Primary Research
• Definition
Research you do yourself
• Advantages
You can look for specific subjects and read and find out more information
directly from the source. You are collecting your own information yourself.
• Disadvantages
There is easier less time consuming ways of finding the same information.

Conducting a surveys
Secondary Research
• Definition
Using research that someone else found
• Advantages
It saves a lot of time and it is very easy to access the same information you
could have collected yourself except easier to get.
• Disadvantages
Some information you could find may be wrong and you wouldn’t know you
just have to trust that whoever you have taken the research from.
• Example
Researching things on the internet and in books.
Quantitative Research
• Definition
Research that can be expressed as a figure or quantity.
• Advantages
you can find out how popular your or someone else's product is. Its good to
collect information on other peoples views and see what is the most common
and popular view.
• Disadvantages
it is very limited as to what research you can collect when its usually just one
word answers.
• Example
Box office, website hits and TV ratings
Qualitative Research
• Definition
Research that is much more in depth. Usually given as a long text and look more
into reasons and peoples backgrounds. It allows people to give a more in depth
answer.
• Advantages
It helps to give people a greater understanding of whatever they are researching.
It also helps people to explain and give reasoning behind what there views are.
• Disadvantages
The disadvantages are that questions can be hard to answer when they are so
vague.
• Example
Forums, reviews and discussions.
Audience Research
• Definition
Research into an audience of something to get there opinion on it
• Advantages
It helps the audience to enjoy whatever it is they are doing and also gives the
person who created the thing an idea of what they need to improve
• Disadvantages
It takes a long time and a lot people don’t want to take the time to tell the
person what it is that is bad about whatever they have created.
• Example
The audience of a TV show or who are subscribed to a certain website.
Market Research
• Definition
Researching into the consumers needs or preferences.
• Advantages
It gives the company a chance to see what is wrong with their product and a
chance for the consumer to tell the company what the problem is.
• Disadvantages
Alto of people don’t want to take the time to give company's there opinion on
their products as it is slightly time consuming.

Production Research
• Definition
Research into how well production is going within a company
• Advantages
it lets the company owner check if they are actually making money and if they
are making as much money as possible
• Disadvantages
Production rate can change a lot
• Example
Seeing how much a company is making in a certain amount of time.

Research that isn’t bias. Or that has no influences.
• Subjective
Research that comes from someone's beliefs and/or views on a certain
subject.

If the research actually answers the question asked.

Research that gives you the correct information.
