Sucker Punch Quotes
An Alice in Wonderland meets machine guns is how Zack Snyder s 2011 film, Sucker Punch can best
be described. The story revolves around the story of a girl named Baby Doll who opens the film and
sets the Ordinary World in Joseph Campbell s Hero s Journey. In the first 10 minutes of the film, the
ordinary world gets explored in which we see the background and receive some knowledge into Baby
Doll s world. Baby Doll s mother passed away which sends her stepfather into a fury after finding that
her mother s last will and testament left everything to her two daughters and nothing for him. In his
fury, the stepfather attempts to assault Baby Doll but realizes that in order to truly get at Baby Doll, he
switches his intentions onto Baby Doll s younger sister. After realizing ... Show more content on

As Dr. Gorsky states, You don t think you re strong enough? You are. You re afraid. Don t be. To me,
that quote states everyone has the capability to fight for what they want, in Sucker Punch s case, it is
freedom. Furthermore, you shouldn t doubt yourself because its in those moments where you have to
prove yourself that you can surprise yourself with how much you can push yourself to succeed.
Additionally, imagination can be an escape from reality if that is what helps you to fight your way
through life, as Baby Doll re imagines the asylum in a different environment and she becomes
stronger when she sees herself as one who can defeat samurai, steampunk Nazi soldiers, orcs with a
dragon, and sci fi robots. You too can imagine yourself as whatever you want to be in order to take on
whatever task that lies before you. You may not realize the power you hold within yourself to live
your own life the way that you want to on your own terms. You are the one who holds the key to set
yourself free and you have all the weapons you need. Now

Simple Distillation Of Methanol And 2-Pentanol
A simple distillation was carried out involving a 30 mL pre mixed solution of methanol and 2 pentanol
in order to separate the two compounds by taking advantage of the differing boiling points. Since
methanol has a lower boiling point at 64.7°C, compared to 2 pentanol s boiling point of 119.3°C, it
distilled off first. Through the use of the apparatus we set up, the solution was heated on a hot plate,
the vapor that came up was cooled by the condenser into a liquid and flowed down into the receiver.
Temperature was recorded for every 2 mL of distillate collected. In addition, three 10 mL distillate
fractions were collected to be analyzed through gas chromatography. The purpose of gas
chromatography analysis was analytical for this specific

The Communication of Window Displays
The Communication of Window Display Armani Exchange
Word count: 1240
Windows reveal the soul of the store (Portas, 1999: 41). Every store has its own concept that
characterizes each display, varying from theatre, drama or in the case of Armani Exchange
minimalism. Well dressed windows are undoubtedly, a dynamic form of advertising for products
reflecting the stores brand image. This essay seeks to evaluate how A|X Armani Exchange s window

However silver and gold details on the garments complement the black shades, making the pieces
more youthful. A downside of open windows is that high priced items showcased can be tampered if
somebody wishes to feel the fabric, so they are trickier to dress. Besides that another negative aspect is
that windows are not as creative since there are fewer props. Hence there is no story to tell. Silhouettes
are simple yet authoritative and influential.
Effective windows can seduce (Portas, 2007: 54) you to purchase something you did not intend to.
Buying even a small item, one satisfies a need, a want to feel more contented and self confident. Also,
what you wear is what defines you, reflecting your personality as implied by Berger (1972). Windows
can sway someone into investing in a garment that will make them enviable and glamorous at the
same time. The power to spent money is the power to live (Berger, 1972: 143), implying that each
person interprets the world differently the same applies in window displays.
Armani Exchange has a very clean approach of less is more by not overloading its windows together
with being strong and simple emphasizing the brand s power (http://ezinearticles.com, 2010).
Furthermore, by following the fresh is best principle in accordance with Berger (1972), they renew
their displays every week thus regular customers find new stock in every visit. Still though, A|X

The Effects Of Tinnitus On The Body Of Life
Introduction
Tinnitus is an ongoing ear noise affected by the build up of wax or medicine that is dangerous in the
ear structures. It also caused by the inner ear cell damage. Once these hairs split in the inner ear, they
leak random electrical impulses to the brain, resulting in tinnitus (Brinson, 2006). These are tiny soft
hair in the inner ear that moves about due to the pressure of sound waves. The hairs activate ear cells
to release electrical signal over the auditory nerve to the brain. Then the brain will convert these
signals into sound, the perception of sound such as ringing in the absence of any external stimulus.
Thus, can distress and affect the person s freedom (Burkey. 2006).
Quality of life
Tinnitus affects the quality of life negatively as it impacts the daily life and influences older people in
a different manner. As a result, many people suffer from emotional problems and depression
(explained later) (Gutierrez, 2012). Tinnitus plays a role in individuals social life since elderlies
become sensitive to certain sounds like ongoing noises and therefore; avoid social situations thus,
approximately 30 million older adults suffer from constant tinnitus (Burkey, 2006). (Gutierrez, 2012).
As a consequence, they get isolated quickly and felt tinnitus is the obstacle to their overall life
(Brinson, 2006). The psychological effect present before the beginning of tinnitus may be significant

Introduction
Gas chromatography is a common separation technique used in analytical chemistry to separate,
identify and quantify the compounds present is a sample (Harris, 2010). The purpose of this
experiment is to analyze a sample of TEX (toluene, ethyl benzene, and o xylene) and identify the
peaks from the resulting chromatogram. Another objective is to familiarize students with the
instrumentation and theory behind the technique and compare isothermal and temperature
programmed runs.
There are two different injection methods for gas chromatography, split and splitless. Split injections
are best used for samples containing high concentrations of analytes. In this injection method, a
fraction of the sample is used and the rest is discarded. The complete injection would contain too
much analyte, overload the column, and produce inaccurate results. A splitless injection is used for
very dilute solutions. Approximately 80% of the sample is applied to the column and the gas is
analyzed by slowly raising the temperature of the column to vaporize the solvent at the head of the
column. This method cannot be used for isothermal chromatography (Harris, 2010).
Gas chromatography is similar to other chromatography methods in the sense that it has both a
stationary and mobile phase. The mobile phase consists of an inert gas,

Don Giovanni Essay
Produced by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1787, Don Giovanni is regarded as one the best operas
ever made. The piece is based on the legend of Don Juan, an illusory libertine and seducer of women
(Kerns, 2010). At first, Mozart s opera seems more like a story of the romantic adventures of a
dissolute nobleman and his disgrace. However, there is much more to Don Giovanni than just a series
of events and serious laughs, just as the protagonist is much more than a notorious, single minded, and
unprincipled seducer. Closer examination of the piece reveals its core themes of social classes and
divisions as depicted by Leporello s complaints about his servitude to his employer in the first scene
(Mozart, Fisher, Ponte, 2007). The play also touches on vital human traits and principles, including
loyalty, faithfulness, and sincerity. More importantly, Don Giovanni centers on the ambiguity intrinsic
to human relations, the intricate connection between life and death, and the interminable tension
between love and the risk of its extermination.
Don Giovanni can be characterized as a comic opera due to its indulgence with tragic themes, such as
crime and murder, in an astoundingly funny manner. By definition, an opera is an art form in which
the composers combine dramatic works with musical scores and libretto or text in theatrical settings.
The singing may be either melodic or recitative. Traditionally, operas incorporate most of the typical
elements of spoken theatre, including

Meaning And Definition Of Ledger By J. R. Batliboi
Meaning and Definition of Ledger
According to J.R. Batliboi , The ledger is the chief of accounts and it is in this book that all the
business transactions would ultimately find their place under their accounts in a duly classified form.
A Ledger should be kept in the form of bound register, or in the form of cards or in punched sheets or
it can be in the form of loose leaf binder. Every account in the ledger is opened preferably or it can be
in a separate page or card
These all business transactions are first recorded in Journal or Special Purpose Subsidiary Books. The
next step is to transfer the entries to the respective accounts in Ledger. In other words this shows that
all the entries are recorded in Journal or Special Purpose Subsidiary ... Show more content on

All transactions relating to an account should be entered at one place. In others words, two separate
accounts should not be opened for posting transactions relating to the same account. If there are two
customers with similar names, say the Account of Anil (of Karol Bagh) and the Account of Anil (of
Chandni Chowk).
2. The word To is used before the accounts which appear on the debit side of an account. Similarly, the
word By is used before the accounts which appear on the credit side of an account.
3. If an account has been debited in the journal entry, the posting in the Ledger should also be made on
the debit side of such account. In the particular column, the name of the other account which has been
credited in the Journal entry should be written for reference.
4. If an account has been credited in the Journal entry, the posting in the Ledger should also be made

Gender Bias In The Workplace
Sexism women still face gender bias in the workplace. The stereotype e.g. women more likely to take
a housekeeping job, secretarial tasks or even be look at taking notes at a college meeting. Ageism it s
been known that because of a person age, he/she been discriminated against for job advancement.
Race refers to the practice of treating people differently because of the race. I have personally heard
on my past job that the manager is looking to hire a Caucasian person, yes this still exists in toady
time. Discrimination will always be a around it will take a miracle for this to come to an end not only
within the workplace.
Problems
The problem with feminist theory is gender free morality may be impossible. In today era, many
people don t agree that women should have equal pay as men within the work place. Even though laws
have been passed to equal pay, however when it comes to equal pay a lot of company still don t
comply with this ruling.
Model
The feminist model is described as conflict resolution. Feminist model aims to resolve inequality on
multiple levels of existence. In addition, feminist model of conflict determination identifies sources of
conflict as results of oppression prolonged by dominant. e.g. if a male and a female walk over to the
automotive service department to get their car work on, and the worker come out and automatic
address the male with the question, how may I help you , the worker is looking at the male as the
dominant person.

I Have A Dream Speech Outline
I Have a Dream was a pivotal speech delivered by the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. on August 28,
1963. 250,000 civil rights supporters attended the March on Washington where the speech was
delivered at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. The peaceful demonstration was organized at the heels
of President Kennedy s proposal of civil rights legislation earlier in June 1963. Since 1960, Dr. King
had presented several different versions of his Dream speech, but his delivery of the speech that day
would be the last version and subsequently became copyrighted material. I Have a Dream was
delivered 100 years after the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. Dr. King s belief was African

King was violently targeted over his pursue of civil rights which spanned from 1955 until he was
assassinated in 1968. Some of the civil rights accomplishments since August 28, 1963, are the passage
of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or
national origin; the Voting Act of 1965 that prohibited unequal application of voter registration
requirements; the Fair Housing Act of 1968; and ending racial segregation in schools, employment,
and public accommodations. He was voted Time s Man of the Year in 1963 and received the Nobel

The Decision Struck Down A Statute
In 1976, by a 7 2 decision, the Court adopted an intermediate level of review for gender classifications
in the case Craig v. Boren. The decision struck down a statute that allowed women over the age of
eighteen to purchase beer but only men over the age of twenty one. Using this intermediate scrutiny,
the Court has invalidated gender segregation across the board. However, while this heightened level of
scrutiny has drastically helped women, it has not been equal in its effect on men. Since Craig, the
Court has upheld a requirement that only men register for the draft (Rostker v. Goldberg) and a
statutory rape law where only adult men were punished for having sex with an underage individual of
the opposite sex (Michael M. v. Superior Court). While these cases occurred in the 80s, this trend of
favoring women over men in gender discrimination cases has continued, especially in regards to
administrative law and protection. Recent Supreme Court cases reveal that men are still being
unfavorably ruled against over women, leading one to believe a push for strict scrutiny is key in
bridging that gap and implementing a federal statute that all States must obey in order to ensure
gender equality is achieved on both sides of the spectrum.
Beginning in the 70s, even before the decision of Craig, one is able to notice a trend of men seeming
to fail where women have strived in court. A notable case is Frontiero v. Richardson which involved a
lieutenant of the United States Air Force

Erik Erikson s Theory Of Development
Susan is a sixty seven year old woman. She worked in human resources for a significant portion of her
life, however, in her later middle adult life decided to return to school to study to be a registered nurse
(RN). This was tough for Susan considering she was a mother of five her eldest being in her late
twenties and her youngest in elementary school. When asked to reminisce over her life, Susan had
numerous interesting stories from her life and shared much wisdom. If one analyzes Susan s lifespan

conflict at each life stage. Before analyzing Susan s life, when one looks closely at Erik Erikson s
theory, there are eight stages of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this developmental stage adults face generativity versus stagnation. In the last developmental stage,
late adulthood, people encounter an integrity versus despair crisis (Coon Mitterer, 2015, p. 123 126).
In addition, each stage has a virtue that is accomplished after the crisis has been resolved. This was
just an overview to Erikson s developmental theory, however, it greatly assists the analyzation of
Susan s life. To begin, this paper will not examine at the trust versus mistrust stage considering Susan
cannot recollect being an infant. Therefore, beginning at the early childhood stage, Susan felt
extremely self sufficient compared to her younger siblings; she remembers having bathroom accidents
and incidents of bed wetting. Nevertheless, she remembers seeking her mother out and asking for
assistance in the cleanup. Therefore, Susan clearly achieved autonomy over shame and doubt. The
virtue earned here was will she was willing to seek support and admit wrongdoing. The subsequent
stage is the middle childhood stage; this age is characterized by children being playful and
commencement school. At this period, the crisis is initiative versus guilt. Susan showed initiative and
made exceptional grades in preschool and elementary school and as stated previously she showed
early signs of mastering appropriate times to be guilty. She was ambitious and determined to do
outstanding in school and was remorseful when she did

Kendra Randall Jolivet s Study
Kendra Randall Jolivet s study was a study that involved the impact that divorce has on teenagers
from the ages of thirteen to eighteen. Today divorce is looked at as another chance to happiness.
During the 1950s, divorce was based on what a spouse did wrong. The spouse had to prove the other
spouse of being guilty of committing a marital offense. There was a strong belief at the time that
children from broken homes were at the risk of school failure, delinquency, and psychological
disorders (Jolivet, 2009). As divorce has become more common,
THE WAY DIVORCE IMPACTS CHILDREN 5 legislation changed and decided that the spouse no

without your mom or dad in the picture changes your whole outlook on life. Researchers found that

their child updated on things that are going on in the house, this could make the child feel like they are

Midwest Quarterly, vol. 11, no. 4, 1970, pp. 443 456. Bort, in his essay Winesburg, Ohio: The Escape
from Isolation, briefly examines the characters in many of the short stories included in Winesburg as
they fail to both understand each other and to connect with other members of the town. Working
chronologically, Bort specifically mentions: The Book of the Grotesques, Hands, Paper Pills,
Godliness, Adventure, and Tandy pointing to their contribution to the major themes of Winesburg,
Ohio. He begins his analysis comparing Hands and Paper Pills as he asserts that their relationship is
central to Anderson s message. He applies each example to this pair of stories with opposing
representations of isolation, and in the end, relates the structure and content of the collection of stories
to his conclusion about the true nature of the book being the description of what Anderson calls
significant moments. Bort s essay is made up largely of summaries of each story, and though this may
be effective in illustrating his argument, the amount of quotation used is excessive to one who has read
the collection beforehand. Additionally, Bort provides several examples of his points to the point of

The Importance Of Electronic Mass Communication
Web 2.0 environments stand to have a profound impact on social practices (Bruns, 2013, page 117)
iPhones have a way of removing people from conversations that they may be physically present for.
Again, the phone pulls people away from their surroundings, so while they are physically there in a
room full of people, mentally they are not. They are disengaged from the real conversation, wrapped
up in the virtual discussions taking place on the phone. One quote from George Lipsitz in his article
Popular Culture that I think works well here is the powerful apparatuses of contemporary commercial
electronic mass communications dominate the discourse in the modern world. (Lipsitz, 2013, page 46)
The iPhone has changed the way in which people communicate with each other, the things we choose
to speak about, and the way in which we discuss such topics.
I frequently get frustrated with my roommate when he uses his iPhone, as do many of his friends. The
phone sucks him in, he becomes intrigued with the apps on his phone, scrolling through social media
and non stop texting. His family regularly facetimes him, usually at the most inconvenient times like
while in the car, during a movie, or at the grocery store. I have found that sometimes I think I am
having a conversation with him and realize he is not heard a single word I have said because he is too
zoned into his phone. If you ask him a question while he is using his phone, he usually will answer 5
minutes later, if at all, but

Composting, It s Gross
Composting, it s gross, it s stinky, and it can be downright atrocious, right? Wrong! Well, partly.
Composting can be gross sometimes with food and other weird things decaying, but the advantages
outweigh the risks don t they? Good soils that can help gardens, trees, and plants are worth having a
little stink. Many people think composting is hard, though it can be easier with the right equipment,
the right c:n ratio, and the right boosts that will help kick start your pile.
Compost bins have many different flavors or types. Some include tumblers (or revolving drums), orbs,
and cylinders. Tumblers and orbs are types of compost bins that helps turn your compost easier.
Revolving drums are normally on rollers or can be hand cranked. They are made to spin easier, and
are regularly enclosed. They also can be vertical to turn over, or horizontal to be rolled like a barrel.
Orbs are bins that are octanal shaped or round. Orbs are very similar to revolving drums, but are rolled
on the ground to mix the compost. Some even have numbers that can help you remember when you
last turned it.6 Cylinders are simple designs that are useful, and can be easy to move. Cylinders can be
open or closed. Open cylinders have no top or bottom, but has something of a wall around it. These
can be easily moved and mixed. Closed cylinders are commonly made of a thick plastic, and
contradicting the open cylinder has a top and bottom. They have ventilation and near the bottom there

Christians Should Study Greek Philosophy
Throughout the history of Christianity, there have been many different ideas on how a Christian
should interact with the world in which they lived. From the biblical writings of The Gospel according
to Matthew, and The Acts of the Apostles, to the non biblical writings of On Philosophy, and The
Prescription Against Heretics, the ideas of Christianity were brought together. The two non biblical
documents highlight the arguments of whether or not Christians should study Greek philosophy. The
books from The Bible showed that Christian beliefs focused on how one should primarily seek their
ultimate reward or satisfaction in the Kingdom of God (spiritual), rather than in the here and now
(temporal). Christianity, as it began, was a faith that emphasized the importance of acting charitable
towards the less fortunate, while understanding that it was ones duty to worship God and spread that
love for Him to those who didn t believe. In the Gospel According to Matthew, Jesus said, Blessed are
the poor, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. When Jesus said this, he showed how the Kingdom of
Heaven was welcomed for anybody, not only those who were more fortunate than others. Jesus then
went on to explain how those who were humble and those who showed righteousness would enter the
Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus also told the people how they should spread his word everywhere and
teach those to examine all the things He commanded them. In The Great Commission speech, Jesus

A white picket fence surrounds the tangible icons of the American Dreams in the middle 1900 s: a
mortgage, an automobile, a kitchen appliance paid for on the monthly installment plan, and a silver
trophy representative of high school football triumph. A pathetic tale examining the consequences of
man s harmartias, Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman satisfies many, but not all, of the essential
elements of a tragedy. Reality peels away the thin layers of Willy Loman s American Dream; a dream
built on a lifetime of poor choices and false values.
Although the characters are not of noble birth nor possess a heroic nature nor experience a reversal of

For Biff, the idea of success is an easy loan from an ex employer he has stolen from; for Hap, success
is obtaining a promotion by waiting for the merchandise manager to die. Inevitably, the Loman s
unrealistic idea about success is one of the steps in their downfall.
Equally as damaging, the Loman family lacks the ability to make the necessary and suitable choices to
pursue the American Dream. Although Willy is skillful with his hands and believes a man who can t
handle tools is disgusting, he chooses a lifetime career as a salesman, based on the fanciful image of
his father who abandoned Willy as a child and on the image of an 84 year old salesman who dies alone
in a train car to Boston. Willy takes pride in the craftsmanship he put into their house, yet believes a
salesman such as his father is better than a carpenter. Furthermore, he questions the purpose of
building because some stranger ll come along, move in, and that s that. Ironically, Willy is a better
carpenter than a salesman. He boasts on what an impact he makes on his clients, but in reality one of
the reasons he has a sexual rendezvous with a secretary is to get through to the buyers. Willy makes
another poor choice because of his hubris, or false pride, when he turns down Charley s job offer.
Similarly, false pride and the inability to make appropriate choices lead to Hap and Biff choosing
unsuitable occupations.

The Hatter Quotes
The Hatter is a poor man. He makes various personal remarks, and asks many riddles that have no
answers. He wears a large top hat with 10/6 on the side, a checkered suit, and a polka dot bow tie. The
Cheshire cat describes him as mad. He can always be found having a tea party with the March Hare.
There is never time to wash their dishes between whiles so there is an abundances of tea accessories

Jim Jones and Tthe People s Temple
Jim Jones and the People s Temple Reverend Jim Jones was the charismatic leader of the Peoples
Temple, a religious organization that hit its stride in the mid 1970s. Jones and his Temple are best
known for the mass murder/suicide that was executed Guyana in 1978. Over 900 people drank
cyanide laced Kool Aid at Jones command, an action that Jones referred to as revolutionary suicide
protesting the conditions of an inhumane world (Stept). Someone watching Jones at work gathering
followers for the Temple and spreading the Temple s vision would never have been able to envision
the ultimate end of Jones reign. In the early 1970s, Jones was working on changing the world. His
goal was simple; he believed in equality for all. However ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jones consistency in his vision and dedication to Jonestown were his biggest strength in his
management of trust. His followers were able to trust him because of his unwavering belief in his
vision and opinions. Jones also always had strong management of self. In his youth, he discovered his
natural speaking skill and his ability to manipulate. Over time, he worked toward developing these
talents and used them extensively to spread his vision. He knew his talents so well that he was even
able to choose his most efficient medium, religion, through which to push his vision. He was attracted
to organized religion mostly because it was a place where he could use his excellent oratory skills and
ability to coerce people into doing what he wanted them to, and therefore served as the best vehicle for
his goal of social change (Wikipedia). Out of Bennis ten competencies of dynamic leaders, Jim Jones
strongly exhibits four. The trait of self knowledge and the competency of management of self are
defined almost identically, so the previously discussed qualities that give him strong self management
are the same qualities that exemplify his strong self knowledge. Jones was also a risk taker, which is
obvious is almost every serious decision he ever made. He created what was essentially a brand new
branch of religion. He rented 4000 acres of land in Guyana with the goal that people would choose to

Gene Patenting Research Paper

Introduction A patent is a right, a monopoly of limited duration, in most cases it is for 20 years. It is a
right that prohibits other persons from making, using, selling or importing an invention. An invention
is one thing, a way of doing something, which is new, useful, and which does not already exist in
nature in the same form. There are several types of patent, but the one we are interested in is the
biological patent, which is a patent on an invention in the field of biology that allows the patent holder
to prevent others from making it from using it, selling it or importing it. The regulation of biological
patents varies from country to country and may include biological technologies and products.
Genetically modified organisms and genetic material. The patents of each country are valid only for
that country. Thus, a Canadian patent is only valid in Canada and has no application in Germany and
may contain specific rights, different from German patents. Each country grants its own patents, but
there are several broad principles that are common to all patent systems. A set of international
agreements establishes certain general standards that apply to patents; such as the duration of the
monopoly, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Sentimentality Of William Tavener Passage Analysis
The passage, The Sentimentality of William Tavener are chronologically ordered. Since the author
choose to write this short story in the order in which it happened it helps the flow of the passage.
Because this story started as it was happening you have to figure out what the conflict in the story is;
this intrigues the reader by peeking their curiosity into what that conflict may be. In the passage it
opens with Hester slightly persuading her husband s seemingly stubborn attitude. She states, William,

Examples Of Manipulation In King Lear
Rationale
Humans are easily manipulated creatures. The inability to understand, perceive and interpret things
with clarity can be seen as a very dangerous flaw in the design of human beings, as this shortcoming
may lead to the demise of an individual or even a group of people. The manner in which vision and
perception of certain characters in Shakespeare s play King Lear is obscured, is a testament of just
that. Through very unique literal and figurative writing, Shakespeare clearly demonstrates to the
audience or reader just how easily deceived human beings can be. A perfect example of this revelation
is the character, the Earl of Gloucester, who is the helpless victim of conniving manipulation, cleverly
conducted by his illegitimate son, Edmund. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

this is Gloucester s routine introduction of Edmund to anyone who might want to know the identity of

a plan which sees him rise to power. This is a clear example of Gloucester s inability to realise that by
continuously mocking and devaluing Edmund as a person, he has brewed a strong resentment and hate
within Edmund. In a series of tragic events which unfold successively, Gloucester is made to believe
by Edmund that his legitimate son, Edgar, is concocting a plan to kill the Earl. Credulous as he is, the
Earl blatantly believes Edmund s fabricated story. This is a very clear figurative example of the

Extreme wrestling was not your typical wrestling match in which the gladiators would exchange

replaced the generic moves with high impact moves, steel chairs, barbed wire, wooden tables, and

This new type of wrestling has been criticized as being just as dangerous to an athlete s health as

Polis. The name probably didn t have quite the impact as its parent word metropolis , but the parent
word was cumbersome and, as people are wont to do, prone to shortening. The parent word may have
better conveyed the city s size and scope and industry...or maybe not. Perhaps that was why the word
was changed over time: as the city grew and grew, the word metropolis seemed to become more and
more inadequate. And Mega City One was just lame. In the aftermath of the Final War (as people
called it, when referring to the conflict that gave rise to Polis), things changed. Gradually, at first, as
those leaders that were perceived to have failed were replaced sometimes violently by people who
genuinely seemed to care about the population s needs and concerns. The country was slowly
transformed, town by ruined town, city by devastated city, state by crippled state. Those who d
survived were often eager for a leadership that would give them the direction they wanted, that put the
people first, that put the needs of society ahead of the needs of self. It was not socialism, as that was
one of the driving forces that had led to the Final War in the first place; nor was it capitalism, as that
had been another driving force of the War instead, a curious blend of social conservatism rose to fill
the void, and it was embraced by the survivors. As months became years, and years became decades,

In the beginning of this film, it appears these men were struggling to be truthful and honest. They
were making sure it was a safe place to do so. They all came to discuss their experiences and learn
from other men s experiences. As the film went on I was impressed by their ability to continue to talk
about the hard topics related to racism in our country. They all took many risks to explain their
experience and question when other members thoughts were inaccurate within the group setting. After
watching the rest of the color of fear I have seen a big change in everyone in the group, especially
David Christensen.
I believe that this film as a whole is so powerful and looks at many different perspectives of how
racism and oppression can affect everyone around us. As I mentioned before we all experience
privileges and oppression, but everyone experiences these in different ways as we learned when
reading about the addressing model. By the end of this documentary, we saw so many different types
of oppressions related to within group and between group differences. They were powerful messages
because they explained how both concepts influenced and allowed the cycle of oppression to continue
in our society.
The take home message I received is that racism and prejudice will not stop from having a few
discussions, but this can help to us as a society and as counselors to become more aware of these
concepts.

Another imbalance that often causes biological depression is amine imbalance. Amines are the
neurotransmitters that float in the synapse between two nerve cells in the brain (Smith 3). The key
amines are serotonin and norepinephrine. When there is a decrease in the levels of these
neurotransmitters, depression often occurs. Biological depression is as common among Christians just
as it is common among the general population. However, it often goes undiagnosed due to dissenting
views held by many Christians regarding the causes of depression. Many in the church believe
depression is just all in the head. They believe it should be easily cured with a bible verse and slapping
on a smile. In most cases, it is just all in the head. Although for someone with biological depression, a
cure does not always come so simply. Many Christians adhere to beliefs regarding depression such as:
1. Depression is always the result of unconfessed sin.
2. Depression is always the result of lack of faith in God.
3. Depression can always be removed by spiritual exercises such as prayer and fasting.
4. Depression can be removed by making a choice to be happy (Smith 5).
It is crucial for pastors to realize that sometimes a depressed person is suffering from an actual
medical imbalance and needs to be treated as such. It is abundantly clear from current research that
certain kinds of depression have important biological roots and can be substantially relieved

The accumulation of belly fat is far more than an aesthetic issue. There are a number of health risks
that are directly associated with the accumulation of belly fat. According to the Centers for Disease

population qualifying as obese. To exacerbate the matter, the obesity rate among minors is at 17

Hidden Health Risks
According to WebMD, the fact that visceral fat originates in the orifices within the body, the absence
of a substantial amount of visible fat can give a person a false sense of security as far as their health is
concerned. What makes this even scarier is the fact that by the time a person recognizes that they have
belly fat, it will have been accumulating for some time.
Assessing the risk is actually rather simple. Even if belly fat is not visible, its presence will cause the
waist to expand. Health experts suggest that the easiest method for assessing risk is to use a tape
measure to measure the waist the larger the number the greater the risk. For women, a waist measure
of 35 inches or more is cause for concern, while a 40 inch waist for men should send up a red flag.
In addition to heart disease and insulin resistance, the existence of visceral or belly fat include a higher
risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, colorectal cancer and sleep

Primarily, User Access Control or UAC systems are combinations of identification, authentication,

Within the UAC system, the system administrator designates users rights and accesses which helps

The Adolescent Stage Essay
The adolescent stage is one in which the human being develops from being a child into an adult, or
from puberty to legal adulthood. The stage consists of the transition in both the physical and the
psychological contexts ( Adolescence | Psychology Today , 2016). The transaction of the adolescent is
the relationship between the environments and the person (Bosma Kunnen, 2001). This interaction
influences the adolescents development as they are in the stage of their lives whereby the trying to

development to emerge into adulthood there are many identity statuses one must go through in order
to achieve a sucessful development (Waterman, 1999). These identity statuses are influenced by the
psychosocial enviornment of the person and these are represented in identity processes (Bosma

Observation Of Wild African Elephants
Wild African elephants may break sleep records for mammals. New data show that they seem to get

standing up. The animals lie down to sleep only once every three to four nights. Trying to figure out
how much wild elephants sleep just by watching them 24 hours a day is tricky, especially in the dark.
Much of what scientists had known about sleeping elephants came from animals living in captivity,
notes Paul Manger. He is a neuroscientist, or brain researcher, at the University of the Witwatersrand
in Johannesburg, South Africa. In zoos and enclosures, elephants have been recorded snoozing from

The new data seem to now confirm they were right. Manger and his team shared their findings March
1 in PLOS ONE. What they learned Manger and his colleagues implanted activity monitors (similar to
Fitbit trackers) in the trunks of two elephants. Both were matriarchs (female leaders) of their herds in
the Chobe National Park. It lies in northern Botswana, a nation in southern Africa. The trunk on these
animals is 250 pounds of muscle, Manger says. That s why, he says, these moms would hardly have
noticed the small tracker implants. Trunks, like human hands, are important for exploring the world.
Elephants rarely keep them still unless sleeping. The researchers assumed that a trunk monitor that
didn t move for at least five minutes likely meant its host was asleep. Neck collars helped researchers
figure out whether animals were standing up or lying down. The electronic devices tracked the
animals over about a month. During that time, the elephants averaged just two hours of sleep a day.

A rule utilitarian, on the other hand, begins by looking at potential rules of action. To determine
whether a rule should be followed, he looks at what would happen if it were constantly followed. If
adherence to the rule produces more happiness than otherwise, it is a rule that morally must be
followed at all times. The distinction between act and rule utilitarianism is therefore based on a
difference about the proper object of consequentialist calculation: individual actions or rules?

Women s Influence On Society
In the Later Middle Ages in Europe, power was one of the main drives on society. The limited amount
of people who had power in society gained it through religious or governmental affiliation. Since the
church and the christian faith was the main aspect of, generally, everyone s lives during that time,
those who held religious powers played important roles in society. However, power was not even
among the different genders of society. In a male dominated society, women scarcely could have
power in society. Women could primary receive power through some type of religious affiliation, but
could not hold powers in the government. Nonetheless, they were able to influence society through the
little power that they did have. Their power derived from the prestige of being a religious leader.
Nonetheless, the little power women had was often questioned by men. Source documents 11 5, 11 6,
and 12 5 explore women in society during these times. Although similar in being in the time period of
the middle ages, each document also has characteristic differences about women during that time. In
her Letter to Gregory XI, Catherine of Siena uses her status as a nun to influence the main political
and religious issue of that time. She wrote to Pope Gregory XI urging him to relocate the religious
capital from Avignon back to its original location in Rome. Previously, Pope Clement V had relocated

Meanwhile Colt s mother Sarah Colt passed when he was just six years old. His father remarried two
years later and overall there would be six siblings in the Colt family. Despite being part of a big family
Samuel Colt was destined to become successful and stand out above his other siblings. Colt began to
engineer when he was very young. This was because his father had a silk mill factory in
Massachusetts. His father Christopher trained ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of Colt s inventions and his company s contributions to the Nation the Union Army managed
to have advanced revolvers during the war. Overall Its output for the entire Civil War period totaled
378,000 revolvers and 114,000 muskets (Grant, 1982). The role that his company played in producing
firearms for the Union Army placed Colt as a historic figure in American history. Today Samuel Colt
is looked at as the man who revolutionized the firearm industry and the man who created the first
mass producing firearms company in the world. He was recently honored in 2006 as he was inducted
into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
With manufacturing moving overseas in the past several decades and America currently having a trade
deficit it would be difficult for Hartford to redevelop itself as one of the most important manufacturing
cities in America. On the contrary, Hartford can use its past to place itself as one of the most important
manufacturing cities in America. For instance, it can argue the fact that Colt came up with the idea of
mass production and started running his business out of Hartford, that it was the city of Hartford who
was the first to place itself as an industrial city in America. As the United States also faces challenges
in regaining some of its success in the past back in manufacturing, it must end the habit of companies
shipping all of the manufacturing jobs overseas and restore the

Bend It Like Beckham Analysis
Bend It Like Beckham , directed by Gurinder Chadha is a 2002 comedic sports film, based in London,
England. The plot follows an athletic 18 year old girl; Jesminder Bhamra and her strict parents who
detest Jess passion and love for playing soccer as it refutes their family s Indian Sikh religious morals.
Jess feels a lot of pressure and guilt throughout the film as she is ultimately betraying her family, yet
everyone in her team supports her, including the coach, Joe who tries to convince Jess that her parents
don t always know what s best for her. In every family, there is often a distinct line between what a
person wants to do and achieve, compared to what their parents and family members expect of them.
This cliché can be easily applied to many of the characters including Tony Jess best pal, Juliet Paxton
the player who suggested Jess joined the local team and Jess with their conflicts between their
families. Aside from being the main character in the film, Jesminder suffers the worst conflict between
her parents and family, throughout the entire storyline. Despite her parent s wishes and concerns
towards Jess passion, she makes the decision to secretively continue to spend hours in the local park
playing with other passionate male players whenever she could spare the time. This soon brought on
an offer from a player from the local soccer team, who was amazed by Jess skills, and she soon joined
the team, all without her parent s knowing. As mentioned earlier,

San Diego Marketing Campaign Essay
In the homework assignment last week, I took on the marketing campaign for a Mechanics shop in
San Diego area. The majority of these advertisement will be done on buses and locals channels to
reduce cost, since we are not nation wide in stores so we would just promote in areas that would be the
least out of pocket for the company. Locally we would also like customers to advertise through mouth
to mouth, that s the main way we should get customers. Express Tire is a pride of the locals, we ve
been around and throughout the San Diego County and as well as the neighboring county all the way
to Hemet. Working in and around San Diego in the morning most people would listen to the radio, and
the most channels they would listen to are 93.3, 94.1, 95.6 are the frequent visits of ... Show more

Most of the time we could used those as our main attack to get the word out there, and not good deals
put the brand image out there so customers would have an impression on our company as an image
that goes hand in hand with the image of San Diego county. Apple, Google, Adidas and many others.
Even advertisements related to a brand try to build a strong image of the brand to get across the brand
can be trusted and hence people can rely on them. A branded product that has an encouraging
reputation and image saves a consumer s time and energy. As the brand is an established one, the
clients are sure that, the products have already been tested and approved and now the company will
provide them the best possible service and merchandise. (Bhasin, 2016) These are great examples of
the brand image we want people to see and how they can get us or retains our customers. Interview or
statements of eloquence, is great to paraphrase as part of the advertisement campaign. Further more
during the promotional sales every quarter we have to put the word out there more like in radio and

Richard Nixon s Involvement In The Watergate Scandal
On August 9, 1974, Richard Nixon resigned from his post as President of the United States of America
in ignominy. His resignation was prompted by mounting accusations of his involvement in the
Watergate scandal, perhaps the biggest scandal the country has ever seen. The Watergate scandal was a
series of events started by the break in to the Democratic Party headquarters by members connected to
the Nixon campaign with the orders to steal confidential plans. President Gerald Ford later issued a
presidential pardon, but many Americans could not forgive Nixon for his involvement. The Watergate
Scandal distracted the history books from one of the most productive presidencies in history.

Nixon s accomplishments in domestic affairs still have a positive effect today. The tensions of racism
were calmed with the desegregation of schools. Women gained more rights and respect. Ultimately,
these domestic programs may be remembered longer than his currently better known activities in the
realm of foreign policy, and they may even minimize his negative Watergate image. In any case, they
represent the most positive characteristics of the Nixon phenomenon. In fact, the Age of Nixon that
would end in the denouement of disgrace, actually reached its climax in the area of domestic reform
(Hoff 144).
His actions overseas also changed the world for the better. He effectively ended the Vietnam War,
calmed the tensions with the Soviets during the Cold War, and avoided a second Cuban Missile

Essay on The American Hero
The American Hero
Every child has fantasy s of being a super hero and leaping tall buildings in a single bound or staring
death in the face everyday and somehow finding a way to escape. All of these imaginative thoughts
have been derived from the past literary works by the great writers of the early American literary
period. These early writers entered society into a world of action and adventure, where one can see
spectacular events unfolding through the eyes of a notorious man of courage and feel as though they
are defending there country or saving the woman they love. Though the modern heroes are much more
popular than classic American heroes, the modern hero has rooted from these same literary works ...

In The Deerslayer, Natty is seen as and idealized youth. Natty is later seen wondering through the
forest and lonely waters and is confronted by hunters, Indians, and the hostile Europeans ; (Groliers
NP). This is an example of Natty encountering physical danger. This wilderness scout is the first of his
kind in American literature and was seen nowhere before by the American readers. This novel allowed
the readers to enter a world where they could relive the Revolutionary War, Indian wars, and battles on
the frontier.
After The Deer Slayer, Natty Bumppo is seen in The Last of the Mohicans. In this novel, Natty is
called Hawkeye because of his ties to the Mohicans. Indians of this time were looked upon as savages,
but Natty has taken unto himself the best of both civilization and so called savagery ; (Cliff Notes 11).
Because he made peace with the Indians, he had a mysterious and dangerous quality in the eyes of the
reader. In this novel Natty has many close native companions to join him in his endeavors on the
frontier.
During the French and Indian Wars, The Legendary woodsman, Natty Bumppo, is know by another
famous alias s, The Pathfinder. His companions in this story is his adoptive Indian father,
Chingachgook and the beautiful, Mabel Dunham. They become involved in an attempt to rescue a

Summary Of The Yellow Wall-Paper
To be effective means to be successful in producing a desired or intended result. According to
Aristotle, the most effective way to construct the plot of a story is to have a clear beginning, middle,
and end with certain aspects included between each major part to form a complex plot. In the short
story The Yellow Wall Paper , the author, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, follows Aristotle s schema for
constructing an effective plot by drawing the readers emotionally to the characters; including reversal,
recognition, and suffering; and having a complex plot. Charlotte Perkins Gilman emotionally draws
readers to the characters in The Yellow Wall Paper. The unnamed protagonist of the story persuades
readers to pity and empathize with her from the beginning of the story when she talks about her
husband/physician, John, and her depression. She talks about how John is helping her by putting her
on rest cure and keeping her locked in a room with no stimulation from the outside world when she
says, I get unreasonably angry with John sometimes. I m not sure I never used to be so sensitive. I
think it is due to this nervous condition (Gilman 315). When she describes her husband and blames
her sensitivity on her condition, it is hard to read because everyone else can see that she should be
angry with John and he is the main reason that she is in the mental state that she is in. What she
characterized as help from her husband is clearly seen by the audience as harmful and

Simple Distillation Of Methanol And 2-Pentanol A simple distillation was carried out involving a 30 mL pre mixed solution of methanol and 2 pentanol in order to separate the two compounds by taking advantage of the differing boiling points. Since methanol has a lower boiling point at 64.7°C, compared to 2 pentanol s boiling point of 119.3°C, it distilled off first. Through the use of the apparatus we set up, the solution was heated on a hot plate, the vapor that came up was cooled by the condenser into a liquid and flowed down into the receiver. Temperature was recorded for every 2 mL of distillate collected. In addition, three 10 mL distillate fractions were collected to be analyzed through gas chromatography. A downside of open windows is that high priced items showcased can be tampered if somebody wishes to feel the fabric, so they are trickier to dress. Besides that another negative aspect is that windows are not as creative since there are fewer props. Hence there is no story to tell. Silhouettes are simple yet authoritative and influential. Effective windows can seduce (Portas, 2007: 54) you to purchase something you did not intend to. Buying even a small item, one satisfies a need, a want to feel more contented and self confident. Also, what you wear is what defines you, reflecting your personality as implied by Berger (1972). Windows can sway someone into investing in a garment that will make them enviable and glamorous at the same time. The power to spent money is the power to live (Berger, 1972: 143), implying that each person interprets the world differently the same applies in window displays. • 6. The Effects Of Tinnitus On The Body Of Life Introduction Tinnitus is an ongoing ear noise affected by the build up of wax or medicine that is dangerous in the ear structures. It also caused by the inner ear cell damage. Once these hairs split in the inner ear, they leak random electrical impulses to the brain, resulting in tinnitus (Brinson, 2006). These are tiny soft hair in the inner ear that moves about due to the pressure of sound waves. The hairs activate ear cells to release electrical signal over the auditory nerve to the brain. Then the brain will convert these signals into sound, the perception of sound such as ringing in the absence of any external stimulus. Thus, can distress and affect the person s freedom (Burkey. 2006). Quality of life Tinnitus affects the quality of life negatively as it impacts the daily life and influences older people in a different manner. As a result, many people suffer from emotional problems and depression (explained later) (Gutierrez, 2012). Tinnitus plays a role in individuals social life since elderlies become sensitive to certain sounds like ongoing noises and therefore; avoid social situations thus, approximately 30 million older adults suffer from constant tinnitus (Burkey, 2006). Introduction to Gas Chromatography Jeffrey Palumbo ID: 20523300 Chem 224L Section 003 Partner: Victor Łotocki Date of Experiment: June 17, 2015 Introduction Gas chromatography is a common separation technique used in analytical chemistry to separate, identify and quantify the compounds present is a sample (Harris, 2010). The purpose of this experiment is to analyze a sample of TEX (toluene, ethyl benzene, and o xylene) and identify the peaks from the resulting chromatogram. Another objective is to familiarize students with the instrumentation and theory behind the technique and compare isothermal and temperature programmed runs. There are two different injection methods for gas chromatography, split and splitless. Split injections are best used for samples containing high concentrations of analytes. In this injection method, a fraction of the sample is used and the rest is discarded. The complete injection would contain too much analyte, overload the column, and produce inaccurate results. A splitless injection is used for very dilute solutions. Approximately 80% of the sample is applied to the column and the gas is analyzed by slowly raising the temperature of the column to vaporize the solvent at the head of the column. This method cannot be used for isothermal chromatography (Harris, 2010). Gas chromatography is similar to other chromatography methods in the sense that it has both a stationary and mobile phase. The mobile phase consists of an inert gas, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Don Giovanni Essay Produced by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1787, Don Giovanni is regarded as one the best operas ever made. The piece is based on the legend of Don Juan, an illusory libertine and seducer of women (Kerns, 2010). At first, Mozart s opera seems more like a story of the romantic adventures of a dissolute nobleman and his disgrace. However, there is much more to Don Giovanni than just a series of events and serious laughs, just as the protagonist is much more than a notorious, single minded, and unprincipled seducer. Closer examination of the piece reveals its core themes of social classes and divisions as depicted by Leporello s complaints about his servitude to his employer in the first scene (Mozart, Fisher, Ponte, 2007). The play also touches on vital human traits and principles, including loyalty, faithfulness, and sincerity. More importantly, Don Giovanni centers on the ambiguity intrinsic to human relations, the intricate connection between life and death, and the interminable tension between love and the risk of its extermination. Don Giovanni can be characterized as a comic opera due to its indulgence with tragic themes, such as crime and murder, in an astoundingly funny manner. By definition, an opera is an art form in which the composers combine dramatic works with musical scores and libretto or text in theatrical settings. The singing may be either melodic or recitative. Traditionally, operas incorporate most of the typical elements of spoken theatre, including ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The stereotype e.g. women more likely to take a housekeeping job, secretarial tasks or even be look at taking notes at a college meeting. Ageism it s been known that because of a person age, he/she been discriminated against for job advancement. Race refers to the practice of treating people differently because of the race. I have personally heard on my past job that the manager is looking to hire a Caucasian person, yes this still exists in toady time. Discrimination will always be a around it will take a miracle for this to come to an end not only within the workplace. Even though laws have been passed to equal pay, however when it comes to equal pay a lot of company still don t comply with this ruling. Model The feminist model is described as conflict resolution. Feminist model aims to resolve inequality on multiple levels of existence. In addition, feminist model of conflict determination identifies sources of conflict as results of oppression prolonged by dominant. e.g. if a male and a female walk over to the automotive service department to get their car work on, and the worker come out and automatic address the male with the question, how may I help you , the worker is looking at the male as the dominant person. ... • 15. The Decision Struck Down A Statute In 1976, by a 7 2 decision, the Court adopted an intermediate level of review for gender classifications in the case Craig v. Boren. The decision struck down a statute that allowed women over the age of eighteen to purchase beer but only men over the age of twenty one. Using this intermediate scrutiny, the Court has invalidated gender segregation across the board. However, while this heightened level of scrutiny has drastically helped women, it has not been equal in its effect on men. Since Craig, the Court has upheld a requirement that only men register for the draft (Rostker v. Goldberg) and a statutory rape law where only adult men were punished for having sex with an underage individual of the opposite sex (Michael M. v. Superior Court). While these cases occurred in the 80s, this trend of favoring women over men in gender discrimination cases has continued, especially in regards to administrative law and protection. Recent Supreme Court cases reveal that men are still being unfavorably ruled against over women, leading one to believe a push for strict scrutiny is key in bridging that gap and implementing a federal statute that all States must obey in order to ensure gender equality is achieved on both sides of the spectrum. Beginning in the 70s, even before the decision of Craig, one is able to notice a trend of men seeming to fail where women have strived in court. A notable case is Frontiero v. Richardson which involved a lieutenant of the United States Air Force ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bort, in his essay Winesburg, Ohio: The Escape from Isolation, briefly examines the characters in many of the short stories included in Winesburg as they fail to both understand each other and to connect with other members of the town. Working chronologically, Bort specifically mentions: The Book of the Grotesques, Hands, Paper Pills, Godliness, Adventure, and Tandy pointing to their contribution to the major themes of Winesburg, Ohio. He begins his analysis comparing Hands and Paper Pills as he asserts that their relationship is central to Anderson s message. He applies each example to this pair of stories with opposing representations of isolation, and in the end, relates the structure and content of the collection of stories to his conclusion about the true nature of the book being the description of what Anderson calls significant moments. The Importance Of Electronic Mass Communication Web 2.0 environments stand to have a profound impact on social practices (Bruns, 2013, page 117) iPhones have a way of removing people from conversations that they may be physically present for. Again, the phone pulls people away from their surroundings, so while they are physically there in a room full of people, mentally they are not. They are disengaged from the real conversation, wrapped up in the virtual discussions taking place on the phone. One quote from George Lipsitz in his article Popular Culture that I think works well here is the powerful apparatuses of contemporary commercial electronic mass communications dominate the discourse in the modern world. (Lipsitz, 2013, page 46) The iPhone has changed the way in which people communicate with each other, the things we choose to speak about, and the way in which we discuss such topics. The phone sucks him in, he becomes intrigued with the apps on his phone, scrolling through social media and non stop texting. Good soils that can help gardens, trees, and plants are worth having a little stink. Many people think composting is hard, though it can be easier with the right equipment, the right c:n ratio, and the right boosts that will help kick start your pile. Compost bins have many different flavors or types. Some include tumblers (or revolving drums), orbs, and cylinders. Tumblers and orbs are types of compost bins that helps turn your compost easier. Revolving drums are normally on rollers or can be hand cranked. They are made to spin easier, and are regularly enclosed. They also can be vertical to turn over, or horizontal to be rolled like a barrel. Orbs are bins that are octanal shaped or round. Orbs are very similar to revolving drums, but are rolled on the ground to mix the compost. Some even have numbers that can help you remember when you last turned it.6 Cylinders are simple designs that are useful, and can be easy to move. Cylinders can be open or closed. Open cylinders have no top or bottom, but has something of a wall around it. These can be easily moved and mixed. Closed cylinders are commonly made of a thick plastic, and contradicting the open cylinder has a top and bottom. They have ventilation and near the bottom there is a door to take ... • 21. Christians Should Study Greek Philosophy Throughout the history of Christianity, there have been many different ideas on how a Christian should interact with the world in which they lived. From the biblical writings of The Gospel according to Matthew, and The Acts of the Apostles, to the non biblical writings of On Philosophy, and The Prescription Against Heretics, the ideas of Christianity were brought together. The two non biblical documents highlight the arguments of whether or not Christians should study Greek philosophy. The books from The Bible showed that Christian beliefs focused on how one should primarily seek their ultimate reward or satisfaction in the Kingdom of God (spiritual), rather than in the here and now (temporal). Christianity, as it began, was a faith that emphasized the importance of acting charitable towards the less fortunate, while understanding that it was ones duty to worship God and spread that love for Him to those who didn t believe. In the Gospel According to Matthew, Jesus said, Blessed are the poor, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. When Jesus said this, he showed how the Kingdom of Heaven was welcomed for anybody, not only those who were more fortunate than others. Jesus then went on to explain how those who were humble and those who showed righteousness would enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus also told the people how they should spread his word everywhere and teach those to examine all the things He commanded them. In The Great Commission speech, Jesus inspired His ... Destruction of the American Dream in Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman A white picket fence surrounds the tangible icons of the American Dreams in the middle 1900 s: a mortgage, an automobile, a kitchen appliance paid for on the monthly installment plan, and a silver trophy representative of high school football triumph. A pathetic tale examining the consequences of man s harmartias, Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman satisfies many, but not all, of the essential elements of a tragedy. Equally as damaging, the Loman family lacks the ability to make the necessary and suitable choices to pursue the American Dream. Although Willy is skillful with his hands and believes a man who can t handle tools is disgusting, he chooses a lifetime career as a salesman, based on the fanciful image of his father who abandoned Willy as a child and on the image of an 84 year old salesman who dies alone in a train car to Boston. Willy takes pride in the craftsmanship he put into their house, yet believes a salesman such as his father is better than a carpenter. Furthermore, he questions the purpose of building because some stranger ll come along, move in, and that s that. Ironically, Willy is a better carpenter than a salesman. He boasts on what an impact he makes on his clients, but in reality one of the reasons he has a sexual rendezvous with a secretary is to get through to the buyers. It is a right that prohibits other persons from making, using, selling or importing an invention. An invention is one thing, a way of doing something, which is new, useful, and which does not already exist in nature in the same form. There are several types of patent, but the one we are interested in is the biological patent, which is a patent on an invention in the field of biology that allows the patent holder to prevent others from making it from using it, selling it or importing it. The manner in which vision and perception of certain characters in Shakespeare s play King Lear is obscured, is a testament of just that. Perhaps that was why the word was changed over time: as the city grew and grew, the word metropolis seemed to become more and more inadequate. And Mega City One was just lame. In the aftermath of the Final War (as people called it, when referring to the conflict that gave rise to Polis), things changed. Gradually, at first, as those leaders that were perceived to have failed were replaced sometimes violently by people who genuinely seemed to care about the population s needs and concerns. The country was slowly transformed, town by ruined town, city by devastated city, state by crippled state. Those who d survived were often eager for a leadership that would give them the direction they wanted, that put the people first, that put the needs of society ahead of the needs of self. It was not socialism, as that was one of the driving forces that had led to the Final War in the first place; nor was it capitalism, as that had been another driving force of the War instead, a curious blend of social conservatism rose to fill the void, and it was embraced by the survivors. Deontological ethics typically is thought to involve two important elements: prerogatives and constraints. Prerogatives deny that agents must always seek to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Women s Influence On Society In the Later Middle Ages in Europe, power was one of the main drives on society. The limited amount of people who had power in society gained it through religious or governmental affiliation. Since the church and the christian faith was the main aspect of, generally, everyone s lives during that time, those who held religious powers played important roles in society. However, power was not even among the different genders of society. In a male dominated society, women scarcely could have power in society. Women could primary receive power through some type of religious affiliation, but could not hold powers in the government. Nonetheless, they were able to influence society through the little power that they did have. Their power derived from the prestige of being a religious leader. Nonetheless, the little power women had was often questioned by men. Source documents 11 5, 11 6, and 12 5 explore women in society during these times. Although similar in being in the time period of the middle ages, each document also has characteristic differences about women during that time. In her Letter to Gregory XI, Catherine of Siena uses her status as a nun to influence the main political and religious issue of that time. She wrote to Pope Gregory XI urging him to relocate the religious capital from Avignon back to its original location in Rome. Previously, Pope Clement V had relocated the capital to Avignon for secular reason. After the relocation, the succeeding popes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Overall Its output for the entire Civil War period totaled 378,000 revolvers and 114,000 muskets (Grant, 1982). The role that his company played in producing firearms for the Union Army placed Colt as a historic figure in American history. Today Samuel Colt is looked at as the man who revolutionized the firearm industry and the man who created the first mass producing firearms company in the world. He was recently honored in 2006 as he was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. With manufacturing moving overseas in the past several decades and America currently having a trade deficit it would be difficult for Hartford to redevelop itself as one of the most important manufacturing cities in America. On the contrary, Hartford can use its past to place itself as one of the most important manufacturing cities in America. For instance, it can argue the fact that Colt came up with the idea of mass production and started running his business out of Hartford, that it was the city of Hartford who was the first to place itself as an industrial city in America. As the United States also faces challenges in regaining some of its success in the past back in manufacturing, it must end the habit of companies shipping all of the manufacturing jobs overseas and restore the ... • 45. Bend It Like Beckham Analysis Bend It Like Beckham , directed by Gurinder Chadha is a 2002 comedic sports film, based in London, England. The plot follows an athletic 18 year old girl; Jesminder Bhamra and her strict parents who detest Jess passion and love for playing soccer as it refutes their family s Indian Sikh religious morals. Jess feels a lot of pressure and guilt throughout the film as she is ultimately betraying her family, yet everyone in her team supports her, including the coach, Joe who tries to convince Jess that her parents don t always know what s best for her. In every family, there is often a distinct line between what a person wants to do and achieve, compared to what their parents and family members expect of them. This cliché can be easily applied to many of the characters including Tony Jess best pal, Juliet Paxton the player who suggested Jess joined the local team and Jess with their conflicts between their families. Aside from being the main character in the film, Jesminder suffers the worst conflict between her parents and family, throughout the entire storyline. Despite her parent s wishes and concerns towards Jess passion, she makes the decision to secretively continue to spend hours in the local park playing with other passionate male players whenever she could spare the time. This soon brought on an offer from a player from the local soccer team, who was amazed by Jess skills, and she soon joined the team, all without her parent s knowing. As mentioned earlier, ... His resignation was prompted by mounting accusations of his involvement in the Watergate scandal, perhaps the biggest scandal the country has ever seen. The Watergate scandal was a series of events started by the break in to the Democratic Party headquarters by members connected to the Nixon campaign with the orders to steal confidential plans. President Gerald Ford later issued a presidential pardon, but many Americans could not forgive Nixon for his involvement. The Watergate Scandal distracted the history books from one of the most productive presidencies in history. Richard Milhous Nixon was born in Yorba Linda, California. ... Women gained more rights and respect. Ultimately, these domestic programs may be remembered longer than his currently better known activities in the realm of foreign policy, and they may even minimize his negative Watergate image. In any case, they represent the most positive characteristics of the Nixon phenomenon. In fact, the Age of Nixon that would end in the denouement of disgrace, actually reached its climax in the area of domestic reform (Hoff 144). • 49. Summary Of The Yellow Wall-Paper To be effective means to be successful in producing a desired or intended result. According to Aristotle, the most effective way to construct the plot of a story is to have a clear beginning, middle, and end with certain aspects included between each major part to form a complex plot. In the short story The Yellow Wall Paper , the author, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, follows Aristotle s schema for constructing an effective plot by drawing the readers emotionally to the characters; including reversal, recognition, and suffering; and having a complex plot. Charlotte Perkins Gilman emotionally draws readers to the characters in The Yellow Wall Paper. The unnamed protagonist of the story persuades readers to pity and empathize with her from the beginning of the story when she talks about her husband/physician, John, and her depression. She talks about how John is helping her by putting her on rest cure and keeping her locked in a room with no stimulation from the outside world when she says, I get unreasonably angry with John sometimes. I m not sure I never used to be so sensitive. I think it is due to this nervous condition (Gilman 315). When she describes her husband and blames her sensitivity on her condition, it is hard to read because everyone else can see that she should be angry with John and he is the main reason that she is in the mental state that she is in. What she characterized as help from her husband is clearly seen by the audience as harmful and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
