Production Process Evaluation
Research
For my research I conducted a survey and although a few of the responses
weren’t very helpful due to the people I asked not knowing what vaporwave is I
still had some helpful answers. The response that had the most influence on my
work can be seen on the right. By knowing that most people who answered my
survey would prefer to use the internet for information I knew I should tailor my
fanzine to work on the internet. I did this by using Issuu to upload my work and
tailored my artwork to fit the Issuu layout. By doing this the images I created
could be part of the fanzine as a collective or individual pieces that can be
uploaded elsewhere on the internet.
Another area of research helped in creating my fanzine
was the Aesthetica film magazine. By looking at the
layout of this I could get a very good understanding of
how I could present a look book style fanzine. Although
the content is very different to my own, the layout is very
similar with the borders around the individual images
and the double page spreads having 1 image pan
across both pages.
Research
Another area of research that helped with the production of my fanzine was looking at the colour schemes of other vaporwave
fanzines. By collecting the rough colour schemes of each of these front covers I could compare each colour scheme and pick out
the colours which would best fit my project. By doing this I can assure that my fanzine falls under the vaporwave theme by using the
same colours however it will be unique as I am taking inspiration from multiple different fanzine colour schemes.
One method of research that I didn’t
use which would have been very
useful for my project would have
been a focus group with my friends
who have an understanding of the
vaporwave genre. By having a focus
group id of been able to have a better
understanding of what people would
of wanted to see in my fanzine and
get more opinions from other
vaporwave fans.
Problem Solving
The main area of the problem solving section which assisted in the production
of my fanzine was the experiments themselves.
As you can see on the right I have an image from my fanzine on the top and I
have my experiment on the bottom. For this experiment I chose to look at the
VHS effect that I have seen on other pieces of vaporwave artwork. I found a
tutorial on YouTube and created my own VHS edit. When it came to creating
my own VHS edit I learnt how to utilise the wave feature in photoshop which
can also be seen in my finished fanzine image. I feel the experiment gave the
base knowledge on how to create the VHS effect and then I expanded that
knowledge when it came to creating my actual piece for my fanzine.
If I was to do anything different to my finished image I would use the same
style font as the experiment. I feel by having the font italic it adds to the wave
effect at the bottom and fits better with the image whereas mine just looks
placed on.
Problem Solving
The main area of the problem solving section which assisted in the production
of my fanzine was the experiments themselves.
As you can see on the right I have an image from my fanzine on the top and I
have my experiment on the bottom. For this experiment I chose to edit an
image in Lightroom to get this purple hue, vaporwave style image. I found a
tutorial on YouTube which I followed closely in order to achieve a very similar
style edit. As you can see there is a definite similarity between the images. By
doing this experiment it helped me massively as it gave a basic run down of
all the development tools that are in Lightroom. I could then apply the
knowledge I got from this tutorial onto multiple different pieces of artwork
throughout my fanzine.
There is some noticeable differences between the images however. This is
due to the photos I took being of solely plants and nature whereas my
experiment incorporates more suburban themes.
Problem Solving
The main area of the problem solving section which assisted in the production
of my fanzine was the experiments themselves.
As you can see on the right I have an image from my fanzine on the top and I
have my experiment on the bottom. For this edit I created a title in the
vaporwave style. I found a tutorial on YouTube which I followed closely in
order to achieve the same style title. I then used the same style of text and
layout for my own piece in my fanzine. I feel by doing the experiment first I
could get a good idea of which colours the design worked well with and what
kind of background would be needed to compliment the title. By doing the
experiment I concluded that the pink worked well best with a darker
background which I used in my own fanzine. This can be seen at the top right
of this page.
If I was to improve on my title design in my fanzine I would try use the same
chrome design as my experiment. I feel the experiment chrome effect is much
more noticeable and clearer.
Planning
One of the areas of my planning which really helped with my production was the planning I
did on the locations. Although I planned to go to 3 locations I could only go to 2 of them.
By looking into each location in detail I could figure out which location would be the best for
my project. I came to the conclusion that Sheffield Botanical Gardens and the Sheffield
Outdoor Gardens would be my best options. This is because I could go to both of them in
the same day and the travel cost was also cheaper for Sheffield. This is something I also
learnt through my planning.
The collection of images are very similar to the images I took which was good because it
shows that I went to a location that met the requirements for my photoshoot.
Also by planning where I should take my photos it meant I didn’t have to waste any of my
time or my models time by walking about a city looking for places to take pictures. Instead I
knew exactly where I wanted to go ad what pictures I wanted to take.
Planning
Another area of my planning that impacted my final product
was my layout plans. This was probably one of the most
important areas of my planning as it allowed me have a
good idea of my end goal and have it visualised in a simple,
layout plan.
For this layout plan I focused on my front cover. As you can
see I kept the idea of having the masthead split, the centre
box for the images and the bottom text positioning.
The differences however come from how in my layout plan I
wanted the images to bleed outside of the centre box
however when it came to production and with the graphics I
decided that this wouldn’t look that good and it would be
better to keep everything uniformed and inside the box.
Planning
Another area of my planning that impacted my final product was my layout
plans. This was probably one of the most important areas of my planning as it
allowed me have a good idea of my end goal and have it visualised in a
simple, layout plan.
For this layout I focused on my VHS edit. The obvious similarities is the
positioning of the text, the waves and ripples and the overall distortion to the
image. In my layout plan I also decided to split the image down the centre
which I also did in my final production.
I hadn’t decided on the colour I wanted to use for the background whilst
creating the layout plan as the background colour would depend on the image
itself. I decided to use a lilac for the background in my fanzine as this
complemented the colours in the image.
Planning
Another area of my planning that impacted my final product was my layout
plans. This was probably one of the most important areas of my planning as it
allowed me have a good idea of my end goal and have it visualised in a
simple, layout plan.
For this layout I focused on the nature edits. This is a near exact layout plan
which I stuck too very closely. This is because I was very happy with how the
layout plan looked and how the background colour worked well with the
purple hue from the images. Although the subjects of the images ae obviously
different I still used 2 images with strong purple hues in my layout plan to get
a good understanding of how my finished piece would look.
Technical Problems
One of the main technical problems I faced when creating
my fanzine was that I couldn’t use Adobe Illustrator which is
a program that would have been useful in the production of
my fanzine. An example of this was when I wanted to create
a skyline scene to use as a background for one of my
images. I looked on YouTube to try and find a tutorial that
had similar results to what I was planning however I found all
of these tutorials required me to use Adobe Illustrator. Due to
my Adobe package not having Illustrator on it I couldn’t
follow the tutorials. Although I could have used photoshop to
get similar results they wouldn’t have been to a quality I am
happy with. Illustrator has very useful tools when creating
flat, cartoon style images which is what I wanted from my
skyline however I was unable to do any of this due to not
having access to Illustrator.
Due to not having Adobe Illustrator available I decided to
change the design of the background to an image I found on
google images as I couldn’t create the skyline. If I was going
to create my product again I would try get a copy of
Illustrator as I feel the skyline would look very good as a
background for my fanzine.
Management Problems
One of the management issues I faced was going to all the locations I highlighted in my planning document. Due to leaving the train
booking too late the prices to go to Manchester were too high and therefor me and my model, Amber couldn’t afford to travel there.
By missing out on going to Manchester I feel my work had less variety as the only places I went to were very nature orientated. If I
went to Manchester I would have been able to get much more urban shots for my project which would of added a wider variety to
my work. If I was to change anything next time I would book all my trips further in advance to get the cheapest train travel.
Another management problem throughout this project was time management. Although I made a Gannt chart as well as writing out
a production schedule on my proposal I still found myself finishing work at home and on weekends. I also found myself starting new
sections of this project before finishing the previous section. For example before production I would still have work to finish on my
research yet we’d be starting the experiments section of the project. I feel if I was to change anything it would be to have a more
detailed Gannt chart as well as creating a realistic schedule which I know I will be able to stick to. Although even if I do all this I still
have to make sure I stick to it and don’t spend as much time talking in class and not focusing.
Emotional Problems
Personally the main emotional problem throughout this project for me was the peer evaluation in which we got peers in another
class to answer some questions I made evaluating my work. We also had to answer other peoples questions based on their work.
By doing this I could look at other peoples work that the other class produced and after doing this I realised my work is not to a
similar standard and therefor I need to work to a much higher standard.
When we evaluated our week I had only taken the pictures from Sheffield Botanical Gardens, completed the Front Page, completed
the paint.exe page and half completed the Contents Page and Vapor_Wave pages. However after seeing how much other people
have produced I knew I had to work a lot harder if I wanted to achieve at least a Merit which is what I'm aiming for. In the weeks
following the peer evaluation I completed both the Contents Page, Vapor_Wave page as well as created 4 more double page
spread, 4 single pages and a back cover.
I am very happy we did this peer evaluation as it made me realise how I need to work harder and focus more if I wanted to achieve
a grade I would be happy with.
Production Evaluation
Production Evaluation – Front Page
Here are the steps I took for creating my front cover for my vaporwave fanzine. I am very happy
with how this front cover turned out as it showcases many vaporwave themes before you even
look through the fanzine. I tried to use well known vaporwave images such as the Helios statue
as well as including my own artwork that I feel fits in with the vaporwave theme. The colours I
have used for this front cover are the 2 most common colours used in vaporwave artwork and it
emphasises the vaporwave genre in my fanzine.
If I was to edit any of this front cover I may choose to edit the masthead slightly so it has more of
a presence on the page. I believe the basic white font works however a stroke/outer glow could
have been added to make it pop off the page a bit better.
Production Evaluation – Page 1 & 2
Here are the steps I took for creating page 1 and 2 of my fanzine. I am also very
happy with how these pages turned out as I again think it has a very strong
vaporwave theme which is the aim I was going for in my fanzine. I feel
everything across the double page fits quite well together due to me sicking to a
specific colour scheme of only a few colours. I have used images that are
closely linked to the vaporwave genre such as the Helios statue, the Arizona
Iced Tea and the ring dolphins. By using these images it ties the whole double
page spread into the vaporwave genre very well.
If I was to make any improvements to this page I would most likely change the
title Contents to something that stands out more. I feel the colours that I
selected for this don’t stand out that well and it isn’t enough of a focus on the
page. Even though I don’t want it to be a main focus of the page I still would like
it to have more of a presence.
Production Evaluation – Page 3 & 4
Here are the steps I took for creating page 3 and 4 of my fanzine. This I feel is
one of the more weaker images I created. The overall theme of the image fits
very well with vaporwave genre, this is because of the blue grid which takes
strong inspiration from the 1982 film Tron which is frequently referenced
throughout the vaporwave genre. Most of the colours also work in terms of
linking this piece to the vaporwave genre.
If I was to make any improvements to this image I would edit the word wave that
is in the centre of the image. The text of this image is meant to be the main
focus however I think the design on the word wave doesn’t fit very well with the
rest of the image. I feel if I was to change the colour of the chrome texture it
would fit better with the overall image.
Production Evaluation – Page 5 & 6
Here is the complete copy of page 5 and 6 of my fanzine. The
bottom screenshot shows the original image that I edited. Overall I
am quite happy with how this image has turned out. The effect I
used was the same as what I learnt from one of my experiments.
The glitch effect ties in very well with the vaporwave theme as well
as the colours that I have used. As you can see from the original
image I have changed the main colours of the image to fit better
with the theme of my fanzine.
If I was to make any improvements to this image I would probably
add some other images to the foreground and treat the VHS image
as a background. This is due to the simplicity of the overall image. I
feel like there is no main subject of this image unlike with the other
VHS filter image where I have my model, Amber off to the side of
the image.
Production Evaluation – Page 7 & 8
Here are the steps I took for creating page 7 and 8 of my fanzine. I am very
happy with the overall look of this image I feel it was of the most unique pieces I
have created and takes a lot of inspiration from a different area of the
vaporwave genre. I am also happy with the attention to detail I put in by
changing the names of files, the start menu and the error messages. The edit I
did on the image of my model Jack was also something I'm very happy with as it
was my first time using the liquify tool which turned out very well.
If I was to change anything to this image I would possibly add more old school
windows references across the image. There are a few areas of blank space
where I could include other windows, icons and error messages.
Production Evaluation – Page 9 & 10
Here are the steps I took for creating page 9 and 10 of my fanzine. The pictures
I edited here were all taken by me in the Sheffield Botanical Gardens. Both
images were edited in Lightroom which was a program I hadn’t used before
starting this project. I am quite happy with how both images turned out however
I feel because of the lighting from inside the botanical gardens I couldn’t achieve
the exact same effect as my experiment which would have been ideal.
If I was to make any improvements to this I would try and match the colours of
the images better as you can see a difference in hues and colour between the 2
images. I feel by having
both images being edited
inn exactly the same way
would give off a more
uniformed look and would
connect both pieces
better.
Production Evaluation – Page 11 & 12
Here are the steps I took for creating page 11 and 12 of my fanzine. I feel this is
one of my stronger pieces despite its simplicity. I think this because it is very
fitting with the vaporwave theme. I could easily see this as a desktop
background due to its link to the original desktop background. I feel the colours
work well as they take the vaporwave colour scheme and apply it to an image
whilst still keeping the image somewhat semi realistic. For example the grass is
still a shade of green which means the original image doesn’t lose its meaning
in the edit.
If I was to change anything to this image I would add a wider variety of palm tree
style taken from multiple different designs creating a less uniformed image.
Other than that I wouldn’t like to add anything else to the image as I feel this
would take away from its simplicity.
Production Evaluation – Page 13 & 14
Here are the steps I took for creating page 13 and 14 of my fanzine. This is
probably my favourite piece of my whole project. I took the picture of my model
Amber whilst at the Sheffield Botanical Gardens and completely changed the
style of the image yet still keeping the main body of the original image. Creating
the nebula scene was very fun as well as it gave me a lot of room for
customisation and tailoring the image to my needs. Another thing that I am very
happy with is the hue of the original image being changed to purple to give the
effect that the nebula is actually outside the window and is changing the colour
of the inside door.
If I was to make any improvements to this image it would be to keep the image
whole instead of splitting it down the middle as I feel it separates an image that
would look much better as a whole image.
Production Evaluation – Page 15 & 16
Here are the steps I took for creating page 15 and 16 of my fanzine. The
pictures I edited here were all taken by me in the Sheffield Botanical Gardens.
Both images were edited in Lightroom which was a program I hadn’t used
before starting this project. I am quite happy with how both images turned out
however I feel because of the lighting from inside the botanical gardens I
couldn’t achieve the exact same effect as my experiment which would have
been ideal.
If I was to make any improvements to this double page spread I would probably
add more vaporwave
themed images to this
pictures and treat them
more as a background
that a main focus of the
page. The reason I would
do this is because the
style of the double page
can be seen only a few
pages before this and I
feel having these as
backgrounds to different
images would add more
variation to my fanzine.
Production Evaluation – Page 17 & 18
Here is the complete copy of page 17 and 18 of my fanzine. The
bottom screenshot shows the original image that I edited. Overall I
am quite happy with how this image has turned out. The effect I
used was the same as what I learnt from one of my experiments.
The glitch effect ties in very well with the vaporwave theme as well
as the colours that I have used. As you can see from the original
image I have changed the main colours of the image to fit better
with the theme of my fanzine. In comparison to the previous VHS
filter image in my fanzine, I feel this is the best as the ripples and
waves seem to flow better and look a lot more natural.
If I was to make any improvements to this image I would probably
add more waves and ripples to the centre of the image. Although
this doesn’t give an authentic VHS look I feel it would create more
layers of distortion which would fit very well with the overall
aesthetic of the fanzine.

Feedback 1
• What are your favourite aspects of my fanzine so far and why?
I think the front cover looks aesthetically pleasing and is very well edited, as there are lots of features and edits to look at which
really adds to the overall appearance. I also like the aesthetics of the second pages as I think all of the colours work well together.
• How would you edit the photos in slide (8) in order to fit with my theme?
I think the idea that you have to edit the images is a good idea, and if you was to stick to the same colour scheme it would look
really good when it is all put together.
• So far with my fanzine do you think it follows the vaporwave theme and why?
There is a good consistency with the pages as they all look like they belong to the same fanzine which is really beneficial.
• Would you like to see more edited nature photos (e.g. slide ) or more images like the ones I've already created and why?
I think an equal mixture of the two would be good, as it would balance out the content.
(If I was to be really picky of the front cover it would be that the title isn't completely in the middle at the top as the word vapour goes further out than the
centre image and the word wave sits within the boundary line of the centre image if that makes sense.)
Feedback 2
• What are your favourite aspects of my fanzine so far and why?
I love the image on page 9. it reminds my of when you just leave a party and you still have the buzz of the excitement and the lights
but now are just starting to feel a little worries walking down a creepy ally way. Its cool.
• How would you edit the photos in slide (8) in order to fit with my theme?
Not gonna lie I'm not entirely sure what vapour wave is so I don’t know if this is right but you could take elements of the images and
resize, flip or recolor them in any way you want. Or you could replace them with different things for example take out a tree and
replace it with an inflatable tree or a broccoli or something totally unrelated like a sheep. I don’t know tho. or for example a real
image of a field but with edited plastic sheep or cartoon cows in it.
• So far with my fanzine do you think it follows the vaporwave theme and why?
Each page is consistent and It looks like they all belong in the same fanzine. I'm not sure what vapour wave is but it looks cool. I like
the colours and the creativity in each page.
• Would you like to see more edited nature photos (e.g. slide 8) or more images like the ones I've already created and why?
I think overall there should be an even split but I personally would like to see more nature photos. Or to see you combine the two in
one image, having a nature photo with certain elements of it edited.
Feedback 3
• What are your favourite aspects of my fanzine so far and why?
My favourite would be slide 9 as it doesn’t look like it’s a street in the UK. The street looks very American or very movie like.
• How would you edit the photos in slide (8) in order to fit with my theme?
I had to research what vaporwave is and I think if you recolour them or use the one filter in filter gallery that has that kind of look to
it. Another way would be to use the hue/saturation/colour balance etc.
• So far with my fanzine do you think it follows the vaporwave theme and why?
I don’t understand slide 3 and what that has to do with the rest of your work. However, your fanzine does follow the theme as it has
the bright colours. Each image doesn’t look the same which is good.
It’s very psychedelic.
• Would you like to see more edited nature photos (e.g. slide) or more images like the ones I've already created and why?
I would as I haven’t images like this before so it would be good to see more.

• What are your favourite aspects of my fanzine? Why do you think this?
I especially enjoyed the paint.exe piece. As well as being cleanly edited, it incorporated a sense of wit and creativity through the
renaming of various icons and text. I thought the little details such as the desktop items spelling out a sentence and the “Start”
button instead saying “Stop” were particularly clever. I also liked the Nebula_Doorway photo. The piece had an innovative flair and
deviated somewhat from the usual vaporwave “templates” so to speak. The idea was clever and looked good, the plants towards
the sides of the photo were complementary to the piece – a nice touch. The front cover is very sleek, not too cluttered yet still
engaging. The dripping paint on the statue is original and works well. I liked the image of the hand, the effects applied to it hand
allowed it to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the photo. Another thing I liked was how a couple of the photos displayed dates in
the 1980s. This was a subtle detail but good because the vaporwave theme Is themed around the 1980s and 1990s.
• What are your least favourite aspects of my fanzine? Why do you think this?
As much as I enjoyed the Nebula_Doorway photo, there were a few features which, in my opinion, could have been omitted to
make a more polished finish. I felt the bolts on the doors as well as the fire alarm/signs (to the right) detracted slightly from the
aesthetic of the photo. These objects are mundane and dull which could be great if they appeared to be deliberately contrasted with
the vaporwave theme, however I felt they were not emphasised enough to make their placement seem intentional. I felt each of the
sections had their own unique flavour except two of the nature shots (the ones featuring a path through exotic-looking trees). They
felt quite similar because they shared the same camera angle, height and both feature a path through similar looking plants/trees –
it seemed like the same “idea”.
• Do you think my fanzine as a whole fits in with the vaporwave theme? Why do you think this?
Absolutely, the square grids, nature and windows 95 features are classic themes in vaporwave which Is the sort of thing I would
want to see as a fan of vaporwave. The statue pieces (shown on front and back covers) and the macintosh pro (back) are core to
the vaporwave brand. The paint.exe section is an example of a certain aspect used in some vaporwave pieces which involves dark
or off-putting themes being featured in a satirical and or desensitised way.
• If I was to add anything to this fanzine, what would you suggest I add? E.g. more heavily edited pictures or more nature themed
photos?
The fanzine features some edited photos of nature (Nature_Edit_1-4). These are enjoyable however I would be interested to see a
more adventurously edited photo of nature, for example with objects or text superimposed on to the image. This would be an
opportunity to exhibit creativity by using text/objects which complement the image of nature in a clever way.
Peer Feedback – Owen Sandles
• What are your favourite aspects of my fanzine? Why do you think this?
My favourite aspect is how the flow of the photos completely changes (e.g. computer screen -> nature) but all keep the same
aesthetic. I think this is because I would find it boring if all of the similar pictures were grouped together.
• What are your least favourite aspects of my fanzine? Why do you think this?
My least favourite aspect is how similar some of the pictures are. I think this because some of the photos, when I looked at them I
thought I’d already seen them.
• Do you think my fanzine as a whole fits in with the vaporwave theme? Why do you think this?
I think the fanzine definitely fits in with the vaporwave theme. I think this because all of the photos capture the colour pallete of
vaporwave and also contain lots of iconic vaporwave style imagery, such as the old style windows operating system and the statue
bust.
• If I was to add anything to this fanzine, what would you suggest I add? E.g. more heavily edited pictures or more nature themed
photos?
If you were to add anything to the fanzine, I would suggest a page with things like music recommendations, new music updates,
and shoutouts to some other vaporwave artists.
Peer Feedback – Danny Aitken
• What are your favourite aspects of my fanzine? Why do you think this?
My favourite aspect is the use of purple hues over a green area as it creates an interesting vibrancy, and i like the use of a botanical
garden that I've been to personally because it alters a perspective of somewhere I've already visited.
• What are your least favourite aspects of my fanzine? Why do you think this?
I would like to see a wider variety of different environments rather than just one particular garden could allow for more creative
variance.
• Do you think my fanzine as a whole fits in with the vaporwave theme? Why do you think this?
Your zine fits perfectly with the overall vaporwave art theme, there are no outstanding details that take away from that theme and it
stays true to its nature, because of the use of shades and colours, as well as digital scenes and common vaporwave objects.
• If I was to add anything to this fanzine, what would you suggest I add? E.g. more heavily edited pictures or more nature themed
photos?
If I had to add more I'd add more nature shots.

Public Feedback - Issuu
Here are the statistics from Issuu where I uploaded
my complete fanzine. As you can see I have 81
reads and 248 impressions. The reads show how
many people looked at my fanzine for more than 2
seconds. The impressions shows how many times
people had the option to look at the fanzine for
example if it came up on a related search. Using
these statistics I can conclude that roughly 32% of
people who saw my fanzine ended up reading it. I
am very happy with this statistic as it shows that my
front cover is attracting people to view my fanzine.
The average time spent on my fanzine is 6 minutes
and 48 seconds which is also very positive as it
shows people are taking time to look through each
piece of artwork and isn’t just flicking through the
whole thing. I am going to keep my publication on
Issuu and these numbers are only going to grow as
more people view my fanzine.
Public Feedback - Reddit
Here I added my front cover to Reddit. I have been
subscribed to the r/VaporwaveArt subreddit for
some time now however I have never made a post
on it. Due to this being a very niche subreddit with
only 45,000 readers I never expected to get a
massive amounts of upvotes. I was very happy with
18 upvotes and it is worth noting that when I first
uploaded this to Reddit it ended up being 5th top of
the front page of this subreddit. The fact I got
upvotes alone and it didn’t get removed shows that
this piece is recognised as vaporwave artwork
which was the main aim for this fanzine.
Public Feedback - Reddit
Here are 2 more pieces that I uploaded to the r/VaporwaveArt
subreddit. Both pieces didn’t do as well with upvotes as the front cover
I uploaded however I never expected any post to gain a large amount
of upvotes. As I said earlier the fact my posts even got upvotes in a
subreddit that is usually very strict with its posts, due to its active
admins, just the fact it has been posted on the subreddit and has any
amount of upvotes shows that it is fitting with the vaporwave theme as
that is the main aim from my fanzine.
Public Feedback – DeviantArt
The final way I put my work out into the public eye
was through DeviantArt. I uploaded my whole
fanzine in individual double page spreads and as
you can see some of my pieces got noticed by other
users who saved my creations to their favourites.
The pieces that did the best was page 5 & 6 as well
as 7 & 8. Page 5 & 6 which I thought was one of my
weaker pieces ended up being one of my most
popular pieces. I feel this was because would see
this individual piece and like the overall look of it
however they may not know that it is meant to be in
the style of vaporwave or part of a larger collective
fanzine. Page 7 & 8 was my highest rated piece on
DeviantArt and this was a piece I expected to do
quite well. I feel it is quite unique in terms of design
and overall look as well as the attention to detail in
the areas such as the error messages.
Summary
Summary
To summarise my whole project I would say I'm very happy with how my final product has turned out. I feel like I created a fanzine
that fits in very well with the vaporwave genre and incorporates many different vaporwave styles which is unique to my fanzine. I
feel I managed the work load well and have got everything done to a standard I am happy with in the time that was allocated for this
project.
After speaking to multiple different sources and collecting feedback from a range of different online. sources I would say that others
support my view in that I have created a vaporwave fanzine that has a very professional feel. I am especially happy with the
feedback I got from the likes of DeviantArt and Reddit. Some of my artwork that has been uploaded got to the top 5 posts of the
VaporwaveArt subreddit as well as getting multiple favourites on some of my artwork on DeviantArt.
There are areas of my fanzine which I could have improved on if I was to repeat this project again. One of these areas is time
management and although I completed all my work on time to a standard I am very happy with I did find myself doing a lot more
work in the second half of the project. This is because at the beginning of the project I found myself getting easily distracted and
falling behind at some points however after looking at other peoples work during the peer evaluation section I relaised I need to put
in more work if I am to produce anything to that level.

Evaluation of Vaporwave Fanzine Production Process

  • 3. Research For my research I conducted a survey and although a few of the responses weren’t very helpful due to the people I asked not knowing what vaporwave is I still had some helpful answers. The response that had the most influence on my work can be seen on the right. By knowing that most people who answered my survey would prefer to use the internet for information I knew I should tailor my fanzine to work on the internet. I did this by using Issuu to upload my work and tailored my artwork to fit the Issuu layout. By doing this the images I created could be part of the fanzine as a collective or individual pieces that can be uploaded elsewhere on the internet. Another area of research helped in creating my fanzine was the Aesthetica film magazine. By looking at the layout of this I could get a very good understanding of how I could present a look book style fanzine. Although the content is very different to my own, the layout is very similar with the borders around the individual images and the double page spreads having 1 image pan across both pages.
  • 4. Research Another area of research that helped with the production of my fanzine was looking at the colour schemes of other vaporwave fanzines. By collecting the rough colour schemes of each of these front covers I could compare each colour scheme and pick out the colours which would best fit my project. By doing this I can assure that my fanzine falls under the vaporwave theme by using the same colours however it will be unique as I am taking inspiration from multiple different fanzine colour schemes. One method of research that I didn’t use which would have been very useful for my project would have been a focus group with my friends who have an understanding of the vaporwave genre. By having a focus group id of been able to have a better understanding of what people would of wanted to see in my fanzine and get more opinions from other vaporwave fans.
  • 5. Problem Solving The main area of the problem solving section which assisted in the production of my fanzine was the experiments themselves. As you can see on the right I have an image from my fanzine on the top and I have my experiment on the bottom. For this experiment I chose to look at the VHS effect that I have seen on other pieces of vaporwave artwork. I found a tutorial on YouTube and created my own VHS edit. When it came to creating my own VHS edit I learnt how to utilise the wave feature in photoshop which can also be seen in my finished fanzine image. I feel the experiment gave the base knowledge on how to create the VHS effect and then I expanded that knowledge when it came to creating my actual piece for my fanzine. If I was to do anything different to my finished image I would use the same style font as the experiment. I feel by having the font italic it adds to the wave effect at the bottom and fits better with the image whereas mine just looks placed on.
  • 6. Problem Solving The main area of the problem solving section which assisted in the production of my fanzine was the experiments themselves. As you can see on the right I have an image from my fanzine on the top and I have my experiment on the bottom. For this experiment I chose to edit an image in Lightroom to get this purple hue, vaporwave style image. I found a tutorial on YouTube which I followed closely in order to achieve a very similar style edit. As you can see there is a definite similarity between the images. By doing this experiment it helped me massively as it gave a basic run down of all the development tools that are in Lightroom. I could then apply the knowledge I got from this tutorial onto multiple different pieces of artwork throughout my fanzine. There is some noticeable differences between the images however. This is due to the photos I took being of solely plants and nature whereas my experiment incorporates more suburban themes.
  • 7. Problem Solving The main area of the problem solving section which assisted in the production of my fanzine was the experiments themselves. As you can see on the right I have an image from my fanzine on the top and I have my experiment on the bottom. For this edit I created a title in the vaporwave style. I found a tutorial on YouTube which I followed closely in order to achieve the same style title. I then used the same style of text and layout for my own piece in my fanzine. I feel by doing the experiment first I could get a good idea of which colours the design worked well with and what kind of background would be needed to compliment the title. By doing the experiment I concluded that the pink worked well best with a darker background which I used in my own fanzine. This can be seen at the top right of this page. If I was to improve on my title design in my fanzine I would try use the same chrome design as my experiment. I feel the experiment chrome effect is much more noticeable and clearer.
  • 8. Planning One of the areas of my planning which really helped with my production was the planning I did on the locations. Although I planned to go to 3 locations I could only go to 2 of them. By looking into each location in detail I could figure out which location would be the best for my project. I came to the conclusion that Sheffield Botanical Gardens and the Sheffield Outdoor Gardens would be my best options. This is because I could go to both of them in the same day and the travel cost was also cheaper for Sheffield. This is something I also learnt through my planning. The collection of images are very similar to the images I took which was good because it shows that I went to a location that met the requirements for my photoshoot. Also by planning where I should take my photos it meant I didn’t have to waste any of my time or my models time by walking about a city looking for places to take pictures. Instead I knew exactly where I wanted to go ad what pictures I wanted to take.
  • 9. Planning Another area of my planning that impacted my final product was my layout plans. This was probably one of the most important areas of my planning as it allowed me have a good idea of my end goal and have it visualised in a simple, layout plan. For this layout plan I focused on my front cover. As you can see I kept the idea of having the masthead split, the centre box for the images and the bottom text positioning. The differences however come from how in my layout plan I wanted the images to bleed outside of the centre box however when it came to production and with the graphics I decided that this wouldn’t look that good and it would be better to keep everything uniformed and inside the box.
  • 10. Planning Another area of my planning that impacted my final product was my layout plans. This was probably one of the most important areas of my planning as it allowed me have a good idea of my end goal and have it visualised in a simple, layout plan. For this layout I focused on my VHS edit. The obvious similarities is the positioning of the text, the waves and ripples and the overall distortion to the image. In my layout plan I also decided to split the image down the centre which I also did in my final production. I hadn’t decided on the colour I wanted to use for the background whilst creating the layout plan as the background colour would depend on the image itself. I decided to use a lilac for the background in my fanzine as this complemented the colours in the image.
  • 11. Planning Another area of my planning that impacted my final product was my layout plans. This was probably one of the most important areas of my planning as it allowed me have a good idea of my end goal and have it visualised in a simple, layout plan. For this layout I focused on the nature edits. This is a near exact layout plan which I stuck too very closely. This is because I was very happy with how the layout plan looked and how the background colour worked well with the purple hue from the images. Although the subjects of the images ae obviously different I still used 2 images with strong purple hues in my layout plan to get a good understanding of how my finished piece would look.
  • 12. Technical Problems One of the main technical problems I faced when creating my fanzine was that I couldn’t use Adobe Illustrator which is a program that would have been useful in the production of my fanzine. An example of this was when I wanted to create a skyline scene to use as a background for one of my images. I looked on YouTube to try and find a tutorial that had similar results to what I was planning however I found all of these tutorials required me to use Adobe Illustrator. Due to my Adobe package not having Illustrator on it I couldn’t follow the tutorials. Although I could have used photoshop to get similar results they wouldn’t have been to a quality I am happy with. Illustrator has very useful tools when creating flat, cartoon style images which is what I wanted from my skyline however I was unable to do any of this due to not having access to Illustrator. Due to not having Adobe Illustrator available I decided to change the design of the background to an image I found on google images as I couldn’t create the skyline. If I was going to create my product again I would try get a copy of Illustrator as I feel the skyline would look very good as a background for my fanzine.
  • 13. Management Problems One of the management issues I faced was going to all the locations I highlighted in my planning document. Due to leaving the train booking too late the prices to go to Manchester were too high and therefor me and my model, Amber couldn’t afford to travel there. By missing out on going to Manchester I feel my work had less variety as the only places I went to were very nature orientated. If I went to Manchester I would have been able to get much more urban shots for my project which would of added a wider variety to my work. If I was to change anything next time I would book all my trips further in advance to get the cheapest train travel. Another management problem throughout this project was time management. Although I made a Gannt chart as well as writing out a production schedule on my proposal I still found myself finishing work at home and on weekends. I also found myself starting new sections of this project before finishing the previous section. For example before production I would still have work to finish on my research yet we’d be starting the experiments section of the project. I feel if I was to change anything it would be to have a more detailed Gannt chart as well as creating a realistic schedule which I know I will be able to stick to. Although even if I do all this I still have to make sure I stick to it and don’t spend as much time talking in class and not focusing.
  • 14. Emotional Problems Personally the main emotional problem throughout this project for me was the peer evaluation in which we got peers in another class to answer some questions I made evaluating my work. We also had to answer other peoples questions based on their work. By doing this I could look at other peoples work that the other class produced and after doing this I realised my work is not to a similar standard and therefor I need to work to a much higher standard. When we evaluated our week I had only taken the pictures from Sheffield Botanical Gardens, completed the Front Page, completed the paint.exe page and half completed the Contents Page and Vapor_Wave pages. However after seeing how much other people have produced I knew I had to work a lot harder if I wanted to achieve at least a Merit which is what I'm aiming for. In the weeks following the peer evaluation I completed both the Contents Page, Vapor_Wave page as well as created 4 more double page spread, 4 single pages and a back cover. I am very happy we did this peer evaluation as it made me realise how I need to work harder and focus more if I wanted to achieve a grade I would be happy with.
  • 16. Production Evaluation – Front Page Here are the steps I took for creating my front cover for my vaporwave fanzine. I am very happy with how this front cover turned out as it showcases many vaporwave themes before you even look through the fanzine. I tried to use well known vaporwave images such as the Helios statue as well as including my own artwork that I feel fits in with the vaporwave theme. The colours I have used for this front cover are the 2 most common colours used in vaporwave artwork and it emphasises the vaporwave genre in my fanzine. If I was to edit any of this front cover I may choose to edit the masthead slightly so it has more of a presence on the page. I believe the basic white font works however a stroke/outer glow could have been added to make it pop off the page a bit better.
  • 17. Production Evaluation – Page 1 & 2 Here are the steps I took for creating page 1 and 2 of my fanzine. I am also very happy with how these pages turned out as I again think it has a very strong vaporwave theme which is the aim I was going for in my fanzine. I feel everything across the double page fits quite well together due to me sicking to a specific colour scheme of only a few colours. I have used images that are closely linked to the vaporwave genre such as the Helios statue, the Arizona Iced Tea and the ring dolphins. By using these images it ties the whole double page spread into the vaporwave genre very well. If I was to make any improvements to this page I would most likely change the title Contents to something that stands out more. I feel the colours that I selected for this don’t stand out that well and it isn’t enough of a focus on the page. Even though I don’t want it to be a main focus of the page I still would like it to have more of a presence.
  • 18. Production Evaluation – Page 3 & 4 Here are the steps I took for creating page 3 and 4 of my fanzine. This I feel is one of the more weaker images I created. The overall theme of the image fits very well with vaporwave genre, this is because of the blue grid which takes strong inspiration from the 1982 film Tron which is frequently referenced throughout the vaporwave genre. Most of the colours also work in terms of linking this piece to the vaporwave genre. If I was to make any improvements to this image I would edit the word wave that is in the centre of the image. The text of this image is meant to be the main focus however I think the design on the word wave doesn’t fit very well with the rest of the image. I feel if I was to change the colour of the chrome texture it would fit better with the overall image.
  • 19. Production Evaluation – Page 5 & 6 Here is the complete copy of page 5 and 6 of my fanzine. The bottom screenshot shows the original image that I edited. Overall I am quite happy with how this image has turned out. The effect I used was the same as what I learnt from one of my experiments. The glitch effect ties in very well with the vaporwave theme as well as the colours that I have used. As you can see from the original image I have changed the main colours of the image to fit better with the theme of my fanzine. If I was to make any improvements to this image I would probably add some other images to the foreground and treat the VHS image as a background. This is due to the simplicity of the overall image. I feel like there is no main subject of this image unlike with the other VHS filter image where I have my model, Amber off to the side of the image.
  • 20. Production Evaluation – Page 7 & 8 Here are the steps I took for creating page 7 and 8 of my fanzine. I am very happy with the overall look of this image I feel it was of the most unique pieces I have created and takes a lot of inspiration from a different area of the vaporwave genre. I am also happy with the attention to detail I put in by changing the names of files, the start menu and the error messages. The edit I did on the image of my model Jack was also something I'm very happy with as it was my first time using the liquify tool which turned out very well. If I was to change anything to this image I would possibly add more old school windows references across the image. There are a few areas of blank space where I could include other windows, icons and error messages.
  • 21. Production Evaluation – Page 9 & 10 Here are the steps I took for creating page 9 and 10 of my fanzine. The pictures I edited here were all taken by me in the Sheffield Botanical Gardens. Both images were edited in Lightroom which was a program I hadn’t used before starting this project. I am quite happy with how both images turned out however I feel because of the lighting from inside the botanical gardens I couldn’t achieve the exact same effect as my experiment which would have been ideal. If I was to make any improvements to this I would try and match the colours of the images better as you can see a difference in hues and colour between the 2 images. I feel by having both images being edited inn exactly the same way would give off a more uniformed look and would connect both pieces better.
  • 22. Production Evaluation – Page 11 & 12 Here are the steps I took for creating page 11 and 12 of my fanzine. I feel this is one of my stronger pieces despite its simplicity. I think this because it is very fitting with the vaporwave theme. I could easily see this as a desktop background due to its link to the original desktop background. I feel the colours work well as they take the vaporwave colour scheme and apply it to an image whilst still keeping the image somewhat semi realistic. For example the grass is still a shade of green which means the original image doesn’t lose its meaning in the edit. If I was to change anything to this image I would add a wider variety of palm tree style taken from multiple different designs creating a less uniformed image. Other than that I wouldn’t like to add anything else to the image as I feel this would take away from its simplicity.
  • 23. Production Evaluation – Page 13 & 14 Here are the steps I took for creating page 13 and 14 of my fanzine. This is probably my favourite piece of my whole project. I took the picture of my model Amber whilst at the Sheffield Botanical Gardens and completely changed the style of the image yet still keeping the main body of the original image. Creating the nebula scene was very fun as well as it gave me a lot of room for customisation and tailoring the image to my needs. Another thing that I am very happy with is the hue of the original image being changed to purple to give the effect that the nebula is actually outside the window and is changing the colour of the inside door. If I was to make any improvements to this image it would be to keep the image whole instead of splitting it down the middle as I feel it separates an image that would look much better as a whole image.
  • 24. Production Evaluation – Page 15 & 16 Here are the steps I took for creating page 15 and 16 of my fanzine. If I was to make any improvements to this double page spread I would probably add more vaporwave themed images to this pictures and treat them more as a background that a main focus of the page. The reason I would do this is because the style of the double page can be seen only a few pages before this and I feel having these as backgrounds to different images would add more variation to my fanzine.
  • 25. Production Evaluation – Page 17 & 18 Here is the complete copy of page 17 and 18 of my fanzine. In comparison to the previous VHS filter image in my fanzine, I feel this is the best as the ripples and waves seem to flow better and look a lot more natural. If I was to make any improvements to this image I would probably add more waves and ripples to the centre of the image. Although this doesn’t give an authentic VHS look I feel it would create more layers of distortion which would fit very well with the overall aesthetic of the fanzine.

  • 33. Feedback 1 • What are your favourite aspects of my fanzine so far and why? I think the front cover looks aesthetically pleasing and is very well edited, as there are lots of features and edits to look at which really adds to the overall appearance. I also like the aesthetics of the second pages as I think all of the colours work well together. • How would you edit the photos in slide (8) in order to fit with my theme? I think the idea that you have to edit the images is a good idea, and if you was to stick to the same colour scheme it would look really good when it is all put together. (If I was to be really picky of the front cover it would be that the title isn't completely in the middle at the top as the word vapour goes further out than the centre image and the word wave sits within the boundary line of the centre image if that makes sense.)
  • 34. Feedback 2 • What are your favourite aspects of my fanzine so far and why? I love the image on page 9. it reminds my of when you just leave a party and you still have the buzz of the excitement and the lights but now are just starting to feel a little worries walking down a creepy ally way. Its cool. • How would you edit the photos in slide (8) in order to fit with my theme? Not gonna lie I'm not entirely sure what vapour wave is so I don’t know if this is right but you could take elements of the images and resize, flip or recolor them in any way you want. Or you could replace them with different things for example take out a tree and replace it with an inflatable tree or a broccoli or something totally unrelated like a sheep. I don’t know tho. or for example a real image of a field but with edited plastic sheep or cartoon cows in it. • So far with my fanzine do you think it follows the vaporwave theme and why? Each page is consistent and It looks like they all belong in the same fanzine. I'm not sure what vapour wave is but it looks cool. I like the colours and the creativity in each page. • Would you like to see more edited nature photos (e.g. slide 8) or more images like the ones I've already created and why? I think overall there should be an even split but I personally would like to see more nature photos. Or to see you combine the two in one image, having a nature photo with certain elements of it edited.
  • 35. Feedback 3 • What are your favourite aspects of my fanzine so far and why? My favourite would be slide 9 as it doesn’t look like it’s a street in the UK. The street looks very American or very movie like. • How would you edit the photos in slide (8) in order to fit with my theme? I had to research what vaporwave is and I think if you recolour them or use the one filter in filter gallery that has that kind of look to it. Another way would be to use the hue/saturation/colour balance etc. • So far with my fanzine do you think it follows the vaporwave theme and why? I don’t understand slide 3 and what that has to do with the rest of your work. However, your fanzine does follow the theme as it has the bright colours. Each image doesn’t look the same which is good. It’s very psychedelic. • Would you like to see more edited nature photos (e.g. slide) or more images like the ones I've already created and why? I would as I haven’t images like this before so it would be good to see more.
  • 37. Peer Feedback – Joel Surdhar • What are your favourite aspects of my fanzine? Why do you think this? I especially enjoyed the paint.exe piece. As well as being cleanly edited, it incorporated a sense of wit and creativity through the renaming of various icons and text. I thought the little details such as the desktop items spelling out a sentence and the “Start” button instead saying “Stop” were particularly clever. I also liked the Nebula_Doorway photo. The piece had an innovative flair and deviated somewhat from the usual vaporwave “templates” so to speak. The idea was clever and looked good, the plants towards the sides of the photo were complementary to the piece – a nice touch. The front cover is very sleek, not too cluttered yet still engaging. The dripping paint on the statue is original and works well. I liked the image of the hand, the effects applied to it hand allowed it to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the photo. Another thing I liked was how a couple of the photos displayed dates in the 1980s. This was a subtle detail but good because the vaporwave theme Is themed around the 1980s and 1990s. • What are your least favourite aspects of my fanzine? Why do you think this? As much as I enjoyed the Nebula_Doorway photo, there were a few features which, in my opinion, could have been omitted to make a more polished finish. I felt the bolts on the doors as well as the fire alarm/signs (to the right) detracted slightly from the aesthetic of the photo. These objects are mundane and dull which could be great if they appeared to be deliberately contrasted with the vaporwave theme, however I felt they were not emphasised enough to make their placement seem intentional. I felt each of the sections had their own unique flavour except two of the nature shots (the ones featuring a path through exotic-looking trees). They felt quite similar because they shared the same camera angle, height and both feature a path through similar looking plants/trees – it seemed like the same “idea”. • Do you think my fanzine as a whole fits in with the vaporwave theme? Why do you think this? Absolutely, the square grids, nature and windows 95 features are classic themes in vaporwave which Is the sort of thing I would want to see as a fan of vaporwave. The statue pieces (shown on front and back covers) and the macintosh pro (back) are core to the vaporwave brand. The paint.exe section is an example of a certain aspect used in some vaporwave pieces which involves dark or off-putting themes being featured in a satirical and or desensitised way. • If I was to add anything to this fanzine, what would you suggest I add? E.g. more heavily edited pictures or more nature themed photos? The fanzine features some edited photos of nature (Nature_Edit_1-4). These are enjoyable however I would be interested to see a more adventurously edited photo of nature, for example with objects or text superimposed on to the image. This would be an opportunity to exhibit creativity by using text/objects which complement the image of nature in a clever way.
  • 38. Peer Feedback – Owen Sandles • What are your favourite aspects of my fanzine? Why do you think this? My favourite aspect is how the flow of the photos completely changes (e.g. computer screen -> nature) but all keep the same aesthetic. I think this is because I would find it boring if all of the similar pictures were grouped together. • What are your least favourite aspects of my fanzine? Why do you think this? My least favourite aspect is how similar some of the pictures are. I think this because some of the photos, when I looked at them I thought I’d already seen them. • Do you think my fanzine as a whole fits in with the vaporwave theme? Why do you think this? I think the fanzine definitely fits in with the vaporwave theme. I think this because all of the photos capture the colour pallete of vaporwave and also contain lots of iconic vaporwave style imagery, such as the old style windows operating system and the statue bust. • If I was to add anything to this fanzine, what would you suggest I add? E.g. more heavily edited pictures or more nature themed photos? If you were to add anything to the fanzine, I would suggest a page with things like music recommendations, new music updates, and shoutouts to some other vaporwave artists.
  • 39. Peer Feedback – Danny Aitken • What are your favourite aspects of my fanzine? Why do you think this? My favourite aspect is the use of purple hues over a green area as it creates an interesting vibrancy, and i like the use of a botanical garden that I've been to personally because it alters a perspective of somewhere I've already visited. • What are your least favourite aspects of my fanzine? Why do you think this? I would like to see a wider variety of different environments rather than just one particular garden could allow for more creative variance. • Do you think my fanzine as a whole fits in with the vaporwave theme? Why do you think this? Your zine fits perfectly with the overall vaporwave art theme, there are no outstanding details that take away from that theme and it stays true to its nature, because of the use of shades and colours, as well as digital scenes and common vaporwave objects. • If I was to add anything to this fanzine, what would you suggest I add? E.g. more heavily edited pictures or more nature themed photos? If I had to add more I'd add more nature shots.
  • 41. Public Feedback - Issuu Here are the statistics from Issuu where I uploaded my complete fanzine. As you can see I have 81 reads and 248 impressions. The reads show how many people looked at my fanzine for more than 2 seconds. The impressions shows how many times people had the option to look at the fanzine for example if it came up on a related search. Using these statistics I can conclude that roughly 32% of people who saw my fanzine ended up reading it. I am very happy with this statistic as it shows that my front cover is attracting people to view my fanzine. The average time spent on my fanzine is 6 minutes and 48 seconds which is also very positive as it shows people are taking time to look through each piece of artwork and isn’t just flicking through the whole thing. I am going to keep my publication on Issuu and these numbers are only going to grow as more people view my fanzine.
  • 42. Public Feedback - Reddit Here I added my front cover to Reddit. I have been subscribed to the r/VaporwaveArt subreddit for some time now however I have never made a post on it. Due to this being a very niche subreddit with only 45,000 readers I never expected to get a massive amounts of upvotes. I was very happy with 18 upvotes and it is worth noting that when I first uploaded this to Reddit it ended up being 5th top of the front page of this subreddit. The fact I got upvotes alone and it didn’t get removed shows that this piece is recognised as vaporwave artwork which was the main aim for this fanzine.
  • 43. Public Feedback - Reddit Here are 2 more pieces that I uploaded to the r/VaporwaveArt subreddit. Both pieces didn’t do as well with upvotes as the front cover I uploaded however I never expected any post to gain a large amount of upvotes. As I said earlier the fact my posts even got upvotes in a subreddit that is usually very strict with its posts, due to its active admins, just the fact it has been posted on the subreddit and has any amount of upvotes shows that it is fitting with the vaporwave theme as that is the main aim from my fanzine.
  • 44. Public Feedback – DeviantArt The final way I put my work out into the public eye was through DeviantArt. I uploaded my whole fanzine in individual double page spreads and as you can see some of my pieces got noticed by other users who saved my creations to their favourites. The pieces that did the best was page 5 & 6 as well as 7 & 8. Page 5 & 6 which I thought was one of my weaker pieces ended up being one of my most popular pieces. I feel this was because would see this individual piece and like the overall look of it however they may not know that it is meant to be in the style of vaporwave or part of a larger collective fanzine. Page 7 & 8 was my highest rated piece on DeviantArt and this was a piece I expected to do quite well. I feel it is quite unique in terms of design and overall look as well as the attention to detail in the areas such as the error messages.
  • 46. Summary To summarise my whole project I would say I'm very happy with how my final product has turned out. I feel like I created a fanzine that fits in very well with the vaporwave genre and incorporates many different vaporwave styles which is unique to my fanzine. I feel I managed the work load well and have got everything done to a standard I am happy with in the time that was allocated for this project. After speaking to multiple different sources and collecting feedback from a range of different online. sources I would say that others support my view in that I have created a vaporwave fanzine that has a very professional feel. I am especially happy with the feedback I got from the likes of DeviantArt and Reddit. Some of my artwork that has been uploaded got to the top 5 posts of the VaporwaveArt subreddit as well as getting multiple favourites on some of my artwork on DeviantArt. There are areas of my fanzine which I could have improved on if I was to repeat this project again. One of these areas is time management and although I completed all my work on time to a standard I am very happy with I did find myself doing a lot more work in the second half of the project. This is because at the beginning of the project I found myself getting easily distracted and falling behind at some points however after looking at other peoples work during the peer evaluation section I relaised I need to put in more work if I am to produce anything to that level.
