Veganism and a Sustainable Lifestyle Essay
Albert Schweitzer, French philosopher, physician, and musician, said until he extends the circle of his
compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace. This is a tacit statement, humanity
will not be able to find peace until it adopts a more sustainable lifestyle, and it has been proven time
and time again, that veganism is that lifestyle. Becoming vegan is a powerful experience, and one
feels rejuvenated, both morally and physically, after acclimating to the diet, and, although the
opposition claims that veganism is either detrimental or useless, the diet is, in fact, beneficial to the
environment, to animals, and the individuals who follow the lifestyle. Meat production is wasteful,
expensive, and harmful to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3). This waste is not effectively disposed, and has a very negative impact on the environment
surrounding the plant (para. 4). The animals themselves aren t the only ones producing pollutants, the
chemical fertilizers and pesticides used in factory farms have turned agriculture into a leading source
of water pollution, (para. 8). L. Baroni, of the Department of Neurorehabilitation at Villa Salus
Hospital, et al., concluded that a diet higher in animal products is more detrimental to the environment
than one absent of them (282). This is expounded upon by a report by the EPA that estimated that
animal agriculture has polluted over 35,000 miles of American river (Sustainable Table para. 20).
While the world s rivers, lakes, and oceans become more and more polluted, it becomes apparent how
irresponsible it is to support the meat industry by buying their packaged flesh, because, as demand for
meat increases with the world s growing population and waist line, so will the harmful emissions and
slurry produced by these farms. In addition, the opposition argues that the environmental benefits of
veganism are not enough for them to give up consuming animal products, and that, since they believe
animals are not sentient or able to experience pain, there is no reason for them to change their ways;
however, many studies have been conducted that prove animals are both intelligent, and cognizant of
pain. Though some make speciesist arguments that animals are too far

Short Story Burn 3 By Kami Garcia
In the short story Burn 3 by Kami Garcia, the author s created world can be identified as a dystopia
because of the characters fear of the outside world, and their society s banishment of the natural world.
In Burn 3 , a girl named Phoenix and her sister Sky live in a post apocalyptic world in which the
ozone layer has been destroyed, leaving the surface of the Earth to be burned by the Sun s intense UV
radiation. Humans live in Domes, which are constructed environments in which there is a protective
shield over an area where humans are able to live above ground. One day, Phoenix s sister Sky is
kidnapped, and taken into the tunnels beneath the Dome to have her skin removed and sold to those
who have been burned by the Sun s rays. Through the help of one of the people living in the tunnels,
Sky and the other children who have been kidnapped are saved from their death, and return above
ground. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the citizens greatest fear is of the outside world, and not without reason. The Dome is the only thing

Animal Testing Persuasive Essay
Did you know that 100 million animals are killed annually due to animal testing ( The Truth about
Animals Used for Experimentation )? Vivisection is the practice of doing operations on live animals
for scientific research or medical advancements. It occurs all over the world including the U.S. There
are anti vivisectionists, those who doesn t believe in animal testing, and pro vivisectionists, those who
believe in animal testing (Coster 6). Animals should not used in medical testing because it s inhumane,
unnecessary, ineffective and costly.
Animals are treated immorally and inhumanely in testing facilities. Many pro vivisectionists claim
animals are treated respectfully but this is false. Experiments done on animals are violent, harmful and
sickening:
Experiments can involve: drowning, suffocating, starving, burning, blinding, destroying hearing,
damaging brains, severing limbs, crushing organs, inducing heart attacks, ulcers, and paralysis. ( The
Truth about Animals Used for Experimentation )
Many of these procedures are considered mild , but these are very severe procedures which almost
always result in the death of the animal ( About Animal Testing ).
In 2013, an investigation took place in an United Kingdom laboratory. The findings were shocking.
Investigators found that tests were being done are very young puppies and kittens. The puppies were
removed from their mothers at only 4 weeks of age. They were tested and many died in tests. Even

Positive And Negative Effects Of Globalization
Globalization affected the economy in South Asia, specifically Bangladesh, Philippines, and
Afghanistan, in both good ways and bad ways. Bangladesh is one of the countries who have been
affected negatively. The Bangladesh government should enforce the labor law in Bangladesh. The
Philippines has been impacted positively, however they should still work on business freedom.
Afghanistan has also been impacted negatively, and the government should inaugurate a free
educational program for the struggling families. Bangladesh was impacted negatively by
Globalization. Bangladesh has been known to have had incidents where workers have lost lives due to
the poor labor conditions they were working upon. Workers are told to work long shifts every day,
receiving very little pay for the work that they did. In the article titled Factory Collapses in
Bangladesh , by The Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights, It states how the standard shift for
a worker is 13 14 ½ hours. This adds up to 90 100 hours/week, with only 2 days off in the entire
month. The money that the workers received ranged from 12 22 cents/hour, depending on the age of
the worker. This means that Globalization caused the factories to move to countries like Bangladesh to
have more workers working for longer periods of time and pay them as little money as possible.
Bangladesh has one of the most lowest wages in the world, Working in the factories means making
less money because the owners ignore the laws. Many of

Gold Rush Negative Effects
Thousands of people migrating west, new opportunities coming their way, heading towards the gold
found in San Francisco. After gold found in the state of California, thousands of people came over
there to mine the gold and get rich, making the Gold Rush largest migration in world history. So many
people came to California that the state became the most diverse state in the United States. Although
there were positive attributes to the Gold Rush, the Gold Rush mostly had a negative effect on
America because of the harsh journey and the ruined landscape.
To begin, the rough journey to migrate west certainly negatively affected the United States of
America. While the american citizens were traveling to the west for gold, an extreme cholera outbreak
developed due to the unsanitary conditions that the migrants had to deal with (Gillon 65). These
people were not at their home where they have supplies and cleaning equipment; they were living in
tents where they had no access to anything like a broom to sweep the floor. If someone got dirty or
sick, they couldn t do anything about other than wash up in the river, which would worsen the cholera
outbreak. A Native American described the scene as a solid mass of wagons and men digging graves
on each side of the river; men dying in their wagons, hallooing and crying and cramping from cholera,
women screaming and hallooing and praying (Gillon 65). Because of the filthy conditions, many
people were screaming and dying from cholera. These people are putting up with so much pain just to
get some gold, which they may not live to see. Hence, because of the long, harsh journey with foul
conditions, the Gold Rush undoubtedly negatively impacted the ... Show more content on

Causes Of Crimes Against Humanity Essay
We know crimes against humanity as a deliberate criminal act or acts that are typically part of a
systematic campaign which causes human suffering or death on a large scale. The acts are an attack on
human dignity where the crimes can be committed during times of war and peace. Offences that come
under this category include murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation or forcible transfer of a
population, imprisonment or other severe deprivation of physical liberty, torture, sexual violence,
persecution against any identifiable group or collective, enforced disappearance of persons and other
inhumane acts of a similar character and gravity1,2,3.
I have decided to examine sexual violence and in particular the motivations behind such crimes that
constitute as sexual violence; this encompasses crimes such as rape, sexual slavery, enforced
prostitution, forced pregnancy, enforced sterilization, or any other form of sexual violence of
comparable gravity1,2,3,. In particular I am going to examine sexual violence in reference to the
conflict in former Yugoslavia, known as the Bosnian war.
The Bosnian War of 1992 1995 was a major conflict that was seen to be politically and racially
motivated between the Serbian s, Croatian s and Bosnian s. During this time the Serbian s were
participating in an illegal conflict by being in violation of the Geneva conventions, customary laws, as
well as committing odious offences that we know as crimes against humanity4.

Lack Of Success Between 1815 And 1848
Italian Nationalism s lack of success between 1815 and 1848 stemmed from four important reasons,
the main factor for lack of success was the Austrian Empire but was however not the only factor.
Other factors preventing Italian nationalism were, lack of national identity, divisions amongst the
nationalists and the church.
During 1815 and 1848 the Austrian rule within the Italian peninsula was brutal and repressive. The
Italian language had been banned in public life. Signs, law courts, newspapers and schools all had to
be in German the language of the Austrians, throughout regions directly ruled by Austria there was
also a network of spies and informers listening to peoples business to imprison suspected Italian
nationalists some of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pope feared Italian nationalism as he didn t want to lose control over the states of the church and
also the money the church created through taxation and pilgrms. The pope also opposed Italian
Nationalism as he felt sympathetic towards the Habsburgs and the Bourbons as they were the rulers of
southern Italy and the two most powerful royal families in Europe and he did not wish to weaken them
by supporting Italian Nationalism. The pope feared what he called a civil war the Austrian Habsburgs,
Spanish Bourbons and Italian Nationalists all followed the Catholic religion, the pope would not
condone a Nationalist Revolution in which Catholics killed Catholics. furthermore the pope was a
very conservative individual, therefore feared new ideas and social change such as liberalism and
socialism. the pope feared that Italian nationalism would lead to the church being persecuted like it
had been in the French revolution and because of this the Catholic church in Italy threatened to ex
communicate any Catholic found to be a member of any Nationalist organisations, these factors
throughout the church also contributed to the lack of Italian nationalist

Essay On Female Oppression
Women and minorities experience oppression both similarly and differently. To start, gender identity is
the root of socially assigned male and female roles in society. From the moment an individual is born
he or she is treated in accordance to their gender identity. A child s name, clothing type, group of
friends friends, and family roles are decided based off of a gender basis. As he or she enters the
working world, his or her pay scales, professions, work environments, and public restrooms are based
on whether the individual is male or female, as well. Sex categorization is a basis for assigning
individuals to adult roles in society. Gender may be the most basic category of diversity simply
because gender roles are identified and enacted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oppression and subordination affect all women of color and social classes. Women and minorities
both feel inferior to the superior, or dominant group. Young and Dickerson (1994) argue that the idea
of sexism cannot be delineated from the effects of racism and classism. In an essay written by Chafe
(1998) regarding sex and race, he believes that sexism and racism are interlocked in three methods of
social control. This is so because the dominant culture attempts to keep women and African
Americans in their place . First off, there is physical intimidation and threats of violence against both
groups. The idea that males need to protect women suggests that women are incapable of taking care
of themselves. Second, there is domination of the economic status of both African Americans and
women by white, dominant, masculine hierarchies of power. Women must please males, either
sexually or through other services, making honest communication and mutuality impossible. When
women get paid unequally in the workforce, the position is now deemed as women s work . Finally,
women and minorities have a limitation to their goals and aspirations. When women challenge or
protest against their role, they are viewed as angry feminists, unsexed, or saboteurs of family

Willful Ignorance In Lewis Carroll s Alice Through The...
We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already
done, expressed by the American writer and poet, Henry Longfellow. In a like manner, Lewis Carroll
an American writer published a work titled Alice Through the Looking Glass, which addresses the
different views of social behavior. This particular source suggests the overall idea of perception
through a fantasy land with Alice, the main character embarking on a new journey. Alice is aware that
she is in a new place, however, chooses to not make it her priority. That idea of choosing to not make
something a priority when you know that it s a significant issue is called willful ignorance, which is

Rather, informing people of their options seems like the only viable solution to changing the world
through the lifestyle approach method. For instance, according to a recent survey of American workers
by Accounting Principals, Americans who regularly buy coffee throughout the week spend on average,
$1,092 on coffee annually (Muniz). The spending of a luxury like coffee daily seems absurd when
comparing the population of people in poverty in the United States an estimated 43.1 million
Americans lived in poverty according to the official measure (What). To put in perspective that the
43.1 million people could have food, water, and shelter the basic necessities needed to live. If we just
skipped the daily coffee and perhaps drank water instead. This type of action is described as
volunteering and just one person s contribution saves their whole country. Now picture, each person
accomplishing the same thing, economical issues would cease to exist since the temptation would
cease to exist. Sounds simple, yet people who are in higher ranks would have more to give up
compared to a person who owns nothing of value. If the model were applied drastic changes would
come about over a long period of time. Ultimately, the choice comes down to the people. The options
are available, however, will someone choose to change their

Benefits Of Good Oral Hygiene Essay
Introduction
The advantages of good oral hygiene can help prevent existing and prevalent dental problems,
primarily plaque and calculus, which are the major causes of caries (cavities) and tooth decay. Dental
caries are not only found in the adolescent population, but are also found in adults, due to gums
receding throughout the aging process. This exposes the roots of teeth to the different types of bacteria
that cause plaque and tooth decay. To be sure, seniors with poor health are no exception to dental
caries and are often the most affected due to low fluoride use and/or poor oral care during
adolescence. However, while dental caries and tooth decay are the most prominent topics of oral
health, there is also a close connection association between poor dental care and overall health. Poor
oral health can cause severe consequences in people with cardiovascular disease (CHD) due to the
bacteria and periodontal diseases found in gums that enter the bloodstream and thus, into the heart,
causing atherosclerosis. Another outcome of poor dental care is the increased risk of bacteria from
gingivitis, called spirochetes, entering the brain through the bloodstream. This can eventually lead to
the progression of Alzheimer s disease or dementia. Periodontal disease and gum inflammation the
inflammation of gums can also interfere with blood sugar levels and can cause symptoms to rise in
diabetic patients. In addition, the increased risk of respiratory infections like pneumonia, which

Free Will Debate
The Debate over Free will
Free will is the capacity to select between different possible ways of action. We are given free will to
make our own choice. This free will is a gift, so we can decide the way to live. Still, we should keep in
mind that the free will is a responsibility and a gift. The choices people make are a part of the free will
and both are compatible. Thus, the idea of free has been argued by numerous philosophers. Therefore,
my explanation will base on free will and the consequences of the choice.
When you are given the ability to decide on your own, it is free will. For instance, a person was given
a personal choice to make and he said to his friend; Do not make me think; tell me what to do. This
person did not want to utilize free will and decide on his own, he wanted to be told. Likewise, people
have a diverse view about free will. Despite their different perspective, free will is a gift. It comes to
the point each person ends up to have different variety of free will. In addition to this gift of free will,
you are not preprogrammed to please anyone as a robot. Therefore, we can have visualized it this way;
having a gift that is mechanically or one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can determine which choice to make in a situation base on ethical standards and moral values.
Even though, we may not control our upbringing in this world, the ability to access over twenty
percent of our brain is available. My point, though, is that as a child, you have less free will but as an
adult it is freely to exercise it. As we aspire to have all the supernatural or super abilities; it s
impossible to achieve it. Thus, some people will use a meditative process for getting supernatural
powers. To acquire this kind of power, you need to mediate in an organized way. However, it is strictly
prohibited to do mediation to only achieve

What Are Some Recent Changes In Law, Attitudes, Or Policy...
Sexual Tolerance 2
What are some recent changes in law, attitude, or policy regarding sexual
tolerance? Attitude of the world today is continuously changing due to policy and
procedures of gay marriages, and gays in the military (News batch, July 2014).
The current status of society and how we see homosexuality in today s world is
and will always and forever evolving. In addition, the greater social acceptance of homosexuality in
the
U.S. is catching on and moving from one state to another. There are 18 states and a
continuously growing number of countries that now recognize gay marriages. America has come a
long way with this victory of recognizing same sex marriages and being open minded enough not to
judge those who chose to go the route of same sex marriage and or being a transgender The legislative
landmark was preceded by the 2009 addition of sexual orientation to hate crimes
legislation.
The more we talk about sexuality and public policy the more we can see change
because that allows us to understand each other better. While there are obvious civil
liberty issues concerning social governmental oversight of personal sexual behavior,
human sexuality is in fact an activity, which is highly regulated by society through
custom, religion and legislation. Even those who adopt a libertarian attitude toward
sexuality tend to respect modern social prohibitions regarding certain behaviors. The

Aggression in Youth Linked to Moral Development
The development of aggression in youth has been linked to their moral development. As children get
older, they become increasingly more aware of social judgments of acceptable behavior. Moral
development is the process that allows children to comprehend, incorporate, and apply moral and
ethical values to the behaviors they enact in everyday life (3). Because there is evidence that supports
a relationship between individuals genetic makeup and their aggressive behaviors, psychological
development is thought to begin in the womb. It is in the womb where the child receives all the genes
necessary for future development. There are factors that influence prenatal development of genes in
the womb such as poor maternal nutrition, exposure to surrounding environmental toxins, or the
ingestion of alcohol by future mothers. These factors along with rapid growth of the brain during the
second half of pregnancy puts fetuses at risk for having underdeveloped brains which affect the
children s future reasoning abilities (3). However, all children begin life as amoral beings in the state
of infancy because most of their behavior is being involuntarily controlled by the subcortical region of
the brain. Over the course of the first year infants slowly gain control of their impulses and
predecessors of anti social behavior emerge towards the end of it (3). This was exemplified by
Margaret C. Holmberg in her 1980 study of the development of social behaviors conducted on
children one to three

John Bowlby s Work Of Attachment
John Bowlby s work in attachment has been one of the foundational works when determining the level
of attachments and bonds that a child and parent may experience (Webb, 2011). According to Bowlby,
attachment is referring to a lasting, mutual bond of affection that is dependent on an individual or
more than one person (Webb, 2011). Establishing a secure attachment during infancy and early
childhood is an important task of a parent or a caregiver. Not all parents or caregivers can provide
their child or children with a secure attachment at this important in life due to various reasons. Since
parents are the main providers in their child s development of attachment, their lives and history have
a great influence on their children s lives. One psychosocial factor is the family s socioeconomic
status. Socioeconomic statuses have been researched to be one of the most influential factors in rather
or not a family will succeed or face challenges, it can be a determinant in the development of mental
health, physical health, and emotional health. A parent s educational level, their occupation, and
income could place the family in either a beneficial or hindering situation, in return, affecting the way
a parent could establish attachment with their child. For example, a single parent raising their child
and having to manage two jobs, could result in limited attachment to their parent or primary caregiver.

Themes And Alienation In Bartleby The Scrivener By Herman...
In Herman Melville s short story, Bartleby the Scrivener the author portrays the action and reaction of
his characters to form three important themes: Alienation, man s desire to avoid conflict, and man s
desire to keep a free conscience. Some readers may infer that Herman is giving them an insight on
specifically the way Bartleby mind works. However through Bartleby s responses and reactions we
learn more about the narrator, and is ironically where the themes arise. From the time Herman wrote
this short story in 1853 to todays society in 2015 we can still see the appearance of theses themes.
Alienation is an important literary theme that can be found throughout Hermans story, Bartleby the

The Major Causes Of The French Revolution 1789-1799
During the time period 1789 1799, France experienced a revolution, known as the French Revolution.
French citizens, particularly the Third Estate fought for equality and a fresh political landscape. This
revolution altered the economic, social, political, and cultural aspects of France. People often banter
about what was the main factor that triggered the outbreak of the French Revolution. What most
people do not understand is that the Revolution was caused by many different factors. The French
Revolution (1789 1799) was caused by three main factors, which were the ideas formed throughout
the Enlightenment, problems regarding the inequality of the social classes, and a lack of legislative
government. The Ideas brought from the Enlightenment became the most influential in sparking the
French Revolution, as it led to the other causes occurring.
The most influential cause of the French Revolution, were the ideas of the Enlightenment. The
enlightenment provided new thoughts and ideas to the people of France, allowing knowledge to be
broadened widely among French citizens, exposing the many flaws in the government, taxes, and the
social system. Specifically, the Enlightenment provided ideas focused on the cultural and
philosophical point of view among the populace. One main reason the revolution was caused by this
Enlightenment time period was because the ideas of ruling strictly prohibited the divine rights of kings
and queens, which France had at the time. Many renowned

Pharmaceutical Industry and Merck
Merck, being on one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world today, came from a meek
beginning and still encounters many problems today while trying to maintain a lead amongst its
competition. While being looked at as a research and development driven company, Merck now has to
go beyond R D to stay competitive in the pharmaceutical industry. Attracting talent to work for the
company has never been a problem for Merck, but the bigger question was whether or not this talent
would be able to keep Merck s profits at a maximum and keep developing drugs in the pipeline.
Through the late 80 s to early 90 s, Merck was able to boast profits and sales through biochemistry

Weaknesses:
Although Merck has encountered success, the organization has confronted weaknesses and
disappointments. One weakness that Merck has confronted is the duration of the drug development,
the value of the drug being evaluated and the length of the FDA application for drug approval. For
example, of the 5,000 molecules that are discovered, only couple of hundred are investigated, only one
enters into the market and only a third becomes a marketable success (Gilbert and Sarkar 3). A drug
development time may take on average over 15 years and expenditure R D total costs of about $880
million (Gilbert and Sarkar 2) (Exhibit 3). The length for and FDA application is at least 100,000
pages, which details the potential drug s usage, production, formula and labeling. Another weakness
with Merck is that too much power is given to scientists in decision making of candidate drugs. The
MRL was somewhat the main decision makers in organizing the drug development process including
final say on whether Phase V or post evaluation drug studies could be used. MRL, at one time, did not
show a lot of emphasis on Phase V and wanted to move on after Phase III. Figures like Per Wold
Olsen, President of Human Health Europe, had to fight to get approval and funding for Phase V
research. The third weakness is the inadequacies and lack of communication between marketing and
research. For

Analysis Of About A Boy By Nick Hornby
About a boy, written in 1998 by Nick Hornby explores the themes of mental health, 1990 s culture and
family through the friendship of two characters; Will, a thirty six year old bachelor and Marcus, A 12
year old outcast. In about a boy, the author has used a range of aesthetic devices that shape character
representation. An Aesthetic device is an element that authors intentionally use to create
intellectual/emotional responses in their novel. This analytical essay will explore how Nick Hornby
has used irony, point of view and stream of consciousness to shape character representation.
Irony is a technique that is used (through a character or plot development) to convey an intention or
attitude opposite to what is literally stated. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, the point of view allows readers to form a relationship and understanding of characters.
The point of view is instrumental in manipulating the readers understanding of the narrative as it can
allow or prevent characters from accessing the story objectively. The novel About a Boy by Nick
Hornby deals with the problems of two different people, both in age and personality. Even though they
are different in age, attitudes toward life and personality, they are similar in many different ways (e.g.
Both lonely with no friends). The first seven chapters of the book are mainly about Marcus, however,
Will; the thirty six year old bachelor is also introduced. Throughout the book, the author adjusts
perspectives by switching between characters in first person. This creates a personal relationship with
the reader to both of the characters and allows us to get an understanding of point of view and
motivations. One example of point of view in the novel occurs after Fiona s attempted suicide when a
narrator tells the reader about Marcus s thoughts and feelings; saying this was the scariest thing he had
ever seen by a million miles and he knew that he would have to think about it forever (P58) . Another
example of point of view in About a Boy is when a narrator tells the reader about Will s attitude
towards life and relationships; saying Great sex, a lot of ego massage, temporary parenthood without
tears and a guilt free Parting, what more

Themes In Noel Sturgeon s Environmentalism In Popular Culture
Open your eyes What if I told you that before you could even speak you would already have a
reputation, would you believe it? Noel Sturgeon, a professor of environmental studies at Washington
State University, fights against such injustices. In her 2009 novel Environmentalism in Popular
Culture: Gender, Sexuality, Race, and the Politics of the Natural, she utilizes rhetorical devices to
expose the corruption of popular advertising. The genre of this text gears towards her field of
expertise, classification using symbolic aspects of the environment. The time period that the text was
written is significant because it was the year that Obama was inaugurated, the the murder of Dr.
George Tiller, domestic abusive relationship of Chris Brown and Rihanna, and Sonia Sotomayor s
confirmation to the US Supreme court. These events demonstrate the opposite relationship of stepping
out of boundaries and confronting social injustices, but the death and beating in particular show the
rejection of homosexuality and women s rights. We are constantly moving back and forth on the
equality spectrum, and from a very young age we were fed subliminal messages of our certain roles in
society. Colonization, exploration, primitivism, racism, homophobia and sexism are presented to us
through popular advertising thus her audience is the entire nation. She uses our definition of what it
means to be natural and by doing so, people are given a reputation based on their race, gender or
sexuality.

Comparing Articles on the September 11th Attack in Two...
In this essay I will analyse and compare a broadsheet and a tabloid newspaper article. I hope to be able
to find differences and similarities in both articles. The Sun, which is the tabloid paper, is more of a
gossip paper than The Times, which is full of news and sophisticated vocabulary. The article I have
chosen is about the service for the September 11th attack on the Twin Towers. I will concentrate on
looking at the language used and the descriptive element of the scene. This is very important because
both articles will aim to achieve an emotional response and in order to accomplish that, the scene must
be described in great detail. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article tries to hit the reader emotionally in as many ways as possible. It does this by telling the
reader about families who lost loved ones and how they reacted. To put across the impact of
devastation, the writer writes about people who would not normally be associated with normal people.
The writer uses words like solemnly to describe the actions and feelings of famous people, such as Sir
Rudy Guiliani and Robert de Niro. Tabloids have always been known for the use of lots of pictures
and this article is no exception. The use of pictures helps to stress the grief of the people there. The
placement of the pictures is also important. There is an image of a policeman knelling and weeping
over a fallen colleague. This picture is to show that someone who keeps law and order and is not just a
tough man . But just like us and can be broken down to tears. A child kneeling and crying, probably
over the death of a parent, echoes this picture of the policeman. To get a big emotional response the

not all Blacks during the slavery time period were treated the same, those in Florida were not in the

Vladimir And Estragon In Waiting For Godot
The relationship between Vladimir and Estragon in Waiting for Godot. Why do they stay together,
despite frequent suggestions that they part? The dramatist and poet Samuel Beckett, born in 1906 in
Ireland, can definitely be addressed as one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century.
Samuel Beckett has been attributed the label of the last modernist as well as the first post modernist.
His plays are filled with dark humour and absurdities, Beckett s play Waiting for Godot 1, which he
composed between 1948 1949, is a good example of his minimalistic style and stage setting. Godot is
one of Beckett s most controversial plays and well known in the international literary world. The play

This statement perfectly summarizes the difficulty reviewers had trying to cope with its apparent
absence of content. The main characters in the play, Vladimir and Estragon, are waiting for Godot
throughout the entire play, however the mysterious Godot never shows. Nevertheless, Didi and Gogo
(their nick names for each other) decide to wait for this figure Godot even if they have to come back
for him tomorrow which is in essence the makeup of the main plot (Beckett 6). In spite of both
Vladimir and Estragon expressing several times the desire to leave, to stop waiting for Godot, they
arrive at exactly the same conclusion every time: they can t leave due to the simple fact that they are
waiting for Godot (Beckett 6). In this article I will explore the peculiar relationship that Vladimir and
Estragon have in the play, and why they have been together for over fifty years. Even though Vladimir
and Estragon frequently suggest to part they never do, since they give each other purpose and are
bound to one and other. Samuel Beckett explored existential and philosophical ideas in his work, in
Godot existentialism is present since it explains the complete existence of Vladimir and Estragon. The

Student Teacher Relationships And Student Academic Growth...
In recent years a discussion regarding education has increasingly emphasized teachers role in
promoting student academic growth through personalism. Phillippo explains personalism as, policies
that ask teachers to develop individual relationship with students at a presumed level for student
achievement (2012, p. 441). Urban school districts have promoted these policies by converting larges
schools into smaller schools. Research on student teacher relationships generally supports policies of
personalism (Phillippo, 2012, p. 441). Students who have a professional relationship with their
teachers tend to be more successful in school. This challenges us to consider how teachers practices
directly influence what and how students learn, and what can be done to support teachers
contributions.
Summary of The Study Phillippo conducted this qualitative research study over a time span of a year
and thirty four months. She wanted to investigate how students from non dominant groups responded
to teacher personalism. Data shows that policies of personalism do promote student teacher
relationships, however; tension arose when the participants felt that teacher personalism was
threatening their privacy or agency (Phillippo, 2012, p. 441). Culture and social experiences
contributed to the way students perceived personalism and it constrained the participants trust toward
their teachers.

The Maxim gun on the other hand was used to conquer parts of the world and show superiority over

When it came to weaponry Great Britain was always ahead of the game. Always trading old weapons
while having new weapons with them at all times. The most powerful weapon at that time was the
Maxim gun. The Maxim was invented by Hiram Maxim in 1883. Great Britain was one of the most
dominant countries who wanted Afric. Technology was what could explain their dominance. When
they took parts of Africa the Africans were unable to fight against them. That was because they could
not fight with arrows and a shotgun, while their opponents had a machine gun waiting for them. Great
Britain always had the best weapons. The Maxim was the ultimate weapon. It was a machine gun that
no one could stop.
Though the Maxim did what it was made to do, which was showing dominance and getting territory, it
only helped a specific group of people. Since it was a gun it was obviously used to kill people. The
only people in Africa at the time were Africans. The Maxim was only used for dominance and
claiming territory, because it looked like no other gun at that time. Not really used to help the
continent let alone help the world.
While both inventions helped people achieve their goals one helped more people than the other. The
Steam Engine as stated before helped many miners do their job and get a paycheck. It is also more
significant because it became another idea, and sparked new inventions. Those ideas being the
inventions of cars, trains, and planes. While the Maxim was able to accomplish

Homeless Minors
In the past couple of years, the number of homeless individuals have been on the rise in Nevada. In
this mass increase, the population mostly consists of homeless individuals under the age of eighteen.
These minors are mostly unaccompanied, with no adults to teach them right or wrong. Being homeless
and on the streets, it gives the minors less chances in life and it also influences them to act out
negatively in society. The number of homeless teens have been skyrocketing and the problem is that
with the amount we have now it might be hard to control in the future. In Clark County, there has been
a vast increase in the number of homeless individuals. The number of homeless people has increased

The homeless minors have no one to look up to as a role model and have limited amounts of
resources. This can result in the minors doing deviant actions such as stealing. In the past month, there
has been many cases of young adults and minors breaking into neighborhood houses and robbing
families. Around a month ago, there was a situation that I witnessed where this young teen was going
around a neighborhood stealing items from various houses. During that time, I was also notified that
these types of situations have been occurring a lot recently. Aside from this incident, a couple months
back a teen went into my aunt s shop and attempted to steal some of her belongings. This problem not
only affects society, but mainly the minors who are committing these crimes. Whether or not these
homeless individuals do the right thing or the wrong they still get punished for being homeless. All
they want to do is pass you along, so they can get on to their next problem. A lot of the time if you are
homeless they would arrest you for basically being homeless (Elko Daily Free Press). This can result
in the teens having negative influences throughout their most impressionable times in their life. Being
exposed to such environments at a young age will affect their ways as they grow older. The minors

Social Democrats And Neo Liberals
Both social democrats and neo liberals claim to support a free society. This essay will discuss how and
why their visions of freedom diverge. This essay will focus on the social vision of social democracy
and neo liberalism, as freedom is subject to this vision. The social vision involves the society and its
values. What kind of society does the ideology want and how do they want to achieve this kind of
society? This essay will discuss the social democratic vision of freedom, the neo liberal vision of
freedom and will then argue how and why their visions diverge.
As a hybrid ideology, social democracy took shape around the mid twentieth century, resulting from
the tendency among western socialist parties not only to adopt parliamentary strategies, but also to
revise their socialist goals. In particular, they abandoned the goal of abolishing capitalism and sought
instead to reform or humanize it. Being based on a compromise between the market and the state,
social democracy lacks a systematic underlying theory and is, arguably, inherently vague. This
revisionist socialism has been primarily concerned with social justice, a just or fair distribution of
wealth in society (Heywood 2012, pp. 125 129). In contrast with many liberals, social democrats
believe that freedom has financial and social preconditions. It is not only about securing negative
freedoms, but ensuring what is called positive freedom . Freedom must be legally ensured and
effectively guaranteed. Similarly

Ancient Societies Collapse Research Paper
Throughout history there have been an untold number of societal collapses; some have been studied
completely and others forgotten in history. As time passes and new innovations are created, so are new
paths for collapse. However, the downfalls of the ancient civilizations are also applicable in today s
society. With decades of archaeological and historical research, theories have arisen as to why these
societies collapsed and what humans of today can do to avoid a similar fate.
While many collapses are thought to have occurred from several factors compounding over many
years, most can be attributed to three main issues: the environment, war, and trade. Environmental

The most likely way that current society will collapse would be a large scale environmental change
that affects a majority of the Earth. In the most dramatic case, if a climate changing event such as a
volcanic eruption or a heat wave occurred, the effects would be catastrophic. If the event affected
enough of the planet, there would be mass starvation that would eventually lead to the downfall of
human civilization. Also, humans affecting the environment with global warming and using up natural
resources such as oil and trees will create an uninhabitable planet. If the environmental change only
affected a small region, other countries would provide aid and attempt to rebuild that society. If trade
were to disintegrate globally, many societies would collapse due to their dependence on imported
goods and the profit from exported items, similar to Pitcairn and Henderson. If trade from one country
stopped, it would not have as much of an effect seeing as all of the countries connected and another
trade system could be created. For example, if trade from a country that produces oil stops, many
countries would suffer without fuel for a short while until another trade route from a different country
began. Due to the economically interconnected nature of the world today, it is unlikely that a collapse
would happen due to shifting trade. Another main factor of collapse is war and societies ending due to
invasions. A modern day war could be taken far enough where entire cities are wiped out and
civilizations destroyed. For example, if the War on Terror is continued for long enough, countless
societies in West Asia could be demolished. Ultimately, any of the aforementioned changes could
cause a collapse, it merely depends on the magnitude and severity of the event, and which places are
afflicted. Other

Analysis of Fabulous Superlatives Concert
This may sound trite, but the concert as I saw it is best described by the name of the band, the
Fabulous Superlatives!!! On every level this was a concert I will remember for a long time.
The ArtsQuest venue was new to me and I was impressed with the ease of finding it, the free amble
parking, the friendly staff and the great sound and seating. It is a modern impressive structure built
around the old Bethlehem Steel Works. The ruins of the old plant are used as a visual backdrop to the
new and impressive entertainment complex. There are a couple of restaurants, and a movie theater
housed next to the concert venue. The food was very good, the serviced just great and I d would and

Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives took the stage with a thunderous explosion of applause
form the sold out audience. It was evident that many folks where their to see Marty as the primary
reason for coming that evening. His band is truly both fabulous and superlative. The line up is: Harry

Nursing jobs in Australia
In Australia, nurses are employed in either the private or public sector. Average work hours per week
is 35 hours. Registered nurses in the UK would not have a hard time adjusting to the work schedule,
because shifts are similar to the UK, which is between 8 and 12 hours. Nurses are eligible for holidays

Nursing jobs in Australia used to be open to almost all foreigners, but due to the recent changes in
Australian nursing registration criteria, the opportunity has become out of reach for nurses in certain
countries.
Nurses can t enter the Australian Nursing Register (AHPRA) if:
Their qualifications are below a bachelor degree level
Their qualifications were required from countries listed as unlikely to meet eligibility criteria
There are 56 unfortunate countries who made the list, including Switzerland, Germany, Saudi Arabia,
Japan, France, China and Brazil.
Nurses with such qualifications would likely fail the skills assessment needed to apply for an
Employer Sponsored Visa and/or a Skilled Migrant Visa. They are advised to upgrade their nursing
qualifications, or complete a nursing bridging program in Australia.
Visa requirements for a nursing job in Australia
Whether you are an expert in your field, or you need to acquire new skills while working, there is a

Ralph Waldo Emerson, Jon Krakauer, And Michael Donovan
Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Jon Krakauer, and Michael Donovan are four similar
writers. These four writers typically write about their individuality and depending on themselves. In
Michael Donovan s poem, Its All On Me , he talks about how everything is on him, and how he has to
handle everything. Emerson s short story, Self Reliance, talks about the conviction of a man s beliefs
at some point in his life and how he must deal with them. Civil Disobedience by Henry David Thoreau
is another short story about how government should play a smaller role in the decisions of the people.
Lastly, Jon Krakauer s Into the Wild, is about a man attempting to survive in the wild on his own.

The Athletic And Sporting Goods Manufacturing Industry
Business Description
The Athletic and Sporting Goods Manufacturing industry includes the playground equipment segment
which is the focus of this analysis. The playground equipment segment accounts for 9.5% of the entire
industry. The top two competitors of playground equipment in Illinois and Iowa are Landscape
Structures and Kompan. Landscape Structures headquarters is located in Delano, Minnesota and
Kompan s headquarters is located in Tietgenbyen , Denmark. Other major competitors include
GameTime, NuToys, and Playtime.
Trends in Exchange Rates
The trend in exchange rates affect the amount of money a company pays to import and export
products. Within the industry of playground equipment, the focus will be on imports due to the high
volume of playground manufacturers being located outside of the United States. When the exchange
rate fluctuates a company could spend less on exports, but more for imported products. With many of
the manufacturers of playground equipment being foreign based, the exchange rate directly affects a
company s purchasing power. The exchange rate that will be focused on is the United States (Dollar)
and Denmark (Danish Krone) due to one of the top competitors in the playground industry being
located in Denmark. Figure X will show the fluctuations that can occur within a year. Firms in this
industry will find that most of the products they produce or sell are affected by exchange rates since
either the raw material for those products or the

Iconography Of Virgin Mary
The iconography contained in this painting is religious for the most obvious reasons such as the
depiction of the Virgin Mary, baby Jesus, along with the angel holding the Virgin s crown. Also, the
capitals that are shown on the left include scenes from the Old Testament which highlight humanity
errors. Some of the errors that are depicted are Adam and Eve getting thrown out from the Garden of
Eden, the sacrifice of Caine and Abel, God receiving Abel s offering, along with other scenes. Another
reason why there is religious iconography can be seen between the positions of the individuals who
are being portrayed. For example, the chancellor appears to be kneeling down towards baby Jesus and
the Virgin Mary, on one side of the painting you have sacred figures and on the left side you have the
chancellor representing the public. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I saw the painting they really didn t stand out to much at all, my attention was more drawn with
the details on the floor leading my eyes to the background outside. In other words my eyes sort of
skipped the capitals on the left hand side. After I read what the capitals depicted I googled the image
to see if I could find a closer look into this part of the painting, which I did find and I was able to see
what they were depicting. Also, baby Jesus holding a clear globe along with a cross, I also had to
google the globe because I couldn t see it, I was only able to view the cross but I didn t think about the
globe representing Jesus as the creator of the world which makes sense after I read

  • 2. Veganism and a Sustainable Lifestyle Essay Albert Schweitzer, French philosopher, physician, and musician, said until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace. This is a tacit statement, humanity will not be able to find peace until it adopts a more sustainable lifestyle, and it has been proven time and time again, that veganism is that lifestyle. Becoming vegan is a powerful experience, and one feels rejuvenated, both morally and physically, after acclimating to the diet, and, although the opposition claims that veganism is either detrimental or useless, the diet is, in fact, beneficial to the environment, to animals, and the individuals who follow the lifestyle. Meat production is wasteful, expensive, and harmful to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3). This waste is not effectively disposed, and has a very negative impact on the environment surrounding the plant (para. 4). The animals themselves aren t the only ones producing pollutants, the chemical fertilizers and pesticides used in factory farms have turned agriculture into a leading source of water pollution, (para. 8). L. Baroni, of the Department of Neurorehabilitation at Villa Salus Hospital, et al., concluded that a diet higher in animal products is more detrimental to the environment than one absent of them (282). This is expounded upon by a report by the EPA that estimated that animal agriculture has polluted over 35,000 miles of American river (Sustainable Table para. 20). The Philippines has been impacted positively, however they should still work on business freedom. Bangladesh has been known to have had incidents where workers have lost lives due to the poor labor conditions they were working upon. Workers are told to work long shifts every day, receiving very little pay for the work that they did. In the article titled Factory Collapses in Bangladesh , by The Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights, It states how the standard shift for a worker is 13 14 ½ hours. This adds up to 90 100 hours/week, with only 2 days off in the entire month. The money that the workers received ranged from 12 22 cents/hour, depending on the age of the worker. This means that Globalization caused the factories to move to countries like Bangladesh to have more workers working for longer periods of time and pay them as little money as possible. So many people came to California that the state became the most diverse state in the United States. Although there were positive attributes to the Gold Rush, the Gold Rush mostly had a negative effect on America because of the harsh journey and the ruined landscape. To begin, the rough journey to migrate west certainly negatively affected the United States of America. While the american citizens were traveling to the west for gold, an extreme cholera outbreak developed due to the unsanitary conditions that the migrants had to deal with (Gillon 65). A Native American described the scene as a solid mass of wagons and men digging graves on each side of the river; men dying in their wagons, hallooing and crying and cramping from cholera, women screaming and hallooing and praying (Gillon 65). • 13. Benefits Of Good Oral Hygiene Essay Introduction The advantages of good oral hygiene can help prevent existing and prevalent dental problems, primarily plaque and calculus, which are the major causes of caries (cavities) and tooth decay. Dental caries are not only found in the adolescent population, but are also found in adults, due to gums receding throughout the aging process. This exposes the roots of teeth to the different types of bacteria that cause plaque and tooth decay. To be sure, seniors with poor health are no exception to dental caries and are often the most affected due to low fluoride use and/or poor oral care during adolescence. However, while dental caries and tooth decay are the most prominent topics of oral health, there is also a close connection association between poor dental care and overall health. Poor oral health can cause severe consequences in people with cardiovascular disease (CHD) due to the bacteria and periodontal diseases found in gums that enter the bloodstream and thus, into the heart, causing atherosclerosis. Another outcome of poor dental care is the increased risk of bacteria from gingivitis, called spirochetes, entering the brain through the bloodstream. This can eventually lead to the progression of Alzheimer s disease or dementia. This free will is a gift, so we can decide the way to live. Still, we should keep in mind that the free will is a responsibility and a gift. The choices people make are a part of the free will and both are compatible. Thus, the idea of free has been argued by numerous philosophers. Therefore, my explanation will base on free will and the consequences of the choice. When you are given the ability to decide on your own, it is free will. For instance, a person was given a personal choice to make and he said to his friend; Do not make me think; tell me what to do. As children get older, they become increasingly more aware of social judgments of acceptable behavior. Moral development is the process that allows children to comprehend, incorporate, and apply moral and ethical values to the behaviors they enact in everyday life (3). Because there is evidence that supports a relationship between individuals genetic makeup and their aggressive behaviors, psychological development is thought to begin in the womb. It is in the womb where the child receives all the genes necessary for future development. There are factors that influence prenatal development of genes in the womb such as poor maternal nutrition, exposure to surrounding environmental toxins, or the ingestion of alcohol by future mothers. These factors along with rapid growth of the brain during the second half of pregnancy puts fetuses at risk for having underdeveloped brains which affect the children s future reasoning abilities (3). However, all children begin life as amoral beings in the state of infancy because most of their behavior is being involuntarily controlled by the subcortical region of the brain. The point of view is instrumental in manipulating the readers understanding of the narrative as it can allow or prevent characters from accessing the story objectively. The novel About a Boy by Nick Hornby deals with the problems of two different people, both in age and personality. Even though they are different in age, attitudes toward life and personality, they are similar in many different ways (e.g. Both lonely with no friends). The first seven chapters of the book are mainly about Marcus, however, Will; the thirty six year old bachelor is also introduced. Throughout the book, the author adjusts perspectives by switching between characters in first person. This creates a personal relationship with the reader to both of the characters and allows us to get an understanding of point of view and motivations. One example of point of view in the novel occurs after Fiona s attempted suicide when a narrator tells the reader about Marcus s thoughts and feelings; saying this was the scariest thing he had ever seen by a million miles and he knew that he would have to think about it forever (P58) . Another example of point of view in About a Boy is when a narrator tells the reader about Will s attitude towards life and relationships; saying Great sex, a lot of ego massage, temporary parenthood without tears and a guilt free Parting, what more ... • 26. Themes In Noel Sturgeon s Environmentalism In Popular Culture Open your eyes What if I told you that before you could even speak you would already have a reputation, would you believe it? Noel Sturgeon, a professor of environmental studies at Washington State University, fights against such injustices. In her 2009 novel Environmentalism in Popular Culture: Gender, Sexuality, Race, and the Politics of the Natural, she utilizes rhetorical devices to expose the corruption of popular advertising. The genre of this text gears towards her field of expertise, classification using symbolic aspects of the environment. The time period that the text was written is significant because it was the year that Obama was inaugurated, the the murder of Dr. George Tiller, domestic abusive relationship of Chris Brown and Rihanna, and Sonia Sotomayor s confirmation to the US Supreme court. These events demonstrate the opposite relationship of stepping out of boundaries and confronting social injustices, but the death and beating in particular show the rejection of homosexuality and women s rights. We are constantly moving back and forth on the equality spectrum, and from a very young age we were fed subliminal messages of our certain roles in society. Colonization, exploration, primitivism, racism, homophobia and sexism are presented to us through popular advertising thus her audience is the entire nation. She uses our definition of what it means to be natural and by doing so, people are given a reputation based on their race, gender or sexuality. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I hope to be able to find differences and similarities in both articles. The Sun, which is the tabloid paper, is more of a gossip paper than The Times, which is full of news and sophisticated vocabulary. The article I have chosen is about the service for the September 11th attack on the Twin Towers. I will concentrate on looking at the language used and the descriptive element of the scene. This is very important because both articles will aim to achieve an emotional response and in order to accomplish that, the scene must be described in great detail. ... The dramatist and poet Samuel Beckett, born in 1906 in Ireland, can definitely be addressed as one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century. Samuel Beckett has been attributed the label of the last modernist as well as the first post modernist. His plays are filled with dark humour and absurdities, Beckett s play Waiting for Godot 1, which he composed between 1948 1949, is a good example of his minimalistic style and stage setting. In spite of both Vladimir and Estragon expressing several times the desire to leave, to stop waiting for Godot, they arrive at exactly the same conclusion every time: they can t leave due to the simple fact that they are waiting for Godot (Beckett 6). • 33. Student Teacher Relationships And Student Academic Growth... In recent years a discussion regarding education has increasingly emphasized teachers role in promoting student academic growth through personalism. Phillippo explains personalism as, policies that ask teachers to develop individual relationship with students at a presumed level for student achievement (2012, p. 441). Urban school districts have promoted these policies by converting larges schools into smaller schools. Research on student teacher relationships generally supports policies of personalism (Phillippo, 2012, p. 441). Students who have a professional relationship with their teachers tend to be more successful in school. This challenges us to consider how teachers practices directly influence what and how students learn, and what can be done to support teachers contributions. Summary of The Study Phillippo conducted this qualitative research study over a time span of a year and thirty four months. She wanted to investigate how students from non dominant groups responded to teacher personalism. Data shows that policies of personalism do promote student teacher relationships, however; tension arose when the participants felt that teacher personalism was threatening their privacy or agency (Phillippo, 2012, p. 441). Technology was what could explain their dominance. When they took parts of Africa the Africans were unable to fight against them. That was because they could not fight with arrows and a shotgun, while their opponents had a machine gun waiting for them. Great Britain always had the best weapons. The Maxim was the ultimate weapon. It was a machine gun that no one could stop. This essay will focus on the social vision of social democracy and neo liberalism, as freedom is subject to this vision. The social vision involves the society and its values. What kind of society does the ideology want and how do they want to achieve this kind of society? This essay will discuss the social democratic vision of freedom, the neo liberal vision of freedom and will then argue how and why their visions diverge. As a hybrid ideology, social democracy took shape around the mid twentieth century, resulting from the tendency among western socialist parties not only to adopt parliamentary strategies, but also to revise their socialist goals. In particular, they abandoned the goal of abolishing capitalism and sought instead to reform or humanize it. Being based on a compromise between the market and the state, social democracy lacks a systematic underlying theory and is, arguably, inherently vague. This revisionist socialism has been primarily concerned with social justice, a just or fair distribution of wealth in society (Heywood 2012, pp. 125 129). In contrast with many liberals, social democrats believe that freedom has financial and social preconditions. It is not only about securing negative freedoms, but ensuring what is called positive freedom . Freedom must be legally ensured and effectively guaranteed. Similarly ... As time passes and new innovations are created, so are new paths for collapse. However, the downfalls of the ancient civilizations are also applicable in today s society. With decades of archaeological and historical research, theories have arisen as to why these societies collapsed and what humans of today can do to avoid a similar fate. While many collapses are thought to have occurred from several factors compounding over many years, most can be attributed to three main issues: the environment, war, and trade. Environmental changes seem to have the quickest and most drastic affect on civilizations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most likely way that current society will collapse would be a large scale environmental change that affects a majority of the Earth. In the most dramatic case, if a climate changing event such as a volcanic eruption or a heat wave occurred, the effects would be catastrophic. If the event affected enough of the planet, there would be mass starvation that would eventually lead to the downfall of human civilization. Also, humans affecting the environment with global warming and using up natural resources such as oil and trees will create an uninhabitable planet. If the environmental change only affected a small region, other countries would provide aid and attempt to rebuild that society. If trade were to disintegrate globally, many societies would collapse due to their dependence on imported goods and the profit from exported items, similar to Pitcairn and Henderson. If trade from one country stopped, it would not have as much of an effect seeing as all of the countries connected and another trade system could be created. For example, if trade from a country that produces oil stops, many countries would suffer without fuel for a short while until another trade route from a different country began. Due to the economically interconnected nature of the world today, it is unlikely that a collapse would happen due to shifting trade. Another main factor of collapse is war and societies ending due to invasions. A modern day war could be taken far enough where entire cities are wiped out and civilizations destroyed. For example, if the War on Terror is continued for long enough, countless societies in West Asia could be demolished. Ultimately, any of the aforementioned changes could cause a collapse, it merely depends on the magnitude and severity of the event, and which places are afflicted. Other ...
