Social Issues Of Rap Music
Since its origin in the late 1970 s in the South of Bronx in New York City, hip hop has emerged as a
national predominant form of music in America. Also known as rap music, it is consistent with fast
rhythmic vocals that gained popularity for speaking the raw truth of matters many people were scared
to deal with. Artists originally used this creative platform in order to give a voice to the urban poverty
in America. However, the main issue in urban areas changed. The matter became more about the
increase in violence particularly towards the harassment black communities faced by police.
Consequently, rap music became more violent to this new racial uproar in the streets. It developed a
new subgenre of rap called gangsta rap. Moreover, racial abuse continued to be present in the urban
streets, such as the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Because of this gangsta rap remained as the main
component of hip hop to this day. Due to its explicit presentation of violence, it is assumed to be a
genre of unconscious vulgarity causing critics to deem it as detrimental to society. However, rap music
does not cause violence but instead brings awareness to the violence already present to the world,
specifically urban areas. Despite common belief, rap music is beneficial to our society due to its
creation of platforms for social injustices to be addressed as an attempt to bring awareness to these
issues. Rap music brings a new perspective to social issues. Many of these social issues such

Abstract
Rainfall induced landslide hazards in Kenya represents a major challenge and remain an important
issue in disaster management especially in Kenya s central province region where the effects are very
common with the onset of El nin ̃o rains. The main aim of this study is to develop a rainfall induced
landslide probability map for Kenya s central province. In order to achieve this, process based
methods were used to map landslide areas using the following factors: slope, rainfall, land cover
change,Normalized DifferenceVegetation Index (NDVI)change, Curvature, watershed, and soil
characteristic including: type, texture, soil bulk density, Base Saturation, and Total Water Available
Distribution Map. The minimum conditions were set for each factor for landslide occurrence. Slope
stability mapping was done to determine the stable areas and thus derive the probability of landslide
occurrence. Statistical methods were then employed by means of weights of evidence to achieve the
probability weights for each factor considered to cause landslides. The factors were then overlaid
using the probability

Language Influences Child Language Development
The quality of language input influences child language development. Deaf children are unique in the
sense that they often have a different modality of language from their parents, providing a platform to
investigate the importance of language quality and onset. There are two categories of deaf children:
deaf children of deaf parents (DCDP) and deaf children of hearing parents (DCHP). DCDP are
referred to as native signers and make up 5 10% of the deaf community population (Lu, Jones,
Morgan, 2016). The language development of DCDP mimic that of hearing children in terms of onset,
rate, and patterns of development (Morgan Woll, 2002). Comparatively, DCHP make up the other 90
95% of the deaf community population and are only exposed to sign ... Show more content on

By using these three groups, the researchers were able to separate the impact of auditory language
modality from the quality of language, on WM scores. If poor WM is due to modality, then DCDP and
DCHP would perform worse than hearing children. However, if the quality of language input has a
greater effect on WM, then hearing children and DCDP should perform better than DCHP. Each group
was administered a battery of non verbal reasoning tasks, non verbal working memory tasks
(NVWM), and language tasks. NVWM scores were compared across groups and the relationship
between language task scores and NVWM scores was investigated (Marshall et al.,

How Does Harper Lee Use Metaphors In To Kill A Mockingbird
LT Vigil Mrs. petty American Literature March 1, 2016 An Unexpected Mockingbird: how one judges
Though out the book To Kill a Mocking Bird, there are many types of metaphors found in the book.
Some may show how it s a sin to kill a mockingbird. Others may show how America used to be in the
past, or how the times have not changed. In the book, the reference to kill a mocking bird is a sin.
Atticus, one of the books main characters tells his daughter Scout, how all the mockingbirds do is
sing, and they don t harm people. Some characters in the story are even referred to as mockingbirds.
The author of the book, Harper Lee uses these things like this as metaphors throughout the book. At

In the book the folks of the town look down on tom Robinson. I seen that black nigger yonder ruttin
on my Mayella (Lee 231). This shows how the people of Maycomb look down on black people. It also
shows how the accused tom of doing a crime he did not even do. Constantly in the book Scout and
Jem are being told that black people aren t friendly. Scout and Jem live in a society that teaches them
do look down on another race. Even at the end of the story, Tom Robinson is even shot and killed for
now reason. Before this happened, Tom was looked on as a mocking bird. Like before, tom was
framed for no reason. The daughter of Mr. Ewell had to make up a story to save her back. This shows
how the society back then killed tom just because they could not stand seeing a free black man. Even
with tom Robinsons wife Helen, she was left to fend for herself when tom was murdered. The main
problem with the American culture at the time was racial segregation, and people not being able to get
along. Even in the court house Tom was being treated unfairly. In our courts when it s a white man
word against a black mans the white man always wins. (Lee. 295) This shows how divided a white
and black man s rights, and words where. Even though tom said he did not rap anybody, because the
white man said he did, everyone believed

Red Sorghum By Mo Yan
Red Sorghum, a novel written by Mo Yan, depicts events of horror on the Sorghum fields during the
battle between the Chinese and Japanese. As the novel unfolded the role of Red Sorghum as an active
character in the novel was established. As an agricultural necessity for the Chinese, the participation of
the plant in the story declared that the people s relationship to the grain is far deeper than the just a
means to earn money for business purposes. The contributions sorghum made through its life giving
abilities confirmed it as a vital part to the Chinese s survival, especially through the hardships of the
war. With the plants powers to provide and sustain life, protect and offer a sanctuary to earth s
creatures, and the plants relation to the human demonstrates its place as more than just an agricultural
commodity.
As Red Sorghum unfolded the importance of sorghum as a grain and a means of sustenance is
confirmed. Sorghum provides the characters with food, wine, and antiseptics. In this case to take
precautionary measure against catching leprosy wine is sprayed all over the body. Uncle Arhat s belief
was sorghum wine is a germ sterilizer, Uncle Arhat believed sorghum wine was an effective
disinfectant for all kinds of dangerous germs (Yan, 114). Wine is used as a resource for sterilization
and when handling wounds. As an example, granddad was showing father how to properly clot a
wound, smear some of the salty white powder from the sorghum stalks on it (Yan, 175).

Alternative Future Energy Storage And Conversion Systems
Metal air batteries have been intensively explored as an alternative future energy storage and
conversion systems owing to their intrinsically high energy and power densities, the relatively mature
research on air electrode, and cost effective composition of non noble fuel electrode, as well as in
response to the high energy demand for portable devices and electric vehicles even stationary power
plants [1 5]. Of late, research into the metal air techniques has been focused on Zn air (~1,000 Wh kg
1), Li air (~13,000 Wh kg 1), and Ge air (~1,500 Wh kg 1) batteries because of its very high specific
energy and energy density with open cell air cathode structure [3 6]. With these devices, however, the
electrochemical energy could be stored in the stationary part as form of sacrificial metal anode. This
distinct architecture would make a limitation approach for large scale commercialization unless the
anode can provide good electrochemical reversibility and high cyclic durability.
As a feasible alternative to continuous operation, recently, a high temperature liquid metal air energy
storage cell (LMAESC) in conjunction with a solid oxide electrolyte has been investigated applying
post transition metals such as In [7], Sn [7 17], Sb [18 25], Pb [7], and Bi [12] as a sacrificial
electrode, so called liquid metal anode (LMA). Since these liquid metals has relatively low melting
point, it can improve the anode polarization by incorporating liquid wetting materials to spread on the

In Winter by Melissa Meyer there is proof of an underdog protagonist, Cinder, that has to fight with
another person of higher power, literally. The antagonist has higher power because she is the queen of
the moon and Cinder is a cyborg from a middle class family. Cinder is the underdog of the novel, and
the book series because she is a cyborg. She is also the long lost Princess Selene, rightful heir to the
throne. Cinder is also wanted by Queen Levana, the queen of the moon and Cinder s aunt, because
Levana is threatened by Cinder. Levana and Cinder fight in Levana s throne room on Luna. Cinder
confronts Levana and they fight for whoever will be the true Queen of Luna. In the end Levana is shot
in the head and dies. Cinder is stabbed through the heart but miraculously survives. In The Lost Hero

The Hour Long Drive Back
The hour long drive back to the city gave both men the time they needed to cool off. However, a
moody silence still blanketed the atmosphere, making it all the more difficult for Booker to impart the
news he knew would destroy Tom s world. On edge, he waited until Tom was sitting down in their
apartment before broaching the subject. There s something I need to tell you.
Although not surprised by the statement, the flicker of foreboding churning Tom s stomach rose to a
nervous flutter in his chest. He was about to find out what the search had uncovered, and he had a sick
feeling it was all to do with him.
Swallowing down the anxious lump that had risen into his throat, he looked Booker square in the eye.

Horrified, Tom rubbed a finger over his upper lip. Jesus, he muttered. The sonofabitch has been
abusing minors since he was in his twenties? How deep does this go? Is this a ritualistic practice of all
the Pi Taus? Do they all grow up to be pedophiles?
I dunno know, maybe, Booker replied absently. While the news was appalling, for Tom, the worst was
yet to come and taking a seat next to his lover, the dark haired officer laid a gentle hand on his knee.
Um, Tommy, there s something else.
With a frown, Tom s gaze darted over Booker s face, searching for answers. Something else?
Taking his lover s hand in his, Booker delivered the news. There were two other tapes found hidden in
a safe. One with your name on it, and one with mine.
Tom s muscles stiffened, the color draining from his face, leaving him pale and shaken. Wh What?
With a nod of his head, Booker motioned toward the two evidence bags laying on the table. Holland

Positive And Negative Effects Of The Industrial Age
Harsh. Unsafe. Dangerous. These are all terms to describe factories around a decade and a half ago.
This was during a time known as the Industrial Age. The Industrial Age, characterized by its advances
in technology and increase in urbanization, started in England in the late 1700s and spread to America
by the mid 1800s. The changes brought on by the Industrial Age affected the US both positively and
negatively. Workers were affected negatively. They had to work in the harsh conditions of the factories
where they were overworked and put into dangerous environments. These conditions, however, led
labour laws being put into place, changing the US for the better The people working in factories were
affected negatively negatively by the Industrial Age. Early factory workers would have workdays up
to 14 hours long (Farr). While this was around the same length as a preindustrial workday, the amount
of work done within that time changed. Preindustrial workers worked in bursts of energy. Factory
workers, on the other hand, had to work nonstop in order to meet demands. A worker as young as 10
years old could have a 16 hour work day with only one break (Doc 1). Even when machines broke and
production stopped, workers had to stay in the factory, though these unscheduled breaks were often
used for relaxation. These long work days were tiring for adults, but even worst for child workers.
Children as young as 6 years old were hired as factory workers. They crawled under machines to

Political Systems And Its Effect On The World
In this day in age, Politics have a vast impact on the world we live in. Leadership, on a macro level,
has mantled the world through all of time. These consecutive political systems have developed to
become a government. Each government varies throughout each country. Thus, created different forms
of government: Autocracy, Monarchy, Socialism, Communism, Theocracy, Plutocracy, and Pluralism.
These forms of government are created based of one s absolute routes, means of production,
elimination of inequalities, religious views, wealth, and compromisation. There are seven forms of
government but no single group holds dominant power. This act of power classifies each countries
government to be democratic or nondemocratic. From the system of beliefs, mostly democracies,
subsequently created political parties for public policy. Having a choice in a political system, is a great
benefit for an election. The function of the two party system has been the most effective throughout
the modern political era.
Political systems vary in many different countries. The connection with a country, develops two
different aspects for their people. The fundamental ways of comparing a state implicates the
classification of governments being either democratic or nondemocratic. A democracy is where
people, in the state, are self governed in a way where they are connected to the input and output range
of government. In these terms of Government, Grigsby states that for the input, people have freedom

Online Writing vs Formal English
We have come full circle in forms of communication. From cave man grunts, body and hand gestures,
and pictographic wall paintings, to cubicle man lols (laugh out loud), ttyls (talk to you later), and
smiley face emoticons, we are regressing to an earlier form of interactions. The expressive and
communicative richness of writing is slowly becoming the archeological relics of an electronic
modern society. I am no stranger to this failing. I started high school with a loose grasp of the tools of
writing; I left high school with a, slightly, better grasp of those tools. Now, as my high school years
fall farther behind me, and the academic language of writing erodes, the loose grasp of writing skills I
had is becoming far looser. My writing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Texting for me is an all day experience. I communicate when or where I will be, or check up on what
people are doing. I use digital shorthand here more than anywhere. Most words are not spelled out in
full, cumn ovr nw (Coming over now.), and wht r u doin (What are you doing?). Even the accepted
cyber vernacular is ignored in favor of my own gibberish. Mostly I write to a specific audience not an
unknown reader, and take liberties with my words.
My major failing when I try to assimilate my techno text with a scholastic essay is, I am not used to
communicating in a formal manner to a potentially critical and voluntary reader. With the ambiguous,
sometimes incoherent cyber darts of communiqué; my message is set adrift with little care about how
it is received. It is more a self centered tap on someone s electronic shoulder saying, I m here , and
with no thought whether they want to read what I write. When my complete thoughts are expressed,
they are often ambiguous. I write easily discarded words. I cannot use this form for my English class.
In the essays required for school, I have to write carefully and in an engaging way. One pitfall I find
with essay writing is I sometimes fall into a style that is the complete opposite of my text style. I use
large words with a meandering train of thought, and start to show off instead of communicate. When I
start to write, either I try to be clever with abstract and off

Gilgamesh As An Existential Hero
Incredibly, one of the first recorded written works has much in common with one of the most modern
philosophical movements. Though the Epic of Gilgamesh was written from oral narration centuries
before the philosophy of existentialism was developed, the epic encompasses many of the main ideas
of Sartrean existentialism. Jean Paul Sartre developed existentialism as a characterization of the
human condition, and the movement that followed his ideas formed distinct literary tropes. Among
these is the existential hero, and in this case, the failed existential hero. Initially, Gilgamesh shows
development, becoming more important on a universal scale by becoming essential . However,
Gilgamesh, when faced with the fact of his own mortality, fails to accept it and is crippled by his own
existential dread. Though Gilgamesh elevates himself to a human living with essence, in the
existential view, he is unable to overcome the questions of mortality that plague him in the aftermath
of tragedy.
Existentialism was a philosophic and literary movement that peaked in popularity in the mid 1900 s.
First expounded by Sartre, the movement was initially a description of humanity, and attempted to
define what it meant to be human. In defining this, existentialism addressed questions about human
mortality, and the significance of life. One of the main principles in Sartrean existentialism is the
concept that existence precedes essence (Existentialism, Stanford Encyclopedia of

Brief History Of Alcorn Essay
Ultimately, for more than a century the institution of higher learning now known as Alcorn State
University has been devoted to the outstanding education of black students. Historically established
for this purpose, however Alcorn has definitely struggled against many great odds. The new history of
Alcorn shows the unrelenting love and support of its community and alumni as they face the
challenges making major modifications to century old traditions. Founded in 1871, Alcorn State
University is the oldest historically black land grant institution in the United States and the second
oldest state supported institution in the state of Mississippi. The college is located outside of Lorman

In March 1957, Clennon King (1920 2000), an African American minister and Alcorn history

My First Day In School
This past year from when I was a little seventh grader to now has been quite interesting. The first day
of school was on my birthday and I started off sick. Yeah, it wasn t very pleasant. I missed the first
three days of school. When I was better, I was very scared and nervous for all the new teachers and
classes. I knew most of the seventh and eighth grade teachers, but I had never been in their class
before. Soon, I learned that they were all extremely nice and loved to teach. I had tried to memorize
my schedule before, so I wouldn t go to the wrong class. My first class was art, and then math,
science, lunch, P.E., language arts, quest, and finally social studies. I remember Mr. Munford told us
that he hopes we would be a pretty good class. I think our class turned out pretty well. I was involved
in many fun activities last year. One of them was FCA which stands for fellowship of christian
athletes. FCA was extremely fun because we met on Friday mornings before school and we got to eat
doughnuts and things like that and then we would talk about different things that involved with
Christians. Another activity I was involved in was C.L.O.W.N. troupe it was pretty funny seeing
everybody s clown costumes. The veteran clowns had to help train the new clowns that joined that
year. All the clowns had to create a presentation to present to little kids. Our presentation for the year
was about sharing and having good manners. We never got to go to the other schools and

Slavery In The Ancient Era Essay
Slavery in the Ancient Era
In this magnificent universe created by god which put us humans the only species in the world. Being
the only species, you would think everyone would treat each other equal. Some people treat other
people like they re not the same as them. In the ancient time, for instance in the 4th century, people
were preserved as slaves. Those people were treated way below humans and sometimes even worse
than animals. Slaves were sold to people just like how you would sell things.
They were forced to do hard labor, women s rapped, separated families and their owners did many
other horrendous things to them. Many of the slaves ended up either being killed or their harrowing
lives killed them. The proportion of slaves absorbed by domestic service must at all periods have been
considerable, for by and large, personal servants were always slaves, and they were employed in
numbers which by modern standards seem very lavish. Slavery was an efficient system back in the
ancient era especially in two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of these city states profoundly dealt with slavery violently. In Athens, which was a democratic
state, they made decisions by the majority rule. Political oratory suggest that slaves were regarded as
natural enemies of the political order. They were kept in bondage in accordance with the laws and
customs of the city and they were, therefore, expected to hate the system that maintained their servile
status. The citizens in Athens had in mind that the slaves were not that dangerous, so no one really
commiserated them. Even though this may seem like they didn t belong there, they had no major
problems with their slaves. Slaves were to be found in most households occupied with almost any kind
of service, some were trusted to live in their own or even to take charge of their master s affairs.
Athens was actually the only city that treated them less rigid than other

Psychoanalytical Theories That Show How Healthy Development
Christos Vagenas
Azusa Pacific University The stages of development are psychoanalytical theories that show how
healthy development in an individual should be from the age of adolescence to adult hood as
described in the Invitation to the Life Span by Kathleen Berger (Berger, 2010). I interviewed an
eighteen year old female who is currently a freshman at a four year university, the youngest in her
family. In addition, I interviewed a man in his early fifties who has two kids and a wife. This
individual owns a business that he started thirty years ago. These interviews and responses coincide
and differentiate in many ways. This portrays a contrast in their developmental stages, while including
how their faith has been a key factor in their development.

The eighteen year old interviewee comes from a family of five with two older siblings, a mother and
father. During the interview, the eighteen year old interviewee stated that she felt that she is more
knowledgeable with her life experiences. This relates to the social learning theory where an
individuals behavior and knowledge is emphasized through their observations from birth to adult hood
(Berger, 2010). She included that she enjoys social learning because she is an adult, but she still has
time to find out who she is and what she wants to be. However, she still is dependent on her parents,

being highly dependent on importation of crude oil since 2005 according to (EIA, 2010) reports. The
industry produces refined products that are in excess of the consumers demand and making it a net
exporter when it comes to refined oil, this however lead the country to account for about 12% of the
net importation from crude oil in 2009. With the huge capacity of refining capability the Industry
could be to a large degree a net importer, in coming years the increase in want of aviation fuel and
diesel fuel could lead to an increase in the refinery output and with the continuous decline of crude
production in the country, Uk is faced with coming up with decisions and strategies of ways of solving
the increasing demands of the above products and deciding on how much it would need to alter its
refinery capability to deliver the products and the degree of import dependency it would need. Figure
shows the exports and imports of crude by region with Western Europe having the highest values.

Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants
Should the United States Grant amnesty to immigrants who came here illegally? By: Chris Myers
Should the U.S. grant amnesty to immigrants who came here illegally? The answer to this question is
yes, they should. What s wrong with granting amnesty to hard working, tax paying individuals whose
only crime is their immigration status? Amnesty is not only the best solution to our immigration
problem, it is the only feasible solution. Here are some reasons to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants
now. Immigration is good for the economy. Despite all the fuss about immigrants stealing jobs,
immigration actually provides a benefit to the economy, whether those immigrants crossed the border
legally or not. Why you ask? Because of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While illegal immigration is a crime, the act of crossing the border without authorization is a mere
misdemeanor. Immigrants, in fact, may help drive crime down. The vast majority want to stay in the
country in order to work, so they naturally steer clear of breaking any laws. And as The Future of
Freedom Foundation s Sheldon Richman pointed out a few years ago, all manners of violent crimes
dropped dramatically since 1986, the last time an amnesty was granted to illegal immigrants. Yes, 14
percent of federal inmates are illegal immigrants, but they are largely there for immigration violations.
On the state level, Richman notes, less than 5 percent of inmates are illegal immigrants. Not exactly
the makings of a crime wave. An important one would be that immigration is a natural right. Judge
Andrew Napolitano explained that immigration is a natural right. What does that mean? A natural
right is a right inherent to our humanity, and the freedom of movement is such a right. The idea that
immigration needs to be authorized by the government flies in the face of that freedom. Immigrants
who come to America seeking the opportunity to work and pursue happiness, or those brought here at
too young an age to have any say in the matter, ought to be able to stay to pursue those opportunities.
Conversely, employers ought to be able to enter into contracts with any would be employees they

several artists that have raised concerns about this issue. A petition was started in 2016 by a group of

American Connector Company Case Essay

Severity of Threat by DJC
The American Connector Company (ACC) should be extremely concerned with the im pending

time when the new company will plan on operating at a loss, and will thereby be will ing to price

The ACC employed a strategy that emphasized an increased variety of products and flexibility in
production, while DJC emphasized a strategy of cost reduction and utilized a number of tactics to
decrease their costs overall. Among the major tactics was a cultivation and maintenance of close ties
with suppliers and distributors in Japan, simplicity of design and manufacturability over innovation,
and an emphasis on being highly efficient in manufacturing. This strategy difference appears to be the
sole driver in the cost difference of the materials as the close ties with suppliers, lower costs associated
with a simpler cheaper design, and the attention to details such as the use of a 2,000 piece packaging
reel instead of a standard 1,500 piece reel minimize the cost of materials.
Furthermore, the ACC strategy of offering increased variety requires shorter production runs which
inherently increases the cost associated with each product and packaging, as idle time due to process
changeover would increase between each product production (4.8% of time com pared with 2% for
DJC). The strategy of increased variety and production runs by the ACC would also affect labor in a
number of ways. Direct labor costs would go up due to a larger amount of idle time associated with
process changeover and the chance of increased problems associated with the

The Function Of The Song Beijing Welcomes You By Ke Zhaolei
Music can be found everywhere in our world and has many different functions. Since music is

into. The song Beijing Welcomes You is a chinese song composed by Ke Zhaolei for the 2008 Beijing

The pattern of the song has a beat that repeats itself at a fixed rate. In addition to the fixed rate, the
song has an accent where one beat is emphasized and this can be heard by the increased volume of
that specific note. Towards the end of the song, the melodic contour of the song can be described as a
descending melodic contour as the pitches descend from high to low. This is done by the artist holding
out their voices for a lengthened amount of time. Furthermore, the phonic structure of this piece can
be described as a monophonic piece. Monophony means that the performers play the same pitches
with the same rhythms. Even though the song incompasses a wide varitey of instruments, the rhythm
of the song stays relatively the same Another important aspect of the song is the dynamics. The
beginning of the song can be classified as a crescendo because of the increased musical sound from
the instruments, however, towards the end there is a decrescendo as the volume falls off and the artists
holds on and extends the last note. The crescendo in the beginning of the song is interesting to note
because the song starts off acapella and gradually the volume begins to increase when the first musical
instrument comes into play. Last but not least, this piece of music contains a lot of repetition. The
vocal repetition of the songs title serves as a

In this experiment it was found that the higher the salt concentration in a solution, the lower the mass
of the Beetroot. As water travels out of the extracellular environment by Osmosis, the Cell began to
dehydrate and signs of cell Lysis occurred. Though Colorimeter reading results were recorded, they
did not align with the mass of the Beetroot data and were classified inaccurate. Reviewing the results
there was no consistent trend in the data (eg. as the salt content increased by 1% the mass loss
decreased by 0.5g). It could only be stated that as the salt concentration was increased the mass of the
Beetroot decreased. This experiment is related to the Salinity issues currently occurring in Australia. It
has been established that the rising levels of salt in soil affects a number of things like; Agricultural

still, sent down from the pagan world of old, that such things must be, and in such way? Oh, how we
are beset! How are all the powers of the devils against us! (Stoker 170) God was not only a rock for
the people of this time period, but the man in whom they believed to have control of all events. If
there was any single belief that characterized the Victorian era it was Christian belief. Religion
pervaded social and political life to an extent almost unimaginable today (The Victorians: Religion
and Science.) The people of this time had no option as to what they wanted to openly believe, if one
did not agree with the way of the King/Queens church, the consequences could be severe. As a result
of the Christian beliefs, women were forced to play a very submissive role, adhering to the roles of the

Americans Justified In Waging War Dbq Analysis
In this essay I will explain whether the Americans were justified in waging war on the British. In my
opinion I think the Americans were justified in waging war. The British made up unfair taxes. They
were tyrants that had complete power over the colonists. The first reason for the colonists rebelling
against Britain is because of the unfair taxes the British set out. In document two John Dickinson
writes, The parliament unquestionably possesses a legal authority to regulate the trade of Great
Britain, and all her colonies...[The Townshend Acts claim the authority] to impose duties on these
colonies, not for the regulation of trade... but for the single purpose of levying money upon us.
Dickinson is saying that the Stamp Act and the Townshend

Designing A Custom Paint At A New Gun Shop
I have wanted to perform a custom paint job on one of my rifles for a long time. I first learned of
people painting guns while at a new gun shop. The owner of the shop had a binder full of pictures of
guns that he had painted. Upon seeing this I wanted to learn how to create amazing styles of
camouflage and other designs for my rifles as well. I went onto the internet and watched videos on
how to properly paint a firearm. I learned that to create the best effects was to paint the gun using a
gravity feed air brush. When I tried to procure an air brush to complete this project a problem occurred
in the shipping. Somewhere along the route my air brush kit was misplaced and was unable to be
found. This meant that I had to perform the paint ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
PlastiDip is a very thin spray able rubber that can act like a paint but can be removed at any time
without struggle. I chose to do it this way in case the spray paint didn t work as planned, then I could
remove the paint without a problem and no permanent consequences. The PlastiDip has a short drying
time, making it easy to spray on multiple layers in a short period of time. After the second layer of the
PlastiDip was fully sprayed on I let it cure over night to ensure that the PlastiDip had fully gripped to
the rifles stock. I kept the gun at room temperature and let it sit for about twelve hours. I didn t wait
this long for fear of the paint not bonding correctly, this amount of time was due to work and school.
When I arrived home from these priorities I began to make the stencils to create the designs on the
rifle. I decided that I wanted to do a striped cut pattern on the gun using a red spray paint. Creating the
stencils was the hardest part of the project. I thought that the easiest way to make the stencils would be
to draw out the design on paper, and then transfer the design onto the masking tape. From there I was
planning on cutting out the designs. This would let me create the proper pattern and the tape would
seal against the gun to prevent leaking. The stencils did not work like I was hoping they would. To cut
out the pattern I first started using a pocket knife. This just ripped the tape and ruined the pattern. I
thought that this was due to

Kurt Voyer Defined The Psychology Of Teamwork
Benjamin Voyer defined the psychology of teamwork in the article. The study of teamwork was
originated with the development of social psychology and interest on how groups behave,
predominantly as against another group. There were two groups that were discussed in the article that
contributed to the study of teamwork. The first group is in group as described as being a member of a
group who share a particular interest or activity and defines who you are. The second group was
described as a group outside one s own with which one feels no sense of identity. This second group is
termed as out group . Hellen Keller s cliché enunciates that we can do so little if we are alone and we
can do so much if we will work as a team.
According to the writer, things can go wrong because power plays a big role in a team. In health care
for example, quality and safety are the two big priorities. However, flaws still arise. Typically, the
complications arise because of the problems in the team, not with the people s ability. There was a
situation wherein a misunderstanding between the surgeon and the assistant was narrated in the article.
There was a misunderstanding due to the fact that the surgeon had just transferred from the other team.
It simply tells us that teamwork was not applied in this situation. The author gave emphasis on the
importance of developing a team mind. The three C s were stated in the article pertaining to
teamwork. One of which is collaboration that

Percutaneous Coronary Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis is a disease where fatty deposits obstruct the inside of arteries. Arteries are blood
vessels that transport blood rich in oxygen to the heart and other parts of the human body. The execs
of plaque harden and narrow the arteries. This limits the flow of blood rich in oxygen to the organs
and other parts of the human body. Atherosclerosis can lead to more serious problems, such as a heart
attack, stroke, or even death. Medical procedures and surgery are recommended in severe cases

The strange fairy tale elements of the story lend the work an epic quality. As Mary A. Gervin noted
that McCullers admitted that the story was written to work out the conflicting emotions she underwent
in the twisted trinity between her German friend Annemarie her husband Reeves and herself. Through
the perverse triangle relationship that evolves in the novel, McCullers illustrates how archetypal love
tends toward evil and the negation of communal love. The bond that is developed between the dwarf
Lymon and the giantess Amelia is shattered when Lymon s affection is transferred to Macy. The two
men destroy Amelia s coffee house and abandon her leaving her physically and spiritually broken.

Peter Singer Is Wrong
Thesis: Singer is wrong, I do not have a moral obligation to donate to global poverty relief.
Explanation: Peter Singer s argument about global poverty can be broken down into three distinct
steps. The first is easily accepted. Nearly everyone can agree that starvation, lack of shelter and a
scarcity of medical care is a bad thing. His next is also frequently acknowledged. If we are able to
donate without sacrificing anything morally significant we morally ought to do so. However, it s
Singer s third ideal where he loses most people, including myself. In his third premise he states that by
donating to aid agencies, we can prevent suffering from lack of food, shelter and medical care without
sacrificing anything morally significant. But that arises the question. What is considered morally
significant? Moral significance varies from one person to another making it nearly impossible to
determine a universal constant everyone can follow. Along with that, this premise speaks entirely
towards a financial donation of giving money to aid agencies. This again raises speculation and
concern as to how much money is morally significant to give away from one person to another.
Argument: My biggest concern with Singer s premise of having a moral obligation ... Show more

Now I don t disagree with this statement. I too think that poverty should be dealt with on an even
playing field. But the fact of the matter is that it is not. The United States, along with other wealthy
nations does not receive funds at the same rate as other nations. Poverty stricken countries in Africa
are the most common territories to receive aid. Therefore, this argument becomes insignificant. If we
are to be treating poverty on the global scale, each person dealing with poverty should be granted, not
just the extremely poor

Social Responsibility within the Community
Social Responsibility within the Community Water conservation has become a socially responsible
effort which is gaining momentum in the community in which I live. Though slow to get rolling, as
awareness rises in the community, so do the individual actions. Each small action that an individual
takes to conserve water contributes to the overall community effort. The use of water within the
community has been steadily decreasing as awareness increases. Through this concerted effort, the
community as a whole has become more cohesive. This cohesiveness is the direct result of individuals
working together vas a team and sharing a common goal. Further, individuals also achieve a sense of
accomplishment and well being as water consumption decreases. These good feelings are a direct
result of actively contributing to ecological conservation. The community in which I reside is a small
one with its own utility district and water treatment plant. By having its own designated utility district
and plant, the tracking of water usage is less complicated than in areas with shared water utility
districts and water treatment plants. In fact, this simplicity has led to public awareness of the
community s water usage. Since the data is easy to access, it has made it easy for the neighborhood to
publicize usage via signs throughout the neighborhood and weekly water consumption is also posted
on a large, highly visible sign at the community center. Almost everyone within the community must

Essay on Egyptian Art and Culture
Egyptian Art and Culture
Current scholarship generally acknowledges that art does not exist in a vacuum. Rather, art is an
expression of the culture which creates it, revealing common beliefs, aspirations, and feelings. Within
the vein of cultural art history the true nature of ancient Egypt has become the focus of much
questioning. Much has been said regarding this ancient civilization within the context of the continent
of
Africa. The focus has not been merely geographic although some scholars contend that the physical
location of Egypt has been all but overlooked. At the core of this controversy is the issue of ethnicity
and culture. What was the identity of the people who built and populated ancient Egypt?1

Shu and Tefnut, representing Space in its dual aspects, male and female, were of the first generation.
They in turn
engendered Geb and Nut earth and sky, who gave birth to Osiris,
Horus, Seth, Isis, and Nepthys and they gave birth to the multitudes of this world. 4
In another version, the creation was understood in its first state as metaphysical, attributed to Atum.
On the spectrum, creation progressed each step closer toward matter. Myth often relates the story of
Ptah, the divine blacksmith, who brought materialization to the entities created by Atum. And, to
Khnum, the divine potter, who modeled men and things from clay on his potter s wheel.5
It is within this framework that the Egyptians conceived of what it meant to be human. A distinction
was made between the aspects of a human being of that which was eternal and that which was subject
to cycles of death and rebirth. According to funerary texts, humans are composed of a mortal body,
called the kha, and three immortal elements known as the akh, ba, and ka. These have been translated
as the spirit, soul, and double. More current interpretation assigns a less specified role for each entity.
Regardless of the translation, an understanding of the concept of creation by the divine, imparting
multiple aspects to each being was necessary to the Egyptian use of art to represent themselves and
deities. The personification of the

  • 2. Social Issues Of Rap Music Since its origin in the late 1970 s in the South of Bronx in New York City, hip hop has emerged as a national predominant form of music in America. Also known as rap music, it is consistent with fast rhythmic vocals that gained popularity for speaking the raw truth of matters many people were scared to deal with. Artists originally used this creative platform in order to give a voice to the urban poverty in America. However, the main issue in urban areas changed. The matter became more about the increase in violence particularly towards the harassment black communities faced by police. Consequently, rap music became more violent to this new racial uproar in the streets. It developed a new subgenre of rap called gangsta rap. Moreover, racial abuse continued to be present in the urban streets, such as the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Because of this gangsta rap remained as the main component of hip hop to this day. Due to its explicit presentation of violence, it is assumed to be a genre of unconscious vulgarity causing critics to deem it as detrimental to society. However, rap music does not cause violence but instead brings awareness to the violence already present to the world, specifically urban areas. Despite common belief, rap music is beneficial to our society due to its creation of platforms for social injustices to be addressed as an attempt to bring awareness to these issues. Rap music brings a new perspective to social issues. Many of these social issues such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mwaniki, Email: mercimwaniki@yahoo.com Abstract Rainfall induced landslide hazards in Kenya represents a major challenge and remain an important issue in disaster management especially in Kenya s central province region where the effects are very common with the onset of El nin ̃o rains. The main aim of this study is to develop a rainfall induced landslide probability map for Kenya s central province. In order to achieve this, process based methods were used to map landslide areas using the following factors: slope, rainfall, land cover change,Normalized DifferenceVegetation Index (NDVI)change, Curvature, watershed, and soil characteristic including: type, texture, soil bulk density, Base Saturation, and Total Water Available Distribution Map. The minimum conditions were set for each factor for landslide occurrence. Slope stability mapping was done to determine the stable areas and thus derive the probability of landslide occurrence. Statistical methods were then employed by means of weights of evidence to achieve the probability weights for each factor considered to cause landslides. The factors were then overlaid using the probability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Deaf children are unique in the sense that they often have a different modality of language from their parents, providing a platform to investigate the importance of language quality and onset. There are two categories of deaf children: deaf children of deaf parents (DCDP) and deaf children of hearing parents (DCHP). DCDP are referred to as native signers and make up 5 10% of the deaf community population (Lu, Jones, Morgan, 2016). The language development of DCDP mimic that of hearing children in terms of onset, rate, and patterns of development (Morgan Woll, 2002). • 6. Red Sorghum By Mo Yan Red Sorghum, a novel written by Mo Yan, depicts events of horror on the Sorghum fields during the battle between the Chinese and Japanese. As the novel unfolded the role of Red Sorghum as an active character in the novel was established. As an agricultural necessity for the Chinese, the participation of the plant in the story declared that the people s relationship to the grain is far deeper than the just a means to earn money for business purposes. The contributions sorghum made through its life giving abilities confirmed it as a vital part to the Chinese s survival, especially through the hardships of the war. With the plants powers to provide and sustain life, protect and offer a sanctuary to earth s creatures, and the plants relation to the human demonstrates its place as more than just an agricultural commodity. As Red Sorghum unfolded the importance of sorghum as a grain and a means of sustenance is confirmed. Sorghum provides the characters with food, wine, and antiseptics. In this case to take precautionary measure against catching leprosy wine is sprayed all over the body. • 7. Alternative Future Energy Storage And Conversion Systems Metal air batteries have been intensively explored as an alternative future energy storage and conversion systems owing to their intrinsically high energy and power densities, the relatively mature research on air electrode, and cost effective composition of non noble fuel electrode, as well as in response to the high energy demand for portable devices and electric vehicles even stationary power plants [1 5]. Of late, research into the metal air techniques has been focused on Zn air (~1,000 Wh kg 1), Li air (~13,000 Wh kg 1), and Ge air (~1,500 Wh kg 1) batteries because of its very high specific energy and energy density with open cell air cathode structure [3 6]. With these devices, however, the electrochemical energy could be stored in the stationary part as form of sacrificial metal anode. This distinct architecture would make a limitation approach for large scale commercialization unless the anode can provide good electrochemical reversibility and high cyclic durability. As a feasible alternative to continuous operation, recently, a high temperature liquid metal air energy storage cell (LMAESC) in conjunction with a solid oxide electrolyte has been investigated applying post transition metals such as In [7], Sn [7 17], Sb [18 25], Pb [7], and Bi [12] as a sacrificial electrode, so called liquid metal anode (LMA). Since these liquid metals has relatively low melting point, it can improve the anode polarization by incorporating liquid wetting materials to spread on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was during a time known as the Industrial Age. The Industrial Age, characterized by its advances in technology and increase in urbanization, started in England in the late 1700s and spread to America by the mid 1800s. The changes brought on by the Industrial Age affected the US both positively and negatively. Workers were affected negatively. They had to work in the harsh conditions of the factories where they were overworked and put into dangerous environments. These conditions, however, led labour laws being put into place, changing the US for the better The people working in factories were affected negatively negatively by the Industrial Age. Early factory workers would have workdays up to 14 hours long (Farr). While this was around the same length as a preindustrial workday, the amount of work done within that time changed. Preindustrial workers worked in bursts of energy. Factory workers, on the other hand, had to work nonstop in order to meet demands. A worker as young as 10 years old could have a 16 hour work day with only one break (Doc 1). Even when machines broke and production stopped, workers had to stay in the factory, though these unscheduled breaks were often used for relaxation. These long work days were tiring for adults, but even worst for child workers. Children as young as 6 years old were hired as factory workers. They crawled under machines to ... Overall, upon reviewing the available literature, it appears as though research is focused on determining what particular chronic pain populations experience the most success with CBT based treatments. To begin, Loebach Wetherell et al. (2016) recently published the results of their study on the impact of age on the efficacy of CBT and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) in the treatment of chronic pain. The 114 individuals who participated in this study were between the ages of 18 and 89. In order to be included in this study, subjects had to have been suffering from nonmalignant, chronic pain for a minimum of six months and have a minimum score of 5 on the severity and interference subscales of the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) (Loebach Wetherell, Petkus, et al., 2016, p. 303). Following a medical and psychiatric evaluation, subjects were randomized into groups that would receive either CBT or ACT. After completing a four to six week pretreatment phase, study participants attended weekly, 90 minute CBT or ACT group sessions over an eight week period. • 23. Gilgamesh As An Existential Hero Incredibly, one of the first recorded written works has much in common with one of the most modern philosophical movements. Though the Epic of Gilgamesh was written from oral narration centuries before the philosophy of existentialism was developed, the epic encompasses many of the main ideas of Sartrean existentialism. Jean Paul Sartre developed existentialism as a characterization of the human condition, and the movement that followed his ideas formed distinct literary tropes. Among these is the existential hero, and in this case, the failed existential hero. Initially, Gilgamesh shows development, becoming more important on a universal scale by becoming essential . However, Gilgamesh, when faced with the fact of his own mortality, fails to accept it and is crippled by his own existential dread. Though Gilgamesh elevates himself to a human living with essence, in the existential view, he is unable to overcome the questions of mortality that plague him in the aftermath of tragedy. Existentialism was a philosophic and literary movement that peaked in popularity in the mid 1900 s. First expounded by Sartre, the movement was initially a description of humanity, and attempted to define what it meant to be human. In defining this, existentialism addressed questions about human mortality, and the significance of life. One of the main principles in Sartrean existentialism is the concept that existence precedes essence (Existentialism, Stanford Encyclopedia of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being the only species, you would think everyone would treat each other equal. Some people treat other people like they re not the same as them. In the ancient time, for instance in the 4th century, people were preserved as slaves. Those people were treated way below humans and sometimes even worse than animals. Slaves were sold to people just like how you would sell things. They were forced to do hard labor, women s rapped, separated families and their owners did many other horrendous things to them. Many of the slaves ended up either being killed or their harrowing lives killed them. The proportion of slaves absorbed by domestic service must at all periods have been considerable, for by and large, personal servants were always slaves, and they were employed in numbers which by modern standards seem very lavish. Psychoanalytical Theories That Show How Healthy Development Christos Vagenas Azusa Pacific University The stages of development are psychoanalytical theories that show how healthy development in an individual should be from the age of adolescence to adult hood as described in the Invitation to the Life Span by Kathleen Berger (Berger, 2010). I interviewed an eighteen year old female who is currently a freshman at a four year university, the youngest in her family. In addition, I interviewed a man in his early fifties who has two kids and a wife. This individual owns a business that he started thirty years ago. These interviews and responses coincide and differentiate in many ways. This portrays a contrast in their developmental stages, while including how their faith has been a key factor in their development. Sentence The eighteen year old interviewee comes from a family of five with two older siblings, a mother and father. During the interview, the eighteen year old interviewee stated that she felt that she is more knowledgeable with her life experiences. This relates to the social learning theory where an individuals behavior and knowledge is emphasized through their observations from birth to adult hood (Berger, 2010). She included that she enjoys social learning because she is an adult, but she still has time to find out who she is and what she wants to be. Amnesty is not only the best solution to our immigration problem, it is the only feasible solution. Here are some reasons to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants now. And as The Future of Freedom Foundation s Sheldon Richman pointed out a few years ago, all manners of violent crimes dropped dramatically since 1986, the last time an amnesty was granted to illegal immigrants. Yes, 14 percent of federal inmates are illegal immigrants, but they are largely there for immigration violations. The ACC employed a strategy that emphasized an increased variety of products and flexibility in production, while DJC emphasized a strategy of cost reduction and utilized a number of tactics to decrease their costs overall. Among the major tactics was a cultivation and maintenance of close ties with suppliers and distributors in Japan, simplicity of design and manufacturability over innovation, and an emphasis on being highly efficient in manufacturing. This strategy difference appears to be the sole driver in the cost difference of the materials as the close ties with suppliers, lower costs associated with a simpler cheaper design, and the attention to details such as the use of a 2,000 piece packaging reel instead of a standard 1,500 piece reel minimize the cost of materials. Furthermore, the ACC strategy of offering increased variety requires shorter production runs which inherently increases the cost associated with each product and packaging, as idle time due to process changeover would increase between each product production (4.8% of time com pared with 2% for DJC). Monophony means that the performers play the same pitches with the same rhythms. Explanation: Peter Singer s argument about global poverty can be broken down into three distinct steps. The first is easily accepted. Nearly everyone can agree that starvation, lack of shelter and a scarcity of medical care is a bad thing. His next is also frequently acknowledged. If we are able to donate without sacrificing anything morally significant we morally ought to do so. However, it s Singer s third ideal where he loses most people, including myself. In his third premise he states that by donating to aid agencies, we can prevent suffering from lack of food, shelter and medical care without sacrificing anything morally significant. But that arises the question. What is considered morally significant? Moral significance varies from one person to another making it nearly impossible to determine a universal constant everyone can follow.
