2. Front Cover Process
To create this experimental front cover, I have
completed this in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
It focuses on casual style in fashion.
Firstly, I had to collect a suitable photograph for
this genre. I collected this from google -https://www.eyeem.com/search/pictures/hands%20In%20Pockets?marketScore[]=great&marketStatus=commercial&page=54&q=hands+In+Pockets&replaceQuery=true&sort=relevance
I put this image into an A4 file on photoshop and
filed it to the page. This was to make it clear to
the viewer as it would be blurred, If I had just
placed it into InDesign. Then I saved this image as
a JPEG file. Next I had placed it into an A4
InDesign (new) project.
I was new to InDesign, so I had to search up (on
google) a few things that I had no idea how to do.
These included changing the text colour and
adding a grid to better a line my work.
I learned how to do these tools as they helped
me advance my work.
3. Front Cover Process
I have learnt how to
change the colour of the
text, which helped me
develop my experiment
by following a colour
scheme that I feel suits
the clothes/background
of the magazine. I think
that this is aesthetically
pleasing for the reader
to look at.
4. Front Cover Process
I have learnt to create guidelines in InDesign to make
my experiment look presentable to the reader. This
pleases the reader into looking at the piece and making
the focus the model in the middle of the page (for me).
5. Reflection
From this experimental front cover, I will include in my final piece the bold title,
the colour schemes and the main focus being the model in the middle of the
page. The bold title text is, in my opinion, vital for hooking the reader into looking
at the magazine. It is huge and makes it aesthetically pleasing for the reader to
look at. In addition to this aesthetically pleasing concept, the font greatly adds to
the look of the piece, which makes the audience want to read it as it looks good.
Next, I will include the colour scheme techniques that I have used in this
experiment because of the aesthetically pleasing element of it. I will be mostly
matching the colours of the text with the clothes or the walls of the photograph
that I have taken. Finally, I will be including the main focus that is the Models
image. This directly draws the reader in as they may have an interest in what the
person is waring, who they are or just what the magazine is about.
In reflection of this experiment, I will be mainly using the included techniques to
add the aesthetically pleasing element to my magazine as that is what makes the
reader want to read and view your piece.
6. Double Page Process
This is the double page
spread of the
experimental magazine
called ‘Casual Style’. I
had used Adobe
InDesign for most of
this project.
Although, I had edited
photos in Adobe
Photoshop so they
would not get
stretched.
7. Double Page Process
Firstly, I had set up a new document. However I had realized after I had completed this
that I could have put it in the same document the front cover experiment. This could
have saved paper. Next, added guidelines to the project that I was working on.
Then, I was thinking about design choices for this project. In particular, changing the
background colour. I had no idea how to change the background colour of a
document, so I used google and looked at a video. I now know how and it is simpler
than I thought.
You can use the
rectangle tool to fill
the page .
Then you can fill it with
what colour you want.
You need to remember
to arrange it by sending it
to the back.
8. Double Page Process
After this, I decided that I didn’t want a coloured background as I thought it
wasn’t the look I was going for. I decided to go minimal and pick white. I
thought that was a great idea as then I could make the text stand out in a
colour that matches the front cover. That is exactly what I went for.
I mainly focused on the colour
schemes of the text and shapes
on the double page spread as this
gives the reader a aesthetically
pleasing experience and makes
them want to read more.
9. Reflection
From this experimental double page spread, I will be including the colour schemes,
image placement and minimalist design in my design of my final piece. The colour
schemes are the main focus for me, when designing magazines. In my opinion, I think
that it is pleasing to the eye of the reader and makes them want to read my
magazine. Another technique that I will be including in my final piece is the irregular
placement of the images. This is, also, very pleasing to the reader as it flows with the
minimal vibes of the piece. It is abstract and reflects the colour scheme of the piece.
Finally, I will be including the minimalist design from this experiment in my final
product. I love designing these types of magazines as they look professional and
again, pleasing to the audience eye. The design grasps every technique together.
10. Overall Reflection
Overall, my big focus in my magazine will be my design. I will be completing
my magazine with a minimal look. This will be aesthetically pleasing to my
audience. Also, it will be organized in a way that is easily accessible to the
audience, so that they can find what they are looking for. However, I will be
also be focusing on the images. I want them to be like the ones featured in
the experiment. Full body and have attitude. They will add more aesthetically
pleasing elements to my piece. I will be including things such as ambient
lighting.
Finally I like the size of my text, I need to place this in order to blend with my
design. This will add to my piece and make it excitable to look at.
