The Contamination Of The Gold Mining Company
Within the last couple of month there has been a mere excessive amount of water being polluted
and having toxic waste carelessly dumped. The Animas River of Colorado and flowing through
Utah, New Mexico, and high Northern Part of Arizona. But it s not just the that, there are plenty of
lakes and rivers that are being contaminated with toxic wasteall the time. And people seem to be
very closed and okay with the fact their water sources are dirty.
Well as a Native American, some of these parts the river flows are pretty much sacred lands, and
as well as the water very vital. But due to the government and the EPA granting permission for
the gold mining company to dump their whatever waste into the river, now jeopardizing
millions of people and creatures that rely on the water source for survival. But after knowing
they gave permission to do this, the EPA had the nerves to go right around, apologize, but telling
residents that live alongside the flowing river to say the contamination was an accident . So as
for this accidental spill, now people and domesticated animals can t use this source for anything.
As for cleaning up, it may take a couple years until anything good can actually come out of it.
The thousands of gallon waste that were dumped into the water leaves a very thick orange yellow
color covering the whole. And since the part of the river flows through Northern Arizona, where a
very pristine and sacred land for the Navajo Nation, it s disturbing and a disgrace

Ethical Issues Of Children Are A Precious Gift From God...
Children are a precious gift from God with blessing. However, these children with no special
power are mortal beings, who may also suffer sickness and disease. As parents, the
responsibilities of children are to care, protect and provide beneficences due to they are
incompetent to make own decisions yet. Nevertheless, in some circumstances, the decisions, are
made by parents, may deteriorate youngster s health condition. In addition, the worsening health
problem may cause and bring various moral issues. In this case study, it is about an 8 year old
boy, James, who had acute glomerulonephritis and became a renal failure. Due to the choice of
parents, Mike and Joanne, the boy who was delayed treatment and needs to receive permanent
dialysis and also require the kidneytransplant within the year
. Currently, the perfect donor is the twin brother, Samuel, who is also 8 years old. This essay is
going to identify and analysis the ethical issues as well as Christian principles and values among
this case.
Identification and Analysis of Ethical Issues and Christian Principles and Values
Issue 1 Treatment Refusal
In the beginning of this case, the attending physician of suggested immediate dialysis; however,
Mike and Joanne opposed the medical advice. The aim of treatment refusal was based on the
principle of beneficence and non maleficence. Beneficence is the principle of requiring doing good

Inductive Reasoning In The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a philosophical time period that was placed in the eighteenth century. It
was also known as the Age of Reason . Most thinkers argued that the things of nature could be
understood by using human reason. This time period is when people began to question certain
authorities. People began to notice that the sake of humanity could be fixed or saved by using
reason to think and improve society. Although they sometimes differed in favoring inductive or
deductive reasoning, Enlightenment thinkers often worked towards the same general goal which
was changing society for the better by using science, logic, and education.
Most Enlightenment thinkers either used inductive reasoning or deductive reasoning. Inductive
reasoning or thinking means that a specific thing is used to create a broader theory. Deductive
reasoning is where one would take a general idea and narrow it down towards a specific reason or
idea. Some people that used these kinds of reasoning were Immanuel Kant, John Locke, James
Cook, Jean Jacques Rousseau, and RenГ© Descartes. Immanuel Kant was one of the many
philosophers that used inductive reasoning approach.
According to Immanuel Kant, Enlightenment was a man s growth from his own self imposed
immaturity. He thought the motto of the Enlightenment was along the lines of one should not be
afraid to use their own knowledge to understand things. He also thought that laziness and cowardice
were two reasons why men acted or performed the way they

Kindertransport Essay
Discuss the role of the Ratcatcher in this extract and elsewhere in the play.
The play Kindertransport written by Diane Samuels rotates immensely around the Ratcatcher. The
Ratcatcher s role in this extract and the whole play can be interpreted in many ways.
The given extract begins with Helga reluctantly agreeing to read The Ratcatcher as a bedtime story
to Eva. The reasons for Helga s reluctance remain ambiguous as the play proceeds with Helga
reading the book simultaneous to Faith who is in a different setting also reading the same book. The
following scene is of Eva frantically leaving in a train.
Helga s hesitancy in this extract as Eva requests The Ratcatcher books suggests an underlying
implication that the tale is similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the play proceeds the Ratcatcher also takes upon a number of different characters such as the
Nazi Border Official, the English Organiser, the Station Guard, etc. All of these are portray
threatening and patronising characters that stereotype her or simply authoritative figures. This
reflects the author s attempt to present to the reader the different viewpoints of the society about the
Jews and refugees such as Eva.
In addition another key factor which has a significant impact on the manner in which the
Ratcatcher s role can be interpreted is the language used to describe him in the given extract. He
is described as someone who hisses the aggressive words I will find you. The use of the strong
verb I will indicates a threatening and predatory tone. A similarly threatening tone is used further
into the play by an officer who exclaims Sir! Sorry Sir indicating Eva to repeat after him. The stage
directions also state that the officer bodysearches Eva which reflect his threatening and patronising
character. The similar character of authority figures to the Ratcatcher suggests that perhaps these
figures are just the reality version of the Ratcatcher.
The Ratcatcher Music is one of the factors frequently referred to in the stage directions of the play.
Soon in the play it is evident that the music is often added into the scene in which

The Political Party System
In the United States of America, the political party system is pivotal to the function of our nation.
The political party system in our society today is separated between the Democrats and the
Republicans. Although political parties do possess uncertainties their advantages outweigh their
drawbacks in America. The United Statesof America is made up of two basic political parties, the
Democratic Partyand the Republican Party. A political partyis a group of individuals who share
similar interest and they work together with one another to construct and execute policies. The
Democratic Party was established in 1828, by Andrew Jackson. The Democratic Party was created
based on a belief in an unyielding government and an advocacy of social and... Show more content

The nation is aware of the benefits political parties hold, and they are also are aware of their
hindrances. Numerous Americans oppose the political party system, because of their potential
to negatively hinder our society. They disagree with the system so much that they would rather
see the political party system abolished than see it reformed. I understand fully that the political
party system has their issues. For instance, our political party system does not offer equality for
all parties. In our society, our party system operates under the two party system, if we had three
or more parties running they would not have a fair chance. We only examine are two leading
political parties in our ballots. The system lacks equality which can be extremely unsetting to
voters who support the less popular parties. We are known as the land of equal opportunity, yet
we contradict ourselves. In addition, political parties can be selfish and they do not always focus
on what is beneficial to our nation as a whole. Political parties will focus on their interest and
their end goals that will only benefit them. The list goes on but I do not believe abolishing the
party system is the answer. Abolishing the political party system would be to extreme, but I do
believe the party system needs to be reformed. Instead of parties receiving funds from wealthy
corporations there should be

Pythagoras Is A Bit Of A Mysterious Figure
Pythagoras of Samos is a bit of a mysterious figure. There are many different accounts of his early
and midlife, some of which contradict each other. One thing that is common among all the records
is his mathematical achievements. When it comes to math, he played an extremely large part in the
development of mathematics.
Pythagoras was born in 570 BC in Samos. Most of the information that can be found today about
Pythagoras was written a few centuries after he died in 495 BC. His mother was a native of the
island Pythagoras was born on. His father was a merchant from Tyre. During his early childhood
Pythagoras stayed in Samos, but as he grew older he would accompany his dad on his trading trips.
Due to travelling with his dad he studied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Odd numbers were thought of as female and even numbers as male. Out of all the numbers
Pythagoras believed that the number ten was the holiest number. He believed this because it
was made up of the first 4 digits, and when arranged in 4 rows of points it made a triangle.
Pythagoras also discovered prime numbers and composite numbers. He also did some research
relating to perfect numbers (the sum of the divisors is equal to the number). The number 6 is an
example of a perfect number. (3+2+1=6) He discovered that 28 was also a perfect number, and his
students later found 496 and 8128 to be perfect numbers as well.
Pythagoras biggest mathematical work was the Pythagorean Theorem. This theorem had already
been discovered by the Babylonians, but Pythagoras was the first to prove that it was correct. This
theorem relates to the three sides of a right triangle. It states that the square of a hypotenuse is equal
to the sum of the squares of the other sides. The formula for this is a^2+b^2=c^2. In this formula
a and b = the two shorter sides of the right triangle. C is equal to the side that is opposite of the
right angle, or the hypotenuse. Pythagoras was also responsible for introducing more rigorous

Personality As An Understanding Of Personality
As an understanding of personality, it is said that the essential paradigms of a personality are
defined by individual s characteristics and behaviour. However over a period of time an individual
s personality can change due to genetics and the altering nature of the environment they are placed
within. Personality is in reference to individuals variances in their patterns of feeling, thinking and
behaving (Encyclopedia of Psychology: 8 Volume Set, 2000). This essay will be focusing on the
basic dimensions of a personality and also the factors influencing personality change. This then will
be contrasted against a study that develops that personality does not change over time.
Personality not only changes over time and experience but also manipulates as the individual goes
through varying facades within their life. Several personality psychologists believe that personality
is defined by five dimensions as suggested by McCrae and Costa (The Big Five dimensions of
personality?, V.Egan, 1988). This was found by testing the conduct group by allowing them to
choose a solution to a question that the teste believed was most suitable and thus showed that the
test groups had presented 5 dominant characteristics, extroversion, agreeableness,
conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness (The Big Five dimensions of personality?, V.Egan,
1988). Extroversion is looking into the individual s excitability, sociability and the high amounts of
emotional expression (Very Well, 2016).

Immigrants Essay
Traditionally immigrants are face numerous challenges on a daily basis. Whether it be learning a
new language, raising their children, work, housing, accessing services, transportation, cultural
barriers, and many more. But, have we as society really thought who is to blame for this and
why as we should care. How this affects them in the long run. Having all these different emotion
inside them from the not knowing. There are about 1.5 million children and youth that are
brought over undocumented. . In the book Lives in Limbo there is a saying which goes ni de
aqui ni de alla meaning that they don t feel like they belong to either side. They know they don t
belong here because everyone is telling them they don t belong but then they don t belong from
where they came from because they grew up here and that s all they know. Many of these children
are often faced with discrimination, racial profiling, bullying, forcibly taken away from their
families and even deportation. These events can not only scar them but cause them severe issues
while growing up. They can become depressed, have anxiety, PTSD, and become socially isolated.
These children should not have to experience these types of situations. Many of these children lose
their only support system . In some cases some of the youth became so hopeless that they their last
resort was suicide. The first problem immigrants face is language. It s hard enough to be a(n)

How the Battle of Midway was the Turning Point of WW2 for...
In May of 1942, Japanese Admiral Isorosku Yamamoto devised a plan to draw the US Pacific
fleet into battle where he could completely destroy it. To accomplish this master plan of his, he
sought out the invasion of Midway Island which would provide a base for the Japan troops to
attack Hawaii. Unfortunately for Yamamoto, America decrypted Japanese radio transmissions and
Admiral Chester Nimitz was able to establish a counter attack against this offensive. Nimitz sent
three aircraft carriers, The USS Enterprise, The USS Hornet and The USS Yorktown to destroy the
Japanese. This is just a short overview of The Battle of Midway, or as commonly referred to as, the
battle that changed the war. People argue that it had no affect on the war, but... Show more content

It was a severe psychological shock to the nation of Japan. The Army thought Japan s main
interest was in the war in China and defending Manchuria against the Soviet Union. Its support
for the Navy s southern strategy was limited due to the fact that it conflicted with its interests and
was the reason many Army divisions were willing to divide. This indifference was the decline of
the influence of the Naval General Staff over the planning of naval strategy of the Combined Fleet
under Admiral Yamamoto. This was in due to the personality of Yamamoto and his low opinion of
the Chief of the Naval General Staff, as well as his opinion after the success of the attack on Pearl
Harbor
. What might have been a major strategic opportunity wound up being nothing, as the Germans
offered no proposals for joint operations under the new Tripartite Axis agreement. It was
important that the Japanese lure the remainder of the US Pacific Fleet to battle around Midway
and that the Imperial Navy achieve a strategic victory as Yamamoto believed that Japan could
then offer peace to the United States from a position of strength. Yamamoto added Carrier
Division 5 to the naval forces assigned to the operation which increased the risks to the Midway
operation. The Combined Fleet plan was finalized and presented to the Naval General Staff on
April 2. Yamamoto played the resignation card as he strongly

In Consideration of School Uniforms Essay
School Uniforms A group of small boys and girls all wearing the same colored school uniforms
assembled in front of a catholic school is what I imagine when thinking about school uniforms.
This is probably what most people imagine. They have been attached to students of European
and private schools. Such pictures of students dressing in school uniforms have led to
stereotyping and a negative attitude towards schools enforcing a uniform policy. Displayed as
robots without the ability to express them selves in a society that says you must express yourself

individual is high in some cases, in Detroit, a 15 year old boy was killed for his $86... Show more

A Dallas attorney Domingo Garcia has filed a proposed legislation that would make it
mandatory to wear uniforms in Grades k 12 in Texas (Ramos 1997). The first fundamental issue
that school board officials and lawmakers should look at before they make new policies and laws
concerning school uniforms is, will these new laws and policies have a positive impact on
students overall performance. This would not be limited to academic performances only but
should also include other socially learned behavior that will enhance the students ability to
conform to the social norms needed to be successful in today s society. People for uniforms say
that the academic performance has been and will increase by having the students ware them
(Caruso 1996). A lessened degree of attention and concern with fashion will enable a better
condition for serious study, as well as lesson the cultural and economic challenges of students and
parents. (Cohn 1996, Paliokos 1996) Nathan Minster, a seventh grader at Country Day of Arlington
said, Uniforms provide a better educational atmosphere, and symbolize school spirit. If all students

arachnophobia, coulrophobia and apiphobia. Many religions have their own ideas on our final

Todd Burpo does a remarkable job translating, three year old, Colton s descriptions of his trip to
Heaven... and back.
Another positive I found while reading the book Heaven is for Real is that I could not put it
down. This was because chapters were short and they always left the reader at a cliff hanger.
Burpo did a outstanding job keeping the reader engaged and wanting more by somehow creating
cliffhangers after every chapter. Whether it was whether Colton was going to make it out of
surgery or mid conversation about Colton s still born sister, Burpo made it impossible to not start
the next chapter to find out the answer or details to the newest bomb Colton dropped on his parents.
While some may be completely convinced by the innocence of the book, many skeptics

experiences a gasp or feels his heart skip a beat. Then he quotes the bible with some piece of
scripture that fits. Finally, Colton gets bored and runs off. This pattern is repeated through the entire

be homogenized or oversimplified and it extends well beyond the religious and political accounts
that are overwhelming proclaimed both inside and outside Muslimmajority societies. Despite

In Merriam Webster English dictionary, it states nearly the same definition, but goes on to
mention the nun s headdress and the bride s ornamental head cover as examples of veiling (Amer,
10). So why do we, as Euro Americans typically associate veiling with Islamic practice? In
reference to Islam, the veil takes on a specific connotation in our popular imagery. Typically, we
do not associate the sheer bridal veil with Islam, rather it is fused with images of a black cloak, a
chador, covering a Muslim woman from head to toe in Iran (Amer, 10). Unfortunately, the media
plays another role in this as this is how many movies, television programs, and newspapers have
portrayed these women. Growing up in a country that has only shown images of women in dark,
dense coverings, I did not realize that women did not necessarily dress this way. The book
explains the many different types of Muslim dress and veils, ranging from covering everything
except for the eyes to only cover the hair and neck. The differences in dress made it clear that not
all Muslim women dress the same way, despite what media had taught

General Contribution Of The Core Knowledge From Overall...
Question 1 This question relates to the general contribution of the core knowledge from this unit to
overall managerial effectiveness.
a) Outline how the core concepts in this unit relate to the overall effectiveness of managers, leaders
and their organisations. (10 marks 300 words)
The core concepts of the unit will enable executive staff to make better informed business decisions.
Using concepts learned from the unit, theory as learned, can be applied to business situations and
enables them to review situations in a nonlinear view. As quoted in the study guide To answer such
questions using an economics looking glass we first have to define what economics is. Economics
is a way of thinking. (Walker Murphy 2013).
Traditionally, workers in siloed organisations, may concentrate and look at problems within the
business relevant to their specific requirements, however, from an economic decision making
point of view we can make a more informed decision. eg. An IT Executive may look at technology
to solve a specific business problem, however an executive may apply economic concepts to
provide an overall picture on the solution this may include but would not be limited to;
Supply Demand Theory eg. The executive might need to budget and resource for labour. We might
need to consider the relation between the two (that is supply and demand) and provide some
mechanisms to forecast demand (such as regression).
Production Theory the executive might need to

The Legal Action For Negligence Against Jimmy Farnham And...
Answer A
The major shareholder might not be successful in the legal action for negligence against Jimmy
Farnham. This is because the audit firm was not under a contract agreement with the major
shareholder, and the fact that the major shareholder can be considered a third party in the
contract between Jimmy Farnham and Aussie Outback Tours Ltd. The law is not definitively
clear on the auditor s liability to third parties (Porter, Г“ hГ“gartaigh Baskerville, 2012). An
auditor owes a duty of care to their direct client, and any damages incurred by the client due to
negligence on the part of the auditor makes the auditor liable in terms of contract and also in tort

He had advised the client to assign the review and evaluation of the new database to an independent
contractor. The fact that Jimmy was not familiar with the new system of accounting that the client
was implementing and therefore not involved in the changeover process absolves him and his audit
firm from direct liability. It is also hard to prove that the error in material inventory that resulted
from the changeover was committed when Jimmy was auditing the firm or at the instance of feeding
the data into the system. Admittance to liability is also dependent on whether the auditor had
placed disclaimers of responsibility in the preparation of the audit reports.
The criteria for the determination of the auditor s liability to other parties apart from the clients are
as follows:
The defendant must have reasonably foreseen that the statements would be put to use by the plaintiff
A relevant degree of proximity must exist between the parties involved in the litigation
The imposition of a duty for care by the plaintiff on the defendant must be just and reasonable
(Davies, 1991; ACCA, 2009).

likelihood of the judgements he made being used as a basis to make judgement by the plaintiff.

reaction. The rate limiting step, which is the first step, forms a carbocation. This would be the
slowest step in the mechanism. The addition of the nucleophile speeds up the reaction and
stabilizes the carbocation. This reaction is more favorable with tertiary and sometimes secondary
alkyl halides under strong basic or acidic conditions with secondary or tertiary alcohols. In this
experiment, the t butyl halide underwent an SN1 reaction. Nucleophiles do not necessarily effect
the reaction because the nucleophile is considered zero order, (which makes it a first order
reaction.) The ion that should have the strongest effect in an SN1 reaction is the bromide ion. The
bromide ion should be stronger because it has a lower electronegativity than chloride as well as a
smaller radius. In a bimolecular nucleophilic substitution or SN2 reaction, there is only one step.
This occurs because the addition of the nucleophile and the elimination of the leaving group
spontaneously occur at the same time.

Essay on Poverty and Inequality in El Salvador
The poverty and inequality that has plagued El Salvador since the early twentieth century stems
from their rule by the Oligarchy, which dates back to colonial times. The Oligarchy s lack of
consistency in implementing and following through with reforms has prevented progress from
occurring in the country. Furthermore, the many wars and political revolts in El Salvadorimpeded its
economic and social growth. The main focus of the Oligarchy was to turn a profit. And because
they essentially ran the economy, they assumed that their actions were best for both their profits
and the country s economy as a whole. Their selfish single minded focus led to a growing economic
inequalities, which was subsequently accommodated by ethnic and class... Show more content on

However, the Indians were susceptible to the diseases brought over by the Spaniards, which led
to a decline in the Indian population. Because the Oligarchy viewed the Indians as disposable
labor, they did not feel the need to treat them to prevent their numbers from dwindling. Instead,
the Spanish replaced them with slaves imported from Africa (Montgomery 71). This was one of
the first signs of inequality brought to El Salvador by the Oligarchy. In the seventeenth century,
the demand for cacao dropped. As a result of this, El Salvador plunged into an economic
depression, and the Oligarchy had to find a new source of revenue, which they found in indigo
(Montgomery 71). Indigo was profitable because of the increase in demand for textiles in Europe
at this time (Krauss 59 60). This led the Oligarchy to increase its acquisition of land in El
Salvador, which was mainly inhabited by the native Indians. On top of being extremely lucrative,
indigo was far less labor intensive than cacao was, so it became the main focus of El Salvador s
agriculture by 1600 (Montgomery 71). Unfortunately, these developments had high costs for the
Indian populations. When the indigo rotted, diseases would be brought to the Indian villages that
cultivated it, killing off entire villages in several instances. When this happened, they were merely
replaced by another tribe (Krauss 60). Eventually the mistreatment of the Indians by the

Nintendo s Disruptive Strategy
Nintendo Disruptive Strategy Video game industry is synonymous with names like Sony,
Microsoft, and Nintendo. A number of changes have been witnessed in the video game industry
with respect to competition and technology. Atari, a U.S. based company, and Namco from Japan
are some of the undisputed initial players in the video game industry. They literally brought the
video games to teenagers who accessed them in the shopping malls and video games arcades.
Home consoles however made it possible for video game lovers to play video games within the
confines of their homes. The introduction of personal computers in the 80s nearly revolutionized
the video game industry. However, the introduction of personal computers had no significant
impact on the video game industry as the proprietors still achieved steady growth. Video game
consoles client base was kind of confined to teenagers. Sony managed to penetrate the video
gaming market save for their insightful targeting and positioning, image conscious branding, and
super graphic technologies. These made PS very popular in the mid 90s. In fact, the entry of Sony
into the video gaming market spelt some doom to video game consoles because they captured new
players. The industry subsequently grew substantially. Video gaming became the ultimate
entertainment especially among the young adults who had disposable incomes (Farhoomand,
2009). When SONY launched PS2 in 2000, Microsoft felt that it could also eat part of the cake and

WHAT IS SIX SIGMA?
The word is a factual term that measures how far a given procedure goes astray from flawlessness.
Six Sigma is named after the procedure that has six standard deviations on every side of the detail
window. It is a trained, information driven methodology and technique for taking out imperfections.
The focal thought behind Six Sigma is that on the off chance that you can quantify what number of
imperfections you have in a procedure, you can methodicallly make sense of how to dispense with
them and get as near to zero deformities as would be prudent.

The Golden Thread About 40,000 people died during the French Revolution. Charles Dickens
portrays a few examples of these deaths in his book A Tale of Two Cities. Most of the characters
that were killed for the Revolution in Dickens book had their name knitted into a registry. This can
be compared to a common Greek Myth of the three fates, where they weave names into a tapestry
before they come to an end. In Charles DickensA Tale of Two Cities
Book Two is titled The Golden

characters in the book.
It is known are Greek Mythology, that there is to be three sister deities who together determine a
person s destiny. For example, they will say when a person will die. One of the three sisters spins

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is about four children

One thing that Lewis wanted his readers to take from his writing was to know and understand that
in order to be virtuous, you must have God s grace (McGrath 4). Many themes from the bible are
found in the Chronicles of Narnia, but throughout The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the
biggest symbol of Christianity is Narnia s king, Aslan ( A Fairy Tale... 3). Although he is a lion
, he
represents Christ in almost every way. Lewis chose to use a lion because the animal itself is said
to be the king of beasts and in the bible, Jesus is referred to as The Lion of Judah (Baehr 3). In
comparison of Aslan to Christ, it is noticeable that there are certain similarities in the way that
they were both selfless leaders of their lands. Christ s crucifixion was a big part of the novel
because Aslan gave his life so that Edmund, who had given into temptation, didn t have to; much
like Christ gave his life for his people. The next day, Aslan rose from the dead, brought his
warriors back to life and defeated evil and created a new Narnia. In the bible sense, that lines up
the story of Christ s resurrection, his appearance to his disciples, his defeat of evil and then his
creation of the new heavens and the new earth ( Response: The Seattle Pacific... 1). Although
Aslan did not give his life for all as Christ did, the fact that he was dying for an imperfect person
was representative of Christ s assurance that he

Five Teaching Methods And Approaches
TEACHING METHODS OR APPROACHES.
Choosing suitable methods to help learner s master learning content has for a long time been a
main area of contention in the field of teaching.
There are two approaches to teaching: the teacher directed approach as well as the learner centred
approach.
The teacher directed approach is based on reception learning, which means that the content to be
learnt is presented to the learner in its final form.
The learner centred approach means that the material to be learnt is not given but must be
discovered by the learner with help of a teacher.
Five teaching methods/approaches.
1.Telling Method
i.Telling method can be described as structured teacher talk aimed at clarifying concepts so that
learners are able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This method is time wasting. ii. Clever or gifted learners will lose interest as a teacher will busy
demonstrating the very same thing the whole period.
4.Questioning Method
i.It is an approach towards most teaching learning situations. ii. Learners bring their knowledge and
experiences to class, then a teacher will try to link this knowledge from learners to new
information he is about to present o a class. iii. Questions may also be used to gather the attention
of learners to what a teacher is presenting and also towards achievement of learning outcomes. iv. A
teacher will use question to test if learners are still listening or to avid misinterpretation or to help
those learners who are still left behind.
v.Again, questions can help a teacher if he wants to stress one or two points. vi. The question
answer method is very demanding for both the teacher and learners. The teacher must prepare the
lesson thoroughly because the answer he may get from learners may be unpredictable.
Advantages of Questioning Method
i.They assess learners understanding. ii. To develop learners skills such as critical thinking,
communication, listening skill and cooperation with other learners.
Disadvantages of Questioning

How Does Priestley Present The Inspector In An Inspector...
JB Priestly (1894 1984) wrote An Inspector Calls after the First World War (it was first
performed in 1945); like much of his work, the play contains controversial, politically charged
messages. Priestly was a resolute socialist and had very socialist views. This essay will explore
some of the techniques Priestly uses to present the Inspector.
The Inspector as soon as he is introduced has authority and is commanding of the situation. You can
see this from the following quote, at once an impression of massiveness, solidity and
purposefulness . The quote shows that, the Inspector is probably confident and will be motivated to
do the tasks set for him/the tasks he has set for himself. Not only the family has an impression on
the Inspector ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Priestly presents the Inspector as a strong believer in socialism, meaning that he greatly cares for
his fellow citizens and believes that everyone should be treated equally and fairly. You can see this
towards the end of the play when the Inspector makes a speech, which outlines his political
views. He says that we should look after each other and stop thinking about ourselves so much,
We don t live alone. We are members of one body. We are responsible for each other. This just
shows how extreme his belief in socialism is and how he thinks people should live. We know
that, Priestly also had socialist opinions, very similar to those of the Inspector. So you may say
that, Priestly used the inspector as a mouthpiece to deliver his left wing views and his ideas on
society at that time. However, you could think that the Inspector wasn t strictly socialist; he just
thinks that people no matter what their social class should be treated fairly ( I don t think this).
In my opinion, most of the audience would think of the Inspector as a socialist due to his
obvious beliefs and speech at the end of the play. They d probably agree with what he says and
also think that the Birling family was wrong to do and think the way they did. This would result in
them possibly thinking that capitalism is wrong. The audience might develop socialist views as a
result of agreeing with the Inspector; the 1945 viewers may realise that the rigid

Developmental Theories, Erikson And Freud Essay
What is development? Development is A progressive increase in the function of the body.
(growth and development book) As a nurse it is vital to understand what development means
and how people develop, especially children. In this essay I will talk about two very important
developmental theories, Erikson and Freud. In addition, compare their similarities and their
differences. Erikson was a psychologist who was greatly influenced by Freud. Although
influenced by Freud there are some differences in there developmental stages. Erikson believed
that development in an individual was molded by society, culture, and environment. While Freud
s belief was that development is in some way is influenced by the fixation of sexual interest of
different areas of the body. The stages in Erikson s development theory outline how important
social experiences can shape us. While Freud s theory is mainly based on ones sexuality.
Additionally the other significant difference between Erikson s and Freud s theories is the
outcome of a particular stage. Erikson believed that the outcome of a certain stage was not
permanent and that it could be changed later on in life. While Freud presumed that if an individual
became fixated on a stage problems associated with that stage would be carried on through life. On
the other hand, there are many similarities between the two developmental theories. Both Erikson
and Freud believed that each task must be completed or the conflict must be resolved in

Definition Of Marriage On The Church And Beyond Essay

Annotation: Gary and Woolverton defined marriage as an agreement between one man and one

characterized further as a social union between individuals that makes family relationship.

Annotation: Cooke traced the history of Christian marriage to the earliest periods of the church s
life; Cooke stated that in the earliest periods of the church s life there was no proof for anything
that could be called Christian marriage. And that this absence of confirmation demonstrates plainly
that separated from the way that two people included were Christian, there was nothing detectable
distinctive about Christian marriage, about the way they began, the way they were lived, or the
way they ended. The marriages of Christians were not noticeably, not quite the same as alternate
marriages in the general public. Christians married as indicated by the examples of whatever
society they lived in.

Reflective Beliefs Of AquinasTeaching On The Eucharist
Aquinas teaching on the Eucharist has offered many new and distinctive insights to me. One of
these insights is when Aquinas asks the question whether one should distinguish the two ways of
eating Christ s body. The two ways are spiritually and sacramentally. His opponents argue there
is no need to and I thought the same as well, because eating the bread and drinking the wine
would encompass both. However, after reading Aquinas I answer , it became clear to me that
there is a twofold division between the sacrament itself and the effect of it. An example my
professor gave is if a mouse ate some bread and wine. The mouse is not mindful and because of
that, it only participated in the physical aspect of the Eucharist, but not with its effect. You must be
mindful to appreciate the symbols of bread and wine or there will be more harm than good if you
are not attentive of what God is doing. A quote from Aquinas that helped me understand this better
is when he says, but the sacramental eating that does not secure the effect is contrasted with
spiritual eating, just as the imperfect, which does not attain perfection of its species, is contrasted
with the perfect (ST 3.80.1). What he means by this is that just by merely participating in the
sacrament alone without the effect is like doing something in an imperfect way. The perfect way of
doing this is by complete eating, which is receiving both the visible and invisible effects. Aquinas
also offers some strong arguments against

Richard Nixon s Involvement In Vietnam
Many people think that all Nixon did in his presidency was the watergate scandal, but in reality he
helped stop Americans fighting in the Vietnam War. When Richard Nixon started in Office he was
faced with the difficult task of trying to pull all US troops out of Vietnam. He decided to use a
tactic he created called Vietnamization. The simple plan was to strengthen South Vietnam so they
could fight the war by themselves. The plan involved many small steps which helped finally end
our involvement in January 1973. The War was highly disliked by many Americans. This split
America up and caused divisions in America. Richard Nixonended US involvement in the Vietnam

The During The Gilded Age America Experienced The Second...
During the Gilded Age America experienced the Second Industrial Revolution . Between the end
of the Civil War and the early twentieth century, the United States underwent one of the most
rapid and profound economic revolutions any country has ever experienced. There were
numerous causes for this explosive economic growth. The country enjoyed abundant natural
resources, a growing supply of labor, an expanding market for manufactured goods, and the
availability of capital for investment. The uprising of big businesses, railroads, and factory
transformed America from being based on small farm work into an industrial powerhouse.
During the Second Industrial Revolution the role of big business in federal and state
governments was a monumental turning point in the history of this country, setting a foundation
which has come to play a big role in government policy today. In a time period where the
American Government did not have a real system in place for becoming an elected official, a
great portion of the government was corrupted by people put in place by owners of big
businesses and in turn they agreed to pass laws or do other favors for their benefit. Moguls such as
John D. Rockefeller, and Andrew Carnegie played major roles big business. The rapid expansion of
factory production, mining, and railroad construction in all parts of the country except the South

additives unlike table salt, which has iodine and anti caking agents; however, texture is the main
thing that sets kosher salt apart for most people is texture.
In most parts of the US, kosher salt is both affordable and easy to find but there are alternatives if

Its texture makes it the perfect substitute since it provides the same type of crunch, which makes
it an effective finishing salt. In addition to that benefit, the flavor of sea salt is almost identical
to that of kosher salt. Unlike table salt that is mined from underground salt deposits, sea salt
comes from evaporated seawater or water from salt lakes. In most cases, there is little
processing aside from the evaporation. The result is that the trace minerals that are usually
removed from table salt can be found in sea salt. Those minerals can affect both the flavor and
color of sea salt. Because of the difference in crystal sizes, the amount of sea salt that you use in
place of kosher salt is important. Add a single teaspoon of coarse sea salt for every 1 1/4 teaspoon
of kosher salt that your recipe

Workplace Bullying And The Workplace
Workplace bullying is something that is a big contemporary problem, that I feel is often pushed
under the rug and not discussed. Workplace bullying can effect a person s health, and it can also
affect their role as it relates to their workplace performance. I would like to discuss workplace
bullying to help those that has been through this or is currently going through this. I want to
provide different steps workers can take if they feel they are being bullied in their workplace.
According to the Workplace BullyingInstitute (2015) workplace bullying is repeated, health
harming mistreatment of one or more persons (the targets) by one or more perpetrators. Bullying
in the workplace is one of the most contemporary problems I feel that we are faced with today.
According to the Waitt Institute (2016) Workplace Bullying is an Epidemic and 37% of American
workers, an estimated 54 million people, have been bullied at work.
Types of Bullying
There are different types of bullying that take place. Workplace bullying can consist of verbal
abuse using choice words such as a form of attacking another person. Another type of bullying can
be offensive behavior that can consist of verbal or nonverbal, it can also be threatening and
humiliating, or intimidating actions towards another person. Workplace bullying can also be a
person interfering with another person work such as trying to sabotage their work. Bullying can be
aggressive towards another person with threats or screams.

AN OVERVIEW OF MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS 2
Abstract
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system. The
characteristics of MS are demyelination and axonal loss. The etiology of MS is unknown, and
there is no cure. Diagnosis to confirm MS has been complicated but is now improved with
acceptance of the revised 2010 McDonald Criteria. The disease produces numerous physical and
mental symptoms which require both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These lesions, consist mostly of dead nerve cells, whose axons have lost their myelin sheaths that
normally protect them and permit the conduction of nerve impulse.
(Joy JE, Johnston RB, 2001) This immune system attack of the body s own myelin sheath is
why MS appears to be an autoimmune disease. MS is a chronic degenerative disease that usually
begins in young adulthood and destroys muscular control. Most people will live with MS for
many years after their diagnosis. MS reduces life expectancy by only about ten fifteen years, and
about half of the patients survive thirty years or more from onset. (Joy JE, Johnston RB, 2001)
Approximately eight five percent of MS patients begin with relapsing remitting disease, as in optic
neuritis, or several separate systems at the same time, for example, combined motor and sensory
problems. Attacks involving single neural systems are somewhat more common in the first MS
relapse. Most patients experience their second attack within two to three years of the first, but five
percent of patients remain free of relapses for fifteen years or more. In most cases,

Analysis Of The Boys In The Boat By Daniel James Brown
The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown is a true story which illustrates the importance of
grit and perseverance in the face of challenging situations. Throughout his troubled upbringing,
Joe Rantz faces depressing and unfortunate events. When he was young, his mother dies, and his
father remarries a harsh woman, Thula, who treats Joe dreadfully. His father can t hold a job,
and his family keeps moving from town to town, which negatively impacts his social life.
Eventually, Thula threatens to end the marriage with Joe s father unless Joe leaves the family. Joe
s father accepts Thula s request, and he abandons Joes when he is only fifteen years old. Yet in the
midst of living independently at such a young age, Joe perseveres through the challenges and
achieves his life s dreams. When he is left with almost nothing, his drive to succeed ultimately
leads to his triumph at rowing and to his winning of an Olympic gold medalin Berlin.
Rejection. Hate. Unworthiness. That s how I felt when the car slowly eased out of the driveway,
leaving me behind. From my childhood, my stepmother, Thula, loathed me and treated me like
an unneeded burden. She blamed me for her misfortunes and screamed at me whenever she
faced problems. When I was only fifteen years old, her hatred towards me erupted and my family
abandoned me to live by myself in a broken, unfinished farm. I couldn t believe that my own
father, who I have always looked up to, would so suddenly leave me. Due to his absence, I

Roles of Women in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
In Frankenstein penned by Mary Shelley, one cannot help but notice the role of women in the
novel compared to men. Even though Mary Shelley is the daughter of Mary Wollstonecraft, a
mother advocating for women s rights in society, she displays the roles of Caroline, Elizabeth,
and Justine as passive women. This may be the time period when women were considered inferior
to men. Caroline, Elizabeth, and Justine are depicted as possessions by men, admired for their
superficial beauty, and do not take action without the permission of men. On the other hand,
Shelley illustrates Safie as a woman who speaks up for her own rights when her father forbids her
to find Felix. The three points that contribute greatly to the passive role of women are... Show more

Elizabeth desires to understand how Victor is doing in college. However, as Victor s possession,
Elizabeth can only visit Victor under the approval of Victor s father. Also, in another letter that
Elizabeth writes to Victor while Victor is in England, Elizabeth asks Victor if he has fallen in love
with another woman. Elizabeth points out, Tell me, dearest Victor. Answer me, I conjure you, by
our mutual happiness, with simple truth Do you love another (Shelley 166). Due to Victor s lack
in response to Elizabeth s letters, Elizabeth becomes worried about her love for Victor. Although
Elizabeth comprehends her love for Victor during her childhood years, she has no right to prevent
Victor to fall in love with another woman. Elizabeth s role as Victor s possession illustrates how
only Victor can choose whether he wants Elizabeth or the other woman.
Similarly, Justine displays her passivity when she cannot prove her innocence for the murder of
William Frankenstein. In the article, The Ghost of a Self , Vanessa Dickerson describes Justine as,
an innocent, sensitive, beautiful, and loving servant who is unjustly executed for the murder of
little William Frankenstein (85). Justine desires to prove her innocence, but as a household servant
in the Frankenstein family, only Victor s appearance in court will prove her innocence. Elizabeth
also wants to prove Justine s innocence. However, as Victor s possession, Elizabeth s stance of
Justine s innocence is also

What Does Flanders Symbolize
With a sword in my hand , follows the early years of Marguerite of Male from the year 1348. The
novel displays the strange beliefs and rules which the society of Flanders followed. These
people lived by the rules of the church but they also believed in superstitions found in the living
and the non living. The people of Flanders were very religious and closely followed the rules of
the church. In the novel, one of these rules were that people as closely related as fourth cousins
could not get married. This is displayed through the Popes reply to Marguerite s letter. it appears
he has discovered, upon a thorough examination of many branches of the family tree of the world
s great nobility, that you two are cousins ... and that is forbidden by the church and by god . This
proved that Marguerite and Edmund could not get married and fulfill their holy matrimony.
Another rule found in Flanders was that a married couple could not separate until one of them died.
This meant that Marguerite was the only heir to Flanders, as her little brother Boudewijn died and
her mother could not bare her father any more children. It brings... Show more content on

The Causes Of Hurricane Katrina
At the time Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast of the United States on August 29, 2005; it had a
category 3 rating on the Saffir Simpson Hurricane scale, besides it maintained winds having a

payments incurred by the National Flood Insurance amounting to US dollars 13 billion. The
hurricane, affected the states of Louisiana, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida (CNN,

the National Response Plan; which the House Katrina Investigation Committee established to have
been implemented late, incompetently, or did not follow the instituted National Response Plan by
the United StatesDepartment of Homeland Security (United States House, 2006). The response and
rescue mission became a subject of investigation and also led to the resignation of the then director
of Federal Emergency Management Agency [FEMA], Michael Brown. Additionally, many other
officials of the federal government received criticism concerning their inappropriate responses.
Furthermore, it sparked a declaration of a state of emergency in certain states by the President.

The Shipm An Older Man Who Walked With The Most Subtle Essay
The Shipman was an older man who walked with the most subtle of limps in his step. His eyes
twinkled when spoke of the sea and of his family. When he laughed, his whole body shook. He
was a friendly sort and spoke easily with most of the company, only seeming to become quiet
around those he considered vile, such as the Doctor or any that spoke wrongly of a woman or
Ethiopian. Some of the company teased him about his quick fingers and how he used them to take
wine from the captains quarters, and he simply glowed with pride. When it was his turn to tell a
tale, the company gathered around eagerly. Each was certain that someone so experienced would
know a few great ones. However, an unusual bashfulness came over the man, as if he forgot he
would have to tell a tale at all. After a few playful jibes, though, he began to speak.
The Shipman s Tale
Many years ago, in a village that was not too different from any other, there lived a poor son of
blacksmith named Fendrel who dreamt of being a knight. The other villagers looked down upon
the lad for his aspirations, citing his father s occupation and his mother s birthplace as their reasons,
yet he paid little attention to their scoffing. He trained, night and day, until he was the best
horserider and fighter the village had to boast about.
Of course, the better he became, the more word of his skill spread throughout the kingdom.
Eventually, rumor of a lad already more capable than all of the kingsman reached the ear of the

Analysis of William Wordsworth s Poem We Are Seven Essay
Analysis of William Wordsworth s Poem We Are Seven
William Wordsworth s poem, We are Seven, is about a person talking to a young girl about her
and her six siblings. Throughout the poem, the narrator gave the young girl a very difficult time
when she persisted that simply because not all seven children were home together, or alive, they
were still seven. The narrator was giving the young girl a hard time because he wanted her to
remember and understand that just because she and her siblings are separated does not make them
any less siblings.
Wordsworth says that two of the seven siblings are at Conway. In what way would two siblings
being far from home make them be considered not siblings? Would that not be like saying to a ...

In the poem, the little girl says, Two of us in the church yard lie, / My sister and my brother;
(Lines 21 22). Insisting that they are still seven, the young girl shows a lot of grace and mature
understanding. This is the majority of the poem because the narrator thinks it is most important
that the young girl understands she has still has five siblings, despite two of them have passed
and, their graves are green, they may be seen (Line 37). The girl is only eight years of age and
she understands that her deceased siblings are still her siblings even though they are not still
living. Making sure she understands she still has five siblings is exactly what the narrator s goal
is, but the narrator is pretending to believe they are only five. The narrator reinforces his belief
in lines 35 36: If two are in the church yard laid,/ Then ye are only five. The conversation
resurfaces later in the poem, in lines 61 64: How many are you, then, said I,/ If they two are in
heaven?/ Quick was the little Maid s reply,/ O Master! We are seven. No matter what is said by
the narrator, the eight year old girl insists that they are seven. Two siblings being dead is the most
reinforced because the narrator and the little girl know that her siblings at Conway or at sea are
anticipated to return home sometime. The other two, the deceased two, will never return home.
The small gal lightly touches on two of her other siblings who are

Who Is Dennis Depue Responsible For The Murder Of Jeepers...
While most horror movies are made up with creepy ghosts, vampires and murderers, Jeepers
Creepers was originally based on a real story. The winged monster and other details were
fabricated, but the essential story was based on Dennis DePue. At the time of the filming,
DePue had not yet been caught for his crime. A Wife Is Murdered In 1990, Dennis DePue was
on the run. According to authorities, DePue murdered his wife and left her body behind an
empty schoolhouse. Since he was never charged, the real reasons for the murder are unknown.
Most people think that DePue s wife filed for divorce, and he killed her in a fit of rage. He would
never have been discovered, but an unlucky turn of events led to him becoming the main suspect.
While DePue was finishing up with his wife, Ray and Marie Thornton happened to drive along the
same stretch of road. As he left, he followed them in his van for a few miles and ultimately
reported it to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While is it a thrilling (some might say completely terrifying) feature, fans may be surprised to
learn that the story itself might not be completely rooted in fantasy. Eleven years before Jeepers
Creepers was even created, fugitive Dennis DePue was on the run, being sought by the police,
after the body of his wife Marilyn was discovered abandoned behind a church. And episode of
Unsolved Mysteries aired the details of the brutal murder of Marilyn DePue almost a year after
her death. The early part of the movie copied the dialogue and scenes from the Unsolved Mysteries
episode. Interestingly, film director Victor Salva credited Steven Spielberg s Duel as the inspiration
instead of Unsolved Mysteries. He may have imagined that no one would make the connection, but
the similarities were noticed by viewers. The Final

Modernism In A Soldier s Home
Modernist literature began between 1915 1935, writers mainly wrote fiction this is because they
started to question what the future was going to bring since they were living through both World
War. Modernists wrote their stories in first person which made their stories seem like a stream of
consciousness, irony and satires. This type of literature was mainly written in English and became
well known due to the increase of globalization, which was more about how the people felt about
the events going on and how the people were affected in other words it spoke from the inner self of
the writer. Many famous writers including Ernest Hemingway, Langston Hughes, and F. Scott

  • 5. Inductive Reasoning In The Enlightenment The Enlightenment was a philosophical time period that was placed in the eighteenth century. It was also known as the Age of Reason . Most thinkers argued that the things of nature could be understood by using human reason. This time period is when people began to question certain authorities. People began to notice that the sake of humanity could be fixed or saved by using reason to think and improve society. Although they sometimes differed in favoring inductive or deductive reasoning, Enlightenment thinkers often worked towards the same general goal which was changing society for the better by using science, logic, and education. Most Enlightenment thinkers either used inductive reasoning or deductive reasoning. Inductive reasoning or thinking means that a specific thing is used to create a broader theory. Deductive reasoning is where one would take a general idea and narrow it down towards a specific reason or idea. Some people that used these kinds of reasoning were Immanuel Kant, John Locke, James Cook, Jean Jacques Rousseau, and RenГ© Descartes. Immanuel Kant was one of the many philosophers that used inductive reasoning approach. According to Immanuel Kant, Enlightenment was a man s growth from his own self imposed immaturity. He thought the motto of the Enlightenment was along the lines of one should not be afraid to use their own knowledge to understand things. He also thought that laziness and cowardice were two reasons why men acted or performed the way they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Kindertransport Essay Discuss the role of the Ratcatcher in this extract and elsewhere in the play. The play Kindertransport written by Diane Samuels rotates immensely around the Ratcatcher. The Ratcatcher s role in this extract and the whole play can be interpreted in many ways. The given extract begins with Helga reluctantly agreeing to read The Ratcatcher as a bedtime story to Eva. The reasons for Helga s reluctance remain ambiguous as the play proceeds with Helga reading the book simultaneous to Faith who is in a different setting also reading the same book. The following scene is of Eva frantically leaving in a train. Helga s hesitancy in this extract as Eva requests The Ratcatcher books suggests an underlying implication that the tale is similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the play proceeds the Ratcatcher also takes upon a number of different characters such as the Nazi Border Official, the English Organiser, the Station Guard, etc. All of these are portray threatening and patronising characters that stereotype her or simply authoritative figures. This reflects the author s attempt to present to the reader the different viewpoints of the society about the Jews and refugees such as Eva. In addition another key factor which has a significant impact on the manner in which the Ratcatcher s role can be interpreted is the language used to describe him in the given extract. He is described as someone who hisses the aggressive words I will find you. The use of the strong verb I will indicates a threatening and predatory tone. A similarly threatening tone is used further into the play by an officer who exclaims Sir! Sorry Sir indicating Eva to repeat after him. The stage directions also state that the officer bodysearches Eva which reflect his threatening and patronising character. The similar character of authority figures to the Ratcatcher suggests that perhaps these figures are just the reality version of the Ratcatcher. The Ratcatcher Music is one of the factors frequently referred to in the stage directions of the play. Soon in the play it is evident that the music is often added into the scene in which ... The political party system in our society today is separated between the Democrats and the Republicans. Although political parties do possess uncertainties their advantages outweigh their drawbacks in America. The United Statesof America is made up of two basic political parties, the Democratic Partyand the Republican Party. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The nation is aware of the benefits political parties hold, and they are also are aware of their hindrances. Numerous Americans oppose the political party system, because of their potential to negatively hinder our society. They disagree with the system so much that they would rather see the political party system abolished than see it reformed. I understand fully that the political party system has their issues. For instance, our political party system does not offer equality for all parties. In our society, our party system operates under the two party system, if we had three or more parties running they would not have a fair chance. We only examine are two leading political parties in our ballots. The system lacks equality which can be extremely unsetting to voters who support the less popular parties. We are known as the land of equal opportunity, yet we contradict ourselves. In addition, political parties can be selfish and they do not always focus on what is beneficial to our nation as a whole. Political parties will focus on their interest and their end goals that will only benefit them. The list goes on but I do not believe abolishing the party system is the answer. Abolishing the political party system would be to extreme, but I do believe the party system needs to be reformed. Instead of parties receiving funds from wealthy corporations there should be ... • 8. Pythagoras Is A Bit Of A Mysterious Figure Pythagoras of Samos is a bit of a mysterious figure. There are many different accounts of his early and midlife, some of which contradict each other. One thing that is common among all the records is his mathematical achievements. When it comes to math, he played an extremely large part in the development of mathematics. Pythagoras was born in 570 BC in Samos. Most of the information that can be found today about Pythagoras was written a few centuries after he died in 495 BC. His mother was a native of the island Pythagoras was born on. His father was a merchant from Tyre. During his early childhood Pythagoras stayed in Samos, but as he grew older he would accompany his dad on his trading trips. Due to travelling with his dad he studied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Odd numbers were thought of as female and even numbers as male. Out of all the numbers Pythagoras believed that the number ten was the holiest number. He believed this because it was made up of the first 4 digits, and when arranged in 4 rows of points it made a triangle. Pythagoras also discovered prime numbers and composite numbers. He also did some research relating to perfect numbers (the sum of the divisors is equal to the number). The number 6 is an example of a perfect number. (3+2+1=6) He discovered that 28 was also a perfect number, and his students later found 496 and 8128 to be perfect numbers as well. Pythagoras biggest mathematical work was the Pythagorean Theorem. This theorem had already been discovered by the Babylonians, but Pythagoras was the first to prove that it was correct. This theorem relates to the three sides of a right triangle. It states that the square of a hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other sides. The formula for this is a^2+b^2=c^2. In this formula a and b = the two shorter sides of the right triangle. C is equal to the side that is opposite of the right angle, or the hypotenuse. • 9. Personality As An Understanding Of Personality As an understanding of personality, it is said that the essential paradigms of a personality are defined by individual s characteristics and behaviour. However over a period of time an individual s personality can change due to genetics and the altering nature of the environment they are placed within. Personality is in reference to individuals variances in their patterns of feeling, thinking and behaving (Encyclopedia of Psychology: 8 Volume Set, 2000). This essay will be focusing on the basic dimensions of a personality and also the factors influencing personality change. This then will be contrasted against a study that develops that personality does not change over time. Personality not only changes over time and experience but also manipulates as the individual goes through varying facades within their life. Several personality psychologists believe that personality is defined by five dimensions as suggested by McCrae and Costa (The Big Five dimensions of personality?, V.Egan, 1988). This was found by testing the conduct group by allowing them to choose a solution to a question that the teste believed was most suitable and thus showed that the test groups had presented 5 dominant characteristics, extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness (The Big Five dimensions of personality?, V.Egan, 1988). Extroversion is looking into the individual s excitability, sociability and the high amounts of emotional expression (Very Well, 2016). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are about 1.5 million children and youth that are brought over undocumented. . In the book Lives in Limbo there is a saying which goes ni de aqui ni de alla meaning that they don t feel like they belong to either side. They know they don t belong here because everyone is telling them they don t belong but then they don t belong from where they came from because they grew up here and that s all they know. Many of these children are often faced with discrimination, racial profiling, bullying, forcibly taken away from their families and even deportation. These events can not only scar them but cause them severe issues while growing up. They can become depressed, have anxiety, PTSD, and become socially isolated. These children should not have to experience these types of situations. Many of these children lose their only support system . • 11. How the Battle of Midway was the Turning Point of WW2 for... In May of 1942, Japanese Admiral Isorosku Yamamoto devised a plan to draw the US Pacific fleet into battle where he could completely destroy it. To accomplish this master plan of his, he sought out the invasion of Midway Island which would provide a base for the Japan troops to attack Hawaii. Unfortunately for Yamamoto, America decrypted Japanese radio transmissions and Admiral Chester Nimitz was able to establish a counter attack against this offensive. Nimitz sent three aircraft carriers, The USS Enterprise, The USS Hornet and The USS Yorktown to destroy the Japanese. This is just a short overview of The Battle of Midway, or as commonly referred to as, the battle that changed the war. People argue that it had no affect on the war, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was a severe psychological shock to the nation of Japan. The Army thought Japan s main interest was in the war in China and defending Manchuria against the Soviet Union. Its support for the Navy s southern strategy was limited due to the fact that it conflicted with its interests and was the reason many Army divisions were willing to divide. This indifference was the decline of the influence of the Naval General Staff over the planning of naval strategy of the Combined Fleet under Admiral Yamamoto. This was in due to the personality of Yamamoto and his low opinion of the Chief of the Naval General Staff, as well as his opinion after the success of the attack on Pearl Harbor . What might have been a major strategic opportunity wound up being nothing, as the Germans offered no proposals for joint operations under the new Tripartite Axis agreement. It was important that the Japanese lure the remainder of the US Pacific Fleet to battle around Midway and that the Imperial Navy achieve a strategic victory as Yamamoto believed that Japan could then offer peace to the United States from a position of strength. Yamamoto added Carrier Division 5 to the naval forces assigned to the operation which increased the risks to the Midway operation. The Combined Fleet plan was finalized and presented to the Naval General Staff on April 2. Yamamoto played the resignation card as he strongly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. In Consideration of School Uniforms Essay School Uniforms A group of small boys and girls all wearing the same colored school uniforms assembled in front of a catholic school is what I imagine when thinking about school uniforms. This is probably what most people imagine. They have been attached to students of European and private schools. This would not be limited to academic performances only but should also include other socially learned behavior that will enhance the students ability to conform to the social norms needed to be successful in today s society. People for uniforms say that the academic performance has been and will increase by having the students ware them (Caruso 1996). Burpo did a outstanding job keeping the reader engaged and wanting more by somehow creating cliffhangers after every chapter. Whether it was whether Colton was going to make it out of surgery or mid conversation about Colton s still born sister, Burpo made it impossible to not start the next chapter to find out the answer or details to the newest bomb Colton dropped on his parents. Typically, we do not associate the sheer bridal veil with Islam, rather it is fused with images of a black cloak, a chador, covering a Muslim woman from head to toe in Iran (Amer, 10). Unfortunately, the media plays another role in this as this is how many movies, television programs, and newspapers have portrayed these women. Using concepts learned from the unit, theory as learned, can be applied to business situations and enables them to review situations in a nonlinear view. As quoted in the study guide To answer such questions using an economics looking glass we first have to define what economics is. Economics is a way of thinking. (Walker Murphy 2013). Traditionally, workers in siloed organisations, may concentrate and look at problems within the business relevant to their specific requirements, however, from an economic decision making point of view we can make a more informed decision. eg. This is because the audit firm was not under a contract agreement with the major shareholder, and the fact that the major shareholder can be considered a third party in the contract between Jimmy Farnham and Aussie Outback Tours Ltd. The law is not definitively clear on the auditor s liability to third parties (Porter, Г“ hГ“gartaigh Baskerville, 2012). An auditor owes a duty of care to their direct client, and any damages incurred by the client due to negligence on the part of the auditor makes the auditor liable in terms of contract and also in tort (Nguyen Rajapakse, 2008). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The solution that was performed in this experiment was to use sulfuric acid in order to form a protonated alcohol, so when the halogen or nucleophile back attacks the compound, water is displaced. Once the alcohol is protonated, the solution reacts in either an SN1 or SN2 mechanism. A unimolecular nucleophilic substitution or SN1 is a two step reaction that occurs with a first order reaction. The rate limiting step, which is the first step, forms a carbocation. This would be the slowest step in the mechanism. The addition of the nucleophile speeds up the reaction and stabilizes the carbocation. This reaction is more favorable with tertiary and sometimes secondary alkyl halides under strong basic or acidic conditions with secondary or tertiary alcohols. In this experiment, the t butyl halide underwent an SN1 reaction. Nucleophiles do not necessarily effect the reaction because the nucleophile is considered zero order, (which makes it a first order reaction.) The ion that should have the strongest effect in an SN1 reaction is the bromide ion. The bromide ion should be stronger because it has a lower electronegativity than chloride as well as a smaller radius. In a bimolecular nucleophilic substitution or SN2 reaction, there is only one step. This occurs because the addition of the nucleophile and the elimination of the leaving group spontaneously occur at the same time. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because the Oligarchy viewed the Indians as disposable labor, they did not feel the need to treat them to prevent their numbers from dwindling. Instead, the Spanish replaced them with slaves imported from Africa (Montgomery 71). This was one of the first signs of inequality brought to El Salvador by the Oligarchy. In the seventeenth century, the demand for cacao dropped. As a result of this, El Salvador plunged into an economic depression, and the Oligarchy had to find a new source of revenue, which they found in indigo (Montgomery 71). Indigo was profitable because of the increase in demand for textiles in Europe at this time (Krauss 59 60). This led the Oligarchy to increase its acquisition of land in El Salvador, which was mainly inhabited by the native Indians. On top of being extremely lucrative, indigo was far less labor intensive than cacao was, so it became the main focus of El Salvador s agriculture by 1600 (Montgomery 71). Unfortunately, these developments had high costs for the Indian populations. When the indigo rotted, diseases would be brought to the Indian villages that cultivated it, killing off entire villages in several instances. When this happened, they were merely replaced by another tribe (Krauss 60). Eventually the mistreatment of the Indians by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Priestly was a resolute socialist and had very socialist views. This essay will explore some of the techniques Priestly uses to present the Inspector. The Inspector as soon as he is introduced has authority and is commanding of the situation. You can see this from the following quote, at once an impression of massiveness, solidity and purposefulness . Priestly presents the Inspector as a strong believer in socialism, meaning that he greatly cares for his fellow citizens and believes that everyone should be treated equally and fairly. You can see this towards the end of the play when the Inspector makes a speech, which outlines his political views. He says that we should look after each other and stop thinking about ourselves so much, We don t live alone. We are members of one body. We are responsible for each other. This just shows how extreme his belief in socialism is and how he thinks people should live. We know that, Priestly also had socialist opinions, very similar to those of the Inspector. So you may say that, Priestly used the inspector as a mouthpiece to deliver his left wing views and his ideas on society at that time. However, you could think that the Inspector wasn t strictly socialist; he just thinks that people no matter what their social class should be treated fairly ( I don t think this). In my opinion, most of the audience would think of the Inspector as a socialist due to his obvious beliefs and speech at the end of the play. They d probably agree with what he says and also think that the Birling family was wrong to do and think the way they did. This would result in them possibly thinking that capitalism is wrong. • 31. Developmental Theories, Erikson And Freud Essay What is development? Development is A progressive increase in the function of the body. (growth and development book) As a nurse it is vital to understand what development means and how people develop, especially children. In this essay I will talk about two very important developmental theories, Erikson and Freud. In addition, compare their similarities and their differences. Erikson was a psychologist who was greatly influenced by Freud. Although influenced by Freud there are some differences in there developmental stages. Erikson believed that development in an individual was molded by society, culture, and environment. While Freud s belief was that development is in some way is influenced by the fixation of sexual interest of different areas of the body. The stages in Erikson s development theory outline how important social experiences can shape us. While Freud s theory is mainly based on ones sexuality. Additionally the other significant difference between Erikson s and Freud s theories is the outcome of a particular stage. Erikson believed that the outcome of a certain stage was not permanent and that it could be changed later on in life. While Freud presumed that if an individual became fixated on a stage problems associated with that stage would be carried on through life. On the other hand, there are many similarities between the two developmental theories. Both Erikson and Freud believed that each task must be completed or the conflict must be resolved in ... • 35. Reflective Beliefs Of AquinasTeaching On The Eucharist Aquinas teaching on the Eucharist has offered many new and distinctive insights to me. One of these insights is when Aquinas asks the question whether one should distinguish the two ways of eating Christ s body. The two ways are spiritually and sacramentally. His opponents argue there is no need to and I thought the same as well, because eating the bread and drinking the wine would encompass both. However, after reading Aquinas I answer , it became clear to me that there is a twofold division between the sacrament itself and the effect of it. An example my professor gave is if a mouse ate some bread and wine. The mouse is not mindful and because of that, it only participated in the physical aspect of the Eucharist, but not with its effect. You must be mindful to appreciate the symbols of bread and wine or there will be more harm than good if you are not attentive of what God is doing. A quote from Aquinas that helped me understand this better is when he says, but the sacramental eating that does not secure the effect is contrasted with spiritual eating, just as the imperfect, which does not attain perfection of its species, is contrasted with the perfect (ST 3.80.1). What he means by this is that just by merely participating in the sacrament alone without the effect is like doing something in an imperfect way. The perfect way of doing this is by complete eating, which is receiving both the visible and invisible effects. Aquinas also offers some strong arguments against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Between the end of the Civil War and the early twentieth century, the United States underwent one of the most rapid and profound economic revolutions any country has ever experienced. There were numerous causes for this explosive economic growth. The country enjoyed abundant natural resources, a growing supply of labor, an expanding market for manufactured goods, and the availability of capital for investment. The uprising of big businesses, railroads, and factory transformed America from being based on small farm work into an industrial powerhouse. During the Second Industrial Revolution the role of big business in federal and state governments was a monumental turning point in the history of this country, setting a foundation which has come to play a big role in government policy today. In a time period where the American Government did not have a real system in place for becoming an elected official, a great portion of the government was corrupted by people put in place by owners of big businesses and in turn they agreed to pass laws or do other favors for their benefit. This is the majority of the poem because the narrator thinks it is most important that the young girl understands she has still has five siblings, despite two of them have passed and, their graves are green, they may be seen (Line 37). The girl is only eight years of age and she understands that her deceased siblings are still her siblings even though they are not still living.
