2. Research
• The research I did was very useful for my finished magazine. I looked at a wide
range of fashion/ art magazines, wanting to create one of my own. Reading
the articles was helpful because I could see what would be good in an article
of my own. I think my articles came out okay. I looked at Vogue’s articles,
written by a featured celebrity or author, there were common themes such as
– fashion (obviously), life events, what the modelling industry is like, etc.
These inspired my article and what I should include to make it a good article,
that would fit into a fashion magazine.
• I looked at different fashion campaigns – such a Missoni 2019 campaign with
Gigi Hadid – to help inspire me for model poses and editing and how they
should look/ how I wanted them to come out.
• The weaknesses in my research is that I probably should’ve look at even more
magazines that I did, instead of limiting myself to the popular, high street
magazines. I should have looked at more niche magazines, and it would’ve
made my magazine article just that little bit better.
3. Planning
• I planned my magazine quite well, I had a photoshoot with a model on the
first day of production, meaning I could start production straight away and
not have to worry about finding a model. I finished my first DPS and
article within the first week of production, meaning I could create another
and an advert and cover on the second week of production. (I had another
photoshoot with three other models on the first Wednesday of
production).
• This worked in my favour because the second DPS took less time to create
and I could get it finished within the weeks we had to complete it. It also
meant I could spend more time editing the photos and making them look
the way I wanted them to. This meant that my products came out well
done as I could take my time on perfecting them.
I should’ve planned another photoshoot to make sure I had lots of variations
of photos and locations within my magazine. This would have made my
magazine have a better variation and look all round more professional.
4. Time Management
• I used my time well, I got all my PowerPoints and background planning
done in time for production and made sure I had more then enough time
to do my evaluation and have everything done and uploaded to my blog in
time. I don’t think I needed anymore time, because everything was done
before the end of production weeks, I only needed to do evaluation
PowerPoints in he last week. I had just the right amount of time to finish
everything, and wouldn’t need any more.
• I made sure that I used a good amount of time on my research, but not so
much that I would loose production time. I had more then enough time
for research an used it well, looking at relevant magazines for inspiration.
5. Technical Qualities
Title colour
matches with
the dress.
More
articles on
the side,
more
contents.
Better resolution on
picture and lighting.
Model in front of title
Month on the cover
Model stands out
from the
background
6. Aesthetic Qualities
I like the way my products came out. They look the way I wanted them to. The DPS came
out a bit cooler then my cover and I liked the advert. The glitching's that I used made my
magazines look a lot better, and boosted the overall aesthetics.
These are some of the
photos that got
glitched when
photoshop stopped
working.
This is the
final
product
with the
glitches in
it. I think it
makes the
dps look
more
interesting
/artsy.
The advert for the perfume had the
same aesthetics as my DPS, because
it fitted with the overall look.
The aesthetics of the
magazine came out better
then I thought it would. I
prefer the way it came out
at the end.
7. Audience Appeal
I think that my magazine would appeal to the target audience. I would read it – and
my target audience is people who are similar to me and share the same passion for
fashion. I have written the articles in a way that would relate to the type of people I
want to read them. People want to read about other peoples passions or
development, and I made sure to include these factors into my articles to make sure
I hit all the targets I want to.
The articles in the magazines that a researched use a personal story to appeal to the
reader and how a certain thing has effected them. I decided to do this because I am
passionate about fashion and it has effected me and I wanted to share my story.
However, in the bigger magazines, the article would be written by an influential
person in society which people would want to read about.
The photos would also appeal because I used models from the age of the target
audience. This would make the magazine appeal to teenagers as, the models used
themselves are teenagers.
