% of gross revenues for many of their key brands. To grow these markets,
they concentrate on investing in infrastructure, building brand awareness, and establishing their
brands as the aspirational brands in the market. Currently they market 80% of their products
globally. Only 20% are geared to individual country markets. When they launch a new global
product, it is done simultaneously in many countries. For example,

The Spaniard Revolt
During the time of the Spaniard rule, the Indians were subjugated to not only the crown s law but
also to the Spaniards religion. From the time that the Spaniards landed until the time Pueblo s revolt
took place the Indians were treated terribly. They were not only made into slaves but they were
starved, and treated with violence when the Spaniard friars began to convert the Indians to
Christianity. Spainwanted to become rich off American land but they also had another goal, to
convert the Indians religion. Because the Spaniards made the Indians into slaves, and believed
them barbaric in their religion, they did not see the Indians as equal and were treated horribly;
until, Las Casas began to write letters of the events and PopГ© became the leader of the Pueblo

Moons Of The Terrestrial Planets
Moons of the Terrestrial Planets
2.2.Moons of Mars
2.2.1Introduction
Mars orbits at a distance of 1.52 AU from the Sun. Mars has two natural satellites, discovered by
Asaph Hall in 1877. The innermost of these, Phobos, is about 22.2 km in diameter
(27.0Г—21.6Г— 18.8) and orbits the planet with a period far less than Mars s period of rotation 7.7
hr. (only one quarter that of Deimos), causing it to rise in the west and set in the east(Born
Duxbury 1975). Thus, it makes more than 3 orbits in a single Martian day. As it orbits, it slowly
spirals in towards the Martian surface. Phobos is drawing closer to Mars by 2 meters every one
hundred years, and it is predicted that it will collide with the planet /or destroyed in the
atmosphere. Phobos has a semi major axis 9376 km (2.76 Mars radii), eccentricity 0.0152 and orbit
mean inclination 1.1o (relative to Mars equator).
The outer satellite, Deimos, is about 12.6 km in diameter (15.0Г—12.2Г— 11.0) and orbital period
about 30 hr. In fact, Deimos is the smallest known moon in the Solar System. Like our own Moon,
Deimos orbits far enough away from Mars that it is being, slowly pushed farther and farther away
from the planet. Deimos has a semi major axis 23463.2 km (6.92 Mars radii), eccentricity 0.0003
and orbit mean inclination 2.4o (relative to Mars equator).
Both Deimos and Phobos have very circular orbits, which lie almost exactly in Mars s equatorial
plane. They are both small, irregular objects comparable in size to the

Emotional Intelligence, By Daniel Goleman
In the book, Emotional Intelligence, Daniel Goleman discusses what emotional intelligence is, how
it can be achieved, and why it can matter more than your IQ. Emotional intelligence, by his
definition, is the ability to recognize and understand both our personal emotions and the emotions
of others. This also includes the ability to manage our personal emotions. He introduces us to the
topic and the history of the brain, discusses the importance of it in our lives, marriage, and
business, and concludes by suggesting it should be developed during childhood when the brain is
still developing. However, this does not mean our emotional intelligenceskills cannot be sharpened
and taught during adulthood. According to Goleman, academic intelligence has little to do with
emotional life (Goleman, 34) and therefore does not correlate immensely with success. More
specifically, he says IQ contributes about 20% to the factors that determine life success, which
leaves 80% to other forces... ranging from social class to luck (34). Essentially, this means that
just because you are smart, it does not mean you will be successful. You must have social skills
and good standing. Studies have found that having a high IQ, but low emotional intelligence
results in a sort of detachment a lack of understanding and a lack of interest in the world. By
contrast, a low IQ and high emotional intelligence result in an outgoing and cheerful personality,
with a desire to live life and find meaning in

Theme Of Hector And Irruin In The History Boys
Hector is the Hero of Act One and Irwin is the Villain How far do you agree?
In Allan Bennett s, The History Boys, controversial teachers hector and Irwin are made out as one
hero and the other a villain. The ability to be able to distinguish these complex characters as a
hero, a person who is admired for their admirable nature; or a villain, who s immoral and erroneous
actions characterise them distinctly; is irrelevant as they both harbour characteristics seen as
desirable and distasteful. Both Hector and Irwin display qualities characteristic of being both a hero
and villain, therefore neither being solely one or the other. Hector and Irwin are neither solely a
hero or villain as they both commit actions that are typical of being a tragic Hero (Hector) and an
Anti hero (Irwin).
Hector can be seen as the Hero in this play as his want for his students to be enriched by
education portrays him as a cool and revered mentor. To become this figure that appeals to the
audience, hector s teaching style is portrayed as irrelevant, interesting and energetic. Irrelevance
is affirmed by his use of French in the comedic prostitute scene (p12 19). The use of the French
language in the dialogue is used to convey how connected the boys and Hector are. The
flourishing nature of French presents a kind of mystery to their fun; to all that don t understand, it
s like being left out of a club. By having his general studies lesson in French, completely off topic,

Examples Of The Villain In The Hobbit
Smaug the Smug Dragon
There are many types of villains; the cunning, the crazy, the prideful and even the heroic villain,
but there is also the standard villain. Smaug the dragon is the antagonist in The Hobbit and he is a
standard villain; a stereotypical one, but even he has some certain traits that differentiate him from
the basic villains. He is terrible, merciless and evil, with only one weakness, isolated in his castle
full of gold.
Villain are mostly portrayed as big and powerful, making them in no need of anyone s help, and
Smaug is so. A vast red golden dragon with a huge coiled tail Smaug was described as, showing
that he could easily crush living beings and destroy houses (Tolkien 233). Smaug lay, with wings

he never even doubts himself when attacking Lake Town without thought and sneaking up on

he did to the old citizens of Dale. However it would also be appreciated if he would have had a
chance to become good, whether he would accept the chance or not would be up to the author. If
he were to decline the chance, it would only strengthen the idea of his purely evil nature. If he
were to accept it, it would teach a lesson to the audience that no matter how bad someone is or
how many bad things they have done, one can always change. However, Smaug was a most

Focused Clinical Research Questions Discovering new information applicable to the field of
nursing begins by asking a focused clinical research question. According to Stone (2002), asking the
appropriate question is essential for the research process that follows. Although there are countless
nursing problems that are worth investigating, it is imperative to narrow the focus of the problems
so they can be empirically tested (Adams, 2012). Personal clinical experience, professional
literature, previous research, and current nursing theories are a few examples of sources where
research questions can be identified (Adams, 2012). The purpose of this paper is to explain the

Focused Clinical Questions A focused clinical research question is comprised of four essential
elements: the patient, population, or problem (P); the intervention of interest (I); the comparison of
interest or the standard of care (C); and the outcome of interest (O). These four components
represent the acronym PICO (Stone, 2002). As the elements of PICO become more precise, the
review of the literature becomes more focused. For example, elements of PICO may translate into
medical subject headings that can direct searches of the literature (Stone, 2002). Also, clinical
questions for specific patient populations can be identified so that relevant information can be
found on databases and Internet search engines easily (Adams, 2012). The facilitation of the data
collection process is determined by how well the PICO components are articulated during the
development of the focused clinical question (Stone, 2002). The development of focused clinical
questions begins with the identification of the patient, population, or problem. This component of
PICO must be carefully defined to avoid information that is too general or off topic (Adams, 2012).
For example, there is a difference between the adult population and the elderly population. This
distinction must be made in this component of PICO to yield accurate search results. The
intervention of interest should also be specified to produce applicable information (Adams, 2012).
According to Adams (2012), the

Some people who have experienced sexual abuse have a hard time recognizing harmful outcomes
of situations or decisions. Because of this difficulty, individuals who experienced sexual abuse as
a child are more prone to partake in at risk behavior while they are adults, especially college aged.
At risk behaviors for college students could include unprotected sex and self medication with drugs

Emotional Effects The emotional effects sexually abused individuals experience are numerous.
Some common effects include low self esteem, maladaptive coping strategies, difficulty

effects are related to sexual abuse. Low self esteem. Low self esteem is one emotion that victims

Statistics on Cooperative Learning
WHAT ARE THE STATISTICS ON COOPERATIVE
LEARNING ANYWAY?
Cooperative learning has been debated by educators for a long time and continues to be questioned
today. Many educators feel that cooperative learning strips students of the benefits of direct
instruction. Proponents of homogeneous learning tend to stray from cooperative learning because
it seems to deprive gifted students of learning with their gifted peers. Five studies will be

Teachers also received training in this area. The groups, then, participated in grade level appropriate
math units. Students were further encouraged to work cooperatively because individual
improvement on assessments also earned team points. Data was collected by audio and video
recordings. The research team hypothesized that helping behaviors would be related to
achievement. Achievement gain would be used as the dependent variable and would be measured
by an ANCOVA test. The team found that there was a significant relationship to students using
helping behaviors in cooperative learning groups to academic achievement gain. The only behaviors
that did not show significant growth were the giving and receiving of answers without explanation
(Nattiv, 1994). Another study conducted in Southeastern United States focused on a different type
of cooperative learning called Collaborative Strategic Reading. Klingner, Vaughn, and Schumm
(1998) sought to discover if this program would be effective in a heterogeneous classroom. They
further wanted to analyze reading comprehension, social studies content, and student interactions in
conjunction with this technique (Klingner, Vaughn, Schumm, 1998). The participants included 141
students. Eighty five students were split into three classes to represent the treatment group (or

What Is The Theme Of The Kiss By Kate Chopin
The Kiss
The Kiss is Kate Chopin s short story about a woman scheming to marry a wealthy man. The story
was written on September 19, 1894, and first published in Vogue on January 17, 1895. The
contents of the story are as follows.
The outside was still light, but the curtains were covered inside and the light smoke from the
fireplace emitted a dim, strange light on the room, leaving dark shadows. Brantain was sitting in
one of these shadows, and he was clenched and uncomfortable. Thanks to the darkness, he could
comfortably direct his love filled gaze to the girl sitting in the fireplace. The girl was so beautiful,
she had a beautiful skin color for healthy brunette girls, and she seemed very calm as she stroked
the silky feather of the cat in her lap. And occasionally, he looked glanced at his friend in the

In the same way, he described the room as full of deep shadows , reflecting the relationship of

Although it is clear that Brantain loved Nathalie at any stage in the story, the reader doubts that this
love is mutually shared. There is an attitude saying that Nathalie married Brantain, not love, but
rather a comfortable life with Brantain; A rich manwho is aware of the reader (as opposed to

A Brief Note On Non Profit Tax Compliance
Non Profit Tax Compliance
Unlike for profit businesses, the focus of a nonprofit is not on gaining profits for shareholders and
owners, but to fulfil a charitable mission for the benefit of the public. Because of this mission
focus, the IRS has recognized these organizations as exempt from the federal income tax that is
placed on for profit businesses and individuals. This recognition is not automatic and is not
guaranteed. Nonprofit organization must still follow the rules and regulations set forth by the IRS
and the U.S. Government regarding tax compliance. If these rules are not followed, a nonprofit
organization could lose their tax exempt status.

Charitable organizations are formed for many different purposes, but in order to be eligible for tax

commonly used exemption is described in I.R.C. В§501(c)(3) which accounts for 1.11 million of
the total 1.72 million organizations that are exempt from tax (Fishman, 2015). Because these

Measuring Crime And Crime Statistics
Measuring crime helps criminal justice agencies to reflect on the effectiveness of policies in
existence and correctly target resources. Crime statistics are therefore central to solving crime in
England and Wales. In order for crime to be tackled effectively, it is vital that it is measured
accurately. There are two sources of crimestatistics published annually in the UK namely police
recorded crime and the Crime Survey of England and Wales. According to the Crime Survey of
England and Wales, in total there were 7.1 million incidents of crime in 2013 2014. Although
there has been an 11% reduction in crime, several categories of crime such as sexual offences,
fraud and public order offences are up from the previous year. In comparison, latest figures from
police recorded crime shows no overall change from the previous year, with 3.7 million offences
recorded in the year ending March 2014. Whilst Left Realists argue that crime statistics are an
accurate indicator of the state of crime in society, the disparities between the sources of crime
statistics suggest that crime statistics provide an inaccurate measurement of crime in the UK.
Marxists believe that crime statistics are flawed and manipulated by the government in an attempt
to deceive the public. Research calculated by Her Majesty s Inspectorate of Constabulary supports
this view as it revealed that more than 800,000 offences are left off the official crime figure in
England and Wales each year. It is clear that

Flu Season Research Paper
Countless news headlines refer to this flu season as deadly or the deadliest, lending to the
destructive nature of the 2018 flu activity. The worry and misery that a flu season can bring with
it has certainly surpassed that of the last few years. The high number of deaths is an alarming

A H3N2 Strain
This season has witnessed the presence and impact that two flu strains, the A H1N1, and the A

incidents this season. The A H3N2 is noted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

being those under the age of 2. It is a rapidly mutating virus and is capable of evading vaccine,

Evolution Of Sexual And Sexual Selection
This article focuses on the evolution of sexual differences in insects. Intense sexual selection due to
competition for mates is the main driving force behind the evolution of such variations. Males
produce smaller and more numerous gametes than females and often competition between males is
greater than that between females. It is suggested by the authors that the material contribution by
each of sexes to the next generation is what determines the reproductive rate of the population. In an
instances where one sexcontributes more to the reproduction and survival of the offspring than the
other this sex will become the limiting factor for sexual selection, and will be subject to greater
loss of fitness if an importer mate choice is made. In terms of contribution to offspring both male
and femalecan provide care in various ways. The relative investment of each sex will determine
the degree to which the one sex competes for the opposite one. The observed sexual differences
proved a clue about the intensity of sexual selection in particular species. Usually females
contribute more to the offspring care and are the limiting factor for sexual selection, as a result
males exhibit more variations in secondary sexual characteristics in terms of morphology and
behavior. In species that male provide more care the roles are reversed. Though direct care is not
common in insects the males might contribute indirectly by protecting the female after mating as
observed in several

Analysis Of Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
Understanding the sources for a particular work is an important task for literary critics, because it
ultimately leads to a better understanding and appreciation of the work itself. Sometimes
similarities are so weak as to strain the credulity of theories propounding influence. At other times,
the ties are so strong that influence is near certain. However, regardless of the strength of such ties,
the alterations made to an original source are very potent cues as to authorial intention. In
composing The Canterbury Tales, there is a broad diversity of tales told by a wide range of
narrators. This indicates that Chaucer likely used a wide variety of sources. The alterations
made by Chaucer to the source material for the Clerk s Tale, including Boccaccio s Decameron
X, or The Story of Griselda, indicate Chaucer s motive to examine issues such as marriage as
was found in Renaissance Italy, and to explore the state of mind of the Marquis, as well as
Griselda. Chaucer not only layers psychological depth to Boccaccio s tale, but also adds to its
traditional veneration of the obedient and tractable wife a genuine admiration for women in general.
Much critical ink has been spilled contesting the power of influence Boccaccio s work in the
Decameron had over Chaucer in writing The Canterbury Tales. Indeed, though the two works
diverge in both plot and subject, they also possess strong similarities. These convergences have led
readers to presume that Chaucer engaged in heavy

How To Do The Right Thing In The Movie Pan
Many people just go with the flow because of their fear of being ridiculed and isolated if they do
the right thing. Doing the right thing, no matter what it may appear like in the immediate
future, will almost always turn out better. The idea of always doing the right thing is supported
by a boy named Peter in the movie Pan. He is enslaved in a work camp with thousands of other
boys, where they were forced to mine gems for the powerful empire. Everyone else there had
abandoned the idea that they would ever be free; however Peter did what he knew was right even
though he ran the risk of being killed. He rallied a small militia by giving them hope and rebelled
against the cruel empire. As a result of his courageous actions he, and all of the

Raymond Carver s A Small, Good Thing
In Raymond Carver s A Small, Good Thing, we are presented with several good things worth
cherishing in this heartbreaking story of a young couple dealing with the tragic death of their only
child. The death of the child resulting from a hit and run car accident. Carver explains to the reader
how undeniably humanit is to take our love ones for granted. In the beginning the selfish actions
of the baker contributed to the couple s anger and confusion. However, by the end of the story
they are left with a sense of optimism and strength. The story, A Small, Good Thing, is not so
much about death as it is about people being able to relate to others loss and fear. The story
begins when Ann Weiss orders a cake for her son s birthday. She describes the baker as an older
man with a thick neck (Carver) and states that his attitude made her feel uncomfortable.
Additionally, she wonders if he d ever done anything else with his life besides be a baker
(Carver). Ann is genuinely surprised at the bakers bad attitude and does not understand why he
isn t happy about her son s birthday. Nevertheless, she continues to order the cake and plans to
pick it up on Monday. On her way out she notices a large oven and that the radio is playing
country music. The author is clearly mindful when it comes to his word choice. The choice of
words he uses allows him to convey his point very well. In this scene where the mother is ordering
the cake for her son, she does not inform the baker of her

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese VS generic brand

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Vs. Generic Brand
Everyone has his or her own personal preference towards buying generic or name brand products.
When shopping in a grocery store does the type of pasta really matter to you? How about the type
of macaroni and cheese you reach for? Same ingredients, same directions on how to mix and stir
up the final manufactured goods but is it really the same . To a lot of people it might not make a
difference, but like me, a lot of people prefer spending the extra 50 cents on a box of Kraft
Macaroni and Cheese and it s worth every penny. Is it the taste that you are paying for? Or maybe
it s the quality of the product that you re basing it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Kraft Company has been around for a long time now. Personally I believe you must have a
protective firm, not allowing other companies to steal your ideas and product. This will give the
firm advantage over others. Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is dominating the market with almost 1
million boxes sold a day. They have to keep up their revenue by attracting a new fan base. Shapes
and designs of pasta are surprisingly essential for Kraft. Over 2000 patents of shaped macaroni
and cheese have been officially signed for and used, only about 280 have been obtained by Kraft
Macaroni and Cheese. One of their biggest selling characters and patents is SpongeBob Square
Pants, a TV show that has been on air for about 12 years now. Kids thrive for the little macaroni
shapes of SpongeBob, Sandy, Patrick, and Mr. Crabs. When Kraft came out with these shapes they
couldn t produce enough of them for mom s and their kids. Sales rocketed through the roof and
Kraft Macaroni and Cheese monopolized the competition with this brand new shape that no one
else could use. Knowing exactly what to market at a specific time is huge when it comes to any
company that wants to be successful. This is what sets them apart from the rest and has given them
that extra economic profit. Macaroni shapes are not the only ingredients that set them apart from
the rest. Have you ever

How To Stay Protected From Gold IRA Scams Essay
How to stay protected from Gold IRA Scams Steve Starr, a Tampa Bay based RV dealer was
going slow with his sales in 2008 when he was approached by a Spyker Telemarketer, a fraudulent
investing company. According to a story on CNBC, The company manipulated Starr to invest
$25000 in precious metals through a sales pitch. Spyker also validated Starrs investment to be
profitable through misleading statements. Instead of investing the investor s hard earned money,
Spyker Telemarketer pocketed it and was pleaded guilty of the scam in 2010. Without any access to

Later on, they will direct the investors throughout the investment transaction. Lastly, the investor

that their portfolio is diverse with gold IRA but in reality, there is no evidence to support it. To
investigate such gold IRA scams, demand on legal documents from your custodian, ensuring an
access to organize, view, and recover your gold from the storage. Scam Example 1: Promoting
Numismatic Coins ( coins that rarely appreciate) In this gold IRA scam, dealers will convince the
customers to spend more money than they should be. Investors should be buying bullion coins,
which are not as profitable to sell compared to the numismatic coins. Thus, the pushy upselling
techniques to buy numismatic coins because they are rare or historic can have wrong motives.
The fact that numismatic coins are not permitted to be stored in the precious metal IRA and that
they have an extremely low liquidity will be conveniently hidden. This form of scam can also con
the investors by giving a false assurance that numismatic coins may not be seized by the
government in any circumstances. To protect yourself from such gold IRA scams, it is essential to
understand that only definite bullion coins are eligible for deposition. Analyzing the kind of coins
before putting in money can save you from a high risk or dead investment of numismatic coins.

Should Video Games Be Considered Sports? Are eAthletes a group of teenagers who sit in a dark

other video games like Madden or Fifa people might say: Why can t those be considered a sport?
It s all just video games. Well, games like League of Legends or Dota 2 are highly competitive
games that gets 1.2million viewers almost everyday. The tough grind to climb the ladder, the
ranking system the games put in place, could take 3 weeks just climbing from one tier to the next.

Portrait Of A Teenage Girl Belonging To Jane Austen s Life
The reading claims that a portrait of a teenage girl belonging to one of the members of Jane Austin
family can be titled to Jane Austen according to the numerous ideas. However, the lecturer finds all
the ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all.
The author argues that in 1882, Austen family authorized to use the portrait for publication of her
letters and obviously distinguished the portrait as Jane. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea
that Austen had been dead for 70 years when family members gave permission to exploit that
portray in the edition of her letters. Consequently, they could not have seen her to have any clue
about her teenager s face.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that the face in

Nanacha s Digger
There is a fierce competition going on every night in the woods, a secret ritualistic meeting of
disenfranchised businessmen. Each armed with a shovel they challenge is to dig for as long as
you can. The nightly competition attracts a nameless and silent protagonist, an office worker
who spends his days fantasizing about the act of digging. He must face some fierce competition
in order to make it to the top and beat the man who silently watches over the event. Digger is an
example that in the world of the absurd anything can become a competition. This short film
which features no dialogue and a lot of digging is more fun in execution than concept. The late
night rituals the men perform in the short makes it feel as if this is just an event that has been and
always will be, steeped in a deep tradition with synchronized dances and an unspoken language
that you have to dig to prove your worth. Although it is hard to imagine this drawn out into feature
length as a short film it is very successful at creating this odd, funny yet endearing culture of a
bunch of businessmen digging holes in the middle of the forest while being cheered on by their
peers. Digger is a comedic gem with an ideal runtime that is bound to entertain audiences.... Show

Dorothy s The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz
Everyone wishes that things could be given to them even if they have the means to obtain it

Dorothy take a journey together in the Land of Oz. They are traveling to the Emerald City to meet
the Oz because they believe that he can give them what they want. The Oz gives all of them except
Dorothy what they want even though they already had what they wanted. Dorothy finds Glinda the
Good Witch and Glinda tells Dorothy that she already has the means to get home; the shoes. In the
end, everyone gets what they want. The Scarecrow, Tinman, Lion, and Dorothy are all searching for
someone to help them with a problem that they already have a solution to.
The Scarecrow is wishing that the Wizard will give him a brain even though he already has one.
The Scarecrow proves that he has a brain throughout the entire story. The Scarecrow helps protect

Trish is experiencing the three components of attitudes which are: cognitive which is the beliefs
of Trish, the affective which is the feelings of Trish and the behavioral which is the intention of

that, and she thinks it is not fair. The second one is affective that is when Trisk begins to dislike

  • 2. Essay about Book Analysis of World War Z by Max Brooks World War Z was written by Max Brooks and published in 2007. Max has two other books that are also about surviving a zombie apocalypse. The general maxim about zombie apocalypse books is that they are for pure entertainment; however, his books carry hidden messages that pertain to modern society. World War Z is an exceptional book of entertainment and knowledge. The book was created into a motion picture starring Brad Pitt because of the much kudos that Max Brooks received from readers. No book has captivated the zombie apocalypse better than World War Z. Max Brooks creatively presents a worldwide zombie pandemic from outbreak to aftermath (Boyd, Tristan). His book encompasses many social and political themes in the world today. The book... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The social layout completely changes as the outbreak consumes the world. A major contributing factor to this great change is the fear and uncertainty that is instilled by the zombies. I believe that Brooks defined fear through people s reactions to the outbreak. He explains how fear is the most basic emotion and how fear is the reasoning to perform an act. In one of his stories, he writes, fear is the most valuable commodity in the universe (Brooks). This is true because we buy products and services based on the fear of not having those products and the results of not having that commodity. Combining all these serious themes into a very entertaining book should attract many readers. However, there was some confusion with the story line. Since this book is a collection of interviews, it wasn t a conventional story. When I first started the book, I wasn t sure why I was jumping from country to country and why each story was completely different. As I continued to read the book, I was able to understand that these were a collection of eyewitness accounts of the war. Also, Max Brooks uses a rife amount of vulgar language which I think could have been kept out. However, it made it real and that s what this book is about. Breaking that long held axiom about zombie books, Max Brooks was able to bring a new definition to the zombie apocalypse. His talent to bring a well rounded novel to the ... • 3. The World Wildlife Fund ( Wwf ) Essay Media Audit The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has launched several campaigns in the past few years, all focused on several endangered species and natural habitats to try and save the extinction of the planet s biodiversity. Although WWF has had success in their campaigns and received a plethora of positive feedback, the non profit organization has also received negative comments in the media. Strengths Goals. WWF s work has evolved from saving species and lands to addressing the larger global threats and forces that impact them. Recognizing that the problems facing the planet are increasingly more urgent and complex, they have refined the way in which they work around a new, ambitious strategy. Their new strategy puts people at the center and organizes their goals around six key areas: marine, forests, wildlife, freshwater, climate, and food. By linking those six areas in an integrated approach, they receive better leverage for their unique assets and direct all the fund s resources to protecting vulnerable places, species, and communities worldwide. In the WWF s Manifesto campaign, the organization states that even the most ordinary people have an impact. From the government to large corporations, WWF demonstrates that with the start of one person any goal can be achieved. An article from Spiegel, an English based magazine, said: Even with the littlest impact from someone is still an impact, and WWF finally recognizes that it only takes one person. • 8. The Colonization Of Indonesia And Indonesia As a Junior in high school, my history teacher taught us that our native country, Indonesia, was colonized by the Dutch for 350 years beginning in the year 1595. The Netherlands is one of the European countries that established itself over other countries in order to take advantage of them, in this case to take advantage of Indonesia s rich land and resources. Indonesia is a land rich in spices, rice, sugar, tea, coffee, and other products desirable for export. The Dutch colonized us with the purpose of monopolizing our trade. Because of the profits obtained from Indonesia s most important resource, that of its spices, the Netherlandstook tremendous wealth from our land. During the Colonial era, the United State of America and Great Britain maintained a good rapport with their colonies and respected their laws. Both countries allowed more independence for their colonies. On the other hand, European countries such as the Netherlands, Spain, and France were very restrictive toward their colonies, for example, they limited education for certain social groups. Also, Southeast Asia was not allowed to engage in economic activities. This caused a great deal of corruption as well as huge problems in these European countries. These more oppressive colonial rulers did not support the rules of law in the indigenous countries, in this case in Indonesian. They levied laws on the Indonesians but not on the Dutch immigrants there. They put controls on our people but not their people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Factors Of Food Waste In Public Schools Growing research shows steady increase in food waste throughout the globe. One largely contributing factor is food waste produced from the public schools. The amount of food wasted in schools, according to the USDA, has ranged between 10 37% of calories served (Buzby, J., Guthrie, J., 2002). It is difficult to compare public schoolwasteto global amounts due to the scarcity of specific data this would depend on region, economic status and additional factors associated with how and why foodis wasted in schools. Having said that, this is a large enough problem that it is actively noticed and prompting intervention. With these numbers rising, food waste negatively impacts costs for the community, carbon emissions, water use and more. However, students in the public schools are not completely to blame, as some factors affect food waste after the implementation of some lunch programs, which are targeted to increase encourage students to reach their recommended adequate intake of nutrients, such as the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 (Hakim, S., Meissen, G., 2017). Likewise, food serving methods have also played a role in the amount of food wasted by students, by using the offer model and serve model approaches in cafeterias. A non exclusive list of other issues affecting food waste in schools are: socioeconomic status, accessibility of food at home, the time of day food is consumed, the amount of time given to eat, student activity level, health limitations or ... • 10. Frailty Syndrome As Elderly Individuals Essay Life expectancy has increased dramatically in the last century due primarily to the control of infectious diseases, especially in the younger cohorts and the improvement of medical care and nutrition. This has, however, resulted in a large percentage of the older population suffering chronic diseases. The population within Canada is aging and we are living longer than we have in the past. According to Statistics Canada (2012), from 1920 1922, a man s average lifespan was 59 years of age and a woman s average lifespan was 61 years of age; in 2012, this has now increased to 79 for men and 83 for women. This increasing lifespan has created a new frontier in the health and wellbeing of the elderly as it has resulted in a consequent increase in complex health care needs of elderly people with Frailty Syndrome. Fried et al. (2005) identify Frailty Syndrome as elderly individuals meeting three out of five phenotypic criteria indicating compromised energetics: low grip strength, low energy, slowed walking speed, low physical activity, and/or Health care systems across Canada are becoming strained by this aging cohort and will continue to become even more so in the coming years. It is estimated that the number of frail elderly in Canada will double to well over 2 million within the next 20 years (Young, 2015, pg. 1) and it is imperative that we look at how we are going to be able to support this through changes in our healthcare system. • 12. What Is Long Term Growth In A City Designing a layout for a brand new city being developed would have its difficulties but would all be structured around its geographic location. Developing a city along the coastline would be extremely different than developing a city in the mountains with reference to reducing traffic within the central business district. Navigating a mountain range can potentially restrict routing options when constructing a highway system, whereas being on the coast give you access to plenty of more public transit options. I believe that long term growth in a cityalong the coastline has the opportunity to be more prosperous and effective in reducing traffic in the central business district than a city in any other geographic location. Most major cities have sport teams for baseball, basketball, football and soccer and a majority of these teams play their games in an arena located within their given central business district. These teams generate billions of dollars of revenue for not only their organization, but the businesses that surround them as well. Women Should Not Be A Mandatory Procedure For Chinese Women Throughout history, women have tried many different ways to make themselves as beautiful as possible to be accepted into their society. In the eleventh century, Foot Binding seemed to be a mandatory procedure for Chinese Women. It was an excruciating process that women would go through to please their husbands. Footbinding became popular as a means of a flaunting status because women from wealthy families who did not need them to work could afford to have their feet bound The practice became so established that a womanwho did not have bound feet would have difficulty finding a husband, for most families they demanded a woman with tiny feet when selecting a wife for their son. The woman who refused to bind her feet was known to become an outcast and even punished to death. There are a thousand buckets of tears for one who binds her feet and 5,000 more for the one who unbinds. ( ) Many young girls did it because it was a mark of beauty and Chinese women with the smallest feet were given the best chance of living a luxurious life style. This time in history was known to have lasted for at least one thousand years. Although, Foot Binding was appreciated by Chinese men, but for women it didn t seem like something to look forward too. • 14. Archaeology Research Paper Archaeology looks at the whole of human history and prehistory. It is widely accepted that this period of time spans millions of years, which archaeologists have been able to interpret through the artifacts, ecofacts, and features which humankind has left behind in their millions of years of evolution and development. While it may seem like this view is far too broad to succinctly discuss the historyof our species, every year, which archaeologists have catalogued helps the rest of the world to understand not just our past, but also our present and future. This long view of history is a relevant and useful way of looking at our history through an archaeological lens because archaeologycan tell us where we are from, where we are going, and our cultural heritage. Through archaeology, we can see the origins of our species and track where we have been and what we have done. The ability to track our own species and its predecessors allows us to see, in fairly great detail, the spread and evolution of humans around the globe. However, it has been shown that models based on single oil futures spot spread tend to be less accurate in the mean squared prediction error sense than forecasts from simpler models such as no change model or futures forecast (forecast the h month ahead spot price as the current futures price that matures in h month). This paper shows that the term structure of oil futures prices also fails to improve on the forecast performance of the simple no change forecast. Moreover, scenario analysis shows that the conclusion is insensitive to the length of the initial estimation window or the length of the sample period. JEL Code: C53, Q47 Key Words: Oil price, futures, forecast, term structure, spread. section{Introduction} The forecast of the spot prices of commodities such as crude oil has played an important role in modern economics and finance. Accurate predictions of crude oil price will provide tremendous help since they are also often used as inputs by policymakers such as governors of the central banks for the decision of monetary policies. Since oil futures prices reflect the prices that both the buyer and seller agree will be the price of oil upon delivery, they provided information about investor s expectations about the future price of oil. Shepherd and Wise discuss how Pinyon described several different techniques to deliver the needed neurotrophins into the cochlea of someone who is deaf by using the close field electroporation (CFE) gene therapy. One of the major arguments made by Thomas Jefferson that supported the colonies right of independence was how, All men are created equal . However, some question Jefferson s choice to put forth that statement, and find him a hypocrite, since he himself was a slave owner. On the contrary, Jefferson should not be seen as a hypocrite, because we can not judge Jefferson from a modern perspective, as well as Jefferson supported blacks, thus he included a passage regarding slavery in his draft of the Declaration of Independence, which was later deleted by congress. One reason why Thomas Jeffersonshould not be seen as a hypocrite is because we can not pass judgment on Jefferson from a present day point of view. One example from Thomas Jefferson and the Character Issue by Douglas L. Wilson that highlights this is, the question of why Jefferson didn t free his slaves only serves to illustrate how presentism involves us in mistaken assumptions about historical conditions (Wilson pg 6). • 23. The Pros And Cons Of The Right To Voting As citizens of the United States, individuals have the ability to participate in their government. In various countries, political outcomes are more controlled and their citizens have little to no say in government decisions. In the U.S. however, as part of a representative democracy, citizens eighteen and older are granted the right to elect politicians to represent them. From local, to state and then on to the national level, voters may partake in elections. Although U.S. citizens have the right to vote, as displayed in the low voter turnout, many American voters do not exercise this right due to an array of reasons. In more recent national elections, of the registered voters, only about sixty percent actually participated in the election by casting a vote. Various aspects affect voting turnout. Some people are more likely to vote than others because they are registered. While in other democratic countries citizenship automatically enables people to vote, the U.S is one of the few world democracies that require registration for individuals who wish to vote (Black). Those that are not registered may be less encouraged to participate in an election. Although some may argue that registering to vote is a process that requires only a few steps, numerous amounts of individuals fail to take the first step, thus they do not end up voting (Black). Another aspect that affect the likelihood of an individual voting include conflicts in schedules. In the U.S., elections are held on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mars has two natural satellites, discovered by Asaph Hall in 1877. The innermost of these, Phobos, is about 22.2 km in diameter (27.0Г—21.6Г— 18.8) and orbits the planet with a period far less than Mars s period of rotation 7.7 hr. (only one quarter that of Deimos), causing it to rise in the west and set in the east(Born Duxbury 1975). Thus, it makes more than 3 orbits in a single Martian day. As it orbits, it slowly spirals in towards the Martian surface. Phobos is drawing closer to Mars by 2 meters every one hundred years, and it is predicted that it will collide with the planet /or destroyed in the atmosphere. Phobos has a semi major axis 9376 km (2.76 Mars radii), eccentricity 0.0152 and orbit mean inclination 1.1o (relative to Mars equator). The outer satellite, Deimos, is about 12.6 km in diameter (15.0Г—12.2Г— 11.0) and orbital period about 30 hr. In fact, Deimos is the smallest known moon in the Solar System. Like our own Moon, Deimos orbits far enough away from Mars that it is being, slowly pushed farther and farther away from the planet. • 31. Emotional Intelligence, By Daniel Goleman In the book, Emotional Intelligence, Daniel Goleman discusses what emotional intelligence is, how it can be achieved, and why it can matter more than your IQ. Emotional intelligence, by his definition, is the ability to recognize and understand both our personal emotions and the emotions of others. This also includes the ability to manage our personal emotions. He introduces us to the topic and the history of the brain, discusses the importance of it in our lives, marriage, and business, and concludes by suggesting it should be developed during childhood when the brain is still developing. However, this does not mean our emotional intelligenceskills cannot be sharpened and taught during adulthood. According to Goleman, academic intelligence has little to do with emotional life (Goleman, 34) and therefore does not correlate immensely with success. More specifically, he says IQ contributes about 20% to the factors that determine life success, which leaves 80% to other forces... ranging from social class to luck (34). Essentially, this means that just because you are smart, it does not mean you will be successful. You must have social skills and good standing. Studies have found that having a high IQ, but low emotional intelligence results in a sort of detachment a lack of understanding and a lack of interest in the world. By contrast, a low IQ and high emotional intelligence result in an outgoing and cheerful personality, with a desire to live life and find meaning in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Allan Bennett s, The History Boys, controversial teachers hector and Irwin are made out as one hero and the other a villain. The ability to be able to distinguish these complex characters as a hero, a person who is admired for their admirable nature; or a villain, who s immoral and erroneous actions characterise them distinctly; is irrelevant as they both harbour characteristics seen as desirable and distasteful. Both Hector and Irwin display qualities characteristic of being both a hero and villain, therefore neither being solely one or the other. Hector and Irwin are neither solely a hero or villain as they both commit actions that are typical of being a tragic Hero (Hector) and an Anti hero (Irwin). Hector can be seen as the Hero in this play as his want for his students to be enriched by education portrays him as a cool and revered mentor. To become this figure that appeals to the audience, hector s teaching style is portrayed as irrelevant, interesting and energetic. Irrelevance is affirmed by his use of French in the comedic prostitute scene (p12 19). The use of the French language in the dialogue is used to convey how connected the boys and Hector are. Focused Clinical Questions A focused clinical research question is comprised of four essential elements: the patient, population, or problem (P); the intervention of interest (I); the comparison of interest or the standard of care (C); and the outcome of interest (O). These four components represent the acronym PICO (Stone, 2002). As the elements of PICO become more precise, the review of the literature becomes more focused. For example, elements of PICO may translate into medical subject headings that can direct searches of the literature (Stone, 2002). Also, clinical questions for specific patient populations can be identified so that relevant information can be found on databases and Internet search engines easily (Adams, 2012). The facilitation of the data collection process is determined by how well the PICO components are articulated during the development of the focused clinical question (Stone, 2002). The development of focused clinical questions begins with the identification of the patient, population, or problem. This component of PICO must be carefully defined to avoid information that is too general or off topic (Adams, 2012). For example, there is a difference between the adult population and the elderly population. This distinction must be made in this component of PICO to yield accurate search results. The intervention of interest should also be specified to produce applicable information (Adams, 2012). According to Adams (2012), the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Crime statistics are therefore central to solving crime in England and Wales. In order for crime to be tackled effectively, it is vital that it is measured accurately. There are two sources of crimestatistics published annually in the UK namely police recorded crime and the Crime Survey of England and Wales. According to the Crime Survey of England and Wales, in total there were 7.1 million incidents of crime in 2013 2014. Whilst Left Realists argue that crime statistics are an accurate indicator of the state of crime in society, the disparities between the sources of crime statistics suggest that crime statistics provide an inaccurate measurement of crime in the UK. Marxists believe that crime statistics are flawed and manipulated by the government in an attempt to deceive the public. • 45. Evolution Of Sexual And Sexual Selection This article focuses on the evolution of sexual differences in insects. Intense sexual selection due to competition for mates is the main driving force behind the evolution of such variations. Males produce smaller and more numerous gametes than females and often competition between males is greater than that between females. It is suggested by the authors that the material contribution by each of sexes to the next generation is what determines the reproductive rate of the population. In an instances where one sexcontributes more to the reproduction and survival of the offspring than the other this sex will become the limiting factor for sexual selection, and will be subject to greater loss of fitness if an importer mate choice is made. In terms of contribution to offspring both male and femalecan provide care in various ways. The relative investment of each sex will determine the degree to which the one sex competes for the opposite one. The observed sexual differences proved a clue about the intensity of sexual selection in particular species. Usually females contribute more to the offspring care and are the limiting factor for sexual selection, as a result males exhibit more variations in secondary sexual characteristics in terms of morphology and behavior. In species that male provide more care the roles are reversed. Though direct care is not common in insects the males might contribute indirectly by protecting the female after mating as observed in several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Analysis Of Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales Understanding the sources for a particular work is an important task for literary critics, because it ultimately leads to a better understanding and appreciation of the work itself. Sometimes similarities are so weak as to strain the credulity of theories propounding influence. At other times, the ties are so strong that influence is near certain. However, regardless of the strength of such ties, the alterations made to an original source are very potent cues as to authorial intention. In composing The Canterbury Tales, there is a broad diversity of tales told by a wide range of narrators. This indicates that Chaucer likely used a wide variety of sources. The alterations made by Chaucer to the source material for the Clerk s Tale, including Boccaccio s Decameron X, or The Story of Griselda, indicate Chaucer s motive to examine issues such as marriage as was found in Renaissance Italy, and to explore the state of mind of the Marquis, as well as Griselda. Chaucer not only layers psychological depth to Boccaccio s tale, but also adds to its traditional veneration of the obedient and tractable wife a genuine admiration for women in general. Much critical ink has been spilled contesting the power of influence Boccaccio s work in the Decameron had over Chaucer in writing The Canterbury Tales. Indeed, though the two works diverge in both plot and subject, they also possess strong similarities. These convergences have led readers to presume that Chaucer engaged in heavy ... The death of the child resulting from a hit and run car accident. Carver explains to the reader how undeniably humanit is to take our love ones for granted. In the beginning the selfish actions of the baker contributed to the couple s anger and confusion. However, by the end of the story they are left with a sense of optimism and strength.
