2. ABSTRACT:
• The main aim of this project is energy saving and safety purpose.
• By using this system energy consumption is reduced.
• Camera and micro controller are the main components of the
project.
• By chasing vehicle details and any incident at any place to inform
control room using GSM modem
• Any street light fault occur inform to EB office.
3. INTRODUCTION:
• Street light controllers are smarter versions of the mechanical or electronic timers previously used for street light
ON-OFF operation. They come with energy conservation options like twilight saving, staggering or dimming. Also
many street light controllers come with an astronomical clock for a particular location or a Global Positioning
System (GPS) connection to give the best ON-OFF time and energy saving.
• Automatic Street Light Control System is a simple and powerful concept, which uses transistor as a switch to
switch ON and OFF the street light automatically. By using this system . It automatically switches ON lights
when the sunlight goes below the visible region of our eyes. It automatically switches OFF lights under
illumination by sunlight.
• A street light, lamppost, street lamp, light standard, or lamp standard is a raised source of light on the edge of a
road or walkway, which is turned on or lit at a certain time every night. Modern lamps may also have light-
sensitive photocells to turn them on at dusk, off at dawn, or activate automatically in dark weather. In older
lighting this function would have been performed with the aid of a solar dial. It is not uncommon for street lights
to be on poles which have wires strung between them, or mounted on utility poles.
• Automatic Streetlight needs no manual operation of switching ON and OFF. The system itself detects
whether there is need for light or not. When darkness rises to a certain value
4. OBJECTIVES:
• Smart street light system tries to find solution for the faster depletion of
energy resource due to inefficient usage and wastage of these resource
• Increasing electricity bill is something that can be witnessed by these
practice
• These project help to decrease the wastage of electricity by controlling
the working of street light system that attributes ta a good amount of
electriity billin our nations
• These project does not include methodes to incroporate usage of
renewable resources like solor energy
5. PROPOSED SYSTEM :
• A smart street light system incorporates a cluster of streetlight lamps that can
communicate with each other and provide lighting data to a local concentrator.
The concentrator manages and transmits the relevant data to a secure server that
captures the data and presents it in a web-browser dashboard.
• It consists of power-adjustable LED array, the brightness sensor, the motion
sensor, the communication device, such as ZigBee module, and the controller. It
turns on for several minutes under the conditions that a motion is detected in the
defined area by the sensors including its own sensor. Then, it sends the message to
other units
• As for communication devices, a power-saving short- distance device, such as
ZigBee, is appropriate for our system. As for the position information, each
controller has plural addresses, which correspond to the adjacent different
networks.
8. SENSORS:
• PIR sensors allow you to sense motion, almost
always used to detect whether a human has moved in or out of
the sensors range.
• A vibration sensor is a device that measures the amount and
frequency of vibration in a given system, machine, or piece of
equipment. Those measurements can be used to detect
imbalances or other issues in the asset and predict future
breakdowns.
11. THINGSPEAK:
• ThingSpeak is a cloud platform where the data can be
stored in real time and can be accessed anytime, anywhere
through mobile phones.
• It uses the power of PROTEUS SOFTWARE
• It uses a GSM modem.
• The GSM modem is connected to the internet and then it
has direct connection to the ThingSpeak cloud server.
15. ADVANTAGES :
•
Since automatic street light systems feature no moving parts, they require less maintenance than
conventional street lights.
• The automatic solar street light system is a stand-alone arrangement & therefore requires no
external wiring or having to connect with the grid.
• There are lower chances of the automatic street light system overheating & risk of accidents is also
minimized.
• Cost of operating automatic solar street lights is far less when compared to the conventional street
lights.
• The automatic street light system is eco-friendly & hence helps in reducing the carbon footprint.
• Smart solar street lights can be put up in remote areas even in places that are not accessible to the
grid.
