3. fmp production experiments (2)
1.
2. I decided to make a poster
dedicated to Lucky too, as it is
good practise for the real deal. I
started with creating a new project
on Photoshop from scratch. I then
proceed to click the gradient tool
on the tool bar on the left.
Because I wanted the background
to look interesting, I changed the
effects from sound to noise, giving
the gradient a more colourful
effect, and green and blue seemed
like the best option for Lucky.
There also peeks of turquoise
within the gradient, which I think
is brilliant. I used this effect
because I wanted to mix some
colours together that really do
speak about Lucky. It really does
reflect upon his personality and
character.
3. With the background taken care of, it was
time to add Lucky to the picture. First of
all, I wanted to add a cute picture if Lucky
to show that he is indeed adorable. So I
found one from my files of my phone and
then uploaded it onto Photoshop with I
simple click of the Open button. With the
picture uploaded, I used the same tool
that I used quite commonly in my
animation experiment; the polygon
magnetic lasso cut-out tool. I used this
tool to cut out the image of Lucky and
made sure there were no other parts of
the image were peeking in. Once the
image was rounded up, I used the copy
and paste tool in Edit to move the picture
to the actual poster and rearranged it to a
suitable scale with the transformation
guidelines. I used this guideline because it
was the simplest and easiest way of
cutting him out.The strength for this
technique was that it attaches carefully
around the outside of the image very
carefully. The weakness is, I cant think of a
weakness since it works to my advantage.
4. I next decided to add shapes to make
it look a little more geometric and
simple. I made the first circle behind
Lucky by clicking on the shape tool
and changes it from rectangle to
circle. I then made a circle will the fill
colour dark blue. I then moved the
layers around to make the circle look
like it is behind Lucky. I then moved
onto the second circle. I underwent
the same process, except the circle
had a darker indigo tone not the
same as the last. I once again moved
around the layers in order to make
the poster look layered and
interesting. Overall, this looks really
good and interesting, as well as
appealing to Lucky’s character,
which was happy, loving and caring,
as well as extremely funny. I added
this effect because it gives the image
a 3D order so that Lucky will pop up
since he is so important.
5. It was time to add the title to the
poster. I used the text box tool
for this. First, I typed in Lucky’s
full name and then scaled it to
appear atop his head. I then
coloured this in a really dark blue
colour. Once that was done, I
then wanted to add another title
on top to make it pop out and 3D
looking. So I underwent the same
process again but with two
exceptions: coloured the title
yellow and scaled it to look like it
is in front of the blue title. I really
do like this effect because it
makes the image go pop and
make it look like it shoots out. I
used this text style because it
gives the image a fun appearance
as well as a happy vibe.
6. Finally, it was time to add the
text that describes Lucky’s
loss. I used the text box tool
once again to create this part
of the poster. When I types the
initial text up, I then went to
the style box and changed the
font to a suitable style, a style
easy to read. With the style
taken care of, it was time to re-
scale the size of the text so it
can be seen easy and not hard
to read. Once that was
completed, the whole thing
was finished. I used this text
because it gives the image a
sharper meaning, in other
words, it means im serious
about what I’m saying about
him.
7. •What elements of
your experiments
will you include in
your final product?
I will use the bright colours
and bouncy text within my
poster because I believe
they are the key essentials
of what draws a closer
audience in to buy and
viewing this product as well
as thinking of it as a
touching thought of a loved
one, in this case, Lucky.
The strengths of this experiment overall was how I
managed to create a mixture of colours that reflect upon
Lucky’s personality, which was funny, lively and of course,
adorable. The weakness was trying to cut out the image of
lucky unscathed and direct in shape, it was hard to cut out
because I wanted to make it a perfect shape. The audience
can tell whether the picture is brightly colourful or not due
to the background mixture of colours as well as the colours
of the title, the background colours are quite dull but the
title is quite bright. I will change the overall image to have a
picture of me alongside a cartoon image of myself as well
as images that will represent my interests and personality.
The title format however will not change for the 3D
appearance gives an exciting vibe. I will also change the
font so that it appears matching to my character.
