A Reflection On Physical Aggression
Physical aggression Narcissism is linked to low empathy, and aggressive reactions to threat.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that it has been linked to physical aggression as well (Blinkhorn,
Lyons, Almond, 2016). Baumeister and colleagues (1996, as discussed in Maples et al., 2010) suggest
the threatened egotism hypothesis, which claims that when the positive view of the self of a
narcissistic individual is attacked by others, violence may result. Hence, why narcissistic individuals
get aggressive when their self concept is threatened (Maples et al., 2010). Especially individuals with
vulnerable narcissism get in a shame rage cycle. Their sense of entitlement makes them think they
deserve more, yet they doubt this sentiment at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This might explain why high rates of narcissistic personality styles were found in women arrested for
intimidate partner violence (Simmons, Lehmann, Cobb, Fowler, 2005).
Psychological abuse Psychological abuse should not be overlooked when one looks at intimidate
partner violence. Narcissism often has negative consequences, such as pain and suffering, in romantic
partners, due to mainly antagonistic and intrusive behaviours (Lamkin, Campbell, vanDellen Miller,
2015). Narcissistic individuals see themselves as better looking, smarter, and more socially
extraverted than their partner when having grandiose narcissism (Campbell, Foster, Finkel, 2002).
They often use interpersonal relationships to enhance and maintain their self concept (Lamkin,
Campbell, vanDellen, Miller, 2015). This predicts an exploitative and selfish approach to interpersonal
relationships that include a lack of empathy, game playing, and infidelity. Since the initial stages of the
relationship are often very positive. The interpersonal difficulties become apparent over time (Miller,
Campbell, Pilkonis, 2007). Narcissism is linked to a game playing love style, aversion to partner
dependence, deception, and attention to other potential partners. Receiving the benefits of the
relationship without paying the costs.

Abercrombie and Fitch
Abercromie amp; Fitch
Abercrombie and Fitch Co. (« A amp;F ») is an international fashion retailer selling apparel, fragance
and luxury products to young customers. The brand describes itself as « casual luxury ».
They developed a strong brand image based on provocative communication and specific in store
experience that fits with the cool lifestyle it promotes. However, sales have been dropping for years
and do not seem to be going in the future. In 2013, the firm closed about 220 mall stores and entering
December 2014, profits were expected about $106 milions, less than half of what they had been in
2012.
Fitch s performance is declining fastly, and it can be explained through internal and external factors.
Some of these factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today A amp;F still do not have a permanent CEO.
While the lack of competitive advantage and some public relations blunders serve as internal reasons
for poor performance, A amp;F s competitors, economic context and consumer s changing behavior
constitue external elements that can also explained the firm s decline. Eco context :The economic
condition can also affect the firm s performance. The apparel industry is a very cyclical industry that is
highly correlated to the economic context. Indeed, consumers are more likely to refrain from
purchasing non necessary goods in a period of recession. Moreover, with the ongoing economic
situation, existing international stores are touched and this can affect productivity and future opening
projects. Furthemore, this openess is limited to some factors such as exchange rate or local
government policies. A amp;F s international subsidaries often operate with currencies other than US
dollar. Thus, the risk of currency variation is higher when international expansion rises.
Competition :During slow economic time, competitors have been quick to lower their prices, however
A amp;F has continually refused, thinking that it would have tanish their brand. In the retail industry,
how a brand is perceived by its potential consumers is a crucial part to the success or failure of that
company because there is not a lot of difference in product features or quality.

Captivity Narrative Essay
One of the most popular music producers today, William Moore, also known as DJ Esco, once found
himself locked up in a jail in Dubai. He was held Captive for 56 days. In one of the songs he
produced, he told his tale of captivity and how it felt to be amongst a culture that is completely
different from your own. He states in the song that he felt as if he were an alien among the people of
Dubai. This is an example of a captivity narrative. Captivity narratives are usually stories of people
captured by enemies whom they consider uncivilized, or whose beliefs and customs they oppose. A
few other examples of captivity narratives include, Twelve Years a Slave (2013) by Solomon Northup,
Olaudah Equiano s Narrative (1789), and a more up to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the film, Bass asks Edwin Epps about the treatment and conditions of his slaves, which were horrid,
and Epps replies with, They ain t hired help. They re my property. (McQueen) One last example of
people being held captive would be the Iranian Hostage Crisis. 52 hostages were held in an embassy
for 444 days. While they were never severely injured, the hostages endured awful treatment by their
captors; they were displayed in front of cameras blindfolded, they could not talk, read, or change
clothes. (Iran Hostage Crisis) There are a number of ways one can escape captivity, according to these
narratives. In Equiano s narrative, he achieves freedom by purchasing it from his owner, Robert King,
for 40 pounds. What! said he, give you your freedom? Why, where did you get the money; have you
got forty pounds sterling? Yes sir, I answered. How did you get it ; replied he; I told him, Very
honestly. The captain then said he knew I got the money very honestly, and with much industry, and
that I was particularly careful. (Equiano 719 720) In Twelve Years a Slave, Northup gains his freedom
by escaping Louisiana and fleeing to New York and thus gaining his freedom in 1853. The

Walt Whitman s The Things They Carried
Mankind has always been fascinated with literature throughout history, writing stories of history and
of fantasy. Authors don t start out famous and are sometimes forced to witness mankind s most
abhorred creation, war. Some authors are just journalists who are sent to cover the carnage and some
are not yet authors, but will become authors later in history. It is well known many people change after
witnessing or experiencing war, but if could this influence or change their writing style? Walt
Whitman started journalism in 1841. He founded a weekly newspaper called the Long Islander. In
1865, Whitman published his second edition of Leaves of Grass (poets.org). After the start of the Civil
War had started, Whitman went to Washington because he read his brother s name (George Whitman)
on a casualty list from the battle of Fredericksburg. He arrived in time to find his brother with a small
cut on his face and while there he noticed how terrible the sick and wounded were being treated. He
decided that he will do what he can to help and stayed. After the civil war, Whitman published Drum

Pavlov s Classical Conditioning And Skinner s Operant...

PSY 110
Pavlov s Classical Conditioning and Skinner s Operant Conditioning Learning is a relatively
permanent change in behavior due to experience. There are two types of learning, associative learning
and cognitive learning. Associative learning occurs when a person or an animal forms a simple
association among various stimuli, behaviors, or both. It requires little to no awareness or thought.
Cognitive learning refers to understanding, knowing, and anticipating. Our subject today comes from
associative learning. There are two types of associative learning. Ivan Pavlov of Russia, discovered
classical conditioning, and Edward Thorndike discovered operant conditioning. Classical conditioning
is the type of associative learning based on what happens before we respond. It begins with a stimulus
that reliably triggers a behavior as a response. Classical conditioning occurs when you learn to
associate two different stimuli. There is no behavior involved. The first stimulus that you will
encounter is the unconditioned stimulus. Unconditioned stimulus is a stimulus essentially capable of
producing a response without any previous learning. That learning is called an unconditioned
response.
Pavlov conducted a study using dogs. He placed the dogs in a harness and placed a piece of food on
their tongue. A tube was placed to carry saliva from the dogs mouth to a lever measuring the saliva.
Pavlov believed that salivation was an automatic, inherited reflex.

Inheritance Of Traits Of Fruit Flies
Inheritance of Traits in Fruit Flies
Genetics shows us that we inherit traits in many different ways. A perfect example to show us the
different ways we inherit traits is fruit flies. Fruit flies are commonly used by scientists to conduct
genetic experiments due to their reaction to the experiment being very quick. Scientists mainly look at
how the flies inherit basic traits such as brown body color, or red eyes(basic trait flies are known as
wild type flies) from their parents, but sometimes they can come across some abnormal traits. Some of
these abnormal traits include having a yellow body color or having curly shaped wings and have made
scientists wonder how the flies have inherited these specific traits. So how do the flies inherit ... Show

The next row(F2 generation), shows us the offspring numbers of a male and female from the F1
generation. Those numbers give us a ratio of 1:1:1:1 of 1 wild male to 1 yellow male to 1 female wild
to 1 female yellow. This tells us that there is around the same amount offspring for of each type of fly
in the F2 generation.

This next table follows a similar skeleton as the one before. The table gives us an outcome for when
we cross the two parents with each other, and then gives us another outcome by crossing another male
and female from the F1 generation(the first offspring) which creates the F2 generation. So if we look
at the numbers for the F1 generation, we can get about a 2:2 ratio of 2 wild males to 2 wild females.
Then, if we look at the F2 generation we get around a 1:1:2 ratio of 1 wild male to 1 yellow male to 2
female wild. So all of this data tells us that throughout all the generation, none of the offspring turned
out to be female yellow.

Bull Trout Research Paper
Introduction: The Bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus) in the family Salmonidae and are a char native to
Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Montana and western Canada. Compared to other salmonids,
bull trout have more specific habitat requirements that appear to influence their distribution and
abundance (USFWS, 2015). Bull trout were historically regarded as pests due to their voracious
predatory behavior. It was thought that bull trout depleted populations of more desirable game fish by
feeding on them when they were very small thus supposedly depleting the numbers. In fact at one
point there was a bounty placed on bull trout tails in Canada to encourage fisherman to rid the waters
of this Bully, which effectively eliminated them from certain watersheds (Donald, D. B., and D. J.
Alger. 1993). At one time in the early 1900 s the Bull Trout thrived in the waterways of the Northwest.

Suckley in 1859 as Salmo confluentus, and later Linnaeus gave the Char the genus name Salvelinus.
The bull trout s species name (confluentus), which translates roughly from Latin to mean flowing

trout are considered char and are native to the Pacific Northwest and western Canada. The historical
range of bull trout includes major river basins in the Pacific Northwest at about 41 to 60 degrees North
latitude, from the southern limits in the McCloud River in northern California and the Jarbidge River
in Nevada to the headwaters of the Yukon River in the Northwest Territories, Canada (Watson, G. and
T. Hillman. 1997) More westward the bull trout s current range includes Puget Sound, various coastal
rivers of British Columbia, Canada, and southeast Alaska (Behnke, R. J.

people in his/her community. Therefore, what s the point of having a community? In a world full of
differences, what is pulling everyone together? Penn Station. It has been around for a long time and
still remains a significant part of travel. America has been full of people traveling since it was
founded; that s how America was settled and how it grew to be so large. The expansion in the country

It has given to some a home off the street and has been a place of escape. Jennifer Toth explains in her
book, Mole People: Life in the Tunnels Beneath New York City, that there are hard times. The tunnels
around Penn Station were settled and inhabited by a group of people including a man named
Frederick. He had a rough upbringing that affected the rest of his life. He was accepted by the many
people around this area of Penn Station, finally getting a home in this big city. It framed Frederick and
helped him come up with his future dream. Even in this difficult world, the man still had somewhere
to go, with someone to look after him, and have the chance to succeed (Toth). The rough beginning of
his life did not affect him with doing something with his life, in helping create the tunnels for more
trains to come into Penn Station, and something that has significance to others. Penn Station might
have changed people and society, but in the end, society has definitely had an impact on Penn Station
itself. Doctorow also explains how diverse Penn Station is in just 100 and some words. He describes
some refugees sitting on a bench and also a young girl and her father, who are regular citizens trying
to get away from the city, which explains how diverse this one location is. The girl also reveals the

The Justinian Plague Essay
A wide range of food in stores is a hallmark of globalized trade to western consumers. The ability to
buy out of season and exotic products at any given time is an often referenced and cherished aspect of
globalization. Health risks resulting from the movements of people and goods are not a new problem,

Plants and animals have been modified by traditional means since the advent of pastoralism and
agriculture through selective breeding. Naturally, humans will strive to improve upon this process
which afforded mankind with the ability to even begin building societies. The true issue with GMO s
is the oversight and business aspect. Private companies modifying plants to force farmers to buy seeds
annually allows them to recoup their costs and turn a profit but comes with a whole sleuth of ethical
and health implications. On the other hand, with farming land and water becoming scarce and earth s
population rapidly growing in many regions, one can t deny the vital importance of GMO s. Taking all
this into consideration I believe the discussion should not be centered on the merit or acceptability of
GMO s, but rather regulation, oversight, ethical standards, and research, allowing for a logical
development to take place in a transparent, efficient and fair manner. I believe that a topic so central to
all of the mankind needs to be centralized to a degree in everybody s interest. There needs to be a
sense of communal ownership, with strong limitations on patenting organisms, while also ensuring the
financial viability of development, either through subsidies or other

How Does Lawrence s Use Of Juxtaposition
In D.H Lawrence s novel The Rainbow the woman is faced with a situation: a lust for a different life.
One that is not based on blood intimacy like the ideals of her rural family. One that allowed her to face
away from the pulsing heat of the sun and explore the magic land where men were dominant and
creative. However, it is a dream that she may never achieve. Since he used literary devices such as
Irony and juxtaposition, it allowed him to characterize the woman and capture her situation.
One literary device that he chose to used in order to capture the woman s situation was Irony. The
Irony is created by the woman s house. One would expect that if she wanted to leave her house and

The juxtaposition was created by the description of the two types of men. In the story both men share
a common trait of power. However, lawrence began to further explain how The vicar moved in worlds
beyond where her own menfolk existed. Did she not know her own menfolk; fresh, slow, full built
men, masterful enough, but easy, native to the earth laking outwardness and range of motion. Whereas
the vicar, dark and dry and small beside her husband had yet a quickness and a range of being made
Brangwen, in his large geniality, seem dull and local (Lawrence). This explains the difference between
the two men. This explains how the woman s husband is strong and has a deep connection with the
earth. Her husband does not need a lot to make himself happy and is content with his limited
knowledge that allows him to work the land. The other description was of the vicar who was satisfied
with small, clean and was capable of doing multiple task. The juxtaposition between the men helps to
characterize the woman by showing what she does and does not want. She wants to live like the vicar,
a life with more mindful and individualistic activities. She does not want a life that is connectied to the

Up until the 20th century music in North America showed a clear distinction between race and social

The Man In The High Castle Analysis
Human Reliance on Outside Forces
We live in the world our questions create (David Cooperrider). Inquiry is the base of society, all
answers come from questions that were once asked. Questioning can influence people s decisions to
act in certain ways and determine how they live, and people s lives change the world. The Man in the
High Castle, written by Philip K Dick, follows a full cast of characters from an endangered Jewish
man named Frank Frink to a high up Japanese man named Mr. Tagomi. The book takes place in a
world after World War Two, but one very different from present time, a world where Germany and
Japan, along with the other Axis powers, won the war. The planet is overcome with racism and
distrust. Jewish people are killed every day and the ones still alive are forced into hiding and change
their names. Both men live very different lives, Frink is in hiding as a Jew while Tagomi is a wealthy
antique seller. The one thing they have in common is the I Ching, a highly regarded oracle of sorts. It
predicts the future and provides advice along with it; and everyone follows that advice no matter what
they are told. They do this partially because after the Axis powers won the war, every person was
required to have an I Ching in their home. This caused the residents to become reliant on the oracle for
their every need. The I Ching provides advice in the form of special hexagrams which have a
corresponding prophecy of sorts. In The Man in the High Castle Philip K.

Juxtaposition King Lear
Essay Question: Alexander Pope has said that King Lear is a play that centre around opposition and
juxtaposition. Discuss with reference to symbolism, metaphor, motif, plot or character whether you
believe the statement is accurate.
King Lear is about the tragic events and the conflicts between fathers and their children. In the play
King Lear written by William Shakespeare has many motifs and symbolism throughout the play.
Alexander Pope was an English poet who had said King Lear is a play centered around opposition and
juxtaposition. Although there is a parallel story between King Lear and Gloucester, the motifs and
symbolism in this play contrasts from one another in different ways. I believe what Alexander Pope
has said was quite accurate because of the motifs and symbolism that affects one another with a
juxtaposition affect.
Many of the motifs and symbolism in the play are opposites from one another. One of the motifs that
happens frequently throughout the play was loyalty and betrayal. In the play Lear has three daughters
named Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia. This happened in the beginning of the play where King Lear
wanted to retire and give bigger portions of his land based on the daughter who loved him most.
Goneril and Regan praised their love for Lear but Cordelia refused to do so. In Act 1 Scene 1 (Li 101
102), Cordelia says ...I love your Majesty, according to my bond no more no less. This indicates that
although Cordelia loves Lear very dearly she refused to lie to get land from her father. Unlike her
sisters who have boasted about their love for Lear who they don t love him to that extent and lies. It
seems as if Cordelia is the sign of betrayal but Cordelia is actually a sign of loyalty because she
refuses to love her father in such a way of getting inheritance where Cordelia wants to love her father
in a genuine way. She represents loyalty and honesty to her father in this part of the play. While
Goneril and Regan represents the lies and foreshadows the sign of betrayal. These two signs are
opposites from one another and it creates a juxtaposition affect. Not only does this part of the play
represent betrayal, loyalty, lies and honesty but it also has a sign of sight. The reason is because

The repressed and non repressed unconscious tends to function side by side. The repressed
unconscious buries traumatic events and the non repressed unconscious receives and deals with the
non traumatic events. According to Freud, Anna transferred her repressed unconscious on to Breuer
while Breuer received transference of the unconscious from Anna and returned them back to her.
(Campbella Pile, 2010). Jung agrees with Freud that personal conscious is a repository of content
previously conscious, even though they may have been forgotten. For example; collective unconscious

Life Of A Slave Girl Literary Analysis
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines trauma as, a disordered psychic or behavioral state resulting
from severe mental or emotional stress or physical injury. Authors such as Harriet Ann Jacobs, Zora
Neale Hurston, and Toni Morrison address the trauma of slavery in their individual works. Each
author demonstrates trauma in a unique way. Harriet Ann Jacobs wrote Life of a Slave Girl as an
autobiography. When the novel was published in 1861, Jacobs did not provide the real names of the
persons involved in her trauma, as she deemed it respectful. Jacobs also uses the pseudonym Linda
Brent for her own protection. Life of a Slave Girl allows readers to connect with Linda personally and
have a better understanding of the pain she went through, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story itself is based around 1861 1895. Similarly, to Hurston s novel, Morrison includes moments
from the past and present. The novel uses more time jumps to explain situations that became relative
to a present day situation. Throughout the novel, the readers understand that Sethe s dead baby is
haunting her home, but the death is never explained until much later. The details of Sethe s attempt to
murder her children is given and then immediately switches to present day when Paul D discovers the
truth by a fellow worker showing him a clipping from the newspaper (Morrison, 182). This creative
writing style helps readers fully understand the depth of the problems at hand. Sethe s decision to
murder her children could not be written simply through dialogue, it needed to be detailed. By writing
this way, readers can grasp the amount of trauma Sethe and her family have dealt with and overcome.
The amount of gruesome detail written into the story is meant to be uncomfortable, because the way
slaves were treated was inhumane. For example, Sethe s scars are described as looking like a
chokecherry tree (Morrison, 93). Sethe received the scars after being whipped back in Sweet Home.
Beloved opens many of the characters traumatic events. In later chapters, Morrison switches from a
third point of view to a first point of view. Beginning in Chapter 20, Morrison writes from Sethe s
point of view discussing Beloved and

Because of the discernable correlation between labor productivity and overall productivity, the
damaging losses were a result of low labor productivity. Ebony Hills Golf Course had increased labor
hours and costs, but revenues had fallen. The strategies recommended focused on cost reduction and
price increases. Reducing staff during non peak seasons and increasing prices were recommendations
that potentially may yield positive profits for Ebony Hills. The SWOT analysis exposed opportunities
to create more revenues during non peak season by establishing cooperative agreements with local
high schools and colleges. The research paper gave a real world example of how to utilize multifactor
productivity measurements to uncover inefficiencies within a firm.
1. What is the purpose of this paper?
The purpose of this paper is to illustrate how the APC model assists in analyzing productivity results
and identifies any operational deficiencies of Ebony Hills Golf Course. The APC model reveals that a
major concern for the municipal enterprise involves labor costs and hours.

Historical Perspective in the Essays of Susan Griffin,...
Historical Perspective in the Essays of Susan Griffin, Richard Rodriguez, and Ralph Ellison (Our
Secret, Extravagance of Laughter, The Achievement of Desire)
Susan Griffin s Our Secret is an essay in which she carefully constructs and describes history,
particularly World War II, through the lives of several different people. Taken from her book A Chorus
of Stones, her concepts may at first be difficult to grasp; however David Bartholomae and Anthony
Petrosky say that, Griffin writes about the past how we can know it, what its relation to the present,
why we should care. In the way she writes, she is also making an argument about how we can know
and understand the past...
Griffin strikes all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In her personal history, she describes her life, and her childhood, which intertwines with her family
history. However, she not only talks about her histories, she talks about the histories of the other
characters in the essay to bring across the larger world history. One of the technique s that Griffin uses
to help the audience understand her concepts, is explaining two other story lines while telling her main
story. The first one is a description of a cell. Throughout the essay, italicized sentences explaining the
intricacies of a cell are placed seemingly randomly between passages. The description begins with a
nucleus, and as the story progresses, so does the nucleus. Griffin tells what happens to the nucleus,
and how the inner workings of the nucleus develops into a cell, which gives rise to many cells, which
will eventually become an embryo. He other story line, also italicized sentences, goes through the
making and beginning of missiles. Later in the essay, Griffin explains how the one missile develops
into a bigger and more effective missile.
These separate story lines are placed within the story to explain that everyone has a background, and a
past. The background and past are factors in developing the present and future; and certain characters
in the story had a tendency to try to forget their past, not realizing that there is no escape from it.
Griffin illustrates this technique most vividly with

Emerging Infectious Diseases Essay
Emerging Infectious Diseases
Emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) are the third leading cause of death in the United States and the
first leading cause of death worldwide (3). Thus, should EID s be considered an oncoming threat to
human existence or is it God s response to our unbiblical stewardship of the Earth or is it nature s
practical solution to overpopulation.
Past EIDs
Since the beginning of time, human existence has been overwhelmed by threatening diseases. To
begin with, leprosy and other highly contagious skin diseases affected humanity as early as in the days
of the Old Testament. Due to its rapidly infectious manner and its degrading and dehumanizing
results, skin diseased victims were often ostracized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1994, Gloucestershire, England was assailed by the infamous and unstoppable flesh eating bacteria
or Necrotizing Fasciitis, which virtually devoured its victims to death (2). In March of 1996, 2.6

the Mad Cow disease. Another term for Mad Cow disease is Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy

via the consumption of infected beef resulting in a fatal human brain disorder known as Creutzfeldt

to Mad Cow disease (10.e). Similarly, 1 million chickens were gassed to death in Hong Kong in 1997

Influenza A epidemic occurred in the United States killing 20 million people in 1918 (10.b). In New

A Controversial Issue Of Pi
A controversial issue for this book would definitely be the religion. Pi s mother and father found it
totally absurd to have more than one religion, and contradicting ones at that. As did the pandit, the
priest, and the imam. In the book, there is a three page long argument between the priest, the imam,
the pandit, and Pi s parents all claiming the other is mistaken and that Pi is a Muslim or a Hindu or a
Christian. Pi blurts out, Bapu Gandhi said, All religions are true. I just want to love God, (Martel 69).
Another controversial issue dealing with Life of Pi that is not necessarily in the book but rather
dealing with people who have read the book. Many people believe the story Pi tells about being at sea
with the animals is truth, while others believe it is with people. There have actually been debates on
whether or not the people version is true. Which, in the book, it says, So tell me, since it makes no
factual difference to you and you can t prove the question either way, which story do you prefer?
Which is the better story, the story with animals or the story without animals? (Martel 317). It does not
actually state which story is the truth, but the reader must make their own inference to piece together
what they think.

descent. In the years of his childhood, Martel lived in many places including Costa Rica, France,

Another bond that may provide satisfaction is that between mother and child. Children provide a
connection and provide an outlet for one s love. This relationship gives the women a sense of security.
The mothers in McMillan s books receivepartial completeness from their relationships with their
children. Bernadine, in Waiting to Exhale, has two children. She gets joy out of motherhood but also
feels the burden of raising them. Bernadine knew that her husband wanted children just out of
obligation to fulfill the American Dream and be more like those in the white community. Her husband
s desires ultimately determined her life:
He wouldn t let you put them in day care, because he thought those places weredangerous.
So you spent your afternoon taking John Junior to piano lessons, karate . . . . He hadyou convinced
you that being a good mother meant staying at home with the children until they were at least school
age. (31)
When he asked for a third child, Bernadine took her needs into consideration and refused. She is proud
of her children, who add value to her life, but their needs also contribute to the obstacles preventing her
from starting her own catering services, and fulfilling one of her own dreams.

Star Patterns
Stars come in a variety of sizes, luminosities, surface temperatures and masses. Through these
different characteristics, it is found that there is a pattern (with some special cases). This pattern was
first recognized by Danish astronomer Ejnar Hertzsprung and American astronomer Henry Norris
Russel during the first decade of the 20th century. They plotted various stars luminosities on one axis
and spectral types on the other. This showed the pattern. These patterns are shown on graphs and are
referred to as Hertzsprung Russel (H R) diagrams. These types of diagrams are used today still as they
are important tools in astronomical research. To plot a star on the H R diagram, all that is needed is the
star s spectral type and its luminosity. On the diagram, the horizontal axis shows the surface
temperature of the star, which directly corresponds with its spectral type. Because Hertzsprung and
Russel based their diagrams on the spectral sequence OABFGKM (color and surface temperature),
temperature decreases from left to right. The vertical axis shows its luminosity, in units of the Sun s
luminosity (Lsun). For example, our Sun, falls right on the point of 1Lsun and G2 because its
luminosity is that of 1 Sun and its spectral type is G2. Typical patterns of the H R diagram show ...

The Mafia And The Mafia
original name in Italy.Mafia originated in Sicily today in Italy and Corsica in France, and refers to the
criminal organization of a local secret association.
Today, these criminal organizations are not only active in Italy. For more than 100 years (mainly in the
early 20th century), they have spread all over the world, especially on the east coast of the United
States, with the migration of Italians. Their forces in the United States rose during the Great
Depression and reached their height by the mid 20th century until a series of FBI investigations broke
down in the 1970s and 1980s. Their actions include assassinations, illegal trade and obstruction of
justice. Although their power is far behind, they still affect the trend culture of the United States.
Many movies, TV shows and even advertisements are related to their image or life.
Today, the term mafia refers not only to these Italian offenders. Affected by the organization, similar
groups of mafias, such as the Russian mafia, have emerged in other parts of the world. Sometimes
referred to as local mafia, these elements are still referred to by the daily mafia, still referring to the
group of Sicilian criminals in the United States. On the other hand, the same is Italian, but the criminal

The limitation of power exists so that exercise of power must conform to notions of respect for
individuals and individual rights. Introducing the rule of law, according to Dicey the rule of law has
three meanings (a) the supremacy of regular law over arbitrary power (b) equality before the law and
(c) no higher law other than the rights of individuals as determined through the courts (Dicey, 1885).
When the government is answerable to the law, the court are empowered to make the authoritative
determination of what the law is. Laws must be clear, for example in the case of the Burmal Oil Co
Ltd v Lord Advocate [1965] the House of Lords upheld the claim for compensation against the crown
in respect of damage done by British forces during wartime. It was seen as incompatible with the rule
of law and caused the War Damage Act 1965. Control over the discretionary power is essential. Since
the British Constitution is un codified and the rights and duties of citizens are not expressly codified in
one central document. The classical British view of rights is that individuals were free to do anything
that was not prohibited, the Human Rights Act fostered a change in the constitutional order, as it
incorporated the European Convention on the Protection of Human Rights 1951 [ECHR] into the
domestic law of the United Kingdom. The separation of powers is a model of government that many

How the Trickle-Down Theory Works in China Essay
How the trickle down theory works in China
The Trickle down theory, a well known theory in fashion industry, has significant meaning in 19th to
20th century Europe. The American economist and sociologist, Veblen, published The theory of the
Leisure Class by 1899, in which he discussed the split between the leisure class and the industrial
class in the US critically. He concluded that leisure class treats dress as a sign of their status and
possessions, furthermore, Dress must not only be conspicuously expensive and inconvenient; it must

However people have little idea about how fashion trends flow in both ancient and contemporary
Chinese society, which is an essential issue no matter when people want to explore Chinese fashion
history, or promote brands and run their business in China in the future. Actually, in the Han dynasty
(206BC 220AD), the trickle down theory worked in the Chinese Royal Palace. At that time, it is said
that all the maid in waitings in imperial palaces stimulated the Empress Xiaocheng, Feiyan Zhao
(32BC 1BC), wearing fairy retaining skirts (Barbara 2000). And according to Lang huan ji which was
a classic novel written by Shizhen Yi, a scholar in the Yuan dynasty (1206 1368), in the Tang dynasty
(618AD 907AD), young girls loved to manipulate imperial Concubine s and Princess s makeup and

people. But inevitably, the study had its own limitation, sometimes, things in China influenced by

The Effects Of Social Media On The Development Of Mobile...
Social Media Media Broadcast Marketing The increase of social media and the development of mobile
technology in the last decade has been significant, which has transformed the communication
strategies and especially with sharing the experiences and how information should be marketed to the
target audience. According to Hollensen (2014), the selection of newspapers, web sites, and TV to be
used for advertising (series of actions to reach goals) needs to be done (at the same time) with the
development of the message theme. The vital question in media selection is whether to use a target or
mass approach. When a large percentage of the general public is a potential customer the mass media
approach will be most effective. The media approach should be the outcome of a careful fit of local
advertising goals, the characteristics of the target market and media attributes. Moreover, media
variety can be based on the following criteria: Reach the total number of potential customers in a
target market exposed to at least one advertisement in a specific time period. Frequency is the average
total of times within a given period, a target market audience is exposed to the same promotion.
Impact dependant on compatibility between the message from the media approach and the medium
used. When an organisation introduces a new product or enters a new market high reach is essential, in
order for the new product or service to reach the widest possible audience the reach is

He states in the song that he felt as if he were an alien among the people of Dubai. This is an example of a captivity narrative. Captivity narratives are usually stories of people captured by enemies whom they consider uncivilized, or whose beliefs and customs they oppose. While they were never severely injured, the hostages endured awful treatment by their captors; they were displayed in front of cameras blindfolded, they could not talk, read, or change clothes. (Iran Hostage Crisis) There are a number of ways one can escape captivity, according to these narratives. In Equiano s narrative, he achieves freedom by purchasing it from his owner, Robert King, for 40 pounds. What! said he, give you your freedom? Why, where did you get the money; have you got forty pounds sterling? Yes sir, I answered. How did you get it ; replied he; I told him, Very honestly. The captain then said he knew I got the money very honestly, and with much industry, and that I was particularly careful. • 6. Walt Whitman s The Things They Carried Mankind has always been fascinated with literature throughout history, writing stories of history and of fantasy. Authors don t start out famous and are sometimes forced to witness mankind s most abhorred creation, war. Some authors are just journalists who are sent to cover the carnage and some are not yet authors, but will become authors later in history. It is well known many people change after witnessing or experiencing war, but if could this influence or change their writing style? Walt Whitman started journalism in 1841. He founded a weekly newspaper called the Long Islander. In 1865, Whitman published his second edition of Leaves of Grass (poets.org). After the start of the Civil War had started, Whitman went to Washington because he read his brother s name (George Whitman) on a casualty list from the battle of Fredericksburg. He arrived in time to find his brother with a small cut on his face and while there he noticed how terrible the sick and wounded were being treated. • 8. Pavlov s Classical Conditioning And Skinner s Operant... TaSheena Moore 2/4/2016 PSY 110 Pavlov s Classical Conditioning and Skinner s Operant Conditioning Learning is a relatively permanent change in behavior due to experience. There are two types of learning, associative learning and cognitive learning. Associative learning occurs when a person or an animal forms a simple association among various stimuli, behaviors, or both. It requires little to no awareness or thought. Cognitive learning refers to understanding, knowing, and anticipating. Our subject today comes from associative learning. There are two types of associative learning. Ivan Pavlov of Russia, discovered classical conditioning, and Edward Thorndike discovered operant conditioning. Classical conditioning is the type of associative learning based on what happens before we respond. It begins with a stimulus that reliably triggers a behavior as a response. Classical conditioning occurs when you learn to associate two different stimuli. There is no behavior involved. The first stimulus that you will encounter is the unconditioned stimulus. Unconditioned stimulus is a stimulus essentially capable of producing a response without any previous learning. That learning is called an unconditioned response. Pavlov conducted a study using dogs. He placed the dogs in a harness and placed a piece of food on their tongue. A tube was placed to carry saliva from the dogs mouth to a lever measuring the saliva. Pavlov believed that salivation was an automatic, inherited reflex. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A perfect example to show us the different ways we inherit traits is fruit flies. Fruit flies are commonly used by scientists to conduct genetic experiments due to their reaction to the experiment being very quick. Scientists mainly look at how the flies inherit basic traits such as brown body color, or red eyes(basic trait flies are known as wild type flies) from their parents, but sometimes they can come across some abnormal traits. Bull Trout Research Paper Introduction: The Bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus) in the family Salmonidae and are a char native to Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Montana and western Canada. Compared to other salmonids, bull trout have more specific habitat requirements that appear to influence their distribution and abundance (USFWS, 2015). Bull trout were historically regarded as pests due to their voracious predatory behavior. It was thought that bull trout depleted populations of more desirable game fish by feeding on them when they were very small thus supposedly depleting the numbers. In fact at one point there was a bounty placed on bull trout tails in Canada to encourage fisherman to rid the waters of this Bully, which effectively eliminated them from certain watersheds (Donald, D. B., and D. J. Alger. 1993). At one time in the early 1900 s the Bull Trout thrived in the waterways of the Northwest. Inquiry is the base of society, all answers come from questions that were once asked. Questioning can influence people s decisions to act in certain ways and determine how they live, and people s lives change the world. The Man in the High Castle, written by Philip K Dick, follows a full cast of characters from an endangered Jewish man named Frank Frink to a high up Japanese man named Mr. Tagomi. The book takes place in a world after World War Two, but one very different from present time, a world where Germany and Japan, along with the other Axis powers, won the war. The planet is overcome with racism and distrust. Jewish people are killed every day and the ones still alive are forced into hiding and change their names. Both men live very different lives, Frink is in hiding as a Jew while Tagomi is a wealthy antique seller. The one thing they have in common is the I Ching, a highly regarded oracle of sorts. It predicts the future and provides advice along with it; and everyone follows that advice no matter what they are told. They do this partially because after the Axis powers won the war, every person was required to have an I Ching in their home. This caused the residents to become reliant on the oracle for their every need. The I Ching provides advice in the form of special hexagrams which have a corresponding prophecy of sorts. • 19. Juxtaposition King Lear Essay Question: Alexander Pope has said that King Lear is a play that centre around opposition and juxtaposition. Discuss with reference to symbolism, metaphor, motif, plot or character whether you believe the statement is accurate. King Lear is about the tragic events and the conflicts between fathers and their children. In the play King Lear written by William Shakespeare has many motifs and symbolism throughout the play. Alexander Pope was an English poet who had said King Lear is a play centered around opposition and juxtaposition. Although there is a parallel story between King Lear and Gloucester, the motifs and symbolism in this play contrasts from one another in different ways. I believe what Alexander Pope has said was quite accurate because of the motifs and symbolism that affects one another with a juxtaposition affect. Many of the motifs and symbolism in the play are opposites from one another. One of the motifs that happens frequently throughout the play was loyalty and betrayal. In the play Lear has three daughters named Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia. This happened in the beginning of the play where King Lear wanted to retire and give bigger portions of his land based on the daughter who loved him most. Goneril and Regan praised their love for Lear but Cordelia refused to do so. In Act 1 Scene 1 (Li 101 102), Cordelia says ...I love your Majesty, according to my bond no more no less. This indicates that although Cordelia loves Lear very dearly she refused to lie to get land from her father. Unlike her sisters who have boasted about their love for Lear who they don t love him to that extent and lies. It seems as if Cordelia is the sign of betrayal but Cordelia is actually a sign of loyalty because she refuses to love her father in such a way of getting inheritance where Cordelia wants to love her father in a genuine way. She represents loyalty and honesty to her father in this part of the play. While Goneril and Regan represents the lies and foreshadows the sign of betrayal. These two signs are opposites from one another and it creates a juxtaposition affect. Not only does this part of the play represent betrayal, loyalty, lies and honesty but it also has a sign of sight. The reason is because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result of this British beef scare 32 people died of CJD, of whose deaths were linked to Mad Cow disease (10.e). Similarly, 1 million chickens were gassed to death in Hong Kong in 1997 in order to prevent the already undertaking spread of Influenza A (H5N1) or Bird Flu . The worst Influenza A epidemic occurred in the United States killing 20 million people in 1918 (10.b). In New York last month, five people died of a rare encephalitis disease caused by a West Nile like virus, which is believed to have been transmitted from birds, who researchers found to have died from the West Nile virus (8). • 26. A Controversial Issue Of Pi A controversial issue for this book would definitely be the religion. Pi s mother and father found it totally absurd to have more than one religion, and contradicting ones at that. As did the pandit, the priest, and the imam. In the book, there is a three page long argument between the priest, the imam, the pandit, and Pi s parents all claiming the other is mistaken and that Pi is a Muslim or a Hindu or a Christian. Pi blurts out, Bapu Gandhi said, All religions are true. I just want to love God, (Martel 69). Another controversial issue dealing with Life of Pi that is not necessarily in the book but rather dealing with people who have read the book. Many people believe the story Pi tells about being at sea with the animals is truth, while others believe it is with people. There have actually been debates on whether or not the people version is true. Which, in the book, it says, So tell me, since it makes no factual difference to you and you can t prove the question either way, which story do you prefer? Which is the better story, the story with animals or the story without animals? (Martel 317). It does not actually state which story is the truth, but the reader must make their own inference to piece together what they think. Yann Martel was born June 25, 1963. Essay on Terry McMillan s Women Terry McMillan s Women Terry McMillan grabs her audience s attention by filling her books with romance, tension, and sex: ...it s the roiling currents among family, friends and lovers that McMillan is most comfortable writing about (Skow 77). Her customary characters are strong African American women who are well off; many have jobs, families, and security. Although these women seemingly have all these necessities, they long for more. As they experience life, they embark on an eternal search for connection (Donahue n. pag.). Children provide a connection and provide an outlet for one s love. This relationship gives the women a sense of security. The mothers in McMillan s books receivepartial completeness from their relationships with their children. Bernadine, in Waiting to Exhale, has two children. She gets joy out of motherhood but also feels the burden of raising them. Bernadine knew that her husband wanted children just out of obligation to fulfill the American Dream and be more like those in the white community. Her husband s desires ultimately determined her life: He wouldn t let you put them in day care, because he thought those places weredangerous. • 29. Star Patterns Stars come in a variety of sizes, luminosities, surface temperatures and masses. Through these different characteristics, it is found that there is a pattern (with some special cases). This pattern was first recognized by Danish astronomer Ejnar Hertzsprung and American astronomer Henry Norris Russel during the first decade of the 20th century. They plotted various stars luminosities on one axis and spectral types on the other. This showed the pattern. These patterns are shown on graphs and are referred to as Hertzsprung Russel (H R) diagrams. These types of diagrams are used today still as they are important tools in astronomical research. To plot a star on the H R diagram, all that is needed is the star s spectral type and its luminosity. On the diagram, the horizontal axis shows the surface temperature of the star, which directly corresponds with its spectral type. Because Hertzsprung and Russel based their diagrams on the spectral sequence OABFGKM (color and surface temperature), temperature decreases from left to right. The vertical axis shows its luminosity, in units of the Sun s luminosity (Lsun). For example, our Sun, falls right on the point of 1Lsun and G2 because its luminosity is that of 1 Sun and its spectral type is G2. Typical patterns of the H R diagram show ... Today, these criminal organizations are not only active in Italy. For more than 100 years (mainly in the early 20th century), they have spread all over the world, especially on the east coast of the United States, with the migration of Italians. Their forces in the United States rose during the Great Depression and reached their height by the mid 20th century until a series of FBI investigations broke down in the 1970s and 1980s. Their actions include assassinations, illegal trade and obstruction of justice. Although their power is far behind, they still affect the trend culture of the United States. Social Media Media Broadcast Marketing The increase of social media and the development of mobile technology in the last decade has been significant, which has transformed the communication strategies and especially with sharing the experiences and how information should be marketed to the target audience. According to Hollensen (2014), the selection of newspapers, web sites, and TV to be used for advertising (series of actions to reach goals) needs to be done (at the same time) with the development of the message theme. The vital question in media selection is whether to use a target or mass approach. When a large percentage of the general public is a potential customer the mass media approach will be most effective. The media approach should be the outcome of a careful fit of local advertising goals, the characteristics of the target market and media attributes. Moreover, media variety can be based on the following criteria: Reach the total number of potential customers in a target market exposed to at least one advertisement in a specific time period. Frequency is the average total of times within a given period, a target market audience is exposed to the same promotion. Impact dependant on compatibility between the message from the media approach and the medium used. Jesus Cleanses a Leper (Matthew 8: v. 1 5): When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed Him. And behold, a Leper came to Him and knelt before Him, saying Lord, if you will, you can make me clean. And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him saying, I will, be clean. It was a representative figure of the spiritual disease called profanation of good and of truth which prevailed in the Jewish church at that time.
