Socrates is a well known philosopher/ theorist who had views that were against nature theories which
is what he was educated on. Socrates felt that nature theories increased confusion versus provided
clarity. Due to those circumstances Socrates disregarded all the information about natural sciences and
nature theories due to this. Which increased his pursuit towards ethics and logics towards categories
that interested him.
Socrates was in depth with the pursuit of happiness, and educated other individuals about this pursuit.

Destructive Colonization Exposed in Shooting an Elephant and Heart of Darkness
As a man is captured, his first instinct is to try and break free from his shackles and chains. Primal
urges such as this often accompany humans when they are forced, as in capture, to rely on their most
basic instincts to survive.
In this manner, natives in Africa acted upon instinct when the Europeans arrived to take their land and
freedom. The short story Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell and the novel Heart of Darkness by
Joseph Conrad revolve around the time when colonialism had a foothold in many parts of the world.
This setting is one of conflict with the native peoples in these countries who are fighting and rebelling
against the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This unrest needs to be subdued so that control will remain over the conquered. In this way, Orwell
needed to exterminate an elephant because it had become wild and had killed a native man. However,
the natives had not shown much interest while [the elephant] was merely ravaging their homes, but it
was different now that [the elephant] [is] going to be shot. (Century, 146)
Shooting this elephant has much significance because it illustrates the control over the natives that the
colonizers had. Orwell needed to kill the elephant in order to support his position of a law figure in his
town. The elephant was unruly to begin with, but it also served as a reminder for Orwell s constituents
about who was in power, and who had control.
Control is also used in The Heart of Darkness when Marlow first sees a group of natives, dying slowly
it [is] very clear . They had [become] inefficient as Marlow states. Inefficient with the job and labor
that was forced upon them by the colonizers. In this manner, it is evident that the natives were forced
to work and die against their will. Marlow recounts that these men were forced to become slaves for
England, forced to be oppressed and controlled by colonialist rule. The tyranny of the natives led to a
struggle to keep order within Orwell s and Marlow s jurisdictions.
As Orwell and Marlow struggle to keep order at times, they both

Social Image Of Marie Antoinette
One of the most famous queen of France, Marie Antoinette is the major historical figure representing
the dawn of the French revolution. Though she was seen as a symbol of the conservative, extravagant
royal class, recent studies disagree on this well known image. Historical fact shows that Marie
Antoinette was a virtuous queen and a thoughtful mother who was courageous in the face of death.
The current social image of Antoinette is a prejudiced one. Her notoriety is wrongly accused.
Antoinette was only a victim of family ambition and the general situation in France.
Though she lacked actual political power, Antoinette lived an active, charitable and modest life. The
famous phrase, Let them eat cake is often attributed to Antoinette as a vivid example of her ignorance.
However, renowned biographer Antonia Fraser in Marie Antoinette: The Journey notes that this phrase
is misattributed. It is actually originated from Jean Jacques Rousseau s Confessions, an autobiography
published when Antoinette was only nine. It is more likely that some discontented individual
fabricated the scenario and put the words into the mouth of Marie Antoinette (Fraser, 124). Moreover,
Antoinette s actions show that she was far from ignorant. In 1785, when a terrible famine swept the
country, potato planting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is evident that she made mistakes in her younger years. Yet not all of the criticisms of the queen
were warranted, or even true. And in some ways, Antoinette is still misunderstood. She was a woman
simply born in the wrong place at the wrong time and a Scapegoat of the Ancient Regime when her
faults were minor in comparison to the punishments inflicted on her. , as is mentioned by Fraser in
Marie Antoinette: The Journey (Fraser, 14). Teaching Antoinette as a symbol of the ignorant, noble
class before the French revolution is wrong. Her current image in European history should be
reevaluated based on actual fact and without any

After going through all the articles, I was eagerly waiting to attend the first lecture of this course. In
the first lecture of this course, I got a feeling that everything is going to change. The meditation of 5
minutes in the beginning of the lecture filled me with a positive vibe and a lot of energy. The
connection between body and soul was explained in a simple and beautiful manner by the professor.
The vibrational medicine and its effects on the body astonished me.
Further, the professor discussed about the various forms of CAM and gave me and the other students,
an opportunity to explore about any one form of CAM, write a paper on it and present it to the whole
class. During the course, various methods of alternative medicine that were presented in the class are
meditation, aromatherapy, Ayurveda, guided imagery, yoga, reiki, hydrotherapy and many more.
Meditation
According to me, it is a system of concentration or distraction of human mind and body used to reach
a higher level of awareness, physical performance, concentration or relaxation generally created from
an internal source. The meditation can be practiced for stress management, anger management, control
over anxiety, improved awareness and improvement of cognitive skills. To meditate, first find a quite

Financial Analysis of Lee College
Financial Analysis of Lee College Not for profit organizations are required to produce financial
statements that provide information about their financial position and performance. Lee College is a
private, not for profit college that prepares its financial statements in accordance to the accounting

This is not a bad sign of financial stability for the reasons previously mentioned. Since a not for profit
organization is expected to have a negative change in net assets, it could be argued that Lee College
did live within its means.
The program expense ratio is a measure of a not for profit organization s ability to utilize resources for
the fulfillment of its mission, and it is considered to be of great interest for evaluating the
organization. It is calculated by dividing program service expenses by the total expenses. For Lee
College, the program service expense of totals $14,450,000, and total expenses are $18,175,000.
Therefore, the equation would be 14,450,000 / 18,175,000 = 0.795 = 80%. The Better Business
Bureau recommends a minimum ratio of 60% (Copley, 2015), so Lee College is in good standing with
its ratio of 80%. Based on these observations, Lee College is operating above standards for a not for
profit organization, and would be considered to be financially healthy.

Metallica s And Justice For All
There are a number of reasons why I enjoy these musical acts. Although they often vary significantly
in vocals, speed, and production, all of these musical acts best works are all lyrically interesting. For
example, Metallica s ...And Justice for All is a concept album which explores injustice in war, politics,
and law. All of Rage Against the Machine s albums are politically charged, discussing topics like
police brutality, patriarchy, and apartheid. Every one of these musical acts presents intriguing and
powerful lyrics which make me want to listen closely. Generally, much of these acts lyrics center
around feelings of anger, despair, alienation, and detachment. They often vary quite significantly in
terms of theme, but their poignancy is

How Does Steven King Create Suspense
Individual Study
Compare the ways Steven King in The Shining and William Friedkin in The Exorcist use techniques
to create suspense.
Steven King in his 1977 novel The Shining and William Friedkin in his 2001 film The Exorcist
establishes that suspense can be created in many forms while both being equally effective in its own
right. Although the characters are faced with a horrific dilemma in two very different settings, the
techniques used to create suspense can be similar. In both texts suspense is produced through
characterization, narrative structure and foreshadowing to create a state of anxious uncertainty for
what may happen. While the characters within The Shining are placed in a traditional horror setting,
where they are isolated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overcome with rage Karras takes the demon with him through a window and down the grey stair way,
ultimately defeating it.
In The Shining the hotel is mentioned within the first chapter, as Jack is being interviewed. However,
it is only until chapter 4 that the reader is allowed a glimpse of the terrible things to come. Delaying
the suspense allows for proper character development which will prove important in the long run. The
word REDRUM, as stated previously was shown in chapter 4, it is a key word in the book that is
repeated countless of times. Every time this key word appears it is accompanied by fear, Danny s fear.
By introducing it so early into the story it pushed the reader to ponder the words meaning and because
of its sinister association every time it was brought up more suspense was built up. It is later revealed
that it was murder spelled in reverse. In both texts the authors use an anti climax principle that is
highly effective in creating suspense in the viewer. It works for a system of false alarms followed by
the real danger. An example of this is during Jacks possession and he remembers that he had forgot to
dump the boiler. There is a race against the clock to save the hotel, which is already building up
suspense with questions of will he make it. As he dumps the boiler it seems that he had got there in
time, this in turn takes the tension away from the reader until suddenly the hotel blows. This is a good
example of how suspense is used to create

Underestimated Due With An Inadequate Surveillance System
underestimated due to an inadequate surveillance system. Though this was partially a result of basic
failures of the surveillance system (such as a lack of timely reporting and a lack of laboratory
confirmation or serotyping), it was also due to a lack of economic interest. In the 1990s, increases in
tourism (driven by cruise ship lines, etc.) stimulated interest in identifying and preventing outbreaks,
which could be bad publicity and thus economically devastating. Likewise, although Ebola
hemorrhagic fever (EHF) has ravaged communities in West Africa since the 1970s, only recently has
the disease captured the attention of Western mass media (CDC, Outbreaks, 2014). A lack of mobility
in the impoverished rural areas typically affected by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of this, American economic stimulation in the Caribbean demanded surveillance increases;
the possibility of travel by EHF victims/contacts from West Africa caused hysteria in the Western
world and stimulated intervention from world and American health care authorities.
2. A case study outline for salmonellosis involves the identification of the source and the surveillance
of the disease. Then, a study method is chosen (here, a retrospective case control study) to determine
risk factor and more. Data is collected and assessed to aid officials in introducing measures to prevent
the spread and correct the behavior that causes it (ranging from improper egg handling to improper
farming techniques). A case study outline for EHF would begin similarly. EHF has its origins in the
jungle, but it is still key to identify a source. After a source is found, all contacts must be identified.
Thus, we see that the case study for EHF is more human centric. A case control study would be the
practical study design, as it is less intensive and less expensive. Treating EHF requires a large amount
of money and resources (medical personnel, PPE, etc.). In contrast, individuals with salmonellosis
require adequate fluids to heal and little else. A salmonellosis outbreak would have a case study
outline very similar to that of a norovirus outbreak. One major difference is person to person
transmission is possible with norovirus but not

Similarities And Differences Between Two Life Maps

she added some natural attractions. In terms of locations, according to Klinghoffer, when a child draw

what I saw in her map, where she located her home at the bottom center, while my home is at the

neighborhood. The distance between her house and Zayed University is small, since she lives in

White V Jones Case
Abstract:
The case of White v Jones [1995] is a famous case in the English tort law which concerns the liability
of solicitors to the beneficiaries of the will with whom they have no contractual relationship if they
performed their work negligently. This case raises the questions of professional negligence, the third
party beneficiary (relationship) and the duty of care. In the case of White v Jones the Court of Appel
followed the statement of Vice Chancellor Megarry in Ross v Caunters [1980] : In considering the
liability question, it is of the utmost importance to keep in mind that if there is no liability, the result is

Who, then, in law, is my neighbour? The answer seems to be persons who are so closely and directly
affected by my act that I ought reasonably to have them in contemplation as being so affected when I

The principles in Hedley Byrne Co Ltd v Heller Partners Ltd [1964] and Donoghue v Stevenson
[1932] was confirmed in White v Jones [1995] .
The significance of the case of Caparo Industries Plc v Dickman [1990] lies in the Caparo test which
is stated by Lord Bridge:
What emerges is that, in addition to the foreseeability of damage, necessary ingredients in any
situation giving rise to a duty of care are that there should exist between the party owing the duty and
the party to whom it is owed a relationship characterised by the law as one of proximity or

Comparing The Phaedo And The Upanishads
The Phaedo and the Upanishads are two of the most influential philosophical texts that have ever
existed. The Phaedo originates from traditional Greek western philosophy and the Upanishads
originates from Hinduism. Plato s Phaedo is one of the most important dialogues of his period. It
depicts the death of Socrates and is also Plato s fourth and last dialogue where he details the
philosophers death. Throughout the book, Socrates discussed many aspects of philosophy such as:
afterlife, ultimate reality, the Soul, mind/body, and also, put forth key arguments. The Upanishads
contain the first concepts of some of the central religions such as: Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
The two Upanishads that were analyzed are the Katha Upanishad and the Mundaka Upanishad. The
Katha Upanishad which is also termed Death as Teacher discusses Nachiketa s encounter with Yama:
The Hindu God of death. Yama teaches Nachiketa about What is pleasant and What is beneficial . The

If the treaty wasn t written up until after the Black Hills was searched for gold they could have made a
different agreement with the Sioux that would have allowed Americans to mine the gold.
When they found gold it was just a matter of time before things on the Sioux land would become
heated. Miners made their way to the Black Hills, moving further and further into the Sioux s hunting
grounds. Ulysses S. Grant who was president during this time tried to honor the Treaty of Fort
Laramie (PBS n.d.) but the miners demanded government protection from the Native Americans
(Clark n.d.). When Grant gave into the pressure the federal government issued an order requiring all
Indians to move onto reservations by January 31, 1876, otherwise they would be considered hostile
(PBS n.d.).
Many of the Indians didn t hear about the order while others simply ignored it. So Grant decided to
send troops to the Dakota territory to fight the Native Americans. John Gibbon, George Crook, and
Alfred Terry led these troops (PBS n.d.). Custer was not part of the force during this time due to
political issues. The biggest reason Grant avoided using Custer was because he had testified about
corruption in Grant s Indian affairs offices (PBS n.d.). It wasn t long before Grant s friend Philip
Sheridan persuaded Grant to send Custer west.
Although the Sioux were abiding by the treaty, Custer s army was ordered to move

Becoming a Feedback Focused Leader:
Why Leaders Must Excel at Giving and Receiving Feedback
MBA 510 Managament Skills Portfolio
Ben Elbert
Ohio Dominican University
August 27, 2015
Whether a leader defines success as career progression, sphere of influence, or the continual
improvement of their management skills, there is one singular fact that all leaders must grasp in order
to be effective and impactful: they have to become great providers and receivers of feedback. To grow
in one?s ability to give and receive feedback, one ought to begin with learning to receive feedback
well by recognizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Stone and Heen, 2014, p. 109) of the feedback they have received. Becoming an effective leader
requires hard work, passion, and the mastery of human relation skills that make the providing and
receiving of feedback easier and more meaningful. The road to receiving feedback well is a
continuous highway whose only mile markers are the progress beyond being beholden to the three
triggers identified in Stone?s and Heen?s article, Difficult Conversations 2.0. Truth triggers are an
emotional response where the recipient chooses to ?focus on what s wrong with the feedback? (Stone
and Heen, 2014, p. 72). This decision to reject feedback simply because part of it is incorrect?or
perceived to be incorrect?prohibits a person from evaluating the fit of the feedback and acting on the
applicable, useful parts. Overcoming an evocation of a truth trigger requires the receiver to ?dig under
the label? (Stone and Heen, 2014, p. 72) and seek more concrete and definitive examples to better
understand the feedback. Per Stone and Heen (2014), a relationship trigger comes about when the
recipient focuses on who is delivering the feedback rather than what is being said. The relationship
trigger tends to arise when the receiver believes the giver either does not have the proper level of
insight to give the feedback or they distrust the motives and authority of the deliverer (Stone and
Heen, 2014, p. 73).

Essay On The Increase Of Disease Among Drug Users
The Increase of Diseases Amongst Drug Users
Tanishia Q. Cheatham
William H. Turner Technical Arts School
Abstract
Another method used to reduce the spread of HIV among injecting drug users is through needle
exchange programs (NEPs). In these programs, users can either exchange their used needles for an
equal number of new, sterile needles or receive new ones without the requirement of an exchange.
These programs also offered a variety of other services in addition to syringe exchange, including
HIV/AIDS education and counseling, condom distribution, substance abuse, medical treatment
referrals, or other social service referrals, distribution of alcohol swabs, on site HIV testing and
counseling, screening for other infections, and some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Needle exchange programs are social services that allow injecting drug users to obtain intravenous
needles/syringes and associated equipment at little or no cost. It is based mainly on the viewpoint of
harm reduction that attempts to reduce the risk factors for diseases such as HIV/AIDS and hepatitis.
Needle exchange programs are authorized by the 2015 National H.I.V./AIDS Strategy for the United
States and the 2012 President s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief Blueprint. The increasing amongst
drug users can be reduced with the help of needle programs and additional programs that provide
similar services.
Purpose for Needle Exchange Programs
Most people believe that if they approve of needle exchange programs to operate throughout their
community, they will see an enormous increase in the number of needles/syringes discharged on their
streets as well as an increased rate in drug use. It doesn t only benefit individual drug users by helping
to prevent the transmission of blood borne diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis C, but it also benefits
the communities in which they operate by keeping used needles/syringes off the streets, giving
homeless or unstably housed drug users alternatives to street involvement, and serving as a gateway to
engage difficult to reach people in services such as mental health and

An Extension Of The Proposed Sand And Activated Charcoal...
Introduction
This report is an extension of the proposed sand and activated charcoal water filtration system for
Engineers without Borders to adapt in Mayukwayukwa. The household based, point of use system, is
advantageous for its usability, cost efficiency, and lack of ongoing energy requirements however
specific measures relating to economic, social and environmental sustainability have been identified to
increase beneficial outcomes. Similarly, measures have been examined to adapt to the growing
concern of climate change, and ensure long term suitability.
Sustainability measures
When considering the project as a whole, each aspect has been selected in light of its appropriateness
in Mayukwayukwa. Although plastic is not environmentally sustainable, its advantages; economic
feasibility, easy transportation, and a lifespan of over 50 years outweigh this (EPA, 2007). Similarly to
plastic, although PVC is unsustainable, it is most cost efficient. Charcoal is to be collected directly
from the wood based fires citizens use for cooking, thereby recycling a waste product. Although
emissions from burning wood are not ecologically ideal, cooking practices are unlikely to change in
the short term considering limited alternatives, and thus charcoal is considered as economically and
socially efficient. Sand and gravel are also locally sourced, at limited cost. Excluding the plastic, all
items are carbon neutral and sustainable. Aforementioned design features have also been

This week Heather took our imported Irish sport horse named Deelite to a show so my week was spent
packing the trailer with everything you could possibly need (show cloths, tack, lunging equipment,
different bits just incase, water fans, buckets, boots, and grooming supplies just to name a few things),
getting all papers that are needed for traveling in order (health certificate, coggins, copies of entrance
forms, etc.). Since Heather was going to be gone for three days we made a list of everything that
would need to be done while she was away. This included working two horse that had someone
coming to look at them to buy them when Heather came back, working two horses that are in for

Pros And Cons Of Probates
When a liked one dies with just a Will or no estate plan at all, his/her family is needed to put the estate
through a court managed process called probate. While most of our clients established their estates
through a living trust to avoid it, most of the properties do go through probate, which can be a
complicated, frustrating and arduous process. We re here to direct households through that procedure.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN PROBATE No two probates are ever the same, but some of them
involve locating the Will and making a filing with the probate court. As soon as the Will has been
accepted, the court selects a personal agent. After that, all the heirs need to be officially discovered in

Summary Execution at Temple Drive by Bam Alegre
Philippines, September 2016 Five months after the new administration launched its polarizing war
against drugs, various groups have raised serious concerns about the frequency and impunity of
extrajudicial killings in the country.
Even the death counts do not agree, with estimates ranging from one and a half to over three thousand
dead through the war, less than half of these due to vigilante killings or unknown assailants. The
legitimacy and protocol of police operations have been put into question due to the seeming excess in
number of operations escalating to shootouts or the alleged violations of human rights in the
apprehension of drug suspects.
Definitely, the proliferation of drug production and distribution in the Philippines poses severe
problems on the country s economy and sociopolitical stability. As a form of illicit trade, drug
trafficking is able to undermine state authority and the rule of law by fuelling corruption,
compromising elections, and hurting the legitimate economy.
However, given the current crisis of human rights violations amid the relentless thrust for the drug
war, what sentence would we expect to fall on drug suspects and are there ways in which the drug war
could instead be steered

Description: 17th Century New England and the Salem Witchcraft Trials
17th Century Colonial New England The 17th Century Colonial New England historical website was
produced and maintained by Margo Burns. Margo Burns is an independent scholar with a bachelor s
degree in English from Mount Holyoke College. While she has no academic background in history,
she has a growing reputation for specializing in the Salem witch trials, especially those in North
Andover. There is much history to explore in the 17th century; however, the witch trials of Salem have
attracted more scholarly attention than most events in colonial America. Although some of the recent
scholarship examines these trials, there is still so much more to learn about this revolutionary event
that impacted the American society. The Web site, 17th Century Colonial New England, can help

Burns provides a topical structured website with nine documents from the trials; an account of one

How Society Perpetuates Overcoming Adolescents
How Society Perpetuates Obstacles in Adolescents Adolescents are faced daily with the temptations of
using/abusing drugs and/or alcohol. Even with parents and schools trying to steer our youth today
away from using they get sucked in by all forms of advertising that lead them to believe that by saying
yes to using a controlled substance they will be much more lively. If advertising didn t have such an

The biggies for rap musicians were marijuana and other drugs, including cocaine. By contrast, the
33.7 references per hour in country songs focused almost exclusively on alcohol. Musicians have such
a huge impacted on our adolescents and as time progresses the music and our adolescents substance
abuse may possibly only rise (Shute, N., 2008). If we use Miley Cyrus who was also once known as
Hannah Montana young girls looked up to her and now the lyrics to her songs, we like to party,
dancing with Molly this is advertising that by using drugs you would then be able to have more fun.
Given that the average teenager listens to 2.4 hours of music a day and thus hears about 30,732
substance abuse reference in music in the course of a year (Shute, N., 2008). Music is well known to
connect deeply with adolescents and to influence identity development, perhaps more than any other
entertainment medium (Parker Pope, T., 2008). Alcohol product placement is in the spotlight (again)
thanks to a new study by the Dartmouth Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center that found alcohol
brand placement was found increasing in movies rated or youth as young as 13 years. This increase,
the study says, is despite the industry s intent to avoid marketing to underage persons (Sauer, A.,

Issue on Marijuana Essay example
Legalization of Marijuana in the United States is an ongoing topic that has been going on for several
years. There are vast majority of Americans who are for this move and against this move. While each
side has several good arguments to defend their case, neither one has a distinct advantage over the
other. I will be going over several arguments or point of views as well will have several facts about the
effects of Marijuana whether it is good or bad.
Marijuana is a very prominent and controversial issue in society today. Many people are under the
assumption that Marijuana is a harmful drug and receive heavy criticism because of stereotypical view
people have on pot smokers or pot heads. However it is a well know fact that people ... Show more

It has also proven to be able to bring in a substantial amount of revenue for certain states. However
Marijuana does have its negative effects on the human body. Marijuana causes physical effects which
includes increased heart and pulse rate, bloodshot eyes, and dry throat and mouth. Studies have shown
that the earlier age people decide to use marijuana the more likely they will experiment with other
drugs, and lose interest and are unmotivated to do any kind of schoolwork. It decreases your ability to
drive by slowing down your ability to think properly and slows down you reflexes. Studies have also
determined after long continued use individuals can become burnt out which makes the individual
dull, slow moving, and inattentive.
Marijuana has its pro s but it also has its cons. In its entirety it s an individual s opinion on whether or
not it s good for society. To this day there have been several determinations about the legalization of
Marijuana in the United States, and the causes and effects it has on society. Mendocino County is
known for growing Marijuana in the state of California and is legal for the most part due to the
medical use. Cartels however are using this to their advantage and are growing weed within the county
to grow Marijuana on their own. Last week the DEA has confiscated over $800 million worth of pot.

Comparing Aristotle And David Hume
There are two significant empiricists I m going to focus on, Aristotle and David Hume. Specifically,
the focus is on their ethics: what those ethics are, how they differ from each other, and which is
superior. Superiority will be determined by the philosophy s usefulness whether the epitome of a
philosophy s virtue is attainable by man; and how conducive the philosophy is to human happiness. In
both of these respects, Aristotle is superior to Hume. To Aristotle, ethics is not an exact science, it s
ruled by broad generalizations that work most of the time and are found with those of experience, the
men of practical wisdom (Nicomachean Ethics, 1094b15 1095a10). We don t need a focused study in
the sciences to understand the good, all one needs is a proper understanding of how the external
aspects of life: friendship, pleasure, honor, and wealth operate in concert. No aspects of friendship,
pleasure, honor, and wealth ought to be practiced too much (excess) or too little (deficient); moral
virtue is action performed between two extremes (Nic. Ethics, 1106b5 25). And it is by consultation
that one may find the middle ground between excess and deficiency, The Golden Mean (Nic. Ethics,
1097b5 20; Nic. Ethics, 1104a10 25). Virtue is, by definition, the excellent performance of an object s
function (Nic. Ethics, 1097b25 30). A thing s function is determined by eliminating every ability that
isn t exclusive to what it is to be that thing (Nic. Ethics, 1097b30 1098a5). For example, a

Can Mobile Health Improve Nurses Clinical Workflow Process for Patient Admissions?
Introduction Mobile Health is defined at the mHealth Summit as any health related service that is
given using a hand held device or mobile type of communication (Torgan, 2009).
Mobile health (mHealth) technology made an appearance in the early 2000 s with the personal digital
assistant (PDA), most notably the Blackberry (Ventola, 2014). Since then, the trend has grown
remarkably. Experts predict that by 2015, over 500 million people will be accessing health related
applications from their smartphones (Mobile Medical, 2014; Malone, 2013). There are many types of
mobile health products and serve a variety of purposes. Applications can be used for diagnosing
illness, digital imaging, monitoring remotely for chronic disease (diabetes, heart disease), ECG
viewers, telehealth, managing prescriptions, appointments, reference materials (drug and ICD coding
information), diet, exercise, remote communication, dictation, surgical scheduling, voice, text, web

Colleges should provide books for students that are included into the tuition cost. The cost of books
can exceed thousand of dollars a year putting strain on students that don t get enough financial help
and are forced to either find a way to pay for the books or to not purchase the books they may need
and risk failing there class. Its stated in a survey a U.S. public interest research group found more than
2,000 college students in 33 states and 156 different campuses spend around 1,200 each year on
textbooks and supplies needed for there classes. They say the comparison of a community college and

Destructive Colonization Exposed in Shooting an Elephant and Heart of Darkness As a man is captured, his first instinct is to try and break free from his shackles and chains. Primal urges such as this often accompany humans when they are forced, as in capture, to rely on their most basic instincts to survive. In this manner, natives in Africa acted upon instinct when the Europeans arrived to take their land and freedom. The short story Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell and the novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad revolve around the time when colonialism had a foothold in many parts of the world. This unrest needs to be subdued so that control will remain over the conquered. In this way, Orwell needed to exterminate an elephant because it had become wild and had killed a native man. However, the natives had not shown much interest while [the elephant] was merely ravaging their homes, but it was different now that [the elephant] [is] going to be shot. (Century, 146) Shooting this elephant has much significance because it illustrates the control over the natives that the colonizers had. Orwell needed to kill the elephant in order to support his position of a law figure in his town. The elephant was unruly to begin with, but it also served as a reminder for Orwell s constituents about who was in power, and who had control. Control is also used in The Heart of Darkness when Marlow first sees a group of natives, dying slowly it [is] very clear . They had [become] inefficient as Marlow states. Inefficient with the job and labor that was forced upon them by the colonizers. In this manner, it is evident that the natives were forced to work and die against their will. Marlow recounts that these men were forced to become slaves for England, forced to be oppressed and controlled by colonialist rule. The tyranny of the natives led to a struggle to keep order within Orwell s and Marlow s jurisdictions. As Orwell and Marlow struggle to keep order at times, they both ... • 6. Social Image Of Marie Antoinette One of the most famous queen of France, Marie Antoinette is the major historical figure representing the dawn of the French revolution. Though she was seen as a symbol of the conservative, extravagant royal class, recent studies disagree on this well known image. Historical fact shows that Marie Antoinette was a virtuous queen and a thoughtful mother who was courageous in the face of death. The current social image of Antoinette is a prejudiced one. Her notoriety is wrongly accused. Antoinette was only a victim of family ambition and the general situation in France. Though she lacked actual political power, Antoinette lived an active, charitable and modest life. The famous phrase, Let them eat cake is often attributed to Antoinette as a vivid example of her ignorance. However, renowned biographer Antonia Fraser in Marie Antoinette: The Journey notes that this phrase is misattributed. It is actually originated from Jean Jacques Rousseau s Confessions, an autobiography published when Antoinette was only nine. It is more likely that some discontented individual fabricated the scenario and put the words into the mouth of Marie Antoinette (Fraser, 124). Moreover, Antoinette s actions show that she was far from ignorant. In 1785, when a terrible famine swept the country, potato planting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is not a bad sign of financial stability for the reasons previously mentioned. Since a not for profit organization is expected to have a negative change in net assets, it could be argued that Lee College did live within its means. The program expense ratio is a measure of a not for profit organization s ability to utilize resources for the fulfillment of its mission, and it is considered to be of great interest for evaluating the organization. It is calculated by dividing program service expenses by the total expenses. For Lee College, the program service expense of totals $14,450,000, and total expenses are $18,175,000. Therefore, the equation would be 14,450,000 / 18,175,000 = 0.795 = 80%. The Better Business Bureau recommends a minimum ratio of 60% (Copley, 2015), so Lee College is in good standing with its ratio of 80%. Based on these observations, Lee College is operating above standards for a not for profit organization, and would be considered to be financially healthy. References Cirtin, A. Steven King in his 1977 novel The Shining and William Friedkin in his 2001 film The Exorcist establishes that suspense can be created in many forms while both being equally effective in its own right. Although the characters are faced with a horrific dilemma in two very different settings, the techniques used to create suspense can be similar. In both texts suspense is produced through characterization, narrative structure and foreshadowing to create a state of anxious uncertainty for what may happen. While the characters within The Shining are placed in a traditional horror setting, where they are isolated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overcome with rage Karras takes the demon with him through a window and down the grey stair way, ultimately defeating it. In The Shining the hotel is mentioned within the first chapter, as Jack is being interviewed. However, it is only until chapter 4 that the reader is allowed a glimpse of the terrible things to come. Delaying the suspense allows for proper character development which will prove important in the long run. The word REDRUM, as stated previously was shown in chapter 4, it is a key word in the book that is repeated countless of times. Every time this key word appears it is accompanied by fear, Danny s fear. By introducing it so early into the story it pushed the reader to ponder the words meaning and because of its sinister association every time it was brought up more suspense was built up. It is later revealed that it was murder spelled in reverse. In both texts the authors use an anti climax principle that is highly effective in creating suspense in the viewer. It works for a system of false alarms followed by the real danger. An example of this is during Jacks possession and he remembers that he had forgot to dump the boiler. There is a race against the clock to save the hotel, which is already building up suspense with questions of will he make it. As he dumps the boiler it seems that he had got there in time, this in turn takes the tension away from the reader until suddenly the hotel blows. This is a good example of how suspense is used to create ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though this was partially a result of basic failures of the surveillance system (such as a lack of timely reporting and a lack of laboratory confirmation or serotyping), it was also due to a lack of economic interest. In the 1990s, increases in tourism (driven by cruise ship lines, etc.) stimulated interest in identifying and preventing outbreaks, which could be bad publicity and thus economically devastating. Likewise, although Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) has ravaged communities in West Africa since the 1970s, only recently has the disease captured the attention of Western mass media (CDC, Outbreaks, 2014). A case study outline for salmonellosis involves the identification of the source and the surveillance of the disease. Then, a study method is chosen (here, a retrospective case control study) to determine risk factor and more. Data is collected and assessed to aid officials in introducing measures to prevent the spread and correct the behavior that causes it (ranging from improper egg handling to improper farming techniques). A case study outline for EHF would begin similarly. EHF has its origins in the jungle, but it is still key to identify a source. After a source is found, all contacts must be identified. Thus, we see that the case study for EHF is more human centric. A case control study would be the practical study design, as it is less intensive and less expensive. Treating EHF requires a large amount of money and resources (medical personnel, PPE, etc.). In contrast, individuals with salmonellosis require adequate fluids to heal and little else. A salmonellosis outbreak would have a case study outline very similar to that of a norovirus outbreak. One major difference is person to person transmission is possible with norovirus but not ... In the case of White v Jones the Court of Appel followed the statement of Vice Chancellor Megarry in Ross v Caunters [1980] : In considering the liability question, it is of the utmost importance to keep in mind that if there is no liability, the result is striking: the only person who has a valid claim against the solicitor has suffered no loss, and the only person ... If the treaty wasn t written up until after the Black Hills was searched for gold they could have made a different agreement with the Sioux that would have allowed Americans to mine the gold. When they found gold it was just a matter of time before things on the Sioux land would become heated. Miners made their way to the Black Hills, moving further and further into the Sioux s hunting grounds. Ulysses S. Grant who was president during this time tried to honor the Treaty of Fort Laramie (PBS n.d.) but the miners demanded government protection from the Native Americans (Clark n.d.). When Grant gave into the pressure the federal government issued an order requiring all Indians to move onto reservations by January 31, 1876, otherwise they would be considered hostile (PBS n.d.). Many of the Indians didn t hear about the order while others simply ignored it. So Grant decided to send troops to the Dakota territory to fight the Native Americans. John Gibbon, George Crook, and Alfred Terry led these troops (PBS n.d.). Custer was not part of the force during this time due to political issues. The biggest reason Grant avoided using Custer was because he had testified about corruption in Grant s Indian affairs offices (PBS n.d.). (Stone and Heen, 2014, p. 109) of the feedback they have received. Becoming an effective leader requires hard work, passion, and the mastery of human relation skills that make the providing and receiving of feedback easier and more meaningful. The road to receiving feedback well is a continuous highway whose only mile markers are the progress beyond being beholden to the three triggers identified in Stone?s and Heen?s article, Difficult Conversations 2.0. Truth triggers are an emotional response where the recipient chooses to ?focus on what s wrong with the feedback? (Stone and Heen, 2014, p. 72). This decision to reject feedback simply because part of it is incorrect?or perceived to be incorrect?prohibits a person from evaluating the fit of the feedback and acting on the applicable, useful parts. Overcoming an evocation of a truth trigger requires the receiver to ?dig under the label? (Stone and Heen, 2014, p. 72) and seek more concrete and definitive examples to better understand the feedback. Per Stone and Heen (2014), a relationship trigger comes about when the recipient focuses on who is delivering the feedback rather than what is being said. The relationship trigger tends to arise when the receiver believes the giver either does not have the proper level of insight to give the feedback or they distrust the motives and authority of the deliverer (Stone and Heen, 2014, p. 73). ... The household based, point of use system, is advantageous for its usability, cost efficiency, and lack of ongoing energy requirements however specific measures relating to economic, social and environmental sustainability have been identified to increase beneficial outcomes. Similarly, measures have been examined to adapt to the growing concern of climate change, and ensure long term suitability. Sustainability measures When considering the project as a whole, each aspect has been selected in light of its appropriateness in Mayukwayukwa. Although plastic is not environmentally sustainable, its advantages; economic feasibility, easy transportation, and a lifespan of over 50 years outweigh this (EPA, 2007). Similarly to plastic, although PVC is unsustainable, it is most cost efficient. Charcoal is to be collected directly from the wood based fires citizens use for cooking, thereby recycling a waste product. Although emissions from burning wood are not ecologically ideal, cooking practices are unlikely to change in the short term considering limited alternatives, and thus charcoal is considered as economically and socially efficient. Summary Execution at Temple Drive by Bam Alegre Philippines, September 2016 Five months after the new administration launched its polarizing war against drugs, various groups have raised serious concerns about the frequency and impunity of extrajudicial killings in the country. Even the death counts do not agree, with estimates ranging from one and a half to over three thousand dead through the war, less than half of these due to vigilante killings or unknown assailants. Definitely, the proliferation of drug production and distribution in the Philippines poses severe problems on the country s economy and sociopolitical stability. As a form of illicit trade, drug trafficking is able to undermine state authority and the rule of law by fuelling corruption, compromising elections, and hurting the legitimate economy. • 32. Comparing Aristotle And David Hume There are two significant empiricists I m going to focus on, Aristotle and David Hume. Specifically, the focus is on their ethics: what those ethics are, how they differ from each other, and which is superior. Superiority will be determined by the philosophy s usefulness whether the epitome of a philosophy s virtue is attainable by man; and how conducive the philosophy is to human happiness. In both of these respects, Aristotle is superior to Hume. To Aristotle, ethics is not an exact science, it s ruled by broad generalizations that work most of the time and are found with those of experience, the men of practical wisdom (Nicomachean Ethics, 1094b15 1095a10). We don t need a focused study in the sciences to understand the good, all one needs is a proper understanding of how the external aspects of life: friendship, pleasure, honor, and wealth operate in concert. No aspects of friendship, pleasure, honor, and wealth ought to be practiced too much (excess) or too little (deficient); moral virtue is action performed between two extremes (Nic. Ethics, 1106b5 25). And it is by consultation that one may find the middle ground between excess and deficiency, The Golden Mean (Nic. Ethics, 1097b5 20; Nic. Ethics, 1104a10 25). Virtue is, by definition, the excellent performance of an object s function (Nic. Ethics, 1097b25 30). A thing s function is determined by eliminating every ability that isn t exclusive to what it is to be that thing (Nic. Ethics, 1097b30 1098a5). For example, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
