INTRODUCTION
 A bell is a percussion instrument used in schools and
colleges.
 This design takes over the task of ringing the bell in
various institutions.
 The bell would ring automatically at the schedule time.
BLOCK DIAGRAM
POWER SUPPLY
Transformer
 In the power supply we use step down transformer.
 It converts 230V Ac to 12V AC.
MICRO CONTROLLER
 We are using Atmega8 microcontroller.
Features of micro controller
 Advanced RISC Architecture
 Up to 16 MIPS Throughput at 16 MHz
 8K Bytes of In-System Self-Programmable Flash
 512 Bytes EEPROM
 1K Byte Internal SRAM
LCD LED
LCD
 It is used to show current time and various messages.
 LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen is an electronic
display module and find a wide range of applications.
 A 16x2 LCD display is very basic module and is very
commonly used in various devices and circuits.
CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR
 It is used to provide external clock.
 It provides stable frequency oscillations.
BUZZER
 It gives the BEEP sound according to the given time.

 Compiler/IDE (Integrated Development
Environment)
- Used Code Vision AVR (CVAVR)
 Programmer- Pony Prog: For dumping the program
into ATMEGA 8
 USB Programmer
WORKING
 On the power supply of the circuit the bridge circuit
converts the ac supply in to dc supply and voltage
regulator regulates the supply.
 We are using IC 7805 which will gives output as 5V This
voltage is used to display the LCD.
 On the LCD we can able to view time format as
HH:MM:SS and DAY Number.
 We programmed this project as to hear the Buzzer sound
every after one hour and we can display as per the
schedule in the program.

 Powered by +5v & +12v.
 Current consumption 0.45mA for microcontroller.
 We can hear Buzzer sound every after one hour.

colleges, schools.
 This project can also be used in industries.
 It is an automatic system.
 Human errors can be avoided.
 Safety is assured

 Washing machine.
 Microwave ovens.
 Video recorders.
 Security system.
 Digital watches.
FUTURE SCOPE
 Automatic college bell system using Lab VIEW can be
extended for further development as there can be many
departments in a university at a distance in the same
campus and want to synchronize all department bells.
CONCLUSION
 Present day ringing the bell in colleges or schools are
carried out manually.
 The main disadvantage of this is that one person has to be
alert for this.
 To overcome from this, we have decided to prepare the
circuit which will be operated automatically and the
ringing of bell will start by its given time.

AUTOMATIC BELL FOR COLLEGE

  • 2. INTRODUCTION  A bell is a percussion instrument used in schools and colleges.  This design takes over the task of ringing the bell in various institutions.  The bell would ring automatically at the schedule time.

  • 6. Transformer  In the power supply we use step down transformer.  It converts 230V Ac to 12V AC.
  • 7. MICRO CONTROLLER  We are using Atmega8 microcontroller.
  • 8. Features of micro controller  Advanced RISC Architecture  Up to 16 MIPS Throughput at 16 MHz  8K Bytes of In-System Self-Programmable Flash  512 Bytes EEPROM  1K Byte Internal SRAM
  • 10. LCD  It is used to show current time and various messages.  LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen is an electronic display module and find a wide range of applications.  A 16x2 LCD display is very basic module and is very commonly used in various devices and circuits.
  • 11. CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR  It is used to provide external clock.  It provides stable frequency oscillations.
  • 12. BUZZER  It gives the BEEP sound according to the given time.

  • 16. EXECUTION  Compiler/IDE (Integrated Development Environment) - Used Code Vision AVR (CVAVR)  Programmer- Pony Prog: For dumping the program into ATMEGA 8  USB Programmer
  • 17. WORKING  On the power supply of the circuit the bridge circuit converts the ac supply in to dc supply and voltage regulator regulates the supply.  We are using IC 7805 which will gives output as 5V This voltage is used to display the LCD.
  • 18.  On the LCD we can able to view time format as HH:MM:SS and DAY Number.  We programmed this project as to hear the Buzzer sound every after one hour and we can display as per the schedule in the program.
  • 23. FEATURES OF PROJECT  Powered by +5v & +12v.  Current consumption 0.45mA for microcontroller.  We can hear Buzzer sound every after one hour.
  • 24. ADVANTAGES  This project can be used in educational institutes, colleges, schools.  This project can also be used in industries.  It is an automatic system.  Human errors can be avoided.  Safety is assured
  • 25. APPLICATIONS  Colleges, Schools.  Washing machine.  Microwave ovens.  Video recorders.  Security system.  Digital watches.
  • 26. FUTURE SCOPE  Automatic college bell system using Lab VIEW can be extended for further development as there can be many departments in a university at a distance in the same campus and want to synchronize all department bells.
  • 27. CONCLUSION  Present day ringing the bell in colleges or schools are carried out manually.  The main disadvantage of this is that one person has to be alert for this.  To overcome from this, we have decided to prepare the circuit which will be operated automatically and the ringing of bell will start by its given time.
