Multiple Independent Levels Of Security Architecture
Another security measure is the implementation of the Multiple Independent Levels of Security
Architecture (MILS). The MILS model is best used for high assurance systems as the structure of the
model has stringent access controls and work flows which a regulated by a microprocessor. This
model is simpler than others but offers tighter security. The MILS model is broken down into four
components: A Separation Kernel, Middleware, Applications and a Partitioning Communications
System. This structure is similar to other security models as they can have a security kernel which
regulates drivers and applications. The aspects that separate the MILS model are its security policies
and the way in which they are implemented. (OIS) Unlike the ... Show more content on

The Middleware is responsible for ensuring information sent out is properly defined labeled, filtering
and damaging messages and ensuring the information flow restrictions are followed and remain intact.
This level also contains device drivers, file systems POSIX which are traditionally located in the
kernel of other security models (OIS, 2015). According to Objective Interface Systems, the
Application Layer is responsible for enforcing application layer security policies (2015). These
security polies can include encryption protection firewalls, and/or IDS settings. This layer is located
on top of the middle layer. This layer is unique as the applications security can be evaluated on its own
aside from the security of the entire system (Xining Yameng, 2012). The forth component of the
system is the Partitioning Communication System (PCS). This component works in conjunction with
the Middleware Layer and controls the interaction between the different MILS sections. The PCS
provides end to end protection to the sections on the network not directly connected to the MILS. It
assists with security for the information flow, data isolation. Periods processing and damage limitation
(OIS, 2015).
Advantages of MILS
The MILS model has several advantages. The primary advantage to MILS is rooted in the system s
design. The MILS model was designed for security thus making the architecture

The Positive Impact Of The Juvenile Justice System
The Juvenile Justice system (JJS) is not beneficial to the civilians in the community.Young adults that
have committed indescribable crimes are being released back into the community for a second
chance. This is endangering the lives of other innocent people and is definitely not helping the juvenile
in anyway.Kevin C Framingham has a very strong opinion in which he is agreeing with the way the
JJS is ran. Mr. Framingham wrote an article For Teen Ink about how rehabilitating young criminals is
an amazing idea. The article is called Punishment or Rehabilitation? . He answered the question many
people ask What is the true aim of our prison system? The answer he gave was Their most important
function must be to rehabilitate criminals into society so prisons can have a positive effect on inmates
.This should not be the goal in our JJS. As of now, the JJS is rehabilitating murders, molesters, sexual
assaulters, ect. These dangerous criminals are released back into the world. This is putting men,
women, and children in danger everyday ,yet the JJS still does it. In the month of May,2015 two
twelve year old girls stabbed their friend,Payton Leutner, nineteen times repeatedly.Anissa Weier and
Morgan Geyser said that they attempted to kill their friend to be accepted into the mansion of a
fictional character that goes by the name of Slenderman .The two girls lured their dear friend into the
woods where they stabbed her and then left her to die. Luckley, Payten

The Stranger By Albert Camus Essay
The Stranger was written by the French author Albert Camus, and was first published in 1942 in its
indigenous French. It s described as being the most widely read French novel of the twentieth century,
and has sold millions of copies in Britain and the United States alone. It s known by two titles; the
other being The Outsider. The backstory to this is very interesting but, more importantly, the subtle
difference in meaning between titles suggests certain resultant translative idiosyncrasies when reading
the texts. The conciseness and terseness of the novel demands a very specific interpretation if one is to
understand it correctly, and unless read in French some of the meaning is doubtless lost in translation .
Even so, the main idea in The Stranger is readily accessible, and that idea is the philosophy behind
meaning. Albert Camus tells states in his 1955 Preface to the American Edition of The Stranger: One
would therefore not be much mistaken to read The Stranger as the story of a man who, without any
heroics, agrees to die for the truth (Camus, 1955). The Stranger takes the reader on a journey that
simultaneously questions meaning, and utilizes Meursault as a vehicle in finding it. Most analyses
seem to define The Stranger as a foray into the Absurd , however, by the end of the novel Meursault
does indeed, find meaning in his world, and we ve been led to comprehend that discovery by Camus.
To validate this, we need to address how the text guides us to that

The Fall Of The House Of Usher Effect
Edgar Allan Poe once said that the artistry of narratives is in the ability to achieve a unity of effect
(Clement, lecture notes). In his narrative The Fall of the House of Usher, a man gets a letter from an
old friend who wants him to go to his family estate because he is sick. When he arrives, he notices that
his friend and his sister are not the only ones affected by illness. It is obvious that the house is too. The
illness leads to the death of the Ushers and also the destruction of the house. In The Fall of the House
of Usher, Poe makes death and decay, as well as overall illness, his unity of effect. He creates this
effect by using the different features of narratives. He establishes this effect through his narrator, the
setting of the story, and the events that affect the characters. In this short narrative, there are many
textual examples that enforce the effect of death, decay, and illness. In the succeeding paragraphs, I
will be analyzing the style, setting, narrator, characters, and conflict of this ... Show more content on

In the early time periods where oral narratives were the only form of story, narratives existed to teach
a lesson or to illustrate a moral. In the medieval period, narratives were for entertainment. It wasn t
until the nineteenth century that tales became about truth. Narratives like The Fall of the House of
Usher aren t about teaching or entertaining. These narratives are about the message or experience that
is being created through writing. They are about presenting readers with an effect that is made to be
felt and thought about. In The Fall of the House of Usher readers are left with the feeling of death,
decay, and illness because of Poe s use of language, story world, narrator, characters, and conflict.
Edgar Allan Poe did an effective job of using his writing to portray the effect he wanted to deliver to

Britain Of The European Union
The issue of Britain remaining in the European Union, and the consequences of a potential British exit
sometimes shortened to Brexit from the European Union, have come to the forefront of public debate.
While some say that Britain s egress from the EU would benefit it economically, others argue that the
contrary is true, and that there would be detrimental economic consequences for Britain and Europe.
In truth, the issue is much more complex and multifaceted. Brexit must be looked at in terms of its
socioeconomic consequences on immigration, the job market, and trade; and also its political effects
on British sovereignty. It has been claimed through the last coalition government, and the Labour
government before that, that 3 3.5 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some studies have tried to assess the impact of EU regulations affecting businesses the EU being able
to pass legislation on matters such as product specifications, competition, employment terms, health
and safety, and consumer protection using Impact Assessments (IAs). Looking at a smaller number of
regulations but with the largest associated costs, the British Chamber of Commerce estimated the costs
of regulations annually to be £7.6 billion and the cost since 1998 being about £60.8 billion. Both
studies reached a consensus that the Working Time Directive, the Pollution Directive, the Data
Protection Directive and the Directive on the Sale of Consumer Goods were the most expensive
regulations. But both Open Europe and the British Chamber of Commerce came to the conclusion that
the benefit cost ratio of EU regulation was 1.02, while the benefit cost ratio of regulations imposed by
the UK government was 2.35.
Countries that are in the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries that are not in the
European Union but do have access to the Single Market must abide by EU economic regulations.
Joining the EFTA has provided an option for Britain to leave the EU but remain the Single Market.
However, this leaves Britain in a quandary: do they accept the EU s regulations or risk being forced
out of the Single Market? A complete withdrawal would also mean that at least in the short term,
Britain would have to retain some of the EU regulations

American Mariners History
The early modern sea particularly the Atlantic can be characterized as a space of great instability. It
was here that communication and trade between nations became easily accessible, but the lack of
uniform maritime regulations and commercial competition fostered hostility between states, resulting
in prolonged periods of war. One distinct product of this environment was pirates, who took to the
high seas in search of ships to illegally capture and raid of their goods. For the great maritime nations
of the 16th to 18th centuries, pirates were simply criminals that threatened the progress of the world
economy, but history has shown that they were much more complex figures. At the same time as they
were violent, ruthless, and defiant outlaws, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reasons for becoming or turning pirate have been widely theorized, and it seems as though a
multitude of social, political, and economic factors were at play. On an individual level, the dangerous
and almost inevitably fatal nature of piracy makes it improbable that one would join a crew if they felt
as though they had other alternatives. Instead, it is more likely that piracy was a last resort refuge for a
dejected class of sailors who did not fit in with normative cultural standards, but could not escape the
fact that society dictated that they must work to survive regardless. Because piracy stemmed from a
distinctly maritime class and not the general landed population, it is easier to understand why it may
have been seen as a viable option. These men were already familiar with the principles of teamwork,
harmony, and trust that were
2
necessary to survive on a ship, and their lengthy voyages often made them ill adjusted to life on land.
There are two main reasons why a sailor would have crossed the line between legal and illegal
maritime service: perceived injustice and peacetime layoffs. Unlike the pirate ship, both navy and
merchant ships were more dictatorial than democratic; their captains were not

The Practices and History of Zoroastrianism Essay
For centuries, Zoroastrianism was the leading religion of Persia (now Iran) before the modern Islamic
religions came to be. Zoroastrianism is thought to be founded in 6th century BC by Zarathustra.
Zoroastrians follow the sacred text called the Avesta; it is their Book of the Law.
Zarathustra was a Persian prophet, when at age 30 claimed to have had visions of God. Zarathustra
called God Ahura Mazda. Zoroastrianism quickly became the official religion of Persia, but came to
an abrupt end in 637 AD at the time of the Muslim invasion. There are an estimated 2.6 million
practicing Zoroastrians in the world today.
In Zarathustra s visions, he was taken up to heaven, where God, Ahura Mazda, revealed his opponent.

To modern Zoroastrians, coming of age is a very important point in life. This is celebrated at age
seven in India, and age 10 in Persia. The subject receives a sadre (shirt) and a kusti (girdle) which they
are to wear for the rest of their lives.
In Zoroastrianism, there are two main types of purification. Ablution, padyab or nahn, and bareshnum
a complicated ritual performed at special places with the participation of a dog (whose left ear is
touched by the candidate and whose gaze puts the evil spirits to flight) and lasting several days. One
might purify to increase their well being, to help abolish sins, or just as a holy practice.
This religion also greatly honors a Sacred Fire. The Sacred Fire must be kept burning continually, and
must be fed at least five times per day, accompanied by prayer. The founding of a new Sacred Fire, is
a involves a very elaborate ritual. The biggest ceremony, Yasna, is celebrated in front of the Sacred
Fire, and basically consists of the burning of haoma (sacred liquor.) Along with sacrifice, the reading
of large passages of the Avesta (book of law.) The second largest and most cheerful celebration in
Zoroastrianism, is Noruz. The Noruz is Zoroastrian New Year. This holiday consists of bountiful
feasts, the personification of summer, and celebration of the year to come. Festivals are important

Why Do Life Be Fair Essay
Unless you re winning a game, most of your life will not be fair. Life isn t going to give you the win
and consequently, will be hard and unjust. You will have hardships and hesitations, and that becomes
another reason to want to win and overcome this game of life. There are a couple of arguments why
life will never be fair and one is... Life will always be a competition for the best things, and two, our
idea of fairness will always be what our interests are. Now you re thinking, Right! Being fair doesn t
have to deal with competition or my interests! , but really it does. Since I have your attention, let s find
out why. First, I said before that life is a competition and won t always be fair. You re thinking Nope...

When we have a mind set on something, in which we have an interest in, we find ourselves awaiting
for more that is unfair about that. Say you have an interest for good grades. When you get that bad
grade in the Gradebook, what do you assume first? You assume that the test just wasn t fair. The are
you kidding me that was so not fair attitude shows. When we have an interest in something like that,
and we don t get what we wanted, we don t say Aww my bad. That was a mistake on my side. Instead
we go straight to the unfair side. A study has shown that among survivors of the 2008 Wenchuan
earthquake, which killed nearly 90,000 Chinese, those who lost family and friends were more likely
than others to believe the universe was unfair. Yet those who continued to believe the universe was fair
suffered the least anxiety and depression. This shows that when they had an interest in family and the
earthquake took them away, their life became unfair. Correspondingly, you cannot go thinking that
everything you have an interest in will always be fair, because it won t. You have to believe in the fair
in the world and prosper from those

Health And Behavior Change Analysis
The local, state and national, government has many roles and responsibilities in health and behavior
change (Altman, 2001). An effective public health system that can assure the nation s health requires
the collaborative efforts of a complex network of people and organizations in the public and private
sectors, as well as an alignment of policy and practice of governmental public health agencies at the
national, state, and local levels.
In the United States, governments at all levels federal, state, and local have a specific responsibility to
strive to create the conditions in which people can be as healthy as possible which implement health
and behavior change. In the government, policy makers can play their role within the public health

The Threat Of The Taliban
When Obama was elected in 2008 one of his main goals was to end all war with Afghanistan.
Currently Obama has decided to keep the troops in Afghanistan until 2017, extending after his
removal from office. According to the New York Times, his decision against the removal is an effort to
counter terrorism attacks. Since 2001, after the attack on the twin towers, the US has been trying to
fight against terrorism. After the attack, Al Qaeda and Bin Laden both hid in Afghanistan, making it a
hideout for terrorists. Before 9/11, Bin Laden and Al Qaeda had formed relations with the Taliban.

and NATO forces formally ended their long running combat mission in Afghanistan, which began in
the weeks after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. That means the 2015 fighting season was the first time
Afghanistan s troops were officially tasked with defending their country with significantly reduced
help from the U.S. It s a test for which the Afghans have in recent months appeared ill equipped. The
US is currently playing a big role in Afghanistan, even with the 10,000 troops still there.
Multiple aspects are at stake when considering the troops withdrawal from Afghanistan. Isis is a threat
to America as well as a threat to Afghanistan. Even the Taliban doesn t agree with the beliefs of Isis,
they are much more extreme than those of the Taliban. If we can help Afghanistan fight against Isis,
we can help keep Isis from attacking the US. Within the past couple of days, Isis attacked Paris and
the whole world is scared, because it wasn t an attack on Paris it was an attack on humanity itself. In
the past there was also the aspect of oil that we could get from Afghanistan, but now trying to fight
Isis is the biggest factor. Another aspect is that Afghanistan needs our help because we are the
superpower. America is strong in everything military, socially and politically, so it s our moral
responsibility to help Afghanistan with Isis. It will also benefit the US when Isis isn t a threat, because
America won t be worried

Summary of The Crime of Poverty by Henry George Essay
Summery of The Crime of Poverty by Henry George. The essay begins with Henry George referring
to his audience as ladies and gentlemen. He then goes on to state that poverty is a crime. A crime not
committed by the poor, but rather the poor as victims of the crime. He also does not wholly blame
those perpetrating the crime, he also gives a kind of notion that the victim has a hand the situation he
or she finds themselves in. He says the poverty is a curse that not only the poor have but is on every
level of society even the rich. He says the rich also suffer because it is like the air all the community
breathes. They too must breathe it. Henry George says poverty is the harbinger of crime and
ignorance. After seeing men in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

their thoughts about humans who have achieved so much and yet there are still those of us who are not

worked less. One thing people feared to disturb labor and production of sustenance was famine. He

Visible Minority And Immigrant Racism
Visible Minority and Immigrant Racism in the Canadian Work Environment
In the ideal world, every person is treated equally in the workplace whether it be hiring, promotion,
assignments or termination. However in reality, racial discrimination and harassment remain pervasive
in the workplace, with 1 in 4 visible minority workers who reported that they had experienced racial
harassment or discrimination in the workplace [3]. In this essay, I will be discussing the social history
of racism in the workplace, the nature of racism in the labour force, motives and factors, immigration
policies, temporary programs and exploitation of employment, the de skilling of individuals and non
recognition of foreign credentials, the social history of racism in the workplace, racism in the
sociological conflict theory paradigm, and finally, policy recommendations to aimed to eliminate and
decrease racism in the work environment. In the Canadian work environment, racism exists as a
complex and multidimensional inequality for visible minorities and immigrants, and can be examined
socially, economically and politically using the sociological Marxist conflict theory paradigm.

How Technology Has Changed Our Society
Over the last ten years, technology has transformed almost every aspect of our lives before we ve had
time to stop and question it. In every home on every desk; in every palm a plasma screen a monitor: a
smartphone a black mirror of our 21st century existence. Our grip on reality is shifting we worship at
the altars of Google and Apple. Facebook algorithms know us more intimately than our parents. We
have access to all the information in the world but no brain space left to absorb anything longer than

their own ability to think independently just for all the information in the world at their fingertips.
Technology has only deepened its grasp on consumers by becoming a necessity for conformity. The

BACKGROUND
In the year 2016 owning some form of technology is a necessity and without it the consumer is kicked
out of society forever. This is proven within the smartphone epidemic and even the era of modern day
television. The consumers that had not participated in the technology transformation were left alone to
the old methods of entertainment. With that being said thinking about this concept in a more extensive
way leads to the assumption that consumers have this fear of missing out.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Stress Relief By Paul Lieberstein
In the American television series The Office , the main purpose of the show is to entertain audiences.
The episode Stress Relief written by Paul Lieberstein is no exception. This episode was first aired on
the 1st of February, 2009 to national audiences. One of the main scenes of the episode was the fire
drill where a main character, Dwight Schrute, unhappy with the office s competence of fire safety
decides to take matters in his own hands. He simulates a fire by burning some paper, creating chaos in
the office. He blocks all exits and cuts the phone lines only further panicking his coworkers.
Eventually, as his coworkers are breaking windows and climbing into the ceiling, he blows his air
horn and announces that it was just a drill testing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the time of writing of the episode, he had over 10 years of experience in the television business. He
also plays the character Toby Flenderson in the show itself, meaning he gets to see both the writer s
side and the actor s side of the show. As such as knowledgeable about the business and the show, his
ethos is very apparently. Yet, he is technically behind the scenes as the writer of the show, meaning
this credibility would not do much for the audience. Instead, he creates ethos for the show itself. His
rhetorical strategy to do so relies heavily on creating an authentic image of what the average
workplace looks like. Excluding this aspect would not only change the entire premise of the show but
also tremendously weaken the satire he aims to present. Lieberstein persuades his audience by creating
a realistic office based on his acknowledge of contemporary workplaces. With the help of the crew, he
creates a set that is primarily in an antiseptic office building full of fluorescent lighting, nondescript
cubicles, and buzzing fax machines (Birthsiel), much like a standard office. Additionally, the Office
uses a mockumentary approach to their filming style. Rather than the standard recording format of
shows, the filming style is designed to emulate a documentary. By doing this, the rather unconvincing
idea of pointless daily recordings of an office becomes disguised with the façade of a film crew
creating a documentary. This explanation of the recording makes the office seem natural and realistic.
Ultimately, Lieberstein s use of the show s design is what gives himself and the show

Apple s First True Love Essay
Crying
I was told as a child that strong people don t cry. For many years I barely shed a tear. I remember not
crying at my grandfather s funeral because I wanted to be strong.
As I grew older, it became harder and harder to carry so much pain and anxiety inside and I became
weighed down.
Then one day, I could no longer hold it in and while I was alone, I cried. To my amazement, I felt so
much relief and realized, it takes a strong person to cry.
Now, my muscles are growing slowly, and every once in a while, I ll shed a tear. My tears are mostly
of joy now because I feel free. Every blue moon my tears may be due to sadness and that s okay.
Either way, crying is relief.

What Is The Purpose Of Electromyography
Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Studies
An electromyogram (EMG) gauges the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction.
Nerve conduction studies (NCS) measure how well and how fast the nerves can send electrical
signals.
The nervous system is a complex, sophisticated system that regulates and coordinates body activities.
It is made up of two major divisions: the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) and the
peripheral nervous system (all other neural elements). The brain sends out signals through electrical
signals called impulses that control the muscles of the body. Unfortunately, nerve and muscle
problems cause the muscles to react in abnormal ways.
The purpose of EMG/NCS is to localize where your symptoms are coming from. That can be pain,
any kind of numbness and tingling, and/or weakness and the test is also good at assessing the severity
of your symptoms. Typically, these studies are ordered when a patient is having some type of nerve
symptom: pain, numbness and tingling or a burning sensation, and/or any type of weakness where a
person can feel a change in muscle strength. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Imagine, you are nine years old, and you re on a trip to Disneyland with your family. It s your turn to
choose a ride to go on and you desperately want to go on the Alice in Wonderland ride. You get in line
and you wait for what feels like ages. Finally, you re up next to go on the ride; you and your mom step
into the caterpillar shaped cart and the safety bar comes down so it is now resting on top of your lap.
The cart suddenly jerks forward and you are sent into the ride at full speed. You see ginormous
flowers, teacups that are larger than your house, chairs that are the size of salt shakers, and doors that
only a mouse could fit through! When the ride finishes, you are completely disoriented, and you have
no idea what the correct sizes of the objects that you are seeing around you should be. What if some
people felt like this every single day? What you experienced was much like the symptoms of Todd s
Syndrome, more commonly known as Alice in Wonderland Syndrome. This syndrome was first
recorded in 1955 by a British psychiatrist by the name of John Todd. He named it Alice in Wonderland
Syndrome because of the symptoms that the patient s experiences are much like what Alice
experienced in the book Alice in Wonderland written by Lewis Carroll. It is thought that Lewis Carroll
suffered from this neuropsychological condition hence the vivid distortions pictured in his book. Since
being discovered in 1955, only 170 case descriptions have been published by doctors, so

Mother Daughter Relationships
Daughters and Mothers in The Joy Luck Club
Children, as they become adults, become more appreciative of their parents. In The Joy Luck Club, the
attitudes of four daughters toward their mothers change as the girls mature and come to realize that
their mothers aren t so different after all.
As children, the daughters in this book are ashamed of their mothers and don t take them very
seriously, dismissing them as quirky and odd. I could never tell my father . . . How could I tell him my
mother was crazy? (p. 117). They don t try to comprehend their culture, which is a big part of
understanding their traditional Chinese mothers. On page 6, one of the daughters states, I can never

. . How can I leave the world without leaving her my spirit? So this is what I will do. I will gather
together my past and . . . see a thing that has already happened. The pain that cut my spirit loose. I will
hold that pain in my hand until it becomes hard and shiny, more clear. And then my fierceness can
come back . . . I will use this sharp pain to penetrate my daughter s tough skin and cut her tiger spirit
loose. She will fight me, because this is the nature of two tigers. But I will win and give her my spirit
because this is why a mother loves a daughter. (p. 286)
Things don t exactly turn out the way the mothers hope, though. Their hopes and dreams are shattered
when they realize their daughters misconceptions of them. On page 282, a mother laments, When my
daughter looks at me, she sees a small, old lady. If she had chuming [inside knowledge of things] she
would see a tiger lady. One daughter sees the fear of the remaining mothers after she tells them that
she doesn t know anything about her dead mother that she can pass on:
They are frightened. In me, they see their own daughters, just as ignorant, just as unmindful of all the
truths and hopes they have brought to America. They see daughters who grow impatient when their
mothers talk in Chinese, who think they are stupid when they explain things in fractured English . . .
They see daughters who will bear grandchildren born without

Hypoglycemia Research Paper
Hypoglycemia is a condition characterized with abnormally low blood sugar. Some symptoms
include: nervousness or anxiety, shakiness, sweating, chills, clamminess, impatience or irritability,
confusion, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, hunger or nausea, impaired or blurred vision, headache,
weakness or fatigue, lack of coordination, and if severe enough unconsciousness and seizures.
(diabete.org) This condition is also known as hyperinsulinism, which is caused by excessive insulin
secretion, resulting in low blood glucose levels. (Marieb pg. 624.) For those with diabetes
hypoglycemia can result if a person takes too much insulin, does not eat enough food, or the right
kinds of foods. (Smith, pg. 264) This condition, for both diabetic and non diabetic, ... Show more

low levels of certain hormones, such as cortisol, growth hormone, glucagon, or epinephrine, and
tumors, such as a tumor in the pancreas that makes insulin or a tumor that makes a similar hormone

Themes Of There Will Come Soft Rains By Ray Bradbury
Theme, the moral of a story, almost every story has a theme. Ray Bradbury has interesting themes in
his stories. Especially There Will Come Soft Rains , The Flying Machine and The Dragon . In the
story There Will Come Soft Rains on page 267, At night the ruined city gave off a radioactive glow
which could be seen for miles. All the people were gone because of themselves, there was a nuclear
attack on them. In the story, there was a consequence that was bad such as they had a nuclear attack on
them because of themselves, but there is also a good consequence. The house kept on working hard to
clean the house, made food for the people even though they were not there. On page 267 it states,
Outside the garage chimed and lifted its door to reveal the waiting car. After a long wait, the door
swung down again. This shows that the house didn t notice that the people were gone and kept it s
routine because it thought it was doing good. In The Flying Machine the emperor did not like that the
inventor had made the flying machine to help China, he saw it as a machine that could fall into the
wrong hands and cause rocks thrown at the Great Wall of China. On page 306 the text states, What
have you done? demanded the Emperor. I have flown in the sky, Your Excellency, replied the man.
What have you done? said the Emperor again. I have just told you! cried the flier.
You have told me nothing at all.
The Emperor reached out a thin hand to touch the pretty paper and the birdlike feel of the apparatus. It
smelled cool of the wind.
Is it not beautiful, Excellency?
Yes, too beautiful. It continues with the Emperor calling the executioner to execute the flier because
the Emperor is afraid the flying machine will fall into the wrong hands. On page 310 the author states,
Off with his head, said the Emperor. The executioner whirled his silver ax. The flier had gotten killed
because his invention was too beautiful but could help people and the machine was burned. This story
shows that not everyone agrees with how technology is advancing but you can t really stop it from
happening because if this story were real the Emperor didn t stop the world from inventing things
because we now have helicopters

I Have A Dream Speech Outline
I Have a Dream was a pivotal speech delivered by the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. on August 28,
1963. 250,000 civil rights supporters attended the March on Washington where the speech was
delivered at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. The peaceful demonstration was organized at the heels
of President Kennedy s proposal of civil rights legislation earlier in June 1963. Since 1960, Dr. King
had presented several different versions of his Dream speech, but his delivery of the speech that day
would be the last version and subsequently became copyrighted material. I Have a Dream was
delivered 100 years after the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. Dr. King s belief was African
Americans were still not free 100 years later. His speech spoke of blacks and whites living peacefully
together in society, seeking an end to violence, expanding voting rights for blacks, and called for ...

King was violently targeted over his pursue of civil rights which spanned from 1955 until he was

Project Appraisal
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
PROJECT APPRAISAL
Every organisation has to examine the viability of each project before it provides financial assistance.
It has to ensure that the project will generate sufficient funds on the resources invested in it. With the
opening of new factory outlet, the study of viability of a project has become more vital for financing a
project.
Project appraisal the process of critical evaluation of all the six faces of the project appraisal namely:
1. Technical analysis
2. Financial analysis
3. Legal analysis
4. Market analysis
5. Management appraisal
6. Ecological appraisal.

2 Legal Analysis:
The collateral properties, guarantees and other legal legalities with respect to the regulations of the
government will be analysed and this creates basis for further processes for the financial assistance.
3 Financial Analysis: Financial appraisal seeks to ascertain whether the proposed project will be
functionally viable in the sense of being able to meet the burden of servicing debt and whether the
proposed project will satisfy the return/expectations of those who provide funds Financial appraisal
involves the following terms. o Capital cost of projects and sources of finance
o Financial projections Cash flow and profitability estimates
o Ratio analysis
o Breakeven point
o Discounted cash flow techniques net present value and internal rate of return.
Capital cost
Estimation of the capital cost of a project provides the basic information to decide its pattern of
financing and profitability. If the cost of the project is not estimated correctly, the preparation of cash
flow and profitability estimates will be futile exercise because the amount of depreciation, interest and
dividend will change with the change in capital cost of the project. An entrepreneur has to tie up the
resources according to the estimates of the cost of the project. If there is an overrun in the cost of the
project, the entrepreneur may find it difficult to arrange for additional resources and it

Defining Intelligence Essay
Intelligence is defined by the American Heritage Dictionary as being the capacity to acquire and apply
knowledge. When knowledge is spoken of, it is generally used in terms of education. The extent of
education a person has achieved is then what most often determines how much knowledge one has
accumulated. Nevertheless, with this definition of intelligence in mind, one might possibly consider
the average person to be intelligent. After all, even a person who has never gone to school a day in
their life is capable of acquiring knowledge and applying it to some area of their life. Acquiring and
applying knowledge could be something as simple as being shown how to mop a floor and then
conducting the job using the newly gained know how.

Children, for instance, all have different areas in which they excel. A child who excels in school and is
listed on the honor roll each term would obviously be considered intelligent. However, a child who is
very talented in music but obtains bad marks in school might not be deemed a smart child by the
average person; nevertheless, this child would also be considered intelligent.
Once a person has an idea of what intelligence is and what it means, a final thought one might
consider is what influences are responsible for the different types of intellect. Two possible influences
are genetics and the environment in which one lives, with genetics being the strongest influence
(Santrock, 2009, pg. 302). Most researchers agree that a person s genetics and environment interact
with one another to influence the outcome of that person s intelligence (Santrock, 2009, pg. 302).
Genetic influences should be pretty obvious, so there should be no need to explain it; a person s
environment on the other hand, can involve several factors. An environment can consist of elements
such as a person s school, home, friendships, family relationships, and workplaces. All of these
components factor in to influence a person s intelligence.
In conclusion, I must say that intelligence can certainly be considered a broad word. It is a word that
has varying definitions depending on the source from which the definition comes. The reason for this
seems to be because people

Jaguar Commercial Analysis

Media/Commercial Analysis
Marketing is defined as the activities of a company associated with buying and selling a product or
service, which includes advertising, selling and delivering products to people. People who work in
marketing departments of companies try to get the attention of target audiences by using slogans,
packaging design, celebrity endorsements and general media exposure. One of the most mainstream
tactics to market a product to a potential target market is by using TV commercials. The elements of

automotive brands , he s basically stating a fact to the consumers that our products are working and
appealing to many in the market for a luxury car. When the narrator goes on to say But they certainly

German car companies, the narrator is implying that Mercedes Benz, Audi, and BMW are aware that
Jaguar is on the rise and, based on the visual aspects of the ad, they are afraid of Jaguar. The
background music in the ad gives a sense of a suspenseful and dramtic ad. The music starts off slow
and calm, but deep and dark, sort of mysterious.
When the XFR meets the Benz, BMW, and Audi, the music starts to take a turn for a more dramatic
yet still suspenseful, the music builds more anticipation until the climax when the XFR roars and
scares the other cars away. Speaking of the roar , the engine
roars to give the Jaguar an extremely aggresive presence, more aggresive than the other 3 cars. This is
to make the XFR seem more exclusive and special than its more traditional rivals. Jaguar has a lot of
work to do if they want to take over the reigns from the likes of Mercedes, Audi, and BMW, but the
advertising campaign shows that they are ready to take on that

Gender Inequalities In Sports
The problem that this article addressed is the unequal attention that men get in the media compared to
women, specifically in sports. The purpose of this article was to see if men and women were getting
the same amount of media attention in college basketball. This study mainly looked to the coverage
that men and women college basketball got on the internet during the time of March Madness. This
study also focused on the biggest sports media program with ESPN. While the participation in sports
for women has increased tremendously since the title IX enactment, the coverage of women sports,
specifically on the internet, has not increased as tremendously. This article talks about how this can
affect young women. It says that while statistically males visit sports websites more, in the year the
article was published the growth of women visiting sports websites was more than men. If more
female athletes were shown on these sites it might lead to younger women wanting to lead healthier

Adam Smith s Economic Philosophy
If I was to create the perfect society today, I would use Adam Smith s economic philosophy. Adam
Smith is known today as a modern philosopher. In order for a society to prosper, Smith believed that
their economy would have to function as a capitalist economy. The perfect, most efficient, society
would include specifically Smith s capitalist ideas of the division of labor, the sufficient pay of
workers, and would not include the use of slavery. These ideas will make the perfect society prosper.
The most important component of having the perfect, most efficient society, would be the division of
labor. The division of labor consists of one person doing one small task, another person doing another
small task, and other workers continuing the same process until the final product is complete. An
example of this would be the use of an assembly line while making pins, as Smith mentions in his
book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. Smith explains that the larger
pin manufacture he saw with many workers, was more efficient than the small manufacture of only ten
employed workers who could make upwards of forty eight thousand pins in a day (Smith, 4). Smith
then goes on to explain that, But if they had all wrought separately and independently...in consequence
of a proper division and combination of their different operations (Smith, 4 5). Smith is saying that the
workers could have made more than forty eight thousand pins in a day if they divided there

The Election Of The Uk
In this essay, I will discuss whether elections in the UK are fair. The viewpoint which I will be arguing
for is viewpoint two: we need to make some sensible adjustments to elections by, for example,
encouraging people to vote electronically in order to discourage fraud but shouldn t change much else
other than that. I will also evaluate the other viewpoints and why I do not believe these viewpoints are
the key to making UK elections fairer and more just . As of now, the UK uses the first past the post
system in their elections; this means that the candidate with the most votes becomes the MP for their
constituency.
One sensible adjustment that I believe is necessary is lowering the voting age to 16. Currently, the
voting age is 18. I think this makes elections unfair as young adults are being excluded from
influencing the decision hence making the outcome of the election affect their lives the most. For
example, young adults are massively affected by government education policies, I think they have a
right to choose which candidate best represents their views and gives them the opportunity to achieve
the best future possible. Some people might argue that 16 and 17 year olds are not responsible enough
to make the right decisions in regard to who to elect; a candidate which would best benefit them in the
future . However, some would say that young adults are unaware of the realm of politics and would
not be able to make a suitable decision for the country as a whole or

Keeping Your Dog Healthy Essay
Many people believe when they purchase a dog all it needs is food and water and vaccinations really
aren t that important. Almost all pets need vaccinations that are crucial to their wellbeing. The price of
keeping pets healthy are quite high which is one reason why most owners refuse to get their pets
vaccinated, but the cost for vaccinations are nowhere near as expensive as the cost of treatment it
takes to get a sick pet well again
There are five vaccinations dogs need every year, Rabies, DAPP, Lyme, Bordetella, and Lepto. During

As of right now there are no tests that directly respond to the rabies virus but the fluorescent antibody
test is the most accurate at helping diagnosing this deadly virus. Unfortunately, there is not cure or
treatment for the rabies virus. Once your pet has been infected, if not vaccinated before hand, the only
option other than euthanasia is for the pet to be isolated and observed for 6 months and hope they
survive.
The DAPP (Distemper/Parvo) vaccination protects your dog from contracting the Parvovirus which
usually houses in the intestinal tract. The parvovirus can be transmitted by contact with an infected
dog, or even contact with infected feces, and infected feces can remain active in the ground for five to
seven months. The Parvovirus attacks the intestinal structure of the dogs organs and can lead to a
massive loss of proteins, blood and fluids usually the dog will become sick, losing its appetite,
vomiting, and having bloody diarrhea which will result in the pet becoming very lethargic. It usually
takes three to seven days for symptoms to show after being infected with the Parvovirus. The

The United States s Financial System
In the most basic definitions of economics, the United States s Financial system is broken down into
approximately five groups: the households, the firms, the market for factors of production, the market
of goods and services, and the government. Within these groups, there is a constant flow that
progresses in a circle through all of these groups in order to keep the economy running smoothly. This
system is based on the notion that both consumers and producers need to come together to transact.
However, buyers don t always have the money they need to buy supplies, and sellers don t always
have the money to produce products or provide services. When this occurs, it is important for both

Banks would also help investors buy into companies, including letting people buy ownership in the
banks. The whole idea was to allow money to flow through the economy based on economic
principles of supply and demand. If there is a demand for cars, for example, let s help auto companies
create a proper supply and help car buyers purchase the cars. The Banks would always take a percent
of the transaction as their fee, and this is how the banks made their money. In the US, the role of the
government was simply to make sure nobody was cheating, so that prices and transactions would be
based on supply and demand, not tricks. · Over time, banks began to shake their role of middle men
for transactions. Instead, they began packaging and selling an array of new Financial Assets that were
considerably intricate. Straying from their traditional role of simply providing loans, they began
selling their loans to other banks and financial institutions. Investments banks would also allow people
to make bets on the future and buy such bets if there was someone else who would bet on the other
side. Along with all these new found policies, they began to combine investment packages in an
attempt to lower the risks of borrowers not paying back what they were lent. In the past, the

How Is Sisyphus Similar
1). Phil s scenario is similar to Sisyphus because they are both stuck in a situation where they have to
repeat doing the same thing over and over. For example, Phil keeps reliving Groundhog Day while
Sisyphus has to roll a rock up a hill for eternity. Another example of how Phil s and Sisyphus
scenarios are similar is how they got themselves into repeating the same day over. Phil was rude to
people and did not enjoy the little aspects of life during his stay and news casting in Punxsutawney for
Groundhog Day. Unlike Phil, Sisyphus created many crimes that the gods did not appreciate. Phil s
scenario is different from Sisyphus because Phil got to change the way he wanted to act and the things
he wanted to do. For example, after he realized that he was going to keep reliving Groundhog s Day,
he decided to take advantage of the situation. On one of the days Phil decided to drive foolishly
around town with two drunks that he met at a bar and ends up in jail. Since he is reliving the same day

The Ultimate battle of Good vs Evil in Beowulf
The story of Beowulf involves a man who accomplishes many unbelievable feats. These feats help to
save the Danes from evil beasts. The idea of good and evil opposing one another has been a topic for
discussion since man s existence. This idea is seen all around us in movies (Superheroes vs Villains),
the world (ISIS), and religion (God is good, Satan is evil). The story of Beowulf is has the theme of
good versus evil imbedded into it also. Beowulf is an Old English epic that has many conflicts
between its characters, these conflicts between the characters give the theme of good versus evil in the
epic. The conflicts are more than just man versus self or man verves man. The conflicts are man
versus evil, as Beowulf is a man who is defending humanity from the beasts of hell. Beowulf along
with the rest of humanity is seen as the good , whereas the monsters are seen as the evil . Beowulf
unlike other famous warriors did not fight for his country against others like Achilles, he instead
fought against hellish monsters for the sake of man. There are symbols in the epic that represent good,
Beowulf himself is a symbol for good. There are outside sources that influence the conflict as well,
The Bible s story of Cain influences the readers to determine his spawns to be evil, as he was.
Throughout the novel one theme is extremely clear the theme of good versus evil, it is seen

Economics and the Problem of Utility Maximization
Within the field of economics, the utility maximization problem represents an attempt to quantify the
rationale used when consumers attempt to maximize the satisfaction, or utility, they derive from the
purchase of goods. With the typical predetermined budgetary restriction imposed on the process,
consumers must balance their own limited funds against their desire to obtain certain items. This
means that the eventual level of utility received from all potential affordable packages, and thus the
consumer s optimal choices, can be expressed via the equation x(p, w), where p is equal to a good s
price and w is equal to the consumer s wealth. The price of any given product must be considered
during any attempt to answer the utility maximization problem, because if , then u must be continuous
and no goods can be obtained free of charge (McEachern, 2010). In other words, because the two rules
dictating the boundaries of utility maximization within a two good model clearly state that the
marginal utilities per dollar must be equal and the consumer s entire budget must be exhausted, the
inclusion of goods which can be obtained free of charge skews any conclusions regarding the
consumer s eventual utility. A good which costs nothing will always provide more immediate
happiness than one which costs money, and this fact prohibits economists from effectively modeling
any two good comparisons between free and for cost items. As is typically the case for economics,
however, simple

  • 2. Multiple Independent Levels Of Security Architecture Another security measure is the implementation of the Multiple Independent Levels of Security Architecture (MILS). The MILS model is best used for high assurance systems as the structure of the model has stringent access controls and work flows which a regulated by a microprocessor. This model is simpler than others but offers tighter security. The MILS model is broken down into four components: A Separation Kernel, Middleware, Applications and a Partitioning Communications System. This structure is similar to other security models as they can have a security kernel which regulates drivers and applications. The aspects that separate the MILS model are its security policies and the way in which they are implemented. (OIS) Unlike the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Middleware is responsible for ensuring information sent out is properly defined labeled, filtering and damaging messages and ensuring the information flow restrictions are followed and remain intact. This level also contains device drivers, file systems POSIX which are traditionally located in the kernel of other security models (OIS, 2015). According to Objective Interface Systems, the Application Layer is responsible for enforcing application layer security policies (2015). These security polies can include encryption protection firewalls, and/or IDS settings. This layer is located on top of the middle layer. This layer is unique as the applications security can be evaluated on its own aside from the security of the entire system (Xining Yameng, 2012). The forth component of the system is the Partitioning Communication System (PCS). This component works in conjunction with the Middleware Layer and controls the interaction between the different MILS sections. The PCS provides end to end protection to the sections on the network not directly connected to the MILS. It assists with security for the information flow, data isolation. Periods processing and damage limitation (OIS, 2015). Advantages of MILS The MILS model has several advantages. The primary advantage to MILS is rooted in the system s design. The MILS model was designed for security thus making the architecture ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Positive Impact Of The Juvenile Justice System The Juvenile Justice system (JJS) is not beneficial to the civilians in the community.Young adults that have committed indescribable crimes are being released back into the community for a second chance. This is endangering the lives of other innocent people and is definitely not helping the juvenile in anyway.Kevin C Framingham has a very strong opinion in which he is agreeing with the way the JJS is ran. Mr. Framingham wrote an article For Teen Ink about how rehabilitating young criminals is an amazing idea. The article is called Punishment or Rehabilitation? . He answered the question many people ask What is the true aim of our prison system? The answer he gave was Their most important function must be to rehabilitate criminals into society so prisons can have a positive effect on inmates .This should not be the goal in our JJS. As of now, the JJS is rehabilitating murders, molesters, sexual assaulters, ect. These dangerous criminals are released back into the world. This is putting men, women, and children in danger everyday ,yet the JJS still does it. In the month of May,2015 two twelve year old girls stabbed their friend,Payton Leutner, nineteen times repeatedly.Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser said that they attempted to kill their friend to be accepted into the mansion of a fictional character that goes by the name of Slenderman .The two girls lured their dear friend into the woods where they stabbed her and then left her to die. • 4. The Stranger By Albert Camus Essay The Stranger was written by the French author Albert Camus, and was first published in 1942 in its indigenous French. It s described as being the most widely read French novel of the twentieth century, and has sold millions of copies in Britain and the United States alone. It s known by two titles; the other being The Outsider. The backstory to this is very interesting but, more importantly, the subtle difference in meaning between titles suggests certain resultant translative idiosyncrasies when reading the texts. The conciseness and terseness of the novel demands a very specific interpretation if one is to understand it correctly, and unless read in French some of the meaning is doubtless lost in translation . Even so, the main idea in The Stranger is readily accessible, and that idea is the philosophy behind meaning. Albert Camus tells states in his 1955 Preface to the American Edition of The Stranger: One would therefore not be much mistaken to read The Stranger as the story of a man who, without any heroics, agrees to die for the truth (Camus, 1955). The Stranger takes the reader on a journey that simultaneously questions meaning, and utilizes Meursault as a vehicle in finding it. Most analyses seem to define The Stranger as a foray into the Absurd , however, by the end of the novel Meursault does indeed, find meaning in his world, and we ve been led to comprehend that discovery by Camus. To validate this, we need to address how the text guides us to that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Fall Of The House Of Usher Effect Edgar Allan Poe once said that the artistry of narratives is in the ability to achieve a unity of effect (Clement, lecture notes). In his narrative The Fall of the House of Usher, a man gets a letter from an old friend who wants him to go to his family estate because he is sick. When he arrives, he notices that his friend and his sister are not the only ones affected by illness. It is obvious that the house is too. The illness leads to the death of the Ushers and also the destruction of the house. In The Fall of the House of Usher, Poe makes death and decay, as well as overall illness, his unity of effect. He creates this effect by using the different features of narratives. He establishes this effect through his narrator, the setting of the story, and the events that affect the characters. In this short narrative, there are many textual examples that enforce the effect of death, decay, and illness. In the succeeding paragraphs, I will be analyzing the style, setting, narrator, characters, and conflict of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the early time periods where oral narratives were the only form of story, narratives existed to teach a lesson or to illustrate a moral. In the medieval period, narratives were for entertainment. It wasn t until the nineteenth century that tales became about truth. Narratives like The Fall of the House of Usher aren t about teaching or entertaining. These narratives are about the message or experience that is being created through writing. They are about presenting readers with an effect that is made to be felt and thought about. In The Fall of the House of Usher readers are left with the feeling of death, decay, and illness because of Poe s use of language, story world, narrator, characters, and conflict. • 6. Britain Of The European Union The issue of Britain remaining in the European Union, and the consequences of a potential British exit sometimes shortened to Brexit from the European Union, have come to the forefront of public debate. While some say that Britain s egress from the EU would benefit it economically, others argue that the contrary is true, and that there would be detrimental economic consequences for Britain and Europe. In truth, the issue is much more complex and multifaceted. Brexit must be looked at in terms of its socioeconomic consequences on immigration, the job market, and trade; and also its political effects on British sovereignty. It has been claimed through the last coalition government, and the Labour government before that, that 3 3.5 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some studies have tried to assess the impact of EU regulations affecting businesses the EU being able to pass legislation on matters such as product specifications, competition, employment terms, health and safety, and consumer protection using Impact Assessments (IAs). Looking at a smaller number of regulations but with the largest associated costs, the British Chamber of Commerce estimated the costs of regulations annually to be £7.6 billion and the cost since 1998 being about £60.8 billion. Both studies reached a consensus that the Working Time Directive, the Pollution Directive, the Data Protection Directive and the Directive on the Sale of Consumer Goods were the most expensive regulations. But both Open Europe and the British Chamber of Commerce came to the conclusion that the benefit cost ratio of EU regulation was 1.02, while the benefit cost ratio of regulations imposed by the UK government was 2.35. Countries that are in the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries that are not in the European Union but do have access to the Single Market must abide by EU economic regulations. Joining the EFTA has provided an option for Britain to leave the EU but remain the Single Market. However, this leaves Britain in a quandary: do they accept the EU s regulations or risk being forced out of the Single Market? • 7. American Mariners History The early modern sea particularly the Atlantic can be characterized as a space of great instability. It was here that communication and trade between nations became easily accessible, but the lack of uniform maritime regulations and commercial competition fostered hostility between states, resulting in prolonged periods of war. One distinct product of this environment was pirates, who took to the high seas in search of ships to illegally capture and raid of their goods. For the great maritime nations of the 16th to 18th centuries, pirates were simply criminals that threatened the progress of the world economy, but history has shown that they were much more complex figures. At the same time as they were violent, ruthless, and defiant outlaws, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reasons for becoming or turning pirate have been widely theorized, and it seems as though a multitude of social, political, and economic factors were at play. On an individual level, the dangerous and almost inevitably fatal nature of piracy makes it improbable that one would join a crew if they felt as though they had other alternatives. Instead, it is more likely that piracy was a last resort refuge for a dejected class of sailors who did not fit in with normative cultural standards, but could not escape the fact that society dictated that they must work to survive regardless. Because piracy stemmed from a distinctly maritime class and not the general landed population, it is easier to understand why it may have been seen as a viable option. These men were already familiar with the principles of teamwork, harmony, and trust that were 2 necessary to survive on a ship, and their lengthy voyages often made them ill adjusted to life on land. There are two main reasons why a sailor would have crossed the line between legal and illegal maritime service: perceived injustice and peacetime layoffs. • 8. The Practices and History of Zoroastrianism Essay For centuries, Zoroastrianism was the leading religion of Persia (now Iran) before the modern Islamic religions came to be. Zoroastrianism is thought to be founded in 6th century BC by Zarathustra. Zoroastrians follow the sacred text called the Avesta; it is their Book of the Law. Zarathustra was a Persian prophet, when at age 30 claimed to have had visions of God. Zarathustra called God Ahura Mazda. Zoroastrianism quickly became the official religion of Persia, but came to an abrupt end in 637 AD at the time of the Muslim invasion. You will have hardships and hesitations, and that becomes another reason to want to win and overcome this game of life. There are a couple of arguments why life will never be fair and one is... Life will always be a competition for the best things, and two, our idea of fairness will always be what our interests are. Now you re thinking, Right! Being fair doesn t have to deal with competition or my interests! , but really it does. Since I have your attention, let s find out why. When we have a mind set on something, in which we have an interest in, we find ourselves awaiting for more that is unfair about that. Say you have an interest for good grades. When we have an interest in something like that, and we don t get what we wanted, we don t say Aww my bad. That was a mistake on my side. Instead we go straight to the unfair side. A study has shown that among survivors of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, which killed nearly 90,000 Chinese, those who lost family and friends were more likely than others to believe the universe was unfair. Yet those who continued to believe the universe was fair suffered the least anxiety and depression. This shows that when they had an interest in family and the earthquake took them away, their life became unfair. Correspondingly, you cannot go thinking that everything you have an interest in will always be fair, because it won t. You have to believe in the fair in the world and prosper from those ... Currently Obama has decided to keep the troops in Afghanistan until 2017, extending after his removal from office. According to the New York Times, his decision against the removal is an effort to counter terrorism attacks. Since 2001, after the attack on the twin towers, the US has been trying to fight against terrorism. After the attack, Al Qaeda and Bin Laden both hid in Afghanistan, making it a hideout for terrorists. Before 9/11, Bin Laden and Al Qaeda had formed relations with the Taliban. That means the 2015 fighting season was the first time Afghanistan s troops were officially tasked with defending their country with significantly reduced help from the U.S. It s a test for which the Afghans have in recent months appeared ill equipped. The US is currently playing a big role in Afghanistan, even with the 10,000 troops still there. Multiple aspects are at stake when considering the troops withdrawal from Afghanistan. Isis is a threat to America as well as a threat to Afghanistan. Even the Taliban doesn t agree with the beliefs of Isis, they are much more extreme than those of the Taliban. If we can help Afghanistan fight against Isis, we can help keep Isis from attacking the US. Within the past couple of days, Isis attacked Paris and the whole world is scared, because it wasn t an attack on Paris it was an attack on humanity itself. In the past there was also the aspect of oil that we could get from Afghanistan, but now trying to fight Isis is the biggest factor. He then goes on to state that poverty is a crime. A crime not committed by the poor, but rather the poor as victims of the crime. He also does not wholly blame those perpetrating the crime, he also gives a kind of notion that the victim has a hand the situation he or she finds themselves in. He says the poverty is a curse that not only the poor have but is on every level of society even the rich. He says the rich also suffer because it is like the air all the community breathes. He also brings up the point that if man having one life to live, should endeavor to live it to to fullest satisfaction and comfortability. He also brings to occasion the nature of working conditions in factories apparent. Henry George says that must of our lives will be spent at our places of work yet those places are little above prisons. The fines and punishments mated out were exorbitant. And it no better for a non factory person. But for three hours of the whole day to his or herself the rest are spent working. In a sense is it is the saying that people can t get time to even enjoy their own lives or the fruits of their labors. They are no better than machines for work only. He criticizes the proponents that say the working conditions are improving. The rate of pay increase is very insignificant to the cost of living. And he compares the working hours to the dark ages in which the people of the dark ages worked less. One thing people feared to disturb labor and production of sustenance was famine. Visible Minority And Immigrant Racism Visible Minority and Immigrant Racism in the Canadian Work Environment In the ideal world, every person is treated equally in the workplace whether it be hiring, promotion, assignments or termination. However in reality, racial discrimination and harassment remain pervasive in the workplace, with 1 in 4 visible minority workers who reported that they had experienced racial harassment or discrimination in the workplace [3]. In this essay, I will be discussing the social history of racism in the workplace, the nature of racism in the labour force, motives and factors, immigration policies, temporary programs and exploitation of employment, the de skilling of individuals and non recognition of foreign credentials, the social history of racism in the workplace, racism in the sociological conflict theory paradigm, and finally, policy recommendations to aimed to eliminate and decrease racism in the work environment. In the Canadian work environment, racism exists as a complex and multidimensional inequality for visible minorities and immigrants, and can be examined socially, economically and politically using the sociological Marxist conflict theory paradigm. The episode Stress Relief written by Paul Lieberstein is no exception. This episode was first aired on the 1st of February, 2009 to national audiences. One of the main scenes of the episode was the fire drill where a main character, Dwight Schrute, unhappy with the office s competence of fire safety decides to take matters in his own hands. He simulates a fire by burning some paper, creating chaos in the office. He blocks all exits and cuts the phone lines only further panicking his coworkers. At the time of writing of the episode, he had over 10 years of experience in the television business. He also plays the character Toby Flenderson in the show itself, meaning he gets to see both the writer s side and the actor s side of the show. As such as knowledgeable about the business and the show, his ethos is very apparently. Yet, he is technically behind the scenes as the writer of the show, meaning this credibility would not do much for the audience. Instead, he creates ethos for the show itself. His rhetorical strategy to do so relies heavily on creating an authentic image of what the average workplace looks like. Excluding this aspect would not only change the entire premise of the show but also tremendously weaken the satire he aims to present. Lieberstein persuades his audience by creating a realistic office based on his acknowledge of contemporary workplaces. With the help of the crew, he creates a set that is primarily in an antiseptic office building full of fluorescent lighting, nondescript cubicles, and buzzing fax machines (Birthsiel), much like a standard office. Additionally, the Office uses a mockumentary approach to their filming style. Rather than the standard recording format of shows, the filming style is designed to emulate a documentary. By doing this, the rather unconvincing idea of pointless daily recordings of an office becomes disguised with the façade of a film crew creating a documentary. This explanation of the recording makes the office seem natural and realistic. Ultimately, Lieberstein s use of the show s design is what gives himself and the show ... • 20. What Is The Purpose Of Electromyography Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Studies An electromyogram (EMG) gauges the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction. Nerve conduction studies (NCS) measure how well and how fast the nerves can send electrical signals. The nervous system is a complex, sophisticated system that regulates and coordinates body activities. It is made up of two major divisions: the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system (all other neural elements). The brain sends out signals through electrical signals called impulses that control the muscles of the body. Unfortunately, nerve and muscle problems cause the muscles to react in abnormal ways. The purpose of EMG/NCS is to localize where your symptoms are coming from. That can be pain, any kind of numbness and tingling, and/or weakness and the test is also good at assessing the severity of your symptoms. Typically, these studies are ordered when a patient is having some type of nerve symptom: pain, numbness and tingling or a burning sensation, and/or any type of weakness where a person can feel a change in muscle strength. ... When knowledge is spoken of, it is generally used in terms of education. The extent of education a person has achieved is then what most often determines how much knowledge one has accumulated. Nevertheless, with this definition of intelligence in mind, one might possibly consider the average person to be intelligent. After all, even a person who has never gone to school a day in their life is capable of acquiring knowledge and applying it to some area of their life. Acquiring and applying knowledge could be something as simple as being shown how to mop a floor and then conducting the job using the newly gained know how. What ... A child who excels in school and is listed on the honor roll each term would obviously be considered intelligent. However, a child who is very talented in music but obtains bad marks in school might not be deemed a smart child by the average person; nevertheless, this child would also be considered intelligent. Once a person has an idea of what intelligence is and what it means, a final thought one might consider is what influences are responsible for the different types of intellect. Two possible influences are genetics and the environment in which one lives, with genetics being the strongest influence (Santrock, 2009, pg. 302). Most researchers agree that a person s genetics and environment interact with one another to influence the outcome of that person s intelligence (Santrock, 2009, pg. 302). Genetic influences should be pretty obvious, so there should be no need to explain it; a person s environment on the other hand, can involve several factors. An environment can consist of elements such as a person s school, home, friendships, family relationships, and workplaces. All of these components factor in to influence a person s intelligence. In conclusion, I must say that intelligence can certainly be considered a broad word. It is a word that has varying definitions depending on the source from which the definition comes. • 32. Adam Smith s Economic Philosophy If I was to create the perfect society today, I would use Adam Smith s economic philosophy. Adam Smith is known today as a modern philosopher. In order for a society to prosper, Smith believed that their economy would have to function as a capitalist economy. The perfect, most efficient, society would include specifically Smith s capitalist ideas of the division of labor, the sufficient pay of workers, and would not include the use of slavery. These ideas will make the perfect society prosper. The most important component of having the perfect, most efficient society, would be the division of labor. The division of labor consists of one person doing one small task, another person doing another small task, and other workers continuing the same process until the final product is complete. An example of this would be the use of an assembly line while making pins, as Smith mentions in his book An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. Smith explains that the larger pin manufacture he saw with many workers, was more efficient than the small manufacture of only ten employed workers who could make upwards of forty eight thousand pins in a day (Smith, 4). • 33. The Election Of The Uk In this essay, I will discuss whether elections in the UK are fair. The viewpoint which I will be arguing for is viewpoint two: we need to make some sensible adjustments to elections by, for example, encouraging people to vote electronically in order to discourage fraud but shouldn t change much else other than that. I will also evaluate the other viewpoints and why I do not believe these viewpoints are the key to making UK elections fairer and more just . As of now, the UK uses the first past the post system in their elections; this means that the candidate with the most votes becomes the MP for their constituency. One sensible adjustment that I believe is necessary is lowering the voting age to 16. Currently, the voting age is 18. I think this makes elections unfair as young adults are being excluded from influencing the decision hence making the outcome of the election affect their lives the most. For example, young adults are massively affected by government education policies, I think they have a right to choose which candidate best represents their views and gives them the opportunity to achieve the best future possible. Some people might argue that 16 and 17 year olds are not responsible enough to make the right decisions in regard to who to elect; a candidate which would best benefit them in the future . However, some would say that young adults are unaware of the realm of politics and would not be able to make a suitable decision for the country as a whole or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The DAPP (Distemper/Parvo) vaccination protects your dog from contracting the Parvovirus which usually houses in the intestinal tract. The parvovirus can be transmitted by contact with an infected dog, or even contact with infected feces, and infected feces can remain active in the ground for five to seven months. • 35. The United States s Financial System In the most basic definitions of economics, the United States s Financial system is broken down into approximately five groups: the households, the firms, the market for factors of production, the market of goods and services, and the government. Within these groups, there is a constant flow that progresses in a circle through all of these groups in order to keep the economy running smoothly. This system is based on the notion that both consumers and producers need to come together to transact. However, buyers don t always have the money they need to buy supplies, and sellers don t always have the money to produce products or provide services. When this occurs, it is important for both investors and banks to offer aid in order to prevent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Banks would also help investors buy into companies, including letting people buy ownership in the banks. The whole idea was to allow money to flow through the economy based on economic principles of supply and demand. If there is a demand for cars, for example, let s help auto companies create a proper supply and help car buyers purchase the cars. The Banks would always take a percent of the transaction as their fee, and this is how the banks made their money. In the US, the role of the government was simply to make sure nobody was cheating, so that prices and transactions would be based on supply and demand, not tricks. · Over time, banks began to shake their role of middle men for transactions. Instead, they began packaging and selling an array of new Financial Assets that were considerably intricate. Straying from their traditional role of simply providing loans, they began selling their loans to other banks and financial institutions. Investments banks would also allow people to make bets on the future and buy such bets if there was someone else who would bet on the other side. Along with all these new found policies, they began to combine investment packages in an attempt to lower the risks of borrowers not paying back what they were lent. • 37. Louis Riel A Hero Louis Riel, a controversial man who ponders around Canada s mind judgement today, some may call him a traitor but for the most in fact he was a hero. He was one of the founding fathers that embraced and shaped our country to what we are today and not only that, he was a fighter that stood up for what he believed in and what he knew was best for the people because simply he cared about them. Although, at times his reasons were faulty, his selfless acts were far more recognizable than his prevailing mistakes that led him to execution in 1885 as he was judged guilty of alleged accusations of an unfair court of whom did not favour him. • 38. How Is Sisyphus Similar 1). Phil s scenario is similar to Sisyphus because they are both stuck in a situation where they have to repeat doing the same thing over and over. For example, Phil keeps reliving Groundhog Day while Sisyphus has to roll a rock up a hill for eternity. Another example of how Phil s and Sisyphus scenarios are similar is how they got themselves into repeating the same day over. Phil was rude to people and did not enjoy the little aspects of life during his stay and news casting in Punxsutawney for Groundhog Day. Unlike Phil, Sisyphus created many crimes that the gods did not appreciate. Phil s scenario is different from Sisyphus because Phil got to change the way he wanted to act and the things he wanted to do. For example, after he realized that he was going to keep reliving Groundhog s Day, he decided to take advantage of the situation. On one of the days Phil decided to drive foolishly around town with two drunks that he met at a bar and ends up in jail. Since he is reliving the same day many times, he decides to steal money from the money truck. Sisyphus however just gets stuck with continuously rolling the rock up the hill and he has to deal with his hour of consciousness . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Ultimate Battle Of Good Vs Evil Dylan Byington Mr. Reed English 2322 7 30 Nov. 2015 The Ultimate battle of Good vs Evil in Beowulf The story of Beowulf involves a man who accomplishes many unbelievable feats. These feats help to save the Danes from evil beasts. The idea of good and evil opposing one another has been a topic for discussion since man s existence. • 40. Economics and the Problem of Utility Maximization Within the field of economics, the utility maximization problem represents an attempt to quantify the rationale used when consumers attempt to maximize the satisfaction, or utility, they derive from the purchase of goods. With the typical predetermined budgetary restriction imposed on the process, consumers must balance their own limited funds against their desire to obtain certain items. This means that the eventual level of utility received from all potential affordable packages, and thus the consumer s optimal choices, can be expressed via the equation x(p, w), where p is equal to a good s price and w is equal to the consumer s wealth. The price of any given product must be considered during any attempt to answer the utility maximization problem, because if , then u must be continuous and no goods can be obtained free of charge (McEachern, 2010). In other words, because the two rules dictating the boundaries of utility maximization within a two good model clearly state that the marginal utilities per dollar must be equal and the consumer s entire budget must be exhausted, the inclusion of goods which can be obtained free of charge skews any conclusions regarding the consumer s eventual utility. A good which costs nothing will always provide more immediate happiness than one which costs money, and this fact prohibits economists from effectively modeling any two good comparisons between free and for cost items. As is typically the case for economics, however, simple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
