Nazi Germany And Its Detrimental Effects On The Social...
When looking into the history of Germany and determining what led to the startling rise in Nazism in
Germany and its detrimental effects on the social outcasts in Europe, it can be easy to deduce that the
Nazi regime was one where Hitler walked in with his officials and took office by force. The truth is
that, while the Nazi party is responsible for the atrocities that occurred before and during WWII, they
would have not gotten far if it hadn t been for the cooperation of the German people themselves. Life
in the Third Reich provides proof through voting, youth programs and village life that the Nazi party
rose into power with German support. In Village Life in Nazi Germany, essayist Gerhard Wilke
discusses the rise of Nazism in the small village of Korle, discussing how with the rapid political
changes in Germany from an empire to a democratic nation also affected the power balances of small
villages. Despite the efforts of the older generations to keep some sort of semblance of the old
traditions, it was their children who wanted change and found themselves attracted to Nazism and
formed the first local branch of the party in 1928. The reason for this, Wilke says is that they wanted
radical solutions to three existential and ideological problems: the survival of their generation as
independent farmer, the preservation of their political dominance, and the suppression of their enemies
(The Jews and the working class). And the youth of villages came together in

Chemical Equilibrium Lab
Abstract:
For this experiment we are looking to determine the equilibrium constant KC for this reaction, KC =
[FeSCN2+]/([Fe3+][SCN ]. Using a spectrophotometer, we are going to determine the absorbance of
FeSCN2+ with different concentration measurements.
Introduction:
Chemical equilibrium can be determined using different methods. Chemical equilibrium exists when
the rate of both sides are equal. Once equilibrium has been reached, the amounts of products and
reactants are constant, but if one of the products or reactant concentration can be measured, it can then
be used to determine the remaining concentrations and find the equilibrium constant. One way of
finding the equilibrium concentration is knowing the equilibrium concentration of the product
FeSCN2+,which can make it possible to determine the equilibrium concentrations of reactants. First
we would calculate the concentration of each original reactant before equilibrium was achieved using
the initial volume and concentration information. Then calculate the concentration of FeSCN2+
formed. Since products and reactants are in a 1:1 mole ratio and any product formed reduces the
amount of reactant remaining, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then Use these concentrations to calculate the equilibrium constant for each of the mixtures.
In this experiment, we will be combining aqueous solutions of iron(III) ion (Fe3+) and thiocyanate ion
(SCN ). The reaction that occurs produces the thiocyanoiron(III) complex ion which creates the
equilibrium mixture s red color. The final concentrations of products and reactants will depend on the
amounts of reactants before the reaction occurs. The equilibrium concentrations must satisfy the
following equation: (the bracketed terms are molar equilibrium concentrations of the different species,

The Work Of Marina Abramovic
In this essay I will be looking into the work of Marina Abramovic in relation to the Feminist
movement. By looking at her work, I aim to emphasise her influence on this movement. In this essay,
I shall also briefly examine the works of Abramovic, particularly Art is Beautiful, Artist must be
Beautiful (1975) and four of her performances from her Rhythm series (10 (1973), 0 (1974), 2 (1974),
and 5 (1974)). I shall describe the history of the Feminist movement and its influence in order to
develop an understanding of Abramovic s influence.
Marina Abramovic, was born on 30th November 1946 in Belgrade, Serbia (former Yugoslavia), from
an early age she was interested in art and as a teenager she felt the need to define herself and her own

Abramovic s performances can be read as feminist works, even though she has expressed that she was
not particularly concerning herself with womens issues (Richards, 2010:19). This could be due to her
upbringing in Yugoslavia, where as a Communist country, there is less gender inequality than that
which is experienced by many women in the Western world (Richards, 2010:19). Also, as a woman,
Abramovic was given the freedom to perform pieces such as her Rhythm series, as she was seen as
less of a threat than other artists in the 1970 s (Richards, 2010:2). This is problematic in itself, as it
shows that as a female artist, Abramovic was not expected to create much of an impact on the political
world, perhaps suggesting that even in a country where women have more gender equality with men,
they are still subjected to the ideologies that women belong in the private sphere, whereas men are
thought to belong in the public sphere, meaning that they are taken more seriously in political issues
and are thought to have more influence in these.
Abramovic s performances can be contextually analysed in terms of Ecriture Feminine, The Abject
Body and Feminism. Bell Hooks defines feminism as a movement to end sexism and sexist
domination and oppression, a struggle that includes efforts to end gender discrimination and create
equality (Hooks, 2000: 113). Feminism is also a political position (Barry, 2002:22). The term Ecriture
Feminine was coined by

Truman Capote and Postmodernism
Truman Capote, as obsessed with fame and fortune as with penning great words, was a writer who
became as well known for his late night talk show appearances as for his prose (Patterson 1). Capote
was a literary pop star at the height of his fame in 1966, after he had written such classic books as,
Other Rooms, Other Voices, Breakfast at Tiffany s, and In Cold Blood. Postmodernism was a literary
period that began after the Second World War and was a rejection of traditional writing techniques. It
used fragmented sentences and questionable narrators, as well as many other unconventional
techniques, to break the previous barriers of literature. Truman Capote was a major player in the
postmodern game, using his own broken childhood to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Capote validates Smith for trying to break out of the social mold of the problem child . Capote is also
indifferent towards the lives of the Clutters. Mr. Clutter couldn t escape Perry Smith s stereotype of
him as the self righteous tormentor and therefore could not escape Smith s revenge on the society that
shunned him. The motifs that capote uses in this novel were the animals that he featured in it. The
animals that Capote mentions in this book are weak and defenseless, and they symbolize the
defenselessness of Smith and even of Capote. Capote was frustrated with societies condemnation of
people outside the social norms, and it show in this book through his pessimistic point of view. He
feels contempt for the pious Clutter family because they represented the type of people that abandoned
him as a child. If Capote s mission for In Cold Blood was to create an unbiased account of what took
place during the murder of the Clutter family and other facts the surround the event, then he failed
because his opinion is quite clear throughout the entire book (Kim np). I Agree with Lydia Kim s
opinion of how Capote s so called non fiction novel was laced with his opinions and strong emotional
connection with Perry Smith. After reading several biographical essays on Truman Capote, and
reading an excerpt of In Cold Blood, it became clear that Capote was a very opinionated character
who would often say what was on his mind, whether it was an

The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Autism
Individuals with autism are often described in terms of the impairments, challenges and difficulties
that affect them. When people hear the word autism , most of them automatically think of impaired
communication and social interaction, of repetitive and often challenging behaviour. Others might
think of sensory issues, echolalia, narrow range of interests and the lack of empathy, as well as weak
central coherence and impairment of the theory of mind. The list can go on. The fact is, that one will
almost certainly think of challenges and deficits rather than strengths when the word autism is
mentioned. The purpose of this essay is not to try and prove that the strengths of autism outweigh the
challenges that would simply be untrue. The purpose of this essay is to focus on the strengths, rather
than the weaknesses of people with autism because identifying and promoting them can be beneficial
for autistic individual s development.

that, in a way, autistic individuals become experts when it comes to distinguishing and recognising
repetitive patterns in various stimuli. They feel the need to analyse or construct systems which can
only be achieved by systemising, as it helps to explain how a certain system works. There are many

Values and Standards in Kushner s Angels in America Essays
What does Kushner propose about religious/personal standards, and are those standards valuable or do
they cause difficulties? Many people today have a set of religious or personal standards that has aided
them in obtaining their goals. However, there are many others who do their best to live up to those
standards of perfection but end up living miserable lives. This essay will discuss the possible
standards of Joe and Roy implied in the play, Angels in America by Tony Kushner, while discussing
how they can be both valuable and questionable. Kushner implies that religious ideals act as
guidelines for those who follow them. He brings this point across with the character called Joe. A
Mormon who has used those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joe has work hard and done everything right to get to where he is now but isn t happy because he feels
like he is missing something. Joe has a battle with himself over the wrong that s inside; no matter how
wrong or ugly that thing is, so long as I fought, with everything I have to kill it... As long as my
behavior is what I know it has to be (Angels in America pg. 40). Kushner s choice of words for Joe
seem to suggest that he is fighting the wrong inside him but only because thats what these religious
ideals dictate he should do. Joe seems to be hiding the fact that he is a homosexual, we see this when
his wife Harper asks him and he responds; What if I... No. I m not. I don t see what difference it
makes (Angels in America pg. 38). This is an example of how religious ideals bring difficulties not
only in how a person lives but also their sexuality.
Kushner also prompts the consideration of having personal highly desirable goals. He introduces such
standards with another character called Roy Cohn who has achieved a great deal of power by focusing
on himself alone; don t be afraid to live in the raw wind, naked, alone... Learn at least this: What you
are capable of. Let nothing stand in your way (Angels in America pg. 58). Roy is talking to Joe and

Carter Style Essay
The writings of Angela Carter are those like none other, in the way of style, themes, symbols and
motifs. The stories written by Carter are not those of cheerfulness and happy endings, they are
different in a most spectacular way. Carter s fairy tales are a frightening look at the true reality or what
fairy tales really are. Angela Carter has written many of these tales in a much more deep and complex
manner. Each tale of hers has its own style, themes symbols and motifs yet she does show some
similarities in each of her works.
From Angela Carter, The Tiger s Bride, in The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories (New York:
Penguin, 1993) came a tale like no other. The Tiger s Bride was a version of Beauty and ... Show more

Belle is offered the choice to either to strip of her clothing for the beast to do what he pleases with her
and be set free afterward, or not to and stay there in his broken down castle until the end of her days.
This is a very difficult choice for Belle for she is the purest of women, and has much difficulty in
doing this. She is also afraid for her life, believing the beast will eat her if she does decide to show
herself to him. If she should decide not to reveal herself, the beast would then reveal himself to her, in
which she was also terrified of what she might see. After she tries to put herself through the
unthinkable and failing, the beast and his valet take belle on a ride through the forest where they stop
and talk a while. In this setting of the story, the beast reveals himself to Belle and shows his real self
and earns the respect of Belle. After she realized the courage and trust the beast had shown to her, she
decides that it is only right to do the same for him. When she appears in front of the beast unclothed,
the Tiger crept up and licked the skin off of the young girl and revealed her long fur, as she also was a
beast.
Angela Carter has many ways in which she captures her own style and creativity in her works. As in
The Tigers Bride, The Company of Wolves also has many of the same symbols, motifs, themes and

Simon Lord Of The Flies Analysis
A Failed Social Experiment on Coral Island
If a group of British school boys find themselves marooned on a tropical island, do they establish a
peaceful society and adventure or do they revert to man s violent and evil nature? The Coral Island by
R. M. Ballantyne suggests the former; young English boys, upon landing on an Eden esque island
would develop a civilization, spread Christianity, and explore. William Golding, a writer and officer of
the British Royal Navy in World War II, however, has a different perspective on this theoretical
scenario and wrote Lord of the Flies to demonstrate this social experiment on humanity when left to
its own devices. Golding s characters in Lord of the Flies are allegories for humanity and civilization.

Simon frequently goes to his own sanctuary in the jungle for an introspective time, which resembles
Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemene, especially as both the Lord of the Flies and Satan visit Simon and
Jesus (respectively) soon before their untimely deaths. Simon s refuge in the jungle is a little cabin
screened off from the open space by a few leaves and from it he is able to observe the nature and the
environment surrounding him (57). The other boys characterize him as funny as his maturity and
benevolence set him apart (55). When the littluns begin having nightmares and terrors of the beast,
Ralph calls an assembly and most of the boys attempt to put down these fears. When prompted, Simon
says Maybe...maybe there is a beast, and clarified, What I mean is...maybe it s only us (89). Upon
discovering that the beast on the mountain was actually a parachutist who had fallen and gotten stuck
on the rocks, Simon ran down to Jack s feast to bring awareness about the reality of the beast to the
others. Due to his startling appearance and the chaos of the boys dance, Simon is mistaken for the
beast and killed; this is reminiscent of Jesus s murder when trying to spread God s

Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the Sun that is harnessed using a range of ever evolving
technologies such as solar heating, photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar architecture and artificial

and by continuous study because it has many advantages. First of all, it is inexhaustible renewable
energy. The energy from the sun radiation is about 1.6x1023kw per second. The energy that reaches

Essay on Edna’s Suicide in The Awakening
The Awakening by Kate Chopin ends with the death of the main character, Edna Pontellier. Stripping
off her clothes, she swims out to sea until her arms can no longer support her, and she drowns. It was
not necessarily a suicide, neither was it necessarily the best option for escaping her problems. We are
told that she walks down to the beach rather mechanically, (Chopin 108) and that she doesn t think
about much, other than the heat of the sun. This doesn t seem terribly interesting until we read that the
reason she isn t thinking is because she had, done all the thinking which was necessary after Robert
went away, when she lay awake upon the sofa till morning. (Chopin 108) This means that she has
already planned exactly what she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clearly, she feels that drowning herself in the sea is the best way that she can elude her children. After
walking into the sea, she begins to swim. There are several instances where we are told that she grows
progressively more tired. Since she has thought so much about this swim, she should have known to
turn back at the first sign of exhaustion. But she doesn t. She continues on to her ultimate death,
apparently understanding and willing. Comparatively, there seems very little evidence to say that it
was not suicide. A large part of any argument for just death stems from her impulsiveness, and that she
could ve been struck with the urge to swim very far out without thinking of the consequences. This
argument is not terribly valid since we are told that she has, in fact, thought about her trip to the beach
quite a lot. She also goes on and on...thinking it [the sea] had no beginning and no end, (Chopin 109)
and yet still decides to continue swimming. Her thoughts right before her death offer a plausible, non
suicidal ending. She seems to understand that her life didn t have to end now, that perhaps Dr.
Mandelet would have understood (Chopin 109) if only she had the strength to swim back. But she
didn t have the strength, so she died. Even though she

Suffering In Dante s Inferno
Throughout the fast paced lives of people, they are constantly making choices that shape who they are,
as well as the world around them; however, they do not often think about the consequences of the little
decisions they make every day, such as the result of eternal suffering. From those who were neither
good nor bad all the way to Satan himself, Dante takes the reader on his calculated and detailed
journey through hell in his attempt to reach salvation in Inferno, the beginning of the Divine Comedy:
a trilogy of poetry by Dante Alighieri.
The tale begins where Dante finds himself alone in the Dark Wood of Error, or Limbo, having strayed

Fossils Lab
Title: Lab 3: Microfossils Lab and Field Trip to North Manzanilla beach

period which has been preserved. Examples of fossils include burrows, indentations or bite marks,
footprints or other impressions, coprolites, hard animal body parts such as bone, shells or horns or
mineralized plant remains embedded in stratified rock.
Examination of the fossils and the strata in which they were found and compilation of this data into

In general a higher proportion of the species were bivalves. The larger fossils with sturdier shells were
found in the sand like strata where the sediment was not as compact and the pressure from higher
layers was less.
The most likely environment in which these organisms lived would not be terrestrial or freshwater but
a coastal marine environment with varying levels of salinity since the sea water would advance and
retreat with the tides. The gastropods would require moisture from the ocean to prevent desiccation
while the bivalves would be able to survive longer periods exposed since the shell could be closed
temporarily until conditions were favourable.
The fossils in the lower silty layers were most likely formed below water by normal geological
processes. The sea level rose covering the organisms and the layers of silt settled above them. In the
upper sandy layers the fossils could have been formed above water by a sudden catastrophic event as a
result of ongoing erosive processes. The conditions in which the fossils formed were likely a result of
wave action which eroded the coast line until it was unstable. When the sea level receded there was a
landslide covering the

Sentencing Disparities And Race On Criminal Sentencing
Introduction Sentencing disparities as a result of an individual s race or ethnic background, has been
one of the most frequently investigated topics in criminological research. (Mitchell, Mackenzie 2004).
Several studies have attempted to understand the impact of the offenders race on criminal sentencing
but there has been variation in the results some of studies concluded race does effect sentencing
regardless of the legal variables; some studies revealed it does not; while other studies concluded that
race does impact sentencing when coupled with other factors. (Pratt 1998).
Research has revealed that sentencing disparities by race are a result of the type of criminal offense as
the variable to the impact on sentencing decisions. The implications of sentencing disparities by race
suggests that minority individuals are targeted more frequently in the criminal justice system.
Accordingly, there is a clear need to explore all possible variables that may create sentencing
disparities for minorities. The current study will fill some of the void of former research by exploring
sentencing disparities among a large sample of gang members and non gang members who were
sentenced to prison for serious crimes in the state of California. Specifically, the study is interested in
examining whether gang members become targeted by law enforcement personnel because of their
gang related activities, or because of their race. The focus of this study is necessary because consist

Excerpt from The Sneetches and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss
Now, the Star Belly Sneetches
Had bellies with stars.
The Plain Belly Sneetches
Had none upon thars.
Those stars weren t so big. They were really so small
You might think such a thing wouldn t matter at all.
But, because they had stars, all the Star Belly Sneetches
Would brag, We re the best kind of Sneetch on the Beaches.
With their snoots in the air, they would sniff and they d snort
We ll have nothing to do with the Plain Belly sort!
Essay
Earlier in the semester, the class was introduced to topics such as politics within Children s Literature
and learning how to be cultural critics. Both topics generated discussion that was centered around the
contributions that were made within Children s Literature and how they could deepen young reader s
understanding of the content presented to them in children books. I believe the book The Sneetches
and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss would ve been a great addition to the class reading list. In this book,
Dr. Seuss discussed topics such as discrimination, prejudice, acceptance, and tolerance which are all
topics people wouldn t think are suitable for a children s book. The themes were used as underlying
messages throughout the story and the illustration presented a visual to readers, so that they could
have a clear understanding of what Dr. Seuss was writing. The importance of the message was to bring
awareness to the issues that are present within society. Other stories include The Zax , Too Many
Daves , and What Was I Scared Of? . These stories all contribute to reaching out to help young readers
analyze and further understand others who may not always be the same as them. In Dr. Suess s The
Zax , one Zax was going North and one South but because of pride neither one moved to
accommodate the other out of respect. Too Many Daves highlights the lack of originality. It teaches
children to stand out, make a difference. What Was

Isolation And Cognition, By Octavia Butler And Philip Jose...
Literature is not as one dimensional as many people think. It is not a frivolous study for those who are
poor at math and science. No, literature is a conduit that connects an individual to the vast, ever
expanding pool of human knowledge. In addition to connecting us to the past and improving our
writing skills, literature widens our perspectives allowing us to explore the strengths as well as the
faults of human individuals and societies. Some genres of literature are better than others when
exploring human nature, and science fiction is one of the best. Darko Suvin, author of an analysis on
science fiction titled Estrangement and Cognition, assets that all science fiction introduces a new idea,
called a novum, that effectively challenges a reader s worldview. It can educate us about other cultures
and increase sympathies for those who we see as different from us simply by giving us exposure to
what is foreign. Authors Octavia Butler and Philip José Farmer both use cognitive estrangement in this
way to suggest and reinforce the idea that humans are too resistant to change, and are inherently
xenophobic.
It is important to understand how science fiction is used to convey an author s ideas. In a nutshell,
Darko Suvin delineates science fiction as a literary genre that utilizes cognitive estrangement in order
to build an imaginary, yet believable, world centered around a novum (Suvin 7 8). He further defines
estrangement as the creative and fantastic side of the genre. The

Early Childhood Development Is A Beneficial Tool, It...
Babies are fascinating. According to the Center for Disease Control, 3,932,181 of them were born in
the United States in 2013, of which 40.6% were born to unmarried women. It is true that most parents
want what is best for their children; however, the methodology and resources for childrearing vary
from home to home. Today s society is built on self discipline, self reliance, and skill; therefore, the
development of little ones must take center stage. However, this development is unique just as the
children and the parents who are responsible for their upbringing are unique. While preschool
programs can be a beneficial tool, it should not be mandatory because there is no significant evidence
of success for federally funded programs; early childhood development occurs diversley among
children; and parents alone are best qualified and responsible to nurture their preschoolers as they see
fit.
Some believe that the best way to tackle the challenge of a high functioning society is to mandate a
well defined preschool program. In 1965, Head Start became a federally funded organization designed
to foster early development for families who could not access it otherwise. (Clemmitt, 2014). These
families were classified as low income and benefitted from additional health services, social and
emotional skills development, academic skills, as well as education on parenting. So much emphasis
has been placed on the development of preschool age children that in 2014, Congress not

Two Churches, Different Times, Same message
Religion is a system of symbols that establishes powerful motivation in people by creating
conceptions of something real. Art and religion have gone hand in hand for years. Almost every
religion has representations of their God and symbols through works of art. Architecture is a form of
art, and it requires creativity and imagination to build something related to religion. Two churches
from different periods, built with different techniques, can have the same purpose. The design of the
St. Louis Chapel Abbey, created by Gyo Obata with the purpose of serving God, is absolutely
incredible. Similarly, the Borgund Stave Church in Norway, made from wood a long time ago, is also
beautiful though the architect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Louis abbey chapel is circular, and this decision was made because the monks wanted to keep the
congregation as close to the altar as possible, as actual participants of the Catholic ritual instead of just
spectators. The design consists in parabolic arches made of thin shell concrete, trying to create the
landscape of Missouri. On the exterior of the church there are twenty parabolic arch sections in the
first tiers of the circular chapel. In the second there are twenty smaller arches and on the top tier there
are ten even smaller arches, which cover the bell tower. On the top, in the middle there is a big cross, a
symbol of Christ. In the distance it seems lifting off from its green ridge and soaring upwards. On the
inside, each arch of the first tier encloses an intimate space with a small altar. The parabolic shaped
windows, just like the Gateway Arch, suggest a gothic cathedral windows. The windows are faced
with dark insulated polyester, which limits the entrance of sunlight. The polyester seems to be black
from the outside but it actually admits daylight into the inside creating a peaceful atmosphere. Inside
the church, there is a sculpture of the Madonna and Christ child and other works from modern art by
artists from France, Spain, Great Britain and the US. Also, the life sized sculptures of Saint Benedict

Similarities Between Jazz And Hip-Hop Music
This paper will highlight the similarities between jazz and hip hop music. African American cultural
forms and developments are as vast as they are diverse. However, because of white America s
consistently racist and oppressive treatment of people of color in this country there are certain
commonalities between African American cultures as a result of this continuous subordination. I am
going to display some of these existing similarities within hip hop and jazz cultures. Albeit they are
both musically and culturally different, each emerging out of a specific historical moment with its own
distinct musical and cultural practices, there exists enough similarities between that two that it seems a
comparison is indeed beneficial in understanding and examining American society in general. The
similarities between the two African American cultures is also quite great. I will ask and answer
questions such as: what were the effects the urban ghettos from which both of these cultures arose out
of had upon their initial development, and what are some ways in which the music of both of these
cultures is a form of alternative and self empowering language?
Throughout the history of this country, the music of Afro Americans has remained a strong influence
upon our society and culture. Beginning with the music carried over from Africa with the slaves, up
until now, with the new styles created by urban youth today, African Americans have retained certain
elements within their music which

The American Of Revolt Against Great Britain
There were many reasons that the American colonies decided to revolt against Great Britain, but some
of the more major causes of the American revolution were the banning of arms , the very unpopular
Stamp Act, the Declaratory Act, and the Boston Tea Port Acts. Another unpopular Act enforced on the
colonies, by His Majesty of Great Britain, was the now famous Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was a set of
laws created by the King and parliament, saying that the American colonists had to pay more taxes
than the people in Great Britain were paying, as a way to pay off the cost of the Seven Years War. This
Act was upsetting to the colonists because they didn t get the chance to have a say in wether or not
they were okay with/wanted such large taxes being imposed upon them. This can be seen in Document
A, when the colonists wrote in a letter to the king that it is inseparably essential to the freedom of a
people, and the undoubted right of Englishmen, that no taxes be imposed on them, but with their own
consent, given personally, or by their representatives. This quote shows that the colonists did not agree
with the taxation, or at least not without them being represented in Great Britain. The King placing all
of these taxes on the American colonies made them feel as if they were not being treated as actual
Englishmen, but rather as the outcasts and criminals that no one else wanted. This is evident in the
letter written to the King, when the colonies say that His Majesty s

Cases of Multiple Providers of Agricultural Extension...
1.2 Agricultural Extension System: the Bangladesh case In Bangladesh a multitude of agencies from
private and public origin offer extension support to the farmers (ASIRP, 2006). Although recent years
witness a noticeable change in agricultural extension service providers, the public institutions still
remain the dominant. The new entrants to the field include non governmental organizations (NGOs),
the private sector agribusiness enterprises and grass root institutions eg. Self Help and micro credit
Groups involving farming communities (WB, 2005).
DAE is the key department under the Ministry of Agriculture which provides extension support to
crop sector farmers. This organization has country wide coverage and operational staff. Other public
organizations involved in providing extension service in crop sectors are Agricultural Information
Service (AIS), Department of Agriculture Marketing (DAM), Bangladesh Agriculture Development
Corporation (BADC), Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bangladesh Rural Development Board
(BRDB), Cotton Development Board (CDB), Tea Board (TB), Department of Youth Development
(DYD), Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) etc. Except DAE other public extension
organizations have their own way of offering extension services.
NGOs started to provide their own extension services in the late 1970s to disseminate knowledge
among their targeted clients (Haque, 2010). More than 100 local, national, and international NGOs are

Anorexia Nervos A Psychological, Familial And...
Anorexia nervosa results from a complex interplay between biological, psychological, familial and
sociocultural factors. Alice s development of anorexia nervosa can be viewed through a
psychoanalytic lens. Many of Alice s needs were not met or interpreted correctly in early childhood by
her parents, particularly her mother causing Alice to develop ego deficiencies in identity and need for
control. This thought is supported by Hilde Bruch (1974) who regarded anorectics as being in a
struggle for control and their own identity the pursuit of thinness was seen as a critical part of such a
struggle . Bruch considered that there were two main characteristics of parents that made the
development of anorexia nervosa more likely in their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

firmly together suggesting eating was a substitute for sexual activity and therefore not eating was a
way of repressing sexual urges. In conjunction with this girls could avoid development of an adult
body hold off/extinguish menstruation, avoid breast, hips and other womanly features further delaying
independence from the mother. This mentality is clearly evident in Alice in her avoidance of sexual
exploration by self or other in conjunction with focus on and loathing of body parts associated with
womanhood impossibly wide hips, obnoxious bosom and boxy curves. Alice s first restriction of food
correlated with the onset of puberty and her father infidelity/parents separation, this loss of control
over changes to body and changes to family system caused Alice ego to create defenses and manifests
itself in a control of food and weight to return to a time previous to the offending event(s).

Sociological Explanations Of Suicide
Durkheim believed that the suicide rate was a social fact; he found that social forces such as social
integration, which refers to an attachment to social groups and social regulation, which refers to the
control of individual desires by group norms (Fulcher and Scott, 2007, p.37) are factors external to the
individual and determine levels of suicide in society. Durkheim found that suicide resulted from an
imbalance of these two forces and developed a classification system. It was observed (Giddens, 2006,
p.15) that egotistic suicides are common in social groups that lack sufficient integration, resulting in
weaker social ties. For example lower suicide rates in times of social crisis such as war are attributed
to higher social integration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This information can be used in contemporary society to understand whether population density and
social integration can affect suicide rates. For instance studies in the US (Barkan, Rocque and Houle,
2013, p.288) found higher suicide rates in western areas of the country with low population density,
which can be attributed to variations in religious and familial integration. A lower rate of social
integration between groups in society serves to weaken bonds and ties usually formed during
interaction; the absence of these forces makes it difficult for people to function in modern society,
accounting for peaks in the suicide rate. This can therefore be used by sociologists to explain why
rates of suicide vary across different areas in the same

Sexual Connotation Of Dance And Music In Brazil
The article I choose is about sex in the media from Brazil, and the reason I decided to sheer the reality
from my country was my amazement about it. The magazine describe the music phrases in a popular
song that a lot kids in Brazil dancing and singing all the time. The combination words using in the
music had strong sexuality connotation, which shocked people who do not used to it. For example:
Now, I m going to talk about your rights: your right to sit, your right to quit, the right to shake ... stay
quiet, stay, be quiet. Today I m going to dance with a little skirt (that way) . Today I m single and no
one will hold me....if they play with the little I make the man go crazy . She comes out of skirt and
bikini, one hand goes on the handlebars and the other covers her panties. This kind of music is all the
time in the radio and television, many different parties, houses and people s lives, for some it has

The Attachment, Self Regulation, And Competency
The Attachment, Self Regulation, and Competency (ARC) Framework is a theoretically grounded,
evidence informed, promising practice used to treat complex trauma in children and adolescents
(Arvidson, 2011). This research shows how the application of the ARC model benefits inner city youth
who have been diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. The goal of this research is to
demonstrate that symptoms of ODD can be decreased by exposing inner city youth to ARC therapy
over a period of time. The target population is inner city youth in Chattanooga, TN who are diagnosed
with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. 50 students were chosen at random at inner city schools in the
area. 25 of the youth will be exposed to the therapy, while 25 will not be exposed and serve as the
control group. The 25 students will be exposed to ARC therapy over a span of 6 months. After the 6
month period, the behaviors will be rated again and compared to the control group that received no
treatment. Complex trauma results from exposure to severe stressors that occur within the caregiver
system or with another presumably responsible adult, are repetitive, and begin in childhood or
adolescence. As a result, many of these children and adolescents experience lifelong difficulties
related to self regulation, relationships, psychological symptoms, alterations in attention and
consciousness, self injury, identity, and cognitive distortions (Lawson, 2013). Exposure to ARC
therapy over a given time will lead to

The petri dish with the highest hatching viability was the 1.0% dish. No, the results did not support my

One of the limitation was that the experiment was unable to simulate the effects of predation. In an
actual environment some of the brine shrimp eggs could have been eaten before they are able to hatch,
but since this was in a petri dish there was no such thing as predators that have reduced the hatching
viability of the brine shrimp eggs. Another, limitation was the exact amount of brine shrimps you
could brush up. This made the hatching viability to not be as accurate because there was different
amount of eggs to start with. If there was an equal amount of eggs to begin with the hatching viability
percentage would have been more accurate since they all started the same. These two limitations made
the experiment not as reasonable because it stopped what could have happen to these brine shrimps in

The Pros And Cons Of Hunting And Hunting
In 2011, there were about sixteen million Americans older than six years old that went hunting. With
all the sixteen million hunters some would argue which weapon is better for killing game. Some
hunters just don t take into consideration the similarities and differences between hunting wild game
with a bow or hunting game with a firearm. According to the seasons to hunt in different states, there
are many animals, hunters can hunt for with both bow and different firearms. Most, wild game that
hunters are able to hunt in Missouri are universal with weapons such as whitetail deer there is a bow
season and a firearms season. The first thing to do when going is to find out what wild game to hunt.
When shooting a bow and firearms there are similarities such as the stance you take like the 90 degree
angle you make with your body (Gross 55). The similarities of these two show that it is a person who
is just starting out in hunting can start with either bow or firearm hunting since both have multiple
similarities in stance and aiming. Also, the fact that both of these weapons are made to kill most game
a hunter is able to hunt. When it comes to weapons to kill game with it boils down to 3. All of these
weapons have their certain attributes like bows can shoot only 1 arrow, a rifle can shoot a maximum of
about 3 bullets and they deal a lot of damage, and a shotgun is for up close which can get off about 3

Socially Constructed In Film
For our topics chosen for the Humanities project, we decided to do a film containing similarities and
differences between two different people and how they may look the same as the other, but
individually experiences problems throughout their everyday lives. Our goal of the film is to make
society think more about the term humanities itself and see what problems have been socially
constructed in society in general. We want to teach society, not to judge a book by its cover and
assume things based on what they are physically seeing at that moment. We want to show that
everywhere we go, everyone we see, are suffering from a problem that we know nothing about unless
given a reason to see it. We focus more on African Americans because it was easier ... Show more

We connect these terms as people assume an individual is okay because they are happy and smiling,
yet mentally, they could be facing their own problems that we are unaware about unless shown. It is
important that we think about the world we live in because we need to be aware of the problems that is
currently happening and starting to negatively affect our society. Tools of the humanities makes sense
of and responds to what is going on inside and around us by knowing the factors of what does and
does not cause problems in our society by these oppressions created. By these interlocking systems of
oppression shown in the video (Representation, Sex/Gender) studying all types of human behaviour in
general will help us receive more of a better understanding of the problems that are currently
occurring in our world today, and make human kind more aware of every little aspect of someone else
s lives, and their own life in general. If society has already socially constructed negative roles for an
individual and their lives, then that means it is possible for them to take out the negative and start
constructing the

Essay about Change in Massachusetts Politics
Change in Massachusetts Politics
Massachusetts has always been known for its politics. From the days of John Hancock and John
Adams to the Kennedy Compound and failed Dukakis presidential campaign, the Bay State is, has
been, and always will be a hotbed of political activism. But that does not mean that Massachusetts has
a vibrant two party system.
If anything can be said about Massachusetts, it is that the state and its voters are certainly lop sided
towards one party. Massachusetts currently has Democrats filling all of their US House and US Senate
Seats, as well as a 138 of 160 State House seats, and 33 of 40 State Senate seats. The only state wide
office held not held by the Democrats is the Governor s seat, which is ... Show more content on

The immigrants were forced to work extensive hours, many times could not speak English, had
limited experience with voting, and furthermore had little interest in the elite candidates that were
running.
Thus, the power of the wealthy continued to reign in the state. Staunch conservatives that held only
pro business ideologies came into office on swells of support. The state representative and senate seats
were filled to the brim with Republicans, much in the way they are filled with Democrats today.
This is most evident in the rise of Coolidge in the Bay State. Coolidge s laissez faire beliefs and elite
ideas personified the Massachusetts political scene at the time.
Slowly, however, this system began to fade. As unions grew, working immigrants became acquainted
with a new idea: leisure time. As work hours were slashed from 12 to 10 even down to a reasonable 8,
the newcomers were slowly becoming allowed to take some time to evaluate what they had been
working so hard for.
Unions: A rise to power
As Unions began to grow amongst the factory workers in the cities, a new sentiment began to grow
through the huddled masses. The idea of self determination began to slowly enter the minds of the
workers who were seeing successes on the picket lines.
As the new immigrants (who at this time may even have been second generation

Optical Network Proposal
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 OVERVIEW AND MOTIVATION
The great growth in user s demand for bandwidth due to today s network applications stir the
competition between network carriers. FSAN began studies to access needs in late 2010, they
concluded that there is a great gap between user needs and the bandwidth offered by the 10 gbps
capable Passive Optical Network (10G PON known as XGPON) technologies. A system proposal for
Next Generation Passive Optical Network (NG PON2) stage 2 was commenced in 2011. Among other
solutions Time and Wavelength Division Multiplexing Passive Optical Network (TWDM PON)
technology was recommended at the April 2012 meeting as a primary solution to design and
implement NG PON2 [1]. This network design achieves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the distribution fiber (DF), each output port of RN1 goes to a different remote node 2 (RN2)
which includes a power splitter (PS), and then each output port of the PS is connected to a different
ONU by the last mile fiber (LMF). According to the RN1 configuration, we have three variants of a
TWDM PON architecture: a) Wavelength Selected TWDM PON with PSs at the RN1; b) Wavelength
Split TWDM PON with arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) at the RN1; and c) Wavelength Switched
TWDM PON with wavelength selective switches (WSSs) at the RN1. The wavelength selected
TWDM PON is a fully flexible solution as the PS at RN1 broadcasts all wavelengths to all users, but
has a high insertion loss and poor security due to the use of only PSs. The wavelength split TWDM
PON has a fixed wavelength allocation and thus will not be able to serve flexibility advantages.
However, paper [4] shows that the full flexibility is not always required and a partial flexible solution
can already give several advantages of flexibility. Overcoming the drawbacks of both wavelength
selected and wavelength split, paper [5] proposed such a partially flexible solution with a WSS in
RN1, which we refer as the wavelength switched TWDM PON.
To address some of the challenges related to the future high capacity transport networks, a particular
communication system should mainly focus on three major areas (i.e., impact of traffic locality on the
network infrastructure, cost versus reliability of future

  • 3. Nazi Germany And Its Detrimental Effects On The Social... When looking into the history of Germany and determining what led to the startling rise in Nazism in Germany and its detrimental effects on the social outcasts in Europe, it can be easy to deduce that the Nazi regime was one where Hitler walked in with his officials and took office by force. The truth is that, while the Nazi party is responsible for the atrocities that occurred before and during WWII, they would have not gotten far if it hadn t been for the cooperation of the German people themselves. Life in the Third Reich provides proof through voting, youth programs and village life that the Nazi party rose into power with German support. In Village Life in Nazi Germany, essayist Gerhard Wilke discusses the rise of Nazism in the small village of Korle, discussing how with the rapid political changes in Germany from an empire to a democratic nation also affected the power balances of small villages. Despite the efforts of the older generations to keep some sort of semblance of the old traditions, it was their children who wanted change and found themselves attracted to Nazism and formed the first local branch of the party in 1928. The reason for this, Wilke says is that they wanted radical solutions to three existential and ideological problems: the survival of their generation as independent farmer, the preservation of their political dominance, and the suppression of their enemies (The Jews and the working class). And the youth of villages came together in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Chemical Equilibrium Lab Abstract: For this experiment we are looking to determine the equilibrium constant KC for this reaction, KC = [FeSCN2+]/([Fe3+][SCN ]. Using a spectrophotometer, we are going to determine the absorbance of FeSCN2+ with different concentration measurements. Introduction: Chemical equilibrium can be determined using different methods. Chemical equilibrium exists when the rate of both sides are equal. Once equilibrium has been reached, the amounts of products and reactants are constant, but if one of the products or reactant concentration can be measured, it can then be used to determine the remaining concentrations and find the equilibrium constant. One way of finding the equilibrium concentration is knowing the equilibrium concentration of the product FeSCN2+,which can make it possible to determine the equilibrium concentrations of reactants. First we would calculate the concentration of each original reactant before equilibrium was achieved using the initial volume and concentration information. Then calculate the concentration of FeSCN2+ formed. Since products and reactants are in a 1:1 mole ratio and any product formed reduces the amount of reactant remaining, the ... In this experiment, we will be combining aqueous solutions of iron(III) ion (Fe3+) and thiocyanate ion (SCN ). The reaction that occurs produces the thiocyanoiron(III) complex ion which creates the equilibrium mixture s red color. The final concentrations of products and reactants will depend on the amounts of reactants before the reaction occurs. The equilibrium concentrations must satisfy the following equation: (the bracketed terms are molar equilibrium concentrations of the different species, and Kc is the temperature dependent equilibrium ... • 5. The Work Of Marina Abramovic In this essay I will be looking into the work of Marina Abramovic in relation to the Feminist movement. By looking at her work, I aim to emphasise her influence on this movement. In this essay, I shall also briefly examine the works of Abramovic, particularly Art is Beautiful, Artist must be Beautiful (1975) and four of her performances from her Rhythm series (10 (1973), 0 (1974), 2 (1974), and 5 (1974)). I shall describe the history of the Feminist movement and its influence in order to develop an understanding of Abramovic s influence. Marina Abramovic, was born on 30th November 1946 in Belgrade, Serbia (former Yugoslavia), from an early age she was interested in art and as a teenager she felt the need to define herself and her own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abramovic s performances can be read as feminist works, even though she has expressed that she was not particularly concerning herself with womens issues (Richards, 2010:19). This could be due to her upbringing in Yugoslavia, where as a Communist country, there is less gender inequality than that which is experienced by many women in the Western world (Richards, 2010:19). Also, as a woman, Abramovic was given the freedom to perform pieces such as her Rhythm series, as she was seen as less of a threat than other artists in the 1970 s (Richards, 2010:2). This is problematic in itself, as it shows that as a female artist, Abramovic was not expected to create much of an impact on the political world, perhaps suggesting that even in a country where women have more gender equality with men, they are still subjected to the ideologies that women belong in the private sphere, whereas men are thought to belong in the public sphere, meaning that they are taken more seriously in political issues and are thought to have more influence in these. Abramovic s performances can be contextually analysed in terms of Ecriture Feminine, The Abject Body and Feminism. Bell Hooks defines feminism as a movement to end sexism and sexist domination and oppression, a struggle that includes efforts to end gender discrimination and create equality (Hooks, 2000: 113). Feminism is also a political position (Barry, 2002:22). The term Ecriture Feminine was coined by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Truman Capote and Postmodernism Truman Capote, as obsessed with fame and fortune as with penning great words, was a writer who became as well known for his late night talk show appearances as for his prose (Patterson 1). Capote was a literary pop star at the height of his fame in 1966, after he had written such classic books as, Other Rooms, Other Voices, Breakfast at Tiffany s, and In Cold Blood. Postmodernism was a literary period that began after the Second World War and was a rejection of traditional writing techniques. It used fragmented sentences and questionable narrators, as well as many other unconventional techniques, to break the previous barriers of literature. Truman Capote was a major player in the postmodern game, using his own broken childhood to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Capote validates Smith for trying to break out of the social mold of the problem child . Capote is also indifferent towards the lives of the Clutters. Mr. Clutter couldn t escape Perry Smith s stereotype of him as the self righteous tormentor and therefore could not escape Smith s revenge on the society that shunned him. The motifs that capote uses in this novel were the animals that he featured in it. The animals that Capote mentions in this book are weak and defenseless, and they symbolize the defenselessness of Smith and even of Capote. Capote was frustrated with societies condemnation of people outside the social norms, and it show in this book through his pessimistic point of view. He feels contempt for the pious Clutter family because they represented the type of people that abandoned him as a child. If Capote s mission for In Cold Blood was to create an unbiased account of what took place during the murder of the Clutter family and other facts the surround the event, then he failed because his opinion is quite clear throughout the entire book (Kim np). I Agree with Lydia Kim s opinion of how Capote s so called non fiction novel was laced with his opinions and strong emotional connection with Perry Smith. After reading several biographical essays on Truman Capote, and reading an excerpt of In Cold Blood, it became clear that Capote was a very opinionated character who would often say what was on his mind, whether it was an ... • 7. The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Autism Individuals with autism are often described in terms of the impairments, challenges and difficulties that affect them. When people hear the word autism , most of them automatically think of impaired communication and social interaction, of repetitive and often challenging behaviour. Others might think of sensory issues, echolalia, narrow range of interests and the lack of empathy, as well as weak central coherence and impairment of the theory of mind. The list can go on. The fact is, that one will almost certainly think of challenges and deficits rather than strengths when the word autism is mentioned. The purpose of this essay is not to try and prove that the strengths of autism outweigh the challenges that would simply be untrue. This essay will discuss the possible standards of Joe and Roy implied in the play, Angels in America by Tony Kushner, while discussing how they can be both valuable and questionable. Kushner implies that religious ideals act as guidelines for those who follow them. He brings this point across with the character called Joe. A Mormon who has used those ... As long as my behavior is what I know it has to be (Angels in America pg. 40). Kushner s choice of words for Joe seem to suggest that he is fighting the wrong inside him but only because thats what these religious ideals dictate he should do. Joe seems to be hiding the fact that he is a homosexual, we see this when his wife Harper asks him and he responds; What if I... No. I m not. I don t see what difference it makes (Angels in America pg. 38). This is an example of how religious ideals bring difficulties not only in how a person lives but also their sexuality. Kushner also prompts the consideration of having personal highly desirable goals. He introduces such standards with another character called Roy Cohn who has achieved a great deal of power by focusing on himself alone; don t be afraid to live in the raw wind, naked, alone... • 9. Carter Style Essay The writings of Angela Carter are those like none other, in the way of style, themes, symbols and motifs. The stories written by Carter are not those of cheerfulness and happy endings, they are different in a most spectacular way. Carter s fairy tales are a frightening look at the true reality or what fairy tales really are. Angela Carter has written many of these tales in a much more deep and complex manner. Each tale of hers has its own style, themes symbols and motifs yet she does show some similarities in each of her works. This is a very difficult choice for Belle for she is the purest of women, and has much difficulty in doing this. She is also afraid for her life, believing the beast will eat her if she does decide to show herself to him. If she should decide not to reveal herself, the beast would then reveal himself to her, in which she was also terrified of what she might see. After she tries to put herself through the unthinkable and failing, the beast and his valet take belle on a ride through the forest where they stop and talk a while. In this setting of the story, the beast reveals himself to Belle and shows his real self and earns the respect of Belle. After she realized the courage and trust the beast had shown to her, she decides that it is only right to do the same for him. When she appears in front of the beast unclothed, the Tiger crept up and licked the skin off of the young girl and revealed her long fur, as she also was a beast. The Coral Island by R. M. Ballantyne suggests the former; young English boys, upon landing on an Eden esque island would develop a civilization, spread Christianity, and explore. William Golding, a writer and officer of the British Royal Navy in World War II, however, has a different perspective on this theoretical scenario and wrote Lord of the Flies to demonstrate this social experiment on humanity when left to its own devices. Stripping off her clothes, she swims out to sea until her arms can no longer support her, and she drowns. We are told that she walks down to the beach rather mechanically, (Chopin 108) and that she doesn t think about much, other than the heat of the sun. She continues on to her ultimate death, apparently understanding and willing. Comparatively, there seems very little evidence to say that it was not suicide. A large part of any argument for just death stems from her impulsiveness, and that she could ve been struck with the urge to swim very far out without thinking of the consequences. This argument is not terribly valid since we are told that she has, in fact, thought about her trip to the beach quite a lot. The gastropods would require moisture from the ocean to prevent desiccation while the bivalves would be able to survive longer periods exposed since the shell could be closed temporarily until conditions were favourable. The fossils in the lower silty layers were most likely formed below water by normal geological processes. The sea level rose covering the organisms and the layers of silt settled above them. In the upper sandy layers the fossils could have been formed above water by a sudden catastrophic event as a result of ongoing erosive processes. • 17. Sentencing Disparities And Race On Criminal Sentencing Introduction Sentencing disparities as a result of an individual s race or ethnic background, has been one of the most frequently investigated topics in criminological research. (Mitchell, Mackenzie 2004). Several studies have attempted to understand the impact of the offenders race on criminal sentencing but there has been variation in the results some of studies concluded race does effect sentencing regardless of the legal variables; some studies revealed it does not; while other studies concluded that race does impact sentencing when coupled with other factors. (Pratt 1998). Research has revealed that sentencing disparities by race are a result of the type of criminal offense as the variable to the impact on sentencing decisions. The implications of sentencing disparities by race suggests that minority individuals are targeted more frequently in the criminal justice system. Accordingly, there is a clear need to explore all possible variables that may create sentencing disparities for minorities. The current study will fill some of the void of former research by exploring sentencing disparities among a large sample of gang members and non gang members who were sentenced to prison for serious crimes in the state of California. Specifically, the study is interested in examining whether gang members become targeted by law enforcement personnel because of their gang related activities, or because of their race. Both topics generated discussion that was centered around the contributions that were made within Children s Literature and how they could deepen young reader s understanding of the content presented to them in children books. I believe the book The Sneetches and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss would ve been a great addition to the class reading list. In this book, Dr. Seuss discussed topics such as discrimination, prejudice, acceptance, and tolerance which are all topics people wouldn t think are suitable for a children s book. The themes were used as underlying messages throughout the story and the illustration presented a visual to readers, so that they could have a clear understanding of what Dr. Seuss was writing. It is not a frivolous study for those who are poor at math and science. No, literature is a conduit that connects an individual to the vast, ever expanding pool of human knowledge. In addition to connecting us to the past and improving our writing skills, literature widens our perspectives allowing us to explore the strengths as well as the faults of human individuals and societies. Some genres of literature are better than others when exploring human nature, and science fiction is one of the best. Darko Suvin, author of an analysis on science fiction titled Estrangement and Cognition, assets that all science fiction introduces a new idea, called a novum, that effectively challenges a reader s worldview. It can educate us about other cultures and increase sympathies for those who we see as different from us simply by giving us exposure to what is foreign. Authors Octavia Butler and Philip José Farmer both use cognitive estrangement in this way to suggest and reinforce the idea that humans are too resistant to change, and are inherently xenophobic. It is important to understand how science fiction is used to convey an author s ideas. In a nutshell, Darko Suvin delineates science fiction as a literary genre that utilizes cognitive estrangement in order to build an imaginary, yet believable, world centered around a novum (Suvin 7 8). He further defines estrangement as the creative and fantastic side of the genre. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is true that most parents want what is best for their children; however, the methodology and resources for childrearing vary from home to home. Today s society is built on self discipline, self reliance, and skill; therefore, the development of little ones must take center stage. However, this development is unique just as the children and the parents who are responsible for their upbringing are unique. While preschool programs can be a beneficial tool, it should not be mandatory because there is no significant evidence of success for federally funded programs; early childhood development occurs diversley among children; and parents alone are best qualified and responsible to nurture their preschoolers as they see fit. Some believe that the best way to tackle the challenge of a high functioning society is to mandate a well defined preschool program. In 1965, Head Start became a federally funded organization designed to foster early development for families who could not access it otherwise. (Clemmitt, 2014). I am going to display some of these existing similarities within hip hop and jazz cultures. The similarities between the two African American cultures is also quite great. I will ask and answer questions such as: what were the effects the urban ghettos from which both of these cultures arose out of had upon their initial development, and what are some ways in which the music of both of these cultures is a form of alternative and self empowering language? The American Of Revolt Against Great Britain There were many reasons that the American colonies decided to revolt against Great Britain, but some of the more major causes of the American revolution were the banning of arms , the very unpopular Stamp Act, the Declaratory Act, and the Boston Tea Port Acts. Another unpopular Act enforced on the colonies, by His Majesty of Great Britain, was the now famous Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was a set of laws created by the King and parliament, saying that the American colonists had to pay more taxes than the people in Great Britain were paying, as a way to pay off the cost of the Seven Years War. This Act was upsetting to the colonists because they didn t get the chance to have a say in wether or not they were okay with/wanted such large taxes being imposed upon them. This can be seen in Document A, when the colonists wrote in a letter to the king that it is inseparably essential to the freedom of a people, and the undoubted right of Englishmen, that no taxes be imposed on them, but with their own consent, given personally, or by their representatives. This quote shows that the colonists did not agree with the taxation, or at least not without them being represented in Great Britain. Alice s development of anorexia nervosa can be viewed through a psychoanalytic lens. Many of Alice s needs were not met or interpreted correctly in early childhood by her parents, particularly her mother causing Alice to develop ego deficiencies in identity and need for control. This thought is supported by Hilde Bruch (1974) who regarded anorectics as being in a struggle for control and their own identity the pursuit of thinness was seen as a critical part of such a struggle . Bruch considered that there were two main characteristics of parents that made the development of anorexia nervosa more likely in their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This mentality is clearly evident in Alice in her avoidance of sexual exploration by self or other in conjunction with focus on and loathing of body parts associated with womanhood impossibly wide hips, obnoxious bosom and boxy curves. Alice s first restriction of food correlated with the onset of puberty and her father infidelity/parents separation, this loss of control over changes to body and changes to family system caused Alice ego to create defenses and manifests itself in a control of food and weight to return to a time previous to the offending event(s). • 30. Sociological Explanations Of Suicide Durkheim believed that the suicide rate was a social fact; he found that social forces such as social integration, which refers to an attachment to social groups and social regulation, which refers to the control of individual desires by group norms (Fulcher and Scott, 2007, p.37) are factors external to the individual and determine levels of suicide in society. Durkheim found that suicide resulted from an imbalance of these two forces and developed a classification system. It was observed (Giddens, 2006, p.15) that egotistic suicides are common in social groups that lack sufficient integration, resulting in weaker social ties. For example lower suicide rates in times of social crisis such as war are attributed to higher social integration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This information can be used in contemporary society to understand whether population density and social integration can affect suicide rates. For instance studies in the US (Barkan, Rocque and Houle, 2013, p.288) found higher suicide rates in western areas of the country with low population density, which can be attributed to variations in religious and familial integration. A lower rate of social integration between groups in society serves to weaken bonds and ties usually formed during interaction; the absence of these forces makes it difficult for people to function in modern society, accounting for peaks in the suicide rate. This can therefore be used by sociologists to explain why rates of suicide vary across different areas in the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Attachment, Self Regulation, And Competency The Attachment, Self Regulation, and Competency (ARC) Framework is a theoretically grounded, evidence informed, promising practice used to treat complex trauma in children and adolescents (Arvidson, 2011). This research shows how the application of the ARC model benefits inner city youth who have been diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. The goal of this research is to demonstrate that symptoms of ODD can be decreased by exposing inner city youth to ARC therapy over a period of time. The target population is inner city youth in Chattanooga, TN who are diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. 50 students were chosen at random at inner city schools in the area. 25 of the youth will be exposed to the therapy, while 25 will not be exposed and serve as the control group. The 25 students will be exposed to ARC therapy over a span of 6 months. After the 6 month period, the behaviors will be rated again and compared to the control group that received no treatment. Complex trauma results from exposure to severe stressors that occur within the caregiver system or with another presumably responsible adult, are repetitive, and begin in childhood or adolescence. As a result, many of these children and adolescents experience lifelong difficulties related to self regulation, relationships, psychological symptoms, alterations in attention and consciousness, self injury, identity, and cognitive distortions (Lawson, 2013). My prediction did not match the results because in the 1.5% petri dish it showed a lower hatching viability compared to the 1.0% petri dish. After, the results came out it was proven that the best NaCl solution for the brine shrimp was the 1.0 petri dish because it wasn t too concentrated and it wasnt too little. Another, limitation was the exact amount of brine shrimps you could brush up. This made the hatching viability to not be as accurate because there was different amount of eggs to start with. According to the RN1 configuration, we have three variants of a TWDM PON architecture: a) Wavelength Selected TWDM PON with PSs at the RN1; b) Wavelength Split TWDM PON with arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) at the RN1; and c) Wavelength Switched TWDM PON with wavelength selective switches (WSSs) at the RN1. The wavelength selected TWDM PON is a fully flexible solution as the PS at RN1 broadcasts all wavelengths to all users, but has a high insertion loss and poor security due to the use of only PSs. The wavelength split TWDM PON has a fixed wavelength allocation and thus will not be able to serve flexibility advantages. However, paper [4] shows that the full flexibility is not always required and a partial flexible solution can already give several advantages of flexibility. Overcoming the drawbacks of both wavelength selected and wavelength split, paper [5] proposed such a partially flexible solution with a WSS in RN1, which we refer as the wavelength switched TWDM PON.
