2. Audience Profile
The age range for my game is 16-18 year olds. I m also going to try and appeal to the male
audience. This is because I feel that most endless runner games appeal more at men than
women. To appeal to my male audience I will include objects that are stereotypically aimed
at men. For example I may choose to include a car. This would appeal to my audience as car
games are usually aimed at men. My game will appeal to the age range by being quite
difficult. This will be executed by myself including lots of traps and obstacles which will kill
the player if they were to run into them. To also appeal to the age range I will make my game
fun. This will be done by including items like coins and mystery boxes. This will make the
game fun as the audience will want to get different characters and collect the coins. The
audience in which I am attempting to target do not have any specific interests however my
audience should have a hobby of playing games. Similar games such as crossy road and
subway surfers have younger audiences. This is because they include child characters and a
simple interface for that audience.
3. Style sheet
In my game I will choose to use a similar monster to this. This is because it looks dangerous however
it’s a cartoon. I will also use a similar monster to this because it is easily recognizable as a monster
and is clear to see that it will harm you. This is because of its facial expressions. A monster will be
implemented within my game to try and kill the opponent and stop the player getting as far as
possible.
In my game I will include coins. This is because they are one of the conventions of an endless runner game. I will
include a golden coin due to them being easily recognizable. This is because of their color. The color gold suggests that
they have worth. A gold coin is also a convention of these games. Another reason I want to include them within my
game is so that the audience will interact with the game more. This will be because they will want to collect the coins.
These coins will give you some sort of award at the end.
I will include a mystery box some where however it may be at the end of game. The color and the art on the box
shows that there is something mysterious within the box. The color of the box also draws the audiences attention
to the box due to the bright color of the game.
The lava pixel art is very simple but is clear to see. The color of the lava suggests that it is dangerous , this is
because red has colors of danger. The lava pixel art also draws the audiences attention to this trap due to it being
bright and also sticking out on a different color background. I will use this or something similar within my game due
to make the game more difficult for the audience , this is because the audience is 16-18 year olds.
4. I will include a character similar to this one. This is because he is clear to see and he is also created using
pixels. The character also looks like just a regular cartoon by this I mean he does not have any super hero
garments. The character I choose to include will be the main object , this is because he is used to play the
game. The colors of this character juts imply that he is a regular looking teenager , this us because of the
outfit choice as well as the colors.
For my game I will include a background. I like this background as it is simple looking but effective. This is
because it shows a bright blue sky which will appeal to the audience as well as the clouds which make the
sky look more realistic. The colors of the background have both got positive connotations which means
that most game which include this background are positive which means that they will not include any bad
language or graphic scenes.
For my game I will include some sort of trap. This will be to make the game harder. I want the game to be
hard because of the age range , 16-18. The spikes are instantly recognizable as scary objects due to there zig
zag structure. This is what the majority of spikes look like with a pixel game. The colors of the trap also imply
that it is metal. T
Within my game will include a bright colour as the main colour. This would be a choice of yellow
, red and blue. All these colours are used often within endless runner games. I will also include
these colours due to them causing a reaction which makes the audience look at them. The
colours will also give out connotations that my game includes positive vibes. This will be done as
brighter colours suggest nature , peaceful and life. This will show the audience that there will be
no swearing. This is shown as in 18 rated games such as red dead redemption they use darker
colours within the game. If I chose to include any fonts in my game I will include a strike most
likely. This is because it will make the text more viable and clear.
8. Sound Effects/Dialogue
Sound Effects
The sound effects I use will most likely be ones made by myself. This will be done l on
the website beepbox. This will allow me to create what ever sound effect I would like.
The sound effects within my game will be quite simple. These will be sounds like a
simple bump if you got example bash into something. I will also include a moving
sound. This sound will be very simple and will last 1 second. The reason these sound
effects will be simple is because in every endless runner game I have played and
looked at they have included simple sounds. For my final game I may also chose to
include a backing track. This backing track will be catchy and repetitive. This is
because then the audience will remember the game. This method has been used
within the super Mario theme I was unable to make a good sounding sound effect I
could use other sources such as YouTube or SoundCloud.
9. Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
Memory stick corrupts therefore I will loose
all my work.
back it up on another memory stick , email it to
yourself or back it up to one drive or a similar
service. Also make sure to eject the memory
stick from the computer before you leave.
Lose all work due to the computer shutting
down and you have not saved it.
save every 10 or 15 minutes or turn on auto
save. Also save to memory stick so that you
easily access it again If computer is faulty.
spill water on mouse or keyboard , this will
delay your work.
Do not drink or eat near a computer. This
will also distract you so that you are not
working at the best of your ability.
Computer freezes and shuts down Microsoft
office or photoshop.
save work constantly. Email your work to
yourself after each lesson so if you do loose it
you have a recent copy.
Forget memory stick one day. get on with a later stage of the topic , this is so
that you can insert the earlier part when you
find your memory stick.
10. Health and SafetyPotential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Eye strain Blink regular. Also turn down the brightness if
this is a regular thing that happens to yourself.
This may also be avoided if you wear glasses or
if you visit the opticians.
Back ache Find a comfier chair. You could also go to
the doctors about this if this is a regular
occurrence. Have regular stretches and
maybe even walk around however do not
get distracted.
headache Drink regularly to avoid this as well as
taking the right pills if this happens often.
You could also turn the brightness down on
the computer as bright screens can cause
headaches.
sickness Go home or continue to do the work in an
isolated space. This is so that you can
concentrate more and also not distracting
others. You could also complete your work
at home using the correct programmes.
