The Importance Of Water Scarcity In Egypt
Air, food, water, they are the keys of people to survive, it is no doubt that people can t survive
without anyone of these, thus, water is one of crucial thing that people need. In recent year,
water sustainability become a popular topic because water scarcity is quite serious around the
world, about 1.2 billion people or nearly 20% of the world s population face physical scarcity,
another 25% of population live in a country which lack of necessary equipment to get water from
river or lake (United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs 2014) пјЊand water
sustainability is to make sure people have clean water to use in future. Egypt face a water problem,
bad location and inefficient water use, but government have some solutions like use water more
efficient and reduce waste. Israel used to be a water scarcity country, but now, this problem has
been solved by new technology.
Egypt is one of most water stressed country in the world. Two reasons which directly leads to
water scarcity in Egypt. One of main reason is location, Egypt is located in Africa, and surrounded
by Israel, Libya, Sudan and Red Sea, in addition, most areas of Egypt are deserts, these deserts
cause hot and dry climate (Wolvetang 2015). Inefficient irrigation also leads to water scarcity in
Egypt. Because almost 80 mm of rainfall per year, and only 6% of land is suitable for agriculture
in Egypt, which leads to wasteful irrigation techniques such as flood irrigation, this system losing 3

The Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms
School uniforms have both negative and positive feedback. Some view it as promoting
conformity, or taking away a student s individuality. It is always a fear to both parents and
students to have the liberties promised to them striped away just because of their age or for the
sake of being educated. This is why many families took these cases to court on the behalf of the
minor in their custody. Others tend to view it as a way to make things better for students. They
want to enforce that equality but at the same time embrace differences. They want uniforms to
decrease judgment and discrimination among students. They want student to behave according to
societies standards. They don t want any malice or jealousy due to a few differences. They want the
uniform to keep things orderly.
The School Board s purpose for enacting the uniform policy is to increase test scores and reduce
disciplinary problems throughout the school system, the appeals court wrote in Canady. This
purpose is in no way related to the suppression of student speech. (findlaw/us 5th circuit) The school
system won and it was decide that the uniform policy was not a violation of the student s first or
fourteenth amendment rights. Also it was brought up that the uniforms actually help with behavior
and test scores.
Uniforms are becoming increasingly more popular in the states due to that specific reason.
Uniforms which were 1st seen in private schools here in the US have public schools readily
following the trend. The dress codes now enforced by majority schools believe it restricts students
use of clothing as an element of contemporary communicative intake. It is therefore used as a
precaution to keep gang violence, and crime rate down.
The implementation of uniforms was to increase student success, and deter bad behavior. Their has
yet to be a link that suggest a substantial connection between the school uniform policies and
student achievement. The results do not particularly deny or back either side of the uniform
argument. The results do nonetheless strongly intimate that uniforms are not the solution to all of
American education s ills. Though this was the initial reason to have students switch to uniforms

SING SING SING
I used to always go over to my grandparent s house and watch my grandfather go crazy over this
Jazz music. He explained to me that it wasn t Jazz unless it swung like the greats. I listened to a
song Sing Sing Sing the other day from one of my Jazz collections that my grandpa gave to me
and realized that their was so much energy and pizzazz in this music. He explained to me that it
was all put together by a guy named Benny, and I understood why.
Benny Goodman, born Benjamin David in 1909, one of twelve children, grew up in a Chicago
ghetto with his family, who fled Russian anti Semitism. Encouraged by his father, an immigrant
tailor, to learn a musical instrument, Goodman took up the clarinet at a young ... Show more content

In Los Angeles, the band created a sensation, essentially starting the swing era. In fact, Goodman
became known as the King of Swing (Collier, 1989).
Swing was the dominant idiom of the 1930s and much of the 1940s. Basically, it was a form of
dance music played by a large band, and was the medium through which most white Americans first
heard Jazz (Schuller,1989). Although the decade 1935 45 was called the Swing Era, swing
arrangements had been played by large bands beginning in the 1920s. Bandleader arrangers Fletcher
Henderson, Duke Ellington, and, later, Count Basie, worked out arrangements for their 10 to 12
piece bands, which, unlike traditional jazz bands, were divided into instrumental sections.
The rhythm section (piano, guitar, bass, and drums) maintained a steady, even beat; the saxophone
and brass sections countered each other with harmonized riffs and repeated figures, with section
leaders improvising over this background (Stewart, 1979).
Utilized almost exclusively for dancing, the music of the big bands borrowed heavily from the
techniques introduced by Henderson. Among the most popular bands were those led by Goodman,
Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, the Dorsey brothers, and Artie Shaw. As a counterpart of the highly
arranged orchestrations of these New York based bands, a Kansas City swing style developed
under the influence of Count Basie and Bennie Moten that emphasized a blues

Truman Capote s The Last To See Them Alive
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the term fiction is defined as written stories about
people and events that are not real. Within this genre, there are six main subgenres romance,
mystery, western, historical, horror, and science fiction (Vaughn). These subgenres can help
define the author s purpose of particular pieces of literature. This is true for the first vignette of
Truman Capote s famous book In Cold Blood, titled The Last to See Them Alive . The writing in
this section shows how country living is in Holcomb, Kansas while telling the story of the killers,
Dick and Perry, on their way to murder the lovable Clutters. The title of this book and vignette
make it seem as if Capote s purpose was to write a mystery novel. However, this is proven wrong
almost immediately after he describes the vivid setting of Holcomb. He reveals the identity of the
murderers, leaving no guessing for the reader as to who committed the horrific crime. In other
words, his purpose is not to write a mystery novel, but to describe in detail a cryptic murder in
small town Holcomb, Kansas. On top of that, this novel was far from fiction. Capote immersed
himself into this novel, getting all the facts and details to stay true to the Clutter family while
revealing the mindset and motivations of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Capote was writing the book, he befriended the murderers, although favoring Perry over Dick
(Plimpton). Because of this, Perry and Dick are depicted as humans even after committing the
gruesome murders of the Clutter family. Giving murderers humanistic qualities is not done often.
This is exposed almost immediately when Capote asserts, ...four shotgun blasts that, all told, ended
six human lives (5). When describing how many victims there are in a tragic event, the murderers
are usually left out of the death count. However, since Capote had a personal connection with these
two men, he gifts them with humanistic

What Is Standardized Work
Standardized work
Need for a system in place to solve the problem of occurrence.
1.The basic requirement for a successful plant operation is to have a system in place to solve
problems as and when it arises.
2.Find the right people to lead this system.
How long has a skipper got to react if he spots a problem? And How long has a manager got to
react if a quality problem arises?
The reaction time on any problem by Supervisor will be quicker than the plant manager who has
to wait for a report to analyze the situation. The Supervisor / Operators need to have a process for
correcting problems as and when they arise. It is how a person does it and the results obtained
which matters.

Aggressive Action Vs Nonviolence
Back before the Civil War, people wanted to know which way is better to free slaves, aggression
action or the nonviolence way. The question is, should people use a more aggressive action or
should people be nonviolent in their actions? People might disagree with using peaceful tactics
because they believe that slave owners deserve what has come to them for decades. The people
should go in a more nonviolence way because if they kill the slave owners then they will just be
dropping down to their level and revenge is never a good thing. Peace should not equal war. Why
do people think if someone wants peace they have to go to war first? War just makes it worst. A

As soon people start seeing the real meaning of the bible, violence, and harm to another person
will soon come to an end. A quote from William Whipper s speech, Non Resistance to Offensive
Aggression, a just and necessary war or physical self defense goes against the letter and spirit of
the Bible. Any harm to another person is going against the bible, even if it is self defense. Being
violent is the wrong way to go and it is an attack on Christianity. By threatening and making slave
states afraid, they will free slaves because slave owners would overwhelm with fear. A quote from
Henry Highland Garnet s speech, Call to Rebellion, to slaves in the United States, As a result of
Vesey s threatening plan, the slave states seriously considered freeing the slaves. If slave owners
fear that the slaves and people who are against slavery might do something, then they might
consider on freeing the slaves. Even though this almost worked, threatening to do harm is wrong
and using a more nonviolent way is better, so no war starts. If both sides fight it out, it is going
to be in complete chaos. To be free, the slaves and the people who are against slavery need to use
peaceful tactics and nonviolence. If the slaves and people who are against slavery fight and use
violence a lot of innocent people are going to die and that is not fair. Peace is being kind to one
another and talking it out not war and

Clutter and how he believes that the social life of a religious family is rooted in the church. This
quote adds a lot to the book because it introduces the reader into Mr. Clutter s beliefs and how he
thinks that people should act, especially if they are religious. He thinks that they should not
drink, at all in their whole lives. He does not believe that having beliefs like this will shrink your
social circle, he thinks that it will show who to actually value and be friends with to get a
beneficial friendship out of it. This quote stood out to me because of how determined Mr. Clutter
is about his beliefs, he is very strict and loves the church and everything that goes along with that.
This quote helps show Mr. Clutter s love for church and following God and so that is probably
why people were so worried when they did not show up for church on the Sunday morning after
they were murdered. It reveals that the Clutters are church based and they love to serve

Compare And Contrast Healthcare And Us Healthcare
How is the US health care system both similar to and different from the health care systems of
Britain, Tokyo, Germany, Taiwan, and Switzerland? The US health care system has a
considerable amount of differences when compared to these countries. British health care
consists of government owned hospitals, no medical bills for citizens due to being entirely tax
paid, no medical bankruptcy, and utilization of gatekeepers to schedule appointments with
doctors. In the Japanese health care system, social insurance is employed requiring everyone to
have to have a plan, there are no scheduled appointments walk ins only, fixed prices for
procedures are decided for all hospitals by a yearly review board, and doctors don t get paid near
as much as US doctors. Some of the similarities between the systems when comparing to the US

happy with the compensation, despite making less than US doctors, but some do say they see far

Essay On Confucianism
The three main philosophies of China helped shape early Chinese civilization; Mandate of Heaven,
Confucianism, and Legalism. The Mandate of Heaven was a belief that the Emperor was
sufficiently virtuous to rule. This explained the legitimacy of rulers. Confucianism was a
philosophy created by Confucius, hoping it would lead to a more stable state in the society. As a
philosophy believed longest, Confucianismprovided basic foundation for moral, social, and politic

Lennie and George have an unconventional relationship which prevents them from being
lonely. George and Lennie converse about their relationship, Guys like us, are the loneliest guys
in the world...But not us! An why? Because... because I got you to look after me and you got me
to look after you and that s why! (Steinbeck 14). Lennie and George have each other, and their
unconventional relationship prevents them from becoming lonely. The italics used in the quote
give the characters voices a tone that seems like it should be read like a song. The indirect
characterization of speech and the way that Steinbeck displays the speech, with italics, it seems
as though Lennie is giddy with excitement, when dreaming about their life. Because the readers
have concluded that Lennie has a childish nature, they can infer how Lennie would be saying
this, and therefore develop his childish, naive character. Likewise, when Lennie and George
compare themselves to the society by saying, But not us! its direct characterization which shows
their us against the world type of relationship. Additionally, despite Curley s wife s place in a
conventional relationship, she confesses her loneliness to Lennie. She confides in Lennie and
tells him how her and Curley s relationship evolved, So I married Curley. Met him out to the
Riverside Dance Palace that same night...I ain t told this to nobody before... I don like Curley.
He ain t a nice fella (Steinbeck 88 89). Curley s wife settled for him, and now she can t get out of
it, because she s stuck. Steinbeck s use of italics for the word like with a negative connotation,
stresses the dislike that she has towards her husband, as well as how awful a situation she s in.

Decline Of Crime Rates In Canada
Throughout the years, crime rates in Canada s and the United States major cities have decreased
drastically. Regardless of the many factors that lead to increasing crime rates, such as
unemployment, or bad economic circumstances. This essay will examine the many factors leading
to the exponential decline of crimerates in North America. This essay will demonstrate how
unemployment and economic hardship does not always lead to higher crime rates, how the
growing increase of new technology aided in the decrease in crime rates, and the result of
government funded programs helping to reduce crime rate. These factors should be discussed
because it illustrates the progress of the judicial system and federal government throughout the
years and it shows that people most vulnerable to committing crimes may not always commit crime.
Similarly, it shows that economic factors leading to crime in the past are not always the case due to
positive behavioral changes throughout the years.
The general themes of the articles are based on economic factors, technology, the justice system
and people of certain age groups that are most likely to commit crimes, and how they all contribute
to the major decline in crime rates over the years. It is also stating the factors related to the rise in
crime and examining how they exponentially decreased as the world became more modernized. The

The Significance of Death and Sex to William Shakespeare
The Significance of Death and Sex to William Shakespeare
In this essay, I will consider Death and Sin in Shakespearean drama and I would like to look at
three of Shakespeare s tragic plays: Hamlet , Othello and King Lear .
Shakespeare uses many themes in all his play that attract audiences throughout history. The things
he wrote about are as relevant now as they were in his time. Death and Sin were issues that are
always around. In his plays, Shakespeare could comment on these things and make audiences see
things that they could not before.
In Hamlet, we can see clear examples of Death and Sin as significant to Shakespearean drama.

Religion in the 16th Century was still a prominent issue. Religion had changed from Catholicism to

Reproduction In Psychology
The field of personality psychology is a very unique one as it tries to understand and describe the
individual human being as a complex whole. It would seem easy to describe one personality by
simply identifying one personal traits or behaviors but one cannot explain individuality without
comparing it against other living organisms. Mc Adams (2009) states that the study of personality
psychologyrequires that one attempts to construct a scientifically credible account of people
psychological differences and search for biological and socio cultural factors that explain these
differences and commonalities. In order for us to understand these differences we need to start at
the core of human nature; at its origins.

Sexual desires play a great role in understanding an individual personality. Men in their nature are
attracted by power and wealth and can be aggressive in their approach in attaining both. They
approach sexual reproduction in a much different way to their female counterparts. Men tend to
be more aggressive and promiscuous in their approach as they tend to have many sexual partners
as they see the advantage of impregnating as many women as possible. This is seen as successful
method of ensuring that their genes are passed down to the next generation. They tend to seek
out women with a higher sexual reproduction, women who will be able to bear them strong
healthy children able to continue the reproduction process. Women on the other hand are
choosier in their selection of mating partners. They invest most of their time in finding the right
type of partner who can provide financial security and help protect and raise their offspring. If we
are to take both analogies into a broader prospective we can see these play out in both our
modern days and history. Take for instance monarchs or royal families. There is a strict procedure
in the selection of a future prince or princess. Because of royalty they have to select their partners

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Virtues
Virtues he tells us are like diverse judgments of excellence or admirableness and you cannot
reduce to a single principle explanation of what it is excellent. He makes a comparison X seems
excellent, but why? Because X has characteristics of A, B, and C which are excellent. He goes on
to tell us that he naturally begins to think why are they excellent and what is excellent about them.
He says most people will reflect on this and will come up with different reasons and it can just
keep going on there might not be a stopping point. He talks about each step taking us further from
our explanation why they are good or can even weaken why we think it is excellent. He states that
this process agrees with structural virtues.
He speaks to us that a particular person s moral character is a big discussion of their particular
traits. He says that if we think courage, generosity and justice are virtues and we need to think
about other things that are equal and that is more excellent. He compares courageous with cowardly
and generous with stingy and kind with unjust ways. He tells us that his book involves much
reflection about traits traditionally regarded as virtues.
He explains to us that a person must not only have a number of excellent traits but one must have
them all put together as a whole. He compares a soldier who is fighting for an unjust cause. He is
showing courage by fighting but is fighting for an unjust cause showing virtue. This is why he

This term, curriculum, can be as simple as a unit plan for a specific subject or as complex as

curriculum is developed, how decisions are made on who teaches what, and how curriculum is

conducts focus groups with the goal of improving existing frameworks. The IQC then creates the
Curriculum Framework and Evaluation Criteria Committee (CFCC) where half the members must
be classroom teachers. The CFCC meets in a forum open to the public. They then create a draft
framework. The draft is made public for 60 days where anyone in the community that is interested
can comment on it. After the 60 day period, the SBE holds a public hearing to formally adopt the
framework. The criteria developed in the framework are used to select instructional materials for
schools. ( Curriculum Frameworks Adoption Process CalEdFacts ) From here districts choose how
the curriculum is implemented in their schools.
Throughout the history of education, many curriculum frameworks have followed the one size fits
all formula. This model makes schools more like a factory where students sit in class, listen to the
teachers lecture, memorize and regurgitate facts, pass a test, and move on if they are able to fit
into that mold. If they don t they fail. We know, based on Gardner s theory of multiple intelligences
that people learn and are intelligent in different ways so why would we think that teaching
everyone the same thing at the same time in the same way would work? In the most current

One Out Of Many By V. Naipaul
The word culture means way of life of the people, thus the society, the ideas, customs, and social
behavior of a group of people that differentiates them from another group of people. It is the overall
attitude, customs and beliefs that distinguishes one culture from another. Culture is something that
is actually transferred from one generation to another not through genes but through language,
material objects, rituals that we daily perform, through institutions and through art and drama. For
example greeting guests by kissing both cheeks with hugs and serving Arabian tea with dates is in
Arab culture. In this essay I will be discussing about cultural encounters that have been shown in the
literary works and specifically throwing light upon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rulers That Followed the Prince by Machiavelli
NiccolГІ Machiavelli suggested in The Prince that a ruler should behave as both a fox and a
lion, being both loved and feared. There are clever rulers who were strategic, courageous rulers
who were effective, and successful rulers who possessed both qualities. Elizabeth I of England and
Henery IV of France were two great rulers from Europe that were able to personify Machiavelli s
advice. Elizabeth I of Englandwas able to act as a fox by preventing England from being torn apart
over matters of religion. By repealing The Catholic Legislation of Mary Tudor s reign, she was
able to make the New Act of Supremacy which dsignated her as the supreme govenor of spritual

Elizabeth showed much leadership and strength in defeating the Spanish. She heeded Machiavelli

Henry IV of France was able to act as a fox by evaluating what mattered more to him. When Henry
converted to Catholosism out of being a Hugenot during the Saint Bartholomew s Day
Massacre, it was clear that he valued his own life over religion. Even when he coverted back to
Calvinism afterwards, he soon relized his valued of being in power over religion would cause
him to convert, once again, back into Catholism. Paris is worth a Mass, he said as he gave into
the Roman Catholic Church for the leadership of France. This value of state over religion made
him a politique, believing that no religious truth was worth the ravages of cicil war. He kept
France from futher civil war by issuing the Edict of Nantes which acknowledged Catholicism as

recognize that tolerance can help establish peace in his nation and also to convert to Cathalosism
because of their bigger population in France. Along with being able to weigh out which decisions
would help maintain a peaceful France, he was also able to roll in more power for himself.

Macbeth Feminist Play Analysis
Generally, Macbeth is thought of as Shakespeare s most feminist play. With a supposedly
powerful female character and an inversion of gender roles, it is easy to see how this idea came
into being. However, it is totally wrong. Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, is a play about
an ambitious nobleman who would go to any measure to become king and retain that position after
receiving a prophecy from three witches. At first, he is unwilling to resort to violence to become
king but his wife, Lady Macbeth, manipulates him into doing so. Once the first murder is
complete, he has found a thirst for killing and continues to kill various people until he is
eventually killed and the rightful king takes his place. The claims of this being a feminist play
stem from Lady Macbeth s character and her relationship with Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is violent
and evil, while Macbeth is originally too kind, showing a gender rolereversal. Even so, there are
many problematic aspects of Macbeth that completely negate the few progressive components in
Shakespeare s writing. Macbeth is a misogynist play because it promotes strict genderroles, gender
non conforming women are demonized and seen as responsible for men s problems, and by the
second half of the play, any innovative gender role reversals are themselves reversed.
To begin with, Macbeth promotes very strict gender roles, with women and femininity being
associated with fear and weakness, and men and manliness being associated with power

Well, the sitting on 4 acres the hospital encompasses Ronald Regan UCLA Medical center,
Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA and Mattel Children s Hospital
UCLA. Some key features I found extremely helpful is their organization. Every floor of Ronald
Reagan UCLA Medical Center is devoted to a specific specialty and equipped with all of the
essential support equipment and supplies. Every floor has its own satellite pharmacy, dialysis
storage, respiratory therapy workrooms, and resident doctor sleep rooms. Additionally; each
patient room has the ability to convert into an intensive care unit (ICU) to allow for the
continuous care of a critically ill patient in one room. This makes caring for patients extremely
easy as everything they need is made available to them at the exact moment of a potential
emergency. (Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center, 2013)
One other element that seems to help with its rating is their Healing by design architectural

devises this meaning to Daisy. Gatsby then falls more deeply in love with his idea of her, rather

Daisy; he is implicated in their kind of corruption too, and his dreams is proved hollow not only
by the inadequacy of the actual correlative that is, Daisy to the hunger of his aspiring
imagination, but also by the means he uses to build up the gaudy fabric of his vision. (Harvey)
Harvey explains that Gatsby has imagined this character he aspires to become, he has invested
himself in this character and love for Daisy that was in actuality just a figment of his
imagination. There is no question doubting Gatsby fondness for Daisy, from the day they met to
his bleak death. After denied into Daisy s artificial world he left, feeling that if he had searched

for Daisy is so great, but it cannot break the disparity between the two. Gatsby will always be

Controversy Over the United States Providing Developmental...
Throughout history and present day times, many countries such as Germany, France, and Canada
have provided assistance and aid to underdeveloped countries to help alleviate poverty. The United
States itself issues aid to developing countries which include Israel, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and
Ethiopia; this has been an American practice since 1947 after World War II. During the time period
from 1947 to 1949 the United States, under the Marshall Plan, provided both financial and technical
assistance to Europe and Asia after the war. As a result, Europe was rebuilt both politically and
economically. Today the United States continues to provide aidto underdeveloped countries, helping
them evolve and strengthen their economy. Many Americans believe that America is doing the
right thing in issuing aid, while others hold the opinion that the United States should not issue
aid, and that the issue of money to developing countries needs to stop. On one side of the issue
the supporters of developmental aid believe that the United States is doing more than a great job
by offering economic assistance to countries that need help to develop. These individuals are
aware of the unfortunate poverty levels in many countries abroad. They believe that it is the duty
of the American people to help reduce the poverty levels in countries in which people live with
less than a dollar a day. In fact, some supporters believe that the U.S. is not offering enough support
to the poorer countries. Many have

Ethos And Target Audience Analysis Of Nike s The Switch
The Switch Audience Analysis
The way humans are persuaded is fascinating. The ability to successfully persuade someone in
today s world is one of the most obtainable and important assets to have as a person. Cultures have
been swallowed by the concept of advertisement. Everyday humans are affected by and make
decisions because of persuasion, yet persuasion can be broken down into three simple categories:
ethos, pathos and logos. If done well, advertisers can use these strategies to their advantage to
persuade potential customers. Advertisements have one objective: to sell a product or an idea. As
times have changed, so have the contents of ads. Companies and corporations spend billions of
dollars in hopes to successfully persuade their audience. The Switch by Nike efficiently uses ethos
and pathos within their ad to persuade the viewer to buy their product.
Ethos Target Audience
The Switch ad begins by using ethos. Cristiano Ronaldo s presence in the ad establishes the
credibility of Nike as a brand. Cristiano Ronaldo is considered by most to be one of the greatest
players currently playing. By utilizing a player of this caliber in their ad, Nike can appeal to its
potential buyers. Even if the consumer dislikes the player for whatever reason, credibility is still
established out of respect for Ronaldo s sheer talent as a professional soccer player. While most
people are just focused on Ronaldo and the storyline itself so much is happening behind the scenes.

This week may be the last week I write to you. In my last letter to you, you may have noticed that
I seemed depressed and not like myself. I wasn t completely truthful in that letter. I m not just
having a bad day, I m diseased with an incurable, fatal disease. It all started about week after I left

England I would feel lost and confused, forgetting where I had come from and where I was
going. Along with losing some of my mental skills, every so often I would trip over my own feet
or drop my travel bag, a sign of me slowly losing coordination. Every hour or so, my hands, legs,
and feet would begin to tingle and burn. After about a week of suffering with these symptoms I
went to a doctor, a primary care provider only, and discussed how I d been feeling. He suggested I

used to another country, time zone, and food. After a few spinal taps and neurological

Figurative Language In Shakespeare s Like As The Waves
While writing authors often use figurative language for a variety of reasons. Figurative language
helps makes a piece of literature more appealing and easier to read. In the poem Like as the
Waves by William Shakespeare, a large amount of figurative language. He uses figurative
language to bring more life to the writing and make it more enjoyable to read. Shakespeare s use
of figurative language helps illustrate the theme, time can bring both good and bad outcomes.
One form of figurative language used by Shakespeare in this poem is imagery. The use of
imagery helps create a visual of what is going on and makes the poem more engaging. One
example of his use of imagery is when he writes, Like as the waves make toward the pebbled
shore, so do our minutes hasten to their end, (Shakespeare 1 2). Shakespeare is creating the image
of waves crashing on the shore. He is also creating a simile. By using a simile, Shakespeare is able

He gives human characteristics to many inanimate objects, especially to time. One example of
this is when he writes, ВЁ Time doth transfix the flourish set on youth, And delves the parallels

demonstrate how he views time and how it affects a person both physically and emotionally. He
views time as destructive and something that is not always good and he uses figurative language
to illustrate this. Another example of this is when he writes, Praising thy worth, despite his cruel
hand (Shakespeare 14). Shakespeare uses personification to show that time can never completely
eliminate a person or an item. Although time taking away loved ones and ideas is awful, cherished
memories that were created over time are left behind. Shakespeare uses a wide variety of
personification in this poem to help illuminate the message he is trying to

The Grand Inquisitor is set during the Spanish inquisition. During this time, the church had total
control over everyone and what they could or could not do. If someone was found to be in
violation of the church s code, they would be tortured or even killed(CITATION HERE). One of
such tortures can be read about in Edgar Allan Poe s The Pit and the Pendulum . In The Pit and
the Pendulum the main character is forced to choose between jumping in a pit to his inevitable
doom, or being sliced in half by a giant pendulum swinging over top of him(Poe, 17). In the
Grand Inquisitor Jesus has come back to Earth to see how things are going. Upon his arrival he
sees how many people are in need of help. He than begins to perform miracles on the needy and
the church does not approve. Jesus is then taken into custody. While in his cell it is explained to
him that his miracles were making the general population question the integrity of the church. He
is also told that when people begin to question, they are starting to act on their own free will,
which is very dangerous. When people are given the option between good and evil, they will
always choose evil. So if Jesus was allowed to continue to perform miracles, the church would be
overthrown and the streets would be ruled by chaos. The Grand inquisitor acts as the person
holding the leash and the population acts as the animal ( The Brothers Karamazov: ). As long as the
person holding the leash can distinguish between good and evil, the population will follow the

The Potential Chemical Attack On American Soil
The concern of a potential chemical attack on American soil has always been in the minds of our
government and various first response agencies that would be charged to address the effects of such
an attack. Republican congressman, Robert Pittenger, expressed this concern regarding the volatile
situation in Syriaand the dangers posed by that situation in regards to the proper accountability of
Syrian chemical weapons (Ordonez, 2013). Congressman Pittenger s fears came from the
possibility of further instability in Syria that would prevent the Syrian government from
maintaining positive control and accountability of its chemical weapons. If Bashar Assad were to
lose control of his country, terrorist organizations could potentially use such situation as an
opportunity to acquire chemical weapons and transport them to key locations in order to facilitate
their use on American soil (Ordonez, 2013). In this situation there are two elements: terrorist
acquiring chemical weapons and terrorists using chemical weapons on American soil. The first
one is more likely to happen, while the second one would be far more difficult as the weapons
must make it from Syria to the United States. Fear that terrorist could potentially get their hands on

The Immune System Of The Human Body

Dr. Kimberly Snead McDaniel
South University Online
We are examining the role the immune system plays within the general day to day operation of the
human body. Further examination of the impaired immune system s profound negative impact on
the whole body system, will also be delineated. The human body has structures and processes inside
the body that defend against infection and additional harmful foreign bodies. When working
appropriately, the immune system detects a diversity of dangers, such as foreign bodies like bacteria,
viruses, and parasites, and attacks them, leaving the healthy body tissue alone. The immune system
also creates safeguards for the body to prevent disruptions of body processes by new pathogens,
traumas, and mutations. There are major components that makes up the immune system spread
throughout the body. The major organs involved in the body s immune response are the: bone
marrow, thymus, circulatory, lymphatic system, dermis and mucosal tissues that work together in
varied and complex interactions to provide the body with immune functions.
The lymphatic system produces and stores cells that helps the body battle infection and diseases.
The lymphatic system contains the following components: bone marrow, thymus, spleen, and
lymph nodes. The lymph system allows the body to move fluids and cells outside the blood and
circulatory system. The lymph system is the most important passageway

Congruence In Social Work Research Paper
Congruence is an essential part of social work practice and being a facilitator of group work. As
described by Shalka (2009), congruence is when one s feelings, thinking, and behaviour are in

when our actions are informed by our principles. Moreover, acting in congruence is vital in

This quote by Stephen King shows that oranges are like the books and the apples are like the

In The Great Mouse Detective, Dr. Dawson is Basil of Baker Street s assistant. In Sherlock
Holmes, Dr. Watson is Sherlock Holmes assistant. In both films, both assistants do many things
for the detective. In The Great Mouse Detective, Dr. Dawson finds the note that the bat left
behind. Just like in Sherlock Holmes when Dr. Watson turns off the fire that roast the pigs to
save Irene Adler, who is hanging with pigs close to getting murdered by Lord Blackwood. When
it comes to fighting, in the film The Great Mouse Detective, Dr. Dawson does not fight. He tends
to stay out of it. Basil of Baker Street did most of the fighting alone. Whereas in the film Sherlock

Three Laws Of Robotics
The Three Laws of Robotics were formulated by Isaac Asimov with the aim of creating a trusted
protection of humans from robots and vice versa. However, Asimov s short stories quite usually
challenge the rules that he has created. This essay will discuss three Asimov short stories that
present us with certain flaws in regards to the Three Laws of Robotics. The three stories will be
Liar! , Runaround , and That Thou Art Mindful of Him . Through Liar! , Asimov is able to
question the meaning of harm, he is thus able to show that a problem will arise when considering
what sort of harm robots can protect us from. Through the short story Runaround , Asimov
questions the importance of each Law, creating scenarios in which a robot has to disobey... Show

In this short story, it is seen that a development which is meant to enhance the ability of robots to
adhere to the Three Laws leads to the opening of a whole new realm of problems. Keith
Harriman, director of US Robots, explains that a certain model of robots is being reproduced to
have the ability to weigh every human being giving it an order in terms of factors such as age,
gender and intelligence (Asimov 1974: 609 610). Understandably, this supposed improvement
to the robot is meant to ensure that the robots ability to follow the rules is improved. More
specifically, it is meant to strengthen their adherence to the Second Law, which states, A robot
must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the
First Law (Asimov 1974: page 605). However, in practice, this development would actually break
the First Law of Robotics. Keith Harriman states, A robot they say, has no right to brand this
person or that person as inferior. By accepting the orders of A in preference to that of B, B is
branded as of less consequence than A and his human rights are violated. (Asimov 1974: page
609) This statement illustrates that a robot that follows an order of one human being in favour of
another, would be breaking the First Law of Robotics because the other human being would feel
inferior and would be

Initial Appearance Vs Arraignment Hearing
How does the initial appearance differ from arraignment, preliminary hearings, and grand jury
review?
An initial appearance is the first contact with the judge that a person has after committing a crime
where they are quickly reviewed on the charges being made against them, their bail options,
constitutional rights among other court information. During the initial appearance, the judge
provides the defendant with a criminal complaint copy. In the copy, the charge or charges are listed
with the maximum probable penalty in case of conviction. It is also at the initial appearance that
the judge makes the first likely cause determination. In other words, the judge scrutinizes the
complaint to gauge whether if the claims made by the State surely confirm if the defendant
committed the offenses that he is charged for. The judge also enlightens the defendant of his /her
right to counsel, especially if he/she is not represented y an attorney. When a defendant is in charge
with felonies, then the judge enlightens him/her preliminary hearing right (Lorch, 2010). ... Show

During an arraignment, a criminal defendant is taken to a lower court where he faces a judge.
Similar to initial appearance, the defendant gets to hear of the charges leveled against him as well
as the possible criminal sentences for his offenses. The criminal defendant is also told his rights
including his right to a fair trial. The criminal defendant can choose a trial by jury or a bench trial
whereby the judge gets to determine the verdict. The criminal defendant also gets a right to have an
attorney whose main duty is to defend him. In case the defendant cannot afford an attorney, then he
is allowed to request for a public defender. Generally arraignment and initial appearance are the

Theme Of Honor In Henry The IV
Some argue that honor is the central theme of Henry the IV (part 1),after reading the play and
watching it I strongly agree with that statement. Throughout the play, the two main characters
Hotspur and Prince Hal desired to feel honored.Even though they didn t truly understand its value
and how to receive it in a precise way they still wanted to feel entitled. William Shakespearenever
gave the idea of honor a definition, he created a play that reflects honor through the three main
characters Prince Hal, Harry Percy also known as Hotspur and Sir John Falstaffpersonality rather
than giving the audience the definition.
In Henry the IV, Hotspur who is a critical and very organized person felt as though honor has to
do with glory when fighting on the battlefield and defending his country s reputation in doing so
he tests the king s power by refusing to give up his prisoners and offends him by saying he acts
like a prince (1.1.80). In order to stay true to his words he also decides to lead the rebellion
against the king, which personally I believe takes a lot of courage to go against an individual
who has more authority. I believe that if an individual is able to stand up to someone with higher
power to prove themselves, their the true definition of honor. Unlike Prince Harry and Falstaff,
Hotspur spends his free time in royalty to learn his how he can become a great leader. King Henry
states that Hotspur is the theme of honor (1.1.80) which indicates that he is the perfect

My Trip To Knott s Scary Farm
Passion comes to people over time, it can come from the simplest of things such as fishing or
even running. But there s some people who have those passions that may come as peculiar to
many people. Instead of judging these individuals, we need to take a step back and try to
understand from their perspective. I was 13 years old when I finally found a passion that I
really enjoyed. Most kids that age have a passion for sports, while I enjoy sports, I never really
had my heart into it. October 3rd, 2010 my family decide to take a trip to Knott s Scary Farm. I
had been wanting to go to the event for years, I had watched videos online for years but never
gained the courage or approval from my parents until that year. That night started with my family
taking a trip down the 91 freeway, it wouldn t have been a trip on the 91 freeway without hitting
traffic. I remember I had a feeling of uneasiness almost as if I was going to puke. We met up with...

We approached the main gate and I felt like I was about to pass out right there. We quickly got in
line for security check, as we were waiting the sounds of metal detectors going off were like
crazy. Once we got through security it was just the gate between me and the event. Those 10
seconds of walking in, felt like an eternity almost as if time just stopped. The howling of wind
could be heard throughout the main entrance along with it every now and then were the blood
curdling screams. As we made our way into Ghost Town, fog filled the air! To me the fog was a
veil that not only blinded our vision, but it was a portal into another world. Once my eyes adjusted
I realized we weren t alone, out from the shadows came a monster. At that moment my heart
skipped a beat, but at the same time I had this unusual feeling. It was a mix of fear, adrenaline, and

Weed Research Paper
Marijuana is one of Americas most addicting drugs on the market. Marijuana is most commonly
referred to as Weed . Weed is Americas most popular drug. Marijuana refers to the dried leaves,
flowers, stems, and seeds from the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa. The plant contains the mind
altering chemical delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol(THC) and other related compounds. Marijuana is
not like other drugs, weed is inhaled as a smoke and then proceeds to the lungs. There at the lungs
it weakens the little hairs inside the lung witch then lets the weed smoke slip through with ease. It
then gets into the blood stream and then goes to the brain and then heart. The brain tells the heart
to let go of more blood flow. Now in only one to five minutes your body has begun to change, and
your eyes start to get blood shot.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The addiction stage is the part of the process that in which one starts to want it more so your body
searches for more. With no luck finding any your body goes into shock and into panic, it no longer
wants it, it needs it. So your body technically throes a big temper tantrum in a struggle for the drug.
The final stage of the process is withdraw. Your body has built up a tolerance to the drug, now you
need to ease off it. If you try to get off it all at once your body could go back into shock, so you
need to ease off it, just start smoking it a little less, a little less, and a little less until you finally

Essay On Speech Language Pathology
How often do purpose, passion, and profession come together? Pursing an advanced degree in
Speech Language Pathology would consummate my plans of positively impacting the lives of
others throughout the world. I have encountered many personal influences that have shaped my
perspective; these influences have also driven me to perform excellence on a graduate level. In my
profession, my aspiration is to improve the quality of someone s life. My recent experiences
involve volunteer work, research, clinical observations, internships and student leadership positions.
I was recently granted the opportunity to present at the N.S.S.B. in Atlanta, Georgia. The research
topic on which I will be presenting is en titled Obama s Race to the Top Education Reform.

Not only do I desire to obtain a career in multiple disciplines in the field of speech language
pathology, but I also plan to create a vocation of my own. My goal is to create my own series of
activity books as well as own my own private practice. Also, I have a specific interest in voice
and fluency in the adult population, and would love to work in that field as well. In my three
years of college, the aspects of speech have become especially intriguing to me, not only because
of in class interests, but out of class interests. As the president and member of the North Carolina
Agricultural and Technical State University Fellowship Gospel Choir, I love to sing, and I find a
interesting connection between speech and singing that simply amazes me. Lastly, I hope to gain
clinical experience, obtain my doctoral degree, and seek employment at a University to impact the
lives of aspiring speech language pathologists as my professors did for

Personal Statement On Family Assessment
On November 2, 2016 I drove to Wittier, CA to meet the Galagar family for the third and final
family assessment. To prepare, I utilized Wright and Leahey (2013) Nurses and Families: A guide
to Family Assessment and Interventions textbook in order to guide me in further assessing this
family s dynamic and especially their behavior towards each other as well as guide me in
developing a strategy to conclude my Family Assessment project. It is important to state that
assessment of this family dynamic was taken into account at each of the three meetings, however
more so during this meeting via engaging the Galagers in a gameof Sorry and Connect 4. These
games were strategically chosen to allow Galager s youngest daughter, Laura, diagnosed with
developmental disability be a participant. This field note is my reflection not only on my meeting,
which will address the Galager Family Power Diagram, and the Family Attachment diagram, but
also my reflection on my growth and development as a soon to be Advance Practice Nurse.
Once again, I met Galagers in the evening, as it was convenient for everyone. All members of the
family were home, including the three dogs that were barking as I entered the house. This time,
to say thank you for allowing me to work with them, I encouraged the family to order a pizza for
which I paid. This was also a strategy to see how they would accommodate each other while
making a choice for pizza. Additionally, I brought two games with me, Sorry and Connect

The Importance Of Water Scarcity In Egypt Air, food, water, they are the keys of people to survive, it is no doubt that people can t survive without anyone of these, thus, water is one of crucial thing that people need. In recent year, water sustainability become a popular topic because water scarcity is quite serious around the world, about 1.2 billion people or nearly 20% of the world s population face physical scarcity, another 25% of population live in a country which lack of necessary equipment to get water from river or lake (United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs 2014) пјЊand water sustainability is to make sure people have clean water to use in future. Egypt face a water problem, bad location and inefficient water use, but government have some solutions like use water more efficient and reduce waste. Israel used to be a water scarcity country, but now, this problem has been solved by new technology. Egypt is one of most water stressed country in the world. Two reasons which directly leads to water scarcity in Egypt. One of main reason is location, Egypt is located in Africa, and surrounded by Israel, Libya, Sudan and Red Sea, in addition, most areas of Egypt are deserts, these deserts cause hot and dry climate (Wolvetang 2015). Inefficient irrigation also leads to water scarcity in Egypt. Because almost 80 mm of rainfall per year, and only 6% of land is suitable for agriculture in Egypt, which leads to wasteful irrigation techniques such as flood irrigation, this system losing 3 billion cubic ... • 3. The Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms School uniforms have both negative and positive feedback. Some view it as promoting conformity, or taking away a student s individuality. It is always a fear to both parents and students to have the liberties promised to them striped away just because of their age or for the sake of being educated. This is why many families took these cases to court on the behalf of the minor in their custody. Others tend to view it as a way to make things better for students. They want to enforce that equality but at the same time embrace differences. They want uniforms to decrease judgment and discrimination among students. They want student to behave according to societies standards. They don t want any malice or jealousy due to a few differences. They want the uniform to keep things orderly. The School Board s purpose for enacting the uniform policy is to increase test scores and reduce disciplinary problems throughout the school system, the appeals court wrote in Canady. This purpose is in no way related to the suppression of student speech. (findlaw/us 5th circuit) The school system won and it was decide that the uniform policy was not a violation of the student s first or fourteenth amendment rights. Also it was brought up that the uniforms actually help with behavior and test scores. Uniforms are becoming increasingly more popular in the states due to that specific reason. Uniforms which were 1st seen in private schools here in the US have public schools readily following the trend. The dress codes now enforced by majority schools believe it restricts students use of clothing as an element of contemporary communicative intake. It is therefore used as a precaution to keep gang violence, and crime rate down. The implementation of uniforms was to increase student success, and deter bad behavior. Their has yet to be a link that suggest a substantial connection between the school uniform policies and student achievement. The results do not particularly deny or back either side of the uniform argument. The results do nonetheless strongly intimate that uniforms are not the solution to all of American education s ills. Though this was the initial reason to have students switch to uniforms there is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He explained to me that it wasn t Jazz unless it swung like the greats. I listened to a song Sing Sing Sing the other day from one of my Jazz collections that my grandpa gave to me and realized that their was so much energy and pizzazz in this music. He explained to me that it was all put together by a guy named Benny, and I understood why. Benny Goodman, born Benjamin David in 1909, one of twelve children, grew up in a Chicago ghetto with his family, who fled Russian anti Semitism. Encouraged by his father, an immigrant tailor, to learn a musical instrument, Goodman took up the clarinet at a young ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Los Angeles, the band created a sensation, essentially starting the swing era. In fact, Goodman became known as the King of Swing (Collier, 1989). Swing was the dominant idiom of the 1930s and much of the 1940s. Basically, it was a form of dance music played by a large band, and was the medium through which most white Americans first heard Jazz (Schuller,1989). Although the decade 1935 45 was called the Swing Era, swing arrangements had been played by large bands beginning in the 1920s. Bandleader arrangers Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, and, later, Count Basie, worked out arrangements for their 10 to 12 piece bands, which, unlike traditional jazz bands, were divided into instrumental sections. The rhythm section (piano, guitar, bass, and drums) maintained a steady, even beat; the saxophone and brass sections countered each other with harmonized riffs and repeated figures, with section leaders improvising over this background (Stewart, 1979). Utilized almost exclusively for dancing, the music of the big bands borrowed heavily from the techniques introduced by Henderson. Among the most popular bands were those led by Goodman, Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, the Dorsey brothers, and Artie Shaw. As a counterpart of the highly arranged orchestrations of these New York based bands, a Kansas City swing style developed under the influence of Count Basie and Bennie Moten that emphasized a blues ... • 5. Truman Capote s The Last To See Them Alive According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the term fiction is defined as written stories about people and events that are not real. Within this genre, there are six main subgenres romance, mystery, western, historical, horror, and science fiction (Vaughn). These subgenres can help define the author s purpose of particular pieces of literature. This is true for the first vignette of Truman Capote s famous book In Cold Blood, titled The Last to See Them Alive . The writing in this section shows how country living is in Holcomb, Kansas while telling the story of the killers, Dick and Perry, on their way to murder the lovable Clutters. The title of this book and vignette make it seem as if Capote s purpose was to write a mystery novel. However, this is proven wrong almost immediately after he describes the vivid setting of Holcomb. He reveals the identity of the murderers, leaving no guessing for the reader as to who committed the horrific crime. In other words, his purpose is not to write a mystery novel, but to describe in detail a cryptic murder in small town Holcomb, Kansas. On top of that, this novel was far from fiction. Capote immersed himself into this novel, getting all the facts and details to stay true to the Clutter family while revealing the mindset and motivations of the... The question is, should people use a more aggressive action or should people be nonviolent in their actions? People might disagree with using peaceful tactics because they believe that slave owners deserve what has come to them for decades. The people should go in a more nonviolence way because if they kill the slave owners then they will just be dropping down to their level and revenge is never a good thing. Peace should not equal war. A quote from William Whipper s speech, Non Resistance to Offensive Aggression, a just and necessary war or physical self defense goes against the letter and spirit of the Bible. Any harm to another person is going against the bible, even if it is self defense. Being violent is the wrong way to go and it is an attack on Christianity. By threatening and making slave states afraid, they will free slaves because slave owners would overwhelm with fear. A quote from Henry Highland Garnet s speech, Call to Rebellion, to slaves in the United States, As a result of Vesey s threatening plan, the slave states seriously considered freeing the slaves. If slave owners fear that the slaves and people who are against slavery might do something, then they might consider on freeing the slaves. Even though this almost worked, threatening to do harm is wrong and using a more nonviolent way is better, so no war starts. If both sides fight it out, it is going to be in complete chaos. To be free, the slaves and the people who are against slavery need to use peaceful tactics and nonviolence. He does not believe that having beliefs like this will shrink your social circle, he thinks that it will show who to actually value and be friends with to get a beneficial friendship out of it. This quote stood out to me because of how determined Mr. Clutter is about his beliefs, he is very strict and loves the church and everything that goes along with that. This quote helps show Mr. Clutter s love for church and following God and so that is probably why people were so worried when they did not show up for church on the Sunday morning after they were murdered. George and Lennie converse about their relationship, Guys like us, are the loneliest guys in the world...But not us! An why? Because... because I got you to look after me and you got me to look after you and that s why! (Steinbeck 14). Lennie and George have each other, and their unconventional relationship prevents them from becoming lonely. The italics used in the quote give the characters voices a tone that seems like it should be read like a song. The indirect characterization of speech and the way that Steinbeck displays the speech, with italics, it seems as though Lennie is giddy with excitement, when dreaming about their life. Because the readers have concluded that Lennie has a childish nature, they can infer how Lennie would be saying this, and therefore develop his childish, naive character. Likewise, when Lennie and George compare themselves to the society by saying, But not us! its direct characterization which shows their us against the world type of relationship. Additionally, despite Curley s wife s place in a conventional relationship, she confesses her loneliness to Lennie. She confides in Lennie and tells him how her and Curley s relationship evolved, So I married Curley. Met him out to the Riverside Dance Palace that same night...I ain t told this to nobody before... Sexual desires play a great role in understanding an individual personality. Men in their nature are attracted by power and wealth and can be aggressive in their approach in attaining both. They approach sexual reproduction in a much different way to their female counterparts. Men tend to be more aggressive and promiscuous in their approach as they tend to have many sexual partners as they see the advantage of impregnating as many women as possible. This is seen as successful method of ensuring that their genes are passed down to the next generation. They tend to seek out women with a higher sexual reproduction, women who will be able to bear them strong healthy children able to continue the reproduction process. Women on the other hand are choosier in their selection of mating partners. They invest most of their time in finding the right type of partner who can provide financial security and help protect and raise their offspring. If we are to take both analogies into a broader prospective we can see these play out in both our modern days and history. Take for instance monarchs or royal families. There is a strict procedure in the selection of a future prince or princess. Because of royalty they have to select their partners based on several factors; such as social class or standing in society; as it is important that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Virtues Virtues he tells us are like diverse judgments of excellence or admirableness and you cannot reduce to a single principle explanation of what it is excellent. He makes a comparison X seems excellent, but why? Because X has characteristics of A, B, and C which are excellent. He goes on to tell us that he naturally begins to think why are they excellent and what is excellent about them. He says most people will reflect on this and will come up with different reasons and it can just keep going on there might not be a stopping point. He talks about each step taking us further from our explanation why they are good or can even weaken why we think it is excellent. He states that this process agrees with structural virtues. He speaks to us that a particular person s moral character is a big discussion of their particular traits. He says that if we think courage, generosity and justice are virtues and we need to think about other things that are equal and that is more excellent. He compares courageous with cowardly and generous with stingy and kind with unjust ways. He tells us that his book involves much reflection about traits traditionally regarded as virtues. He explains to us that a person must not only have a number of excellent traits but one must have them all put together as a whole. He compares a soldier who is fighting for an unjust cause. According to the glossary for Education Reform, the definition of curriculum is the lessons and academic content taught in a school or in a specific course or program. (S. My focus will be on issues surrounding how curriculum is developed, how decisions are made on who teaches what, and how curriculum is implemented all within the California public school system. It is the overall attitude, customs and beliefs that distinguishes one culture from another. Culture is something that is actually transferred from one generation to another not through genes but through language, material objects, rituals that we daily perform, through institutions and through art and drama. • 23. Macbeth Feminist Play Analysis Generally, Macbeth is thought of as Shakespeare s most feminist play. With a supposedly powerful female character and an inversion of gender roles, it is easy to see how this idea came into being. However, it is totally wrong. Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, is a play about an ambitious nobleman who would go to any measure to become king and retain that position after receiving a prophecy from three witches. At first, he is unwilling to resort to violence to become king but his wife, Lady Macbeth, manipulates him into doing so. Once the first murder is complete, he has found a thirst for killing and continues to kill various people until he is eventually killed and the rightful king takes his place. The claims of this being a feminist play stem from Lady Macbeth s character and her relationship with Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is violent and evil, while Macbeth is originally too kind, showing a gender rolereversal. Even so, there are many problematic aspects of Macbeth that completely negate the few progressive components in Shakespeare s writing. Macbeth is a misogynist play because it promotes strict genderroles, gender non conforming women are demonized and seen as responsible for men s problems, and by the second half of the play, any innovative gender role reversals are themselves reversed. To begin with, Macbeth promotes very strict gender roles, with women and femininity being associated with fear and weakness, and men and manliness being associated with power ... Throughout history and present day times, many countries such as Germany, France, and Canada have provided assistance and aid to underdeveloped countries to help alleviate poverty. The United States itself issues aid to developing countries which include Israel, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Ethiopia; this has been an American practice since 1947 after World War II. During the time period from 1947 to 1949 the United States, under the Marshall Plan, provided both financial and technical assistance to Europe and Asia after the war. As a result, Europe was rebuilt both politically and economically. Today the United States continues to provide aidto underdeveloped countries, helping them evolve and strengthen their economy. Many Americans believe that America is doing the right thing in issuing aid, while others hold the opinion that the United States should not issue aid, and that the issue of money to developing countries needs to stop. On one side of the issue the supporters of developmental aid believe that the United States is doing more than a great job by offering economic assistance to countries that need help to develop. These individuals are aware of the unfortunate poverty levels in many countries abroad. As times have changed, so have the contents of ads. Companies and corporations spend billions of dollars in hopes to successfully persuade their audience. Republican congressman, Robert Pittenger, expressed this concern regarding the volatile situation in Syriaand the dangers posed by that situation in regards to the proper accountability of Syrian chemical weapons (Ordonez, 2013). Congressman Pittenger s fears came from the possibility of further instability in Syria that would prevent the Syrian government from maintaining positive control and accountability of its chemical weapons. If Bashar Assad were to lose control of his country, terrorist organizations could potentially use such situation as an opportunity to acquire chemical weapons and transport them to key locations in order to facilitate their use on American soil (Ordonez, 2013). In this situation there are two elements: terrorist acquiring chemical weapons and terrorists using chemical weapons on American soil. The first one is more likely to happen, while the second one would be far more difficult as the weapons must make it from Syria to the United States. • 38. Congruence In Social Work Research Paper Congruence is an essential part of social work practice and being a facilitator of group work. As described by Shalka (2009), congruence is when one s feelings, thinking, and behaviour are in alignment and when one s actions are consistent with their values and beliefs. Furthermore, it is when our actions are informed by our principles. Moreover, acting in congruence is vital in social work because of its nature, which revolves around helping other people live better lives. As prescribed by the BCASW Code of Ethics (2011), social workers are obligated to act as professionals in the best interest of their client, ensuring that they respect the client s intrinsic worth and that they work from a place of integrity and objectivity. These social work values should be adopted personally as well as professionally, allowing social workers to be in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I was young, and before I made the decision to become a social worker, I was in a terribly abusive relationship that entailed financial, emotional, spiritual, and sexual abuse. Further, I had very naГЇve views on how the world worked, including in the areas of social justice and feminism. Looking back, I know during that time I judged women who stayed in abusive relationships, not understanding why they would not just leave them. However, this was a quite hypocritical viewpoint, because I myself was in a horrific relationship that I stayed in for over two years. At the time, I valued kindness, independence and self preservation, including cutting people (except for my boyfriend) out of my life who were harmful to me. I was incongruent by not seeing that I was being abused and by being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Three Laws Of Robotics The Three Laws of Robotics were formulated by Isaac Asimov with the aim of creating a trusted protection of humans from robots and vice versa. However, Asimov s short stories quite usually challenge the rules that he has created. This essay will discuss three Asimov short stories that present us with certain flaws in regards to the Three Laws of Robotics. The three stories will be Liar! , Runaround , and That Thou Art Mindful of Him . Through Liar! , Asimov is able to question the meaning of harm, he is thus able to show that a problem will arise when considering what sort of harm robots can protect us from. Through the short story Runaround , Asimov questions the importance of each Law, creating scenarios in which a robot has to disobey... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this short story, it is seen that a development which is meant to enhance the ability of robots to adhere to the Three Laws leads to the opening of a whole new realm of problems. Keith Harriman, director of US Robots, explains that a certain model of robots is being reproduced to have the ability to weigh every human being giving it an order in terms of factors such as age, gender and intelligence (Asimov 1974: 609 610). Understandably, this supposed improvement to the robot is meant to ensure that the robots ability to follow the rules is improved. More specifically, it is meant to strengthen their adherence to the Second Law, which states, A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law (Asimov 1974: page 605). However, in practice, this development would actually break the First Law of Robotics. Keith Harriman states, A robot they say, has no right to brand this person or that person as inferior. By accepting the orders of A in preference to that of B, B is branded as of less consequence than A and his human rights are violated. (Asimov 1974: page 609) This statement illustrates that a robot that follows an order of one human being in favour of another, would be breaking the First Law of Robotics because the other human being would feel inferior and would be ... • 41. Initial Appearance Vs Arraignment Hearing How does the initial appearance differ from arraignment, preliminary hearings, and grand jury review? An initial appearance is the first contact with the judge that a person has after committing a crime where they are quickly reviewed on the charges being made against them, their bail options, constitutional rights among other court information. During the initial appearance, the judge provides the defendant with a criminal complaint copy. In the copy, the charge or charges are listed with the maximum probable penalty in case of conviction. It is also at the initial appearance that the judge makes the first likely cause determination. In other words, the judge scrutinizes the complaint to gauge whether if the claims made by the State surely confirm if the defendant committed the offenses that he is charged for. The judge also enlightens the defendant of his /her right to counsel, especially if he/she is not represented y an attorney. • 42. Theme Of Honor In Henry The IV Some argue that honor is the central theme of Henry the IV (part 1),after reading the play and watching it I strongly agree with that statement. Throughout the play, the two main characters Hotspur and Prince Hal desired to feel honored.Even though they didn t truly understand its value and how to receive it in a precise way they still wanted to feel entitled. William Shakespearenever gave the idea of honor a definition, he created a play that reflects honor through the three main characters Prince Hal, Harry Percy also known as Hotspur and Sir John Falstaffpersonality rather than giving the audience the definition. In Henry the IV, Hotspur who is a critical and very organized person felt as though honor has to do with glory when fighting on the battlefield and defending his country s reputation in doing so he tests the king s power by refusing to give up his prisoners and offends him by saying he acts like a prince (1.1.80). In order to stay true to his words he also decides to lead the rebellion against the king, which personally I believe takes a lot of courage to go against an individual who has more authority. I believe that if an individual is able to stand up to someone with higher power to prove themselves, their the true definition of honor. Unlike Prince Harry and Falstaff, Hotspur spends his free time in royalty to learn his how he can become a great leader. King Henry states that Hotspur is the theme of honor (1.1.80) which indicates that he is the perfect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To prepare, I utilized Wright and Leahey (2013) Nurses and Families: A guide to Family Assessment and Interventions textbook in order to guide me in further assessing this family s dynamic and especially their behavior towards each other as well as guide me in developing a strategy to conclude my Family Assessment project. It is important to state that assessment of this family dynamic was taken into account at each of the three meetings, however more so during this meeting via engaging the Galagers in a gameof Sorry and Connect 4. These games were strategically chosen to allow Galager s youngest daughter, Laura, diagnosed with developmental disability be a participant. This field note is my reflection not only on my meeting, which will address the Galager Family Power Diagram, and the Family Attachment diagram, but also my reflection on my growth and development as a soon to be Advance Practice Nurse. Once again, I met Galagers in the evening, as it was convenient for everyone. All members of the family were home, including the three dogs that were barking as I entered the house. This time, to say thank you for allowing me to work with them, I encouraged the family to order a pizza for which I paid. This was also a strategy to see how they would accommodate each other while making a choice for pizza. Additionally, I brought two games with me, Sorry and Connect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
